Man launches apparent drug-fueled rampage on UES, injuring 4
[NYPOST] A man went on an apparent drug-fueled rampage on the Upper East Side on Monday morning, randomly attacking four people, cops said.

The 32-year-old suspect began his violent mostly peaceful spree just after 8 a.m., when he punched a man at East 96th Street and Second Avenue without provocation, authorities said.

The assailant then moved three blocks north to East 99th Street and Second Avenue, where he hit a man over the head with a bottle, shattering it, police said.

The suspect then used the bottle fragments to cut a woman at the same intersection, cops said.

His spree ended around 8:30 a.m. on East 92nd Street near York Avenue after he allegedly assaulted another man. Cops did not provide details on that attack.

The unidentified suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the fourth assault and brought to Metropolitan Hospital, apparently because of his intoxication, cops said.

Charges were still pending against him.

All of the male victims were also taken to Metropolitan Hospital and the female to Harlem Hospital. The victims were all reported to be in stable, pH balanced condition, police said.

Teen accused of killing Bronx girl with 'ghost gun' to be tried in supreme court
[NYPOST] The Bronx teen accused of killing a 16-year-old girl with a "ghost gun" will be tried in supreme court, not in family court as a juvenile, a judge has ruled — ensuring more prison time if there’s a conviction.

Jeremiah Ryan, 17 — who is facing murder, attempted-murder and gun charges in the April 8 bystander shooting of Angellyh Yambo near University Prep Charter HS — would have faced up to only five years in prison if convicted in family court.

But Bronx Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
Justice Naita Semaj ruled Thursday that Ryan will be tried in grown-up court — although as an adolescent offender as required by law because of his age.

That means Ryan, who had no prior criminal record, will still get more lenient treatment if convicted — but at least he’ll face a maximum of 15 years to life in prison on just the second-degree murder charge if found guilty. If he were 18, he could have faced 25 years to life behind bars.

US immigration officials detain more than 5,000 migrants from Ukraine in March
[FoxNews] CBP detained most of the Ukrainians at the U.S.-Mexico border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained more than 5,000 Ukrainians at U.S. land, sea and air borders in March, according to new data released Monday.

CBP reported a total of 5,071 Ukrainians detained last month. That represents a significant increase from the 1,146 who were detained in February. CBP detained most of the Ukrainians at the U.S.-Mexico border. The data shows that a total of 3,274 were detained at the southwest border, another major increase from the just 272 Ukrainians who were detained there in February.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Monday that the Biden administration is extending temporary protected status for Ukrainians for another 18 months. DHS said the designation will allow eligible Ukrainians to stay in the U.S. and apply for employment authorization.

President Biden has previously said the U.S. will welcome up to 100,000 Ukrainians and others fleeing the war with Russia.

The United Nations reports that more than 4.9 million people have fled Ukraine since the war began on February 24. Most of the Ukrainians have sought refuge in neighboring countries including Poland, Romania, Hungary and Moldova. The vast majority, nearly 2.8 million Ukrainian refugees, have sought safety in Poland.

Somalia: Al-Shabab claims mortar attack as new lawmakers meet
As of 12:55 a.m. ET, Garowe Online had nothing on this story. Perhaps there will be something later.
[DW] A mortar attack interrupted a parliamentary session in Somalia as the newly elected politicians were meeting in the heavily fortified compound. Somalia is trying to complete the process of choosing a new president.

Newly elected deputies attend oath-taking ceremony after the parliamentary elections in Mogadishu, Somalia on April 14
Several people were left injured after a mortar attack struck the area around Somalia's parliamentary building on Monday just as newly elected politicians convened for only the second time.

Officials and witnesses reported that shells landed inside the heavily fortified compound, but that no politicians were hurt. The explosions were also heard over the live stream of Monday's lower house parliamentary session.

Al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
, an Islamist murderous Moslem group with connections to al-Qaeda, grabbed credit for the attack. The group has been waging an insurgency against the government in Mogadishu for over a decade.

UN CONDEMNS ATTACK
"We have no details yet but these explosions were caused by mortar fire; the politicians were safe and unharmed inside the building when the incident occurred," a security officer who asked not to be named told the AFP news agency.

