Grandmaster Garry Kasparov Predicts 'Palace Coup' May Oust Putin Over Ukraine
[HUFFPOST] Russian chess legend Garry Kasparov on Monday explained what may lead to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ouster by his inner circle in a "palace coup."

CNN’s Paula Reid asked the longtime Putin critic and political activist if he expected to see more anti-Kremlin sentiment building in Russia as its invasion of Ukraine falters.

"Eventually, yes," replied Kasparov, a chess grandmaster for the former Soviet Union and Russia.

Kasparov then laid out "the order of moves that cannot be reversed."

"First, the Russian public and Russian elite, they have to recognize the war is lost," he said. "The bad news coming from Ukraine will inspire more people to rise because economic hardship will increase."

"So, military defeat in Ukraine, social-economic revolt and then you will have conditions, the right conditions, for a palace coup," Kasparov predicted. "Because many of Putin’s inner circle will be looking for a scapegoat and it’s always a dictator who should be blamed for all the failures."

Putin knows losing the war on Ukraine "is not an option for him," said Kasparov.

"It’s a matter of political survival and in many cases ... of physical survival," he added. "That’s why he has to pretend he is winning the war."

#6  Meanwhile, Russia destroys Ukraine's ability to export anything (except needy refugees), takes over that country's share of the global wheat market and grabs all its natural gas reserves in the Donbas.

All while the US destroys the reserve currency status of the dollar, the West becomes significantly poorer, China gains power and influence and the non-western world orients itself toward Russia and China.

SCOTUS swats away SALT cap challenge that limits tax deductions in New York, Maryland
[FoxNews] BLUF: Having no SALT cap allowed blue states to force red states to subsidize their high blue state taxes
The Supreme Court Monday rejected an appeal from several states challenging Congress's cap on state and local taxes that can be deducted from federal taxable income.

New York led a group including Connecticut, New Jersey, and Maryland in trying to strike down the 2017 limit known as the SALT cap, which limits people to $10,000 of their state and local property and income taxes that can be deducted. The states argued that the cap improperly encroached on states' taxing ability.

"Congress’s taxing authority (as set forth in Article I, Section 8 and the Sixteenth Amendment) is cabined by the structural requirements of federalism, which prevent the federal government from directly interfering with the States’ ability to generate revenue to sustain their operations," the states said in a March court filing. "The long history of federal income taxation demonstrates that Congress and the States equally understood that a deduction for all or nearly all state and local property and income taxes was constitutionally required to preserve state sovereign taxing authority."

The Supreme Court did not provide any explanation for declining to hear the case.

The SALT cap was passed by Congress during former President Donald Trump's administration, and the Biden administration continued to defend it as this case went on.

The current Democrat-controlled House passed a bill in 2021 that would temporarily raise the cap to $80,000 until 2031, when it would go back to $10,000. The Senate has yet to take action on the bill, although a separate plan in the Senate led by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., would cap the tax break by income, making it unlimited for individuals earning about $400,000 and phasing it down above that amount,. Republicans have criticized the bill, saying it would disproportionately benefit ultra-wealthy Americans in blue states.

The current SALT cap is set to expire after 2025.

#1  U.S. foreign policy and the conventional wisdom of the elite class was that if the West engaged with the CCP, it would become more liberal and less repressive of its own people, and it was this thinking that allowed the CCP to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) at the end of 2001.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall it should have been apparent that the best way to deal with China was the same way we dealt the the Soviet Union. But it seems a number of senators and corporate leaders were smelling money.

Oil From Biden's Emergency SPR Release Is Heading For Europe
[ZeroHedge] It appears that somehow the definition of emergency now includes making a profit at the expense of American consumers because sooner or later a real emergency will hit and then it will be too late, while easing the true energy emergency over in Europe.

According to Matt Smith, oil analyst at commodity data firm Kpler, this is the first export of SPR crude since last November. Which means the oil was apportioned from Biden's shock SPR release.

One wonders what is behind Biden's decision to make US emergency SPR oil available across the Atlantic; one can only hope that it doesn't mean that in the coming midterms mail in ballots will also be made available to Europeans...

#1  Either the SPR will eventually run dry as a metaphor for this entire administration or they are continuously replenishing the supply and the releases are just empty and false gestures … which would be another metaphor for this administration. If they are discovered to be simultaneously filling and emptying the reserve, the administration will argue that the policy is effective in lowering gas prices. Brian Stelter will back them up,
Posted by: Super Hose || 04/19/2022 12:29 Comments || Top||

#2  Oil is fungible. So the net effect of 1) sending oil to Europe, and 2) releasing oil from the SPR — or the other way round — gives rise to the shocking Zero Hedge headline. But I suspect the White House team has not made the connection between their two actions, as they aren’t nearly as intelligent as they fondly imagine.

BLM protester gets laid out by black police officer in Pennsylvania
[Right Scoop] A BLM protester in Pennsylvania yesterday got laid out by a black cop in Wilkinsburg after the radical group refused to comply with officers and began fighting with them.

These BLMers were trying to protest in the middle of the street, which is absolutely unlawful.

The one officer made that clear but the loud mouth girl in the video suggested to officers that BLMers had a right to protest anywhere they wanted.

The officers began to remove them by force and that’s when the protesters began resisting and fighting.

That’s when the magical moment happened and one of the black officers went all Will Smith and laid out the big girl with a punch to the face.

Couldn’t have happened to a more worthy perp. Watch the video for more...

D.C. Establishment Silent as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Wins Border Battle
[Breitbart] Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) launched and quickly won his border battle with four Mexican state governors – and the D.C. establishment is pretending the victory never happened.

“The governor [of Tamaulipas] will provide enhanced border security enforcement measures on the Mexico side of the border, both in ports of entry as well as along the Rio Grande River to prevent illegal immigration from Mexico into Texas,” Abbott said Friday as he ended the trade-blocking safety inspections of Mexican trucks into Texas.

“If those crossings resumed — or increase — it will signal the cartel-supported crossings have increased and that Texas must reinstate the more stringent vehicle-inspection standard,” he said.

“We are showing how border governors can lead the way on solving border problems,” Abbott said after using the threat of trade blockades to forge deals with four Mexican state governors.

“It remains to be seen how successful this effort of his will be, but clearly it’s an initial success,” responded Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. “It’s perplexing why there hasn’t been more real coverage of it … I’m not familiar with something of this scale happening before,” he added.

The Biden administration said little during Abbott’s border war, Krikorian noted.

Mexico’s federal government also said little.

“It is rather astonishing that a Mexican Prez … (who says to care a great deal about sovereignty) allowed Abbott to bully up individual Mexican state governors (by choking the US/MX supply chain) & forcing them to implement security measures,” said in a Friday tweet by a D.C.-based Mexican journalist, José Díaz Briseño.

On Monday, Mexico’s president briefly commented on the deals won by Texas. “Legally they can do it, but it’s a very despicable way to act,” said Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

Abbott’s coup “has received surprisingly little mass media coverage for being a state governor directly interfering with international trade policy,” a pro-migration media site said on Friday. “It’s no secret to anyone that Abbott’s got broader political ambitions,” the Border/Lines site added.

The U.S. corporate-run media reported Abbott’s win as an Abbott defeat — and played up business claims of massive economic damage in the United States — despite four Mexican governors signing anti-migration deals in exchange for easier truck traffic into Texas.

But Abbott played up his win on Friday, knowing that he helped himself in his gubernatorial re-election campaign and also boosted his national profile before the 2024 race:

Texas will not tolerate the endless stream of illegal immigrants crossing the border and we will increase our border security in light of President Biden’s decision to eliminate Title 42 expulsions. The ultimate way to end the clogged border is for President Biden to do his job and secure it. Until then, Texas will use its own strategies to secure the border.

“If there is not a slowdown in illegal immigration, there will be a reimplementation of 100 percent inspection of all commercial vehicles,” Abbott said, adding:

A consequence of that is financial pain, and that financial pain is necessary to get the public to insist that their government leaders — such as the presidents of the two countries involved — take the action that is needed to solve this problem.

