Mike Huckabee, former presidential candidate and governor of Arkansas, says the Republican leadership is more concerned Donald Trump will win the 2016 election than they are he will lose and that is why they are jumping ship.
"A lot of these bed-wetting, hand-wringing Republicans -- they're not afraid Donald Trump is gonna lose. They're scared to death he's gonna win," Huckabee told Megyn Kelly. "And if he wins, he's going to mess up the neat little package of fun they have because they all play to the donor class, and Donald Trump is coming to make big changes in the way that these institutions go."

He is no more or less popular in the Republican party than when this all started. Remember he was never supposed to be the nominee - just to suck all the air out of the race until the heavy hitters, Walker and Perry, bowed out.
Call me paranoid, but it seems like this is state-sponsored.
An APT attack group used watering hole attacks to taint crypto downloads with malware that had backdoor capabilities and spied on other encrypted data and communications.
Kaspersky Lab revealed an advanced persistent threat (APT) group that is so focused on encrypted data and communications that it has been targeting and tainting crypto downloads. By infecting users before encryption occurred, the attackers could spy on encrypted data.
Although StrongPity, which has managed to evade detection for several years, is technically advanced and stealthy, Kaspersky Lab security researcher Kurt Baumgartner, aka GReAT, also called the group "fairly reckless and innovative."
Like other APT groups, StrongPity has used zero-days, social engineering, spearphishing tactics and modular attack tools, but this summer it honed in on the encryption tools TrueCypt and WinRAR.
Kaspersky Lab noted, "While watering holes and poisoned installers are tactics that have been effectively used by other APT, we have never seen the same focus on cryptographic-enabled software."
For its WinRAR watering hole attacks, StrongPity set up the domain name ralrab[.]com, which is close to the legitimate WinRAR site rarlab.com. It then replaced the download links on popular and legitimate sites with links that redirected users to poisoned WinRAR installers on the group’s closely named domain.
Although the tactics to infect users with trojanized WinRAR versions varied slightly in different countries, those tactics followed the same pattern. Baumgartner explained this one example, "The big blue recommended button (here in French) linked to the malicious installer, while all the other links on the page directed to legitimate software."
The group pulled similar tricks to infect users looking to download TrueCrypt, redirecting visitors from a software aggregation site to the attacker-controlled "ripped and persuasive" site. Kaspersky Lab pointed out, "The StrongPity-controlled Truecrypt site is a complete rip of the legitimate site, now hosted by Sourceforge."
Kaspersky Lab detected six malware droppers used in WinRAR watering hole attacks. The dropper malware was signed with "unusual digital certificates," but the attack group did not re-use its fake digital certificates. The real WinRAR software would be installed as well as malware giving StrongPity backdoor and spying capabilities.
StrongPity APT malware contained keyloggers and data stealers such as for scooping up contacts and communications. Yet as further proof of "the group’s interest in users of more encryption-supported software suites," its malware package was configured to hunt for the following crypto-related software:
• putty.exe (a windows SSH client)
• filezilla.exe (supports FTP uploads)
• winscp.exe (a Windows secure copy application, providing encrypted and secure file transfer)
• mstsc.exe (Windows Remote Desktop client, providing an encrypted connection to remote systems)
• mRemoteNG.exe (a remote connections manager supporting SSH, RDP, and other encrypted protocols)
Over 1,000 systems infected with StrongPity APT malware worldwide
During a little more than one week in the summer, "malware delivered from winrar.it appeared on over 600 systems throughout Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East." Top countries smacked with StrongPity malware were Italy, Belgium and Algeria.
The TrueCrypt watering hole attacks started in late 2015, but StrongPity ramped up its activity in summer to late September 2016. The majority of victims were in Turkey, although some systems in the Netherlands were infected as well.
In total, between the tainted WinRAR and TrueCrypt downloads, there were over 1,000 systems infected with StrongPity malware during the summer of 2016.
The problem is not crypto software; in fact, when TrueCrypt and WinRAR are used together, a "poor man’s end-to-end encryption can be maintained for free." The problem is how the crypto software is being distributed, since all the crypto in the world won’t help if the bad guys can get in to snoop before the encryption occurs.
Baumgartner concluded:
When visiting sites and downloading encryption-enabled software, it has become necessary to verify the validity of the distribution site and the integrity of the downloaded file itself. Download sites not using PGP or strong digital code signing certificates need to re-examine the necessity of doing so for their own customers. We have seen other APT such as Crouching Yeti and Darkhotel distribute poisoned installers and poisoned executable code, then redistribute them through similar tactics and over P2P networks. Hopefully, simpler verification systems than the current batch of PGP and SSL applications will arise to be adopted in larger numbers. Until then, strong anti-malware and dynamic whitelisting solutions will be more necessary than ever.

Yeah, don't download anything, install anything or visit a website with adobe or java that you aren't 100% sure is ok.
Poisoned installers are the original program that has malware bundled with the program.
A watering hole attack takes a site that was previously ok, hacks the code and drops malware into it so when you pull it up it runs either a java, adobe or ASP code that attacks unpatched vulnerabilities and infects your computer.

[PJ] WASHINGTON - Gen. David Petraeus, former CIA director and former commander of U.S. Central Command, said the situation in Afghanistan is "deteriorating" and encouraged the next administration to make an "enduring commitment" to security in the country.
"The situation as we describe is fraught and it is concerning, and the bottom line is we believe the next administration should make an enduring commitment to Afghanistan and our partners there -- that is the real bottom line and, if you will, the headline -- that we should not have to go through the annual reviews to see where you are and how you are going to draw down or what have you, that we should use the assets we have there as effectively as we possibly can to support our Afghan security force counterparts," Petraeus said during a discussion on Afghanistan security last week at the Brookings Institution.
"As many of you know, our air power was restricted for quite some time. We think it warrants further examination to determine how we can indeed help individuals for whom we provided close air support when we were fighting shoulder to shoulder with them and then we did not do that for some period of time until more recently. Those are the kinds of initiatives that should be pursued," he added.
Petraeus said U.S. involvement within Afghanistan, which began after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and surged during President Obama’s first term, is not a blank check and has to be a commitment from both sides.

I've said it before a 100 times. Afghanistan is an ethnic quagmire the Soviets found to their cost. And the USA is merely taking longer to find the same thing.

The only reason to be in Afghanistan is to get the miscreants who perpetrated 9/11, not nation build. OBL is dead, may of his associates are dead. The Taliban are now hired help for the drug lords. AQ has been displaced by ISIL. You don't have to take them all down, just weaken them enough that another predator will do it for you.
You never really wanted to fight war as it was meant to be fought. Something more kinder and gentler instead and you get decades of fighting without resolution.

Karzai ended night raids and air strikes on civilian areas in 2013. The day the Taliban wins and strings Karzai up from the nearest lamp post, the average Afghan is gonna be thinking "what a putz".
[TownHall] Almost every penny left in the grubby hands of federal officials is squandered, wasted, misused or misallocated. Every penny kept from the federal behemoth is private property conserved and saved.
One of Donald Trump's virtues is that he appears smart enough to instinctively know what I just said. It benefits business and everyone else if as much private property remains in private hands, so that it’s put to the best use possible.
I’m talking Trump taxes.
It’s alleged that over two decades, Trump had the good sense to pay almost no taxes by declaring close on a billion dollars in losses, before 1995. This, at least, is my understanding of this particular trumped-up case against the candidate.
At the risk of offending the crass utilitarians who make up the liberal commentariat, I’ll talk natural rights.
It has become anathema to float the outrageous idea that a man owns the proceeds from his labor, completely, and that whatever government takes from him or her amounts to private property stolen.

I don't care about Trump's taxes. What he has done is what we all do--try to keep as much of our hard earned money as we can.
I am more concerned that we get someone in office who is willing to try to save the Republic before it is stolen/destroyed by leftists; otherwise tear it down and start over.

