Obama Lectures Trump On His Behavior
Obama lectures... evergreen headline.
[Yahoo] Former President Obama has a message for President Donald Trump: Pay close attention to your behavior because it has the potential to impact the nation’s culture and values.

"One of the things that Michelle figured out, in some ways faster than I did‐was part of your ability to lead the country doesn’t have to do with legislation, doesn’t have to do with regulations, it has to do with shaping attitudes, shaping culture, increasing awareness," Obama told David Letterman on the first episode of his new Netflix show, which was released Friday.
So Michelle figured it out, and not Barack Hussein Obama, the Smartest President Evah? What a schmuck.
I will say this - I thought Obama was going to come out twice a week and criticize Trump. I think that, over the past year, he's been comparatively restrained. At some point, Obama's going to ratchet it up and Trump's gonna cut loose on him.

Scholars claim that statistics 'serve white racial interests'
h/t Instapundit
Three British professors recently promulgated the theory that statistics "serve white racial interests" because "numbers are neither objective nor color-blind."

The "QuantCrit" approach has since attracted adherents among professors in the United States, several of whom have written their own articles suggesting ways of "disrupting racism in research."

Kimberley Strassel: The Dossier Rehab Campaign
[WSJ] There’s no such thing as a coincidence in Washington, so why the sudden, furious effort by Democrats and the media to give cover to the Steele dossier? As in, the sudden, furious effort that happens to coincide with congressional investigators’ finally being given access to FBI records about the Trump-Russia probe.

This scandal’s pivotal day was Jan. 3. That’s the deadline House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes gave the Federal Bureau of Investigation to turn over documents it had been holding for months. Speaker Paul Ryan backed Mr. Nunes’s threat to cite officials for contempt of Congress. Everyone who played a part in encouraging the FBI’s colonoscopy of the Trump campaign‐congressional Democrats, FBI and Justice Department senior career staff, the Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama political mobs, dossier commissioner Fusion GPS, the press corps‐knew about the deadline and clearly had been tipped to the likelihood that the FBI would have to comply. Thus the dossier rehabilitation campaign.

Weeks before, the same crew had taken a desperate shot at running away from the dossier, with a New York Times special that attempted to play down its significance in the FBI probe. You can see why. In the year since BuzzFeed published the salacious dossier, we’ve discovered it was a work product of the Clinton campaign, commissioned by an oppo-research firm (Fusion), compiled by a British ex-spook on the basis of anonymous sources, and rolled out to the media in the runup to the election. Oh, and it appears to continue to be almost entirely false. When the best you’ve got is that a campaign orbiter made a public trip to Russia, you haven’t got much.

FBI scrutinizes funeral home with side business: selling body parts
[Reuters] Montrose, Colorado, Jan 11 - The Federal Bureau of Investigation is interviewing former employees of a funeral home whose owner runs a side business on the same premises selling human body parts.

An agent with the FBI has interviewed at least four former employees who worked for funeral director and body broker Megan Hess, seeking information about how she operates her businesses, the former workers told Reuters.

The federal inquiry began several months ago, shortly after Reuters interviewed a half-dozen workers who formerly worked for Hess.

One ex-employee, Kari Escher, said she was especially troubled by the practices of Hess's mother, Shirley Koch, who works at the facility. Escher said Koch, who embalmed and dismembered bodies, pulled teeth from some of the corpses to extract the gold in crowns or fillings.

"She showed me her collection of gold teeth one day," said Escher, who helped manage a former cremation-marketing business owned by Hess.

Koch said "she had sold a different batch a year prior, and they took the whole family to Disneyland in California on the gold that they cashed in," Escher said.

Reached by phone at Sunset Mesa, Koch said she did not wish to talk with a Reuters reporter. "I'm not interested. Thank you," she said before ending the call.

The news agency had also sent written questions to Hess and her attorney about Koch's alleged handling of gold teeth. Neither addressed the issue about the teeth.

No federal law prohibits the buying and selling of human body parts to be used in research and education.

In Colorado and most other states, it also is legal for funeral homes to sell items recovered from dead bodies, such as gold dental work. And it is not against the law to operate a so-called body broker firm from the same facility that houses a funeral home and crematory.

But the business arrangement is highly unusual. Reuters could find no other operation active in the United States that houses a funeral home, crematory and body broker in the same facility and under the same ownership.

Britain
Trump blames ‘bad deal' for London trip cancellation. But Brits think they scared him away.
[WAPO] LONDON ‐ Many Londoners on Friday offered their own reasons for President Trump canceling a possible trip to the British capital: He was nervous about the expected protests that could greet him.

"It seems he's finally got that message," wrote London's mayor, Sadiq Khan.

In a tweet sent at 5 a.m. London time, Trump said that he was canceling a visit to the British capital because he was "not a big fan" of the real estate deal that saw the United States selling its old embassy, located in one of the poshest areas in London, and moving to a shiny new building in south London, an area Trump described as "off location."

Trump tweeted: "Reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for ’peanuts,’ only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars. Bad deal. Wanted me to cut ribbon-NO."