China-Japan-Koreas
Don't Panic: China Rebrands Mounting Lockdowns as ‘Static Management'
[Breitbart] China’s ruling Communist Party strategically labeled expanding nationwide Chinese coronavirus restrictions over the weekend as “temporary controls of social activities” after some residents in certain affected cities, such as Xi’an, reportedly “panicked” after first learning of the restrictions, China’s state-run Global Times acknowledged Saturday.

The government of central China’s Xi’an on April 15 ordered all 13 million-plus residents of the city to observe “temporary controls of social activities” from April 16 through April 19 to contain a fresh local outbreak of the Chinese coronavirus. Xian’s municipal “anti-epidemic command center” issued a press release announcing the lockdown on the night of April 15, or mere hours before the restrictions went into effect starting at 12:01 am on April 16. The last-minute notice shocked many Xi’an residents and caused some to “panic,” according to the Global Times. The edict detailed how the city would assign local Communist Party monitors to stand guard outside Xi’an residential compounds during the lockdown and ensure no one escaped the buildings.

“[R]esidents are encouraged not to go outside their residential communities, with volunteers being deployed to register and take the temperature of those who come in and out,” the statement read.

Xi’an’s latest movement restrictions came as a surprise to many of the city’s residents, in part because the community had only just emerged from the admittedly “tough days” of a month-long Chinese coronavirus lockdown from December 2021 to January 2022, as acknowledged by the Communist Party-run Global Times on April 16.

Outside of Xi’an, at least eight other Chinese cities and counties have entered new Chinese coronavirus lockdowns over the past month. A separate article by the Global Times on April 17 attempted to paint the nationwide lockdowns as anything but, carefully categorizing affected residents as “under static management.”

“[U]nlike city lockdowns that cause massive standstills of work and life, the measures are specified and targeted at different local situations, trying to minimize the impact on people’s daily activities,” the newspaper claimed.

The publication named several Chinese communities that imposed lockdowns on their populaces in recent days, writing:

On Sunday [April 17], the main city of Wuhu, East China’s Anhui Province, temporarily implemented static management and launched nucleic acid testing for all residents in the city after one positive case was found on Saturday [April 16].

Shanghai’s Pudong and Jiading districts also issued notices on Friday [April 15] and Saturday [April 16] respectively to adopt the prevention and control measures of “static management of the whole region and nucleic acid testing of all personnel.

Also, cities and counties in Northwest China’s Qinghai Province, Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, and East China’s Jiangsu Province have issued the similar notice against the Omicron in recent days.

A Chinese coronavirus lockdown of all of Shanghai — which is China’s most densely-populated metropolis and home to nearly 26 million inhabitants — launched on April 5 and continued unabated at press time on Monday, April 18. The global financial hub’s movement restrictions have caused dire food shortages among the city’s residents, all of whom have been sealed off inside their homes for nearly two weeks.

US immigration officials detain more than 5,000 migrants from Ukraine in March
[FoxNews] CBP detained most of the Ukrainians at the U.S.-Mexico border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained more than 5,000 Ukrainians at U.S. land, sea and air borders in March, according to new data released Monday.

CBP reported a total of 5,071 Ukrainians detained last month. That represents a significant increase from the 1,146 who were detained in February. CBP detained most of the Ukrainians at the U.S.-Mexico border. The data shows that a total of 3,274 were detained at the southwest border, another major increase from the just 272 Ukrainians who were detained there in February.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Monday that the Biden administration is extending temporary protected status for Ukrainians for another 18 months. DHS said the designation will allow eligible Ukrainians to stay in the U.S. and apply for employment authorization.

President Biden has previously said the U.S. will welcome up to 100,000 Ukrainians and others fleeing the war with Russia.

The United Nations reports that more than 4.9 million people have fled Ukraine since the war began on February 24. Most of the Ukrainians have sought refuge in neighboring countries including Poland, Romania, Hungary and Moldova. The vast majority, nearly 2.8 million Ukrainian refugees, have sought safety in Poland.

Former Army Ranger discusses what he learned about racism in the military after 15 tours in Iraq, Afghanistan
[FOX] A retired Army Ranger said the military was a melting pot that already stamped out racist tendencies even before the Pentagon started launching initiatives.

The Department of Defense under Secretary Lloyd Austin has taken several steps aimed at eliminating extremism from the service and expanding equity. But extremism and racism aren’t issues within the ranks, since such beliefs are incompatible with unit cohesion – a necessary element for combat victory, the former Ranger, Jariko Denman, told Fox News.

"You as an individual are not important," he said. "The mission is important, and your teammates are important."

"You always put your teammate before yourself," Denman, who served 20 years in the Army, added.

Trump-Appointed Judge Deemed ‘Not Qualified' by Bar Association Voids Mask Mandate on Planes, Other Travel
[Rolling Stone] A Trump-appointed Federal judge in Florida has voided a national mask mandate for airplanes and other transportation. "Wearing a mask cleans nothing," U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle wrote in her decision on Monday. "At most, it traps virus droplets. But it neither ’sanitizes’ the person wearing the mask nor ’sanitizes’ the conveyance."

Mizelle, 35, was only eight years out of law school at University of Florida when Trump appointed her to the lifetime position in 2020. The Daily Beast noted at the time that her only trial experience was as an intern, and that she held four clerkships, including one for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Mizelle was rated "not qualified" by the American Bar Association prior to her appointment, citing her lack of experience.

The transportation mandate case on which Mizelle ruled was filed on behalf of a group known as Health Freedom Defense Fund, as well as airline passengers. Mizelle said that the Centers for Disease Control had exceeded its legal authority, that it had failed to justify its decision and follow comment protocols, and that the mandate was "arbitrary and capricious," according to The Washington Post. The CDC had announced earlier this month that it extended its mask mandate to May 3.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said it will no longer enforce the mask mandate in light of Mizelle’s decision, according to CNN.

The Biden administration was dismayed by the ruling. "This is obviously a disappointing decision," Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at a press briefing on Monday. "The CDC continues recommending wearing a mask in public transit."

Ilhan Omar gets blasted as a BIGOT after complaining about public displays of Christianity on Easter
[Right Scoop] Ilhan Omar whined about a video of Christians singing worship songs on an airplane yesterday on the biggest holy day in all of Christendom.

She did it by suggesting that her Muslim family would never be allowed to do the same thing:

Climate justice coalition NAZIS file criminal complaint against South Africa
[Aljazeera] Johannesburg, South Africa — A group of climate change organisations have filed criminal complaints against the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and a number of prominent cabinet ministers, accusing the government officials of "unlawful negligence" by failing to take "practical action to address the climate crisis."

The move comes as nearly 400 people have been reported dead in KwaZulu Natal province, where a subtropical storm, Issa, also destroyed buildings, highways and infrastructure.

In documents submitted to the South African Police Services on Thursday, the Climate Justice Charter Movement (CJCM) wants the government to be found guilty of "culpable homicide" for its acts of omission to "prevent further emissions and to protect the vulnerable from increased inequality and poverty."

CJCM, a coalition of several climate change activists and lobby groups from across the country, is arguing that the South African government is directly responsible for the deaths in KwaZulu Natal.

"We filed a criminal complaint in order to test the strength of our criminal justice system and our democracy," said Vishwas Satgar, the board chairperson of Co-operative and Policy Alternative Centre, a member of the CJCM alliance. "It is the cheaper route than a civil case, and we have galvanised support from legal persons all over the country who agree that it is time to link the climate crisis to the rule of the justice system."

People of color more likely to be harmed by pesticides, study finds
[Guardian] People of color and low-income communities are at disproportionate risk of pesticide exposure, a new study has found.

Roughly 90% of pesticide use in the US is in agriculture, making farmworkers — 83% of whom identify as Hispanic — more vulnerable to the synthetic chemicals intended to kill, repel or control pests.

"These workers somehow are seen as expendable," said Robert Bullard, a co-author of the report and the director of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University. "This study shows the systemic neglect that [led to] a whole workforce being an underclass and not given the same weight when it comes to health and safety."

