15 killed in clashes in southern Somalia
[Iran Press TV] At least 15 people have lost their lives in heavy clashes between Somali government troops and al-Shabaab fighters in the southern part of the country near the border with Kenya.

The fighting started on Saturday and by Sunday night at least one town, Belet Hawo, had switched hands, with government forces pushing out the hard boys.

Somalia's Ministry of Information said that 11 al-Shabaab fighters and one government soldier were killed in the fighting. A witness said at least three non-combatants were killed in the clashes.

Somali pirates free ship for ransom
Somali pirates have released the Panama-flagged bulk ship MV Voc Daisy along with its crew of 21 from the Philippines. The Liberian-owned vessel with deadweight of 47,183 metric tons was hijacked approximately 190 miles southeast of the Omani port of Salalah on April 21.

The ship was freed on Saturday after the delivery of a ransom "by a vessel believed to belong to a Greek security company operating in the area with two ships," said George Shinitis, the CEO of the Greek shipping company JP Samartzis Maritime Enterprises, AFP reported Monday.
Apparently no one thought to call the Panamanian Navy ...
The international maritime body Ecoterra International said on Monday that the Somali pirates are holding at least 26 foreign vessels plus one barge and at least 474 seafarers.

However,
The infamous However...
the European Union Naval Force Somalia says the Somali pirates are currently holding 19 vessels, including the latest South Korean vessel.

The waters off the Indian Ocean coast of Somalia are considered the world's most dangerous due to persistent piracy attempts in the area.

The Gulf of Aden, which links the Indian Ocean with the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea, is the quickest route for more than 20,000 vessels traveling from Asia to Europe and the Americas.

However,
Another infamous However...
attacks by the heavily armed Somali pirates in speedboats have prompted some of the world's largest shipping firms to switch routes from the Suez Canal and send cargo vessels around southern Africa, causing a hike in shipping costs.

#1  Apparently no one thought to call the Panamanian Navy

They may have, but when your entire "NAVY" consists of a dozen coast-guard-type vessels and about 40 customs launches, it's not going to do much good. We need a concerted Special Ops/Navy SEAL attack on Haradhere to rescue all the hostages, then a couple of dozen ARCLIGHT strikes down through the heart of the "town" and off the coast to discourage future pirates. Until we're WILLING to do something like that, the piracy will continue. That's what we did in the early 1800's, and it worked for over 100 years. It's about time to do it again.

Arabia
Wanted Saudi militant turns himself in from Pakistan
[Al Arabiya] A Saudi bad turban on an Interpol wanted list surrendered to security authorities after asking to be sent home from Pakistain, the interior ministry said Tuesday.

Bader Mohammed Nasser al-Shehri, one of 85 men on a Saudi list of alleged Islamic gunnies sent to Interpol in February 2009, contacted the authorities from Pakistain via his family, asking to return home, the ministry said in a statement on the official SPA news agency. The ministry statement did not say what Shehri, 32, was doing in Pakistain.
Dodging missiles would be my guess...
Ministry front man General Mansour al-Turki said he is suspected of working with al-Qaeda.
Golly. Gosh. Y'think?
"He contacted his family asking for help to return," Turki told AFP.
"Hi, Mom! I'm in Lakki Marwat. Can you wire me bus fare?"
"We will find out now where he was and what he was doing."
"Surely it was all innocent. He was probably teaching the Koran to the locals."
Shehri's return reduced the number of outstanding bandidos on the list to 71, according to Turki. Six have turned themselves in, six have been killed, and two were jugged.

It was the second announcement in a week of one of the desperados giving themselves up to Saudi Arabia.

On Friday the interior ministry said Jaber Jabran al-Faifi, an former Guantanamo detainee who rejoined al-Qaeda in Yemen after graduating from Saudi Arabia's rehabilitation program, turned himself in through Yemen's authorities.
No telling what organization he's gonna join when he'd done with his rehab this time. It probably won't be the Lions or Rotary, though.
Turki said he did not know if there was a link between the return of either of the two men and a warning the Saudis passed on to European intelligence agencies recently about an al-Qaeda threat to Europe and France in particular.

