Trump Could Destroy The Entire Human Species, Says Yale Psychiatrist Who Warned Congress Members
[Newsweek] President Donald Trump’s mental health might lead to the extinction of the human species, the Yale psychiatrist briefing lawmakers on the president's psychological state told Newsweek on Friday.

If it were possible, Dr. Bandy Lee said, "we would be declaring a public health emergency that needs to be responded to as quickly as possible."

"As more time passes, we come closer to the greatest risk of danger, one that could even mean the extinction of the human species," she said. "This is not hyperbole. This is my the reality."
...
Lee said she’d received death threats since hosting a conference in April on the ethics of warning the public about dangers posed by mentally ill public figures. "I notified campus police and I changed my means of getting around," she said.
Well, that settles it.

The Silence of The Shams…
Notice something missing recently?

"Leaks".

The House Intelligence Committee now has the bank records of Fusion-GPS. They were turned over Friday after a federal judge on Thursday shot-down a last-ditch effort by attorneys from Fusion to get an emergency injunction.

Chairman Devin Nunes and the House Intelligence Committee now have the records of payments made by Fusion-GPS to "journalists and media companies" during 2016 and early 2017 when Glenn Simpson, Mary Jacoby and Peter Fritsch were shopping the Christopher Steele ’Russian dossier’ to enhance the "Insurance Policy"

Perhaps we will find out which journalists and media companies were paid by Fusion-GPS. Perhaps those payments are part of the reason the media apparatus, writ large, made a concerted effort last week to distance the Steele Dossier from the origin of the FBI Counterintelligence operation against candidate Trump that began in July 2016.

Additionally, and I shall easily say ‘predictably‘, there's been far less visible evidence of congressional or intelligence community leaks to the media. The Wolff book has provided a deafening cover for the media retreat; but the absence of IC leaks is also deafening. As we previously shared, this outcome was fully anticipated.

Most of the direct ("small group") FBI (CoIntel), DOJ (NatSec Division) and Special Counsel co-conspirators are only able to talk amid themselves. They know by now they are being monitored and they have strong suspicion the size of the surveillance upon them. [Hi guys.] No-one else is willing to put themselves at risk now. Congressional allies now view the small group as carrying a legal ebola virus. Contact is now a risk.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Year-end summary: Gaza rocket attacks doubled, but terror tally plummeted in 2017, army says
[IsraelTimes] Amid rising tensions with Strip, IDF says last year saw 35 projectiles launched, but fewer than 100 terror attacks elsewhere.

The army on Sunday released a series of year-end statistics, showing a sharp year-over-year increase in rocket attacks from Gazoo alongside a substantial drop in the number of terror attacks from the West Bank.

The yearly tally also showed a significant increase in arrests of Paleostinian suspects, though it was not clear if there was also a jump in indictments and convictions.

Afghanistan
SAS soldier cut head off jihadi with a SPADE after running out of ammo
[DailyStar] AN SAS trooper decapitated a jihadi with a shovel during a gruesome six-hour battle. After running out of ammunition, he used the spade as a weapon when the fighter charged at British soldiers.

The sergeant - a veteran of dozens of battles ‐ cut-off the ISIS thug's head with one blow. And after killing him, the Brit then used the gunman's own weapon to kill more militants.

Sources say the brutal battle took place six weeks ago during a patrol in eastern Afghanistan. It followed a meeting between the SAS and former members of the Taliban fighting on the side of the Afghan government. When the special forces unit was ambushed by ISIS gunmen the Brits were forced to fight off wave after wave of attacks after taking refuge in a farm.

Each onslaught was met with machine gun fire but the SAS soon began to run low on bullets.

The jihadis, some of whom spoke English, taunted the Brits with warnings they would send their decapitated heads back to their wives.

The British radioed their base calling for air support but could not tell whether the message got through.

Our source said: "The SAS thought they had seen their last day.

"They made a pact that they wouldn’t be taken alive and vowed to fight to the death.

"Capture would mean torture and a filmed execution and they weren’t prepared to let that happen.

"They made every bullet count and when they ran low on ammo they waited for the jihadis to get close enough so they could be killed with grenades or using rifles as clubs ‐ that was when one of the SAS managed to kill a man with a spade."

Just as they thought their time was up, two US Apache helicopter gunships appeared, forcing the insurgents to withdraw.

A US Chinook then came in and rescued them. By the time they arrived half the SAS team had no ammunition left.

Both the Taliban and ISIS have gained ground in Afghanistan but they view each other as enemies.

ISIS attacks have been on the rise in recent weeks and are now seen as the main threat to peace in the war-torn country. Hundreds of fighters are believed to have moved in from Syria and Iraq.

A source said the situation was so bleak in Afghanistan that the number of SAS troops will be doubled in the next few weeks to around 100 men.

The UK has around 500 troops in the capital Kabul but they are not involved in ground combat. The Ministry of Defence does not comment on special forces operations.

One dead after explosion outside Stockholm subway station
[TheLocal.se] A man has died in hospital after he was injured in an explosion near a Stockholm subway station on Sunday.

The explosion occurred late on Sunday morning outside the Vårby Gård station, injuring a man in his sixties and a 45-year-old woman.

"There was something on the ground that the man picked up, and then it exploded," Sven-Erik Olsson of the Stockholm police told the TT news agency.

The man died in hospital in the early afternoon, the police announced on their website.

Stockholm's police force have said the man was unlikely to have been purposely targeted by whoever left the explosive at the station.
The Aftonbladet newspaper reported that the blast was from was a hand grenade, though this remains unconfirmed by police, who said it's too early to comment on the matter.

The subway station and the nearby square have since been closed to the public as police and bomb squads investigate the scene.

The Vårby Gård station is on the Red Line (Röda linjen) on the way to Norsberg in Stockholm's south west.

#1  One doesn’t accidentally lose a grenade while passing through public spaces, nor is a grenade the kind of thing most boys keep in their pockets. But the Swedes aren’t likely to admit this is jihad unless the owner of the thing is a proved member of ISIS or another jihadi group, with a signed and sealed photo ID to prove it. To admit even the possblity would be antisocially racist, no matter how many of their womenfolk are raped.

Not that guy in particular, but from the little bit that I know about hand grenades, they are fairly inert unless deliberately armed.

#3  ...I am being told by a reliable acquaintance in Sweden that apparently the criminal class there has taken to using grenades in all manner of crime. Sadly, the Swedish police are apparently more interested in assuring the populace that this has nothing to do with terrorism than actually finding out where the goddamned grenades are coming from.

The FBI's Dubious Probe of Hillary's Emails
h/t Instapundit
The FBI did everything but drive Hillary’s getaway car.

Former secretary of state Clinton is a free woman largely thanks to the tender loving care that the FBI provided her and her conspirators during its probe of her illegal, unsecure email server and related abuse of government secrets. GOP lawmakers concluded this after grilling FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe on December 21, behind closed doors, according to John Solomon’s molar-grinding expose in Tuesday’s The Hill.

"For the first time, investigators say they have secured written evidence that the FBI believed there was evidence that some laws were broken," Solomon reported. This proof includes what Solomon calls revelations of "irregularities and contradictions" in the FBI’s inquiry.

#2  Me thinks that off site server and email was solely for the purpose of enhancing revenue for the "Foundation." There can be no other logical explanation for why they did that. If she was only conducting official DoS business, she wouldn't need a "dark" back channel means of communication.

Given as how the Democrats, and particularly the Clinton "campaign" tends to project, I would bet everything that "Shill" Schiff has been spouting about backchannels and collusion are projections about their own behavior and could be a useful road map for investigation, if they could ever get the true believers and useful idiots out of the way.

Update: Former PM Tony Blair's denial regarding MI6 monitoring
[Mail] Michael Wolff has scoffed at Tony Blair's denial that he told Donald Trump MI6 may have leaked details of his team's contacts with the Russians.

Repeating the allegation made in his book Fire And Fury, Mr Wolff said that the former Prime Minister may have made the claim to 'curry favour' with Mr Trump, having once been so close to Bill and Hillary Clinton in the past.

The row dates back to last March, when The Mail on Sunday revealed how Mr Blair had secretly visited the White House in a bid to win a new role as a Middle East adviser to the President.

We reported how, weeks after Mr Trump's inauguration, Mr Blair held talks with the President's senior adviser Jared Kushner. Mr Kushner is married to the President's daughter Ivanka.

It was seen as an audacious attempt to rebuild his career as an international statesman.

Mr Wolff's book says that Mr Blair also met Mr Trump himself, as well as his then top aide, Steve Bannon.

The former Prime Minister and ex-envoy to the Middle East told them he believed that British spies could have told the CIA about contacts between Mr Trump's advisers and the Russians before the presidential election in November 2016.

But Mr Blair angrily denied the alleged MI6 leak last week, stating: 'This story is a complete fabrication from beginning to end.

'I've never had such conversations in the White House, outside of the White House, with Jared Kushner, with anybody else.'

