Donald Trump's mission
h/t Instapundit
Donald Trump issued an unmistakable threat to Hillary Clinton Sunday night: I am willing to cross any line to make the next 30 days of your life hell.

Capping the most devastating 48 hours of his presidential campaign, Trump stunned the country on Sunday by convening a press conference with women who have accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct and calling the former president an abuser of women in a nationally televised debate.

The Republican presidential nominee's decision to bring women from Bill Clinton's past into the debate -- both physically into the debate hall and into his verbal attacks against Hillary Clinton -- signaled a remarkably defiant strategy anchored in some of the most electric allegations that have been leveled against the Clintons in their decades in public life. It also guarantees that in the final, ugly month of the 2016 election, the country's first female presidential nominee will be repeatedly subjected to the indignity of confronting the most painful moments of her marriage in public.

Arabia
U.S. Navy Ship Comes Under Fire Near Yemen
NYT, so you have to read all the spin to find out what actually happened...
A United States Navy guided-missile destroyer came under fire on Sunday from coastal areas of Yemen controlled by Houthi rebels, but the two missiles that were launched toward the ship fell harmlessly into the sea, the Pentagon said.

While a Houthi military official on Monday denied reports that the rebel group had targeted the destroyer,
...perhaps a fair statement given that the missiles fell well short of the ship...
the episode seemed to represent the first known instance in which the Houthis had fired on an American vessel since Yemen’s civil war began in 2014.

The attack occurred a day after airstrikes on a funeral in Sana, the capital, killed more than 100 people, prompting the United States to say it would conduct “an immediate review” of its support for the Saudi-led coalition battling the rebels.

In response to the attack on the funeral, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps of Iran, widely and correctly seen as the main backers of the Houthis, issued an angry statement saying the rebel group, which Iran refers to as the Ansarullah movement, would “avenge” the bombing, which the statement called “a U.S., Saudi, Israeli joint conspiracy.”

The statement concluded: “The glorious and sublime nation of Iran will continue to support the resistance of Muslim nations, especially the innocent people of Yemen, against the Zionist wrongdoing of House of Saud and calls all divisions of the Islamic nation to condemn the great and brutal crime in Sana and unveil the face of hypocrites who claim to be servants of the holy shrines.”

The Houthis are known to have a stockpile of various Soviet-era rockets and missiles. Saudi Arabia nevertheless accuses Iran of sending missiles to the rebels, as it does to the Lebanese Hezbollah movement and to the Islamic Jihad group in Gaza. Iran denies it has provided weapons to the Houthi rebels.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps views the United States Navy as its main opponent in the region. In August, there were multiple incidents in the Persian Gulf involving Guards Corps ships challenging American ships.

On Sunday evening, the destroyer Mason, while conducting routine operations in international waters, detected two missiles fired at the ship within a one-hour period, according to a statement from Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman.

Captain Davis said both missiles had fallen well shy of the ship — he would not say by how much — and caused no damage or injuries. The ship was operating in the southern end of the Red Sea, north of Bab el Mandeb, a strait.

“We assess the missiles were launched from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen,” Captain Davis said.

DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile: Juanita Broaddrick Has a Right to be Heard
[Breitbart] St. LOUIS, Missouri -- Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile said Juanita Broaddrick has a right to be heard.

"Juanita Broaddrick is a citizen and any citizen has a right in the country under the First Amendment to say and do whatever, but doesn't Hillary Clinton deserve an opportunity as a candidate for office to talk about the issues that impact all Americans?" Brazile responded when asked if Broaddrick has a right to be believed in the media spin room after Sunday night';s second presidential debate in St. Louis, Missouri.

Broaddrick, who has alleged that President Bill Clinton sexually assaulted her in 1978 and Hillary Clinton intimidated her, has spoken out in support of Donald Trump and sat in the audience during Sunday night's debate.

#2  “Eleanor Mondale and Monica Lewinsky could not satiate the president’s horndog sexual desires. There were many others. I saw plenty of awkward run-ins and drama with other officers and staff. President Clinton had difficulty managing where he saw his many mistresses, whether it was at the White House or on the road. It baffled the Uniformed Division as to how he could manage all these women without any of them realizing there were so many others. We wondered how he got any work done and joked that he would have been better at running a brothel in a red-light district than the White House.”

"Multikultistan: A house of horrors for ordinary Germans,"
[Breitbart] Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta received a bleak intelligence memo on Muslim migration in Europe, according to Wikileaks Podesta email dump.

The email address orca100@upcmail.nl sent a message to Podesta's email account at Georgetown Law School on February 21, 2016. The Clinton campaign has staunchly advocated for increasing Muslim refugee settlement in the United States.

"Multikultistan: A house of horrors for ordinary Germans," was the headline on the apparent intelligence packet that was sent to Podesta. The email was released as part of Wikileaks' Podesta email dump, which Wikileaks claims is only one percent complete at this time and will continue throughout the election.

Trump Will Win the National Battle for Legitimacy
h/t TW
The referee should have stopped it in the tenth. Punching at will, Donald Trump said, "Hillary used the power of her office to make $250 million. Why not put some money in? You made a lot of it while you were secretary of State? Why aren't you putting money into your own campaign? Just curious." Reeling and against the ropes, Clinton gasped that she supported ... the Second Amendment. It was a brilliant rhetorical device: under the rubric of campaign financing, Trump slipped in an allegation that Clinton corruptly enriched herself by using the power of her office for personal gain--and Clinton didn't even respond. That's a win by a knockout.

That's the decisive issue of the campaign: the corrupt machinations of a ruling elite that considers itself above the law, and the rage of the American people against the oligarchical ruling class that has pulled the ladder up behind it. Trump's bombshell below Clinton's waterline came at the end of the debate, well prepared by jabs at Clinton's erased emails and Bill's rapes. Trump used the "J" word--that is, jail. That was perhaps the evening's most important moment. This is not an election fought over competing policies but a struggle for legitimacy. A very large portion of the electorate (how large a portion we will discover next month) believes that its government is no longer legitimate, and that it has become the instrument of an entrenched rent-seeking oligarchy.

...The Republican voters chose a reckless, independently wealthy, vulgar, rough-edged outsider precisely because they believe that the system is corrupt. They are right to so believe; if the voters knew a tenth of what I know about it, they would march on Washington with pitchforks.

The whole weekend news cycle centered around Trump's potty-mouth tape, which will count for exactly nothing in the final tally. No-one who has followed Donald Trump in public media for the past thirty years expected anything less from the great vulgarian. We are stuck with Trump precisely because the Republican establishment imploded over Iraq and the economy.

I assumed that Trump's diffidence during the first debate amounted to profiling his opponent. No-one would remember what was said in the first debate come the general election, and Trump appeared to be probing and watching Clinton's responses. This time he has bloodied her. Whether there is more to come--a thermonuclear revelation of some kind--I have no idea. But given Trump's experience in the entertainment business, we can assume that the really nasty stuff will come out later.

...Whoever wins, a very large part of the electorate--perhaps more than a third--will believe that the government lacks legitimacy. We have not had circumstances like this since the Civil War. If Trump loses, his voters will blame a corrupt oligarchy and its allied media for electing a criminal to the White House; if Clinton loses, the minority constituencies of the Democratic Party will respond as if the Klu Klux Klan had taken over Washington. There has never been anything like this in the past century and a half of American history, and it is thankless to predict the outcome. Nonetheless I will: Trump will crush it. Clinton, the major media, the pollsters, and the mainstream Republican Party have badly misread the insurrectionist mood of the electorate.
From your mouth to the ear of G*d, David.

