Humanity's Meat And Dairy Intake Must Be Halved by 2050 To Avoid Dangerous Climate Change
Call and raise on that stupid steak story from earlier today.

[Salon] - In a recent press release on its website, Greenpeace (a renowned health food organization! - ed.) called for a reduction in meat, dairy, and egg consumption. A new report by the organization states that "global meat and dairy production and consumption must be cut in half by 2050 to avoid dangerous climate change." The report also confirms what many health professionals have said for years: Eating meat and dairy raises various health risks, including risk of cancer, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. Indeed, calling for such a reduction is vital to the fight against global warming, as animal agriculture is the number-one driver of climate change.

California counties and law enforcement push back against sanctuary law
[LATimes] Just more than a week after tiny Los Alamitos voted to defy California's law protecting immigrants in the country illegally, Orange County is poised to become a counterpoint against the state's resistance to the Trump administration's policies.

On Tuesday, Orange County supervisors may consider whether to take up a resolution to condemn and possibly take legal action against the state's "sanctuary" laws.

"These state laws are preempted by federal law," Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson said. "Our officers actually face penalties under state law if they so much as talk to federal agents for the wrong thing. That's just unacceptable and it's contrary to federal law."

Nelson said he'll broach in closed session whether to join a federal lawsuit against the state or launch its own litigation.
When your own sheriffs tell you that the plan is stupid... they aren't racist. Just logical.
Other cities in the county, including Yorba Linda, Buena Park, Huntington Beach and Mission Viejo are also starting to take action to voice their grievances against the state's sanctuary laws aimed at protecting immigrants from President Trump's immigration crackdown.

On Monday, Texas and more than a dozen other states led by Republican governors got behind the Trump administration and filed an amicus brief in support of a lawsuit against California's sanctuary laws.

Nelson jumped onboard of a resolution initially brought on by Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel that would condemn the state's sanctuary laws. She later added wording that would direct the county's public counsel to take legal action.

"We cannot allow this to happen in Orange County and we need to protect our families and our homes here in Orange County," she said. "And that means bolstering our cooperation with federal immigration enforcement and stopping our county from becoming a sanctuary for criminal illegal immigrants."

Once a conservative and Republican stronghold, Orange County has undergone stark demographic shifts. In 2016, Hillary Clinton defeated Trump in the county, which a Democrat hadn't won in a presidential election since the Great Depression.

The issue of illegal immigration and sanctuary laws has been highly divisive in Orange County.

Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, along with other California sheriffs, spoke out in opposition to the law, SB 54. On Monday, Hutchens made inmate release dates ‐ including for those in the country illegally ‐ public in response to the state law.

"We have an obligation to safeguard our community and we will use every tool available to help hold criminals accountable," said Orange County Undersheriff Don Barnes. "Our inability to relinquish these individuals to the custody of ICE causes them to be returned to the communities which they prey upon."

From Jan. 1 to March 19, the agency released 172 inmates in the country illegally into the community because state law prohibited authorities from notifying ICE, said Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Department. It's unclear if any of those people ‐ whose convictions include domestic violence, theft, driving under the influence and criminal threats ‐ have recidivated.

Orange County gave birth to Proposition 187, a ballot initiative approved by voters that sought to deny public services such as public schooling and healthcare to people in the country illegally; the measure was eventually struck down in the courts. And Costa Mesa passed anti-day laborer ordinances and became the epicenter of the anti-illegal immigration movement during the mid-2000s.

Since then, however, much of the county's anti-illegal immigration fervor has eased after many of its cities experienced an influx of Latino and Asian immigrants.

But the anti-sanctuary momentum gaining ground in Orange County shows that it remains a place with a very conservative core.

SB 54, which Gov. Jerry Brown signed after the Legislature passed it last year, prohibits state and local police agencies from notifying federal officials in many cases when immigrants potentially subject to deportation are about to be released from custody.

The Trump administration went to federal court to invalidate the state laws, contending they blatantly obstruct federal immigration law and thus violate the Constitution's supremacy clause, which gives federal law precedence over state measures. That case is pending.

Legal costs is one of the reasons Yorba Linda Mayor Gene Hernandez said the city has not done what Los Alamitos did.

Instead, the city voted to send a supporting amicus brief to the federal lawsuit. The city's decision was prompted by a request from the national field director of Federation for American Immigration Reform, an anti-illegal immigration and immigration restrictionist group in Washington, D.C., known as FAIR.
Also from Orange County the Sheriff makes the release date of prisoners public
The Orange County Sheriff's Department, whose leadership opposes the new California sanctuary law that limits cooperation with federal immigration officials, announced Monday that it is now providing public information on when inmates are released from custody.

As of Monday, March 26, an existing "Who's in Jail" online database includes the date and time of inmates' release – a move agency officials say will enhance communication with its law enforcement partners.

The release date information applies to all inmates, not just those who are suspected of being in the country illegally. But the goal is to assist agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.

"This is in response to SB-54 limiting our ability to communicate with federal authorities and our concern that criminals are being released to the street when there's another avenue to safeguard the community by handing them over (to ICE for potential deportation)," Orange County Undersheriff Don Barnes said.
The thing that gets me is that the illegals in prison aren't nice. They are criminals and will criminal again on release. Why not deport them and keep the good working ones in the community if you are for open borders?!?! It makes no sense unless your goal is to completely destabilize the community so that the government has to step in and take complete control of things. Right?

#1  Orange County used to be synonymous with conservative. It's nice to hear there are a few of them still left. Yorba Linda was the birthplace and early childhood home of Richard Nixon. His family moved to Whittier, not too far away in Los Angeles County but even so it's light years from Hollywood. I don't know if stark is a strong enough word for the demographic shift. Biblical might be more like it, all orchestrated by crooked politicians like Jerry Brown, Bill Clinton, Barak Obama and George W. Bush. Orange County is one of the many reasons why I keep saying you can't just blame all Californians for the lunatics in San Francisco, Hollywood, Berkeley and Sacramento.

French waiter says firing for rudeness is 'discrimination against my culture'
[Guardian] A French waiter fired for being "aggressive, rude and disrespectful" says his behaviour wasn’t out of line ‐ he’s just French.

Guillaume Rey, who worked at a Vancouver restaurant on Canada’s Pacific coast, filed a complaint with British Columbia’s Human Rights Tribunal against his former employer, claiming "discrimination against my culture".

The restaurant, operated by Cara Operations, accused Rey of violating its code of conduct and said he persisted in his behavior despite verbal and written performance reviews.

In alleging discrimination Rey said French culture just "tends to be more direct and expressive".

He owes his sacking to his "direct, honest and professional personality", which he acquired while training in France’s hospitality industry.

Both parties agree Rey performed well at his job despite his allegedly disagreeable demeanour.

I asked for a dining table for six then ordered two entrees with sides and two beers. Drank the beers and when the plates arrived I asked for 2 'go' boxes.

No reason to be inconvenienced by bad service.

