[NYPost] The Russian invasion of Ukraine may already be running out of gas, if the video posted by one citizen is any indication.
The minute-long clip shows a man driving up to a group of soldiers and what appears to be a Russian tank, stopped on a rural road. "Are you guys broken down?" the man asks the soldiers.
"Out of fuel," one responds.
"Can I tow you back to Russia?" the Ukrainian quipped, generating some laughter.
The conversation continues with the Ukranian man asking the soldiers if they know where they are going. One says, "to Kyiv," and asks, "What do they say on the news?"
The brave Ukrainian responds, "Well, while everything is on our side, yours and prisoners surrender well."

There are a lot of posts about Russian vehicles running out of fuel. I don't think they had the stockpiles needed as it doesn't seem the Ukrainian's have been hitting them. Looks like more and more the Russians expected to just walk into the capital of Ukraine and declare victory in a couple days.
[energyintel] After decades of ignoring Russia’s national security concerns, the West is confronted with a military invasion of Ukraine which serves as a precursor for a new Cold War that will define Russia’s relationship with the West for years to come.
Let there be no mistake, on Feb. 24, the world awoke to a new reality. Prior to this date, Russia was treated by the West as an annoyance, belittled by economic and even military elites as little more than a "giant gas station masquerading as a nation," to quote John McCain, the now-deceased senator from Arizona.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had been subjected to a series of sophomoric psychological profiles that trivialized Russian national concerns as little more than the psychotic whim of a troubled individual. The caricatures that emerged of the Russian state and its leadership colored the analysis of Russia’s oft-stated concerns over what it viewed as its legitimate national security.

"So They invaded Ukraine under Biden and Obama .. SOROS, and make money , launder , deny it. But it was getting worse with bio labs and perhaps weapons , more oppression under Soros nazis .. just like Syria Putin w/Trump cleaned ISIS up ... but when weak deep stare Joe is president the globe is very unstable .. Putin perhaps trying to clean their shit up again ...a lot ox US tax money gets lost over there for bad things . I had this global western mafia . I hope they all get tried for treason . It’s actually completely global now . God help us all."

Putin's concern with corruption in the Ukraine was he wasn't getting the biggest cut. He's never been interested in "cleaning up" anything except opposition to his rule.

[Bus Insider] The world's largest cargo aircraft, the An-225 Mriya, has been destroyed during a Russian attack, according to Ukraine's minister of foreign affairs, Dmytro Kuleba.
Kuleba tweeted on Sunday: "Russia may have destroyed our 'Mriya'. But they will never be able to destroy our dream of a strong, free and democratic European state."
"We shall prevail!" he added.
The plane was based at the Antonov Airport — also known as Hostomel Airport — according to Scottish publication The Herald. The paper reported Thursday that the airfield was struck by missiles prior to the attack.
On the same day, Aviation24.be published a report saying a source had confirmed the aircraft was in Georgia.
Insider was not able to independently verify the publication's claims.
Illia Ponomarenko, a defense reporter for the Kyiv Independent, said on Sunday that the aircraft was ruined "amid a Russian attack."

UXO detail. Yes, Please try not to be late for the PT formation again tomorrow.
Ukrainian service members look for and collect unexploded shells after fighting with a Russian raiding group in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on the morning of Feb. 26, 2022, according to Ukrainian service personnel at the scene.

Haha, yeah.
I still remember back when Pope Airfield was gravel we would get 'invited' to paint the border rocks yellow, by hand. Pick up your brush, pick up your bucket, move to the rock, paint, move on.

"But there are doubts about the lasting impact on Russia's economy. Russian banks might route payments via countries that have not imposed sanctions, such as China, which has its own payments system." This has been spoken of several years ago. This will hurt countries needing energy. Russia has alternative means.

Nice job guys
Cheering on the heroes of Kiev will end with the dollar being replaced by crypto and half a dozen other currencies
China's already standing by and ready to replace SWIFT
Wow talk about unintended consequences
#5
Say, how is your Ruble doing? Soon it will be less than 100:1 vs the dollar. Won't be long until Putin, assuming he survives this, will chop another 3 zeroes from the Ruble.
#6
So now you're going to kill ordinary Russian people? How are they your enemy?
China and Japan will step in now and replace America for most of world's trade finance
So you're going to wipe out American banks and American savers too
You really are a sick bastard
#8
Ordinary Russians didn't invade anyone
All the Russian people ever wanted was to be left alone by NATO instead of having a nuclear-armed superpower enemy on their doorstep
Same thing you wanted in 1962 - no hostile power with nuclear missiles on your border.
So you think it would be fine if Chinese tanks missiles bombers were placed 300 miles from your capital?
Ordinary people get crushed while sick assholes play out their sick fantasies of domination
Go to Kiev, Rambo

How stupid are Russians? Ukraine wasn't getting into NATO. They couldn't even get into the European Union. Your very stupid invasion has changed all that. By next year, Ukraine will have both and nuclear weapons, which the Ukrainians will build for themselves.
BTW, Rambo is already in Kiev and Kharkiv and Odessa and your army is running out of fuel.
#10
Ordinary Russians reelected Vladimir Putin — however rough edged, Russia is now a democracy. So ordinary Russians own what he does in their name, including invading the Ukraine and his threat today to use Russian nukes.
If ordinary Russians don’t like the outcome of their actions, let them throw the bum out.
#11
Maybe they will, but not tomorrow or anytime soon - meanwhile, punishing the ordinary Russians only makes them hate America and look for other allies. Now the Chinese people are very pro-Russian. Even if the Russians turn against Putin, they will never ever trust America.
Biden is just shooting himself and you in the foot - he's telling the world it cannot trust America and needs a new order that makes America one power among many
#12
Like a baby, you throw a temper tantrum when the adults say you can't invade your neighbor. We don't want Russia around sniffing Ukraine's, Poland's or Lithuania's or American panties. Just go away, to your Chinese protector, if you want. But be warned, Chinese dowries are very expensive and involve land.
#13
Ordinary people with common sense don't care about your sick fantasies, keyboard warrior.
No one can trust the US anymore. The reason everyone agreed to let the US dominate the world was because it brought peace, stability and prosperity.
Now the American-led world order is in ruins. American credibility is for shit. The US let Ukraine hang out to dry.
Ukraine's grannies have more courage than millions of western Twitter warriors. Ukraine's little president has more courage in his little finger than all the chicken hawks in Washington.
Trash Russians all you want, but you're only hurting yourselves now.
Now the Chinese people are solidly behind Russia
Congratulations.
#14
Look in a mirror dumbass. People are buying dollars because they know it safe, strong and convertible. People come the America by the millions. Too many to even chase away. Can we lose the name calling please ?
Nobody wants Russian currency. Nobody wants Russian citizenship or government. No wants Russians, period.
P.S. If the Russian government is paying you for this, they are paying too much.
#16
Dude, they want yen and crypto and whatever centralized digital currency the Chinese decide on
Now we're going to have hyperinflation
Oil at $150 a barrel, gold silver palladium, platinum will skyrocket
Shipping costs will skyrocket
Stuff will get made locally
Semiconductor chips will be made locally in Russia and China and India and any nation with lots of engineers
Everyone will ditch American technology companies
America's failure means the world's political and economic order will go back 100 years in time
#17
No one can trust the US anymore. The reason everyone agreed to let the US dominate the world was because it brought peace, stability and prosperity.
To let the U.S. dominate? Do you claim that the nations of the world were incompetent to manage their own affairs without Papa America threatening to spank them if they misbehave? Are we therefore to conclude that with a weak Joe Biden in the White House, Russia is demonstrating that same incompetence? The same Russia that turned off the gas in winter when they were playing dominance games with Georgia a few years ago, and now holds the same threat over Germany? Why would anyone trust Russia?
As for China, they despise all round-eyes equally, no matter what sweet nothings they currently whisper in Russia’s ear. Remember that it is the Chinese who have been quietly colonizing Siberia, and locking in small Asian and African countries with loans they cannot afford to repay, exactly like the rapacious capitalists you were warned about as a child. So nobody should trust China.
Sadly, however crazy America is getting domestically at the moment, in part because the Bidens, et al have taken huge payoffs from Russia and the Ukraine as well as China, the world continues to offer no better alternative.

