Nigerian Army, Police NG Burn Down Enugu Community After Gunmen Killed Two Policemen, Four Others
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

The combined security operatives led by the Nigeria Police Force have burnt down Igga community in Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu State, killing some villagers.

The attack in the community it was gathered followed report of the killing of two coppers and three members of the Enugu State Neighbourhood Watch Group by rampaging hoodlums.

It had been confirmed that the security operatives killed one villager in what appears to a reprisal attack on the community.

It was gathered that the hoodlums had on Friday evening attacked and killed the security operatives at Ada Rice Production Nigeria Limited, a farm settlement close to the community following an operation by the suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN) members to comb the area to ward off invading herders, who had attacked the nearby Nimbo community earlier in the week killing four mourners.

Village sources told journalists in Enugu on Monday, that a day after the attack on the security operatives, the operatives comprising personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force, invaded the community Saturday night, burning houses and shooting sporadically.

A viral video also showed several houses, cycle of violences and other properties burning in the raging flames while some shops were looted in the community.

A voice heard in the background of the video said: "This is Igga Community being burnt down by the military and the police from Adani Division.

"They are burning houses and shooting sporadically and on people. The community is in danger. Come to our aid. We are not safe. They are shooting at us."

The development, it was gathered, prompted a protest by women and kiddies in the community, whose video also went viral on Sunday.

One of the villagers, who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity, said that the security operatives razed several houses during the invasion of the community.

"Last night, army and police invaded Igga Community and burnt many houses and in the process, one of us, Richard Okoye died. He was running for his life when he fell and died.

"They came into the community yesterday (Saturday) at about 10 p.m. and stayed till 12 to 1 a.m burning houses and looting people's shops. We all bravely ran away and asked our youths not to retaliate."

While disclosing that those who had alternatives had fled their homes, the villager added that those still taking refuge in the forests were now living in fear, not knowing whether the attack would continue.

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Irene was indignant at the thought of doing such a thing without benefit of clergy...
the Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the attack even as the command was conspicuously silent on the reprisal attack.

According to the command, the attack was unprovoked and unwarranted gruesome murder of two coppers and three Neighbourhood Watch group members carried out by "harboured criminal members of the Igga Community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, in the evening hours of Friday, May 3, 2024".

The command's front man, Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the incident in statement on Monday, said that when the incident happened, a combined security team of three coppers and four Neighbourhood Watch Group provided security for a team of visiting investors from Lagos on a tour of a proposed agricultural investment site in the area.

"However,
the man who has no enemies isn't anybody and has never done anything...
the team was ambushed and attacked by a large group of the criminal elements, who opened fire on them.

"Upon the unprovoked sudden attack, members of the team scampered for safety, while an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), who led the team, one Neighbourhood Watch personnel, and the three (3) member team of investors were later rescued by a coppers team that immediately mobilised to the scene of the crime. But the eventually murdered members of the team went missing and unaccounted for.

"However,
the man who has no enemies isn't anybody and has never done anything...
in the course of a full-scale investigation and a search and manhunt operation launched thereafter, three males suspected to have criminal masterminded the attack were arrested.

"Their revelations during interrogation led to the discovery and recovery of the slain coppers and Neighborhood Watch Group members in the forest on May 4, 2024.

"Their lifeless bodies were taken to the hospital, confirmed dead by doctors, and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy".

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Irene was indignant at the thought of doing such a thing without benefit of clergy...
the Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered further deployment of the command’s intelligence and operational resources to sustain the manhunt of the fleeing criminals, describing the "unprovoked criminal act of the gruesome murder of the personnel as inconceivable, dastardly, and unwarranted".

The CP vowed that the police would stop at nothing to fish out and bring the perpetrators of the senseless act to book.

The CP further cautioned "those who, in an attempt to misinform and mislead unsuspecting members of the public, are circulating unverified videos alleging the burning and looting of houses in the community by joint forces to desist forthwith".

RFK Jr. said doctors found a dead worm in his head after it ate part of his brain
[NY Post] Explains a lot
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed in a deposition taken more than a decade ago that a worm ate part of his brain before dying inside his head.

RFK Jr., now 70, made the bizarre admission during his 2012 divorce proceeding, detailing "cognitive problems" he initially feared were a brain tumor — only for a second doctor to tell him the dark spots on his brain scans were a dead parasite, according to the New York Times.

Before getting a second opinion, Kennedy had been set to undergo surgery by the same doctor who operated on his uncle, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), who had died from brain cancer in 2009.

However, a doctor at New York-Presbyterian Hospital believed the abnormality on his scans "was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died," Kennedy said in the transcribed interview.

RFK Jr. also said during the 2012 deposition that he suffered from mercury poisoning after eating too many tuna fish sandwiches, which doctors told the Times was probably the actual cause of Kennedy’s neurological issues.

"I have cognitive problems, clearly," the son of the late attorney general and senator from New York said at the time. "I have short-term memory loss, and I have longer-term memory loss that affects me."

Kennedy said he suffered from “severe brain fog” and had trouble retrieving words around the same time that his mercury levels were 10 times what the Environmental Protection Agency considers safe.

The vaccine-skeptic politician said he was certain his diet was causing the issue.

“I loved tuna fish sandwiches. I ate them all the time,” he said.

Kennedy also said he recovered from the memory loss and fogginess and had no aftereffects from the parasite, which he claims had not required any treatment.
"It turned me into a Newt. I got better"
The longtime environmental lawyer added that he made several changes following the two health scares, including getting more sleep, traveling less and consuming less fish.

The septuagenarian has used his relative youth to make the case for his insurgent candidacy against former President Donald Trump, 77, and President Biden, 81.

When asked if his health issues would impact his ability to serve as president, a spokesperson for the Kennedy campaign told the Times, “That is a hilarious suggestion, given the competition.”

The longshot candidate has suffered from a variety of health issues over the years — including atrial fibrillation, a common heartbeat abnormality that increases the risk of stroke or heart failure, as well as drug abuse in his youth.

Signal's Katherine Maher Problem
[City Journal] Is the integrity of the encrypted-messaging application compromised by its chairman of the board?

The encrypted-messaging service Signal is the application of choice for dissenters around the world. The app has been downloaded by more than 100 million users and boasts high-profile endorsements from NSA leaker Edward Snowden and serial entrepreneur Elon Musk. Signal has created the perception that its users, including political dissidents, can communicate with one another without fear of government interception or persecution.

But the insider history of Signal raises questions about the app’s origins and its relationship with government—in particular, with the American intelligence apparatus. Such a relationship would be troubling, given how much we have learned, in recent years, about extensive efforts to control and censor information undertaken by technology companies, sometimes in tandem with American government officials.

First, the origin story. The technology behind Signal, which operates as a nonprofit foundation, was initially funded, in part, through a $3 million grant from the government-sponsored Open Technology Fund (OTF), which was spun off from Radio Free Asia, originally established as an anti-Communist information service during the Cold War. OTF funded Signal to provide "encrypted mobile communication tools" to "Internet freedom defenders globally."

