Israeli father, daughter arrested for trying to pimp out Ukrainian women
[Jpost] The arrest was the culmination of a 4-month investigation by police's Lahav 433 division regarding people bringing Ukrainian women to Israel to exploit them and make them work as prostitutes.

An Israeli father and daughter were arrested for plotting to bring Ukrainian women to Israel in order to pimp them out as prostitutes, the Israel Police Spokesperson's Office said Monday.

The arrest was the culmination of a 4-month investigation by the police's Lahav 433 investigative division which focused on people bringing Ukrainian women to Israel to exploit them and make them work as prostitutes.

The father and daughter criminal duo supposedly reached out to these women through Telegram and gave them instructions on how to enter Israel without being caught by border control.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN ISRAEL
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has sparked the most recent form of sex trafficking in Israel.

According to Naama Sabato of Lo Omdot Me’negged (Not Standing By Idly, which assists women in the cycle of prostitution), Men meet and invite vulnerable women, using platforms like Instagram and Telegram. There are even Israeli advertisements circling throughout Instagram calling for “beautiful women” to “work in Israel and make a lot of money” or “make money from home.”

Israel is currently ranked at level two out of three tiers for human trafficking in the US State Department’s 2022 TIP (trafficking in persons) Report. The report states that Israel does not meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking but is making significant efforts to do so by operating shelters and providing victims a wide variety of immediate and long-term care and rehabilitative services. However, the government did not meet the minimum standards and has not done enough to investigate and hold labor traffickers criminally accountable.

Alec Baldwin demands judge throw out mother, sister's lawsuit over Halyna Hutchins death, saying they were 'distanced from her for years'
[thepostmillennial] On Thursday, Alec Baldwin asked a judge to throw out a lawsuit filed by the sister and parents of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed in a fatal shooting on the set of Baldwin's low-budget movie Rust in Bonanza City, New Mexico on October 21, 2021, an incident for which the actor is facing involuntary manslaughter charges.

NBC News reports Baldwin said in the court filings, "The loss of a daughter and sister is undoubtedly painful in any circumstance. Yet Plaintiffs—who had been distanced from Halyna physically, financially, and emotionally for years before her death—have no viable cause of action against Defendants."
What a vile man he is, to be sure.
"This action is especially misguided," Baldwin added.
Remember when Alec Baldwin Called His Daughter a 'Rude, Thoughtless Pig'? Talk about distancing. Good Times. Good. Times.
The lawsuit was filed by Hutchin's parents, Olga Solovey and Anatolii Androsovych, as well as her sister, Svetlana Zemko in February and also names Rust Movie Productions, LLC, assistant director David Halls, and the film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

Baldwin said the family had "no viable cause of action" and was trying to "obtain compensation."

The lawyer for the Hutchins family, Gloria Allred, said the actor was "once again attempting to avoid responsibility."
Gloria Allred? My sympathy level just took a hit
"It is abundantly clear under New Mexico law, which will be applied in the California court that he is responsible for all of the harm he did to the entirety of Halyna Hutchins’ family. We are here to make sure that he is held accountable for his actions," Allred added.

In October 2022, Baldwin settled with Hutchins' estate, son, and husband Matthew Hutchins, in a wrongful death suit.

On January 31, Baldwin and Rust film armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were each formally charged with two felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act.

In February, Baldwin entered a plea of not guilty, and if convicted he could face 18 months in prison.

#3  Think its time to re-do the ending of Red October, when the American officers are on Red October's bridge.

But instead of the cook firing on the officers, its Alec Baldwin, and the cook is sent to track Alec down.

Or make the cook look like a movie famous attorney or bounty hunter or something. Maybe switchout Warren Beatty's Dick Tracy for Ryan the whole movie; that is Alec Baldwin as the cook passing by Ramius' quarters at the beginning.

Feds charge 40 Chinese police officials for repression efforts against U.S. residents
Had to get Biden out of the country to do it?
[JustTheNews] News of the charges comes the same day that the DOJ announced charges against individuals suspected of operating a clandestine police station in New York City on behalf of the Chinese National Police.

The Department of Justice on Monday announced that it had charged more than 40 individuals, many of whom are members of the Chinese national police, in connection with transnational repression schemes to stifle the activities of Chinese citizens abroad.

Two criminal complaints included charges against 44 defendants, 40 of whom are part of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) while another two are officials in the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC). The defendants allegedly partook in efforts to target Chinese individuals with political viewpoints of which the communist regime does not approve.

