Officials said she got her head stuck in a truck’s exhaust pipe near the Winstock Music Festival in Winsted. It is not clear why she did so. The battery died so her boyfriend asked her to suck-start it?
The local fire department was called in, and used a power saw to help get her out.
The McLeod County Sheriff’s office said they cited her for underage drinking Just send her home with the last six inches of tailpipe stuck to her head and her friends and parents will probably take care of the problem by other means.

[Wash. Free Beacon] - Liberal billionaire George Soros purchased $3 million worth of stock holdings in the publisher of the New York Times, filings show.
Soros's stock buy included 126,400 shares in the New York Times Company through Soros Fund Management LLC, the billionaire's New York City-based investment firm. The shares were valued at $3,046,000 at the time of purchase and are shown in a May 15 filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Soros's investment in the Times was for Class A stock holdings, which are publicly traded, as opposed to its Class B stock, which are privately held. Class B are the voting shares; i.e., the ones that count.

No, it doesn't count as charitable deduction when you file with the IRS. Though for the Left, they probably do consider this their kind of 'charity'.

Opportunity was designed to last 90 'sol' (martian day.) Instead, it lasted some 14 years of useful service.
I'll say we really got our money worth here. I hope it survive.
U.S. President Donald Trump was left to talk up a poor deal on Tuesday afternoon as he emerged from a day of photo ops and brief discussions with North Korean leader Kim.
Commentators worldwide were quick to point out that far from achieving a commitment to "complete, verifiable and irreversible" de-nuclearization that he had trumpeted ahead of the summit, Trump merely persuaded Kim to work "towards" de-nuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. Rome - not built Monday.
While President Moon hailed the summit, conservative pundits in South Korea were unimpressed.
[The] former chief of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, said, "The agreement made no mention of complete, verifiable and irreversible de-nuclearization or a deadline on nuclear dismantlement."
What alarmed them more was Trump's throwaway promise to end "war games" with South Korea, which he described as "very expensive" and "very provocative." [He] denounced it as a "bombshell announcement." But more importantly, Trump didn't ask us for permission to make a promise!
[A professor] at Korea University said, "With the latest agreement, we can kiss goodbye to the prospect of North Korean denuclearization." [Another Professor] also weighed into the debate. "If joint South Korea-U.S. military exercises are halted, the role of the Combined Forces Command ends and U.S. troop numbers will naturally decline," he claimed.
[Yet another Professor] went further, slamming the agreement as "the scam of the century that reflected 99 percent of North Korea's wishes." He pointed out that a close look at the agreement shows no binding commitments and only agreements in principle. No argument there, genius. So what? read on.
[A]former chief presidential secretary for foreign affairs, said Trump "denied the value of the South Korea-U.S. alliance and the legitimacy of joint military drills. It looks like the alliance is on the road to dismantlement." Takes two to tango, buckaroo.
[A cooler head] at the Institute for National Security Strategy was calmer. "It is true that the results are weaker than expected," he said. "It seems Trump got too greedy and settled for agreements in principle while failing to tackle the technical problems." I, too, am disappointed the Versailles Treaty wasn't signed the first day.
But he admitted that the fact of the meeting itself and the atmosphere it creates should not be underestimated. "It's significant that North Korea and the U.S., which maintained hostile relations for decades, have taken steps to begin a new relationship," he added. I deleted the Korean names, because they wouldn't mean anything to you anyway. Hit the link if you're curious. I also figure word-searches by copyright queens are less likely to find something offensive.

I'm guessing the war games provide cash and fabulous prizes to the SKor mil/gov. Or at least justify someone's existence and ever-expanding budget. The crunching noise you hear is the sound of rice bowls breaking

Should we have an alliance with folks who's intellectuals are so blind and stupid? Okay, I take that back, most intellectuals fit that definition these days.

