ATLANTA (AP) — Several Black students who were suspended for trying to protest Confederate flag displays at their school in Georgia have filed a federal lawsuit against their school district and its board members, accusing them of allowing an extensive pattern of racism including "overt bigotry and animosity by some white students and teachers against African American students."
The students, joined by their mothers as plaintiffs, already made news when their protest at Coosa High School was stifled last fall.
Now, in their lawsuit filed Tuesday against the Floyd County school district and its board members, they allege an extensive pattern of racism, including white students reenacting the murder of George Floyd and posting it on social media, and a student who carried what appeared to be a whip and told a Black student "we used to whip you."
They also allege unfair punishment: Students are banned from wearing Black Lives Matter shirts, but Confederate flag apparel is acceptable under the school’s dress code, the lawsuit says.
The suit faults administrators for "deliberate indifference to acts of racial animosity toward Black students perpetrated by white students and teachers; as well as the school’s viewpoint discrimination in its dress code and the inconsistent administration of disciplinary policies to the detriment of Black students."
Joining the students as plaintiffs are their mothers, Lekisha Turner and Jessica Murray. Murray claims she was pulled over by a police officer after picking up the suspended children, and detained until school officials presented her with a letter threatening criminal trespassing charges if she was found again on school grounds.
Superintendent Glenn White on Tuesday said the district disputes the allegations but had been advised by lawyers to not get into specifics at this time. "The Floyd County school system looks forward to presenting the facts on this situation in court," White told The Associated Press in a phone interview.
Coosa High near Rome is in the heart of northwest Georgia’s conservative 14th Congressional District, which sent Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to Congress. About 10% of the school’s more than 800 students in grades 8-12 are Black, state enrollment figures show. About 58% are white, while 26% are Hispanic and the the remainder are multiracial or some other race.
Could This Be the Reason Biden is Importing Unaccompanied Children?
Unaccompanied child illegal immigrants tend to be riddled with infections and parasites, and so would make terrible blood&body parts donors. A cure considerably worse than the disease of aging, in my opinion. Better — and much cheaper — to get an infusion of the intestinal fauna of some healthy old guy, whether in pill form or as an old-fashioned poop milkshake (fecal transplant, for those who prefer the Latin medicalese).
[InfoWars] No longer just a "trope in horror novels."
New scientific research by Stanford University reveals that "harvesting the blood and body parts of the young in the hope of achieving immortality" is no longer just a "trope in horror novels," but a feasible likelihood.
Yes, really.
According to a report by the Telegraph newspaper, research by Stanford shows that "infusing cerebrospinal fluid of young mice into old mice improves brain function," opening the door for similar applications to humans.
The Stanford team infused fluid from 10-week-old mice into the brains of 18-month-old mice over seven days, and found that older mice were better at remembering to associate a small electric shock with a noise and flashing light.
Closer examination showed the fluid had "woken up" processes which regenerate neurons and myelin — the fatty material that protects nerve cells within the hippocampus, the memory centre of the brain.
The study shows that the same process could be applied to anti-ageing research, and that, "Experiments are even showing that young blood itself can reverse the ageing process, perhaps even curing Alzheimer’s disease."
Elitists and transhumanists have long been interested in harvesting material from young people in a bid to pursue life-extension.
Former North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il routinely had himself injected with blood taken from young, healthy virgins in the belief that it would help him live longer.
The Telegraph report notes that, "Harvesting the blood and body parts of the young in the hope of achieving immortality has long been a familiar trope in horror novels and conspiracy theories."
Apparently, not for much longer.
"It may only be a few years before "youth transplants" finally move from the pages of gothic horror novels into the clinic," writes Sarah Knapton. Source is just as reliable as the DM. That’s certainly one perspective. Have you considered setting up your own blog to share it with the world?

:-) We all had to climb that learning curve, my dear Vespasian Ebboting9735. I made a point to check the reference links in the InfoWars article, and found them reasonably sound — the Telegraph, etc. Info Wars ranges between sensible and paranoid-nuts, which makes choosing articles from there more labour intensive.
Now, where did I hear this one before...

[YouTube - Perun] This war has produced some truly interesting takes - so many that I'm already planning my next myth-busting video as we speak.
But one recent one stood out as as both particularly strange, and also as a good opportunity to discuss a serious topic. Recently a number of media organisations ran stories suggesting that the shipment of American missiles to Ukraine were dangerously depleting American supplies to the point where urgent measures are necessary or American security would be threatened.
So yes, I'm going to deal with the idea that sending Stingers to Ukraine is a danger to the USA, but I'm also going to talk about how deep American weapon stocks are, what it means to have your security threatened, and why America probably shouldn't rush to crash-manufacture Stingers just because they're finally using the ones that were in storage. Defence procurement decisions have lasting impacts, and while the decision to ramp up Javelin production is an obvious one, I think we should be wary of the idea that Stinger should be resurrected without other options being considered.

What with all the talk about "ramping up production", I got a question: Do you wonder why Raytheon et al don't seem to have chip shortages and supply issues like everybody else?

...someone actually enforced the contract on buying only from 'secure' sources rather than subcontracted out to a third party source using 'unsecured' sources?
#5
Do you wonder why Raytheon et al don't seem to have chip shortages
Simple reason. Most of the high end chips are made in the US or Taiwan with US designs and the US gets first claim to them. Cheap chips that reside in IoT devices or cars come from China, and we don't put that shit in our weapons.
#8
...and cheaper. See the price on mil-spec stuff? It's not just a $100 hammer*
*btw, your Congresscritters are the ones that require DoD buy the $100 hammer through contracting regulations and then allow blame to fall on DoD. If local procurement went down to Home Depot or Lowes they could actual go to (reserved for little people) jail.
#9
Also tack on P2K if things need replaced in a SCIF, the contractors need to have the level of clearance necessary to go into a lot of the high level ones. (low level secret ones you just turn on the red light and lock the computer screens to let them in. No background clearance needed)
So yes, it can cost $200-400 per toilet seat. The military used to do all that themselves, but the Powers-That-Be™ decided it was easier and cheaper to have cleared civilians do it. Seems like more expensive to me but I'm just a grunt.

..unlikely. Russia is a land war. Any war with China will be largely naval with cutting all those overseas supply lines they are now dependent upon. Of course the Chinese could go to Siberia to make up some of those losses at the expense of someone who's exhausted his own stockpiles. Easier to simply become a good vassal like Alexander Nevsky.

Russia is unlikely to invade more countries but they are not powerless. The best thing for all concerned would be peace at this point. Having everybody pour weapons into the conflict while Biden prints more money to pay the bill just fills body bags with young Russian men and a higher number of young and old Ukrainians of both genders. The only beneficiaries are Globalists, weapons makers and the CCP.

For the record Rex, Waukesha is a pretty conservative city (as is the surrounding county). Mixed nationalities of residents, many who escaped the Milwaukee hellhole to the east but wanted to be close enough to work there.
The same situation exists in cites north of Milwaukee like Cedarburg, Mequon and Port Washington.

has been tweeting nonstop partisan attacks suggesting Republicans are to blame for the shooting for promoting "replacement theory."
"I looked through [Ted Lieu's] tweets and he is using the Buffalo mass shooting as a partisan attack against Republicans," Andy Ngo said Monday on Twitter. "He has said nothing about the mass shooting on the church in [southern] California (where he lives) by a suspect originally from China who allegedly targeted the Taiwanese."
Last year, Lieu boasted about what some call "replacement" migration in a tweet to Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Scott Perry.
Perry expressed concerns about mass immigration during a House Foreign Affairs Committee meeting in April 2021 by saying: "For many Americans, what seems to be happening or what they believe right now is happening is what appears to them is we're replacing national-born American -- native-born Americans to permanently transform the landscape of this very nation."
Lieu responded to Perry in a tweet boasting: "Native-born Americans like you are no more American, and no less American, than an immigrant like me. And with every passing year, there will be more people who look like me in the US. You can't stop it."
"So take your racist replacement theory and shove it," he added.

But everyone knows 'replacement people' is an evil conspiracy theory.
[JustTheNews] A California law requiring publicly-held corporations to include women on their boards has been declared unconstitutional by a Los Angeles judge.
Superior Court Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis said the law, which requires corporations with principal executive offices in California to include women on their boards, violates the Equal Protection Clause of the state’s Constitution.
The law was challenged by Judicial Watch, who argued that the law created an unconstitutional gender-based quota system. Judicial Watch represented three California taxpayers who brought forth the case. The judge issued the ruling on Friday.
“Thankfully, California courts have upheld the core American value of equal protection under the law,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement Monday.
The 2018 law at the center of the case, Senate Bill 826, required that publicly held foreign or domestic corporations with principal executive offices in California add at least one female director to its board by the end of 2019. By January 2022, the law required corporations to have at least three female directors on boards of six or more members and at least two female directors on boards of five members.
Corporations that failed to file board member information to the Secretary of State regarding these regulations would face a fine of $100,000 for the first violation and $300,000 for subsequent violations and for failing to have the required number of female board members.
During the trial, however, the state admitted that the Secretary of State “had no plans to and has not taken any steps to issue the regulations necessary to impose fines.” According to the latest report, fewer than half of the almost 650 corporations failed to file a required corporate disclosure statement last year.
When the law passed, supporters of the bill hailed the law as a step to increase gender representation on corporate boards. But opponents of the bill, including the California Chamber of Commerce, were concerned that the mandate’s exclusive focus on gender “potentially elevates it as a priority over other aspects of diversity” when companies were looking at “all classifications” of diversity, according to a bill analysis.
A legislative analysis of the bill had previously said the law had a “significant risk for legal challenges,” saying that if the law was enacted, it would “likely be challenged on equal protection grounds.” When signing the bill, former Gov. Jerry Brown said he was aware of the “serious legal concerns” that were raised surrounding the legislation, according to Judicial Watch's complaint.
The state defended the constitutionality of the law during trial by arguing that the law as necessary to “remedy discrimination” and increase gender diversity in the selection process for directors on publicly held corporate boards. The court, however, said that SB 826’s text does not “reference discrimination nor remedying discrimination.”
Several states have followed California’s model by introducing similar proposals in their states. Washington, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Hawaii have introduced or enacted similar bills, according to the Associated Press.
And how much in liabilities?
[FoxNews] The BLM Foundation has an operating budget of $4 million
According to 63-pages of tax documents acquired by the Associated Press, executives of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation Inc. have nearly $42 million in assets, despite spending more than $37 million from July 2020 to June 2021.
The $37 million was spent on grants, real estate, consultants and other expenses.
BLM received $90 million in donations amid the 2020 protests and riots that were carried out in major cities across the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. The foundation reports it invested $32 million in stocks from the $90 million in donations, according to the tax documents.
Organizers tell the Associated Press that the investment is expected to become an endowment to ensure the foundation’s work continues in the future.
The foundation has an operating budget of $4 million, a board member told the Associated Press, but the tax filing showed the BLM Foundation spent nearly $6 million on a mansion in Los Angeles, according to the report.
The BLM Foundation has operated as a nonprofit sponsored by a charity before it became an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit in December 2020, requiring it to publicly disclose its finances.
"This 990 reveals that (the BLM foundation) is the largest Black abolitionist nonprofit organization that has ever existed in the nation’s history. What we’re doing has never been done before," said Shalomyah Bowers, the foundation’s board secretary.
Brian Mittendorf, Ph.D., an accounting professor at Ohio State University, said the disclosure will likely set up the foundation for criticism as its "huge windfall" has a "mismatch" and "gaps" in its data.
"It comes across as an early startup nonprofit, without substantial governance structure in place, that got a huge windfall," Mittendorf told the outlet.
"People are going to be quick to assume that mismatch reflects intent. Whether there’s anything improper here, that is another question," the professor continued. "But whether they set themselves up for being criticized, I think that certainly is the case because they didn’t plug a bunch of those gaps."
The BLM Foundation started in 2013 after the death of Trayvon Martin, 17, and grew following the death of Michael Brown, 18, the following year.