The study reviewed CDC and EPA data, along with existing pesticide research, and found that structural injustices, gaps in regulation and weak farmworker protections have led to disproportionate exposure to pesticides among people of color. It was conducted by the Center for Biological Diversity; researchers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities; and advocates from farmworker, racial justice and conservation groups.

Twelve out of 14 markers for harmful pesticides, tracked over the past 20 years, were found in the blood and urine of Black and Mexican Americans at levels up to five times higher than those found in white Americans.

Pesticide safety laws in place today by the Environmental Protection Agency set standards for pesticide exposure among consumers through food, but they specifically exclude farmworker protection from occupational exposure. "Laws and regulatory practices that we have in place right now are really perpetuating this," said Nathan Donley, environmental health science director at the Center for Biological Diversity and co-author of the report.
Center for Biological Diversity is a leftist whackjob outfit.
Jeannie Economos, pesticide safety and environmental health project coordinator at the Farmworker Association of Florida, said: "We need to get rid of these pesticides and find alternatives. They’re not only poisoning farmworkers, they are in our groundwater, on our food, and depleting our soil."

Marginalized communities are at a higher rate of exposure both in the workplace and at home, whether due to proximity to a pesticide manufacturing plant or from use inside residences.

Illegal immigrants that make it across the dunes will be fitter than average and the ones that don't die from chemical exposure will be more resistant to pesticides. Sure, it would work. It is the same mechanism we use to create antibiotic-resistant microbes.

2 Palestinians shot in West Bank clashes with IDF; army says they attacked troops
[IsraelTimes] Two men said seriously maimed; military says they hurled explosives at soldiers amid festivities in town of Yamoun, near Jenin; gunfire also reported in area

Two Paleostinians were shot and seriously maimed during festivities with Israeli troops in the northern West Bank on Monday morning, Paleostinian health officials said.

A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces told The Times of Israel that the two men attempted to hurl bombs at troops who were conducting arrests in the town of Yamoun.

"Dozens of Paleostinians gathered in the area, hurled stones and threw explosives at the forces. The troops fired at suspects who tried to hurl explosives at them. Hits were identified," the spokesperson said.

Footage posted to social media purported to show the two men sprawled on the ground, as Israeli soldiers were seen in the background.

According to the Paleostinian Authority’s health ministry, the two men were taken to a hospital in the nearby city of Jenin.

No Israeli troops were hurt in the operation, the military spokesperson said.

The IDF later said in a statement that troops detained 11 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank overnight Sunday, including four who were suspected of attacking an Israeli man in the town of Husan last week.

Recent weeks have seen an uptick in military activity in the northern West Bank amid a spate of deadly attacks in Israel, some of whose perpetrators came from the area.

Americans Should Put A Stop To The 'Biomedical Security State': Dr. Aaron Kheriaty
[ZERO] During the COVID-19 pandemic, stringent measures such as mandatory masking, vaccination, and "quarantining healthy populations" have turned the United States into a "Biomedical Security State," Dr. Aaron Kheriaty told EpochTV’s "American Thought Leaders" program on April 9.

"This welding of public health with digital technologies of surveillance and control and the police powers of the state allows for intrusions on our privacy, on our bodily autonomy, that are unprecedented in history," said Kheriaty, a psychiatrist and medical ethicist.

Kheriaty, chief of medical ethics at the Unity Project and fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, added that a "probably north of 70 percent of Americans still got COVID in spite of almost a year of lockdowns," and that the lockdowns have essentially brought on "massive collateral damage" in the form of a mental health crisis.

He cited the pre-pandemic opioid crisis accounting for a total of 70,630 drug overdose deaths in 2019 in the United States, according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.) The lockdown has only "poured gasoline on [the] fire" of the existing drug overdose crisis, resulting in the skyrocketing of drug overdose deaths to over 100,000 last year, said Kheriaty.

An August 2021 study published on Pub Med found that "state lockdown policies precede greater mental health symptoms," and that many "non-heavy drinkers" turned to alcohol during lockdowns as a coping mechanism for "anxiety and depressive symptoms."

But given that it’s 988, analogous to 911 for local fire and police, I don’t see why the area code matters.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF says it struck Hamas weapons depot in Gaza in response to 1st rocket in 4 months
[IsraelTimes] Military reportedly doesn’t believe terror group launched rocket but says it holds enclave’s rulers responsible; no immediate reports of injuries or damages

The Israeli military struck targets in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip after midnight on Tuesday in response to a rocket fired from the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-controlled enclave hours earlier.

The rocket attack was the first in nearly four months, ending one of the longest periods of quiet on the Gaza border in years.

The Israeli military said in a statement that it bombed a number of targets, including a site used by Hamas to manufacture weapons. Hamas-affiliated media reported that the Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s targeted a site operated by Paleostinian factions west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Witnesses and security sources in the Gaza Strip reported no injuries from the air raid.

"The IDF considers Hamas responsible for what unfolds in the Gaza Strip," the army said.

Hamas front man Hazem Qassem sought to downplay the strikes."The Zionist bombing of some empty sites [is] a failed attempt
...Curses! Foiled again!...
to prevent our Paleostinian people from defending the city of Jerusalem," he said.

"Congratulations to the men of the resistance who confronted the fighter jets with our anti-aircraft defense," Qassem added, saying it had been the first time that Hamas had used the surface-to-air missile.

The pro-Hezbollah television network al-Mayadeen said Hamas used a SA-7 shoulder-fired missile, also known as a Strella.

The IDF did not mention any damage to its own aircraft during the strike.

An unnamed security source told the Kan public broadcaster the air force operates under the assumption that Hamas has anti-aircraft missiles and that the terror group has previously deployed them during Israeli strikes.

The rocket fired at southern Israel on Monday evening was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system. There were no reports of injuries as a result of the attack. The Eshkol regional council said there was no change in instructions for residents.

Following the rocket firing, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, and military chief Aviv Kohavi held a meeting to discuss a potential response, according to Hebrew-language media reports.

The attack came amid escalating Israeli-Paleostinian tensions, following festivities and violence in the Old City of Jerusalem, a series of deadly Paleostinian terror attacks and stepped up IDF activity against terror groups in the West Bank.

There was no immediate claim by any of the Gaza-based terror groups for the rocket fire. Paleostinian sources cited by the Kan public broadcaster and the Ynet news site said the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
was believed to be behind the attack.

After the rocket fire, Hamas reached out to Israel through Egyptian mediators in order to stress that it wasn’t interested in further escalation and had not been behind the attack, according to Kan.

In the past, Israel has responded with airstrikes against sites belonging to Gaza’s rulers, Hamas, regardless of the group launching the attack. More rarely, it has directed its response at Islamic Jihad, if the terror group grabbed credit. It is largely believed that Hamas has enough of a stronghold in the enclave that no rival group would fire at Israel without the ruling group’s tacit approval, at the very least.

The last time rockets were fired from the coastal enclave toward Israel was on January 1, 2022. At the time, no sirens sounded as the two rockets landed in the sea off the coast of Tel Aviv. Still, the IDF responded with a series of airstrikes against Hamas targets.

On Sunday afternoon, sirens sounded in the town of Nahal Oz, in what the IDF said was a false alarm.

The last few days have seen violent mostly peaceful festivities between Paleostinians and police on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, leading to the injury of dozens of Paleostinians and several coppers.

Hamas and other Gaza-based terror groups have repeatedly invoked the flashpoint holy site as a red line. Police actions to quell riots there last year were among the triggers of an 11-day war in Gaza last May.

Iraq
Turkey begins fresh offensive in Iraq
More on this story from yesterday.
[Dawn] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
on Monday said it has launched a new air and ground offensive against outlawed Kurdish bandidos gunnies in northern Iraq involving special forces and combat drones.

Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said commando units, unmanned aerial vehicles and attack helicopters were pounding Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) hideouts in three restive regions near the Ottoman Turkish border.

Designated as a terrorist group by Ankara and its Western allies, the PKK has been waging an insurgency against the Ottoman Turkish state since 1984 that has claimed tens of thousands of lives.

Turkey routinely carries out attacks in Iraq, where the PKK has bases and training camps in the Sinjar region and on the mountainous border with Turkey.