Cambridge Analytica - All hype now is it ?
[The Federalist] If you believe what you read, the Cambridge Analytica story is a blockbuster. It is a tale of intrigue and data breaches and manipulation on a mass scale, the sort of thing ripped from the type of paperback spy thriller you discard without a thought after a plane trip ‐ except real. But if you ask anyone from the world Cambridge Analytica tried to inhabit ‐ the highly competitive world of data consulting ‐ about what Cambridge was offering campaigns, the story that emerges is very different. It is transformed into a story about our increasingly credulous media ‐ apparently incapable of understanding how Facebook, the very entity that drives so much of their traffic, actually works ‐ and how journalists are eager to believe the worst about anything, even humdrum data mining, in the age of Donald Trump.

"This is the real world, not a spy novel. And in the real world, what Cambridge Analytica was promising simply doesn’t work," said Republican data consultant Patrick Ruffini. "Their role was downgraded on every major campaign they’ve worked on, including the Trump campaign and the Cruz campaign, when it was clear they couldn’t deliver on what they were selling. These concerns were well known in Republican circles prior to 2016."

"At the end of the day, Cambridge offered nothing more and nothing less than a standard data science program with a brilliant marketing campaign wrapped around it," Ruffini said. "That hype has now caught up to them."

Parent Company 'SCL Group' (link to Wiki page and snippet below) - You decide:

After an initial commercial success, SCL expanded into military and political arenas. It became known for alleged involvement "in military disinformation campaigns to social media branding and voter targeting".[7] According to its website, SCL has participated in over 25 international political and electoral campaigns since 1994.[4]
Moving on to evil foreign gov't regime changes:
SCL’s involvement in the political world has been primarily in the developing world where it has been used by the military and politicians to study and manipulate public opinion and political will. It uses what have been called "psy ops" to provide insight into the thinking of the target audience.[6] SCL claimed to be able to help foment coups.[8] According to its website, SCL has influenced elections in Italy, Latvia, Ukraine, Albania, Romania, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Colombia, Antigua, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Trinidad & Tobago.[4] While the company initially got involved in elections in the United Kingdom, it ceased to do so after 1997 because staff members did not exhibit the same "aloof sensibility" as with projects abroad.
Hence the Cambridge Analytics 'spin off.'
SCL claims that its methodology has been approved or endorsed by agencies of the Government of the United Kingdom and the Federal government of the United States, among others.[9]

Britain
UK's May: Poisoned spy Skripal, daughter may never recover
[AJC] LONDON - British prime minister Theresa May says former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter may never recover from a nerve-agent attack that has left them in critical condition.

May says "their condition is unlikely to change in the near future, and they may never recover fully."

May told lawmakers that more than 130 people in the English city of Salisbury may have been exposed to the nerve agent used to poison the Skripals. More than 50 people have been assessed in hospitals.

A police officer left seriously ill after the March 4 attack was released from hospital last week.

The U.K. blames Russia for the attack, but Moscow denies responsibility. On Monday about 20 countries, including the United States, joined Britain in expelling Russian diplomats in response to the poisoning.

Will Viagra and Cialis Extend Lifespan?
[Rogue Health & Fitness] Viagra and Cialis, and a third, lesser known drug, Levitra, are used to treat erectile dysfunction. Use of these drugs is associated with a lower risk of heart attacks, and can be used as therapeutics against other disease. Will Viagra and Cialis extend lifespan?

Erectile dysfunction drugs such as Viagra inhibit an enzyme called phosphodiesterase 5, or PDE5. Phosphodiesterase enzymes have varying subtypes, and are found in all tissues. They catalyze the breakdown of two molecules, cGMP and cAMP, into inactive compounds.

PDE5 is upregulated from 2- to 5-fold in human heart disease. Inhibition of PDE5 with sildenafil (Viagra) protects against ischemia/reperfusion injury, which means it increases cellular antioxidant protection mechanisms.

Europe
'Thriftiness is sexy': exhibition examines Germans' mania for saving
[Guardian] The desire to conserve cash is seen not just as a question of personal morality but a way to support the country’s interests.
The gathering of downfall twigs and branches for the kitchen.
The German habit of saving money is so entrenched it has come to define the national character, according to the curators of an exhibition who say they hope to spark a much-needed debate about whether the obsession is healthy.

Saving ‐ History of a German Virtue at the German Historical Museum in Berlin seeks to uncover why saving money is central to most Germans’ lives ‐ even in times of historically low interest rates.

"In Germany everyone takes it for granted that they should save, both privately and on a state level," said Robert Muschalla, an economic historian and the main curator. "The idea of making sure you stay in the black, is seen as a goal that is worth striving for at all costs, and is fetishistically stuck to."

Saving boxes, money socks and piggy banks from every era since the foundation of the German nation in 1871 are on display in the exhibition. They illustrate the everyday acceptance of saving in Germany, as well as the extent to which it has been linked not just with personal morality but with serving a national purpose.

"The fate of the nation rests solely in our own strength," reads the epithet on one box from the Nazi era. Another from 1900 reads: "Without saving your chest will be empty. If you have nothing, you’ll be a burden."

Cardinal Timothy Dolan sez Dems Abandon Catholics
[Townhall] New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal Thursday with the title "The Democrats Abandon Catholics." The archbishop of New York made the case that due to the Democratic party’s position on issues like abortion and education for low-income communities, "the party that once embraced Catholics now slams the door on us."

Cardinal Dolan reflected that the "dignity and sanctity of human life, the importance of Catholic schools, the defense of a baby’s civil rights‐were, and still are, widely embraced by Catholics. This often led Catholics to become loyal Democrats. I remember my own grandmother whispering to me, "We Catholics don’t trust those Republicans."

He says this is "no longer the case," and that is "a cause of sadness to many Catholics, me included."

"The needs of poor and middle-class children in Catholic schools, and the right to life of the baby in the womb‐largely have been rejected by the party of our youth," he said.

CNN Poll Shows Highest Approval for Trump in Nearly a Year
[Townhall] It may have been a bitter pill to swallow, but CNN shared its latest poll on President Trump. It seems that the president now has the highest approval rating in 11 months. He is now at a 42 percent approval, up 7 points from February.

He gained some particular ground with Republicans and independents.

Voters are especially pleased with Trump's handling of the economy. Forty-eight percent approve and 45 percent disapprove. However, that seems to be all they're pleased with. Approval for the president's leadership on every other issue is in the red, including guns (54 percent disapprove, 36 percent approve), and foreign policy (53 percent disapprove, 39 percent approve).

That 42 percent number is nothing to brag about either. But, as CNN notes, it is only 4 points behind Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan when compared to this point in their respective presidencies.

Dems Introduce Bill Requiring Background Checks For Ammo Purchases
[Townhall] Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on Monday introduced a bicameral piece of legislation, known as the Ammunition Background Check Act of 2018, that would require background checks for anyone wanting to purchase ammunition.

According to Wasserman-Schultz's office, the legislation would "close a loophole" that allows "criminals, domestic abusers, and dangerously mentally ill individuals" from purchasing ammo.

