Clinton calls off Election Night fireworks
[NYP] Hillary Clinton’s planned celebratory Election Night fireworks display over the Hudson River that The Post exclusively reported on has been canceled, it was revealed Monday.

"They do have a permit for fireworks, but at this point we believe the fireworks is canceled," NYPD chief of intelligence Tommy Galati said at a city press conference on Election Day security with Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner James O’Neill.

When asked by a reporter why the fireworks were canceled, Galati responded, "I cannot tell you that."

Clinton was planning aerial detonations for her potential victory that would last for two minutes starting as early at 9:30 p.m. -- a half-hour after the polls close in New York.

WIKILEAKS: Campaign Manager Says ‘Clinton Had Little Consideration For Ethics'
[Daily Caller] Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has "little consideration for ethics," according to Robby Mook, her campaign manager.

Mook’s comment was included in a devastating list he compiled of problems associated with Clinton’s decision to appoint a longtime friend to her campaign after he helped her raise $72 million for the U.S. Expo at the 2010 Shanghai World’s Fair.

The comment -- "When soliciting contributions, Clinton had little consideration for ethics" -- appeared in an attachment to a March 11, 2015, email made public Sunday by WikiLeaks in its latest release of materials hacked from Clinton national campaign chairman John Podesta’s Gmail account.

Mook questioned the appointment of Jose Villarreal as an officer in the campaign, telling Podesta that he "found a potential flag about Jose Villarreal" and that "it looks like he’s snared up in the conflict of interest stuff at State" and "there’s a real argument here that he was at the nexus of foundation/state issues."

Hillary Clinton's big ideas for tanking the US economy
h/t Instapundit
The latest spin out of Washington is that stock-market declines over the last 10 days are due to Donald Trump’s surge in the polls. Wall Street tends to hate change, even when it’s positive. And Donald Trump may be seen as a change agent who will rattle the cages in Washington, and perhaps on Wall Street.

But something else is being overlooked here: Hillary Clinton’s economic agenda and the financial markets.

Hillary says she has a cabinet full of ideas. Unfortunately, most of them are dimwitted. Here are five that could hurt employment, growth and stocks.

1) Raise the minimum wage to $12 or even $15 an hour.

2) Hike taxes.

3) Subsidize 500 million solar panels.

4) Offer free college tuition.

5) Increase Social Security benefits.

Stop Hillary
h/t Instapundit
I was not happy to vote for Donald Trump, but Hillary Clinton must be stopped. She and her coterie of soft-handed, Chardonnay-sipping fascists are, in equal parts, malignant and stupid, and many of us believe her hate-fueled pogrom against normal Americans will stand a significant chance of leading to real civil conflict. I’ve seen with my own eyes what horror awaits at the bottom of the slippery slope of corruption and oppression, and I’ve warned of it again and again. This dumb woman’s personal psychodramas are poised to fuel a rocket sled ride downward to disaster.

...Hillary Clinton, with her seething contempt not only for the Constitution but for that "irredeemable" and "deplorable" half of all Americans, is a manifest danger to our country. I don’t want the world my book depicts to come true. That’s why we must stop her. And the only way to do that is to vote for Donald Trump.
And the man didn't even consider that she'll do abroad

Iron age brew recreated from ancient cauldron's remnants
You can now toast to the Iron Age with a 2,500-year-old brew.

A team of researchers worked with a brewery in Milwaukee to recreate an ancient beer from remnants of the alcoholic beverage that were found at an Iron Age burial site in Germany, reported Milwaukee Public Radio (WUWM). Though the acidic soil had dissolved the skeleton, archaeologists found metal weapons and a cauldron at the burial site.

The cauldron, which dates back to between 400 B.C. to 450 B.C., was full of an ancient mead when it was buried, according to study leader Bettina Arnold, an archaeologist and anthropologist at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

"The dead man in Tumulus 17 Grave 6 had been sent into the afterlife not only with his weapons but with about 14 liters of an alcoholic beverage that he could have used to establish himself as an important person in the next world as he had been in this one," Arnold, who uncovered the cauldron back in 2000, explained in a blog post.
Hats off and bottoms up to Arnold, who had what it took to recognize the valuable find for what it was!
Arnold and her team worked with a paleobotanist to analyze the alcoholic remnants and derive a recipe for the ancient brew. The alcoholic drink was probably a type of mead known as braggot, Arnold told WUWM. The brew, made from a blend of barley and honey, also contained meadow sweet (often found in prehistoric mead) and mint, the researchers said.

Milwaukee's Lakefront Brewery then worked with the researchers' recipe to re-create the brew, which was available to taste during the 6th Annual Wisconsin Science Festival on Oct. 22, where the research was presented.
A good application of the best modern science has to offer, in my opinion.

Greenfield: The Fall of an FBI Director
Every agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation takes an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” and to “bear true faith and allegiance to the same.” And he swears to “faithfully discharge the duties of the office.”

It is much the same oath taken by members of Congress, by military officers and government employees. It is an oath that goes back to Washington and Lincoln. Its origins lie in the Constitution.

And FBI Director James Comey violated it.

The oath is not to any president or government, but to the impartial law of the Constitution. It says that no one is above the law. James Comey twice stated implicitly that one politician is above the law.

Twice now, Comey faced a choice between his own rank and file agents who dutifully followed their oaths and faithfully discharged the duties of their office by investigating criminal conduct at the highest level and his political superiors who sought to protect the criminal conduct from coming to light.

Twice now, Comey submitted to a cover-up. Twice he violated his oath, sold out his own investigators and got nothing for his troubles except a swift kick in the teeth from the national press corps.

Like the Weebles, Comey wobbles. The Bureau’s agents pursue their leads. The DOJ scowls and warns. And Comey tries to serve both masters. He compromises both the investigation and the cover up. He serves up information while selling out its conclusions. His people find evidence of criminality while their boss whitewashes the culprits. Even as new damning emails come out every day, Comey shambles out to wave the whole thing away. He tries to do the right thing and the wrong thing at the same time.

Now Comey did the right thing and the wrong thing again. The order is predictable. The FBI director will only do the right thing until he’s intimidated into doing the wrong thing.

The last time around, one side wanted a cover-up and the other side wanted an investigation. And Comey obligingly gave them both what they wanted. His investigation also doubled as a cover-up. And his cover-up also doubled as an investigation. It all worked very well until Comey had to make a choice.

And Comey chose the cover-up. He laid out evidence of illegal actions and denied they were illegal.

He tried to play the trick a second time, but by now everyone was wise to it. The left demanded an instant cover-up and lambasted the looming lawman for even considering an investigation. It didn’t take long before Comey folded like a cheap Korean car. After being threatened with violations of the Hatch Act and Maureen Dowd no longer telling her media friends that he looks like Henry Fonda, he gave up.

If Comey was expecting gratitude for eventually agreeing to a cover-up, he had misjudged his audience.

"Today's letter makes Director Comey's actions nine days ago even more troubling," Senator Feinstein hissed.

Al Franken shoved his Droopy Dog face into the lens of the nearest CNN camera. "We will have hearings. I'm sure that FBI Director Comey will be before us," he bellicosely lisped.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Here's What The FBI Found In The Emails On Anthony Weiner's Laptop
In which Newsweek carries Hillary's water, spinning hard enough to turn it into butter. The two key sentences, in the first and last paragraphs, are in bold.
[Newsweek] The Federal Bureau of Investigation determined that almost every email discovered in a laptop used primarily by the husband of an aide to Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another John C. Calhoun ...
was a duplicate of previously produced documents or personal emails, a person close to the case told Newsweek.
As a result, FBI Director James Comey sent a letter to Congress Sunday saying the new emails have not changed the bureau’s earlier decision that no crime occurred with Clinton’s use of a private server while she was secretary of state.

The night of the disclosure, Newsweek reported that the emails were from as many as three accounts--one through Yahoo, one on the domain clintonemail.com, and one from an account Abedin used in support of one of Weiner’s campaigns for office. Last week, Newsweek learned that that account was through Gmail. In other words, Abedin’s personal account provided by the State Department for non-classified emails was not involved. Abedin, who did not know Clinton used a private server for her emails, told the bureau in an April interview that she used the account on the clintonemail.com domain only for issues related to the secretary’s personal affairs, such as communicating with her friends. For work-related records, Abedin primarily used the email account provided to her by the State Department.

From the information obtained that first day by Newsweek, it was already clear that, because of the accounts involved, almost all of the documents were going to be duplicates or personal emails. In other words, from the opening moments of this inquiry, there were people in government who already knew what the outcome of this new FBI effort would be, yet it took the bureau another nine days to confirm those details.

Here is where the emails came from. Because Clinton preferred to read documents on paper rather than on a screen, emails and other files were often printed out and provided to her either at her office or home, where they were delivered in a diplomatic pouch by a security agent. Abedin informed the FBI in April that, like many State Department officials, she found the government network technology cumbersome, and she had great trouble printing documents there, investigative records show. As a result, she sometimes transferred emails from her unclassified State Department account to either her Yahoo account or her account on Clinton’s server, and printed the emails from there. A person close to the case said she does not appear to have ever forwarded emails to her Gmail account for printing.

Abedin would use this procedure for printing documents when she received emails she believed Clinton needed to see and when the secretary forwarded emails to her for printing. Abedin told the FBI she would often print these emails without reading them. Abedin printed a large number of emails this way, in part because, investigative records show, other staff members considered her Clinton’s "gatekeeper" and often sent Abedin electronic communications they wanted the secretary to see. The evening of Comey’s announcement, a government official told Newsweek that this procedure for printing documents appeared to be how the emails ended up on the laptop shared by Abedin and her husband.

Since then, additional details were developed as to the specifics of how the information appeared on the laptop. Weiner, who is currently in a rehabilitation program for people suffering with sexually related addictions, told people connected to the case that he had synched his wife’s cell phone to the laptop in 2013, transferring all of her data from the mobile device onto the computer. He did so to ensure her phone was backed up so that, if it were ever damaged, she would still have the data, according to a person connected to the case. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
that information has not been ultimately confirmed as the means by which the emails appeared on the laptop. "He may think he knows how it happened, and he may be right,’’ one person connected to the case said. "But no one has proven that to be the case yet."

#1  Seems if they could determine this within a week Comey could have avoided announcing the FBI was going to reopen the investigation altogether.

#2  Democrats will accept this because it fits their wishes and fulfills their needs.
Comey will go down in History as a Clown. He's toast now, no matter what he does. He has lost credibility for Judgement and Integrity. The Bottom line is that now the American Public can't trust the FBI for much. And it is apparent that the FBI is compromised and intimidated. The DOJ is a Tool and corrupt as well.

The State Sept. is a bought and paid for bunch of Shills.

The President of the United States is a mouth in a suit. You can keep your health Plan period.
Somehow, I do not think he is the MESSIAH and Hope and Change were hype for suckers. The people who voted for Obama ( twice ) are not the brightest people in the room. Black are screwed and used like Puppets. The Left tells you where you can Pee.

The Constitution of the United States is punked. Nobody including the Elected Cingress is educated enough to have ever read the silly thing. The Marines and the Military take an Oath and shine their shoes.

Israel asks France to cancel peace parley, calls for direct talks with PA
[Jpost] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s envoys on Monday rejected a French call that it attend an international peace conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that will likely be held in December in Paris.

Only direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians will lead to a final agreement for a two-state solution, Netanyahu’s envoys, attorney Yitzhak Molcho and acting National Security Council head Yaakov Nagel said.

Janet Reno Tango Uniform
[NYT] Janet Reno, who rose from a rustic life on the edge of the Everglades to become attorney general of the United States -- the first woman to hold the job -- and whose eight years in that office placed her in the middle of some of the most divisive episodes of the Clinton presidency, died on Monday at age 78.

She died at her home in Miami-Dade County, Fla., from complications of Parkinson’s disease, according to her sister, Margaret Hurchalla. The disease was diagnosed in November 1995, while she was still in office.

Ms. Reno’s tenure as attorney general was bracketed by two explosive events: a deadly federal raid on the compound of a religious cult in Waco, Tex., in 1993, and the seizing in 2000 by federal agents of Elián González, a young Cuban refugee who was at the center of an international custody battle and a political tug of war.
Con't.

Terror Networks
What Will Replace ISIS?
[SultanKnish] Before long the same administration that declared the fighting in Iraq over several times will claim victory over ISIS. The timetable for its push against the Islamic State appears to have less do with the victimized Christians and Yazidis who have been prevented from coming here as refugees in favor of Syrian Muslims than with the Clinton presidential campaign. Like Obama’s declarations that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were over, the announcement that ISIS has been defeated will be premature.