In fact, it was the George W. Bush administration that decided more than a decade ago to relocate the embassy during a worldwide push for greater security at U.S. diplomatic sites.

Why the King of the Zulus is pleading for South Africa's ANC to maintain ties with Israel
[Der Algemeiner] The king of South Africa’s Zulu nation has urged the country’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) to retain close ties with Israel, following last month’s vote by the ANC at its national conference to downgrade the South African Embassy in Tel Aviv to a "liaison office."

King Goodwill Zwelithinii ‐ the constitutionally-recognized monarch of the 12 million Zulus who make up South Africa’s largest ethnic group ‐ told a delegation of the ANC’s senior leadership that he had developed a close relationship with Israel and the South African Jewish community since his 2009 decree introducing medical circumcision for boys in a bid to halt the spread of the AIDS virus.

According to the World Health Organization, there is "compelling evidence that male circumcision reduces the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men by approximately 60%." More than 700,000 males have been circumcised since the decree was issued by the king.

"There are two clinics that have been built by Jewish organizations in this kingdom," the king told the ANC delegation, whose members included the new party president, Cyril Ramaphosa, at last week’s meeting.

Was Seth Rich Killed over the Steele Dossier?
[American Thinker] If we are to believe the transcript of Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson's testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in August, released unexpectedly by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the search for a smoking gun in the dossier scandal may lead us to a dead body, at least according to Simpson's lawyer:
During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in August 2017, Glenn Simpson was questioned about whether he tried to "assess the credibility" of sources behind information uncovered by Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence agent who compiled the dossier.

"Yes, but I'm not going to get into sourcing information," Simpson said.

Asked again what "steps he took to verify their credibility," Simpson declined to answer.

His lawyer, Joshua Levy, then intervened and said Simpson was just trying to protect his sources.

"Somebody's already been killed as a result of the publication of this dossier and no harm should come to anybody related to this honest work," Levy said.

The interview didn't pursue the line of questioning further.

Well, maybe somebody should pursue this hand grenade tossed in the middle of the room. Whoa! Somebody's already been killed as the result of the dossier put together by former British spy Christopher Steele from questionable Russian sources and paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC, and possibly used by the FBI to obtain FISA warrants to spy on the campaign of Hillary's opponent, Donald J. Trump?

As shocking as this revelation may be, it dovetails nicely with fear expressed for her safety by former DNC chair Donna Brazile. In a stunning interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos about her new book, Hacks, Brazile made cryptic references to murdered DNC I.T. staffer Seth Rich and revealed that afterward, she took the precautions one takes when one fears for his life.

So far, speculation about the unsolved murder of Seth Rich have been dismissed as right-wing conspiracy theories, but Brazile's references to him in the light of all that has come out about WikiLeaks, the Fusion GPS dossier, and Hillary's purchase of the DNC that rigged the primaries against Bernie Sanders may be a missing piece of this whole puzzle.

To admit that a staffer copied it on to a flash drive and gave it to Assage, just blows up the entire narrative doesn't it.

Besides, then you have to admit that Seth Rich's murder was a hit and not a random robbery gone wrong.

Three-star Alabama class of 2019 DT Jesse Altman arrested, charged with murder
[USA Today] A three-star defensive tackle prospect from Alabama with scholarship offers from some of America’s most prestigious college football programs was charged with capital murder on Wednesday, according to the Gadsden Times.

Jesse Altman, a 17-year-old junior at Etowah High in Alabama, was charged with capital murder along with four other teenagers in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Aaron "A.J." Huff. While police have not made the motive behind the death clear, early reporting indicates that Huff and another of the teenagers charged in his death ‐ Tyler Abbott ‐ were acquainted and engaged in a verbal altercation which preceded the shooting.

Altman is rated as a three-star prospect by both Rivals.com and 247Sports, though it’s clear college coaches think the 6-foot-1, 295-pounder has the potential to achieve far more. He allegedly already holds scholarship offers from the likes of Texas, Texas Tech, West Virginia, TCU, Oregon, Kentucky and Mississippi State, and has received interest from Alabama and Florida State.

Leaky Schiff? Trump Accuses Democratic Lawmaker Of Leaking Details Of Russia Probe [VIDEO]
[Daily Caller] President Trump and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders both accused California Rep. Adam Schiff of selectively leaking details of the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia investigation.

Trump put Schiff on blast during an interview with The Wall Street Journal in the Oval Office on Thursday morning.

"All I see of these Democrats, like Adam Schiff ‐ it’s all he does, he’ll have a meeting, and then he’ll leave, and he’ll call up the meeting, and then I’ll have a meeting and then he’ll leave. He left meetings where people are being interviewed, and then all of a sudden they say a story about what’s going on inside the meetings," Trump said.

Sanders also took a dig at Schiff during the White House press briefing on Thursday afternoon.

"The only people that we’ve seen trying to influence the investigation are former Director Comey and Democrats in Congress ‐ and that would include Senator Feinstein, Representative Schiff ‐ who have both selectively leaked to the media witness interviews," said Sanders.

"We see that to be a big problem and something that should certainly be considered and looked at."

