Cameroon Vows to 'Totally Wipe Out' Boko Haram After Hostages' Release
[AnNahar] Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
's President Paul Biya on Monday vowed his government would go after the Islamist group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
"until it's totally wiped out".

He made the promise as he received 10 Chinese and 17 Cameroonians freed last week after spending months as hostages of gunnies thought to belong to Boko Haram, an anti-Western rebel group in Nigeria which has been increasingly making incursions into Cameroon.

"The Cameroonian government assures you that it will ceaselessly continue to fight Boko Haram until it's totally wiped out," Biya said.

The 27 Cameroonians and Chinese were delivered to authorities on Friday night.

The government has not said how they were freed, but a security source said that "a ransom" was paid and around 20 imprisoned Islamists were freed in exchange.

The Chinese were seized in May from a construction camp in Waza near the border with Nigeria in an attack that left one Cameroonian soldier dead.

The Cameroonians -- including the wife of one of Cameroon's deputy prime ministers -- were kidnapped in July during two simultaneous assaults, also blamed on Boko Haram, in which at least 15 people died.

"We were in these sort of huts in a pretty dense forest," one of the released Cameroonians, Seiny Boukar Lamine, told state radio.

"It was in a savannah with big trees and a lot of brush. We slept on the ground," he said. He said he was held along with his wife and six children.

Cameroon shares a border of more than 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) with Nigeria, where Boko Haram has been waging a bloody insurgency since 2009 in which 10,000 people have died.

The Islamist group did not claim responsibility for the kidnappings, but it has been involved in other abductions, including that of over 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria in a case that sparked international outrage.

Boko Haram's forays into Cameroon have prompted the government to deploy soldiers and combat planes to the north of the country.

On October 7, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria agreed to dispatch 700 soldiers to target the group.

Yemen Names New PM in Fresh Bid to End Crisis
[AnNahar] Yemeni President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi named a top diplomat his new premier Monday in his second bid this month to solve a political crisis with Iranian catspaws that sparked deadly unrest.

Hadi's nomination of U.N. envoy Khalid Bahah appeared to have the consent of Houthis, who seized control of much of the capital Sanaa in a lightning offensive last month.

The naming of a neutral prime minister is seen as a key step in convincing the rebels to withdraw from Sanaa, where their supporters were targeted in a devastating suicide kaboom last Thursday that left 47 people dead.

State news agency Saba said a team of advisers to Hadi, which includes rebel representatives, had approved the nomination.

"After consultations over several nominees, all advisers nominated Khalid Mahfoudh Bahah," it said.

A member of the rebels' political arm, known as Ansarullah, confirmed the nomination had their consent.

"We approved the naming of candidate Khalid Bahah as prime minister," Ali al-Imad told AFP.

Yemen has been wracked by political turmoil and sporadic violence since the 2012 toppling of strongman President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
, with rebels and turbans battling to exploit a power vacuum and seize control of territory.

Since sweeping into the capital from their northern base on September 21, the Houthis have established a strong presence, carrying out patrols and manning checkpoints.

Under a U.N.-sponsored ceasefire deal, they are to withdraw from Sanaa and disarm once a neutral prime minister is named.

A previous attempt to name a new premier collapsed last week under opposition from the rebels, with the candidate, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, withdrawing within 24 hours of being nominated.

A source close to the presidency said that with Bahah's nomination the rebels have promised to end their military presence in the capital and dismantle camps they have built around it.

AFP could not immediately confirm this with a rebel source.

Their presence in the capital has exacerbated tensions in Yemen, where authorities also have to deal with southern secessionist aspirations and a bloody campaign by the country's Al-Qaeda franchise.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
(AQAP) is fiercely opposed to the Huthis, claiming responsibility for last week's bombing in Sanaa and another suicide kaboom the same day that killed 20 soldiers in Hadramawt province.

Once Yemen's ambassador to Canada and later the impoverished country's minister of oil and minerals, Bahah became its envoy to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
in August.

The rebel presence in the city has exasperated residents and twice since the takeover they have gone onto the streets to demand that the Huthis leave Sanaa.