Some insiders have argued that the connection between OTF and U.S. intelligence is deeper than it appears. One person who has worked extensively with OTF but asked to remain anonymous told me that, over time, it became increasingly clear "that the project was actually a State Department-connected initiative that planned to wield open source Internet projects made by hacker communities as tools for American foreign policy goals"—including by empowering "activists [and] parties opposed to governments that the USA doesn’t like." Whatever the merits of such efforts, the claim—if true—suggests a government involvement with Signal that deserves more scrutiny.

Sweden abandons 100% renewable energy goal as EU reconsiders climate policies
[WesternJournal] They’re baaack!

More than 40 years after the country voted to phase out nuclear power, Sweden is now looking to build more nuclear reactors after its parliament formally abandoned its 100% renewable energy target to meet net-zero by 2045.

On Tuesday the country modified its net zero targets to 100% "fossil-free" which its right-leaning government creates the conditions for the return of nuclear power to the country’s energy mix.

"We need more electricity production, we need clean electricity and we need a stable energy system," Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson said in parliament.

Observers said the decision implicitly acknowledges the low quality of unstable wind and solar, and is part of a general collapse of confidence in the renewable energy agenda pioneered in the Nordic countries and in Germany.

British lobby group Net Zero Watch, which describes the net zero roadmaps of Western nations as ’utopian and unsustainable,’ welcomed the move. In recent weeks it blasted the Bank of England for spending £150,000 to measure the carbon footprint of plastic bank notes.

It says the net zero plans envisioned by the International Energy Agency (IEA) — which are the basis of Canada’s own net zero efforts — "are dangerously expensive and will result in painful reductions in living standards for all but the richest, as well as national weakness, societal instability and the eventual failure of the decarbonization effort."

In that regard, Sweden came to the only logical conclusion, it said.

"Living close to Russia focuses the mind, and the Swedish people not only wish to join NATO, but also to ground their economy in an energy source, nuclear, that is physically sound and secure, unlike renewables which are neither," said Dr. John Constable, NZW’s energy director.

"For the time being the UK government continues to live in a fantasy of their own making, but we are coming to the end of the green dream."

The UK has every reason to follow Sweden’s lead, but should go even further by increasing the use of natural gas, he added.

"Current UK climate policies are ill-informed and utopian and will almost certainly fail to deliver Net Zero emissions by 2050, or ever. It also runs a high risk of deep and irreversible societal damage," he wrote.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The Great Ukraine Robbery is Not Over Yet
[Ron Paul Institute] The ink was barely dry on President Biden’s signature transferring another $61 billion to the black hole called Ukraine, when the mainstream media broke the news that this was not the parting shot in a failed US policy. The elites have no intention of shutting down this gravy train, which transports wealth from the middle and working class to the wealthy and connected class.

Reuters wrote right after the aid bill was passed that, "Ukraine’s $61 billion lifeline is not enough." Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell went on the Sunday shows after the bill was passed to say that $61 billion is "not a whole lot of money for us..." Well, that’s easy for him to say — after all it’s always easier to spend someone else’s money!

Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, was far from grateful for the $170 billion we have shipped thus far to his country. In an interview with Foreign Policy magazine as the aid package was passed, Kuleba had the nerve to criticize the US for not producing weapons fast enough. "If you cannot produce enough interceptors to help Ukraine win the war against the country that wants to destroy the world order, then how are you going to win in the war against perhaps an enemy who is stronger than Russia?"

How’s that for a "thank you"?

Fury as Texas mother suspected of beating her baby daughters is FREED on a $250 bond
[DM] Texas cops are slamming an Austin judge after the court granted a woman accused of beating her three-month-old a $250 bond so she could be released from jail.

Brittney Bailey, 31, is a free woman despite her March arrest for beating her three-month-old baby girl.

Police are also investigating the death of the infant's twin who was found in the home, but no charges have yet been filed.

Despite the on-going murder investigation, local magistrate Judge Tania Jeffers agreed to lower Bailey's bond to $250.

Government Corruption
Bragg's Case Against Trump Is Imploding Fast
[PJ] It was a bad week for Alvin Bragg and his case against Donald Trump. There's no other way to put it.

For starters, Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, may have made a critical error that could reverse the Trump verdict upon appeal by allowing prosecutors to make certain arguments.

As I reported earlier, "Last week, during an appearance on 'Fox & Friends,' GWU law professor Jonathan Turley told Fox News that Merchan made a mistake by allowing Bragg's prosecutorial team, which former Biden administration official Michael Colangelo is leading, to say unequivocally that Trump was involved in federal election law violations."

"That jury has now been told repeatedly that there are federal election crimes here, strongly suggesting that the payment to Stormy Daniels did violate federal election laws," Turley explained. "That’s just not true."

He cited the recent overturning of Harvey Weinstein's conviction for similar reasons as precedent.

But even the actual allegations against Trump are falling apart. Keith Davidson, the lawyer representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels, testified that the $130,000 payment to Daniels should not be construed as "hush money" but rather as a legitimate "consideration" payment. Davidson also testified that Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was "despondent" when he didn't get a White House job after Trump won the presidency in 2016.

#3  Typically, a lot of the people who make up a jury have regular jobs and resent their time being wasted by irresponsible prosecutors and incompetent (or in this case biased) judges. I'm not sure if the jury in this case has anybody like this but if they do they are pretty ticked off at this point.

#6  I'm pretty sure they will get a conviction despite the obvious farce of the entire trial. It will be reversed on appeal with scathing criticism from the appeals court about the utter travesty that was the "trial", but sometime after the November election, as was the entire point.

Given the enormous, financial, political and violent reaction if they actual tried to imprison Trump, they will go with some form of residential confinement. The entire purpose here is to let Jojo abandon the need to debate "a convicted felon", use the term in the massive Basement Bunker Campaign Redux strategy for the fall, and to keep Trump from campaigning.

Biden administration accused of using the GOVERNMENT to try and grab votes in a key swing state
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Republicans are accusing Biden administration officials of being behind a 'vote grabbing' operation in a critical swing state.

The House Small Business Committee Chair Roger Williams, R-Texas, subpoenaed multiple officials from the Small Business Administration.

He says they're involved in an alleged scheme to improperly register voters in Michigan as part of an effort to boost Biden.

The committee has been investigating how the SBA is involved in voter registration efforts following a March 2021 executive order by Biden aimed at increasing access to voting.

It is the first time in history that the body has subpoenaed members at the SBA.

'These actions were necessary because of the agency’s refusal to comply with the Committee’s ongoing investigation into potential electioneering activities by the SBA regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) they have entered with Michigan’s Secretary of State to register voters,' a release announcing the subpoenas stated.

'The fact that we are having to issue subpoenas to speak with SBA officials is extremely disappointing,' Williams said in a statement announcing the enforcement action.

'The committee has given these two individuals the opportunity to speak with us voluntarily, but this appears to be the only way to get them to comply with our constitutionally mandated oversight responsibilities.'