If passed, the legislation would require ammo purchases to undergo a background check through the National Instant Background Check System (NICS), the same system that is used to conduct background checks for firearms purchases.

Every retailer who sells ammo would be required to conduct a background check system through the NICS system, which isn't a problem for most gun stores who are federal firearms licensees (FFLs). The potential issue would be from stores who sell ammunition but not firearms and do not possess an FFL. They would either have to partner with an FFL to conduct the background checks or they would have to go through the process to become an FFL.

Um... news flash. Most criminals don't buy ammo. They steal what they can get and usually have a weird mix of rounds for their firearms.

Also you kinda need a gun for ammo to be effective so if they already have that and aren't supposed to the system has already failed.

Mueller, Comey Allegedly Allow American to Be Tortured By Al Nusra
After he escaped from Al Qaeda in Syria, American photojournalist Matt Schrier investigated his own kidnapping and uncovered what he describes as a pattern of "betrayal" by FBI agents handling his case.

In an exclusive cable interview that first aired Monday on "The Story" with Martha MacCallum, Schrier went in depth, sharing emails, financial records and formal letters of complaint, which backed up allegations that after he was taken hostage in 2012, the FBI monitored his accounts as Al Qaeda terrorists used his money to buy at least a dozen computers and tablets.

While he was tortured and held by al Nusra, the brutal Al Qaeda franchise in Syria, Schrier claimed the FBI put intelligence gathering ahead of his personal security, hoping to track the computers and tablets to learn more about Al Qaeda recruits and future plots. After his harrowing escape, Schrier started demanding answers from the FBI, which at the time of his kidnapping was led by Mueller.

#5  Big harpoon seems a stupid idea to me. You puncture space debris and you're likely to send a lot of little debris everywhere and at orbital velocities that can be dangerous.

Also debris is likely to be tumbling so the odds of the harpoon deflecting off the target is pretty high and might make the thing spin off more junk.

What they need are drones that can attach and fire enough propellant to send the bigger debris into a burn-up orbit, then detach and move along to the next big chunk (or to refuel from some kind of mother ship/spaceplan).

#6  Small micro-sats with solar sails that loft the bigger satellites into an orbital junkyard -- think of them as resources. For smaller debris put up some solar-powered lasers that will de-orbit the pieces. It just takes time and an in initial investment.
Posted by: magpie || 03/27/2018 14:16 Comments || Top||

#7  I've yet to see how solar sails could work properly in LEO (where the junk is). You orbit in 90 minutes and half that time you are facing into the solar wind and half the time you are facing away. You can't tack like a boat. How does it work? Do you only get speed half the time and unfurl the sails and coast the other half?
Posted by: rjschwarz || 03/27/2018 14:46 Comments || Top||

#8  Solar sails are best used when you can use weeks, or months for the delta-V to change orbits. Low thrust also means low mechanical strength needed for the tether and the micro-sat pulling the junked satellite. As for tacking... change the geometry of the sail for steering.

French to charge two with anti-Semitic murder of 85-year-old Holocaust survivor
[IsraelTimes] After Mireille Knoll found stabbed to death and burned in her Gay Paree apartment, FM Le Drian says La Belle France must continue to fight anti-Semitism.

French authorities said Monday that two men enjugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
for the brutal killing in Gay Paree of an 85-year-old Jewish woman, Holocaust survivor Mireille Knoll, would be charged with an anti-Semitic murder.

The Gay Paree prosecutor’s office said the two suspects have been put in jug. It said it was asking investigating judges to charge the pair with premeditated murder of a vulnerable person for anti-Semitic motives.

They will face possible charges of "murder related to the victim’s religion, real or imagined" as well as aggravated robbery and destruction of property, judicial sources said.

The prosecutor’s office asked that the two be placed in preventive custody.

Two men have been arrested over the killing of Knoll, whose stabbed body was found after her Gay Paree apartment was set ablaze, police sources said.

One suspect was identified as a 29-year-old man. No details were given on the second suspect.

One of the men was a regular visitor of Knoll whom she treated "like a son" and who had visited her that day, her son Daniel said.

"We are really in shock. I don’t understand how someone could kill a woman who has no money and who lives in a social housing complex," her son added.

Israel’s Hadashot news reported that this suspect was a former neighbor of Knoll’s who was jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
for sexually assaulting the daughter of a woman who helped look after her. After his release from jail, Knoll complained that he had been threatening her, the TV report said.

A granddaughter of Knoll, Noa Goldfarb, wrote on Facebook that her grandmother was murdered by a neighbor who is a Moslem.

"Twenty years ago, I left Gay Paree knowing that neither my future nor that of the Jewish People is to be found there," wrote Goldfarb, who lives in Herzliya, Israel. "But who would’ve thought that I was leaving my relatives where terrorism and cruelty would lead to such a tragedy. Grandmother was stabbed to death 11 times by a Moslem neighbor she knew well, who made sure to set fire to her home and left us not even one object, a letter, a photograph, to remember her by. All we have are our tears and each other."
The Local -France adds:
The most recent figures available show that anti-Semitic violence increased by 26 percent last year in France and that criminal damage to Jewish places of worship and burials increased by 22 percent.
Update from The Times of Israel at 9:10 a.m. EDT:
One of the suspects is a Muslim neighbor in his twenties whom she knew well and who had visited her that day, Knoll’s son, who did not wish to be named, told AFP. A police source said the suspect had convictions for rape and sexual assault.

The second suspect, aged 21, has a history of violent robbery. He was in the apartment building on the day of Knoll’s death and his name was given to police by the first suspect, a police source said.
More from another Times of Israel article:
Family members of Mireille Knoll told Israeli media on Tuesday she had known one of her assailants, a Muslim neighbor, since he was seven years old.

“My mother accepted everyone. Even the neighbor who murdered her, she has known since he was seven years old. When he was a boy, he helped her,” Knoll’s son Daniel told Army Radio.

Daniel Knoll said he was told that the neighbor was identified by police because his mother’s phone was missing from the apartment and was later found in the suspect’s possession.

KORUS Trade Deal – No Steel Tariffs For South Korea In Exchange for 50,000 Exports per U.S. Automaker…
[ConservativeTreehouse] Perhaps as early as this week we should anticipate hearing about completion a significant trade agreement with South Korea. The deal is known as "KORUS" (KOR+U.S.), and has been in negotiations for over a year.

Part of the recent agreement within the auto-sector of the deal, between Moon Jae-in and President Donald Trump, via Lighthizer and Ross, is an exemption of U.S. steel tariffs for South Korea in exchange for a doubling of U.S. auto exports; from 25,000 to 50,000 American made cars, per U.S. automaker, per year.
Continues.

Well-Done Meat May Be Bad For Your Blood Pressure
Headline may be a touch dramatic. Actually, according to the article:
The study, of more than 100,000 U.S. adults, found the odds of high blood pressure were a bit higher among people who liked their meat grilled, broiled or roasted, versus those who favored more temperate cooking methods.

