Gabon: Participants in national dialogue complete work
[AFRICANEWS] Gabonese delegates taking part in the national dialogue completed their mission on Saturday (Apr. 28).

The talks sought to lay the groundwork for restoring civilian rule.

Gabon entered a period of transition after a coup last year.

"We discussed about the Gabon of the future, the post-transition Gabon. It was a unique experience; a historic experience and we are satisfied and happy about what happened during this forum," Dr Eric Simon Nzué Obiang, the chair of one of the dialogue's sub-committees.

The forum's highly anticipated report clears ruling General Brice Oligui Nguema to vye for the presidency in the polls to be held at the end of the transition.

It proposes a strong presidential regime and a 7-year term for the president.

Participants kept another controversial proposal: suspending political parties pending the issuance of stricter political rules.

"Gabon is not cut off from the world. We are part of an international environment and, international legislation are against suspending political parties," Joël Ngouenini, the head of a political party said.

Selected military officials, politicians, civil society members, youth leaders, traditional rulers and members of the clergy took part in the national dialogue which kicked off on April 2nd.

They kept the transition's 2-year time frame. A year was however added in case of a "force majeur" scenario.

The delegates recommended the oil-producer pursing nation pursue a new and more diversified industrial policy.

They also suggested prioritizing local production by supporting SMEs and nationalizing outsourcing.

On the welfare part, they advocated better funding of the health sector and more health infrastructures.

Reforms regarding vocational training, food security, were also.

Some 30,000 proposals were discussed by the delegate during the nearly one-month long delegate.

For now, the one that made it to the report are still mere recommendations. The report will be handed to the president of the transition on April 30.

Gabon's post-transition timeframe provides for a constituent assembly to write the new Constitution. The document establishing the basic rules and laws of the Gabonese government will then be put to a vote during a referendum scheduled in June this year.

Africa Horn
Fuel shortages force UN to halt South Sudan food delivery
[AFRICANEWS] Over 60,000 people in South Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans. The country is currently enjoying a civil war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which used to be part of the army but then they got another ambitious general and you can guess the rest...
are desperately hungry as aid delivery halts because of fuel shortages, says the UN. The pause in food delivery happened because the UN doesn't have enough fuel.

This happened after the government decided to charge taxes on supplies brought in by UN agencies and other international groups.

Since February, the government of South Sudan has been adding new taxes and fees at its borders and within the country. Last week, they promised the UN that they wouldn't tax their supplies, but nothing has changed yet.

If the government doesn't lift these taxes, by the end of May, 145,000 people could be affected, warns the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Ocha).

Anita Kiki Gbeho, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for South Sudan, urgently asked the government to remove these taxes. She reminded them of the agreement they had made to support those in need.

"We need the government to act quickly to prevent aid operations from stopping," she said.

The UN says around 9 million people in South Sudan will need help. Around 7.1 million of them might not have enough food during the lean season this year.

Togo's parliamentary election tests proposal to prolong dynasty's rule
[AFRICANEWS] The opposition and religious leaders say the legislation is an effort by President Faure Gnassingbe, in office since 2005, to prolong his rule. Lawmakers passed the legislation in March after their mandate expired, and it is close to being enacted.

The West African nation has been ruled by the same family for 57 years, initially by Eyadema Gnassingbe and then his son. Faure Gnassingbe took office after elections that the opposition described as a sham. The opposition says the proposed new constitution makes it likely that Gnassingbe will stay on when his mandate expires in 2025.

Authorities cracked down on civic and media freedoms ahead of Monday's vote. Early this month, the government banned protests against the proposed new constitution and the arrest of opposition figures. The electoral commission has banned the Catholic Church from deploying election observers.

In mid-April, a French journalist who arrived to cover the elections was arrested, assaulted and expelled. Togo's media regulator later suspended the accreditation process for foreign journalists.

Some 4.2 million Togolese were registered to vote in the country of about 8 million people. Voters were electing candidates for 113 parliamentary seats — 22 more than in the previous assembly — and for the first time filling 179 senatorial positions. Preliminary results were expected within six days.

Togo’s authorities sealed the borders on Monday for security reasons and dispatched some 12,000 gendarmes and coppers to safeguard the voting process.

Amid a rise in the spread of disinformation during elections in West Africa, authorities warned against disseminating false results or other misleading news.

In explosive NA speech, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl backs PTI's political rights
[GEO.TV] In his first speech on the National Assembly’s floor, Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
...Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty. Fazl seldom misses a meal and is now so large he has his own gravitational pull...
blasted the government, outcomes of the 2024 nationwide elections, parliamentarians, bureaucracy, and the establishment on Monday.

"Neither bureaucracy nor establishment has a role in the creation of the country," Maulana Fazl said while delivering a speech on the assembly’s floor today, adding that Pakistain was created through a democratic struggle and sacrifices but it stood nowhere in terms of political and economic stability.

He criticised the ruling parties, saying: "Is this a parliament of representatives of the nation or a setup arranged by the establishment?"

"How our conscience is satisfied [after the general elections], as the losers are upset, and even the winners are not satisfied [with the poll results]."
Fazlu rehman speach NA

During his speech, the politician-cum-holy man backed Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

(PTI) big shot Asad Qaiser’s demand for granting the right to the latter’s party to organise public gatherings, terming it the Imran-founded party’s "constitutional right".

The PTI politicians in the National Assembly thumped their desks in support of Maulana Fazl’s remarks.

He went on to say that democracy in the country was weakened after politicians "compromised" on their principles on every occasion and now, the parliament has lost its supremacy as they cannot even pass a law independently.

Fazl also said that back-to-back "full and partial" martial laws have also shaken the democratic foundations of the country by ousting elected governments.

He pointed out that the ruling Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) was a witness to how a law related to an agreement between the federal government and seminaries had not been passed despite being tabled in the assembly with consensus.

The JUI-F supremo said that they raised objections on the 2018 general polls just like they opposed the 2024 nationwide elections, terming it similarly "fraudulent" as the politicians "sold out the democracy" due to the country coming to a "standstill".

The politico, who headed a multi-party alliance — Pakistain Democratic Movement (PDM) — which successfully ousted the former prime minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...

Britain
Ex-PM Imran Khan's aide Shahzad Akbar sues Pakistani govt over acid attack in UK
[GEO.TV] Shahzad Akbar, the former federal minister and ex-adviser to deposed prime minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
, is taking legal action against the government of Pakistain over an acid attack that left him "scarred for life".

Acid was thrown at his face when he opened his door to a caller at his home in England’s Royston town on November 26, 2023.

He believes only his glasses, and his slamming the door shut prevented him from being blinded.

On Monday afternoon, Akbar served a copy of his legal action to the Pakistain High Commission in London. This news hound has seen a copy of the legal claim of over 15 pages. It names several Pakistain government officials as responsible for the attack.

Akbar claimed in the letter the government of Pakistain was behind the attack, which happened in front of his young child, and has left him scarred and with psychological injuries.

Akbar sent the Pak government a letter outlining the claim that he intends to bring against it at the High Court in London.

Akbar, aged 46, was an adviser to Imran Khan until three months before the prime minister was ousted in April 2022.

A blurb issued by the law firm representing the former adviser said Akbar highlighted how the powerful elements interfered with his accountability and anti-corruption objectives when he was the federal minister.

"Realising that the issue was systematic and that he could not fix the rampant corruption in Pakistain, he resigned from Khan’s government in January 2022," it says.

It adds: "Shortly after Khan was ousted, Shahzad was placed on a no-fly list. His name was removed from the list after he was successful in a court challenge. On 17 April 2022, he fled to London via Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to avoid being targeted by Pakistain and/or its agents.

"In December 2022, Shahzad settled in the UK and took on an in-house lawyer position with a UK company based in London. He claims that the government of Pakistain has continued to target him through acts of transnational repression."

The former minister claimed that in October 2023, he was informed by his acquaintances that the Pakistain High Commission in London was attempting to trace his home address.

In November 2023, Shahzad received a letter from the Pakistain High Commission demanding information about a confidential agreement involving the UK National Crime Agency.

The blurb says: "Two weeks later, on 26 November 2023, Shahzad suffered the acid attack. His wife and daughters were at home with him when the attacker struck. The assailant aimed acid from a bottle at Shahzad’s face, injuring his face, head and right arm. If it were not for his glasses, the acid would have also injured Shahzad’s eyes, likely causing permanent partial or complete blindness. Shahzad reacted quickly and slammed his front door. His skin began to melt, and he was in excruciating pain.

"Shahzad’s wife called 999 and the fire and rescue service hosed him down outside his home, in almost-freezing temperatures. Uncertain if the substance used was deadly, the emergency services took Shahzad to the Addenbrookes Hospital, in Cambridge. The attack has caused discolouration and/or hyperpigmentation of the areas of skin burned by the acid. Shahzad claims the attack was perpetrated and/or directed by Pakistain and/or its agents."

Akbar named Pakistain activists who were targeted abroad including Ahmad Waqas Goraya, Gul Bukhari, Fazal Khan and Arshad Sharif.

The Hertfordshire police had confirmed that Akbar had reported the acid assault on November 26 but the police have not charged anyone in the investigation.

'We will protect your freedom,' Canada PM Trudeau tells Sikhs
[GEO.TV] Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
...hereditary prime minister of the Great White North...
has assured nearly a million Canadians of Sikh heritage that his government will always be there to protect their rights and freedom, as tens of thousands raised slogans in support of Khalistan before the former on the occasion of Khalsa Day on Sunday in Toronto.

In the videos released by Sikh groups, chants of "Khalistan Zindabad" and tribute to "Shaheed Hardeep Singh Nijjar" can be heard during the speech of PM Trudeau who looked on whilst a charged congregation of Sikhs raised slogans.

Pro-Khalistan slogans were also raised in the presence of opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and prominent Canadian Sikh leader Jagmeet Singh, chief of the New Democratic Party. All of them spoke to the Sikh crowd.

Trudeau told the crowd: "The story of the Sikh community in Canada is, in fact, the story of Canada...To the nearly 800 thousand Canadians of Sikh heritage across this country, we will always be there to protect your rights and your freedom, and we will always defend your community against hatred and discrimination."

The Canadian PM also said the country is enhancing the security and infrastructure programmes by "adding more security at community centres and places of worship, including Gurdwaras."

"Your right to practice your religion freely, and without intimidation is exactly that. A fundamental right guaranteed in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms that we will always stand up and defend you for," Trudeau assured the Sikh community in his Khalsa Day address in reference to the attacks Canadian Sikhs from the Indian govt.

Two Pakistanis arrested in Madina region for selling meth
[GEO.TV] At least two Pak nationals have been arrested during a raid against drug peddlers in Madinah region, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

The suspects were arrested for trading methamphetamine, the Saudi media reported adding that they were handed over to the public prosecution after completing preliminary legal procedures.

Several people have been arrested across Soddy Arabia

during raids against drug-peddlers and smugglers.

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority on Tuesday foiled bids to smuggle narcotics concealed in luggage through various ports.

In one attempt to carry the drugs, a truck entering the Kingdom through Duba Port had 93,750 narcotic tablets hidden in goods, while 356,559 other tablets were found in a consignment at Jeddah Islamic Port Customs. At al-Haditha port, 201,600 Captagon pills were recovered from cavity in floor of a vehicle.

The Customs Authority contacted the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to arrest the seven suspects to whom the consignment was to be delivered.

Separately, the General Directorate of Narcotics Control rounded up two narcos, a Pak and a Filipino, in Jeddah. They were trying to sell 2.6 kilogrammes of meth.

In another incident, the law enforcers nabbed a Pak national in Hafr al-Batin city for trying to sell meth.

IMF Executive Board okays $1.1bn loan tranche for Pakistan
[GEO.TV] The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Executive Board has approved the last tranche of $1.1 billion for Pakistain under the $3 billion Stand-By Arrangement (SBA), Geo News reported on Monday.

"The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed the second and final review of Pakistain’s economic reform program supported by the IMF’s Stand-By Arrangement (SBA)," the international lender said in an official statement issued on its website on Monday.

"The Board’s decision allows for an immediate disbursement of SDR 828 million (around $1.1 billion), bringing total disbursements under the arrangement to SDR 2.250 billion (about $3 billion)."

"Pakistain’s determined policy efforts under the 2023 Stand‑By Arrangement (SBA) have brought progress in restoring economic stability. Moderate growth has returned; external pressures have eased; and while still elevated, inflation has begun to decline. Given the significant challenges ahead, Pakistain should capitalize on this hard‑won stability, persevering—beyond the current arrangement—with sound macroeconomic policies and structural reforms to create stronger, inclusive, and sustainable growth. Continued external support will also be critical," said Antoinette Sayeh, Deputy Managing Director and Chair.