'The American people deserve answers and transparency on the electioneering activities of the SBA and how they have or plan to insert themselves in the upcoming federal elections,' Williams continued.

'The SBA's sole mission is to help Main Street thrive and grow, and they have repeatedly strayed from that mission to pursue outside political objectives.'

The SBA under Biden announced in March the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Michigan's Department of State.

The SBA program came the same month Biden campaigned in the important swing state.

Notably, the president beat Donald Trump in the battleground state by less than three percent in 2020.

According to a release announcing the plan, the goal of the Biden action was to 'promote civic engagement and voter registration in Michigan,' which was dubbed a 'first-of-its-kind collaboration.'

The program is set to run through 2036 and 'will help connect Michiganders to vital voter registration information from the State of Michigan so that more small business owners can exercise their right to vote,' SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman said in a March statement.

But Republicans are saying the collaboration is blatant election interference and that the Biden administration is targeting swing states with the program ahead of the November election.

'It is unconscionable that during such a precarious time for our nation’s small businesses, the sole federal agency created to serve as their advocate is instead utilizing their limited taxpayer resources and time to advance partisan political campaigns,' Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., said in a statement.

'The SBA’s MOU with the Michigan Department of State is a blatant attempt by the Biden Administration to illegally use the SBA as an extension of the President’s campaign.'

'They are working to elect Democrats, which is abundantly clear considering registration efforts are targeted at cities like Detroit and other urban areas. And if this is being done in Michigan, we can make an educated assumption that it is also happening in other swing states.'

The subpoenas demand that both SBA officials sit for interviews on May 21.

Canada to Destroy Thousands of Classic Browning Hi-Power Pistols
[Red State] One of the things John Browning, the Leonardo da Vinci of guns, was most famous for was the Colt/Browning 1911, that big, heavy, slab-sided piece that is arguably one of the most successful martial sidearms ever made. But before Browning passed away in 1926, he had started a design that many saw as an improvement on the 1911; the new design was finished by FN Herstal engineer Dieudonné Saive and became the 9mm Parabellum Browning Hi-Power pistol. The Hi-Power was the first semi-auto pistol in mass production to have a 13-round, double-stack magazine and was adopted by militaries all over the world; many are still in use today. Great Britain and all the Commonwealth nations used the Hi-Power for many years — including Canada.

But now Canada is transitioning to the Sig-Sauer P320 for their primary service sidearm, and since Canadian civilians can not legally own the Hi-Power under that country's onerous gun laws, they are scheduled to be scrapped, and that's an utter waste.

Terrifying moment Boeing 767's nose smashes into runway
[MAIL] A Boeing 767 cargo plane has crashed upon landing in Turkey this morning after its landing gear failed when it came into land.

The flight, operated by American postal service FedEx, took off from Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport early this morning and was headed for Istanbul when the pilot realised the landing gear was malfunctioning.

Shocking footage showed the moment the plane attempted an emergency landing, smashing down into the runway and scraping its nose along the concrete.

Sparks flew from the plane's tattered fuselage as it crunched along the tarmac with smoke billowing from behind.

The crash will only compound woes for Boeing which is already facing intense scrutiny amid a string of mishaps and controversy over safety concerns - not to mention the deaths of two whistleblowers just two months apart.

But extremely doubtful this can be attributed to BCAC.

#2  Who makes landing gear for Boeing 767? A company called Menasco. You may remember when the 737 was introduced there was a crash later attributed to the plane's rudder being out of position. That was traced to hydraulic parts supplies by a company called Parker-Hannafin.

All these aircraft are "systems of systems." Still, the buck stops at the logo on the nose of the plane.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
NC man convicted of sawed-off shotgun killing entitled to new trial, appellate court rules
[FoxNews] Insufficient instruction of potential self-defense argument was given during Ronald Vaughn's original trial, judges determined.

A man convicted of killing his landlord's adult son with a sawed-off shotgun is entitled to a new trial because the presiding judge failed to instruct jurors about a possible self-defense argument, the state Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday.

A three-judge panel vacated the first-degree murder conviction of Ronald Wayne Vaughn Jr. in the 2017 shooting death of Gary Somerset. Vaughn was on the porch of the Lincoln County trailer he was renting and had the weapon when Somerset yelled "Let's end this" and rushed at him, according to Tuesday's opinion. The two and Somerset's mother had been in a heated argument. Vaughn was sentenced in part to life in prison without parole.

Possessing a gun like the one Vaughn used —a Winchester .410 caliber shotgun with a sawed-off barrel that makes it easier to conceal and potentially more destructive — is a felony, and Vaughn was also convicted on that count.

The state's "stand-your-ground" law says a person is justified in using force and has no duty to retreat when the person "reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself." But it can't be used in some occasions when that person was committing a felony at the time.

Somerset had been living temporarily in the home with Vaughn, and moments before the shooting, his mother gave Vaughn a notice to leave the trailer, which he ripped up, according to the opinion. Vaughn tried unsuccessfully to call 911 with his iPad, the opinion said, and from the porch told Somerset and his mother that they were the ones who needed to leave.

#1  Interesting in that the preclusion of "Stand your ground" came from "the commission of a felony" yet the only felony (were stand your ground to be upheld) was the possession of an illegal gun to stand one's ground with.

R.I.P. Boys Scouts of America
[PJ] Wokeness has finally succeeded in destroying a formerly great organization. After 114 years, the Boy Scouts of America is changing its name to Scouting America.
Somewhere in the heavens, Rockwell silently weeps.
"The organization steeped in tradition has made seismic changes after decades of turmoil, from finally allowing gay youth to welcoming girls throughout its ranks," reports the Associated Press. "With an eye on increasing flagging membership numbers, the Irving, Texas-based organization announced the name change Tuesday at its annual meeting in Florida."

The Boy Scouts of America has faced some tough challenges over the years, including sexual abuse claims that ultimately forced the organization into bankruptcy. In an effort to rebuild, the organization went woke, abandoning tradition in the name of "inclusivity."

In 2013, the organization initiated a policy change, allowing the inclusion of gay youth. This was followed by the lifting of the blanket ban on gay adult leaders two years later. Then, in 2017, it announced that girls would be welcomed into Cub Scouts starting in 2018 and into the main Boy Scout program, which was rebranded as Scouts BSA, in 2019. In 2020, the Boy Scouts publicly supported the leftist agenda with the creation of a new "diversity" badge that clandestinely pushes both radical gender theory and critical race theory. To make matters worse, the badge was made a requirement for prospective Eagle Scouts.

California police unions slam study naming state best for officers: 'Not what we're hearing'
[FoxNews] Several California police unions have come out against a recent WalletHub study that concluded the state was the best place to be a police officer, with critics citing low morale among the rank and file because of law enforcement staffing issues and soft-on-crime polices.

The report released by the personal finance website based its findings largely on compensation, training and job hazards and protection. However, it didn't survey officers or sheriff's deputies, said Tom Saggau, who represents several California police unions.

"Some of the things that they weighed in our opinion are just bananas," Saggau told Fox News Digital. "It's certainly not what we're hearing when we do a survey of the rank and file."