It is based on a profound misunderstanding and misreading of Islamic terrorism.
IMO, it's based on the profound misunderstanding of every single thing in the real world: from basic facts of economics to basic facts of psychology
Long before its current string of defeats, ISIS had begun evolving into another Al Qaeda; a multinational alliance of Jihadists scattered around the world. Bombing Mosul isn’t hard, but try bombing Marseille, Brussels or London. There is no doubt that the ability of ISIS to temporarily establish a caliphate allowed it to build a network that could carry out terror attacks from New York to Miami to Nice to Munich. But it would be dangerous to assume that losing Iraq and Syria will stop ISIS.

ISIS doesn’t matter. The idea of ISIS does. And the idea of ISIS is Islamic supremacism.

...The bigger error though is to think that we are fighting an organization. We are fighting an idea. That is not to contend, as Obama does, that we can debate it to death. It is not the sort of idea that argues with words, but with bullets, bombs and swords. But neither does it just go away if you seize a city.

...Islam originally spread into a vacuum created by civilizational decline. Civilizational decline is why it is rising once again. An obscure local terror group eventually turned into ISIS by filling a power vacuum. Even as Obama performs another touchdown dance, some other group will be making that same journey. Its mission will be the familiar one of replacing our civilization with its own.

Until we come to terms with this civilizational struggle, we will go on fighting endless wars in the sand and coping with endless terror attacks in our own cities because we have failed to recognize the nature of the enemy. We are not fighting an acronym, whether it’s ISIS or ISIL; we are fighting an Islamic State.

This is a war to determine whether the future will belong to the West or to Islam.

Elementary school cancels mock election after kids chant ‘Trump'
[Wash Times] A New York elementary school has canceled its traditional mock presidential election after kids chanted "Trump" and repeated "negative rhetoric about minorities," according to the school principal.

Children at Jericho Elementary School in Centereach will be voting for their favorite school lunch instead of their favorite presidential candidate after their mock campaign season got too heated.

"Some people were getting angry because some people like Trump and some people like Clinton," fifth-grader Miranda Waters told a local ABC News affiliate. "Some people think Clinton’s not good. Some think Trump’s not good. So there’s a lot of arguments going on, and I don’t like that."

School officials decided to cancel the mock election to prevent minority students "from feeling uncomfortable," according to Glen Rogers, the school’s principal.

"Teachers have said they’ve heard some kids in the cafeteria chanting ’Trump! Trump! Trump!’ or saying they don’t want Muslims here," Mr. Rogers told ABC News.

U.S. stock futures surge after Clinton cleared by FBI
[Reuters] U.S. equity index futures rallied at the open on Sunday as bullish sentiment returned to Wall Street following the largest streak of losses on the S&P 500 since 1980.

The 1.3 percent move in S&P 500 e-mini futures ESc1 cut in nearly half the losses in futures over the past nine sessions, and came a few hours after the FBI said that newly discovered emails had not changed the agency's conclusion that no charges were warranted in the case of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a private server.

The move in equity futures came in a surge of volume as electronic trading kicked off for the week at 6 p.m. EST (2300 GMT).

If the upturn in S&P 500 futures carries through the day on Monday, it would put an end to the longest daily losing streak in the benchmark stock index .SPX in more than 35 years.

The run of losses had come as Clinton appeared to have lost momentum over Republican rival Donald Trump in some public opinion polls after FBI director James Comey said on Oct. 28 that additional emails had been found and would be reviewed.

Bill Clinton Calls ‘Coal Country' Most Racist ‘Anti-Immigrant' Part Of America
[Daily Caller] Former president Bill Clinton, who previously took flack for mocking the "coal people" in West Virginia and Kentucky, accused "coal country" of being the "most anti-immigrant" part of America while speaking at a private fundraiser for Hillary Clinton.

As he did when criticizing the "coal people," Clinton again singled out Kentucky and West Virginia while speaking to the audience of wealthy Democratic donors in November 2015.

"One of the reasons I’m for immigration reform is that on balance immigrants add to the employment base, not take away from it," Bill said, according to a leaked transcript of the speech.

He added that housing problems "in the most anti-immigrant parts of America, like in coal country, West Virginia and Kentucky, don’t have anything to do with immigrants."

Utah police officer dies after struck by suspect's car during chase
[FOXNEWS] A police officer in suburban Salt Lake City died Sunday after a stolen car struck him in the street during a chase, Sherlocks said.

West Valley City police said 25-year-old Officer Cody Brotherson was standing outside his vehicle deploying spike strips to stop the car on Sunday morning. He died at the scene.

Police said the car stopped after striking the officer, and Sherlocks were questioning three people in the vehicle.

West Valley City police said Brotherson had been with the department since December 2013.

The chase began around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officers saw three people steal the car from an apartment complex, and the group took off after police went after them, Sherlocks said.

West Valley City is about 10 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.

Regime shells nursery school in Syria, 8 children die
[AA.TR] At least eight children were killed and 15 others injured when regime forces shelled a nursery in opposition-held Harasta city, a northeastern suburb of the capital Damascus, a local civil defense official told Anadolu Agency.

The Syrian regime targeted Bunel al-Mustakbel nursery, Muhammad Adem said, adding the artillery fire began when the children were playing in the playground.

The injured children were rushed to nearby hospitals, Adem added.

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout Montefiore's foot was still stuck and the hound had completely soaked his uniform with slobber...
Syrian warplanes also struck the Hammuriyah neighborhood in Damascus, Adem said; number of casualties there was not known yet.

Another civil defense official in northwestern Aleppo province said Russian warplanes hit residential areas of Urum neighborhood.

Three non-combatants were killed and dozens others were maimed, Necip Ensari said.

Civil defense teams rescued a number of people under the rubble of collapsed buildings, he added.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the Bashir al-Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests -- which erupted as part of the "Arab Spring" uprisings -- with unexpected ferocity.

Since then, more than a quarter of a million people have been killed and more than 10 million displaced across the war-battered country, according to the UN.

Afghanistan
Nearly 200 Security Forces Under Siege By Taliban
A number of Parliament Members (MPs) and the families of soldiers have said almost 200 security force members are under siege by the Taliban in four districts of Uruzgan and southern Helmand provinces‎.

They have appealed to government to step in and help.

MPs from the provinces and families of the affected soldiers said if government does not break the siege, there will be shocking consequences.

"If government does not pay attention to them and does not rescue them, we will witness another tragedy," said Raihana Azad, an MP from Uruzgan.

The families indicate that the soldiers have been under siege for about two months but the Ministry of Defense (MoD) has said the issue has been resolved.

"They are not under siege, but there was problems in the Ismaiel military base because of its geographic location. Then they were put together in Merwais base," said Mohammad Radmanish, deputy spokesman of MoD.

"He called me and said it is about two days that we have not eaten anything and said it may be the last time you hear my voice. It is very difficult and painful for me," said a mother whose son is under siege in Uruzgan.

Nearly 200 soldiers have been under Taliban siege in the Gizab, Chora, Deh Rawudand Charchino districts of Uruzgan province.

There have however been reports in the past of soldiers under siege who have then been kidnapped and killed by insurgents.

"If government does not break the siege and does not rescue them, the trust between officers and soldiers, between government and soldiers will weaken," said Atiqullah Amarkhil, a former military officer.

China-Japan-Koreas
Two ex-presidential aides arrested in South Korea
[Iran Press TV] A court in South Korea has issued arrest warrants for two former aides to President Park Geun-hye for their suspected involvement in a political scandal that has plunged the country in crisis.

In a statement on Sunday, the Seoul Central District Court said that it had granted a warrant to prosecutors to arrest An Chong-bum, a former senior advisor to Park who had already been in jug under an emergency detention order and who now faces charges of abusing power and attempted extortion.

The court also issued an arrest warrant for Jung Ho-sung, another former presidential aide accused of leaking classified information and passing on presidential documents to Choi Soon-sil, whose unconventionally close relationship with Park triggered the scandal.

Eight presidential aides had earlier resigned in connection with the scandal.

Allegations were first reported by media that the 60-year-old Choi manipulated her close ties with the president to persuade local business institutions into donating large sums to foundations run by her.

Choi, who herself was formally detained last week, is also accused of intervening in governmental affairs and having had access to potentially confidential government data despite lacking any official position or a security clearance.

Public outrage over the scandal brought tens of thousands of South Koreans to the streets in the capital on Saturday to demand the resignation of Park.

Ohio official: 'Extremely questionable, if not illegal behavior' outside polling station
[FOXNEWS] An unidentified male on Sunday potentially violated Ohio election law by standing outside a polling station to hand out invitations to an event touting appearances by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another John C. Calhoun ...
and NBA star LeBron James.

"It is clear that this is extremely questionable, if not illegal behavior," a front man for Secretary of State Jon Husted’s office said after reviewing a video of the incident taken by the Fox News Channel.

Husted told Fox last week that his office would investigate any allegation of fraud or tampering that is brought to his attention by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who warns of election "rigging" regularly, or anyone else.

Fox News first spotted the unidentified male Sunday making contact with dozens of people in the voting line, handing out small pieces of paper with instructions about how to RSVP for the event at the nearby Cleveland Public Auditorium, several hours later.

The bottom of the flyer stated: "Printed in House, Paid for by the Ohio Democratic Party."

Pak registered voters in the past overwhelmingly supported the Republican Party because it was perceived as being pro-Pakistain when it came to American aid to country.

Hillary to win US election, predicts Hina Khar

will win the United States presidential election as she is considered more suitable, respected, experienced and sensible candidate for the slot, not only in the US but also in other countries of the world.

Donald Trump will lose the election because of his extremism and hatred towards other religious communities--particularly the Moslems, she has predicted.

"Though the contest for the US presidential elections appears to be neck and neck between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, I am of the view that Ms Clinton will win. [REALCLEARPOLITICS] FRANKEN: I think what's troubling that we have heard out of the FBI, I think it was troubling that he put that vague letter out 11 days before the election. Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Shopian Police today busted a bad boy hideout in Dubjan forests in Shopian district of South Kashmire and recovered huge quantity of winter supplies which they had stored there.

Yesterday security forces killed a Hizbul Mujahideen bad boy in a shootout while four others escaped taking the cover of dense bushes in Shopian forest area of South Kashmire.

These turbans were in a forest hideout and were planning to settle there in winter. They were making winter preparations but the security forces foiled their plans.

In the meantime, police and Army cordoned off Panaer forest area of Tral after gun shots were heard this evening.

Earlier, in the day security forces had cordoned off the forest area after they received information about presence of turbans there. However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
the operation was called off after no turbans were found there.

He claimed that the murderous Moslems, linked to a banned outfit, were involved in the attack on a Rawalpindi-bound passenger train near the Aab-e-Gum railway station in October.

Gazan fisherman indicted for smuggling to Hamas
[Ynet] Attempt to smuggle weapons to Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", from Egypt using a fishing boat thwarted by Egyptian army; indicted individual managed to deliver diving equipment and cigarettes to Hamas's Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigade.

A 22-year-old Gazook fisherman was indicted Sunday in the Be'er Sheva District Court for engagement in criminal activity against Israel on behalf of Hamas.

Among other things, the indictment against Mahmoud ibn Said al-Saidi noted that he carried out smuggling operations on behalf of Hamas from Egypt, delivering to the terror organization diving equipment and cigarettes.

The smuggling was thwarted only when the suspect attempted to deliver weapons to Hamas after he was caught by the Egyptian military.

According to the indictment, in 2013 activists from the Hamas military brigade of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam approached al-Saidi seeking his assistance in acquiring military and diving equipment using a boat he received from Hamas.

Al-Saidi was asked to smuggle 50 diving suits, 50 flippers, 20 sets of binoculars and 6 oxygen balloons in return of $1,000.

When he arrived on the Egyptian side of the Gazoo border, he met five masked individuals who informed him that his equipment exceeded the permitted weight and was therefore only able to deliver half of the diving equipment. Two days later he repeated the same journey to complete the mission.

In addition, al-Saidi was requested to smuggle electrodes for welding in return for $300 but, in the end, only succeeded in smuggling cartons of cigarettes and tobacco in return for a payment of $400.

He later attempted to smuggle a number of weapons amounting to 200kg, according to the indictment, for $1,200. During the operation however, he was spotted near Egypt by the country’s army, prompting its soldiers to fire upon him, injuring one of his accomplices in the process.

The indictment also lists al-Saidi’s criminal activities which included establishment of contact with foreign agents, conspiracy to commit crime and providing services and resources to terror organizations.