However, he admitted that he had discussed the Middle East with Mr Kushner at the White House.

Mr Wolff laughed off Mr Blair's denial ‐ and told The Mail on Sunday the original source of the information was actually Mr Trump himself.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Tapes Reveal Egyptian Leaders' Tacit Acceptance of Jerusalem Move
[NYT] As President Trump moved last month to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, an Egyptian intelligence officer quietly placed phone calls to the hosts of several influential talk shows in Egypt.

"Like all our Arab brothers," Egypt would denounce the decision in public, the officer, Capt. Ashraf al-Kholi, told the hosts.

But strife with Israel was not in Egypt’s national interest, Captain Kholi said. He told the hosts that instead of condemning the decision, they should persuade their viewers to accept it. Palestinians, he suggested, should content themselves with the dreary West Bank town that currently houses the Palestinian Authority, Ramallah.

"How is Jerusalem different from Ramallah, really?" Captain Kholi asked repeatedly in four audio recordings of his telephone calls obtained by The New York Times.

"Exactly that," agreed one host, Azmi Megahed, who confirmed the authenticity of the recording.

For decades, powerful Arab states like Egypt and Saudi Arabia have publicly criticized Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians, while privately acquiescing to Israel’s continued occupation of territory the Palestinians claim as their homeland.
Update from Al Ahram at 10:20 a.m. ET:
Egypt's State Information Service (SIS) issued a press release on Sunday condemnnig as "inappropriate" a New York Times’ report published on Saturday titled “Tapes Reveal Egyptian Leaders’ Tacit Acceptance of Jerusalem Move” by David D. Kirkpatrick.

The SIS said that the people mentioned in the article were incorrectly labeled “the hosts of several influential talk shows in Egypt.”

“Mr. Mofid Fawzy is a journalist who stopped TV presenting years ago contrary to the claim made in the Times’ report,” the SIS statement said.

The release also said the talk show hosted by Hassaseen was off the air several weeks ahead of the Jerusalem decision.

"The renowned movie star Yousra has no relation whatsoever to presenting TV talk shows and is a household name in the movie and acting industry in Egypt and the Arab world; a fact Mr. Kirkpatrick should have been aware of given his long stay in Egypt," the SIS said.

"Moreover, Mrs. Yousra has denied knowing someone by the name Ashraf El-Kholi or that she discussed with anyone the issue of Jerusalem… adding that she was not present in Egypt during the period specified in the report," the press release said.

The SIS added that Yousra would seek legal action for defamation.

The statement also asserted that Egypt’s positions on international issues are conveyed by the president, the minister of foreign affairs and in official statements, not from “alleged leaks from an anonymous source.”

“The Times’ report contains allegations regarding Egypt’s position on the Jerusalem issue mentioned in the so-called ‘audio recordings.’ It is inappropriate for The New York Times, a reputable newspaper, to publish such allegations,” the SIS said.

The statement added that Egypt has expressed “in word and dead” its position on the Jerusalem issue at the United Nations despite threats by the US to cut off aid to countries that condemn its Jerusalem decision at the UN General Assembly.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Former Iran President Ahmadinejad Arrested for Inciting Violence
[JewishPress] Al Quds Al Arabi on Saturday cited reliable sources in Tehran who said Iranian authorities ordered the arrest of former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during his visit to the city of Shiraz and that the arrest was made with the approval of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei after his remarks had been described as inciting unrest.

The independent pan-Arab daily newspaper, published in London, learned that the authorities intended to impose house arrest on Ahmadinejad.

Two weeks ago, on the Thursday that saw the start of anti-government protests in Iran, the former president, said in a speech to a crowd of residents of the city of Bushehr in southern Iran: "Some of the current officials live away from the problems of the people and concerns, and do not know anything about the reality of society." He added that "what Iran suffers today is mismanagement and not lack of economic resources."

"The government of Hassan Rouhani believes that they own the land and that the people are a ignorant society that does not know anything," Ahmadinejad said. "The people are angry at this government because of its monopoly on public wealth."

The former president said that "Rouhani and his government team consider themselves a criterion for what’s right, and do not accept any criticism or objection directed to their performance."

Ahmadinejad’s remarks came after an attack against him by President Hassan Rouhani earlier that Thursday, describing him as "walking the path of confrontation with the regime."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Hellzapoppin: FBI, DOJ, and Clinton Share the Hot Seat
[American Thinker] The new year began with a bang as the long stalled congressional investigations of the top FBI and Department of Justice officials and Fusion GPS begin to see daylight and the Clinton Foundation slush fund investigation resumed, this time with greater probity than the former top officials at the FBI and DOJ permitted.

Congressman Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Select Committee on Intelligence, and Judiciary chairman Senator Chuck Grassley (along with Judiciary member Lindsey Graham) fired the first salvos of the year.

Devin Nunes

Chairman Nunes demanded and got from the long stonewalling FBI and DOJ the FD-302s and FD-1023s relating to the unverified, unverifiable, and totally discredited Steele dossier. These forms document interrogations and interviews by agents. Nunes now has the record of what Steele was asked by the FBI and what he answered. I assume that this is the predicate for establishing that the FISA warrant permitting the spying on the Trump campaign (and subsequent unmasking) by the Obama administration was not based on legally adequate grounds to get a warrant. Possibly, as well, they will show that certain individuals deliberately misled the FISA court (FISC).

Additionally, Nunes demanded and has received assurances that his committee will get access to eight key witnesses. The witness list includes FBI agent Peter Strzok, FBI lawyer Lisa Page (who previously worked on the Russian probe), and FBI general counsel James Baker (who has been reassigned). Also on the list are FBI head of counterintelligence Bill Priestap (Strzok's boss during the relevant events and the man who Comey said decided not to inform the Committee of 8, who by law should have been alerted to the dossier-inspired investigation) and Bruce Ohr, a DOJ official now reassigned after concealing meetings with figures involved in the dossier.

Man Arrested For Attacking 73-Year-Old Meals On Wheels Volunteer With Machete In Vermont
[Daily Caller] A man armed with a machete assaulted an elderly volunteer worker at a homeless shelter in Shelburne, Vt., Friday morning, according to local police.

32-year-old Abukar Ibrahim attacked a 73-year-old Meals on Wheels volunteer while she was delivering food to Harbor Place, which provides temporary emergency housing to those in need. While in the office, the female victim reportedly saw Ibrahim vandalizing her car. When she confronted him and tried to intervene, the man became violent, assaulting her with a machete.

The woman was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center with multiple injuries, including a "significant leg wound." She received treatment and was later released.

In the wake of the attack, Ibrahim, who police identified as the assailant, barricaded himself in a room for two and a half hours. SAPD Fails to Contact Feds in Human Smuggling Case, Cites Procedure
[Townhall] Controversy swirls in Texas as the San Antonio Police Department has been criticized for its judgement in a human smuggling incident, after a case involving 12 alleged illegal aliens was not turned over to U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement. Instead, SAPD opted to handle the case locally and allow these individuals free without so much as a fingerprint or background check. However, SAPD Chief William McManus maintains that his decision to not contact the federal agency was well within his rights as police chief.

Two drivers were arrested on December 23rd, 2017 after police discovered 11 adults and one minor, possibly from Guatemala, riding in the back of their semi-truck trailer in the San Antonio area.

After arresting the two men, SAPD failed to alert ICE of the passengers in the back of the truck. Instead, they brought the stowaways to the local police station and contacted an immigrant aid organization. These 12 alleged illegal aliens were then let go without any charges. The two drivers who were arrested will be tried in district court in 2018. As for their passengers, at least one councilman questions why they were not given a background check before being released.

New 'Feminist Business School' to Fight 'Masculine' Capitalism
[PJ] People who yearn to become entrepreneurs may find guidance at the new Feminist Business School, an online program that aims to help women launch businesses founded upon the theory of "feminine entrepreneurship" and "body-loving business practices."

Starting next week, the California-based Feminist Business School will play host to an eight-week online "Concepts and Conceptions" course, during which seasoned "midwives" will teach women about the stages of giving "birth" to a new business.

Each week of the course will focus on a different topic. Students will start with "getting grounded," and will eventually progress into more advanced topics such as "the myth of meritocracy," the "stages of birthing a business," and "toppling the patriarchy."

Understanding feminist theory before starting a business is crucial, since it will give you a "huge leg-up on established entrepreneurs" and help you "avoid the frustrations and pitfalls of outdated masculine business models," according to the program’s website.

The $1,200 class was developed by Jennifer Armbrust, an artist who graduated from Evergreen State University with a degree in critical teeeheory. After graduating, she founded an art gallery, later becoming a performance artist in Portland, Oregon.

Moving along to staffing and accreditation:

The only faculty member of this school appears to be Armbrust, who does not appear to have any direct business experience, but did take a few business classes at Portland Community College. She concedes that her program will not teach any direct business skills, such as bookkeeping or legal knowledge, but suggests that she may offer such a course in the future. Currently, the Feminist Business School only offers one course, and does not appear to be accredited.