If DJT had not paid taxes due to the Feds, he would have been required to answer to a "Higher Power" regarding. Have seen no evidence of this.
The Buffett ("Progressive") BS about "fair share" derives from Buffett's aggressive use of the tax code (sound familiar?) as well as how he structures his incomes. His squawking about his secretary being in a higher bracket than he could be addressed by either (1) Re-structuring his businesses and how they derive income (riiiiiiiight); or (2) Stapling a contribution check to his 1040 with directions to apply it to the general fund or whatever (ditto). Effing hypocrite.
[Channel NewsAsia] BANGKOK: Police in Thailand on Tuesday said they have increased security at major landmarks in the capital Bangkok, at airports and in surrounding provinces following reports of bomb plots just weeks after deadly attacks rocked the country's south.
An armed group was plotting car bomb attacks in a province near Bangkok, Thailand's national security head said.
"The deputy prime minister instructed security agencies closely track and monitor anything unusual including things used to prepare bombs and cars," Thawip Netniyom, chief of Thailand's National Security Council, told reporters.
"Why target Bangkok? They probably want to make an impact," he said, without giving details on which groups could be behind the plot.
Popular tourist destination Thailand has seen a series of bomb attacks in the country's south over the past few weeks, including a wave of bombs in tourist towns between Aug. 11-12 that killed four Thai people and injured dozens, including foreigners.
Police have linked the attacks to Muslim separatists operating in Thailand's far south. Security chief Thawip said he was not sure whether the planned car bombs and the August attacks were related.
Thailand's tourism industry, which accounts for 10 percent of gross domestic product, has weathered more than a decade of unrest including two military coups and the recent bombings.
Britain's Foreign Office advised travellers to exercise caution following the August bombings.
"You should exercise caution, particularly in public places ... Further incidents are possible in these and other areas of Thailand," the Foreign Office said.
In August 2015, a bomb ripped through a religious shrine in Bangkok killing 20 people, most of them tourists. But the attack failed to dent tourist arrivals to any discernable degree. Two ethnic Uighur Muslims from China are on trial in Thailand accused of carrying out the attack.
Analysts and diplomats suspected the attack was linked to Uighur sympathizers angered by Thailand's deportation of more than 100 Uighurs to China the previous month. Bangkok is currently playing host to a regional meeting attended by some world and business leaders.
Police said they were on high alert. "I have ordered all police under my supervision in the area around Bangkok to monitor news, investigate and gather intelligence on groups who could come in and cause trouble," said Police Lieutenant General Charnthep Sesawet, acting chief of Provincial Police Region 1, which oversees areas around the capital.
[Daily Signal] Rashad Ali once belonged to an Islamic extremist group, but he now spends his days helping the British government prevent others from becoming radicalized.
His position makes him an easy target of criticism, from multiple angles.
"On the one hand, I get criticized from people in the Muslim community who see me as acting on behalf of the state and the authorities, and on the other hand I am criticized by those who are genuinely anti-Islam and see what I am doing--helping British Muslims reconcile their identity--as some kind of secret to plot to spread Islam," Ali says.
As a Muslim growing up in Sheffield, an industrial city that carries what he calls an "anti-establishment" mentality, Ali says, he struggled finding his way. At 15 years old, he decided to join Hizb ut-Tahrir, a nonviolent Islamic political organization.

How about this: When they turn 15-or-so, equip them and send them back to the sandbox to fight for their "country." If they spurn the offer, their entire family is cut off from the Govt. teat. Same rule applies if they go "nasty." And it could be done if the will was there.
[Free Beacon] German authorities arrested a Syrian refugee on Monday who was suspected of plotting a bomb attack on behalf of the Islamic State.
Jaber Albakr, 22, was detained in eastern Germany after a two-day manhunt stemmed from a tip-off that he may be attempting to recruit conspirators.
Authorities found explosives while searching for Albakr on Saturday during a raid on an apartment in Chemnitz, located roughly 160 miles south of Berlin. German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said in a statement the evidence suggested "the preparations in Chemnitz are similar to the preparations for the attacks in Paris and Brussels."
Albakr arrived in Germany last year along with the nearly 900,000 other migrants who poured into the nation in 2015. He was granted asylum in June of last year.
Authorities captured Albakr after three other Syrian migrants recognized him from police photos and tied him up in their apartment. The president of the Saxony state police said Albakr’s behavior suggested he was likely inspired by ISIS.
"Tired but overjoyed: we captured the terror suspect last night in Leipzig," the Saxony police tweeted Monday.
Police arrested a second suspect from Syria at Chemnitz station on Saturday. The federal interior ministry said it was too soon to determine whether Albakr was connected to a larger terrorist network.
[Wash Times] The self-righteous wailing and gnashing of teeth coming from Republican congressmen and other officials is down right pathetic.
So a man, eleven years ago, said some trash talk in a private conversation. Compare that with rape, impeachment, sticking a cigar you know where in the oval office, persecuting women, lying, selling out the United States to the highest bidder, committing national security crimes, committing charity fraud, taking money from people who stone women for being raped and cut gays’ heads off, killing four Americans in a botched gun run to jihadis... the list goes on and on.
A President Hillary Clinton is not an option. She will destroy the country, sell us out to the highest bidder, and further soil the executive branch. Bill will be free to roam the halls looking for the next place to put his cigar. Muslim extremist killers will be welcomed into the American halls of power, more than they already have been. Our borders will become nonexistent. Globalism will continue to decimate our jobs and economy. Regulations will continue to choke the life out of your family’s future.
To all those spineless, gelatinous masses who call themselves conservatives and demanding Trump drop out, I say it’s time to lead, follow or get out of the way.
So we found out Trump is a red-blooded, American male. Today, that is enough to get you shot. The Left’s hero, John F. Kennedy had multiple affairs in the White House and was a womanizer; he still is put on a pedestal.
All you GOP blowhards trashing Trump, I say, grow a pair and fight the real danger to our future, Hillary Clinton.

[AlAhram] Italy says it has expelled a Tunisian man who pledged support to the Islamic State group on his Facebook page and was allegedly planning to go to the Syrian-Iraqi region to fight. Monday's expulsion marked the 122nd person Italy has kicked out since January 2015 on security grounds related to Islamic extremism.
Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said the investigation was conducted alongside French authorities because the Tunisian, who came to Italy in 2003, was in touch with an underage Frenchwoman of Italian origin. Alfano said that French authorities had identified him from his activity on a jihadi chat board, adding that he "clearly intended to reach the Syrian-Iraqi theater."

Around 100 police formed a corridor to enable some 40 puzzled-looking children from Syria and Afghanistan to enter the school at Profitis, a village a few kilometres (miles) north of Thessaloniki.
A similar number of parents -- who had earlier padlocked the school gate -- waved Greek flags and hurled insults at local education authorities.
"Our children will be raped and then, who will take responsibility?" one parent shouted.
"We are told these children have been vaccinated but we don't believe them," another said.
Some 1,500 refugee children attended classes in some 20 schools nationwide Monday, the first day of an education initiative set to include thousands of minors from war-torn regions. [Daily Caller] Material to build a nuclear "dirty bomb" was almost smuggled out of a nuclear power plant four years ago, the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog told reporters Monday.
The director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that an unidentified individual tried to smuggle a small amount of highly enriched uranium about four years ago that could have been used to build a so-called "dirty bomb." The plant was struck by an extremely disruptive cyber-attack, but the IAEA declined to give any further details.
"This is not an imaginary risk," Yukiya Amano, director of the IAEA, told Reuters. "This issue of cyber attacks on nuclear-related facilities or activities should be taken very seriously. We never know if we know everything or if it’s the tip of the iceberg."
This sort of low-quality uranium and plutonium used in nuclear reactors could be used to make low-tech nuclear explosives often called "dirty bombs."A dirty bomb combines radioactive material with conventional explosives that could contaminate the local area with high radiation levels for long periods of time and cause mass panic, though it would be millions of times weaker than an actual nuclear device. The Islamic State (ISIS) has expressed interest in stealing this kind of radioactive material for a dirty bomb.
[Daily Caller] Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton sent an email to her campaign chairman John Podesta in 2014, who was then-counselor to President Barack Obama, that said Saudi Arabia and Qatar are both giving financial and logistical support to the Islamic State and other extremist Sunni groups, according to a recent Wikileaks release.
Clinton sent the email on August 17, 2014 to Podesta. It was an eight-point plan to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Clinton’s email said that the United States should support Kurdish forces on the ground with U.S. military advisers and avoid the use of a conventional ground operation.
"While this military/para-military operation is moving forward, we need to use our diplomatic and more traditional intelligence assets to bring pressure on the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which are providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region," Clinton wrote.
The former secretary of state added: "This effort will be enhanced by the stepped up commitment in the [Kurdish Regional Government]. The Qataris and Saudis will be put in a position of balancing policy between their ongoing competition to dominate the Sunni world and the consequences of serious U.S. pressure."