"Our heroic pilots successfully struck shelters, caves, tunnels and ammunition depots belonging to the terrorist organization," Akar said.

"A large number of bully boyz were neutralised," he said, adding that the scale of the operation will "further increase in the coming hours and days".

Akar would not say how many troops were involved in the operation, which he said started on Sunday night.

Asked to comment on Turkey’s operation, a PKK front man in Iraq said on condition of anonymity: "The occupation army, which tried to land troops by helicopters, also wanted to advance by land.

India-Pakistan
Showing firmness
[Dawn] THE inevitable has happened. Pakistain on Sunday condemned "Lions of Islam operating with impunity from Afghan soil to carry out activities in Pakistain".

This is the strongest possible public statement from Islamabad and a rebuke to the hard-line regime in Kabul, that has been conveniently looking the other way as the outlawed TTP continue to carry out ferocious attacks on Pak soil.

Pakistain’s demand for "stern’ Afghan action against the TTP comes amid reports of a significant increase in cross-border attacks. In the past week alone, the TTP carried out multiple attacks in North and South Wazoo districts and Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
, resulting in the martyrdom of several soldiers and coppers. There were also reports, originating from Kabul, that spoke of Pakistain launching retaliatory strikes on suspected TTP bases in Khost and Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
s, though neither the ISPR nor the Foreign Office has confirmed them. One report from Kabul, however, did mention Pakistain’s ambassador to Afghanistan having been summoned on the matter and given a démarche.

Islamabad’s condemnation of the increase in terrorist activities from across the border and Kabul’s protest over the alleged air strikes expose the friction between the two countries. Pakistain has been exercising maximum restraint since the Afghan Taliban
...Arabic for students...
took control of Kabul last August.

Contrary to their claims and Pakistain’s optimism that the new regime would not allow Afghan soil to be used against any country, there has been a sharp uptick in attacks, all originating from Afghanistan. According to official figures, 119 Pak officers and soldiers laid down their lives while battling the scourge from mid-August till last month. This is simply shocking.

For too long, the US-led Western bloc considered the Afghan Taliban to be proxies furthering Islamabad’s interests in Afghanistan. Indeed, there were many in Pakistain too who celebrated the ’Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s’ second ascension to power, including those who distanced themselves from the war on terror, saying it was not Pakistain’s war. This was despite warnings that the TTP and the Islamic Emirate were, in fact, two faces of the same coin.

With Pakistain’s casualties mounting in the renewed war against terrorism, that narrative has died down, or so it seems at the moment. Pakistain’s open and blunt condemnation, and its demand that the Afghan Taliban contain the TTP, is one such indication. There is, however, no sign from across the border that Kabul is paying heed.

It is time that Pakistain used all available diplomatic and economic resources at its disposal to make it absolutely plain to Kabul that it cannot get away with allowing Afghanistan’s territory to be used by bully boyz to spread terrorism in the region. The pressure on the Afghan Taliban must be increased. Afghanistan’s rulers must also be made to realise that they cannot absolve themselves of the responsibility of the attacks by asking Islamabad to engage with the Pak bully boyz based in Afghanistan.

As of 12:55 a.m. ET, Garowe Online had nothing on this story. Perhaps there will be something later.
[DW] A mortar attack interrupted a parliamentary session in Somalia as the newly elected politicians were meeting in the heavily fortified compound. Somalia is trying to complete the process of choosing a new president.

Newly elected deputies attend oath-taking ceremony after the parliamentary elections in Mogadishu, Somalia on April 14
Several people were left injured after a mortar attack struck the area around Somalia's parliamentary building on Monday just as newly elected politicians convened for only the second time.

Officials and witnesses reported that shells landed inside the heavily fortified compound, but that no politicians were hurt. The explosions were also heard over the live stream of Monday's lower house parliamentary session.

Al-Shabaab

"We have no details yet but these explosions were caused by mortar fire; the politicians were safe and unharmed inside the building when the incident occurred," a security officer who asked not to be named told the AFP news agency.

"I was in the area when the mortar shells landed outside the building where the parliamentarians were meeting; several people were maimed lightly in one of the blasts," another witness said.

The UN's mission to Somalia, UNSOM, tweeted its condemnation of Monday's mortar attack, saying it "wishes a speedy recovery for the injured, and stands firm with Somalis in their efforts to complete the electoral process and progress on national priorities."

SOMALIA'S COMPLEX ELECTORAL SYSTEM
The newly elected members of the Senate and the House of the People were sworn in on Thursday following elections that had been postponed for over a year.

Only 297 out of 329 seats were filled, but politicians pledged to move ahead with the electoral process that has been marred by a power struggle between the sitting president and prime minister.

The two houses of parliament will vote on their speakers later in the month, a necessary step before proceeding to the election of the country's new president.

Somalian elections follow a complex indirect mandate system where state legislatures and clan delegates choose politicians, who then choose the president.

Al-Shabaab claimed three attacks carried out last month that killed over 50 people, including Somali politician and outspoken government critic Amina Mohammed Abdi. They also claimed an attack last week onMogadishu's airport during a ceremony in which the new politicians officially took their seats in parliament. Nobody was injured, according to Europa Press.

[RT] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

The operation involves an extensive Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
campaign using jets, helicopters, and drones, as well as a ground incursion by commando troops, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced in a video address on Monday morning.

Ankara claims it successfully destroyed multiple bunkers, tunnels, and ammunition depots, as well as military headquarters of the PKK in northern Iraq’s border areas of Metina, Zap, and Avashin-Basyan, before ground forces moved into the neighboring state. It is unclear how many troops and military hardware are involved in the operation.

"Our operation is continuing successfully, as planned. The targets that were set for the first phase have been achieved," Akar said, as cited by AP.

Ottoman Turkish forces are only targeting "terrorists," taking extra precautions to avoid the loss of civilian lives and damage to cultural heritage sites, the minister claimed.

"Our struggle will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized," he said. "We are determined to save our noble nation from the terror misfortune that has plagued our country for 40 years."

ISIS vows 'revenge' over killing of ex-leader, calls for attacks in Europe

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) on Sunday vowed to seek "Dire Revenge" over the killing of its former leader and called on supporters to make the most of the war in Ukraine to resume attacks in Europe.

In an audio message believed to be by the group and circulated on Telegram channels affiliated to them, a new military campaign was announced to avenge the deaths of former leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quryishi and the group’s former spokesperson.

"We announce, relying on God, a blessed campaign to take Dire Revenge," AFP cited the group’s new front man, Abu Omar al-Muhajir as saying after offering supporters Ramadan greetings.

Muhajir then proceeded to talk about the current Russian-Ukrainian conflict, wishing for losses to be inflicted on both sides. He called on supporters to take advantage of "the opportunity available" of "crusaders fighting each other" and to stage attacks in Europe.

The audio message was the first communication by Muhajir since March 10 when he confirmed the death of al-Qurayshi, and named Abu Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi as the new leader, about whom little information is known. Muhajir himself is also a figure followers of the group are not familiar with.

Former ISIS leader Qurayshi went kaboom! during an overnight US special operations raid in the early hours of February 3 in Idlib, northwest Syria.

ISIS typically sends messages to followers during Ramadan to garner support.

The message came shortly after an Iraqi soldier was injured in a suspected ISIS attack in Salahaddin province.

Last week, Iraqi forces arrested an ISIS leader and several suspected members of the group. On Wednesday, Kurdish security forces announced the arrest of an ISIS leader believed to have executed two Peshmerga fighters.

Recent attacks have not been limited to Iraq and Syria. ISIS grabbed credit for a shooting attack in Hadera, north of Tel Aviv, killing two people and injuring six. The incident marked the group’s first claim of responsibility for an attack in Israel since 2017.

The group was declared territorially defeated in Iraq and Syria in 2017 and 2019 respectively, but it continues to carry out bombings, hit-and-run attacks, and abductions across several provinces. The terror group’s remnants are particularly active in parts of northern Iraq that are disputed between Erbil and Baghdad. In Syria, the terror group continues to launch deadly attacks from the Syrian desert, which extends from Damascus to the Iraqi border.

