Afghanistan
Female Comedian Missing for Nearly 1 Month in Kabul
[TOLO] Some assembly required ©
Nadima, known as Patingara Kakai, an Afghan female comedian, went missing 25 days ago in Kabul, a relative said on Sunday.

The Islamic Emirate has yet make an official comment on the matter.

Nadima is a famous comedian who is well-known by Afghans. She makes funny videos and posts them on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.

A relative of Nadima, who wished to go unnamed, told TOLOnews that she went missing from her office nearly one month ago and since then there has been no information about her.

"A women called Nadima has been detained by the Taliban at her office. We call on the Islamic Emirate to put an end to these actions," said Moanisa Mubar, a women’s rights activist.

Meanwhile, Sayed Omid Kazimi, a family member of Sayed Baqir Mohsini, an Afghan professor who went missing on Friday, told TOLOnews that Mohsini was released today.

The disappearance of these two high-profile figures faced a widespread reaction by international organizations as well as Afghans on social media.

"The disappearances and detentions of Taliban critics, journalists & activists continue. Sayed Baqir Mohsini & Nadima are taken by the Taliban & there is no information about their whereabouts. This a group of dictators & repressors who must never be recognized & supported," said Samira Hamidi, a member of Amnesty International.

"The detention of political, civil and media activists is against the law and a violation of basic rights. Any detention should take place based on the legal system," said Sayed Javad Sijadi, a political analyst.

The government officials have yet to provide details about the recent disappearances. Earlier, the Islamic Emirate did not report the detention of female activists who had gone missing for several weeks.

Resident of Dagestan convicted of incitement to extremism
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court gave a two-year suspended sentence to a resident of Dagestan, finding him guilty of posting extremist materials on Instagram.

The case was considered by the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala. According to the security forces, the man posted extremist materials on a social network in April 2021. He was accused of committing a crime under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for extremist activities),

Taking into account the admission of guilt, the court sentenced him to imprisonment for a period of two years probation, RIA "Dagestan" reported today with reference to the press service of the regional FSB.

According to article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, public calls for extremist activity committed using the mass media or the Internet are punishable by up to five years in prison.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that in January the Kizilyurt District Court imposed a fine of two thousand rubles on a local resident, finding him guilty of publicly displaying extremist symbols on a social network.

Fifth Column
Hate-Hoaxing Atlanta Rioters Who Tried to Frame Trump Supporters Convicted
[PJMedia] A trio of Black Lives Matter and Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
rioters who tried to frame right-leaning groups were convicted of federal crimes, The Post Millennial reports.

John Wesley Wade, 35, Ellie Melvin Brett, 37, and Vida Jones, 19 were initially arrested in Oct. 2020 following a three-day spree of vandalism to police cars, postal property, and a bank in metro Atlanta. The three men planted notes that attempted to tie the crimes to the Proud Boys and other Trump-supporting groups.

"The suspects tried to frame the Proud Boys by leaving notes near the sites of vandalism that read ’Stand By,’ a reference to when former President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
told the right-wing group to ’stand back and stand by’ after he was asked to condemn white supremacist militias during the first 2020 presidential debate," reports Mia Cathell at The Post Millennial.

The crime spree began on Sept. 30, 2020, at a Walmart on the west side of Atlanta, when one of the men smashed the window of an Atlanta Police Department vehicle with a brick. The note referred to the 2020 election and the Electoral College. Similar phrasing to the wording on the note showed up on an Instagram account belonging to one of the three men.

An hour later, one of the men threw a brick through the window of a Wells Fargo branch in Midtown Atlanta, and then in the wee hours of Oct. 1, another APD vehicle was vandalized, this one parked at a residence not far from the Walmart where the first incident took place. These two acts of vandalism featured similar notes as the first incident — but these were only the beginning.

The next night, the trio graduated to arson, beginning with a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) police car parked at a train station. Then they set multiple fires at a post office in the West End area of Atlanta, damaging five USPS vehicles and destroying bulk containers of mail. Later, video footage at a nearby gas station showed one of the men buying another gasoline can.

In the south Atlanta suburb of East Point, the men set fire to two public works vehicles. Law enforcement found a note attached to a brick in one of the vehicles.

"The note stated ’*STOP the FAITHLESS ELECTOR vote in the WHITE HOUSE...and the FAITHLESS CHRISTMAS in the WHITE HOUSE;’ cited several Bible verses, but misspelled Jeremiah as "Jerimiah;" and included the Instagram handle, ’@NoFaithLessElector,’ associated with Brett," reported Cathell.

The three men filmed each act of arson and posted them on social media. On Oct. 4, an Instagram account reportedly associated with Jones posted footage of fire and police response to the East Point fires with the caption, Where’s the media coverage?"

A Twitter post from a now-suspended account from The Base, an Antifa group out of New York City, referred to the three as "comrades."

Brett pled guilty and will be sentenced March 22, and Jones pled guilty and faces a sentencing hearing on March 25. Wade received a sentence of five years for federal arson charges. Interestingly enough, at the time of the incidents, Wade was out on bond for his role in burning down a Wendy’s in Atlanta in the riots following the death of Rayshard Brooks at the hands of police.