[FoxNews] Six people were arrested and an estimated $25 million worth of drugs were seized
U.S. authorities on Monday announced the discovery of a massive tunnel stretching under the U.S.-Mexico border that was likely used to transport drugs undetected.
The over 1,700-foot "fully operational" tunnel runs from Tijuana to an industrial warehouse in San Diego, California. Authorities said it contains a "sophisticated" structural system that was likely used to smuggle heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl into the U.S.
"It’s estimated to be about 1,744 feet long, 61 feet deep, with a diameter of about 4 feet at its widest point," said Randy Grossman, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California. "It has reinforced walls, a rail system, and electricity for ventilation."
U.S. authorities did not say how long the tunnel had been operating but announced $25 million worth of drugs were seized from the tunnel and its operatives over the weekend. The drugs included 1,762 pounds of cocaine, 165 pounds of meth and 3.5 pounds of heroin.
Six Southern California residents were arrested and charged with conspiring to distribute cocaine, officials said.
The industrial warehouse where the tunnel lets out is near the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Otay Mesa Port of Entry, but U.S. authorities have not commented further on the discovery, Fox 5 reported.
The Department of Homeland Security is investigating the tunnel.
Authorities said the tunnel was discovered as officials began sweeping the area for drugs. They conducted drug raids on several homes where drugs were known to be stashed and then checked the warehouse, where they discovered the tunnel.
At least 15 of these sophisticated tunnels across the border have been discovered since 2006, officials said.
Authorities declined to link the latest tunnel to any specific cartel. By federal law, U.S. authorities must fill the U.S. side of tunnels with concrete after they are discovered.
Last week, Border Patrol agents apprehended multiple sex offenders and gang members who crossed the border into the U.S. amid a border crisis that has overwhelmed border security.
The arrests included 15 illegal immigrants convicted or wanted on sex offense charges and three members of the notoriously violent MS-13 gang.
For a guy and his girlfriend with two kids, all you have to do is follow these proven steps:
1. Don't marry her!
2. Always use your mom's address to get your mail.
3. The guy buys a house.
4. The guy rents out the house to his girlfriend with his two kids.
5. Section 8 will pay $900 a month for a 3 bedroom home.
6. Girlfriend signs up for Obamacare, so the guy doesn't have to pay for family insurance.
7. Girlfriend gets to go to college for free for being a single mother.
8. Girlfriend gets $600 a month for food stamps.
9. Girlfriend gets a free cell phone.
10 Girlfriend gets free utilities.
11. The guy moves into the home but continues to use mom's address for his mail.
12. Girlfriend claims one kid and guy claims the other kid on their tax forms. Now both get to claim head of household at $1800 credit.
13. Girlfriend gets $1800 a month disability for having a "bad back" and never has to work again.
This plan is perfectly legal and is being executed now by millions of people!
A married couple with a stay-at-home mom yields $0 dollars.
An unmarried couple with a stay-at-home mom nets $21,600 disability + $10,800 free housing + $6,000 free Obamacare + $6,000 free food+ $4,800 free utilities + $6,000 Pell grant money to spend + $12,000 a year in college tuition free from Pell grant + $8,800 tax benefit for being a single mother = $75,000 a year in benefits!
Any idea why our country is over $20 trillion in debt and half the population is sitting around letting the other half pay their way?
#7
It wouldn't be the first tunnel they've discovered at Otay Mesa.
Although surrounded by hills to the north and west, the actual crossing and adjacent areas are pretty flat with buildings right up to the border on both sides. Not sure if the soil conditions make for easy tunneling, but maybe Frank might know that.

How pathetic that we can't even get straight news and basic facts from our own media outlets. China's state media, Indian media, even Russia Today provide more objective, balanced and accurate reporting than the American and British news outlets.
This is one of the most balanced and accurate brief summaries available:
"Azovstal serves as the last bastion of Ukrainian troops in Mariupol, a major port city that saw some of the most intense fighting during Russia’s offensive in Ukraine. The vast facility has an extensive network of underground tunnels and shelters, where Ukrainian fighters are holed up.
"Russia decided not to storm the site, saying it would take too many lives of its soldiers, and opted for a prolonged siege instead. Ukrainian troops stationed there, many of whom belong to the controversial nationalist Azov battalion, have been complaining about a shortage of food, medical supplies and ammunition for weeks.
"The German- and French-brokered Minsk protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state. The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force."
Russia Today is a Russian state-controlled international television network funded by the Russian government.
So yes, dreadfully balanced and accurate.
(No sarcasm when that last sentence is understood literally. Otherwise very heavily sarcastic indeed — both statements are true because words are fun.)

I read through the text at #4 and found it to be exactly what the poster said: balanced and accurate. They presented the Russian view, and then presented the Ukrainian view, fairly and concisely, with no attempt to slant the story. It doesn't use any inflammatory language. It just recites facts; it's reporting the way it used to be done.
What exactly about those sentences Is not balanced or accurate?

Now even The New York Slimes is admitting it -- using Tge 'S' word in a huge headline and making only weak efforts to spin it as other than a devastating loss for Ukraine:
"The surrender at Mariupol solidified the conquest of a once-thriving southeastern port, which unlocks a land corridor between Crimea and east Ukraine. This would give President Vladimir Putin a stronger position in any negotiated settlement to end the war, U.S. officials have said."

give President Vladimir Putin a stronger position in any negotiated settlement to end the war, U.S. officials have said
Great news. Finally a lasting peace settlement is in sight.
This is the time to start serious talks and bring this foolishness to a conclusion. Putin has achieved what he wanted: Ukraine in ruins, the entire Azov Battalion exterminated or in Russian custody, and complete control of the southern land bridge to Crimea. Now his tanks and troops need to exit the rest of Ukraine.
This is the time to make the best bargain Ukraine can possibly hope for: withdrawal of all Russian troops in all areas West of the Donbas and not bordering the Black Sea or Azov in exchange for a guarantee of neutrality for Ukraine.
The US MIC can sell Ukraine $40 billion of hardware for its defense and keep the stolen Russian assets.
Russia will keep its possessions in the south and east.
[Times of San Diego] Whoops! Down the Memory Hole
The man who allegedly killed a doctor and injured five others at a Taiwanese church in Orange County was a U.S. citizen born in China who hated Taiwan and drove from Las Vegas armed with guns, chains and numerous Molotov cocktails, authorities said on Monday.
David Chou, 68, allegedly chained shut the doors where up to 40 people were attending a luncheon in honor of a former pastor of the Irvine Taiwanese Presbyterian Church and began firing at congregants, Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes said Monday.
Barnes said the violent assault Sunday afternoon at the Geneva Presbyterian Church in the retirement community of Laguna Woods was motivated by Chou’s hatred of Taiwan and recent tensions between Taiwan and mainland China.
"This is a manifestation of the ugliest part of our humanity that exists in our country today," Barnes said at a news conference on Monday, also referencing the weekend’s racially motivated mass shooting in Buffalo, New York.
The FBI said it was opening a hate crime investigation in the case.
Dr. John Cheng, 52, a physician with South Bay Medical Group in Aliso Viejo, was killed when he charged the gunman and attempted to disarm him, Barnes said. Cheng is survived by his wife and two children.
"Dr. Cheng is a hero in this incident," Barnes said, adding that the doctor’s actions bought time for other parishioners to subdue the suspect and eventually hogtie him.
"Without the actions of Dr. Cheng, there is no doubt there would be additional victims in this crime," Barnes said.
Barnes said four incendiary devices, similar to Molotov cocktails, were placed inside the church, and investigators also found bags of additional ammunition.
The sheriff said investigators have determined the shooting was an isolated incident carried out solely by the suspect.
Four other men of Asian descent aged 66 to 92 and an 86-year-old woman of Asian descent were injured in the mass shooting. Their names have not yet been released.
[Hot Air] A Republican from Wyoming, Senator Cynthia Lummis was a keynote speaker during several University of Wyoming commencement ceremonies in Laramie during the weekend. One speech quickly went off the rails when she dared to speak truthfully about science and "two sexes". Some members of the audience loudly booed her, interrupting her speech for 25 seconds. She has since apologized.
Everything seemed to be going ok until Lummis, a graduate of the University of Wyoming, spoke about a scientific truth. That truth is that there are two sexes, male and female. After the interruption to her speech, she made a point to say, "I’m not making a comment about the fact that there are people who transition between two sexes."

The origins of the leftest booing, rage, and denial are not found at the University of Wyoming or in biology, they are actually found in the Garden.

If so what is it?

BLUF:
[CNN] Replacement pattern. That ad is part of a larger narrative.
Tucker Carlson, the Fox host, has pushed the idea that Democrats want to import new voters to dilute the votes of other Americans, presumably Whites like him. Finally, the evil Tucker Carlson is exposed !
Liberal/Progressive Democrats have been boasting for decades that young, Democrat-voting illegal immigrants are flooding in through our wide open borders, creating a permanent Democrat majority. But they pounce when Republicans/conservatives object.
Trump biographer Michael D'Antonio and City University of New York media studies professor James Cohen wrote a CNN opinion piece last year about how the concept of replacement theory has festered in US politics for decades, but has recently become easy to decode in segments on Carlson's show and in remarks by lawmakers. festering and decoding!
CNN's Chris Cillizza has documented how the concept of replacement theory has been mentioned by lawmakers like GOP Rep. Scott Perry, who said this at a House Foreign Affairs Committee meeting in April of 2021:
"For many Americans, what seems to be happening or what they believe right now is happening is what appears to them is we're replacing national-born American — native-born Americans to permanently transform the landscape of this very nation," the Pennsylvania Republican said in reference to the number of people trying to enter the country at the United States' southern border. But, but, but what if everyone moves to Florida and Texas ?
Remember Hillary's emails from 2016? Their plan to increase (legal) immigration to 4 million a year? The phrase "permanent Democrat majority" was mentioned.

Seem to be some real questions about his paper too; stuff like multiple styles, overabundance of information only industry pros would care about, contradictions, and dates not lining up. Not going to get into it as I don't feel confident enough at the moment to put my name on anything, but it looks like the Sears December catalog with everything blamed and to be banned circled, and needing two markers to do so.
New York’s gun control laws, known collectively as the SAFE Act, are among the strictest in the nation. The gun used by the suspect, an automatic rifle known as an AR-15, is sold legally in New York. But the gun was modified with a high-capacity magazine that allows 30 shots per round.
[Brownstone] In his classic dystopian novel 1984, George Orwell famously wrote, "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever." This striking image served as a potent symbol for totalitarianism in the 20th Century. But as Caylan Ford recently observed, with the advent of digital health passports in the emerging biomedical security state, the new symbol of totalitarian repression is "not a boot, but an algorithm in the cloud: emotionless, impervious to appeal, silently shaping the biomass." The new forms of repression will be no less real for being virtual rather than physical.
These new digital surveillance and control mechanisms will be no less oppressive for being virtual rather than physical. Contact tracing apps, for example, have proliferated with at least 120 different apps in used in 71 different states, and 60 other digital contact-tracing measures have been used across 38 countries. There is currently no evidence that contact tracing apps or other methods of digital surveillance have helped to slow the spread of covid; but as with so many of our pandemic policies, this does not seem to have deterred their use.
Other advanced technologies were deployed in what one writer has called, with a nod to Orwell, "the stomp reflex," to describe governments’ propensity to abuse emergency powers. Twenty-two countries used surveillance drones to monitor their populations for covid rule-breakers, others deployed facial recognition technologies, twenty-eight countries used internet censorship and thirteen countries resorted to internet shutdowns to manage populations during covid. A total of thirty-two countries have used militaries or military ordnances to enforce rules, which has included casualties. In Angola, for example, police shot and killed several citizens while imposing a lockdown.

He added that efforts were ongoing to identify the button men but their whereabouts could not be ascertained yet.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haduna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident saying three of the dear departed persons went titzup.
"The kidnappers came from across the border in Bauchi State. They took a district head in Karfi and killed three people on the spot," he said.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted at Dalori Internally Displaced Persons’ Camp in the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State was successfully disabled by the police on Monday.
The Borno State Police Commissioner, Abdu Umar confirmed the discovery.
He said the bomb was planted by Boko Haram ...the name means Western education is forbidden, They're what you get as the result of a traditional African or Islamic education... and Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... of the West African Province (ISWAP) holy warriors.
It was learnt that the bomb scare began at about 6:00 am when an item concealed in a sack was spotted causing the residents at the camp to abandon their shelters and flee.
About three hours later, a team of the EOD operatives came and discovered that the item was an explosive, planted in the camp to cause havoc.
[Washington Examiner] A homeowner in Indiana shot two intruders dead and detained two others at gunpoint while waiting for police to arrive after a gang of burglars broke into his home.
At least four individuals were armed when they broke into the homeowner's DeKalb County residence Sunday morning around 6:00 a.m., Indiana State Police said.
The homeowner greeted them with a firearm and began firing, according to a report.
Two intruders, identified as Rameica Moore, 36, and Dylan Morefield, 22, were killed.
Two others, identified as Tabitha Johnson, 42, and Shaun Kruse, 42, were held by the man at gunpoint until police arrived.
They were then taken into custody and booked into DeKalb County Jail on felony murder and burglary charges, the report noted.
Someone can be charged with murder if an individual dies while they are in the act of committing a felony, according to Indiana law, a report noted.
Autopsies are pending on the deceased intruders, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

[ToloNews] More than 130,000 troops have been recruited, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said, adding that it is aiming toward 150,000.
Yes, but will they be taught to read, write, and do jumping jacks like the Coalition did? And whatever happened to East Point?
"More than 130,000 people have been registered and this process will continue. With the completion of registration, the Afghans will see an independent, well-formed and committed military who will provide security and defend the Afghan soil and borders," said Inayatullah Khwarazami, a front man for the MoD.
However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... the uniform for the new troops has yet to be determined.
Khwarazami said all former female employees of the MoD are still being paid and some of them are still working within the ministry.
"The women who were working in the Ministry of Defense are still working, for example, they are in the health department and other departments. The leadership of the Islamic Emirate and Defense Ministry will make a decision about them. They are still receiving their salaries," Khwarazai said.