The same was true of people who were partial to well-done meat. Compared with fans of rarer meat, they were 15 percent more likely to develop high blood pressure over 12 to 16 years.
Still, anyone who gets a steak well done deserves whatever happens to them.

There is also a separate list, the File for the Prevention of Terrorist Radicalisation (FSPRT), for people judged to be terror threats.

Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s police, politicians accused of joining anti-Muslim riots
[DAWN] Police and politicians backed by the country’s former strongman Mahinda Rajapaksa joined anti-Moslem riots that rocked Sri Lanka’s Kandy district this month, according to witnesses, officials and CCTV footage reviewed by Rooters.

Scores of Moslem mosques, homes and businesses were destroyed as mobs ran amok for three days in Kandy, the central highlands district previously known for its diversity and tolerance. The government declared a state of emergency and blocked social media platforms for a week to control the unrest.

The role of police and some local Buddhist politicians suggests the Sri Lankan government lost control of elements of its security forces, and that the violence was more than a spontaneous outbreak fuelled by fringe Buddhist forces of Evil and hate-speech spread on social media.

Rajapaksa has denied that he or other leaders of his party were involved. Police said the allegations against officers and politicians were being investigated.

Victims and witnesses, whose accounts were partly backed by CCTV footage seen by Rooters, described members of an elite paramilitary police unit, the Special Task Force (STF), assaulting Moslem holy man and leaders. Local STF commanders declined to comment.

"39 Days": How Parkland shooting survivors turned grief into action

#7  On the day of the shooting, I got my camera and got on my bike and road as fast as I could three miles from my house to the school to get as much video and to get as many interviews as I could because I knew that this could not be another mass shooting."

Let me get this straight. Assuming his recording of crawling around and hush asking questions in a classroom under lockdown was not pre-recorded...

He was home either playing hooky or school punishment because a sick person could not make the odyssey of:

Receiving notice of a school shooting. Making a snap decision to go get footage. Riding a bike 3 miles through traffic, incoming EMTs, outgoing Sheriff Deputies, through out-of-county LEOs moving toward shooting, and into a classroom, and getting footage while still under lockdown; as in classroom door is locked and do not open at all for any reason.

All in 15 minutes or so.

I don't think straw boy could make that trip in time with a Boward County Sports Patrol Vehicle, but a bicycle? Looks like he would cramp up using chop stick.

And all this, because it could not be a mass shooting?

This is why I wanted Moar Hogg. Between this and his horrible, wonderful, golden Olde People rant, all these childrens come off as not crises actors, but unabashed failed child actors unqualified to be extras in the remake of E.T. the Emigrant Terrestrial.

It's getting a little squirrelly at the coast
[San Diego Union-Tribune] Ground squirrels seem to be everywhere along the North County coast, despite the best efforts of city and state parks officials to reduce their numbers.

"I almost tripped over a few, and one tried to join me here at the picnic table," said Kevin Braasch, a visitor from Chicago who had just sat down near Tamarack Avenue in Carlsbad after a two-mile jog from his hotel. "They sure are friendly creatures."

A little too friendly, most people would say. The squirrel population is booming down by the beach, so much so that the animals have lost their fear of humans. They scamper right up to people, usually looking for a hand-out.

But don’t feed the animals, the rangers say.

on Sunday.

On Sunday Saudi air defence forces shot down seven ballistic missiles fired at the capital of Riyadh, as well as other southern cities of Saudi Arabia; however, the debris of the missiles killed an Egyptian national and injured three others, two of whom are his relatives.

The ambassador was accompanied by a number of Egyptian officials in Riyadh, including the consul and the defence attaché, a foreign ministry statement added.

Egyptian authorities are paying to transfer the body of Abdel Motaleb Ahmed Hussein, the man who was killed, to Egypt, the ministry added.

The three men injured, Mohammed Ahmed Hussein, Shehab Mahmoud Hussein and Tareq Abo Taleb Mohammed, are stable and one will be released from hospital soon, the statement said.

Hussein is the first person to be killed on Saudi soil by military action since the Saudi-led coalition started their military operations in Yemen in 2015, Rooters reported.

The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
turbans have fired dozens of missiles into Saudi Arabia since last year, all of which were intercepted.

Ten thousand people have been killed during the war in Yemen, two million people have been displaced, and one million people have had cholera, Rooters reported.

Democrat candidate for Sheriff of liberal Buncombe County, NC advocates killing citizens to confiscate their guns. Not kidding!
[PowderedWigSociety] Asheville, North Carolina is beautiful southern town in the mountains of western North Carolina. It is also a bastian of liberal idealogy, maybe not quite as extreme as Berkeley, California, but not far behind either.

So, how does one get elected to office in Asheville? By being a flaming liberal, that’s how.

Listen to this brain-dead Democrat, Daryl Fisher, who is running for sheriff of Buncombe County, the seat and heart of which is liberal-dominated Asheville, as he suggests killing law-abiding citizens to take their guns from their "cold, dead hands."

"You’ve heard people say ’you’ll have to pry my gun from my cold, dead hands,'" Fisher told his adoring liberal audience.

He then shrugged, and said, "OK!" declaring that in his opinion it is fine for law enforcement to kill citizens to confiscate their firearms.

So pleased with himself at his audience’s applause, Fisher continued, "Uh, whenever you pass away we’ll come get it, I don’t know. I’m saying. Joking just a little bit there."

"Joking just a little bit?" The twitterstorm his outrageous comment inspired made it clear that very few real Americans appreciate his joke, and the fact that he admitted that he was "joking just a little bit" proves that he was serious A LOT!

I’m not sure which is worse, the fact that this moron made the statement or the fact that so many people applauded it.

The shame is this guy, running as a Democrat, has a very good chance of being the next Sheriff of Buncombe County. You may want to consider that and be sure to steer clear of that area if it happens to be along your route to a travel destination.

#1  Pure bunkum from the source of that word. Wiktionary: From buncombe, from “speaking to (or for) Buncombe County, North Carolina”, a county in North Carolina named for Edward Buncombe. In 1820, Felix Walker, who represented the county in the U.S. House of Representatives, rose to address the question of admitting Missouri as a free or slave state, his first attempt to speak on the subject after nearly a month of solid debate, right before the vote was to be called. To the exasperation of colleagues, he began a long and wearisome speech, explaining that he was speaking not to Congress but "to Buncombe."[1] He was ultimately shouted down by his colleagues,[2] though his speech was published in a Washington paper[3] and his persistence made "buncombe" (later respelled "bunkum") a synonym for meaningless political claptrap and later for any kind of nonsense,[1] at first only in the jargon of Washington and then in common usage

Partner of French gunman was known by police as radicalized
[IsraelTimes] A French judicial official says the partner of the Islamist Death Eater who carried out a terror attack last week in southern La Belle France was, like him, known to police as radicalized.

The 18-year-old woman was still being detained by police for questioning in the case, as well as a 17-year-old friend of gunman Radouane Lakdim,

French politician arrested for tweet celebrating policeman’s death

[IsraelTimes] Stephane Poussier held 'for justifying acts of terrorism' after welcoming death of Arnaud Beltrame, killed in terror rampage on Friday. He could face up to seven years in prison and a fine of 100,000 euros ($124,000).

