It's time to preach against attacks in Egypt
[The Nation (Nairobi)] This year began inauspiciously in Egypt. An Islamic Death Eater took an explosive flight to Paradise on New Year's morning outside a Coptic church in Alexandria.

The blast killed 23 and injured scores. It also triggered protests and riots in several Egyptian towns, the most violent in a Cairo's predominantly Coptic neighbourhood.

Most people saw a pattern in the Cairo bombing and those in Nigeria on Christmas Eve and in Storied Baghdad late November.

The number of casualties isn't the most important. The acts are scary enough. "Mohammedans Kill Christians!" et al, headlines screamed.

Explanations followed. A former Lebanese and Christian president told US-based broadcast network, CBS, "What is happening to Christians is genocide."

In Caliphornia, USA, a Christian do-gooder added a new vocabulary to the English language, religio-cide.

The above examples are as profound as "The West is Waging War on Islam!" shouts often heard outside some mosques. The real issue is otherwise.

In his New Year's message, Pope Benedict put the tragedies in context. The part relevant here is, "I implore all men and women of good will to renew their commitments to building a world where all are free to profess their religion or faith..."

He forgot "lack of either." Anyway, religious tolerance worldwide remains in short supply.

The Pope veered to partisanship. "At present, Christians are the religious group which suffers most from persecution on account of faith." Undoubtedly, the Vatican has enough resources to ascertain that.

However,
The infamous However...
it's worthy of note that in predominantly Mohammedan countries, minority sects can only murmur. Violence between Shiite and Sunni isn't uncommon. Whichever group is a minority can lament a la the Pope. The Shiite in Soddy Arabia will testify to that.

Attacks against Copts angers Christendom. At around 10 per cent of Egypt's 80-million population, they are the largest Christian minority in the Middle East. Their role in early Christianity is unrivalled. Since the 641 A.D. Arab conquest of Egypt, their misfortunes--forceful conversion to Islam included--and misfortunes, have risen and fallen. They were on the rise until President Abdel Nasser perfected his Pan-Arab policies.

The Copts are now a discontented lot. Protests against the bombings included manifestations of that discontent.

Forgotten in Christendom is that Arab Mohammedans who loathe attacks and policies against fellow citizens on accounts of different faiths exist.

Coptic Bishop Yohannes Zakaria of Luxor, Egypt, for example, is on record saying many Mohammedans, including the local governor, consoled him after the Cairo bombings.

Some Mohammedans in Cairo held vigil as Copts celebrated the Gregorian calendar Christmas on Thursday. Governments in predominantly Mohammedan countries need note that they have a problem--citizens killing fellow citizens--and stymie the trend.

Maronite Bishop Bechara Rai of Jbeil, Leb, called for the Islamic Conference and the vaporous Arab League summits to address the issue.

That's a long shot. Besides, the gatherings might turn into anti-Zionists choruses, a self-denial of enemies "among us."

Ultimately, though, the burden lies with Mohammedan holy mans and scholars. They need to aggressively educate the faithful on tenets of Islam and guide them away from "Kill! Kill!" advocates of half-baked beliefs.

#1  They need to aggressively educate the faithful on tenets of Islam and guide them away from "Kill! Kill!" advocates of half-baked beliefs

Which, of course begs the question. The unproven assumption being that the tenets of Islam aren't the origin of the "Kill! Kill!" advocates.

But then we know that, don't we?

#2  Iff the US does not, as China desires, fully withdraw its Milfors from both the ROK + Japan, in exchange for China's consent to DPRK-ROK Integration + ultimately formal Reunification, the US will be PCorrectly blamed engaging in REGIONAL "IMPERIALISM" + NORTH KOREA'S CONTINUING ECON TROUBLES + LACK OF "REAL PROGRESS" IN INTER-KOREAN RELATIONS.

And of course any breakout of DPRK-ROK = REGIONAL WAR.

Again, CHINA = sees itself as the "SOLE" SUCCESOR OR HEIR TO POST-US GLOBAL SUPERPOWER LEADERSHIP, NOT "JOINT". IT WANTS ITS "GREAT POWER", "WARM-WATER" OVERSEAS TRADE, AIR-NAVAL PORTS [Space?] VEE THE "FIRST ISLAND CHAIN".