"The State Bank of Pakistain’s tight monetary policy stance remains appropriate until inflation returns to more moderate levels. Further improvements in the functioning of the foreign exchange (FX) market, together with a market‑determined exchange rate, will help buffer external shocks and attract financing, thereby supporting competitiveness and growth. The significant rebuilding of FX reserves under the SBA needs to continue. Moreover, stronger action to address undercapitalized financial institutions and, more broadly, vigilance over the financial sector are needed to ensure financial stability."

4 Cops Killed and AP is There with the Misinformation
[AP via Lucianne] An AR-15 automatic rifle, a 40-caliber handgun and ammunition were found at the scene.

An AR-15 is able to penetrate traditional body armor and allowed the shooter to "unload several rounds towards our officers within a matter of seconds,"

Quoting the police chief? Really?
The bones of the story:
4 officers killed in North Carolina were at disadvantage as shots rained from above, police say

Law enforcement officers with an arrest warrant demanded that a man come out of a house in North Carolina before four were killed by gunfire, the victims unable to survive shots coming from inside the dwelling, a witness and officials said Tuesday.

Still reeling from Monday’s attack — the deadliest against U.S. law enforcement officers since 2016 — investigators in Charlotte said they weren’t sure whether there was a second shooter and that more work was needed to determine a precise timeline of events.

A task force made up of officers from different agencies had arrived in the residential neighborhood to try to capture Terry Clark Hughes Jr., 39, who was wanted for possession of a firearm by an ex-felon and fleeing to elude in Lincoln County, North Carolina.

Those killed were identified as Sam Poloche and William Elliott of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections; Charlotte-Mecklenburg Officer Joshua Eyer; and Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks. Four other officers were wounded in the shootout, and Hughes was also killed.

Why Are Democrats So Eager to Protect Pedophiles?
[PJ] If leftists want to prove they don't support pedophiles—much less try to add them to the protected LGBTDOJ alphabet label—they could start by punishing them when they attack kids. Yet the far-left, rather than punish those who brutalize kids, frequently treats kiddie-diddlers like victims.

Robert DeNiro Is Doing Dramatic Readings of Trump's Trial
[PJ] If there has ever been as clear a case of separating the art from the artist, I would nominate actor Robert DeNiro for that. He's done some amazing movies and roles like "The Godfather Part II," "Raging Bull," "Goodfellas," and others. Yet he is such a virulent hater of Donald Trump that it's not even amusing.

Would you believe me if I said that DeNiro is doing dramatic readings of Trump's trial up in New York for the whole Stormy Daniels "hush money" trial?

14-year-old dead, 4 others injured after sword-wielding attacker goes on rampage in London
[NY Post] pics at link
A man wielding a sword went on the attack in London early Tuesday, killing a 14-year-old boy and injuring at least four others, including two cops, after first driving a van into a house, according to authorities.

Shocking images show the unidentified suspect in a yellow hoodie holding the terrifying-looking weapon around 7 a.m. while walking through a street near Hainault Tube station in north-east London.

He was "running around with a samurai sword," one witness told the Telegraph.

Another heard a woman’s terrifying scream and then "the words, ’he’s got a massive knife,’ or ’he’s got a massive sword.'"

The first people stabbed were at a house where the suspect crashed his van into, according to cops, who did not elaborate on whether the property or its occupants were deliberately targeted.

The suspect "went on to attack other members of the public and two police officers," said a rep for the police force.

Stuart Bell, the chief superintendent of London’s Metropolitan Police, later announced "with great sadness" that a 14-year-old boy had died from his injuries.

"He was taken to hospital after being stabbed and sadly died a short while after," Bell said, sending thoughts to the boy’s family "at this unimaginably difficult time."

"The events of this morning are truly horrific and I cannot begin to imagine how all those affected must be feeling."

The other four people stabbed, including two cops, are in local hospitals but "thankfully their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening," Bell said.

A 36-year-old man was Tased and arrested at the scene, police said without identifying him.

Middle schoolers who protested trans athlete's participation are banned from future competitions
[NY Post] You will be made to care
Five West Virginia middle schoolers who protested a transgender athlete’s participation in a track and field competition have been barred from future meets — prompting the state attorney general to ask the US Supreme Court to weigh in on transgender student-athlete bans for a second time.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey filed a lawsuit against the Harrison County Board of Education on the dissenting students’ behalf after they were blocked from upcoming meets following their protests at the April 18 shot put competition, West Virginia Watch reported.

Five girls from Lincoln Middle School stepped up to the circle for their turn before refusing to throw in the event, which was won by Becky Pepper-Jackson, a 13-year-old girl who takes puberty-blocking medication and estrogen hormone therapy.

While West Virginia law bans transgender girls from playing on girls’ sports teams, a recent federal appeals court ruled that the law couldn’t lawfully be applied to the eighth-grader.

Judge Toby Heytens wrote that offering her a "choice" between not participating in sports and participating only on boys’ teams "is no real choice at all."

Despite the ruling, Morrisey has rallied against both the ruling and the treatment of the student-athletes who protested competing against Becky.

"Their actions at the earlier track meet were not disruptive or aggrandizing. They were the quiet demonstration of the student-athletes’ evident unhappiness with the competitive consequences of a federal appellate court’s decision," Morrisey, a Republican currently primarying for governor, wrote in the amicus brief filed April 26.

Joined by one of Becky’s classmates on Wednesday, Morrisey said he plans to ask the US Supreme Court to hear the case involving the state’s restrictions on transgender student-athletes for a second time.

Former collegiate swimmer-turned-activist Riley Gaines, who has been an outspoken critic of trans athletes participating in girls’ sporting events, has weighed in on the issue, writing, "These girls stood up for what they believed and their coach barred them from competing. Insane" in a post on X on Monday.

Morrisey quote-tweeted Gaines’ message, noting he plans to do "everything in my power to defend these brave young girls."

"This is just wrong. We must stand for what’s right and oppose these radical trans policies. Thanks to @Riley_Gaines_ for her leadership on this critical issue."

"A Safeguards Transporter (SGT) is a truck developed for and used by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), a semi-autonomous affiliate agency of the United States Department of Energy, for the ground transport of nuclear weapons in the contiguous United States. SGTs' trailers are known as Safe Secure Trailers (SST)."

If a SGT comes under attack, unspecified security features in the vehicles give them, according to the NNSA, the capability to "surprise and delay even the most aggressive adversary". The full range of defensive components in SGTs is unknown, but according to some media reports the vehicles are equipped with autonomous weapons systems and other "high-tech surprises" that allow them to independently engage and repel attackers even if all human crew have been killed or disabled. The NNSA has also stated that access to nuclear weapons held within a SST is not possible, even for crew members, due to unspecified security features that prevent the doors from being opened except in "an approved security area".[2][5][6]

Man, 31, accused of murder on Las Vegas strip and then EATING THE VICTIM'S FACE at a bus stop when police arrived
[DM] At around 4.45am on Sunday, Colin Czech, 31, was arrested on Las Vegas Boulevard after cops received a report of two men fighting in front of a business in the 1100 block.

When officers found the two men, near the 300 block of Charleston Boulevard, one of them was found unresponsive and bleeding from his head.

Officers also found Czech kneeling on the ground next to the victim with 'biological matter in his hair, mouth, and on his clothing,' KLAS reported, citing documents.
Ewwwww!
He reportedly told officers that the victim had attacked him, and that he was homeless, after cops had spotted him eating the ear and an eyeball of the other man.

Paramedics dashed the severely injured victim, reportedly identified as Kenneth Brown, to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Brown had a large cut to part of his head and he was missing an eye and ear, according to documents 8 News Now Investigators obtained.

Czech had reportedly been falling 'in and out of consciousness' while he was in police custody, as he told officers he had been awake for 'five days straight' because 'something was possessing him'.

The killer also told detectives he used his teeth to hurt the victim, adding 'he used his teeth to eat [the man's] eyeballs and ears,' documents revealed.

Czech was arrested on a charge of open murder and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in absentia, they added.

He was set to make an appearance in court on Monday afternoon, but Justice of the Peace Rebecca Saxe said Czech was not transported to the hearing because he had been admitted into hospital.

Despite his absence, Saxe said she found probable cause for Czech's arrest and ordered him to be detained in custody without bail following the gruesome crime.

Neither a prosecutor nor a defense attorney spoke during the brief hearing, the journal reported.

Czech has now been ordered by the judge to show his face in court on Wednesday.

The Clark County coroner's office has not yet released the identity of the man who died before having his body mutilated.

An autopsy is likely to be performed by the Clark County coroner's office to confirm the victim's ID, as well as identify the cause and manner of death.

Bank of America, PNC, Citizens and Chase behind latest branch closures
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] US banks notified their regulator of 10 planned branch closures in a single week this month.

Among those shutting locations were Bank of America, PNC and Citizens - each of which announced the closure of two locations.

Meanwhile, Chase, Capitol Federal Savings Bank in Kansas, First National Bank of Middle Tennessee, and State National Bank of Groom in Texas reported one each in the week between April 14 and April 20.

The closures - published by their regulator the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency - were planned across California, Texas, Washington DC, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Kansas and Tennessee.

The closures mean that customers in the area will need to either drive further to another branch or turn to online banking for the majority of services.

It means banks have announced the closure of more than 300 branches so far in 2024.

The closures this month however were overshadowed by a very large spate of 26 openings - a sign that the ongoing 'blood branch bloodbath' may be starting to slow.

This most recent week, Chase, which has already filed to open more than 50 branches this year, again led the pack in terms of new branches. It notified the OCC of ten openings in eight states.

Bank of America, which has a track record of mainly closing branches, and Community Bank reported five openings each.

Fifth Third Bank filed to open three locations and Alerus Financial, Coastal Carolina National Bank and Wintrust Bank each said they would open one.

For years big banks were consistently closing branches at a much faster rate than they were opening new ones, with rural and elderly communities impacted worst.

But last month, openings exceeded closures for the first time in months.

This year, Chase revealed it would open 500 branches by 2027, investing billions in cities like Boston, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and the DC area.

The last year in which the number of branches in the US increased was 2011, when there were more than 85,000 throughout the US, according to FDIC data. Since then the number has dropped steadily to about 70,000.

Most national banks like US Bank, Bank of America and Wells Fargo have become increasingly confident that online banking can meet most customers' needs.

Closures can lead to significant savings. The average freestanding branch costs $2.6 million a year to run, according to Bancography, an Alabama-based consulting firm that advises banks.

In 2023, more than 1,500 bank branches were shut for good, with California and the Midwest worst-hit.

#5  Bank of America closed a branch on High St. in Boston two months ago. It makes sense - that branch was never 'bustling' to begin with and based on the now permanent lack of people working in that part of the city (Financial District), it's the right call.

From the floor level, High Street's 20% unoccupied; there's at least five buildings with nothing on 1st and 2nd floors except for 'For Rent / Lease' signs, and I know many of the other offices are half empty. The pandemic response looks like the biggest own goal I'll ever see in my lifetime.

James Carville mocks young voters sour on Biden, says 'F--- you' to key bloc of voters
[FoxNews] Democratic strategist James Carville unloaded on young voters in a video posted Sunday and mocked the key voting bloc for being sour on President Biden, angrily declaring there would be "no rights left" if former President Trump wins the election.

Carville, who has been warning the Democratic Party about losing support from younger voters and specifically, young Black voters, said he heard a lot of complaints from younger voters about Biden, the oldest president to hold office.

"‘James, young voters are just not into this. It’s two candidates, one’s in their 80s, one is almost in their 80s, they’re concerned about things that Washington politicians, and you just can’t blame them for—‘ Oh, sh--. F--- you!" Carville yelled.

Are you watching what is happening in the Supreme Court?" Carville continued.

"If you’re 26, do you see what they’re doing? First of all, they’re gonna take every right that you could possibly have away from you," he said.

Carville said the "originalists" on the Supreme Court were "illegitimate whores" and went on to argue the Supreme Court was not a legitimate branch of government.

"Don't teach anybody that the current Supreme Court has any moral or legal legitimacy. It doesn't. It's in there because of contrivements, and it's in there because of weakness and cowardice," he said.

Carville has warned that the president won't replicate the coalition he had in 2020.

"I do think that the polling has gotten a little bit better," Carville told MSNBC's Ari Melber in April. "But we’re not going to replicate the 2020 coalition. Most people think we’re going to lose Hispanic males. The young, Black males have become so disengaged from this process, and it’s happened rapidly. That’s a great concern for me."

"There will be no government left, there will be no rights left, you will live under theocracy, you’ll end up with Christian nationalism," Carville said during the Sunday video, warning against what he believes would happen if Trump wins. "But that’s all right, you little f------ 26-year-old, you don’t feel like ‘the election’s important to me. They’re not addressing the issues that I care about.'"