Bangladesh
Fresh attack on Ahmadiyyas
[Bangla Daily Star] Two Ahmadiyyas were seriously injured and four houses vandalised in a fresh attack on the Ahmadiyya Mohammedan Jamaat community by religious bigots in Ghatail upazila of Tangail on Monday afternoon.

The injured, Shamsul Haque Akanda, 60, and his wife Hasna Banu, 50, of Chandtara village of the upazila were taken to Tangail General Hospital. Hasna was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) a few hours later as her conditions became more critical.

"About 12 to 15 hard boyz led by one Sattar stormed into our house at 5:00pm and attacked us with sharp weapons," Shamsul Haque told The Daily Star as he lay on his hospital bed.

"They also ransacked three other adjacent houses of our community," he added.

Mominur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Ghatail Police Station, said Hasan Ali, son of the injured couple, has filed a case in this regard accusing 15 people though none have been jugged so far.

"Additional police personnel have been deployed at the village," he added.

Earlier, in June and August this year, 20 people were maimed and 30 houses including a makeshift mosque were damaged in a series of attacks by the bigots centering construction of an Ahmadiyya mosque in Chandtara village.

Following the attack and looting incidents in August, Khalilur Rahman Akanda, a long-suffering Ahmadiyya of the village, filed a case accusing 56 locals of harassing members of his community.

"Since filing the case, the accused had been threatening the local Ahmadiyyas saying that they will attack us again once they got bail," said Rubel Hossain Akanda, nephew of the injured couple.

"Of the accused, 55 surrendered in a Tangail court and got bail," he added.

A section of locals under the banner of "Imam Parishad" have long been campaigning against 40 Ahmadiyya families in the village.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad founded the movement Ahmadiyya Mohammedan Jama'at on March 23, 1889, envisioning it to be a revitalisation of Islam. Ahmadiyyas consider themselves as Mohammedans and claim to practice Islam in its pristine form.
Whereas "real" Muslims in pius Muslim countries know the Ahmadiyyas are nothing but bloody heretics so far gone they've taken themselves into kufr territory, and are therefore nothing more than sheep for shearing/grain for harvesting/apostates for killing. It's only here in Dar Al Harb that the Ahmadiyyas can consider themselves as Muslim as the rest... and even go door to door explaining that violent jihad is not an inherently Muslim trait.

Britain
Captain Hook fights to keep British passport
(KUNA) -- Holy man Abu Hamza was continuing his legal fight to hang on to his British passport Tuesday, his lawyer said. UK Home Secretary Theresa May wants to strip the lunatic holy man of his UK citizenship.

However,
The infamous However...
Hamza has appealed to a special tribunal to overturn the decision and Tuesday's preliminary hearing is expected to focus on whether he has joint UK and Egyptian citizenship.

The 52-year-old is currently in jail as he challenges attempts to extradite him to the United States on terror charges.

That case was delayed by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in July, which called for further submissions over the length of his sentence and the conditions he would experience if extradited to ADX Florence, a so-called "Supermax" prison in Fremont County, Colorado.

Hamza's mouthpiece, Amanda Weston, told a hearing of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (Siac) last January that her client wanted the citizenship case heard while he was still in the UK and "able to participate in proceedings." However,
Another infamous However...
James Strachan, for the Home Office, said the case should be put off until after the Strasbourg ruling.

Hamza came here from north Africa in the early 1980s on a student visa and acquired a British passport through marriage. He was jailed for seven years in February 2006 for inciting murder and race hatred. Attempts to take his passport away were launched in 2003, but were delayed by other legal actions against him.

Revoking his citizenship might allow the authorities to deport Hamza if his court fight against extradition is successful. Tuesday's hearing in central London is expected to take three days, the lawyer added.

Report: Suspect in Dubai Hamas assassination arrested in Canada
[Haaretz] A suspect in the Dubai assassination of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh has been jugged in Canada, a newspaper in the United Arab Emirates reported Tuesday.

The Al-Itihad daily quoted the head of the Dubai police force, Dahi Khalfan Tamim, as saying that the detainee is connected to another main suspect, who was caught on surveillance footage with al- Mabhouh inside an elevator.