Further, the KSA is responsible in part for Iran's belligerency (the Iraq invasion...), Iran's pursuit of nuclear arms since the KSA supported Pakistan's nuclear program, and for our fight in Gulf War I to protect them against the alligator to the north that they created, and most likely contributed to the Bush mis-step on Gulf War II. An Israeli minister is set to visit Turkey on Oct. 13, the first ministerial level meeting since relations came to a halt in 2010 after Israel’s deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. Israeli Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz is expected to visit Turkey on Oct. 13, the Israeli Embassy in Ankara said in a written statement on Oct. 10.
“Minister Steinitz will meet his Turkish counterpart Mr. Berat Albayrak in Istanbul in order to discuss energy cooperation between the two countries,” the statement read, adding that the two would meet on the sidelines of the 23rd World Energy Congress, during which Steinitz is scheduled to deliver the opening remarks for the Atlantic Council panel titled “A New Landscape in the Eastern Mediterranean.”
Albayrak and Steinitz are expected to hold a joint press conference after their meeting in Istanbul, the embassy said.

Russia intends to establish a permanent naval base on the site of an existing facility it leases at the Syrian port of Tartus, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Pankov said on Oct. 10, Russian news agencies reported.
Pankov’s statement is the latest sign that Moscow wants to expand its military footprint in Syria where it has been helping Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fight rebels since 2015. Moscow last week deployed S-300 surface-to air missiles to Tartus.
“We will have a permanent naval base at Tartus,” Pankov told Russian senators, according to Reuters. “The necessary documents are already prepared and are in the process of being approved by different agencies. We hope we can ask you to ratify these documents soon.”
Senator Igor Morozov told the RIA news agency that the decision would allow Russia to operate more ships in the Mediterranean as they would have an enhanced facility at which they could refuel and resupply.
“By doing this Russia is not only increasing its military potential in Syria but in the entire Middle East and in the Mediterranean region as a whole,” said Morozov.
Russia already has a permanent air base at Hmeymim in Syria’s Latakia province from which it launches air strikes against anti-Assad rebels. Moscow inherited a Soviet-era naval facility at Tartus when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the Russian navy’s sole foothold in the Mediterranean. Despite some modernization, it is currently fairly modest and unable to accommodate larger warships.
Last week, three Russian warships passed Turkey’s Bosphorus and Dardanelles in order to reach the Mediterranean. The Russian warship Mirage on Oct. 7 passed through Istanbul’s Bosphorus strait, while Russian warships Zeleny Dol and Serpukhov traversed the Dardanelles just two days prior to that.

Not the best of news. On the other hand, not the worst either.
[Al Arabiya] Saudi Arabia has intercepted two ballistic missiles fired by Houthi militias from Yemen, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The Saudi military said early on Monday that it stopped one missile fired toward Marib in Yemen and a second targeting the Saudi city of Taif.
Saudi state television aired a brief clip of what appeared to be a projectile landing in Taif and the flash of an explosion, following by images of emergency vehicles. The military said the missiles caused no damage.
A Saudi-led Arab coalition has been battling Shiite Houthi militias in Yemen since March 2015.
Houthi militias, as well as their allies are known to have a stockpile of Soviet-era Scud missiles and locally designed variants.
[Saudi Gazette] A “military projectile” fired from the Yemeni side of the border hit a house in Saudi Arabia’s Jazan province on Sunday, wounding a 14-year-old boy.
The house belonged to a Yemeni resident and the wounded boy was his son, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting Civil Defense spokesman Maj. Yahya Bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani. It said the boy was rushed to hospital.
Al-Qahtani said the Civil Defense was notified of the incident at 9.30 a.m. Sunday. The force immediately undertook necessary procedures followed in such cases.

A man was at the weekend burnt alive over allegations of practicing witchcraft in Opiro village in Moyo Sub-county. Oo ee. The dear departed, Francis Dramari, 57, a butcher in Moyo town was burnt alive in his grass thatched house. Oo ah ah.
Mr Ingenious Dragudu, the acting District Police Commander, told Daily Monitor that three people have been tossed in the clink. Ting tang.
"We have arrested three people in connection to the killing and there should be no compromise on this because it is a barbaric act that should be condemned and should not continue in society," he said. Walla walla.
According to the DPC, adducing evidence on witchcraft has always been difficult in court cases and that people should avoid acting on rumours. Bing. Bang.
An eye witness who did not want to be named for fear of reprisal from the community, said: "Some of us never wanted the man to be burnt but the angry mob overpowered us, locked him (Dramari) inside the house and set it ablaze. By the time the police arrived, it was too late because the man had been burnt already." If he'd been a real witch doctor he'da turned 'em all into weasels.
The three suspects were picked from the bush hiding.

A time-honored practice
Security forces who are fighting the Taliban in Kunduz have said that insurgents are hiding out in residential homes which is slowing down their military campaign.
Reports have also emerged that the Taliban is using civilians as human shields.
But despite these challenges, security forces on Monday managed to recapture some parts of Kunduz city from the militants including Naw Abad, Khawja Mashhad and Cinema Square. Video report at the link
[Guardian] NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s continuing protest of the national anthem is "dumb and disrespectful", the supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said in an interview released on Monday.
In a wide-spanning interview with Yahoo News’s Katie Couric on Ginsburg’s new book My Own Words, Ginsburg said she thought that while Kaepernick’s protest was legal, it was "a terrible thing to do".
"What do I think? I think it’s really dumb of them," Ginsburg said. "Would I arrest them for doing it? No. I think it’s dumb and disrespectful. I would have the same answer if you asked me about flag burning. I think it’s a terrible thing to do, but I wouldn’t lock a person up for doing it. I would point out how ridiculous it seems to me to do such an act."
Ginsburg went to some lengths to say that the protest was legal but that she disagreed with their stance. Cont’d.

She sort of missed the end of the Age of Reason and the beginning of the Age of Feelings, which she actually helped come into place. Dear Ruth, there is no wiggle room in the 14th Amendment to allow suspension of 'equal before the law' on basis of color to make up for 'feelings'.
A bit of around-robin-hood's barn reasoning by the Moslem interpreters of his words.
[Siasat] Theodore McCarrick, served as Archbishop of Washington, D.C from 2001 to 2006, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 2001. Apparently he's not a Catholic anymore...
In Catholic theology, to be a prophet, to earn that title, one must be divinely inspired. Therefore...
In a press conference in D.C, Catholic Cardinal Theodore McCarrick offered Islamic religious phrases and insisted that Islam shares foundational rules with Christianity, on Sept. 10 In a meeting organised by the Muslim Public Affairs Council, McCarrick introduced himself after followed by the words: “In the name of God, the Merciful and Compassionate”
McCarrick further compared that the above mentioned verses which are the important phrases in Islam, and are found more than 100 times in the Koran, are also similar to the Catholic prayer i.e “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
“Catholic social teaching is based on the dignity of the human person… [and] as you study the holy Koran, as you study Islam, basically, this is what Muhammad the prophet, peace be upon him, has been teaching.” McCarrick further claimed.
McCarrick is one of the 213 Cardinals of the Catholic church, but is too old to vote in church debates. Welcome to your dotage, you old sack.

Theodore McCarrick was born in 1930. He might have compared the '..God the Merciful and Compassionate..' to the more extensive phrase in Ex 34:6-7 but perhaps he doesn't remember that so well anymore.