Trump ‘s---hole' remark: This is how ‘the forgotten men and women' talk
[The Hill] Fox News host Jesse Watters defended President Trump's reported remark calling Haiti and some African nations "shithole countries" Thursday, arguing that the "forgotten men and women" who make up the president's base would approve of the remark.

On Fox News's "The Five," Watters fought back against criticism from Democrats and some Republicans over Trump's remark, which some have deemed racist and offensive to immigrants from those nations.
"This is how the forgotten men and women of America talk at the bar," Watters told his co-hosts.

"If you're at a bar, and you're in Wisconsin, and you think they're bringing in a bunch of Haiti people, or El Salvadorians, or people from Niger, this is how some people talk," he said.

"Is it graceful? No," he added. "Is it polite or delicate? Absolutely not. Is it a little offensive? Of course it is. But you know what? This doesn't move the needle at all."

"This is who Trump is ... and if he offends some people, fine," Watters concluded.

Trump faced heavy criticism from both parties on Thursday after The Washington Post reported that he had referred to Haiti and some African nations as "shithole countries" during a heated meeting with lawmakers on immigration.

Terror Networks
Ex-DEA Agent Says Obama Admin. Lost ‘Gold Opportunity' to ‘Crush' Hezbollah
[Free Beacon] The retired head of the Drug Enforcement Administration's special-operations division said on Wednesday the Obama administration squandered a chance to dismantle Hezbollah due in part to political motivations to clinch a nuclear deal with Iran.

Derek Maltz, who was in charge of a major law enforcement operation targeting Hezbollah's trafficking of cocaine, said the United States cannot again succumb to political distractions that allow the Iranian-backed terrorist to continue its narcoterrorism campaign.

"There's an old saying, opportunities come and go," Maltz testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee. "In my personal opinion, having been the guy in charge of the special operations for ten years, we lost a gold opportunity to crush Hezbollah."

Politico in December first reported the Obama administration's quiet dismantling of these efforts, dubbed Project Cassandra, out of apprehension over rattling Iran as President Barack Obama pursued a landmark nuclear deal with the country. The piece, written by Politico’s Josh Meyer, extensively quoted Maltz, who said he had "no doubt" multilateral negotiations with Iran sidelined ongoing operations against Hezbollah's drug trafficking network.

"There is certainly an argument to be made that if tomorrow all the agencies were ordered to come together and sit in a room and put all the evidence on the table against all these bad guys, that there could be a hell of a lot of indictments," Maltz told Politico.

Maltz echoed this sentiment on Wednesday, telling lawmakers the United States needs better interagency cooperation to confront Hezbollah's terrorism ambitions and the transnational criminal organizations that generate tens of millions of dollars for the Iranian-backed group.

"Sadly, 16 years after 9/11, we're still talking about information sharing. It's a disaster," he testified. "If terrorists are turning to criminal networks for their funding, how can we have a system where the terrorist investigators and the intelligence community and others are not communicating properly with the law enforcement agencies?"

He said the Trump administration needs to identify who in the U.S. government is responsible for bringing together federal, state, and local agencies under an interagency task force to combat narcoterrorism.

This is 'by design.' Tribal Afghanistan is a perfect example. Stamp out the opium trade and you destroy their entire economy. The narcotics trade is also the lifeblood of the US urban economy.

John McCain Stays Silent on Involvement in Hoax Trump Dossier After Fusion GPS Revelations
[Breitbart] TEL AVIV ‐ For the past three days, Sen. John McCain’s office has not responded to Breitbart News phone and email inquiries seeking clarification of the Arizona politician’s role in delivering the infamous, largely discredited 35-page dossier on President Donald Trump to the U.S. intelligence community under the Obama administration.

In a New York Times oped last week, the founders of the controversial opposition research firm Fusion GPS admitted that they helped get the dossier to McCain using an "emissary," with the goal of McCain passing the information contained in the questionable document to U.S. intelligence agencies.

The disclosure raises questions about whether McCain knew that the information he delivered to the Obama administration was actually an opposition document reportedly funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Breitbart News has been seeking clarification on this issue since Tuesday. However, McCain’s office did not reply yesterday to phone and email requests for comment on the matter.

By the time things are back to normal, they and their children have settled into their new lives, and won’t want to leave, as we have seen with the Haitians fleeing to Canada rather than goimg home a decade or two later. Oprah Will Run In 2020
h/t Instapundit
[Townhall] If I was a Democrat, like everyone at NBC and noted Cruise Director Bill Kristol, I’d want Oprah Winfrey to run for president too. She’s got all the qualifications to be a Dem candidate - she’s vacuous, she embraces all the required liberal taboos, and she hates the right people - that is, people like you. And, best of all, Oprah isn’t one of the horde of weirdos, losers, and mutations already threatening to run.

She knows how to string a sentence together, which is useful. Oprah wouldn’t be a human gaffe machine like Touchy Joe Biden. She’s also not 87 years old like he is - it’ll be a shame to miss out on what Joe says and does as age loosens his tongue. Someone get that man a Twitter account!