The prosecution requested from the courts that the al-Saidi be kept under arrest until the conclusion of the legal proceedings against him.

'Massive' Campaign Launched To Retake Raqqa, ISIS' So-Called Capital
NPR, in all its snooty glory:
Targeting "the obscurantists [who] have taken this city as capital for their so-called state," Syrian rebel forces have launched a military offensive aimed at kicking ISIS out of Raqqa. The groups waging the campaign, Operation Wrath Of Euphrates, is U.S.-backed and Kurdish-led.

Senior members of the rebel force proclaimed the start of the campaign this weekend in Ain Issa, a town about 35 miles north of Raqqa — halfway between the larger city and the Turkish border.

From Beirut, NPR's Peter Kenyon reports for our Newscast unit:

"There was no immediate comment from the U.S. military. Washington sees the Syrian Kurds as an effective partner in the fight against ISIS. Turkey, another ally in the coalition, disagrees sharply, calling them terrorists aligned with Turkey's outlawed Kurdish militants. Turkey has lobbied to be part of the operation in place of the Kurdish fighters.

"The Kurdish-led rebels say the operation, including Arab and Syrian Turkmen fighters, will start in the countryside outside Raqqa and move toward the city."

The push toward Raqqa comes days after Iraqi forces entered Mosul, an ISIS stronghold in Iraq that's around 280 miles to the east of the Syrian city.

US wants ‘local’ forces in nascent op to capture Daesh-held Raqqah
[Iran Press TV] "Local" forces must be in the "vanguard" of a fight to capture the Syrian ISIS-held city of Raqqah, says the US special envoy to the so-called coalition against the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorists.

Brett McGurk made the remarks while speaking Sunday at a news conference in Amman, the capital of Jordan, another member of the coalition, officially called the Global Coalition To Counter ISIS, which has been operating in Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.

"When it comes to Raqqah, we want force that ultimately liberates Raqqah that is primarily from the local area - Arabs from the area," McGurk told news hounds. "And so we have trained many of these fighters and that force will continue to grow as we get to the subsequent phase of the campaign."

His statement followed an announcement by some anti-government bully boy groups, known as Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), saying they had started operations to capture the ISIS de facto capital in the Moslem country.

The US-backed snuffies also said they would coordinate with the coalition forces.

McGurk referred to the announcement "came from the Syrian Democratic Forces, which is a coalition of Kurds and Arabs," saying, "I want to make very clear it is our principle priority throughout this campaign that the vanguard of the force that takes major territory from ISIS should be locally based forces."

Scandals, ‘politicization' of FBI date back to HRC's tenure as first lady
[Wash Times] Hillary Clinton remains embroiled in email and pay-for-play scandals from her days as secretary of state, but as first lady she also fell into questionable behavior that dogged her husband’s first term.

The scandals were known as Travelgate and Filegate, and both set off extensive investigations, resignations, charges and countercharges of lying, file-scrubbing and unethical conduct.

The early 1990s shared issues and people with 2016: Twenty years ago, there were the Clintons, of course. There was the "politicization" of the FBI, as one committee report put it. Mrs. Clinton’s staunch defender, Lanny Davis, appeared on TV blasting her critics, as he does today.

The conservative watchdog Judicial Watch sued the Clinton administration then, as it has done more recently, to compel disclosure of her State Department emails, of which more than 30,000 were destroyed -- off-limits to the FBI. In the 1990s, White House files also went missing.

"FBI leadership has a long history of kowtowing to the Clintons," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. "And it meant that front-line FBI agents were either boxed in, abused or hung out to dry. Nothing has changed in 20 years. If anything, the Clintons have perfected the art of intimidating federal law enforcement."
Con't.

WikiLeaks: Chelsea Clinton Used Foundation Cash for Her Wedding
[PoliZet] Former Clinton Foundation executive Doug Band accused Chelsea Clinton of using the private charity’s resources for her "wedding and life for a decade," according to a new email published by WikiLeaks in its Podesta emails series.

The new email was released Sunday as part of a chain, some of which had been released in earlier dumps from WikiLeaks.

In the January 2012 chain, Band told Hillary Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta that he had just learned from a close friend of former President Bill Clinton’s that Chelsea Clinton was responsible for launching an internal investigation into the foundation’s finances and the Clinton Global Initiative.

Band was less than pleased with Clinton’s "not smart" behavior, especially since he’d heard how Chelsea and one of former President George W. Bush’s daughters had engaged in "more and more chatter" over the foundation’s internal dealings. Podesta concurred, telling Band, "You are perfecting your skills for understatement."

But in the newly released email, Band took his spat with Clinton a step further when he insinuated that she was by no means innocent herself.

Iraq
Iraqi forces capture Razkia village
(IraqNews.com) Nineveh – Government forces have liberated the village of Razkia, south of Mosul, from Islamic State militants, commander of the liberating operations said on Sunday.

Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Yarallah, commander of the liberating operations codenamed “We Are Coming, Nineveh”, said in a press statement that the army’s 9th Armored Brigade has liberated the village of Razkia on al-Zab axis from the southwestern direction.

“The forces raised the Iraqi flag in the village after causing the enemy severe losses in lives and equipment,” said Yarallah.

The operation, carried out by Iraqi government forces, US air forces and al-Hashd al-Shaabi militias have been widely successful, driving out Islamic state fighters out of several parts of Mosul, the extremist group’s last bastion in Iraq. The group had renounced reference to Mosul as the capital of its proclaimed “Caliphate”, with many of its members reportedly attempting to flee to Syria.

Iraqi forces capture T-55 tank near Hayy al-Intsar

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Media officials with the Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday seizing a tank carrying equipment and rockets in the southwestern axis of Mosul.

The officials said in a press statement that the troops of the army’s 9th Armored Brigade confiscated a T-55 tank loaded with equipment and rockets in Hayy al-Intsar area in the southeastern axis of Mosul.

The joint security forces, backed by Army Aviation and international coalition are advancing in the military operations to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State’s grip, after the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced launching the battle to liberate the city of Mosul in

Iraqi forces in "temporary" retreat near Mosul

[AAWSAT] Baghdad- The Iraqi Army resumed fighting in Mosul left coast after a temporary withdrawal, as described by a military Iraqi leader to Asharq al-Awsat. The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that this is a “tactical withdrawal that is imposed by the conditions at sometimes, conditions of the battle that has entered a decisive phase in the meantime.”

Iraqi forces withdrew from several towns which were earlier seized as well as other towns due to ISIS fighting back and to avoid loss of souls, revealed the source. “It is true that this delays the outcome of the battle, however it protects our military forces because we are keen to prevent blood-shedding… ISIS is calling us for this battle which represents a suicide to the organization but to us it is a battle of liberation and should be conducted based on correct military bases,” added the source.

The source said that there is no need to make free sacrifices just because the enemy is willing to send more suicide attackers.

The resumption of Mosul operations coincided with the arrival of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to leadership of special operations in Nineveh for the sake of checking the battle inputs—this is the second visit since the commencement of the battle of Mosul twenty days ago.

Hisham al-Hashimi, an intelligence adviser to the Iraqi government, told Asharq al-Awsat that despite the importance of the air force in Mosul battle, yet it can’t interfere in some towns in the left coast of Mosul because it can’t differentiate between the enemy and the friend.

Iraqi forces in building clearing operations in eastern Mosul

[AlArabiya] Iraqi special forces cleared buildings on Saturday in neighborhoods they entered in eastern Mosul a day earlier, after pushing out ISIS militants in their drive to take back the city.

Fighting continued in the morning, with both sides firing mortars and automatic weapons on each other’s positions, while the Iraqi troops also responded with artillery. Clashes were most intense in the al-Bakr neighborhood. Sniper duels played out from rooftops in the mostly residential areas, where the majority of buildings are two stories high.

“Daesh is in the city center and we must be very careful as our forces advance,” said Maj. Gen. Sami al-Aridi of the Iraqi special forces, using the Arabic acronym for the ISIS group. With more densely packed neighborhoods ahead, his forces will be challenged to avoid both higher military and civilian casualties.

As he spoke, dozens of civilians in the Tahrir and Zahara districts emerged from their homes, some of them carrying white flags, and headed toward the troops to be evacuated from the battlefield.

People see their relatives who had fled from Mosul at a fence surrounding Al-Khazer refugee camp, east of Mosul, Iraq November 4, 2016. (Reuters)

The special forces launched a two-pronged assault deeper into Mosul’s urban center on Friday, unleashing the most intense street battles against ISIS militants since the offensive to retake the city began nearly three weeks ago. At least seven special forces troops have been killed in the fighting.

More than 3,000 Iraqi troops took part in the assault under heavy US-led coalition air support, but the pace of the fight also slowed as Iraqi forces moved from fighting in more rural areas with few civilians to the tight, narrow streets of Mosul proper. At least seven suicide attackers in explosives-laden vehicles attacked troops on Friday, five of whom were killed before nearing their targets.

The operation to retake Mosul is expected to take weeks if not months. Moving from neighborhood to neighborhood in house-to-house battles through warrens of booby-trapped buildings is time consuming and Iraq’s military has repeatedly opted for slower operations in an effort to minimize casualties.

Some 1 million civilians still remain in the city, complicating the advance.

ISIS militants have driven thousands of residents deeper into the city’s built-up areas to be used as human shields, while hundreds of others have fled toward government-controlled territory and thousands have headed west into Syria.

Mosul is the last major ISIS stronghold in Iraq, and expelling the militant group from the city would be a major blow to the survival of its self-styled “caliphate” that stretches into Syria.

Iraqi forces have made uneven progress in closing in on the city since the operation began on Oct. 17. Advances have been slower from the south, with government troops still some 20 miles (35 kilometers) away. Kurdish fighters and Iraqi army units are deployed to the north, while government-sanctioned Shiite militias are sweeping in from the west to try to cut off any ISIS escape route.

Some advances are being made in the south, however. On Saturday, Iraqi forces assaulted ISIS positions in the town of Hamam al-Alil, which lies along the Tigris river about 15 kilometers (9 miles) from the southernmost parts of Mosul.

Kurdish television channel Rudaw broadcast live footage of Iraqi troops and armored vehicles amassing outside the city as an attack helicopter fired rockets into the city.

Truckloads full of as many as 1,600 civilians may have been forcibly moved from Hamam al-Alil to Tal Afar earlier this week and could be transferred onward into Syria for likely use as human shields, the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights warned Friday. Another 150 families from the town were moved to Mosul itself, the UN said.

Governor of Pennsylvania signs anti-BDS bill into law
[IsraelTimes] Decision makes the state the 14th to pass legislation targeting procurement in entities boycotting Israel.

Pennsylvania’s governor signed a bill Friday preventing the state from contracting with businesses or entities that participate in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.

The legislation, which has been passed in a number of other states in recent years as well, will "prohibit contracting with BDS businesses" and dictates that an "entity must certify that it will not engage in such boycotting during the duration of the contract," according to an official statement released by the governor’s office.

The BDS movement supports economic and other pressure on the State of Israel for its perceived ill-treatment of the Paleostinians.

Pennsylvania is the 14th state to pass anti-BDS legislation. The others are California, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Alabama, South Carolina, Rhode Island and Iowa. New York's Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order against doing business with Israel boycotters.
Pennsylvania is the 14th state to pass anti-BDS legislation. The other states are Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Alabama, South Carolina, Rhode Island and Iowa. In New York, Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo signed an executive order against doing business with Israel boycotters.

"We must make clear that we are in favor of a peaceful, negotiated solution to this conflict," Governor Tom Wolf said, "and will not encourage economic punishment in place of peaceful solutions to challenging conflicts."

Representative Matt Baker, the prime sponsor of the bill, said, "This legislation makes it very clear that companies can either perform a BDS action or they can do business with Pennsylvania. However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
they cannot do both," according to a statement from the governor’s office.

Several organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union and Jewish Voice for Peace, expressed opposition to the bill, arguing that it stifles the voices of those who oppose Israel’s policy.

Lawyers from the Center for Constitutional Rights, the National Lawyers Guild and Paleostine Legal claimed that the bill hinders constitutional rights to free speech, in a letter to Pennsylvania Sen.Jake Corman, urging him to oppose the legislation.

"The bill’s stated purpose of targeting boycotts of Israel," the letter read. "Its vagueness, its enormous financial penalty, and its potential for misuse, will chill and suppress speech protected by the United States Constitution."

Rahul Saksena, a staff attorney from Paleostine Legal, said boycotts were a legitimate tool of social protest and should not be stifled.

"The U.S. has a long history of non-violent boycotts as a tactic to advance civil and human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
, including the Montgomery bus boycott in the 1950s and the boycott of Apartheid South Africa in the 1980s," Saksena said in a statement.