As I suspected, he is Jesuit trained. Catholic Cardinal? He sounds more like the Archbishop of Canterbury.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum ...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier... is expected to launch a major clearance operation in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan as the Taliban group launched a coordinated attack on the strategic Kunduz city last week.
Gen. Dostum made the announcement regarding the launch of the major operation on Sunday night, emphasizing that there are still security gaps available in the ongoing operations in Kunduz.
He said the operations will be launched soon after he will visit the provnce together with the Minister of Interior and deputy intelligence chief.
The First Vice President has supervised numerous military operations in some northern provinces including Jawzjan and Faryab provinces.
He escaped numerous attacks and liquidation plot as he was accompanying the Afghan cops during the operations in northern parts of the country.
Gen. Dostum charge of the security operations in Kunduz last week through the Ministry of Defense Command and Control Center, shortly after the Taliban launched a coordinated attack on Kunduz city.

[Dhaka Tribune] People of Hurricane Matthew-damaged Haiti have urged all not to send any donation for them through the American Red Thingy (ARC).
Death toll in the hurricane crossed 900; besides reports of deadly cholera outbreaks have begun to surface forcing Haitians to seek help from other nations.
Government officials estimate at least 350,000 people needed assistance after the devastating storm. Yet accompanying many requests for aid comes a warning ‐ do not give your money to the ARC.
Despite collecting nearly half a billion dollars to provide relief after the 2010 Haiti earthquake and pledging to build 700 permanent homes, the ARC has been accused of building only six.
"In the coming days, many of you are going to write and ask me how you can ’help Haiti’," one woman said on Twitter after the hurricane, "Do not give to the American Red Thingy."
She asked people to give instead to Haitian organizations and requested people not send goods that could be sourced locally.
The joint investigation by ProPublica and NPR found rampant mismanagement at the heart of the ARC and charged it with consistent misrepresentation of the success of its projects, particularly in housing, reports the Guardian.
The group has also been implored to hire more Haitians in its highest ranks.
Responding to the report, the American Red Thingy said in a statement it was "disappointed, once again, by the lack of balance, context and accuracy in the most recent reporting by ProPublica and NPR".
The allegations against the ARC came amid complaints against the failure of the entire international community to manage the 2010 Haitian disaster.
After the earthquake, close to £9bn was pledged to help the country in its recovery.
Yet critics argue that the money was not used so Haiti could be "built back better", as officials had promised.
Instead, an estimated 55,000 Haitians are still living in tents or other makeshift shelters and few advances in disaster planning have been implemented.
Following Hurricane Matthew, in Grand Anse alone there were 66,000 houses destroyed and a further 20,000 badly damaged, according to Unicef.
Government officials estimate that at least 350,000 people needed assistance, and concern was growing over an increase in cholera cases following widespread flooding unleashed by the deadly storm.
An ongoing cholera outbreak has already killed some 10,000 people and more than 800,000 have been made ill since 2010, when the infectious disease was introduced into the country’s biggest river from a UN base.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist civil war taking place inside the Idlib Governorate has intensified recently after Jund al-Aqsa (Syrian al-Qaeda franchise) pledged allegiance to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham ...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant... Following Jund al-Aqsa's pledge, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham joined their allies against Harakat Ahrar al-Sham ...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014... inside the town of Tahtaya near the large city of Ma'arat al-Nu'man.
According to Jund al-Aqsa's social media wing, their forces, alongside Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, stormed Harakat Ahrar al-Sham's base at Tahtaya, resulting in a long battle on Monday.
Despite the ongoing battle at Tahtaya, Harakat Ahrar al-Sham has vowed to not to retaliate against their main jihadist ally, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, in the Idlib Governorate.

Russia has been down this road before in Chechnya
[ARA News] The International Criminal Court has to investigate possible war crimes committed by Russia and the Assad regime in Syria’s Aleppo, French officials said on Monday.
“We do not agree with what Russia is doing, bombarding Aleppo. France is committed as never before to saving the population of Aleppo,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit Paris on 19 October. However, according to reports the French President Francois Hollande has not decided yet whether to meet his Russian counterpart.
According to Ayrault, Hollande will take into account the ongoing bombardment of Aleppo if he meets Putin in Paris.
“If the president decides [to meet Putin], this will not be to trade pleasantries,” minister Ayrault told France’s Inter radio on Monday.
Aleppo Under Fire
The French call comes amid intensifying Russian and Syrian airstrikes on eastern Aleppo. Hundreds of civilians have been killed over the past few weeks. The exact number of fatalities is difficult to establish as many bodies remain buried under rubble.
The infrastructure which supports Aleppo’s civilian population has also been critically damaged and in some cases utterly destroyed. Local activists reported that while the Russian and Syrian governments claim to target extremists, “airstrikes in Aleppo destroy homes, hospitals and schools.”
The Russian Ambassador to the UK, Alexander Yakovenko, confirmed that the Syrian and Russian governments intentionally bomb hospitals. “Most hospitals are unmarked rebel field facilities. Keeping civilians as a human shield is a well-known terrorist tactic,” Ambassador Yakovenko said.
Russian war planes also bombed a major pharmaceutical company in Aleppo. According to local sources, a building belonging to the ElSaad Pharmaceutical Company was hit with six rockets on Wednesday. “The building was destroyed completely, leaving the city with an acute shortage of medicine,” human rights activist Zakariya Hamdo told ARA News.
Syrian and Russian jets have resumed their bombing of rebel-held districts, reinforcing Shia militias and the Syrian Army as they lay siege to eastern Aleppo. Violence has intensified in Aleppo since a Russian-American ceasefire deal broke down last month.
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels launched a major offensive in the northern countryside of Latakia on Monday night, targeting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) held villages at the northern slopes of Jabal al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains).
Led by Jabhat Fateh al-Sham ...formerly al-Nusra, the current false nose and mustache of al-Qaeda in the Levant... (formerly al-Nusra ...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ... Front), the jihadist rebels stormed the Syrian Arab Army's defenses at Tal al-Malk, Tal Rasha, and Nahshaba; this would result in a fierce battle that would last for several hours tonight.
According to a military source in northern Latakia, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham and their allies managed to capture al-Malk Hill, Nahshaba, and Rasha Hill early on; however, the Syrian Armed Forces have since reclaimed Rasha Hill.
The military source in northern Latakia added that the Syrian Armed Forces are currently counter-attacking the jihadist rebels at Nahshaba after forestalling their advance.

[Manila Bulletin] Philippine president Duterte is willing to grant concessions, including awarding of public lands, to communist insurgents and Muslim rebels as part of the peace negotiations. Duterte said, "We can only talk and if you are able to convince the communists, they would require a huge amount, resources. They will not go into a surrendering mode by just simply dropping the guns. They would ask for concessions. Concessions would be land, which is very good. I agree with them, I can open up the whole, the entire Republic of the Philippines, all public lands ibigay ko, tutal hindi naman nagagamit, especially for food."
The Philippine president said he would be happy, not only giving such land, but also funds amounting to "another billions of pesos" to the insurgents in talks with the government. Duterte admitted there would be a "huge expenditure" to develop the Muslim territory since "they have lost that initiative for all of these years, they’ve been fighting for their land."
In an unprecedented move, the Philippine government has declared a ceasefire with communist insurgents, released several political prisoners, and tapped some left-leaning activists to the Cabinet. Meanwhile, the Duterte said he would hold a meeting with MNLF founding leader, Nur Misuari, this week to advance the peace process in Mindanao. Law enforcers have been ordered not to arrest Misuari, who has long been wanted for the deadly Zamboanga siege in 2013.
Duterte said, "That's my order to the police and the military. Why? I am not a war-type president. My job is to seek peace for my land. So you have to talk to everybody."
The Philippine president said he leaves it to leaders of different MNLF factions – Misuari, Muslimin Sema, and Abul Khayr Alonto, who is chair of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) – on how to "fix internal dynamics" but he said the three of them are willing to talk again.
Duterte also reiterated the need to address the fighting in Mindanao stemming from the historical injustices committed by American and Spanish colonizers against the Moro people.