“Whenever a policeman is shot… I think of my friend Remi Fraisse,” Poussier said on Twitter, referring to an environmental activist killed by a stun grenade fired by police during a 2014 protest over a dam.

“And this time it was a colonel, great! Additionally, it means one less Macron voter,” he added.

Poussier stood unsuccessfully in elections last year as a candidate for the La France Insoumise (France Unbowed) party of radical leftwinger Jean-Luc Melenchon.

Malaysia government proposes 10 years in jail for fake news
[DAWN] Malaysia’s government proposed new legislation on Monday to outlaw fake news with a 10-year jail term for offenders, a move slammed by critics as a draconian bid to crack down on dissent ahead of a general election.

Prime Minister Najib Razak has been dogged by a multibillion-dollar corruption scandal involving an indebted state fund, and rights activists fear the new law could be used to criminalize news reports and critical opinions on government misconduct. A general election must be held by August but is widely expected in the next few weeks.

Petraeus: CIA Nominee Will Tell Congress 'She Gets It' on Enhanced Interrogation Illegality
[PJ] WASHINGTON ‐ Retired Gen. David Petraeus, who was under consideration as President Trump’s secretary of State after the 2016 election, applauded Trump’s trade actions toward China as "long overdue" as well as his choice of CIA Director Mike Pompeo to lead the State Department.

"He’s a very bright individual ‐ No. 1 in his class at West Point ‐ that’s a special breed of an individual, Harvard Law School, successful businessman, obviously a successful political figure and has been a strong director of the CIA," Petraeus said during a Veterans in Global Leadership reception on Thursday evening.

"So what I would look for there, in particular, would be how quickly can they get qualified individuals nominated and confirmed, because a State Department without confirmed assistant secretaries of State is a State Department that doesn’t have one of its most important elements," he added.

Petraeus, who served CIA director under President Obama, said many people are wondering why it’s taking so long for the Senate to confirm assistant secretaries of State and why there has been "such an exodus" of senior ranking officials at the State Department.

"It’s hard to understand what is the dynamic here, what was all that about, but my hope would certainly be that Mike Pompeo, recognizing the issues that exist, will be able to work effectively with the White House and with the president, with whom he’s developed, obviously, a very strong relationship and mutual respect," he said. "He’s a strong leader and I would hope that we would see quick results on that front, in particular."

A California man who believes the Earth is flat launched himself almost 2,000 feet in the air in a homemade rocket
[Bus Insider] A man who believes the Earth is flat launched himself almost 2,000 feet into the air in a homemade rocket over the weekend.

"Mad" Mike Hughes, 61, ascended 1,875 feet in his crowdfunded rocket on Saturday before crashing back to Earth in the Mojave Desert outside Amboy, California.

"I'm tired of people saying I chickened out and didn't build a rocket ‐ I'm tired of that stuff," Hughes told The Associated Press after landing. "I manned up and did it."

Apart from a sore back and dinged-up rocket, Hughes told the AP he was fine. Hughes has generated controversy over his scientifically unsupported belief that the Earth is flat and shaped "like a Frisbee," as he describes it.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, he said his goal for the launch was to see the Earth's shape.

"Do I believe the Earth is shaped like a Frisbee? I believe it is," Hughes said. "Do I know for sure? No. That's why I want to go up in space."

Hughes' rocket hit estimated speeds of 350 mph before he pulled his parachute. He had to deploy a second parachute to keep from hitting the ground too hard.

"This thing wants to kill you 10 different ways," Hughes told the AP of his rocket.

United States expels 60 Russians as allies back Britain in spy row
[DAWN] The United States joined Britannia's allies in Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and around the world on Monday in expelling scores of suspected Russian spies in an unprecedented response to a nerve agent attack.

At least 113 alleged agents working under diplomatic cover were ordered out by 21 governments, dwarfing similar measures in even the most notorious Cold War spying disputes, and marking a British diplomatic victory.

Washington led the way, ordering out 60 Russians, in a new blow to US-Russia ties less than a week after President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
congratulated Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
on his re-election.

Canada, Ukraine, Albania and most European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
states matched the move with smaller-scale expulsions, after Britannia urged allies to respond to the poisoning of double agent Sergei Skripal.

Russia has denied it was behind the attempted liquidation, which left Skripal and his daughter gravely ill in perhaps the first nerve agent attack in Europe since World War II.

Haftar rejects offer from Al-Sirraj to share power
[LIBYANEXPRESS] The commander of the self-styled army in eastern Libya, Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, has reportedly rejected an offer by the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez al-Siarraj to share control of Libya and end the current political stalemate in the country, al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reported.

According to the newspaper, al-Sirraj sent a delegate to meet with Haftar in al-Rajma, in the town of Marij in eastern Libya.

Al-Sirraj offered splitting power between him and Haftar, forming a new presidential council, giving Haftar a top military position and ministerial portfolios.

According to the newspaper, Haftar rejected the offer as he still thinks that al-Sirraj and his government are illegitimate.

With extra troops, snipers, drones, Israel braces for Land Day border protest
[IsraelTimes] 7 years ago, mobs from Leb and Syria broke through the northern security fence. Now, fears are growing that Gazoo march planned for Friday could end in mass border rush.

Israel’s security forces are gearing up for huge "Land Day" protests, expected to take place along the Gazoo Strip’s security fence on Friday, putting additional units on alert out of concerns thon the lam numbers of Paleostinians might try to break through the barrier and rush into Israel.

Earlier this month, Paleostinian groups announced plans for a six-week-long "March of Return," including the construction of a tent city across from the Gazoo security fence, and called on tens of thousands of Gazoo residents to participate in what they described as a "peaceful protest."

China-Japan-Koreas
The U.S. anti-DPRK "human rights" racket is absolutely unwarranted.
[KCNAWATCH.CO] The injustice of the U.S. "human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
" racket against the DPRK finds a manifestation in its abuse of the UN as a means for encroaching upon the illusory sovereignty of independent states and for establishing the world domination order.

The UN is a stage for facilitating cooperation and exchanges among its member nations over human rights. It can never be a stage for justifying interference in the internal affairs of other countries and the racket for putting pressure on them.

But the U.S. is using the UN Human Rights Council entrusted with the mission and duty to contribute to guaranteeing human rights in the world as a means for interference in the internal affairs of those countries incurring its displeasure and subversion of their social systems.

Question is why the U.S. is getting keen on kicking up the groundless "human rights" racket.

By nature, the U.S. has left no means untried to stifle the DPRK out of its inveterate bitter repugnancy against the latter.

Its practice never works on the DPRK.

The U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK has faced the fate of bankruptcy. Just as a drowning man catching at a straw, the U.S. is resorting to the false "human rights" racket against the DPRK in the face of successive bitter defeats. Its aim is to internationalize "human rights" issue in the DPRK and kick off a worldwide campaign for putting the "maximum pressure" on the DPRK. In the end, it seeks to bring down the social system in the DPRK.

