[Garowe] Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged locals to join the Somali National Army [SNA] in fighting violent mostly peaceful murderous Moslems, noting that the national army cannot defend everyone across the country contrary to expectations of thousands of people who are defending on them.
The country has thousands of troops with an addition of 19,600 serving in the African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] and 500 from the US Africa Command but the threat posed by al-Shabaab ...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them... makes it extremely difficult for the soldiers to reach every corner of Somalia.
During his visit to the recently liberated town of Adan Yabal on Sunday, Hassan Sheikh urged citizens to be responsible for their own security, adding that it is only in HirShabelle where illegal roadblocks are still being mounted by al-Shabaab. The rest of the country, he added, remains safe and secure.
He emphasized that the government can't send troops everywhere and urged citizens to contribute to the security of their areas. Elsewhere in Somalia, the local militia has taken arms against the Death Eaters who have been fighting to topple the fragile UN-backed federal government of Somalia.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stated that areas, where al-Shabaab remains active, are those where locals have not yet risen up and are unprepared to combat the terrorist group. For the last seven months, the Death Eaters have, however, lost grip of strategic towns following the sophisticated operation.
During this Holy month of Ramadan, the national army is set to launch the second phase of the al-Shabaab crackdown which will focus on remote areas where the Death Eaters still have influence. The government of Somalia has also started installing civilian administration in areas where the military managed to flush out the murderous Moslems.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had vowed to get rid of the Death Eaters thus launching "total war" against the group and has been asking for assistance from stakeholders.
The president managed to persuade Kenya, Djibouti and Æthiopia to send additional troops to the country for the impending second phase of the al-Shabaab crackdown.

The mission’s chairman Mohammed Auajjar said Sherlocks found crimes against humanity had been committed against migrants colonists in detention centres under the control of Libya’s Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration (DCMI) and the country’s coasties.
"These entities receive technical, logistic and monetary support from the European Union and its member states" for the interception and return of migrants colonists, the former Moroccan justice minister said.
The group’s report said there were reasonable grounds to believe that sexual slavery, a crime against humanity, was being committed against migrants colonists.
Mission member Tracy Robinson said they also uncovered slavery in general.
"We have found instances of enslavement of persons who have been traded to outside entities to perform various services, but also sexual slavery of women in and around detention centres," she said.
The Sherlocks voiced concern about the deprivation of liberty of Libyans and migrants colonists throughout the country, in what they said could also amount to crimes against humanity.

[FoxNews] Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon unexpectedly stepped down last month after eight years as leader of the party

Humza Yousaf, a Muslim and descendant of Pakistani immigrants, was elected by Scotland’s governing party Monday to be the country’s next leader.
The 37-year-old Glasgow-born Yousaf is set to be confirmed as first minister during a session of the Scottish parliament in Edinburgh on Tuesday. He now faces the challenge of uniting his party, the Scottish National Party, and reenergizing the push for independence from the United Kingdom.
Yousaf, who currently is Scotland's health minister, beat two other Scottish lawmakers in a contest to replace First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. She unexpectedly stepped down last month after eight years as leader of the party and of Scotland's semi-autonomous government.
SNP members chose Yousaf over Scottish finance minister Forbes by a margin of 52% to 48%, after third-placed candidate Ash Regan was eliminated in a first vote. Turnout among the 72,000 members was 70%.
Yousaf has promised to push forward a controversial bill to make it easier for Scottish people to legally change their gender. The bill was passed by the Scottish parliament but blocked by the U.K. government.
Scottish voters backed remaining in the U.K. in a 2014 referendum that was billed as a once-in-a-generation decision. The SNP wants a new vote, but London has refused to authorize one, and the U.K. Supreme Court has ruled that Scotland can't hold one without London's consent.
Yousaf said he would ask the Conservative government in London for authorization to hold a new referendum. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's office said the answer remained no.
Yousaf has also said he wants to build a "settled, sustained" majority for independence. Polls currently suggest Scottish voters are split about evenly on the issue.
"To those in Scotland who don't yet share the passion I do for independence, I will aim to earn your trust by continuing to govern well," Yousaf said.
Critics say Yousaf, who served in several posts in Sturgeon's government, bears some responsibility for Scotland's long healthcare waiting times, homelessness problem and high drug death toll.
Independent pollster Mark Diffley said that while the SNP members who elected Yousaf are passionately concerned about independence, the new leader "will now have to pivot really quite sharply towards what public priorities are, which is not the same."
"It's more about supporting people through the cost of living crisis, getting economic growth, improving public services," Diffley said. "That's where reality will bite, I think, pretty soon."

In the letter written to the PM yesterday, the President emphasized that all concerned executive authorities of federal and provincial governments should be directed to refrain from abuse of human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... and assist the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for holding general elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, within the timeframe, in compliance of Supreme Court’s order dated 1st March, 2023, to avoid further complications including contempt of court.
The President said that he was writing the letter as events had taken place in the recent past that were highlighted by the print, electronic and social media about glaring violations of fundamental and human rights that needed to be brought to the Prime Minister’s notice to ensure remedial measures and preventive action.
The President stated that elections of provincial assemblies, in case of their dissolution under Article 105 or Article 112, were required to be held within 90 days under Article 224 (2) of the Constitution. He added that the Supreme Court of Pakistain vide its order dated 1st March, 2023 had directed the ECP to propose date(s) to the President for holding the poll within 90 days or on a date that deviates to barest minimum from aforesaid deadline.