Yemen has been without a prime minister since Mohammed Basindawa, who led a consensus government which the Iranian catspaws accused of corruption, resigned when the Huthis seized government headquarters.

The Huthis, who complain of marginalization by Sanaa, are concentrated in the mostly Shiite northern highlands in otherwise Sunni-majority Yemen.

Since storming into Sanaa, the rebels have been tightening their grip on the city while also looking to expand their control eastwards to oilfields and to the strategic southwestern strait of Bab el-Mandab.

Opponents accuse them of being backed by Iran in a similar fashion to its support for Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah.

Chronic instability in Yemen has raised concerns that the country -- next to oil-rich Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and key shipping routes in the Gulf of Aden -- could become a failed state similar to Somalia.

Fat Boy Turns Up
North Korean leader Pudgy Kim Jong-un has resurfaced after a month-and-a-half out of the public eye that gave rise to wild speculation about his health.

The North's official Korean Central News Agency on Tuesday reported that Kim inspected a newly-built housing complex for scientists. He was leaning on a stick.

The official Rodong Sinmun also carried a photo but did not specify the date of the inspection, which was believed to have been on Monday.
Unless he's carrying a copy of today's New York Times our CIA should be openly scoffing and telling everyone that this is all made up...
Earlier, U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice on Sunday said rumors of a coup in the North are exaggerated. On NBC's Meet the Press, Rice noted that she had not seen any indication of a transfer of power.
Dummy -- that was exactly the time to speculate about a coup.
Both the White House and the U.S. State Department said while they had no proven information on Kim's whereabouts but rumors of a coup seem unfounded.

KCNA: Pudge Purpotedly Performs Public Pantomime
North Korea's official news agency says leader Kim Jong Un has made his first public appearance in 40 days.

KCNA reported Tuesday that Kim "gave field guidance" at the newly built Wisong Scientists Residential District. The agency also says that earlier in the same day, Kim "visited the newly built Natural Energy Institute of the State Academy of Sciences." It was unclear when Kim made the two appearances.

Kim's prolonged absence from public view had fueled speculation about his health and his control over the country.

Europe
Iceland Shuts down 'Islamic State' Website
[AnNahar] Iceland has closed down a website believed to be used by the jihadist organization Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, according to the authority responsible for the country's Internet domain name ".is".

Internet in Iceland Inc, or ISNIC, said in a statement late Sunday that it had "suspended domains that were used for the website of a known terrorist organization".

The site "khilafah.is" -- which ISNIC said was run by a group calling itself Islamic State -- was traced back to a web hosting company on the island nation at the weekend and was believed to have been online since mid-September.

Several other websites with the name "khilafah" -- or caliphate, which Islamic State Death Eaters claim to have established in parts of Iraq and Syria -- already exist in other countries with other domain name endings, including ".com" and ".org" and without clear links to the group.

ISNIC head Jens Petur Jensen told Icelandic radio station Bylgjan on Monday that it was the first time the country had to close a website down because of its content.

"We have no experience with this... we have always pointed out that it's none of our business. That the Islamic State had their domain under '.is' was something we feared because of the abbreviation," he said.

Jensen added that the owners of the site did not reply to emails or to phone calls to a British number used for registration. The only physical address for the site was a small roadside shop in New Zealand.

In the future, he told public broadcaster RUV, Arabic-language websites using the country's domain would be monitored more closely as websites have to be "within the limits of Icelandic law".

Iceland has been at the forefront of the international debate
... an expenditure of personal wind at the national level that leads to face-making and other histrionics but can't be shown to have ever solved an issue ...
on Internet freedom, with a strong file-sharing movement and laws prohibiting censorship.

Helgi Hrafn Gunnarsson, a member of parliament from the Pirate Party, which is opposed to Internet censorship, criticized the decision and said people should be able to find out first-hand what the terror group stands for.

"The public has to have the right and opportunity to investigate and discuss openly the ugliest ideas found in human society, especially when we are talking about horror such as the Islamic State," he wrote on Facebook.