The Case for Comprehensive Missile Defense in Asia
Long piece from the Heritage Foundation about establishing an East-Asia missile shield that would cover South Korea and Japan. Very timely given the provocations from Kimmie and Sonny-Boy. This is one of the first good proposals I've seen for a 21st century deterrence of aggression in East Asia.

What I really like about this is that we could remove most of our ground troops from Korea, and focus on what we do best with a missile shield plus some air assets and a continuing naval presence.

Now just expand it a touch to cover Taiwan...
China would have fits, if we took their lawful prey from them.

#1  Once again, IMO CHINA is unlikely to agree to any kind of formal INTER-KOREAN REUNIFICATION unless its own National Security is assured, e.e. that China is never again threatened by foreign invasion via the Korean Peninsula, + that the latter is closed/cordoned off forever.

China is also likely to demand that US MILFORS TOTALLY WITHDRAW FROM SOUTH KOREA, WID SAME FOR JAPAN OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE A MINIMAL, NON-NUCLEAR-CAPABLE, JAPAN-BASED US MIL PRESENCE; + that BOTH SOUTH = REUNIFIED KOREA + JAPAN [Taiwan?] NEVER E-V-A-R! DEV OR POSSESS ANY TYPE OF TACTICAL, STRATEGIC NUCWEAPONS THAT CAN BE USED IN WAR AGZ CHINA.

Also read, NUKE-CAPABLE, POTENTIAL? CONVENTIONAL, STRATEGIC AIRCRAFT, GROUND FORCES' ARTILLERY, MBTS, etc.

Iff NOT, then the US + ROK, etc. should expect China to agree to only MINIMAL INTER-KOREAN COOPERATION, MAINLY AS PER ECONOMICS i.e. the US-WEST + ROK HELPING CHINA MAKE SURE THAT STARVING DPRK ONLY HAS ENOUGH FOREIGN/INTERNAT ASSISTANCE TO SURVIVE.

Why? you say - SIMPLY BECUZ THE FEWER NORTH KOREANS THAT EXIST IN NORTH KOREA, THE MORE CHINESE POWER-CENTRIC PYONGYANG WILL HAVE TO IMPORT FROM CHINA TO ENSURE NORTH KOREA'S ECON, HENCE POLITICAL, SURVIVAL. IOW, China only gains, not loses, by the DPRK's econ troubles + the "status quo", nor does it lose by anything else be it War andor Peace - ITS NORTH KOREA, AND ONLY NORTH KOREA, PER SE THAT LOSES-LOSES-LOSES....@.

The only reason for China to support INTER-KOREAN INTEGRATION, RE-UNIFICATION at this time is to EMPOWER THE PRO-CHINA COMMUNIST MOVEMENTS IN BOTH SOUTH KOREA + JAPAN.

Economy
Paul Krugman Channels Jimmy Carter, and The Club of Rome
Fast forward to the present, and the reliably obtuse Paul Krugman is channeling the notions of scarcity so roundly exposed as folly not long ago. In a New York Times column titled “The Finite World”, Krugman reminds the mildly sentient among us that history always repeats itself in ways that fool the gullible.
Delicious!

All of this reminds me of German Socialists in 1933, the Reichstag fire. The German National Socialists needed a national catastrophe to fire up their base and to attack their opponents. They had to create that incident themselves. They did. And their opponents rolled over.

All though you are right about Obama you are wrong about Palin. They are both puppets in the game that is run by TPTB. Both parties are in on the scheme to end America. The facade is known as the false Left/Right paradigm, and the REAL leaders are the banking families like the Rothschilds and Rockefellers and their henchmen like Zbignew Bzrezinski, Henry Kissinger, Bush Sr., and many others. They are the same people who murdered JFK, executed 9/11(with help from Israel’s Mossad) and are busy bankrupting us as they sell us down the river. Palin like Obama and Bush Jr. are just puppets for the banksters and secret societies who really run the show. It doesn’t matter which party is “in” because they are both the same thing.