The situation makes one bear in mind the immutable truth that human rights precisely mean the state right and the illusory sovereignty of the country and the nation, and that the military capabilities for self-defence have to be strengthened to defend them.

“Confused and Distracted”: McCabe Uses Flynn Defense Against False Statement Allegation
[Jonathan Turley] Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe penned an op-ed for The Washington Post to contest the allegation of his "lack of candor" with federal investigators. I have been writing (here and here and here) on the contrast between the treatment of McCabe and former national security adviser Michael Flynn. McCabe has been erroneously portrayed as "losing his pension" but has not been charged. Flynn was charged and accepted a plea deal under 18 U.S.C. 1001 for making a false statement to investigators. Now McCabe is raising virtually the same defense that did not work for Flynn: that there was a lot going on and he was "confused and distracted."

Given his willingness to hold forth publicly on his actions, McCabe does not appear to expect to be charged even though the Inspector General could refer a criminal allegation to prosecutors.

He lashes about at President Donald Trump and critics to assert ’I did not knowingly mislead or lie to investigators." He then added this familiar defense: "At worst, I was not clear in my responses, and because of what was going on around me may well have been confused and distracted ‐ and for that I take full responsibility."

That is reportedly the same defense raised by Flynn who admitted to meeting with Russian diplomats during the busy transition period but did not disclose or confirm that they spoke about sanctions. He reportedly also did not make such a disclosure to Vice President Pence. There was nothing unlawful in the meeting with the Russians or even unprecedented for an incoming national security adviser to discuss such points of tension between the countries. Flynn did not seek legal assistance before the interview and was reportedly not told that the investigators were there as part of a possible criminal inquiry.

#1  "...did not seek legal assistance before the interview and was reportedly not told that the investigators were there as part of a possible criminal inquiry"

For better or for worse, this happens everyday. People are routinely interviewed in non-criminal matters. There's usually a warning that says the only way this interview goes criminal is if you lie. Neither Flynn nor McCabe would be in a pickle if they told the truth. Both of them know that. Both of these cats played this game long enough and rose to top spots. One does not get to breathe that rarified air w/out knowing the deal. They both thought they'd get away w/it.

Pro tip for the day. If someone shows you a badge, the only words you need to say are "I'm calling my lawyer".

Rupee slumps to new lows
[DAWN] THE local currency market witnessed volatile trade last week after the State Bank of Pakistain allowed market forces to determine the dollar exchange rate.

The week was reduced to four trading sessions on account of Pakistain Day Holiday on March 23.

On the interbank market, the rupee lost one paisa on Monday.

The dollar drifted slightly higher at Rs110.57 and Rs110.58 against the prior weekend’s level of Rs110.56 and Rs110.57.

On Tuesday, the rupee plunged over four per cent against the dollar, initially hitting an all-time low above Rs116, due to the central bank’s sudden move to allow rupee devaluation amid economic strains.

Later in the session, the rupee recovered losses and settled at Rs114.80 and Rs115.20, still losing Rs4.23 on the buying counter and Rs4.62 on the selling counter.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Damascus’s ‘leave or die’ tactics force Syrians to flee rebel enclave
[DAWN] Weeping Syrians boarded buses to leave a ravaged pocket of eastern Ghouta on Sunday, in a new wave of evacuations to clear another part of the former rebel bastion.

Five weeks since the Syrian government launched an all-out assault on Ghouta, it holds more than 90 percent of the onetime opposition stronghold on the edge of Damascus.

To help it capture the rest, key government backer Russia has mediated talks with various rebel groups to negotiate withdrawals from the three remaining pockets.

One area was emptied under such a deal in recent days and evacuations began late on Saturday for a second part, held by the Islamist Faylaq al Rahman rebel faction.

That agreement is set to see some 7,000 rebels and civilians bussed from the towns of Arbin and Zamalka and the district of Jobar to the rebel-dominated province of Idlib in northwestern Syria.

After hours of delay, around 980 of them quit Ghouta on Saturday night aboard 17 buses and several ambulances.

They arrived in part of Hama province near the border with Idlib on Sunday morning.

Devastated Syrian civilians and rebel fighters dressed in black gathered in the early morning in the main streets of Arbin.

They carried duffel bags and dragged suitcases stuffed to the brim as they shuffled past ruined buildings.

By mid-morning, around 20 empty buses and ambulances had entered the town, parking at a large roundabout.

Fighters and civilians began to board, bidding tearful goodbyes to their home towns before they headed to opposition territory further north.

UN concerned by new Hamas checks on Israel-Gaza border
[IsraelTimes] Terror group says new checkpoint at Erez crossing only 'temporary,' part of manhunt for suspects behind attack on Paleostinian Authority PM
Possibly true. However, it is definitely true that this will increase pressure on Gaza residents just before the big protests planned for Friday that will include rushing the border fence.
The United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
expressed concern Monday over new Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, checks at the border between Gazoo and Israel, after the terror group began what it said were temporary security measures.

Hamas handed over the border to the internationally recognized Paleostinian Authority government in November as part of a reconciliation agreement that was meant to end a decade-long split between the two largest Paleostinian factions.

But the deal has collapsed and last week Hamas implemented new checks on Paleostinians seeking to leave the enclave, saying it was searching for a runaway.

"Reports have emerged today indicating that Hamas has set up a checkpoint outside the Erez crossing, controlling the entrance of national and international personnel into Gazoo and the exit of all Gazoo ID holders," UN official Nikolay Mladenov said in an address to the Security Council.

Mladenov, UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, said that he noted the reports "with concern."

A front man for the Hamas-run interior ministry in Gazoo said its border measures were "temporary" and had been imposed as part of a manhunt for suspects in an attack on Paleostinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah’s convoy.

Hamdallah was unhurt when a roadside kaboom hit his convoy during a rare visit to Gazoo on March 13, in which he was in part due to discuss the stalled reconciliation process.

Last week the main suspect announced by Hamas was killed by security forces during an arrest raid in Gazoo.

PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
, who oversees Hamdallah’s government, has directly accused Hamas of the bombing, a claim rejected by the terrorist organization.

Iran supplies sophisticated IEDs to Houthi militias
[ARABNEWS] Sophisticated improvised bombs camouflaged as rocks are Iran’s latest contribution to Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
forces in Yemen, according to a report by a weapons-tracking group.

Based on six missions to Yemen

over the last year, and comparisons with similar devices documented elsewhere in the Middle East, Conflict Armament Research (CAR) said the radio-controlled bombs were evidence of a "recent influx of technology."

"Improvised weapons used by Yemen’s Houthi forces have been manufactured using the same, identically configured components as those recovered from Iranian-backed groups in Bahrain," said James Bevan, executive director of the group. "CAR’s latest findings confirm consistencies in Iran’s military support, not only to Houthi forces but also to its proxies across the wider region."

