Niger to deploy troops to Nigeria to battle Boko Haram

During the attack, the Nigeria-based holy warriors reportedly burned down three mosques and killed 31 worshippers who were praying.

The ambush on the town by Boko Haram forces took place just a day after neighboring Chad deployed its soldiers across the border to engage the Takfiri holy warriors and recapture the Nigerian town of Gamboru.

This is while the Chadian army announced that its forces had killed over 200 Boko Haram holy warriors during the battle.

"They (Boko Haram) attacked and burnt three mosques in the attack," said Fotokol community leader, Mele Mohammed, on Thursday.

Houthis Allow More Time for Talks
[YEMENONLINE.INFO] The country fell deeper into political limbo on Wednesday after rival Yemeni factions missed a deadline to agree on a new governmental setup in the wake of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi 's January resignation.

Two high-ranking officials in the General People's Congress party, or GPC, which holds a majority of the seats in Parliament, said the talks ended in the evening with no deal.

The Houthis, a minority group whose bully boyz last year overran the capital, San'a, had set the Wednesday deadline, threatening to take power by force and set up a government of their choosing if a compromise wasn't in place by then.

But a leading Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
official said the group would likely allow more time for talks to take place and wouldn't make a unilateral move to seize power.

Houthi opponents said they had refused to back down from their demand that Yemen's parliamentary system be preserved. The group, they said, wanted to scrap the government and adopt a different system that cemented their hold on power in the majority-Sunni nation.

After the talks ended, the Houthis' Revolutionary Committee said it would announce in the next few days "the beginning of a series of steps involving rule of the country which will take place responsibly and will not exclude others."

The U.S. is concerned about Yemen's growing uncertainty because Mr. Hadi's government had been a key partner in counterterrorism operations against al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
, or AQAP. The Yemeni terror group grabbed credit for January's attack on the Gay Paree offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
.

The Houthis have also fought against AQAP, but have been critical about U.S.-led drone strikes, which have continued despite the recent turmoil. The U.S. has also opened indirect lines of communication and intelligence-sharing with the Houthis, said officials on both sides.

Yemen's Houthis' over-ambition bounces back
[YEMENONLINE.INFO] When the sun rose in Yemen on Thursday, the leadership of the revivalist Zaydi movement Ansarullah woke up to a reality they created but probably would have rather have avoided.

On Sunday, soon after the National Conference in a sports hall in Sanaa drew to a close, Ansarullah (also known as the Houthis) issued a final statement on the conference's main conclusions and demands. Among those demands was a three-day-deadline, which expired on Wednesday evening, for Yemen's political parties to reach a solution to the current crisis. Otherwise, the statement read, the "revolutionary leadership" will take over and act as decision maker during the transitional period.

The conference's official title might give an idea of all-inclusive gathering, but most political parties boycotted the event organized by Ansarullah. A few tribal leaders attended. So did some members of Yemen's long-time ruling party General People's Congress and military officers, yet another sign that there was cooperation between Ansarullah and political and military factions loyal to former president President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
Anti-Ansarullah demonstrations
While the conference went on, anti-Ansarullah demonstrations took place in various cities, including Taiz, Ibb, Aden and Sanaa's Tahrir Square. The violent disruption of the protests in the capital by Ansarullah fighters and their harassment campaign of local journalists and activists helped to undo the movement's populist mantle and uncover its more disquieting side.

The U.N. secretary-general's special adviser on Yemen, Jamal Benomar, confirmed a few days ago that recently-resigned President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi remains effectively under house arrest. Hadi said he could reconsider his resignation if Ansarullah abandons the capital and security is restored. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
Ansarullah has recently established a reputation for not honouring their part of the deals they make, another reason why Hadi's immediate comeback looks unlikely.

Since taking over the capital in September, the movement's leadership got comfortable with using Hadi's weak government as window-dressing while they effectively called the shots. Emboldened by their new position, they went a few steps too far in pressuring the government to the point it had not options but to resign. Their insistence for Hadi to backtrack on the resignation he submitted last week is a sign of Ansarullah's anxiety about a situation they did not seem to expect.

Ansarullah's military offensive across much of north and central Yemen also added new groups to their long list of enemies. They are not only a primary target for Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
. Powerful tribes in Marib and al-Bayda have already turned against them and serious tensions verging on armed festivities between the northern Zaydi movement and Salafist groups have resumed.