Disney Shares Plunge Nearly 10% as Bob Iger Warns about Future Profitability, Decreases Marvel Output
[Breitbart] Shares of The Walt Disney Company plunged more than 9 percent Tuesday morning as CEO Bob Iger signaled that Disney still faces a tough road ahead as it continues to pull itself out of its recent financial doldrums.

Disney shares were down 9.6 percent after the company warned that next quarter might be softer than expected, especially when it comes to streaming, with Disney+ subscriptions expected to stagnate in the near term.

CEO Bob Iger nevertheless doubled-down on streaming entertainment as the future of Disney.

"We’ve said all along our path to profitability will not be linear," he told analysts on Tuesday.

"While we’re anticipating a softer third quarter, due in large part to the seasonality of our Indian sports offerings, we fully expect streaming to be a growth driver for the company in the future and we have prioritized the steps necessary to achieve this."

Iger obliquely acknowledged Disney’s problems at the box office, saying the studio will reduce the number of Marvel superhero titles it will release each year, bringing the number down to a "maximum" of three movies a year, plus two series.

Temporary floating pier for Gaza aid completed, will move into position once weather lets up: Pentagon
[FoxNews] Both components of the floating pier were reportedly waiting to be moved from the Port of Ashdod to the Gaza Strip

Both sections of the temporary floating pier intended to be placed off the coast of Gaza Strip for the delivery of humanitarian aid have been completed, though weather and sea conditions are preventing delivery of the parts to the embattled region, Pentagon officials tell Fox News.

The components are still sitting at the Port of Ashdod, and CENTCOM "stands by" to relocate the pier sections to Gaza, Singh added.

Once off the coast of Gaza, the U.S. military and USAID will work together to deliver humanitarian assistance using military support vessels and trucks.

Singh could not provide an exact date for when the pier would be maneuvered into place, mainly because of the weather and security conditions.

"As CENTCOM stands by to move the pier into position in the near future, and again, in partnership with USAID, we’re loading humanitarian aid onto the MV Sagamore, which is currently in Cyprus," she said. "The Sagamore is a cargo vessel that will use the JLOTS system and will make trips between Cyprus and the offshore floating pier, as USAID and other partners collect aid from around the world."

Once fully operational, 150 trucks will be available to move aid into Gaza. At first, though, a small number of trucks will be used to make sure the distribution system works.

The Pentagon has said the estimated cost would nearly double the original estimate of $180 million. It also said the project will only be in use temporarily, for a period of three months.

The pier will be able to process up to two million meals a day for the people in Gaza, U.S. Central Command said.

Georgia reprimands Fulton County for scanning ballots twice in 2020 recount
[JustTheNews] The results of the investigation determined that President Joe Biden still won the county over former President Donald Trump, because the vote margin was substantial enough in three independent vote counts. But the county still violated regulations and statues in its counting process.

The Georgia State Election Board is requiring Fulton County to implement an independent election monitor in the 2024 election, after an independent investigation found that the county likely scanned thousands of ballots twice in a recount of the 2020 election.

The state board voted to implement the independent monitor in a 2-1 vote on Tuesday, which ended one of the last probes into the results of the 2020 election, which Trump claimed was stolen from him. The board also voted to dismiss several other complaints against the county, including allegations that it added 16,000 votes to its count before certifying the election, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The results of the investigation determined that President Joe Biden still won the county over former President Donald Trump, because the vote margin was substantial enough in three independent vote counts. But the county still violated regulations and statues in its counting process.

Biden won the state by 11,779 votes in the first count, but 939 more votes for Trump were counted in a recount. If there were ballots that were scanned twice, it only amounted to 3,000 votes. State officials confirmed that the election results were legitimate.

"As long as we have the paper ballot, we have the paper trail that accurately reports the voter’s choice," Charlene McGowan, general counsel for the secretary of state’s office, told the outlet. "Fulton County used improper procedures during the recount of the presidential contest of 2020. The investigation shows there are some duplicative ballot images in the ballot images that Fulton County provided, but what cannot be confirmed conclusively is if those ballots were included in the count."

State officials said it is not clear whether the votes were actually counted twice, or if they were just scanned twice. The county has long faced scrutiny over issues with election integrity.

Board member Ed Lindsey said he voted for the reprimand instead of a more serious punishment because he was focused on making sure future elections were secure rather than focusing on previous elections. He also threatened to open an investigation into the county in July if they do not hire a monitor for the November election.

"There is clear evidence that in 2020 there were numerous violations of regulations and statutes, and the county has acknowledged that," Lindsey said. "My purpose here is not to let it ride but to move this matter forward so we can have some assurances going into the 2024 election."

Fulton County said it has implemented multiple changes since the 2020 election, in order to make sure the vote counting is safe and legitimate going forward.

"Fulton County’s performance during the 2020 elections has been exhaustively scrutinized, but the results, confirmed by three different counts, have not changed. Nor has there been any evidence of fraud or malfeasance," county spokeswoman Jessica Corbitt said. "Since the 2020 election, Fulton County has hired a new director, implemented numerous procedural updates and invested in a new elections headquarters. It has conducted six elections, and independent monitors have noted improvement."

#6  On the recounts, they just reran all the ballots back through the machines. This picked up the double scans. They were cheating and were never charged. They were also scanning without the mandatory observers. Raffensperger called this normal operations - this means that he was in on it and should have been impeached. They are also on video passing around the machine thumb drives like a drug deal. This was likely the process of assigning manufactured ballots to dummy or voter files who did not vote. In other states the ERIC system was used to give Dem folks real time data of who had voted. The simultaneous pause was where the dummy ballots were assigned to “voters.”

Leading Republicans reveal allegations on why Biden envoy to Iran was suspended
BLUF:
[Washington Examiner] "Specifically, we understand that Mr. Malley’s security clearance was suspended because he allegedly transferred classified documents to his personal email account and downloaded these documents to his personal cell phone," the letter, signed by House Foreign Affairs Chairman Mike McCaul (R-TX) and Senate Foreign Affairs ranking member Jim Risch (R-ID), read. "It is unclear to whom he intended to provide these documents, but it is believed that a hostile cyber actor was able to gain access to his email and/or phone and obtain the downloaded information."
But, but, but Hillary ?
Robert Malley began his career during the Clinton administration and earned his name as the architect of former President Barack Obama’s 2015 Iran nuclear deal. He attempted to revive the deal in 2021 under Biden to no avail. He was suspended in April 2023.

Don't Believe the Washington War Machine: Putin Is Not Going to Invade Another NATO Ally
[Newsweek] The primary reason for continuing to flow billions of dollars in cash and weaponry to Ukraine for what is clearly becoming another Afghanistan, is that if we don't, Putin will march through Europe, invading a NATO country such as Poland or the Baltics. In this case, the U.S. would have to deploy armed forces to fight off the Russians to defend the Europeans. These are the talking points that the Washington Establishment politicians and their fellow commentariat members in the media have been using to convince the American people to continue parting with their hard-earned money. In fact, even Speaker Mike Johnson, who as a rank-and-file Right-wing Congressman opposed the funding of Ukraine's war effort, recently signed off on another massive foreign aid package, $95 billion worth, the bulk of which is designated for Kyiv.