Some are more equal than others there Rep. Brady? Why are crimes against any other citizen lesser because of their job or position in society?

Assault and battery is the combination of two violent crimes: assault (the threat of violence) and battery (physical violence).

Why not just enforce existing statutes? ...other than it would apply to you and yours as well? /rhet question

Shooting Suspect's Nihilism Rose With Isolation
At an event roughly three years ago, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords took a question from Jared Loughner, the man accused of trying to assassinate her and killing six other people. According to two of his high school friends the question was essentially this: "What is government if words have no meaning?"

Loughner was angry about her response — she read the question and didn't have much to say.

"He was like ... 'What do you think of these people who are working for the government and they can't describe what they do?'" one friend told The Associated Press on Sunday. "He did not like government officials, how they spoke. Like they were just trying to cover up some conspiracy.

India-Pakistan
Lib Islamic Apologist notices that Pakistan has an Islamic Crises
Fareed Zakaria has been a firm believer in the "Islam is peace", "Bush created the climate for the terrorists", "Terrorists are perverts of Islam". He has a gig on cable TV and writes for Time. He has approximately zero novel thoughts per 10,000 words and seems to be good at picking and choosing the conventional wisdom to support the left narrative.

He probably believes that Islam is peace stuffr because his father was an Islamic scholar from Bombay, India and was a muslim ally of Nehru and Indira Ganhdi.

Nevertheless, the events of the past week where a liberal reformer was assassinated and his assassination has been praised and celebrated by Islamic Scholars, preachers and their followers get him thinking a little.

However, he escapes from realism and ends up declaring the Pak army can solve the problem by taming Wariztan.

#1  The article cries out to an inveterate Fisker. Mr. Zakaria opens his screed thusly:

Home Front: Culture Wars
Fascist Pigs, Fanatical Ideologues, and Delusional Illness
"Dr. Sanity"

...I have not met or examined the individual who is in custody for this horrific attack. But I have read quite a bit of information about him now. Making a reasonable clinical determination (which will be impacted obviously by forthcoming information also); and based on his own writings and behaviors that were described prior to this incident, my best assessment is that Jared Loughner was likely suffering from paranoid schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia is a real physiological illness that usually begins in late adolescence, early adulthood; and it is like a youthful dementia; slowly tearing down the neural pathways in the brain and causing deteriorating cognitive functioning. The paranoia comes about as the person suffering from the disease tries to make sense of all the irrational, distorted and bewildering perceptions that their malfunctioning brain is attempting to interpret.

Paranoid schizophrenics almost always have bizarre political and/or religious agendas. Their delusions almost always have relevance to the current political situation and context within which they live. I can give you hundreds of examples from my personal experience treating them: the CIA or other "secret" agencies are tapping into their minds; the "government" (and I have seen U.S., British, and multiple other governments implicated depending on the national origins of the individual in question) is out to destroy them because they know something they should not; they alone understand the urgency of the threat. When the Patty Hearst kidnapping occurred decades ago, almost all the schizophrenics I saw had delusions related to Patty Hearst and the Symbionese Liberation Army. More recently, a paranoid schizophrenic that I evaluated thought that President Bush practiced dark magic to force people into 'volunteering' for the military and that this was why no military draft was needed to get recruits to go to Iraq.

The paranoid person himself is always at the center of some vast conspiracy that only he can see. He is special because of it--and this specialness likely compensates for whatever awareness he might have of his deterioring intellectual and social functioning. As that functioning gets more chaotic and dysfunctional, the paranoid gets even more desperate to explain what is happening to him and his world, and the delusions become more and more complex and eventually may have no connection at all to anything in the real world.

In my career as a psychiatrist I have encountered many psychotic and schizophrenic individuals with religious and anti-religious delusions....

...It takes a truly 'sick' person, in every philosophical/moral/spiritual and ethical sense of the word to say that such an ill person's motivations are the exact motivations of those with whom they happen to disagree.

I have been treating schizophrenic patients for almost 35 years now. The point is that their illness impairs their cognitive functioning. Schizophrenics have a biological cause for their dysfunction....
Go read it all.