[IsraelTimes] Suspect — a 22-year-old resident of al-Bireh — found with suicide note in his possession; security forces arrest nine Paleostinians in overnight West Bank raids
Israeli police arrested overnight Sunday a Paleostinian armed with an axe and carrying an apparent suicide letter stating that he was on his way to carry out a terror attack in the West Bank.
According to police, the suspect — a 22-year-old resident of the Paleostinian city of al-Bireh — was detained after driving around the Tapuah Junction in the northern West Bank for nearly an hour looking for Israelis standing alone in order to attack them.
The suspect was taken in for questioning.
"The vigilance of the police and the pursuit of contact apparently prevented a major attack, we will continue with determination and professionalism together with the other security forces to protect the security of Israeli citizens everywhere and at all times," said the police commander of the area, Haim Sargrof.
The incident came amid heightened tensions between Paleostinians and Israeli forces in the West Bank amid a terror wave that has killed 19 Israelis since mid-March.
A deadly attack in Elad earlier this month saw three Israelis killed and several others maimed by two Paleostinians carrying a knife and an axe.
Meanwhile, ...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce... security forces arrested nine Paleostinians suspected of terrorist activity on Sunday night throughout the West Bank as part of ongoing anti-terror operations.
Suspects were arrested in Tulkarm, Beitunia, al-Bireh and Yamun, and were all taken into custody for further questioning. In Yamun, Paleostinian button men fired at Israeli soldiers. No soldiers were maimed.
Troops have been carrying out extensive raids in the West Bank in response to the attacks. According to the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry, 31 Paleostinians have been killed by Israeli troops since late March. Some committed violent mostly peaceful terror attacks, others participated in festivities with soldiers, while some appear to have been unarmed bystanders.
[Rudaw] Ten Kurdish female deminers, the first group of its kind in Iraq, have been clearing mines dispersed across the Kurdistan Region’s border areas for seven months, defusing active explosive ordnances that pose a threat to those residing in the area.
Five days a week, the deminers working for the Mine Advisory Group (MAG) work to defuse mines at the Lalomari minefield which is 22,000 square meters, situated in the mountainous areas of Sharbazehr, Sulaimani province, near the Iranian border. The group has been working in the Kurdistan Region since 1992.
"I have fallen off the ground many times, injuring my hands, and hitting my hands with a hammer. But, thankfully, all went well... When you detect a mine, you become very happy, because you save someone else's life from death," Shaniya Mariwan, a deminer, told Rudaw’s Nizar Jaza last week.
Prior to starting field work, the deminers had to undergo six weeks of training.
According to data from local authorities, a total of eight people and more than a hundred sheep have so far been killed by mines.
Jabar Fatih, in charge of MAG activities in Sulaimani and Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... told Rudaw that, "they perform very well. There is no difference in performance between them and the men. They do the very same job."
There are tens of millions of unwent kaboom! landmines and explosive ordnances across the Kurdistan Region’s borders with Iran, and the remnants date back to more than three decades ago, during the devastating Iran-Iraq war from 1980 to 1988.
There are around 3,000 minefields in the Kurdistan Region. Around 2,700 people have been killed by landmines and 10,800 others maimed or maimed since the 1990s, according to the KRG’s Mine Action Agency.
[Dawn] One person died and 11 were maimed in a blast near Iqbal Market and New Memon Mosque in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... 's Kharadar area, according to Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab.
Wahab identified the dear departed as a woman named Sania, wife of Khalid.
As per footage shown on DawnNewsTV, cycle of violences and automobiles, including a police vehicle, suffered damage as people tried to put out fire.
A blurb from the Karachi police's media cell said an improvised bomb (IED) was responsible for the blast. It said that Assistant Sub-inspector Badaruddin was among the injured, adding that he was "out of danger".
"One police pick up and a few other vehicles are damaged in the incident. Crime scene unit has secured the place of incident. BD (bomb disposal) team is working to establish the nature of explosion," the blurb said.
The blast tonight is the second one to terrorise Karachi within the span of a week. Last Thursday, one passerby was killed and at least nine injured when an improvised bomb (IED) planted in a cycle of violence went off in Saddar.

[REGNUM] In the south of the Syrian province of Hasakah, on May 16, a US military base located in the Al-Shaddadi region was fired from mortars. It is reported by Al Mayadeen TV channel.
According to him, the shelling was carried out from the side of the Syrian-Iraqi border, most of the mines exploded in the vicinity of the base. Currently, American unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are intensively loitering over Ash Shaddadi and the border area.
Recall that since the beginning of the year, American military installations and camps in Syria have been shelled at least six times.
As REGNUM reported , units of the US armed forces in Syria carried out the export of a batch of oil illegally produced at one of the Syrian fields.

After we take Moscow, Syria will collapse due to the absence of a great power sponsor. This base is waiting for that day.
I learned a new word this weekend: menticide. It means "the systematic effort to undermine and destroy a person's values and beliefs, as by the use of prolonged interrogation, drugs, torture, etc., and to induce radically different ideas."
In short, brainwashing.
Apply that word to American society and you realize that you don't need prolonged interrogation, drugs or torture to get a society to kill itself. All you need is 70 years of attacks on the core beliefs of a nation to bring it down.
Liberals have replaced common sense with mental illness. They tell us nonsense such as men can have babies, and the government now pretends it is true.
The erosion of what made America great began gradually. Playboy began the erasure of our sexual mores. Rock 'n' roll began the popularization of the recreational use of drugs. State lotteries began the acceptance of gambling instead of producing goods and services. We gave into our impulses. Americans no longer have a wonderful life. The Bedford Falls of the 1950s is now Pottersville with booze, gambling and hookers.
Look at where we are today. People poop in the streets of San Francisco without punishment. Stores are regularly looted in Democrat Party havens again without punishment. Criminals regularly knock little old ladies down and shove Asians into oncoming subway trains again without punishment. Gangbangers routinely shoot, maim and kill young black people again without punishment. Only 1 in 6 murders in Chicago is solved despite a police staff of more than 13,000 workers.
Rock 'n' roll began the popularization of the recreational use of drugs.
Never heard of jazz or swing, or even listened to popular radio shows from the 40s and 50s, either. The band on Jack Benny's show was the butt of jokes about their intemperance -- and not just of alcohol. Rochester was a gambler and womanizer (and it wasn't portrayed as a flaw in his character).
State lotteries began the acceptance of gambling
Lotteries date back to the first days of the Republic.
Did Surber write this? Is he really this ignorant? Has he honestly bought into a view of the 1950s as distorted as the left's?

We traded Norman Rockwell for Andy Warhol. That's what you call degenerate. America today is degenerate. My memory still works and I remember the 1950's. I remember when America still looked more like a Rockwell painting than a Warhol...back in the days when people still went to church on Sunday. Things are different today. TV, radio and the movies became far more powerful after WWII. Cab Calloway may have smoked reefer but when John Lennon sang about Strawberry Fields everybody wanted to go there. Deny it at your own peril: Hugh Hefner played a part in the change. So did the Beatles. So did Lyndon Johnson if you want to be honest. It happened on his watch. We weren't going to hell with Eisenhower but with LBJ we did. Kennedy's assassination was the turning point. That's when things started getting weird. Listen to the recording of Jimi Hendrix playing The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock. It was like flying the American flag upside down and shining a black light on it. Without any words, probably without even knowing it, he was telling the world that we have a problem.

Despite the apparent setback, Hezbollah and its main Shiite ally, the Amal group of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, are likely to retain the 27 seats allocated to the sect. The unofficial results show that independents, including those from the 2019 protest movement, made some gains by removing longtime politicians from parliament.
The closely watched elections on Sunday were the first since a devastating economic crisis erupted in Lebanon in October 2019, triggering nationwide protests against the ruling class blamed for decades of corruption and mismanagement.
It was also the first election since the August 2020 Beirut port explosion that killed more than 200 people, injured thousands and destroyed parts of the Lebanese capital. The blast, widely blamed on negligence, was set off by hundreds of tons of poorly stored ammonium nitrate that ignited in a port warehouse.
The Saudi-backed Christian Lebanese Forces party, which has been among the most vocal critics of the Iran-armed Hezbollah, says it won at least 20 seats, adding five members from the 2018 vote. This would make it the largest Christian bloc in parliament, replacing the Free Patriotic Movement that was founded by President Michel Aoun and has been a Hezbollah ally since 2006.
Independents also appear to be making some significant gains, but they remain far from making changes as the main winners of the vote are likely to be mainstream political group.
A strong Hezbollah ally in south Lebanon reportedly lost his seat to an independent, while another independent, Mark Daou, says ``we are heading to a big victory.'' Daou is running in the Mount Lebanon region of Aley against longtime Druze politician Talal Arslan.
Official results were expected to be announced later Monday.
Lebanon holds elections every four years and the new parliament will elect a new president after Aoun's term ends in October.
[KhaamaPress] Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... security officials in Ghazni province have announced the arrest of three people in connection with weapons smuggling to Pakistain.
The Taliban had identified and wanted the men as they tried to transport weapons to Pakistain in a truck, according to the state-run Bakhtar news agency, quoting the Taliban Interior Ministry.
According to the ministry, Taliban forces launched an operation in Ghazni province’s Qarabagh district to arrest two smugglers.
The Taliban has previously reported the arrest of Pak weapons smugglers.
Following the fall of the Afghan government, military equipment is said to have been smuggled to neighboring countries, particularly Pakistain.
It was recently reported that US weapons used in Afghanistan had been transported to Indian Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... via Pakistain. Indian officials are reported to have announced the discovery of the weapons.

[NEWS.YAHOO] The former British spy who wrote an infamous dossier about Donald Trump ...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election... 's dealings in Russia told Sky News on Sunday that sources had told him that Russian President Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... is seriously ill.RemingtonChristopher Steele, who led MI6's Russia desk and worked as a spy in Moscow for years, told Sky News: "Certainly, from what we're hearing from sources in Russia and elsewhere, is that Putin is, in fact, quite seriously ill." If you can't trust Christopher Steele who can you trust?
Claims about the 69-year-old leader's health have circulated for months. On Saturday, Ukraine's head of military intelligence, Maj. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, told Sky that Putin is in a "very bad psychological and physical condition and he is very sick."
Budanov went on to suggest that the purported illness had incited plans within Russia for a coup.
In his interview with Sky, Steele suggested that Putin's health is "an element" of his decision-making in Ukraine.
"It's not clear exactly what this illness is — whether it's incurable or terminal, or whatever," he said. "But certainly, I think it's part of the equation."
On Thursday, New Lines Magazine said it had obtained a recording of a Russian oligarch saying Putin is "very ill with blood cancer." New Lines said it verified the oligarch's identity but was unable to authenticate the claims in the recording.
It is all but impossible to confirm rumors about Putin's health, which describe a panoply of ailments. The Russian investigative news outlet Proekt said in early April that the leader had received dozens of visits from a thyroid-cancer specialist.
In early May, a former KGB agent, Boris Karpichkov, told The Sun, without citing sources, that "there is a serious concern that Putin is suffering from" ailments including dementia and Parkinson's disease.
The Sun's report followed weeks of tabloid speculation over the leader's appearance, including images of him appearing to steady himself while seated in a meeting with his defense minister.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets.
The blogger here is having great fun with the name and such, but the capture of New York is a bigger deal to the separatists that he lets on.
The capture of New York pushes the Ukrainian line back far enough that the near constant artillery attacks can stop after nearly seven years.
Yesterday, soldiers of the 1st DPR Mechanized Defense Battalion, with the support of the Russian army -- in particular artillery -- managed to destroy the fortified area on the outskirts of the urban-type settlement of New York, renamed by the Ukrainian side from Novgorodske several years ago.
The defense there was held by units of the 25th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were later replaced by the defense units. Russian artillery literally plowed up the fortified area, forcing the Ukrainian Teroboronists to abandon their positions and retreat. Allied forces entered the settlement today. Teroboronists are local levies. Kiev prolly removed regular Ukrainian forces and nationalist militias to the lines elsewhere.
Now Americans will be able to hear on the news:
"Ukrainian military placed heavy weapons in a school in New York" or "Russian paratroopers kicked out the leaders of New York after taking the city" There's Russian humor, and there's dry Russian humor. The joke was neither.
It was not possible to sail away to the Turks with the last steamer
This is precisely the surrender. No one talks about any exchange, extradition and sending to Ukraine, etc.
Treatment => captivity. Transfer to hospitals on the territory of the DPR, where they will be under guard until they are cured. And after the cure, those guilty of war crimes will face charges. The rest will remain in the status of prisoners of war
Apparently, the whole ones will follow. The morale of the militants who have taken refuge in Azovstal is on the brink. Today, the first nine fighters voluntarily came out and surrendered.