"I think that Vladimir Putin would continue to march through Europe if he were allowed," said Johnson, justifying the spending of another $61 billion on a what serious analysts assess as a unwinnable war. "I think he might go to the Baltics next. I think he might have a showdown with Poland or one of our NATO allies," asserted Johnson.

But is it true?

Evidence indicates that this justification for depleting U.S. treasury and weapons arsenal represents a lack of understanding of Putin's thinking and Russia's security strategy—and the incompetence of our national security apparatus. At worst, it is a lie fed to the American people for some other reason.

Here's why Putin is highly unlikely to invade a NATO nation:

Historically, Russians have only invaded Western Europe is response to Western European nations invading Russia.

Putin is well aware that Russia's birth rate is perilously low. It doesn't make since that he wants to lose his boys in needless wars. He thinks he needs Ukraine because he's afraid of what NATO will do there.

I believe the other theory which is the war in Ukraine is a gravy train for defense contractors and corrupt Western politicians. It's all about money and power. [RedStar] “Memory Watch – 2024” started in the Leningrad region.

The chairman of the legislative assembly of the Leningrad region, Sergei Bebenin, addressed the audience, who noted that the “Memory Watch” brought together a huge number of people, veterans, blockade survivors, youth, members of search teams, and volunteers took part in it. He expressed deep gratitude to everyone who is actively involved in this important work. He especially emphasized that the main task is to preserve memory and historical truth.

“This is important for us and for those who come after us, so that we understand the value of Victory, freedom and the right to live as we consider correct,” noted Sergei Bebenin. “Today, our guys, as part of a special military operation, are defending precisely these rights and fighting against revived Nazism. All of Russia supports them, and we are confident that the goals of the special operation will be achieved, victory will be ours.”

This season, representatives from different regions will take part in search work in the Leningrad region as part of the All-Russian “Memory Watch - 2024”. In particular, about 40 Severodvinsk residents from the search teams “Patriot”, “Return”, “Edelweiss”, “Paratrooper”, “Southern Road”, which are part of the ANO “Association of search teams of Severodvinsk “For the Motherland!”” will work.

At the Sinyavinsky Heights, the 13th Separate Ski Brigade, which included residents of Molotovsk (now Severodvinsk) and the entire Arkhangelsk region, broke through the blockade of Leningrad. They fought as part of the 33rd Separate Rifle Brigade and in other units. Search engines plan to find and rebury the dead fellow countrymen - soldiers and officers of the Red Army.

As Marina Grigorieva, chairman of the Leningrad Region Youth Policy Committee, said, according to preliminary data, the remains of about 40,000 dead soldiers are not buried in the region. Every year more than 2,000 searchers come to the region of 15 subjects of the Federation, and every year they recover about 3,000 remains. In some cases, it is possible to establish the names of fallen servicemen. For example, last year, 157 names were identified using medallions or archival data.

It is worth noting that the government of the Leningrad region pays great attention to search work. Since 2024, a holiday has been legally established in the Leningrad Region - Search Engine Day of the Leningrad Region - March 15. Now the regional youth policy committee is developing a badge “For Distinction in the Search Movement” and creating a Search Engine House in the Tosnensky district.

Search work in the Leningrad region is carried out in 15 municipal districts. In total, 918 objects with signs of military burials have been identified in the region, of which 547 are objects of cultural heritage. 751 out of 918 have registration cards and are registered with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as military graves, more than 150 require certification work, and in some cases, an examination.

In 2023, 41 burial ceremonies for defenders of the Fatherland took place in the Leningrad region

Last year, 41 solemn funeral ceremonies were organized; the remains of 1,747 defenders of the Fatherland and victims of war discovered by search teams were interred. The remains of five servicemen were transferred to their small homeland for burial.

As part of the ceremony, the best representatives of the search movement were awarded and a visit to the Krasnogvardeysky Fortified Area museum took place.

On the same day, the patriotic motor rally “Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten” set off in the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region. Among its participants are veterans of the Great Patriotic War, children of wartime, combat veterans, deputies, representatives of district administrations and public organizations, activists of youth movements. The motor rally to places of military glory is being held for the nineteenth time, and this year its route passed through three districts of the Leningrad region: Gatchina, Kirov and Tosnensky.

The first “Memory Watch” in the Leningrad region took place in 1990 on the Nevsky Patch and has been held annually since then. During this time, over 30 thousand dead soldiers of the Great Patriotic War were found and buried on the territory of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, the names of more than seven thousand were established.

Hezbollah attacks north Israel with suicide drones
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Hezbollah attacked Tuesday northern Israel with suicide drones.
Aerial, not bipedal, right?
The group said its drones targeted soldiers in the Yiftah barracks, inflicting casualties, while other drones hit an Iron Dome platform in the Ramot Naftali barracks, damaging it.

Israeli media had earlier reported several "suspicious aerial targets" believed to be explosive-laden drones launched by Hezbollah.

The Israeli army claimed its air defenses downed one drone while another struck an area near Yiftah, causing a fire, and others caused minor damage at unspecified locations and open areas.

Israeli tanks meanwhile shelled the outskirts of Kfarshouba as Hezbollah targeted a post in the occupied Shebaa Farms, surveillance equipment in the occupied Kfarshouba Hills and soldiers in the al-Raheb post facing Ayta al-Shaab and in the Ramot Naftali barracks.

Speaking on the Geo News programme Capital Talk, the JUI-F chief said: "Our Million March and Awami Assembly have nothing to do with the May 9 incidents."

The May 9 violence were triggered almost across the country after the deposed prime minister Imran Khan's arrest in the £190 million settlement case last year. Hundreds of PTI workers and leaders were put behind bars for their alleged involvement in violence and attacks on military installations.

During the protests, the miscreants targeted the civil and military installations including — Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The military termed May 9 "Black Day" and decided to try the protesters under the Army Act.

In his fresh interview with Hamid Mir, Maulana Fazl said that his party had also staged a protest against the May 9 violence and the entire nation had taken notice of the attacks on the state property.

It is pertinent to mention here that Fazl, in March this year, announced launching a movement called "Awami Assembly" against the results of the general elections which he believes were "rigged".

The JUI-F chief, while lambasting the "establishment" for "constantly interfering" in politics, had announced million marches against the alleged rigging in the February 8 general elections. He had made the announcement while delivering his maiden speech in the National Assembly last month.

Multi-level operation. How the Russian Federation wanted to kill Zelensky
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] An assassination attempt was being prepared on Vladimir Zelensky
Two colonels of the UGO, who, by order of the Russian special services, were preparing an assassination attempt on the President of Ukraine, were detained.

On May 7, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that it had prevented an assassination attempt on the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, as well as the military-political leadership of the state - the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov.

