Could have happened under Obama/Biden, but Obama must have been too busy beachfront property shopping and trying to hook up with Interesting Italians who speak that dirty, dirty Austrian.

Posturing. It would not have passed in the majority-Democrat House anyway, nor with enough votes in the Senate to override a presidential veto — which would assuredly have followed. Besides, the country is divided enough on the issue that establishing a national law on the subject would have caused as much dissent and disputation as Obamacare did.
[BrownstoneInstitute] In the last week, some of the top spokespeople for lockdowns, and all that is associated with that policy of pathogenic control, have come out to defend them plus threatening more now that we are seeing seasonal increases in cases.
It’s almost as if they have learned nothing.
They certainly haven’t admitted error – Bill Gates will never do that – despite all the carnage all around us. It includes not only destroyed businesses and educational losses but also inflation, goods shortages, weakened financial markets, broken supply chains, social and political conflict, and countless broken lives.
All of this traces to lockdowns, a policy advocated and enforced by specific people, mostly powerful and highly paid intellectuals, and amplified by the media.
They say that no one could have known. Not so. Drs. Bhattacharya, Kulldorff, Gupta, Atlas, Tenenbaum, Risch, McCullough, Urso, Dara, Wolf, Oskoui, Ladapo and other contrarians such as Jeffrey Tucker, Ivor Cummings, and Paul Joseph Watson, and many other writers at Brownstone, were right on the devastation and failures of COVID lockdowns.
We wrote nearly two years now clamoring against the devastation that would come from societal lockdowns and school closures. We wrote extensively on the ineffectiveness of masks (references 1, 2, 3, 4) and the accrued harms, especially for children, yet were ridiculed and dismissed by the media and the medical establishment. We reported on the catastrophic effects of COVID lockdowns on children, yet were dismissed and canceled.
We felt that it was lockdown lunacy when we could have used an age-risk stratified ‘focused’ protection approach (Great Barrington Declaration), with strong protections of the vulnerable high-risk in our societies first, while allowing the rest of the lower-risk healthy and well in society (younger persons) to live largely normal lives with unfettered tampering by governments. We even added the need for vitamin D supplementation, body weight control, and the use of early outpatient treatment, but were scoffed at and dismissed as heretics. We were ridiculed, slandered, and smeared, despite evidence of the vicious societal costs from lockdowns and the near 500 studies and pieces of evidence that show the failures and harms from lockdowns and school closures.
It was stupefying to us skeptics and contrarians as to why governments, whose primary roles are to protect their citizens, were taking such draconian and punitive actions despite the compelling evidence (that was available and accumulated one month after the pandemic onset) that the restrictive policies were misdirected and very harmful; causing palpable harm to human welfare on so many levels. It was tantamount to insanity what governments did to their populations and largely based on no scientific footing.

And between increased demand due to deferred treatment and decreased supply due to early retirements it now takes 6 months for get most non-emergency medical care around here. Thanks, Covideers.

[gaodawei] In a now-censored [article], Gao Yusheng, former PRC Ambassador to the Ukraine, explains why Russia is losing the war in Ukraine and the effect that may have on the international order.
[YouTube] Lend-lease was one of the pivotal factors in the second world war. It was a mechanism by which the United States shipped tremendous quantities of everything from boots to bullets in order to keep Britain, the USSR, and the other allies in the fight.
On May 9th, President Biden signed an Act bearing the lend-lease name into law, taking on the authority to loan defence articles (that's a fancy way of saying militarily useful stuff) to Ukraine.
Journalists across the internet have been quick to herald the Act as a game changer, one which will fundamentally transforms the flow of assistance to Kyiv.
I'm not so sure.
In this video, I look at what the modern lend-lease Act actually does, assess its significance, and then focus on some of the lesser known, and altogether less dramatic mechanisms that are being used to authorize the ever growing flow of US money and weapons supporting Ukraine. Great breakdown of the American aid packages to Ukraine

An arsenal but not a democracy ….
They leave the dead bodies to leave the ukrainian families with ‘missing in action’, therefore unable these families to grieve the dead and overall in order not to pay the families for the ‘dead heroes’. That is the ukrainian way, canon folder for the fools and billions of dollars for the corrupted. Slava corrupted mafia state of Ukraine.

Eh? The article was posted by DarthVader, an entirely different gentleman.
[YouTube] How do we get to a world without Russian President Vladimir Putin?
The reality is that there's no easy path to get there, despite what some US Senators or leaders within the European Union might want. There has been a near constant stream of chatter from elected officials, talking heads, and regular citizens asking why (or, in some cases, pleading) Russia's cabal of oligarchs don't simply... eliminate Putin from the equation.
I'll save you from the messier details of how some plans would go, but history is rife with examples of palace coups that remove this or that blundering leader. Russia is not likely to be one of those places.
For one, Russia's oligarchs derive their legitimacy and ability to operate (read: plunder) directly from Putin. Oligarchs may have their own relatively small patronage systems, but they don't have the support of the Russian people. Which brings us to a more important point: the Russian military, intelligence services, and Russian people are still largely supportive of Putin.
While this may change, this is something we can't gloss over. There is still considerable institutional support around Putin. And while less critical, there is the very important fact that the current stock of oligarchs range from inept, to incredibly corrupt, to cowardly, to reviled. And these are their good points.
Whatever Putin is, he's not stupid. And none of the individuals he handpicked to develop (read: plunder) the Russian state's industries and resources was someone who could one day mount a reasonable challenge to his authority.
[IsraelTimes] Shelling reportedly targets area near Hader, north of Quneitra; unverified report claims 4 missiles launched from jet
A site in southern Syria was damaged in an Israeli missile attack in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, Syrian state media reported.
The attack targeted an area near the town of Hader, north of Quneitra in the Syrian Golan Heights, just across the border from Israel, according to the state-run SANA news agency.
There were no reports of injuries, but material damage was caused, SANA reported.
There was no immediate word on what sites were hit.
A Twitter account tracking Israeli military activity in Syria claimed four missiles were launched from a warplane, causing damage to the area.
Video purportedly from the strike shared by the same account and showed projectiles streaking through the sky, followed by loud explosions.
There was no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces, which does not normally comment on individual strikes.
Israel has carried out hundreds of sorties over Syria in the last decade, mostly to stymie attempts by Iranian forces to transfer weapons or establish a foothold. On Saturday, Syria said unidentified jets struck in Deir Ezzor, one of several areas where Iranian militiamen are thought to be deployed, though several local media reports said that strike was believed to have been conducted by the US-led coalition operating in the area, not Israel.
In the past, strikes on areas closer to the Israel border in the Syrian Golan have targeted specific individuals suspected of plotting attacks against Israel or in the midst of carrying them out.
In February, Israel allegedly bombed an observation post and “finance building” in the Quneitra area. The military also dropped leaflets over the area warning Syrian regulars that they would be targeted if they allowed Iranian proxy group Hezbollah to operate in the region.
The flyer directly named the Hezbollah official that the IDF believes is facilitating the relationship between the terror group and the Syrian military, Jawad Hasham, the son of Hajj Hasham, who leads Hezbollah’s efforts along the Syrian border.
The flyer said Syrian soldiers “repeatedly” allowed Hajj Jawad Hashem “to breach the infrastructure of the Syrian army, including… in the finance building and Rwihinah base,” where the overnight strikes took place.
“Those who cooperate with Hezbollah… are targets,” it warned.
Similar flyers were also reportedly found in the area last week; however, it was not clear when they were dropped.
Israeli strikes have continued in Syrian airspace, which is largely controlled by Russia, even as ties with Moscow have deteriorated in recent weeks. Israel has found itself at odds with Russia as it has increasingly supported Ukraine, while seeking to maintain freedom of movement in Syria’s skies.
[IsraelTimes] Israel has revoked the entry permits of over 1,100 Paleostinians whose relatives were involved in terror attacks, including several recent deadly assaults, security officials tell Hebrew media.
"Any Paleostinian who thinks of choosing the way of terror should know that the attack he commits will fatally harm his family," an official is quoted as saying.
[ToloNews] Acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani ...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network.... at a gathering for reconciliation between the Haqqani family and a tribe in the Garda-Serai district of Paktia called for the resolution of disputes through negotiation.
Many tribal elders gathered to reconcile a feud between the Haqqani family and Sori Khail tribe after more than 60 years of hostility.
"We made an agreement today in which we will turn such hostilities into friendships. After that we will go to Pashtun-infested Logar, Kabul, Shinwari, and eastern areas and will solve such hostilities," he said.
"Such steps will be taken in regard to the traditional taboos such as killing someone else instead of the killer," said Anas Haqqani, a senior member of the Islamic Emirate. "We will try to seek forgiveness for the killers but if it doesn’t happen, another person should not be killed instead of the killer. The old hostilities remain from the ancestors, it should not make trouble for the rest of the families."
According to the residents, several decades ago a member of the Sori Khail tribe was killed in a dispute with the family of Haqqani.
"My wish from the people and nation is to forgive each other as we did," said Ahmad Khan, a relative of the person who was killed several years ago by the Haqqani family.
Haqqani said he respects the outcome of the gathering made by the tribal elders.
However, it was a brave man who first ate an oyster... both sides reconciled and hugged each other after a decision made by the elders in the gathering.
"We urge all tribes to resolve all types of disputes that happened among them. It should be eliminated. We will launch the convoy of peace from here," said Mawlawi Abdullah, governor of Paktika ...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo... .
[ToloNews] The Islamic Emirate said it will discuss with American officials the fate of helicopters designated for Afghanistan but given to the Ukraine by the US.
Earlier, SIGAR reported that 16 Mi-17 helicopters and 17 other pieces of military equipment which the US allocated for Afghanistan were given to Ukraine.
According to SIGAR, On January 19, DOD notified Congress that it intended to transfer five U.S.-procured former Afghan Mi-17 helicopters that had been undergoing maintenance in Ukraine to the Ukrainian government. Ukraine accepted these excess defense articles on March 11, 2022.
"In mid-April, President Joe Biden ...... 46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem machine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family, the guy who bungled Afghanistan...... announced a military assistance package to Ukraine that included an additional 11 Mi-17 helicopters that had been scheduled for Afghanistan," SIGAR said in a recent report. "DOD also transferred nearly 16 million rounds of varied nonstandard munitions, originally procured for Afghanistan, to Ukraine."
Analysts believe that the lack of recognition of the current Afghan government could be one of the obstacles for the US to hand over the aircraft to Afghanistan.
"There is a legal aspect--the Islamic Emirate has yet to be recognized by the US and other countries, therefore, the Americans believe that if they had a deal, it was with the former government. So, until the legitimacy of Islamic Emirate is solved, handing over Afghanistan’s property to the Islamic Emirate will face challenges," said Javid Javid, a political analyst.
However, some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves... the Islamic Emirate said it will negotiate with the US officials to retake the helicopters.
"First of all, the traitors are those who fled with these helicopters from Afghanistan. Second, we are talking about the fate of them with the Americans and with the country’s where our helicopters are present. We are trying to bring the Afghanistan property back to Afghanistan," Islamic Emirate’s front man, Zabiullah Mujahid, said.
Earlier, the Islamic Emirate said more than 40 aircraft had been flown to neighboring countries of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan after the fall of the former government. The Islamic Emirate called on the countries to hand over these aircrafts to Afghanistan.

