Two policemen killed, four injured in airstrikes by Haftar's forces on Tripoli
[Libya Observer] The Libyan Interior Ministry said two of its police personnel were killed after Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's forces hit Rapid Intervention Force of Central Backup Force headquarters in Ain Zara In southern Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
The Interior Ministry said in a statement on Facebook that this was the second criminal attack on Interior Ministry's apparatuses after the first hit the main headquarters in Tripoli few days ago, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Last Thursday, the ambulance and emergency apparatus said a man and his wife as well as their four children were maimed as warplanes of Haftar's forces hit their house near the Interior Ministry's headquarters on Airport Road.

Airpower has been showing strong presence in Tripoli's skies, especially drones provided for Haftar's forces by their foreign backers.

Haftar's warplanes also carried out airstrikes on Jarma Company's building in Tajoura, causing no casualties, while other airstrikes hot Libyan Army positions on Ghout al-Reeh, causing mild injuries to some of the fighters.

Bangladesh
Extremist outfit Allahr Dal banned in Bangladesh
[Dhaka Tribune] The government has banned hard boy outfit Allahr Dal, terming it as a threat to public safety.

In an official notification yesterday, the Ministry of Home Affairs said the group has been banned as its activities pose a threat to public safety and security.

The move came a day after Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan mentioned that the government would ban eight hard boy outfits.

"Intelligence agencies have already received inputs on eight outfits, and steps will be taken against them," he said then before adding it was already decided to outlaw Allahr Dal.

Allahr Dal was formed in 1995 under the leadership of Matin Mehedi alias Mominul Islam, and in late 2004, the outfit merged with banned murderous Moslem organization Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

In August this year, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) claimed to arrest four of its activists, including acting chief Ibrahim Ahmed Hiro.

As JMB faced a serious blow following arrests of its top leaders following the 2005 countrywide kabooms, Matin left JMB with his followers and tried to reorganize as Allahr Dal, police sources said.

Matin was arrested in 2007 when he was still the chief of the outfit, according to RAB.
Benar News adds:
The Bangladeshi government on Wednesday banned the militant group Allahr Dal (Allah’s Party) after officials thwarted a plot to spring its leader from prison and launch terror attacks in the country, a senior cabinet minister said.

Khan said authorities had determined that Allahr Dal, which once started as a small group in northern Gaibandha district, was attempting to bolster its ranks in Dhaka and in the southeastern coastal city of Chattogram by distributing extremist pamphlets.

JMB leaders had tasked Allahr Dal members to hurl bombs on Aug. 17, 2005, when around 500 small improvised explosives went off in 300 locations in the country, Monirul Islam, chief of the Bangladeshi police’s Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crimes unit, told BenarNews.

“They carried out bomb attacks in some places,” Islam said, referring to Allahr Dal.

Officials said at least two people were killed and dozens of people were injured in the blasts. JMB claimed responsibility for the bombings.

Islam said a militant leader named Motin Mehdi, a native of Gaibandha, founded Allahr Dal.

In 2011, a court in Kurigram district sentenced Mehdi to life in prison after he was found guilty of involvement in the 2005 bombings. Another court in Jhenaidah district had also recently sentenced him to death. In the court verdict, he was identified as a JMB leader, officials said.

Mehdi remains in prison after his sentencings, Islam said.

But members of Allahr Dal continue to operate despite his imprisonment, authorities said.

On Aug. 19, members of the elite Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) presented four suspected Allahr Dal members during a news conference in Dhaka. Officials said the suspects had planned to attack a prison van that was scheduled to transport Mehdi, the Allahr Dal leader.

RAB members seized mobile phones and computer flashdrives from the suspects.

On Sept. 17, police also detained eight suspected Allahr Dal members during a raid in the southwestern Meherpur district.

Sheikh Zahidul Islam, additional police superintendent in Meherpur, told BenarNews three women were among the eight suspects, including one who said she joined Allahr Dal 18 years ago.

“We came to know about the activities of Allahr Dal in Meherpur through the arrest of one of its members,” he said.

Sweden charges man with spying on Iranian exiles
[DW] Swedish authorities charged a man on Wednesday with spying on Iran's behalf for several years.