The second wave came after the Berlin Wall fell, which includes Moslems
To state it explicitly: among them were the Tsarnaev clan — Chechens from Kyrgyzstan — only two of whom went on to blow up the Boston Marathon with Al Qaeda-style pressure cooker bombs. And thus we circle back to the War on Terror.

Siru Murugesan, described by Project Veritas as a senior engineer at the company, said it was 'commie as f***'
He said many employees were angry and worried about Elon Musk's takeover of the company, and 'did all we could, to like revolt against it'
Murugesan said that Twitter had operated an extremely left-wing, lax culture where people could take any time off they wanted and not worry about profit
He told the undercover operative that there was 'bias' against conservatives, and said: 'Twitter does not believe in free speech'

"not worry about profit"
They been loosing money for years. Their money stream appears to be 'burn through cash, sell overpriced stock, repeat'. I kinda wondered why a successful billionare like Musk would want to get involved in it.

Good question. Maybe it isn't about the money. Platforms like Twitter and Facebook have become the modern town square. Right now they are under the control of people who really do not have America's best interests at heart. Removing that control would be a noble thing, even more so than terraforming Mars.
He may be playing with them, allowing them to destroy themselves.
Could be. There does seem to be a meltdown in progress. Estimated bot count has gone up from 5% to 20%. At the very least, that is going to affect the sale price.

The issue is whether you view management's job as maximizing returns to stockholders or maximizing benefits to "stakeholders". "Stakeholders" has no clear definition, but sort of means "people the right kind of people like". Or if you prefer, "Bullshit talks and money walks."

[NewsFrontInfo] 22:15 As a result of the shelling in the Petrovsky district, on the street. Shestakova, a man and a woman were wounded. They are currently receiving medical care. 21:10 Ukrainian nationalists opened fire on a school and residential buildings in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk.

n.p. Avdievka - n.p. Yasinovataya: five missiles fired from BM-21 Grad;

18:00 Advancing on the enemy grouping in the Avdievka area, a separate assault battalion "Somalia" with heavy fighting captured a key height on the eastern flank - the village of Velikaya Novoselka-2. This will ensure a comfortable advancement of the DPR forces in this direction. It was almost completely destroyed by the artillery of the retreating forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

n.p. Avdievka - n.p. Vasilyevka: two missiles fired from BM-21 Grad.

15:38 Water supply in Donetsk remains for about 20-25 days -- Vitaly Kizhaev, General Director of the State Unitary Enterprise of the DPR "Water of Donbass".
15:25 Advancing on the suburb of Avdievka, the fighters of the separate assault battalion "Somalia" took possession of American anti-tank weapons. They were abandoned by the retreating Ukrainian military. Shows the battalion commander with the call sign "Boycott".
15:12 The removal of the Ukrainian wounded from Azovstal has begun, they will be taken to hospitals on the territory of the DPR.
15:10 Fighting in the cities resumes again. Severodonetsk, ahead, obviously, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and others. And if the experience of Mariupol says something, then one of the main conclusions is the need for the troops to have specialized heavy engineering assault units designed to operate in fortified areas, in particular in urban areas.
They must have special weapons, including heavy infantry fighting vehicles and tanks for urban combat, obstacle and demining vehicles, heavy bulldozers and tractors, and, of course, infantry specially trained for operations in these conditions - with appropriate support, including a large number of drones that allow you to look and behind the house, and inside the house.
Such units would be useful in Mariupol, and in Severodnetsk-Lysichansk and in many other places. Of course, we must be aware that even if we start creating them now, they most likely will not have time for this operation. But the experience of urban battles that our army is now receiving at a high price should not disappear without a trace - especially since no one promised the absence of new wars in the future.
And yes, there have already been such units in our history. They were called ShISBR - assault engineer-sapper brigades. They fought in Stalingrad, broke through the German fortifications on the Dnieper and in Belarus, stormed the forts and fortresses of Posen, Breslau, Koenigsberg, Budapest, and finally Berlin. After the war, these units were disbanded, but now, apparently, it is time to remember them.
All the banners are in place, the regalia as a choice: the 6th assault engineer-sapper Rivne, or the 11th assault engineer-sapper Zaporozhye-Budapest that liberated Odessa, or the 12th assault engineer-sapper Melitopol, which fought in the Donbass, and others.
14:52 In the region of Kramatorsk, Ukrainian militants blew up another tank with chemicals. A little later, the Muscovites will once again be accused of using chemical weapons, and after some time their own administration will refute this. That was the case the previous three times.
14:50 Two kindergartens "Ivushka" and "Zvyozdochka" have resumed their work in the city of Shchastia of the LPR. They stopped working in February 2022 due to the outbreak of hostilities. In the nursery-garden "Ivushka", designed for 130 children, five groups are now opening, the institution will be attended by 86 children.
14:42 From the side of the armed formations of Ukraine, shelling was recorded from the direction of the settlement. Vrubovka on n.p. Youth with the use of artillery guns 152mm (five shells) - Representation of the LPR in the JCCC.
14:41 Shelling was recorded from the side of the VFU in the direction: n.p. Avdievka - n.p. Yasinovataya: four BM-21 Grad missiles were fired.
14:20 As a result of yesterday's artillery shelling of N. p. Zolote-5 damaged two apartment buildings - the representative office of the LPR in the JCCC.
14:14 They took Novoselovka Second. Regarding the talk about the Avdievka cauldron. De facto, of course, it is not surrounded, since there is a possibility of supply through Orlovka, although the enemy lost the opportunity to use the Konstantinovka-Avdievka road with the loss of Novobakhmutovka and Novoselovka-2.
However, since the road from Orlovka is periodically blocked by artillery, this allows us to talk about the type of operational environment of Avdievka, since there are problems with the safe supply of the group defending the Avdievka fortification. It seems that the real cauldron will begin there when permanent fire control is established over the Avdievka-Orlovka road.
14:00 Information was received through the operational line of the DPR JCCC about the wounding of a civilian born in 1955. as a result of the shelling of the VFU n.p. Novoselovka at st. Artem, 23. The victim was hospitalized in the Yasinovatsky central district hospital.
13:51 In Volnovakha, the monument to the Soldiers-Liberators and the memorial to the "Victims of Fascism" have been restored. Residents of Volnovakha, with the assistance of the All-Russian People's Front, restored the monument to the Liberator Soldiers and the memorial to the Victims of Fascism, erected during the Soviet Union.
13:30 Shelling from the side of the VFU was recorded in the following directions:
n.p. Avdievka - n.p. Vasilievka: four missiles were fired from the BM-21 Grad.
n.p. Avdievka - n.p. Mineral: four missiles fired from BM-21 Grad.
12:49 Information was received via the operational line of the DPR JCCC about damage as a result of shelling of the VFU in Donetsk at the following addresses:
Petrovsky district:
- st. Architects, 21 - MBOU "Gymnasium No. 107 of the city of Donetsk No. 107";
- st. Petrovsky, 189, apt. 1 - multi-apartment residential building.

08:10 A source in the OP said that the technologists of the Office of the President launched an anti-crisis for Azovstal in order to shift the focus from the Azov regiment to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, border guards, and police officers.
Bankovaya is well aware that no one will allow even the wounded to change the soldiers of AZOV, but the rest have a chance to shift the focus from the future “zrada”, now messages are being launched that Azovstal is not only national battalions.
08:00 The total number of recorded victims in the liberated territories of the DPR is 1,362 people, incl. 71 children.
[FreeBeacon] Steve Schmidt's abasement makes public what we've known for a long time
No Books. No Money. Just the Truth. That's the title of the meandering Substack post Steve Schmidt threw up last week at the tail end of a two-day Twitter bender. In that time, he didn't take more than an hour away from the keyboard, tapping out stilted and overwrought attacks against the late war hero John McCain and his daughter, Meghan.
Since then, he's widened the aperture, lashing out at the living, from Republican lawmakers (New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts) to journalists (Maggie Haberman, Matt Lewis, Jonah Goldberg) and another subset of former colleagues (sorry, Lincoln Project).
Schmidt, in what is obviously a mental unraveling, denies any responsibility for McCain's decision to tap Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008. He claims he didn't even sit down with Palin until after McCain had made his choice and that, in the end, he didn't even vote for the old man.
"This was a lapse in John's judgment, not mine," he writes. "My mistake was leaving John McCain alone in a room with her." Schmidt elaborated days later in an interview with the Kyiv Post. "The first time I had a conversation with her was after the decision had been made," he said of Palin, adding that he went "bananaramas" over the decision—whatever that means.
Well, there was a book! It was called Game Change, and Schmidt and his fellow turncoat Nicolle Wallace were the primary sources for it. The book eventually earned Schmidt a red-carpet appearance with Woody Harrelson, who played him on the big screen.
According to Game Change, Palin's vetting was hardly outsourced. The authors describe an hours-long conversation between Schmidt, Palin, and McCain aide Mark Salter that took place before her selection at the Flagstaff, Ariz., home of McCain supporter Bob Delgado. Schmidt "wanted to be sure Palin was ready for what she'd face and would toe the line."
But he and Salter, by their own account, dropped the ball. "They asked her nothing to plumb the depths of her knowledge about foreign or domestic policy," the book recounts. "They didn't explore her preparedness to be vice president. They assumed she knew as much as the average governor, and that what she didn't know, she would pick up on the fly. They weren't searching for problems. They were looking for a last-second solution." Read the rest at the link

23:44 Putin has become so personally involved in the war in Ukraine that he makes operational and tactical decisions "at the level of a colonel or brigadier general," The Guardian reports, citing Western military sources. According to sources, the President of the Russian Federation helps to manage the movement of troops in the Donbass.
The sources also claim that Putin still works closely with Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces: "We believe that Putin and Gerasimov take part in tactical decision-making at the level that we usually expect from a colonel or brigadier general."
23:35 Reuters reports that buses with Ukrainian servicemen from Azovstal arrived in Novoazovsk "DPR".
23:29 Kuleba asked the EU countries not to stop hard pressure on Putin in order to stop the war in Ukraine. He emphasized that with his means of propaganda, Putin can end the war at any time - for this it is enough for him to declare victory to the people of the Russian Federation.
23:11 On the border of Belarus and Ukraine, the activity of the Belarusian military is observed. According to the leadership of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus, we are talking about "protection from Ukrainians and NATO troops," Radio Svaboda writes. "Ukraine has concentrated about 10 thousand military against the Republic of Belarus in the direction of Rivne. All are armed, all with military weapons, so there may be some kind of provocation," the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Republic of Belarus explained.
23:08 In the occupied Energodar, the Russians were instructed to prepare the city for the so-called "referendum". Propagandists want to create a picture about the alleged desire of the locals to join Russia and seize the city and the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the Zaporozhye OVA reports.
23:03 In the Kharkiv region, there remains a small area where Russian troops are stationed - there is a confrontation, and soon the Ukrainian troops will reach the border, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said. According to her, the front line is now very wide, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine should actually strengthen along this huge line.
22:48 According to unconfirmed reports, about ten buses with the Ukrainian military left the Azovstal plant, Reuters writes.
22:14 The Pentagon at a closed briefing for journalists said that Ukraine is already using 74 out of 90 American M777 howitzers in combat. It also became known that the United States sent ten aircraft with military assistance to Ukraine within a day. According to the US Department of Defense, Ukrainian troops pushed the Russians back from Kharkiv to a distance of several kilometers from the border.
21:53 Three Mi-17 helicopters arrived in Ukraine from the United States, Jack Detsch, a correspondent for the American Foreign Policy magazine, said. According to him, a total of 11 Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters are scheduled to be delivered as part of an $800 million US military aid package.
21:44 In the Donetsk region, nine civilians were killed today: three in Liman, two in Avdeevka, one each in Maryinka, Klinovoe, Drobyshevo and Yekaterinovka. Another six were injured, said the head of the OVA, Pavel Kirilenko.
21:32 Russian media show footage of allegedly transporting wounded Ukrainian soldiers from Azovstal to a hospital in the "DNR". Earlier today, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced an agreement reached, according to which the wounded defenders of Azovstal will be taken to hospitals in the "DPR". The Ukrainian side did not comment on this.
Later, the commander of the Azov regiment, Denis Prokopenko, recorded a video message in which he stated that "in order to save lives, the entire Mariupol garrison is following the decision of the high military command." What kind of decision, he did not specify.