Not so Fast.
Righthaven is Kaput, yes but the bureaucrats at the EU are working hard to destroy the Fair Use Exemption by attacking the ISPs and Survey Engine side... [Sanizdata] The EU vs. The Internet
Reaction in South Korea, and indeed across the world, to the first summit between the leaders of the United States and North Korea has, as you would expect in this age of social media, been loud and mixed.
But if you cut away opinion, which is set alight by reluctance to credit the players ― North Korea's Kim Jong-un, U.S. President Donald Trump and, here in South Korea, President Moon Jae-in ― and if you discount the impatient expectation of some kind of Versailles-peace-treaty-in-a-day ― there is a common thread to the reaction. 'mpatient expectation of a peace treaty in a day'. Nice turn of a phrase.
It comes in the form of a question: May we now dare to hope? At least now, there is reason to hope, yet again.
We dared to hope, but were let down because, it turned out, North Korea just wanted our money. So, we ask now, have things really changed? But, but ... Trump gave him a promise. Can Fat Boy buy more caviar with Trump's promise?
On the yes side, we note two differences. First, South Koreans are not alone. The story now is about the United States getting cozy with North Korea. In their statement on Tuesday, Trump and Kim Jong-un committed to "establish new U.S.-DPRK relations … for peace and prosperity." This, in my opinion, is the most significant of the four points of their joint declaration ― the others (a peace structure, denuclearization and recovery of war remains) are conditions for that new relationship to happen.
Second, this time it is the North Koreans who are initiating change. Whether driven to by Trump's belligerence last year or not, it was Kim Jong-un who signaled his willingness to reach out. To his credit, and unexpectedly for leaders who take a path of belligerence, Trump's decision to break with the U.S. tradition of refusing to meet North Korean leaders has brought us thus far. Hat tip: The Donald.
Is Kim Jong-un on his own letting go of all that has sustained his family's dynasty? Or is this outbreak of peace simply a change of strategy?
The answer is that we don't know yet, but right now, we dare to hope.

John McCain's long love affair with the MSM and Across the Aisle™ and what did it get him? Treachery just means your are useful in the short term...
The overwhelming victory of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) in the local elections shows high public support and approval for the Moon Jae-in administration, especially amid the ongoing reconciliatory mood with North Korea which eclipsed other political issues. With the victory, Moon's reform drives and peace overtures are likely to gain momentum. You get even more public support if the Korea Times is on your side.
The DPK's sweeping victory had long been expected considering the ever-high approval rating of the President, which keeps hovering over 70 percent. Such a forecast became firm along with the peace atmosphere surrounding the Korean Peninsula that has included two inter-Korean summits and the first-ever Washington-Pyongyang summit. Eat your heart out, HRC.

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A Federal Police personnel and his driver were maimed as a kaboom took place, north of Babel province, a security source was quoted saying on Monday.
Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, "a bomb went off targeting a patrol for Federal Police in al-Owaisat region in Jurf-ul Nasar, leaving a police captain and his driver injured."
Security troops, according to the source, who preferred anonymity, "cordoned off the blast scene and transferred the injured to hospital for treatment."
Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) ‐ A new batch of the T-50 jet fighters arrived Wednesday in Iraq coming from South Korea to help in the fight against Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. In a brief statement, the Iraqi Air Force said, "a new six-jet batch of T-50 has arrived in Iraq."
Last year, Iraq said it will receive 24 T-50 (Golden Eagle) fighter jets from South Korea as part of an agreement signed in 2013.
The order, including training, was valued at $1.1 billion, but the manufacturing Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) said supporting the aircraft over 20 years will take total revenue beyond $2 billion.
The KAI T-50 Golden Eagle is a family of South Korean supersonic advanced trainers and light combat aircraft, developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) with Lockheed Martin. The T-50 is South Korea’s first indigenous supersonic aircraft and one of the world’s few supersonic trainers.
Iraqi air forces, assisted by jets from a U.S.-led international coalition, have been actively bombarding Islamic State bad boys’ locations in several Iraqi provinces as part of a major operation that seeks to completely eliminate the group after Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced in December the full liberation of Iraqi lands.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said “a terrorist group attacked, early today, a checkpoint of Tribal Mobilization Forces near Qurret Tabah village, which resulted in wounding some of them.”

Kirkuk (Iraqinews.com) – Federal police forces in Iraq have arrested four members of Islamic State (IS) and destroyed three of their terrorist hotbeds during a security campaign in Kirkuk.
The Federal Police Command, according to Iraqi website Alghad Press, said, “Troops of the 5th and 6th divisions of the federal police, backed by Iraqi warplanes, launched a security campaign from three axes to eliminate IS gangs and maintain law on the outskirts of Kirkuk.”
“The troops managed to arrest four IS members and destroyed three of their hideouts during the operation,” the command said, adding that the operation will continue until purging the remaining areas from terrorism.

IT wasn't actually an extradition. The Kurd's just apprehended the self-confessed killer and handed him to a German federal police detachment on a plane.
The Iraqi ministry of justice wasn't involved and is actually protesting.
I wonder if the lack of a legal basis for this de facto extradition will result in the killer walking free.
The killer btw invaded was admitted to Germany without any legal basis in the first place.