The assassination attempt was prepared by carefully hidden colonels of the State Security Administration, who “leaked” secret information to Russia. They were led by FSB agents from Moscow.

WHAT WAS THE PLAN
In total, according to the SBU press service, the network included five FSB agents. They were actively developing plans to eliminate Zelensky. Another task of the network was to search for executors among the military close to the president’s security, who could take the head of state hostage and subsequently kill him.

In addition to the president, the Kremlin planned to eliminate the head of the SBU, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate and other officials. For example, the liquidation of Kirill Budanov was going to be carried out before Easter.

According to the SBU, the enemy’s plan was as follows: first, the recruited agent had to observe the movement of the protected person and transmit information to the enemy. It was planned to launch a missile strike at the coordinates of the building where the official was supposed to be located.

Then they were going to attack with a drone the people remaining at the site of the defeat. After this, the Russians planned to hit another missile, including to destroy traces of the drone’s use.

It is noted that the weapons for the Russian agent were provided by the UGO colonel, who personally brought FPV drones, RPG-7 charges, as well as MON-90 anti-personnel mines to Kiev.

The SBU recorded both the trips of a UGO colonel to another region of Ukraine to buy drones and explosives, as well as conversations between a potential perpetrator of a terrorist attack and a “curator” from the FSB.
Vasily Malyuk says that he knew about the preparation of Kremlin agents to kill Zelensky and him personally.

“A limited circle of people knew about our special operation, and I personally controlled its progress. The terrorist attack, which was supposed to be a gift to Putin for the inauguration, was in fact a failure of the Russian special service. But we must not forget - the enemy is strong and experienced, he cannot be underestimated,” he noted.

According to the SBU, employees of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the 5th Service oversaw the organization of the terrorist attack. In particular, Maxim Mishustin, Dmitry Perlin and Alexey Kornev.

“In particular, in January 2022, Perlin became the curator of the “moles” who were recruited even before the full-scale invasion of Russia. By that time, his colleague Alexey Kornev was “taking care of” them. So, before the start of a full-scale war, Kornev held a series of secret meetings with the UGO colonel on territories of neighboring European states. Funds for agents were also usually transferred abroad,” the SBU press service noted.

The suspect was chosen as a preventive measure - detention. They face life imprisonment.

MULTI-LEVEL OPERATION
Military expert, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav Seleznev says that the SBU employees showed unprecedented professionalism, because “in conditions of carefully concealed agents of influence directly in the UGO, that is, in the structure responsible for preserving the life and health of our president, it was possible to identify them.”

“This is a very cool consequence of a multi-level and long-term military operation. Obviously, they could be preparing a gift for Putin in the form of the murder of our key government and military officials. But the fact that ours worked ahead of the curve is an honor and praise to our special forces,” he said on air Espresso.

According to Seleznev, intensifying Russian counterintelligence activities currently remains a key issue.

“Because now, when we begin to receive weapons, equipment, ammunition from our Western partners and move them across the expanses of Ukraine, it is extremely important to protect this process from prying eyes and ears. We need to work proactively to prevent the Russians from identifying logistics routes and ways to move weapons, which are very necessary on the battlefield,” the military man added.

Jamal Bowman is an Idiot
[MSN] A member of the far-left "Squad" facing a tough challenge from within his own party recently attended a fundraiser co-hosted by an Islamic leader who said he was "happy to see" the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on Israeli civilians.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who represents New York's 16th Congressional District, attended the May 1 fundraiser at a private residence in Fairfax, Virginia, and didn't seem to mind the presence of Nihad Awad, a highly controversial and antisemitic figure who serves as the national executive director and co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Awad faced sharp scrutiny last year after expressing his pleasure with the Hamas attack that resulted in the deaths of nearly 1,200 Israelis, including women and babies, and claiming Israel "does not have a right to self-defense."

"The people of Gaza only decided to break the siege — the walls of the concentration camp — on Oct. 7," Awad said during the 16th annual Convention for Palestine on Nov. 24 near Chicago. "And yes, I was happy to see people breaking the siege and throwing down the shackles of their own land and walk free into their land that they were not free to walk in."

NGO Freedom House, which called for taking away the assets of the Russian Federation, was recognized as undesirable
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] American non-governmental organization (NGO) Freedom House, inc.
…founded in 1941 to advocate for democracy and human rights, it is primarily funded by the US State Department…
recognized as undesirable in Russia. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

“The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation recognized the activities of the international non-governmental organization Freedom House, Inc. as undesirable. (USA). Among the main activities of Freedom House is promoting the establishment of the so-called “dominant” role of the United States in the world,” the department’s website says.

They noted that since the beginning of the special operation, this organization has been actively promoting the policies of unfriendly states regarding the conflict in Ukraine, including discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

Moreover, Freedom House calls for comprehensive assistance to Kyiv “to defeat Russia,” the confiscation of frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine, and the introduction of new sanctions against Russia and third countries that allegedly support Moscow.

“The organization provides information, financial, legal and other support to Russian opposition structures, pro-Western and LGBT activists (the movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation - editor’s note), communities defending their interests, and persons convicted of committing terrorist crimes,” - added the Prosecutor General's Office.

As Regnum reported, on May 3, the Ministry of Justice added the “Committee of Ingush Independence” to the register of undesirable organizations (an organization that performs the functions of a foreign agent in the Russian Federation and is recognized as undesirable).

On April 27, the Ministry of Justice included in the list of undesirable organizations “Feminist Anti-War Resistance” (an organization that performs the functions of a foreign agent in Russia and is recognized as undesirable).

Details about the detention of a US sergeant in Vladivostok
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian Foreign Ministry representative office in Vladivostok published a post with reference to The Associated Press about the detention of an American soldier in the capital of Primorye on May 2, who is suspected of theft and assault.

Army Staff Sergeant Gordon Black, 34, was scheduled to leave South Korea at the end of his deployment and return home to Fort Cavazos in Texas. But instead, he went to Russia to visit a woman he knew.

According to officials, the acquaintance lived for some time in South Korea, and in the fall of 2023, she and the sergeant had a domestic dispute or quarrel. After that she left the country. The true reasons for her departure are unknown.

It also turned out that infantryman Black did not inform his leadership of his intentions to travel to Russia and did not have permission to travel. Apparently he was on vacation.

“D is discipline,” commented the representative office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Vladivostok.

The information is contradictory; there are no official details of the arrest.

At the same time, Black is married.

As IA Regnum reported, an American sergeant detained by police in Vladivostok on suspicion of theft beat a woman before the theft.

At some point, he attacked his partner and began strangling and beating her. As a result, he stole 200 thousand rubles and alcohol from her.

The Russian side informed the US State Department of the detention of an American serviceman in Vladivostok. The man was detained on May 2. No charges were officially announced.

The mother-of-two special operator killed hunting ISIS: Navy cryptologist Shannon Kent's husband...
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] …tells the story of a warrior in a top secret unit taken away from her sons by a suicide bomber in Syria.

Shannon Kent's story is detailed in Send Me: The True Story of a Mother at War.