"I was in the area when the mortar shells landed outside the building where the parliamentarians were meeting; several people were maimed lightly in one of the blasts," another witness said.

The UN's mission to Somalia, UNSOM, tweeted its condemnation of Monday's mortar attack, saying it "wishes a speedy recovery for the injured, and stands firm with Somalis in their efforts to complete the electoral process and progress on national priorities."

SOMALIA'S COMPLEX ELECTORAL SYSTEM
The newly elected members of the Senate and the House of the People were sworn in on Thursday following elections that had been postponed for over a year.

Only 297 out of 329 seats were filled, but politicians pledged to move ahead with the electoral process that has been marred by a power struggle between the sitting president and prime minister.

The two houses of parliament will vote on their speakers later in the month, a necessary step before proceeding to the election of the country's new president.

Somalian elections follow a complex indirect mandate system where state legislatures and clan delegates choose politicians, who then choose the president.

Al-Shabaab claimed three attacks carried out last month that killed over 50 people, including Somali politician and outspoken government critic Amina Mohammed Abdi. They also claimed an attack last week onMogadishu's airport during a ceremony in which the new politicians officially took their seats in parliament. Nobody was injured, according to Europa Press.

Far-right politician's threats to burn Quran sparks weekend of violence in Sweden
[NYPOST] A far-right Danish politician’s threat to burn the Koran and pour "pork blood" on it gave rise to riots in Sweden over the past few days.

Anti-Moslem and far-right political party Stram Kurs planned to hold a demonstration in the town of Landskrona, but announced a change of venue to the city of Malmo after protesters threw stones and set fires to cars, tires and garbage cans.

Kim Hild, a spokesperson for the police in southern Sweden, said that authorities would not revoke permission for the anti-Moslem demonstrations since they had not breached the threshold to deny free speech.

BLM protester gets laid out by black police officer in Pennsylvania
[Right Scoop] A BLM protester in Pennsylvania yesterday got laid out by a black cop in Wilkinsburg after the radical group refused to comply with officers and began fighting with them.

These BLMers were trying to protest in the middle of the street, which is absolutely unlawful.

The one officer made that clear but the loud mouth girl in the video suggested to officers that BLMers had a right to protest anywhere they wanted.

The officers began to remove them by force and that’s when the protesters began resisting and fighting.

That’s when the magical moment happened and one of the black officers went all Will Smith and laid out the big girl with a punch to the face.

Couldn’t have happened to a more worthy perp. Watch the video for more...

Pennsylvania police officer punches BLM protester after loud shouting match
[FoxNews] The protester was arrested and later released

Black Lives Matter protesters got into an altercation with police in Pittsburgh that ended with a black officer striking one of the protesters, according to images captured at the scene.
By doing so he made himself functionally white, according to the left wing of the Democratic Party and their totalitarian fellow travellers, regardless of actual melanin content or life experience.
A group of roughly 20 activists gathered to protest the death of Jim Rogers
...some homeless guy who got himself killed by the police, giving Antifa/BLM another excuse to run riot...
who died in the hospital after being tasered by eight police officers in October. Several officers from the Wilkinsburg Police Department and others soon arrived on the scene and declared the event an unlawful assembly, ordering the group to stop blocking the street.

When the group continued to ignore police orders, officers attempted to arrest one of the protesters. Another activist stepped between the arresting officer and the protester, leading to a violent scuffle in which the officer punched the intervening protester, who then fell to the ground.

Another officer with a police dog pushed protesters away as the first officer held the activist down.

It took less than five minutes from the moment police exited their vehicles for the scene to deteriorate. Police arrested both the first protester and the activist who attempted to intervene, though that individual was released later Saturday.

Pittsburg fired five of the eight officers who used tasers on Rogers, the city announced at the end of March. Rogers' death was ruled an accident, however, and the other three officers will remain in their posts.

The Wilkinsburg Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Grand Turk
Turkey launches invasion of Iraq
[RT] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
has begun a major cross-border military offensive, targeting Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) snuffies in the northern part of Iraq, according to the Defense Ministry, in Ankara.

