Afghanistan
Ex-Afghan Vice President Requests International Investigation into 'Massacre' in Daikundi
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The leader of the newly formed Justice and Freedom party of Afghanistan, Sarwar Danesh, asked the international community and human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
organizations to thoroughly investigate the "massacre" in Daikundi province, following the reports of mass civilian killings.

The former vice president of Afghanistan referred to the ongoing massacre of civilians, including women and kiddies, in the Daikundi province of central Afghanistan as a "clear example of crime against humanity" and urged the international community and rights organizations, in particular, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), to investigate and put an end to the atrocity.

The Islamic Emirate’s forces raided the village of Siyuk-Shaibar in Daikundi province on Friday morning, November 25, according to reports from Daikundi, where 9 civilians were reportedly killed.

"The illegitimate ruling group of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
once again created a calamity in Daikundi," the leader of the Justice and Freedom Party of Afghanistan posted on the official page of the party on Facebook. "No logical justification can be offered for forcing people out of their houses and shooting them."

Bitter responses have followed shootings of civilians in Daikundi province. Dawood Sarkhosh, a well-known Afghan singer, is one of many who condemned this tragedy.

"Nine people, both young and old, have died so far in the rough and small village of Siyuk-Shaibar, where life itself is a struggle. The Emirate soldiers killed civilians, destroyed homes, and chained six young men who were taken to an anonymous place," Sarkhosh wrote on his Facebook page.

"What will happen to the injured is unknown," Sarkhosh expressed concern saying that "it is clear that we value compassion and patriotism, and support one another with our hearts."

Domestic media reported that at least 200 Islamic Emirate soldiers raided the village, citing their local sources. The Taliban, however, has yet to respond to the mass killing of civilians in Daikundi.

Afghan foreign ministry says democratic countries have more rate of violence against women
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in reaction to the UNAMA’s remarks has said that the countries with a democratic governance system have more rate of violence and rapes against women.

"Democracies have the highest rates of violence & rape against women. 1 in 3 women in the US experience rape & violence, similar holds true for other democratic governments", Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted .

Islamic governments are obligated to legislate safeguards to protect women from facing same fate, Mr. Balkhi said.

This comes as the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in a statement published on Thursday called on the Afghan authorities to end gender based violence in Afghanistan.

Afghan government to take immediate steps to end violence against women and the broader deterioration of women’s rights as a vital part of efforts to establish a meaningful and sustainable peace, UNAMA said in a blurb.

According to the UN, since the fall of Afghan republic government in 2021, women in in the country have had many of their most fundamental rights restricted or rescinded in a country that has one of the highest rates of violence against women globally.

Afghan women have also experienced a marked deterioration in access to coordinated, comprehensive and quality services for survivors of gender-based violence. At the same time, the demand for those services is higher than ever before, UN said in a statement.

"The fundamental rights of Afghan women need to be protected and concrete steps need to be taken for an enabling environment which is free from all forms of violence," said Roza Otunbayeva, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan. "Protecting the rights of women is a crucial factor for stability, prosperity and any lasting peace in Afghanistan" said Otunbayeva, who is also head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

#2  This accusation by the Taliban punk is totally unfounded. Our statistics can not be compared side to side because we can no longer define a woman safely. If we do try to define one, that is the same as violence.

Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...

Ahmed Karash, who was giving a speech at a meeting in Garowe last night, said it is unacceptable to rape maidens of tender yearss three to nine years old.
Once they hit ten they're good to go.
The latest rape in Puntland, said Vice President of Puntland has been put on a committee, which will ensure and monitor the access to justice for these girls.

Acting President Puntland has indicated that they will end rape in the area and engage in a similar war against terrorism.

The Puntland Women's Ministry said that this year alone in Puntland, there have been 71 cases of rape and murder, in part with maidens of tender yearss.

Colonel Shuute announces a serious plan for Adale
[BNSOMALIA] Somali army chief of the first division Colonel Hassan Ali Nur Shuute, one of President Hassan Sheikh's officials, traveled to Adale and the subcontinent, discussed their travel plans for Adale.

Shuute said the trip was crucial to ending the civil war in the Adale area and continuing the fight against the al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
group.

Special forces and a military prosecutor said they would operate in the areas where the brothers lived in the Central Shabelle region, with everyone instead of taking immediate action looga will.

Governor Shute made it clear that at this time the reason for going to Adale was that it was decided to kill the latter, and to warn the traditional elders, traders and anyone who could possibly send communities, the non-killer put them in jail for a long time.

The agreement reached by the warring communities signed the night before by Adale said Shuute is a good way to keep peace, stating that the military's intelligence is committed to enforcing the agreement.

Governor Shuute made it clear that the Sh/Middle community war had stifled the war with al-Shabaab, so that it does not happen, he promises that anyone who tries to provoke a later outbreak will take legal action immediately, as a judge.

Cyber
Strategy 'urgently needed' to address cybersecurity risks to oil and gas infrastructure: report
[JustTheNews] "The Department of the Interior — which is responsible for overseeing the infrastructure — has taken few steps to address cybersecurity risk," says the Government Accountability Office.

A network of over 1,600 offshore facilities that produce a significant portion of U.S. domestic oil and gas faces a growing risk of cyberattacks, and the Interior Department has taken insufficient steps to address this risk, according to a new report by the Government Accountability Office.

"Offshore oil and gas infrastructure faces significant and increasing cybersecurity risks in the form of threat actors, vulnerabilities, and potential impacts," states the report, titled "Offshore Oil and Gas: Strategy Urgently Needed to Address Cybersecurity Risks to Infrastructure."

Last year, leases in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coasts of California and Alaska produced approximately 628 million barrels of oil and 824 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, according to data published by the Department of the Interior's Office of Natural Resources Revenue. This accounted for approximately 62% of the oil and 20% of the natural gas produced on federal property.