/\ Can we arrange an Atlanta area meet? I'm offering $ .20 cents on your dollar. No large bills please.
I could raid Mr. Wife’s travel stash left over from when he had worldwide responsibilities, including R&D and factories in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nova Moscow, and Vladivostok. The yen went to trailing daughter #2 when she was doing her senior year internship in Tokyo, so can’t help there.
As Mr. Wife points out, Putin is being stupid because he wants to reestablish the USSR. Unfortunately, an empire established/reestablished by force results in a subject populace that alternates between revolts that have to be put down with force and destruction, and a sullen quiet when they refuse to become productive. Either way, you end up with a country that looks little different from Syria as it is now. Instead, President Putin should concentrate on making Russia so attractive that the former borderlands are willing to jump through hoops to rejoin, as they have been doing as they try to join America’s NATO.
#24
"OOh, look, if Biden tries X, it'll hurt the US..."
Blah blah blah.
If it hadn't been for Biden and company spending 30 years kneecapping American industry in general and the energy industry in particular, Putin wouldn't be able to do this stuff to begin with.
Three weeks ago Putin was talking about the need to limit bitcoin and then pretended to change his mind. I suspect they do that shit because they want to buy the dips.
#25
Also, a thought for the day: The American dominance of the financial industry and the tech industry hasn't done any good for the last thirty years for those of us who made physical objects for a living. I've forgotten who said this first, but... we've gotten confused and think currency (dollars, digital currencies, what have you) is wealth. It isn't. _Production capacity_ is wealth. Currency's just a way of deciding how the production gets moved around.

Whoever comes after Pooter in Russia will be pro-Chinese and anti-American. The rest of the world will also see America is useless at maintaining order and stability and that nations are on their own when it comes to providing for their security - like the Israelis, no one will depend on America
"Ukraine war again reminds Israelis: We can only rely on ourselves"
#29
Whoever comes after Pooter in Russia will be pro-Chinese and anti-American.
If whoever comes after is not first pro-Russia, the rest won’t matter. And given that Putin was anti-America all his life... But being pro-China is a sucker bet — those who hate Russia should wish them to be pro-China.
Israel is already pretty self-reliant, and even under more anti-Israel presidents, like Barack Obama and Joe Biden, finds America more congenial than other power centers.
#30
Russia has already replaced most of the goods it used to import with domestically produced substitutes that are more than adequate.
This turn inward will only accelerate their self-reliance, especially in high tech manufacturing. Never again will any advanced military of any powerful nation allow itself to be dependent on Amerrica for advanced dual-use technology
America will become more self-reliant too. The global dollar-based system will start to unravel and every nation will start relying on itself and China, instead of on the US
#31
You Russian should read carefully what trailing wife is trying to tell you.
Truthfully, I think some of us here at Rantburg are somewhat sympathetic to Russia and feel that we should be allies in the war on terror and that we should be cooperating to contain China.
Myself, I could understand Putin's paranoia about NATO in Ukraine. No, I do not want Chinese troops in Mexico. And yes, certain American politicians are less than trustworthy.
But right now your guy Putin is not looking all that trustworthy either. His war in Ukraine doesn't seem at the moment to be going very well. The approach is looking heavy handed and clumsy. In time you will most likely prevail but the world is watching and the loss of life will be held against you. The blood is on your hands. There had to be a better way.
In America, when our presidents get involved in unpopular wars, people take to the streets and protest. Our presidents know that if they don't have popular sentiment behind them they could lose their jobs. It might be time for Russians to take to the streets. It might be time for new leadership in Moscow.
Ask yourself, in all the years since the Berlin Wall fell, have we ever attacked you? In fact, have we ever attacked you? Why would we? Nobody in their right mind wants that kind of a war.

Yes there was a better way
America had chance after chance after chance after chance to bring Russia into the European security structure. During GHerbert Walker Bush's time - but no.
During Clinton's presidency - but no, you bombed the shit out of Serbia instead and sided with a Muslim terrorist organization in Kosovo. Then you expanded NATO to our northwestern border. All while your bankstera helped bandits loot and destroy our country.
During Bush II's presidency Putin even helped you with airspace rights to fight in Afghanistan! That's more than Germany allowed just now. Extreme generosity, to help against Islamic jihadists. You could have had an alliance then. You could have returned the favor to Russia, as any decent and honorable nation would have. But no - you slapped Russia with the back of your hand and helped another group of bandits gain power on Russia's southern border in Ukraine.
And then you kicked and spat on Russia with another NATO expansion -- and then you pissed on Russia for good measure with your Bucharest declaration offering still further expansion to Ukraine and Georgia.
And all this time and during Obama's time you ignored Russia. You pretended it was no big deal to not only shit on Russia and ignore her legitimate security concerns, you had to keep pushing your military alliance right up to Russia's front door.
No self-respecting nation on this earth would tolerate such behavior.
Putin was stupid to invade but America bears the ultimate blame. American arrogance and blundering brought this on the world.
#34

The same Obama Administration that paid Russia via Iran _after_ they took the Donbass and Crimea in 2014?
The funny thing is, you prove the point we've all been tryng to say about appeasement over recent history.
These idiot administrations, for the most part, worked to appease and empower Russia for the last twenty years and here we are, Russia is invading Ukraine and the trolls are all here saying "You're being mean to us! Look at what you're making us do!"

Like I said, I am sympathetic to your fear of NATO. Also, like I said, some of our politicians are blundering fools. John McCain was an asshole. Bush and Obama were bad and Joe Biden is a feeble old retard. We'll get rid of him just like we did the others. Can you get rid of Vlad?
I remember being sympathetic to Serbia and I was aghast when Clinton sent our troops to Kosovo. Well, he was busy with Monica and probably didn't think it through. Like Ukraine, that was none of our business. But the longer this bloody mess continues in Ukraine, the less sympathy you will get.
You must also consider that Poles, Hungarians, Latvians, Estonians and Lithuanians were eager to join NATO because their experience in the Warsaw Pact was so awful. It's not like we held a gun to their heads. Face it, communism sucks and America is still the best alternative to it. If I didn't think so I'd move to Russia. Don't hold your breath for that.
Fix your own economy, make Russia more livable, tell Vladimir to back away from his nukes and try not to kill too many civilians. Then you will be in a better position to tell us about our shortcomings.

Keyboard warriors strut and snarl and put out memes and link to satire. Putin has ordered Russia's nuclear forces to go on alert. There is serious risk now of a miscalculation that would set off a nuclear war.
Now it's threatening the US and your cretin president whose blunders and foolishness led us to this moment is nowhere to be found. If you had a real democracy you wouldn't tolerate this state of affairs - and you have the gall to lecture the world about democracy

Where is your cretin of a president hiding?
Like this forum would know... Keyboard warriors strut and snarl and put out memes and link to satire. Putin has ordered Russia's nuclear forces to go on alert. There is serious risk now of a miscalculation that would set off a nuclear war.
It is important, apparently, to state the incredibly obvious. Now it's threatening the US and your cretin president whose blunders and foolishness led us to this moment is nowhere to be found. If you had a real democracy you wouldn't tolerate this state of affairs - and you have the gall to lecture the world about democracy
So Putin was influenced by Joe Biden to invade Ukraine. I lecture the world abut the size scope and power of government, about which both the US and USSR -- I mean Russia -- are exemplary.

