#1 None of the spies were inside the military or government. Chapman supposedly was working in real estate. My guess is they were obtaining classified information and following covert US plans by reading the NY Times.

The idea of stars and satellites has a core of deep cover agents as the framework for a number of nodes. I suspect this was the basis for the ring uncovered, and much, much more will emerge, including some interesting stories about the "honeytrap" Chapman?
