[FOXNEWS] A crackdown on an alleged fraud operation in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, involving unemployment benefits has resulted in the arrests of 27 suspects, authorities said Wednesday.
Under the investigation in Torrance — about 21 miles south of downtown Los Angeles — authorities confiscated 130 debit cards issued by the state Employment Development Department (EDD) as well as $150,000 in cash and four handguns, KCBS-TV of Los Angeles reported.
"Most debit cards were issued in third parties’ names, including identity theft victims, with a value of up to $20,000," Torrance police Sgt. Alexander Martinez told the station. "The suspects possessed numerous cards and would often use the cards to make high-end purchases and make cash withdrawals from ATMs."
The arrests have occurred since Sept. 10, the report said.
Authorties asked that anyone who received a letter from the EDD despite not applying for benefits call their local police department, KCBS-TV reported.
Financial losses were suffered by the state, not individuals, the Daily Breeze of Hermosa Beach reported.

China will promote Taiwan’s reunification with the mainland and peaceful cross-straits development, according to a meeting of the leadership of China’s ruling Communist Party.https://t.co/SgE5F44ntP

China called Hong Kong a special territory or something. They should just do the same with Taiwan. Open up relations and pretend that are part of China. Then put money into puppet politicians to slowly move public opinion in Taiwan. then one day Taiwan wakes up and they are part of the PRC and applauding the unified China and don't even realize what happened.

I'm thinking a high likelyhood of the CCP making a move on Taiwan at close of polls here in the US, assuming the street violence materializes here.
If Trumps is the winner, they figure he'll have too much on his plate here to pry them loose there.
If Biden wins, they'll get a pass.

ed in Texas, how? an invasion of that magnitude would have been visible months ago. All they can hope for is destroying Tiawan as far as I can tell.

Long, and interesting. Science a hundred years ago was more simple, and crude. Seems like, 100 years ago, many 'additives' help the immune response.

Lockdown just delays herd immunity and the relief that brings.
group punishment Lockdown just isolates the elderly longer as the virus will inevitably re-emerge for another moar biggar tier N+1 lockdown which will do nothing.
Those under 50 (who do not bubble with those at risk) should be ENCOURAGED out and self vaccinate, 86% of them won't even know they caught it.

The Chinese pandemic gave birth to two new --- IMO, totally irrational --- movements in USA: Antifa & Covid sceptics. Both groups would, vehemently, reject any claims of resemblance between them. However, IMO, both groups posses startling similarities.
(1) Psychological origins --- both comprised of people whose self-image: their sense of their own importance --- was shaken by the pandemic.
(2) Both groups rely on pseudoscientific theories: systemic racism for Antifa; and Herd Immunity for the other.
(3) Both constantly provide fake evidence produced for their respective markets by would be celebrity "scientists". We know that most social "scientists" are scumvermin, but it's sad to see how many renegades where are among biologists, and how many narrow specialization MD think they're universal experts.
(4) The only difference, IMO, is that Antifa (being, on average, younger & more drugged) have the courage of their convictions - whereas the covid deniers wear masks, practice distancing, and express their frustrations via verbal violence on sites like Rantburg.
Well, we know Antifa hurt their side's election chances - lets hope that the damage done to Trump by "covid sceptics" is nullified by the Antifa effect on Demonrats.
Mind you, if Trump wins, "covid sceptics" just might discover that he made 180 degree turn on covid, and will follow European examples.
Meanwhile, I'm just happy I live in Israel - where enforcement* of mask rules cut covid infection rates by order of magnitude in 3 weeks.
*Enforcement is really the key - because there are too many people uncapable of thinking beyond immediate gratification in modern western societies.

#7 Well I already had it.
Ahh, that's why you have this irrational need to believe in Herd Immunity.
But I would volunteer to stay near COVID infected.
Well, keep exposing yourself, and you'll provide evidence for reinfection --- just keep in mind, that most reported reinfections appear to be more severe than the primary one (you might want to read up on Th1/Th2 cross-regulation).
Wouldn't go near the vaccine though.
With the way things going - thanks largely to covid sceptics - I suspect nobody will be asking for your consent (You might want to click on this link).

You can always tell the authoritarians. They want to punish any skepticism from their delivered "Truth™". Nobody argues flat earth here, fool, but you have to throw that straw man in to buttress your "argument". You win no converts with that charming personality trait

I have never taken a flu shot, and I sure as egesta won't take a vaccine voluntarily.

Well, we're going trick-or-treating and by the sound of it, the community is as well. Have a wicked cool wooden cane accented by a carved fox head on the handle I'm going to build around.

I'm surprised proponents of Herd Immunity do not volunteer to be deliberately infected.
Grom, that's pretty much what my wife has done (and thus carried me along.) She tried the lockdown for a couple of months and decided she'd probably die of depression if she continued, so she switched to moderate interaction.

But there is no herd immunity - coronaviruses don't induce long term memory: you can, probably, find it even in wikipedia. In this, pop-sci, paper for sure: 35 Years of Research Into Coronavirus Infections Show Long-Term Immunity Is Unlikely. And the data from other coronaviruses has been now confirmed by covid19 reinfections.
So, you better wait until Eli Lilly or Regeneron monoclonal antibodies become available
It was
A long, long time ago
And I can still remember
How Aramis Katzarse used to make me sigh
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make my keyboard dance
And maybe he'd just shut up
For a while
But the east Med`s isles did achibber
With every missive he delibbered
Bad news in the in-box
Green horse poop
Day-old socks
And I can`t remember how I fared
When about his threads
I ceased to care
But something calmed me deep inside
The day his comments died

C'est possible. But with all of the China bashing due to COVID-19, I'd be curious how cooperative the Chinese will be. Of course, Monty Hall might make a deal....

"Air Force Two" is simply the call sign for any US military etc. aircraft that the vice president is travelling on. Those planes do have at a minimum certain comms capability in case of an emergency that takes POTUS offline.
As a result they are sometimes used by Sec State on official travel OCONUS as well.