PJ Media reached out to Armbrust for comment, but she did not respond in time for publication.

Cardinal Napier blasts urban abortion culture
[Breitbart] The intrepid Cardinal Wilfrid Napier has once again blasted the modern abortion-rights culture, suggesting that a society that "destroys its unborn babies with such abandon" should never hope to have a happy or peaceful future.

The South African Cardinal was responding to news posted on social media by pro-life champion Obianuju Ekeocha, who noted that only three days into 2018, the world had already seen the deaths of 293,548 unborn babies through "legal" abortion.

"I beg all people of goodwill to speak up against this injustice," Ms. Ekeocha said. "Make it part of your mission this year to be unabashedly pro-life."

Cardinal Napier replied with a rhetorical question, "How can a culture that destroys its unborn babies with such abandon ever hope to have a happy or peaceful future, which is the deepest-seated desire of every human heart?"

Shortly afterward, the prelate launched another indictment of the abortion lobby, this time in response to an Ohio ad campaign by an abortion provider that calls abortion "life-saving," "sacred," "a blessing," and "safer than childbirth."

African gang crime wave spirals out of control in Melbourne, but Sudanese community leader claims it’s all just political ‘scaremongering’

A South Sudanese lawyer has publicly criticised politicians for fuelling hatred and 'scaremongering' in the issue of African gang crime in Victoria. Police are scrambling to hunt down the offenders of repetitive violent crime across the state - but African community leader Kot Monoah (pictured top right) said more needs to be done by federal politicians to find peaceful solutions. Appearing on Sky News, Mr Monoah slammed Immigration Minister Peter Dutton for 'scaremongering' after he warned Melbourne people were afraid of even going out to dinner in fear of being targeted by gangs. Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel compiles blacklist of BDS groups to be barred from country
[IsraelTimes] Document created by Strategic Affairs Ministry covers around 20 groups said to consistently and openly work to delegitimize Israel.

According to the Hadashot TV news report Saturday, these include BDS groups from Italia, La Belle France, South Africa, Scandinavia, and the Jewish American group Jewish Voice for Peace.

The ministry plans to begin enforcing the blacklist in March.

Erdan told Hadashot news the list was an additional step in Israel’s campaign against BDS.

Last week the government approved a plan setting aside $75 million to fight BDS.

The plan, which would entail the largest monetary investment yet by Israel specifically toward combating the boycott campaign, calls for setting up a not-for-profit organization whose board will be made up of government officials and donors from abroad, the Ynet news site reported.

The $75 million budget will come partly from the government and partly from Jewish donors and communities abroad, the report said. It did not say when the new organization would become operational or established formally.

But the initial funding to the tune of $36 million will come from the budget of the Public Diplomacy Ministry under Erdan. At least 10 Jewish philanthropists have pledged to at least match that sum, with some promising to give $2 and $3 to any dollar put in by the Israeli government beyond the initial funding, according to the report.

The organization envisaged by its creators would operate on a regular basis to counter pressure applied to artists, performers, and commercial enterprises not to engage with Israel. But it would shift into high gear at sensitive periods such as fighting, waves of terrorist attacks, and anti-Israel votes at international forums, the announcement stated.

The new organization’s avenues for action would include public campaigns, lobbying, arranging for solidarity visits to Israel by opinion shapers, establishing new and social media presence, and interacting with pro-Israel organizations worldwide for coordinated action with a focus on Europe.

German doctors reject mandatory age tests for asylum seekers
2 January 2018
[DW] The German Medical Association has said mandatory age tests for refugees are ethically wrong and imprecise. Calls to enforce testing have intensified after a teenage girl was killed, allegedly by a young Afghan refugee.

The tests have to date been voluntary and can be requested by asylum seekers or refugees who want to prove their age and also by the authorities. But the use of X-rays in age determination is now mandatory only in criminal cases. The method is known as roentgen arthroscopy, in which doctors assess a young person's age by checking their physical appearance, their teeth and also, if needed, by X-raying hand bones or the clavicle.

Young asylum seekers and refugees who are found to be 18 or under are taken into youth accommodation and given a legal guardian. They receive financial and other support, they go to school and could eventually gain the right to bring their parents to Germany.

'Historic' turning point in Italy's migrant crisis
31 December
[TheLocal.it] While migrants who made the perilous journey across the Mediterranean in rickety boats still numbered nearly 119,000, it was a roughly one-third drop over the previous year.

Between January and June, Italy saw a nearly 20 percent jump in the number of migrants arriving by sea, while asylum applications exploded as its EU neighbours -- France, Switzerland and Austria -- had closed their borders. But everything began to change in July as migrant boat departures from Libya suddenly dropped. The downward trend continued to the point that sea arrivals over the past six months have fallen by 70 percent compared with the same period last year.

The drop has been attributed to a controversial combination of an Italian-led boosting of the Libyan coastguard's ability to intercept boats and efforts to seek the assistance of powerful militias. There have also been moves to tighten Libya's southern borders, accelerate repatriations directly from Libya and measures to stem the flow of migrants from sub-Saharan Africa through transit states such as Niger and Sudan. It seemed to pay off as in early December, with the Libyan navy saying a total of 80,000 migrants were rescued or intercepted in 2017.

He was buried under several tonnes of paper rolls bound for a British customer after the driver lost control of the truck and it overturned, regional security officials said.

Italy to send almost 500 troops to Niger to stem migrant flow: PM
28 December
[TheLocal.it] Agadez, the main city in central Niger, has become a revolving door for economic migrants seeking to reach Europe via Libya, winning notoriety as Africa's people-smuggling capital.

"We are going to Niger following a request by the government at the start of December to... reinforce the security measures in the territory and at the borders and to support the police force," he said.

He said Niger was "the main transit country" in Africa for Europe-bound migrants, adding that it was also "perhaps the most willing to cooperate in this matter as it is a transit country," and does not receive remittances from migrants settled abroad.

The soldiers being sent to Niger have mainly served in Iraq and Kuwait.

Zimbabwe: President Visits Tsvangirai
[All Africa] President Emmerson Mnangagwa visited MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who is battling colon cancer, at his residence in Highlands today. President Mnangagwa was accompanied by Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga (Rtd). Addressing the media soon after the visit, the President said Mr Tsvangirai was recovering.

"He is fine and recuperating very well and he says he will soon be going back for further medical check-ups in South Africa," President Mnangagwa said.

Asked on the possibility of forming a Government of National Unity (GNU), the President brushed aside the idea saying there was no need for that.

"What's the cause (to form a GNU)?" he said. "You are allowed to lobby, it's a democratic country. People are allowed to lobby for anything. Currently, there is no need (to form a GNU)," he added.

Meanwhile MDC-T deputy president, Mr Nelson Chamisa welcomed President Mnangagwa's visit.

"It's a welcome thing, it's African to care for one another; it's very Zim-bob-wean. This is the new politics we want to see, the politics of peace, the politics of working together, the politics of feeling for one another. This is the direction and we hope it is the kind of talk that will be walked and talk that will be sustained. Going forward we want to see a peaceful election in Zim-bob-we and we are very appreciative," Mr Chamisa said.

Terrorist organisations in Egypt 2017
[AlAhram] While the number of terrorist attacks dramatically decreased in recent years, terrorist tactics have changed, and these organizations remain a vivid threat to national security.

For several years, Egypt has been the victim of one of the fiercest waves of terrorism in its contemporary history. It began in August 2012 with the "Ramadan massacre" in Rafah, claiming the lives of 16 soldiers, and reached its highest peak in 2015, which experienced the most terrorist attacks (594) in any single year from 2013 to 2017. In January 2015, alone, there were 124 armed attacks. The frequency declined slightly to 105 in February and then climbed to the highest peak for that year in March, with 125 attacks. The rate gradually began to decline in April (72 attacks) and May (63), and then dropped dramatically to 23 in June. In July 2015, the number of attacks rose again to 41 before dropping, again, to 27 in August. The frequency declined again in autumn, reaching the lowest point for that year in November with only five attacks, although it would rise again slightly in December to nine.

As of the beginning of 2016, the frequency of terrorist attacks began to decline considerably compared to 2015. Also, with the decrease in attacks in the Nile Valley and Delta, most attacks were confined to Sinai. But the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 brought a quantitative shift in terrorist tactics and strategies, as was manifested in both the nature of the targets selected and the weapons used in the attacks. We can break down the process in terms of tactics and personnel as follows.

China: Greening the Belt and Road
We’ve been discussing China’s String of Pearls strategy in the Pacific for years, but this may be the first time their Greening the Belt & Road strategy has come up beyond the occasional report of Chinese road and port building in Pakistan.
[AlAhram] Much has been made of China’s grand plans for its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), but little attention has been given to the "green" standards that China is proposing to provide for this investment. Launched in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the BRI is a $1 trillion plan to finance infrastructure investments spanning over 60 countries and covering three-quarters of the world’s population.