Turkey, PKK publish casualty figures for recent operation in Duhok
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) released their conflicting number of fatalities on Monday afternoon, hours after Ankara announced a new military operation targeting the mountainous regions of northern Duhok, sparking renewed fear among locals.

The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry claimed that 19 PKK fighters were neutralized in the first phase of the newly-launched operation, dubbed Claw-Lock, adding that four Ottoman Turkish soldiers were also injured.

The People’s Defense Forces (HPG), the armed wing of the PKK, stated that 28 Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed and nine others were maimed, reported media affiliated to the group, Roj News.

The new aerial and ground operation against suspected PKK positions in northern Duhok province was announced early on Monday, hours after Ottoman Turkish bombardment targeted Shiladze.

The fresh bombardment has sparked concern among locals that this could start a new wave of displacement.

"People are trying to abandon this region because they can see that bombs drop just one kilometer or two kilometers from their homes," Iqbal Omer, a resident of Shiladze, told Rudaw’s Ayub Nasri on Sunday.

According to data from the Shiladze administration authorities, only seven out of 92 villages are still inhabited. The rest have been abandoned due to the conflict between the PKK and Turkey over the past decades.

The constant state of conflict has caused fear among local civilians, particularly children. "I am a Peshmerga soldier, I can bear the noise and sound of bombs, but a 10-year-old child cannot bear the sound of these bombings," said Jaafar Ramazan, a Peshmerga soldier from Shiladze.

According to the International Crisis Group, 1,047 fatalities have been incurred in Iraq, including civilians, PKK fighters, and state security forces since 2015.

More than 500 villages have been emptied in the Kurdistan Region over three decades of the Turkey-PKK conflict.

Rojnews, another PKK-affiliated news outlet, claimed that the Iraqi army asked Ezidkhan Asayish to hand over the checkpoint but they refused, leading to armed festivities. Two civilians as well as a number of the members of both forces were maimed but their identities remain unclear.

The festivities took place late afternoon and lasted for a couple of hours. However,

The agreement has been rejected by the PKK and its proxies.

The Iraqi army has yet to comment on the fresh festivities.

Turkey launched a new military offensive against the PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region late last night. The PKK media claimed that the Iraqi army is supporting the operation by attacking PKK-affiliated forces in Shingal.

for being too slow to provide arms to Ukraine ahead of the invasion.

"This is going to get stronger and rougher," McCarthy said. "And what really needs to happen is, Ukraine is not asking for American men and women to fight. All they're asking for is the weapons to defend themselves. If we would have taken those actions earlier, instead of waiting until after Russia invaded, they probably never would have invaded had we done that sooner."

Pennsylvania police officer punches BLM protester after loud shouting match
[FoxNews] The protester was arrested and later released

Black Lives Matter protesters got into an altercation with police in Pittsburgh that ended with a black officer striking one of the protesters, according to images captured at the scene.
By doing so he made himself functionally white, according to the left wing of the Democratic Party and their totalitarian fellow travellers, regardless of actual melanin content or life experience.
A group of roughly 20 activists gathered to protest the death of Jim Rogers
...some homeless guy who got himself killed by the police, giving Antifa/BLM another excuse to run riot...
who died in the hospital after being tasered by eight police officers in October. Several officers from the Wilkinsburg Police Department and others soon arrived on the scene and declared the event an unlawful assembly, ordering the group to stop blocking the street.

When the group continued to ignore police orders, officers attempted to arrest one of the protesters. Another activist stepped between the arresting officer and the protester, leading to a violent scuffle in which the officer punched the intervening protester, who then fell to the ground.

Another officer with a police dog pushed protesters away as the first officer held the activist down.

It took less than five minutes from the moment police exited their vehicles for the scene to deteriorate. Police arrested both the first protester and the activist who attempted to intervene, though that individual was released later Saturday.

Pittsburg fired five of the eight officers who used tasers on Rogers, the city announced at the end of March. Rogers' death was ruled an accident, however, and the other three officers will remain in their posts.

The Wilkinsburg Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Far-right politician's threats to burn Quran sparks weekend of violence in Sweden
[NYPOST] A far-right Danish politician’s threat to burn the Koran and pour "pork blood" on it gave rise to riots in Sweden over the past few days.

Anti-Moslem and far-right political party Stram Kurs planned to hold a demonstration in the town of Landskrona, but announced a change of venue to the city of Malmo after protesters threw stones and set fires to cars, tires and garbage cans.

Kim Hild, a spokesperson for the police in southern Sweden, said that authorities would not revoke permission for the anti-Moslem demonstrations since they had not breached the threshold to deny free speech.

Sadistic killer who shot 18-year-old and filmed himself kicking her to death faces life
[NYPOST] A 22-year-old Michigan man has been found guilty of shooting an 18-year-old woman — and then recording himself kicking her for almost 11 minutes until she died.

Andrew Lafey shot Gracyn Brickley several times with a .22-caliber rifle behind a house on Guy Road in Maple Grove Township on Feb. 16, 2021, WILX reported.

The monster then used his phone to record a nearly 11-minute-long video of himself kicking and taunting her until she died.

He then buried Brickley’s body in snow and showed the brutal footage to his friends and his father — who turned him in to the police, according to the news outlet.

Lafey was convicted Friday of a slew of charges, including first-degree murder, which carries a maximum of life in prison without the possibility of parole, felony firearm possession and torture.

"We are pleased with the verdict and that justice for Grace Brickley and her family was served," the Barry County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Prosecutor Julie Nakfoor Pratt described the horrific crime.

"The Defendant video taped himself stomping on and taunting Grace Brickley for close to 11 minutes. The torture seen in the video came after Lafey shot Grace Brickley twice and inflicted multiple injuries to her face and breaking her jaw," she said, according to the outlet.

"Justice for Grace Brickley and her family was served," she added.

The sadistic killer is slated to be sentenced June 9.

Man launches apparent drug-fueled rampage on UES, injuring 4
[NYPOST] A man went on an apparent drug-fueled rampage on the Upper East Side on Monday morning, randomly attacking four people, cops said.

The 32-year-old suspect began his violent mostly peaceful spree just after 8 a.m., when he punched a man at East 96th Street and Second Avenue without provocation, authorities said.

The assailant then moved three blocks north to East 99th Street and Second Avenue, where he hit a man over the head with a bottle, shattering it, police said.

The suspect then used the bottle fragments to cut a woman at the same intersection, cops said.

His spree ended around 8:30 a.m. on East 92nd Street near York Avenue after he allegedly assaulted another man. Cops did not provide details on that attack.

The unidentified suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the fourth assault and brought to Metropolitan Hospital, apparently because of his intoxication, cops said.

Charges were still pending against him.

All of the male victims were also taken to Metropolitan Hospital and the female to Harlem Hospital. The victims were all reported to be in stable, pH balanced condition, police said.

DeSantis wants to keep 'feelz' out of math instruction in Florida schools
[NYPOST] Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis
...Republican governor of Florida, stone in the shoe of the Dems and their ilk, maybe one-day president...
wants to take feelings out of the equation.

DeSantis on Monday defended his education department’s rejection of math textbooks as part of an effort to eliminate social-emotional learning, a teaching philosophy that helps kids manage their feelings and show empathy for others, from the subject curriculum.

"Math is about getting the right answer. We want kids to learn to think so they get the right answer," DeSantis said at a presser in Jacksonville.

"It’s not about how you feel about the problem or to introduce some of these other things. There’s a right answer and there’s a wrong answer. And we want our students getting the right answer."

DeSantis said objective subjects like math should remain uncluttered by "political" content, such as social-emotional learning and Critical Race Theory

...teaches that skin color is the most important characteristic of any person, which translates to separate but equal with a different bunch in charge. All whites and Asians are born racist and racism permeates every aspect of society, which should be dismantled and the remains turned over to the kind of dipshit who pushes this nonsense...

PULO leader: Rebels won’t negotiate with Bangkok under Thai constitutional framework
[BenarNews] The leader of a separatist group sidelined from Deep South peace talks said Monday it would not take part in negotiations with Bangkok if independence is off the table.