A week earlier, Tamim - who is in charge of the investigation into the January murder - had announced that the suspect was jugged in a "Western" state, without naming the country.

Dubai authorities have used closed-circuit television footage to identify suspects in the killing. They say the assassination was most probably carried out by a large hit squad from Mossad, Israel's intelligence agency.

The murder of the Hamas official sparked international outrage, as citizens from several nations - including Germany, Ireland and France - had their identities stolen by the perpetrators, who traveled to the UAE to carry out the murder.

In June, suspected Israeli intelligence agent Uri Brodsky was jugged in the Polish capital Warsaw on a German arrest warrant for alleged involvement in passport fraud in relation to the case.

Four convicted over NY bomb plot
[Al Jazeera] A US court has found four men guilty of placing bombs outside synagogues in New York and plotting to fire missiles at military planes.

The four defendants - Onta Williams, Laguerre Payen, James Cromitie and David Williams IV - face up to life in prison following their trial in Manhattan federal court on Monday.

The men were jugged in a sting operation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in May 2009, as they planted what they thought were bombs in two cars parked outside synagogues in New York City's Bronx borough, US prosecutors said.

Defence lawyers said the men were not guilty because they were entrapped in a plan devised by the FBI and orchestrated by the confidential informant, Shahed Hussein.
But the fact remains that they didn't have to plant bombs, doesn't it?
In addition to planting the bombs, the four intended to shoot down military planes at an Air National Guard base in Newburgh, New York, with stinger surface-to-air missiles, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Cromitie, accused of recruiting the three others, was motivated by anti-Semitism and wanted to participate in jihad.

Cromitie and David Williams were found guilty on all eight charges. The other two defendants - Onta Williams and Payen - were found not guilty on one of the lesser charges of attempting to murder officers and employees of the United States.

'Homegrown terrorism'
Vincent Briccetti, Cromitie's mouthpiece, declined to comment on the verdict. Susanne Brody, who represented Onta Williams, said the trial was a "miscarriage of justice". Lawyers indicated in court they will file a motion to have the verdict dismissed. An entrapment defence resulting in acquittal is extremely rare in federal terrorism-related cases.

"Homegrown terrorism is a serious threat, and today's convictions affirm our commitment to do everything we can to protect against it," Preet Bharara, a Manhattan US attorney, said in a statement. "The defendants in this case agreed to plant bombs and use missiles they thought were very real weapons of terrorism."

Al Jizz's Kristen Saloomey, reporting from New York, said "the verdict came after a lengthy trial that involved hundreds of hours of video tape evidence that showed these four men meeting, plotting and even planting the bombs outside the synagogue".

"They also purchased what they thought were stinger missiles, but as it turns out the bombs and the missiles were, in fact, fake and supplied by the FBI as part of this elaborate sting operation - which the defence argues was illegal," she said.

The trial opened in late August and jury deliberations began on October 6. The charges included conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction and conspiracy to acquire and use anti-aircraft missiles. Sentencing was set for March 24.

Dallas Bombing Plotter Hosam Smadi: 24 years in Prison then Deportation
A federal judge today sentenced a Jordanian national who tried to blow up a downtown Dallas skyscraper to 24 years in prison, mostly rejecting defense claims that he was mentally ill and unduly influenced by law enforcement agents.
That's all they had? Didn't they read the al-Qaeda manual on how to twist the legal processes of the infidels?
Hosam "Sam" Smadi faced up to 30 years in prison under a plea agreement accepted by U.S. District Judge Barbara Lynn. He will be deported to Jordan once he serves his time.

"I can't for the life of me figure out what moved you in this direction," the judge said in delivering the sentence.
His religious beliefs? Start with the simplest explanation and work from there, your honor.
"You got some encouragement along the way," she added, referring to FBI agents' interactions with Smadi, "but your actions were yours."
The FBI didn't encourage him to do something he was dead set against doing ...