Adalheidur Amundadottir, from the Reykjavik-based International Modern Media Institute, which has lobbied to bolster the country's freedom of speech laws, warned that Iceland was in for a difficult debate on Internet censorship.

"We may find the content on this website disgusting, but we nonetheless have to consider if we should ban what we find disgusting, should we ban hate?" she asked in an interview with radio station Bylgian.

Iceland's prime minister, Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson, ruled out allowing groups like IS to use the country's Internet address, telling the daily Morgunbladid: "I asked the ministry to find out how we can close the site down and prevent it opening again under an Icelandic domain."

"This has nothing to do with freedom of expression, but criminal and monstrous conduct. We have to be able to shut that down."

The Grand Turk
Turkish Government Further Tightens Grip on Judiciary
[AnNahar] Candidates backed by Turkey's ruling party won the majority of seats in elections for the country's top judicial body, further tightening government control over the judiciary, state media said Monday.

The weekend vote was the latest round in a bitter feud between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
and his former ally Fethullah Gulen, whom he accuses of using his influence over the police and judiciary to damage the government with corruption allegations.

Erdogan-backed candidates won eight of out of 10 seats in a vote by more than 14,000 judges and prosecutors of the High Board of Judges and Prosecutors Council (HSYK), an independent body responsible for the appointment of judges.

The two other seats of the HSYK, which has 22 members in total, were filled by candidates seen as close to the U.S.-based Gulen, according to the provisional results published by the state-run Anatolia news agency.

Erdogan on Monday welcomed the result and said: "Our prosecutors and judges retained their honor and dignity and gave a proper answer to those trying to gain control of the judiciary and hold it hostage."

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu also hailed it as the "victory of the free will."

Erdogan has long accused followers of Gulen of establishing a "parallel state" and of launching a corruption probe late last year implicating the president and his inner circle.

The president, who ruled Turkey as premier for over a decade, has struck back by seeking to curb the judiciary and sacked hundreds of police and prosecutors involved in the investigation.

The parliament in April passed a law giving the government greater sway over the HSYK, which has raised questions at home and abroad about the state of democracy in Turkey.

But Turkey's constitutional court annulled key sections of the law, saying it was unconstitutional.

Turkish President Vows Crackdown on Pro-Kurd Protests
[AnNahar] Turkey's government will seek new powers to crack down on violent demonstrations, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
said Sunday, after dozens died in a wave of Kurdish-led protests over Ankara's policies in Syria.

"The Republic of Turkey would not be a state if it were not able to control a few thugs," Erdogan said in a speech in the northeastern town of Bayburt. "They may burn, but they will pay the price. We will go further," he said.
Was he frothing at the mouth as he spoke?
Speaking Saturday night in the neighboring town of Rize, the president called for a bill to be brought before parliament in the coming week aimed at "clearing these vandals from the streets".

Thousands of Kurds have taken to the streets in anger that Turkey has not intervened to defend the mainly Kurdish Syrian border town of Kobane from Islamic State

(IS) jihadists.

Three police were maimed in a new festivities overnight Saturday to Sunday in southeastern town of Silopi, the Dogan news agency reported, although elsewhere the protests had simmered down.

According to official figures released on Friday the four days of violence left 31 dead and 360 maimed. At least three more people have since died in hospital, according to media reports, taking the toll to 34.

Some of the deadly violence involved festivities between young supporters of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Islamist and nationalist activists.

Cemil Bayik, one of the founders of the PKK which has waged a bloody 30-year insurgency for Kurdish self-rule in Turkey, has warned the two-year-old grinding of the peace processor with Ankara is in danger of collapse after the deadly unrest.

On Sunday Erdogan called on parents to "stop children from taking to the streets" in support of the "terrorist" PKK.

Turkey denies deal with US on bombing IS militants in Syria
[DAWN] Turkey on Monday denied statements by US officials that it had allowed the United States access to its air bases for bombing missions against Islamic State

A government official said there was no new agreement over the use by the United States of the Incirlik air base in southern Turkey, which US air forces already use for logistical and humanitarian purposes.