Duterte also reiterated the need to address the fighting in Mindanao stemming from the historical injustices committed by American and Spanish colonizers against the Moro people.
He must be referring to the suppression of the long history of piracy and slaving of the Moro people.

And I bet with druggies, there is some intersection with the commies/muzz.
Duterte has impressed me (don't necessarily agree and I am not there so I have no opinion as if this is the best option), so I'm taking a wait and see.

The early-morning attack began with a car bombing in an attempt to break through the security belt, a security source and local residents told AFP.
“They seized a check post for an hour before they were pushed back by Afghan special forces,” said a local elder, Maulawi Hanafi.

BEIRUT, Lebanon: Syrian government forces Sunday kept up their blistering assault on rebel-held eastern Aleppo after a divided UN Security Council failed to agree on a truce to “save” the war-battered city.
Regime forces and their allies were advancing street by street in the eastern sector which has been out of government hands since 2012.
“Clashes on the ground as well as fierce air strikes went on all night and are continuing Sunday, especially in the Sheikh Said district” of eastern Aleppo, said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
It said regime forces took control of the Jandul crossroads in the northeast of the city.
The latest advances aim to clear the way for “a crucial and decisive land offensive,” said the Damascus daily Al-Watan which is close to the government.
The army launched its assault on the besieged sector of Aleppo more than two weeks ago with the backing of Russian air strikes, aiming to reunite the city which was Syria’s economic hub before its conflict erupted in 2011.
According to the Observatory, air strikes by the regime and its Russian ally have claimed 273 lives, mostly civilians and including 53 children, since the September 22 launch of operations to reunite the government-held west and the east of Aleppo.
Another 17 civilians have died in artillery bombardment of eastern districts, says the Britain-based monitoring group.
The Observatory, which compiles its information from sources on the ground, said 50 civilians, including nine children, have also died in rebel bombardment of regime-controlled western districts.

[ARA News] Aleppo – At least ten civilians were killed and others wounded after the Turkish army and allied rebels bombed the countryside of Azaz in Syria’s northern Aleppo Governorate, activists and eyewitnesses reported on Monday.
The Turkish army and rebel fighters of the Euphrates Shield hit the town of Dwebik in Azaz District with heavy artillery.
The targeted town and other areas in Azaz District are held by the Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants.
Turkey’s military said in a statement that its forces supported the Euphrates Shield rebels in bombing ISIS headquarters in the area. However, local sources said that most of the casualties were civilians.
“The Turkish shelling hit a populated neighbourhood in Dwebik, killing 11 civilians and injuring 15 others,” local media activist Alwan al-Halabi told ARA News.
The bombardment also caused a mass destruction to residential buildings in the town.
“Local rescue teams are still searching for victims under the ruble,” Dr Hassan Othman, a member of the medical team in Dwebik, told ARA News.
“Some of the injured who have been pulled from under the ruins were seriously injured. We appeal to the United Nations and NGOs to provide assistance. A medical support is urgently needed,” Dr Othman said.
Ahmed Arraj, a member of the Syrian Democratic Coalition in Afrin, told ARA News that Turkey and allied Islamist groups have been “purposively bombing civilians”.
“We all know that Turkey has a broad network of informers in the region, especially in ISIS-held areas. Thus, it’s not possible that they haven’t known about the presence of dozens of civilians in the targeted neighbourhood. There have been no injuries in ISIS’ ranks. All casualties were civilians,” Arraj said.

He admitted that the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) were supposed to take necessary actions to prevent the coordinated Taliban attack which they did not take.
"We apologize from the people of Kunduz and all of us should apologize since we have not done what we were supposed to do prevent the incident. The work was not done on time and today we are in the final stages of the fight," Stanikzai said.

[Libya Observer] Sudan’s Justice and Equality Movement is fighting alongside Khalifa Haftar ... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... ’s Dignity Operation, a senior commander from the rebel group has officially admitted.
Brigadier Ibrahim al-Bagdadi, chief of armament in the Justice and Equality Movement told Sudan’s Blue Nile TV that their forces are now fighting for Khalifa Haftar after months of fighting for former Qadaffy brigades during the 2011 uprising.
"We took part in several festivities in 2011 and we had lost many fighters," he said.
Al-Bagdadi revealed that their commander Tahir Arja is now in Libya leading gangs alongside Haftar’s forces at the request of Mahmoud Jibreel, Chairman of National Forces Alliance.
"It’s business," he said.
Last month, Dignity Operation militias occupied Brega, Zuwetina, Sidra and Ras Lanouf oil terminals in central Libya with the help of Sudanese and Chadian mercenaries.

Mahmood Jibril served in the Qadafi regime as head of the National Planning Council of Libya and of the National Economic Development Board of Libya. Qadafi's son, Saif al-Islam was his close friend, and as his father grew old and tired Saif chose Jibril to lead a nascent move to broaden Libya's political and economkic base. Had Hillary Clinton not interfered with the course of Libyan history, the political movement emerging today would have already become a fait accompli.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Saudi special forces along with the Arab coalition carried out a military operation in Yemen’s mountain tops to combat Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... militias near the Saudi border, Al Arabiya correspondent reported on Monday.
Sources said that the assassinations on the mountain tops resulted in the death of at least 50 Houthi militias, and destroyed several of their artillery store of ammunition and weapons.
A Saudi-led Arab coalition has been battling Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic... since March 2015.
Houthi forces fire missiles or mortars almost daily into the southern Saudi border areas including Najran, and often test Saudi defenses with guerrilla-style incursions.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] ISIS on Monday confirmed the death of its propaganda chief, whom the Pentagon said was killed in a US-led air strike in Syria’s Raqqa province last month.
An statement posted online by the bully boy group paid tribute to Wa’il Adil Hasan Salman al-Fayad, also known as Abu Mohammed al-Furqan. The statement just referred to him by his alias.
It did not say when, where or how he had died.
The Pentagon said last month that a US-led coalition air strike on Sept. 7 had killed al-Fayad.
It said he was minister of information, overseeing ISIS propaganda, and a prominent member of its Senior Shura Council, or leadership group.
ISIS’s statement referred to al-Fayad as head of its media arm.
The air strike took place near Raqqa, ISIS de facto capital in northern Syria, and targeted al-Fayad while he was on a cycle of violence outside his house, the Pentagon said.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Yemen’s wise statesman Dr Abd al-Karim al-Iryani passed away in November 2015. He was a symbol of the General People’s Congress to which former President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh ... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it... belongs. He was completely different from Saleh though and so were his policies and behavior. He tended to be in favor of legitimacy and in support of the Operation Decisive Storm, though in his own polite manner.
His funeral proceedings were held in the same hall, which was targeted by Death Eaters two days ago. Saleh, his men and his family members attended this reception in the presence of a large gathering. At the time, the Saudi-led coalition airplanes dominated Sanaa airspace and continue to do so. Saleh attended the funeral and offered his condolences. He stayed for a long time and was unharmed.