I find it amusing when people speak of Joe Biden as if he is in charge of anything other than his own bladder. Yes, the President is nominally the leader of the country, but if that is your read, I am afraid your grasp of the situation lacks opposable thumbs.

Dead could happen by Tuesday in theory, but not likely. Moderately senile, though, that he’s been pretty much since he started campaigning for the job in early 2020. One assumes that President Putin, who is reasonably astute, has noticed this. One wonders why that isn’t the lead-in for all Russian news reports and op-eds on the subject of America at the moment.
#49
What is your "democracy" worth?
Do you really have free and fair elections?
Is your press honest and independent?
Do your oligarchs compete fairly in a free market?
Can white people expect fair treatment under rule of law?
Can you trust your medical authorities?
Are your children's schoolteachers competent? Do they teach your children how to reason, do they give them an appreciation for your history and your culture and your values as a nation?
If no, why the hell do you think you have a right to lecture anyone about democracy?

"So Putin was influenced by Joe Biden to invade Ukraine. "
Yes he was, 'Boris '(nice nickname -- so your knowledge of Russia comes from stupid American cartoons from the 1960s.. love it)
Putin saw that Biden was a total cretin, a blithering dotard, more interested in transsexual freaks and their "rights" than in collective security or spheres of power.
He invaded because this was the best opportunity out he'd had in five years. Your cretin of a president cl tributes to this tragedy. Man up for once and admit reality

Who's going to give that speech to the nation Tuesday?
If the Big Guy is unavailable for the State of the Union speech, the President will be brought to you courtesy of Disney Studio Animatronics(tm). Jerky, inappropriate gestures and rambling incoherent speech will be signs of Actual Biden. If he suddenly freezes and bursts into flames, that's Robo-Joe.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Emergency laws to tackle dirty Russian money will be brought in this week.
On Tuesday, Home Secretary will introduce legislation to Parliament to overhaul Unexplained Wealth Orders, which can be used to tackle so-called 'McMafia' criminal operations.
The proposals are designed to help law enforcement agencies take more effective action against oligarchs, compelling them to prove the origins of their funds in the UK.
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — In a dramatic escalation of East-West tensions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian nuclear forces put on high alert Sunday in response to what he called "aggressive statements" by leading NATO powers.
The order means Putin wants Russia’s nuclear weapons prepared for increased readiness to launch and raises the threat that Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and the West’s response to it could boil over into nuclear warfare.
Amid the worrying development, the office of Ukraine’s president said a delegation would meet with Russian officials as Moscow’s troops drew closer to Kyiv.
Putin, in giving the nuclear alert directive, cited not only the alleged statements by NATO members but the hard-hitting financial sanctions imposed by the West against Russia, including the Russian leader himself.
Speaking at a meeting with his top officials, Putin told his defense minister and the chief of the military’s General Staff to put the nuclear deterrent forces in a "special regime of combat duty."
"Western countries aren’t only taking unfriendly actions against our country in the economic sphere, but top officials from leading NATO members made aggressive statements regarding our country," Putin said in televised comments. Ooooooooh! Aggressive statements, even!
Heh. (no disrespect to the senile geezer pretending to be President)
Nuclear weapons are a deterrent. I read this as Putin saying "Don't none of you Western bitches be even thinking about getting involved in this dog fight".

[NYP] In the late 1960s, Enrique "Ric" Prado was a brawler who ran with local street gang the Miami Crowns. But the Cuban refugee also dearly loved his adopted home of the United States — so when anti-war protestors started burning American flags at Miami-Dade Junior College, Prado recruited his crew to fight the demonstrators.
After the Crowns stormed the campus and physically attacked them, the hippies scattered, the ground littered with broken protest signs and bead necklaces. The campus newspaper ran a piece about Cubans defending the American flag, which made Prado proud.
"That was a watershed moment," Prado writes in his memoir, "Black Ops: The Life of a CIA Shadow Warrior" (St. Martin’s Press), out now. "Defending our country from people who wanted to tear it down? That stirred something in me."
Fidel Castro’s communist revolution had chased Prado’s family from Cuba in 1962. They had once led a comfortable, middle-class life in their home country, but when Castro took power, the communists seized the coffee shop his father owned, as well as his grandfather’s gas station and cigar-rolling store. As the country became dangerous — Prado survived his first firefight at 7 — they decided to flee.

Nato doesn't seem to want to get involved militarily, well lets just do the one thing that their charter demands they go to war over.
Seems unlikely to me. Putin seems too be having logistics problems, escalating the war doesn't seem the right solution. I expect Putin to call a cease fire once he's achieved some sought after objective and then use the pause to bring equipment into the theater for when the talks break down.
[Washington Examiner] Ukraine sent out a global call to arms seeking foreigners who would help the country fend off an invasion by Russia.
On the fourth day of the assault, with Russian military forces attacking the capital of Kyiv and other locations all across Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky's administration announced the formation of the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine.
"Foreigners willing to defend Ukraine and world order as part of the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine, I invite you to contact foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine in your respective countries. [Free Beacon] Ukraine on Friday said radiation at the abandoned Chernobyl nuclear power plant has "exceeded" normal levels, the day after Russia invaded the nation and seized the plant, according to the Washington Post.
"The control levels of gamma radiation dose rate in the Exclusion zone were exceeded," a statement by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine read, attributing the change to "disturbance of the top layer of soil from movement of a large number of radio heavy military machinery through the Exclusion zone and increase of air pollution." The Russian military has disputed the Ukrainian government's statement.
President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Thursday, sending thousands of troops, tanks, and planes across the border in the early hours of the morning. Russian defense officials confirmed on Friday their troops had taken Chernobyl.
The announcement prompted outrage from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
[Breitbart] KTNV reports that police began receiving calls about the shooting at approximately 3:15 a.m.

Re #2: Tucker's stance is hypocritical. He has belittled Ukraine and the Russian threat to it. Now that the war has begun, instead of admitting he was wrong, he makes it a tool to bash Biden.
BTW, Tucker still hasn't got it was the Russian side that was bribing Hunter. From there, his other analysis is wrong as well as superficial.
#5
How were the Russians bribing Hunter? Hunter was on the board of Burisma, a Ukraininan company. The Ukrainians were going after the corruption when the big-guy had the prosecutor fired.
Perhaps the Russians were also bribing Hunter but that doesn't mean Ukraine wasn't knee deep in it as well.

This is the end of American dominance - an unreliable ally and a fake hegemon that's totally incapable of preventing chaos and preserving order in the world.
Nations will rely on themselves from now on
No one will look to America to keep the peace or guarantee stability
Now there will be a rush to get nukes
Nations will find alternatives to the dollar and SWIFT (yen, crypto)

Pres. Yanukovitch was a Russian installed puppet. The Russians stole the election for him in both 2004 and 2010. The 2004 election drew massive protests and got overturned (the first Maidan revolution). In 2010, Yanukovitch proceeded to turn Ukraine into a corruption syndicate to weaken the country for Russian domination. It was under his rule that that Burisma was illegally consolidated under his energy minister. They were all working for the Russians and getting paid, in Burisma's case, with very favorably priced gas and oil. Some of that Russian money was used to pay Hunter. The Big Guy stepped in to prevent Burisma from being prosecuted after the second Maidan revolution in 2014.
BTW, the 2014 revolution began when Yanukovitch reneged on a popular association deal with the EU.