The operation involves an extensive Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
campaign using jets, helicopters, and drones, as well as a ground incursion by commando troops, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced in a video address on Monday morning.

Ankara claims it successfully destroyed multiple bunkers, tunnels, and ammunition depots, as well as military headquarters of the PKK in northern Iraq’s border areas of Metina, Zap, and Avashin-Basyan, before ground forces moved into the neighboring state. It is unclear how many troops and military hardware are involved in the operation.

"Our operation is continuing successfully, as planned. The targets that were set for the first phase have been achieved," Akar said, as cited by AP.

Ottoman Turkish forces are only targeting "terrorists," taking extra precautions to avoid the loss of civilian lives and damage to cultural heritage sites, the minister claimed.

"Our struggle will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized," he said. "We are determined to save our noble nation from the terror misfortune that has plagued our country for 40 years."

Iraq
Turkey begins fresh offensive in Iraq
More on this story from yesterday.
[Dawn] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
on Monday said it has launched a new air and ground offensive against outlawed Kurdish bandidos gunnies in northern Iraq involving special forces and combat drones.

Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said commando units, unmanned aerial vehicles and attack helicopters were pounding Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) hideouts in three restive regions near the Ottoman Turkish border.

Designated as a terrorist group by Ankara and its Western allies, the PKK has been waging an insurgency against the Ottoman Turkish state since 1984 that has claimed tens of thousands of lives.

Turkey routinely carries out attacks in Iraq, where the PKK has bases and training camps in the Sinjar region and on the mountainous border with Turkey.

"Our heroic pilots successfully struck shelters, caves, tunnels and ammunition depots belonging to the terrorist organization," Akar said.

"A large number of bully boyz were neutralised," he said, adding that the scale of the operation will "further increase in the coming hours and days".

Akar would not say how many troops were involved in the operation, which he said started on Sunday night.

Asked to comment on Turkey’s operation, a PKK front man in Iraq said on condition of anonymity: "The occupation army, which tried to land troops by helicopters, also wanted to advance by land.

Clashes erupt between Iraqi army, PKK-affiliated force in Shingal

Footage, shared by the PKK-affiliated Denge Chira Shengale news outlet, purportedly shows a group of Iraqi soldiers surrounding a checkpoint in Sinune subdistrict controlled by the PKK-affiliated Ezidkhan Asayish.

Rojnews, another PKK-affiliated news outlet, claimed that the Iraqi army asked Ezidkhan Asayish to hand over the checkpoint but they refused, leading to armed festivities. Two civilians as well as a number of the members of both forces were maimed but their identities remain unclear.

The festivities took place late afternoon and lasted for a couple of hours. However,

Clashes between the Iraqi army and PKK-affiliated forces in Shingal have taken place several times. The Iraqi government and the KRG signed an agreement in 2020 to "normalise" the situation which includes the withdrawal of all PKK-affiliated forces in the city. The agreement has been rejected by the PKK and its proxies.

The Iraqi army has yet to comment on the fresh festivities.

Turkey launched a new military offensive against the PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region late last night. The PKK media claimed that the Iraqi army is supporting the operation by attacking PKK-affiliated forces in Shingal.

2 Palestinians shot in West Bank clashes with IDF; army says they attacked troops
[IsraelTimes] Two men said seriously maimed; military says they hurled explosives at soldiers amid festivities in town of Yamoun, near Jenin; gunfire also reported in area

Two Paleostinians were shot and seriously maimed during festivities with Israeli troops in the northern West Bank on Monday morning, Paleostinian health officials said.

A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces told The Times of Israel that the two men attempted to hurl bombs at troops who were conducting arrests in the town of Yamoun.

"Dozens of Paleostinians gathered in the area, hurled stones and threw explosives at the forces. The troops fired at suspects who tried to hurl explosives at them. Hits were identified," the spokesperson said.

Footage posted to social media purported to show the two men sprawled on the ground, as Israeli soldiers were seen in the background.

According to the Paleostinian Authority’s health ministry, the two men were taken to a hospital in the nearby city of Jenin.

No Israeli troops were hurt in the operation, the military spokesperson said.