10:43 Borrell doubts that the EU will be able to agree today on the issue of an oil embargo against Russia: "Of course, we will discuss this, and we will try to unblock the situation, but I cannot guarantee this, because the opposition is very strong."
10:26 The process of Sweden's accession to NATO may take about a year, Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said. She stressed that on this path, Sweden is ready to engage in dialogue with all 30 member countries of the alliance, including Turkey.
10:22 A missile attack on the Odessa region was carried out by strategic aircraft, OK Pivden reported. The object of tourist infrastructure was hit, buildings were destroyed, a fire broke out. Also, the enemy continues to attack the damaged and inoperative bridge across the Dniester Estuary. Previously, two adults were injured and a small child was seriously injured.
10:19 The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO "would be a mistake with far-reaching consequences," and "no one should have any illusions that Russia will simply put up with it." At the same time, Moscow's reaction "will depend on specific steps taken by Stockholm and Helsinki."
10:17 The New York Times writes that the complete failure of the Russian military operation to cross the Seversky Donets River was one of the deadliest episodes of the war. Russian losses could reach up to 485 people, more than 80 pieces of equipment were also destroyed.
10:11 In Kiev, public transport fares have been resumed today, the Klovska metro station has also been opened, the Kyiv City State Administration reported.
09:55 Ukrainian forces blew up the railway bridges between Rubizhne and Severodonetsk in order to contain Russian troops, said the head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai. According to him, the invaders suffer losses and retreat on the outskirts of Severodonetsk, but do not stop.
09:43 In Odessa, Russian troops hit the recreation center, people's deputy Alexei Goncharenko said.
09:24 The Ingulsky district of Nikolaev underwent enemy fire in the morning, reports Suspіlne. Because of the shelling, a fire broke out in a furniture store, a car parked next to the store caught fire. Not far from the scene, the remains of a cluster warhead of a multiple rocket launcher were found.
09:15 Russia has de facto terminated the cooperation agreement with NATO, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said: "The Russian government has made it clear that the Founding Act between NATO and Russia is worth nothing more. Therefore, we should now recognize that this basic act was unilaterally torn apart by Russia, not NATO."
09:13 Adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, denied the information of the Russian media that Ukrainian defenders with white flags came out of Azovstal: "If you trust the sources of the invaders, they have already taken everyone prisoner three times in Mariupol." According to him, now the Russians do not stop trying to enter or block the exit from the bunkers. All ground operations are carried out only on the perimeter of the plant, no global approximation occurs, which is why the density of shelling is growing.
09:00 The head of the Kharkiv OVA Oleg Sinegubov said that the fighters of the 227th battalion of the 127th brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ousted the Russians and restored the border sign on the state border section.
08:58 Blinken is convinced that Ukraine will survive the war: "President Putin unleashed this brutal and unprovoked war, thinking that he could destroy Ukraine as an independent country and divide NATO. Instead, he only strengthened the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. NATO is stronger, more combat-ready, more united than ever."
08:56 InformNapalm reported that Russia is preparing provocations in Mariupol with the participation of captured Ukrainian servicemen and civilians abducted by Russians. According to the publication, the invaders intend to bring up to 2,000 captured people to Mariupol, send reconnaissance troops to the city, who were ordered to take gas masks without fail, and six tank trucks, the contents of which are unknown.
InformNapalm analysts suggest that the Russian command may use the prisoners to create a picture in the Russian propaganda media that the defenders of Azovstal allegedly surrendered, and then try to use the contents of the tanks (possibly chemicals) to “smoke out” the real defenders from their positions.
Today, Russian propaganda media are already reporting that a group of ten Ukrainian soldiers allegedly came out of the cellars of Azovstal with white flags.
08:49 British intelligence reports that the deployment of Belarusian special operations forces along the border with Ukraine is likely to delay Ukrainian troops in the area, so they will not be able to be transferred to support operations in the Donbass.
08:45 The Russian military satellite, which on the night of April 30 was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome into a near-polar orbit on the Angara-1.2 rocket, could not stay there and will burn up in the atmosphere. The head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, “advertised” this launch in social networks with a message that the letter Z was depicted on the rocket body.
US astronaut Scott Kelly tweeted: "A Russian rocket with a Z on its side launched a military satellite that failed. It appears that the Z symbol representing war crimes has now also become synonymous with epic failure."
08:36 Russia announced the nationalization of the Russian assets of the Renault Group. Moscow Mayor Sobyanin announced that he had decided to take the Renault plant to the balance of the city and resume the production of cars "under the historical Moskvich brand."
08:24 The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that he spoke on the phone with Reznikov, among other things, they discussed the needs of Ukraine on the battlefield. Austin also informed Reznikov about the results of his recent conversation with Shoigu.
08:10 In the Lugansk region, the Russians fired at Severodonetsk yesterday, two people died on the spot, another one was hospitalized, said the head of the OVA Sergey Gaidai.
07:35 The enemy is trying to restrain the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine north of Kharkov and prevent them from reaching the state border of Ukraine, and is also preparing offensive operations by forces of units concentrated in the Izyum region, the General Staff reports in the morning summary .
06:31 Mayor of Nikolaev Alexander Senkevich reports explosions in the city and asks to remain in shelters or to observe the rule of two walls.
06:20 In Ukraine, 90% of people will fall below the poverty line if the war lasts more than a year, the UN says. As a result of the Russian invasion, half of Ukrainian enterprises have been closed, the other half are experiencing difficulties. The UN believes that if the war drags on for more than a year, the economic achievements of the past two decades may be lost.
05:17 The American Institute for the Study of War believes that the Russians are likely to focus on the capture of Severodonetsk, and not on reaching the administrative borders of the Donetsk region. Russian troops have likely given up on the goal of completing a large-scale cordon of Ukrainian units from Donetsk to Izyum to capture the Luhansk region.
Analysts note that Russian troops are likely to try to hold the line west of Volchansk in order to protect their land lines from Belgorod to Izyum. It is unclear whether they will succeed. Russian troops did not advance in the Slavic direction due to an unsuccessful offensive in the Izyum region.
Failed attempts by the Russians to cross the Seversky Donets at Kremennaya could push Russian operations further east. According to the ISW forecast, the Russians will finally leave their positions near Kharkov and in the near future, most likely, a Ukrainian counteroffensive will begin in the Izyum region.
At the same time, Russian forces are fortifying the occupied settlements in the south, which indicates that the occupying troops seek to establish permanent control in the region.
04:51 Germany will refuse to import oil from Russia until the end of the year, even if the EU does not reach an agreement on this issue as part of a new package of sanctions, Bloomberg writes, citing government sources. Work on concluding deals with alternative suppliers is underway, the German authorities are confident that they will be able to resolve logistical issues within 6-7 months.
[IsraelTimes] TV says incident came as IAF fighters departed area after alleged strike last week and they were not in danger; move could signal a significant shift in Moscow’s ties with Israel
Russian forces opened fire on Israeli jets with advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missiles as they allegedly attacked targets in northwestern Syria last week, Channel 13 news reported Monday, in what could signal a significant shift in Moscow’s attitude to Israel.
According to the unsourced report, the incident occurred on Friday as the Israeli air force bombed several targets near the city of Masyaf in northwestern Syria.

Wait. What? Syrians fire a missile that downs a Russian plane and Russia blames Israel? Is everyone in Russia a whiny bully?

yes it was whiny
Per reports, the Israeli jet positioned itself so that a Russian plane was between the S-300 battery and the Israeli jet. The S-300 radar, operated by Syrians, locked onto the Russian plane by mistake.

They got tired of keeping their mouths shut. Now they’re fighting to take back the Democratic Party in New York State, ink blotting one race at a time.
[NYTIMES] The organization, the New York Solidarity Network, views itself as a counterweight to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement and the Democratic Socialists of America.
In the past year, the left-wing effort to boycott Israel over its treatment of Palestinians has won over The Harvard Crimson and the Irish novelist Sally Rooney. It’s even affected ice cream: Ben & Jerry’s has refused to sell its confections in the occupied territories.
It has also made inroads in New York, home to the world’s second-largest Jewish community, where the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement has gotten support from the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, the influential far-left political group.
But now a new group, backed by a billionaire hedge fund manager,
Lots of those around nowadays. Which bankster Jooooo is it?
is seeking to counter that movement by creating a political action network to support candidates in state legislative and local races who embrace Israel, and oppose candidates who do not.
The group, the New York Solidarity Network, will act something like a local American Israel Public Affairs Committee, commonly known as Aipac,
...AIPAC, actually, which looks ever so much more substantial. No doubt the New York Times editor mistook the acronym for a simple name, like George...
according to several individuals who have spoken with its organizers. Like Aipac, the New York network is set up as a membership organization whose leaders will encourage donors to give to candidates they regard as being pro-Israel. It has not ruled out the idea of creating its own political action committee.
The organization will oppose candidates aligned with initiatives like the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, which encourages the shunning of Israeli businesses to end “Israel’s apartheid regime.”
Appearing to be among the first Israel-focused organizations in the nation to seek to influence elections at the local level, the group has hired Moonshot Strategies, a lobbying firm with close ties to the administration of Mayor Eric Adams, to help it choose which races to focus on. (Fabien Levy, a spokesman for the mayor, said Mr. Adams has no knowledge of the group.)
Corey Johnson, the former City Council speaker, has signed on as a consultant. The board also has the backing of Daniel S. Loeb, the billionaire hedge fund manager,
...a typically lefty of his profession, Columbia classmate and Friend of Obama, with a penchant for sending caustically evaluatory letters to his target executives explaining what they are doing wrong. His Wikipedia page is a delight...
according to three people briefed on the organization.
New York Times journalists love basing reports on unnamed people who claim to have been told about things, as opposed to actual witnesses.
Mr. Loeb declined to comment.
The creation of the network highlights the growing fissure between the left-leaning and younger flank of the Democratic Party, which often aligns with the policies of the Democratic Socialists of America, and the party’s more traditional, centrist flank, which has long considered support for Israel an inviolable foreign policy plank. Its rise also points to the growing role that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict plays in state and local elections in the United States, where pro-boycott activists increasingly tussle with politicians who implement anti-boycott laws.
“I’m not aware of any similar organization on the state level — untethered from a national one — that has launched an effort to affect legislative elections by supporting (or not) candidates based on a litmus test of their pro-Israeli credentials,” Aaron David Miller, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, wrote in an email.
The group charges $1,000 for an individual membership and asks members to pledge at least $5,000 to a slate of “candidates, causes and projects aligned with our mission.” Its 501(c)(4) structure allows donors to remain anonymous.
The group is joining a growing field of well-funded entities, including a PAC allied with Mr. Adams, aiming to sway the New York State Legislature — whose entire body is up for re-election this year — toward more centrist politics.
Not that Hizzoner is that much more centrist — but he does find it profitable to campaign as pro-police, as far as I can tell.
The New York Solidarity Network held a kickoff cocktail party in March at the Greenwich Village townhouse of its chairman, Gary Ginsberg, a former SoftBank senior vice president.
The New York Times journalist does not mention his financial worth, so presumably he is a mere deci- or centi-millionaire. Mr. Ginsberg is a Clinton supporter...
Ritchie Torres, a congressman from the Bronx, spoke, as did Mr. Johnson, the former City Council speaker. Both declined to comment for this story.
No respect for The Old Grey Lady, it appears.
The group has cast itself as an explicit counterweight not just to the B.D.S. movement, but also to the Democratic Socialists of America, the anticapitalism group that counts Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a member.
“This is in response to rising political challenges from far-left D.S.A.-aligned candidates supporting B.D.S. and other anti-Israel positions,” Tyler Deaton, a Republican L.G.B.T.Q. activist serving as the group’s senior adviser,
... more specifically he’s been a gay marriage advocate, both within the Republican garden and reaching across the aisle...
wrote in an email, shared with The Times, that was distributed before a group event. “Anti-Israel candidates and elected leaders are on the rise, emerging from the extreme political margins on both sides.”
Mr. Deaton promised to update attendees on “recruitment of pro-Israel candidates and efforts to defeat anti-Israel candidates across New York.” He declined to share those details with The New York Times.
Quite right, too.
Jeremy Cohan, a co-chairman of the D.S.A. of New York City, took the group’s formation as a sign of his own movement’s strength.
“There is a thriving and deepening support by American Jews for Palestinian rights, and opposition to carte blanche support for Israeli policy in violating those rights,” Mr. Cohan said.
The question of Israel, its right to exist, and its treatment of Palestinians has percolated through state politics for years.
...greatly helped by the New York Times, as it happens, which objected to Israel’s existence from the beginning.
In 2016, Andrew M. Cuomo, then New York’s governor, signed an executive order barring the state from doing business with companies aligned with the B.D.S. movement. The executive order was renewed by his successor, Kathy Hochul, and remains in effect.
In 2020, the D.S.A. caused a local firestorm when it asked City Council candidates seeking its endorsement to “pledge not to travel to Israel if elected to City Council in solidarity with Palestinians living under occupation,” in a questionnaire.
“We know there’s a long tradition of boycotts and sanctions being used against persecutory regimes,” Mr. Cohan said last week. “The U.S. is sanctioning Russia right now for the crimes it’s committing, and so we think this is a perfectly legitimate and important tool in applying pressure on the Israeli state to change its political behavior.”
The Jewish community is, of course, not monolithic; Jeremy Ben-Ami, the president of J Street,
...Mr. Soro’s bespoke tool for undermining support of the Jewish state, like all his other tools pretending to be a grassroots movement...
described it as “a disputatious people.” And several Jewish activists noted the presence of other New York organizations with less Israel-specific aims.
But Jessica Haller, a former City Council candidate from the Bronx, said she was drawn to join the New York Solidarity Network because she felt ostracized from progressive circles as an environmentalist who also identifies as a Zionist and supports the existence of Israel. She argued it is imperative for activists like her to ensure there is a space for progressive supporters of Israel.
Ms. Haller still smarts when she recalls the backlash she experienced on an environmental justice email chain, when fellow members discovered she identified as a supporter of Israel.
“The conversation went something like this: ‘We’ve discovered she’s a Zionist so therefore she can’t possibly take racial justice seriously,’” Ms. Haller said. “I was really shaken to my core.”

