Algeria tightens control over religious associations
[MAGHAREBIA] As part of the new measures to confront extremism, Algeria will increase control over religious associations, El Watan reported on Thursday (September 4th).

The government will impose stricter rules for the creation of religious associations. Algeria also plans to monitor their financing and budgets.

Religious associations make up more than 16% of the 92,627 NGOs in the country.

Algeria faces border infiltration menace
[MAGHAREBIA] New concern over the border area between Libya, Tunisia and Algeria is leading security officials from the three countries to work together to stem the threat.

The issue came to the fore following claims in the Tunisian press about recently discovered smuggling tunnels linking Algeria, Libya and Tunisia.

Citing Al Sarih on August 17th, Algerie360.com reported that Algerian security forces had secured and neutralised several of these purported underground passages.

Egypt to Try Morsi for Giving Qatar Security Papers
[AnNahar] Egypt's deposed President Mohammed Morsi will be tried on charges of giving Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
documents relating to national security, the state prosecutor said on Saturday.

The Islamist former head of state already faces the death penalty in several trials, and his supporters have been the target of a deadly crackdown by the authorities since his ouster in July 2013.
President al Sissi's government clearly wants to be very, very certain Mr. Morsi never walks the streets of Egypt again.
No date has yet been set for the new trial for Morsi, who is suspected of providing the sensitive documents to the energy-rich Gulf state during his single year of turbulent rule.

Morsi will go on trial for having "handed over to Qatari intelligence documents linked to national security... in exchange for one million dollars (772,000 euros)", the prosecutor said in a statement.

Ten other defendants will be tried alongside Morsi, including his former secretary Amin El-Serafi, the ex-director of his office Ahmed Abdel Atti and Ibrahim Mohammed Helal, who is identified as a chief editor of the Doha-based Al-Jazeera
... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS...
network.

In the statement, the prosecutor said Morsi and Abdel Atti gave El-Serafi "extremely sensitive documents concerning the army, its deployment and weaponry" and he in turn gave them to Helal and to a Qatari intelligence operative.

It said that intermediaries, who were not identified, were used to send the documents to Helal and the Qataris.

The papers included documents from the "general and military intelligence offices of the State Security" apparatus, the prosecutor said.

Morsi, El-Serafi and Abdel Atti are all behind bars. Helal's whereabouts are unknown.

In March the interior ministry accused El-Serafi of handing over to an Al-Jazeera chief editor and to Morsi's Moslem Brotherhood documents regarding the army, its weaponry and troop deployments.

Relations between Egypt and Qatar soured after Morsi's ouster, as Cairo criticized Doha's backing for the Brotherhood -- designated a terrorist group after Morsi's overthrow on July 3, 2013.

Qatar has denounced Egypt's crackdown on Morsi supporters which has left more than 1,400 people dead since his ouster.

Thousands more have been detained and imprisoned, and hundreds have been sentenced to death in speedy mass trials.

Morsi is already on trial in three separate cases -- one over the killing of protesters during his presidency, another for allegedly conspiring with foreign powers including Iran to destabilize Egypt, and a third over a jailbreak during the 2011 uprising that ousted strongman Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
Morsi could face the death penalty if convicted.

Egypt has also jugged

A very small international outcry, though. Mostly in the pages of Al Jazeera.

activist, Maryam al-Khawaja, despite a UN call for her release.

According to her lawyer, Mohammed al-Jishi, a Bahraini court ruled on Saturday that the rights activist remain in jail for another ten days.

Bahrain has extended her custody despite the United Naitons' concern about the "ongoing violations" of freedom of expression in the Persian Gulf country.

On Friday, the UN expressed serious concern about Maryam's arrest and called on Bahraini regime to release her and other detained activists.

How our allies in Kuwait and Qatar funded Islamic State
[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] In the great jihadi funding bazaar that is the Gulf state of Kuwait, there's a terror finance option for every pocket, from the private foundations dealing in tens of millions to the more retail end of the market. Give enough for 50 sniper bullets (50 dinars, about £110), promises the al-Qaeda and Islamic State-linked holy man tweeting under the name "jahd bmalk", and you will earn "silver status". Donate 100 dinars to buy eight badly needed mortar rounds, and he'll make you a "gold status donor".