Bangladesh
Those financing current terror acts to face music: Amu
[PRIMENEWS.BD] Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Thursday said necessary actions would be taken after investigations against those involved in financing the ongoing terrorist acts in the country.

"Those behind financing the terrorist acts in the name of hartal
... a peculiarly Bangla combination of a general strike and a riot, used by both major political groups in lieu of actual governance ...
and blockade will be identified and brought to justice soon," he said after a meeting of the taskforce formed to prevent financing of krazed killers.

Amu, also the president of the taskforce committee, further said, "If the sources of financing the current terrorist activities could be identified and their flow of money is stopped, then these acts would come down and the situation will improve. "

He said an investigation is going on to identify the sources of financing and some sources have already been detected." The outcome of the investigation will be made public soon," he added.

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and bigwigs of different law-enforcement agencies were present at the meeting.

Turkish government and PKK talk over 'reinforced ceasefire'
[Hurriyet Daily News] The Feb. 4 meeting between the Turkish government and the leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) at İmralı Island prison, south of Istanbul, was expected to be important regarding the future of the peace talks, as the country heads for general elections on June 7.

Both government officials and members of the Kurdish problem-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in parliament wanted to hear something significant from Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the PKK. (HDN, Feb 3, 2015)

The government wanted to hear Öcalan make a call for an end to armed struggle - at least in Turkey, given that PKK fighters are still fighting against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Iraq and Syria. Deputy Prime Minister Yalçın Akdogan, who is the contact point in the government for the talks, had said they wanted to see such a statement at the latest by March 21, the annual Nevruz celebrations.

The HDP, meanwhile, wanted to know whether Öcalan still supported its decision to head into the elections under its own name, in order to challenge the unfair 10 percent threshold, taking the risk of being left out of the parliament. Usually, the Kurdish problem-based parties enter elections as a collection of independent candidates before grouping together after the vote.

Pentagon: Don'€™t Expect U.S. To Do Anything Different After Latest ISIS Brutality
But don'€™t expect the United States to do anything different in response to the terrorists€' latest brutal act. '€œIt'€™s not tit for tat,'
Actually, Admiral, I would be ok seeing action far in excess of that which ISIS took, but that's just my opinion.
a Pentagon spokesman said on Tuesday.

'€œI can only speak for the United States military -- we haven'€™t made it a point to respond directly to these killings, even when these ...€” when American citizens were killed,'€ Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby told reporters.

Saudi government informed of Pakistan's concern on Madrassas funding
[NATION.PK] Saudi Embassy has informed Riyadh, of Pakistain's concerns about funding to Madrassas from Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Official sources in Saudi Embassy said that a letter summarizing the concerns about the funding to some of the Pak religious seminary was sent to the concerned authorities, in Saudi Arabia.

The acting ambassador doesn't want to issue a policy statement in this connection as appointment of the new ambassador is awaited, the sources added. "And soon a policy statement would be shared with the media in this connection," a diplomat said on condition of anonymity.

State Minister for Education Mian Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman told sources the other day that funding from Saudi Arabia, would flow to any institution through government of Pakistain. "Permission of the government would be mandatory," he said.

The issue of financing of madrassas by Saudi Arabia was making rounds in the sessions of the parliament this week.

Recently, Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) Riaz Hussain Pirzada severely criticized the Saudi funding to Madrassas in Pakistain, though latter, he amended his words.

A US diplomatic cable, published by WikiLeaks said financial support estimated at $100 million a year was making its way from those Gulf Arab states to an krazed killer recruitment network in Pakistain's Punjab

2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
King Abdullah's military experience
Jordan's King Abdullah II, a former commander of his country's special forces, angrily vowed to bombard the Islamic State until his military runs "out of fuel and bullets" after the release of a brutal video showing a captured Jordanian airman being burned alive in a cage.

The official Facebook page of The Royal Hashemite Court published a photo showing Jordan's leader dressed in military fatigues. The same photo was published on the king's instagram account eight months ago.

Jordan has carried out airstrikes against the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS or ISIL, in Mosul.

The Jordanian government has denied rumors the king was physically involved in aerial attacks.

Dubbed the "warrior king," Jordan's leader has clocked in 35 years of military service.

According to the king's bio, he enrolled in the UK's Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in 1980 and went on to become an elite Cobra attack helicopter pilot.