The IDF later said in a statement that troops detained 11 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank overnight Sunday, including four who were suspected of attacking an Israeli man in the town of Husan last week.

Recent weeks have seen an uptick in military activity in the northern West Bank amid a spate of deadly attacks in Israel, some of whose perpetrators came from the area.

IDF says it struck Hamas weapons depot in Gaza in response to 1st rocket in 4 months
[IsraelTimes] Military reportedly doesn’t believe terror group launched rocket but says it holds enclave’s rulers responsible; no immediate reports of injuries or damages

The Israeli military struck targets in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip after midnight on Tuesday in response to a rocket fired from the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-controlled enclave hours earlier.

The rocket attack was the first in nearly four months, ending one of the longest periods of quiet on the Gaza border in years.

The Israeli military said in a statement that it bombed a number of targets, including a site used by Hamas to manufacture weapons. Hamas-affiliated media reported that the Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s targeted a site operated by Paleostinian factions west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Witnesses and security sources in the Gaza Strip reported no injuries from the air raid.

"The IDF considers Hamas responsible for what unfolds in the Gaza Strip," the army said.

Hamas front man Hazem Qassem sought to downplay the strikes."The Zionist bombing of some empty sites [is] a failed attempt
...Curses! Foiled again!...
to prevent our Paleostinian people from defending the city of Jerusalem," he said.

"Congratulations to the men of the resistance who confronted the fighter jets with our anti-aircraft defense," Qassem added, saying it had been the first time that Hamas had used the surface-to-air missile.

The pro-Hezbollah television network al-Mayadeen said Hamas used a SA-7 shoulder-fired missile, also known as a Strella.

The IDF did not mention any damage to its own aircraft during the strike.

An unnamed security source told the Kan public broadcaster the air force operates under the assumption that Hamas has anti-aircraft missiles and that the terror group has previously deployed them during Israeli strikes.

The rocket fired at southern Israel on Monday evening was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system. There were no reports of injuries as a result of the attack. The Eshkol regional council said there was no change in instructions for residents.

Following the rocket firing, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, and military chief Aviv Kohavi held a meeting to discuss a potential response, according to Hebrew-language media reports.

The attack came amid escalating Israeli-Paleostinian tensions, following festivities and violence in the Old City of Jerusalem, a series of deadly Paleostinian terror attacks and stepped up IDF activity against terror groups in the West Bank.

There was no immediate claim by any of the Gaza-based terror groups for the rocket fire. Paleostinian sources cited by the Kan public broadcaster and the Ynet news site said the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
was believed to be behind the attack.

After the rocket fire, Hamas reached out to Israel through Egyptian mediators in order to stress that it wasn’t interested in further escalation and had not been behind the attack, according to Kan.

In the past, Israel has responded with airstrikes against sites belonging to Gaza’s rulers, Hamas, regardless of the group launching the attack. More rarely, it has directed its response at Islamic Jihad, if the terror group grabbed credit. It is largely believed that Hamas has enough of a stronghold in the enclave that no rival group would fire at Israel without the ruling group’s tacit approval, at the very least.

The last time rockets were fired from the coastal enclave toward Israel was on January 1, 2022. At the time, no sirens sounded as the two rockets landed in the sea off the coast of Tel Aviv. Still, the IDF responded with a series of airstrikes against Hamas targets.

On Sunday afternoon, sirens sounded in the town of Nahal Oz, in what the IDF said was a false alarm.

The last few days have seen violent mostly peaceful festivities between Paleostinians and police on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, leading to the injury of dozens of Paleostinians and several coppers.

Hamas and other Gaza-based terror groups have repeatedly invoked the flashpoint holy site as a red line. Police actions to quell riots there last year were among the triggers of an 11-day war in Gaza last May.

of Indonesia (NII) was plotting to overthrow the government before the next general election, police claimed Monday, saying they obtained documents related to the alleged conspiracy by interrogating 16 suspects arrested in West Sumatra last month.

Members of the group, founded seven decades ago, had drawn up plans, acquired weapons and undergone training to create chaos and establish a caliphate system of government, officials said, but declined to give more information or say whether the plot was still active.