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) members were killed when an Iraqi Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... targeted their location in southwestern Erbil province on Monday following a fresh operation conducted to eliminate remnants of the group.
Iraqi warplanes launched an airstrike in the mountains of Makhmour in Erbil province on Monday, resulting in the deaths of six suspected ISIS members, Iraq's top military spokesperson Yehia Rasool said in a tweet.
The Peshmerga and Iraqi army conducted a joint operation against ISIS hideouts in Mount Qarachogh on Sunday, an area synonymous with ISIS activity situated in the security vacuum between Erbil and Baghdad.
The aforementioned operation led to the deaths of two ISIS members after caves and tunnels that the organization sheltered in were destroyed.
Rasool said the strikes "came in conjunction with the heroes of the Peshmerga, and this operation is a continuation of the series of joint efforts undertaken by the Iraqi forces to combat the remains of terrorism."
Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
[ColonelCassad] Vladlen Tatarsky https://t.me/boris_rozhin/48861 for the evening reports on today's surrendered at Azovstal.
1. 20 seriously wounded, 31 relatively healthy surrendered at Azovstal.
2. One of the resistance groups surrendered, which actually broke away from the main group.
3. Surrendered under guarantees of saving lives.
4. No one promised to exchange them.
5. "Kalina" is just a mouthpiece.
PS. Regarding all the talk about the exchange of characters with Azovstal, it is important to understand that this exchange is physically impossible.
According to Ukraine, after all the exchanges, Ukraine is holding about 500 prisoners of war soldiers and officers of the Russian Federation, the DPR and the LPR.
At the disposal of the Russian Federation, DPR and LPR up to 4,500-5,000 prisoners of war soldiers and officers. Plus, up to 1.5-2,000 people are still sitting on Azovstal itself, of which up to 600-650 are wounded. It is impossible to physically exchange such a number according to the 1 to 1 scheme, Ukraine simply has no one to exchange them for.
Nevertheless, rumors are circulating about possible exchanges of wounded UAF soldiers for Russian prisoners of war. No one has officially confirmed this yet.
The leader of the Nazis at Azovstal recorded a pitiful video, where he seemed to justify himself before surrendering.
We are waiting for the development of events - there is a feeling that there is not long left.

Photos from the first stage of the surrender of the remnants of the Mariupol grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at Azovstal.
The wounded are taken to the Novoazovsk hospital (where, according to plans that have become known, "Azov" was supposed to attack in the spring of this year).
The prisoners are taken to the colony in Yelenovka, where a large number of Ukrainian prisoners of war are kept, including those who capitulated at the plant named after Ilyich. Photos at the link
[AlAhram] Around 40 people, many of them civilian volunteers with the army, have been killed in suspected jihadist attacks in Burkina Faso ...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other... , local sources and security officials said on Monday.
In the northern region of Sahel, around 25 people were killed in two assaults on Saturday, including 13 members of the VDP volunteers, a leader of the force told AFP.
In Kompienga, near Burkina's southeastern border with Togo and Benin, about 15 non-combatants were killed on Saturday when their convoy was attacked while under VDP escort, a security source in the region said.
A local inhabitant said three VDP volunteers also died in this attack, and called for help for the maimed, which he said numbered nearly a dozen.
In another raid overnight Saturday, assailants carried out a coordinated attack on police and gendarmes' posts in Faramana, near the frontier with Mali, causing two maimed, a security source said.
One of the poorest countries in the world, Burkina Faso has been battered by jihadist raids since 2015, when holy warriors began mounting cross-border attacks from Mali.
More than 2,000 people have died and almost two million fled their homes.
Mutinous troops, angered at mounting losses, ousted elected president Roch Marc Christian Kabore in January.
The new strongman, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, says tackling the violence and restoring security is his top priority.
After several weeks of relative calm after the coup, jihadist attacks resumed, and scores of civilians and members of the security forces have died.
Some of the heaviest losses have been suffered by the Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland (VDP), a civilian auxiliary force set up in December 2019 to take over some basic security duties from the army.
Recruits are given two weeks' military training and then work alongside the military, typically carrying out surveillance, information-gathering or escort duties.
A security source said there had been a "series of attacks which have mainly targeted Volunteers."
Of the two latest assaults in the north, one occurred at Guessel, where "around 20 people, including eight VDP" were killed, while the other took place at Markoye, where five volunteers and one civilian died, the VDP officer said.
The latest attack came a week after an ambush in the north in which 10 volunteers were killed, along with two civilians.

Video shows Russians firing thermobaric missiles on Ukraine-controlled land
Thermobaric weapons release a flammable vapour before igniting it
That causes a ripple-like explosion capable of vaporizing bodies close to the explosion and demolishing buildings or rupturing human organs in the blast
Yet unlike cluster bombs, their use is not banned under international law

Hilarious: "Putin's soldiers have so far failed to achieve their military objectives in eastern Ukraine..."
This, on the day of total capitulation by the most ferocious of Ukraine's Nazi shock troops, the Azov Battalion fuckers who started the whole mess in 2014.
Mariupol is FINALLY rid of these vermin -- all but a few dozen mutilated wrecks shuttled off to hospitals. The biggest story of the war so far, and this gutter tabloid, on orders from MI6, not only ignores it, they blatantly lie about it. Lovely.

Trolls aside, If the Russians are using their thermobaric weapons, this is an escalation, not unlike they did in Georgia. They seem to be following the same model they used in Georgia. Attacking cities, then leaving them in the rubble with no real intent to occupy. They are going to be here a while, regardless of the misinformation. They know we dont have the stomach for a battalion size loss. We will stay out.

Love the pathetic attempts to spin the complete and total surrender by the Nazi Azov Battalion in the biggest and most important battle of the war so far.
Look at the press in the US and U.K. and compare it to coverage by publications in the rest of the world.
In Australia, Singapore, India, China, Greece, South Africa etc the leading media companies all use the correct term, "surrender." You can see photos of these battered, mutikated, thoroughly defeated scum, similar to the photos of the Nazi soldiers who surrendered at Stalingrad.
But in the propaganda-fueled USA and U.K. we get the following:
the brave "rescue" of "heroes"
an "end of their combat mission"
an "evacuation" of "heroes" after weeks of "successful Ukrainian counter-attacks"
🤡
Such obvious fucking liars.
So pathetic that the only way for us to get objective and reliable coverage is to seek foreign media outlets in countries like China or India. This is how you steal $60 billion with lies and misdirection.
were almost certainly concocted to cover up the announcement of the complete surrender of the last remnants of nazi #AzovBattalion i
How us giving $60 billion to known Nazis "staying out"? Or maybe your "we" doesn't refer to Americans?
Biden and about 90% of Congress are plunging us Americans into this mess, head first.
So foolish. In Iraq we destroyed a third world country's entire infrastructure before we put any troops on the ground. Here we're sending some surplus junk to a fight in the front yard of a nuclear-armed Russia that hasn't even begun to use any of its awesome firepower against Ukraine. This is the world-beating stupidity of Biden and his Freakshow on display. Unbelievable.
But hey, it's early days. Let's see how much damage they can do when we add recession to hyperinflation and the price of unleaded hits $10 a gallon.

Glenn Greenwald has catalogued all examples of US and IK news outlets that correctly called Azov Battalion neo-Nazis for years suddenly adopting Newspeak and scrubbing all references to their fascist ideology and racist terrorizing.
@ggreenwald: "Western media spent years warning the Azov Battalion and related militias were not just neo-Nazis but were the most powerful neo-Nazi force in Europe given their integration into the military and state.
"That's now not only taboo to say but these same outlets have renounced this."
TIME magazine, Jan. 2021:
Like, share, recruit: How Ukraine's white-supremacist militia uses Facebook to radicalize and train new members https://ti.me/3qr2Oqn
"Back in 2015, when James Clapper wanted Obama to flood Ukraine with lethal arms -- something Obama opposed because, he said, Ukraine wasn't vital enough to the US -- I detailed the power of Azov using mainstream media sources. This is all now erased:
theintercept.com
Clapper Calls for Arming Ukrainian Forces: Who Would That Actually Empower?
"Azov's power doesn't justify a Russian invasion of Ukraine. But that doesn't make it irrelevant.
"At the very least, efforts should be made to prevent the massive amount of lethal arms flooding Ukraine ending up in their hands. And we shouldn't make stars of their adherents.
"Among so many examples, a Guardian article headlined: "Azov fighters are Ukraine's greatest weapon and may be its greatest threat." It describes the "neo-Nazi leanings of many of its members."
You can't just re-write history when convenient.

So typical of you to desperately deny what every American and British outlet has reported for nearly ten years and what our own government and every human rights organization recognized.
The New York Times called them neo-Nazis. The Guardian did so. So did the Telegraph, Washington Post, ABC News, TIME magazine and nearly every other major news organization.
Fascist, far-right, racist, Nazi... use whatever term for racist and etho-nationalist organized terror you prefer.

Winkey, Not sure if your serious or just a trolling. Thermobarics kept us, I'll clarify--Troops, out of Georgia. Thermobarics dont burn all the bodies, its an over pressure system. Shatter the body at a cellular level. Second, calling the Ukrainians Nazis is nothing but propaganda that has stuck here in the US. The government is no more or less corrupt than the rest of the Eastern European countries.Stopping Russian expansion is important, if we can help by sending equipment, I'm in. there was a 300 million dollar contract with LockMart to make more Javelins. This is a good example of the money spend. We dont send much cash to Ukraine, we send equipment made in America, so the funding is pumped back into our economy. When we send troops, the cash flow starts.

Well, to make it clearer: I don't care. The people they're fighting are also socialist racist ethno-supremacists. Putin funded (and sent troops to create) the "break-away republics", and some Ukrainians took up arms -- and unpleasant ideas -- while resisting.
Don't care. Putin made the mess. He created "Nazis" by reviving memories of the Holodomor. His invasion gave them an opportunity to be more than local thugs. He can end the invasion, stop supporting the terrorists in Eastern Ukraine, and the Azovs would just be local thugs again.
(And for that matter, he's sent Russian neo-Nazis to the Ukraine. Why aren't you condemning Russia for them?)

Just learned that the rumor about the Russian capture of a retired USN Admiral was FALSE.
You are a darling, Besoeker. Thank you!
For those who missed it yesterday, Besoeker is referring to Acapulco Joe’s triumphant comment yesterday:
We're talking about the biggest boondoggle ever, presided over by a corrupt US administration whose president actually intervened in Ukrainian politics in order to protect his and his son's million dollar per year payoff by Ukrainian thieves. YJCMTSU.
Again, this isn't $300 million. It's SIXTY BILLION.
This mind-bending lunacy is occurring while this same administration is iiterally destroying our economy.
Every single top economist now says what these assholes have done is a catastrophic mistake. Larry Summers, Ken Rogoff and all the other Democrat economists are saying we can't afford this shit. Jesus, even Ben Nernanke just came out and said we're now going to have stagflation.
Do the math. Face reality. This is the most insane policy that this demented Freakshow has come up with so far -- and they're just getting started.
The only rational response to which is, FUCK NO. Not with our money.
You guys are such saps. Biden and his freaks, Pelosi, McConnell and the rest of our incompetent and lying Congress is so obviously trying to distract us from their across-the-board failures with this pointless war.
"Russian expansionism" - LOL
This is just a civil war in a corner of SE Europe that doesn't remotely affect you and me. We have no vital interest, none, in that shithole. There is literally nothing that justifies us getting involved.
If anything we should be helping Russia. We need them against China. Instead we've created a Chinese-Russian-Indian alliance -- against us. Unbelievably stupid.
Stop being so naive. You're just being played by the stupidest, most corrupt and incompetent US administration in our history.