Someone mentioned that Iran may not be bought.
They never could be
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Al Sumaria News reported on Sunday, that the Islamic State group (ISIS) decided to decrease Islamic ‘Salah’ (Obligatory Muslim ritual prayers) from five to three times per day, and threatened to flog anyone who violate the group’s terms and instructions.
The media outlet stated, “The ISIS issued a decree in Nineveh to lessen Muslim ritual prayers from five to three times per day, due to what it called a state of war, so prayers might be shortened or combined, and then informed all preachers and Imams to abide by this decree that covers all ISIS-controlled areas in Nineveh.”
“The ISIS threatened to flog the violators of the decree with 30 lashes,” Al Sumaria News added. “The terror group is issuing weird and unreasonable decrees due to its vulnerable state,” Al sumaria explained.
“This decree is considered the second of its type; ISIS issued a decree earlier to change Adhan time (call to prayer) because it considered these times as set by the government and do not represent Muslim countries,” Al Sumaria News stated.
Salah is one of the five pillars of Islam, and an obligatory religious duty and worship for every Muslim that is observed five times every day at prescribed times.
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Iraqi media outlets reported on Monday that the Islamic State prohibited Iraqi Dinar currency from Mosul in order compel its people to adopt ISIS currency.
Al Sumaria News stated, “ISIS confiscated large quantities of the Iraqi Dinar currency from the people of Mosul, forcing them to exchange it with ISIS currency. ISIS gave the residents receipts with the amounts taken from them.”
“The so-called ISIS Sharia Court issued a fatwa prohibiting the Iraqi Dinar currency in markets in the city of Mosul,” Al Sumaria added.
The coffers of ISIS were adversely affected after Iraqi security forces liberated many areas and cities in Iraq.
[ARA News] Duhok – The Islamic State (ISIS) radical group has executed a number of its own militants on Monday for fleeing the battlefield in Iraq’s Anbar Governorate.
ISIS has executed at least five of its militant fighters In the Hīt city of Anbar, after accusing them of committing “high treason” for evacuating their positions during clashes with Iraqi army forces.
Raafat al-Zarari, head of the Nineveh media centre, told ARA News that the executed fighters had fled the battlefield in the western suburb of Ramadi.
“The militants were executed by firing squad at the hands of their fellow fighters,” al-Zarari reported. “The decision has been made by the ISIS leadership, and anyone violating the orders is being executed on charges of high treason.”
Dozens of ISIS members were demanded to witness the executions on Monday.
“More than 150 people watched the public executions, most of them were ISIS fighters and military leaders, as if the group wanted to warn its members that anyone who would escape the fighting would face a similar punishment,” Iraqi journalist Adeeb al-Jadi told ARA News.
Last Thursday, the Islamic State (ISIS) executed two other militants on charges of “high treason.” Activists and eyewitnesses reported that the executions took place on Thursday in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor city.
ISIS detained two members of its Islamic Police, also known as Diwan al-Hisba, after they left their post without permission. Firas al-Ahmed, a local media activist, told ARA News: “They tried to escape Deir ez-Zor, but the group was able to arrest them near the southern exit of the city.”
An ISIS-controlled Sharia court decided to execute them. “The two Hisba members were executed by firing squad in the Sabha District,” al-Ahmed reported. He added that hundreds of people witnessed the execution.
In July, ISIS executed six of its own militants on charges of “treason,” after accusing them of leaking security information to the US-led coalition. Local sources told ARA News at the time that the executed men were members of the al-Hisba police in the city of Mosul, in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh Governorate.
Abdullah al-Malla, a media activist, told ARA News in Mosul: “The ISIS leadership suspected that the al-Hisba members were leaking confidential information to the western coalition–whose airstrikes have recently killed top jihadi officials.”
“After interrogation, the Mosul Sharia Court issued a decision to publicly execute the six suspects,” al-Malla reported. “The six jihadists were beheaded in front of dozens of ISIS officials in central Mosul.”

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The new supreme leader of the Afghan Taliban Mawlavi Haibatullah Akhundzada ...Deputy to Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour... was openly teaching and preaching in a mosque in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... province of Pakistain before he was appointed to succeed Mullah Akhtar Mansoor who was killed in US drone strike in Pakistain.
The mosque, Al Haaj mosque, where Mawlavi Akhundzada was teaching and preaching is located in Kuchlak, near the city of Quetta, the associates and students of Akhundzada told Rooters.
According to Rooters, the latest disclosures regarding Akhundzada could put further pressure on Pakistain to do more to crack down on turbans openly living there.
Akhundzada was appointed the supreme leader of the Taliban group in May, days after Mullah Mansoor was targeted in a US drone strike in the vicinity of Balochistan province of Afghanistan.
He is believed to be hiding after taking charge of the group with his associates and students saying "Once he became Emir, he left with his whole family."
Hafiz Abdul Majeed, who runs the Al Haaj mosque, told Rooters that he himself studied for several years under Akhundzada.
"You can’t teach religion and run (the Taliban’s) government at the same time. And it would of course have been dangerous for us and the students and the mosque if he remained here," he added.
This comes as the Afghan officials have long been criticizing Pakistain for remaining reckless to act against the leadership councils of the Taliban and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network based in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. [Hurriyet] The government is drafting a package of comprehensive changes in the criminal procedures act and the penal code in order to make the show trials of July 15 coup plotters more efficient, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ has told reporters.
“The show trials will take place in cities where the coup attempt crimes were committed. They will be held in many cities and districts. These show trials will not be merged as this will only complicate the proceedings and turn them into a mess,” Bozdağ said on Oct. 9.
The first July 15 coup attempt show trial has already started in Denizli, he stated, adding that although the main show trials will take place in Ankara and Istanbul, other legs of the case will take place in different cities under separate indictments.
“If we were to merge all of these show trials, we would never be able to conclude the case and come to a verdict,” Bozdağ said.
“A total of 34,063 people are currently detained either on charges of attempting to stage the coup or being a member of a terrorist organization. Legal procedures have been imposed against more than 76,000 people so far,” Bozdağ said.
While investigations into the coup attempt are ongoing, the government is set to make changes to a number of key articles of the Penal Code and Criminal Procedures Act, in an attempt to streamline the show trial process. These changes include the following:
Laundering of assets acquired as a result of an offense will be moved from the Penal Code to Anti-Terror Law. As a result, those who commit this crime will receive a bigger punishment.
Military personnel charged with terror crimes, or with attempting to stage a coup, will be imprisoned in civilian jails instead of military prisons. Military personnel will be handed to the judicial police and not to the military police after being caught.
With a change in the criminal procedures act, show trials will be able to be held in different locations within the boundaries of a certain jurisdiction.
Courts will be able to assess the release appeals of those detained on terror accusations over the course of 15 days, instead of the current three days.
If the court demands an additional testimony from the suspect, this will be able to be carried out by the police and not necessarily by the court.
Judges will have the right to reject the defense’s demand to hear additional witnesses if they believe that this is simply an attempt to prolong the proceedings.
Instead of reading the entire indictment at the beginning of trail process, prosecutors will be able to read a summary of the indictment.
Justice Minister Bozdağ said the government would likely submit the draft package to parliament this week.
“We are keen to have the package discussed at the sub-committees. We will welcome the opposition’s contribution to the package and we are ready to listen if they suggest changes,” he added.