#7  Hillary's people had to know that Trump would unleash on Bill's issues with women and Hillary's coverage of such. I think they hoped that by releasing it right before the debate that would dominate the debate before he could create a counter-punch.

They were wrong big time. I think the counter-blows landed far harder than the initial shots.

Trump says Muslims are collectively responsible for terrorism
[Jpost] A Muslim audience member asked about Islamophobia on Sunday night, and how the two candidates planned to deal with rising racism in the US.

Responding first, Donald Trump said that Islamophobia was "a shame," but said that the US Muslim community bears communal responsibility for Islamic terrorism, and that Clinton would not even admit the problem and call it by its name.

Clinton, responding, said that America is not at war with Islam, but with radical jihadist terror, and that Muslim Americans need to be shown that they have a place in the country.
And if this was the only difference between the two of them, it would be enough.

#1  So far as I can tell, it is the left who created the term "Islamaphobia." Specifically, it was most likely CAIR that coined this PC crap to try to neuter enemies. Recall that CAIR was an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial. Now we find out that in the 28 pages of the 911 report recently released indicates SA was complicit in 911--something most of us suspected ever since 911. So I have to ask, who is responsible for most of the modern day terrorism in the world? The record would indicate that it comes largely from Muslim countries and sleeper Muslim terrorist immigrants that have come to Western countries.

Palm Springs gunman ‘wanted to shoot police'
[SouthAfricaToday] In the minutes before two Palm Springs officers were fatally shot and a third wounded, the suspected gunman’s father told a neighbor his son was armed, “acting crazy” and wanted to shoot police.

John Felix, 26, was apprehended early Sunday after a lengthy standoff and will be charged this week with murder.

Police said Felix finally emerged wearing soft body armor and carrying ammunition but no weapon after police shot a chemical agent into the home where he had holed up. Investigators were trying to piece together what led up to a 911 call about a family disturbance that preceded the cold-blooded killings.

A neighbor, Frances Serrano, told The Associated Press that the suspect’s panicked father, Santos Felix, earlier said his son, an admitted gang member, had a gun.

“My son is inside and we’re scared, he’s acting crazy,” Serrano said the older Felix told her. When it was suggested they call the police he said, “Yeah, he already knows they are coming, and he is going to shoot them.”

Serrano said she went back inside her house and within minutes police cars arrived and gunfire erupted.

Police said John Felix suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire on the officers who had responded to a disturbance call Saturday afternoon at the home he shared with his parents in a quiet neighborhood of single-story ranch homes in this desert resort city.

Police arrested John Felix after shooting him with non-lethal rounds when he exited through the back door. SWAT officers using bullhorns and other methods had tried through the night to establish contact with him, but got no response. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

District Attorney Michael Hestrin said John Felix would be charged Tuesday with first degree murder and several other felony counts. Prosecutors would decide within two weeks whether he could face the death penalty, Hestrin said. It wasn’t known Sunday if John Felix has an attorney.

Court records show John Felix is a gang member who was previously sentenced to four years in prison in a failed murder plot in 2009. Documents cited by the Desert Sun newspaper reveal he was charged with attempted murder but pleaded down to assault with a firearm and admitted his gang connection.

Documents also show John Felix was the subject of a forceful arrest three years ago at the same house where Saturday’s shootings occurred.

Reyes indicated police had previous dealings with the suspect, but he declined to answer questions about whether responding officers were prepared to deal with someone with a violent criminal past. The chief would not characterize the content of the 911 call or say who made it.

Former Mali Rebel Leader Killed in Mine Explosion
Filed under Page 3: Non-WoT because the gentleman is a former leader now connected to the UN effort.
[AnNahar] A leader of a former rebel group in northern Mali was killed Saturday by a mine kaboom in Kidal in the country's north, military and ex-rebel sources said.

Cheikh Ag Aoussa's car "was hit by a mine and he was struck down in his prime" after he left the office of the U.N.'s MINUSMA mission, according to an African military source who is part of the deployment.

"He was attending a meeting, then as he went to go home he was accidentally killed," the source added.

The former rebel Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), which controls Kidal, confirmed his death and called for an "independent inquiry."

"Among the theories, there is that of an attack and a boom-mobileing," CMA member Mohammed Ag Oussene told AFP.

An official in Kidal also said Aoussa was killed by a mine.

A Tuareg from the Ifoghas tribe, Aoussa was the number two in the High Council for the Unity of Azawad (HCUA), one of a myriad of gangs in northern Mali.

The HCUA was formed mainly by dissident elements of al-Qaeda-linked Ansar Dine
...a mainly Tuareg group that controlled areas of Mali's northern desert together with Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and MUJAO in early 2012...
, one of the jihadist groups that occupied parts of northern Mali in 2012, throwing the country into chaos.

Aoussa had joined Ansar Dine as the rebellion broke out and served as right-hand man to its leader Iyad Ag Ghaly.

He broke away in 2013 -- just after the French-led intervention to halt the jihadists' onslaught -- to join a different group that would later become the HCUA.

Mali last year concluded a peace deal between the government, its armed proxies, and Tuareg-led rebels who have launched several uprisings since the 1960s. The deal's implementation has been patchy.

Kidal has been rocked by deadly fighting for control between gangs which were party to the peace deal.

The fresh unrest has sparked international concern, with U.N. Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon saying in a report published this week that the pro-government groups and former rebels involved in the festivities should potentially face sanctions.

The report warned of serious failings in the U.N.'s mission in Mali as it loses vital equipment and faces a rising threat from Lion of Islams.

The ongoing international military intervention that began in January 2013 has driven Islamist fighters away from the major urban centers they had briefly controlled, but large tracts of Mali are still not controlled by domestic or foreign troops.

Hillary's bisexual? Not a great surprise. This has been around for quite awhile. Seems WJC has added some fire to the smoke with his private comments. ISIS builds six rings of defense in Mosul
Running the old Soviet defensive playbook, step by step
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Media outlets reported on Sunday that the Islamic State group (ISIS) started to build six defense lines in Mosul in order to hinder the advance of security forces toward the city and added that all defense lines are reinforced with booby-trapped vehicles and suicide bombers.

Al Sumaria News stated, “The ISIS built two lines of defense in the left coast and four others in the right cost, in order to hinder the advance of security forces toward the ISIS-occupied areas.”

“Each defense line is reinforced with booby-trapped vehicles, suicide bombers and gunmen,” Al Sumaria added.

Earlier today, the Spokesman of al-Hashd al-Shaabi Ahmed al-Assadi emphasized that the participation of al-Hashd al-Shaabi militia in Mosul offensive that will start within few days is confirmed.

#4  Ok, so we need six squadrons of B-52s, loaded to the gills with iron bombs, to clear a path to the interior of the city. One strike every six minutes until ISIS either croaks or surrenders.

Defense lines cannot survive an ARCLIGHT strike. The concussion alone would kill everyone on the receiving end. We just don't have the balls to do it, and no one else has the ability.

Lashkar-e-Taiba suffered maximum damage in surgical strikes
[HINDUSTANTIMES] Pakistain-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) suffered the maximum damage in the cross-LoC surgical strikes on terror launch pads carried out by Indian army with assessment reports of radio intercepts indicating that around 20 of its hard boyz were killed.

The assessment reports available from Indian Army’s field units which included radio conversations between various Pak formations showed maximum damage was inflicted on LeT at Dudniyal launchpad in Pakistain-occupied-Kashmire (PoK), opposite to Kupwara sector of North Kashmire, according to sources in the know of details of the recent surgical strikes.