The move came after the Election Commission of Pakistain (ECP) had postponed the upcoming elections in Punjab — initially scheduled to be held on April 30 — citing security reasons as the major cause behind the change in plans.
The prime minister, in response to the president’s letter, said that he was constrained to express his disappointment at the blatant partisan nature of the letter, "which in parts reads like a Press Release of the Opposition political party i.e. the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf ...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations.... (PTI).
"Mr. President, the Constitution does not vest any powers in or as signs any functions to the President whereby the President can seek explanation from the Government or the Prime Minister. [Shafaq News] The Iraqi Ministry of Health has announced that the excavation work in several mass grave sites near Sinjar district, close to Hamedan, has been completed.
According to the Director General of the Forensic Medicine Department, Dr. Zaid Ali Abbas, around 30 remains were recovered from four different locations, and the identity of the exhumed remains will be determined according to the international standards applied in the forensic medicine department.
The mass graves in that area are linked to the mass killings committed by ISIS in 2014 against members of the Yazidi community who live in the village of Hamedan and its vicinity.
The remains will be subjected to special examinations to determine their identity by matching their DNA with their relatives. Then, their burial ceremonies will be conducted according to the religious traditions recognized in the Yazidi community in honor of the victims and their families. Abbas explained.

[IsraelTimes] As PM announces delay, protesters demand judicial reform move forward, rail against ’elites,’ claim election ’stolen’ from them
Tens of thousands of government supporters demonstrated in Jerusalem on Monday in favor of its judicial overhaul and against its planned halt, shortly before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced it was being put on hold. The rally was the largest event of its kind since the government launched its far-reaching legislative plan in January. The past months have seen massive anti-overhaul protests, but supporters’ rallies were few and far between until it became clear Monday that the plan was being delayed. Netanyahu said he was pausing the effort to reform the judiciary to allow a potential compromise deal with the opposition.
At the pro-overhaul rally at Jerusalem’s Sacher Park, protesters chanted "Our voice isn’t less important than a pilot’s," a reference to widespread warnings by Air Force reserve pilots that they would not serve if Israel’s democracy was harmed, as they contended the overhaul will do. Others cried, "We know exactly who we voted for."
Some held signs reading, "Second-class citizen" and "They’re stealing the election from us." Many chanted, "The people want judicial reform," while some also shouted: "Where were you in Gush Katif," recalling Israel’s settlement bloc in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. Black Bloc cadres earning their US State Department paycheck.
Others sought to hold dialogue, debating the points of the legislation.
"You need to remember diversity We are assured it's our strength. If you actually believe that, you may consider an IQ test to see if you've been Fettermanned is the answer to everything," one supporter of the judicial changes said to an anti-overhaul demonstrator, arguing in favor of the coalition’s push to diversify the High Court (critics say the court has its fair share of diverse, conservative voices, and that the legislation will not allow more diversity, but politicization).
"We keep electing right-wing, but getting left-wing decisions," he added, echoing a common refrain on the right.
La Familia, a group of ultra-nationalist soccer fans who back Jerusalem’s Beitar FC, announced it would attend the protest outside the Knesset. The group’s history of violence led to some concern that the rally could include unrest.
At the rally, government ministers lined up to assure protesters that the reforms will continue, despite Netanyahu’s decision to freeze the process.
Likud’s Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana addressed the demonstration and asked the masses to curb fiery ...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob... discourse and avoid violence.
"We are in a sensitive, stormy, and delicate period," Ohana said. "There are no enemies. There is one nation that is divided over our path and is hoping for better days. Let’s fulfill this hope, together."
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir told the rally that earlier in the day he had briefly decided to resign from the government over the decision to pause the legislation, but then decided to stay after witnessing the anti-overhaul protests.
"I went outside and saw the anarchists’ demonstration and understood that if I resign, it will give them a victory. They will not win," he said.
In exchange for his support of the delay to the process, Ben Gvir’s Otzma Yehudit party said the premier agreed to advance the planned formation of a "national guard" directly subordinate to the minister, which has sparked alarm in the opposition, due to concerns the minister will use it to abuse power.
In his speech, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich told protesters that they represented the country’s majority, who want a reform of the judiciary.
"Mister Prime Minister, announce that we are legislating the reform this week," he said.
Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi told protesters that they were giving the coalition "an impetus to continue promoting what you chose."
"I say to you we will not stop. With God’s help, the reform will pass. Even if there is a delay, don’t lose heart," he said.
Though he did not speak at the rally itself, Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar tweeted that the tens of thousands of pro-reform demonstrators "give us strength in this difficult and complicated period."
"It is our duty to continue our just fight for the necessary reform of the legal system. Despite the temporary pause, we will not give up the reform, and even do everything possible in order to reach agreements and unite the rift in the nation of Israel," he tweeted.
The pro-overhaul rally came as demonstrations against the legislation took place nationwide on Monday, a day after spontaneous mass protests broke out on Sunday night after Netanyahu announced he will fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for publicly calling to freeze the process.
Netanyahu made no mention of Gallant’s ousting when he announced the delay of the overhaul and it was not clear whether he intended to reverse the move. The premier’s declaration was welcomed by opposition leader Yair Lapid and National Unity chief Benny Gantz. Gantz said he was ready to enter negotiations at the President’s Residence "with an open heart, not to defeat, but to agree." Briefly. I am told that the judicial reforms will allow the influential ultra orthodox to theocritize Israel. They don’t serve, have huge families and live off the state. This is broad brush. Seems Netanyahu maybe allied with whoever would get him back in and there is this element. I wonder if bad actors, Siri’s and others. aren’t making a move similar to the one we have seen here to put progressive political judiciary in and this is an attempt to circumvent it.