[KhaamaPress] A handful of women in Kabul have staged demonstrations in response to the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... ’s decision to "make hijab mandatory," with Talibs allegedly dispersing protesters and detaining journalists.
At the protest today on Tuesday, protesters chanted "The burqa is not our hijab" and "Afghan women in the Taliban’s grip — the Afghan people in need a mouthful of bread," three days after the Taliban decreed "the hijab mandatory."
They erupted into the streets with the slogan "Bread, Work, and Freedom," claiming that their rallies were a continuation of Afghan women’s protests.
The demonstration began at the Ansari square of Shahr-e-Naw and continued just outside of the Ministry of Interior, where the Taliban surrounded them and detained journalists, according to Zhulia Parsi, one of the protesting girls.
The journalists have been detained, according to Zhulia Parsi, and she has no idea where they are being held. "The Taliban snatched the girls’ smartphones and took them away," she claimed.
Taliban forces reportedly ripped down the banners and dispersed the protesters, according to Zhulia.
The Taliban wanted to take the women inside the ministry and force them to confess, Zhulia Parsi told the news hounds.
The Taliban released an order to make hijab mandatory three days ago, which sparked massive national and international outrage.

With respect to “measure” I think we can rule out invasion. Maybe we tariff burka exports or block their imports of HUMVEE parts. I think we can rule out the most logical measure: don’t recognize them or give them any money.

[KhaamaPress] Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has announced that one of the power poles that was recently entirely demolished by unknown people has been repaired.
In a newsletter published on Tuesday, 10th May, DABS stated that work on repairing the second electricity pole is also progressing quickly.
Due to the demolition of two imported electrical outlets by unknown individuals in the Salang area of Parwan province two weeks ago, electricity was shut off in Kabul and 11 other provinces.
DABS is attempting to fix the power poles in Kabul and the regions for the second time because unidentified people blow them up.
Electricity will be supplied to Kabul and the provinces once the second power line is completed, and it is worth noting that the repair of these substations has cost more than a hundred thousand dollars.
[ToloNews] Thousands of children were provided with teachers and other educational resources in the province of Pashtun-infested Logar, the provincial educational department said.
Many children in the rural areas of the province are deprived of education.
"We have 400 classrooms and we have appointed 400 teachers in all provinces of Pashtun-infested Logar," said Mawlawi Janat Gul Aziz, head of the provincial department of education.
The classes are being supported by UNICEF in cooperation with IRC.
"The period of the classes taught in the villages is nine months each year and the period of quick classes is six months (twice each year)," said Mohammad Alam Ghalib, head of Wadan organization.
Meanwhile, ...back at the pond, the radioactive tadpoles grown into frogs. Really big frogs, in fact... the students are happy about their classes but called for further facilities in the education area.
The classes are being taught on the local level until grade three.
"Our teacher teaches Islamic lessons. He teaches us Pashto and math," said Marriam a student. A LOT of Islamic lessons, not so much Pashto and math
"I was not interested in the school. When the school began here, I became happy and thanked them," said Noorzia, a student.
The residents of Pashtun-infested Logar said that many children are deprived of schooling due to lack of access.
"There was war previously. Many children couldn’t go to school. All of them have been deprived of an education," said Mohammad Jamshid, Zarinzoi.
Meanwhile, ...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache... the Resistance® Front claimed that many civilians have been targeted by the Islamic Emirate in Andarab district of Baghlan.
The Islamic Emirate denied the civilian casualties.
"50 forces of the opponents put down their weapons and surrendered to the Islamic Emirate in the mountains of Abshar district and also 60 other individuals in the mountains of Dara district of Panjshir surrendered to the Islamic Emirate," said Abubakar Sediqqi, a front man for the governor of Panjshir province.
Earlier, Panjshir officials said that at least 5 forces of the Islamic Emirate had been killed and two others maimed in festivities in Dara district of the province.
The Resistance® Front claimed Islamic Emirate forces targeted civilians in Qassan village in Andarab district of Baghlan province.
Salahuddin Rabbani, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, said he is concerned by the reports of civilian casualties in Panjshir province and Qasan village of Andarab district in Baghlan.
Analysts said that the parties involved in the fighting must uphold human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... "The involved parties in the war should consider human rights and prevent civilian casualties," said Hamid Azizi Mujadidi, a university instructor.
5 Islamic Emirate Troops Killed in Panjshir Clash: Local Official 9 May
[ToloNws] At least five members of Islamic Emirate forces were killed and two were wounded in a clash that took place on Friday in Dara district of central Panjshir province, local officials said on Monday.
A spokesman for the provincial governor’s office, Abubakar Sedeqqi, said that 5,000 troops are stationed in Panjshir following the clash.
Earlier, the provincial governor's spokesman told TOLOnews that six Islamic Emirate Force troops had died in the clashes.
“Less than five people were killed and two others were wounded. They were evacuated to the hospital and the martyrs were sent to their provinces. The claims made by the opponents of the Islamic Emirate are absolutely untrue,” he said.
Reports of clashes between the forces of the Islamic Emirate and the Resistance Front have been posted on social media over the past several days.
The Panjshir governor’s spokesman said at least 10 fighters of the Resistance Front were killed in the clash.
He also said the situation is under control.
“We are present in many areas of Dara, and Abshar and as well as in many areas of Andarab,” said Sibghatullah Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Resistance Front.
Meanwhile, the Resistance Front also confirmed six of its fighters were killed and claimed it has control over some parts of Dara and Abshar districts of Panjshir.
However, the Resistance Front claimed it had inflicted heavy casualties on the Islamic Emirate’s forces.
“These claims are untrue. There was some gunfire from the mountains. We have taken steps to suppress them,” said Abdul Hameed Khurasani, commander of the Nasir Badri troops.
This comes as videos are circulating on social media apparently showing members of the Resistance Front detained by the Islamic Emirate as well as forces of the Islamic Emirate detained by the Resistance Front in Panshir, but the videos have yet to be confirmed.
“Hostilities had grown in Dara district, but a small-scale damage had been done to Taliban troops, including the destruction of three vehicles and the injury of three members,” Abu Bakr Siddiqui, spokesman for the Taliban governor in Panjshir province, told the media today, 9th May.
Six Taliban were captured and seven Taliban tanks were entirely destroyed, according to the spokesperson for NRF.
While the spokesman for the NRF claims that the Taliban are under pressure in Panjshir and have suffered casualties, a Taliban spokesman for the province claims that their “operation” to clear members of the NRF in the AbdullahKhel village has forced them to flee to the mountains.
However, public sources in Panjshir province state that two military helicopters evacuated all Taliban bodies and wounded to Kabul yesterday.
The bodies taken to Kabul were also said to have been returned to the provinces, according to the media.
Videos have also surfaced on social media saying that the Taliban abused residents after defeating the National Resistance Front and inflicted high fatalities.
The Taliban have yet to respond, and tensions in Panjshir appear to have escalated.
[Dawn] "MUSLIM women are not worried," according to a spokesperson of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. This characterisation of Moslem women’s feelings stems from the new rules issued by the Taliban ...Arabic for students... regime on Saturday mandating a face covering for all Afghan women. Afghan women must now wear the burqa that covers them entirely, with only their eyes exposed, or they can wear an abaya, along with a hijab, and a face veil.
The Taliban’s latest edict on the burqa could be a last-ditch effort to create a controversy and get some international attention.
Warnings will be issued to the male guardians of those who do not comply, after which they could face jail time if their women relations still refuse to submit to the Taliban’s diktat. Women babus government employees not wearing the face covering would be sacked, while male employees with women family members who defied the injunction would be suspended from their jobs, if they actually have one.