"There is no new agreement with the United States about Incirlik," the official, who asked not to be named, told AFP in Ankara.

#1  Good Grief… Turkey Refutes Susan Rice, Says No Deal Reached to Allow US to Use Air Bases (Video)

India-Pakistan
Displaced Mehsuds to hold jirga in Lahore to seek repatriation
[DAWN] The elders of Mehsud tribe have decided to hold a jirga in Lahore on Oct 21 to demand return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North and South Wazoo agencies to the areas, which have been cleared of krazed killers.

The decision was made in a jirga of Mehsud elders, held at Bagh-e-Naran here on Sunday to discuss future strategy for pressing the government to pay heed to the issues of IDPs.

Senator Saleh Shah from South Waziristan, Advocate Kareem Mehsud, former DIG Rehmat Khan, Abdullah Khan Mehsud, Haji Ataullah and other elders of Wazir and Dawar tribes also attended the jirga to discuss the issues of IDPs.

The displacement from South Waziristan was started in 2008 and many families were dislocated by 2009 owing to a military operation code-named 'Rah-e-Nijat' to rid the area and its people of the menace of militancy. The displaced tribal families still wait for an announcement by the authorities concerned that they can go back to their area, which has been cleared of krazed killers.

About 56,228 families were displaced from South Waziristan in 2009 but so far only 7,455 families have returned to their homes and some 45,178 families are scattered in different parts of the province and the country.

The displaced tribal people claim that they are not living in any government-run camp or shelter but are left to fend for themselves.

The participants of the jirga said that they were told by the authorities after the launch of military operation that they would return to their homes after three weeks. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
many families were still waiting for a green signal from the authorities to return to their homes, they added.

Senator Saleh Shah said that Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) was given about Rs2.64 billion for rehabilitation of the South Waziristan IDPs. Instead of spending the amount on the purpose, the FDMA embezzled the funds, he alleged.

The Senator said that people of tribal areas were used during war against Russia and tagged as 'smugglers' and 'warriors' but in reality tribal people wanted peace. It's the reason they gathered to hold a jirga and demand of the government to arrange for their return to the areas, which were cleared of krazed killers.

Anti-polio campaign launched in Balochistan to vaccinate 850,000 children
[DAWN] A three day anti polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
campaign was launched in Quetta and other six districts of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
on Monday morning.

According to Health Department of Balochistan around 850,000 children below the age of five years would be administered polio vaccine in Quetta, Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Sherani, Zhob and Lasbela districts of the province.

Security was tightened in Quetta and other districts keeping in view the past attacks on polio vaccination teams in Balochistan while police and levies personnel provided security to the teams.

Sources in health department told Dawn that Balochistan government decided to provide polio drops to children in all thirty two districts of the province.

Four new cases of polio virus have been detected in Quetta and other parts of the province this year.

Balochistan remained polio-free for last sixteen months owing to joint efforts by health department, Unicef and World Health Organisation (WHO).

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
two months back a polio cases was discovered in Maizai Addah area of Killa Abdullah district which borders with Afghanistan.

According to sources in Unicef, the minor girl had come to Balochistan from Sindh province.

Over 70 polio cases were reported in Balochistan during the year 2011.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Arab Mk: Temple Mount Not Holy To Jews
[IsraelTimes] The Temple Mount is not holy to Jews, and they should not be allowed to visit the site, MK Taleb Abu Arar (Ra'am-Ta'al) told a Jewish activist on Friday.

"It should be closed all the time to Jews because they have no business there," Abu Arar wrote in an email to Tom Nisani (Hebrew link), who had written MKs to complain that the site was closed to Jews last week by Israeli authorities as a measure to prevent altercations with Paleostinians on the site.

Writing in the name of "Students for the Temple Mount," Nisani wrote the MKs demanding that they "act with the police and the government to correct the injustice."

"I wrote before Shabbat to all 120 Members of Knesset to advise them of the injustice of the Temple Mount's (repeated) hermetic closure to Jews and tourists, [which happened] without explanation and without notice," Nisani wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

"This is how an MK in the state of Israel, Taleb Abu Arar, chose to respond a short time later," Nisani added, attaching an image of the email response from Abu Arar. "In his opinion, if I was born a Jew I have no right to go to the Temple Mount compound."