Re #6: Have you looked at the currency exchange rates. Since the Russian invasion, the dollar has increased against other currencies.
The Ruble has fallen. Severely. It is costing the Russian government billion of dollars each day to prop up the Ruble in currency exchanges so it does not fall even more. Soon the dollars will run out and the Ruble fill fall much further. I believe to less than one penny for a Ruble.

The new currencies that replace the US fiat currency will be tied to critical commodities like oil and strategic metals - when the oil price soars the dollar crashes. Oil will hit $150 soon
Most of the countries that have tons of those metals and that oil won't rely on the US any more

I have watched all of Tucker’s statements about the Russia/Ukraine situation. His main points have been;
1. Why are we so fixated on the territorial boundaries of Ukraine when we let 2 million plus people a year invade our country? There are hundreds, if not thousands of years, of border disputes and changes in that area.
2. We are not protecting a “democracy” in the sense we see it. Ukraine jailed the opposition leader (last May) and ended freedom of the press prior to this conflict breaking out. Are the citizens of Ukraine that desire stronger ties with Russia not allowed a voice? Is that Democracy?
3. Biden’s disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan and other displays of weakness, which have been discussed on this site ad nauseam, have contributed to this mess.
4. How about we focus a bit on the American people for once. Over 100,000, mostly young, Americans died from Fentanyl and other drugs streaming across our border last year. And will again this year, so Democrats can import the votes they need. A callous and evil operation.
Tucker doesn’t praise or support Putin. I think he sees him for what he is. He also sees Unkraine for what it is. And spends a great deal of time focusing on China, because of our dependence on that hostile regime.

[Tom's Hardware h/t Pixy] In a sign that the United States government's export restrictions on semiconductor sales to Russia due to its war against Ukraine have been enacted swiftly, multiple reports have emerged today that both Intel and AMD have suspended chip sales to Russia. In addition, reports have also emerged that TSMC's decision to participate in the sanctions will thwart Russia's supply of homegrown chips. We have reached out to Intel, AMD, and Nvidia for comment.
The Russian media outlets also claim that the suspensions have been confirmed by the Association of Russian Developers and Electronics Manufacturers (ARPE). Additionally, Chinese IT companies are said to have been notified by Intel that sales to Russia have been banned.
The extent of the halted sales is currently unclear. The new export restrictions are primarily aimed at chips for military purposes or dual-use chips that could be used for both civilian and military purposes. That means sales of most consumer-focused chips, like AMD's Ryzen and Intel's Core chips, likely won't be impacted. However, it is widely expected that there will be a temporary halt for all semiconductor sales to Russia as companies work to decide which products are impacted. Additionally, the US DoC has added 49 Russian companies to the Entity List, and those companies aren't eligible to purchase any type of chip.
The new US export restrictions are akin to the sanctions leveled at Huawei, but they apply to an entire country — a first. Russia has prepared for years to deal with potential sanctions, especially in the wake of the international sanctions in 2014 after its actions in Crimea, by both promoting its own indigenous semiconductor production and also stockpiling chips for just such an occurrence.
However, Russia's domestically-designed chips from companies like Baikal, MCST, Yadro, and STC Module are actually manufactured by Taiwan-based TSMC, which has agreed to also suspend sales to the country to comply with the new export restrictions. That means Russia's supply of homegrown chips is also cut off.

Russia’s richest lost billions in Ukraine invasion
Russian billionaires lost a combined $39 billion in on-paper net worth after the country’s stock market cratered in response to the invasion. Moscow’s benchmark MOEX Russia Index closed 33% lower on Thursday — marking one of the worst single-day market crashes in the country’s history.
Vagit Alekperov, the billionaire oligarch and chairman of Russian energy giant Lukoil, was hit hardest. He lost nearly a third of his on-paper fortune when his net worth declined more than $6 billion during Russia’s economic turmoil, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Vladimir Potanin, Russia’s richest individual and a close associate of Putin, lost an estimated $3 billion during the rout. Alexey Mordashov, chairman of the Russian steel firm Severstal, lost more than $4 billion.
Gennady Timchenko, who was targeted with individual sanctions during recent US and European economic actions against Russia, lost $3.7 billion.

March 6, 2020 As worldwide Covid-19 cases topped 100,000 and deaths exceeded 3,000, Musk tweeted, “the coronavirus panic is dumb.”
March 19, 2020 The United States reported just under 2,000 new coronavirus cases in a single day, but Musk predicted the country was headed toward “zero new cases” by the end of April (by Musk’s deadline, daily case counts had topped 20,000).
March 19, 2020 Musk insisted “kids are essentially immune” to the coronavirus, despite research that children can contract the virus and get sick from it.
May 9, 2020 After local rules in Alameda County, Calif., forced Tesla to shut down its assembly line, Musk vowed to sue the county (Tesla filed a federal lawsuit that day, but the company voluntarily dropped the suit less than two weeks later).
May 11, 2020 Musk said Tesla’s assembly line in the Bay Area would reopen immediately, violating local public health rules and surprising California Gov. Gavin Newsom: “If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me,” Musk tweeted.
Sept. 28, 2020 Musk told the New York Times’ Kara Swisher he won’t take a Covid-19 vaccine once it’s available, arguing he and his kids are not at risk, and he asserted the virus (which has killed more than 2.6 million people worldwide) has a low mortality rate.
March 12, 2021 Musk appeared to question whether it’s safe to get the second shot of a coronavirus vaccine, citing “quite a few negative reactions.”
[NYPost] Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), one of the most prominent conservative members of Congress, announced Friday that he would retire from politics effective Jan. 3 of next year.
"It is bittersweet, but with a clear heart, that Kay and I announce that at the end of the year, I will retire from the United States Senate," Inhofe, 87, said in a statement shared on social media.
"Going into public service was never in my plan. For years Kay and I were focused on our family and building our business together. Then, one day, I needed a dock permit. I had to visit 27 government offices to get a single dock permit, and realized if we wanted the government to work for the people, not against the people, it was up to us to make a change," he continued.
"Still, when our journey of service to Oklahoma started with my first political campaign in 1967, we never expected that the road the Lord would lead us down would take us from the Oklahoma legislature, to being Mayor of Tulsa, to the House of Representatives, and, finally, the United States Senate where I was privileged to lead the committees that best serve Oklahomans."
Inhofe is the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee and is the former chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. He was up for re-election in 2026.
Under Oklahoma law, a special election will take place this fall to fill Inhofe’s seat, which is likely to remain in Republican hands.
Among those expected to consider entering the race are GOP Reps. Kevin Hern and Markwayne Mullin; former speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives T.W. Shannon, who ran for US Senate in 2014; and Tulsa attorney Gentner Drummond, who is currently running for attorney general.
In his interview with The Oklahoman newspaper, Inhofe endorsed his chief of staff, Luke Holland, to replace him.
"I didn’t make a solid decision until two or three weeks ago," Inhofe told the outlet. "There has to be one day where you say, ’All right, this is going to be it.’"
Inhofe is the sixth Senate Republican to announce his retirement ahead of this year’s midterm elections, joining Richard Burr of North Carolina, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Rob Portman of Ohio, Richard Shelby of Alabama and Roy Blunt ...A Missouri political oligarch. As a member of Congress he was reelected six times without significant opposition. He married Roseann Ray in May 1967 and had three children with her: Matt (the former Governor of Missouri), Amy Blunt Mosby and Andrew Blunt, both lawyers and lobbyists. Blunt and Ray divorced after 35 years of marriage. Afterward, he married Abigail Perlman, a lobbyist for Kraft Foods. In April 2006, he and his wife adopted an 18-month old boy from Russia, whom they renamed Alexander Charles Charlie Blunt. Ontario Police Investigate Officers Who Allegedly Donated to Freedom Convoy
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced on Wednesday that it has started an internal investigation over allegations that some OPP officers may have donated to the fundraiser for the anti-Wuhan coronavirus restriction Freedom Convoy protests.
[Breitbart] Online encyclopedia-turned information giant Wikipedia banned seven of its editors over their sympathy for a French presidential hopeful.
Seven Wikipedia editors, including one of the site’s biggest French-language contributors, have been completely banned from the online encyclopedia over their pro-Zemmour stance.
The seven editors were "banished" by the site on Wednesday after it emerged that they tried to edit the page of the firebrand ...firebrands are noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments... presidential candidate.
According to a report by Le Gay Pareeien, the editors were "banished" after they tried to change move a reference to Eric Zemmour’s classification as "far-right" further down the candidate’s online page, along with a host of other changes.
Banishment is a particularly rare and harsh penalty used by the site, being different from a regular ban in that it cannot be circumvented by a user opening up a new account.
Among those banned was an editor operating under the online handle "Cheep", who was at the time reportedly the 64th largest contributor to French Wikipedia.
Within the report, the publication notes the fact that political activists frequently try and change Wikipedia pages in relation to their preferred candidates.
"People don’t understand how Wikipedia works, which is a participatory encyclopedia," said Samuel Lafont, who serves as Eric Zemmour’s digital strategy manager, noting that the campaign is active everywhere on the internet.
Wikipedia’s banning of pro-Zemmour activists is possible the latest example of the online encyclopedia’s political bias, which has come under ever-increasing scrutiny in recent years.
Multiple studies into the online platform have found significant left-leaning bias, with right-leaning editors being six times more likely to face sanctions from the site.
One particularly notable example of bias on the site came in the form of the scheduled deletion of the entry for "mass killings under Communist regimes" over its "anti-Communist" bias.
While as of writing the page remain active, it is now noted to be undergoing "expansion" and/or a "major restructuring", and that the neutrality of the article is "disputed".
The site also falsely described allegations of Hunter Biden ...son of President Joe: cashiered from the Navy, a crackhead, wheeler dealer, leg humper, horn dog, and general all around ne'er do well. We're supposed to feel sorry for him... having corrupt political dealings as "debunked conspiracy theories", heavily censoring the page of the now-first family member in the run-up to the 2020 US Presidential Election.
At the time, no reference to the bombshell reporting by the New York Post, which appeared to support such claims of corruption, could be found on Hunter Biden’s wiki page.
Site co-founder Larry Sanger has said that he is now embarrassed by the platform, saying that its previous commitment to political neutrality is now "long gone".
"Wikipedia’s ideological and religious bias is real and troubling, particularly in a resource that continues to be treated by many as an unbiased reference work," Sanger is reported as having said, also claiming that "the deck is too stacked on Wikipedia for it to ever be salvaged".