Tellingly, the GPS data from Wade’s ankle monitor places him at the incidents of vandalism and arson. Sentencing guidelines also stipulate that any time he serves for the Wendy’s incident and for the property damage and arson spree will not run concurrently. Wade was one of 36 suspects arrested in conjunction with the burning down of the Wendy’s restaurant.

Iraq
Security forces seize 40 rockets and explosives in Kirkuk, arrests two terrorists in Diyala and al-Anbar

Shafaq News/ Iraq's Federal Police on Sunday has found more than 40 Austrian rockets and other explosives in al-Rachad district, Kirkuk.
What is an Austrian rocket? I realize my education in such things is lacking, but I had no idea the Austrians had something special in this line.
According to a statement issued earlier today, a force from the fifth division's 19th brigade of the Federal Police, in cooperation with the Federal Intelligence Agency, launched a combing campaign in the vicinity of al-Banadra village in al-Rachad district.

The security forces found more than 40 Austrian rockets, 20 explosive devices, and ten detonators, among other supplies.

The seized material were destroyed under controlled conditions by the accompanying Explosive Ordnance Disposal squads, the statement said.

Elsewhere, the Security Media Cell (SMC) reported arresting two persons with links to the terrorist organization of ISIS in Diyala and Nineveh in two separate operations.

Troops kill Palestinian hurling firebombs at military post in West Bank, IDF says
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces says troops shot and killed a Paleostinian who allegedly hurled Molotov cocktails at a military post near the West Bank town of Abu Dis, near Jerusalem.

According to the IDF, troops identified two suspects hurling Molotov cocktails in the area, and opened fire.

The second suspect expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, the IDF says.
Israeli troops shot and killed a 16-year-old Paleostinian on Sunday night in the West Bank when he threw Molotov cocktails at a military post, the army said.

The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry identified the teenager as Yamen Nafiz Jaffal. He was shot in his hometown of Abu Dis on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

According to the Israeli army, Jaffal threw Molotov cocktails at a military observation post, alongside another Paleostinian. Soldiers spotted the two during a "pre-planned operation" inside the Paleostinian town, the army said.

Six Paleostinians have been killed in violent mostly peaceful confrontations with Israeli troops over the past two weeks.

Far-right MK pulls gun on alleged Palestinian rock-throwers in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Far-right MK Itamar Ben Gvir whipped out a rod on a group of Paleostinians who were allegedly throwing rocks at Israeli vehicles traveling along Route 60 near the al-Aroub refugee camp in the West Bank, according to Hebrew media reports.

Ben Gvir tweeted that he "was forced to pull his weapon to drive away" rock-throwing Paleostinians near al-Aroub until law enforcement officials could arrive.

There was no immediate confirmation from the military or the police.

The Religious Zionism MK claimed that he encountered "dozens of terrorists" who were throwing rocks at Jewish cars. Ben Gvir said that two IDF soldiers at the scene told him that they were not authorized to fire at the rock-throwers and were awaiting reinforcement.

"Didn’t we say that we changed the rules of opening fire? We must stop abandoning our soldiers!" Ben Gvir tweeted.

The MK was referring to a decision in December by the IDF allowing troops to shoot at Paleostinians who had thrown rocks or Molotov cocktails at cars, even if the assailants no longer present an immediate threat. The IDF noted at the time that the military’s preferred outcome is still an arrest without shots being fired.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, and some media reports indicated that the Paleostinian rock throwers had begun to disperse before Ben Gvir drew his weapon.

The incident occurred less than a few hours after two coppers were maimed in a Jerusalem stabbing attack. The Paleostinian attacker was rubbed out.

Following that incident, Ben Gvir called for Police Chief Kobi Shabtai and Public Security Minister Omer Barlev to resign.

Ben Gvir is currently under investigation for an incident last year in which he pulled out a pistol during an altercation with Arab security guards over a parking spot.

He was questioned by police last month over the incident. Lawmakers from both coalition and opposition parties called for further investigation into the circumstances of the incident, with a focus on Ben Gvir’s suitability to have a gun permit.

Known for his anti-Arab rhetoric, Ben Gvir has had a number of run-ins with the law and with Arabs, including fellow politicians. Prior to entering the Knesset, the ultra-nationalist was a lawyer who represented Jewish terror suspects.

Two police officers wounded in Jerusalem stabbing; Palestinian attacker shot dead
[IsraelTimes] Two coppers were maimed in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem’s Old City early Sunday, before the 19-year-old Paleostinian assailant was rubbed out, officials said.

According to police, the resident of East Jerusalem came up to the coppers with a knife and attacked one of them in the city’s Moslem Quarter at around 4:30 a.m.

Officers shot up the attacker, and he was declared dead at the scene shortly thereafter.

The assailant was later named as Karim Jamal al-Qawasmi from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of at-Tur.

A second officer was hurt in the leg when he was shot by so-called friendly fire as his colleagues opened fire toward the assailant.

The two officers were taken to hospital in good-to-moderate conditions, police said.