"So long as the state of Israel continues to permit the denial of its foundations and very existence, [they] will continue to eat away at its illusory sovereignty and harm its future. No more turning a blind eye. No more racism," wrote Nisani.

Reached by The Times of Israel on Monday, Abu Arar confirmed he had written the note.

"The Al-Aqsa Mosque, which sits on 144 dunams, is holy for Moslems, not Jews. Jews should find their holy places elsewhere until the coming of the messiah, as their rabbis say. I don't recognize the name Temple Mount. The Jews have nothing to look for there," he said.

The site has seen repeated festivities between Paleostinian rioters and police over Jewish visits to the site, especially during the Jewish Sukkot holiday this week.

On Monday, dozens of Arab rioters, primarily young men, were holed up in the Al-Aqsa Mosque atop the mount.

The site was closed to Jewish visitors since the middle of last week, but reopened Monday morning.

"Every day Israel causes unnecessary conflict and provocations by letting Jews go up there," Abu Arar charged. "I know and believe that it's the Al-Aqsa Mosque, holy to Moslems and not to Jews. The Mughrabi gate [from which non-Moslems can enter the site] has to be closed to Jews."

If there were even "a 1% chance that [the site might be] holy to Jews, I wouldn't get involved. There are many holy places to Jews where we don't intervene. But this is holy to Moslems. The [Jews'] entry to it is enflaming the region. We don't want conflict," he said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had been cornered by the banditti...
a Jewish MK, Likud's Moshe Feiglin, visited the site Monday and called for the removal of the protesters.

"The Temple Mount must be completely cleared of the savage mob, which must not be allowed a foothold or 'holy' places of refuge," he wrote, referring to the mosque on the site's southern edge where the protesters were holed up.

Despite the protests, "hundreds of Jews are finally going up to the mountain in joy," Feiglin wrote on Facebook. "Through them, the exclusive illusory sovereignty on the mountain will be returned to the people of Israel, and the state of Israel will invite every Jew to go and pray [there]."

In Ramallah, Ban Ki-Moon Blasts Settlements, Temple Mount Strife
[IsraelTimes] UN chief the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
on Monday slammed Israeli settlement building and warned against "provocations" at Jerusalem's holy sites, calling for renewed peace talks to avoid further conflict with the Paleostinians.

Ban was in the West Bank city of Ramallah, where he met Paleostinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, a day after a Cairo conference at which international donors pledged $5.4 billion (4.3 billion euros) to rebuild the war-ravaged Gazoo Strip.

"The amount that has been committed, pledged by the international community is quite encouraging," Ban said at a joint news conference with Hamdallah.

The funds would go towards the "urgently needed" reconstruction of infrastructure and homes, he said, referring to an "unprecedented" level of destruction in Gazoo where nearly 2,200 Paleostinians were killed in the 50-day war between Israel and Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, in July and August.

Israel says residential neighborhoods were targeted due to the practice of Gazook fighters of embedding rocket launchers among civilian homes and institutions, though the army also targeted homes of Hamas's leadership.

But "while rebuilding is important, we must tackle the root causes of instability," Ban said. "We must give renewed attention to the West Bank."

"I once again strongly condemn the continued settlement activity by Israel," the UN chief said, echoing international condemnation of plans for new homes on territory claimed by the Paleostinians.

The Palestinian prime minister said it is critical that donor nations keep their promises. He noted that after a previous war in 2009, only a small fraction of pledged money was actually sent.
The White House and European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
have slammed Israel's approval in September for 2,600 new housing units in East Jerusalem.

The settlements issue has led Paleostinians to stall or abandon numerous rounds of Israeli-Paleostinian peace talks.

"I am also deeply concerned by repeated provocations at the holy sites in Jerusalem. These only inflame tensions and must stop," Ban said.

His comments came hours after Israeli police and Paleostinian protesters clashed at the Al-Aqsa mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount.