[ORLANDOSENTINEL] The gunman holding four children hostage in an apartment after a shootout with police did not give any indication while talking to negotiators that he planned to harm the kids, police Chief John Mina said Tuesday evening in offering more details about the nearly daylong standoff.
"He never made any threats to the children. In these types of situations, that’s our biggest concern," Mina said. "We never want to do something that’s going to provoke the suspect."
Mina said police never specifically heard the children while negotiating with Gary Wayne Lindsey Jr. and don’t know when they were shot to death.
But when SWAT officers breached several windows of the apartment about 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Mina said they saw that at least one child was already dead ‐ so they went in, using gas. Inside, they found the bodies of two children in one bedroom and the two others in another bedroom.

[PRESSTV] North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un ...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished... told US president Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... that denuclearization depends on ceasing antagonism between the two nations.
According to the Pyongyang's official news agency the KCNA on early Wednesday, Kim agreed to the "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" if the two sides refrained "from antagonizing... each other out of mutual understanding."
The KCNA also said that the two men each asked the other to visit their country.
"The two top leaders gladly accepted each other's invitation," said the report.
It also said that the summit had been an "epoch-making meeting" that would help foster "a radical switchover in the most hostile (North Korea)-US relations."
Earlier in the day, Trump says the United States was stopping "very provocative" and expensive military exercises with South Korea to facilitate denuclearization negotiations with North Korea.

[PRESSTV] The European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... says the US departure from the Iran nuclear deal has had a negative effect on credibility of international agreements.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing a European parliament plenary session in Strasbourg.
Mogherini went on to underscore the EU's support for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), stressing that the there was no "alternative" to it, regardless of the US withdrawal.
She added that finding solutions for banking and finance issues, is a key challenge for the EU member states.
"The most important challenge now is to find solutions for banking and finance because legitimate trade and investment needs banking partners and financial models that work," she added.
"These issues are being addressed through intensive expert consultations happening basically on the daily basis, including in Brussels and in Tehran last week, but also on the political level," she added.

In the late 1700s Goethe serialized Faust in Germanic newspapers with 3 different endings and let the people vote on the winning ending. This was to gauge how the populace would accept science driven enlightenment and the grey areas (Not morally black and white) that industrialization would bring to life.
As we know Faust had sold his soul to the devil. If the populace let him weasel and squirm his way out of hell (the middle ending... sort of an active replacement for Limbo) then industrialization and science would be the way to take Germanic society. That middle ending was the one chosen. This EU viewpoint is repudiating the society and people's choice of the late 1700s!

The announcement was made on Tuesday during a joint pressers held in the Iraqi city of Najaf.
Sadr's Sairoon bloc won 54 out of 329 seats in the Iraqi parliament. The Fatah (Conquest) alliance, led by Badr Organization Secretary General Hadi al-Ameri, and Abadi's Nasr (Victory) coalition finished second and third with 47 and 42 seats, respectively.
Meanwhile, ...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently... "The matter is exclusively in the hands of the judiciary, not politicians. The government and parliament don’t have the power to cancel the election," he said.
On Sunday, the storage site housing ballot boxes from Iraq’s May parliamentary elections caught fire ahead of a recount.
On Monday, Iraqi state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
announced that three of the suspects are members of the country's police force while the other is a employee of the Independent High Elections Commission.

[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... says the United States was stopping "very provocative" and expensive military exercises with South Korea to facilitate denuclearization negotiations with North Korea.
The United States and South Korea hold regular military drills to the fury of North Korea, which has long seen the drills as preparations to invade it.
"The war games are very expensive, we pay for the majority of them," Trump told a news conference on Tuesday in Singapore after a historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un ...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished... .
"Under the circumstances, that we’re negotiating ... I think it’s inappropriate to be having war games."
Following Tuesday’s summit, Trump and Kim signed a document described by the American leader as important and comprehensive.
The document says the US and North Korea "commit to establish [sic] new... relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity."
North Korea also reaffirmed its commitment to working "towards complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," a broad wording that could mean phased denuclearization in return for a number of potential American commitments along the way.

I still don't see how this process isn't going to end in a repeat of 1994. The Norks will sign an agreement, cash in, cheat and when they're exposed they will turn aggressive again, from a stronger position.
What gives me hope is Trump's emulation of the Nork's negotiation style, exemplified in his sudden cancellation & recommitment to the meeting.

