[Hot Air] Immigration officials took 105 immigrants and foreign nationals into custody in a five-day operation that included the arrests of several people wanted by Interpol for alleged crimes in their home countries, federal officials said Friday.
The sweep by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in 16 counties in N.J. also targeted immigrants who illegally re-entered the U.S. after deportation and several members of alleged gangs, including MS-13, officials said.
About 80 percent of those arrested had prior criminal convictions, ICE officials said.
"These outstanding results, which were made possible by our officers and law enforcement partners, highlight the tremendous commitment that ICE ERO has to public safety throughout the state," said John Tsoukaris, field office director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Newark. "Our focus has been and will continue to be on arrests of illegal aliens who have been convicted of serious crimes or those who pose a threat to public safety."

[NASAspaceflight.com] United Launch Alliance’s Delta IV Heavy rocket will try again next week to launch the mysterious NROL-71 mission for the National Reconnaissance Office following two scrubs. Friday’s initial attempt was scrubbed after ULA noted an issue with the hold-fire circuitry – specifically a redundant communication link between the control center and the launch site – required further work. Following a 24 hour recycle, all was proceeding to plan until T-7 seconds when an abort was triggered. It is not yet known when the next attempt will take place.
Like most activities conducted by the United States National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), specifics of the NRO Launch 71 (NROL-71) mission are classified. The NRO is the organization that operates America’s fleet of reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering satellites, using a variety of spacecraft types and surveillance techniques to support national defense and security.

Mysterious. Reports elsewhere say it's another KH-11 Keyhole. The Keyhole is turning out to be the M1911 of imaging satellites, many replacements have been proposed but it's so good that technologically massaging each new bird a bit is more than goon enough.

[DAWN] BRASILIA: At least 12 people were killed on Friday, including six coppers, in an early morning shootout between police and bank robbers in a small town in northeastern Brazil, the state governor’s office said.
Five hostages, including two children, died in the shootout, local media reported, when police interrupted a gang trying to rob ATMs at two bank branches on the main street in Milagres in the interior of Cear state.
"Our preliminary information is that 12 people died, including six coppers," a spokeswoman for the governor said by telephone.
The G1 news website, quoting Milagres Mayor Lielson Landim, reported that the five dead hostages belonged to the same family. Their car had been hijacked on a nearby highway and taken into town by the armed gang.
Broadcaster GloboNews said it was the family of a local businessman and that two suspects had been tossed in the calaboose Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! by police.
The gang escaped in two vans without taking any money, G1 said. A local press report said the body of one bank robber was found in an abandoned vehicle by police.
Police were searching for gang members with the help of a helicopter, the mayor’s office said.

After 9pm in some parts of Brazil it is lawful to run red lights if no cross traffic is at the intersection to prevent becoming a car jacking victim.~
[DAWN] French "yellow vest" demonstrators clashed with riot police in Gay Paree on Saturday in the latest round of protests against President Emmanuel Macron, but the city appeared to be escaping the large-scale destruction of a week earlier due to heavy security.
Armoured vehicles rolled through central Gay Paree as protesters, clad in their emblematic luminous safety jackets, threw rocks at police and set fire to barricades.
Shouts of "Macron, resign" mingled with tear gas on the famous Champs-Elysees avenue, and thick plumes of black smoke from fires rose high into the sky. Several cars were set alight.
But the pockets of violence were a far cry from the destruction and looting of a week earlier, when some 200 cars were torched in the worst rioting in Gay Paree in decades.
The government had vowed "zero tolerance" for anarchist, far-right or other trouble-makers seeking to wreak further havoc at protests that have sparked the deepest crisis of Macron's presidency.
Police reinforcements were boosted to 8,000 across the city, with armoured vehicles deployed in Gay Paree for the first time ever.
More than 650 protesters were detained in the capital, many of them stopped as they arrived at train stations or meeting points carrying hammers, petanque balls and other potential missiles.