As the world’s leader in developing green financial products and standards, China is raising standards for international lending that could be transformational for countries like Egypt. Green finance refers to investments flowing into sustainable development projects and initiatives, environmental products and policies that encourage the development of a more sustainable economy.

Egypt has the opportunity to serve as the "hub" for the BRI in the Middle East and Africa. The Chinese have already designated it as one of the top five countries for mergers and acquisitions potential over the next five years. The two countries have also elevated their relationship to a "strategic partnership" that provides the political underpinning for what is a growing commercial relationship between them.

China set to build navy base near Pakistan's Gwadar Port
[PRESSTV] China is set to build a naval base in Pakistain as tensions are rising between Islamabad and Washington over the US cutting aid funds.

According to the South China Morning Post on Saturday, the naval base will be built in Gwadar Port, in the Pak province of Balochistan

"Gwadar port can’t provide specific services for warships... Public order there is in a mess. It is not a good place to carry out military logistical support," said one of the sources.

A China-based military analyst, Zhou Chenming, told the newspaper that China needs to build a base in Gwadar for its warships as the port has turned into a civilian facility.

UN rights office raises alarm over Egypt executions

One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
office has expressed "deep shock" and concern over the reported executions of 20 people in Egypt over the past two weeks.

Due process and fair trial guarantees appear to have been disregarded, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) noted in a statement issued on Friday.

On January 2, five men were reportedly hanged in Alexandria after being sentenced to death by an Egyptian military court; four had been convicted over a 2015 blast in Kafr al-Sheikh that killed three military recruits and injured two others.

"We understand the defendants were tried by military judges on the basis of legislation that refers cases of destruction of public property to military courts and in view of the victims being from the Egyptian Military Academy," OHCHR spokesperson Liz Throssell told news hounds in Geneva. "Civilians should only be tried in military or special courts in exceptional cases."

Previously, on December 26, a group of 15 men convicted on "terrorism" charges over the 2013 deaths of soldiers in the Sinai Peninsula were executed.

Military courts typically deny defendants the rights afforded by civilian courts, Throssell said, citing reports "that the prisoners who were executed may have been subjected to initial enforced disappearance and torture before being tried".

The UN human rights office has urged Egyptian authorities to "reconsider" the use of the death penalty
, noting that executions "should not be used as a means to combat terrorism".

Court Orders Antifa Organizer to Pay $11,000 for Filing Frivolous Restraining Order
[BREITBART] A court in California has ordered Antifa organizer Yvette Felarca to pay $11,000 after she filed a frivolous restraining order against former Berkeley College Republicans President Troy Worden.

In 2017, Antifa organizer Yvette Felarca filed a restraining order against former UC Berkeley College Republican president Troy Worden, citing two alleged incidents of harassment. Worden’s attorney alleges that Felarca made up two false accusations of harassment against him. He claims that Felarca used two incidents in which Worden made eye contact with her on campus as a basis for the restraining order.

Now, a California court has ordered Felarca to pay a $11,000 fine for filing a frivolous lawsuit. The funds will go directly to covering Worden’s attorney fees. In a press release, attorney Harmeet Dhillon suggested that the fine signals that Antifa can’t use the courts to silence their political opponents. “Felarca and her fellow travelers in BAMN [By Any Means Necessary]/Antifa need to learn that the California courts are not their personal plaything to use and abuse at will by filing baseless and vexatious lawsuits,” she said in the release.

“By ruling that she did not demonstrate good faith in filing the restraining order, the court recognized the frivolous nature of Felarca’s actions,” Worden’s attorney, Mark Meuser, added. “The award of attorney fees should send a strong signal that she cannot abuse the court system to silence speech.”

Egypt in tight security ahead of Coptic Christmas celebrations
[PRESSTV] Egyptian authorities have beefed up security as the country’s minority Coptic Christians prepare their celebrations for the Orthodox Christmas.

Tens of thousands of soldiers and police were on duty across Egypt as of Saturday, a day before the Coptic Christians mass to celebrate the holy occasion.

A focus of the heavy deployment was an unfinished cathedral in Egypt's new Administrative Capital east of Cairo. Pope Tawadros II was to lead Christmas Mass later in the day in the Nativity of Christ, the first time in living memory that the event is not held in the seat of the orthodox church in St. Mark's Cathedral in central Cairo. Around 3,000 people, including President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, were expected to attend the Mass.

The beef-up in deployment comes amid the fragile security in Egypt, especially for the country’s minority Copts, who have been the target of frequent attacks by turbans in the recent past. A branch of ISIS, a Takfiri

At least 25 refugees dead in shipwreck off Libya
[PRESSTV] At least 25 people have drowned off Libya after a dinghy, possibly carrying some 150 refugees, ran into trouble, two rescue organizations say.

"Rubber dinghy sunk north of [the Libyan capital] Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
. At least 25 people died in the incident, exact numbers still unclear. Italian navy on the scene," the German charity Sea Watch said on Twitter on Saturday.

It added that it had been alerted to the disaster by the Italian coasties, which said the bodies of eight people had been discovered, and 85 rescued from the sinking vessel so far.

The alarm was set off when surveillance aircraft on patrol for a European mission against refugee smuggling in the Mediterranean had spotted the partly-submerged boat some 40 miles off the Libyan coast, in international waters.

"The search continues for survivors," said the coasties.

Italian navy and coasties vessels were involved in the rescue.

"Shipwreck off the coast of Libya, east of Tripoli. Dozens of people missing who will die without a burial," the Spanish NGO Proactiva Open Arms said on Twitter, adding that many refugees were in the water for hours before being saved.

Rohingya rebels ambush Myanmar soldiers
[Al Jazeera] Rohingya rebels attacked an army truck in Myanmar's restive Rakhine state and maimed five soldiers, state media said.

A front man for the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) grabbed credit for the ambush on Friday.

"A vehicle ... was attacked by 20 turbans from the mountain using homemade mines and small arms," the government said, adding about 10 rebels were involved.

The military added "extremist Bengali turbans ARSA" carried out the ambush.

A series of attacks on security installations last August ignited an exodus of more than 620,000 Rohingya villagers from Rakhine into neighbouring Bangladesh, after Myanmar soldiers launched a brutal crackdown.

Fleeing Rohingya have reported many stories of mass killings, gang rape, and arson attacks by security forces.

The United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
has called violence against civilians "ethnic cleansing", but Myanmar's government has rejected the description.

A rebel front man confirmed his group had carried out the attack. "Yes, ARSA takes responsibility for the latest military movement," the unidentified fighter told Rooters news agency.

Yangon-based Frontier Myanmar magazine reported six soldiers were hospitalised, one with critical wounds.

Bangladesh and Myanmar signed a deal last month for the return of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees, but little is known of its details.

In addition to killing Abu Talal al-Qabouni, the Syrian Army also eliminated another field commander, Abu Mohammad Tahoun, while destroying the HTS base.

The Syrian Army was able to advance from several axes in Harasta on Saturday, leaving them less than 100 meters away from lifting the siege on the vehicle base.

I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
107 individuals relating to recent conflict along the border of Somali and Oromia regional states, an official said on Friday.

Abiyu Assefa, Commissioner of Æthiopia Federal Police Commission, gave the figure during a report to the Æthiopian Parliament.

He further said 98 of the suspects apprehended relating to the violence are from Oromia regional states while nine are from Somali regional state.

Heavy festivities along the 1500 km Oromia-Somali boundary in September spilt into ethnic violence that left hundreds of thousands displaced and an undisclosed number of people dead.

Oromia and Somali regional states have been locked in a dispute over the delineation of their common boundary for almost two decades.

A referendum in October 2004 was supposed to demarcate the boundary between the two regional states, but its implementation has been stalled ever since with both sides accusing each other of non-compliance.

The Æthiopian government has further pointed to competition to control illegal Khat trade as another reason for the conflict.

13 killed, 7 wounded by gunmen Senegal's restive Casamance region
[ARABNEWS] Gunmen killed at least 13 people Saturday in Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
who were gathering firewood in the forest, the military said. It was the worst attack in years in the West African nation’s restive southern region, where a separatist insurgency has dragged on for more than three decades.

The bloodshed sparked fears of renewed unrest in the area, which had been relatively calm for the last several years.

Col. Abdoul Ndiaye said late Saturday that seven others were maimed in the massacre 4 miles (7 kilometers) outside of the town of Ziguinchor, and the military stepped up its presence near the town. Casamance is separated from the rest of Senegal by the nation of Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...
While no immediate claim of responsibility for the slayings was made, suspicion fell on the separatist group founded in 1982 known as the Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance.

The armed wing of the group had agreed to a cease-fire in 2014, and the last major attack blamed on the group had been in 2013 when rebels took 12 employees of a South African bomb disposal firm hostage. The victims, all Senegalese citizens, were eventually released.

Saturday’s deaths came just hours after the release of two prisoners belonging to the separatist group following negotiations that were mediated by the Community of Sant’Egidio.