Carville previously said the polling among younger voters was "horrifying."

"I've been very vocal about this," Carville said. "It's horrifying our numbers among younger voters, particularly younger Blacks, younger Latinos … younger people of color, particularly males."

Judge hits 'treasonous' ex-NSA worker with 21-year sentence for trying to sell secrets to Russia: 'A betrayal'
[FoxNews] Jareh Sebastian Dalke admitted to trying to sell classified info to an undercover FBI agent believed to be a Russian official.

A federal judge laced into an ex-National Security Agency worker who admitted to attempting to sell classified secrets to Russia, sentencing the "treasonous" former U.S. intelligence employee to 21 years in prison.

U.S. District Judge Raymond Moore said he could have put Jareh Sebastian Dalke, 32, behind bars for even longer, calling the 262-month sentence "mercy" for what he saw as a calculated action to take the job at the NSA in order to be able to sell national security secrets. The nearly 22-year sentence was the same as what prosecutors sought.

"This was blatant. It was brazen and, in my mind, it was deliberate. It was a betrayal, and it was as close to treasonous as you can get," Moore said, according to The Associated Press.

According to court documents, Dalke, who worked at the NSA for about a month from June 6 to July 1, 2022, as an Information Systems Security Designer, admitted that between August and September 2022, in order to demonstrate both his "legitimate access and willingness to share," he used an encrypted email account to transmit excerpts of three classified documents to an individual he believed to be a Russian agent.

That person was an FBI online covert employee. All three documents from which the excerpts were taken contain NDI, are classified as Top Secret//Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and were obtained by Dalke during his employment with the NSA, federal prosecutors said.

Dalke was said to have told the undercover FBI agent that he wanted to "cause change" after questioning the United States’ role in causing damage to the world, but he also said he was $237,000 in debt, according to court documents. He allegedly said he had decided to work with Russia because his heritage "ties back to your country."

Dalke was initially paid $16,499 in cryptocurrency for excerpts of some documents that he passed on to the agent to show what he had, and then he offered to sell the rest of the information he had for $85,000, according to the plea deal. Prosecutors say $85,000 is about what he would have earned at the NSA in a year.

The agent directed him to go to Denver’s downtown train station and send the documents using a secure digital connection during a four-hour window. Dalke arrived with his laptop and first used the connection to send a thank you letter that opened and closed in Russian and in which he said he looked "forward to our friendship and shared benefit," according to the plea deal.

Moments after he used his laptop to transfer all the files, FBI agents arrested him.

According to his indictment, the information Dalke sought to give to Russia included a threat assessment of the military offensive capabilities of a third, unnamed country. It also includes a description of sensitive U.S. defense capabilities, some of which relates to that same foreign country.

Speaking outside court after the hearing, FBI Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek said he could not provide details about what the documents contained, but he said Dalke knew the risk they posed.

Dalke's attorneys had asked for the Army veteran, who pleaded guilty to espionage charges last fall in a deal with prosecutors, to be sentenced to 14 years in prison, in part because the information he sold in 2022 did not end up in enemy hands and cause damage.

Assistant federal public defender David Kraut also argued for a lighter sentence because he said Dalke had suffered a traumatic brain injury, had attempted suicide four times, and had experienced trauma as a child, including witnessing domestic violence and substance abuse. Research has shown that kind of childhood trauma increases the risk of people later engaging in dangerous behavior, he said.

Later, Dalke, who said he was "remorseful and ashamed", told Moore he had also suffered PTSD, bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

He denied being motivated by ideology or earning money by agreeing to sell the secrets. Dalke also suggested he had an idea that he was actually communicating with law enforcement but was attracted to the thrill of what he was doing.

Moore said he was skeptical of Dalke’s claims about his conditions since the defense did not provide any expert opinions or hospital records.

A terrorist organization whose ideology is Nazi for all intents and purposes, an organization whose spokesmen talk about the extermination of Jews, all Jews, and even the extermination of Christians, an organization whose leaders talk about taking over the world, the whole world, to establish an evil empire.

Some 1,200 people were murdered, including Jews, Arabs and others. Women were raped. Babies were burned. And how do the two international courts, ICJ and ICC, respond? By threatening Israel, whether by declaring that Israel is committing genocide or by issuing international arrest warrants against heads of state who dared to speak out against those who rose to destroy it.

We already know that in all the international bodies established immediately after World War II, there is an automatic and malicious majority against Israel. Genocide in Sudan? Internment camps for millions of Muslims in China? A brutal suppression of opposition in Iran? Massacre and displacement in Myanmar? Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine? The massacre of nearly half a million people in Syria? Since all these events began, which continue unabated, Israel has been condemned more than all world countries combined.

When all these condemnations are received by majorities in bodies such as the UN General Assembly and the UN Human Rights Council, we are not moved. A malicious majority produces malicious decisions. When professors and students in Free World countries in general, and the United States in particular, demonstrate in favor of Hamas, Hezbollah and the elimination of Israel — we say that they are crazy. We've gotten used to it, and it's not a good thing.

Two international bodies were supposed to be a little different. The ICJ and the ICC. We already know about the proceedings taking place in the first, the International Court of Justice. There is no decision there that Israel committed genocide, but it is completely unclear that there will not be.

In the second, according to more and more reports, the International Criminal Court is completing preparations for issuing international arrest warrants against several heads of state and the army. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will become Russian President Vladimir Putin. It's kind of like an international tribunal issuing an arrest warrant for Winston Churchill for the bombings of Dresden and Hamburg, not against Adolf Hitler, humanity's most despicable human monster.

Dupe entry: Trans student with 'hit list' of 45 students allowed to return to school
No Charges for Terroristic Threats, No jail time or even a sentencing hearing. IT has been allowed to return to school to the very students he threatened.

"... The Watertown incident came to light in January when a teacher overheard students talking about the hit list. A search of the student’s school-issued Chromebook found the document titled "hit list."

According to official emails, the school alerted the police and interviewed the student, who was found not to have access to weapons. The school determined there was "no credible threat" to the safety of students at the school, which houses 560 students in grades 6-8.

CONFIRMED – IT WAS ALL A SETUP: New Evidence Affirms Previous TGP Reporting that Deep State Sent Documents to Mar-a Lago to Set Up Trump
[Gateway] President Trump shared last week that he believes the FBI stole his will. The FBI also stole 1,800 other items that were not documents that belonged to President Trump. This was not lawful or necessary.

[Daily Caller] A liberal media writer seems puzzled about a non-political conference promoting the importance of having children by calling it the "far-right’s campaign to explode the population."

Politico released a piece April 28 detailing the first Natal Conference (NatalCon), which took place in December 2023, as a "behind-the-scenes" exposé on the organization’s push to get people to have children and how it’s supposedly connected to the far-right. Ford Loses $1.3 Billion on Electric Vehicles in First Quarter of 2024, Delays Plans to Make More
[Breitbart] Ford Motor Company reported a whopping $132,000 loss on each electric vehicle (EV) sold during the first three months of 2024, amassing a $1.3 billion loss.

The auto manufacturer’s electric vehicle unit revealed Thursday that they experienced a 20 percent decrease in sales volume and were forced to slash prices due to low consumer demand, CNN reported.

The revenue for Ford’s EV car, the Model e, plunged by 84 percent to about $100 million, which the company blamed on EV price cuts across the auto industry.

"That resulted in the $1.3 billion loss before interest and taxes (EBIT), and the massive per-vehicle loss in the Model e unit," the publication noted.

The recent figures are part of a trend of loss for Ford, with their Model e reporting a full-year EBIT loss of $4.7 billion on the sale of 116,000 units. This is an average loss of $40,525 per vehicle — and even that is just a third of the per-vehicle loss seen in the first three months of 2024.

Now, company officials are estimating that their EV division will lose a grand total of $5 billion this year, up from $4.7 billion last year.

"Americans don’t want EVs at levels Biden’s climate hysteria require," author and businessman Andy Puzder wrote on X. "Ford’s EV Q1 losses soared to $1.3 billion — a ridiculous $132,000 per EV sold. All Ford’s profits came from combustion engine vehicle sales. Collectivist policies destroy prosperity."

Arizona Republican Party Declares Covid-19 Injections Biological and Technological Weapons, Passes Ban the Jab Resolution!
[Gateway] The Arizona Republican Party is now the second state Republican Party to pass a ’Ban the Jab’ resolution and declare COVID-19 injections biological and technological weapons.

Patriot, Dan Schultz, of PrecinctStrategy.com submitted the ’Ban the Jab’ resolution that the Republican Party of Arizona. The Arizona GOP voted today and passed the resolution with approximately 96% of the vote.

The resolution declares the COVID-19 injections to be biological and technological weapons and calls on the Governor to prohibit their distribution and the Attorney General to confiscate the vials and conduct a forensic analysis of their contents.

In addition to being an attorney, Dan Schultz is a former West Point graduate and former U.S. Army counterintelligence and human intelligence officer.

Mr. Schultz advocates the Precinct Strategy, which seeks to wrestle control of the Republican Party back to the people. Previously, Dan Schultz submitted the ’Ban the Jab’ resolution to the Maricopa County GOP.

On Saturday January 13th, the Maricopa County GOP passed the resolution with 87.4% of the vote! A total 1494 votes were cast, 1306 in favor, 188 against. Maricopa County is the largest Republican County in the nation.

The first ’Ban the Jab’ resolution was authored by psychotherapist, Dr. Joseph Sansone, in February of 2023.

The Gateway Pundit recently reported that Dr. Sansone currently has a lawsuit that seeks Ban the Jab in Florida. The case was dismissed and is on its way to the appellate court.

To date, approximately 10 Florida Republican County Parties have passed ’Ban the Jab’ resolutions declaring Covid 19 injections biological and technological weapons, also calling on the Governor to prohibit their distribution and the Attorney General to confiscate the vials and conduct a forensic analysis.

The Florida Republican Assembly, The National Federation of Republican Assemblies, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida have passed Ban the Jab resolutions.

Recently, the Florida Department of Health has joined the call to Ban the Jab. Clackamas County GOP in Oregon and the Idaho Republican Party has passed the Ban the jab resolution.

Previously, the Arizona GOP was scheduled to vote on the resolution on January 27th, however, other business and debates caused delays to prevent getting to the vote.

Attorney Dan Schultz was persistent and reintroduced the resolution that was approved by the state’s resolution committee by a vote of 13-0.

Arizona is considered an important state in politics and passage of this resolution will help build support for prohibiting biological warfare against Americans and civilian populations at large.

The text of the resolution submitted by Dan Schultz follows:

Columbia suspends deadline-defying anti-Israel protesters; arrests at other campuses
[IsraelTimes] University says move is part of ’next phase of our efforts to ensure safety on our campus,’ after its president refused to divest from Israel, highlighted Jewish students’ plight

Columbia University, the epicenter of anti-Israel protests that have upended college campuses across the United States, began suspending student demonstrators on Monday after they defied an ultimatum to disperse.

The move follows almost two weeks of protests against Israel’s war against the Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
terror group in Gazoo
Islamic Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response. In October of 2023 Gazooks belonging to Hamas invaded Israel, killed over a thousand people, raped a bunch of women. Then they bitched and moaned about genocide when their butts handed to them in the entirely justified retaliation.
— which have sometimes veered into antisemitism and intimidation of Jewish students — that have swept through higher education institutions from coast to coast, after around 100 protesters were first arrested at Columbia on April 18.

In the latest crackdown, authorities at the prestigious university in New York demanded that the protest encampment be cleared by 2:00 p.m. local time, or students would face disciplinary action.

The deadline, which had previously been repeatedly delayed, was openly defied.

Pictures shared by the local branch of Students for Justice in Paleostine, which despite being suspended has been calling for its supporters to flock to the encampment, showed paper copies of the ultimatum with "Columbia will burn" and "I aint [sic] reading all that Free Paleostine" written on them.

"These repulsive scare tactics mean nothing compared to the deaths of over 34,000 Paleostinians," said a statement, read out by a student at a presser after the deadline, referring to an unverified Hamas-issued corpse count in Gaza that doesn’t differentiate between terror group members and civilians.

"We will not move until Columbia meets our demands or... are moved by force," said the student, who would not give his name.

A few hours later, Columbia Vice President of Communications Ben Chang said the university had "begun suspending students as part of this next phase of our efforts to ensure safety on our campus."

He said students had been warned they would be "placed on suspension, ineligible to complete the semester or graduate, and will be restricted from all academic, residential and recreational spaces."

Meanwhile at the University of Texas at Austin, police clashed with protesters Monday, including using pepper spray, and made arrests while dismantling an encampment, adding to the more than 350 people detained nationwide over the weekend.

"No encampments will be allowed," Texas Governor Greg Abbott
... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too...
said on social media. "Instead, arrests are being made."