After near a century of facing off COMMIES they are seen as way more bad than NAZIs who were only around from 1933-1945 along with another decade or 2 hiding in jungles in South America.
The hunt and execution of Che is still something we're proud off.
Perhaps a tune from the past might clue you in:
Sing a song of quetzals, pockets full of peace! The junta's in the palace, they've taken out a lease. The Commies are in hiding, just across the street; To the embassy of Mexico they beat a quick retreat. And pistol-packing Peurifoy looks mighty optimistic For the land of Guatemala is no longer Communistic.
#28
Winky, you really are a flaming moron if you think we wouldn't have stagflation regardless of the Ukraine or not. I'd much rather spend money blowing up Russians and their minions than see it going to some craptastic program like midnight basketball. Compared to all the money we waste in this country in government boondoggles, getting our weapons combat tested without blood is a bargain. If the Azov crew is killing russians, good for them. They're far less scummy than all the African and Middle Eastern vermin we've showered with money for decades.
I'm bored of these trolls, Putin needs to flush these turds and hire new ones.

Think, people, THINK. It's not 1995. Clinton is not president and our deficit is not measured in the millions. It's 32 fucking TRILLION you goofs. We don't have $60 billion to piss away on another wag the dog adventure by another corrupt failed Democrat administration.
The threat is 1) this insane administration and 2) China. Putin doesn't threaten us in the slightest.
Put aside your Cold War-era blinders and face the reality of where we are in 2022.

What's new? Every few years since the end of the Cold War, a US administration has to create another faux-threat to justify another pointless intervention that wastes American money, completely trashes the foreign country and ends in failure. Saddam! Assad! Khadaffi! Putin!
Same old shit designed to dupe the rubes. Pay no attention to our failures!
Even Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are laughing out loud at this administration's pathetic attempts to redirect. Bezos yesterday: "Look! A squirrel!"

No, WE'RE being robbed by a shitty fourth world regime's kleptocrats in cahoots with our own politicians who are destroying everything here at home.
Why can't you admit that this is a con job? We don't have any vital interest in that shithole. Russia does. It's their patch, and none of our business.
Go ahead, put aside your stupid insults and tell us: What is our vital interest there? Why does it justify destroying our own economy?
Why the hell are we prolonging a stupid, pointless, totally irrelevant war whose only winner is China?
Are you just shilling for the Chinese? Is that what this is all about?
I'm genuinely curious. What has invaded your brains?

Obviously, you can't articulate any vital US interest in Ukraine because there is none. It's a brutal and savage civil war that no more concerns us than the civil wars in Libya, Yemen, Somalia or any number of 4th world shitholes.
Except this one if it lasts much longer will increase China's power and influence while greatly diminishing ours.
Try again. Describe our vital interests at stake in this war.

Circling back, because I’ve been away from the internet dealing with Real Life. Or real life, because it wasn’t anything major, just something that required my presence and attention.
WTF does this attempt at sarcasm even mean?
For our anonymous visitor, I refer you to those funny things called emoticons, used eons-long in internet conversations to replace visible facial expressions, and also the typed equivalents like LOL. If I’d meant to be sarcastic, I would have added /sarc at the end, because it isn’t
fair to expect the subtler emotions to be correctly intuited, especially for those dealing in a language not their native tongue.
You obviously can't define any vital US interest that's worth building up China and destroying our and the world's economy.
Each discussion to its own thread. We’ve covered China and the deliberate impoverishment of the U.S. by the Democrats with the aid of too many Republicans — the Biden administration being only the latest example — in innumerable discussions over the past two decades. Just because you weren’t around to participate at the time does not mean we must respect your rude demand that we repeat all that in each thread about the current Russia-Ukraine unpleasantness.
It occurs to me that something of that unpleasantness results from the fact that President Putin must be at least as determined to keep Russia’s financial connections to the Bidens out of the public eye as the Bidens are to protect their Ukrainian connections. The record clearly shows that the Bidens profited massively from Russia as well as China and the Ukraine. So, dear anonymous troll, be aware that each time you reference the Bidens’ corrupt dealings in that part of the world, you threaten Russia’s interests as much as Ukraine’s.
#54
Late to the thread, I am struck by the depth, quantity and increasingly strident tone of guest Winky.Clearly A-team level and by volume, skilled at repetitive-theme argumentation as a sales technique. Given that, he fails to get that you go for the close and STOP talking. That he can't suggests ongoing oversight of his efforts, which suggests this as an assignment, not mere passion.
#55
I would also add, most sales training seminars pretty early on teach that beginning your sales pitch "You c*cks*ckers..." is not an effective approach.
Just sayin...

One I can see.
Bleed Russia dry and grind their capability down so they can't keep invading and going after NATO members. Russia would be humiliated and have a choice between a long and very public retreat or nukes.
What are you talking about? There is no "Empire." There's just Russia, the Donbas and Ossetia. None of the latter two regions has anything to do with NATO or the West.
keepinvading and going after NATO members.
Ukraine was never a "NATO member." Biden and Zelensky both said it will never be a NATO member. Russia did not invade any NATO member state; it invaded Ukraine, a war torn country bitterly divided between a Russian-leaning eastern part and an EU-leaning western part.

ref # 65
Actually no, they are valid strategic options. If you reckon that the next decade, and perhaps one thereafter, will remain the chessboard for three superpowers and several emergent regional hegemons, then grinding down and exposing the limited conventional abilities of one (Russia) serves quite well. It limits Russian economic and political alliances for years, places increasing strain on the second superpower (China) to support the decimated Russian economy and morale of the depleted partner in triangulation against the West, and chills the hegemons (India/Brazil/?) from making the wrong choice about the supposed "cleaving" of the East-West factions. Further, it allows the Third Superpower(s) (NATO/USA/Japan/Korea) to focus almost exclusively on the Pacific threat, re-industrialization, energy dominance, and economic distancing from the Chinese soft-warfare and elite-capture strategy that has so deeply damaged the West. Said distancing will weaken the over-extended Chinese economy as the West increasingly spends it money at home or elsewhere, impoverishing the growth-or-die Chinese ponsi-style business model.

Testing all sorts of weapons against Russian/Soviet ones as China's weapons are based on them and also NKor's. It's also a good time to see strategy that works against Russian/Soviet styles over time and how Russian styles adapt.
I am well aware that Taiwan is doing so in full detail likely even embedding with Ukrainian troops.
I've seen evidence that Taiwan is placing lots of stingers and older M-60 tanks in strange places to surprise potential invaders. After all in INTERESTING TIMES life can be interesting.
Also, I know US weapons developers are watching everything with immense curiosity. I expect all sorts of new toys to appear.
Although I can't keep from mumbling "Bright Pebbles" and "Rods from God".
#76
There is no "Empire." There's just Russia, the Donbas and Ossetia.
Off the top of my head:
Georgia in 2008: Russia occupied the Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions.
Moldova in the 1990s: Russia occupied Transnistria.
Crimea in 2014: Russia annexed it as a prelude to starting the first round of Donbas nonsense.
And then there are the recent hysterical threats to attack former Warsaw pact countries next if they continue to support the Ukraine.
For the romantics in President Putin’s circle, the break up of the Soviet Union, the successor state to the Russian empire, is unnatural and fated to be reversed. For the pragmatists, the break up leaves the Russian rump dangerously exposed and must be reversed.
#77
Almost everything asserted in #67 is false, to the point of being delusional.
grinding down and exposing the limited conventional abilities of one (Russia) serves quite well. It limits Russian economic and political alliances for years
This is the exact opposite of what is happening. Russia is bulking up its alliances with India and China. This is standard balancing behavior. When a super power becomes more aggressive and seeks to dominate, all the other powers seek to balance it. When the US stupidly invaded Iraq, Germany and Russia joined forces to oppose the US diplomatically and politically. The Germans and Russians and the French sought to offset what they saw as an out of control hyperpower.
The USA should be rallying all of China's powerful neighbors -- especially India and Russia -- against China. This is what Trump was trying to do. Instead, China India and Russia are drawing closer together to offset an aggressive and put of control, reckless, foolish Biden administration.
Thanks for this, though: you've shown clearly how myopic and upside down the current elite American understanding of global realities is.

India's already on Russia's side. From The American Conservative:
America Should Be Realistic About India
"America and most Western countries cannot fill the void that would be left by Russia if India were to toe the line of the Western alliance and sever its relationship with Russia. Russia is India’s largest arms supplier, its partner for the development of its supersonic missile “Brahmos,” supplier of crude at discounted rates, and an old friend. America is none of those things. The U.S. will not supply India with the much-needed arms and ammunition, even as it supplies Pakistan -- at least, not until Henry Kissinger’s doctrines are discarded by the wayside. It is not going to jointly develop supersonic missiles with India, and in fact sanctioned India for nuclear tests.
"The difference between India and America’s foreign policy approaches lies in their visions of the world. India sees a multipolar global order. America under Biden is still living the unipolar dream. As Elbridge Colby puts it 'a moralistic foreign policy turns into hypocrisy when it inevitably meets reality'."
#86
#84, #85 -- Thanks for the tangible references. So far I've only looked at the NY Post article, which says in part:
"Over time, the Russian people — who will still feel the bite of sanctions — will surely grow to understand that China will soon become a sort of imperial overlord. Chinese merchants, traders and labor will come to Russia in droves, doing what they have done to countless African nations: trade Chinese cash to prop up an evil regime in exchange for the looting of the country.
"In some respects, the coming Chinese-Russian axis is perhaps the greatest political-science experiment of all time. No nation has fallen so far, so fast, that it will need to be saved in such a manner. And knowing that China and Russia have been many times rivals in the past — they nearly went to war in 1969; so much for communist solidarity — such an arrangement may not last the test of time."
I'm not sure that's the argument you want to make, but your call.

And here's a link to the JPost story. The article is bylined January 1, and the actual title is: "Russia-China ties will be the big story of 2022 - analysis". The key graf seems to me to be:
“In 2021, Russia and south and east Asian powers pushed ahead with bilateral cooperation. At the beginning of December, Putin paid a visit to India. It was his second foreign visit for the entire year,” it says.
"The report also discusses close ties with China. “By and large, the situation on the world stage during the outgoing year often gave Putin a chance to cite Chinese wisdom. ‘One proverb, as you may know, says, “God forbid living in a time of change.” However, we are there already, whether we like it or not, and these changes are becoming deeper and more fundamental,’ Putin said while speaking at a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club think tank in October.”
"The report appears to indicate that Russia sees the recent global crisis as an opportunity. It will use this to work more closely with China, and Beijing also looks to exploit the opportunity."
Which sounds good for Russia-China-India cooperation but isn't helpfully specific. And was written before the recent events in Ukraine.

Answer: Can a small non-NATO, non-Western, former USSR country defeat the Russian Army using western military technology? i.e. Star-Link Satellite network vs Russia's walkie talkies. Foot soldier held laser guided rockets verses tanks/heavy armor. Unmanned drones vs manned aircraft. US artillery accurate at 30 miles against Russian artillery with effective range of 20 miles. Can the West's Intelligence gathering listen to every form of Russian army communication and then some (listen in on phone conversations of soldiers families)? This is a rare golden opportunity to beta test many things.
#91
The Russia-China alliance is the biggest story of the decade.
The last time I checked they were tied at the Marxist waist since Mao consolidated his power in post WW2 China. It's been rocky at times, but I don't recall them being in aligned otherwise no matter the delusions of the West. The Chinese will do what's in China's interest. If that means exploiting the nativity of westerners, so be it.
#92
While you get to beta-test your toys, the cost of your fun to America is:
- The nightmare (for the USA) alliance of China + Russia, with India refusing to follow America or join America
- a sharp divide between the West and the pro-Russia, pro-China "Rest" of the world -- with the former comprising about two dozen nations with less than half the world's GDP and the latter comprising most of the world's GDP and about 80% of its population and natural resources
- a sharp decline in usage of the dollar as the Rest of the World turns away from the US toward China and Russia
- Devastating inflation and recession aka "stagflation" that will cause America's growth rate to fall even further behind China's and India's growth rates, accelerating America's relative decline
- thanks to stagflation, a sharp decline in living standards for American workers, leading to even greater political division and social unrest
.... that's one hell of a price tag for America to pay for your little Starlink beta test.
Accelerated American decline so a few geeks can play with their toys: Unbelievably foolish.