The first complaint targets 34 MPS officials, detailing their alleged use of fake digital personas to harass Chinese opponents of the communist regime. The operators of these fake accounts also made videos and wrote articles critical of U.S. policy on China and of Chinese dissidents.

The second complaint charges 10 individuals, six of whom are MPS officials. Two more are the CAC officials while the third is an China-based employee of a U.S. telecommunications company and the tenth is believed to reside in Indonesia. They face charges of conspiracy to commit interstate harassment and unlawful conspiracy to transfer means of identification.

Julien Jin, the China-based employee, first faced charges in 2020 as part of alleged scheme to disrupt company members commemorating the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre during which Chinese military personnel slaughtered peaceful demonstrators seeking democratic reforms in the country.

The updated complaint alleges that he and his co-conspirators worked to disrupt the activities of a Chinese dissident operating out of New York City by disrupting video chat meetings.

News of the charges comes the same day that the DOJ announced charges against individuals suspected of operating a clandestine police station in New York City on behalf of the Chinese National Police.

Report: Half of Border Crossers Bused to NYC Are Not Vaccinated Against Polio
[Breitbart] Half of the more than 50,000 border crossers bused to the sanctuary city of New York from Texas are not vaccinated against the often deadly poliovirus, officials revealed.

Since the spring of 2022, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has bused hundreds of thousands of newly arrived border crossers and illegal aliens to Democrat-controlled sanctuary cities like New York City, where more than 50,000 have arrived over the last year.

A letter authored by New York City Health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan obtained by the New York Post shows the extent to which New Yorkers could be exposed to viruses and diseases that have been eradicated from the United States due to the inflow of unvaccinated migrants.

In particular, Vasan notes that more than 25,000 of those border crossers who have arrived in New York City over the last year are not vaccinated against the poliovirus. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “between 2 and 10 out of 100 people who have paralysis from poliovirus infection die, because the virus affects the muscles that help them breathe.”

“Vaccination rates for certain diseases are low in some of the most common countries of origin, with rates hovering around 50 percent for polio as an example,” Vasan writes.

Likewise, Vasan admits there have been outbreaks of chickenpox among border crossers who are staying in the city’s shelter system. In addition, most of the newly arrived border crossers, Vasan writes, have traveled through countries with high rates of tuberculosis and thus ought to be tested for the disease so as not to spread it:

An outbreak of varicella is occurring among families who recently arrived and are residing in shelters and other facilities in NYC. Most cases have been among unvaccinated children, but cases have also occurred among young adults. [Emphasis added]

Many people who recently arrived in NYC have lived in or traveled through countries with high rates of TB [tuberculosis]. [Emphasis added]

News of the alarming number of border crossers arriving in New York City unvaccinated against polio comes after the Post reported that migrant children are enrolling and attending city public schools without meeting vaccination requirements.

Sarah Sanders vetoes $5 million in pandemic expenses for state agency: 'COVID-19 Pandemic is over'
[JustTheNews] COVID is over.
Biden told me himself.
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a line-item veto Friday for $5 million in pandemic expenses included in the Department of Corrections budget.

"During my first days in office, I terminated several existing Executive Orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic," Sanders said in her veto letter. "I believe in freedom and personal responsibility — not COVID mandates or shutdowns. The COVID-19 pandemic is over."

Sanders approved the remainder of the bill.

The veto is one of four issued by Sanders on Friday.

The governor also nixed a bill that would have increased stipends for Arkansas Board of Corrections members from $85 to $110.

"Elected officials have a responsibility to eliminate unnecessary spending at every level of state government," Sanders said in her veto letter. "Senate Bill 509 carries with it a price tag - an increase which cannot be justified to Arkansas taxpayers."

House Bill 1169, which would have created state licenses for behavior analysts, was vetoed by Sanders.

"This bill creates unnecessary and overburdensome regulation to Behavior Analysts that practice in the State of Arkansas," Sanders said in her veto letter. 'Behavior Analysts are already certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and are subject to regulation. Creating duplicative licenses with new fees attached is additional red tape that does not ensure additional protections for the public."

The fourth bill vetoed by Sanders would have created a statewide heart attack task force. The governor said the task force duplicates already-existing programs.

Arkansas law requires a majority of politicians in both houses to agree to override the governor's veto. Lawmakers return to Little Rock on May 1 to officially close the 2023 legislative session.