Paul Quinzi, of the Austin Lawyers Guild helping those detained, told AFP they estimated "at least 80 arrests, and they are still going."

The protests have posed a challenge to university administrators trying to balance free speech rights with complaints and documentation that the rallies have veered into antisemitism and hate. Protesters have made three demands: divestment from Israel, transparency in Columbia’s finances, and amnesty for students and faculty disciplined for their part in the protests.

Footage of police in riot gear summoned at various colleges to break up rallies have been viewed around the world, recalling the protest movement that erupted during the Vietnam War.

TALKS COLLAPSE
Columbia University president Minouche Shafik, in a statement Monday announcing talks had broken down, said "many of our Jewish students, and other students as well, have found the atmosphere intolerable in recent weeks.

"Many have left campus, and that is a tragedy. Antisemitic language and actions are unacceptable and calls for violence are simply abhorrent," she wrote after videos taken inside the encampment at various times showed some students chanting "Zionists not allowed here," "Go back to Poland," and other students calling for "10,000 October 7ths."

Shafik went on to say that it was a tragedy that Jewish students had felt the need to leave campus in recent weeks due to the "intolerable" atmosphere. Classes were moved online after many Jewish students left campus, saying they felt unsafe.

"To those students and their families, I want to say to you clearly: You are a valued part of the Columbia community. This is your campus too. We are committed to making Columbia safe for everyone, and to ensuring that you feel welcome and valued," she wrote.

"One group’s rights to express their views cannot come at the expense of another group’s right to speak, teach and learn," Shafik said.

Shafik wrote that despite the protesters’ demands, the university would not divest from Israel but that it had offered to compromise with protesters by making "investments in health and education in Gaza, including supporting early childhood development and support for displaced scholars."

She also offered "a process for students to access a list of Columbia’s direct investment holdings, and to increase the frequency of updates to that list.

Since the encampment and protests have created an "unwelcoming environment" for Jewish students and faculty and a distraction for students who are trying to complete the academic year, Shafik said the protest no longer complied with guidelines. She pledged that they could continue after exams and Commencement "with two day’s notice in authorized locations."

With the school year wrapping up, administrators point to the need to maintain order on campus for exam studies.

US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
’s White House has also attempted to walk a fine line of defending the right to protest while condemning reported acts of antisemitism.

"We get that it is a painful moment that Americans are dealing with, and free expression has to be done within the law," Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Monday.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
Biden’s Republican opponents have seized on the issue, casting the protests as antisemitic and threatening to pull federal funding if they aren’t stopped.

"What continues to transpire at Columbia is an utter disgrace. The campus is being overrun by antisemitic students and faculty alike," House Speaker Mike Johnson said on X, reiterating his call for Shafik to resign.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie ducked another tomato...
suspensions were also ongoing at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where president Martha Pollack said student protesters had been "dishonest" by saying they did not intend to form a tented encampment on campus. Over days of negotiations, students were offered multiple opportunities to move the encampment, or face sanctions.

"They declined," Pollack wrote. "Therefore, more temporary suspensions... are forthcoming."

While pro-Paleostinian and anti-Israel protests have been held regularly on US campuses since the Israel-Hamas war broke out on October 7 with the terrorist organization’s unprecedented attack on Israel in which 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were murdered and 253 were taken hostage, the demonstrations sparked renewed attention after Columbia protesters set up their encampment earlier this month.

After the NYPD removed the encampment and arrested more than 100 protesters, demonstrators at other universities around the country and in Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
were inspired and erected their own encampments while the Columbia one was reassembled.

Protest organizers deny accusations of antisemitism, arguing that their actions are aimed at the Israeli government and its prosecution of the conflict in Gaza. They also claim the more threatening incidents have been engineered by non-student agitators.

Portland University ‘pauses’ Boeing ties amid Gaza protests, but students won’t budge

[IsraelTimes] As Portland State University president promises to hold open forum in May to discuss donations from aerospace giant, students refuse to vacate encampment blocking campus library.

While students have been urging the university to cut its relationship with Boeing for years, pressure has ramped up since war erupted between Israel and Hamas in Gaza after the terror group’s October 7 massacre in southern Israel.

PSU president Ann Cudd detailed the university’s relationship with Boeing at a press conference last month, as reported by the PSU Vanguard student newsletter, saying that the company had this year donated $150,000 for a classroom, in addition to a regular donation of $28,000 to fund scholarships.

US lawmakers said threatening ICC over Israel arrest warrants; speaker: Move would be ‘lawless'
[IsraelTimes] US Congress members from both parties have warned the International Criminal Court that Washington will retaliate against the court if it issues arrest warrants against top Israeli officials, Axios reports.

The report says legislation on the matter is already being worked on, citing House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, a Texas Republican, as expecting a bill to sanction ICC officials but adding: "We hope it doesn’t come to that."

Meanwhile, US House Speaker Mike Johnson
…who has made the whole Israel/Hamas/antisemitism protests one of his major causes…
slams the reported intention to issue arrest warrants over the Gaza war.

"It is disgraceful that the International Criminal Court is reportedly planning to issue baseless and illegitimate arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials," Johnson says in a statement.

"Such a lawless action by the ICC would directly undermine US national security interests. If unchallenged by the Biden administration, the ICC could create and assume unprecedented power to issue arrest warrants against American political leaders, American diplomats, and American military personnel, thereby endangering our country’s sovereign authority," Johnson adds.
It's the same kind that riot on your campuses - just grown up.

#1  It is interesting that there seems to be no impeding ICC action against Hamas and/or the state sponsors of Hamas.

"International Law" is biased against Israel and the West in general.

Even when fundamental Western interests that are nominally protected are violated "International Law" will not hold the actors accountable.

"International Law" is in essence the collective will of the enemies of Western Civilization.

‘We lost heroes.' 3 US Marshal Task Force officers killed, 4 CMPD officers hurt, 1 critically, in east Charlotte shootout
The shooter, Terry Clark Hughes, cut down in his prime. The most he accomplished in life was to be dangerous.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) — Three U.S. Marshal Task Force officers were killed, and four Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers were hurt during an east Charlotte shooting, which stemmed from a fugitive warrant operation on Monday afternoon.

At least one shooting suspect was found dead at the home after clearing the scene, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. A second suspect was identified and taken

"Today is an absolutely tragic day for the city of Charlotte and the profession of law enforcement," said CMPD police chief Johnny Jennings. "Today, we lost some heroes that were out just simply trying to keep our community safe."

Residents, along with anyone in the area of the neighborhood, were asked to avoid the area as active gunfire was ongoing for hours. At 4:56 p.m., CMPD said the area was safe. The situation began around 1:50 p.m. along Galway Drive near Denson Place.

Biden Looks To Prevent Future President From Ending Ukraine War With 10-Year Agreement
[ZERO] Soon on the heels of President Biden last week signing into law a $61 billion aid package for Ukraine's defense, President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday indicated that he's working with Washington on a bilateral security agreement which would last ten years.

"We are already working on a specific text," Zelensky said in his nightly video address. "Our goal is to make this agreement the strongest of all."

"We are discussing the specific foundations of our security and cooperation. We are also working on fixing specific levels of support for this year and the next 10 years."

He indicated it will likely include agreements on long-term support centering on military hardware and joint arms production, as well as continuing reconstruction aid. "The agreement should be truly exemplary and reflect the strength of American leadership," Zelensky added.

But ultimately a key purpose in locking such a long-term deal in would be to keep it immune from potential interference by a future Trump administration.

Below is what The Wall Street Journal spelled out last year:

Ukrainian Armed Forces on what is happening near the Chasov Yar

There are currently no Russian troops in Chasov Yar. In the surrounding area, there were enemy attempts to bypass the city near the villages of Ivanovskoye and Bogdanovka.

The situation in the area of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk region is complex, but controlled; there are no Russian troops in the city. This was stated by the speaker of the operational-strategic group of troops of Khortitsa Nazar Voloshin during a telethon on Monday, April 29.

According to him, although the situation has become tense, it still remains under control.

“Of course, the enemy is trying to seize the strategic initiative, to break through the front line. The enemy has concentrated his efforts in several directions, creating a significant advantage in forces and means. He attacks in several directions and even has tactical successes,” Voloshin said.

However, according to him, there are currently no Russian troops in Chasov Yar. “In the surrounding area, there were attempts by the enemy to bypass the city near the villages of Ivanovskoye and Bogdanovka. The enemy’s goal is to take the city in a vice and go around it in a circle. But all enemy attempts are suppressed by our units,” the speaker said.

According to Voloshin, over the past 24 hours, 170 mortar and artillery attacks were recorded in this direction. “The enemy continues to storm the city of Chasov Yar,” he added.

Let us remind you that earlier President Vladimir Zelensky said that Russia aims to capture Chasov Yar by May 9. If the Ukrainian troops hold out, then the Russian plans to launch a counteroffensive in June will be defeated.

The Other Perfesser: University Presidents 'have participated in the creation of a monstrous movement on campuses'
by William A. Jacobson

[LegalInsurrection] My interview on The Daily Signal Podcast: “They have participated in the creation of a monstrous movement on campuses that is anti-American, anti-Western, anti-capitalist, and that uses targeting of Jews and Israel as an organizing mechanism…. It is a tear down the statues ideology. It is remove names from buildings ideology. It is a deconstruction of our society. It is very reminiscent to me of a Khmer Rouge in Cambodia sort of ideology, where you go back to Year Zero.”

I appeared Daily Signal Podcast on April 24, 2024, hosted by Virginia Allen. I’ve been on the DS podcast many times, and I appreciate how Virginia makes the guest the spotlight, not the host.

Here’s the segment as written up by the DS, What’s Behind Antisemitic Protests on College Campuses:

Pro-Palestine protests on the campuses of some of America’s most elite colleges have resulted in hundreds of arrests and led Columbia University in New York to move classes online for the remainder of the semester.

Islamists hold a mass rally in Hamburg demanding the creation of a caliphate
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Do they now?

More on this story from yesterday.
[Regnum] More than a thousand Islamists in Hamburg took part in a rally demanding the creation of a caliphate in Germany, the German newspaper Bild reported.

According to journalists, the organizer of the action was 25-year-old student Joe Adade Boateng, who gained popularity on social networks. He criticizes the policies of Israel and Western countries.
A useful name to add to the archive, he’s the head of Muslim Interaktiv, a local branch of Hizbut Tahrir
...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate...
and for some reason he likes to be called Raheem.
Hamburg police spokeswoman Sandra Lövgrün, when asked why law enforcement did not ban the rally, replied that there were no reasons for this.

“There must be real evidence that there will be violent riots during the rally. Suspicions alone are not enough for a ban,” she said.

Lövgrun added that in Germany it is not prohibited to call for the creation of a caliphate, and the protesters did not violate the law prohibiting the propaganda of terrorism. Hamburg Interior Senator Andy Grote said he was disgusted by the action, but police found no legal reason to ban it. Journalists also established that law enforcement officers did not check the documents of the protesters, since there was no legal basis for this.

According to the newspaper, the Muslim Interactive group, which is close to the Hizb ut-Tahrir group (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), was involved in organizing the rally, according to the newspaper.

As reported by IA Regnum, in April, German media reported that schoolchildren in Germany are increasingly converting to Islam in order not to be outcasts in a class where the majority of Muslims. In a survey conducted by the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony among 786 Muslim students, 68% said that for them the rules of the Koran are more important than the laws of Germany.

Bild stated in October 2023 that there were many in Germany who despised non-Muslims and opposed the way of life established in the country. The publication published a 50-point manifesto for migrants, including noting that residents of Germany have the right to public protests as long as they do not glorify criminals or cause riots.

Ex-Prosecutor General Skuratov doubts the objectivity of the Katyn investigation
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The investigation into the Katyn tragedy of 1940, when thousands of Polish officers and soldiers were shot, was hardly objective. This opinion was expressed by the former Prosecutor General of Russia Yuri Skuratov, who held this post until 2000.

“I don’t know what prompted the new investigation after I left. But I have great doubts that this investigation was objective. There was probably some kind of political decision,” Skuratov noted in an interview with the TASS analytical center.

He added that during his tenure as prosecutor general (since October 1995), the “Katyn case” was not investigated. According to him, initially there were statements by the first and only president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, who gave the Poles copies of some political documents. Then in 1993 there was a statement by the first president of Russia, Boris Yeltsin.

According to the former Prosecutor General, Polish law enforcement agencies turned to the Russian side with a request to participate in the investigation. Moscow agreed, but on the condition of a parallel investigation into the case of genocide in 1920, when 60 thousand Red Army soldiers who were captured on Polish territory died, and in fact were killed. However, Skuratov pointed out, after that the Polish side took a break and fell silent.