Joe Kent was on a classified mission overseas when a friend pulled him aside to say four Americans had been killed in a suicide bombing in Syria.

Two of them were women, and Kent knew deep down that one of them was his wife Shannon.

The Navy cryptologist had been hunting ISIS cells and their leaders in Manbij - when a man walked into a popular kebab restaurant frequented by U.S. personnel and detonated his suicide vest.

The mother of two young boys was 35 years old, and killed while working alongside the nation's most secretive intelligence office, the National Security Agency, to track down terrorists.

Even her husband didn't know the full details of the work she was doing or exactly where she was.

Over five overseas combat tours she became an expert in gleaning information from almost anyone.

She was responsible for finding militants to give their locations to Delta Force, SEAL Team 6 or pilots so they could be taken out with precision strikes.

Chief Kent wasn’t going for a leisurely lunch when the fireball ripped through the dining room in January 2019.

'I love you,' Joe texted her when she informed in she was going out on a mission in what would be their final exchange.

She was doing what she had done for most of her storied 15-year career: Gathering intelligence in the world’s most dangerous places.

The Islamic State claimed credit for the attack and she became the first female service member to be killed in Syria since American troops arrived in 2015.

Kent suddenly became a Gold Star husband, had the impossible task of returning home to his two sons.

At just one and three years old, they were too young to fully grasp what had happened. They had barely gotten to know their warrior mother.

Like other grieving families, he didn’t have a stranger knock on his door to deliver the unbearable news.

He then contacted Shannon’s parents to make sure they got the worst phone call imaginable from someone they knew.

Then he had to get out of the middle of nowhere and return home to face his new normal.

His wife’s heroic story and how Kent dealt with her death in is in her biography Send Me: The True Story of a Mother at War, co-written by journalist and filmmaker Marty Skovlund Jr.

Her legacy and reputation was made abundantly clear by the thousands who showed up to her memorial at the Naval Academy’s chapel in Annapolis, Maryland.

She was posthumously promoted to senior chief petty officer.

The five medals and citations she received described her Special Operations work supporting the NSA while assigned to Cryptologic Warfare Activity SIXTY SIX.

Her name was added to the Cryptologic Memorial Wall alongside the inscribed words ‘They Served in Silence’.

Chief Kent was fluent in seven languages and was the first woman to complete the Naval Special Warfare Direct Support Course.

She also ran marathons, could march for miles with a 50-pound rucksack and do a dozen pull-ups.

Shannon even had a bout with thyroid cancer.

She didn’t tell Joe, who was overseas at the time, until after the surgery and was back at work a few days later.

She learned four Arabic dialects so she could be at the heart of the post-9/11 wars.

Her skills took her into meetings with sources who knew the whereabouts of some of the world’s most wanted terrorists, including ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Some of the men she came face-to-face with even balked at the fact she was a woman.

But she was still able to extract exactly what was needed.

Her work was so classified that she was given the title of ‘cryptologist’, and the full details of what she was doing may not be known for years.

Cryptologic warfare 'encompasses signals intelligence (SIGINT), cyberspace operations, and electronic warfare (EW) operations in order to deliver effects through sea, air, land, space, and cyber domains at all levels of war,' according to the Navy.

But her work was much more than translating documents or decrypting messages

Growing up in the small town of Pine Planes, in New York, she rode horses at an early age.

Her knack for languages came when she learned Spanish so she could speak to Argentinian stable hands at a polo field.

She enlisted for the Navy in 2003 inspired by her state troop father and Staten Island firefighter uncle, both of whom were responders when the planes struck the twin towers on September 11, 2001.

In 2004 she graduated from boot camp at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, in February 2004 and joined the Navy's linguist program.

A blow to the financial pyramid. Foreign creditors present Ukraine with an invoice
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Vladislav Sovin

[REGNUM] In addition to the slow but constant surrender of positions at the front, Ukraine is steadily approaching financial capitulation. Only now it is not “Russian aggressors” who are attacking it, but “good friends” and “partners” represented by a pool of various creditors.

The recent US decision to allocate more than $60 billion to the Zelensky regime to continue military operations has led, among other things, to a clear revival among a large group of individuals who want to spend the aforementioned billions in style. Only in addition to the quite expected contenders for money like the American military-industrial complex, its lobbyists from the US establishment, and also, naturally, the Ukrainian authorities, others also submitted their applications to participate in the banquet.

Those who have already brought Ukraine to the brink of financial (and other) disaster.

As The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, citing its sources, a group of holders of Ukrainian government bonds will push Kiev to resume debt payments. Moreover, this push will be very noticeable, since the number of “shareholders” includes some of the largest investment companies in the United States, including the well-known BlackRock. According to WSJ, creditors have already formed a committee and hired expensive lawyers and bankers to negotiate interest payments.

Generally speaking, they wanted to do this earlier, but in the summer of 2022 they agreed to defer Ukraine’s payments on its external debt by going on a “credit holiday” until 2024. These holidays end in August.

So investors holding an estimated $20 billion worth of outstanding Eurobonds are now counting on resuming payments. And in return they offer to write off a significant part of the country's outstanding debt. Lenders expect to receive $500 million in interest payments per year.

Why is this option beneficial for them? After all, it would seem that if part of the debt is written off (and, apparently, we are talking not about just 2-3%, but about a significant amount - up to half), investors will lose billions? Have the classic sharks of American capitalism from BlackRock really decided to do charity work in relation to Ukraine?

No, the sharks are fine, they haven’t lost their appetite, and their prey isn’t going anywhere.

The thing is that the current holders of Ukrainian Eurobonds for a nominal amount of 20 billion, in large numbers, bought them at one time with a huge (due to the war) discount of 70–80%. those. bonds with a par value of $1,000/euro were purchased for $200–300/euro.

At market value, a portfolio of these bonds could be worth $4 billion to $6 billion, depending on the timing of the valuation. The average coupon rate is 7%, that is, about $1.4 billion annually in interest - this is if not a penny of debt is written off. But this is at face value. And if by market value, then 1.4 billion dollars from 4 billion dollars, this is already up to 35% per annum!

In such situations, it is clear that by agreeing to write off even 50% of the nominal value, investors remain at a great benefit.

As noted by the famous Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch, “then companies such as BlackRock and Pimco will receive annual returns of up to 20%. Space!"

“And this is only for the coupon. If you bought someone else's debt for 20% of the face value, then you can agree to write off 50% of the face value, because interest will be charged on the remaining face value, which will still be two to three times more than the cost of the debt at the time of purchase. That is, write off 50% and charge interest on the balance at par, you will still get X2, X3 to the official interest on the coupon,” he says.

A similar trick with Ukrainian bonds was pulled off relatively recently, and the actors are not much different.

In the winter of 2014, at the height of the bloody events on the Maidan, almost 50% of Ukrainian Eurobonds were bought cheaply by another well-known American asset management company, Franklin Templeton. Among its largest shareholders are BlackRock and The Vanguard Group, which are among the “big three” investment companies in the United States (and the world as a whole).