Mosque siege ends in Kashmir
[Straits Times] A 24-HOUR standoff in Indian Kashmir between troops and an injured turban who was holed up inside a mosque ended on Tuesday with the bad boy going titzup, coppers said.

Police said repeated attempts to persuade the hard boy to give up had failed. He took refuge in the mosque early on Monday, having been injured in a gunbattle with Indian troops.

'He died of the injuries he had sustained during the encounter. The mosque was not stormed by the troops nor was any fire directed at the religious structure,' a police officer said, wishing to remain anonymous.

The gunbattle outside the mosque in the northern district of Bandipora had left one other bad boy beyond all cares and woe.

Militants have regularly taken shelter in Kashmiri mosques in the past, with security forces facing the risk of tedious riots in the state if they pursue them.

Militants torch NATO trucks in Pakistan
[Iran Press TV] Pak bully boyz have torched tankers carrying supplies to the US-led foreign troops stationed in Afghanistan for the second time in less than 24 hours.

Police say the gunnies targeted two vehicles in Dasht Bado town in Pakistain's southwestern Baluchistan province on Tuesday.

The attack comes a day after three NATO supply trucks were set on fire in the same province.

Two men riding a cycle of violence set fire to the tankers after "forcing the drivers and their helpers to leave," Rooters quoted a police official as saying.

Dozens of NATO supply tankers and trucks have been set on fire in Pakistain this month.

Pro-Talibs usually claim responsibility for such attacks. They argue that the assaults are in retaliation for non-UN-sanctioned US dronezaps on Pakistain's tribal region.

Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistain bully boyz have stepped up attacks on convoys carrying supplies for US-led forces.

NATO helicopters violate Pakistan airspace for 3rd time
(KUNA) -- NATO helicopters on Tuesday again violated Pakistains airspace, the third incident of such kind since 30th September, said officials.

Two NATO planes and one copter crossed ten to 12 kilometers inside Pak territorial air space in Khyber tribal agency and went back after a while, security officials told KUNA.

This was the third airspace violation by NATO that has come amid renewed but old reports that Osama Bin Laden, the chief of Al-Qaeda organization, is hiding in northwestern region of Pakistain. Pak Interior Minister Rehman Malik categorically rejected the report and said that "Bin Laden ... and all other beturbanned goons are anti-Islam and anti-Pakistain and hired assassins. If we have any information we will take action against them." In the first airspace violation by NATO helicopters on September 30th, three Pak Army soldiers were killed and two were maimed. In protest to the killings, Pakistain closed down all supply routes for NATO forces in Afghanistan. Eventually, the US apologized for the incident and Islamabad, subsequently, reopened the routes.

#1  Maybe Pakistan should declare war, or kick Al-Qaeda out.

If you are going to allow terrorist to reside in your boarders don't be surprised when more civilized nations come knocking and asking questions.

#4  Well, Pakistan violated US airspace a while back, I seem to recall. We really haven't done anything about it, either.

 Kasab spits on camera
[Geo TV] Ajmal Kasab, on Tuesday spat on a webcam during hearing in Bombay High Court on confirmation of his death sentence, prompting the judges to sternly tell him to behave properly.

Judjes gave the warning when they saw Kasab arguing with coppers and spitting on the camera during the video conference, specially arranged for him to hear the 26/11 case in which he was earlier convicted.

Later, Kasab walked away in a huff following which the judges remarked, "spitting is not expected (of him)...he (Kasab) has walked out on his own and the court cannot help it."

Violence claims 15 lives in Karachi
(KUNA) -- More than fifteen people were killed and an equal number of others were maimed Tuesday evening in shooting incidents in Pakistain's southern port city of Karachi, said police.

Unknown gunnies, riding three cycles of violence, opened indiscriminate fire in Sher Shah Market of the city, killing at least twelve and wounding about ten others. Police sources told KUNA that the shooting triggered a stampede in the busy market that further maimed several people.

Local news channels showed rescuers rushing the maimed to nearby hospitals and heavy police deployment at the site. Earlier in the morning, three more people were killed in target-killing incidents in several parts of the city.

The incident led to closure of markets and bazaars and high security alert in the city.