A Chinese Doctor can't find a job in a Hospital in the US, so he opens his own clinic and puts a sign outside reading 'GET TREATMENT FOR $20 - IF NOT CURED GET BACK $100.'
An American lawyer thinks this is a great opportunity to earn $100 and goes to the clinic.
Lawyer: "I have lost my sense of taste."
Chinese: "Nurse, bring medicine from box No. 14 and put 3 drops in patient's mouth."
Lawyer: "Ugh. this is kerosene."
Chinese: "Congrats, your sense of taste is restored. Give me my $20."
The annoyed lawyer goes back after a few days to try to recover his money.
Lawyer: "I have lost my memory. I can’t remember anything."
Chinese: "Nurse, bring medicine from box no. 14 and put 3 drops in his mouth."
Lawyer (annoyed): "This is kerosene. You gave this to me last time for restoring my taste."
Chinese: "Congrats. You got your memory back. Give me $20."
The fuming lawyer pays him, then comes back a week later determined to get back $100.
Lawyer: "My eyesight has become very weak I cannot see at all."
Chinese: "Well, I don't have any medicine for that, so take this $100."
Lawyer (staring at the note): "But this is $20, not $100!”
Chinese: "Congrats, your eyesight is restored. Give me $20"

[IsraelTimes] Police say 6 cops lightly injured, at least 15 Paleostinians arrested; Red Islamic Thingy says 71 maimed as a funeral procession deteriorates into violence for second time in a week.
Paleostinians and coppers clashed fiercely in East Jerusalem on Monday night during the funeral procession of a Paleostinian man who died after being critically maimed during festivities on the Temple Mount last month.
Six officers were lightly injured by stones hurled at them by hundreds of rioters at a cemetery near Jerusalem’s Old City. Two of the officers were taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment, police said.
The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy rescue service said 71 Paleostinians were maimed from rubber bullets, stun grenades and beatings. Thirteen people required hospitalization, including two with eye injuries, it said.
Police said officers arrested 15 people, though Paleostinian media put the figure at 50.
Footage showed rocks raining on the officers at several locations throughout the funeral procession. Other clips showed fireworks being set off in the direction of police, who responded with riot dispersal measures. Police said the rioting took place both during the procession and at the gravesite, as well on Salah a-Din street. Paleostinians also damaged several vehicles during the festivities and struck a number of passers-by, according to police.
Toward the beginning of the funeral, a car accelerated toward Border Police officers securing the procession, Israeli law enforcement said. The officers fired at the vehicle’s wheels until it came to a stop. The five Paleostinians inside were then arrested. No one was harmed in the incident.
Thousands of Paleostinians participated in the funeral procession for 21-year-old Walid a-Sharif. Paleostinians said he died after being hit by a sponge-tipped bullet during the festivities on April 22. Police said he fell and hit his head while throwing rocks.
Israeli authorities returned a-Sharif’s body to his family earlier Monday evening and the latter immediately began a procession that reached the Temple Mount where a handful of participants were seen waving Paleostinian flags. "With our souls and blood, we will redeem you, martyr," the crowd chanted.
Photos from the scene showed the ambulance that transferred the body of a-Sharif with its windows broken and tires slashed. Paleostinian media claimed this was a result of the police’s riot dispersal measures.
This was the second East Jerusalem funeral in days that deteriorated into violence. Friday’s procession for Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh drew international headlines after police were filmed rushing at and beating mourners, including pallbearers when the casket was brought out of a Jerusalem hospital en route to burial, almost causing it to fall to the ground. The Israel Police has offered a series of explanations for its use of force on the day of the funeral, including claiming that a mob of "300 rioters" had seized the casket at the hospital. This was denied by Shireen Abu Akleh’s brother in an interview with The Times of Israel on Sunday.
Clashes and unrest had been breaking out at the al-Aqsa Mosque that sits atop the Temple Mount nearly every day during the holy Moslem month of Ramadan in April.
Police said a-Sharif was one of the masked youths hurling rocks when he fell over and hit his head on the stone floor. His family disputed this, saying he was hit by a sponge-tipped bullet, used by police that morning.
Police published footage of what they said was a-Sharif, his face covered in a black and white checked keffiyeh, repeatedly throwing stones and rocks at Israeli security forces.
Hours after his death, Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, said a-Sharif was a member of the terror group.
The Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... terror group issued a statement threatening Israel in the wake of a-Sharif’s death.

[Garowe] President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity, except maybe for abandoning Afghanistan... on Monday signed an order to deploy U.S. troops to Somalia amid heightened concerns about the country’s Islamic bad boy rebels, Ohfergawdsake!
known as al-Shabaab ...... the personification of Somali state failure... The move is a reversal of President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... ’s decision last year to remove nearly all 700 special operations forces that had been operating there.
Biden’s decision, confirmed by a senior administration official, comes after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin requested the deployment "to reestablish a persistent U.S. military presence in Somalia to enable a more effective fight against al-Shabaab, which has increased in strength and poses a heightened threat."
The official, who requested anonymity to discuss a decision that has not been formally announced, said American forces already in the region would be repositioned.
U.S. military commanders have been deploying U.S. forces into Somalia for short rotations since Trump ordered American troops out during his final days in office in 2021.
But Pentagon officials did not see that as an "effective long-term strategy" and had been considering recommending the redeployment for some time, according to a U.S. military official who was not authorized to publicly discuss the matter and spoken on the condition of anonymity.
Biden’s decision to sign the order was first reported by The New York Times
... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... Al-Shabaab, which has ties with al-Qaeda, has made territorial gains against Somalia’s federal government in recent months, reversing the gains of African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... peacekeepers who once had pushed the holy warriors into remote areas of the country.
Word of the deployment decision came after Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who served as Somalia’s president between 2012 and 2017, was announced on Sunday as the winner of a protracted election.

He's not inept. He really and truly is bent on destroying this country - and lining his family's and friends' pockets while he does so.
No one who cares about this country would be plunging us BACK into a worthless shithole like Somalia.
No American patriot would trash our economy, create hyperinflation, bring us to the brink of a recession - and then spend SIXTY BILLION on a totally worthless adventure in a shithole like Ukraine.
Last time, (1993) a Democrat President on the skids deployed troops to Somalia, was to cover his declining poll numbers. The group I worked with lost 3 very good people.
One of which was a good friend that I worked with for 4 years. Rest in Peace "Griz".
You didn't see the vid/pics from the other day when he arrived at the White House and his fan club and the staff ah'ed and oo'd around him while the puppet wandered aimlessly in the background?

[IsraelTimes] Authorities in Iran ...They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... have arrested a university professor on security charges and "suspicious foreign links," Iranian media reports today.
The semiofficial Mehr news agency identifies the professor as Saeed Madani, but doesn’t provide details or say when and where he was taken into custody. The report says the academic had met with allegedly suspicious foreign citizens and carried messages from them to local activists in Iran.
Madani, a sociology professor at Tehran’s government-run Allameh University, was also an activist, says Mehr. He was summoned by the courts several times in the past, and was once, in 2019, banned from traveling abroad.
A representative for Madani can’t immediately be reached for comment.
Iran has in recent weeks intensified its crackdown on dissent, including with raids on activists. Over the weekend, a statement from award-wining filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof and others said authorities recently raided offices and homes of several filmmakers and other industry professionals, arresting some of them.
Iran’s conservative authorities, many with religious sensibilities, control all the levers of power in Iran. They have long viewed many activities as part of a "soft war" by the West against the Islamic Theocratic Republic. They say Westernization is attempting to tarnish the country’s Islamic beliefs.
State media reported last Friday that authorities had arrested at least 22 demonstrators protesting sudden price hikes of subsidized staple foods. And on Saturday, Ahmad Avaei, a member of parliament from the city of Dezful in southwestern Khuzestan province, said one person was killed during the unrest.
The unrests follow Iran’s announcement earlier in the week that the cost of cooking oil, chicken, eggs and milk would rise by as much as 300%, as food prices surge across the Middle East due to global supply chain snarls and Russia’s invasion of major food exporter Ukraine.

How about better Federal Spending.
"President Joe Biden released a $6.011 trillion federal budget proposal in May 2021 for fiscal year (FY) 2022. The U.S. government estimates it will receive $4.174 trillion in revenue through Sept. 30, 2022, creating a $1.837 trillion deficit for Oct. 1, 2022."
In simpler financial terms.
The 2022 Federal Operations & Admin Overhead for the Federal Government is 144.01% MORE than Collected Revenues.
OF WHICH $3.478 Trillion is just to keep the lights on and pay everyone. Which is about 83.32% of collected revenues,
leaving 16.68% of our actual collected Tax $$$$ to do things. This in part is why THEY run $Trillion dollar deficits.

[YouTube - Sky News] The Russian Defense Ministry has said it has reached a deal to evacuate wounded Ukrainian fighters from the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol.
Ukraine's defense ministry says 264 fighters have now left the plant.
[REGNUM] An agreement was reached on the removal of wounded Ukrainian Nazis blocked on the territory of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol to the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on May 16.
As part of this agreement, a regime of silence has been declared in the area of the plant.
"On May 16, as a result of negotiations with representatives of Ukrainian military personnel blocked on the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol, an agreement was reached on the removal of the wounded," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Currently, a silence regime has been introduced in the area of the enterprise and a humanitarian corridor has been opened, along which wounded Ukrainian servicemen are delivered to a medical facility in Novoazovsk of the Donetsk People’s Republic to provide them with all the necessary assistance," the Russian military specified.

According to some reports, among them there may be about 600 wounded of varying severity.
[AlAhram] The US is set to remove five inactive turban groups from its foreign terrorist organizations list, including al-Jamaa al-Islamiya
... the State Department at the moment prefers to spell it Gama’a al-Islamiyya...
...The Islamic Group. Sunni Islamist alignment in Lebanon. The group was founded in 1952 as the Leb branch of the Moslem Brüderbund. Its current leader is Faisal Mawlawi. The party has a military wing known as the al-Fajr Forces. Currently they have 1 seat in the Lebanese Parliament... , which is blamed for terrorist attacks that have killed hundreds of coppers, civilians and tourists in Egypt.
Active since the late 1970s, the group has been blamed for a campaign of violence in Egypt, especially in the 1990s, and is designated by the country as a terrorist group.
The five groups are expected to be formally removed from the US blacklist next week, the US State Department said in notices to politicians, according to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.
Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya has been on the US foreign terrorist organizations list over the past 25 years, since 1997. This was the same year that saw a massacre by Islamist bully boyz of 71 people, including tourists, outside the Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor.
Although investigations have proved the group members were behind the massacre, the group denied in 2013 its involvement in the attack.
MAJOR ATTACKS
The Egyptian Islamist movement surfaced in the eighties and nineties with a spate of terrorist attacks aimed at overthrowing the regimes of Presidents Anwar El-Sadat and Hosni Mubarak ...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011... The group is believed to have been involved in the liquidation of President Anwar El-Sadat in 1981 during the commemoration ceremony of the 1973 victory over Israel in the October War.
The group is also believed to have been involved in the liquidation attempt against President Hosni Mubarak in 1995, along with the Islamist group Egyptian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... , and the liquidation of parliament speaker Rifaat El-Mahgoub in 1990.
Other terrorist operations have also been blamed on the group, including the murder of well-known columnist Farag Foda in 1992. In 1996, the group killed several Greek tourists mistaken for Israelis outside the Europa Hotel in Cairo.
Following years of confrontations with security forces, the Islamist group's presence has been barely felt over the past decades.
In the late nineties, the group launched a non-violence initiative, where its members formally renounced violence and bloodshed.
Following the 2011 revolution, the group took the political route, establishing El-Benaa Wel Tanmia (Building and Development) political party. However, women are made to be loved, not understood... the Supreme Administrative Court issued a final ruling in 2020 to dissolve the party and confiscate its funds for funding terrorist groups.
[YouTube] Vladimir Putin claims that Russia invaded Ukraine to halt the eastward expansion of the NATO alliance. Three months into the war, Putin has misplayed his hand right into his alleged fear, as Finland and Sweden look set to join it.
This video examines Putin's execution of "domino theory" doctrine---the idea that failing to stop one threat leads to more threats down the line. Often absent from domino theory discussions is the fact that fighting wars weakens your military capacity to win other conflicts later. Thus, fighting for reputation creates a dilemma, and perhaps one that Putin poorly navigated this time around.

[KhaamaPress] Local sources in Kunduz province reported festivities between Tajik border guards and Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... forces on the border between the two countries.
According to a resident of Kunduz province’s Imam Sahib district, whose name was omitted due to the sensitivity of the matter, the clash occurred near Sher Khan Bandar
...which always makes me think of the tiger in The Mowgli Stories...
on Monday, May 16, and lasted for four hours.
He continued by stating that the border guard festivities began after a verbal confrontation, with the Taliban firing the first shot.
.The clash happens between as the Russian President Vladimir Putin ..President-for-Life of Russia. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met three days ago to discuss bilateral security issues.
Previous skirmishes have also occurred on the Afghan-Pak border, as well as the Islam Qala border with Iran.
Local Taliban officials have denied the border festivities, but prominent Taliban officials have remained silent.