The Washington Examiner carried this amazing snippet from US congressmen who visited Abdullah in Jordan as part of an official trip:

"He said there is going to be retribution like ISIS hasn't seen," said Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter Jr., a Marine Corps veteran of two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, who was in the meeting with the king. "He mentioned 'Unforgiven' and he mentioned Clint Eastwood, and he actually quoted a part of the movie."

Hunter would not say which part of "Unforgiven" the king quoted, but noted it was where Eastwood's character describes how he is going to deliver his retribution. There is a scene in the picture in which Eastwood's character, William Munny, says, "Any man I see out there, I'm gonna kill him. Any son of a bitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only going to kill him, I'm going to kill his wife and all his friends and burn his damn house down."

Beyond airstrikes, Jordan could further contribute to the fight against ISIS through the use of its extremely effective special forces units.

Jordan's special forces team, grouped under Jordan's Joint Special Operations Command, is 14,000 strong and is one of the most effective fighting and intelligence forces in the region. Jordanian special forces frequently train alongside US forces.

Israel, Jordan leaders confer after IS murder of pilot
[Al Ahram] Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Thursday by telephone to King Abdullah II, the premier's office said, apparently their first contact since Jordan announced its ambassador was returning to Tel Aviv.

"Prime Minister Netanyahu extended his condolences to the King and to the Jordanian people" over the murder of a Jordanian air force pilot by the Islamic State

group, a statement said.

Netanyahu "noted the importance of the Jordanian ambassador's return to Israel and of the joint commitment to maintaining the status quo at the holy sites" in east Jerusalem, it said.

On Monday, Amman announced that its envoy would return to his post in Tel Aviv three months after being recalled over the Israeli violations at Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

Jordan recalled Walid Obeidat on November 5 after the Israeli forces clashed with Paleostinians inside the flashpoint Al-Aqsa compound, with Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh describing Israeli actions as "violations" and "way beyond the limits".

Jordan said the decision to return Obeidat to Israel comes after the government "felt that the situation (at Al-Aqsa) is in the right direction".

...a co-founder of Hamas and a member of the Hamas leadership. Since 2006, Warty Nose has served as foreign minister in the government of Ismail Haniyeh. He is considered one of the more stubborn hard-liners and has no objection to kissing the Persian foot to keep the money flowing. Warty Nose's son, a member of the Qassam Brigades, was killed in an Israeli raid in early 2008. Another one was disposed of when the IDF bombed his house in 2003...
said in the Gazoo Strip on Wednesday that branches of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' armed wing, in both countries should strike the occupying regime of Israel "to help us liberate Paleostine", AFP reported on Thursday.

He also denied reports of the resistance group's involvement in a recent attack by in Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula, adding, "our guns are always trained on the [Israeli] enemy."

Israel launched a 50-day war on Gazoo last summer that killed more than 2,200 Paleostinians, including 577 children, and 73 people on the Israeli side, most of them soldiers.

Israel unleashed aerial attacks on Gazoo in early July 2014 and later expanded its military campaign with a ground invasion of the Paleostinian coastal enclave. The war ended in late August 2014 with an Egyptian-brokered truce.

In final video, Jordanian pilot said he was shot down, contradicting U.S. account
IRBIL, Iraq — The 22-minute video released Tuesday by the Islamic State depicting the brutal death by immolation of a captured Jordanian pilot includes a long and detailed account by Lt. Moaz al Kasasbeh of his last mission as well as a general outline of the contributions of Arab countries to the U.S.-led anti-Islamic State coalition.

In the video, Kasasbeh said he ejected from his aircraft over Raqqa, Syria, after it was hit by anti-aircraft fire, disabling his F-16’s single engine. That detail contradicts American statements at the time, which said there was no evidence his plane had been shot down.

It is difficult to judge the accuracy of Kasasbeh’s statements. He was no doubt speaking under duress, dressed in the orange jumpsuit that has become the hallmark of prisoners the Islamic State is about to put to death and with an obvious bruise under his left eye. But his account of the mission is consistent with what is known about Arab militaries generally and conforms to military practice. If accurate, it would be the first detailed accounting of an Arab bombing mission over Syria.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Obama to Seek War Authorization From Congress
President Obama will be asking Congress to authorize military action against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, probably by the end of the week, the Washington newspaper The Hill reported Wednesday night. The request is expected to come just days after the latest ISIS outrage, the release of a video showing a Jordanian pilot being burned alive. Over the past several months the Islamic militants have released videos showing their beheadings of three Americans, two British citizens, and two Japanese.