[tomluongo.me] Up until February 23rd, 2022, the powerful countries of the world played a very rarified game.
Too many people try to analyze geopolitics like it is a game of chess. Move, counter-move. Push a pawn? Threaten a knight, that type of thing. It’s easy to understand and makes for good copy.
In the past I’ve tried to liken it to a multi-player version of Go, with anywhere from four to 6 different colored stones on the board trying to take territory. It was a better metaphor but nearly impossible to describe adequately. In fact, at times, it was exhausting.

Looking at reports of Russia having insufficient military supplies already has me wondering. I'm starting to think Putin looked around at Russia's economy (size of Florida) and his military stockpile (always aging and never as great as promote) and Russia's slowly diminishing influence in the world, realized that Russia will have zero influence after four more years of Trump.
Because of that he decided to gamble that the Ukrainians would fold quick and he'd have their food and resources to extend Russia a bit longer. If he did it now the West wouldn't do all that much and they'd be ready to patch things up sometime during Trump's return.
Except the Ukrainians fought tooth and nail against the invasion, and they got lucky in a few places.

[IsraelTimes] Assertion by Tehran’s nuclear chief contradicts reported draft terms of accord being negotiated in Vienna, which are said to restrict enrichment to 5%
Iran ...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both... will continue to enrich uranium to 20% even if the 2015 nuclear deal is revived and sanctions are lifted, its nuclear chief said Friday, according to Iranian news reports.
"(Uranium) enrichment... continues [at present] with a maximum ceiling of 60%, which led Westerners to rush to negotiations, and it will continue with the lifting of sanctions by both 20% and 5%," Mohammad Eslami, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, was quoted saying.
The 2015 JCPOA limits enrichment to 3.67%, but since the US withdrew from the accord in 2018, Iran has been openly breaching its terms, stockpiling mounting quantities of 60%-enriched uranium. It has said it is capable of enriching to 90% — weapons-grade. Before the deal took effect, it was enriching to 20%.
Eslami’s comments were surprising since, according to diplomats quoted by Rooters 10 days ago, the draft outline of the revived deal includes a series of steps for all parties to take following its final approval, starting with Iran suspending enrichment of uranium above 5%.
The first phase would also reportedly include the unfreezing of some $7 billion in Iranian funds stuck in South Korean banks under US sanctions, as well as the release of Western prisoners held in Iran.
Eventually, Iran would return to core nuclear limits like the 3.67% cap on enrichment purity, the diplomats said, and sanctions would begin to be waived.
Eslami also warned Friday that Iran can resume production of highly enriched uranium "at any moment" if a deal was agreed but the US again pulled out of it.
Eslami was speaking as talks in Vienna on bringing Washington back into the 2015 agreement reached a critical stage.
The 3.67% limit for uranium enrichment set in the 2015 deal was sufficient for Iran’s power generation needs although not for some other civilian uses, such as the production of medical isotopes.
After then-US president Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... abandoned the agreement and reimposed crippling sanctions, Iran responded by producing uranium enriched to 60%, a level that has sparked Western concern although it still falls short of weapons grade.
Iran credits its response with bringing US President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The guy who lost Afghanistan, aka Biden's Bungle... ’s administration back to the negotiating table for on-off talks that have now lasted 10 months.
"Enrichment can be done at any moment when [officials] decide or there is the will for it," Eslami said on his organization’s website.
"If they [the US] do not fulfill their obligations, we will return to the previous situation.
"Enrichment is in place in the country with a maximum ceiling of 60 percent and this brought the West to negotiations."
Jammu and Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... police on Saturday arrested two men in Lolab area of north Kashmir's Kupwara "planning to join turban ranks".
News agency KNO quoted a police front man as saying that the accused identified as Rashid Ahmad Peer, son of Abdul Ahad Peer of Tekipora, Lolab and Adil Hussain Shah, son of Ghulam Muhammad Shah of Shat Muqam, Lolab were apprehended by Kupwara Police along with 28 RR in a joint operation in Lolab.
"Both the individuals were indulged in anti-national activities and were planning to join turban ranks, in order to revive militancy in the area besides providing active support to turbans, " police said.
"Both the individuals came under observation of the security forces when they were found suspicious in their movement and pro-militancy activity on social media platform, " it added.

