#1  Jeanne Crain was born in Barstow, California, on May 25, 1925. The daughter of a high school English teacher and his wife, Jeanne was moved to Los Angeles not long after her birth after her father got another teaching position in that city. While in junior high school, Jeanne played the lead in a school production which set her on the path to acting. When she was in high school Jeanne was asked to take a screen test to appear in a film by Orson Welles. Unfortunately, she didn't get the part, but it did set her sights on being a movie actress.

After her high school career, Jeanne enrolled at UCLA to study drama. At the age of 18, Jeanne won a bit part in Fox Studio's film entitled The Gang's All Here (1943) and a small contract. Her next film saw Jeanne elevated to a more substantial part in Home in Indiana (1944) the following year, which was filmed in neighboring Kentucky. The movie was an unquestionable hit. On the strength of that box-office success, Jeanne was given a raise and star billing, as Maggie Preston, in the next film of 1944, In the Meantime, Darling (1944). Unfortunately, the critics not only roasted the film, but singled out Jeanne's performance in particular. She rebounded nicely in her last film of the year, Winged Victory (1944). The audiences loved it, and the film was profitable.

In 1945, Jeanne was cast in State Fair (1945) as Margie Frake who travels to the fair and falls in love with a reporter played by Dana Andrews. Now, Jeanne got a bigger contract and more recognition. Later that year, Jeanne married Paul Brooks on New Year's Eve. Although her mother wasn't supportive of the marriage, the union lasted until her husband's death and produced seven children. The year 1947 was an off year for Jeanne, as she took time off to bear the Brooks' first child.

In 1949, Jeanne appeared in three films, A Letter to Three Wives (1949), The Fan (1949), and Pinky (1949). It was this latter film which garnered her an Oscar nomination as Best Actress for her role as Pinky Johnson, a nurse who sets up a clinic in the Deep South. She lost to Olivia de Havilland for The Heiress (1949). Jeanne left Fox after filming Vicki (1953) in 1953, with Jean Peters. She had made 23 films for the studio that started her career, but she needed a well-deserved change. As with any good artist, Jeanne wanted to expand her range instead of playing the girl-next-door types.

She went briefly to Warner Brothers for the filming of Duel in the Jungle (1954) in 1954. The film was lukewarm at best. Jeanne, then, signed a contract, that same year, with Universal Studios with promises of better, high-profile roles. She went into production in the film Man Without a Star (1955) which was a hit with audiences and critics. After The Joker Is Wild (1957) in 1957, Jeanne took time off for her family and to appear in a few television programs. She returned, briefly, to film in Guns of the Timberland (1960) in 1960. The films were sporadic after that. In 1967, she appeared in a low-budget suspense yarn called Hot Rods to Hell (1966). Her final film was as Clara Shaw in 1972's Skyjacked (1972).

Jeanne died of a heart attack in Santa Barbara, California, on December 14, 2003. Her husband Paul Brooks had died two months earlier.

Libyan Army Kills ISIS 'Mastermind 'in South Libya
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Wednesday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) announced that special operations forces had eliminated IS member, and criminal mastermind of the 2014 massacre of Egyptian Christians in Sirte.

The LNA added that the operation took place after a series of investigations, and follow-up of the terrorist, Mahdi Dango in the southern Libyan region of Murzuq.

The statement explained that Dango tried to escape, and had fabricated news of his death. This was after several IS fighters were killed.

The statement pointed out that "Dango is one of the most dangerous terrorist elements, as he is the criminal mastermind and planner of several operations and crimes, including the massacre of the Egyptian Copts."

The LNA added that they managed to arrest Dungo’s right-hand, Asman Nour during the operation.

Between 30 December 2014 and 3 January 2015, 21 Christian Egyptian migrants colonists were kidnapped in the city of Sirte in central Libya.

IS published an article about the kidnapping, accompanied by pictures, in a magazine it issues under the name ’Dabiq.’ A few days later, on 15 February, a 5-minute video was published showing the slaughter of the 21 Egyptians.

UAE-backed separatists kill prisoner of war taken in Abyan
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias have killed a prisoner of war who was taken captive during the attack on the their position on Tuesday in Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...

Media sources said officers from the Security Belt Forces had eliminated the only prisoner of the bully boys, who launched the attack on the checkpoint of the STC in Ahwar district, east of Abyan.

The slain prisoner is a Saudi national, according to the sources.

This killing of this prisoner was aimed aimed at burying and covering up the planners and financiers of the attack against the UAE-backed militias, which left 21 dead, including the commander of the "anti-terrorism battalion". In addition, six bandidos murderous Moslems of al-Qaeda were killed during the attack.

Iranian cyber espionage group 'APT42' targets Iranian opposition - report
[Jpost] APT42 impersonated journalists and researchers in order to lure victims in and access their accounts.

An Iran-backed cyber espionage group known as APT42 is believed to be behind a series of cyberattacks on organizations and individuals opposed to the Iranian government going as far back as 2015, according to a new report by the Mandiant cyber security company published on Wednesday.

According to Mandiant, the group uses phishing and social engineering in order to build trust and rapport with victims in order to collect intelligence on them and those close to them.

While many Iran-backed hacker groups focus on targeting the defense industries of foreign nations or collecting personal information, APT42 largely focuses on targeting organizations or individuals opposed to the Iranian regime.