As Regnum reported, in April–May 1940, 4,421 Polish officers deported to the territory of the Soviet Union were shot in the Katyn Forest, 18 km west of Smolensk. Their remains were buried here.

Residents of Smolensk erected a memorial stone at the site of the tragedy. In 2000, Russia’s first international memorial complex-monument to the victims of the totalitarian repression “Katyn” was created there. Next to the burials of Poles in the memorial complex lie the ashes of almost 10 thousand repressed Soviet citizens.

More from Boris Rozhin:
Katyn case. Shot at Russia
Text taken from a news article which appeared in zvezdaweekly.ru, written by Evgeniy Kirichenko.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

The Zvezda TV channel raises the issue of falsification of the Katyn case. The truth makes its way.

How a provocation developed in the Abwehr and implemented by Joseph Goebbels became a catalyst for the destruction of the USSR

THE BOMB PLANTED BY GOEBBELS
The Russian FSB published archival documents confirming that the mass execution of Polish officers in the Smolensk region was organized by the Hitlerite Gestapo, and not at all by the Stalinist NKVD, as was claimed in the years "perestroika". Among the declassified materials are certificates from military counterintelligence SMERSH, interrogation reports of Poles who served with the Germans, and testimony from former SS man Arnaud Duret, who participated in the burial of executed Poles.

According to the latter, in September 1941 he was sent to a penal company to dig graves for mass burials in the Katyn Forest. SS units brought the bodies of the dead there and threw them into a ditch 15-20 meters deep. He estimates that they buried up to 20 thousand bodies there. Later, in 1943, when Arno came on vacation, he saw in the newspapers a photograph of a ditch, under which it was written that the Russians had done it.

“I told my mother that it was not the Russians who did it, but the Germans, but my mother didn’t believe me,” Duret recalled. According to him, he did not tell anyone else about this because he signed a non-disclosure agreement.

Another prisoner of war, Eduard Potkansky, admitted during interrogation that the Germans shot many Polish officers in the Katyn Forest for the purpose of provocation against the Soviet regime. In June 1943, the Nazis showed their work battalion the graves, next to which lay personal belongings, money and documents of the killed. However, they were in a form “in which they could not have been preserved in the ground since 1939,” when NKVD officers allegedly carried out executions.

The FSB removed the secrecy label from these and other archival materials on the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Katyn, which is celebrated in Poland annually on April 13, although the mass execution of captured Poles, as established by Nikolai Burdenko’s commission, occurred in the fall of 1941. However, for some reason Warsaw chose the same day as the memorial date when, in 1943, Berlin announced the “brutal crime of the Bolsheviks,” who allegedly shot 20 thousand Polish officers in the Katyn Forest. A few days after the newspapers of the anti-Hitler coalition published the stunning news, Joseph Goebbels wrote in his personal diary: “The Katyn affair is becoming a colossal political bomb, which under certain conditions will cause more than one blast wave.”

The words of the main propagandist of Nazi Germany turned out to be prophetic. Half a century after the Nuremberg Tribunal, which condemned the Nazis for the execution of the Poles, a “blast wave” again covered Europe. And the head of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, blamed Stalin and the NKVD for the crime. During Wojciech Jaruzelski's visit to Moscow on April 13, 1990, he gave him copies of the “execution lists” with the names of Polish officers allegedly executed in the Katyn Forest. Although in fact these were stage lists of captured Poles sent to NKVD camps.

On the same day, the TASS agency, “expressing deep regret,” admitted Soviet responsibility for Katyn, thereby overthrowing the verdict of the International Military Tribunal. Based on this fact, the Prosecutor General's Office will initiate a criminal case, which will then be closed after the death of the perpetrators. However, Warsaw, at the instigation of Gorbachev, already believed that the execution of the Poles was the work of Stalin’s NKVD. This is where the collapse of the Warsaw Bloc countries, and then the entire socialist system, will begin.

President Boris Yeltsin will go even further - he will hand over to the Polish side not copies, but genuine lists of “package No. 1” as evidence of Russia’s guilt in the Katyn massacre. The head of state will decide to take this step, despite the fact that the Constitutional Court, obedient to him, was never able to establish the authenticity of archival materials. But Yeltsin didn’t care much about this - he needed a tool with which to discredit the CPSU. The “Katyn Affair” was perfectly suited for this purpose.

An aerial view of the exhumation site with rows of bodies of Polish officers lying on the ground near the mass graves (filmed by Nazi cameramen).

It was these supposedly authentic documents that were presented in 2009 to the European Court of Human Rights as the main evidence of Russia’s guilt in the Katyn case. Relatives of the 12 executed Polish officers were counting on huge financial compensation. Poland was also going to file a claim for $100 billion. But the incredible happened: on June 18, 2012, the Strasbourg court decided that our country was not responsible for the execution of Poles in Katyn, and the “documents” presented as evidence of guilt were fake. True, by that time Russia had already rushed to apologize for what it had not done.

So, what is the essence of the “Katyn Affair”? When and by whom was it fabricated? And most importantly - for what?

EVIDENCE THAT CANNOT BE DESTROYED
As you know, in 1939, after the Wehrmacht attacked Poland and the flight of its government to Romania, the USSR sent troops to take protection of the population of Western Belarus and Western Ukraine. At the same time, more than 150 thousand Polish soldiers, without offering resistance, surrendered. Of these, 42 thousand returned to the territory occupied by the Germans, and another 42 thousand were liberated in the territory occupied by the Red Army (Red Army). The rest were interned in three camps west of Smolensk. With the beginning of the war, the NKVD tried to organize the evacuation of captured Poles, but only 3 thousand were taken out; the rest expressed a desire to stay in the camps, waiting for the Germans and hoping that they would return them home.

However, in order to secure the rear in the occupied territory, SS units executed all the Poles in the fall of 1941. Most of them were killed in the Goat Mountains, which would later be called Katyn. The execution was carried out without disguise as the “NKVD handwriting”, using German-made pistols. If the Germans had known that they would later need to shift the blame onto the Soviet security officers, they would probably have shot them with Russian revolvers and Mosin three-line guns. But no one set such a task.

In the spring of 1943, after the Battle of Stalingrad, Western states began to realize that the days of the Third Reich were numbered, and began to prepare for the opening of a second front in Europe. The Nazis urgently needed to split the ranks of the anti-Hitler coalition, and then they remembered the mass grave near Smolensk.

This is how the Abwehr came up with a plan for the Katyn provocation, in which not only the “dead”, but also the “living” Poles were supposed to participate. That is, those who had already been shot, and those to whom these remains needed to be demonstrated. The Polish government in exile, warmed by the British in London, was supposed to stir up an international scandal.

In order to give a larger scale to the “crime of the Bolsheviks,” in Berlin they decided to increase the number of victims in the place where representatives of the Polish Red Cross were supposed to arrive. The Germans opened the graves in the Goat Mountains and brought remains there from other burial sites, carefully checking the bodies and confiscating documents with dates after April-May 1940. For greater persuasiveness, papers with the “needed” dates were placed on the corpses, but here the Gestapo made a mistake, since many of the owners of the documents later turned out to be alive: Remigiusz Bezhanek, Franciszek Biernacki and others.

However, the Nazis did not have time to check all the remains - a commission of the Polish Red Cross had already arrived, and the bodies “unprepared” for inspection were transferred to a separate ditch, to which experts were not allowed. However, there was no need to guard him - the International Commission already worked under German control and did not even keep its own list of identified bodies.

But even such an obedient commission could not ignore the shell casings with German markings discovered in the graves. To explain this, the Nazis said that the NKVD shot Poles with German pistols using cartridges supplied to the USSR back in the 1920s. The question arises: why would security officers use ammunition with a long-expired shelf life, which usually does not exceed five years? After all, the cartridges would inevitably misfire. In addition, the Nazis never provided documents confirming the supply of 7.65 mm Walter pistols to Russia.

By the way, half a century later, during our own excavations in 1994-1995. In Kozye Gory, Polish experts discovered 79 steel cartridges with the date “41” stamped on them, which could not possibly have been used in April 1940.

As for other evidence, it later disappeared. From the end of March to the beginning of June 1943, after the exhumation of the remains of 4,243 Polish officers, the names of 2,730 of them were established. The Germans transferred the documents and objects found on the corpses to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Krakow, from where they were taken to Germany, where, according to rumors, they were soon burned during the bombing. It is no longer possible to establish who these documents belonged to. The ends are hidden.

EXECUTION WITH GERMAN HANDWRITING
Moscow resolutely rejected Berlin's accusations, and as soon as the Red Army liberated the Smolensk region, a commission of forensic experts headed by Nikolai Burdenko was sent to Katyn. After exhuming the remains, she carefully examined everything that could be collected from the site of the mass execution. Then, in the clothes of some of the bodies, receipts and receipts were found dating from June - August 1941, which did not fit into Goebbels’ scheme. Based on the data received, the commission was able to expose the Abwehr’s provocation and came to the conclusion that the mass execution in the Katyn Forest was carried out by the Nazis after the occupation of the Smolensk region.

It is noteworthy that local residents, whose testimony was cited by the Germans to accuse the Soviet regime, recanted their testimony when they were questioned by the Burdenko commission. Some of the international experts whom the Germans brought to the burial site also renounced their testimony. In particular, pathologist Marko Markov did not sign the German protocol, because he believed that the remains presented for inspection had lain in the ground not for three years, but clearly less. By the way, Markov left detailed memories of this terrible story, in which he expressed doubt about the German version of events.

It should be emphasized that the materials of the Burdenko commission were presented to the international tribunal in Nuremberg, which held the Hitler regime responsible for this atrocity. However, very few years will pass, former allies will become irreconcilable enemies, and the Cold War period will begin. Western countries will shake off the archival dust from the Katyn Affair, and the Nazi version will once again become the main ideological tool of anti-Soviet propaganda. The task of Russia's enemies was to destroy the Soviet Union, but first they needed to discredit the CPSU. And Goebbels’ plan turned out to be very useful.

ARCHIVAL FAKES?
The propaganda campaign in favor of the version of the USSR's guilt in the Katyn Affair, which unfolded in the early 1990s, was based on archival materials that were later found to be fake. The most important document allegedly confirming the fact of the execution of captured Poles by NKVD officers is considered to be a “note” from the Chairman of the KGB of the USSR Alexander Shelepin dated March 3, 1959, addressed to the First Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Khrushchev. It reported that 21,857 officers, gendarmes “etc. persons of the former bourgeois Poland" were shot based on the decision of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee of March 5, 1940. However, it is worth noting that in 1940 the party had a different name - the VKP(b). It is strange that until now none of the historians have paid attention to this error, which sticks out like an awl from a bag.

How did this archival document come about? It is assumed that having headed the KGB, Shelepin received access to the records of captured Poles and came to the conclusion that it would be advisable to “destroy documents on all persons executed in 1940 as part of the said operation.” Perhaps it was from here that the notorious “execution lists” of Polish officers in Katyn arose, which in 1990 were slipped to Mikhail Gorbachev as a “gesture of goodwill” towards Poland. Subsequently, the son of Lavrenty Beria would write:

“During Jaruzelski’s official visit to Moscow, Gorbachev gave him only copies of the lists of prisoners of war and internees of the NKVD of the USSR found in the Soviet archives, which included the names of Polish citizens who were in the Kozelsky, Ostashkovsky and Starobelsky NKVD camps in 1939 - 1940. None of these documents speak of the participation of the NKVD in the execution of prisoners of war.”

The execution of Poles was discussed in another document from “package No. 1” - a 4-page letter from Beria dated March 5, 1940, addressed to Stalin, where the People’s Commissar of Internal Affairs of the USSR proposed that the cases of Polish citizens held in NKVD camps be “considered in a special manner, with the application of capital punishment to them - execution."

According to the famous historian Yuri Zhukov, when he turned to the archives of the President of the Russian Federation for this document in the early 1990s, he was provided with a photocopy of Beria’s note on one page. The resolution in the upper left corner, as the historian explained, was covered during copying.

“I believe she rejected the People’s Commissar’s proposal to be shot,” Zhukov told the author. “Otherwise they wouldn’t have hidden her.” They needed to blame everyone and everything for our past. Therefore, all my attempts to obtain the original document were rejected - a state secret.”

Today, a color scan of this note, known as “Beria’s letter No. 794/B dated March 5, 1940,” is circulating on the Internet, with all 4 pages of it printed on typewriters with different fonts. Historians note that this is the first sign of forgery when they try to add or change any phrases in the text.

On the title page there are sweeping signatures of Stalin, Voroshilov, Molotov and Mikoyan, who supported Beria’s proposal to shoot captured Poles. Moreover, they were all made with the left hand and a pencil of the same color. This is the same resolution of the members of the Politburo of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, which was supposed to be proof of the guilt of the Stalinist regime in the Katyn tragedy. It was this “letter”, along with other archival materials from “package No. 1”, that Boris Yeltsin presented to the Constitutional Court of the RSFSR, where the “CPSU case” initiated by him was considered, but for some reason the accommodating Constitutional Court refused to recognize them as authentic documents.