...Those pics of Oprah cavorting with Harvey Fernseed won’t stop her - she’ll get a liberal gal pass like Meryl Streep. Remember, the liberals don’t really care. It’s all fake outrage designed to kneecap competitors. When a history of not harassing women, or enabling those who do, gets in the way of what liberals really want, it’s "Gropes away!" Right, Felonia Milhouse von Pantsuit?

...Warren wants to keep resisting. Oprah’s secret is her unspoken promise of a return to normalcy, of calm and quiet. But, of course, that's a lie. Oprah will be an activist liberal and will put a bull’s eye on those of us who refuse to fawn and applaud.

...Bernie Sanders may run again, and he’s so crusty he makes Biden look like a whippersnapper. But the millennials seem to love him, which is why you have to operate under the rebuttable presumption anyone who is a millennial is too damn stupid to vote. It will be an exciting campaign with months of earnest dummies in Che T-shirts assuring us that true socialism has never been tried and that Venezuela is somehow all Trump's fault.

...Let's see, there's Kirsten Gillibrand, because America yearns for another bitter Northeastern liberal nominee. She's another one who hopes to ride the #MeToo fake outrage down Pennsylvania Avenue and stable it at the White House. The way she stuck the Clintons in the back probably isn't going to help her raise money, though it was hilarious. But Kirsten comes off as hating men. Every guy has dated a Kirsten once. Once.

...Oprah superficially seems to love everybody. She’s all feelings and hugs, but a TV show isn't the campaign trail, and since the liberal media no longer has a monopoly of coverage, she won’t get to write the script. The truth will come out. Oprah already has her own deplorable problem - there's an interview with her suggesting a good chunk of non-liberal Americans are racist and need to die. These people are apparently not the very best yous they can be, and must therefore be purged.

...Oprah checks all the liberal boxes. She believes in science, meaning she thinks both heat waves and cold fronts prove global warming, that you can change your gender by wanting to, that vaccines are a conspiracy, and that Dr. Oz’s magic fungus extract will cleanse your body of negative waves, thereby allowing you to be the very best you you can be.

You know she's going to hate guns in the hands of anyone but her private security force. You know that she believes in perpetual conflict over race, gender, and all the other touchstones of liberal hate-mongering. You know that a Winfrey administration would be filled with the same band of punks and hacks who brought us ISIS, North Korean nukes, and who abandoned the Iranian freedom fighters just before shipping their oppressors pallets of 100 dollar bills.

...It's painfully obvious that the Democrats are seeking their own Donald Trump, only without the rough edges. What is super amusing is to listen to the liberals n’ their Never Trump fellow travelers howl about how Trump is a no-experience entertainer, and then to watch them wet themselves over a no-experience entertainer because she’s all-in for the left. Muh principles, indeed.

Oprah represents their chance to impose a softer tyranny than Hillary would have, and thereby maybe avoid another counter reaction by the Normals. Oprah seems to be what Hillary never could be - nice. But under that nice exterior still lurks the same hatred and contempt for you that Democrats all share.

New York 'Islamic State'-inspired bomb plot: Not guilty plea by suspect
[DW] Akayed Ullah is facing six charges for an attempted suicide kaboom near Manhattan's Time Square. He allegedly told police after his arrest he "did it for the Islamic State."

A Bangladeshi immigrant accused of trying to carry out a suicide kaboom in a busy New York City subway tunnel in December pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to terrorism charges on Thursday.

"At this moment, not guilty," Akayed Ullah
...the very connected lone wolf...
said after asked for his plea in a federal court hearing in Manhattan.
What an absurd thing to say.
The 27-year old could serve a life sentence if found guilty of charges including supporting a foreign terrorist organization, using a weapon of mass destruction and committing a terrorist attack against a mass transit system.

Attempted attack
Police tossed in the calaboose
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
Ullah on December 11 after he allegedly tried to detonate a pipe bomb attached to his body in a tunnel between Times Square and Port Authority Bus Terminal.

The bomb failed to completely detonate, but the partial kaboom left Ullah and three commuters with minor injuries.

Ullah, who arrived in the United States in 2011, allegedly told police after his arrest that he "did it for the Islamic State." Federal prosecutors said a handwritten note was also found in Ullah's passport with the words "O AMERICA, DIE IN YOUR RAGE."

Prosecutors accuse Ullah of radicalizing himself after he started watching pro-Islamic State internet videos in 2014.

At Thursday's hearing, Ullah's lawyer requested her client receive medical attention after not seeing a doctor for several days.

Judge Richard Sullivan said he may set a trial date at the next hearing on April 13.

In Thala, near the Algerian border, soldiers deployed after crowds torched the region's national security building, forcing police to retreat from the town, witnesses told Rooters.

Tunisia's unity government - which includes Islamists, secular parties and independents - has portrayed the unrest as driven by criminal elements, and Prime Minister Youssef Chahed has accused the opposition of fuelling dissent.

Rejecting that accusation, Tunisia's main opposition bloc, the Popular Front, called for a major protest in Tunis on Sunday to coincide with the seventh anniversary of Ben Ali's fall.

Tunisia's Football Association said it was postponing all weekend matches because of the disturbances.