In terms of preparedness the US/SK exercises have little practical utility. Their primary purpose is a symbolic show of bilateral force. Essential coordination exercises will continue as always and conducted with no fanfare. I say,for now, halt the drills and publically announce the money will be diverted into building a few more MOAB's. But that's just me.

Err..you forget he's a salesman. I've always said, we'd be better off having a top used car salesman dealing than State Dept twits. The used car salesmen are not about social virtue flashing, they're about the bottom line. He's made his introductory pitch with a 'customer'. One of the things he has to sell is stroking the customer's ego which is indeed seeking validation and standing (sort of the reverse of those feeding Trump's predecessor's ego).
[DAWN] Indian troops on Tuesday rubbed out a resident of a border village of Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) in the latest incident of unprovoked ceasefire violation, residents and officials said.
Muhammad Shakil Qureshi, a resident of Taroti Dharamsal village in Abbaspur tehsil of Poonch district, became the victim of "assassination", since he was sniped by Indian forces, in an apparent violation of the two-week-old understanding between top military officials of Pakistain and India to "fully implement a 15-year old truce agreement in letter and in spirit", the officials said.
"The 45-year old victim was grazing cattle near his home when he was hit from across the divide with a single gunshot at about 3:30pm without any provocation, leaving him dead on the spot," said police official Hassan Wazir Afridi.

[DAWN] The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday accepted an appeal filed by the state to increase the prison sentence imposed on a former additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) and his wife for torturing a minor domestic employee.
A two-member division bench consisting of Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb also dismissed an appeal filed by former ADSJ Raja Khurram Ali Khan and Maheen Zafar, and increased their sentences from one year to three years in prison, with a fine of Rs500,000.
Khan and Zafar were also convicted under section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender) of the Pakistain Penal Code and sentenced to six months in prison.
Zafar was also convicted under PPC sections 337-A(i) and 337-F(i) and ordered to pay the victim, Taiba, Rs500,000.
Following the judgement, Khan was taken into custody and shifted to jail. The sentences will run concurrently.
"There can be no compensation in monetary terms for the anguish suffered by the victim, an innocent, helpless and vulnerable child, but we feel that an amount of Rs. 500,000 ... may be a reasonable symbolic payment as ’daman’ to Taiba Bibi as compensation for the agony which she had to suffer," the judgment reads.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels launched a new assault on the besieged Shiite towns of al-Fou’aa and Kafraya in rural Idlib tonight, the National Defense Forces (NDF) reported.
According to the NDF, intense festivities broke-out at the eastern outskirts of Kafraya when the jihadist rebels, led by their Uzbeki imported muscle, attacked their positions from the Barouma Farms.
Thus far, the pro-government forces have managed to fend off the jihadist advances, but fierce festivities are still ongoing.
For the past four days, the jihadist rebels have launched repeated attacks on al-Fou’aa and Kafraya, prompting the Syrian and Russian air forces to remain active in the Idlib Governorate.
These attacks by the rebel forces is a clear violation of the Astana peace conference agreement, which called for all parties to adhere to a strict ceasefire in the Idlib Governorate.

[ALMASDARNEWS] For the third time in the last ten days, the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) has attempted to enter the strategic border-city of Albukamal in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
According to a field report from Deir Ezzor, the Islamic State murderous Moslems attempted to cross the Euphrates River this morning, but were spotted by Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scouts prior to reaching the western shore.
Once the Islamic State fighters did reach the western bank of the Euphrates River, the Syrian Army opened fire on the murderous Moslems before they could move any closer to Albukamal.
A source in Deir Ezzor told al-Masdar that the Syrian Army killed most of the Islamic State murderous Moslems, while the remaining murderous Moslems fled across the river.
At least three bodies were left on the western shore of the Euphrates; they were later pulled out by the Syrian Arab Army.

[Bangkok Post] The Thai military is stepping up security measures in the far South following a series of gun attacks on local residents. The move follows a shooting early yesterday morning in Yala's Bannang Sata district in which five men were killed. Last Thursday, four residents of Narathiwat's Sukhirin district were gunned down as they panned for gold at a canal near the Sai Buri River.
Gen Wanlop Thitikul, deputy commander of the Fourth Army, said he had ordered all units to intensify security operations during the last ten days of Ramadan.
Military spokesman Jatuporn Klamphasut said all security units have been told to coordinate closely with community leaders to provide security for locals.