Abu Sayyaf beheads a couple in Basilan
[PhilStar] Abu Sayyaf militants beheaded a couple they considered kafir (unbeliever or traitor) to their cause in a remote village in Sumisip town, Basilan on Thursday afternoon.

A military source who asked not to be named confirmed the deaths on Friday. The source said the couple was killed in Sitio Bacahan, Barangay Mahatalang, an area known to have a strong Abu Sayyaf presence. The source said, "The couple was killed; the husband was a brother of an Abu Sayyaf member."

Basilan Provincial Police Office director Nixon Muksan identified the victims as Abdurahim Kituh of Sumisip and Nadzwa Bahitla of Isabela City.

Police said the Abu Sayyaf had warned residents before the incident not to pass through the area. The police also believe the group responsible in the beheading is led by Nahim Mustalim, an Abu Sayyaf member and Kituh's half-brother. Mustalim is said to be under the group of Usop Sandalan, a sub-leader of Abu Sayyaf commander Rhadzmil Janatil.

Police said the killing may have been part of a rido or clan feud. But the military source said that based on information on the ground, the Abu Sayyaf executed the victims after calling them "kafir" and "infidels".

The military said this was not the first case the Abu Sayyaf has killed former rebels who surrendered to rejoin mainstream society.

"I am not sure why President Trump wants to shut down the government over a multi-billion dollar wall that no one wants, is not needed and will not be paid for by Mexico," said the Vermont politician, who ran in the 2016 primaries.

Instead, the Democrat called for legal protection for the so-called Dreamers.

"What the American people do want, in overwhelming numbers, is to provide legal protection to 800,000 Dreamers and a path toward citizenship for them," he noted.

Egyptian military acquisitions 2017: A timeline
A lovely graphic with images of some of the new toys can be seen at the link. Enjoy!
[AlAhram] The Armed Forces made a quantum leap in its weapons and defence systems in 2017. The military’s weapons development and procurement programme secured a qualitative edge for the navy, air force and army. The Egyptian navy is the first in the region to acquire an aircraft carrier and state-of-the-art multipurpose Gowind corvettes.

The drive to build Egypt’s military capabilities entailed infrastructural and human resource development. The renovation and expansion of the Mohammed Naguib and Sidi Barrani military bases were part of a comprehensive drive to upgrade seaports, airports, landing strips, roads, bridges and other essential infrastructure and facilities. The military continued to sponsor joint training exercises and manoeuvres with regional and international partners staged in crucial strategic locations.

Multilateral exercises focusing on the Gulf region were conducted alongside other bilateral drills: the Zayed manoeuvres with the UAE; the Faisal manoeuvres with Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
; the Hamad drills with Bahrain; the Yarmouk operations with Kuwait and the Aqaba manoeuvres with Jordan. Egypt also took part in the Cleopatra 2017 manoeuvres with La Belle France, the Defenders of Friendship tactical exercises with Russia and the Bright Star manoeuvres with the US. The latter resumed for the first time since the January 2011 Revolution.

Egypt continued to diversify its sources of armaments. In addition to procurements from its conventional source of arms, the US, Egypt acquired major military hardware and electronic systems from Russia, La Belle France and Germany.

To meet escalating regional and international challenges the Armed Forces identified new theatres of operation. The restructuring that led to the launch of the Southern Fleet was necessary to address mounting threats in the Red Sea, including those posed by the ongoing war in Yemen. The upgrading of the Mohammed Naguib and Sidi Barrani bases in north-western Egypt not only allows the army to better perform its conventional functions but also to undertake new tasks related to combating illegal migration and cross-border infiltration and safeguarding newly discovered economic resources such as the offshore natural gas fields in the eastern Mediterranean.

They pushed back against Saudi demands for aid in Yemen as long as they dared, given how badly they’ve needed Saudi charity in recent years. They ended up providing only naval support, not invasion troops as the Saudis had wanted, as I recall.

However much Egypt might resent neo-Ottoman adventures, they cannot afford a local Monroe doctrine.

Terror Networks
Disaggregating the terrorism wave
The view from Egypt includes ISIS training camps as far away as Libya, transhipment via the Turkish secret service (MIT) and American-led MOCs in Jordan, and all that Iran supports on the other side.
[AlAhram] In the throes of sectarian and proxy conflicts, the region in recent years saw not only a proliferation of terrorist organizations, but interwoven interests that kept terrorism itself alive.
Long and a bit verbose, but with this interesting paragraph, left untranslated so its full flavour can be appreciated:
The next two years brought an array of different events and developments, but as 2015 and 2016 came and went there remained an important constant: the lack of clarity in how that drive was conducted. Observers, counterterrorism experts and strategy designers agreed that this factor was lacking in Washington’s mentality and its approach to the war. They were at a loss as to how to explain the US’s responses to developments on the ground in Syria that, at one point, president Barack Obama felt compelled to give a lengthy interview to The Atlantic in order to defend his policies and his strategy, such as it was. The title of the interview — “The Obama Doctrine” — acquired a certain fame in its own right.

This Week in Books, January 7, 2018
Happy New Year everyone, hope yours is prosperous.

Guess what I found under the tree!

The Lawdog Files - African Adventures
'D Lawdog'
Castalia House, 2017

This is Lawdog's second volume of personal stories, beginning with his childhood memories of growing up in Africa. Like his previous work, this is a collection of short stories, making it an ideal book for the coffee table or the water closet. To sit down and read this book in one sitting would be like taking a chocolate/chocolate chip cheesecake with dark chocolate/kirsch shavings and a coarse granulated sugar/graham cracker crust with a hint of cayenne (or cinnamon, however you roll) and eating the cake in one bite.

It also makes the book tough to review without giving away a chunk of the content or the punch line of a story. All I can say, is one story had me laughing so hard my wife shook her head and asked what was so funny. I recounted the story, and she asked, "Well, isn't that dangerous?" Yes! "Boys."

There are other stories and musings about life, some whimsical, some serious, some funny only after the fact. The dove hunting stories had me laughing, but if you have never been dove hunting Lawdog still tells the story, and all of his stories really, in such a way that you will get it.

I believe other Rantburgers have read this work, would you recommend this book (without giving away spoilers)? I sure do; it is available in both electrons and tree gut.

This Week in Emergency Preparedness

I really do not have much to add to winter considerations at this point. And really, you are either (a) considering yourself prepared, or (b) hoping the Fates are not knitting for a couple more months.

Probably more helpful would be suggestions from our friends in the Northeast.

My first question would be, isn't this last storm what y'all call a Nor'easter? Sure, snow in Florida is a bit odd, but a winter storm with the weatherhead wailing about 30mph winds and 5" of snow, yeah bad stuff, but not Snowzilla or whatever the gin heads were screaming about. ZMG! swksFF, temperatures will be 100+ with 50mph+ winds! Yeah. We call it July.

My point, I guess, is that if the media is going to bring out the meteorological equivalent of Green Helmut Man for normal weather in order to match the intensity of real dangerous events, it will be tougher and tougher to rely upon that report. Even worse, a lot of the weather winnowers are convinced, or put on that face, that they are absolutely correct. About got me the other day when a surprise fog ended my plans quite quickly. When you are driving 50mph and you have two seconds from spotting oncoming traffic to passing it (IF they had their lights on. One white car with no lights was past me before I saw it), that is dangerously thick. Add all the side road traffic (it was a cow day). Cold weather, humidity, no wind, near a front - I was not surprised there was fog. I turned out of it as soon as I could turn around safely. The fog contributed to a vehicle fatality that morning. No warnings from the previous night's weather report. So know your weather.

#3  I grew up in Buffalo, NY, and had a newspaper route during the Blizzard of ‘77. I fully stock my pantry before Thanksgiving* with unconcentrated soups, noodles and jarred sauces, packets of tunafish, salmon, and tea, Nestle chocolate Quick and tins of evaporated milk for hot chocolate, and chocolate chips — we ran out of chocolate in ‘77 after the first week, which was decidedly uncomfortable. If we are without power we can cook on the gas fireplace or the propane grill, or draw warm water from the 30gallon water heater** in the basement for a while if necessary — it is important to have hot food and drink. I also have enough ThermaCares set aside to keep us warm should we be without power and unable to drive out of our hilly neighbourhood for some days — that was never an issue in Buffalo, but in Cincinnati icy roads are more of a concern than snow. Medicines, of course, both Rx and over the counter. Snow shovels. I should keep a bag of coarse sand and a shovel in the trunk of each car, but we are fortunate that we can just stay home if it looks like the weather will be that bad. Everyone has a spare battery for their phone, and I have extras, charged, in the gift closet. I like this one. Warm clothes, warm ski outerwear, gloves and boots for all, though we are behind on stocking newest daughter in this direction — she came to us with very little and is a size 3X.

* In Buffalo we have had several major snow storms at Thanksgiving, so that is my target. There was the October ice storm in about 2005 thwt left my parents without power for ten days, but that only happened once in my lifetime.