“YAKOVLEV GROUP”
In 2010, State Duma deputy Viktor Ilyukhin and research experts Sergei Strygin and Vladislav Shved became aware of how the falsification of the aforementioned “Beria’s letter” was being prepared, which proposed shooting more than 25 thousand Polish prisoners of war. Ilyukhin, at a plenary session of parliament, released information that in the early 1990s, a group of specialists in forging archival documents was allegedly organized, headed by Alexander Yakovlev, a member of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee.

“In 1943, Goebbels, trying to destroy the anti-Hitler coalition and quarrel between the USSR and the USA, spread a lie that Stalin and Beria ordered the execution of 10 thousand Polish officers,” said Ilyukhin. - This lie was supported by the Polish government in exile, which was most motivated by a sense of anger at the Soviet Union for the defeat of the Polish army in Western Belarus and Ukraine and the annexation of these territories to the USSR. The well-known Alexander Yakovlev actually advocated for such a compromise of the USSR that the whole world would turn away from our country. After this, the greatest fraud and falsification of archival documents of the CPSU Central Committee took place.”

The “Yakovlev Group” worked in the structure of the security service of Russian President Boris Yeltsin, located in the village of Nagornoye, Moscow Region, until 1996, and then was relocated to another locality - Zarechye. From there, according to Ilyukhin, hundreds, if not thousands of false documents were thrown into the archives, and the same number were falsified by introducing distorted information into them and forging signatures.

One of the members of this group gave Ilyukhin samples of forms, seals, stamps and postmarks of counterfeiters, which the deputy demonstrated by making a video message, but the official media ignored him. Viktor Ilyukhin initiated a parliamentary review of archival documents, but his death from a heart attack prevented him from completing the work begun, as always happens in such cases.

It is noteworthy that in 2004, the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of Russia confirmed that the NKVD troika imposed death sentences on 14,542 Polish prisoners of war, but the death of only 1,803 people was reliably established. And where, in this case, did the rest go?

Researchers admit that after the publication of new archival data in the early 1990s, complete clarity on the “Katyn case” did not emerge. Moreover, digital copies of documents from “package No. 1,” which, by order of the president, were previously posted on the website of the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History, have now become inaccessible. Is this due to the fact that their authenticity raises questions among lawyers?

The forgery of documents has been recognized by the courts.

The results of studies of signs of forgery of the “Katyn” documents from “package No. 1” have been published in many publications and are well known. To date, their falsity has been determined by decisions of at least three Russian courts. In addition to the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, which received documents as evidence of the alleged guilt of the CPSU (b) - CPSU in the execution of captured Poles, they were also considered by the Basmanny and Tverskoy district courts of Moscow on October 13, 2009 and September 21, 2010. And everyone, having verified the falsification of archival materials, refused to recognize as true the information that Stalin and members of the Politburo of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks had decided on capital punishment for the Poles.

I would like to hope that the time will come when the impartial court of history will give an objective assessment not only of all the facts of this tragedy, but also of those individuals who tried to speculate on it, fabricating fakes to discredit the Soviet Union. Involuntarily, I recall the sincere confession of the main ideologist of the CPSU A. Yakovlev: “We had to partially lie, be hypocritical, dissemble - there was no other way. We had to break the totalitarian communist party."

But they broke something completely different. As the former Soviet dissident and philosopher Alexander Zinoviev put it, “they aimed for communism, but ended up in Russia.”

(c) Evgeniy Kirichenko

And to the heap. Today, former Prosecutor General of Russia Skuratov spoke on the topic of Katyn.
Former Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Skuratov doubts the objectivity of the investigation in Russia of the “Katyn case,” which led to the admission of guilt by the NKVD in the execution of Polish officers and soldiers in 1940.

“There was probably some kind of political decision. After all, we were still full of desire to please the West, and a lot of different kinds of concessions on our part were thrown into this firebox, so to speak,”

PS. My position on this matter has not changed since the 2000s - the Poles were shot by the Germans in 1941.

Ilhan Omar Paraglides Into Columbia Campus To Lead Protests
[Bee] NEW YORK, NY — In a dramatic entrance that left onlookers both baffled and concerned for their immediate safety, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar descended from the skies above the Columbia University campus via paraglider, ready to lead the charge in the latest round of protests.

"Sometimes, you've got to glide right into the heart of the action and take the first shot," said Omar, removing her parachute straps as she surveyed the gathering crowd. "I'm here as extra ammunition for these students in our fight against oppression."

Though many condemned Omar's entrance as showing support for Hamas committing mass murder and rape, the Congresswoman remained undeterred. "Change doesn't happen from the sidelines, my friends," shouted Omar to the crowd of protesters. "You've got to get out there and tell President Biden: do NOT bring our hostages home! As my good friend Khymani James standing here beside me said, 'Zionists do not deserve to live'. Intifada Revolution! Ceasefire now! From the river to the sea!"

At publishing time, Ilhan Omar was spotted teaching the students how to make Molotov cocktails outside the university's Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies.

Washington Post hack Philip Bump smears The Post's Isabel Vincent to protect George Soros
[NYPOST] It takes him more than a thousand words to get to it, at least in the updated version now online, but The Washington Post’s Philip Bump basically calls our own Isabel Vincent an antisemite for reporting on how the Soros family foundation and other lefty charities have been funding the campus protests.

The connection, he argues, "is so tenuous as to be obviously contrived," as he lays out how the payments Vincent actually traced (via various intermediate nonprofits) only account for a tiny percentage of known cash that various protest leaders actually pocketed, and anyway those intermediaries (like Jewish Voice for Peace, the Tides Foundation, Education for Just Peace in the Middle East and the Westchester People’s Action Coalition Foundation) get lots of money from lots of places.

But readers, Bump insists, are "meant to think" that "Soros is a nefarious figure bent on using his wealth to reshape the world": It’s all "vague insinuations leveraging well-worn rhetoric and a preexisting visceral response to the Jewish billionaire," and: "There’s a term for allegations like that."
It’s easy, actually: if the speaker uses Mr. Soros as an example of how horrible all Jews are, that’s antisemitism. If, on the other hand, the speaker loathes Mr. Soros because he is a truly loathsome example of humanity, his Jewishness incidental and not representative of Jews as a whole, then he is not a Jew-hater, but a nuanced and insightful thinker on the subject
The basic piece went online within six hours of Vincent’s report, a rapid turnaround enabled by the fact that Bump isn’t a journalist, but a stenographer for Soros.

Yes, the Soros camp always insists that any criticism of his giving is nothing but antisemitism — whether it’s the latest news, or his quiet, yearslong, all-too-successful effort to transform the justice system by helping forces of Evil win election as district attorneys.

French police crack down on anti-Israel protests at Sorbonne
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

French police have violent mostly peacefully crushed pro-Paleostinian protesters, dragging them on the ground after they set up camps at the Sorbonne University to call for an end to Israel’s brutalities in the besieged Gazoo

Police evacuated demonstrators from the premises of the university after the students had set up tents in a courtyard on Monday.

One student said they were "around 50 people when law enforcement forces came running into the courtyard."

"The evacuation was quite brutal with around 10 people dragged on the ground but no arrests."

Authorities said earlier that the students had caused exams to be cancelled after they had set up tents in the courtyard and hallway of the university.

More than 150 protesters also gathered outside the campus, waving a giant Paleostinian flag and chanting slogans like, "Gaza, Sorbonne is with you," and "Israel murderer."

"We're here following the call from students at Harvard and Columbia," said another Sorbonne student.

Police cleared several such protests at other universities, including the Gay Paree Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) on Thursday. The students, however, maintained their sit-in the next day until university management had to agree to soon hold an internal debate including on the right to protest.

OnlyFans creator Farha Khalidi claims she was paid to spread 'political propaganda' for Biden admin
[NYPOST] An OnlyFans creator and TikTok star has claimed she was paid to spread "political propaganda" for the Biden administration on social media — and that she was asked to hide the fact it was advertising.

Farha Khalidi said she’d been asked to help boast about then-Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to her tens of thousands of social media followers after Brown Jackson was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Biden.

"I was doing full-on political propaganda," the social media personality said during a recent podcast interview with commentator Richard Hanania.

"The funny thing is they’re, like, ’Do not disclose this as an ad’ because they [were], like, ’Technically, it’s not a product, so you don’t have to disclose it’s an ad.’ Because I think they just wanted, like, some edgy girl of color to just tell people — like when they nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson, they’re, like, ’Can you say "as a person of color," you know, that you feel "reflected"?’"

When probed about the Biden admin, Khalidi, who boasts more than 119,000 Instagram followers, clarified that she was dealing with a "conduit" third-party media company at the time.

"It’s not Biden, but it’s, like, a third party. You know what I mean? It’s, like, a media company that’s doing it on his behalf. I’m not blaming him for this," Khalidi said.

She went on to say that she ultimately pushed back against the "script" because it was a white woman from the media company telling her what to say.

"And I’m, like, ’No,’ and she’s like, ’Please,’ and I’m like, ’No.’ I’ll talk about the news of it, but I’m not gonna be like — I’m not gonna have a white person tell me to be, like, ’This is how I feel as a person of color.’ It’s just so — I think that black-pilled me slightly on political propaganda," Khalidi said.

"Yeah, they’re basically, ’As, like, another black person, can you just say that you feel reflected by Ketanji?’ I’m like, ’No, I’ll talk about Ketanji’s background and her accomplishments,’ but you know what I mean? I’ll never — I’m not gonna say, like, the corny stuff, even if it was a brown person emailing it to me."

The White House didn’t immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Elsewhere in the interview, Khalidi said the political payments were just one way she was raking in cash during college.

"I was taking ads by the time I graduated college from, like, the Biden administration, Planned Parenthood
...has received federal funding since 1970, when President Richard Nixon signed into law the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act. It is sometimes described as the gynecololgical wing of the Democratic party...
and, like, dating apps and stuff. So it was, like, fully financially sustaining me," Khalidi said.

It wasn’t immediately clear exactly how much Khalidi was paid.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Where the Russian army presses and where it retreats
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] The situation at the front has worsened.

Now the “hottest” place is in the Avdeevsky direction. Under the pressure of the invaders, the Defense Forces retreated to the west of Berdichev, Semenovka and Novomikhailovka.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said yesterday that the situation at the front has worsened and in some places the Russian army is having tactical successes. According to him, the most difficult situation is now in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhovsky directions, as well as in Avdievsky, where the Defense Forces were forced to retreat to other positions.

“The situation at the front has worsened. Trying to seize the strategic initiative and break through the front line, the enemy concentrated his main efforts in several directions, creating a significant advantage in forces and means. He is actively attacking along the entire front line, and has tactical successes in some directions,” the commander-in-chief said.

At the same time, according to him, there are sections of the front where it was possible to improve the tactical position of our troops. Read more about the situation from the military and analysts themselves in the story.

SEIZURE OF VILLAGES
After Syrsky’s statement, on the morning of April 29, Ukrainian military blogger Bogdan Miroshnikov reported that the situation in the Donetsk operational zone is very difficult. According to him, after the loss of the western part of Berdichi, the opportunity to cut off the enemy “guts” in Ocheretino was actually lost.

"It is Ocheretino that is controlled only behind the pond in the eastern part. This is approximately 10% of the area. Most of Novokalinovoye is controlled by the enemy. The occupier has broken through to Umanskoye and Netaylovo. Fighting continues. Fighting is also ongoing on the outskirts of Novopokrovsky. Well, stop the enemy in Karlovka, That’s how it is in Karlovka. What can you do,” Miroshnkov commented on the situation.

This situation occurred, according to the blogger, due to a shortage of shells and exhaustion of the Defense Forces units.

The information that the Russian army has occupied Berdich (located south of Ocheretino) and advanced into Kislovka (in the Kupyansky direction) is confirmed by analysts from DeepState. As of April 28, the enemy controlled about 80% of Ocheretino, the rest of the village was “in question.” Heavy fighting was also reported in Krasnogorovka and Novokalinov.

Today, April 29, DeepState experts updated the map and reported that the invaders advanced to Netaylovo, near Novoaleksandrovka and captured Novomikhailovka (Maryinsky district, Donetsk region).

According to the latest map update, the Russian army has about 10-11 km left to the Pokrovsk-Konstantinovka highway. Over the past 24 hours, they have advanced two kilometers in the direction of the highway.

IMPLICATIONS FOR THE DEFENSE FORCES
Yesterday’s breakthrough towards Novoaleksandrovka indicates that in the near future the Russians will be focused on expanding the breakthrough and creating conditions for entering the operational space in the direction of the Konstantinovka-Pokrovsk highway, they add in the 46th separate airmobile brigade.