[Bangkok Post] An assistant village leader tasked with "peace-making" was killed by gunmen as he returned to his home in Yala province on Sunday night. Montree Wichitwechakarn, deputy chief investigator of Yaha district, said the man was attacked in tambon Baro.
When Usman Tosamae arrived back home on a motorcycle after completing night duty, four armed men on two motorcycles arrived behind him and unleashed a hail of gunfire at him. Usman fell dead on the spot. The assailants fled into the night after the attack. About 50 spent bullet cartridges were found at the scene.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Syrian man wanted for allegedly preparing a bombing attack was apprehended by three of his countrymen, who overpowered him, tied him up in their apartment, and then alerted police, authorities said Monday.
The overnight arrest of Jaber Albakr ended a nearly two-day nationwide search for the 22-year-old that German authorities launched after finding several pounds of explosives and components hidden inside an apartment in the eastern city of Chemnitz on Saturday.
Albakr arrived in Germany amid a flood of 890,000 asylum seekers last year. Saxony criminal police chief Joerg Michaelis said that the three Syrians who captured him recognized the suspect from wanted posters police posted online as part of the manhunt.
After taking him to their apartment late Sunday night, two of the Syrians bound and held Albakr while the third brought a mobile phone photo of Albakr to a local cop shoppe, leading to the arrest early Monday, Michaelis said.
Prosecutors and police said Monday that they considered Albakr an myrmidon with likely links to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group. Germany's domestic intelligence agency had been watching him since September and alerted Saxony authorities about his alleged possible plot on Friday, authorities said.
When police raided the apartment in the city of Chemnitz where he was thought to be staying on Saturday, Albakr was able to flee. Inside the apartment they found 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) of "extremely dangerous explosives" and components, according to federal prosecutors.
Criminal police chief Michaelis said that, at this stage of the investigation, "the behavior and actions of the suspect currently speak for an IS context." He didn't elaborate.
A security official said there was no indication yet that Albakr was being directed by the Islamic State group, but that Sherlocks still were combing through seized evidence. The official wasn't authorized to discuss the investigation publicly and so spoke on condition of anonymity.
New information starts here:
Police said it was not clear when and how the suspect met up with his three countrymen in Leipzig, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Chemnitz, or if they already knew him.
They would not release any further information about the three Syrians who apprehended Albakr. If the signs of his having an myrmidon background were substantiated, "the people who gave the tip are of course in danger," the police chief said.
Federal prosecutors, who handle terrorism investigations in Germany, said in a statement Monday they currently have no indications that a target already had been chosen for an attack.
A 33-year-old Syrian at whose Chemnitz apartment police found the hidden explosives was locked away Please don't kill me! over the weekend and is considered a co-conspirator in the alleged bomb plot, prosecutors said.
He was identified only as Khalil A. in keeping with German privacy laws. Albakr's full identity and photograph had been released while he was on the run and being sought.
The explosives were described as similar to the ones used in the deadly Nov. 13 attacks in Gay Paree and the March 22 attacks in Brussels. Known as TATP, or triacetone triperoxide, it is fairly easy to make and detonate, police said.
"According to everything we know today, the preparations in Chemnitz are similar to the preparations for the attacks in Gay Paree and Brussels," German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said.
[DeutscheWelle] The 22-year old Jaber A., who was placed in durance vile You have the right to remain silent... in Leipzig on Sunday night, apparently intended to bomb an airport in the name of the so-called "Islamic State" (IS) terrorist group, the head of German domestic intelligence said.
"We received intelligence that he initially planned to attack trains in Germany." Hans-Georg Maaßen told the German public broadcaster ARD on Monday. "Later, the plans became more specific and directed at airports in Berlin."
The police were tracking Jaber A. and decided to raid his Chemnitz apartment on Friday, when the suspect was seen buying glue in a one-euro-store.
"We have assumed that this might be the last chemical ingredient he needed to make a bomb," Maaßen said.
In the apartment, the police found a highly violatile substance, likely identical with the explosives used by 'IS' for attacks in Gay Paree and Brussels. The explosives were "almost ready, or even ready for use", state police chief Joerg Michaelis said at a Dresden presser.
"From everything we know today, the preparations in Chemnitz are similar to the preparations for the attacks in Gay Paree and Brussels," German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said.
According to the Bild newspaper, Jaber A. had met with three other Syrians while looking for urgent accommodation in Leipzig, after fleeing the police in Chemnitz. His new roommates eventually recognized him and managed to constrain him in their apartment.
Jaber A. had tried to bribe his captors, one of the Syrians who overpowered him told the German RTL broadcaster.
"We told him: You can give us as much as you like, but we are not letting you go," Mohammed A. told the TV station.
The Syrians tried calling the police, but the officials could not understand them. This prompted Mohammed to go to the station and lead the authorities to the suspect.
"I was so angry at him. I won't accept such a thing ‐ especially here in Germany, the country that opened its door to us," he added.
Political fallout
The Christian Social Union (CSU), the Bavarian wing of Merkel's center-right government coalition, said that Germany's Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) needed to introduce a "total revision" of the registration of asylum seekers.
CSU General Secretary Andreas Scheuer said the BAMF needed to conduct individual interviews with all refugees, "because we must know who is coming to us, and who is staying with us."
In fact, a BAMF spokeswoman told DW that although individual interviews had been replaced with multiple-choice questionnaires during the height of the bureaucratic crisis caused by last year's influx of refugees, the authority currently carries out interviews with anyone applying for asylum in Germany. Even during the crisis, she added, individual interviews were carried out in all cases where a refugee's identity could not be established.
The BAMF said on Monday that it would report all forged passports directly to the police in the future. Up until now, it had merely reported the matter to the relevant regional authority.

Full title: The Priestly Caste of the Conservative Right Gets to Be Outraged That Heterosexual Men Find the Female Form Pleasing, and Sometimes Make Jokes About it
As I'm sure you're all aware, it's been 48 hours since the Huge News that Donald Trump said a woman had nice legs, and was "hot," and then made what was clearly a joke -- "I can kiss any woman I like. It's incredible. You can do whatever you want when you're star. You can even grab their pussy."
Rather than taking this as what it obviously was -- a hyperbolic joke which relies on exaggerating the truth to the nth degree for a laugh -- the Aspergers Right has chosen to take it literally, that Trump is really out there grabbing on women's mishes.
My vocabulary has seriously expanded since I started hanging out at Rantburg.
First time I have heard the term my own self.
I haven't been in a locker room for a long, long time...
Dry, wandering eye, twitchy mish? I blame Sjogren's Syndrome
Gee, I hope the Aspergers/Low T right has never read this site when we talk about hot woman. You know, when we make all sorts of Rape Threats and Assault Threats like --
I'd bang that like a screen door during a hurricane.
I'd hit that so hard that whoever pulled my dick out her mish would be crowned king of England.
I'd hit that so hard that I'd succeed in doing what no physicist has ever accomplished -- splitting the vagina atom.
That last gem from Empire of Jeff.
Gee, does the Aspergers Crew at National Review think that Ace of Spades readers are actually burying themselves like Excalibur in she-stones, or hittin' that shit so deep that new subatomic particles are birthed?
I don't even think you can actually split the Vagina Atom without use of an electron boring scanner -- maybe National Review should report Empire of Jeff for threatening to use a laser on some poor woman's womb.
So get ready to hear the Social Justice Warriors of the Aspergers Right go fucking bananas tonight.
As usual. As they've been doing now for a full year.
But it's not getting tedious having to listen to these shrieking unhinged she-men hissing and fainting all over themselves yet again.
Nope, not tedious at all. The stream of fainting-couch hysteria babbling out of their shrieky mouths is just so much background music for the rest of us by now.

It's only the pajama boys and girls who get outraged by locker-room talk. ISIS is murdering people en masse, beheadings, drownings, burnings, evisceratings and wholesale rape of women. These faint heart hot house flowers need to get a sense of proportion and also grow a set. They also need to consider the criminality of the Clinton empire and do something about it. If you ignore your responsibilities and put it on the American people to clean up your messes, you will not like the outcome.
#6
Conservatives are the whipping boy of this election. Buy why? We aren't the establishment. We hate the establishment. We aren't prudes - that's the religious right. Is there some overlap? Always, but seriously, the only redeeming feature of the Republican Party is that's where conservatives gather. We aren't what's wrong with the party. We are its still beating heart. No politician falsely claims to be a RINO or Rockefeller Republican, but they lie about being conservative all the time. That should be a clue right there.
#7
Democrats and their media lackeys are siding with establishment Republicans (as they did when they vilified the tea-party). They like having lapdogs as the loyal opposition.

I remember when the media exploded in sanctimonious outrage when they found out president Nixon said bad words on the Watergate tapes. The President!
I, personally, was so scandalized I had to cry myself to sleep for three weeks.

I listened to Glen Beck a bit the other day. He has been setting himself up for a told-you-so moment, and was doing his shtick about the tape and locker room talk.
Mr. Beck. You may not want to visit our fire department after a run. Mr. Trump's tape is rookie level.
Or watch Range 15. Or Gran Torino. Or listen to music - what is Brown Sugar but Mick Jager singing about how he made it with a black gal?
One can easily imagine the jokes from the fountainhead of reverse-laying hose, and I was about blushing from the fine words coming out of the mouths of some paratroopers I had a chance to hang out with.
So I snorted at the total lack of surprise about this tape. The quip about King of England I find absolutely hilarious, the atom incredibly creative.
Wife, well, she didn't like it, but appreciated the apology..maybe she is used to mine from my occasional lack of decorum.
One presidential candidate bragging up their lifestyle, that's all lewd. What I find disgusting is the other potential president giggling at acquitting an obvious rapist, and defending her husband's absolutely awful behavior. That deserves honest outrage.
[Ynet] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... and Russia on Monday signed a deal to build a gas pipeline from Russia as the two countries pressed ahead with efforts to normalize ties.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead... and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... watched as their countries' energy ministers sealed an intergovernmental agreement for the "Turkish Stream" project that would bring gas from Russia to Turkey. It would then be distributed to European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... nations.
The project, which had been suspended amid tensions between the two countries, was signed on the sidelines of the World Energy Congress.
In other steps aimed at restoring ties, Putin announced that Russia had agreed to cut natural gas export prices to Turkey and resume importing fruit, vegetables and other agricultural goods from the country. Russia is building Turkey's first nuclear power plant, and Erdogan said the sides agreed to accelerate the project.