[ToloNews] Even though women's driving licenses have been suspended in Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... province, some women and girls are driving freely in Herat city.
Shiama Wafa is one of dozens of female drivers in Herat. she is a journalist and it has been over ten years that she has been driving. She says that she goes out of her house every day with her car and there are no restrictions for her.
"It is very pleasing and helpful for me that I have the talent and ability to take care of my work and go to work in my own car," Shiama Wafa told TOLOnews.
According to Wafa, driving in a traditional city like Herat has not been easy for women and girls.
"It has been many years since we have been allowed to do the same as men who drive and solve their problems," Shima added.
Since the political change in the country, driving education and the distribution of driving licenses to women and girls in Herat have stopped. Herat Traffic Management said it is waiting for the order of the General Directorate of Traffic to resume driving licenses for women.
"In the early days, we distributed several licenses (driver's licenses) to those who applied for in the previous government, But in this government, we did not have any courses for women, and this is suspended until the next order," said Omid Muntaqem, the director of Herat Traffic Management.
But local officials in Herat said there are still no restrictions on women and girls driving in the province.
"If sometimes some issues arise due to lack of information, no high-level official letter has been sent about it and nothing has been said about this issue so far," said Naeem al-Haq Haqqani, Herat's director of information and culture.
The presence of women drivers in recent years in the city of Herat has become more prominent. Although Herat is a traditional city, there has been no serious opposition to the driving of women and girls.
[Breitbart] CLAIM: Tucker Carlson’s claim that white South African farmers are being singled out is a "far-right" conspiracy theory.
VERDICT: MOSTLY FALSE. While Carlson exaggerated, the New York Times’ attempted debunking is simply wrong.
In 2018, Tucker Carlson devoted a segment of his show on Fox News to reporting on the murders of white farmers in South Africa. Some of his reporting was alarmist, but the underlying problem is a real one, as many South Africans acknowledge.
Carlson’s report provoked then-President Donald Trump to tweet in response, creating one of his customary news cycles, with establishment media outlets accusing Carlson of fanning the flames of racial outrage. But as Breitbart News reported at the time, Julius Malema, the head of South Africa’s radical Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), responded that Trump was right about his intention, and that of others in South Africa, to expropriate land without compensation from white farmers.
There are essentially two land issues in South Africa. One concerns the restitution of land seized from black South Africans under apartheid. The other concerns the unequal racial distribution of land overall, including land owned by white farmers.
These two issues have been handled separately. While few black South Africans have shown an active interest in becoming commercial farmers, the unequal distribution of land remains a political flashpoint and a reminder of lingering inequalities.

There are essentially two land issues in South Africa. One concerns the restitution of land seized from black South Africans under apartheid. The other concerns the unequal racial distribution of land overall, including land owned by white farmers.
A false issue supporting a desired outcome.
The problem goes far beyond land and property ownership. Notice how politics, the courts, education, employment, and the military are conveniently not mentioned. Sound at all familiar ?
#2
White farmers are bailing with the expectation of their farms and equipment being seized without compensation. Once the farms are seized they are redistributed to family members of people in power without regard to farming experience. Food production usually ceases on those farms. With the engineered food shortage on the horizon the most likely forecast is dead people - a lot of them.

"The combination of accurate hits on the one hand and more frequent cases of destruction of residential areas on the other will give a media, and therefore a psychological picture of mass missile terror. It, in turn, will give rise to the effect of the inability of the ZSU to resist the enemy in this regard and will push hysterical breakdowns in the public mind ", - Arestovich writes and urges not to succumb to "zrada", since the effect of a missile war is designed precisely for this.

[Aljazeera] Russian President Vladimir Putin is still looking to achieve military objectives beyond eastern Ukraine after failing to capture Kyiv in the early stages of the war, the US intelligence chief has said.
Speaking to US lawmakers on Tuesday, Avril Haines, the US director of national intelligence, said the shifting of Russian military operations to Ukraine’s Donbas region in the east is only temporary.
"We assess President Putin is preparing for a prolonged conflict in Ukraine during which he still intends to achieve goals beyond the Donbas," Haines said.
"We assess that Putin’s strategic goals have probably not changed, suggesting he regards the decision in late March to refocus Russian forces on the Donbas is only a temporary shift to regain the initiative after the Russian military’s failure to capture Kyiv."
Haines said US intelligence has assessed that Putin wants to expand territory across the Black Sea coast possibly to Transnistria, a breakaway region of Moldova backed by Russia. Such a move would help Russia secure water supplies to Crimea, which it captured and annexed in 2014, and potentially deny Ukraine access to the sea.

No shit, Sherlock. The prize has always been the land bridge connecting the South with the East. Which Russia now has.
Any intelligent policy would entail forcing the US puppet regime to go back to Minsk II... Except now Russia controls Azov and the Black Sea coast.
Had the Biden Administration not goaded this little prick into reversing his pro-peace position -- the one that got him ejected in the first place -- this whole mess could have been avoided. So now we're on the brink of WWIII, Ukraine has been trashed, and Russia has achieved its #1 strategic objective. Brilliant.
#4
correction: "the one that got him elected in the first place"
(It was Right Sector and the other fascists who tried to "eject" Zelensky. This is one reason he did a 180 and began provoking Russia with insane talk about "taking back" Crimea and joining NATO.)

The war was Putin's choice. I dislike Biden as well, but stop trying to make him into a puppet master.

Biden is an ass puppet. And Putie-pie has been playing rope-a-dope with our presidents since W and closing those invasion corridors. Ukraine was supposed to be easy and he could really build up to take the Baltics.
#7
At the rate he's going, Pootie will be lucky to hang onto the Donbas puppet states. And the RuAF are going to wrecked for a decade, regardless of the outcome.

From a practical standpoint, we shouldn't care if Putin makes Russia the perfect fortress, beyond anything we can learn about doing the same here.

My current understanding is:
1- Anything Putin succeeds at was a critical part of the original plan.
2- Anything Putin fails at -- like this genius river crossing -- was a feint, a diversion, or never part of the original plan.
So Putin remains a master strategist regardless of events. It's sort of like a new math test in which any answer is acceptable.