The sources said on Sunday that five teams culled out from the army division in the area were tasked to destroy launchpads of terror groups located at Kail also known as Kel and Dudniyal.

In a well calibrated operation, which started on the intervening night of September 28 and 29, the Indian Army moved across the LoC and smashed four launch pads that were under the guard of a Pak post located 700 metres from the LoC.

The sources said that the bully boyz were not expecting an action by the Indian Army and therefore were taken by surprise.

The terrorists, mainly belonging to the LeT, were seen running towards the Pak post when they were killed by the Indian troops, according to the assessment reports.

After the successful strike inside the PoK, an effective radio monitoring and strict vigil was maintained, the sources said, adding the wireless messages from radio intercepts of Mighty Pak Army indicated that at least 10 LeT bully boyz had been been killed during the multiple and near synchronised surgical strikes on four launch pads.

There was heavy movement of Mighty Pak Army vehicles till the break of dawn and all the bodies were cleared off and taken away, the sources said, adding as per the radio intercepts there was a mass burial in the Neelum valley.

Similar blow was dealt to the terrorist launch pads located at Balnoi area opposite of Poonch in which nine people belonging to LeT were killed as per the radio intercepts of Mighty Pak Army, the sources said.

Two Pak soldiers belonging to 8 Northern Light Infantry were also killed in the strike in this sector, they said.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
the sources said that post 8.30 AM of September 28, radio and wireless intercepts between various formations of Pakistain have fallen silent.

According to the sources, there were intelligence reports that bully boyz were planning to enter into India from various directions in Kashmire as well as Jammu region.

The sources said that the army waited for the opportunity when the bully boyz were in the process of gathering at one place before giving them a bloody nose.

Pakistain has contested the claims of Indian army and said that there was no surgical strikes carried out. They only admitted that two of their soldiers were killed in cross border firing.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
after the operation was over, the sources said, duty officer at the Director General of Military Operation in Pakistain was informed about the strikes carried out by the army in PoK.

Heavy toll weighs on Misrata after battle for Libya’s Sirte
[AlArabiya] Next to the rusting shell cases outside Misrata’s museum of Libya’s 2011 uprising is a new addition: a scaffold used by ISIS in Sirte to display bodies of executed prisoners, mounted on a would-be suicide bomber’s captured truck.

Five years after Misrata’s fighters killed Muammar Qaddafi in Sirte, his home city, they are on the verge of ending another campaign there, this time against ISIS militants who controlled the city for a year.

The battle has been costly and drawn-out. Many Misratans, who form one the strongest of the rival military forces to emerge after Gaddafi’s overthrow, say they are tired of war.

But defeating ISIS in Sirte, about 230 km (140 miles) southeast of Misrata along the Mediterranean coast, will leave their city far from secure. Other enemies remain, and some Misratans are ready to fight again if pushed.

In early September, with the war in Sirte already approaching its end, eastern commander Khalifa Haftar seized some of Libya’s major oil ports, one just 200km east of Sirte.

It was a challenge to the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli that is trying to unite competing armed groups. Misrata has supported the GNA; Haftar rejected it.

“We are trying to avoid war, but Haftar is not clear and his intentions are not clear,” said Ibrahim Baitulmal, the head of Misrata’s military council. “Sometimes war is imposed on us, and when the enemy approaches, you have to defend yourself.”

Just two years ago, Misrata was the power base for Libya Dawn, an Islamist-leaning alliance that prevailed against forces aligned with Haftar in a battle for control of Tripoli.

The conflict left Libya with two competing sets of governments in the capital and the east, and eastern authorities later named Haftar, a former Qaddafi ally, to head their forces.

Haftar waged a military campaign in Benghazi against an alliance of Islamists and other opponents that Misrata supported. Misrata swung its support behind the UN-brokered deal that resulted in the GNA, and has provided security for the new government in Tripoli since its arrival in March.

Misrata’s brigades began the campaign in Sirte after ISIS advanced north-west toward their city in May.

Though the operation has been supported by small teams of Western special forces, and since Aug. 1 by US air strikes, Misratans say they feel abandoned.

A large majority of fighters are from Misrata itself. Many lack training and equipment, and casualty rates have been high, with more than 560 fighters killed and at least 2,750 wounded.

Misrata businessmen have made donations, and hundreds of women prepare food each day to be driven in to Sirte.

“We have been alone in this battle,” said Mustafa Ben Haiba, a 46-year-old police employee who lost two of his seven sons in 2011 and another in Sirte in June.

Support for Tripoli
The campaign in Sirte is nominally under the GNA’s command, but the government, which has struggled to establish its authority, has been slow to provide support.

Officials in Misrata say the fight against ISIS has improved relations with residents of Sirte and the inland town of Bani Walid, both bastions of Qaddafi support that Misrata rebels attacked during 2011.

This is part of a broader push for reconciliation that included a recent deal to allow the return of residents to Tawergha, another inland town, which was destroyed and emptied in 2011 after Qaddafi forces used it as a base.

There have also been prisoner exchanges with the western pro-Haftar town of Zintan, said Ali Abusetta, a member of Misrata’s municipal council.

He does not exclude a rapprochement between east and west but, like many in Misrata, he suspects that Haftar wants to become the country’s military ruler.

Both Abusetta and Baitulmal said Misrata would respond if Haftar’s forces advanced further west or tried to keep oil revenues for themselves. But there is little confidence that the GNA and its Western backers would come to Misrata’s defense.

Ziad Bellam, a brigade leader from Misrata, pointed to Egyptian and Emirati support for Haftar, and the presence of French special forces who worked alongside the eastern commander’s troops.

“If they want Haftar, it’s strange that they helped us overthrow Qaddafi,” he said.

(ISIS) were captured in the Kurdish-run town of Qaratapa in Iraq’s northern Diyala by Peshmerga security forces as they were "plotting" to carry out terror attacks.

"A person from Baquba who had joined ISIS through social media was captured by security forces in Qaratapa," Mohammed Haji Omer, a Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) official, told Rudaw. "He gave information on five more murderous Moslems who had plotted to carry out terror attacks, together with him in Qaratapa and the area."

Omer added that one of the seven "was captured with five improvised booby traps at a village near Qaratapa by Iraqi intelligence."

Qaratapa is a multiethnic town with a population of 43,000. Most of the administrative units in the town are run by Kurds.

Wikileaks Reveals Hillary Lied About Marines Rejecting Her Because She Was a Woman
[BREITBART] No one who knows anything about the military in general and the Marines in particular ever believed that story. 26 or 27 isn't too old to enlist in any service. By 1975 they had done away with the WACs and the Women Marines (They were called BAMs -- "Broad-assed Marines" in certain circles) so they wouldn't "reject" you because you were a woman. I knew a dozen or so just casually, all of them top notch people. If she was "rejected" it would have been for her eyesight, but I suspect the real reason the recruiter told her to go away was because of her snotty attitude.

US soldiers who were targeted by would-be Egyptian terrorist in Kuwait save his life by getting him out of a burning vehicle
That sounds like the kind of thing our guys would instinctively do.
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] American soldiers rescued a would-be Egyptian terrorist who rammed his vehicle into their truck while they were driving along a Kuwaiti highway, causing it to catch fire.

The US embassy said on Sunday that the troops, who are deployed in Kuwait, were intentionally rammed into by the Egyptian in what officials are calling 'an attempted terrorist attack.'

While all three US troops in the truck escaped unharmed, the assailant suffered injuries and was rushed to hospital after being pulled from his burning garbage truck by the soldiers.

Kuwaiti authorities have identified the assailant as 28-year-old Ibrahim Sulaiman.