Incentives to lure Turkey away from the Sunni Axis fighting the Shiia Crescent project supported by Putin.
I feel that when push comes to shove Turkey will side with the Sunni Axis.

KARACHI: Brother of a local leader of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) was shot dead in the Orangi Town area of the metropolis, according to police officials.
"Kashif Sagheer, 25, was sitting along with some other men in sector 12-C of Orangi Town when four suspects riding on two motorcycles opened fire on him and fled," said Pakistan Bazaar Station House Officer, Imtiaz Mirjat.
The police official added the backseat riders were wearing burqas to avoid the pillion ban imposed recently.
Mirjat also said the victim’s elder brother, Asif, was a local leader of PSP in Orangi Town.
Police officials have started an investigation into the incident.
"The assailants specifically targeted Sagheer," added the police official.
The deceased sustained critical bullet wounds and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Sindh government on Friday imposed ban on pillion riding in Karachi in line with the security arrangements made for Muharram.
[SA Today] The number of deaths of police officers in the United States was 102 to date in 2016, according to the latest data from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
The data showed that the number of the police officers shot and killed so far this year is up more than 40 percent from last year.
The deaths included two police officers who were killed Saturday in Palm Springs, 170 km east to Los Angeles.
Californian authorities early Sunday arrested the suspect gunman, John Felix, a 26-year-old resident of Palm Springs, who had a history of violence in police records. He also wounded a third police officer.
The Obama administration's two pronged attack on the 'Rule of Law.' At the National level, through DoJ and the courts. At the local level, anarchy in the streets against our brave Law Enforcement community.
Felix, 26, was previously sentenced to four years in prison in an attempted gangland assassination. He was also the subject of a forceful arrest three years ago on the same doorstep where the Saturday shooting occurred. Investigators would not speak about Felix's criminal history during a news conference on Sunday, but confirmed he was "no stranger to the justice system."
the 102 number includes officers killed in vehicle collisions, officers killed while outside their vehicle while struck by a vehicle, officers dead from job related illnesses,.etc. Number shot is about 30% of that 102 and includes officers killed accidentally.

Frank, the obvious answer is that we need stricter gun control laws on law abiding citizens.

The aim here is to "Nationalize" the Police. It is one step from hard Tyranny.
Read their "playbook" so you may predict what evil you may do to another.

Sorry P2k you're wrong. How effective they are allowed to be will depend on the nature of the laws the tyrant wants enforced.
God help the Tea Partiers 2nd amendment supporters and conservatives in general. Once the 1st amendment is "edited" to define what is not allowed the blood flow will begin.
When he was elected the first time I predicted that there would be financial mayhem, new war and possible civil war. I was right on two of them and if he doesn't manage the third it will be because he is as lazy as he is evil.
[AnNahar] Wilenda Nicolas, six months pregnant, prepares a mattress on the floor for a little girl in a migrant shelter with some 100 other Haitians in Tijuana, a Mexican city bordering the United States.
Nicolas found the child, who she thinks is three years old, lost in the forest of Nicaragua during her trek from Brazil to Mexico.
"She was in tears, naked. Nobody stopped to take care of her, so I took her with me," Nicolas, 23, told AFP.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Libyan pro-government forces are advancing into the last area controlled by ISIS in the coastal city of Sirte, surrounding the snuffies after a five-month campaign backed by US air strikes, military officials say.
At least eight pro-government fighters were killed over the weekend as their forces pushed into the 600 block, an area in central Sirte, with snipers and boobytraps posing the main obstacles to their advance, the officials said.
A Rootersnews hound on the ground said forces advanced across two streets on Sunday, but were facing resistance and discovering bombs in many buildings.
ISIS took over Sirte a year ago, exploiting the chaos and violence that have dogged Libya since the overthrow of leader Muammar Qadaffy ...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later... in 2011 in order to carve out a new base, far from its main territory in Iraq and Syria.
Losing the city would be a major blow to the group, but officials believe some of its fighters and commanders escaped before Sirte was surrounded, and may continue to wage guerrilla-style attacks even after it falls.
The advance is being led by the Bonyan Marsous forces, mainly fighters from the city of Misrata, who are supporting a United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... -backed unity government in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... that is trying to bring together rival factions.
"The forces of Bonyan Marsous made some advances and completely trapped the 600 block area in Sirte," Misrata forces media official Ali Almabrouk said.
Mohammed Ghasri, a front man for pro-government forces, said two female snuffies had escaped with their three children and surrendered. They told Misrata forces they did not want to be used in suicide kabooms, Ghasri said.
The fall of a major city to one of the country’s most powerful factions is rekindling tensions with rival brigades in the east, led by Khalifa Haftar ... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. Guess you can't win them all... , who has rejected the authority of the UN-backed government in Tripoli.
In a major advance, Haftar has taken control of eastern oil ports and his troops have advanced close to Sirte. Many in the west of Libya believe Haftar is planning to establish himself as a military strongman like Qadaffy. His backers in the east see him as the only one who has fought for their interests, especially against Islamist bad boys.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A delegation of Hezb-e-Islami is expected to visit the United States of America in the near future as part of the party’s efforts to improve reconciliation process in the country, it has been reported.
Hezb-e-Islami’s chief negotiator Mohammad Amin Karim has confirmed the scheduled visit to the United State but did not elaborate further regarding the exact time frame.
Amin further added that negotiations are underway for the visit of Hezb-e-Islami delegation to the United States but such a visit is not on the top list of the party.
However, there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... another member of the party said the visit will take place in the near future and the delegation will be led by Ghairat Baheer, the chief of the political committee of the party.
According to the reports, Hezb-e-Islami’s delegation will likely discuss the removal of the party’s members from the global list of the designated terrorists.
The United States officiasl said last week ’they never get ahead of sanctions decisions’ on Gulbuddin Hekmatyar ... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil... as a landmark peace agreement was signed between the party the Afghan government.
The State Department Press Office Director, Elizaabeth Trudeau, said "Well, as you know, we never get ahead of sanctions decisions. I won’t do that now. I think we spoke about that agreement when it was first announced out of Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either.... and we welcome that. But in terms of individual actions on sanctions, I will not get ahead of that."

[AlAhram] German Chancellor Angela Merkel ...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom... on Monday announced a 27-million-euro aid package for Niger, her second stop in a three-nation Africa tour aimed at fighting terrorism and stemming the migrant influx to Europe.
The German leader said the army of the arid west African country, one of the world's poorest, would receive 10 million euros ($11 million) worth of equipment.
Germany will also build a military base to back up the UN mission in neighbouring Mali, the first country she had visited on the whirlwind African tour.
Merkel also promised 17 million euros as development aid for Niger's arid and desperately impoverished Agadez region in the north in a bid to fight migration to Europe.
She said efforts to stall the influx of migrants colonists into Europe would be futile without development.
Niger is a key transit point for people from sub-Saharan Africa who try to cross the Mediterranean to enter Europe.
Since 2014 more than 10,000 migrants colonists have bit the dust in the Mediterranean, according to UN figures.
Merkel has said that she wants the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... and North African countries to do deals modelled on a controversial agreement with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... to curb migrant flows to Europe.
Under the EU-Turkey deal, Ankara agreed to take back Syrians who made it to Greece in return for being allowed to send refugees from its massive camps to the bloc in a more orderly redistribution programme.
The pact also pledges billions of euros in EU aid for Turkey and visa-free European travel for Turkish citizens.
Merkel will visit Æthiopia on the last leg of her trip.
I expect Mr. O'Reilly to step down in shortly after the election. Something is happening at Fox, and he is not happy about it. The veneer of "Fair and Balanced" is coming off?
She might have ordered it, but it likely used the vast amount of Facebook data collected from its subscribers (without their knowledge). Big Data and Analytics.
