Government Corruption
Rep. George Santos, has stepped down from the House committees he was on
He strikes me as a gregarious sort, who wouldn’t enjoy being shunned by his new colleagues.
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Rep. George Santos, the New York Republican whose falsehoods about his background have drawn interest from both prosecutors and late night comedians, has stepped down from the House committees he was on.

"We just got out of conference and George has voluntarily removed himself from committees as he goes through this process, but ultimately voters decide," said House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.).

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy
...the GOP house majority whip. He replaces Eric Cantor, who got whupped because his politix are like Kevin McCarthy's...
(R-Calif.) told news hounds Santos’ move was an appropriate one "until he can clear everything up."

Santos was appointed to two of the lowest-profile House committees, the Science, Space and Technology panel and the Small Business Committee.

The news comes only days after the Department of Justice had signaled it was likely pursuing a criminal investigation of Santos by asking the Federal Election Commission to hold off on its own probe. Mother Jones magazine has also reported the names or addresses of more than a dozen of Santos’ biggest listed campaign donors could not be confirmed.

The possible campaign finance violations join a long list of things Santos appears to have been untruthful about, including much of his self-described background. Santos’ troubles with truth telling have become fodder for late night comedians including Stephen Colbert, who on Monday night made fun of his singing ability.

The move also came as House Republicans are mulling how to keep a Democratic House member, Rep. Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She was apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side...
(D-Minn.), from joining the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where she served last Congress.

Republicans have said Omar should not be seated because of what they say are anti-Semitic comments in her past, but Democrats see it as payback for them not allowing two Republican 2020 election deniers to join the House panel that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

#1  As long as Santos has the support of the Latino voting block he is not going any where voluntarily. The Latino voting block is growing every day in the US. If he loses that support he is gone.

#2  Less work for him. "Don't throw me into that briar patch."

Why should his constituents be any more concerned about him than AOCs constituents are concerned about her performance? They're the only ones he has to answer to.

#3  It sure takes a special type to get into politics.

#4  Theoretically, only the voters in his district should matter. Beto’s popularity with Californians probably hurt his chances in his own district, for instance. Certainly heritage makes a difference but both sides could run Latino candidates or he could be primaried by Shakira, if she is Repulican. It would also be good if she was a citizen and lived in the district but that seems to matter less and less both for running purposes and for voting.

#5  Last comment led me down a series of rat holes. ‘Shaka Khan is a Pub?’ Shaka died in 1828? Oh, Shakira. I…. I’ll just be over there In the far corner. All my fault.

#6  Gregarious. Yes. Better to be thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt. George should have taken that to heart.

#7  I grow weary of hearing about this guy. OK, he's flawed. But is he any worse than these people?

Maybe I shouldn't ask because I'm sick and tired of hearing about them too.

#8  And at least Santos never claimed to have had a run-in with Corn Pop.

#9  As long as Santos has the support of the Latino voting block

His district is very Jewish, and they’ll never vote for him again.

#1  So the PBC in Washington D.C. was the initial drop-off site for classified material from the originating agencies ?

Specifically targeted classified material dispersed with the legitimate archived material as a cover, then sorted and couriered to DE.

No meat left on the 'taken from the SCIF' bone I take it? DOJ, please provide the date on the most recent piece of classified material found.

The 'when did they know it' question. Mid-November of.....what year ?

#2  I noticed the media was not pre-warned of the search so cameras could be on the ready.

#6  Just imagine how many nooks and crannies there must be in the Rehobeth Beach house that needed to be sanitized. It took over two months before the WH cleared the FBI to search. This is clown-show theatrics for the MSM to give the veneer of equal treatment!

#7  Are they finding docs, or are they planting docs? No honor among thieves tyrants.

#8  /\ Could be some of both. Get a total count for the media. Shred the really incriminating stuff....leak the harmless stuff via the media or DoJ release. Unless I conducted the inventory myself....no trust from me at this point.

#8  She will get a metric ton of donations from liberals hoping to challenge Trump but her run will be about being a vice president.

Trump will have nothing to do with her so she either just wants the donation money and attention or she hopes DeSantis runs and wants her on the ticket.