^^^ I think that makes great sense. America is a dumpster fire economically and culturally. Enemies foreign and domestic are wreaking havoc on norms and institutions they haven't infiltrated, and the Covid passivity taught many of our fellow citizens is paralyzing the natural American urge to stand up, confront the BS and say "Enough!" across a wide spectrum of American daily life.
Retrenchment, re-industrialization, economic and monetary stability, political/cultural/media realignment to traditional American values and policies, a hemispheric re-look at the Value of Monroe Doctrine 2.0, and realigning our entire educational/cultural focus to assimilation, not diversity as a normative process to blend the enormous shadow presence of illegals here now. Separation from the foreign messes that are consuming our federal government might be a good thing for all. The children who play at world leadership and are profligate with borrowed money to pose as world police while the house burns down has got to stop.
Let the Chinese burn themselves out as the world sees their Sino-centricity as cancerous, and the Russians find a way back to membership in Western civilization post-Putin. We have nearly broken th greatest experiment in human political history. Our unique successes in the 20th century have grow generations of those so accustomed to plenty, privilege and power they have no idea how fragile a gift they inherited or how quickly it is breaking from lack of maintenance or even understanding it's genius.

[PJMEDIA] INews, an independent news source in the UK, is reporting that a network of former Soviet sanatoriums and other sites in regions including Siberia, the Caucasus, the Arctic Circle, and the Far East, are housing Ukrainians forcibly removed from their homeland. Some of the camps are up to 5,500 miles from Ukraine.
The sites are known as Temporary Accommodation Points (TAP). The Russians call them fil’tratsiia, or filtration camps.
Moscow had ordered towns and cities across Russia to prepare for the arrival of nearly 100,000 "refugees." The Russian government now claims it has "evacuated" one million people from the war zone. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in April that 500,000 Ukrainians had been sent to Russia.
It seems clear that there are hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians from areas occupied by the Russian army who aren’t in Ukraine anymore.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Egyptian boys practicing to be that extra special kind of Egyptian man.
A video surfaced on social media showing teenagers harassing female tourists
The young women were visiting the Giza Pyramids in the Egyptian capital Cairo
The boys jeer at the women and some press close to them as they try to get away
According to a statement from the prosecutor's office, the arrested boys are between 13 and 15 years old. The statement did not provide any details on the women tourists.
If charged, the boys will be tried before a juvenile court.
Visitors to the Pyramids at Giza and other famous archaeological sites in Egypt are routinely approached and followed by young men offering tours, souvenirs, carriage or camel rides.
The problem of sexual harassment in Egypt gained worldwide attention during and after the 2011 uprising that toppled president Hosni Mubarak, when women were harassed, groped - and in some cases, beaten and sexually assaulted - during mass anti-government protests.
In recent years, women inspired by the #MeToo movement have spoken out on social media about the problem.
Authorities have increased penalties for sexual harassment, which is now punishable with up to five years in prison.
They have also intensified efforts to combat harassment and aggressive touts at tourist sites.
[NYPOST] Every time I think Prince Harry couldn’t possibly make himself look more cringeworthy, up he pops to prove me spectacularly, eye-rollingly wrong. The renegade royal’s latest howler is a laugh-out-loud tourism commercial he’s made for New Zealand television to promote his sustainable eco-travel nonprofit organization, Travalyst.
Sadly, the laughter was once again at him, not with him.
Wearing a "Girl Dad" T-shirt, Harry is seen jogging through the woods before he’s stopped by eco-tourist "rating agents" and berated about a lollipop wrapper he supposedly dropped there during a 2018 royal tour trip with wife Meghan, but praised for turning off running tap water while he brushes his teeth.
That revelation prompted a bewildered Harry to exclaim: "How do you know that? That’s really weird."
Because, of course, he’s such a private guy and that’s secret personal information that could only be known if he’d turned into a Kardashian with 24/7 cameras recording his every ablution and tooth-cleansing.
Oh, wait, he has!
Harry and Meghan have become the royal Kardashians, only a slightly trashier version if that was even possible: a pair of shameless chancers whose only thought each day is how to fleece and exploit their royal titles ever more cynically, while simultaneously trashing the royal family and monarchy to which they owe their status — and playing the downtrodden, oppressed victims from their $11 million Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, mansion.
The hypocrisy in everything they do is breathtaking, and never better illustrated than with Harry’s latest preaching about "sustainable eco-travel."
He loves self-righteously barking at us all about the urgent need to save the planet by reducing our carbon footprint, as he uses private jets like we use taxis.
Just as he and Meghan pleaded for us to think about poverty on Twitter on the very same day she was throwing a $500,000 baby shower in New York (and hopping back to London on George Clooney’s plane).
But it’s their constant bleating about privacy that most sticks in the craw given their decision to accept a reported $115 million payment from Netflix to trail around after them with cameras, capturing their most "private" moments for the delectation of the public.

It's really too bad about Harry. I used to admire him - he was in combat in Afghanistan, and then became an attach helicopter pilot. Sure he was a little wild - but if you're good looking, filthy rich, and a royal - who wouldn't be?
Then Meghan got ahold of him.

There’s at least one in every generation of the British royal family. In the previous generation it was Prince Andrew. When Queen Victoria was merely the princess royal it was all of the royal dukes, as I recall.
[BenarNews] Recent satellite imagery shows that China is continuing to actively develop its facilities on the disputed Subi Reef in the South China Sea, two months after a top U.S. commander said Beijing had "fully militarized" it.
Simularity Inc., a U.S. geospatial intelligence company, said that an analysis of satellite imagery from May 5 has revealed new structures and seven active construction sites on Subi, the coral reef occupied by China since 1988 but also claimed by the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.
In March, the U.S. Indo-Pacific commander Adm. John C. Aquilino said that the construction of missile arsenals, aircraft hangars, radar systems and other military facilities at Subi Reef, as well as Mischief Reef and Fiery Cross "appeared to have been completed."
Subi is one of several major bases that China built during a massive dredging and artificial island-building campaign in the Spratlys that began in 2013, creating 3,200 acres of new land and giving it a new strategic foothold in the South China Sea.
In its natural state, Subi is what is known as a low-tide elevation and an international tribunal in 2016 ruled that as it is submerged at high tide, Subi is not an island but considered "sea bed" and the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC’s) constructions on the reef are illegal. China rejected the ruling.
Until now, China has reclaimed 976 acres on Subi, according to the Asia Maritime Initiative (AMTI) at the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies.
The seven active construction sites are located in the northern and southern parts of the reef, with visible presence of trucks, construction equipment and material, Simularity said.
"A significant amount of sand" is seen at the sites, indicating new roads and structures are being built. At one site in the south, there are new walls and parking lots, Simularity said, without drawing further conclusions about the possible function of the sites under construction.
EXTENSIVE DEVELOPMENT
Subi (Zamora in the Philippines) Reef lies just 12 nautical miles from the Philippine-administered Thitu Island, which is the second largest natural feature in the Spratlys after Taiping (Itu Aba) Island, occupied by Taiwan.
China has developed it into a military base that can accommodate a garrison of 200 troops and a helipad, according to Philippine officials.
AMTI says there are a number of important structures on Subi, including a large lighthouse, five hangers that each can accommodate 20 combat aircraft, and an over 3,000-meter airstrip, completed in early 2016.
Aquilino said in March that the function of China’s artificial islands is "to expand the offensive capability of the PRC ... They can fly fighters, bombers plus all those offensive capabilities of missile systems."
"They threaten all nations who operate in the vicinity and all the international sea and airspace," he added.
China’s Civil Aviation Authority said it successfully tested a civilian flight on Subi in July 2016, using a Boeing 737 airplane, "further enhancing its capability to provide public services as a responsible player in the region."
The Philippines and Vietnam both protested against the test flight which is not known to have become regularly scheduled.