To achieve this, as noted in the brigade, the occupiers will implement:

  • Exit to the Sokol-Novopokrovskoye line. The development of events in this scenario will worsen the condition of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units on the Berdich-Semyonovka-Umanskoye line. And in the event of successful action in the direction of Umansky, create conditions for an operational cordon and expulsion of our troops from this area.

  • Exit to the Arkhangelskoye – Keramik line. The development of events in this scenario opens up opportunities in the future for the Russians to implement the “Toretsk option” - the encirclement of the city of Toretsk. But this path is significantly complicated by the presence on the northern front of Chasovoy Yar and Konstantinovka, the capture of which is not even visible.

In general, as the military notes, the majority of the defense area in the Avdeevsky direction from Solovyov to Karlovka is limited by obstacles in the form of the Volcha River and the Karlovsky Reservoir.

“This factor may complicate the withdrawal of units from the Berdichie-Semyonovka-Umanskoye-Netailovo line. Already now, the defense area from above is locked by the invaders in Solovyov. Moreover, for evacuation to this entire area there are only 4 bridges (highlighted in black) suitable for evacuating equipment and personnel. Three of them are located in the settlement of Novoselovka Pervaya, which, after the loss of Ocheretino, is within the reach of even enemy company artillery, not to mention larger artillery,” the message says.

In addition, if the Russians enter Karlovka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will lose a single evacuation route north of Karlovka, and here the Yasnobrodovka-Umanskoye border units will also be forced to retreat to the Novoselovka Pervaya area. The enemy also understands this, therefore, he has increased his efforts in the direction of Karlovka and is expanding his breakthrough towards Sokol-Novopokrovsky, they add in the 46th brigade.

In turn, a lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign Alex notes that the situation in the Avdeevsky direction is really the most difficult, even compared to Chasovy Yar. The latter, he said, has experienced units and clearly defined boundaries.

“I thank the command of the 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, who did not hold the boys near Berdich to the bitter end, because there could have been sad consequences. The boys were very exhausted,” the military man wrote.

WHERE IS SUCCESS IN THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE
Syrsky officially reported the tactical success of the Defense Forces. According to him, Ukrainian defenders in the Kherson direction managed to advance in the Veletensky area and establish control over the island of Nestriga. Also, our units will improve their tactical position in the Sinkovka area (Kupyanskoye direction) and Serebryansky forestry (Limanskoye direction).

As Dmitry Pletenchuk, a representative of the Southern Defense Forces, explained, the deoccupation of Nestriga Island is not of strategic, but of tactical importance. This is due to the fact that the Russians used it to establish firing positions and attacks on populated areas on the right bank of Kherson.

“This is primarily important for the quality of counter-sabotage measures. This location was freed from the possible presence of the enemy on it,” he said on Public Radio.

According to Pletenchuk, this island is closer to the right bank of the Kherson region and was actually the last one before the mouth of the Dnieper River.

Russian military completely liberated Semyonovka from the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the DPR
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian military has completely liberated the village of Semenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defense reported this on April 29.

“Units of the Center group of troops liberated Semyonovka in the DPR and defeated the formations of the 68th Infantry, 23rd, 115th Mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 109th Terrorist Defense Brigade and the Foreign Legion mercenaries in the areas of Novoaleksandrovka, Arkhangelsk, Tarasovka and Treasured in the DPR,” said the official representative of the department, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

In addition, the position of the Russian troops “West” and “South” also improved. During the battles with them, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost a total of up to 435 military personnel.

As Regnum reported, a day earlier the Russian Armed Forces liberated Novobakhmutovka in the DPR. Within 24 hours, units of the Center group repelled ten counterattacks by Ukrainian Armed Forces attack aircraft, eliminated up to 380 military personnel and several pieces of equipment, including a tank, an armored vehicle, two M777 howitzers and an M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery unit.

After this, retired US Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson said that if the Russian military continues to advance at this pace, they will take control of Odessa, and there will be nothing left under Ukrainian rule except Kiev. According to him, the West’s attempts to influence the outcome of the conflict by supplying weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not successful.

The next day, the deputy battalion commander of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mikhail Onufer, noted that the liberation of the Russian Armed Forces of the city of Chasov Yar in the DPR would become for them the starting line for an offensive in the direction of Konstantinovka, which would give them the opportunity to work from the height at which it is located, pulling up anti-aircraft systems there and camouflage military equipment between the houses.

Footage of the assault on Krasnogorovka 04/27/2024
Again the breakthrough of armored vehicles into the city and the landing of troops to support the assault operations in the city. There is intense fire in the city from both sides.

The fighting for Krasnogorovka continues. There is a mix-up in the center near the Refractory Plant, as well as in the north-eastern outskirts.

PS. The Russian Ministry of Defense today announced the liberation of Semenovka.

Clean-up operations also continue in Berdychi, Keramika and Novokalinovo. They will be announced soon too.

Our troops also advanced from Ocheretino to the northwest and took an important height. In the northern regions of Ocheretino, cleanup is still ongoing.

General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was furious because of the major success of the Russian military

The liberation of the village of Ocheretino by the Russian military will give them a significant advantage in the combat zone. Retired General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos announced this on April 29on the Ukrainian TV channel “Direct”.

According to Krivonos, the flight of Ukrainian fighters from positions in Ocheretino is a serious systemic failure, since this is a rather large settlement and there are industrial buildings and multi-story buildings in it.

“Given the steppe zone, the use of these high-rise buildings and industrial zones will allow the enemy to observe much further ahead,” he said.

Taking control of Ocheretino will open the way for the Russian army to Mirnograd and further to the center of the Pokrovsky region of the DPR - the city of Pokrovsk, the retired general noted.

“To say that I am dissatisfied is to put it mildly, I just want to ask certain commanders questions: how long can you keep stepping on the same rake?” - he added.

As Regnum reported, on April 22, co-chairman of the coordinating council for the integration of new regions, head of the “We are together with Russia” movement, Vladimir Rogov, said that Ukrainian fighters had fled their positions from the village of Ocheretino. He clarified that after this, the Russian military entered the village and raised state flags in its center.

Forbes American columnist David Ax wrote on April 27 that Ukrainian troops would lose positions in several villages in the Ocheretino region. He called the most realistic outcome for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the current situation a retreat to the west.

Official representative of the Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov said on April 26 that the group of Russian troops “Center” repelled eight Ukrainian attacks in one day, including in the Ocheretino area.

The defense forces withdrew from Berdychi, Ocheretiny and Novomykhailivka to preserve personnel, - OSUV "Khortytsia"

The Russians managed to break through and gain a foothold in a part of the Ocheretine village.

    by Ivanna Kapustyanska

The defense forces withdrew from the settlements of Berdychi, Semenivka and Novomykhailivka to more prepared and protected positions in order to protect personnel.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Khortytsia OSU, Nazar Voloshyn, on the air of "Hromadskyi Radio".

According to him, it was no longer possible to protect these settlements, so the Defense Forces withdrew to more prepared and protected positions.

"Keeping the entire personnel there was a threat to the lives of the military. The units of the Defense Forces withdrew to more prepared and protected positions, with the aim of regaining those positions that the Russian army has so far captured," he said.

Voloshyn added that the current situation in this direction is extremely dynamic. Some settlements "change hands" in a day. According to him, the Russians managed to break through and gain a foothold in a part of the village of Ocheretine.

"The part where the enemy is located is completely under our fire control. All measures are being taken to knock the enemy out of this part, heavy battles are ongoing, but the situation is under the control of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I want to emphasize that in order to increase our tactical success in the Ocheretiny region and to break through our defenses, the enemy deployed four brigades of the Russian Armed Forces in this direction," he notes.

The defense forces are trying to stabilize the situation, in particular, in the Avdiiv region, and regain control over Ocheretyn.

"For this purpose, the leadership decided to introduce additional forces and resources from the reserve," says the spokesman of the "Khortytsia" OSU.

Earlier, the head of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky reported that the enemy is actively attacking along the entire front line, in some directions and has tactical successes. There is a dynamic change in the situation, individual positions change "from hand to hand" several times during the day, which gives rise to an ambiguous understanding of the situation.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: April 29, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:55 Authorities for monitoring sanctions against North Korea at the UN confirmed that Russia hit Kharkov with a North Korean Hwasong-11 ballistic missile on January 2, which is a direct violation of Security Council sanctions.

22:46 In Odessa, the number of victims as a result of a missile attack has increased to 32, said Oleg Kiper, head of the OBA. Four people were killed, and another died as a result of a stroke caused by the attack. There are 25 wounded in hospitals, including two children and a pregnant woman. Seven people are in serious condition, including a four-year-old child. According to preliminary data, the Russians fired a ballistic missile with cluster munitions at one of the most popular locations among Odessa residents and guests of the city.

22:43 Ukraine will not be accepted into NATO either now or in the next few years, said Special Assistant to the US President Thomas Wright: “Since Ukraine is now in the midst of war, we will be able to take steps that would strengthen its defense and security here and now, and also in the next few years, so that when this moment arises, when Ukraine joins, it would be in a stronger position."

22:38 Ukraine is already receiving weapons that the United States previously announced as part of a new military assistance program, said White House Speaker Karine Jean-Pierre.

22:36 Odessa publics report that the vice-rector of the International Humanitarian University Boris Vasiliev died in the palace of students of the Law Academy. The rector of this university is ex-people's deputy Sergei Kivalov, who was wounded.

22:33 Telegram is the absolute leader for communication and news consumption in Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian origin of the messenger has constantly caused controversy about the reliability of its use in conditions of war with Russia. A new reason for such conversations is the blocking of official chat bots of Ukrainian intelligence and the SBU on Telegram. The work of the bots was quickly restored, but the sediment, as they say, remained. Read more in the article Disputes around Telegram in Ukraine.

22:27 Zelensky said in an evening video message that he held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Headquarters today. I heard a detailed report from Syrsky on the situation at the front. In addition, there was a report from the heads of the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Security Service of Ukraine, and representatives of the Coordination Headquarters regarding negotiations on the release of prisoners. “It is extremely important that our state has clear communication with the relatives of prisoners. For each name, for each person, it should be clear - as much as possible - what work is being done so that our people return home,” the president emphasized.

21:52 Odessa was initially attacked with ballistics, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

21:35 On May 16, NATO will hold a meeting of the highest military body - the Military Committee. A meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council will also take place as part of the meeting.

21:19 Now the most “hot” is in the Avdeevsky direction. Under the pressure of the occupiers, the Defense Forces retreated to the west of Berdychi, Semenovka and Novomikhailovka. At the same time, there are sections of the front where it was possible to improve the tactical position of the Ukrainian troops. More details about the situation from the military and analysts themselves can be found in the article Where the Russian army presses and where it retreats.

21:06 The missile that Russia hit Odessa today contained shrapnel - it is used to destroy manpower, said Dmitry Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces: “The type of weapon is still being established. But I can state that on the walls around the affected object there are visible holes from shrapnel, which is used to destroy personnel and to conduct military operations, but not for attacks on civilian infrastructure and civilians."

20:58 The number of victims of the Russian strike on Odessa has increased to four people, 28 people were injured, including two children (16 and five years old) and one pregnant woman. Four of the wounded are in serious condition, said the head of the OVA Oleg Kiper.

20:50 The death toll as a result of the attack on Odessa has increased to three, 20 people were injured, said the mayor of the city Gennady Trukhanov and showed a photo of the burning building of the Odessa Law Academy:

20:31 The situation in the Chasov Yar area in the Donetsk region is complex, but controlled, there are no Russian troops in the city, said Nazar Voloshin, speaker of the operational-strategic group of troops Khortitsa: “The enemy has concentrated efforts in several directions, creating a significant advantage in forces and means. attacks in some directions and even has tactical successes... In the surrounding area there were attempts by the enemy to bypass the city near the villages of Ivanovsky and Bogdanovka. The enemy’s goal is to take the city in a vice and go around it in a circle. But all the enemy’s attempts are suppressed by our units.”

20:20 Germany transferred IRIS-T missiles and ten Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, the country’s government reported. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also received a SKYNEX anti-aircraft missile system with ammunition, almost 30 thousand ammunition for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, a TRML-4D air surveillance radar, etc.

19:29 The Russians launched a missile attack on Odessa - according to preliminary information, two people and a dog were killed, eight people were injured, including a 12-year-old child, said Oleg Kiper, head of the OVA. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged. Local media write that the blow was struck at the palace of students of the Odessa Law Academy, which is called “Harry Potter’s castle.” Its owner is ex-People's Deputy Sergei Kivalov, who, according to social networks, was also wounded as a result of the attack.