Israeli police said Monday that they had received information about a group planning to throw rocks and Molotov cocktails at Jewish worshipers at the Western Wall, just below the Al-Aqsa site.

The site is holy to both Jews and Moslems, and is an underlying cause of Israeli-Paleostinian tension, which has heightened in Jerusalem since the Gazoo conflict.

Ban called for the two sides to revive a stagnant grinding of the peace processor that collapsed in April despite intense US efforts.

"I urge Paleostinians to show courage and continue engaging in the... grinding of the peace processor... (and) Israelis to do the same," Ban said. "I welcome renewed international politicianship and action. Time is not on the side of peace.

"We need to act immediately to prevent a deepening of an already unsustainable status quo... this is the only way to avoid yet another tragic conflict in the future," he said.

Hamdallah on Monday urged international donor nations to honor their pledges to send billions of dollars to help rebuild the Gazoo Strip.

Donor nations on Sunday promised to provide $5.4 billion, half of which is earmarked for rebuilding the war-battered territory. The Paleostinian prime minister said it is critical that donor nations keep their promises. He noted that after a previous war in 2009, only a small fraction of pledged money was actually sent.

"Our plans are ready for the reconstruction, but it depends on the flow of the money," he said at the meeting with the visiting UN chief. "In 2009, most of the pledged money did not come. We hope that this time is different."

Abbas: No reconciliation with Hamas before elections
[IsraelTimes] Dashing hopes of imminent Paleostinian Authority control over the Gazoo Strip, Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
said that reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, will not materialize before national elections are held next year.
So it was less than twenty-four hours that the intra-Palestinian comity lasted. So much for brotherhood, tra la!
Speaking to journalists in Cairo on Sunday following an international donor conference that pledged $5.4 billion for the reconstruction of the Gazoo Strip, Abbas said that Hamas continues to wield de-facto control over the coastal enclave that it took over by force in 2007.

"National reconciliation and an end to the [political] divide will be realized with the conducting of parliamentary and presidential elections," Abbas said in a message published by official Paleostinian news agency WAFA. "This was agreed upon in Egypt, Doha and Gazoo last April."

Hamas and Fatah jointly appointed a unity technocrat government in June, ostensibly ending seven years of political strife. According to the reconciliation agreement, the government was tasked with preparing for nationwide elections within six month, a timetable delayed by the Gazoo operation.

But Abbas had a falling out with Hamas over the summer, when two members of the movement kidnapped and killed three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank, sparking a powerful Israeli crackdown throughout the PA-held territories. At the same time, Israeli intelligence revealed information pointing at a Hamas plot to overthrow Abbas and instigate a third intifada, or violent uprising, in the West Bank.

In his message to the media, Abbas asserted that the Paleostinian government would take full control of Gazoo reconstruction money, and that "no faction or party has the right to receive these funds," a clear allusion to Hamas's ambitions to reap the political benefits of reconstruction.

"The international community and the donor states have high confidence in the performance of the Paleostinian Authority," he said.

ÙAbbas's comments were received with rage by Hamas. Salah Bardawil, a Hamas official in Gazoo, said that the Paleostinian president was clearly "not serious" about the need for national reconciliation.

"What about the Cairo and Gazoo agreements and the unity government that visited Gazoo just days ago?" mused Bardawil in an interview with Hamas daily Al-Resalah on Monday. "Is this not reconciliation?"

According to Al-Resalah, Abbas told journalists in Cairo that "there is no future for a country where more than half the people are militiamen, a situation that will never change without elections."

Bardawil said that Abbas's statements "destroyed everything previously agreed upon" and "poisoned the atmosphere of reconciliation."

Slain Hezbollah Leader's Son To Command Golan Front
[Ynet] Jihad Mughniyeh, whose father was assassinated, appointed as Leb-based group's commander on Syrian Golan.

Six years after Imad Mughniyeh, one of Hezbollah's senior military leaders, was assassinated, his son ‐ Jihad Mughniyeh ‐ was appointed as the terror group's commander in the Golan sector, according to a Syrian opposition member interviewed on CNN Arabic.