As the jihadi funders hand out loyalty cards, the West has belatedly realised that some of its supposed friends in the Gulf have been playing the disloyalty card. Had Kuwait not been freed by American, British and allied troops in 1991, it would presumably now still be the "19th province" of Saddam Hussein's Iraq. But the emirate has repaid the Western blood and treasure spent in its liberation by becoming, in the words of David Cohen, the US undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, the "epicentre of funding for terrorist groups in Syria".

Islamic State (Isil), with its newly conquered territory, oilfields and bank vaults, no longer needs much foreign money. But its extraordinarily swift rise to this point, a place where it threatens the entire region and the West, was substantially paid for by the allies of the West. Isil's cash was raised in, or channelled through, Kuwait and Qatar

Nisar ready to resign, leave politics if allegations proven
[DAWN] Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan

He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. Poll shows 30% of Israelis favor emigrating from Israel
[Iran Press TV] A new poll has found that 30 percent of Israelis favor emigrating from Israel following recent Tel Aviv's brutal war on the besieged Gazoo Strip.

According to Israel's Channel 2, those polled said they can no longer deal with the psychological repercussions of another war.

The survey conducted by the Israeli media also shows more Israelis are now thinking of leaving the occupied Paleostinian land after having been through three wars in six years.

Jordan 'forms task force' against Islamic State
[IsraelTimes] Jordan is forming a special task force to deal with possible threats from the Islamic State jihadist organization within the country, according to a senior government official.

King Abdullah II has tapped Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour to head the committee, the official told Arabic daily Al-Hayat Saturday. IS has captured vast territories in neighboring Iraq and Syria, and some believe the Hashemite Kingdom may be its next target.

The news came on the heels of a report by newspaper a-Sharq al-Awsat Thursday that Jordanian security forces had incarcerated
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
71 radical activists belonging to Islamist organizations, including IS and Syria's al-Nusra Front faction, throughout the kingdom.

Abdullah II attended a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
summit of Western leaders Thursday and Friday which was heavily focused on the threat of the Islamic State. At the summit, the US and key allies agreed that the Islamic State group was a significant threat to NATO countries and that they would take on the Lions of Islam by squeezing their financial resources and going after them with military might.

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
a group of Jordanian deputies demanded Wednesday that the kingdom stay out of any war against Islamic State jihadists.

Twenty-one MPs, who represent various factions in the 150-seat parliament, sent a memorandum to speaker Atef al-Tarawneh demanding "the government not involve Jordan (in the fight) against the Islamic State."
As if ISIS consults its targets on their desires in the matter.
"This war is not our war. Accordingly, we reject categorically any Jordanian contribution in a battle that is not ours," they said in the document seen by AFP.
It's this kind if thinking that got all those little kingdoms conquered by the Babylonians and the Medes & Persians and every other empire that wandered down the pike. Idiots.
"We do not want to be dragged into an international coalition," said Khalil Attia, one of the deputies who signed the memorandum.

Despite its relative stability, Jordan has faced growing tensions on the homefront with a million Syrian refugees currently residing within its borders and, experts say, a growing movement of jihadists and ultraconservative Salafis. Hundreds of Jordanians are known to have traveled to Syria to fight in the uprising against Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Trampler of Homs...
. Some have joined krazed killer groups, including IS.

A video posted online in April depicted a number of Jordanian IS fighters, including a child, tearing up their passports and threatening to assassinate the "tyrant," referring to the king.

Extremists have also targeted Jordan in the past. The Islamic State's precursor, known as al-Qaeda in Iraq, was founded by a Jordanian, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Under his leadership, the group carried out a triple bombing on Amman hotels in 2005 that killed more than 50 people.

Wary of the possible threats Jordan has taken steps to shore up its defenses, dispatching reinforcements to its border with Iraq and expanding anti-terror laws in June.

Troops Abductors Reportedly Ask for Ransom, Release of 400 Prisoners as Mashnouq Prepares to Visit Qatar
[AnNahar] Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq described as "excellent" the meeting of the ministerial panel tasked with following up on the case of soldiers and coppers kidnapped by Islamist forces of Evil from the northeastern border town of Arsal, reported the daily An Nahar on Friday.

The minister is scheduled to travel to Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
on Monday in order to follow up on the issue.

Mashnouq and General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim will head to the Gulf country to attend the Arab interior ministers' general secretariat conference.

"Only positive results can be achieved from Qatar's efforts towards Leb," the minister told An Nahar.

Later on Saturday, Voice of Leb radio (93.3) said a Qatari delegation that spent two days in Arsal had received a list of the abductors' demands, which are topped by "the release of 400 Islamist prisoners from Lebanese jails and the payment of five million dollars."