18:38 The Russians attacked the Kievsky district of Kharkov, preliminary - KAB. One person was wounded, said the head of the OVA, Oleg Sinegubov. In addition, the Russian army carried out strikes with at least five KABs on populated areas of the Kharkov region, so far there were no casualties.

18:16 Ukraine did not introduce new restrictions as part of the derogation from obligations under the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, but reduced their list, said Minister of Justice Denis Maluska. He recalled that Ukraine, even after the introduction of martial law in 2022, warned the Council of Europe about possible restrictions on certain rights - this is what all countries in a state of war do. “And in April 2024, we once again clarified the list of existing restrictions and reduced it,” Maluska explained. Thus, according to him, Ukraine did not suspend protection in April, but reviewed and revoked the “warning about a possible restriction of certain rights.”

17:27 In German Bavaria, a 57-year-old Russian killed two Ukrainian servicemen. The suspect has already been detained. According to the preliminary version of the local police, a Russian citizen inflicted fatal wounds on Ukrainians with a knife. Everything that is known is in the material Murder of Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters in Bavaria.

16:48 Ukraine will soon receive the first ten of 50 ACSV 8x8 armored personnel carriers from Canada, Defense Minister Bill Blair said. According to him, at the beginning of summer the armored personnel carriers will be sent to Germany, where the Ukrainian military will become familiar with them, after which the soldiers will undergo training on the armored personnel carriers. The cars will arrive in Ukraine in the fall.

16:13 Zelensky said that military assistance from the United States has already begun to arrive: “Something has already begun to arrive, I won’t say in detail what exactly. Unfortunately, not everything is yet ready to fill our army and equip the appropriate number of brigades ". At the same time, the president noted that over the past six months, “systems or sometimes parts from the corresponding systems have been received thanks to funding that was provided for by nine agreements on security guarantees.”

15:42 Stoltenberg promised to “do everything” for Ukraine to become a NATO member. At the same time, he added that Kyiv will not receive an invitation to the summit in July: “In order for this decision to be made, we need all members of the Alliance to agree to this, we need consensus. Not a majority, but for all 32 members of the Alliance agreed. I do not expect that we will be able to reach such an agreement at the summit in July. But I think that we will be able to demonstrate that we are bringing Ukraine closer to membership."

The Secretary General also admitted that in recent months the allies have not provided the necessary support to Ukraine: “The United States has spent months unable to accept a package for Ukraine. European members of the Alliance have not delivered the amount of ammunition that they promised. We saw the consequences on the battlefield. Ammunition shortages allowed the Russians to advance on the front line. Insufficient air defense allows Russian missiles to hit more targets." Stoltenberg added that NATO countries should transfer weapons to Ukraine as a priority.

15:34 Zelensky said at a joint press conference with Stoltenber that there are no specifics yet on the supply of additional Patriot systems to Ukraine. According to him, there are only “first steps”, and currently an analysis is underway “in which countries there is what.” At the same time, the president assured that when the new systems arrive in Ukraine, “you and I will feel it.”

15:19 NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Kiev on an unannounced visit and has already met with Zelensky, the NATO press service reported. This is Stoltenberg's third visit to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion.

14:33 The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of the village of Semenovka in the Avdeevsky direction, this is confirmed by the map of the Ukrainian Deep State project. Ukrainian analysts also report that in this direction the Russians have advanced to the west of Ocheretino - towards Novoaleksandrovka, and also to the south, in the village of Netailovo.

13:51 The Russians shelled Kizomys, Kherson region, one person was killed, OVA reported.

13:28 In the combat units of the Southern Military District of the Russian Army, more than 18 thousand Russian military personnel left their service without permission, reports the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. Of these, about 12 thousand are from the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Armed Forces, which the Russian leadership constantly uses in combat operations in eastern Ukraine. Approximately 10 thousand of them were called up through mobilization, the remaining 2000 are contract soldiers. At the same time, in the 58th Combined Arms Army, which is also part of the Southern District of the Russian Army, the desertion rate is about 2,500 people.

12:50 According to the UN Monitoring Mission, during March 2024, 604 civilians were killed or wounded in Ukraine as a result of Russian strikes. British intelligence notes that the number of civilian casualties has increased by 20% compared to February. The casualties are due to enemy missile and air strikes, as well as an increase in shelling on the front line.

12:37 In the east of the country, the Russians attacked an energy facility, the Ministry of Energy reported. The equipment was damaged and the overhead line was disconnected. In the Donetsk region on the afternoon of April 28, due to the blackout of one of the overhead lines of the oblenergo, the substation and the household consumers connected to it were de-energized. Ukrenergo reported that due to the fighting there are new blackouts in the Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Nikolaev, Kharkov, and Kherson regions.

12:19 As a result of Russian aggression, Ukraine has lost half of its terminals, said Deputy Head of the Sea Ports Administration Dmitry Barinov. According to him, since 2022, there have been 39 missile and UAV attacks on Ukrainian ports. 215 objects were damaged, 153 vehicles and eight civilian ships were destroyed.

Barinov also recalled that before the war there were 18 ports in Ukraine: “They occupied five in Crimea. Then four more - Mariupol, Berdyansk, Kherson and Skadovsk. But we conquered Kherson. Unfortunately, we cannot use the Nikolaev region now, because that military operations are very close there."

11:39 Ukraine is developing ways to safely base F-16 fighters after receiving them, said Air Force spokesman Ilya Yevlash: “These are colossal means if we are talking about digging underground storage facilities and bunkers. This also takes time. Therefore, other methods are now being developed, how to arrange, where to place. We understand that this will be dispersed use on various types of runways, airfields, where it will be difficult for the enemy to find them.”

Yevlash added that "a different set of methods will be used to mislead the enemy and at the same time effectively use" the aircraft. According to him, “there are already a number of developments and thoughts on how it will be possible to deploy F-16 aircraft in Ukraine.”

11:05 Ukraine’s return of control over the island of Nestryga in the Kherson region will significantly improve the quality of counter-conversion measures, said Dmitry Pletenchuk, speaker of the Southern Defense Forces. He clarified that “we are not talking about strategy, but about portioned battles, this is more of a tactical significance. Locations that do not allow the enemy to approach our positions are important.”

10:54 European banks paid Russia more than 800 million euros in taxes in 2023 - this is four times more than before the full-scale war, writes the Financial Times. The newspaper calls this an example of how foreign companies are helping Moscow maintain financial stability during the war, despite Western sanctions. Seven assets of European banks remain in Russia.

10:23 Official Ukrainian bots on Telegram, which help in the fight against Russian aggression, have resumed work, the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security reported. We are talking about the GUR and SBU bots, as well as the Ministry of Digital Development bot єVorog.

09:42 Latvia transferred equipment to Ukraine for energy restoration, writes Delfi. The assistance package from Latvenergo included: a 250 MVA transformer, which was previously used at the Riga HPP; compressed air compressor GR110; 60 tons of transformer oil.

09:08 In the Donetsk region over the past 24 hours, three people were wounded as a result of Russian shelling - in Krasnogorovka, Zhelanny and Ptichye, said the head of the OBA Vadim Filashkin.

09:01 The Russians fired at the village. Streleche, Kharkov district, one person was wounded. Two more people were injured as a result of shelling from the MLRS in Kupyansk, said the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

08:54 Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops shelled ten settlements in the Zaporozhye region 346 times. As a result of the attack on the Zaporozhye region, one person was wounded, said the head of the OVA, Ivan Fedorov.

08:29 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of April 29:

    • personnel - about 467,470 (+1320) people,

07:57 Over the past 24 hours, 131 military clashes took place at the front, the General Staff reported in its morning report. In particular, the Defense Forces repelled 55 enemy attacks in the Avdeevsky direction - in the areas of the settlements of Novokalinovo, Keramik, Arkhangelskoye, Umanskoye, Sokol, Ocheretino, Kalinovo, Solovevo, Novopokrovskoye, Novoselovka Pervaya and west of Semenovka, Donetsk region. Another 29 attacks were repulsed in the Bakhmut direction - in the areas of the settlements of Verkhnekamenskoye, Vyemka, Grigoryevka, Ivanovskoye, Kleshcheevka, Novy, Andreevka in the Donetsk region.

In addition, in the Liman direction, 18 attacks were repelled in the areas of the settlements of Kopanki, Novosergeevka in the Kharkov region, as well as Makeevka, Nevskoye, Serebryansky forestry in the Lugansk region and Terny in the Donetsk region; on Novopavlovsky - 15 attacks in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Georgievka, Vodyanoy, Novomikhailovka, Urozhaynyy, Donetsk region; in Kupyansky - six attacks in the areas of Berestovo, Kharkov region and Stelmakhovka, Lugansk region; on Orekhovsky - four attacks in the Staromayorsky districts of the Donetsk region; in Kherson - five attacks in the area of the village of Krynki, Kherson region.

06:26 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) states that the withdrawal of the Defense Forces from positions west of Avdievka has not yet contributed to the rapid advance of Russian forces. The Russian Army did not achieve relatively quick tactical successes west of Ocheretino, Solovyevo, Berdychi and Semenovka after the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from tactical positions in this area. According to analysts, this indicates that the Armed Forces of Ukraine retain the ability to slow down the advance of the Russian Federation.

00:31 Telegram blocked a number of official chat bots, including the Chief Intelligence Bot, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported. The department emphasized that this happened contrary to the rules and statements that Telegram management publicly declared. The GUR warned that the enemy is now creating bots with similar names, to which no personal data can be sent. GUR is already resuming the bot’s work on other platforms, and communication channels via Signal and WhatsApp are also available.

In addition to the GUR bot, a number of other chat bots through which Ukrainians transmitted information about the movement of Russian troops, “martyrs,” etc. were blocked. In particular, the chat bot єVorog, launched by the Ministry of Digital Development in 2022, as well as the chat bots of the SBU, stop_russian_war, were blocked.

    Europe
Macron Suggests Arming EU with Nuclear Weapons for 'Credible' Defence
Trying to nobly spread the cost of maintaining the things?
[Breitbart] “Let’s put everything on the table and look at what truly protects us in a credible way,” he continued, but maintained that France would keep “its specificity but is ready to contribute more to the defence of European soil”.

“Being credible also means having long-range missiles that would deter the Russians. And there is nuclear weapons: French doctrine is that we can use them when our vital interests are threatened. I have already said that there is a European dimension to these vital interests,” the president said.

Macron’s comments drew condemnation from both sides of the political aisle in France, with François-Xavier Bellamy, the leader of the centre-right Les Républicains (LR) in the upcoming European Parliament elections, declaring: “A French head of state should not say that.”

“This is exceptionally serious because this touches on the very nerve of French sovereignty,” Bellamy added.

Conservative populist National Rally MEP Thierry Mariani responded: “Macron is becoming a national danger… After nuclear weapons, there will follow France’s permanent seat on the UN Security Council, which will also be sold off to the European Union.”

The suggestion was also criticised by the left, with the La France Insoumise (LFI) parliamentary group proclaiming that Macron “has just dealt a new blow to the credibility of French nuclear deterrence”.

“Under the cover of defending European soil, Macron wants to liquidate French strategic autonomy,” LFI deputy Bastien Lachaud added.

Since the United Kingdom left the European Union under Brexit, France has stood as the lone nuclear-armed power in the bloc. While Britain’s nuclear weapons are still available for the protection of Europe under the terms of the NATO alliance, there have been growing calls from globalists to strengthen the power of Brussels and even potentially to entrust the EU with its own dedicated army.

As opposed to the United States and the Soviet Union (now Russia), France has long adopted a nuclear weapons strategy of “minimum deterrence”, boasting an arsenal of around 290 nukes compared to around 3,700 in the U.S. and around 4,500 in Russia. The “deterrence of the strong by the weak” operates under the assumption that the ability to launch precision strikes against an enemy’s critical infrastructure will be enough to prevent countries like Russia from launching an attack on France.

Although a member of NATO, France has maintained some of its independence after it withdrew from the Western alliance’s Nuclear Planning Group (NPG), meaning that its nuclear policy is solely at the discretion of the French president. The nuclear doctrine of the country stipulates that nukes can only be used under extreme circumstances of self-defence or in situations where the “vital interests” of the nation are at stake.

President Macron has argued that such “vital interests” of France also include a “European dimension”, suggesting he would be willing to put the use of nuclear weapons on the table if another EU member state were attacked.

Conversely, Macron said in 2022 that France would not use nukes if Russia launched a nuclear attack on Ukraine, saying: “Our doctrine is based on the fundamental interests of the Nation and they are very clearly defined. If there were a nuclear ballistic attack in Ukraine, these interests would not be called into question.”

However, while the French leader was initially a proponent of peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow and appeared to be hesitant to broaden the conflict, he has since recast himself as one of the leading hawks in Europe, similarly calling for a “debate” about sending NATO troops into Ukraine.