China is turning inward. it has the critical mass for a self sustaining domestic economy as long as Russia is their partner for energy. The trio with India makes the entire region from the Mediterranean Sea to the Solomon Islands (and Australia if they want to turn chinese, LOL ) the perfect world for an economy. That's why the original silk road developed organically thousands of years ago. The need for resources to build stuff makes the even more sense for the new silk road. ACA JOE[1] is a clothing line for men, women, boys and girls that originated in Acapulco in the 1970s.[2] By. 1978, ACA JOE was well established as a clothing retailer, with over 75 stores in various cities throughout Mexico, including: Acapulco, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, and Mexico City.[3] ACA JOE specializes in well-designed cotton clothing inspired by the beach lifestyle of Acapulco.[4]
Joseph Rank, a Los Angeles clothing designer, is the founder and owner of ACA JOE. The company's major growth came after Rank teamed with Harry R. Kraatz and William A. Meyer, in the early 1980s to take over the Inmar Corporation. Inmar's retail outlets were transformed into ACA JOE stores and the company name was changed to ACA JOE INTERNATIONAL.
In the mid-1980s, there were more than 100 ACA JOE stores around the U.S., and the company's stock was the fastest rising stock on Nasdaq in 1985. The company's stock was deleted from the Nasdaq over-the-counter trading system on April 1, 1988, because of the company's failure to meet Nasdaq's capital and surplus requirements.[5]
In the 1990s, ACA JOE focused on its market in Mexico and was sold in over 35 shopping center and beach stores and featured in the Palacio de Hierro department stores. In the 2000s (decade), ACA JOE was sold in the Liverpool department stores and Costco in Mexico.
Since 2007, ACA JOE has been exclusively sold through La Comercial Mexicana and Soriana in Mexico. The logo was designed by Mexican American artist Joe Vera.[6]

[Rudaw] A Belgian court on Tuesday dismissed the appeals of three Iranians accused of plotting a thwarted kaboom in Gay Paree in 2018 and sentenced one of them to an extra three years in prison, according to Belgian media.
Assadollah Assadi, 50, Mehrdad Arefani, 58, Amir Saadouni, 41, and Nasimeh Naami, 37, were arrested in June 2018, accused of being involved in an attempted bombing at an anti-Iranian regime rally in Gay Paree. The four were handed judgements of varying prison sentences by a Belgian court in 2021.
Arefani, Saadouni, and Naami filed appeals, claiming to have been coerced and threatened into participating in the attack; Assadi has not yet filed an appeal. They previously identified Assadi as their "longtime handler," while the latter claimed not to know them.
Their appeal was rejected by the court, keeping Naami’s sentence at 18 years, Arefani’s at 17, and increasing Saadouni’s sentence from 15 to 18. All three also had their Belgian citizenship revoked, Belgian media reported.
"The court finds the allegation by Saadouni and Naami that they assumed that the explosives would only cause noise and fireworks to be implausible," the Antwerp-based Dutch newspaper De Morgen cited the court as saying. "Everything was meticulously prepared beforehand and the modus operandi to be used was also discussed in detail," it continued.
Assadi, sentenced to 20 years in prison, is an Iranian diplomat widely believed to be the criminal mastermind behind the thwarted attack. Iran ...They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... has condemned the verdict, and made efforts to secure his release.
"The Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the announcement by a court in Antwerp, Belgium, according to which Mr. Assadollah Assadi... was sentenced to 20 years in prison," foreign ministry front man Saeed Khatibzadeh commented after Assadi’s verdict was announced in February 2021.
Iran had warned even before the conviction that it would not recognise the trial or the verdict, denying any official role in the plot and insisting Assadi ought to have enjoyed immunity from prosecution.

[IsraelTimes] Questioned on fires at Russian factories and fuel depots, Zelensky adviser notes Israel doesn’t acknowledge covert attacks and liquidations.
A deadly fire at an aerospace research institute in Tver, northwest of Moscow. Another blaze at a munitions factory in Perm, more than 1,100 kilometers (680 miles) to the east. And fires in two separate oil depots in Bryansk, near Belarus.
Coincidences, or a sign that Ukrainians or their supporters are mounting a campaign of sabotage inside Russia to punish Moscow for invading their country?
Since the blaze at the Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Forces in Tver on April 21, which killed at least 17 people, social media has leapt on every report of a fire somewhere in Russia — especially at a sensitive location — as a sign that the country is under covert attack.
No one is claiming responsibility, but analysts say at least some of the incidents, particularly those in Bryansk, point to a possible effort by Kyiv to bring the war to the invaders.
In a post on Telegram, Mykhaylo Podolyak, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, called the fires "divine intervention."
"Large fuel depots periodically burn... for different reasons," he wrote. "Karma is a cruel thing."
‘WE DON’T DENY’
In a massive country such as Russia, a fire at a remote factory or building would normally not be particularly eyebrow-raising.
But since Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24, more than a dozen blazes noted by people who document the war have drawn huge attention on social media, amid fears there is a concerted campaign of arson terror by the Ukrainians.
Even fires late last month in Russia’s far east — at an airbase north of Vladivostok and at a coal plant on Sakhalin — raised suspicions.
And on Wednesday, a massive conflagration struck a chemical plant in Dzerzhinsk, east of Moscow.
"Russian saboteurs against Putin continue their heroic work," said Igor Sushko, a Ukrainian racecar driver who regularly posts photos and videos on Twitter of alleged acts of sabotage inside Russia — but offers no proof they were deliberate.
Another Zelensky adviser, Oleksei Arestovych, was equally opaque to The New York Times
... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... , noting that Israel never admits its covert attacks and liquidations.
"We don’t confirm, and we don’t deny," he said.
PART OF THE STRATEGY?
War analysts believe the infernos in Bryansk, which hit facilities sending oil to Europe, were deliberate and tied to the war.
The anonymous analysts behind "Ukraine Weapons Tracker," a Twitter account that posts detailed accounts with supporting videos of attacks by both sides, said they had received "reliable" information that the Bryansk fires were the result of attacks by Ukrainian Bayraktar drones.
"If accurate, then this story again shows the ability of Ukrainian forces to conduct strikes in Russian territory using long-range assets," they wrote.
"I think it was probably a Ukrainian attack, but we cannot be certain," Rob Lee, another war analyst, told The Guardian.
Added to that have been a number of apparent shellings by helicopters and drones and evident acts of sabotage against infrastructure in Kursk and Belgorod Oblast on the Ukrainian border, close to the fighting.
The governors of Belgorod and Kursk have both blamed the fires and destruction of infrastructure such as railway bridges on saboteurs and attackers from Ukraine.
An April 1 attack on a Belgorod fuel depot, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on his Telegram channel, was the result of "an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... from two helicopters of the armed forces of Ukraine, which entered the territory of Russia at a low altitude."
"Nothing that would confirm Ukrainian sabotage, except for the fact that many of the fires seemed to hit strategic/military targets," said Phillips O’Brien, professor of strategic studies at the University of St Andrews, Scotland.
Such attacks "certainly seem to be a part of their strategy," he said.
Pentagon officials have said that Russian forces inside Ukraine are hobbled by weak supply chains, and attacks on their infrastructure would further affect their war effort.
But US officials would not comment on whether, deeper inside Russia, there is an active campaign of sabotage hitting targets not-so-directly related to the invasion.

The poor bastards are scouring the internet looking for any accident that they can call Ukraine attack against Russia.
That could be — we’ve discussed it here. Bad habits when storing things that can explode or catch fire too often leads to things exploding or catching fire spontaneously, a problem throughout the Muslim Middle East as well as Russia. Just think of the damage to the port of Beirut and the city beyond, just because they stored 2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate incorrectly for some half decade.
But as Napoléon said, in war the morale to the matériel is as three to one (or possibly ten to one — I’ve seen it quoted both ways). If silly people are willing to ascribe all sorts of accidents to the actions of annoyed Ukrainians, merely because the Ukrainians say neither yay nor nay, perhaps it will hurry all parties toward ceasing warlike actions before more harm is done to all involved.
Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on Tuesday that the current political atmosphere is not in favor of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... , and that "We will witness major political changes in the upcoming period."
This came during a panel discussion on Afrin which was held in Aleppo northern countryside under the title "Afrin between the Ottoman Turkish Occupation and International Interests" on Tuesday and will last for two days.
The panel was attended by 90 representatives of organizations and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), as well as independent personalities, most of who participated virtually via Zoom Platform.
On May 3, the Ottoman Turkish President revealed preparations for a new project that would allow the "voluntary return" of one million Syrian refugees to the Ottoman Turkish-controlled areas in northern Syria.
Accordingly, Abdi expressed the need to stand against the Ottoman Turkish plan and work to stop its project, as well as stop its "crimes" in Afrin.
The SDF Commander-in-Chief considered that Afrin was occupied as a result of an "international conspiracy", and the political circumstances did not help to make any successful steps to liberate it.
In 2018, Ottoman Turkish military and its affiliated Syrian National Army (SNA) launched an offensive on Afrin region and occupied it following two months of battles with the Kurdish People’s Protections Units (YPG).
He pointed out that they have in mind the liberation of the occupied areas, like Sere Kaniye and Afrin, calling on the Kurds to unite for that.
"The indigenous people of Afrin are resisting inside and outside their region. In Shahba region [Aleppo northern countryside], they are steadfast in the face of difficult life conditions. Those people are overlooked by Turkey," Abdi noted.
The panel discussion will last over three sessions that include different topics, and will be concluded with a statement and a presser.

It produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. That's three statements. Only the first is subjective.... cannot be ruled in a unilateral manner regardless of who wins the parliamentary majority.
"We will keep insisting on being present in any government, regardless of its nature, structure and program, in order to protect the resistance's back," Nasrallah told an electoral rally via video link.
"Lebanon cannot bear a leading sect nor a leading party, no matter how much this party may enjoy strength and popular support," Nasrallah added.
"Elimination and exclusion under the slogans of majority and minority would plunge Lebanon into adventures, and I stress that we are with national partnership in order to pull Lebanon out of its crises," the Hizbullah leader went on to say.
Emphasizing that the country is "built on partnership and non-elimination," Nasrallah added that everyone must be represented in parliament according to their "natural sizes."
"Under a sectarian system like the Lebanese one, any talk of majorities and minorities is not realistic," he underlined.
Separately, Nasrallah emphasized that Lebanon "cannot bear a new civil war, even for changing the political system."
"Civil war should be a prohibited red line," Nasrallah added.
"There are problems and flaws in this system that must be addressed through reform," he said.
In an apparent jab at the rival Lebanese Forces A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb... party, Nasrallah said the Lebanese are asked to choose between "those who call for civil peace and cling to it despite being killed on the roads of Tayyouneh" and those who "offer their services to foreign forces and are ready to make a civil war in Lebanon."
He added that his party and its Amal Movement allies "carried their deaders and maimed and insisted on civil peace despite having the ability to take Dire Revenge."

[BenarNews] Five Indonesian nationals who had their assets frozen by the United States are suspected of being involved in financing the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... murderous Moslem group’s efforts to recruit teens to fight in Syria and other countries, Indonesia’s counter-terrorism agency confirmed Tuesday.
Two of the suspects are in Indonesia while the other three are at Camp al-Hol in Syria near the Ottoman Turkish border, the BNPT agency said. On Monday, the U.S. Treasury Department named five Indonesian suspects, saying the United States had frozen their U.S. assets and was prohibiting people from engaging in certain transactions with them.

Unnamed intelligence sources told Britannia’s The Times newspaper in an article published Monday that a "clear message" needed to be sent to the terror organization.

[NYPOST] CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for... ’s fact checker Daniel Dale pushed back on President Biden’s recent claim that his policies had helped to reduce the federal deficit — revealing that one expert told him that the Democrat’s assertion was "almost bizarro world" in its misrepresentation of the situation.
"Let me remind you again: I reduced the federal deficit," Biden said a speech last Wednesday. "All the talk about the deficit from my Republican friends, I love it. I’ve reduced $350 billion in my first year in office."
Biden made the claim while touting his administration’s economic track record — despite fierce criticism from Republican politicians who argue his policies have contributed to rampant inflation and led the US economy to the brink of a recession.
During a Monday appearance on CNN’s "New Day" and in a separate article, Dale noted that the federal deficit had indeed declined during fiscal 2021. However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... the deficit decline was originally expected to be even larger than the figure Biden referenced.
Dale added that economic experts "still scoffed at the idea that President Biden is personally responsible for having reduced the deficit."

Seriously does anyone still think Biden is running the White House?
I quit blaming Biden after it was abundantly clear he had advanced mental clarity issues brought on by his age.

Run every one of them out and let a two year contract with five year renewable to the Musk team. Musk hires people from each state and levies achievable performance objectives in key areas.

1) Fed gummint budget should be limited to stuff the Constitution says fed gummint is actually responsible for.
2) Fed gummint budget should be constitutionally capped at some percentage of what they actually took in 2 years previous with a safety margin.
No borrow and spend except (maybe) in a true national emergency.

Before you fawn over Musk I had a friend who worked on building the Tesla plant in Austin and the Tesla culture was not big on lessons learned. They'd rather repeat known errors and incrementally improve them over time.
#11
My info is strictly about Tesla Austin. The lessons ignored that I remember was about how many bathrooms per worker are required. how they had too few in the Oakland plant and people urinated in dark corners because they couldn't be away from the assembly line for long. Then when building the Austin plant they seemed to fight to maintain the original numbers instead of adding the new numbers that were determined as necessary.
#13
Shouldn't have happened the first time, definitely not repeated.
Traffic analysis has been a science since I'd guess Sim City, before then a refined art, and before that a pretty damn good guess.
The factory designers are boobs, and the approval committee is full of boobs who didn't have the info independently double-checked.
The defects were known, but the boobs involved are connected, so it was all overlooked.
Boobs involved in the selection of the factory approval committee did not/could not rotate out the boobs in the approval and/or design process.
Traffic analysis is full of boobs who didn't update their software to include employees using the shitter as PED screen time.
The employee pool is full of boobs who spend 30-45 minutes on the shitter past allotted/planned for bathroom usage using their phones.
Employee pool is full of boobs who'd take a piss in the corner to get the extra 10 minutes screen time.
The employee pool is full of boobs who found the best way to black cat the factory is to take obnoxious unquestionable breaks and contaminate the facility with feces until it has to be shut down and sandblasted clean.
The head of that branch has decided it is easier to be a boob and go along as these sorts of things are built into and expected of government projects and to do otherwise would gain unwanted attention.
Then there is, yes, Musk at the top there giving the go/no go on ROI vs. goals.
If they use a simplified formula, furthest worker in the furthest shift break from restroom at reasonable travel pace, there and back again, with 10 minutes in restroom, 25% taking a dump determines number of toilets/urinals. Of course women's restroom is all toilets, so that considered at say 50/50 work population. Fine and well if that formula was gathered after smoking was made illegal and before screentime; may be legitimate OSHA/Union formula. Now, with the screen time and vaping, the older formula of transit time including 2 cigarettes and a beer would be more accurate.
Of course more data is needed, and that data exists especially clock in/clock out and internet data usage especially during said breaks.
#14
In any design for commercial/industrial buildings there are national standards for how many bathrooms and how many urinals, toilets, sinks there are depending on the number of people who will be working there. If those don't meet standards it's the designer's and/or the building inspector that is letting them slide.

A second holy warrior was killed in an ongoing shootout in Kreeri Dooru area of south Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... The current generation’s version of bread and circuses — or circuses, anyway.
[FoxNews] Biden touted his bipartisan infrastructure law that provided $65B for access to broadband
President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday announced a deal with more than a dozen U.S. internet service providers to give high-speed internet to Americans living in low-income areas, stressing that access is "not a luxury" but a "necessity."
Internet service providers like AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and others agreed to provide "high-speed" internet access for $30 per month. The Biden administration also announced Monday a federal subsidy for low-income households that will pay up to $30 for internet access, effectively making the plan free for qualifying households.
Americans can apply for access to the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) at a new government website that launched Monday.
The president, during a White House Rose Garden event Monday afternoon, said internet is "pretty consequential."
"High-speed internet is not a luxury any longer, it is a necessity," Biden said. "That’s why the bipartisan infrastructure law included $65 billion to make sure we expand access to broadband internet in every region of the country – urban, suburban, rural, everywhere."
Biden, on Monday, thanked the internet service providers, calling the agreement a "big deal," and saying it is a "great example of what we can achieve when the federal government and the private sector work together to solve serious problems."
Americans qualify for the program if their income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. They can also qualify if a member of their household uses any of a number of other federal programs, such as Medicaid, SNAP food stamps, or a veterans pension, according to the White House.
The ACP plan allows for download speeds of 100 Megabits per second, but qualifies that those speeds will only be available where "the provider’s infrastructure is capable of it."
"The Biden-Harris administration is grateful for the efforts of these companies, and encourages additional internet service providers to join this effort to close the digital divide by offering high-speed, low-cost plans," the White House said in a statement.

Because brown people never invented electricity, racial equity demands that we pay for their internet service. Plus it channels huge piles of money to the telecom companies.
A future Supreme Court will discover a right to broadband internet service previously hidden under a penumbra.