Kuwaiti authorities had earlier said five American soldiers were involved.

The Interior Ministry published pictures of the aftermath of the crash showing a wrecked garbage truck along with items it described as a suicide belt loaded with shrapnel.

The white pickup truck apparently carrying the soldiers had the left side of its bed smashed in.

Several Turkish diplomats apply for asylum in Germany
[DW] At least three Turkish diplomats have sought refuge in Germany following the failed July 15 coup, German media report. The reports come amid a tense period in relations between Ankara and Berlin.

The three asylum cases included a military attaché to the Turkish embassy in Berlin, the German daily "Suddeutsche Zeitung," along with broadcasters "NDR" and "WDR," reported Friday.

The applications were made after Turkish authorities denied the validity of hundreds of diplomatic passports in the wake of the attempted putsch by a section of the Turkish military.

Tens of thousands of police, members of the military, academics, judges and others were either fired or detained in the weeks that followed, and diplomats posted abroad weren't spared either, according to the latest in a string of joint investigations by the three news outlets.

Iraq
ISIS militants destroy Assyrian Church in Nineveh
[ARA News] ERBIL – Extremists of the Islamic State (ISIS) bombed an Assyrian Church in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh governorate on Sunday.

The radical group has bombed the Barbara Fouq Attal Church in the Assyrian town of Karmlis near Mosul city.

“Daesh [ISIS] jihadis detonated a number of explosive devices inside the church on Sunday afternoon,” human rights activist Ghazi Shamoun told ARA News. “The church was destroyed completely.”

The Assyrian town of Karmlis and other Christian areas have been evacuated completely subsequent to the ISIS invasion of Nineveh governorate in June, 2014. Thousands of Christian families fled their hometowns and took shelter in Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

“The terrorist group has destroyed dozens of Assyrian churches and archeological sites in Nineveh in a bid to eliminate the historical identity of the area,” Shamoun said.

History Under Attack
Zuheir Mousilly, a media activist based in Nineveh, told ARA News that since its control over the city of Mosul in 2014, ISIS has destroyed much of Iraqi historic sites and monuments, including the Assyrian city of Nimrud, the Winged Bulls, and the Mosul National Museum, after stealing the removable pieces for smuggling.

Last April, ISIS demolished the Gate of God [Eia] which dates back to the 7th century BC, the time of the Assyrian king Sennacherib.

The expert on the Iraqi Antiquities Affairs Yasser Hatami condemned the destruction of the historic gate, blaming Iraqi authorities for the incident for their inability to protect those archeological sites.

“ISIS views those sites as sacrilegious and a return to paganism,” Syrian antiquities chief Abdul Maamoun Abdulkarim told ARA News in an earlier interview.

Last year, ISIS extremists bombed the renowned Yezidi ancient minaret of the Shingal district (120 km west of the city of Mosul), in northern Iraq.

In April 2015, the terror group blew up the church of Virgin Mary in the Assyrian village of Tel Nasri near the town of Tel Temir (50 km west of Hasakah) in northeastern Syria.

Allied warbirds hit concentrations of ISIS troops

(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – Jazeera and Badiya Operations Command announced on Sunday, that 12 members of the Islamic State group were killed in an air strike carried out by the US-led international coalition, west of Ramadi, and emphasized that the air strike also destructed four vehicles and a rockets launcher pad.

Commander of Jazeera Operations, Major General Qassim Mohamadi, said in a press statement, “This morning, the international coalition aircraft bombarded gatherings of ISIS in the areas of Jubail, Hayy al-Bakr and al-Shamiyah in Heet Island.”

“The air strike resulted in the killing of 12 ISIS members, in addition to destroying four armed vehicles and a rockets launcher pad,” Mohamadi explained.

Mohamadi stated that the air strikes and ground operations that were conducted on the strongholds of the ISIS in Heet Island destroyed the group’s main headquarters and caches of weapons, and forced the rest of members to flee to Qaim.

“The coming few hours will witness notable military achievements; the security forces will liberate the remaining areas of Heet Island, then will advance toward the districts of Rawa, Aana and Qaim to liberate them from the ISIS control,” Mohamadi added.

U.S. Envoy to UN Warns N.Korea of Tough Response
The top U.S. envoy to the UN visited Seoul on Sunday and warned North Korea that her government willing to use every means to pressure the North to give up its pursuit of weapons of mass destruction. Samantha Power sounded the warning in a press conference a day after arriving here on a four-day visit.
Samantha Power is an intellectual and moral lightweight who believes that the U.S. should fight only when it has nothing at stake. She's been a key part of the failed foreign policies (all of them) of the Obama administration. The Russians, Chinese and Iranians laugh at her. I suspect some of our allies also laugh at her. The Norks certainly won't regard her with any gravity whatsoever.
"While the Security Council resolutions are one tool in our toolbox and a very important instrument of pressure, we are committed to using all the tools in our tool kit to address this serious threat, including the diplomatic pressure that we are mobilizing around the world to convince other nations to isolate the regime," Power said.

Power oversees negotiations over sanctions against North Korea at the UN. Her visit comes as the North prepares for what appears to be either another nuclear test or missile launch as it marks the anniversary of its Workers Party on Monday.

Power said North Korea's nuclear problem is also a human rights problem. Arriving at Incheon International Airport on Saturday, she said the North Korean regime is an "abomination" and guilty of the "worst crime."
About which we've done virtually nothing. We're not pressing the sanctions with the vigor required. We're not making it painful for China to use the Norks as their cats paw. We're not trying to go around Fat Boy to help the North Korean people. Our response has been vapid, and has been so since at least the Clinton administration.
In the press conference she accused Pyongyang of investing all its resources into producing illegal weapons even though one in four North Korean children suffers from malnutrition.
That's not news.
The comments reflect Washington's two-track strategy of accusing Pyongyang of both human rights abuses and illegal weapons development.
Which isn't working.

Southern rebellion snuffed out claims army
[LibyaHerald] The Libyan army’s southern commander claimed today to have scotched an attempt to replace him. Rebellious officers met on Friday in Brak Al-Shatti and chose General Suliman Kanah as their new chief.

General Mohamed Ben Nail said that his troops had surrounded the rebel commanders and used mediators to persuade them to hand over their arms. According to LANA in Beida the rebels had then been allowed to go free. There was no mention of where this confrontation took place nor whether Kanah was among the disarmed commanders who were released.

Nail blamed the attempted takeover on a conspiracy hatched by UNSMIL chief Martin Kobler which he said had been aimed to divide the Libyan army. Nail added that the army had now reinforced its positions in Sebha.

The Brak Al-Shatti rebellion was seen as a challenge to armed forces commander-in-chef Khalifa Hafter. The rebels had said they still considered themselves under army orders but did not wish to become involved in polarised politics.

The army’s claimed success in countering the breakaway would appear to have increased its hold on Sebha, the major town in the south. Until July the dominant armed group was Misrata’s Third Force which in April 2014 had been sent south as peacekeepers.

However this July, as the manpower demands of the Bunyan Marosus operation against IS terrorists in Sirte increased, the greater part of the Third Force was withdrawn from the Sebha region.

It had been headquartered in Sebha’s Qadaffi-era People’s Palace and also occupied the Tamenhint airbase and barracks outside the town.

Armed groups in south Libya abandon Dignity Operation
[Libya Observer] Former Qadaffy army officers in south Libya have agreed to set up their own military command after years of fighting for Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's Dignity Operation.

During a meeting in Qira town in Wadi Shati on Thursday, the officers selected General Ali Kannah as the commander of "Libyan Arab Armed Forces in South Libya," and to be separate from Khalifa Haftar’s so called "General Command of Libyan Armed Forces" in al-Marj.