Saudis intercept seven Yemeni rebel missiles in deadly escalation
[DAWN] Saudi forces intercepted seven Yemeni rebel missiles on Sunday, including over the capital Riyadh, in a deadly escalation on the eve of the third anniversary of the Saudi-led coalition's intervention in Yemen.

One Egyptian was killed and two of his countrymen were maimed by falling shrapnel in Riyadh, authorities said, with residents reporting loud kabooms and bright flashes in the sky shortly before midnight.

The Houthis fired three missiles at Riyadh and four others at the southern cities of Khamis Mushait, Jizan and Najran, with the coalition saying they all targeted populated areas.

"This aggressive and hostile action by the Iran-backed Huthi group proves that the Iranian regime continues to support the gang with military capabilities," coalition front man Turki al-Malki said.

"The firing of multiple ballistic missiles towards cities is a serious development."

The Huthi-run al-Masira television channel claimed the rebels had targeted Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport as well as other airstrips in the south of the kingdom.

Pakistain strongly condemned the ballistic missile attacks and commended Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's government "for destroying the missiles and limiting the casualties".

The strikes come after the US defence secretary last week urged Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as of 2016....
during his visit to Washington to pursue "urgent efforts" to end Yemen's wrenching conflict.

The Houthis have fired dozens of missiles into Saudi Arabia since last year, all of which Saudi forces claim to have intercepted, underscoring their capacity to strike deep within the kingdom amid a stalemated war in Yemen.

The latest attack could further escalate the coalition's military campaign.

A major attack targeting Riyadh international airport on November 4 triggered the tightening of a longstanding Saudi-led blockade of Yemen

"A security force immediately rushed to the blast site and carried the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment," according to the source.

The Grand Turk
‘Army Of Islam': Erdogan's Plot Against Israel
A different take on the subject than we had two weeks ago.
[Algemeiner] Less than a month ago ‐ in advance of the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul ‐ the Turkish daily Yeni Safak, which is considered one of the mouthpieces of Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), published an article entitled "A Call for Urgent Action."

The same article was also published on the newspaper’s website with the more explicit title: "What if an Army of Islam was Formed Against Israel?" The article openly called on the 57 member states of the OIC to form a joint "Army of Islam" to simultaneously attack Israel from the east, west, north and south.

According to Israel’s Shin Bet, the source of the article appears to be the Turkish company SADAT, which among other sinister plots, is aiding Hamas with funds and military gear to create a "Palestinian" army to join in the fight against Israel.

The idea of creating an "Army of Islam" to destroy Israel was accompanied by an interactive map providing formation of military forces for a joint Muslim attack on Israel. It also provides details on military forces based in various locations.

Yeni Safak further explained, "If the member states of the OIC unite militarily, they will form the world’s largest and most comprehensive army. The number of active soldiers would be at least 5,206,100, while the defense budget would reach approximately $175 billion."

This article provided additional details of the scandalous plan, stating that, "It is expected that 250,000 soldiers will participate in the first of a possible operation. Land, air and naval bases of member states located in the most critical regions will be used. Joint bases will be constructed in a short period of time. ... It is possible for 500 tanks and armored vehicles, 100 planes and 500 attack helicopters and 50 ships to mobilize quickly."

Regardless of how absurd and troubling this suicidal plan may seem, Erdogan did not disavow the report. In fact, he has reiterated on several occasions his ambition to resurrect the Ottoman Empire, in which context he wants to create the "Army of Islam."
...
MP Alparslan Kavaklioglu, a member of the ruling AKP and the head of the parliament’s Security and Intelligence Commission, recently stated: "The Muslim population will outnumber the Christian population in Europe. This... has increased the nationalistic, xenophobic and anti-Islam rhetoric there. Hence, marginal, small parties have started to get large numbers of votes... But there is no remedy for it. Europe will be Muslim. We will be effective there, Allah willing. I am sure of that."

To promote the revival of the Ottoman Empire and his ambition to become the leader of the Muslim world, Erdogan exploits Islam as the common cause around which all Muslim states can rally. He uses religion to prevent questioning either his motive or the nature of his mission, and acts as if it were all ordained by God. No one should be surprised if Erdogan soon announces that Sharia law is the law of the land. He exploits Islam for personal and political gain, uses Islamic symbols and precepts to indoctrinate the public, and promotes Islamic studies in schools to cultivate a new generation of devout Muslims loyal to him.
Continues.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea leader Kim Jong Un visits China
[ARABNEWS] North Korea leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
has visited China, Bloomberg reported on Monday citing three unnamed sources, in what would be his first known overseas trip since taking power in 2011 and ahead of a potential summit with US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
Details of his visit including its purpose and itinerary were not yet known, Bloomberg said. Japanese media reported earlier on Monday that a high-ranking Pyongyang official appeared to have arrived by train in Beijing.

Kyodo, citing sources close to the matter, said the visit of the official was intended to improve ties between Beijing and Pyongyang that have been frayed by North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and China’s backing of tough sanctions against North Korea at the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
Security Council.

The visit could not immediately be confirmed by Rooters.

Footage from Nippon News Network, owned by Nippon TV, showed what an announcer described as a green train carriage with yellow horizontal lines, part of a 21-car train, similar to the kind that Kim’s late father, Kim Jong Il, rode when he visited Beijing in 2011.

Beijing has traditionally been the closest ally of secretive and isolated North Korea. But Kim is due to hold summit meetings separately with China’s rivals, South Korea and the United States.

"Such a visit would reflect China’s effort to get back in the game," said Scott Snyder, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations think tank. "Xi would not tolerate being third in line to meet Kim."

Asked earlier at a daily news briefing about reports of an important North Korean visitor arriving at the Chinese border city of Dandong, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said she was unaware of the situation.

Nobody answered the telephone at the North Korean embassy in Beijing on Monday evening.

"The government is closely communicating with relevant countries and monitoring the situation," South Korea’s presidential Blue House said in a statement via a messaging app earlier on Monday.

Asked about the report that Kim was in China, White House front man Raj Shah told news hounds on Monday: "We can’t confirm those reports. We don’t know if they’re necessarily true."

Spain breaks up cybercrime gang after $1.2 billion spree
[ARABNEWS] Police in Spain have captured a cybercrime gang made up of Ukrainians and Russians that allegedly stole more than 1 billion euros ($1.24 billion) from financial institutions worldwide in a five-year spree, authorities said Monday.

The gang’s alleged criminal mastermind, identified as a Ukrainian and named only as "Denis K.," was tossed in the calaboose

law enforcement agency Europol.

Three suspected accomplices, said to be Russian and Ukrainian, were also arrested, Spanish authorities said. In Ukraine, police said that an unidentified 30-year-old man linked to the gang was cooperating with authorities.

The hackers ‐ whose activities have long been tracked by security researchers ‐ used malware to target more than 100 financial institutions worldwide, sometimes stealing up to 10 million euros in each heist. Almost all of Russia’s banks were targeted, and about 50 of them lost money in the electronic robberies, authorities said.