** Because hot water tanks take a long time to cool down, and because hot water bottles and pans of water in which to heat unopened cans of soup can be filled directly from the drain tap, I will never replace mine with an instant hot water device.

#5  It seems to me that 10 days without power during a major winter snowstorm, for some situations, could be an end-of-life event. I know of a farm woman in Jan 1978 who had a healthy baby born in those circumstances, far from town in a house with no power or heat beyond a wood stove. Baby did well, mother got a fever, someone crawled miles across the frozen tundra to get a message out, weather improved enough for chopper flights, and she was whisked out by Air National Guard to a hospital for a life-saving hysterectomy. From that point onward, she did well. Baby was her first & last child.

#6  Michigan drivers have a quick solution for white out conditions on their interstates. They all seem to drive 85 mph until they hit a white out zone (always "unexpectedly"), then several dozen vehicles in the column of vehicles come to various sorts pf abrupt stops in few seconds or so.

#7  My theory on the freezing pipes is to have a bit of water on at every faucet but I have only theory and I see some potential problems there, like water freezer in the sink trap.

I have one of those fumeless heaters which runs off a propane tank, but it will be the last act of Henry the VIII before I use it in my house. It isn't that I don't trust the fumeless claim - I don't, drafty or ventilated shop, sure, not crazy about a well sealed structure with no air movement - but the radiant heat would concern me. It wouldn't necessarily need to start a fire, just start smoldering something plastic and now we have bad air.
***
We get dust storms out here if upwind has been dry and a big front comes through, or downwind of a newly plowed field. Maybe just me, but I think they gobble up headlights. Worst one I was in the dust storm, an eh kinda dark strength, hit a stationary moisture line and suddenly it was raining mud. Not like a bad scene from a Volcano flick, but like that scene in Jurassic Park where the critter spits on the big dude. But constant. Smells like it too. Oh, that is wife as calmly as an air raid siren informing me it is time for a diaper change, the variety which can't be put off. Pull off the interstate and find a defilade so Christine doesn't murder me with her car doors - you big wind country people know what I'm talking about. That ain't happening, wind is 50-60mph at this point and everything bouncing off of my 'cover' hits the vehicle too. Wife performs a front seat over the arm rest back passenger poop step maneuver which had me in awe.

Get back onto the interstate, starting to improve but deciding to take the next turn with the wind instead of across it when we come up to a checkpoint. We were front seat after the fire department closed the interstate and got to work on the car which was passing me before our exit.

Someone too fast met someone too slow. Some didn't see the pileup until they were in it, some chose the shoulder and ditch. Watched helplessly as some of my Brothers were carrying people bags over to an upside down SUV. It was around the holidays, trunk busted open, presents everywhere.

#8  Ten days? Did they do anything to keep the pipes from freezing?

Presumably they let all the taps drip, swksvlFF, so there was always water flowing. At any rate, they did not have to repair plumbing afterward that I recall, though they did have to replace part of the roof including the plywood substrate after some major limbs from one of the maples fell on it. The trees were still in full leaf, so the ice build up was worse than it would have been later in the season. They used hot water from the water heater for hot water bottles and to fill a pot holding soup cans or coffee mugs.

#9  The Water Drip was a suggestion to me by Guy-Whose-Mountain-Home-Loses-Power. Never had the luck to try it.

Other advice given. "swks, you have a gas stove, right?" Right. "Fill a pot of water and boil it. You will have warm moist air and it will feel good."

So, that opportunity finally presents itself one glorious ice storm. I come back in from removing Ymir's siege palisade and think what a great idea. After a brief quest for fire, see the igniters are electric har har, and some impromptu tortillion stumps got the gas going, water on, pokemon go!

And it worked. Ice crystals on the windows were pretty, and eventually thick enough to help with the insulations. I think Hannibal Smith is on our power crew, because heat was back in about two hours. Then I notice the floor is wet. Looking about the window seams for the leak it occurred to me that my wet foot is standing on the carcass of the beautiful ice angel who was living on the window. One on every single window. Good thing the dryer was back on-line.

Ben Stein: 'Sanctuary State' California Flirting with 'Civil War' (video)
[FOX] Economist and actor Ben Stein said California is flirting with "civil war" against the rest of the United States over its refusal to enforce federal immigration policies.

Stein reacted to comments Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan made on "Your World" earlier in the week, in which Homan said citizens will die and Gov. Jerry Brown (D-Calif.) is likely violating federal law by enacting a "sanctuary state" policy.

"I think that this is essentially a rebellion by the state of California," Stein said.

He said California's posture looks "very much like the beginning of a civil war," invoking the actions of April 12, 1861 when the Confederate military fired upon the Union installment at Fort Sumter in South Carolina.

Stein said he believes the "civil war," if there is one, will be one fought in the courts rather than on the battlefield.

Fox Business' Charlie Gasparino said Brown's actions are "almost like [former Alabama Gov.] George Wallace (D) standing in front of the door of the school."

On June 11, 1963, Wallace stood in the doorway of an auditorium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to prevent two black students from entering.

The actions prompted President John F. Kennedy to federalize the National Guard, per executive order 11111.

Gen. Henry Graham was dispatched to the university and confronted Wallace, who eventually stepped aside.

#1  No need for any violence in the streets. A dozen or so federal marshals pay the governor a predawn visit some Monday morning and perp walk him out of the governor's mansion into a Crown Victoria headed for the nearest federal detention facility. Later that morning he is arraigned on a number of charges and the judge orders him held without bail. Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom realizes that the only way to keep himself out of the federal lockup is to do as AG Sessions tells him to do. A slew of California state laws are then declared unconstitutional and repealed. Democrat lawmakers in Sacramento, seeing where the real power lies, decide not to create an further problems.

Africa Subsaharan
Nigeria: 1,050 Boko Haram Insurgents Surrender
[All Africa] The Nigerian Army on Saturday said 1, 050 turbans had surrendered to troops in Lake Chad and Monguno general area of operations, as it also warned that many of them are on the run.

The army urged abutting communities to watch out for the fleeing Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
turbans as their enclaves in Lake Chad region come under intense onslaught.

Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Operation Lafiya Dole, made the disclosure in a statement issued in Maiduguri.

Nwachukwu disclosed that 250 fighters of the Al Barnawi-led faction of the turbans had surrendered to Nigerian Army, sequel to artillery and aerial bombardments by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole of their enclaves in Lake Chad basin.

He added that 700 turbans also surrendered to troops at Monguno in an ongoing clearance operation.

Nwachukwu explained that Mamman Nur, another factional leader of the turbans sustained fatal injuries and one of his wives killed in the operation, while many of the turbans who escaped, surrendered to Niger Defence Forces.

The army front man noted that some of the turbans fleeing from the ongoing offensive were senior and junior commanders of the Al Barnawi faction.

"The turbans are attempting to melt into communities in and around Kano, Geidam and Gashua axis unnoticed. One of such fleeing commanders is Bana Bafui.

"Members of the general public, particularly in Kano, Geidam, Gashua, Hadejia and northern part of Jigawa State are therefore enjoined to be vigilant, watch out for strange faces in their communities and report same to security agencies".

Nwachukwu called on the turbans to surrender, adding that the Federal Government has provided a window through the Operation SAFE CORRIDOR to encourage the holy warriors' voluntary surrender.

He revealed that about 300 turbans were currently undergoing de-radicalization process for possible integration into the society.

"We call on Boko Haram turbans to abandon the futile struggle; take advantage of the Safe Corridor programme and surrender to troops in any location nearest to them.

Trump just won on DACA
[DonSurber] Ann Coulter is livid about President Trump negotiating with the swamp critters over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Why?

Donald Trump is the best negotiator in American politics because he is a student of Sun Tzu.

Sometime in high school when he was the captain of his class at New York Military, someone handed Trump a copy of "The Art of War."

All his success stems from that ancient text that dates to the sixth century before Christ.

If you know that book, then you know The Donald.

Here is the quote that applies to the DACA negotiation.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

That means he already has figured out how to win.

I would say he has figured out two ways to win. The obvious way to win is to reach an agreement and win. The less obvious way to win is to break negotiations and walk away. Reagan did the latter at Reykjavik in 1986.

Ann Coulter is smart but not wise. She thinks deeply about the superficial, and is superficially about the deep.

Her prediction in 2015 that Trump would become the next president was just to get a laugh on the Bill Maher show. Some conservatives seek to please liberals. She seeks to outrage them.

But she also sees the history of Republicans being lousy negotiators, so her alarm is not without foundation. People act in logical ways, and once you understand where they are coming from, you better appreciate their struggle.

Trump figured out how to grant amnesty to 800,000 people he cannot easily deport and get all the rest he wants. That's the deal. Democrats will high-five and exclaim how they won -- while the wall goes up, the barrios are cleansed of illegals, and chain migration ends.