Budweiser releases new pro-America ad
[NYPOST] Budweiser has released a new patriotic advertisement as its parent company struggles with controversy over its endorsement partnership with transgender
...mutton, dressed up as pork...
influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

The advertisement, which was released on social media Friday, features one of Budweiser’s famous Clydesdale horses traversing the country from New York City to the Grand Canyon, passing by scenes in the American heartland as a narrator delivers a patriotic message.

"This is a story bigger than beer," the ad’s narrator says in the ad. "This is the story of the American spirit."
"and $6 Billion in market value blown up"
As the ad plays, the Clydesdale horse passes by some of the most famous American landmarks, showcasing the New York City skyline, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, small towns, and farmland.

At one point, the ad showcases two people raising an American flag as one places her hand over her heart.

"Brewed for those who found opportunity in challenge and hope in tomorrow," the ad’s narrator says as the horse passes by the flag raising duo and the Lincoln Memorial.

The patriotic ad comes as Anheuser-Busch, which owns Budweiser, continues to deal with backlash over a partnership between another one of its popular brands, Bud Light, and Mulvaney.

Anheuser-Busch has suffered a financial hit as calls to boycott its brands have spread across the country, with one Missouri bar owner telling Fox Business last week that sales of bottled Bud Light dropped 30%, while draft sales dropped 50%.

#3  I'd like to know where they got that take for The Arch?

I'd guess the Arch is a stock photo with some horse footage composited over the top. Notice how the ground the horse is standing on conveniently obscures the bottom of the background and gives you a nice line to mask against. (around 00:17)

Also, the light on the horse also looks a bit dark to me and does not quite match the light on the arch.

Huge mob ransacks California gas station; police 'outnumbered': video
Think the guy hiding in the bathroom wasn't 'terrorized'?
[FoxNews] A shocking video captured a mob of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, youth breaking into a gas station convenience store and then stealing what police say was thousands of dollars of products.

The incident happened early Sunday morning in Compton, California, after a large group of people blocked an intersection as part of a street takeover, with video footage capturing cars drifting in circles and screeching around 2:30 a.m., according to KLTA.

"It's unbelievable. Unreal. I've never seen anything like that happen here," Greg Johnson, a Compton resident and customer of the Arco Station that was looted, told ABC7 in reaction to the ransacking.

Re-fund the Police: L.A. Mayor Calls to Hire 1,000 Cops, Recruit from HBCUs
[Breitbart] LOS ANGELES, California — Newly-installed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass will call for the city to hire 1,000 additional Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers, after years of attrition thanks to her predecessor.

The LAPD used to have over 10,000 officers, but has fallen to just above 9,000. In 2020, as Breitbart News reported, then-Mayor Eric Garcetti bowed to the Black Lives Matter movement and promised to cut $150 million from the police budget — over 10% of the total — and to redistribute the money to “communities of color.” Garcetti, now the U.S. Ambassador to India, denied that LAPD cuts would lead to an increase in crime.

But crime has risen over the last four years from pre-pandemic levels — thanks also to L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón, a George Soros-backed radical whom Garcetti backed (after dumping incumbent Jackie Lacey, the first black woman to hold the post, whom Garcetti had previously endorsed for reelection).

Bass, who is set to deliver her first State of the City speech Monday, after 127 days in office, will unveil her proposal for more police in her budget speech on Tuesday. Notably, she will recommend that the LAPD recruit new officers from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) — a move to increase diversity on the force and overcome resistance from the political far-left.

Two NY residents arrested for running secret Chinese police station: 'Significant national security matter'
Now about those triads...
[FoxNews] The FBI and federal prosecutors announced Monday the arrests of two New York residents who allegedly ran an undisclosed Chinese government cop shoppe in Manhattan's Chinatown neighborhood.Lu Jianwang and Chen Jinping have each been charged with conspiring to act as agents of China's government, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Breon Peace, the U.S. Attorney for that office, said China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS) "has repeatedly and flagrantly violated our nation's illusory sovereignty, including by opening and operating a cop shoppe in the middle of New York City."

"Two miles from our office just across the Brooklyn Bridge, this nondescript office building in the heart of bustling Chinatown in Lower Manhattan has a dark secret. Until several months ago, an entire floor of this building hosted an undeclared cop shoppe of the Chinese National Police," Peace said. "Now, just imagine the NYPD opening an undeclared secret cop shoppe in Beijing. It would be unthinkable."

"Here's what we know happened inside the secret cop shoppe in Lower Manhattan. At the very least, the station was providing some government services, like helping Chinese citizens renew their Chinese driver's licenses," Peace continued. "But to do even that, the law requires that individuals like the defendants who act as agents of a foreign government give prior notice to the attorney general before setting up shop in New York City. That didn't happen."

"More troubling, though, is the fact that the secret cop shoppe appears to have had a more sinister use on at least one occasion," Peace added. "An official with the Chinese National Police directed one of the defendants -- a U.S. citizen who worked at the secret cop shoppe — to help locate a pro-democracy screeching muppet of Chinese descent living in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,. In other words, the Chinese national police appear to have been using the station to track a U.S. resident on U.S. soil."

"The two defendants whose arrests we're announcing today destroyed evidence of their communications with the Chinese national police when they learned of the FBI's investigation," Peace also said. "These two defendants knew they had something to hide, and they obstructed justice in an attempt to prevent the FBI from learning the full extent of what they were up to."

David's Bridal to sell company, lay off more than 9,000 employees nationwide
[NYPOST] David’s Bridal is laying off thousands of employees across the country as it makes plans to sell the company — just weeks before wedding season kicks off.

The country’s largest bridal retailer fired its first round of employees Friday and plans to lay off the rest in two separate phases that will stretch through August, a WARN notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor shows.

A total of 9,236 employees will be eliminated across David’s Bridal’s 300 stores in the mass sacking.

"We are evaluating our strategic options and a sale process is underway," a spokesperson told The Post.

"At this time, there are no updates to share, and all stores are open to serve customers. Providing excellent service remains our focus and we are committed to serving and delivering for our brides and customers and being part of magical moments."

Corporate employees were the first to get the ax, a similar WARN notice filed in Colorado shows.

Distribution center workers will be on the chopping block in June, while field and store employees will be fired from June through August.

Pakistan: Chinese worker in custody after mob accuses him of blasphemy
[Dawn] A Chinese national working at the Dasu hydropower project was taken into police custody on Monday following unrest, after labourers at the dam site accused him of making blasphemous remarks during a heated argument.

The man was booked on blasphemy
...the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable. Some religions consider it to be a crime. In Pakistain you can commit blasphemy by looking cross-eyed at a Koran...
charges in Upper Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
district and sent to prison on a 14-day judicial remand by an Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....
anti-terrorism court on Monday.

"We have arrested the foreigner suspect under blasphemy and terrorism charges and airlifted him from here to present him before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Abbottabad," Mohammad Khalid, the district police officer (DPO) in Upper Kohistan, told news hounds.

The suspect was later produced before the ATC amid strict security measures. Security personnel remained tightlipped about his place of detention, but the DPO said he was moved to Islamabad onboard a helicopter on Monday evening.

According to locals, the man had complained to workers at the dam that "precious time" was being lost due to prayer breaks.
No doubt.
This enraged some of the workers and they fanned out to nearby villages, whipping up emotions.
Of course they did. Frenzied protest is easier than actual manual labor.
A large frenzied crowd then made its way towards Kamila Bazaar and blocked the Karakoram Highway (KKH), threatening to storm the Dasu Hydropower Project (DHP) site if the Chinese man was not arrested.

A group of elders tried to pacify the crowd, advising them to give the police some time to handle the "delicate matter".
"THEN we hang him!"
An FIR of the incident was finally registered at the Kamila cop shoppe, Upper Kohistan, under Sections 295-C of the Pakistain Penal Code and Section 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The FIR quoted some workers and their interpreters as saying that the suspect had uttered "sacrilegious remarks" when they sought a break to offer prayers.

According to the FIR, police were informed on Sunday night about a mob trying to force their way into a Chinese camp near Barseen. A police party rushed to the place, cordoned off the area and shifted the suspect to Kamila cop shoppe.

As word about the episode spread, labourers at the Dasu dam site stopped their work.

ULEMA MEETING
Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, a new, even louder, voice was to be heard...
in a bid to defuse the situation, a team of Ulema from nearby towns and villages have set up a committee to examine the situation.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Upper Kohistan Deputy Commissioner Irfanullah Mehsood and District Police Officer Mohammad Khalid.

The participants called upon agitators not to take the law into their hands as police and the district administration were "handling the matter admirably".

Anwarul Haq, general manager at the project, said the situation on the ground was normal, but the protest had led to a suspension of work.

Attempts to get in touch with the Chinese side to obtain their version were unsuccessful.

The Dasu dam site was in the news earlier this month when a fire broke out at a warehouse and residential camps of Chinese engineers on April 4.

The fire, put down to short-circuit by officials, destroyed the residential zone, but there was no loss of life.