“I do think it’s forthcoming,” Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, told The Hill. Corker said he would be surprised and “disappointed actually” if a war authorization request from the White House is “not here by the end of next week. And maybe sooner.” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Wednesday that work was proceeding on developing a request for Authorization of the Use of Military Force “that could earn bipartisan support.”

Ditto support for a wider or broader US ground role = anti-ISIS campaign from Lindsey Graham.

Essentially. It's going to a lame-duck Congress, but the GOP-dominated next Congress will be the one getting the blame.

Former White House Official: Administration Committed to Empowering Iran to Stabilize Region
The president has also shown deference to Iran when forming policy to counter the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Doran recounts that in a Senate hearing, Secretary of State John Kerry was asked about weaknesses in the administration’s plan for fighting ISIS, and suggested that Iran and Syria could help:

Kerry stunningly suggested that the gaps would be filled by . . . Iran and Assad. “[Y]ou’re presuming that Iran and Syria don’t have any capacity to take on” Islamic State, Kerry said. “If we are failing and failing miserably, who knows what choice they might make.”

#1  OMFG, has everyone in the State Department had a frontal lobotomy?

Iran??? With Nukes??? Stabilizing influence???

You know, had youknowwho and his "brain trust" spent some time studying the dynamic of the region, a good solid democracy of a sorts in Iraq with the requisite relative affluence could have been a better choice.

#2  Once again, thats Globalist-desired, "US-style", Nuclear, OWG "Co-Superpower" Iran to you + me.

* TOPIX, WORLD NEWS > IRAN THREATENS TO EXPAND NUCLEAR ENRICHMENT PROCESS IFF WEST PURSUES SANCTIONS.

* FREEREPUBLIC > IRAN: WEST IS "BEGGING FOR A NUCLEAR DEAL" WITH US.

OTOH, the Globies S-T-I-L-L have N-O-T answered the Maha-Rushian question as to just how far is "too far" for the Sole Superpower USA to unilaterally voluntarily fall back or pull back across the World, how much Power-N-Influence/Authority is "too much" to give up in the name of "fair-n-Balanced = Equalist = Par OWG-NWO = Space/Star Govt-Order + Globalism.

ARE ISIS THREATS TO ATTACK THE US-WEST
"GLOBALISM", OR NOT "GLOBALISM"???

* FYI FREEREPUBLIC > [Commentary] THE US, FRANCE, + GERMANY TO PUTIN: WORLD IS TOO WEAK TO STOP YOU.

Is the OWG Globalism-minded US-NATO/EU + World "too weak" to stop PUTINIST RUSSIA = RISING CHINA = RISING IRAN = ... ...???

* MANILA TIMES > PINOY ORDERED AFP, SAF TO STAND DOWN; + AQUINO ORDERS SAF OPERATION, THEN ABANDONS HIS TROOPS.

PHIL = US, Aquino = POTUS Obama + violating his own "red lines"???

VERSUS

* TOPIX > [Daily Caller] ISIS MAY BE SUCCEEDING, BUT ONLY FOR AS LONG AS US POLITICAL LEADERSHIP ALLOWS IT.

Yuuup - see above.

* BIGNEWSNETWORK > [Guardian.UK] CAN OBAMA HALT [meet = recover] YEARS OF UNMET NATIONAL SECURITY PROMISES BEFORE ITS TOO LATE?

A hallmark.

Without Iran's influence, there would be no daesh.
They feed off eachother, can't you see this?

You took Iraq from Iraq and gave it and Yemen and Syria and gave it to Iran.

#7  Sort of like empowering Mr. Hitler as a bulwark against Bolshevism in the European region (circa 1938)?

Only if Roosevelt had been an America First-er.

#8  'Stability' in this context means that Iran will be able to subjugate and pacify regions in its extended neighborhood and to suppress opposition to theocracy domestically.

If that happens Iran will be free to project power elsewhere.

Why should a mortal enemy's 'stability' per se even be desirable outcome?

You know, had youknowwho and his "brain trust" spent some time studying the dynamic of the region, a good solid democracy of a sorts in Iraq with the requisite relative affluence could have been a better choice.

That 'youknowho' is on God Damn America's side is an assumption not supported by evidence.