[REGNUM] British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that in the past the United Kingdom "kicked Tsar Nicholas I", and now it "can repeat it."
“The Scottish Guards kicked Tsar Nicholas I in 1853 in the Crimea. We can always do it again," PA quoted Ben Wallace as saying. Wallace didn't study history. While Russia did lose the 1856 War in Crimea, and was the encumbered by the subsequent Treaty of Paris, Tsar Nicholas, through negotiations, would up negating the treaty, a net win for Russia.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly "made the same mistake that Emperor Nicholas I once did , by going into confrontation with the West without allies."
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov , commented on Ben Wallace's statement as follows: “Not so long ago, the head of the British Foreign Office, while in Moscow, according to media reports, already demonstrated her wonderful knowledge of Russian geography.
Therefore, the public deepening into the history of Russia by the head of the British Ministry of Defense Ben Wallace is no longer surprising. Especially for the British military, it will be useful to know that today's statements by their Minister of War about the Crimean War are nothing more than mythology. For the glory of Her Majesty."
“The Balaklava battle of the Crimean War on October 25, 1854, did not go down in history at all thanks to the stubbornness of the Scottish 93rd regiment, about which Wallace spoke so drunkenly. The only feat of this unit was that it simply did not run away, like the rest, from the onslaught of the Russian cavalry. Suffered very bloody losses. But he didn’t win any victories either, ”continued Major General Igor Konashenkov.
“However, the legendary destruction on the same day by Russian artillerymen in just 20 minutes of an entire aristocratic English light cavalry brigade under the command of Lord Cardigan entered the history of the Battle of Balaklava much brighter. It was this "feat" of the British in the Crimean War that enriched all the languages of the world and military textbooks with the concept of "cannon fodder".
"We recommend that British military personnel study well not only the geography of Russia, but also its history. In order not to enrich our common military history with our lives for the sake of poorly educated British politicians, ”an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense concluded his comment.
Two Lashkar murderous Moslems and a civilian were killed in a shootout between murderous Moslems and security forces in Amshipora area of south Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. ’s Shopian district on Friday. Police said the civilian was killed "in murderous Moslem firing".
"Based on a specific input of police about the presence of (militants) in village Amshipora, Shopian, a joint operation was launch during the late night of 24/25-02-2022," IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said in a statement.
"After a cluster of houses were taken into cordon, following the drill civilians were evacuated to safety. Thereafter, house to house searches were started in the wee hours to locate the hiding murderous Moslems, " he said.
As per IGP Kashmir, the murderous Moslems "resorted to indiscriminate firing" in which one civilian namely Shakeel Ahmed Khan son of Abdul Rahim Khan resident of Amshipora was seriously maimed and while being evacuated for treatment succumbed to the injuries.
The fire by the murderous Moslems, the IGP said, was "retaliated effectively" in which both murderous Moslems were killed.
The slain have been identified as Muzamil Ahmad Mir son of Ab Hameed Mir resident of Chatripora, Shopian and Shariq Ayoob son of Mohd Ayoob Wagay resident of Bonpora, Amshipora, Shopian.
Muzamil, police said, was involved in several militancy cases.
"Incriminating materials including Arms ( one AK 56 rifle and one pistol) and ammunitions were also recovered, police said.

North Korea fired what could be a ballistic missile, Japan's coast guard said on Sunday, in what would be the first test since the nuclear-armed country conducted a record number of launches in January
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff also reported that North Korea had fired at least one "unidentified projectile" eastward, without elaborating.
The launch came a month after North Korea fired a Hwasong-12 intermediate range ballistic missile, the largest weapon fired since 2017, in a test that capped a record month of mostly short-range missile launches in January.
Amid stalled denuclearisation talks with the United States, North Korea has suggested it could resume testing its longer range missiles or even nuclear weapons.

[AspenBeat] About those "sanctions"....
In short, war crimes are not excused by the fact that they’re in the context of a war, especially if the war was started by the war criminal.
Which brings us back to Putin. The Mossad knows how to handle people like him. In doing so they will save thousands of lives and will deter future aggressors. Send them in.
The Mossad is not going to go after President Putin, with whom Israel has come to a modus vivendi. Y’all are going to have to do your own assassinating.
[EpochTimes] A California woman who broadcast her trip through the U.S. Capitol on Facebook on Jan. 6, 2021, was sentenced to 45 days in jail and levied a $5,000 fine by U.S. District Senior Judge Reggie B. Walton, who lectured her for blaming Black Lives Matter and Antifa for some of the violence that day when that “obviously was not the case.”
Imelda Acosta, who was described in court documents by her social media name—Mariposa Castro—was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on one count of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol building, a misdemeanor. As part of a plea agreement, several other charges were dismissed.
Clips from her 47 minutes of Facebook broadcasts were played by prosecutor Jordan Konig at the sentencing hearing. Konig argued for a 60-day jail term. The government’s sentencing memo cited statements Acosta made on the live-stream, including “we’re coming” and “this is war.”
During one broadcast, Acosta said, “We’re breaking in! We are breaking in! We’re doing this. We’re breaking in, right? … We’re taking our house back. This is our Capitol. We’re taking it back. No more bull[expletive]!” according to prosecutors. Acosta entered the Capitol through a broken window, court documents said.
Judge Walton said jail time is a necessary punishment, to send a message to others who harbor a similar mindset.
Adam Johnson — who once boasted that a photo of his shenanigan “broke the Internet” — was sentenced to 75 days behind bars by a federal judge in Washington, DC, for one count of entering and remaining in a restricted building or ground.
Johnson pleaded guilty in November and will also have to complete 200 hours of community service as part of the sentence.
He was part of a pro-Donald Trump mob who roamed the Capitol building that day and encouraged his fellow rioters to break down an entrance onto the House floor by using a bust of George Washington, prosecutors said in a sentencing memorandum filed in his case.
Johnson turned himself in two days after the riot and cooperated with prosecutors after his arrest.
His lawyers wrote in a court filing before sentencing that he was being punished in part because of the viral photo that showed him with Pelosi’s lectern.
“Arguably, if he latched onto some other piece of government furniture for his photo opportunity, jail time would not even be a consideration,” they wrote.
Before Feb. 22, Derrick Vargo was the unnamed subject of a video in which a police officer appears to push him off a 20-foot-high ledge, plunging to what many assumed was a tragic death.
Nearly 14 months later, Vargo and his attorney announced a forthcoming civil suit against the U.S. Capitol Police for his serious injuries and mental trauma caused by the push and fall.
Vargo, 32, who works as a yacht builder in Tennessee, said he has no doubt the motorcycle officer who pushed him did it with the intention of hurting or killing him.
“He knows exactly where he was on that Capitol building. You know, he works there,” Vargo told The Epoch Times. “He’s not just a citizen. He works there. He knows how high up he is. He shoved me not with just one arm but two. That means he wanted me off of it. It was very intentional.”
The U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) didn’t respond to a request for the identity of the officer and whether the incident has been investigated.
Vargo’s case is the latest allegation of police brutality and misconduct during the protests at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. It brings the number of cases to at least seven, with victims, relatives, friends, and witnesses alleging police brutality or misconduct caused serious injuries and deaths.
“There is no justification under the sun for out-and-out police brutality, never mind police brutality that ends up in death or serious injury, as we have seen multiple occasions that day,” Joseph McBride, Vargo’s attorney, said. “Several people died through police negligence and/or police brutality and/or murder.”
McBride was referring to the killing of Ashli Babbitt by USCP Lt. Michael Byrd, the beating of Rosanne Boyland by Metropolitan Police Department officer Lila Morris, and the beating of Victoria White by an as-yet-unidentified DC Metro police commander who struck her more than 40 times with a steel baton and his fist.

Interesting that Antifa and BLM who actually attempted to kill police officers and burn government buildings get off scot free while people who were invited into the capital are held without bail and getting time.