In the past few days, forces loyal to Yemen’s ex-president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, have closed in on Hudaydah, reportedly seizing a number of nearby areas. The UAE, which is a party to the Saudi-led coalition, is playing a key role in the offensive.

It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... Ansarullah movement is using the besieged port for weapons delivery, an allegation rejected by the fighters.
The Houthi movement has been both running state affairs in the absence of an effective government and defending the country against the Saudi aggression with the help of allied popular forces.
Ansarullah has pledged a firm response to a military offensive against Hudaydah. Residents of the port city are also preparing to help the Houthis against any such invasion.
Yemeni media reports over the past days suggest that people from other parts of Yemen are rushing to the port city to assist the armed forces in their counter-attacks in the wake of a potential Emirati offensive.

[DAILYCALLER] The FBI placed in durance vile You have the right to remain silent... more than 70 people in the U.S. and Nigeria for engaging in a massive email scam that has taken millions of dollars from U.S. companies in 2018 alone.
The arrests came over a month after an email protection group, Agari, exposed the scammers behind the infamous "Nigerian Prince" email scams that have been appearing in American inboxes for years. The FBI announced Monday it had taken down more than 70 members of the west African crime ring in an action dubbed Operation Wire Wire, The Wall Street Journal reported. The organization had mostly targeted the finance departments of U.S. companies, posing as business partners seeking bill payments.
"They are doing their research ... going onto company websites and looking for the right people," Scott Smith, FBI assistant director for the Cyber Division, told TheWSJ. "They may even go as far as pulling annual reports and finding what companies they do business with and spoofing those accounts."
Agari analyzed 59,652 unique email messages from 78 email accounts that belonged to 10 criminal organizations over the course of 10 months to identify 10 separate crime syndicates in May, but the FBI’s operation targeted just one of those groups. Of the other nine, the vast majority operate out of Nigeria, and many target individuals rather than companies. It’s unclear whether the FBI plans to take action against those as well.
American businesses lost $675 million from BEC scams in 2017 ‐ a 300-percent increase from the $215 million they lost in 2014, according to the FBI’s IC3 2017 Internet Crime Report. The numbers continue to skyrocket in 2018, with $685 million in losses reported to the FBI in the first quarter of 2018 alone, according to TheWSJ.
"While much of the high-profile attention paid to email security has focused on nation state actors, the reality is that American businesses are far more likely to be attacked by BEC scammers operating from Africa," said Patrick Peterson, Agari’s founder and executive chairman, in a May blurb. "The sad irony is that these foreign adversaries are using our own legitimate infrastructure against us in attacks that are far more damaging and much harder to detect than any intrusion or malware."
Those arrested in Nigeria will face charges and be tried there, while the U.S. will keep jurisdiction over those arrested domestically.

Kabila, whose second term officially ended in 2016, is constitutionally ineligible for December's poll, although his rivals accuse him of wanting to stay in power.
So far, he has not clearly stated whether he will step aside, despite appeals from the international community to publicly say he will not run for re-election.
But DRC Prime Minister Bruno Tshibala said on Tuesday that Kabila will respect the constitution.
"The elections are going to take place without the participation of President Kabila, who will abide by the spirit and the letter of the constitution," he said in an interview on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum of the Americas conference in Montreal, Canada.

Local sources, requesting anonymity, said the airborne assaults targeted residential buildings in Tal Shayr, which is located in the southeastern part of the province, causing the casualties, Syria’s state-run television network reported.
The development came only a day after at least 18 Iraqi refugees were killed when a US-led airstrike hit a school in Khuweibra village of Hasakah province.
The US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be ISIS targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.
The military alliance has repeatedly been accused of targeting and killing civilians. It has also been largely incapable of achieving its declared goal of destroying ISIS.

[PRESSTV] Italia on Tuesday said it would not accept "hypocritical lessons" from countries like La Belle France on migrants colonists, in a growing row over 629 people stranded in the Mediterranean to whom Rome refused entry.
"The statements concerning (the humanitarian ship) Aquarius that come from La Belle France are surprising ... Italia cannot accept hypocritical lessons from countries that have preferred to look the other way on immigration," the new populist government said in statement initially reported by Italian media and then confirmed by government representatives to AFP.
The government was responding to French President Emmanuel Macron accusation of "irresponsibility" over Italia's handling of the crisis.
"The Italian government has never abandoned the almost 700 people aboard the Aquarius," the statement in reply insists.
The migrants colonists saved by the Aquarius, run by French NGO SOS Mediterranee, were stuck on the overloaded ship for over 30 hours as Italia and Malta bickered over who should take them before Spain stepped in and offered the port in Valencia as a place for the migrants colonists to land in Europe.