[Daily Beast] Nearly three months after Vladimir Putin unleashed his "special military operation" against Ukraine and a day after his less-than-triumphant Victory Day speech, a series of intercepted phone calls and radio traffic suggest the "idiocy" of his war is finally becoming too much to bear for even his own troops.
In perhaps the most dramatic audio to emerge, Russian crew members onboard a Raptor-class landing assault boat near Snake Island in the Black Sea appear to have been caught in radio transmissions desperately lamenting their lack of air support as Ukrainian forces bombarded them from an armed Bayraktar drone.
The audio, released on Telegram by the investigative news outlet InformNapalm, purportedly comes from open radio traffic during battles in the Black Sea that took place over the weekend, when Ukraine’s military said it had destroyed three "enemy" boats that subsequently wound up "on the bottom of the sea."
"Where is air support? Where is air support?" a man, identified as a Russian crew member, can be heard saying frantically amid what sounds like sirens in the background.
"This Bayraktar is already pissing me the fuck off," the man says, before apparently becoming more desperate as he says, "They have fired a fourth missile at us! A fourth missile!"
Despite the man’s pleas, the Russian service member on the other end simply promises to "pass along" the information to military leadership. It was not immediately clear if the man in the recording was on any of the three boats that Ukrainian authorities say they sank.
But the frustration in the recording has been echoed in other intercepted communications that purportedly capture Russian service members serving in other parts of Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Security Service released a minute-long recording Tuesday that it said was an intercepted phone call between a Russian soldier based in the Kharkiv region and his father back home. The soldier could not hold back his anger at his own commander, who he claimed had abandoned the fight to let the men in his unit serve as cannon fodder.
"They’re standing there, they’re under fire, and the commander just goes, ’Don’t back down!’ While he’s somewhere sitting on a couch, drinking, probably," the young man says.
"They can fuck off with this war," the soldier’s father replies, unleashing a stream of curse words over the "idiocy" of the war and the propaganda shown on Russian state TV.
"I can’t wrap my head around it," he says, adding, "They tell us every morning on TV about these new weapons that all of Ukraine supposedly saw and got scared of."
Advising his son to refuse to take part in the war any further, he rails against the "worthless rat" and "fucking scum" of a commander before the conversation ends.

^#5 my comment was not a hit piece but real world contacts with several active and retired military. Some with 20 year experience. They mentioned some actively seeking dishonorable discharge to escape these woke services. I don't need to make this up. It is hard enough to believe as it actually is.

[RIA Novosti] In the Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian military staged a provocation by shooting six civilian vehicles, said Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the Russian National Defense Control Center.
"According to the available reliable information, in the Kharkiv region, the Kyiv regime carried out another bloody action according to the Bucha scenario. On the section of the road between the settlements of Stary and Novy Saltov, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot six civilian vehicles with white flags mounted on them," Mizintsev said.
According to him, the photo and video recording was carried out by the specialists of the Center for Information and Psychological Operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, the general noted, from the area of private households in Belaya Krinitsa ( Kherson region ), Ukrainian artillery launched several attacks on the positions of Russian troops in order to cause return fire on houses with civilians, whom the terrorist defense militants did not let out of the blockaded settlement, keeping them in as a human shield.
He added that representatives of the Norwegian media were there to film the aftermath.
“We warn in advance that in the near future these and other materials fabricated by the Kyiv regime about the alleged “Russian atrocities” are planned to be widely distributed through Western and Ukrainian media, as well as Internet resources,” Mizintsev said.
Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal "the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years."
For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for "bloody crimes against civilians" in Donbass.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the armed forces strike only at the military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops and have already completed the main tasks of the first stage - they have significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was called the liberation of Donbass.

So reading between the lines, the Russian forces shot up a bunch of civilian cars, and are rushing a Katyn Forest story out ahead of Ukrainian reporting.

[REGNUM] The first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, died after a long illness at the age of 88. This was reported on May 10 by Ukrainian News.
Kravchuk is the first president of Ukraine, who held this post from December 5, 1991 to July 19, 1994. In 1992, he signed the Lisbon Protocol, pledging to abandon Ukraine's nuclear arsenal.
The following is a technical analysis of Russian tanks by a British military think tank
[RUSI] The war in Ukraine does not reveal anything fundamentally new about the tank. It confirms old lessons and reflects the challenges of armoured warfare.
Some of the very first images to emerge from the war in Ukraine, apart from the devastation caused by Russia’s long-range missile strikes, were of burning Russian armoured vehicles. As the conflict has progressed, these images have come to include some of the more advanced tanks in Russia’s arsenal: the T-80BVM and T-72B3M. Images of these tanks left as nothing more than burnt hulls, their turrets separated from the rest of the vehicle and thrown violently into a nearby ditch, may appear shocking. They give the impression that Ukraine has found the antidote to tank warfare. However, if we consider the design of Russian main battle tanks – and this also applies to the Ukrainian, Polish, Chinese, Indian and many other tank fleets – these images are both less shocking, and less useful in analysing Russian armour. It is a nice "layman's first overview" article. A thing to consider is that the Soviet perspective from WW2 was that armor is massed for the attack and engagement ranges typically were 250 meters or less. Many of the T-72's design features exemplify this focus.
#3
/\ Yes, obviously 'side shot' vulnerability is greatly decreased when the mass attack (on line assault) is employed. Channeling armor, single-file through city streets (urban warfare) or down paved highways thus exposing sides is deadly. Adding to this vulnerability are new families of highly effective Anti Tank Missiles such as the Lockheed Martin Javelin and British NLAW Anti-tank weapon.
The Ukraine army has also used anti-tank mines very effectively to enforce the channeling of tanks and trucks into established Anti-tank missile kill zones.
While this vintage Russian T-34 tank on-line attack graphic does not depict screening infantry, dismounted infantry would have likely been used to destroy or expose anti-tank teams. The extended ranges and accuracy of the newer anti-armor weapons makes screening by infantry very costly and labor intense.
As magpie stated in #2, weapons systems and tactics have changes since WWII. It would appear Russian systems and tactics have not kept up with current warfighting tactics and technologies.
[BBC] Finland and Sweden could apply for Nato membership within days - a monumental shift for two nations with a long history of wartime neutrality and staying out of military alliances.
Russia strongly opposes the two states joining and uses the expansion of the West's defensive military alliance as a pretext for its war in Ukraine.
Doing so would end over 200 years of Swedish non-alignment. Finland adopted neutrality following a bitter defeat by the Soviet Union during World War Two.
Finnish public support for joining Nato was for years at around 20-25%. But since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, it has shot up to a record high of 76%, according to the latest opinion poll. In Sweden, 57% of the population want to join, again far higher than before the war.

NATO is the only thing standing between Western Europe and the mighty Soviet Army streaming thru the Fulda Gap. NATO and the fact that the Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore.

[GREATERKASHMIR] Separatist leader Mohammad Yasin Malik on Tuesday pleaded guilty to all the charges, including those under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), before a Delhi court in a case related to alleged terrorism and secessionist activities that disturbed the Kashmir valley in 2017, court sources said.
They said Malik told the court that he was not contesting the charges levelled against him including section 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for the terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act), and 20 (being member of terrorist gang or organisation) of the UAPA and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code.
Special Judge Praveen Singh will hear on May 19 the arguments regarding the quantum of sentence for the offences levelled against Malik in which the maximum punishment is life imprisonment.
The court, meanwhile, formally framed the charges against other Kashmiri separatist leaders including Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate, Shabbir Shah, Masarat Alam, Md Yusuf Shah, Aftab Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Khan, Md Akbar Khanday, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Abdul Rashid Sheikh, and Naval Kishore Kapoor.
The charge sheet was also filed against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, who have been declared proclaimed offenders (PO) in the case.

The PI people are very sentimental. They are incredibly forgiving in nature. While we like to mock Imelda for her shoes, the people loved her. Her 3,000 shoes would not have fed many people for very long. The poverty issues are a lot more complicated than that. While, from the outside, this looks a lot like the Marcos dictatorship taking hold again, I would wait and see. The last president was a nut job authorizing the police killing of undesirables. Before that was and actor that lived for corruption and then there was GMA who sold the Philippines to China. We will see. And for the love of God the Philippinos need to rethink how they name their kids. Most common names for girls is Apple, baby, honey, or Cherry. Bing, ping, and bong are common names for men. Its a bit insane.

Pardon, I am a bit confused as how Duterte fits into this, as DM seems fascinated on other things.
I will say about the masks, I do love the photos of masked people with captions like "beaming". It reminds me of a photo of like three gals in burkas standing in front of a famous landmark, "Really enjoying ourselves." or "Enjoying bowl of spaghetti." as it is slurped under the hood.