LBCI television for its part quoted judicial sources as saying that "the Qatari team has left Arsal after receiving a list of the Islamic State's demands regarding the kidnapped troops."

"Al-Nusra Front and the IS are insisting on the condition of swapping the troops for Roumieh inmates and the issue of money has entered the negotiations," LBCI added.

Qatar has been mediating the release of the captives who were kidnapped by al-Nusra Front and Islamic State forces of Evil in August.

A widely-informed Lebanese source told As Safir newspaper on Saturday that the Qatari officials had held talks recently with Nusra Front representatives in al-Qalamun.

They returned with "an impression that the forces of Evil will not harm any of the 13 captives for at least a month, but on two conditions."

The first condition was not revealed, while the second calls for the Lebanese judicial authorities to speed up the trial of Islamists held in Roumieh prison.

IS forces of Evil meanwhile hold at least 15 soldiers and coppers, said As Safir.

They have not yet met with the Qatari mediators, who had suggested that the executions of the captives halt in return for pledges from Lebanese authorities.

The nature of the pledges were not disclosed.

A ministerial panel following up on the case of the kidnapped troops convened on Friday as the Islamic State group accused Qatari mediators of maneuvering and "obstructing the negotiations" before eventually meeting with them.

Earlier on Friday, the so-called Qalamun branch of the Islamic State said in a statement: "After having agreed to hold indirect negotiations with the Lebanese government ... (the IS) was surprised that the Qatari side ... is procrastinating in the issue of meeting the IS' negotiators."

The group held the Qatari delegation directly responsible for "obstructing the negotiations and for the lives of the troops."

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
the IS later issued a statement confirming that it did meet with Qatari mediators and that "other parties" were obstructing the talks.

The group also announced that the Qatari delegation will be "the only channel of negotiations" and that it handed it a list of its demands.

The delegation had arrived overnight Thursday in Leb before immediately heading to the Bekaa town of Arsal, which borders Syria.

Around 36 Lebanese soldiers and coppers were taken hostage last month after IS and Nusra gunnies overran Arsal during deadly battles with the Lebanese army.

Leb has been reportedly seeking the help of Qatar and Turkey to ensure their safe release.

The forces of Evil have released several hostages in different stages but they have also beheaded Lebanese army sergeant Ali al-Sayyed.

The jihadists have reportedly called on the Lebanese government to release Islamist inmates from the country's largest prison in Roumieh in exchange for the captive security personnel.

Captive Policemen Contact Relatives, Urge Families to Mobilize to Release Hostages
[AnNahar] A policeman kidnapped by Islamists from the northeastern border town of Arsal contacted his wife on Saturday, reported al-Jadeed television.

It said that Ziad Omar telephoned his wife and urged the families of the captives to mobilize to ensure the captives' release.

He added that the hostages are being treated well.
No doubt he said exactly what his captors told him to. We know they already murdered at least one of the hostages, and that they separated the Sunnis from the rest, making "well treated" a malleable concept with an uncertain future.
Omar is being held by al-Nusra Front, said al-Jadeed.

Voice of Leb radio (93.3) later reported that captive Pierre Geagea contacted his wife.

LBCI television said that Geagea and another captive, George Khazzaqa, had contacted their relatives on Saturday morning, urging them to mobilize to pressure for their release.

He urged the families of the hostages to mobilize, stage rallies, and pressure Hizbullah

to withdraw its fighters from Syria.

A number of soldiers and coppers were kidnapped in August in light of festivities between the army and Islamists in Arsal.

Some of the captives were released at different stages, while the rest remain held by Islamists from al-Nusra Front and Islamic State.

The government tasked earlier this week a ministerial panel to follow up on the case.

i mediators have become involved in the negotiations to release them.

The families of the captives however have refused to meet with the panel.

On Thursday, they called on Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji to "arrest all ministers and swap them for the abductees."

"We want our sons, with or without an exchange, and we all throw our support behind the army chief and we hope he will fulfill our demand," they said.

The Death Eaters are reportedly seeking to exchange the soldiers and coppers for Islamists held in Roumieh prison.

Arsal Municipal Chief Says Syrian, Not Qatari, Carrying out Negotiations over Captive Soldiers
[AnNahar] The municipal chief of the northeastern border town of Arsal questioned the delay in the release of the soldiers and coppers held captive by Islamist holy warriors, reported al-Liwaa newspaper on Saturday.