"In the coming period, and until after Ramadan, gunnies and turbans will try to set the area on fire. Police and Border Police will be alert and ready," Public Security Minister Omer Barlev, who oversees the police, said in response to the attack.
The Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, terror group claims as its member the Paleostinian attacker who stabbed two Israeli officers in Jerusalem’s Old City earlier tonight.

"Hamas mourns its son, the martyr Abd al-Rahman Jamal Qasim from al-Jalazone camp north of Ramallah," Hamas says in a statement circulated in the group’s official media.

Israel shot down two Iranian drones on their way to Gaza last year - report
[JPost] An indication they're not getting great smuggling results? How much can a covert drone carry?
It is estimated that this was an attempt by Iran to find out whether it was possible to "open an axis" of supplying weapons to Gaza using unmanned vehicles.

In the first-ever publicized operational interception, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit announced on Sunday evening that F-35 aircraft intercepted two Iranian UAVs en route to the Gaza Strip with a cargo of pistols.

The interception occurred in March 2021, before the 11-day war between Israel and Hamas. The aircraft that shot them down were 'Adir' fighter jets.

It is estimated that this was an attempt by Iran to find out whether it was possible to "open an axis" of supplying weapons to Gaza using unmanned vehicles.
But Israel is only announcing their work now, a year later.
The interception was coordinated with Israel's neighbors,
Oh? Fascinating.
thereby preventing infiltration into Israel.

The UAVs were tracked by intelligence throughout their journey.

This is a developing story.

Syria says the strike at around 5 a.m. hit several targets south of the capital and also caused property damage.

It only takes one getting through...

Activist killed in Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A young man was killed and another injured as they were targeted by unknown gunmen yesterday in Daraa city, southern Syria.

Mahmoud Abazid was shot dead by unknown gunmen in al-Qusoor neighborhood in the city center, a local source told North Press.

Another young man, identified as Abdullah Abazid was injured in the same accident.

Mahmoud was a former media activist and worked for news coverage in Daraa before it was controlled by the Syrian government forces in 2018, the source said.

Mahmoud never joined a military group of the armed opposition, the source added.

The government forces deploy the most in al-Qusoor neighborhood where a security zone of the government locates.

During the Syrian war, the neighborhood remained under the control of the government forces.

Recently, multiple assassinations, mostly against former opposition members who underwent a settlement process, have been committed in Daraa. The perpetrators are unidentified and the Syrian government forces have not tried a little bit to uncover the identity of the perpetrators, according to the locals.

ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions arrested yesterday a civilian of Afrin countryside, north of Aleppo, northern Syria.

A group of the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sham faction arrested Muhammad Sido, from Rajo district, on the pretext of dealing with the former Autonomous Administration, a local source told North Press.

Iran has used advanced air defense batteries against Israel in Syria
[JPost] Since Iran has deployed new air defense batteries in Syria last year, the IAF has had to change how they carry out their strikes

Iran has used advanced air-defense batteries against Israeli planes carrying out war-between-war operations in Syria in an attempt to challenge IAF pilots.

Tehran first deployed the batteries to Syria last year as Israeli strikes against Iranian weapons and military infrastructure intensified.

Since Israel began its war-between-wars campaign (known as mabam in Hebrew) in 2013, the IAF has carried out thousands of strikes to thwart Iranian entrenchment and the smuggling of advanced weapons to Hezbollah in Syria and Lebanon. According to foreign reports, it has also carried out strikes in Iraq and Yemen.

The Syrian Arab Army is equipped with a range of older Russian-made surface-to-air missile systems, including the SA-2, SA-3, SA-5, SA-6,-SA-8, SA-11, SA-17, SA-19, SA-22 and the Pantsir 1.

Russia has also deployed advanced S-300 and S-400 air-defense batteries but has not given them to the Syrians; instead, they are manned by Russian forces. They have yet to be used against Israeli pilots due in part to the ongoing safety mechanisms in place between Jerusalem and Moscow.

The response time of Syrian SAMs has decreased, and more than 1,000 missiles have been fired at IAF jets over the past seven years, but they have been unable to deter their missions.
*Snicker*
Iran also separates the radars of their SAMs from the missile launchers, leading the IAF to change its operational procedures by sending up larger formations to hit more targets at once rather than having jets return to the same target and risk being downed.

In 2018, an F-16 crashed in northern Israel after it was struck by an SA-5 missile fired by Syrian forces during an IAF operation. Syrian missiles have also landed in Israel in recent years, including this year, when shrapnel from one missile hit northern Tel Aviv, and another errant interceptor missile landed close to the Dimona nuclear site in the Negev Desert.

In July 2020, Ali Abdullah Ayyub, the deputy commander of Syria’s armed forces, and Maj.-Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, signed an agreement to broaden bilateral military cooperation and to develop a robust air-defense system for Bashar Assad’s regime.

"From now on, Iran will strengthen its ties with Syria even more on all levels," Bagheri said at the time.

Since their introduction, the IAF has been studying the Iranian batteries, which have architecture unlike that of the Russian batteries.
It’s good to give the Israelis a mental challenge from time to time.