Shermila Farooqi, a provincial minister, condemning the incident, said that security was on high alert to bring the situation under control. She said police has jugged several suspects in this regard.

Security situation of Karachi, Pakistains economic jugular vein, deteriorated last week as by-elections for a provincial assembly seat were scheduled for Saturday. Although, the election went as per schedule and Muhajir-dominated Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) won the seat, the security situation remains precarious in the city. More than sixty people have been killed since last week and over a hundred others are said to be maimed.

Iraq
Several die in northern Iraq blasts
At least 11 people have been killed after blasts destroyed the home of a senior Iraqi police commander in Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit.

The attackers bravely planted bombs and left a booby-trapped cycle of violence near the house of Lieutenant-Colonel Qais Farhan, commander of the emergency response unit of Tikrit, police major Dawood Sulaiman told the Rooters news agency on Tuesday.

He said four people were also maimed in the kaboom, including Farhan. The dead included three children and four women, all of them relatives of the police commander.
... which makes them fair game to Islamists...
The News Agency that Dare Not be Named (AP) news agency said the dead included Farhan's six-month-old nephew and the baby's parents.

Three other family members - Farhan's mother, brother and sister - also were killed, Colonel Khalid Jassim of the Tikrit police, said.

Police, soldiers and civil defence forces searched for victims under the rubble.

Meanwhile,
...back at the ranch...
in Samarra, 95km north of the capital, Storied Baghdad, a roadside kaboom struck a police patrol, killing two coppers and wounding two others, while in Baghdad two bombs planted in buses maimed 15 Iranian pilgrims, officials said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the other ranch...
an Iraqi military general said he will investigate his troops in connection with the alleged beating of two journalists a day earlier. Two AP journalists were among those assaulted by Iraqi soldiers while trying to cover a Monday morning bombing that killed a Baghdad provincial council member. An AP Television News cameraman had his foot broken while soldiers punched and kicked an AP photographer.

Roadside bomb hits convoy of UN envoy in Iraq
[Al Arabiya] UN Iraq envoy Ad Melkert beat feet an apparent assassination attempt on Tuesday when assailants bombed a convoy of vehicles that had left him at Najaf airport, south of Storied Baghdad, a U.N. spokeswoman and police said.

Iraqi police officials said the bomb damaged the second-to-last vehicle in the U.N.-Iraqi police convoy as it was leaving the Shiite holy city of Najaf, 160 km (100 miles) south of Baghdad, killing one policeman and wounding three. "The special representative was in the convoy. He is unhurt. He is fine," the U.N. spokeswoman said. "We cannot speculate on what was the motive."

Officials in Najaf said Melkert was in town for a visit to Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Iraq's most revered Shiite Mohammedan holy man.

After the meeting, Melkert urged Iraq's politicians to sit down and negotiate the formation of a coalition government without further delay, seven months after an inconclusive election yielded no outright winner, Sistani's office said.

Blast in Gaza Hamas compound injures children
red-wire, green-wire training? Again, Hamas, always the sweet voice of reason, is storing weapons and 'splodeys in civilian areas. Hilarity ensues
Update from the Jerusalem Post:
A powerful explosion ripped through a Hamas Kassam rocket training site in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, the Ma'an news agency reported. The blast shook through the densely crowded Tel As-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah. Hamas said thirteen people were injured during the explosion, including five children and three women, all by flying glass shrapnel.
So yes, red wire/green wire training. Good call from the engineer.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
12 Israeli jets violate Lebanon airspace
[Iran Press TV] The Lebanese army says 12 Israeli fighter jets have entered the country's airspace in violation of the international law.

The army said in a statement on Tuesday that the jets flew over several areas in southern Leb, including the city of Sidon, a Press TV correspondent in Beirut reported.

The overflights contravene United Nations, aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society Security Council Resolution 1701, which obliges Israel to keep out of Leb's airspace.

Israel, however, violates Leb's airspace on an almost daily basis, claiming they serve surveillance purposes.

According to evidence submitted to the UN by the Lebanese government, Israel has breached the provisions of the resolution on more than 7,000 occasions by violating Leb's airspace, territorial waters, and border.