In September, California Governor Jerry Governor Moonbeam Brown
... those who ignore history are bound to repeat it ...
signed a similar bill which prevents companies that boycott or discriminate against any sovereign country, including Israel, from doing business with the state.

In June, the New Jersey Legislature passed a bill prohibiting state agencies from investing in pension and annuity funds of companies that engage in political boycotts of the Jewish State. A similar bill was also signed in March by the Georgia General Assembly.

bully boyz have killed at least two Nigerian soldiers and razed a village in the troubled northeastern part of the African country.

Local residents said on Sunday that a group of Boko Haram gunnies arrived in Akwada village late Saturday and torched homes after looting food supplies.

"Boko Haram gunnies attacked the village around 7:30 p.m. They fired indiscriminately and hurled explosives," AFP quoted resident Bitrus John as saying.

"They killed two soldiers and injured another one in shootout," John said.

Bulus Samson, another witness, said, "The village has been entirely burnt, there is nothing left apart from burnt rubble of our mud houses."

Akwada adjoins the northeastern Nigerian town of Chibok, where the terrorist group kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls two years ago.

Nigerian soldiers had deployed in the area following incessant attacks there in recent months.

The latest attack underscores the continued threat of Boko Haram in Nigeria's volatile northeast. It came two weeks after similar raids on two nearby villages, where the forces of Evil looted and burnt homes.

In a separate development, the Nigerian army said on Sunday it had retaken some villages from the bully boy group in the Lake Chad region in operations on Friday and Saturday and "rescued" 85 people.

Army front man Sani Usman said in a statement that 37 Boko Haram bad boyz were potted in another operation in four villages in the south of Borno state.

Army front man Sani Usman said in a statement late Friday that troops killed a suspectedjacket wallah'> exploding trollop female suicide bomber a day earlier when she attempted to enter a military site in Yamtake in Borno state.

"The failed suicide kaboom attack was followed up with futile probing attack by murderous Moslems which was decisively dealt with by the troops," he said.

Usman said the troops killed all four attackers including two suicide bombers and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, but one soldier was killed.

"Unfortunately, we lost a soldier in the process," he said

30 detained over attempted murder of Egyptian deputy prosecutor, former top cleric
[AlAhram] Egypt’s Supreme State Security Prosecution has ordered the detention of 30 people for 15 days pending investigations into the failed liquidation attempts on the country’s former top Moslem holy man Ali Gomaa and deputy prosecutor-general Zakareya Abdel-Aziz.

"The investigations have revealed that the defendants were members of the Moslem Brüderbund group who formed terrorist cells that aim to conduct terrorist operations and liquidations under orders from the group’s runaway [leaders]," the prosecution said in a Sunday statement.

The statement added that the defendants, who were tossed in the clink
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
Friday, planned to assassinate several public figures and target vital state institutions.

The prosecution charged the defendants with "forming a terrorist organization that aims to overthrow the government as well as launching attacks against state institutions, public figures and police and army forces."

Other charges include the possession of firearms and bombs.

The interior ministry published a video on its official Facebook page showing the defendants confessing to "plotting terrorist attacks against security forces and government figures."

In a Friday statement, the interior ministry said its intelligence work revealed that the Moslem Brüderbund is forming new "terrorist entities" such as Haraket Thowar Misr, Hasm and Lowaa El-Thawra, and uses these groups "as a media front" to take the blame for the Brotherhood’s violent attacks.

The little-known new murderous Moslem group Hasm has grabbed credit for the attacks against Gomaa and Abdel-Aziz.

The ministry said it also found documents showing Brotherhood leaders admitting they were behind the liquidation of Egypt’s top prosecutor Hisham Barakat in June 2015.

The Moslem Brüderbund was officially designated a terrorist organization by the government in December 2013 following several deadly attacks on security personnel, to which the Brotherhood denied responsibility.

IS group claims killing of Tunisian soldier
[AlAhram] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group on Sunday grabbed credit for the killing of a Tunisian soldier at his home in a central region that is a major hideout for murderous Moslems groups.

"A Tunisian soldier was assassinated in his home yesterday at the hands of Islamic State fighters in Mount Mghilla," the IS-affiliated Amaq news agency said.

Public television reported late Saturday that a soldier had been killed at his home by unidentified attackers. Citing defence ministry front man Belhassen Oueslati, the channel said army and national guard units had launched a search for the attackers.

Contacted by AFP, the defence ministry declined to comment.

Since a revolution in 2011, Tunisian security forces have been battling a murderous Moslems movement responsible for the deaths of dozens of soldiers and coppers as well as civilians. A total of 59 tourists have also been killed.

The country has been under a state of emergency since a string of deadly attacks in 2015, claimed by groups affiliated with IS group and al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

IS group carried out three major attacks on Tunisian soil in 2015, killing 72 people. In March 2015, krazed killer gunnies killed 21 tourists and a policeman at the National Bardo Museum in Tunis. The following month, 30 Britons were among 38 foreign holidaymakers killed in a gun and grenade attack on a beach resort near the Tunisian city of Sousse. That November, a suicide kaboom in the capital killed 12 members of the presidential guard. Authorities responded by declaring a state of emergency and a curfew in Tunis. The curfew was later lifted, but the state of emergency has remained in place.

In March, dozens of murderous Moslems attacked security installations in the town of Ben Guerdane on the border with Libya, killing 13 members of the security forces. Seven civilians and 55 murderous Moslems were killed, according to an official toll.

Several thousand Tunisians have travelled abroad to join krazed killer groups in Iraq, Syria and Libya.

ASWJ general secretary, top Shia cleric detained in Karachi
[DAWN] Secretary general of the proscribed Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat
...which is the false nose and plastic mustache of the murderous banned extremist group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain, whatcha might call the political wing of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi...
(ASWJ) Taj Hanafi and All Pakistain Shia Action Committee Chief Allama Mirza Yusuf Husain were detained in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, officials said Sunday.

According to the Rangers, Hanafi was incarcerated
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
from Karachi's Nagan Chowrangi area on Sunday afternoon.

An ASWJ front man also confirmed that Hanafi, who was to contest the Nov 24 NA-298 by-polls, had been arrested.

All Pakistain Shia Action Committee chief Allama Mirza Yusuf Husain was apprehended from his residence in Karachi by police late Saturday night, a Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) spokesperson told Dawn.

Husain's residence is attached to Jamia Masjid Noor-e-Iman in Nazimabad where he is a prayer leader, he said.

MWM leader Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi in a statement, while condemning Husain's detention, said that "killings of the mourners and detentions of Shia leaders were a conspiracy to foil Karachi operation."

A police spokesperson said that several people were detained during ’combing and search operations’ in different parts of the city.

Residents blocked roads in Karachi protesting the alleged insult of religious texts during a search operation in a mosque in Rizvia Society. The allegations surfaced after photographs showing the aftermath of the search operation were shared widely across social media.

A Rangers blurb, however, denied any such incident took place during a search operation.

"The Pakistain Rangers term photos being shared on social media by miscreants contrary to the facts," the blurb said. "The purpose of such photos is to hinder the operation."

"After receiving information about the presence of miscreants, the Rangers paid due respect to the sanctity of the mosque, imambargah and madressah during their search operation."

Police also started the paperwork but haven't done much else pertaining to possession of illegal arms against ex-PPP Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, a police brass hat said on Sunday. Abidi was arrested on Saturday from his residence in Karachi.

Jamshed Quarters SP Tahir Noorani said Abidi was taken into custody in connection with the killing of two men who belonged to the Tableeghi Jamaat in Patel Para area of the metropolis a day earlier.

"We have arrested Faisal Abidi for his alleged involvement in the double murder case," said SP Jamshed Quarters Tahir Noorani.

But in the evening, a top-ranking police officer said that Abidi was "detained" and being investigated in some previous cases of sectarian killings. "He will be released if found innocent," he said, asking not to be named.

Around five weapons were recovered during a raid on Abidi's New Rizvia Society late Friday night, a police brass hat said today. Out of them, one submachine gun was without a license.

Therefore, the police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against him under Sindh Arms Act on behalf of the state.

People likely to get respite from shutdowns as separatists call meeting
[Daily Excelsior] The three separatist leaders who have been calling for protests and shutdowns in Kashmire since the killing of hard boy commander Burhan Wani in July this year, have called for a meeting on Tuesday during which they may decide respite from daily strikes.

Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq, and chairman of JKLF chief, Mohammad Yasin Malik
...chairman of one of the two factions of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. JKLF is a Kashmiri nationalist organization founded in Birmingham, UK in 1977. Branches weren't actually established in Kashmir for another ten years. It has the usual demands for separation of J&K from secular India so it can become an independent Islamic rathole. It seems to have no interest in Pak Kashmir breaking away to join it. In 1994 Malik renounced violence after he was released from jail and from that point he and his organization pursued peaceful means to impose their will on the region...
today held a meeting at the residence of Geelani for the first time in four months and discussed the situation in Kashmire.

These leaders have been issuing strike and protest programmes for last four months but they met for the first time today. The leaders rejected any economic package and stressed for political resolution of Jammu and Kashmire issue.

They said that the Government is squeezing and denying the political space to them. The leaders called for a meeting of different forums to discus the situation in Kashmire.

"All the forums among whom traders, educationists, transporters, civil society members, religious, social and political organizations ,bar association and people from other walks of life have been called on Tuesday, Nov 8 at 10.30 am at Hyderpora to jointly deliberate and discuss future course of action," a joint statement issued by these leaders reads.

Sources said that the separatist may decide to give some relaxation after calling for 4 month long strike and protests which paralysed life in Kashmire.

In the meantime, an attempt to torch Govt Middle school Kishwan in Trehgam area of district Kupwara was foiled today. Police said that miscreants tried to set ablaze the school but timely action by the locals saved the schools.

And in Hajjan area of Bandipara district, Government Higher Secondary School Hajjan was partially damaged as miscreants torched it this evening. The miscreants set the school afire but locals doused the flames during which one room of the school was damaged.

Amid shutdown in Kashmire, an increased rush of shoppers was seen today in the weekly Sunday market at commercial hub Lal Chowk and its adjacent areas.

Large number of people came out to shop at Sunday market that led to the traffic jam in the areas, which forced the commuters to take alternative routes.

The weekly market stretches from Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) to Polo View area, a distance of half a kilometre.

The shoppers from different areas thronged the market to buy items like clothes, blankets and other stuff.

Hundreds of street vendors had arrived early morning today to get space in the market while some among them didn’t find any space in the market and installed their stocks at an extended stretch of the market.

The weekly flea market started operating from the first week of October amid shutdown.

The normal life elsewhere remained paralysed today with shops and business establishment closed and public transport off the roads.

Afghanistan
With silent guardians, Afghan soldiers protect Kabul
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Floating silently above the city, brilliant white balloons with precision cameras stand watch here, silent guardians of the sky. Officially known as Aerostats, the balloons serve as sentinels protecting the people below.

The balloons have a high-performance camera, providing 360-degree views around the city. The camera’s night vision capabilities, coupled with the simplicity of the helium-operated system, allow it to patrol 24 hours a day. With multiple sites around Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
, the Aerostats monitor the entire city for danger.

The Afghan National Army’s Aerostat training school at Sia Sang National Military Intelligence Center here has focused on training select service members to operate the balloons with the support of coalition contractors. The school has trained dozens of students so far, with more waiting to attend. Only the most experienced and proven soldiers get to attend the 40-day school, and they consider it an honor to be part of one of the teams.
Better pay, prestige, less chance of being shot, and Fatima gets to lord it over the other wives in the neighborhood. What's not to like?
When it comes to protecting Kabul, the Aerostats are unparalleled for the cost per balloon.

"The cost is minimal," the school’s commander said, "when it comes to protecting the lives of our citizens below."

Not just a training center, the Sia Sang center is also an effective part of the integrated intelligence system throughout the city. Several months ago, the site observed murderous Moslems moving rockets into the city. The team on watch was able to coordinate with the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police, allowing them to arrest the murderous Moslems and prevent an attack.

The current watch captain, an infantry officer, understands the intelligence value Aerostats bring.

"Our balloons are very effective for the Afghan National Army. If you use it in the right way, you can do the job of 1,500 soldiers on the ground," he said.

At another site on Kabul’s outskirts, the team is tied into the Kabul surveillance network, but also provides security for key government officials working to rebuild the country.

The video feed from each ANA-operated Aerostat is sent directly to the Ministry of Defense where teams of trained personnel provide additional monitoring. The goal is to prevent violence before it occurs. The MoD command center has integrated the video from the Aerostats as a critical component of its daily watch plan.