Anti-government protests have flared in a number of Tunisian cities and towns - including the tourist resort of Sousse, since Monday against price and tax rises imposed to cut a ballooning deficit and satisfy international lenders.

Tunisia had nine governments since Ben Ali's overthrow, none of which have been able to deal with growing economic problems.

The army has been deployed in several cities, including Sousse, Kebeli and Bizerte, to protect government buildings that have become a target for protesters.

"Three hundred and thirty people involved in acts of sabotage and robbery were arrested last night," Interior Ministry front man Khelifa Chibani said. That brought the total number of detainees since the protests began to around 600.

"What is happening is crime, not protests. They steal, intimidate people and threaten private and public property," he added.

Many of the protests have been peaceful, however, with demonstrators expressing their anger and frustration over deepening economic hardship since the 2011 uprising.

"It is true that some protesters burned and stole during last night's protests, but the rulers steal and destroy Tunisia in the morning and at night with their frustrating decisions," said a teacher who was shopping in the capital and only gave his first name, Mohammed.

"We expected things to improve after Ben Ali was ousted, but it seems that after seven years of the revolution, we'll give our salaries each month to Prime Minister Chahed for him to spend them," he said.

Unemployment nationally exceeds 15 percent, and is much higher in some marginalised regions of the interior. Annual inflation rose to 6.4 percent in December, the highest rate since July 2014.

Egypt: Notorious former security chief cleared by court
[Al Jazeera] Egypt's feared former interior minister was acquitted on corruption charges on Thursday and will be released from detention pending a retrial.

Habib el-Adly was sentenced to seven years in prison for embezzling $110m of public funds after being convicted in April 2017.

After his conviction, he disappeared and Egypt's interior ministry declared him a runaway. He was tossed in the clink

in December after turning himself over to authorities.

Egypt's Court of Cassation - the country's highest appeals court - overturned the corruption verdict because of procedural errors and ordered a retrial. He did not attend Thursday's hearing, Ahram Online reported.

Adly and two other interior ministry officials had been ordered to refund $110m and were fined the same amount, Rooters news agency reported.

Russian steals Soviet era APC to shop for booze
[DailyMail] A Russian man was so desperate for a bottle of wine he hijacked an armoured vehicle and rammed it into a supermarket window.

On the way, he lost control and smashed into a Daewoo car in the Arctic city of Murmansk.

The man hopped out of the Soviet-era multi-purpose fully amphibious auxiliary armoured tracked vehicle and grabbed the wine from the supermarket shelf.

US Army's First Female General Passes at 97
[Ops Lens] When Anna Mae McCabe Hays joined the Army in 1942, she knew she was signing up "for the duration" of the war plus six months. In all likelihood she had no idea that the Army would be her career, nor how successful that career would be. She certainly had no idea that by the time she retired she would rise to be the chief of the Army Nurses Corps and America’s first female general officer.

Anna Mae McCabe Hays was born on February 16, 1920 in Buffalo, New York. Graduating with honors from Allentown High School and instilled with a strong drive to help others, Hays entered Allentown General Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. Like thousands of nurses of her generation, Anna Mae enrolled in the American Red Cross following graduation.

After Pearl Harbor, inspired by a sense of duty and patriotism, Hays joined the Army Nurse Corps (ANC). "I joined during World War II. As you know, the war was declared on December 7, 1941, and from that time until I joined in May of 1942, the papers were full of stories about individuals serving their country. Being a nurse, I too wanted to serve my country."

No deal on German 'Grand Coalition' after 20 hours of talks
If a new round of elections must be held, how would Germans vote, given recent events?
[DW] The three parties have been discussing the outlines for formal coalition talks since Sunday. Many were hoping for a breakthrough by Friday to avoid a conservative minority government or fresh parliamentary elections

Exploratory talks between German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
's Christian Democratic Union (CDU), its Bavarian sister-party, the Christian Social Union (CSU) and the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) have still not ended with an agreement to start formal coalition negotiations.

Party leaders had made progress on some issues, but were still wrangling over taxes, financial policy, immigration and health care more than 20 hours since talks began Thursday morning, according to the DPA news agency.
Several negotiators said talks could last until dawn and did not rule out a decision to adjourn discussions.

Merkel had said Thursday the talks would be "tough," but that she hoped the parties would conclude the preliminary round by Friday.

Negotiators are set to inform their party executives about progress made during the night on Friday morning..

I suspect the answer is in the very first paragraph:

Many were hoping for a breakthrough by Friday to avoid a conservative minority government or fresh parliamentary elections

I think the CDU/CSU/SPD all know exactly how the German people would vote, and it would be a Trump-level earthquake there. With that in mind, they may well opt for the new election, and keep holding elections until they win.

Turkey voices displeasure with US over Gulen, YPG

Turkey to end extraditions to US unless cleric is turned over, Erdogan says

[Ynet] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
will not extradite any suspects to the United States if Washington does not hand over the holy man Ankara blames for orchestrating a failed 2016 military coup, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday.

Ankara accuses US-based Ottoman Turkish holy man Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
of criminal masterminding the putsch and has repeatedly asked Washington for his extradition.