Ali al-Hujairi told the daily that a Syrian mediator, not a Qatar

i one, was leading the negotiations on the release of the abductees.

Moreover, he said that the town is coming under "immense pressure due to the presence of the army, security forces, Hizbullah

members, and Syrian gunnies in the outskirts of the town."

"We cannot resist the gunnies as we support the state and army," Hujairi declared.

"We have no power over the gunnies and the interests of the residents of Arsal will be harmed," he warned.

"Arsal is being targeted, it is not occupied because the army is deployed there," he added.

He also questioned Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq's claims that Arsal needed to be liberated.

Hujairi instead called on Premier Tammam Salam, Mashnouq, Defense Minister Samir Moqbel, Free Patriotic Movement

, and the Hizbullah leadership to visit the town "to see the truth for themselves."

Media reports on Friday said that Qatari mediators were negotiating the release of the captive security personnel.

A ministerial panel following up on the case of the kidnapped troops convened on Friday amid a boycott by the hostages' families, as the Islamic State group accused Qatari mediators of maneuvering and "obstructing the negotiations" before eventually meeting with them.

Earlier on Friday, the so-called Qalamun branch of the Islamic State

said in a statement: "After having agreed to hold indirect negotiations with the Lebanese government ... (the IS) was surprised that the Qatari side ... is procrastinating in the issue of meeting the IS' negotiators."

The group held the Qatari delegation directly responsible for "obstructing the negotiations and for the lives of the troops."

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
the IS later issued a statement confirming that it did meet with Qatari mediators and that "other parties" were obstructing the talks.

The group also announced that the Qatari delegation will be "the only channel of negotiations" and that it handed it a list containing its demands.

Taking hostages is an ancient Muslim tradition. So useful for ransom, for the pleasure of torturing and killing, for trading for one's own captives, and for controlling the current target.
Leb has been reportedly seeking the help of Qatar and Turkey to ensure their safe release.
"Please leash your pets for us!"
The bully boyz have released several hostages in different stages but they have also beheaded Lebanese army sergeant Ali al-Sayyed.

The jihadists have reportedly called on the Lebanese government to release Islamist inmates from the country's largest prison in Roumieh in exchange for the captive security personnel.

Officials Deny Reports of Alleged IS Deployment in Sannine
[AnNahar] Reports of an alleged deployment by Islamic State gunnies in Sannine's mountains stirred an uproar in the country on Friday, although several officials refuted the claims and the army said its measures in the area were part of "preventive security."

Ad-Diyar newspaper had on Friday morning quoted Arsal's municipal chief as saying that "members of the IS are deployed in the mountains of Zahle and Sannine."

"The Lebanese army raided a hotel in Sannine's mountains and tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
heavily armed Syrians," ad-Diyar added, noting that the military also deployed troops "all the way from Baskinta to Baqish to Sannine's mountains."

"A large number of civilian residents were seen carrying arms and deploying in the mountains to defend Baskinta, Bteghrine, Bikfaya and the highlands of Northern Metn," the newspaper alleged.

The claims prompted the army to issue a communique in which it condemned inaccurate reports that "spark unjustified fear among citizens."

The military stressed that the allegations are baseless, reassuring that its recent measures in some areas, including Baskinta, were part of "preventive security across all Lebanese regions, given the circumstances that the country is going through."

Earlier on Friday, Northern Metn MP Ibrahim Kanaan of the Change and Reform bloc reassured after phone talks with the army command and the intelligence directorate that "there are no security developments in Sannine and Northern Metn's mountains but rather preventive measures by the Lebanese army."

He said troops were "inspecting the places of residence of (Syrian) refugees to make sure that there are no runaways among them."

"There is no need to panic," Kanaan added.

MP Michel Murr for his part denied "media reports about the presence of IS gunnies in the mountains of Baskinta and Sannine."

The reports come in the wake of a deadly battle that the jihadists fought against the Lebanese army in the Bekaa town of Arsal, during which they overran the town and killed and kidnapped dozens of troops and coppers.

IAEA Says Gains More Iran Knowledge Despite Stalled Nuclear Probe
[Ynet] UN inspectors have gained rare access to a plant where Iran is developing centrifuges for enriching uranium as part of a transparency deal they say is giving them a "better understanding" of Tehran's disputed nuclear programme.

A confidential ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency report obtained by Rooters acknowledged that a long-running IAEA investigation into suspected nuclear arms research by Tehran was making little headway, given Tehran's lack of cooperation.