The man, a 46-year-old Swedish-Iraqi national, is suspected of gathering information on members of the Ahvazi Arab exile community for a four-year period between April 2015 and February 2019 when he was arrested.

The Ahvazi are an Arab ethnic minority living in the southwest Iranian province of Khusestan. The minority group faces discrimination and persecution by authorities there, according to Amnesia Amnesty International. Figures for the number of Ahvazi living in Sweden are not available.

The man was charged with collecting personal information "under cover of representing an Arabic evening paper, having photographed and filmed Ahvazi conference delegates and demonstration participants in Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden," prosecutor Hans-Jorgen Hanstrom said in a statement.

Information gathering activities the man conducted included infiltrating online forums where he found phone numbers and addresses, taking photos of license plates, and gleaning internet log-in details of members of the Ahvazi community.

He allegedly compiled this information and shared it with Iranian security forces in Tehran or online, said the Swedish prosecutor.

The suspect, who has been in pre-trial detention since March 1, has denied the charges.

Unrest in the Iranian province of Khusestan goes back at least 100 years, when a local leader rebelled against Reza Shah Pahlavi's rule.

The Ahvaz National Resistance®, an Iranian ethnic Arab movement for the secession of oil-rich Khusestan from Iran, grabbed credit for an attack in the region's capital Ahvaz that killed 25, leading Iran

Cyprus detains 2 Syrians over boat filled with 131 migrants
[IsraelTimes] Cyprus police detain two Syrian men on suspicion of human trafficking following the arrival of a boat loaded with 131 Syrian migrants colonists on the island nation’s northeastern coast.

Police say the two men were aboard another vessel that had shadowed the boat ferrying the migrants colonists as it approached the Cypriot coastline yesterday.

Cypriot authorities had tracked the movements of the migrants colonists’ boat by radar.

The men, ages 43 and 53, were arrested after a marine police patrol boat intercepted their vessel off the Akamas nature preserve.

Both men face charges including aiding and abetting the illegal entry of migrants colonists in Cyprus and people trafficking by a sea route.

All 131 migrants colonists, including five women and eight minors, were taken to a reception center on the capital’s outskirts.

Homemade Bomb Found Near Swedish Shopping Mall
[BREITBART] The Swedish bomb squad were called to a shopping centre in the city of Kristianstad Monday after an bomb was found outside a property.

Investigators described the homemade device as a "black powder bomb" and said that it was found in the area of the C4 Shopping centre at around 9:15 p.m., newspaper Kristianstadsbladet reports.

Local police 0n-duty investigator Peter Frostlund said that the bomb squad arrived and disarmed what he described as a "small explosive charge" and added that it was then sent away for forensic examination.
"We believe it was from IKEA after we identified several extra unused parts and screws nearby"
Kristianstad police spokesperson Robert Loeffel said that Sherlocks were unsure as to how much damage the bomb could have caused in the area and added that the placement may not have been the actual target for the explosive.

Iraq
Clashes in southern Iraqi city of Karbala kill 2 protesters
Two more Iraqi protesters have been killed in renewed festivities in the Shia holy city of Karbala, a flashpoint in weeks of anti-government demonstrations, a protester and a medic said Wednesday.
They said the two were killed in overnight festivities near the provincial headquarters in the city. They spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of repercussions.

In the capital, Baghdad, protesters clashed with security forces on a fourth bridge across the Tigris River, after previous festivities forced the closure of three other bridges, paralyzing traffic. The protests have been centered in Tahrir Square, on the eastern bank of the Tigris, and the demonstrators have been trying to reach the Green Zone that is located on the other side, which houses government offices and foreign embassies.

Iraqi protesters block entrance to Nassiriya oil refinery: Sources
[AlAhram] Anti-government protesters blocked the entrance to the Nassiriya oil refinery in southern Iraq on Wednesday, security and oil sources said.

The protesters blocked the tankers that transport fuel to gas stations from entering the refinery, causing fuel shortages across Dhi Qar province, the sources told Rooters.
Next they'll complain about fuel and power shortages
The refinery has a maximum production capacity of 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) but had recently only been producing between 15,000-20,000 bpd, oil sources said, which is not enough to meet the province's fuel needs.

The rest is transported from nearby oil-rich Basra and stored in a warehouse within the refinery, which protesters have now also blocked and expelled employees from, the sources said.
