#1 They were never in favor of building a wall. If they had been, it would have been done. They claim the wall will be ineffective but I think they are deathly afraid that it will be effective. Without a steady stream of new voters from the Third World they will lose power and they know it. That's why they are fighting the wall for all they're worth. For them it's a life and death power struggle. This matter will not be easily resolved.