If he does not get that, he walks away, and Democrats have to face their supporters who are watching a wall go up and illegals deported.

He won the battle both ways going in. Ending chain migration is the big prize, which is why he'll cut a deal.

Best of all, Democrats have two months to decide. He gave DACA a six-month extension that ends in March. The clock ticks.

Trump has no winning plan on Obamacare.

He thought Republicans had one. That's why he appointed Tom Price as health and human services secretary. When Trump realized the Price was not right, Trump leaked stories about Price's travel and forced him to resign.

One mark of a great soldier is that he fight on his own terms or fights not at all.

President Trump may or may not eventually get to Obamacare.

But once he engages in that battle, rest assured he will have won.

#3  I'll wait to see what "deal" is made, before I get too excited.

If he does not get that, he walks away, and Democrats have to face their supporters who are watching a wall go up and illegals deported.

#4  He can get the wall thru without Dem votes (eventually). He can also deport the illegals without Dem support. They'll bitch and moan (SOP) but he's got a winning hand. "Play my way or I'll get what I want anyway and you don't get DACA" and they will have to shut down their blessed Big Government on behalf of ILLEGALS ( A winning position in November? I think not)

#5  I've not talked to anyone who isn't in favor of the border wall (nor do I wish to).

The border wall vote will be a decision maker for many voters (my prediction anyway) in the off-year. The administration and pubs would be smart not to make it happen until the run-up to the election, ensuring each vote is fresh in the minds of the constituency.

Undersea cables the Achilles' heel in lead-up to new cold war
[AsiaTimes] It’s a little-known twist in the cyber-warfare between nations that carries potentially devastating consequences. At a time when more than 95% of everything that moves on the global Internet passes through just 200 undersea fiber-optic cables, potential adversaries such as the US, Russia, China and Iran are focusing on these deep-sea information pipes as rich sources of intelligence as well as targets in war.

The weapons earmarked for the struggle include submarines, underwater drones, robots and specialized ships and divers. The new battlefield is also a gray legal zone: Current Law of the Sea conventions cover some aspects of undersea cables but not hostile acts.

There’s evidence that missions are already under way and that most big powers, including the US, are keen on engaging in such activities. Cables can also be attacked by terrorists and other non-state actors.

The damage from such hard-to-detect acts could be enormous, since a foe’s economy, in addition to military and diplomatic communications, could be blinded. As more nations exploit the Internet for political or military gain, it’s also clear that the tactical concept of undersea cables as critical assets to be attacked or defended is an idea whose time has come.

"In the most severe scenario of an all-out attack upon undersea cable infrastructure by a hostile actor the impact of connectivity loss is potentially catastrophic, but even relatively limited sabotage has the potential to cause significant economic disruption and damage," a former commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, retired US Navy Admiral James Stavridis, wrote in the foreword to a recent report, "Undersea Cables: Indispensable, Insecure."
...
US intelligence officials contend that Russia is the chief offender in the new cable war. They have publicly disclosed that Russian submarines are "aggressively operating" near the Atlantic cables that serve the US mainland, as part of an asymmetric-warfare approach.

However, there are signs that the United States may be engaging in similar activities. In September, the US media reported that the USS Jimmy Carter, a Seawolf-class nuclear submarine equipped for intelligence missions, had returned to its base in Washington state flying a Jolly Roger pirate flag beside the US flag.
Continues at link.

Trump Kept Trudeau "In The Dark" On Plan To Rescue Joshua Boyle
[TheRebel.media] On Friday's show, security consultant Lee Humphrey joined me to discuss shocking new revelations about the release of Joshua Boyle and his family after being held hostage by the Taliban.

Trudeau has yet to reveal the circumstances behind the release of Joshua Boyle, the Taliban are not in the habit of handing back hostages for free, so why does it appear they made an exception?

Lee explained that it was actually Trump who came to Boyle's rescue because Joshua's wife is an American citizen, and he didn't even let Trudeau know this was happening.

Because Trudeau rejected attempts to rescue Canadian hostages held by an ISIS branch in the Philippines, the Americans realized there was no point consulting him on their plan to free the Boyles until two hours into the rescue mission.

Boyle has a long history of being infatuated with terrorists, his ex-wife is Omar Khadr's Islamist sister and he brought his pregnant current wife to Taliban controlled Afghanistan.

Despite owing his freedom to the Americans, Boyle suspiciously refused to be transported back to Canada on an American jet. Possibly due to fears that he would face questioning by American intelligence agencies.

Now Boyle is facing multiple fifteen criminal charges including; sexual assault, unlawful confinement, and administering a noxious substance.

Why did Trudeau have a secret meeting with Boyle? How come their relationship goes back to 2006? And what are the "common interests" Boyle claims he shares with Trudeau?

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Man says he was attacked by bobcat, owner says it was just a housecat
Surprise!
[NYPost] TAMPA, Fla. ‐ A Florida contractor says he was attacked by a bobcat inside a woman’s condo, but the animal’s owner says her feline is no predator, just a 10-pound domestic longhair kitty named Calli.

The contractor, Marcos Hernandez, filed a lawsuit in Tampa on Dec. 19, alleging condo owner Christine Lee illegally kept a bobcat inside her u nit. He said a bobcat scratched him on May 16, causing serious injuries after he entered the condo to conduct a fire safety inspection.

Hernandez was in the condo alone, Lee said, something that shouldn’t have happened. She said an employee from the building was supposed to accompany him inside.

"This has gotten so blown out of proportion, it’s ridiculous," Lee said.

According to the lawsuit, Hernandez said he was attacked by an unleashed bobcat and suffered permanent injuries. He’s seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages. Hernandez said Lee had a duty to provide a safe environment and failed to warn him about the bobcat.

Lee said that’s nonsense. She only has a fluffy, tortoiseshell-colored housecat and a sleeker black cat named Max. She doesn’t know which cat may have scratched Hernandez, but Max’s color would likely rule him out.

She has not yet retained an attorney.

"I’m not denying he got scratched, what he was doing to get scratched, I don’t know," she said, adding that when she arrived home that day, Calli was "cowering and scared." Max was underneath her bed.

Calli, who is 3 1/2, is friendly, Lee said. But "just like any animal, she is guarded. If they feel threatened, they may attack, scratch or bite."

Soon after the incident, she was informed by building management that Hernandez had been scratched, but she hadn’t heard of the lawsuit until this week, when the Tampa Bay Times first wrote about the case and took a photo of Calli. Hernandez is also suing the condo building’s owner.

Lee said she has never owned a bobcat.

"A bobcat does look much different than this. They’re much bigger than this 10-pound little thing," she said. "It’s a litigious society and here we are."

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, wild bobcats in the state are about twice the size of a domestic cat, up to about 35 pounds. They are tan to yellowish brown, with dark spots. A wildlife official visited Lee’s apartment on Thursday, the newspaper report.

Hernandez’ attorney’s office said they were not going to comment at this time.

Trump: Man with a plan
[ColdFury]
And finally, yet another aspect of the challenge: Pakistan. It is the largest Muslim nation on the planet, and it is a full fledged nuclear power. However, it is generally acknowledged that their nuclear arsenal was financed by Saudi Arabia, and Saudi money plays an enormous role in the economic and political life of that impoverished nation. In other words, if the Saudis are willing, we have an enormous lever that can be used to pry the Pakis away from their taste for terror gangs like the Taliban.

And, lo and behold, just yesterday Donald Trump began tweeting about…Pakistan, and threatening to remove US aid because the Pakis are a “terror aiding” nation. You bet they are. And if both the US and the Kingdom pull the money plug, the Paki regime will be in a world of hurt, nukes or not.

"So…Trump now has the enemies of the old theocratic regime housecleaning them right out of the regime and onto the dustbin of history. Amazing enough, ISIL was utterly destroyed as a force on the ground during the same period, and its “caliphate” reduced to smoking rubble. They probably really missed all the financing, sheltering, arming, training, and so on they used to get from the Saudi theocrats before MbS decisively shut off that spigot.

I believe that the Saudi regime is now out of the Islamic terror business, thanks to President Donald Trump."

Syrian women seek virtual marriages amid uncertain futures
[ARABNEWS] "I’m married to a man I never met. He’s almost twice my age, has two teenage daughters and lives in Romania," Zainab, 28, told Arab News.

"I’ve been waiting for my visa for more than seven months so I can be united with my husband," she said.

"There are no young men left in Syria, so this is my only chance at starting a family and leaving to become a citizen of a European country. I see no future for me here ‐ at least this marriage gives me hope."

Zainab and her husband Imran, 54, were introduced on Facebook. They spoke via WhatsApp and Skype for a month before they decided to elope and complete all the paperwork for her immigration to Romania.

Marriage by proxy or via Skype has become very popular in Syria since the war erupted in 2011.

Many men have joined the conflict while others have fled to Europe, the Americas or neighboring countries. This has forced young people to resort to marriage by proxy.