The gang used well-worn techniques such as booby trapped emails to break into banks and compromise the networks controlling ATMs, effectively turning the machines into free cash dispensers.

Ross Rustici, a senior director at Boston-based digital security firm Cybereason, said the gang stood out from others because of the amount of care and planning it put into operations.

"They’re unusual in how slow and methodical they are and how organized they are," Rustici said. Other groups use similar techniques in isolation, "but nobody before them had strung all those things together on such a scale," he said.

Authorities said that the gang converted its illicit gains into bitcoins and used the cryptocurrency to purchase big ticket items, including houses and vehicles, in Spain.

Rustici said it seemed likely the gang members botched their effort to launder their ill-gotten gains.

"That’s usually what happens with these who are very good on the network side, they make mistakes on the money side," he said. "You can’t buy a nice villa on the Mediterranean with cryptocurrency. Or at least not yet."

Iraq
Turkey's Erdogan says operations begin in Iraq's Sinjar region
[AlAhram] President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
had begun operations in Iraq's Sinjar region, an area where it has threatened a military incursion, two days after sources said Kurdish PKK bully boyz would withdraw from the area.

"We said we would go into Sinjar. Now operations have begun there. The fight is internal and external," Erdogan told a crowd in the Black Sea province of Trabzon, without elaborating on what operations he was referring to.

Iraq's Joint Operations Command denied that any foreign forces had crossed the border into Iraq.

"The operations command confirmed that the situation in Nineveh, Sinjar and the border areas was under the control of Iraqi security forces and there is no reason for troops to cross the Iraqi border into those areas," it said in a statement.

Sources in Sinjar said there was no unusual military activity in the area on Sunday.

President Tayyip Erdogan said last week the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) were creating a new base in Sinjar, and that Ottoman Turkish forces would attack if necessary.

Sources in northern Iraq said on Friday the PKK would withdraw from Sinjar, where it gained a foothold in 2014 after coming to the aid of the Yazidi minority community, who were under attack by Islamic State

i newspaper has claimed that the Ottoman Turkish army set up 19 military barracks and deployed tanks inside Iraqi territories to face the threat of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters.

The London-based al-Araby al-Jadeed paper quoted a local source as saying on Monday that the Ottoman Turkish army established the barracks inside Kurdish and Assyrian villages and built a fence around them.

"The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

also deployed tanks and medium-range artillery systems that are capable of reaching the depth of the Kurdistan region," according to the source.

He pointed out the Ottoman Turkish move came as part of Ankara efforts to secure borders between Iraq and Turkey against the PKK threat.

Why Banning Abortion Will Save Millions More Lives Than Banning Guns
[The Federalist] Over the weekend there was a massive march in Washington and other cities to demand new laws, ostensibly on behalf of innocent lives being endangered. That sounds like another giant protest march that takes place once a year in Washington, except this one is being reported coast-to-coast, buoyed by celebrity endorsements, and hailed as the dawn of a revolution, rather than being studiously ignored or downplayed.

It should be obvious that I’m speaking of the March for Our Lives and the March for Life, two ostensibly similar marches advocating ostensibly similar views. Yet comparing the two positions reveals illuminating fundamental differences.

Of course the most obvious distinction is in the subject matter: one favors limiting or ending gun owners, the other limiting or ending abortion. Let’s consider the two subjects, for here the crux of the matter rests.

Gun rights deal with a person’s right to own a particular tool for a particular purpose. Put briefly, a gun is a weapon; weapons are used in fighting. People want to own guns so if they ever need to fight to defend themselves, their families, or their rights, they can do so effectively. There are obvious and legitimate reasons why they would want this, ranging from violent attackers to civil unrest.

But, although they have legitimate uses, guns by nature are open to abuse. They allow a person with evil intent to inflict more damage than he would otherwise. Gun-control advocates argue the potential for abuse is greater than the legitimate need for private firearms, at least with regards to certain weapons. In other words, gun control advocates wish to limit access to guns in order to limit their potential for abuse.

Abortion rights deal with a person’s right to do or have done a particular procedure. This procedure, by definition, destroys a human life: specifically the human life the people in question created by having intercourse, whether consensually or violently. They desire this because, to one degree or another, the life to be destroyed is unwanted or inconvenient and was not intended to be created.

Although the reasons for wishing to destroy this life may be understandable, abortion still destroys an innocent human life. Moreover, in most cases that innocent human life was created by other people voluntarily engaging in an act they knew could lead to this outcome. Pro-life advocates argue that deliberately killing an innocent human being simply cannot be justified, save in cases of direst need such as when the life of the mother is at stake.

In other words, pro-life advocates wish to forbid a particular action that, by definition, destroys a human life.

were a serious escalation and threat to regional and international security.

Coalition front man Col. Turki al-Malki told a news conference in Riyadh that Sunday’s missile attacks on the Saudi capital were a clear violation of international law and accused the Houthis of smuggling weapons from Iran.

The coalition threatened retaliation against Tehran, accusing it of being behind the multiple attacks on the Kingdom.

We "reserve the right to respond against Iran at the right time and right place," coalition front man Turki al-Malki told a news conference, calling the development a "dangerous escalation."

Saudi forces said they intercepted seven missiles on Sunday, including over the capital Riyadh, in a deadly escalation that coincided with the third anniversary of the coalition’s intervention in Yemen.

Displaying wreckage at a news conference in Riyadh of what it said were fragments of those ballistic missiles, the coalition claimed forensic analysis showed they were supplied to Houthi rebels by their ally Iran.

"The missiles launched against Saudi territory were smuggled from Iran," coalition front man Turki al-Malki told news hounds.

"Iran has become like an appendix in the body of the international community. Either they correct their evil path or the international community will correct it for them," he said.

Al-Maliki added Houthi rebels have fired 104 ballistic missiles towards Saudi Arabia and Iran exploits the al-Hudaydah Port in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
to smuggle ballistic weapons to the Houthis.

He also stated that Houthis are using Sanaa airport as a platform to train their militias and as a base to launch their Iranian-made "Sayyad" ballistic missiles.

Presenting the remnants of alleged Iranian-made missiles, al-Maliki described the possession of ballistic missiles by Houthi bully boyz as a "serious developmnet".

"Yemen has suffered from Iranian intervention and support for Houthi bully boyz to force a coup," he added.

The missile strikes resulted in the first reported fatality from Houthi fire in the Saudi capital.

Egyptian national Abdul-Moteleb Ahmed, 38, died instantly in his bed when what appeared to be burning shrapnel struck his ramshackle room in Riyadh’s Um al-Hammam district, leaving a gaping hole in the roof, witnesses said.

Three other Egyptian laborers in the same room were maimed and hospitalized, they said.

The Iran-aligned Houthis said on their al-Masirah television that Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport was among the targets.

Al-Maliki alleged the rebels in Sanaa were using the airport there to launch missiles on Saudi territory, adding the coalition had seized a number of smuggled weapons.

Iran has repeatedly denied arming the Houthis in Yemen, despite claims by the United States and Saudi Arabia that the evidence of an arms connection is irrefutable.