The comments came days after the Patani United Liberation Organization carried out twin bombings that killed a villager and injured three police, disrupting a Ramadan-time truce agreed between the Thai government and Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN), the region’s main Death Eater group.

"PULO is ready to talk, but not under the framework of the Thai constitution," Kasturi Mahkota, the group’s leader, told BenarNews via text messages.

[RusOnline] The nationalists who settled at the Azovstal plant will be destroyed by thermobaric charges. This was reported by the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" with reference to its sources.

“As it became known, ground troops will not storm cellars with militants. The corridors there are narrow, they are stuffed with mines and are well shot through. Therefore, the entire area of the plant will first be smashed with FAB-3000 high-explosive aerial bombs, which will be dropped by Tu-22M3 long-range supersonic bombers.
Someone in Russia is gonna be in big trouble over this bit of legerdemain.
Such bombs will violate the integrity of the basement. And then they will start burning the enemy with thermobaric charges from the TOS-1A Solntsepek,” Komsomolskaya Pravda writes. It is noted that the system works on the principle of a flamethrower.

First, the projectile breaks through the ceiling and explodes in the room, which leads to the spraying of the thermobaric mixture.

After this, a second explosion occurs, from which the mixture ignites.

The fighting is in a bombed-out, post-apocalyptic factory complex - a great place to defend from. The defenders are surrounded with no hope of relief or resupply. A ground attack is suicidal. 'This cannot be real': Disbelief as Tucker Carlson tells men to undergo 'TESTICLE TANNING' in order to increase their testosterone in new doc about 'masculinity'
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • Carlson, 52, is currently gearing up to release a series of new documentaries for season two of his show, Tucker Carlson Originals

  • One of the episodes, entitled The End of Men, is set to focus on the 'total collapse of testosterone levels in American men'

  • But when the political commentator suggested that guys tan their private parts as a way to feel more manly, it left many people on the internet bewildered

  • He shared a preview for the upcoming docuseries last week - which showed a bunch of shirtless men participating in 'bizarre' activities

  • It contained a montage of half-naked guys wrestling, milking cows, shooting guns, chopping wood, taking an ice bath, and 'testicle tanning'

  • The video quickly went viral, and many people took to Twitter to troll Carlson - mocking him for the 'homoerotic' and 'outright weird' preview

  • Even though Carlson refers to it as 'testicle tanning' in the clip, the process that he is referring to is actually red light therapy

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Jen Psaki refuses to apologize for White House's debunked claim about Border Patrol ‘whipping' migrants
[FoxNews] The agents have been cleared of wrongdoing but remain on desk duty

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday refused to apologize for the White House’s now-debunked claim that Border Patrol agents were whipping Haitian migrants during a confrontation near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Images emerged in September of Border Patrol agents in Del Rio, Texas, showing agents on horseback blocking migrants from entering the U.S. and, in one case, grabbing onto a migrant’s shirt.

Many Democrats and media outlets falsely described the agents’ long reins, which they use to control their horses, as "whips."

Psaki at the time slammed what she called "brutal and inappropriate" behavior by Border Patrol agents.

"We understand and agree that this has been an incredibly heart-wrenching issue," Psaki said. "We’ve watched the photos of Haitians gathering under a bridge, many with families, and the horrific video of the CBP officers on horses using brutal and inappropriate measures against innocent people."

President Biden weighed in on the controversy, saying "those people will pay."

"There will be an investigation underway now and there will be consequences," Biden said at the time. "There will be consequences."

The agents have since been cleared in the investigation but have been on desk duty since the incident.

Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Psaki Monday afternoon when the president would apologize to the Border Patrol agents.

Psaki evaded the question, saying that the matter is being handled by the Department of Homeland Security and she could not provide any more updates.

When Doocy asked Psaki whether she would apologize, she said the investigation into the matter "would play out."

"Whenever it’s going to be announced, the Department of Homeland Security will announce that," Psaki said. "And then, I’m sure we’ll have a comment on it after that."

Government Corruption
New Benjamin lawyer floats same defense that helped de Blasio avoid indictment
[NYPOST] Disgraced ex-Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin showed up in court Monday with ex-Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserved him...
’s former defense lawyer — who immediately floated the same theory that helped get de Blasio off the hook in a "pay-to-play" corruption probe.

Barry Berke appeared to telegraph his planned strategy on behalf of Benjamin, who resigned last week following his indictment in an alleged bribery scheme involving more than $50,000 in illegal donations to his campaign committees.

"This is a very unusual political corruption case because the charges are based solely on political contributions and no personal benefits," Berke said during an appearance in Manhattan federal court.

in 2016, de Blasio was referred for investigation by the state Board of Elections, sparking state and federal probes into fundraising for his 2013 mayoral campaign, his controversial Campaign for One New York nonprofit and the 2014 state Senate elections.

The following year, then-acting Manhattan US Attorney Joon Kim said he’d decided not to file charges against de Blasio in part because of "the particular difficulty in proving criminal intent in corruption schemes where there is no evidence of personal profit."

Also during Tuesday’s court session, Judge Paul Oetken gave Benjamin permission to travel to New Jersey after Berke said that "he has family there" and prosecutors didn’t object.

Government Corruption
Looks Like John Durham Has Made a Decision on Trump Dossier Author Christopher Steele
[REDSTATE] There’s been a lot of big news over the last several months regarding John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax. The trial of Michael Sussman, who recently lost a bid to dismiss the case, is coming up shortly, and the most recent filing points to a wide range of targets for Durham.

Yet, there’s also something else buried in those revelations: It looks like Remington Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Trump Dossier, is going to get off scot-free.

In the filing, Durham has Steele listed as a witness. There is no indication Steele has taken the 5th Amendment nor that he has gotten an immunity deal. That would likely mean he’s a cooperating witness. Given Steele’s exposure, he wouldn’t agree to such an arrangement if the special counsel hadn’t told him that he will not be prosecuted.
What would being a stool pigeon do to his ability to sell such services in the future?
And as McAdoo Gordon points out in her subsequent commentary, the government can’t just falsely promise not to prosecute someone, garner testimony, and then change its mind. That’s how the Bill Cosby conviction got thrown out.

There is another possible explanation, but it doesn’t appear to fully add up. That is that Durham is looking to use old testimony from a lawsuit involving Steele in his current case. Yet, a prosecutor can’t just take testimony from another case and use it because they feel like it. Durham would need to show that Steele is unavailable now to testify on the specific matter, and there’s been no filing to that effect. In short, it’s possible (perhaps even probable) that Steele himself isn’t going to be called in the Sussmann case. But it’s unlikely even past testimony is used without Steele being assured he’s in the clear.

#1  Bringing Steele into the fray would likely highlight the potential involvement of MI6 and other intelligence entities. Appears Mr. Durham got the memo.

#2  All Kabuki theater. If anyone thinks something substantive will come of this they are fooling themselves.

#3  I could be wrong but it seems that all Steele did was some creative writing. It was those that passed it along, claiming it was real, that really broke the law.

#4  I think the MI6 alibi is accurate, and as Sundance at CTH has written, the Puppet Show, Obama 3.0, is happy to do Hillary and the Clinton Network underlings who don't have the Fail-Safe notebook protection. Second tier players who worked both sides of the demokrat sewage flow are probably safe.
Lesser Clinton apparatchiks and low-cash donors should be looking at travel, just not to Arkansas...

#5  all Steele did was some creative writing

He was paid a lot of money to do so, and was motivated in his inventions by his hatred of President Trump. From The Telegraph:

Secret memo on FBI states British spy was desperate to stop Donald Trump getting elected
2 February 2018
Donald Trump has approved the release of the memo
A former British spy behind a dossier of lurid claims against Donald Trump admitted he was “desperate” to stop him becoming US president, it was alleged on Friday.

Christopher Steele told a US justice official before the 2016 election that he was “passionate” about stopping Mr Trump winning, according to a newly released memo.