US officials have said courts require sufficient evidence to extradite the elderly holy man who has denied any involvement in the coup.

"We have given the United States 12 turbans so far, but they have not given us back the one we want. They made up excuses from thin air," Erdogan told local administrators at a conference in his presidential palace in Ankara.

"If you're not giving him (Gulen) to us, then excuse us, but from now on whenever you ask us for another terrorist, as long as I am in office, you will not get them," he said.

Turkey summons U.S. charge d'affaires over Syria: Turkish sources

allies.

The Ottoman Turkish foreign ministry summoned the U.S. charge d'affaires to voice its displeasure over Washington's arming and training of the YPG Syrian Kurdish militia in Syria, the sources said.

Turkey and the United States have been at loggerheads over Washington's policy of support for the YPG, which Ankara views as an extension of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) that has waged an insurgency in Turkey's largely Kurdish southeast for more than three decades.

The YPG is the main element in a force that Washington has assisted with training, weapons, air support and help from ground advisers in the battle against Islamic State

Last month the YPG militia said it had fully captured Deir al-Zor's eastern countryside from Islamic State with the help of both the U.S.-led coalition and Russia.

Home Front: WoT
U.S. Justice Dept. Team to Review Obama-Era Hizbullah Probes
[AnNahar] The U.S. Justice Department is forming a team of prosecutors to investigate alleged drug trafficking and money laundering linked to Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Thursday. The move follows reports that B.O. regime officials thwarted drug prosecutions related to Hizbullah for fear of jeopardizing a nuclear deal with Iran.

President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
and congressional Republicans have been relentless in pressuring Sessions to take a fresh look at Obama-era dealings, in an effort that Democrats contend is aimed at steering attention away from investigations into Trump campaign ties to Russian election meddling.

The new team's first task will be to examine evidence from the Obama-era Drug Enforcement Administration program known as Project Cassandra. Sessions announced a review in December, after news website Politico reported that the program had been targeting Hizbullah's alleged trafficking of cocaine into the U.S. and abroad but was stymied by Obama officials.

The B.O. regime at the time was eager to improve relations with Iran and stall its nuclear weapons program.

The U.S. considers Hizbullah to be a "terrorist group" and an Iranian proxy.

Prosecutors who specialize in terrorism, narcotics trafficking and organized crime, led by the acting head of the Justice Department's criminal division, will bring prosecutions designed to restrict the flow of money to terrorist groups, Sessions said. He said he wanted to be sure Project Cassandra and other investigations have adequate resources.

"The Justice Department will leave no stone unturned in order to eliminate threats to our citizens from terrorist organizations and to stem the tide of the devastating drug crisis," Sessions said.

Saleh Commander Presumed Dead Appears in Yemen Video
[AnNahar] A nephew of slain Yemeni strongman former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
, presumed dead or critically maimed in festivities with rebels last month, appeared alive and well in footage that emerged on Thursday.

A video received by AFP showed Tarek Saleh, for years the head of his uncle's forces, addressing a crowd in what a source close to the family said was the southern province of Shabwa, an area controlled by the government against which Ali Abdullah Saleh had fought since 2014.

While the video's authenticity could not be immediately verified, Tarek Saleh appeared to address the killing of his uncle and a senior aide last month. Speaking to a small crowd of men who had gathered to cheer him on, he offered his condolences over "the martyred leader" -- probably a reference to Ali Abdullah Saleh -- and "the martyr Aref al-Zouka".

Zouka, from Shabwa, was secretary general of Saleh's General People's Congress which was allied with the Houthis against the government from 2014 until the end of 2017. GPC member Nabil al-Sufi, a close friend of the Saleh family, said the video was taken after Tarek Saleh arrived in Shabwa. The commander had been presumed dead after being maimed in the festivities with Huthis last month.

The GPC, which has begun to show signs of cracking since Ali Abdullah Saleh's death, on Sunday elected former deputy premier Sadiq Amin Aburas as its new chief.

Long-time enemies, former president Ali Abdullah Saleh and the Huthis joined ranks in 2014, driving Yemen's Saudi-backed government from the capital and setting up a parallel state. But simmering tension between Saleh and the Huthis erupted in Sanaa on November 29, with Tarek Saleh's residence one of the first flashpoints in the fighting.

Israel said to complain to Egypt over exclusion from diplomatic briefings
[IsraelTimes] Ambassador reportedly voices objection over having never been invited to official events, despite security cooperation between nations

Israel has reportedly lodged a formal complaint with Egypt for regularly excluding it from diplomatic events and briefings.

A recent missive from Ambassador to Egypt David Govrin said "Israel’s embassy in Cairo wishes to express its chagrin over the fact that it has never been invited" to briefings held by the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Kan public broadcaster reported Thursday.

According to the report, that included a briefing on Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. in Sinai, a matter on which the Egyptian and Israeli militaries are believed to cooperate closely.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Nahshon would not confirm the complaint, saying, "We do not comment on internal ministry communications."

Since they established diplomatic relations in 1978 after years of hostility and a series of wars, ties between Israel and Egypt have historically been civil but frosty.