I read that Putin really needs Belorus, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan (BURK) to recreate the power of the Soviet Union. He probably figured he had Belorus and Kazakhstan halfway conquered already as the leadership of both are in his pocket.
I suspect the leader of Kazakstan read the tea leaves when Putin invaded Russia and wanted no part of being a puppet state, even more so than he is.
On Saturday, a joint force launched military operations to specify the source of mortar shells that targeted the south of Saladin.
The Incident is the first security "violation" in years.

[DW] The insurgency in Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province is spreading to neighboring regions, according to a new study. This comes despite the intervention of SADC and Rwandan troops.
Mozambique's al-Shabaab militia, whose name comes from the Arabic for youth and which has no relation to Somalia's al-Shabaab terrorist group,
... actually, they hired members of Somalia’s Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab to train them in jihadi skills, explaining the local nickname. Since 2018 they’ve been known formally as Islamic State Central Africa Province-Mozambique (ISCAP), whence they moved in 2015 from the Congo, where they had called themselves Ansar al-Sunna (supporters of the tradition), more formally as Ahlu Sunnah Wa-Jamah (ASWJ, adepts of the prophetic tradition). Originally led by Abu Yasir Hassan of Tanzania (also known as Yaseer Hassan and Abu Qasim), who moved between Mocimboa da Praia and jihadis in the Congo until 2015, when he may or may not have died. Al Shabaab-Mozambique funds itself through heroin, contraband, ivory, raiding, and selling the local girls into slavery...
has been carrying out brutal attacks in the nation's most northern province, Cabo Delgado,

[HotAir] The Daily Mail has an exclusive story about a group of American military veterans who are helping evacuate Americans in Ukraine. A group of 23 American citizens spoke with the news outlet as they were being transported from Kyiv to Romania.
A group called Project Dynamo is helping Americans leave Ukraine as war with Russia breaks out across the country. The photo above is one of the U.S. embassy in Kyiv on January 24. The Biden administration, the guys that caused the debacle in Afghanistan ...the gang of subgeniuses trying to pass themselves off as the adults in charge of the series of calamities characteristic of the administration of a mentally challenged geriatric case... began calling for Americans to leave Ukraine, telling them to make their own arrangements to get out. The State Department made it clear that there would not be a coordinated effort coming from the administration for evacuation.
Does this story sound familiar? There is a deja vu vibe with this story. Project Dynamo answered the calls of American citizens, legal residents, and Afghan helpers desperate to get out of Afghanistan when the Biden administration ended its evacuation efforts in that country. Project Dynamo has experience in this kind of rescue operation. Bryan Stern, a 23-year Army and Navy veteran saved 2,000 people in Kabul last year with Project Dynamo, a group of volunteers.
The group of 23 American citizens are being transported by two vehicles from Kyiv to Romania, a minibus and a car. Stern arranged for their transportation. They began their journey shortly after 5:00 am as "missiles fell from the sky". It is a 300 mile trip. The are taking quieter and smaller roads in order to evade Russian troops, fighter jets and thousands of other evacuees clogging the streets in their own cars. If you are watching the situation on cable news coverage, you’ve probably seen cameras pointing to traffic caused by all of those who are able to leave Ukrainian cities in their cars. Not everyone has the means to do so, though.
The State Department estimates there are between 10,000 to 30,000 Americans in Ukraine. This is the first rescue of its kind that has been reported.

[Breitbart] The Home Office revealed that nine out of ten boat migrants colonists who land in the UK are male, confirming prior statements from Nigel Farage.
In a data dump — as Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... ’s millitary invaded Ukraine — the Priti Patel-led Home Office admitted on Thursday that men account for ninety per cent of all illegal boat migrants colonists who reached British beaches in 2021.
According to the official statistics, 28,526 illegals crossed the Channel last year in 1,034 small boats. In total, 36,792 people entered the country illegally in 2021.
While as recently as 2018, small boat crossings of the English Chanel represented a miniscule fraction of illegal immigration to the UK, it has since grown exponentially, and now represent the vast majority of illegal entries to the country.
Of those who reached Britannia by boat, the Home Office said that 90 per cent were male, with three quarters aged between 18 to 39. Just seven per cent were adult females, with three per cent having their sex left unrecorded per the latest data.
Despite featuring prominently in photographs published by the establishment media, children only accounted for 12 per cent of illegal boat arrivals.
Breaking down the boat migrants colonists by ethnicity, 30 per cent hailed from Iran, the largest group, with Iraqis (21%), Eritrea ...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age... ns (11%), and Syrians (9%) making up the next most common nationalities. The Home Office noted that previously Iranians made up the vast majority of illegal boat arrivals, accounting for 80 per cent and 66 per cent of landings in 2018 and 2019 respectively, however, as of 2020 the ethnicities have become more mixed.
Driven in large-part by the massive influx of illegal aliens crossing the English Channel, there were 48,540 asylum applications launched in 2021, a third higher than the peak seen during the European Migrant Crisis of 2016.
Though most of the 48,540 asylum claims were made by illegal boat migrants colonists, there were 8,000 made by those who snuck into the country in the back of lorries or by other means. The number of initial claims that were approved by the government reached the highest rate since 1990, with 14,734 being approved on their first try.
At the same time, just 2,830 people were deported in the year leading up to September 2021. The number of foreign criminals deported was 47 per cent lower than that of pre-pandemic levels.
The issue of illegal immigration to Britannia comprising almost entirely of young male migrants colonists has long been addressed by Brexit’s Nigel Farage.
"If they are really refugees and they are coming from countries that are so awful why are they deserting all the women and kiddies, none of this actually adds up," Farage questioned last year.
[Breitbart] The Russian invasion of Ukraine may cause further strain on the supply of semiconductor chips already cut short by the worldwide chip shortage according to reports. WHY?
Due to the increasing DISTRUST of the MS call home (HQ) built feature of the Windows OS's. A number of tech users have been loading and securing Debian Linux, along with TOR and compatible App's on them.

Regarding Paladium "The most extensive deposits have been found in the norite belt of the Bushveld Igneous Complex covering the Transvaal Basin in South Africa, the Stillwater Complex in Montana, United States; the Sudbury Basin and Thunder Bay District of Ontario, Canada, and the Norilsk Complex in Russia."
Ukraine didn't make the list and Russia is the last. I think Palladium supplies will be okay.
Neon on the other hand. Well that could get nasty as "Ninety per cent of neon production is in Russia and Ukraine."
Hopefully we can ramp that crap up before current supplies start to run low.
[GreaterKashmir]Anjuman Auqaf has expressed resentment against disallowing of congregational Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid here.
"Today is the 30th Jummah Mubarak and the last ten days of the holy month of Mehraj-Ul-Alam are going on. Still the authorities did not allow the Moslems of Kashmir to perform important duties like Friday prayers at the largest place of worship in Jammu & Kashmir — the historic central Jama Masjid Srinagar," Anjuman Auqaf said in a statement.
Could it be that the objection is to a large number of Muslims gathering to be whipped up during the Friday service sermon?

[IsraelTimes] The Ukrainian Embassy in Israel has begun actively recruiting people in Israel to fight against the Russian military as it faces a full-scale invasion.
"The Embassy has begun the formation of lists of volunteers who wish to participate in combat actions against the Russian aggressor," the embassy writes in a public Facebook post in Ukrainian.
Some half-million Israelis are estimated to have Ukrainian roots, with tens of thousands having come only in the past few years, following Russia’s 2014 invasion of Crimea.
In the Facebook post, the embassy asks those who wish to "participate in the protection of Ukraine from the Russian military aggression" to send an email with their personal information, including any "military specialty" they may have.
Earlier this week, before the Facebook post was published, the Ukrainian ambassador to Israel told The Times of Israel that his office had checked and ensured that it was legal for Israelis to volunteer for the Ukrainian military.