Such marriages account for an estimated 54 percent of daily marriages in Syria, said Judge Mahmoud al-Maarawi, who heads the religious court that oversees personal status issues for Syrian Moslems.

Some youth prefer to carry out marriage ceremonies through Skype, where a licensed notary, the bride, the groom, their parents and witnesses are present.

After the ceremony, the wife or an attorney takes the contract and gets it registered in court for the marriage to be legal and to start working on immigration documents.

The law of personal status has authorized sending an official power of attorney in a proxy marriage, al-Maarawi said.

Anyone inside or outside Syria may either send a power of attorney to a trusted acquaintance, or appoint an attorney to conclude a marriage contract with the wife or her guardian.

Earlier this year, al-Maarawi said 70 percent of women in Syria were unmarried ‐ or "spinsters," as he put it.

To solve what he believed was a problem, he released a statement encouraging polygamy, which angered many Syrians on social media.

"It would be better of the judge to worry about providing people with food, warmth and shelter before making these suggestions," said a Facebook user.

Ghalia, an executive manager at a major insurance company in Damascus, said: "Instead of encouraging a solution that is far worse than the problem itself, I suggest Judge al-Maarawi seek ways to empower women in Syria and prepare them to be more independent instead."

Syrian army soldiers, allied fighters score fresh gains in Idlib
[PRESSTV] Syrian army soldiers, supported by pro-government fighters from popular defense groups, have made fresh territorial gains against bandidos holy warriors from the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham

The media bureau of Syria’s Operations Command announced in a statement released on Saturday that government forces and their allies had managed to establish complete control over the villages of Khwein al-Kabir, Rasm Sham al-Hawa, Niha and Qaliat al-Tawibiyah in the Maarrat al-Nu'man district of the province in addition to Zarzur town following fierce festivities with the foreign-sponsored Takfiris.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
a total of 77 foreign-backed Takfiri bandidos holy warriors have been killed during week-long festivities with Syrian army soldiers in the Eastern Ghouta suburb northeast of the capital Damascus.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the skirmishes had been raging between members of the Takfiri Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
(HTS) terrorist alliance and the Syrian army on the outskirts of Vehicle Base in Harasta city.

The Britannia-based monitor group added that Syrian government forces are yet to break the siege imposed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Failaq al-Rahman bandidos holy warriors on the key base.

Vehicle Base is the largest military facility in the Eastern Ghouta suburb, and stretches from Harasta to Arbin town.

The base hosts a large number of soldiers, including Elite Republican Guards, as well as big weapon depots.

Sudan sends troops to border after Egypt deploys own forces in Eritrea
[PRESSTV] The Sudanese army has deployed thousands of forces on the eastern border with Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
after Egypt, in coordination with the United Arab Emirates, dispatched its forces to a base in Eritrea.

The Sudanese forces have been stationed at a garrison in the border state of Kassala, as both Sudan and Æthiopia have shut down their borders with Eritrea, Sudan Tribune reported on Saturday.

The troops were deployed in anticipation of a possible influx of Eritrean refugees to Sudan’s border, the report said.

The deployment of forces came as Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
has declared a state of emergency in Kasala and in North Kordofan state for six months.

According to the Sudanese newspaper Assayha, the Æthiopian government has also dispatched military reinforcements to the border with Eritrea and Sudan.

The newspaper cited Æthiopian sources as saying that the deployment of Sudanese forces came after Eritrean military reinforcements, backed by Egypt, as well as rebel movements from the Darfur region in western Sudan, were stationed at Sawa base near the Sudanese-Eritrean border.

According to Al Jazeera, a number of military and security leaders from Egypt, the UAE, Eritrea and the Sudanese rebels have held a meeting at Sawa base.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Over 2,000 Afghans Sent by Iran Killed in Syria
[AnNahar] More than 2,000 Afghans deployed by Iran have been killed fighting in Syria on the side of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
's regime, an official in the volunteer force told Iranian media.

The Fatemiyoun Brigade of Afghan "volunteer" recruits has been fighting in Syria for five years, said Zohair Mojahed, a cultural official in the brigade.

"This brigade has given more than 2,000 deaders and 8,000 maimed for Islam," he said in an interview with the reformist Shargh newspaper published Saturday.

Iran rarely provides figures on the numbers fighting and killed in its operations in Syria and Iraq.

The last toll was provided by the veterans organization in March, which said 2,100 volunteers had died without specifying how many were foreign recruits.

Iran denies sending professional troops to fight in the region, saying it has only provided military advisers and organized brigades made up of volunteers from Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistain.

The Fatemiyoun is reportedly the biggest military unit deployed by Iran in Iraq and Syria, made up of recruits from Afghanistan's Shiite minority.

Iran has backed Afghan forces in the past against the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in their own country, as well as mobilizing them against Saddam Hussein's forces in the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-88.
Oh?
Some 3,000 Afghans died fighting Iraq in the 1980s, Mojahed said.
Fascinating.
Tehran offers Iranian citizenship to the families of those imported muscle "martyred" in the conflicts of Syria and Iraq.
And the families of those injured to badly to be able to work?
Iranian media has reported on the funerals of volunteer "deaders" and aired television features about their presence in Syria.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
The Clock Ticks for the Clinton Foundation
[American Thinker] Whether it is merely the FBI trying to restore its shattered credibility or justice finally being done, the news that the pay-to-play activities of the Clinton Foundation are going to get renewed and serious attention is welcome. The Clintons have made a career of ignoring, skirting, and breaking the law. Up to this point, crime has paid off handsomely for the Clintons, but now they may find themselves caught between Little Rock and a hard place:
The Justice Department has launched a new inquiry into whether the Clinton Foundation engaged in any pay-to-play politics or other illegal activities while Hillary Clinton served as secretary of [s]tate, law enforcement officials and a witness tell[] The Hill.

FBI agents from Little Rock, Ark., where the foundation was started, have taken the lead in the investigation and have interviewed at least one witness in the last month, and law enforcement officials said additional activities are expected in the coming weeks.

The officials, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, said the probe is examining whether the Clintons promised or performed any policy favors in return for largesse to their charitable efforts or whether donors made commitments of donations in hopes of securing government outcomes.

This should be a short investigation ‐ Hillary Clinton is a ham sandwich waiting to be indicted. All that should be necessary is to empanel a grand jury and read them the known facts. The Clinton Foundation was hardly charitable except to its donors.

Any investigation should start with Haiti, where the Clinton Foundation plundered the disaster-ridden island for fun and profit. As the Washington Free Beacon reported:

Trump says willing to talk with North Korean leader
[ARABNEWS] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
said Saturday he would be willing to speak directly with Kim Jong-Un, voicing hope that rare talks between North and South Korea could help deescalate the crisis over Pyongyang’s nuclear drive.

Trump’s remarks were a further pivot from his often-bellicose rhetoric on North Korea and Kim, with whom he has engaged in a war of words that raised fears of nuclear war as Pyongyang carried out missile and nuclear tests.

"I always believe in talking," Trump said at the Camp David presidential retreat when asked if he would speak to Kim by phone.

"Absolutely I would do that, no problem with that at all," Trump said, while making clear this did not mean he would do so without preconditions.

North and South Korea have agreed to hold their first official talks in more than two years, and Trump expressed hopes that they would go beyond discussions of Pyongyang’s participation in the upcoming Winter Olympics in the South, which a North Korean Olympic official said Saturday was "likely."

"I would love to see them take it beyond the Olympics," Trump said. "And at the appropriate time, we’ll get involved."

He added that if something could come out of the talks, "that would be a great thing for all of humanity."

Kim said in a New Year speech that his country wished success for the Olympics, to be held from February 9-25, and would consider sending a delegation ‐ remarks that set off a tentative rapprochement after weeks of high tensions.

Situation in Yemen looks like apocalypse: UN
[PRESSTV] The United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...

could become the world’s worst humanitarian disaster in half a century as the war-torn country is grappling with deadly cholera and diphtheria outbreaks amid a devastating Saudi war.

"The situation in Yemen - today, right now, to the population of the country - looks like the apocalypse," Mark Lowcock, the UN's undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, told Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
-based broadcaster al-Jazeera on Friday.

Lowcock said the "cholera outbreak is probably the worst the world has ever seen, with a million suspected cases until the end of 2017."

The UN official also expressed concern over "a terrible new epidemic" of diphtheria, which has killed scores of people and affected up to 500 others over the past few weeks.

He said the epidemic "is going to spread like wildfire across the country."

"Unless the situation changes, we're going to have the world's worst humanitarian disaster for 50 years."

Diyala (IraqiNews.com) A commander at the Iraqi military and his lover companion were maimed in a kaboom, northeast of Diyala, a security source from the province said on Saturday.

"An army commander and his lover companion were maimed in a kaboom, as their patrol was passing at Qurret Tabbah region, northeast of Baquba," the source told AlSumaria News.

"The patrol was combing some checkpoints near Hamreen mountains," the source, who preferred anonymity, added. "Joint troops then started combing the region fearing further blasts."