Lt. Col. Steven Tingley, director of Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance ‐ Capability Integration Cell of Combined Security Transition Command ‐ Afghanistan, stressed the importance of Afghan forces taking responsibility for controlling and maintaining the balloons. ISR-CIC is the directorate responsible for facilitating the Aerostat program for the ANA.

"CSTC-A’s mission is to train and equip the ANA so they are able to provide and sustain their own security to the country. These Aerostats are an excellent and cost-effective way to provide that," Tingley said. "Aerostats are not just important for counter-insurgency, but also provide an excellent platform to monitor criminal activity and allow the police to catch criminals in Kabul."

An executive officer of the one of the sites praised the value of the balloon.

"These balloons are very important to the ANA and Afghanistan," he said. "We appreciate the foreign assistance that has allowed us to purchase and learn to operate the Aerostats. We have hope that the assistance will continue so we can keep protecting our citizens for many years to come."

Brokaw: I Have Never Seen the Country So Fractured, ‘We're in Tribal Warfare Here
[Breitbart] Sunday on NBC’s "Meet The Press," former NBC’s "Nightly News" anchor Tom Brokaw said, "I have never seen the country so fractured."

Brokaw said, "I’ve been at this a fair amount of time. I have never seen the country so fractured. The Founding Fathers said ’We the people in order to form a more perfect union,’ this campaign has been we the African-Americans, we the Hispanics, we the women, we the angry white males, we the wealthy, we the people who don’t know quite what to do. We’re in tribal warfare here. That’s not who we are. That’s not what we can be. Newt Gingrich is right, we’re in for a very difficult time whoever wins that. There are so many things that have not been addressed in this campaign."
Most insightful. Yes 'Tribal Warfare' as planned. I believe the first blows were struck soon after November, 2008 and they continue to this day.

Putin's new 'super tank': British intelligence warns Russian vehicle is 'the most revolutionary change in tank design in the last half century' and leaves the West totally outgunned
[DailyMail] - Military intelligence officers have assessed Putin's new Armata battle tank which was introduced in 2015

  • The new Russian main battle tank is designed to protect the vehicle's crew on the battlefield

  • UK stalled new tank design as heavy armour is not useful against lightly-armed and highly mobile jihadis

  • Russia's new tank is faster, lighter and lower than the British Challenger II main battle tanks

Yes, bloody difficult time being 'combat effective' with a dead crew.

#3  Its formidable tank, more modern then anything out there now, its relatively cheap and as it has only a three man crew (which I do not like) definitely has a price advantage.

I particularly like that the crew compartment is physically separated from the ammunition.

what you don't get from the article is the actual performance

can the tank turn and back up quickly, how do the electronics work, etc. also of vital importance is how well the tanks coordinate with air power and air recon

#6  Reminds me of the same "experts" that lauded the Mig-25 as a "Super Plane" as well. The plus side is we did build the F-15 to counter those imagined planes.

Before panicking, I would like to see some data:

How well the tank is survivable against western anti-tank missiles
The penetration performance of the main gun ammo (been a problem in the past)
Sustained fire reliability (the US didn't go with an autoloader as they found an 18yo arm was smarter, more reliable and helped with tank maintenance)
Crew comfort (russian tanks in the past were uncomfortable and during long operations made the crew exhausted)
    Posted by: DarthVader || 11/07/2016 9:02 Comments || Top||

#7  So an unmanned turret is a good idea, I'll give you that. But the range and speed are no real benefit on todays battlefield. Lots of nice flat panels on that tank, even with reactive armor, it is sabo bait. Our other weapon shoot from the top down. Smaller turret means nothing but a direct hit into the crew if it does not hit the turret. The track is still vulnerable, to hand held systems. And that laser viewfinder sitting on top like a periscope is telling me they are putting too much into buttoned up operations, probably because of the unmanned turret, and will be very vulnerable to other than kinetic weapons. Russian shit briefs well, but only works well when the fight like the Chinese, in echelon, with mass numbers. Fighting an Army that uses fire will still defeat them.

    Posted by: rjschwarz || 11/07/2016 12:35 Comments || Top||

#11  Behavioral controls are much more complex than smaller unmanned vehicles. Terrain interactions cover a much larger range of soil, water etc conditions. Plus coordination is key for armored assault and that adds complexity too.

Revolutionaries in Tripoli call for new national dialogue, warn of dangers to the city
[Libya Herald] A group calling itself "The Brigades of Revolutionaries in Libya" rallied with several armoured vehicles in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
’s Martyrs’ Square late yesterday afternoon demanding "all good Libyans" reject foreign moves to resolve the country’s political crisis. Instead they should unite behind national efforts to find a solution.

The rally followed an earlier, smaller protest after Friday prayers by some of the same group in the square, but minus the weapons and armoured vehicles.

The main rally was followed by a statement of their views on the Tanasah TV channel belonging to the controversial grand mufti, Sadek al-Ghariani. He too supports national dialogue, firmly rejecting the UN-brokered Libyan Political Agreement and the Presidency Council.

While national dialogue was the goal, it was made clear in the televised statement that it excluded Khalifa Hafter and his supporters. The group, linked to the largely now Tripoli-based Benghazi Defence Brigade (BDB) as well as to other murderous Moslems operating in the capital such as Salah Badi
...a Misrata militia commander, self-appointed colonel and a member of the Wafa Islamist bloc. He was cashiered from the Libyan army in 1992 because he was nuts...
, described him as a "war criminal".

They said that their leaders were highly concerned about the deteriorating economic situation faced by Libyans and that they feared that escalated tensions could lead to a new civil war which would divide the country.

Brexit row may lead to public unrest: Farage
[Iran Press TV] The leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), Nigel Farage, has warned that recent attempts to undermine Britannia's withdrawal from the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU) might result in "real disturbance on the streets."

Speaking to BBC on Sunday, Farage said there was a "movement" to prevent the results of a June referendum to leave the EU from taking effect.

Nearly 52 percent of Britons voted to end the UK’s membership in the 28-bloc nation on June 23.

"If the people of this country think they’re going to be cheated, we will see political anger the like of which we have never seen in this country in our lifetime," the UKIP leader said.

When asked if by anger he means "disturbance in the streets and so on," he said: "Yeah I think that's right."

"The temperature of this is very, very high," Farage said, calling on Brexiteers to "get even" by launching protests in case their votes were ignored.

In the wake of the ongoing domestic political uprising in Æthiopia over the past one month, Addis has been withdrawing troops that are not part of the African Union

He said that locals who were previously lying low are emerging to identify themselves as Al-Shabaab and hoisting their flags because a lot of the elements in the Lion of Islam group are locals.

seven men in three different towns on Friday and the group was subsequently locked away

for 30 days pending further investigation by the court of first instance in Pristina.

The seven men had contacts in neighbouring countries such as Macedonia and Albania, and other suspects from the group still remain on the lam, a document from the state prosecutor seen by Rooters showed.

Kosovo has not seen any bully boy attacks on its home turf, but at least 200 people have been detained or investigated for alleged Islamic State-related offences.

Around 300 Kosovars have gone to fight with the group in Syria and Iraq.

According to the prosecution, the seven men were in contact with an Islamic State member, the self-declared "commander of Albanians in Syria and Iraq", Lavdrim Muhaxheri, during September and October this year when he gave them instructions on attacks.

"They have prepared terrorist attacks on the territory of the Balkans, but first in Kosovo. They have planned to attack different buildings including security institutions," the prosecution said.

The men wanted to create a regional offshoot of Islamic State, and one had already spent time fighting alongside the group in Syria, the document said.

The bomb, made up of an explosive charge attached to a large gas canister, was hidden next to the Mishtara checkpoint on the outskirts of the southern West Bank city. The bomb was found on the side of the checkpoint controlled by Paleostinian security.

It was safely detonated by sappers from the Israel Police bomb squad on Friday night, Israeli officials confirmed. A video of the detonation posted by the Ynet news site shows a massive fireball rising up into the night sky, as Paleostinian onlookers yell "holy shit! Allahu akbar."

Despite a diplomatic stalemate, Israeli and Paleostinian security forces cooperate in the West Bank. Officials on both sides see the cooperation as key to fighting violence and keeping the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror group in check.

Paleostinian officials said that they had locked away
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
a suspect, a Paleostinian from the northern West Bank village of Salfit. He had been studying for the last two years in one of the Balkan nations, and may have been recruited to terror there, the source said without giving further details.

Nicaragua’s Ortega headed for re-election, despite autocracy fears
[FRANCE24] Former Marxist guerrilla leader Daniel Ortega is expected to easily clinch a third consecutive term as president of Nicaragua on Sunday, buoyed by steady economic growth that has trumped fears he is trying to install autocratic family rule.

Ortega and his running mate, his wife Rosario Murillo, have nearly 70 percent support, according to a recent poll, tapping into strong voter approval for a drop in poverty in one of the poorest countries in the Americas since he took office in 2007.

"He (Ortega) is the only person who has worked for the poor, and he will keep doing it, because that is his essence," said Jose Vicente Pong, a 64-year-old retiree, casting his vote by the ministry of labor in Managua on Sunday morning. "He comes from poverty, and he’ll keep working for the poor."

Tide Begins to Turn Against South Africa's President and His Supporters
[All Africa] There are growing signs the tide has indeed begun to turn against South African President Jacob Zuma and his supporters. The politics of patronage is no longer working as it used to when Zuma's defenders could be rewarded for their efforts with promotion, tenders, or a lucrative revolving door to corporate directorships.

In addition, his power base is in a state of increasing disarray. Zuma came to power on a campaign driven by the African National Congress Youth League, Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu), and the South African Communist Party. Today the youth league is a shadow of its former vibrant self. The trade union federation has split, with large unions such as the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa and the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union opposing him. The Communists are now strident in condemning state capture.

For the moment Zuma's supporters control the ANC's levers of power. But an unprecedented and growing army of ANC veterans, whose service to the party goes back to the 1950s, like Ahmed Kathrada, Andrew Mlangeni and Ben Turok, issue public protest upon public protest.

Most devastating of all, the ANC's chief whip in parliament, Jackson Mthembu - whose very job description includes caucus discipline - backs critics of the ANC's current executive. The chief whip would certainly not have issued his statement that the party's leadership should resign unless he had taken the feeling of the majority of his caucus.

In short, Zuma's critics within the ANC are emboldened to make protest upon protest, with clearly growing momentum. There is a sense that the Zuma machine within the ANC has begun to grind to a halt.

Anyone remember the Marikana mine protestor massacre? Keep an eye on Jacob 'Shower Head' Zuma. He'll be letting go with volleys of small arms fire before he climbs down from his tower.

Roosun PM: Relations of Russia, US "hit rock bottom"
{TASS] Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that Washington is to blame that the relations of Russia and the United States "hit rock bottom."

"Unfortunately, in the wake of developments in Ukraine and owing to efforts of the US President (Barack) Obama’s administration, this relationship (of Russia and the US) has dropped to the lowest level ever, just hit rock bottom," Medvedev said in an interview with Israel’s Channel One broadcaster.

"The relations are at the lowest point, at the extremely lowest point," the Russian head of government said. "Frankly speaking, when we began contacts with the current Administration of President (Barack) Obama, I could not even imagine that they would have dropped to such an unprecedentedly lowest level."

"We used to live through quite good periods in our relations as we used to have common objectives to be solved and we have done so. It includes the Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty (SORT), the Iran nuclear deal and lots of others," he said.

Medvedev emphasized the deteriorating relations with the US "are neither our fault nor our choice." "We want these relations to be normal," he said.

The Fall of ISIS in Libya
[Libya Observer] We journeyed 250 km along what is coming to be known as the longest supply route in Libyan military history. En route, the revolutionary fighters accompanying me were keen to point out the locations of early suicide kabooms on them. At Sadada, which is situated approximately 80 km from Misrata, I was shown the site of one such suicide kabooms which killed 45 Misratan-led fighters, and rough estimates are given at 150 deaths amongst the revolutionaries by suicide attacks alone since hostilities began six months prior. It became apparent as I journeyed along the Libyan coastline towards Sirte just how large of an operation had taken place.

Hundreds of square kilometers, which were previously occupied by ISIS, were now flying the Libyan flag over buildings and road signs. Long military convoys beeped their horns as they zoomed by us towards their destination.

The closer I got to Sirte the more destruction I witnessed, even on the outskirts, there were not many buildings that escaped some form of scars from the war. We were transporting the daily meal for the fighters so when we arrived at the charity organization in charge of supplying food to the frontline, there was an immediate rush to prepare for the stream of fighters who began to queue up with pots in hand. I began to get an idea of where the fighters came from and their age group. It was clear to see that there is a complete contrast from one group of fighters to another as is always the case with revolutionary brigades.