In recent years the two countries have enjoyed closer intelligence and security ties over their shared enmity toward Islamist terror groups and other common regional concerns.

Official relations have remained complicated, however, and Israel is deeply unpopular with the Egyptian public.

In November Cairo’s Ambassador to Israel Hazem Khairat said the peace treaty between the nations will remains incomplete as long as a Paleostinian state has not been created.

That same month Egyptian officials declined an Israeli invitation to a ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of former Egyptian president Anwar Sadat’s historic visit to Israel in 1977, which paved the way for peace.

In September Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi in New York in the first-ever public sit-down between the two leaders. The pair had "a comprehensive discussion about the problems of the region," according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Wife Of Man Attacked By Teens During Carjacking Speaks With WJZ About His Recovery
[BALTIMORE.CBSLOCAL] Carjacked, thrown to the ground, and driven over with his own car.

The wife of a Baltimore County man who was attacked during a carjacking talks to WJZ about the vicious attack that now has four teens behind bars. Baltimore County police are looking for two other teens still wanted in connection with the carjacking that left a man seriously injured.

Police aren’t saying how they connected the dots, but we now know that a Comcast worker caught the entire incident on video.

The victim, identified as 69-year-old Jim Willinghan, is still recovering at Shock Trauma, but his wife says he will be moved to another facility to undergo six months of rehab for his broken pelvis.

Police aren’t saying how they connected the dots, but we now know that a Comcast worker caught the entire incident on video.
Last Wednesday morning, Baltimore County police say six teens viciously carjacked, assaulted, and drove over Willinghan. "I got a knock on the door that my husband had been carjacked and assaulted," Willinghan’s wife said. "My husband was innocent. It shouldn’t have happened. I come running out, and he’s laying over there on the corner of the sidewalk."

Willinghan went outside to grab something out of their car when the group attacked him. He suffered bruises on his back and other injuries. The most serious was a broken pelvis, which happened when the teens drove over him before taking off.

"It’s going to be a slow-going process. My husband can’t walk right now, and he’s got a big bruise on his back, slight internal bleeding," Willinghan’s wife said.

Neighbors call the attack senseless, and say they’re now on guard. "It’s crazy. 15 and 16 year olds are supposed to be in school on a Wednesday at 10:30 in the morning," neighbor Linda Knudsen said.

WJZ has learned that a Comcast worker recorded the entire incident and turned the video over to Sherlocks.

On Monday, WJZ first told you when Baltimore County police incarcerated
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
four teens in this case. "They’re violent offenders, even though they’re juveniles, and they needed to be caught and taken off the streets," said Jennifer Peach, with the Baltimore County Police Department.

Police say when they found the teen suspects, they found Willinghan’s stolen car, along with two other stolen cars.

Even with the arrests, the neighborhood where the carjacking occurred still remains on edge as police search for the other two suspects in the case. "Everybody is scared," Knudsen said.

Willinghan’s wife says he will be at Shock Trauma for 10 more days, before being moved to another facility to start the rehab. Three of the teens arrested in this case are being charged as adults, for attempted murder, assault, carjacking, and other charges.

Jihadists Counter-Attack in Fight for Syrian Airbase in Idlib
[AnNahar] Syrian regime forces faced fierce resistance from jihadists Thursday as they fought to capture a key airbase in Idlib, the last province beyond the government's control, a war monitor said.

Russia-backed government forces battled their way into the Abu Duhur military airport on Wednesday night as they pressed a weeks-long offensive in the northwestern province.

Idlib province is almost entirely held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham

Afghanistan
Govt Releases 75 Hizb-e-Islami Prisoners from Kabul Prison
[ToloNews] The Afghan government on Thursday released 75 Hizb-e-Islami party members that had been imprisoned in Pul-e-Charkhi prison in east of Kabul city, officials confirmed.

The prisoners were released in accordance with the peace agreement between government and Hizb-e-Islami last year.

The process of releasing the prisoners has been delayed for months after human rights organizations criticized government for agreeing to the move stating that the political prisoners had been involved in insurgency incidents that killed civilians.

Hizb-e-Islami claims that there are 3,000 of its members being held in Afghan prisons.

Hizb-e-Islami says the prisoners released had been jailed for political reasons but human rights organizations accuse them of having been involved in insurgent attacks where ‘many’ civilians lost their lives.

The prisoners were released based on a peace agreement signed between President Ashraf Ghani and Hizb-e-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in September 2016. Hekmatyar returned to the country after 20 years.

According to Article 11 of the peace agreement, after assessment of their documents all prisoners of Hizb-e-Islami who are accused of political and security crimes and are exempted from ‘the right of people’ – a legal term which is used for those who don’t carry any complaint from members of the public in a court.

It was the third batch of Hizb-e-Islami prisoners who were released on Thursday. The first batch of prisoners were released last year in May which included 55 people.

Later in the year the second group of them were released which included 13 people.

President Ashraf Ghani and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar signed the peace agreement at a ceremony on September 2016.

A few weeks after signing the agreement, Hekmatyar returned to Kabul after self-imposed exile.

