#3 One reason to use balloons for Elint recon is that at 50-100K ft you need to have an antenna that is 20-50 times smaller than if it were in orbit.

#4 So I ask myself why China would float a spy satellite over America. They have them in space, right? It’s not a test of our reactions, because now they have lost any element of surprise. The list goes on and on. If this was not an attack with a release of something we don’t know about there is only one good explaination. Their satellites in space are Chinese junk that don’t work and to get the images they needed, they had to get within 40,000 feet.

#5 First, it's shown the world that the disconnect within the Chinese government has reached an all-time high. Second, diplomatic relations between the US and China have grown colder than ever and will likely be strained even further.