Some fighters, white bearded were shown due respect by others because of that age difference whilst others could have easily been 17 ‐ 18 which was interesting to me because these young men would have been only 12-13 at the time the revolution began and would not have taken part in the actual downfall of the Qadaffy regime, yet here they were carrying the torch and taking the fight to the new enemy of Libya.

We prepared to enter the warzone, which was witness to intensive Arclight airstrikes by the American and Libyan air forces, and continuous shelling by the Misrata-led forces was an effort to eliminate the few remaining ISIS fighters with minimum casualties as the estimated figures show at least 500 revolutionary fighters had bit the dust in total and another 2000 maimed since hostilities began.

We made our way through the man made holes in the walls to the ever shrinking frontline, which is now estimated at about 400 square meters. The men manning the front lines were quick to explain how most shootouts are sparked at night by ISIS fighters and taunting was a regular occurrence with ISIS fighters seeking a response in order to pin point the location of their enemy.

With ISIS rounded up and surrounded from all sides by the brave efforts and sacrifices of the revolutionary fighters, it is clear to see that they are taking their last breaths in Sirte, making the question become ever louder,

"What is to come after Sirte"?

Only time can tell what the new orders will be but with Haftar taking control of the oil crescent region last month and a regrouping of forces such as the Benghazi Defence Brigades, Ziad Belam`s forces and the PFG (Petroleum Facility Guard) to remove him, the end of ISIS will surely have an effect on the balance of power and politics on the ground in Libya`s near future.

Two men accused of defacing FBI headquarters, Trump hotel in Washington
[FOXNEWS] Police in Washington say two people face charges for offenses that happened during an anti-corruption march in Washington.

Police said in a statement that they saw graffiti on buildings and sidewalks in the area of Saturday's Million Mask March, which organizers describe on their Facebook page as a march against government and corporate corruption.

Police photographs appear to show the word "corrupt" and images of English anti-hero Guy Fawkes spray painted at the Federal Bureau of Investigation building on Pennsylvania Avenue. They also show graffiti at the Trump International Hotel. Police say a police cruiser was also damaged.

    Police say they incarcerated

27-year-old Eric Roberts of Florida and charged him with defacing the FBI building and resisting arrest.

Police say they also charged 35-year-old Danny Hamilton of Louisiana with destruction of District of Columbia government property -- the police cruiser -- and resisting arrest.

    The Grand Turk
Arrested HDP MPs behaving like terrorists: Erdogan
    [AA.TR] President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
has accused tossed in the clink
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
politicians of the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) of behaving like terrorists, saying they aim to put The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
into trouble in the international scene.

Speaking at the opening of the academic year of a private university in Istanbul, Erdogan said the held deputies had insulted the government, nation and law by using their parliamentary immunities.

"If you [the HDP MPs] act like a terrorist instead of a politician then you are treated like terrorists... I'm clear. I have no worries about these international attacks. Only the nation matters to me," he said.

He also criticized the West for their biases against Turkey following the reaction of some European countries to the detentions of the HDP co-chairs and other deputies Friday for failing to answer public prosecutors’ summons linked to a counter-terrorism probe.

"When does the West have a good dream about Turkey? Never." Erdogan said, adding: "So, what can Turkey expect from the West after having waited in front of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
    's door for 53 years?"

The arrested politicians face prosecution under Turkey’s anti-terrorism laws after their parliamentary immunity was lifted earlier this year. Lawmakers from other parties had also been summoned before public prosecutors, but only HDP deputies refused to testify.

Among the charges HDP politicians face are alleged offenses of spreading terrorist propaganda in relation to comments made in October 2014, after ISIS gunnies entered the Syrian border town of Kobani, also known as Ayn al-Arab. Back then, Selahattin Demirtas and other HDP figures had urged residents to take to the streets in Turkey. The ensuing week of violent demonstrations left dozens of people dead, including two coppers and saw hundreds of people injured.

Referring to the Gezi Park protests and the Dec. 17-25 corruption incidents from 2013 and the July 15 coup attempt this year, the president said Turkey had its own road to follow and had changed its point of views on certain subjects.

"We will do whatever we need to do in favor of our country and the nation without thinking: 'Who said what for us?'," Erdogan said.

He said Turkey had given 4,000 intelligence files on the PKK gunnies to Germany, adding he also reminded German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
about those files six months ago during their meeting in Istanbul.

"She told me that she remembers all the files. And I asked: ’What happened to those files?’ She said they [the files had] increased to 4,500. And I asked ’what would happen now?’ I told her that delaying justice was not justice at all.

"Europe recognizes the PKK as a terrorist group but acts as an accessory to them. It is really clear," he said, adding the PKK had so far killed 787 security personnel and 312 civilians as well as injuring over 4,000 security forces and more than 2,000 civilians since July 20, 2015.

"During the anti-PKK operations, over 5,500 arms, up to 650,000 bullets and 142 tons of kaboom and nearly 15,000 explosives were recovered. West! Hear this!" Erdogan added.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.

Pro-Kurdish party limits participation in Turkish parliament

[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's pro-Kurdish party announced Sunday that it will halt its legislative activities in Parliament following the arrests of nine of its politicians, a move the prime minister called a mistake.

Peoples' Democratic Party front man Ayhan Bilgen said at a news conference in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir that the party will stop participating in parliamentary commissions and the parliamentary assembly.

Bilgen later told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that the party does not plan to withdraw from Parliament. Pulling out of Parliament is a decision that only can "be made in consultation with the people," he said.

The party, known as the HDP, therefore plans to gauge public opinion following "the most extensive and darkest attack in our democratic political history," he said.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim called on the HDP in a televised speech from the northeastern city of Bayburt to "return from this mistake before it's too late."

HDP politicians would be disrespecting the voters who elected them if they do not represent them in Parliament, Yildirim said.

"Come to the Parliament and say whatever you want, but no politician can be a shield to terror by abusing their position," the prime minister said.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
74 die in rebel Aleppo offensive
[AlArabiya] At least 74 civilians, including 25 children, were killed in the 8-day-old offensive launched by Syrian opposition fighters against the western edge of the government-held part of Aleppo city, a Syrian opposition monitoring group said Saturday.

Opposition fighters launched the protracted attack on Oct. 28 on government-held Aleppo, aiming to break a months-long government-imposed siege on the eastern part of the city they control. They have since advanced on a number of neighborhoods on the city's western edge, capturing Assad district and Minian village as pro-government forces fought back to regain control.

The Syrian military said the first three days of the rebel offensive left more than 80 people killed. It was not immediately possible to reconcile the discrepancy in casualty figures.

Rights groups and the UN have sharply criticized the opposition groups for the indiscriminate shelling of western Aleppo districts that resulted in a number of civilian deaths. Such criticism has largely been reserved for the government and its allies for indiscriminate bombing of residential areas.

Prior to the rebel offensive and in less than a month, more than 400 civilians, many of them children, have been killed in bombings that also hit a school and medical facilities, and nearly 2,000 wounded in rebel-held Aleppo and surrounding areas.

The Observatory said Saturday that three civilian deaths were recorded in rebel-held Aleppo districts in the past week. Russia had declared a halt on airstrikes on the besieged part of the city since October 18. But there were reports of airstrikes on the city's edge and in rural areas.

On Friday, a renewed 10-hour Russian offer of a moratorium on airstrikes on rebel-held parts of Aleppo expired. None of the area's estimated 275,000 residents evacuated the territory, as was urged by Russian and Syrian officials. There were fears that a punishing aerial campaign would resume on the city after the expiration.

But early afternoon Saturday, there were no reports of airstrikes in the city.

However, Syrian activists reported airstrikes on western rural Aleppo province against rebel positions.

Footage from the activist-run Thiqa News Agency allegedly showed missiles targeting the town of Darat Izza in northwestern Aleppo province. A team of first responders known as the Syrian Civil Defense, or White Helmets, said at least three people were killed in the airstrikes and 15 others wounded.

There has been an intense aerial bombing campaign in the western Aleppo countryside and nearby Idlib province. Rebels said it appeared to be an attempt to sever the rebels supply lines.

An insurgent alliance, known as the Army of Conquest and which includes the al-Qaida-linked group Fatah al-Sham Front, has led the attack on western Aleppo. It is the second time insurgents have tried to break the siege imposed on the territory since July. An earlier offensive that breached the siege in August for a few weeks was repelled, and the seal on eastern Aleppo re-imposed.

Abu Saeed al-Halabi, a Dutch member of Fatah al-Sham based in Aleppo, said Russia has intensified its airstrikes during the insurgent-led offensive on Aleppo's western countryside, “the proposed end destination” for the potential evacuees from eastern Aleppo. He said that the aerial campaign has not curtailed the rebel offensive.

“This offensive will take longer than previous ones because the attacks take place in urban areas and the regime militias have a lot to lose if this siege is broken,” he told The Associated Press in a text message from Aleppo.

Hillary maintains her grip over US Electoral College
    [DAWN] Democrat Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as America's Blond Eminence and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Hamilton Fish ...
holds a clear advantage in Electoral College but can she hold this advantage for the next two days? If she does, she will make history as the first woman president of the United States of America.

If her Republican rival Donald Trump breaks this hold, he too will make history as an outsider by demolishing her as well as his own party, which is as scared of his victory as the rest of the world is.

Almost 219 million Americans are eligible to vote this year but only 149.3 million have registered as voters. In 2012, more than 126 million or 57.5 per cent of all voters -- registered or unregistered -- cast their ballots.

This year, the voter turnout could be a little higher as surveys by various polling agencies predict that almost 145 million Americans are likely to vote on Tuesday, which will be 66.2pc of total votes.

But these 145 million voters alone will not decide who will be the next US president, 270 members of the Electoral College will. This is because the US president and vice president are not elected by popular vote. Voters choose electors, who elect the president and his number two.

There are a total of 538 electors who are distributed among 50 federating states according to the number of seats each state has in the US Congress. Congress has two chambers, the House and the Senate. The House has a total of 435 members while the Senate has 100, which adds up to 535 electors but three electors are also given to Washington, DC, which does not have representation in Congress.

The electors usually vote according to the pledge they make during the election, thus those who are pledged to Mrs Clinton will vote for her and those to Mr Trump will vote for him. But the relevant federal law does not require an elector to honour his or her pledge. The 12th amendment to the US Constitution only requires an elector to cast one vote for president and one for vice president.

Syrian Democratic Forces launch battle for Raqqa
[ARA News] Tel Abyad – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Sunday announced the launch of an operation to liberate Raqqa from Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants.

“To our people in Raqqa city, we, in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announce the start of an extensive operation to liberate Raqqa and its countryside from the grip of ISIS terrorists. ISIS declared it a capital for their alleged caliphate, but the city will be free of their terrorism soon” the Kurdish-led SDF said in a statement.

The US-backed SDF has established a new operations room to coordinate the battle for Raqqa against the Islamic State (ISIS). “On November 5th, the SDF established a new operations room known as the Euphrates Wrath to intensify coordination between the various military factions participating in the battle for Raqqa.”

“On this occasion, we assure the democratic forces in the world, our great Syrian people and peoples of the region that this operation will be proceeded strictly till its goal is met in isolating the capital of world terror, then bringing it down. We will be victorious in this decisive battle like we overcame in Kobane, Tel Abyad, al-Hasakah, al-Hawl, al-Shaddadi and Manbij,” the SDF said.

Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), both members of the SDF, are expected to play a main role in the Raqqa operation.

“The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) is leading this operation with an effective participation from the YPG and YPJ factions, and in cooperation with the US-led coalition,” the SDF leadership said on Sunday.

The forces also called for a regional and international support in the battle for Raqqa.

“We call on the regional and international powers, who have already suffered from ISIS terrorism, to participate by providing support to our forces, whether logistic or political support. We also appeal to the international community to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Raqqa, who’ll be soon freed from ISIS grip.”

Furthermore, the SDF demanded civilians of being cautious regarding a possible use of human shields by ISIS.

“We also call on our people in Raqqa to stay away from ISIS headquarters, which will be direct targets for the SDF and the coalition. We appeal to the civilians to head to secure locations, and to support our operation, the Battle for Raqqa.”

In the meantime, the US Defence Secretary Ash Carter welcomed the operation.

“I welcome today’s announcement by the SDF that the operation to free Raqqa from ISIS’ barbaric grip has begun. The effort to isolate, and ultimately liberate, Raqqa marks the next step in our coalition campaign plan,” US Defense Ash Carter said in a statement on Sunday evening.