Germany and Netherlands sending thousands of weapons to Ukraine
[Fighter Jets World] Germany will send 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles to Ukraine, marking a complete reversal in Berlin’s restrictive arms export policy, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Saturday.
The weapons, which will come from the Bundeswehr’s own stocks, "will be delivered as quickly as possible to Ukraine," according to a government statement.
Germany has for months come under intense criticism for its response to Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine. The government said its "historical responsibilities" prevented it from shipping arms to conflict zones, and had previously blocked other NATO allies from transferring German-origin weapons to Ukraine
The Netherlands also announced it will send anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday.
The Dutch government will supply 50 Panzerfaust-3 anti-tank weapons and 400 rockets, the ministry said in a letter to parliament. The Netherlands is also jointly considering with Germany sending a Patriot air defence system to a NATO battle group in Slovakia, it said.

Russian forces from Crimea have changed their primary axes of advance from a presumed drive toward Odesa to focus on pushing north toward Zaporizhie and the southeastern bend of the Dnipro River and east along the Azov Sea coast toward Mariupol. These advances risk cutting off the large concentrations of Ukrainian forces still defending the former line of contact between unoccupied Ukraine and occupied Donbas. Ukrainian leaders may soon face the painful decision of ordering the withdrawal of those forces and the ceding of more of eastern Ukraine or allowing much of Ukraine’s uncommitted conventional combat power to be encircled and destroyed. There are no indications as yet of whether the Ukrainian government is considering this decision point.
Ukrainian resistance remains remarkably effective and Russian operations especially on the Kyiv axis have been poorly coordinated and executed, leading to significant Russian failures on that axis and at Kharkiv. Russian forces remain much larger and more capable than Ukraine’s conventional military, however, and Russian advances in southern Ukraine may threaten to unhinge the defense of Kyiv and northeastern Ukraine if they continue unchecked. Go read the rest.

All Russian units in Kharkiv eliminated.
Ukrainian military and home guard units have full control.

I wonder how Assad is feeling now about his purchase of Russia’s fabulous Mark IV sensor system (sorry, just woke up and blanking on the technical term), the one that’s not been catching Israeli bombers on their way in instead of on their way home...

Time; the slow grind will continue, Russia has been here before. Bright moments are temporary. Putin's resolve is beyond question. His lifetime of service to his country and leadership has been tested many times. He will stay the course. Those successful in military events will be promoted with increased effectiveness. The numbers game loss of this and that means nothing. The slow grind of force will grind down the opposition.

...except if you run out of supplies - oil, ammo, the like. Then its not much of a grind, as a sit and wait for production to catch up. These are not the Russian troops of '42-'45. They weren't in Afghanistan.

During a phone call with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed that the Ukrainian delegation would meet with the Russian delegation without preconditions on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, near the Pripyat River.

It seems to me that the Russian army is acting like an army that had no contingency plans in place.
"But suppose we don't take Kharkiv in the first 12 hours?"
"Ha! Good one, Volodya."

So the bear tried to modernize and become more efficient but we see that he is still a clumsy old bear. That doesn't mean he isn't dangerous and, as he gets more and more frustrated, will likely become even more dangerous. That will likely be most unfortunate for innocent civilians. Maybe he should pause for minute and reconsider.

Maybe the US president should act like one and lean on Zelensky, get him to agree to partition and no NATO membership for UA
In another time the US president would force other small nations to follow America's lead or submit to America's commands in matters of war and peace
Now the world sees a small nation led by a brave little man and brigades of grannies showing how impotent and cowardly and completely useless American leadership is

I don't think Putin planned to leave Ukraine unless a puppet government was installed. The big question now is which of his "allies" in the Kremlin feels like it's his turn in power...

Didn't notice the French pulled out of military NATO and had the American forces move to other countries. The Americans didn't invade France to keep them at heel.
Oh, and during the '73 in the ME, nearly all NATO countries refused American overflights of resupply to Israel.
[FoxNews] A U.S. Army tank brigade that was scheduled to wrap up its recent European deployment has had its tour extended because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to a report.
The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, from Fort Riley, Kansas, has been on what was scheduled to be a nine-month assignment divided between Poland, Latvia and Romania, according to Stars and Stripes.
But now the service members’ stay in Eastern Europe has been extended indefinitely, the report said.
"While we don’t have a timeline for that extension, it will only be for as long as they are needed," a statement from the Army’s Europe and Africa operation said, according to Stars and Stripes.
The extension came despite the fact that the brigade from Kansas was nearing the end of its European assignment and despite President Biden’s recent remarks that the U.S. military would not become directly involved in the Ukraine-Russia war, the report said.
The Pentagon has already moved about 5,000 U.S.-based troops to positions in Europe, with plans for 7,000 more to be sent overseas in the coming weeks, Stars and Stripes reported.
[Garowe] The United Nations ...boodling on the grand scale... [UN] has resumed the much-needed humanitarian assistance in the troubled Tigray region, weeks after it warned that several people face starvation due to blockades imposed by Addis Ababa and Afar regional authorities.
In January, Tigray rebels attacked several towns in the Afar region, accusing local authorities of blocking humanitarian trucks from accessing the Tigray region. The United Nations estimated that thousands of people were facing starvation.
Getachew Reda, the spokesperson of the Tigray Defense Forces [TDF] confirmed on Wednesday that the UN had resumed humanitarian activities in Tigray weeks after suspension following hostilities witnessed in Afar, a rejoin which partners closely with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
"We have just learned that the UN has decided-apparently with the cooperation of federal and regional authorities-to resume humanitarian operations in Tigray with the first convoy slated to hit the road anytime soon. This is a welcome, if long overdue development," he said.
TDF, he added, will work closely with the United Nations to ensure the humanitarian teams are protected from aggression in areas under her control. Further, he said, the rebels will ensure they do everything possible for the mission to succeed.
"Will do everything it can to ensure the safe and secure passage of humanitarian aid convoys and their personnel within its areas of control," he noted. "We are ready to extend any support we can in order for the UN operations to succeed and for the needy to have access to badly needed aid."
Earlier this week, State Department called for a ceasefire between TDF and Æthiopia National Defense Forces [ENDF], arguing that the offensive had triggered a humanitarian crisis in the region, which is fighting to secede from Æthiopia.
The U.S. Department of State said that it is gravely concerned by the reports of atrocities, including sexual violence, committed by both TDF fighters in the Amhara region of Æthiopia in late and ENDF August and early September 2021, as described in a recent Amnesia Amnesty International report.
[Breitbart] On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) stated that poor decisions in the past by the Biden administration have put us in a bad spot in the crisis in Ukraine and remarked that it would be helpful if some of the weapons and equipment the U.S. left behind in Afghanistan “was in Ukraine right now” to better arm the Ukrainian people to repel the invasion by Russia.
Jordan said, [relevant remarks begin around 4:30] “Sean, think about this: Dan just talked about weapons and what we need to get to the Ukrainians, it would’ve been nice if that $85 billion of weapons and equipment we left in Afghanistan, if that was in — some of that was in Ukraine right now to help the Ukrainian people. That’d be nice. It’d be nice if the State Department would be focused on real diplomacy versus when they sent out the email that said, oh, what pronoun do you want to use? And, oh, we’re going to have gender-neutral passports now, for goodness sake. So, that’s the problem, bad decisions early on that put us in this terrible position. And the Ukrainian people feel it as we speak.”