Republicans held up the comment as proof the former MI6 agent had “ideological motivations” against Mr Trump that throw into question the reliability of his evidence.
Posted by: trailing wife || 04/19/2022 18:04 Comments || Top||

#6  I have doubts about Steele's "ideological" motivations. He was a businessman and espionage agent. His motivation was likely
related to future contracts and money making.
Posted by: Besoeker || 04/19/2022 18:35 Comments || Top||

#7  I don't care about his motives. Stephen King hates Trump, that wouldn't make a novel about Trump being a monster illegal. It's what was done with the dossier that was actually illegal.
Posted by: ruprecht || 04/19/2022 21:54 Comments || Top||

#8  Novels are supposed to be untrue, ruprecht. What Mr. Steele was claiming to sell was verified true facts about Mr. Trump and members of his team that would be useful to his opponents: Hillary Clinton and the Deep State. Mr. Steele engaged in blatant fraud; and while possibly that fraud is not Mr. Durham’s concern as a special prosecutor, that fraud was the basis of everything that followed.

And the Secret Service does investigate the writers of novels, plays, etc. about Democratic presidents like Barack Obama being monsters or being assassinated, while ignoring those written about Republican presidents. I agree with the principle of freedom of speech, but it should be applied equally to both parties.

Twitter employees slam 'a—hole' Elon Musk, ask whether he's manipulating stock
[NYPOST] Most Twitter employees don’t think Elon Musk has the company’s best interests in mind, with some calling him an "a—hole" and questioning whether he is "pumping and dumping" the company’s stock, according to a new survey.

A whopping 68% of Twitter employees disapprove of Musk’s Musk’s tweets about company strategy, which have included musings about potentially eliminating ads and making Twitter a paid service, the poll shows.

An even greater 78% say he doesn’t have "the best interests of Twitter and its shareholders" in mind when he makes such posts, according to a survey of verified Twitter employees conducted by corporate message board Blind and shared with The Post on Monday.

"Don’t want him as CEO," one employee wrote. "He has no compassion."

"I’m not convinced he’s in the best place mentally," another employee said.

A third labeled him a "dangerously insane oligarch."

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Irene was indignant at the thought of doing such a thing without benefit of clergy...
a slim majority — 52% — say it’s better that Musk isn’t joining the company’s board, the poll shows. More than two-thirds of the 232 Twitter employees surveyed also said they disapprove of Musk’s tweets about company strategy, which have included musings about potentially eliminating ads and making Twitter a paid service.

"Elon’s vision and Twitter don’t align," one employee wrote.

Others questioned whether Musk’s purchase of a 9.2% stake in Twitter, which contributed to its stock surging about 25% earlier this month, was all part of a "pump and dump scheme" that could see the mogul make billions by selling his shares at a premium.

"He’s either just pumping and dumping or [has] no plan," another Twitter employee said.

Despite the fury toward Musk, Twitter employees also appear to be unhappy with the company’s board and Parag Agrawal, who succeeded founder Jack Dorsey as CEO in November.

Agrawal initially said Musk would join Twitter’s board, saying he would bring "great value" to the boardroom. Days later, Agrawal said Musk was not joining Twitter’s board after all. Then Musk mounted a bid for Twitter, prompting the company’s board to fight back with a "poison pill" defensive maneuver on Friday.

A whopping 69% of surveyed employees said the CEO and board have done a "poor" job handling the confrontations with Musk.

-War on Police-
ABC's Scott Admits Dems Don't Talk About Defund The Police Anymore
[NEWSBUSTERS.ORG] During This Week’s "Powerhouse Roundtable" discussion on the soaring crime rates in major American cities and what should be done about it, there seemed to be agreement that the Democrats’ "defund the police" agenda is dead. Anchor George Stephanopoulos then turned to panelist and ABC congressional correspondent Rachel Scott and asked: "you don't hear defund the police too much on Capitol Hill, anymore?"

Scott confidently replied, "No, not at all, actually" and aside from the "handful of progressives over in the House" that want to defund the police, there hasn’t been a peep from Democrat politicians about that wildly unpopular agenda.

She also observed that both President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Joe's wife and daughter weren't killed by a drunk driver. He didn't graduate with three or even two degrees, wasn't in the top half of his law class, and his daddy didn't come home from a hard day's work in the mines and play football with the guys. The NAACP hasn't endorsed him every time he's run. On the other hand, he did abandon Afghanistan...
and House Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
(D-CA) have admitted defunding the police isn’t a message they even believe, and "Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
...Senator-for-life from New York, renowned for his love of standing in front of cameras and microphones. Schumer has been a professional politician since 1975, when disco was in flower, which is 46.36754 years, or 324.57277999999997 years in dog years. Senate minority leader as of 2017...
has come out and said this is not our message. This is not what we're campaigning on ahead of the midterms."

To make matters worse for the leftists who support defunding the police, Scott pointed out that even New York City "Mayor [Eric] Adams just pointed out there was funding within that Build Back Better plan to actually help coppers."

J-20 fighter jet starts routine training patrols in East, South China Seas

[GlobalTimes] The J-20, China's most powerful, domestically developed stealth fighter jet, has started to patrol the East China Sea and the South China Sea in routine training sessions, and experts said on Wednesday that the move will enable the advanced warplane to better safeguard China's airspace security and maritime interests.

With the J-20 switching to use domestically developed engines, it has become a training routine that this type of aircraft conducts combat patrols in the East China Sea and alert patrols in the South China Sea, Ren Yukun, head of the discipline inspection and supervision team and a member of the leading Party group at state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) (the J-20's manufacturer), said at a presser on Tuesday.

Ren's announcement came after General Kenneth Wilsbach, Commander of the US Pacific Air Forces, said in mid-March that US F-35 stealth fighter jets recently had a close contact with China's J-20 stealth fighter jets over the East China Sea.

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force shoulders the sacred duty of defending national security in China's airspace. It must be emphasized that when it comes to defending national illusory sovereignty and security, the PLA will always be ready and capable of wielding its sword, said Senior Colonel Wu Qian, a spokesperson at China's Ministry of National Defense, at a regular presser on March 31, when asked to comment on Wilsbach's remarks.

Florida rejects 41% of submitted math books over CRT, other issues
[FoxNews] The Florida Department of Education rejected textbooks, saying they include language that violates the state standards.

The Florida Department of Education is rejecting more than 40% of the mathematics textbooks submitted to be used in the upcoming school year, citing critical race theory, Common Core and other language included in them that violate the state's new standards.

"Reasons for rejecting textbooks included references to Critical Race Theory (CRT), inclusions of Common Core, and the unsolicited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics," the department said in a news release.

After reviewing 132 submitted textbooks, the department found 54 of them – 41% – were in violation of the state's standards.

"The highest number of books rejected were for grade levels K-5, where an alarming 71 percent were not appropriately aligned with Florida standards or included prohibited topics and unsolicited strategies," the department said.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a statement that the rejected books included language that attempts to indoctrinate students.

“It seems that some publishers attempted to slap a coat of paint on an old house built on the foundation of Common Core, and indoctrinating concepts like race essentialism, especially, bizarrely, for elementary school students,” DeSantis said. “I’m grateful that Commissioner [Richard] Corcoran and his team at the Department have conducted such a thorough vetting of these textbooks to ensure they comply with the law.”

In 2021, the department sought bids for mathematics instructional materials to be included on the state’s adopted list.

"Florida has been clear that instructional materials must first and foremost be aligned to Florida’s new B.E.S.T. Standards," the department announcement said. The department "proactively informed publishers in June 2021 that textbooks must align to the B.E.S.T. Standards, state laws regarding required instruction, and that they should not incorporate unsolicited strategies such as SEL in their instructional materials."

In 2019, DeSantis signed an executive order to eliminate Common Core standards in the state. This year, he signed legislation that bans classroom curriculum that includes teaching gender identity or sexual orientation to students in grades K-3.

"Despite rejecting 41 percent of materials submitted, every core mathematics course and grade is covered with at least one textbook," the department said.

Defund NYPD group says police 'failed' after subway attack, offer 'holistic' alternative
[FoxNews] The Democratic Socialists of America chapter argues 'police presence neither prevented nor deterred' the Brooklyn subway shooting
They’re the political arm of the communists. Of course they want to reduce the number of bourgeois, law-abiding, law-enforcing police in service of the status quo, removing a key barrier to their militant arm overthrowing the government.
The New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America slammed Mayor Eric Adams for the "bloated" police presence within the city’s subway system that did not stop the Tuesday shooting in Brooklyn.