But this production is vulnerable, under growing risk of being sabotaged by cyberattacks. One reason why is the ability of potential attackers to inflict harm.

"Threat actors are becoming increasingly capable of carrying out attacks on critical infrastructure, including offshore oil and gas infrastructure," the report states. "The federal government has identified the oil and gas sector as a target of malicious state actors."

The 2022 Annual Threat Assessment of the U.S. Intelligence Community found that China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea pose the greatest cyber threats to American interests. However, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) also listed transnational criminal groups, hackers and so-called hacktivists, and insiders — employees, contractors, vendors with authorized access to potentially sensitive information — as other potential threats.

Hacktivists may pose an especially acute threat to the oil and gas industry amid a widespread push by environmentalists to stop using fossil fuels and turn instead to renewable energy.

"Hackers and hacktivists no longer need a great amount of skill to compromise business IT systems because of the growing availability of public and commercial cyberattack tools," the report states. "Additionally, in 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation observed that
several ransomware groups had developed code designed to stop critical infrastructure or industrial processes. Furthermore, threat actors may become even more capable — particularly with advances in artificial intelligence."

At the same time, offshore oil and gas facilities are more vulnerable than ever.

"According to agency officials and industry representatives, OT [operational technology] in offshore oil and gas infrastructure is becoming increasingly vulnerable to cyberattacks," wrote the GAO. "Most notably, OT systems were once largely isolated from internet and business IT systems but are now frequently connected with those systems both within a company and accessible by internet systems globally. As a result, cyberattacks are now more likely to originate in business IT systems and migrate to OT."

As oil and gas facilities become vulnerable and potential attackers become more capable, the likely impact of a successful cyberattack could be catastrophic.

"Successful cyberattacks against offshore oil and gas infrastructure could have potentially severe effects on safety, the environment, and the economy," the report states. "These can include deaths and injuries, damaged or destroyed equipment, and pollution to the marine
environment. However, in a worst-case OT failure scenario, all these impacts can occur simultaneously at a catastrophic scale."

The GAO cited the example of the 2010 failure of the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling rig, which led to its explosion and sinking as well as 11 deaths, serious injuries, and the largest marine oil spill in the history of the U.S. (approximately 4.9 million barrels)."

Cyberattacks against pipeline OT could also disrupt the production and transmission of oil and gas, negatively affecting energy supplies, markets, and the broader economy.

The Interior Department's Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) regulates and is responsible for overseeing offshore oil and gas infrastructure. However, the GAO chided the agency for taking insufficient steps to tackle the cyber threat.

"BSEE has taken few actions to address cybersecurity risks to the more than 1,600 oil and gas facilities and structures on the OCS [outer continental shelf of the U.S.]," the report states. "This creates significant liability, given that a successful cyberattack on such infrastructure could have potentially catastrophic effects. Since recognizing the need to take action in 2015, the scale and scope of cybersecurity risks have continued to increase, creating even greater urgency for the bureau to respond. However, BSEE has struggled to address cybersecurity risks to offshore oil and gas infrastructure and only recently has taken steps to start a new initiative."

But this effort remains in "the earliest stages of development," according to the GAO, which recommended the BSEE "should immediately develop and implement a strategy" to implement its cyber initiative and address offshore infrastructure risks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran’s Fars news agency is hit by cyberattacks, blames Israel
[IsraelTimes] Fars says its website disrupted by a ’complex hacking and cyberattack operation,’ claims it is regularly targeted by hackers, including from Israel

Hackers have disrupted the work of Iran’s Fars news agency, one of the main sources of news disseminated by the state during protests over Mahsa Amini’s death, the agency said and appeared to blame Israel.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
has been rocked by protests since Amini’s death in jug on September 16, after her arrest for an alleged breach of the country’s dress code for women.

Fars said its website had been disrupted late Friday by a "complex hacking and cyberattack operation."

"Removing possible bugs... may cause problems for some agency services for a few days," it said in a statement posted Saturday on its Telegram channel.

"Cyberattacks against Fars news agency are carried out almost daily from different countries, including the occupied territories (Israel)," it added, without elaborating.

On October 21, a group called Black Reward said it had obtained documents related to Iran’s nuclear program, and demanded the release of all political prisoners and people arrested during the protests.

After its 24-hour ultimatum expired, the material on social media said to be released by the group included a short clip from a purported nuclear site in Iran, as well as documents.

On November 23, the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran acknowledged that one of its subsidiaries had been targeted by "a specific foreign country," while downplaying the importance of the documents in question.

Iran on the one side and Israel and the United States on the other have regularly accused each other of cyberattacks.

On Thursday, previously unseen footage that was published on the Telegram social media service by an Iranian hacker group showing a deadly bombing attack in Jerusalem a day earlier. The footage came from surveillance cameras used by a major Israeli security organization.

The group, Moses Staff, claimed it had hacked security cameras thought initially to have been operated by police. Earlier this year, the group published footage from dozens of cameras throughout Jerusalem and some in Tel Aviv.

"We’ve been surveillance [sic] you for many years, at every moment and on each step. This is just one part of our surveillance over your activities through access to CCTV cameras in the country. We had said that, we will strike you while you never would have imagined," the group wrote on its Telegram channel in January.

Security officials confirmed that the camera in question was used by a major security organization, though they did not specify which.

Officials downplayed the incident, saying the camera, which can be remotely controlled to pan, tilt, and zoom, belonged to a civilian company that works with Israel’s security establishment.

"There is no security breach or leakage of classified information," one official told Army Radio. The official said the camera is used "in a limited manner" by the security agency, and was not connected to its systems.