In a statement, the southern officers called all army personnel to join their barracks and confirmed that army units would be reconstructed.

They also confirmed that their forces will only operate under a unified command for the Libyan army when the state is built.

General Kannah claimed his forces won't intervene in politics, calling all western and eastern politicians to unify the Libyan army under one command.

"We only intend to secure the people and strategic installations in the south in addition to backing police institution," he said.

He confirmed they would stand at an equal distance from all Libyan rivals, saying the establishment of "Libyan Arab Armed Forces in South Libya" is an internal matter for the southern region.

18 killed in PKK suicide bomb attack in Hakkari
Ten soldiers and eight civilians were killed on Oct. 9 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) suicide bomb attack targeting a military road checkpoint in the Şemdinli district of the eastern province of Hakkari, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has announced.

Speaking ahead of a ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) consultation meeting in Istanbul, Yıldırım said 10 soldiers and eight civilians were killed in the suicide attack when a PKK bomber blew himself up inside a bomb-laden pickup that drove into the Durak gendarmerie road checkpoint in the district.

Yıldırım said five tons of explosives were used in the attack, which created a six-meter deep hole at the scene and damaged buildings nearby.

Two of the killed soldiers were identified as Pvt. Eyüp Hacıoğlu and Gendarmerie Specialized Sgt. Hasan Aydoğdu.

In addition, the Hakkari Governor’s Office also stated that 27 people, including 11 soldiers, were wounded in the attack and were transferred to hospitals with a military helicopter.

It detailed that the bomb-laden pickup disobeyed stop warnings while other PKK militants opened harassment fire to distract attention. The pickup was later detonated.

Turkey kills 38 ISIL militants, rebels advance in Syria
Some 38 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants were killed in northern Syria over the last 24 hours, the Turkish military said on Oct. 9, marking an escalation of conflict in the area where Syrian rebels, backed by Ankara, are fighting the jihadists.

Supported by Turkish tanks and air strikes, rebels have been pushing towards the Islamic State (IS) stronghold of Dabiq in an operation launched in late August.

Fourteen of the ISIL militants were killed as they attempted to enter the rebel-controlled villages of Akhtarin and Turkmen Bareh, three kilometers east of Dabiq, a key target of Turkey’s Euphrates Operaiton, the Turkish military said in a statement.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Octb 8 that ISIL fighters had captured those villages in a counter attack near the Turkish border, but the Turkish military statement contradicted this account.

Another 17 ISIL militants were killed in air strikes by U.S.-led coalition warplanes in the same areas, the military said in its daily round-up on the Euphrates Shield.

Turkish warplanes later launched their own air strikes against ISIL targets in northern Syria on Sunday morning, killing seven militants and destroying five buildings which they were using, the army said in a subsequent statement.

The military also said two Syrian rebels had been killed and 19 wounded in the latest fighting against ISIL.

The operation has also targeted a Kurdish militia whose presence along its border Turkey sees as a threat.

Today's Idiot
A note warning people about snitches, though not the Quidditch variety, led police to discover that the owner of the residence was dealing drugs.

Deputies for the Fayette County Sheriff's Department responded to a joyriding complaint at a residence in Oak Hill, West Virginia at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. When the deputies approached the residence, they took note of a bright pink sign posted on the front door, warning that everyone entering the home is subject to arrest "due to snitches."

"Due to snitches everyone entering my home is subject to being searched," the note reads. "All cell phones and drinks will be left outside!! If you're not a snitch, it won't offend you if I search you!"
Displaying for all the world to see that someone's got something to hide.
The note led deputies to believe drugs were being trafficked in at the residence.

"In addition to conducting their investigation into the joyriding complaint, deputies questioned the occupants about drug sales and obtained consent to search the residence," the department wrote on Facebook. "This search resulted in the seizure of quantities of both heroin and methamphetamine, as well as various other unknown substances that were believed to be narcotics."

The homeowner, April Lynn Lavender, 38, was read her rights and charged with the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Lavender was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
"How the **** did you ever figure it out, fuzz?"
Kristie Weis, 22, was given matching bracelets and charged with the misdemeanor offense of joyriding, and was also checked in at the Gray-Bar Hotel in lieu of $1,500 bond.

"While drug investigations often require a great deal of time and effort, sometimes the criminals make our job pretty easy," said Sheriff Kessler. "If someone posts a sign on their front door about searching 'snitches,' it's a pretty safe bet that there are illegal drugs being sold out of that location."

Billy Bush Suspended From ‘Today’ After Lewd Trump Tape Scandal
[THEDAILYBEAST] The days of Billy Bush’s life are rapidly going from bad to worse. Bush, the first cousin of President George W. Bush and former Florida governor Jeb Bush, has been indefinitely suspended from the third hour of the Today show, NBC’s venerable morning franchise that he officially joined as a co-anchor a mere two months ago--disciplinary action for his role in a crude and sexist conversation he had with Donald Trump 11 years ago when he was hosting Access Hollywood.

Bush’s suspension was announced Sunday night by Noah Oppenheim, senior vice president in charge of Today, in a "Dear TODAY family" memo to the staff.

"I know we’ve all been deeply troubled
...meaning it might require more than two 'tuts'. If the other side responds at all it's known as a 'tut for tat' and it's worth 20 diplomatic points..
by the revelations of the past 48 hours," Oppenheim wrote. "Let me be clear--there is simply no excuse for Billy’s language and behavior on that tape. NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further review of this matter.

Police release video, seek two men after kidnapping, sexual assault of Joco deputy
[KANSASCITY] As authorities continued their search for two men for questioning in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a Johnson County sheriff’s deputy, authorities on Sunday released video of the car believed to have been used in the abduction.

The deputy, who is in her 20s and has only been with the sheriff’s office for six months, was kidnapped about 11:30 p.m. Friday from a parking lot as she was headed into work at Central Booking at 101 N. Kansas Ave. in downtown Olathe.

The deputy, who was out of uniform at the time of the abduction, did not know her abductors, said Darla Jaye, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

The deputy’s abductors released her about 1:30 a.m., dropping her off near Interstate 470 and Northeast Woods Chapel Road in Lee’s Summit. She found her way to the nearby Jackson County sheriff’s headquarters at 4001 N.E. Lakewood Court in Lee’s Summit, Jaye said.

Authorities believe that two men in a dark blue Mazda saw and followed her from the QuikTrip convenience store near Santa Fe Street and Interstate 35 for 1.5 miles, Jaye said.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video of the car driving through the parking lot at the QuikTrip hoping that someone might recognize the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office is looking to identify and speak with the men, whom they are calling "persons of interest."

No description of the men was available. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
they are believed to be in their 20s.

Provincial officials said Sunday at least 20 Death Eaters including loyalists of ISIS terrorist group were killed during the latest operations.

The officials further added at least 40 bandidos myrmidons including the loyalists of the terror group were maimed during the same operations.

Provincial governor’s front man Mohammad Reza Ghafoori confirmed the reports and said the operations are still underway in parts of Darzab and Qoshtapa districts where the ISIS and Taliban deaths have been reported.

He said the Afghan forces have managed to control of at least one village during the festivities so far and operations are still underway in two other villages.

Ghafoori however did not disclose further information regarding the possible casualties of the Afghan cops during the operations.

Reports regarding ISIS deaths in Jawzjan have been rare although local officials in northern provinces have confirmed the presence of the loyalists of the terror group in the past.

Abu Sayyaf leader with $100,000 bounty arrested
[Gulf Today] An Abu Sayyaf leader with a $100,000 bounty on his head was arrested for his alleged involvement in the plan to launch terrorist attacks to disrupt an ongoing religious festival in Zamboanga City. Regional police chief Billy Beltran identified the suspect as Abdul-latip Suwaling Talanghari, also known as "Tatang," a title of respect meaning "father" among Filipinos.

Beltran said security forces arrested Talanghari along with another suspect, Albasitrie Talanghari, during a raid on their safehouse in a village in Zamboanga City late on Friday night. Confiscated from the suspects were several firearms and improvised bombs which authorities believe were to be used to sow terror during the month-long celebration in October of a Catholic religious festival in the city, according to Beltran.

The attacks were to be co-ordinated with three other Abu Sayyaf militants earlier arrested by the police in the city five days ago, according to Beltran. He disclosed that Talanghari has long been wanted for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of 19 foreigners and two Filipinos from a resort in the Malaysian state of Sabah in 2000 and then brought them to Sulu.

On Friday, three members of another notorious cell known as the Maute Group, who were linked to the September 2 bombing of a popular night market in Davao City, hometown of President Duterte, were arrested. Police said the Maute Group launched the attack to divert attention on the government’s intensified search and destroy operation against the Abu Sayyaf.

#4  Always thought they were worth a look for this kind of thing alone:

Ehtirám-i sag; or “great respect for the dog;” is a command among Zoroastrians. In Zoroastrianism, the dog is regarded as an especially benevolent, and virtuous creature, which must be fed and lovingly taken care of. The dog is praised for loyalty, intelligence and having special spiritual virtues.

Dogs receive a striking degree of attention in the “legal” (dâtîc) books of the Avesta, notably in the “Vi-dêv-dâd” and the “Dvâsrôb” or the 16th Nask/Volume of the Avesta, the contents of which are known from Dênkart (q.v.) 8. Detailed prescriptions for the appropriate treatment of dogs are found in the Vi-dêv-dâd (one of the legal Avestan scriptures), especially in chapters 13, 14 and 15, where the faithful are required to assist dogs, both domestic and stray, in various ways. Help or harm to a dog is equated with help and harm to a human. Responsibility toward dogs is repeatedly linked with responsibility toward humans.

German police raid second flat in search of Chemnitz bomb suspect
[DW] German police on Sunday stormed another apartment in the eastern city of Chemnitz, detaining a man allegedly connected to a Syrian refugee suspected of planning a kaboom.

"Nobody was injured, and no shots were fired. We've taken the man into custody and we are questioning him now," said Tom Berhardt, front man for the criminal investigation office in Saxony.

Police on Saturday raided the apartment of 22-year-old Syrian refugee Jaber al-Bakr, discovering "several hundred grams" of "explosive substance more dangerous than TNT" at his residence.

Despite several leads on the suspect's whereabouts, authorities have yet to capture the Syrian man, who allegedly escaped during the raid.

"We are following numerous tips, but unfortunately we don't have a hot lead yet," Berhardt said. "We must continue to assume that this person poses a danger."

'Islamist-oriented'
The federal prosecutor's office on Sunday took over the investigation, saying the "overall picture" suggests an "Islamist-motivated attack," according to a spokeswoman.

Although explosives had been discovered at the refugee's residence, Bernhardt said it did not necessarily mean the suspect was involved with the "Islamic State

#1  Jaber al-Bakr has been arrested a few hours ago in Leipzig.
Posted by: European Conservative || 10/10/2016 1:52 Comments || Top||

#2  Thank you for the update, European Conservative. I just checked Deutsche Welle, which now reports:

German police in Saxony said early Monday that they had arrested 22-year-old Jaber A. in the eastern German city of Leipzig following a tip off from the Syrian community. Syrians who had been holding the suspect at an apartment in Leipzig contacted police who "immediately went there and arrested him," Saxony police spokesman Tom Bernhardt said. He added that police aren't giving further details "because we do not want to provoke any dangers for those persons who gave us the tip."

Police have only said that the man was originally from the Damascus area of Syria and had been granted refugee status after arriving in Germany last year.

Questions remain, however, as to how Jaber A. was able to evade police, as he was at home when they raided his Chemnitz apartment at about 7 a.m. local time (0500 UTC) on Saturday. Officers reportedly spotted him and even fired at least one warning shot, but he was still able to slip away.
During the search, German police boosted security around the country, particularly around "critical infrastructure" like train stations and airports.

#3  And from The Times of Israel:

He was finally caught after police learnt that he had sought help from two Syrians in Leipzig, Spiegel Online reported.

Police subsequently arrested him in the early hours of Monday in the two Syrians’ apartment.

Albakr was believed to have had internet contact with the Islamic State group, Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported, but police have not commented on his possible motivation or the bomb plot’s target.

On Saturday morning, as police prepared to raid the apartment building in the eastern city of Chemnitz where Albakr was staying, he was observed leaving the premises, Saxony police spokesman Tom Bernhardt told The Associated Press Sunday.

Police fired a warning shot but were unable to stop him, Bernhardt said, confirming German media reports. They thought he had turned back into the building but wasn’t the case, he said.

Bernhardt also confirmed reports that Albakr had come to Germany in the flood of 890,000 migrants who entered the country in 2015 and had been granted asylum.

Nobody was in the apartment when police SWAT teams blew down the door Saturday, but investigators found “several hundred grams” of a volatile explosive hidden in the flat, enough to cause significant damage, Bernhardt said.

“With this highly volatile explosive, even a few hundred grams is no trifle,” he said. “For an explosive of this type, it was a considerable amount.”

He said experts were still trying to determine whether it was the same explosive used in the deadly November 13 attacks in Paris and the March 22 attacks in Brussels known as TATP, or triacetone triperoxide.

Three people who rented the apartment were apprehended Saturday, and one of the men was was questioned as a possible co-conspirator, Bernhardt said.

He said the man in custody was Albakr’s “countryman,” but wouldn’t give other details.

The other two men were released.

Another man who knew Albakr was taken into custody for questioning Sunday afternoon in a raid on his Chemnitz apartment.

#5  The latest:

From The Times of Israel:

The suspect approached his fellow countrymen at the Leipzig main train station and asked them if they could accommodate him, and they agreed.

Saxony criminal police chief Joerg Michaelis said that the three Syrians recognized Albakr from police wanted posters that had been distributed online and over social media.

He said two of the Syrians bound and held Albakr at their apartment while the other brought a mobile phone photo of Albakr to a local police station, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

And from Al Ahram, the description of several hundred grams of explosive was accurate, but woefully incomplete:

Federal prosecutors said in a release Monday that police found some 1.5 kilograms of an "extremely dangerous explosive" and other material in the apartment where 22-year-old Jaber Albakr had been staying in Chemnitz.

Afghanistan
Afghan army helicopter shot down in north of Afghanistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A helicopter of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces was shot down by the Talibs in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan.

Local officials in Baghlan have said the helicopter was shot down as it was trying to provide logistics support to the ground forces in Dand-e-Ghori, close to the quiet provincial capital of Pul-e-Khumri city.

The officials further added that the check post to which the helicopter was trying to deliver weapons is under siege by the Taliban myrmidons.

There are no exact reports regarding the casualties as a result of the incident but preliminary reports suggest at least on board the helicopter have bit the dust.

India-Pakistan
No role for militancy in Pakistan’s policy-making
[DAWN] There’s no role for militancy in policy-making and non-state actors cannot be allowed to operate from the Pak territory, says a parliamentary delegation from Pakistain, which completed its five-day visit to the US capital on Saturday.

In a briefing to Pak, and later an Indian, journalists at the end of their visit, the prime minister’s special envoys on Kashmire also said that the United States was doing "positive pushing and prodding" for reducing tensions between India and Pakistain.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, one of the two envoys sent to the United States to present Pakistain’s case on Kashmire, said that they would not be surprised if Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally came to Islamabad to attend the Saarc summit "and embrace Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
".

"There is no alternative for talks. And this is a message that the Americans are also sending to both India and Pakistain," said the other envoy, MNA Shezra Mansab Ali, while explaining why she believed India and Pakistain would soon engage one another for reducing tensions.

A Pak media report that the civilian government sent a blunt message to the country’s military leadership last week, saying that Pakistain would be completely isolated if it did not stop cross-border Death Eater attacks, also echoed at the briefing.

Senator Syed said that there was complete consensus on this issue in parliament, where all parties have jointly drafted a 22-point resolution, asking the government to end militancy. "There is no role for militancy in policy- making and non-state actors cannot be allowed to operate from the Pak territory," he said

The militancy, particularly cross-border attacks, was an issue that the delegation had to confront at almost each of more than a dozen meetings it attended in Washington.

Since Sept 18, when murderous Moslems attacked a military facility in Uri and killed at least 18 Indian soldiers, the US State Department, the White House and the Pentagon have almost daily spoken about the situation in held Kashmire and the consequent tensions between India and Pakistain.

In these statements, US officials regularly mentioned the Uri attack, calling it an act of "cross-border terrorism" and urging Pakistain to stop these attacks.

US officials and think tank experts also raised this issue with the Pak parliamentary delegation, reminding it of the need to end cross-border attacks if Pakistain wants its stance on Kashmire to be heard.

HRW urges Iraqi PM to exclude 'abusive' militias from Mosul operation

(ISIS) myrmidons.

The letter strongly opposed the inclusion of several Popular Mobilization Forces (PMFs or Hashd al-Shaabi) Shiite militias in the Mosul operation. Previous abuses carried out by the Hashd al-Shaabi against Sunni Arab civilians in the recapture of Fallujah from ISIS in June were documented by HRW -- abuses which included torture, summary executions and the disappearance of civilians, including children, and the mutilation of corpses.

These abuses, and the recruitment of child soldiers by groups in Hashd, led HRW to urge Abadi to "prevent armed forces under his command or control who have been implicated in laws of war violations, including the Badr Brigades, the Hezbollah Brigades (Kata'ib Hezbollah), and other groups with the Population Mobilization Forces, from participating in planned operations to retake Mosul."

HRW also pointed out that an estimated 1.2 million civilians are estimated to be in Mosul ahead of this upcoming operation.

"Civilians in Mosul have suffered under ISIS rule for more than two years and will need support if the city is retaken, but risk reprisals instead," said the deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa, Lama Fakih in an HRW statement. "The last thing the authorities should allow is for abusive forces to carry out Dire Revenge attacks in an atmosphere of impunity."

Peshmerga and Shiite militia will stay out of Mosul, Kurdish official says

(ISIS) will not enter the city, a Kurdish official stressed.
In that case I suspect nobody's getting in.
Saeed Mamuzini also said that, as part of its preparations, ISIS has dug tunnels and trenches across Mosul and is filling the trenches with crude oil in a bid to halt the opposition forces from breaking into the city.

"According to a recent agreement between Baghdad and Erbil, Peshmerga forces and the Hashd al-Shaabi will stay out of Mosul, but the army and federal police are authorized to enter, in case if they do not need the Peshmerga," Mamuzini added.

He pointed out that it is important for the Peshmerga to preserve and defend the Kurdish areas in the Nineveh plains during the battle, which is highly anticipated to start this month.

"It does not matter if there is an agreement or not, the Peshmerga is committed to defending the Kurdish inhabited areas in the Nineveh province," Mamuzini said.

Mamuzini, who is media officer of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for Mosul, said that ISIS is also preparing to fight back the coming assault with boom-mobiles and jacket wallahs.

"ISIS has also brought in many Lions of Islam to the Bashik front as reinforcement," he explained, referring to the front southeast of Mosul, which briefly fell into ISIS’ hands in late 2014 and was retaken by the Peshmerga a few months later.

Mamuzini said that ISIS has divided its Lions of Islam according to their nationalities. "The German Lions of Islam have been ordered to carry out media affairs and foreign Arabs to carry out suicide kabooms," he explained. "The ex-Baathists will be fighters on the ground and the city’s populations will be used as human shields."

The KDP official also stated, based on information he obtained from locals inside Mosul, that several local opposition cells exist inside the city, ready to fight ISIS once the assault begins.

"Secret opposition groups inside Mosul are operating against ISIS leaders and hard boys. For example, two ISIS Lions of Islam were bumped off with silent pistols at the Qahira neighborhood today," he explained.

ISIS overran Mosul in June 2014 when the terrorist group swept into a third of Iraq, and Iraqi army forces in the city melted away in the face of the onslaught.

Comments by military officials suggest that the offensive on Mosul will come sometime this month.

province of Afghanistan.

According to the security authorities, the Arclight airstrikes were conducted in different parts of the province, including Nazian and Haska Mina districts.

The officials further added that the loyalists of the terror group were targeted in the Arclight airstrikes on Saturday night.

At least 31 of the faceless myrmidons were killed in Haroon Baba area of Haska Mina district, the officials, said adding that 3 others were killed in a separate Arclight airstrike in Nazian district.

This comes as at least 9 loyalists of the terror group were killed in a similar Arclight airstrike in Achin district on Friday.

Nangarhar is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where both the Taliban holy warriors and faceless myrmidons loyal to ISIS terrorist group are actively operating.

Both the Afghan forces and the US forces in Afghanistan are conducting regular raids against the Taliban holy warriors and ISIS loyalist in the districts where they are conducting insurgency activities.

The US forces increased Arclight airstrikes against the Taliban holy warriors and ISIS loyalists earlier this year after the B.O. regime granted a broader role to the American forces.

in Bangladesh, has finally been identified by local Sherlocks.

"We have finally identified Hanif after analysing statements of different members of New Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB)," Sanowar Hossain, additional deputy commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime, told the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.

"Earlier, we thought Hanif and Tamim Chowdhury were the same person but before conducting the drive in Tamim’s den in Narayanganj, we had some idea that they were different people.

"We suspect that Hanif is hiding in some hard boy den of New JMB. But we also have information that he is almost powerless in the outfit as he does not make any operational decisions," ADC Sanowar said.

He said Death Eaters used their organizational names for everyday use, which has caused some trouble in tracing Hanif.

Tamim was the operation wing leader before he was killed; then the mantle went to Akash, who was killed on Saturday in a drive in Patartek, Gazipur.

"Now we suspect that the operational leadership of the outfit will be taken up by either Nurul Islam Marjan or Basharuzzaman."

Divisional leaders still elude law
Asked about the present status of New JMB, Sanowar said although a number of New JMB leaders and members had been killed recently, it still is not weakened as the group has leaders for all eight divisions ‐ Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Barisal, Khulna, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymenshingh. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
there was no evidence that these divisional leaders were carrying out any operational activities.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Arab-Israeli Hamasnik ran amok with gun in Jerusalem, killed two before being shot dead
More on the story g(r)omgoru posted yesterday.
[Ynet] A police officer and a 60-year-old woman were killed and five injured Sunday morning after a terrorist committed a shooting near a cop shoppe next to the Ammunition Hill light rail station in Jerusalem.

According to a police report released shortly after the incident, the terrorist, who had previously served five prison sentences for a variety of offense including aggravated battery, illicit military training and setting fire to vehicles, opened fire from within his vehicle on people standing by the station situated opposite police headquarters.