"Since Mayor Adams assumed office, police have maintained a bloated presence in our subways — including at the 36th Street Station where yesterday’s shooting took place: and now, he is cynically doubling down on this policy," NYC-DSA said in a statement Wednesday.

"That police presence neither prevented nor deterred the attack, and failed to prevent the perpetrator from fleeing the scene. The solution to a violent society is a peaceful society, and peace requires material security," the statement from NYC-DSA’s spokeswoman Sumathy Kumar continued.

The statement was released shortly after Adams confirmed the arrest of Frank James, the man accused of opening fire on a busy Brooklyn subway Tuesday morning, the New York Post reported. He injured 29 people, including 10 who suffered gunshot wounds, according to police.

Subway assaults peaked to the highest levels in 25 years in 2021. Adams unveiled plans earlier this year to curb the crimes within the subway system, including increasing police presence and preventing homeless people from sheltering in the system.

To avoid bureaucratic infighting erupting into messy public squabbles the bean counters divided the Budget Pie into thirds -- the Air Force gets a third, the Army gets a third and the Navy gets a third (roughly). The NYC subway shooter, despite disordered thoughts, bears responsibility for his crimes
[NYPOST] In the near week since Frank James’ alleged Brooklyn subway attack, it’s become accepted wisdom that New York City’s or America’s social services system failed him — and us. Yet no one has shown any way in which social services could have stopped this attack. What we have is what it looks like: a bad guy who intelligently planned and executed a bad thing.

After the mass shooting, City Councilwoman Alexa Avilés and Assemblywoman Marcela Mitaynes, who represent Sunset Park, said that it showed how "we need investments in social services — housing, healthcare and education." Politico wondered "What Brooklyn’s subway shooting reveals about the state of mental health care."

So far? Nothing.

Teen accused of killing Bronx girl with 'ghost gun' to be tried in supreme court
[NYPOST] The Bronx teen accused of killing a 16-year-old girl with a "ghost gun" will be tried in supreme court, not in family court as a juvenile, a judge has ruled — ensuring more prison time if there’s a conviction.

Jeremiah Ryan, 17 — who is facing murder, attempted-murder and gun charges in the April 8 bystander shooting of Angellyh Yambo near University Prep Charter HS — would have faced up to only five years in prison if convicted in family court.

But Bronx Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
Justice Naita Semaj ruled Thursday that Ryan will be tried in grown-up court — although as an adolescent offender as required by law because of his age.

That means Ryan, who had no prior criminal record, will still get more lenient treatment if convicted — but at least he’ll face a maximum of 15 years to life in prison on just the second-degree murder charge if found guilty. If he were 18, he could have faced 25 years to life behind bars.

Russia-Ukraine war: Sanctions cripple Russia's tank production - GUR
More on this story from a few days ago.
[Jpost] Sanctions have stopped production of the T-14 Armata, Russia's widely anticipated next-generation tank, which was expected to start serial production and delivery this year.

Russia is struggling to produce more tanks for its military due to crippling financial sanctions and import restrictions imposed on Moscow due to the invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Intelligence Directorate (GUR) claimed on Friday.

The Russian firm UralVagonZavod, located in Nizhny Tagil in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, is the world's largest main battle tank manufacturer and has a long history dating back to Josef Stalin's second five-year plan. Since then, it continues to produce tanks, such as the T-90, T-72 and T-14 Armata.

Despite having revenue in the billions of dollars, sanctions have crippled the company's ability to produce tanks. This is due to rising interest rates on loans, lack of funds for foreign currency loans and rising material prices, including for steel.

According to the GUR, production of T-72s has significantly slowed while production of T-90s and T-14 Armatas has completely stopped.

This latter stoppage is particularly significant, as the T-14 Armatas are Russia's next-generation tank and were expected to begin serial production and delivery this year, according to TASS. This tank also sparked concerns among the West due to its technological advances, such as heavier armor; unmanned turret; touchscreen controls and built-in instant messaging system linked to other T-14 Armatas and newer T-90 models; and software aimed to cover Russian tanks' traditional weakness of night fighting by autonomously tracking several targets.

According to a 2016 report by Business Insider, NATO commanders feared it could jeopardize their standing in Eastern Europe and threaten the security of the Baltics. It even inspired Germany and France to work together to develop a new main ground combat system to combat the advanced T-14 Armata.

This struggle also further compounds the losses Russia has suffered in its invasion of Ukraine, which has seen them lose 773 tanks so far, according to the Ukrainian military.

Reports of Russia struggling with production issues due to sanctions is not new since the invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.

Earlier in April, the GUR reported that some Russian shipyards are unable to construct warships or conduct maintenance on vessels due to financial hardships and a lack of foreign components.

In particular, a Vladivostok shipyard was allegedly unable to meet 25 billion rubles worth of government orders to build two tankers, two missile boasts, and to maintain and repair other vessels.

"It is obvious that the Russian military-industrial complex remains dependent on imported high technologies," wrote GUR at the time "Without the supply of which Russia is unable to continue production of modern weapons."

Despite these setbacks, however, Russia by far still has a massive army with considerable supplies of vehicles, with a 2021 Global Firepower annual ranking pointing at them having the largest number of tanks in the world by far.

Further, a recent Russian Defense Ministry report claims that Russian troops are actually capturing Ukrainian tanks and restoring them to fighting condition.

#1  Sanctions have stopped production of the T-14 Armata, Russia's widely anticipated next-generation tank, which was expected to start serial production and delivery this year.

...Production never really got started on the Armata. At BEST, fewer than a hundred have been built, and the best way to describe them is hand-built prototypes, not production vehicles. None have been reported in Ukraine yet, which, given the supposed capabilities of the tank, is a little...curious.

Ibrahim X. Kendi: Pubs the party of white supremacy
What else could he possibly say?
[NYPOST] Boston University’s controversial "antiracist" professor, Ibram X. Kendi, has bluntly branded Republicans "the party of white supremacy
...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. A Dead White European (which invalidates his opinion) philosopher once opined that societies thrive when a person's word can be relied upon, and that a society which puts individual happiness first will invariably fail. Strangely enough, other successful societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and those kinds of places could also be lumped with white supremacist societies, since they push the same values...
The "How to Be an Antiracist" author insisted in an op-ed for The Atlantic that the GOP has used "dog whistles" to brand itself as the "party of parents," dismissing that as a "myth, a great myth."

"The foundational assumption of this great myth is that Republican politicians care about white children," claimed Kendi, who runs Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research.

"But if they did, then they would not be ignoring or downplaying or defending or bolstering the principal racial threat facing white youth today" — that of "white children being indoctrinated" into white supremacy online, "causing them to hate," he wrote in Saturday’s op-ed.

Kendi described white supremacist ideology as "the toxic blend of racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, and anti-Semitic ideas that is harmful to all minds."

"Which group is the prime target of white supremacists? White youth," he wrote.

The woke professor then plugged his upcoming book, "How to Raise an Antiracist," while insisting that such anti-racist education "protects white children — all children — against the growing threat of white supremacists."

Col Douglas Macgregor Discusses Current Status of Conflict in Ukraine
[ConservativeTreehouse] While no media have a good track record of outlining the conflict in Ukraine, retired Col. Douglas Macgregor has the most consistent perspective that reconciles what little factual information is visible with the reality on the ground.

In this recent interview, Macgregor notes the Russian operation is currently focused on securing the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine, where fighting has been taking place since 2014. During an earlier interview on CNN, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy noted the largest and most experienced elements of the Ukrainian army are located in this region. According to Zelenskyy, approximately 44,000 Ukrainian troops are there; oddly, Zelenskyy seemed to concede that he has no control over what’s happening there.

During this segment, Macgregor notes the current Russian objective is to encircle those eastern Ukraine forces, cut them off from western supply lines, and then slowly and methodically eliminate them – while separating them from Russian speaking citizens in the region. Macgregor notes a particular concern once those Ukraine forces are eliminated. WATCH:
