Daniel Pipes: About Those 14 "Muslim-American Leaders" Who Met with Obama

#1  The money quote:

this meeting appears to have been pro-forma, part of the political preparation for the "Summit on Countering Violent Extremism" to be held at the White House on Feb. 18. The president invested an hour to protect his standing among his Islamist constituency.

Olde Tyme Religion
Islam™'s Countless Slaves
by Ralph Peters

[National Review] If President Obama wants to draw a moral equivalence between religions, he should know some history.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Pat Buchanan: Whose job is it to kill ISIS
[Takimag] Seeing clips of that 22-minute video of the immolation of the Jordanian pilot, one wonders: Who would be drawn to the cause of these barbarians who perpetrated such an atrocity?

While the video might firm up the faith of fanatics, would it not evoke rage and revulsion across the Islamic world? After all, this was a Sunni Muslim, in a cage, being burned alive.

As of now, this cruel killing seems to have backfired. Jordan is uniting behind King Abdullah’s determination to exact “earth-shattering” retribution.

Which raises again the questions: Why did ISIS do it? What did they hope to gain? Evil though they may be, they are not stupid.

Surely, they knew the reaction they would get? Several explanations come to mind.

#1  They are trying to precipitate the world ending apocalyptic war that will cause the 12th Imam to return.

#2  What's that, Lassie? You want us to follow you? The Imam is in the well?

#3  Why is defeating 30,000 ISIS jihadists our job, and not theirs? (Turkey, KSA, etc.)

Don't often agree with Buchanan but this is a good question.

#4  Listening to Buchanan reminds me of how much I miss the late Bob Novak.

#5  They are trying to precipitate the world ending apocalyptic war that will cause the 12th Imam to return.

The 12th imam is a Shiite thing, so that would be Iran. But Osama bin Laden was certain that by precipitating a massive war against the Ummah, Allah would be forced to intervene on the side of his true believers -- an awfully odd idea for someone who believes Allah reinvents the universe every second, changing it as his whim dictates, thereby erasing any possible relationship between [apparent] cause and [apparent] effect.

#6  I heard the voice of the lord saying, "Who shall I send, and who shall go for us?
If we don't do it we should surrender today. They have taken France, England is falling, our major allies are hobbled and they don't even know it. Like Poland before the blitzkrieg, we can stop it now or sacrifice an entire generation to stop it later...

FUG ?

#8  I think ISIS were figuring Abdullah would simply posture and Obama would pressure him to not act.

Abdullah acted quickly & decisively -- too quickly for Obama's slow mind and slow staff to react to in time to screw up the response.

#9  The great commission of the Prophet Isaiah is a Biblical verse nearly every volunteer soldier knows in his or her heart, whether he has ever read the Bible... Isaiah 6, verse 8.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I. Send me!""

#10  Why? Because fighting wars on behalf of Soddy Arabia is what we do. They bribe our politicians and they kick us in the shins and still we fight their wars for them. I rooted for the Kurds because I'm an American and Americans always root for the underdog especially when the underdog shows the kind of courage and tenacity that the Kurds have. But I don't give a rat's ass if ISIS invades Soddy Arabia and at the same time I rather enjoy watching the Mad Mullahs worry about ISIS.

Fundamental transformation: Soddy Arabia ---> Iran.