The terrorist--later identified as a 39 year old from the East Jerusalem neigborhood of Silwan and a full Israeli citizen--then expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, continuing his rampage as he shot two people sitting in their car.

He then proceeded in the direction of Tomb of Simeon the Just in Sheikh Jarrah where he stopped his vehicle and began shooting at riot police pursuing him on cycle of violences. One of the officers, who was later identified as 1st Sgt. Yosef Kirma, was critically injured during the shootout and died from his wounds shortly thereafter. Another policeman was also lightly maimed in the fire exchange.

Israel Border Police spotted the terrorist before shooting him dead.

Security forces began conducting searches for additional suspects, setting up a number of roadblocks in the area.

Paramedics arrived on the scene where they treated multiple victims, one of whom was left at death's door and one at death's door. Another 3 were moderately maimed while two women sustained light injuries. An additional 3 victims were taken to hospital and treated for shock.

IDF troops clash with protesters at house of Jerusalem terrorist

[IsraelTimes] IDF solders are clashing with Palestinian protesters in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan at the home of the gunman who was killed carrying out a terrorist attack in Jerusalem this morning.

Palestinian media is also reporting clashes in the Salah A-Din neighborhood of Jerusalem and the Shuafat refugee camp just outside of the capital.
Another Times of Israel article adds:
Hamas claimed he was a member of the organization after his deadly attack. He was also apparently connected to the Murabitun group, an Islamic Movement organization that hassles non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Authority said the attacker’s brother was known to the Israeli security establishment, and was arrested in the Old City on Sunday.
Yet another Times of Israel article adds:
The killer, who reportedly used an Israeli army-issue M-16 machine-gun, had “lots and lots of ammunition,” says Halevy, and was headed to the center of town, where “he would have killed lots of people.”
Ma'an names the dead miscreant:
The slain gunman responsible for a shooting attack in occupied East Jerusalem Sunday morning that left two Israelis killed and several injured told Ma'an the day before the shooting that he was planning on turning himself in to Israeli authorities to serve a prison sentence for prior charges.

Misbah Abu Sbeih, 39, from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, who also lived in the village of al-Ram, told Ma'an via telephone Saturday that he had decided to turn himself into the Israeli Ramla prison at 10 a.m. on Sunday to serve a four-month prison sentence for allegedly assaulting an Israeli police officer.

According to Harakat Ahrar al-Sham's media wing, their forces expelled Jund al-Aqsa from the villages of Fayloun, Koureen, and Musaybeen on Sunday morning.

Several jihadist rebel groups have called on Jund al-Aqsa members to abandon their organization and join up with another allied force in the northern Hama countryside.

Jund al-Aqsa is currently leading the large-scale offensive in the northern Hama countryside, despite the fact they are under attack by local rebel groups in Idlib.

Iraq
ISIS recaptures Sharqat after attacking it from 2 axes
(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – The Islamic State group managed to recapture the mayor’s office of Sharqat district in Salahuddin Province, Bas News reported on Saturday.
Not quite the entire city, then.
The media outlet stated that ISIS recaptured the center of Sharqat district, mayor’s office and the entertainment city, after attacking the district from two axes and sneaking from the left coast of the city.

“There are ongoing violent clashes with the ISIS members that killed three members of the security forces and wounded two others so far,” Bas News explained. “The Iraqi forces started to reinforce their troops and ranks to control the situation,” Bas News added.

#7  Hillary Clinton practiced to win the debate. Donald Trump was marketing himself to the television audience. Mr. Wife commented repeatedly that the moderators did a terrible job -- they had no control and he noted once that they were siding with Secretary Clinton.

#14  Breitbart: Trump Camp In Israel:

We Still Support Him Despite Lewd Comments; He’s Not Running For Chief Rabbi

Marc Zell said that he and his five daughters will be voting for Trump, and maintained that the majority of the 200,000 registered U.S. voters in Israel – half of whom are women –would still support Trump “with all of his shortcomings.”

“I’m saying he doesn’t need to [resign]. He did what he did. His comments are disgusting and absolutely unacceptable, we are against it,” Zell told Israel’s Army Radio. But “he said he’s not perfect, he apologized.”

He added that there is “no chance” Trump will quit.

#16  Trump delivered and kicked ass. At the beginning of the debate, Trump should have reminded Anderson Cooper of his own locker-room talk (except that it was not confined to the locker room) in 2009: "After CNN’s senior political analyst David Gergen remarked that Republicans were “searching for their voice” after two electoral losses, Cooper quipped, “It’s hard to talk when you’re tea-bagging.”

#17  The RINOs always get weak-kneed every time something gets revealed and they call for Trump to step down. Why do these same RINOs not call for Hillary to step down after Hillary lied about Benghazi, her emails, and all the other things she has done and lied about? Why don't the Dems call for sleazy, crooked Hillary to step down.

#18  IMHO, no matter who wins the Presidency this time around, the American public will bear the brunt of a serious $hit-storm. Doubt the problems out there can be rolled-over much longer.

For those who were entertained by the post-election results of the Bush/Gore circus, strap yourselves in - this one is going to be a doozy.

Thanks to squishy "W" who set the stage for the anti-American Bozo who followed him in the name of "change."

#28  OK, but what was up with Trump's sniffing? You know, there are people who will ask if that means he snorts cocaine. I'm wondering if they had his microphone jiggered to amplify it.

He started a little slow and tentative, most likely because the first ten or fifteen minutes were more like a public crucifixion than a debate. But when they finally moved out of the locker room he got better. I am super sick of that shit eating grin of hers whenever he starts hitting too close to home. She is guilty as sin.

Europe
German 'IS' militant who claimed to be bystander shown preparing hostages for execution
Whoops!
[DW] Former German "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
" (IS) jihadist Harry S. has consistently maintained since his July 2015 arrest that he was never an active participant in the violence during his 4-month stay in Syria, insisting that he had been a bystander in propaganda videos and had never even completed his military training.

He may have to amend his story, however, after video footage surfaced on Monday showing the former bully boy shuffling hostages in Palmyra into formation for a public execution and then alongside his fellows joining hands, chanting in unison. In the footage uncovered by German broadcaster ZDF, Harry S. is also depicted encouraging the crowd to cheer shortly before the men are summarily shot.

Before Monday's revelations, the 28-year-old had regaled the Hamburg court where he is currently on trial with harrowing stories that made him become disillusioned with IS and wish to return home to Germany.

"I witnessed stonings, beheadings, shootings, hands chopped off and many other things," he said in an interview before the trial.

"I've seen child soldiers, 13-year-old boys with boom belts and Kalashnikovs. Some boys even driving cars and involved in executions," he added.

Frequent run-ins with police
According to the Washington Post, the ex-jihadist's lawyer appeared just as surprised as the public to learn that Harry S. had been less than truthful when he said he had "stood on the side" of the violence and "said no to the killing" when other Lions of Islam suggested they shoot the hostages.

Attorney Udo Wurtz said he was "not sure it will change his sentence," however, the Post quoted him as saying.

Even before his arrest, Harry S. was well known to authorities in the city of Bremen, having committed a number of petty crimes in his teens before eventually robbing a super market. After a few years of living in London and converting to Islam, he was placed in durance vile

in Germany in 2012 for failing to pay probation fines. He spent a brief stint in prison where he told Radio Bremen he was radicalized by fellow inmates.

Official estimates suggest that around 870 Germans have traveled to Syria or Iraq to join Islamic murderous Moslems. According to ZDF, around 270 have returned.