“As in Mosul, the fight will not be easy and there is hard work ahead, but it is necessary to end the fiction of ISIL’s caliphate and disrupt the group’s ability to carry out terror attacks against the United States, our allies and our partners. The international coalition will continue to do what we can to enable local forces in both Iraq and Syria to deliver ISIL the lasting defeat it deserves,” he said.

Earlier the Pentagon, has withdrawn a controversial request to provide direct arms shipments to the YPG, the Washington Post reported.

According to US officials, consideration of the weapons was deferred because initial plans to encircle the city by taking control of surrounding villages and access routes would not require additional weaponry and because conflicts with Turkey remain unresolved.

Nicholas Heras, a Washington-based Middle East researcher at the Centre for a New American Security, told ARA News that the People’s Protection Forces (YPG), the Kurdish component will most likely not receive weapons.

The US-led Coalition has likely promised to replenish the SDF Arab units with arms and ammunition, but stopped short of making that guarantee to the Kurdish YPG units.

“I don’t think the outcome of the battle to retake Raqqa hinges on whether the YPG receives weapons directly or wearing its Syrian Democratic Forces hat,” Amberin Zaman, Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, told ARA News.

“What matters here is the political aspect of any arms transfer. Will it be packaged as initially envisaged under legislation that covers assistance to foreign militias fighting on the side of the US. Had that gone through it would have put an institutional stamp on the US YPG relationship which is what the YPG wants more than anything,” she said.

“They want to carry this tactical alliance with the US against ISIS to a political and strategic level and that is why they are willing to take part in the Raqqa campaign even though it doesn’t serve their immediate interests which is to link the cantons but which the US for now at least is opposing,” she stated.

The SDF said Raqqa city will be liberated with the aid of its people be it Kurds, Arabs, or Turkmen.

    More from Arab News
AIN ISSA, Syria: US-backed Kurdish-Arab forces launched an offensive Sunday on the Daesh group’s de facto Syrian capital Raqqa, upping pressure on the jihadists who are already battling Iraqi troops in Mosul.

The start of the assault by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) came as Iraqi forces fought inside Mosul for the third day running, with the jihadists putting up fierce resistance.

The two cities are the last major urban centers under Daesh control after the jihadists suffered a string of territorial losses in Iraq and Syria over the past year.

The US-led coalition battling Daesh is backing both assaults, hoping to deal a knockout blow to the self-styled “caliphate” the group declared in mid-2014.

Lined up in crisp fatigues at an outdoor press conference, SDF commanders announced the start of the operation against Raqqa in Ain Issa, some 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of the city.

“The major battle to liberate Raqqa and its surroundings has begun,” SDF spokeswoman Jihan Sheikh Ahmed said.

The operation, dubbed “Wrath of the Euphrates,” involves some 30,000 fighters and began on Saturday night, Ahmed said.

SDF spokesman Talal Sello told AFP it would proceed in two phases, first seizing areas around Raqqa and isolating the city, then taking control of the city itself.

SDF forces are advancing on three fronts, from Ain Issa and Tal Abyad to the north of Raqqa, and from the village of Makman to the east.

    Isolate, then liberate
“The fight will not be easy, and will require accurate and careful operations because Daesh will defend its bastion knowing that the loss of Raqqa will mean it is finished in Syria,” Sello said.
An AFP correspondent in Ain Issa saw dozens of SDF fighters heading on vehicles toward the front line.

Driving the jihadists from Mosul and Raqqa has been the endgame since the US-led coalition launched air strikes against Daesh in the summer of 2014.

The coalition has also provided training and deployed hundreds of advisers to work with Iraqi forces and select Syrian fighters, including the SDF.

Sello said the alliance had received new weapons from the coalition for the Raqqa battle, including anti-tank missiles.

Another SDF source said 50 US military advisers would be involved in the operation, particularly to guide air strikes.

After it was seized by Daesh, Raqqa became the scene of some of the jihadists’ worst atrocities, from stonings and beheadings to the trading of sex slaves.
Thousands of foreign fighters flocked there to join Daesh, and US officials have described it as the nerve center for the group’s attacks abroad.

In Washington, a US official confirmed the start of the operation to capture the stronghold.

“We will first undertake an effort to isolate Raqqa to set the stage for an eventual assault on the city itself to liberate it,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

    More complicated
Last month, US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said the idea of simultaneous operations against Mosul and Raqqa “has been part of our planning for quite a while.”

But the battle for Raqqa is far more complicated.

After five years of civil war, Syria is divided into a patchwork of fiefdoms, with President Bashar Assad’s regime, Daesh and a range of opposition forces all holding territory.

Dominated by the powerful Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the SDF has in recent months flushed Daesh out of swathes of territory in northern Syria, including the flashpoint town of Manbij in August.

Washington has promoted the SDF as a key ally in the fight against Daesh, but the partnership is complicated by Turkey’s fierce opposition to the YPG.

Ankara considers the militia a “terrorist” group, and in August began its own operation inside northern Syria, targeting both Daesh and the YPG.

Sello said on Sunday that the SDF had “agreed definitively” with the United States “that there will be no role for Turkey or the armed factions allied with it in the operation” to capture Raqqa.

General Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, on Sunday made a previously unannounced visit to Ankara for talks with his Turkish counterpart, but no further details were immediately available.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers raided Mr Abidi’s house in New Rizvia Society, took him into custody and shifted him to some holy man's guesthouse an undisclosed location.

During the day, a police brass hat told Dawn that the ex-senator was formally jugged

But in the evening, a top-ranking police officer said that Mr Abidi was "detained" and being investigated in some previous cases of sectarian killings. "He will be released if found innocent," he said, asking not to be named.

Sources told Dawn that the issue of his "arrest" also came under discussion at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to review the breakdown of law and order in the city.

They said that the police authorities informed the CM that he was picked up on suspicion of being a "controller" in some cases of sectarian killings. The CM told them that it was their job to take such action against any suspect and all he cared about was the result.

Mr Abidi’s arrest triggered a strong reaction on the social media and by late evening #FaisalRazaAbidi was trending on Twitter.

Turkey detains 15 in raids targeting Kurdish militant group
[Ynet] Turkish police detained 15 suspects in an operation involving raids across the southeastern province of Adana targeting the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) bad boy group, the state-run Anadolu Agency said on Sunday.

The raids come as fighting between security forces and PKK holy warriors in the largely Kurdish southeast has escalated to new heights since the collapse of a 2-1/2-year ceasefire between the state and the bad boy group in July of last year.

On Friday, a boom-mobile in the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir killed 11 people and maimed at least 100, hours after Turkish authorities detained the leaders and politician of the main pro-Kurdish opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), whom the government accuses of links to the PKK.
Separately, An Nahar updates with the latest claim of responsibility for Friday's bombing in Diyarbakir:
A bomb attack in Diyarbakir on Friday left 11 people dead, with Turkey saying it was the work of the PKK and then Amaq news agency, affiliated to Islamic State (IS) extremists, claiming it for the jihadists.

But on Sunday the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), a splinter group of the better-known PKK and behind several deadly strikes this year, said the bombing was a suicide attack carried out by one of its militants.

Taliban to be eliminated in a month, but for regional intelligence agencies fueling war: MoD
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan (MoD) has said the elimination of the Taliban group fighters will not take more than a month but for the regional intelligence fueling the Afghan war by supporting the anti-government armed holy warriors.

MoD front man Gen. Dawlat Waziri told news hounds in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
that the ongoing war and violence in the country is an intelligence war, insisting that the Taliban resistance would not last more than a month if the group would wage insurgency alone.

He did not elaborate further regarding any specific regional intelligence agency but the Afghan officials have long been criticizing Pakistain’s Inter Services Intelligence for supporting the Afghan holy warriors.

The Afghan officials are saying that the leadership group of the Taliban and other holy warrior groups including the Haqqani terrorist network are based in Pakistain and are openly convening gatherings besides planning and coordinating attacks in Afghanistan.

In the meantime, Gen. Waziri said the Afghan forces recently seized a vehicle packed with hundreds of weapons, thousands of ammunition and explosives as the holy warriors were looking to transport it to equip their fighters.

He said the Afghan forces confiscated 430 Pak weapons including pistols and 23,800 rounds of ammunition in Badghis province.

Gen. Waziri appeared in a presser to update the media following a deadly clash in Kunduz on Thursday that left around 30 civilians dead.

Blaming the Taliban group for the civilian casualties, Gen. Waziri said the group continues to use the civilians as human shield and the group’s leaders and fighters are even reckless regarding their own family members.

According to Waziri, several family members of the Taliban group leaders were among those killed as the Afghan forces called for air support amid fierce clash.

The operation on Thursday was launched as the Taliban group leaders had gathered for a meeting to launch a fresh attack on Kunduz city.

    Iraq
Multiple deadly bombings rip through Iraqi cities
[Iran Press TV] Nearly two dozen people have been killed in a string of attacks that rocked Iraq’s northern Salahuddin province as well as the capital, Baghdad, security sources say.

On Sunday, a bomber set off his explosives at a checkpoint in the south of the city of Tikrit, Salahuddin’s placid provincial capital, the Arabic-language al-Sumaria TV network reported.

Some reports said the attacker had been riding a bomb-laced ambulance during the morning rush hour and that Iraqi forces had imposed a curfew in the area after the incident.

    Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, there was another kaboom...
another boom-mobile went off at a car park for Shia pilgrims visiting al-Askari Mosque in the vicinity of a hospital in the province’s city of Samarra, located some 50 kilometers south of Tikrit, Kurdish-language NRT News television said.
According to Al Ahram, ISIS claimed both attacks.

    More from Iraqi News:
(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – Several people were either killed or wounded when two blasts shook the province of Salahuddin.

Fourteen people were killed, including a high-ranking officer and his son, and 25 others were wounded when an explosion rocked southern Tikrit at Salahuddin province, according to a security source who said that tight security measures were imposed in the city.

The source said the explosion was caused by a booby-trapped car near the Iraqi Meteorological Organization. He added that forces closed the southern entrance of Tikrit.

Meanwhile, another blast targeted a travelers’ stop in Samarra, causing deaths and injuries, according to Khaled Hassan, a member of the province’s council.

Deaths included Iranian visitors to holy shrines, Hassan revealed, adding that the corpses were transferred to forensic offices.

While Hassan did not set a definite number of casualties, later reports by Alsumaria News put them at eight fatalities and 16 injuries.

Salahuddin governor blames lax security for bombings

(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – The two deadly blasts that left 24 dead and nearly 40 wounded in Salahuddin province on Sunday resulted from lack of attentiveness from security agents, said the province’s governor.

Raed Ibrahim al-Jabouri said in a press statement that the two explosions in Tikrit and Samarra were the result of unvigilance on behalf of some security elements at main checkpoints. He added, following a visit to the explosions scenes, that the attacks came as a response from Islamic State militants to defeats they sustained in Nineveh, where government forces and allied Shia and Kurdish forces wage an ongoing battle to liberate the province from ISIS fighters.

Jabouri urged security leaderships to “follow on the performance of their troops, spread security and order, modify their plans and preserve citizens’ lives.”

Earlier on Sunday, several people were either killed or wounded when two blasts shook the southern entrance of Tikrit as well as a travelers bus stop in Samarra.

Mosul is being destroyed by, as well as ‘liberated’ from, ISIS
War is hell, they say. Especially when one of the parties is utterly barbaric.
[Independent] As the Iraqi army advanced further into east Mosul today, Isis fighters responded by firing mortar shells into the Gogjali district that had been freed earlier in the week. We met the families fleeing the mortar barrage crammed into their battered cars and pick-ups at an army checkpoint at Bartella a dozen miles down the road. We had been told we could not go any further because it was too dangerous and Isis fighters were firing at the road not far ahead between Bartella and Mosul.

The people escaping from the eastern side of Mosul give a convincing picture of what is happening there as the army moves forward. Mehdi, a former metal worker but jobless since Isis captured Mosul in June 2014, said that the shelling had started at 8am and had gone on for an hour. He had put his wife and seven children into their car and driven out of the city without much idea of where they were going, so long as it was safe

Mehdi confirmed reports that Isis were withdrawing from the eastern side of Mosul, which is separated from the western side by the Tigris River. “They are leaving some two or three fighting positions behind in every district and the fighters there are being killed,” he said. All the local Iraqi fighters were leaving and those who stayed behind were foreign members of Isis. Asked about their nationality, Mehdi said he did not know because he never went near them. He pointed to a cigarette packet in his shirt pocket and said: “We cannot talk to the foreigners because as soon as they smell cigarette smoke from you, they send you off to be whipped.”