In the interview with the Dubai-based arm of the international news network, Mohd Razlan, a member of the Secretariat-General of the Syrian National Council, said the evidence points to Hezbollah's intent to expand its operations on the border with Israel.

Razlan warned of the potential for the group to create a crisis for the UN peacekeeping forces stationed in the area.

"We exposed the group's level of involvement in the Golan region during the takeover of the strategic Tel al-Harra. We have discovered many of the group's positions and evidence of its involvement in plans outlined for the Golan issue."

He said Hezbollah's plan for the region was long-term and talks of a possible withdrawal from Syria were a smokescreen.

Razlan noted that Mughniyeh junior, who is in his twenties, is close to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, his own father's replacement ‐ Mustafa Badr Al Din ‐ and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

"The significance is the potential for a security escalation for Hezbollah in Syria. The matter is of great concern to the Free Syrian Army

's intelligence, especially after the discovery of the documents in Tel al-Harra."

The rebels exposed numerous maps within the base, including of Israeli territory, with Russian captions: "Objectives and sources in Israel."

Report: Defections Will Not Impact Army's Determination to Remain Country's Backbone
[AnNahar] The increasing defection of troops from the Lebanese army is not expected to affect the military, which includes around 60,000 soldiers, despite fears that the institution is being targeted with a campaign to create chaos in its ranks.

Military sources told the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat that "the Lebanese army similar to any other army witnesses some defections but the focus on the recent cases was compelled by the fact that the runaway soldiers defected and joined the ranks of terrorist organizations."

"The fleeing of such soldiers doesn't impact the military negatively but rather cleans the institution from such models."

The sources ruled out reports saying that those who defected were kidnapped, confirming that they are runaways and have search warrants against them.

Any soldier who fails to show up at service would be considered a runaway after 42 hours and an arrest warrant would be issued against him. He would also be referred to the military court, which applies on the three soldier runaways.

"The three soldiers found a safe haven at these (terrorist) organizations," the source told the newspaper.

As Safir newspaper reported on Monday that the suspicious defection by some soldiers increases concern that the army is being targeted with a "dangerous ambush."

"There are attempts to create chaos and confusion among the ranks of the army."

Fugitive soldier Abdullah Ahmed Shehade, who hails from the town of Mashha, defected on Friday and joined the ranks of al-Nusra

Front hours after the group published a video in which soldier Mohammed Antar announced that he had "joined the jihadists."

Shehade is a member of the Fifth Intervention Regiment.

Antar, who is from the Rafik Hariri International Airport's guard platoon, said in his video that "he defected to the bully boy group to defend the Sunni community and in protest at Hizbullah

's practices."

The first time a Lebanese soldier defected to the Nusra Front in neighboring Syria was in July.

Corporal Atef Mohammed Saadeddine claimed in a video that his move came as a result of the injustice against Sunnis in Leb.

Islamists in the country claim that Sunnis are facing harassment by the army, which they accuse of working under the command of Hizbullah.

Three More Israeli Arabs Join Islamic State
[IsraelTimes] Three more Israeli Arabs have joined the Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. , Israeli police confirmed on Sunday.

Northern District police received information that the three men, all in their 20s and from the Lower Galilee town of Yafia, had flown to Turkey for the Eid al-Adha holiday, then crossed into Syria, Israeli media reports said.

A relative of one of the men said that the three cut off communication with their families once they reached Turkey. A fourth member of their party returned to Israel and passed along the message that they had gone to Syria "to fight against Assad's army."

"We told the police and we turned to Arab MKs to get involved in this episode. We are asking that they return the youths," the relative told Channel 10.

The Shin Bet internal security service and police believe that more than 30 Israeli Arabs have joined the Islamic State, also known by the acronyms IS, ISIS and ISIL.

The revelation comes after an Israeli Arab from a Galilean village was killed in recent days while fighting for the Islamic State in Iraq.

According to a report in Arabic weekly Al Arab, Ahmed Habashi, 24, from the village of Iksal near Nazareth, traveled to Turkey in January 2014 with four other Israeli Arabs, crossed into Syria and joined IS. He was killed near the Iraqi city of Ramadi, a battleground between the radical Islamist group and Iraqi government forces.