Think tanks, researchers, journalists, government officials, healthcare facilities, and the Iranian diaspora have been targeted in at least 14 countries, including Israel and the UAE, as part of APT42's activity.

The group's activity seems to evolve as Iranian priorities change, according to Mandiant. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group targeted the pharmaceutical sector in 2020. Ahead of an Iranian presidential election, the group targeted domestic and foreign-based opposition groups.

APT42'S WAYS OF ATTACK
In multiple attacks, the group presented victims with a fake Gmail login page in order to harvest the targets' credentials.

APT42 often attempts to lure in its victims by impersonating journalists or researchers and conducting extended conversations with the targets before sending the malicious link.

In one attack, the group used a compromised email account belonging to a US-based think tank employee to target Middle East researchers at other organizations, US government officials, a former Iranian government official and members of an Iranian opposition group.

In another attack, the group impersonated a legitimate British news organization to target political science professors.

APT42 also uses mobile malware to surveil and monitor individuals of interest to the Iranian government, including members of Iranian opposition groups. Some of the attacks targeted people in Iran, including individuals with ties to universities, reformist political groups and human rights activists.

The group was able to record phone calls, activate the phone's microphone and record audio, extract images and take pictures on command and track the targets' location.

According to Mandiant, it is fairly certain that APT42 is operating on behalf of the Iranian government and there are strong indicators that the group is linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

APT42 in general seems to line up with activity other cyber security bodies have referred to as TA453, Yellow Garuda and ITG18, as well as some of the activity attributed to groups referred to as Phosphorus and Charming Kitten.

PAST ATTACKS LINKED TO AND SIMILAR TO APT42
In June, the Israeli cybersecurity firm Check Point reported that it was likely that Phosphorus was behind attempts to hack the emails of senior Israeli and American officials and executives, including former foreign minister Tzipi Livni and a former US ambassador to Israel.

That attack used emails impersonating a well-known former major general in the IDF and an American diplomat to lure in its targets.

In May, the Shin Bet revealed that Iranian hackers were attempting to lure Israeli businessmen and academics abroad in order to kidnap or harm them and to gather intelligence.

In that attack, the hackers also impersonated foreign and Israeli academics, journalists, reserve officers, businessmen and philanthropists and used the stolen identities and relevant cover stories in order to gather intelligence about Israelis and to lure them to locations abroad in order to kidnap or harm them.

The Shin Bet did not name the group behind that cyber operation.

Last year, the cybersecurity company Proofpoint reported that Phosphorus targeted senior medical professionals specializing in genetic, neurology and oncology research in the US and Israel in 2020.

In that attack, hackers used a Gmail account that was presented as belonging to prominent Israeli physicist and former president of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Daniel Zajfman.

Albania cuts Iran ties over cyberattack, U.S. vows further action
Albania severed diplomatic relations with Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on Wednesday and kicked out its diplomats after a cyberattack in July it blamed on the Islamic Theocratic Republic, a move Washington supported as it vowed to take action in response to the attack on its NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
ally.

Albania ordered Iranian diplomats and embassy staff to leave within 24 hours.

"The government has decided with immediate effect to end diplomatic relations with the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran," Prime Minister Edi Rama said in a video statement.

"This extreme response ... is fully proportionate to the gravity and risk of the cyberattack that threatened to paralyse public services, erase digital systems and hack into state records, steal government intranet electronic communication and stir chaos and insecurity in the country," Rama said.

There was no immediate comment from the Iranian Embassy
...You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!...
in Tirana. There were no police units around the Iranian embassy premises in Tirana.

The United States said it concluded after weeks of investigation that Iran was behind the "reckless and irresponsible" July 15 cyberattack.

"The United States will take further action to hold Iran accountable for actions that threaten the security of a U.S. ally and set a troubling precedent for cyberspace," the White House National Security Council said in a statement.

Albania and Iran have had tense relations since 2014, when Albania accepted some 3,000 members of the exiled opposition group People's Mujahideen Organization of Iran, also known by its Farsi name Mujahideen-e-Khalq, who have settled in a camp near Durres, the country's main port.

U.S. Cybersecurity firm Mandiant, which noted the hacking activity in a blog post earlier this month, said the group - which had ties to Iran - deployed a complex attack which used malicious data-wiping software against Iranian dissidents.

"This is possibly the strongest public response to a cyberattack we have ever seen," John Hultquist, Vice President of Intelligence at Mandiant, said in an emailed statement. "While we have seen a host of other diplomatic consequences in the past, they have not been as severe or broad as this action".

The move comes days after NATO member state Montenegro blamed a criminal group called Cuba Ransomware for a digital attack on its government infrastructure which officials there described as unprecedented.

"Even though the incidents are probably unrelated, regular disruptions to government infrastructure are an alarming trend," Hultquist said.

Albania has previously said it had foiled several planned attacks by Iranian agents against the Iranian opposition group.

"The in-depth investigation provided us with indisputable evidence that the cyberattack against our country was orchestrated and sponsored by the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran through the engagement of four groups that enacted the aggression," Rama said.

The U.S. government has been on the ground for weeks with private sector partners to investigate and help Albania recover from the attack that destroyed government data and disrupted public services, the White House said.

"We have concluded that the Government of Iran conducted this reckless and irresponsible cyberattack and that it is responsible for subsequent hack and leak operations," it said.

The United States called the attack unprecedented because it said it violated the peacetime norm of not damaging critical infrastructure that the public relied on.