[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... ’s daughter, Ivanka, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, have reportedly earned at least 82 million dollars from outside income while serving as senior White House advisers.
The revelation was made by the Washington Post on Tuesday, raising concern about possible conflicts of interest.
The American daily, citing financial disclosure forms, reported that Ivanka had made 3.9 million dollars from her stake in the Trump International Hotel and more than two million dollars from her personal clothing brand during 2017.
The US president’s daughter also received a $289,000 advance for her book, Women Who Work, published last year. She said she would donate the profits from the book to charity.
Ivanka’s husband brought in over five million dollars in income last year from Quail Ridge, a New Jersey apartment complex that was purchased by his family’s business, Kushner Companies.
The Post reported that Jared’s 2017 assets were worth between $179m and $735m, while Ivanka’s were worth between about $55.3m and $75.6m.
The couple’s vast business investments have repeatedly drawn scrutiny for potential ethics violations and conflicts of interest, with watchdog groups in the United States accusing the Trump family of using the presidency and its stature for personal profit.
Peter Mirijanian, a front man for the couple's ethics counsel, however, claimed that Ivanka and Kushner had abided by government ethics rules.
"Since joining the administration, Mr. Kushner and Ms. Trump have complied with the rules and restrictions as set out by the Office of Government Ethics," Mirijanian said in a statement.
Trump has faced a furious backlash from political opponents and ethics experts for placing his children in positions of power.

A large share of the $82 million, I'm sure, has been pumped back into charity.
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] Rather than celebrating Trump’s historic achievements, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough railed against the President Tuesday morning, claiming the Commander-in-Chief is "sick" for not publicly condemning North Korea’s human right’s record during the summit and repudiating the Communist regime’s treatment of Warmbier.
"I thought it was tortured logic at best to say that the North Koreans murder of Otto Warmbier was a time of reflection for them ‐ that’s just not true at all. I personally think it’s sick for him to suggest such a thing about the most murderous regime, one of the most murderous regimes on the face of the earth," Scarborough lamented.
"We learned after the fall of the Soviet Union, that when Reagan became president and started talking constantly about the liberation of Russians and people in eastern Europe ...also known as Moslem Lebensraum... and talked about freedom there were whispers in gulags in the Soviet about tapping on the walls, about ’Reagan the liberator.’ he brought hope to those who were imprisoned there with great moral authority and he helped to end the cold war," he continued. "Here, you have Donald trump who has made it clear that ‐ well, that human rights ...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you... aren’t going to be a part of any negotiations."
Trump is too simple-minded to understand human rights is the "hallmark of sound American policy," Scarborough’s guest, presidential historian Jon Meacham, added.
"Complexity is not Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... ’s friend, obviously, and never has been and isn’t here," he said. "Suddenly that personal characteristic ‐ his need to simplify everything, to make a deal out of it in which he is a protagonist and the person across the table is a co-star to some extent, is now intersecting with the life of nations."

Trump is too simple-minded to understand human rights is the "hallmark of sound American policy," Scarborough’s guest, presidential historian Jon Meacham, added.
In the 70s&80s Reagan was called simple-minded for condemning communism and calling the Soviet Union an empire of evil.
Back then the consensus in the political class was that the Soviet Union was an ascendant and (on their own terms) successful power, while the West was inevitably declining.
Notwithstanding the hypocrisy of Trump's critics, it would be a grave mistake not to take into account the uniquely depraved, deformed and insane nature of North Korea's regime which also defines its conduct towards other nations.
Telling lies to oneself to justify amoral realpolitik leads to cognitive dissonance and is dangerous.
Therefore:
Islam is not peace.
Islam is not a religion of peace.
Kim Jong-Un does not love his people.

We can fix them in less than an hour. After nuking North Korea out of existence, there won't be anymore human rights violations. How's that sound Commie Joe?

He reminded netizens that the two countries had been threatening to use nuclear weapons against each other since the Korean War began.