There is no doubt that the great majority of people in Mosul will be glad to get rid of Isis with its cruelty, violence, subjugation of women and religious bigotry. But it is not at all clear what comes next. Isis is likely to lose Mosul, but it will not go wholly out of business in Iraq or anywhere else. It is already resorting to guerrilla raids such as one today when a group of Isis fighters took over a mosque and part of the town of Shirqat, 60 miles south of Mosul, and were resisting counter-attack. They did the same in Kirkuk last month when 100 Isis fighters mysteriously invaded the centre of the oil city.

But the effect of the recapture of Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq, on the morale and war-making capacity of Isis should be great. Isis will no longer have the human and financial resources of the self-declared Caliphate, at its peak a powerful administrative machine, to support its campaign of slaughter at home and abroad. The very fact of defeat is likely to be damaging for a movement that claimed its victories were divinely inspired.

Isis may be weaker, but this does not mean that it is no longer to be feared. Security may be greater for the minorities living in the Nineveh Plain, the flat land east of Mosul city that was once home to half a million people who might be Christians, Sunni Arabs, Shabak (who speak their own language and mostly Shia), Yazidis or Kakai. The security for these people has improved, but only by comparison with what went before when they were persecuted and driven out by Isis.

The chances of restoring any form of security to the Nineveh Plain depends on first of all capturing Mosul from which Isis has destabilised the whole of northern Iraq. It will take time to discover if Mosul is going to be destroyed as well as “liberated”, as has already happened to the Syrian Kurdish city of Kobani in Syria and the Sunni Arab city of Ramadi in Iraq. It is also unclear if Isis will be able to revert to guerrilla warfare, to which its tactics of using suicide bombers alongside well-trained and fanatical infantry, are well-suited.

It was difficult not to wonder today how soon the Sunni Arabs, who were fleeing Mosul because of a mortar barrage, would be able to go back. It may be that the conflict in Iraq is not going to end with any form of power-sharing, as so often recommended by foreign powers, but because the war has finally produced winners and losers – and the people of Mosul will be among the latter

NYU professor on leave after blasting PC culture fires back
[FOXNEWS] New York University liberal studies professor Michael Rectenwald, the man behind the @DeplorableNYUProf Twitter account, has gone public about being placed on paid leave by the University after publicly criticizing its campus culture of political correctness and "safe spaces".

But NYU has since claimed that the leave was voluntary and has nothing to do with Professor Rectenwald’s Tweets. And a recent article in New York magazine titled "A Communist NYU Professor Says He Was Ousted for Mocking Political Correctness. Was He?" by the liberal writer Jesse Singal questions Rectenwald’s arguments, portraying him as an embellishing attention-seeker who is only trying to impress Breitbart commentators.

    -Short Attention Span Theater-
African software to prevent fraud in US elections
[DeutscheWelle] The Kenyan non-profit company Ushahidi has launched a website which lets voters report irregularities on polling day. The creators want to promote transparency - with a tool they invented in a time of bloodshed.
Our technological edge continues to slip away.
Kenya was in turmoil in late 2007 and early 2008. Mwai Kibaki had been declared the winner of a controversial presidential election which reeked of fraud and corruption on both sides. Violence erupted between different ethnic groups throughout the country that killed at least 1,000 people. It was hard for the media to keep track because many of the murders happened in remote regions.

It was then that a group of tech-savvy Kenyans got together and developed Ushahidi, a crowdsourcing software that let people report cases of violence and tracked them on a map. This provided a far more complete picture of the situation than any news outlet had given at the time.

Ushahidi, which means testimony in Kiswahili, has come a long way since then. It's now a multinational software enterprise headquartered in Nairobi with around 30 employees working in eight countries. Their technology has been used for all kinds of purposes - from earthquake response to journalism. And this year, it will help monitor the US elections.

From Kenya to the United States
Ushahidi has put up a special website, where voters can report any irregularities or problems they may encounter at the polling stations. They can, for example, flag up that ballot papers have run out or that disabled people have a hard time accessing the polling booth - or that there's nothing wrong at all. Ushahidi collects and maps all this information to visualize the bigger picture.
If some of Rantburg's clever computer people would take a look at that and let us know if it's what it claims to be, I would be grateful.
"My real hope is that on Wednesday we look at the report and that 99.9 percent of reports say: 'Everything went great!'," says Nat Manning, Ushahidi's Chief Operations Officer who's based in the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
The existing structures to prevent voter fraud in the US already seem quite fail-safe. The different states and parties as well as outside observers all independently monitor the polling. But Manning thinks Ushahidi can still add to the process. "It allows regular citizens to raise their voice. It puts a lot more eyes out there. And importantly, it creates a feeling of transparency and engagement," he told DW.

Afghan forces foil possible terrorist attack in Mazar-e-Sharif city
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) foiled a possible terrorist attack plot in Mazar-e-Sharif city, the lovely provincial capital of northern Balkh province.

Two Democratic electors threaten to throw the election to Donald Trump
In which the lefties at Think Progress wax hysterical at their gal reaping the consequences she sowed.
[ThinkProgress] In the looming election, a solid majority of the American people could cast a ballot for Hillary Clinton. Yet, thanks to two guys from Washington state, Donald Trump could be sworn in as the next president of the United States.

Two men who were selected as members of the Electoral College in the likely event that Clinton wins the state of Washington, are, at the very least, uncertain that they will honor the will of the people of their state. Robert Satiacum told the Seattle Times that he is "absolutely not" voting for Clinton and that "I hope it comes down to a swing vote and it’s me," because then "she ain’t getting it. Maybe it’ll wake this country up."

The other likely elector, Bret Chiafalo, says that he has "not ruled out that possibility" of voting against Clinton.

It is unlikely, but not impossible, that the race could be close enough that these two men could effectively rig it for Donald Trump.

If no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast in the Electoral College, or at least 270 votes, then the House of Representatives will choose the president, with each state delegation being allowed to cast a single vote. Such an arrangement would overwhelmingly favor the Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

The fact that two men who think they have the right to override the will of their states’ voters were chosen as Democratic electors appears to be the fault of an utterly reckless method the Washington Democratic Party uses to name those electors. Electors were chosen at the state party convention in June, an event where so-called Bernie-or-Busters were overrepresented.

In other words, rather than, say, allowing the party’s nominee to name reliable electors, the party chose to select electors during an emotional primary season at an event that could be gamed by a minority faction that was willing to sabotage the party if Democrats did not chose that faction’s preferred nominee.

Nevertheless, if these two electors succeed in throwing the election to Donald Trump, the lion’s share of the blame should rest with the framers of the Constitution, who gave us the Electoral College system in the first place. Thanks to this system, the losing candidate has gone on to be the president in four different presidential elections -- most recently when Al Gore was "defeated" by Texas Gov. George W. Bush.

Gunmen attack ISIS Top Turban residence; 2 die

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – A group of unknown armed individuals attacked on Saturday the home of the so-called “Governor of Nineveh” at the self-proclaimed Islamic State militant group, killing two of his guards at central Mosul, according to a local source in Nineveh.

Abu Mohamed al-Hayyali, a senior leader at the Islamic State, had his home raided and two of his bodyguards killed, after which the group imposed tight security at the incident’s scene and deployed extra members to search for the attackers, disclosed the source.

“This is the first attack of its kined to target the Governor of Mosul,” the source explained.

ISIS fighters are sustaining severe losses in personnel and supply as Iraqi government forces, assisted by US-led air forces and Shia militias, continue a three-week-old campaign to liberate the city of Mosul, the last ISIS strong-hold in Iraq. Losses were so painful that the group apparently ceased to refer to Mosul as the capital of its bloodily-sought “Caliphate”. Other reports said the group transferred its wounded fighters out of the city and was suffering a biting shortage in food supplies.

    ISIS executes 7 for malingering

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Islamic State militants have beheaded some fighters in central Mosul for “delinquency” during the ongoing battles with Iraqi troops and Shia militias seeking to liberate the city, Alsumaria News reported on Sunday.

Alsumaria news stated, “The extremist group, infamous for heinous executions of its local opponents as well as foreign workers and journalists in Iraq, executed seven of its members for fleeing battlefields in Kokajli, west of Mosul.”

“The so-called legislative court affiliated with the group sentenced them to death for delinquency,” Alsumaria revealed.

“Those elements were laid to the ground, with their hands and legs cuffed at one of ISIS quarter in central Mosul. Their heads were cut with blunt knives,” said Alsumaria, adding that the executioners deemed the convicts “infidels”.

ISIS militants have suffered huge losses in their battles with Iraqi troops and allied Shia militias seeking to drive out the group from its last stronghold in Iraq in an operation that set on mid October.

Iraqi forces release 1K prisoners from Ninevah prison

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Member of Nineveh Provincial Council, Hussam al-Din al-Abbar, announced on Sunday, that security forces discovered one of the largest prisons of the Islamic State extremist group in al-Shura area, south of the province.

Abbar said in a press interview that Iraqi security forces found an underground prison belonging to the Islamic State in al-Shura while removing explosives and securing the area, and added that the prison contains more than 1000 prisoners, including officers and members of Iraqi army and police who were captured by the extremist group.

“The detainees were freed and transferred to a safe destination,” Abbar added. “The ISIS tortured and arrested thousands of Nineveh residents and committed many crimes against the citizens who violated its instructions,” Abbar explained.

The joint security forces, backed by Army Aviation and international coalition are advancing in the military operations to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State’s grip, after the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced launching the battle to liberate the city of Mosul in October 17.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon's president pledges to root out corruption
It's a lovely thought, at any rate.
[Iran Press TV] Leb’s newly-elected President Michel Aoun
    ...a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
has vowed to eliminate corruption and spare no effort to build a strong nation of united citizens.

"A strong nation needs a strong government to administer it, and a strong state is built in line with a constitution that is respected equally by all politicians," Aoun said in his inaugural address on Sunday to a crowd of thousands of supporters waving red, white and green Lebanese flags.

He said Leb "would no longer be linked to any other foreign country," adding, "We will manage our own affairs and deal with others in a friendly manner. Our independence and illusory sovereignty don’t mean to target anyone."

France to provide airstrikes in battle for Raqqa
[AlAhram] La Belle France's defense minister says it will provide Arclight airstrikes to aid an offensive against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-held city of Raqqa in northern Syria.

Jean-Yves Le Drian told French radio Europe 1 on Sunday that "local territorial forces" should retake Raqqa, with air support from French, American and other coalition forces but no foreign ground troops.

The Syria Democratic Forces, a Kurdish-led group that includes Arab fighters and is backed by U.S. air power, announced the offensive earlier on Sunday. Raqqa is the de facto capital of the bad boy group's self-styled Islamic caliphate.

La Belle France has long suspected that IS planned last year's Gay Paree attacks in Raqqa.

Le Drian linked the battle for Raqqa with the Iraqi offensive against the IS-held city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
. The two cities are the largest urban areas still under IS control.

La Belle France began striking IS targets in Iraq in 2014 and in Syria the following year, including in Raqqa.

    India-Pakistan
Cross-border firing kills two Indian soldiers: Army
[Iran Press TV] At least two Indian soldiers have been killed during an exchange of fire with Pak troops along the de facto border dividing the disputed region of Kashmire.

The Indian army said in a statement that two of its soldiers were killed on Sunday in the latest exchange of cross-border fire with Pakistain along the Line of Control (LoC).

Separately, one soldier was killed in a firefight as Indian troops pushed back against "infiltrators" from the Pak side, Indian army front man, Colonel N. N. Joshi, said. Another soldier died in a separate incident in the disputed region, but military sources did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Indian and Pak forces have been engaged in similar festivities in the disputed region over the past months. Each side accuses the other of provocation.

Last week, authorities on both sides closed hundreds of schools along frontier areas when cross-border firing killed 14 residents.

    Apparently India has responded:

The Indian Army said that while the infiltration bids were foiled, it has also inflicted heavy damage to several Pakistani posts across the Line of Control in Poonch sector .

At least four places came under indiscriminate shelling and firing by Pakistani army targeting civil and defence facilities and civilian areas, a senior army officer said said.

"Unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan army in Poonch sector from 1015 hours using 120 mm mortars, 82 mm mortars and automatic weapons," the spokesman said.

He said the Indian army effectively and appropriately retaliated the fire using same caliber weapons, shelling and firing exchange was still on.

They use a 120 mortar you use a MLRS
They use an 82 mm mortar, you use a battery of 155 howitzers
They kill 2 of yours you level a CP.