Belgians are not subject to the Macron government’s laws and regulations, so why the fuss?
[AnNahar] Around 70 people were tossed in the clink Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit! Saturday in the Belgian capital Brussels during copycat "yellow vest" demonstrations rocking neighbouring La Belle France, police said.
The area housing European institutions including the offices of the European Commission and the European Parliament was sealed off as a precautionary measure.
Police put up barricades there and both vehicles and pedestrians were denied access.
The protesters gathered in two districts of the city -- Arts Lois and Porte de Namur -- but there were no incidents of violence.
"There have been around 70 arrests following checks carried out as a preventive measure," Brussels police spokeswoman Ilse Van De Keere told AFP.
According to Belga news agency, young protesters blocked a highway linking Brussels to the town of Rekkem in Flanders, located near the French border.
They also put up a barricade near the Franco-Belgian border close to Adinkerque, Belga said.
The "yellow vest" movement in La Belle France originally started as a protest about planned fuel hikes but has morphed into a mass protest against President Emmanuel Macron's policies and top-down style of governing.
It has spilled over to some other countries, including Belgium and especially in the country's French-speaking region.
On November 30, a "yellow vest" protest by some 300 people in Brussels degenerated into violence in which two police vehicles were torched.

The rumbling noise you hear is a preference cascade starting up.
Our media has been selling the riots as a protest against a French fuel tax increase. Whether they are doing this thru cluelessness or in service of someone's agenda is debatable.

It will be entertaining to see how the talking heads explain this.
[DAWN] Three unidentified motorcyclists on Saturday shot a mother and her daughter to death outside a court in Khanewal District's Jahanian tehsil, DawnNewsTV reported citing local police.
The women had arrived at the court for the hearing of a murder case, in which they had been released from the jail a few weeks ago.
They were scheduled to make their defence in the court today but unidentified button men on bikes opened fire on them outside the court premises. The women went titzup, while the killers expeditiously departed at a goodly pace.
Police cordoned off the area and transferred the bodies to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Jahanian for an appointment with Dr. Quincy.
According to police, a long-running family feud could be behind the murders, noting that seven other members of the same family have fallen prey to the prolonged conflict.
Police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else and launched an investigation into the case.

[DAWN] A man from Punjab's Muzaffargarh district murdered his three minor daughters and wife on Saturday over suspicions that she had 'illicit relations' with someone, police said.
The incident took place in Seetpur town of the district in the early hours of Saturday, according to police.
The man, after committing the brutal crime, turned himself in before the police, and handed over the knife which he had allegedly used to slit the throats of the four deceased, police officials told DawnNewsTV.
The bodies of the minor girls ‐ the youngest of whom was less than a year old and the oldest aged around 10 ‐ along with their mother were shifted to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The suspect, who is currently under police custody, confessed he had committed the murder as he had "doubts over his wife's character".
A case has yet to be registered against him.

[The Hill] A high-ranking member of the FBI in Oregon said that the agency does not designate the far-right Proud Boys as an extremist group, contradicting a report from a law enforcement official in Washington state last month.
Special Agent in Charge Renn Cannon said this week that there was a misinterpretation during a slide-show presentation hosted for officials at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in Vancouver, Wash., according to the Oregonian.
FBI agents briefed law enforcement leaders in Clark County about the Proud Boys, a far-right group which labels itself as "a pro-Western fraternal organization for men who refuse to apologize for creating the modern world; aka Western Chauvinists."
The slide-show presentation also included information on white supremacists, militia groups and anarchists, Cannon said.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office later released a report saying the Proud Boys is classified as an extremist group.
The Hill has reached out to the FBI for comment.
The FBI tries to characterize potential threats from members of the Proud Boys but does not designate groups, Cannon explained.
"We do not intend and did not intend to designate the group as extremist," he said of the presentation, according to the Oregonian.
In a statement to The Hill in November, the FBI emphasized its investigations "focus solely on criminal activity of individuals ‐ regardless of group membership‐which appears to be intended to intimidate or coerce the civilian population or influence the policy of the government by intimidation or coercion."
The agency also told The Hill, "The FBI can never initiate an investigation based solely on an individual’s race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, or the exercise of First Amendment rights."

The only thing the 'Proud Boys' do is show up at Antifa events. I don't think they plan any other events. More of an anti-extremist group.