[DAWN] Taliban ...Arabic for students... fighters killed a governor and took control of his district in northern Afghanistan as festivities broke out across the country, officials said on Tuesday, accusing the gunnies of defying the start of a government ceasefire with them.
There was intense fighting between Afghan cops and Taliban button men in the northern provinces of Faryab and Sari Pul, with officials reporting an unspecified number of casualties on both sides.
The governor of Kohistan ...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns.... district in Faryab was killed along with eight others in an ambush overnight, provincial governor front man Jawed Bidar told AFP, blaming the Taliban.
He said the gunnies had seized control of the district. That was confirmed by provincial police chief Nabi Jan Mullah Khail.
The Taliban claimed the Faryab attack as well as one in Sayad district of neighbouring Sari Pul where provincial governor front man Zabiullah Amani said fighting was still underway.
"Last night large numbers of Taliban attacked several villages... the fighting continues and both sides have casualties," Amani told AFP. "We have asked for more reinforcements."
A jacket wallah driving a Humvee and button men also attacked a district government building in the southeastern province of Ghazni overnight, killing five people, all coppers, and wounding 26, including the district governor, provincial governor front man Arif Noori told AFP.
Noori blamed the Taliban for the attack, although no group has so far grabbed credit.
"The ceasefire went on effect this morning," interior ministry front man Najib Danish said.
"We have ordered our forces to defend with all their power if they are attacked by an enemy that has no respect for anything." The attacks come as Pakistain's powerful army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visits Kabul where he was set to meet with President Ashraf Ghani ...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. .. , Pakistain's military front man Major General Asif Ghafoor said.
Pakistain has long been accused of supporting the Taliban and providing safe haven to its leaders ‐ charges Islamabad denies.
Ghani on Thursday announced police and troops would halt hostilities with the Taliban for eight days ‐ though he warned that operations against other groups, including Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group, would continue.
The Taliban said Saturday their fighters would stop attacking Afghan cops but only for the first three days of Eid, the holiday capping Ramadan, that begins at the end of this week.
They said they would continue attacking US-led NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all.... troops.
If it holds, analysts had expressed cautious optimism that the agreements could help build trust between the government and the Taliban and lay the groundwork for peace talks.
But with myriad gangs in Afghanistan, there are still fears that IS could continue to carry out attacks ‐ or even be helped by the Haqqani Network, a brutal arm of the Taliban that is suspected of partnering with IS on attacks in Kabul in the past.

[DAWN] Heavy fighting ... as opposed to the more usual name-calling or slapsy... in Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic... between pro-government forces and sock puppets of the Medes and the Persians has killed more than 600 people on both sides in recent days, security officials said on Monday.
Government forces, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, have been advancing along the western coast in recent weeks as they battle the Iran-allied rebels, known as Houthis. The fighting has escalated as government forces close in on the Red Sea port of Hodeida, a vital lifeline through which most of Yemen’s food and medicine enters.
Witnesses, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said the fighting has forced dozens of families to leave their homes.
The United States urged all parties of the conflict to ensure humanitarian access to the Yemeni people, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday. The US, he said, is closely following developments in Hodeidah and urged Emirati leaders to preserve "the free flow of humanitarian aid and life-saving commercial imports."
International aid group Doctors Without Borders said on Monday the Saudi-led coalition attacked a cholera treatment centre in the northern province of Hajja. The group, known by its French acronym MSF, has temporarily frozen its activities in the area, "until we guarantee the safety of our staff and patients," said Joo Martins, MSF’s head of mission in Yemen tweeted.

[PRESSTV] US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has threatened North Korea with the policy of maximum pressure if it does not stick to the outcome of the historic summit between President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... and North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un ...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished... McConnell, speaking during the opening session of the Senate on Tuesday, said he supported the goals contained in the Trump-Kim’s joint statement on denuclearization but added that Washington must be prepared to respond if Pyongyang failed to comply.
"If North Korea does not prove willing to follow through, we and our allies must be prepared to restore the policy of maximum pressure," he said.
The Senate majority leader added that he was supportive of the White House position on resolving the North Korea problem but emphasized the importance of attaining the end goal.
"The goal of the United States is complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," McConnell said.
Earlier in the day, Trump and the North Korean leader signed a joint statement at the end of their historic meeting in Singapore, promising a new relationship between the nations and pledging to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
Kim "reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" and Trump, in exchange, agreed to "provide security guarantees" to North Korea.