Afghanistan
Quetta attack traced back to Afghanistan, claims Pakistani officials
[Khaama] The Pak officials have claimed that Tuesday’s deadly suicide kaboom has been traced back to Afghanistan as tensions remain high between the two neighboring countries who are often blaming each other for remaining reckless to act against the terror group.

"The Chief of General Staff thanked them and informed the diplomatic corps that yesterday’s terrorist attack had been traced back to Afghanistan," according to a statement by the foreign ministry of Pakistain.

No further details have been given regarding the claims made by the Chief of General Staff of Pakistain who reportedly made the remarks during a meeting attended by the foreign ambassadors and diplomats on Wednesday.

According to the Pak officials, the meeting was organized in response to the recent US decisions for blocking aid to Pakistain and with an aim to brief the diplomats regarding the steps Pakistain has taken in the fight against terrorism.

Tuesday’s incident in Quetta took place in the vicinity of Zarghoon Road close to the General Assembly of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, leaving seven people dead and sixteen others maimed.

Balochistan’s Inspector General of Police Moazam Jah Ansari told news hounds that eight coppers were also injured in the attack.

The Afghan and Pak officials often blame the attacks on the anti-government armed elements having safe havens on the two sides of the Durand Line.

The Afghan officials often blame the Haqqani terrorist network for the large scale attacks in Kabul and other parts of the Afghanistan, claiming that the network uses its safe havens in Pakistain for orchestrating such attacks. A claim which has often been endorsed by US officials as well.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
JW Tom Fitton: Clinton Email Scandal 'Worse than everyone expected' (video)
[Judicial Watch] We know the DOJ under the Obama administration was pro-Hillary and didn't prosecute her for the Clinton email scandal. Recently, Judicial Watch uncovered more emails from the Clinton State Department that made their way onto Anthony Weiner's laptop. These emails contained highly-sensitive information and were sent through Hillary Clinton's secret email server by Huma Abedin.

James Comey knew these documents existed on Weiner's laptop and did nothing. Meanwhile, the Mueller operation has been rife with conflicts of interest scandals involving Clinton/Trump biases, notably FBI agent Peter Strzok sending anti-Trump texts. Strzok was the same agent who led the Clinton email investigation. Additionally, Andrew McCabe, the number-two man at the FBI, is politically compromised having not recused himself from the Clinton email investigation.

Reminds me of a certain current AG.

#3  There is much more here than you see now, but wait.

The trail will likely lead back to Obama and his puppet master Brennan. Senior intelligence community members squealing like pigs against Trump was the first clue. If legal pressure and criminal prosecution endangers Clinton, she'll toss those two under the bus quickly. She tossed Comey early on. I fear it's going to get very ugly.

The Washington establishment, Session's recusal and slow rolling are due to fear. They've surely put the pieces together but are sitting on top of a political powder keg. Once uncovered, any attack against the presidential icon Soetoro and the first woman (nearly president) will be seen in a very negative light and be used as political opposition ammunition.

#4  Worse than everyone expected

#5  I expect it to be a lot worse than what it is now.
Posted by: DarthVader || 01/12/2018 9:31 Comments || Top||

#6  I expect certain mid level sacrificial lambs. It will never go to the top officially or legally, only implied. It might get as high as Strzok, Abedin, no way, but that would be nice. McCain will get $hit on by both sides.
Posted by: jvalentour || 01/12/2018 10:07 Comments || Top||

#7  The key to Clinton is Huma, and the key to Obama is ValJar. Huma will fold under hard pressure and Hilda knows it and since the CGI money laundering scheme is folding, buying her and others off will be harder and harder to do. ValJar is a far harder nut to crack, and remember that she lives, literally, with CHamp at the Kalorama compound. SO surveillance and electronic monitoring are under the USSS protective umbrella and any investigation would be visible to their detail, by now almost certainly filled with sympathetic agents and supervisors.

#8  When the full extent of the case is laid out for the POTUS and the AG in a detailed briefing and there will be one when they decide who to prosecute and what for, I would bet that Trump will drop the hammer on them all...after all of the crap that Hillary and her minions have put him through this year do you doubt that if he has a chance to prosecute for a high crime he will?

I have no doubt he will pursue these jackals to the full extent of the law.

#9  I believe a certain captain of the Titanic discovered the same thing about a certain Iceberg too...

I suspect this goes a lot deeper. May need to grant some big name immunity - and possible witness protection - to get down deeper. But that's IMHO - I'm not any sort of investigator.

Air Strikes in North Yemen Kill at Least 14
[AnNahar] Saudi-led coalition air strikes on a marketplace and house in rebel-held northern Yemen

have left at least 14 people dead, witnesses and a rebel-run news agency said Thursday.

An eyewitness in the northern province of Saada told AFP that 12 people had been killed in strikes on the marketplace on Wednesday evening, including women.

The rebel-run news agency Saba gave the same toll and accused the coalition of using cluster bombs in that attack in Kataf city.

In the Baqim district of Saada province, two people were killed in a Saudi-led air strike on a house, another witness said.

Saba gave the same toll and said that separate strikes on a house near the Saudi border had left another two people dead although there was no independent confirmation.