The circumstances of his death remain unclear, the report said.

Habashi's family was informed of his death by another Israeli Arab who joined the ranks of the Islamic State, Ynet reported. The family initially told Al Arab that they have yet to receive any official word concerning their son, and that his fate remains unknown. Later Saturday, though, his family confirmed that he had been killed.

Also among those known to be fighting with the Islamic State was Rabiya Shahade, 26, an Israeli citizen from Nazareth, who joined the jihadist group about a year ago.

Shahade, who goes by the name Abu Musaav Alsafuri in Syria, was described in a Yedioth Ahronoth report from last month as having had Christian and Jewish friends before he became radicalized. He left behind in Israel a wife and newborn son.

ISIS states its justification for the enslavement of women
[EDITION.CNN] In a new publication, ISIS justifies its kidnapping of women as sex slaves citing Islamic theology, an interpretation that is rejected by the Moslem world on the lam as a perversion of Islam.

"One should remember that enslaving the families of the kuffar -- the infidels -- and taking their women as concubines is a firmly established aspect of the Shariah, or Islamic law," the group says in an online magazine published Sunday.

The title of the article sums up the ISIS point of view: "The revival (of) slavery before the Hour," referring to Judgment Day.

The fourth edition of the group's English-language digital magazine called "Dabiq" said that female members of the Yazidi sect, an ethnically Kurdish minority living mostly in Iraq, may legitimately be captured and forcibly made concubines or sexual slaves.

The rationalization for a return to slavery -- repudiated around the world -- coincided with the release of a Human Rights Watch

#4  notwithstanding CNN's denialism, slavery exists in many parts of the Islamic world; in several north African countries, it exists with the explicit sanction of Islamic law; it other countries (Islamic and non Islamic) it exists as a privilege of the ruling class

The ISIS uses the Koran verse 4:24 as its basis for the policy of using sex slaves. CNN could have easily cited this verse but went PC.

#8  Saudi Arabia is certainly "Islamic" so as a point of comparison take a look at Veiled Atrocities: True Stories of Oppression in Saudi Arabia

"In Veiled Atrocities, Sami Alrabaa gives us an extraordinarily effective way of understanding the crimes committed by the Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia. Each heart-wrenching short story Alrabaa shares with us conveys, like few authors have been able to do, the ongoing humanitarian crisis of oppression in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Readers of Veiled Atrocities will finally begin to understand the human dimension and consequences of what radical Islamists have done in the name of Islam and continue to do to women, minorities, reformers and all those with the courage to take on the horrific oppression. Radical Islamists, police and monarchs are suffocating the Saudi population."

Government
Army: No plans to release results of Bergdahl investigation
The Army has no plans to release the results of an investigation into Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's disappearance and capture by the Taliban in 2009, a spokesman said Friday.

"We recognize the importance of the media and the public understanding of our investigative process, and look forward to future discussions on this issue. However, the Army's priority is ensuring that our process is thorough, factually accurate, impartial, and legally correct," Army spokesman Wayne Hall said in a statement.

The Army is looking into whether Bergdahl deserted his post or was absent without leave, both of which would punishable under military law and force him to forfeit hundreds of thousands of dollars in wages accrued during captivity.

Army Maj. Gen. Kenneth Dahl completed a review of this case this week, but Hall declined to set a timeline for a final decision.

“At this time, it would be inappropriate to speculate on the potential results or the amount of time the review process will take to complete," Hall said.

Bergdahl is currently on active duty and serving at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

Similar to the defeat of ISIS, this could take years, decades, no one really knows right General ?

But when SGT Bergdaul went missing, wasn't that event classified as a "Serious Incident" requiring an immediate AR 15-6 Investigation, or was walking off the FOB and being captured five years ago no real issue? How was SGT Bergdaul carried on the morning report, on regular leave ?

Could it be that this Taliban prisoner swap has been in the hopper with Bergdaul as the pawn, without the knowledge of Congress or the American people for years ?