[SchneiderKrieg] May 10th, 7:56
I didn't write yesterday. Yesterday was a Great holiday, and therefore did not hammer this bright day with his tedious reflections.
All - with the past!
Actually, the essence of this post:
• There is often a delusion on the Internet that in Ukraine, 150,000 Russian and Donetsk-Luhansk troops are fighting with 600,000 Ukrainian forces. At the same time, there is no mobilization in Russia, as a fact.
Strictly speaking, it is not. In particular, the number of only land "active bayonets" from our side and the total number (including civilian personnel) from Ukraine are compared.
• It is also necessary to assess the scale of mobilization in Russia and Ukraine today, to compare the actual potential.
So:
1. UKRAINE:
By the beginning of the NMD, its troops numbered 209,000 people in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 102 thousand - the defense, up to 120-130,000 (in total) - NSU, GPSU, Special Communications, Special Transport Service, etc. On the circle - 430-444,0000 people.
It is worth noting that this value included civilian personnel (up to 100,000 people). That is, in general, everyone.
Until April 2022, inclusive, three waves of mobilization - for 60,000, 6,000 and 70,000 people - 190,000 people were called up (officially). At the same time, the losses of Ukrainian troops today amount to at least 40-50,000 military personnel (killed, wounded and captured). They also have a high percentage of desertion: at least 20-30,000 people.
That is, according to the results of the mob events, they had up to 550.000 people in the ranks. Including, it is worth repeating again, all. Including numerous rather civilian personnel.
In addition, from May 15, a fourth wave of mobilization is expected, with the help of which it is planned to clean up, according to various sources, another 70 to 100,000 unlucky people (in total, mobilization will affect 260-290 thousand people by the summer). According to the results, there will be up to 620-650,000 people in the ranks. In general, everyone.
Of these, active bayonets (that is, those who directly conduct combat operations) will amount to 150,000 people (25 percent). Including more or less trained active bayonets as part of well-coordinated units - 60-70,000 people (10 percent).
As it was in Russia during the Civil War. Especially at the final stage, when 100,000 of the five million Red Army actually fought, being transferred from front to front.
Accordingly, a high percentage of losses for them, especially among "active bayonets", is fraught with a loss of combat capability.
2. RUSSIA (with LDNR):
Covert mobilization in Russia began, according to some sources, at the beginning of the year. By January 30, at least 85,000 reservists ("partisans") were called up for training. Reservists were also announced in February. A recruitment of contract soldiers to the troops and PMCs was carried out. Starting from mid-April, according to some sources, at least 60,000 people were recruited.
In total, according to certain estimates, up to 200-250,000 people were mobilized today, without the LDNR (quite comparable to Ukraine).
Your obedient servant at one time assumed that Russia needed a million fighters for the campaign in Ukraine. Without mobilization at home, subject to mobilization in the LDNR (which we consider), it was possible for us to field up to 700-800,000 people. Considering everyone in general (as in the case of Ukraine, a single method of calculation is needed).
I'll expand on the thesis. By the time the NWO began, Russia had concentrated 190-200,000 people on the borders with Ukraine, according to Western estimates. Including mobilized reservists.
The rear - the same civilian personnel, because much was transferred to outsourcing - amounted to 170-200,000 people. This, it seems, is without the potential of the Aerospace Forces and the Navy: another 70-80,000 people per circle (without rears). The National Guard numbered up to 60-70,000 people (without rears), LDNR (after mobilization) - at least 100,000 (together with rears). Plus the border troops of the FSB.
For a circle, all this amounted - together with the rear and civilian personnel, of course - the notorious 700-800,000 people. Don't be put off by this huge value. The number of "active bayonets" among these significant digital expressions did not really exceed 120-150,000 people (half - LDNR).
Additional covert mobilization from February to May, and the accompanying growth in the rear, turned out to be able to bring the number of Russian and LDNR forces on the border to almost a million people. At the same time, the number of "active bayonets" is unlikely to have grown significantly: no more than 150-200,000 people today.
It should be noted that today growth is in the line of building up the capacity of existing OShS (organizational staff structures). Presumably, it may include the following successive stages (thanks to https://maximlubyanov.livejournal.com/ for the tip):
• Increase in the number of people in the departments (from 6-7 to 11-13 people), the introduction of the fourth department in platoons. It is capable of leading, taking into account the shortage that took place by the beginning of the SVO, to no less than doubling the number of "active bayonets" (that is, by 150,000 people compared to the initial values);
• Introduction of the fourth platoon into companies (taking into account the previous stage, the number of companies is increased to 200-250 people). Able to give another 70-80,000 people (only active bayonets);
• The introduction of the fourth company into the battalion (growth of the battalion to 1000 people), the disbandment of the BTG (withdrawal of artillery and tanks back to regimental-brigade-divisional subordination), the introduction of the third battalion (meaning, directly operating forces on the theater of operations). Able to give another 70-80,000 people. At the same time, brigades again become brigades (for 5-6,000 people), divisions - divisions (depending on the composition of the division - 15-25,000 people).
Taking into account the recruitment of civilian personnel and others, it seems possible, after passing through the indicated stages, to increase the potential of the RF Armed Forces to 1.5 million people. Including 400-500,000 - active bayonets.
Taking into account the estimated potential for creating an army of Greater Novorossiya of half a million people, it is seen the possibility of forming a two-million-strong detachment of forces from Russia for operations in Ukraine. More than enough, given the existing balance of power.
True, given the pace, this is probably good if by the fall.
A reader responds to the remark about the disbandment of the Battalion Tactical Group (BTG):
I already expressed ideas at the VIF that the management of artillery, air defense systems and UAVs should be centralized at the army level in order to organize the ROC to combat artillery, air defense and enemy control centers (for which you need to lay down communications everywhere, and not just near line of contact). ROC is a mistranslation for line of contact, or possibly forward line our troops (FLOT)
https://vif2ne.org/nvk/forum/0/co/2992748.htm
https://vif2ne.org/nvk/forum/0/co/2992801.htm
https://vif2ne.org/nvk/forum/ 0/co/2992841.htm
Second:
In fact, we have very different BTGs.
Airborne Forces and DShV - Nonas or D-30 - limited range, little artillery itself, weak means of artillery reconnaissance. Nona is the 2S9 armored 120mm tracked mortar vehicle
Marines also have weak artillery, probably a platoon rather than an artillery control battery, and weak artillery reconnaissance capabilities.
Motorized rifle brigades - according to the division of 152mm artillery on the BTG - towed or self propelled, often modernized with a short reaction time and capable of operating according to the maneuver-fire scheme, also counting on the BTG a lot of air defense means are the most powerful guys.
Divisions
Since we had formed armored personnel carriers in peacetime long before, then:
In divisions we had BTR units with an attachment of regimental self propelled 122mm and a BTR unit with an attachment from an artillery regiment.
And AAA weapons, which are not many times more than in brigades, smeared as a thin layer on 5-6 BTGs.
In reality, it is very likely that the artillery regiments of the divisions are not pulled apart by the motorized rifle units, but act independently.
UAV is also very uneven.
In divisions (MSD VDD DSHD), probably a UAV company (where available) of 6-8-9 operators per division - for 5-6 armored infantry units.
In brigades (where available), probably the same UAV company of 6-8-9 operators for 2 armored infantry units.
Total: a combined hodgepodge of very different BTG strengths.
All this will also apply to regiments/brigades if they are not pulled apart by the BTGr.
Conclusion: at the army level, it is necessary to redistribute artillery and reconnaissance equipment not only in order to organize counter-battery combat in the operational direction, but also in order to equalize the combat capabilities of the existing armored infantry units, regiments or divisions.
Next.
We traditionally have a weak battalion command and control unit, both in terms of the number of officers and their status and level.
The role of the battalion link in civilian life is crushed: from above everything is driven by a lump. From below, the company steers all the life and combat training of grassroots units.
It is difficult for independent battalion commanders to appear in such a system.
This leads to the fact that the control of a reinforced battalion (regardless of whether it operates as part of a brigade / regiment or in isolation as a BTG) needs to be strengthened by pulling units to this control.
That is, if we want to put full-fledged, albeit two-battalion, regiments and brigades on the battlefield, we need to strengthen their command and control.
That is, IMHO, to raise retirees to the service.
Why so many letters:
1) regiments and brigades instead of armored personnel carriers - needed
2) regiments and brigades, if wisely, are needed with UAV companies and artillery expropriated to the army with its AIR, and then given back down from the army in some other composition for the task
3) so as not to pull the entire command staff of regiments and brigades for BTG it needs to be strengthened, preferably by sensible retirees - IMHO
In short, this is not done with one order - a set of measures is needed.