[PRESSTV] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey... says Ankara will utilize sophisticated Russian-made S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, which it plans to acquire under a deal finalized late last year, if necessary.
"We will not just buy the S-400s and place them in a storehouse. We will use them if need be. These are defense systems. What are we going to do with them if not use these defense systems? Are we going to depend on the United States again? We have been demanding them for years, but the answer given to us has been: The [US] Congress is not allowing. We are tired of this," Erdogan said in remarks broadcast live by private Ottoman Turkish-language TGRT Haber television news network.
The Ottoman Turkish president added, "Russia has responded to our offer with a pretty tempting offer. They said they would even get into a joint production. And with respect to loans, they have offered us pretty good loan terms."
On June 8, Ottoman Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said his country had an unalienable right to protect its own security and will spare no efforts to procure S-400 missile systems.
"The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... is currently unable to repel a missile attack on its soil. The Russian anti-missile systems would strengthen the Ottoman Turkish air defense capabilities. The countries, which had refused to supply Turkey with advanced air defense systems wanted to undermine Turkey's military prowess," Soylu said.

[SunStar] A militant, believed to have ties with kidnap-for-ranson-group, was killed while a New People’s Army militant was captured in separate clashes in Zamboanga Peninsula, the military reported on Sunday. The slain militant was identified as Haton Hassan, and the captured NPA militant as Jerry Nunez Macabinta alias “Ka Elly.”
Military spokesman Roseller Murillo said Hassan was killed in a gun battle Saturday in the village of Panabutan, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte. He said the troops were on patrol when they clashed with the rebel group led by Jumalon Tungkalan. Murillo said the battle lasted around five minutes, after which the group scattered.
Murillo said that Macabinta was captured following a five-minute clash Saturday in the village of Balonai, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur. He said troops were conducting combat operations when they clashed with five NPA rebels. Murillo said the militants, who belong to the Section Committee-KARA of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee, fled in different directions leaving Macabinta behind.
[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... 's attacks on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau show that his administration is full of "crybabies," Democratic Senator Tim Kaine says.
"The Trump administration is filled with people with glass jaws who they love to punch people, but if somebody punches back? They just can’t believe it. They’re crybabies," Kaine told The Washington Post on Tuesday.
"President Trump can name-call everybody all day long. And somebody gets in his face a little bit and they melt into a pool of lukewarm water," said Kaine, who was the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential nominee in the 2016 election.
He added that "the scuffle over the weekend shows how weak the administration is."
On Saturday, Trump left the Group of Seven (G7) industrial nations’ summit in Canada early in anticipation of the meeting with North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un ...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished... in Singapore.
Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said after the G7 summit that it was "kind of insulting" that the United States implemented steel and aluminum tariffs against his country on the basis of national security. Trudeau also promised to slap retaliatory tariffs against Washington and said that Canada "will not be pushed around."

Has he noticed what his erstwhile boss, HRC, has been doing for the last 2 years?
[DAWN] BACK in July 1979, the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) mounted a decisive assault on Managua, the Nicaraguan capital, from a nearby town called Masaya, overthrowing the nearly four-decade-old Somoza dictatorship. Last week, a report from Masaya described it as almost completely controlled by rebels opposed to President Daniel Ortega’s continued rule.
There is irony in that development, given that Ortega, one of the main Sandinista commanders, emerged as head of the administration setup in 1979, and as a symbol of the revolutionary transformation Nicaragua underwent subsequently. He is known to visit Masaya, recognised as the cradle of Sandinismo, annually, not least to commemorate the death of a brother killed 40 years ago by Anastasio Somoza’s dreaded National Guard.
He is no longer welcome there. Popular unrest sparked on April 19 this year by pension ’reforms’ whereby workers (and businesses) would contribute more and receive less at retirement spiralled out of control when security forces and government supporters responded with violence against the protesters. Ortega rescinded the pension changes, but it was too late. Pent-up resentments related to other various issues kept emotions on the boil.

[Mindanao Examiner] Ten Abu Sayyaf rebels have surrendered in the Basilan province and the military said they would be reintegrated into society as part of the government’s Balik-Loob program. The terrorists led by Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Bobong Mastul surrendered with their weapons in Sumisip town on Friday, according to the Western Mindanao Command.
Quoting the rebels, military spokesman Gerry Besana said the Abu Sayyaf militants “finally decided to re-embrace Islam and ask forgiveness for all their wrong-doings upon hearing the encouragements (to surrender peacefully) from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and by President Rodrigo Duterte himself.”.
The military released the names of the other terrorists as Atotong Sarahadil, Mudzrie Salahudin Jabbon, Sapwan Kapitan Aliman, Nassir Jaid Tahil, Hair Tiglama Kawakibon, Adeh Kawakibon, Rubin Ikih, Aminin Baliyong and Suedin Muril.
It is not clear whether the rebels could avail the Balik-Loob program because it was created to reintegrate surrendered communist New People’s Army militants into society.