A little later, in December 2015, already under the Euromaidan government - Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Finance Minister Natalia Yaresko (US citizen) - Western creditors, led by Franklin Templeton, also carried out a very profitable (for themselves) restructuring of Ukraine’s debt. Then, too, part of the national debt was written off, and in return investors received GDP warrants, a tax on the country’s economic growth, for the amount of debt write-off. As a result, the income that Western investors received (and continue to receive) from these operations significantly exceeded the losses that they seemed to have suffered from writing off part of the debt.

Something similar is planned now. If a design works, why not repeat it (with minor modifications) over and over again?

There is, however, one caveat. The holders of Ukrainian Eurobonds, who bought them cheaply, are not only BlackRock and the company. The same scheme was carried out by Ukrainian, so to speak, investors who are close to the authorities and therefore have insider information and money.

Unlike Western investment funds that have existed for many decades, they are not aimed at long-term “milking” of the Ukrainian budget, but at extracting more from it here and now. In relation to this case - to repay, at the expense of the state budget, bonds with a par value of 1000 dollars/euro, purchased for approximately 200 dollars/euro.

The reasons for this difference in approaches are obvious. Ukrainian holders of large blocks of Eurobonds are rich and influential people only as long as they are in or near power. The oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, languishing in prison, and many, many others will not let him lie.

And what will happen to the current Ukrainian government in a year or two, or even earlier, it’s unlikely that anyone can predict now. Therefore, the question of how exactly and when, after the end of the credit holiday, the debt on Ukraine’s Eurobonds will be repaid is still up in the air.

However, the same The Wall Street Journal bluntly points out that without an agreement with foreign bondholders, Ukraine will be forced to default in August of this year. For a state that exists solely thanks to more and more Western loans, this will mean a very quick collapse.

Therefore, we can say with confidence that creditors will not lose. In any case, money from the state budget will regularly replenish the budgets of private investors. Moreover, the state budget of Ukraine is managed by approximately the same external and internal managers who are also holders of the country’s debt.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s public debt has reached a historical record level of almost 90% of GDP. Last year, Kyiv paid off about 18 billion dollars on all debts, and this year it is necessary to pay back 26.4 billion. The amount will only increase further.

The moment of collapse of the Ukrainian financial pyramid is steadily approaching, and its creators, meanwhile, are deciding how to get the most out of it before it collapses.

US hits pause on precision bomb shipments to Israel to send message in protest of Gaza policy
”Never again,” President Biden said at the Holocaust Day commemoration. Apparently never means something different to him.
[NYPOST] Biden administration officials are holding up shipments of precision bombs to Israel to send a message about the Jewish state’s ongoing war against Hamas
...not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
in the Gazoo
Islamic Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response. In October of 2023 Gazooks belonging to Hamas invaded Israel, killed over a thousand people, raped a bunch of women. Then they bitched and moaned about genocide when their butts handed to them in the entirely justified retaliation.
Strip.
Use of dumb bombs, naturally, will increase civilian casualties.
While the White House has not formally scrapped the planned sale of the Boeing-made munitions, it has yet to formally approve the transaction, Politico reported Tuesday.

US officials tiptoed around the report, with a series of spokespeople refusing to deny it.

"Our commitment to Israel’s security remains ironclad. We don’t, as a matter of course, talk about individual shipments one way or the other," National Security Council front man John Kirby told news hounds.

Government Corruption
Judge vacates start date for Donald Trump's classified documents trial, with no new date yet decided
[10News] Good. Jack Smith is interfering in the election.
In a filing on May 7, District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
, said there were pretrial issues that would have to be resolved before the case could proceed.
Ha! "Mishandled evidence".... yes, I suppose one could say that.
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, overseeing former President Donald Trump's classified documents case in Florida, has vacated the start date of the trial, which was most recently set for May 20.

Cannon, who was appointed by Trump, set the May date as a compromise between the prosecution's plea to set the trial in December and the defense's request to postpone it until after the 2024 presidential election.

In a filing on May 7, Judge Cannon wrote: "Finalization of a trial date at this juncture — before resolution of the myriad and interconnected pre-trial and CIPA issues remaining and forthcoming — would be imprudent and inconsistent with the Court's duty to fully and fairly consider the various pending pre-trial motions before the Court, critical CIPA issues, and additional pretrial and trial preparations necessary to present this case to a jury."

Cannon has not set a replacement date for the trial.

Trump is accused of unlawfully retaining hundreds of classified documents at his resort in Florida. He is charged with 37 felony counts of mishandling classified material. In July of 2023, prosecutors added more felony charges of obstruction and willful retention of national defense information.

ZERO - Trump Classified Document Trial Postponed Indefinitely Days After 'Mishandled Evidence' Bombshell
The Zero Hedge article links to the original order to vacate, and adds background.
More from PJ Media courtesy of DarthVader at 9:04 a.m. ET:
Special Counsel Jack Smith's classified documents case against former President Donald Trump has been on shaky ground lately. On Friday, Smith’s team admitted to misleading Cannon and tampering with the evidence that had been used as the basis for his case against Trump.

Last month, Cannon unsealed a trove of new documents in the case that also revealed that an FBI agent had testified that the General Services Administration (GSA) was in possession of Trump's boxes in Virginia before ordering Trump's team to come get them. The same boxes that the GSA had been holding and ordered Trump’s team to retrieve ended up being the boxes that contained classified markings, raising questions about whether the Biden administration had set up Trump.

"So an entire pallet full of boxes that had been held by GSA somewhere outside of DC is dumped at Mar-a-Lago," independent journalist Julie Kelly noted. "Apparently these are the boxes that ended up containing papers with 'classified markings.'"

The Supreme Court also heard oral arguments over Trump's claims to presidential immunity, which may affect this cause.

Cannon's decision is a major win for President Trump, who has repeatedly sought to delay the case until after the presidential election in November. In early April, Cannon rejected Trump's previous attempt to dismiss the case, which he based on the argument that the documents found at his estate were personal records. Trump had filed multiple motions for dismissal back in February, employing various arguments, such as asserting presidential immunity and questioning the legitimacy of Smith's appointment.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden had classified information that he was never entitled to have stored in boxes in his garage for years but was not charged. In February Special Counsel Robert Hur's report concluded that Biden "willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen" and that his actions "present[ed] serious risks to national security.” However, Hur wouldn’t bring charges against him because Biden "would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

#1  The judge is, however, holding hearings into selective prosecution, the handling of evidence, the lies about said evidence, and last but the very best is if Jack Smith was legally appointed as a special prosecutor. Its gonna take months for them to sort it out, and if Smith get replaced it will all have to start over.

Fani Willis refuses to testify before GOP-led Georgia panel
[Hill via MSN] You go, Bish. Gonna be fun times ahead
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) said Monday that she would not be testifying before a Republican-led Georgia state Senate panel investigating her.

At an event where she earned the endorsement of many local Black religious leaders, Willis said the committee investigating her may not have the authority to subpoena her.

"First of all, I don’t think they even had the authority to subpoena me, but they need to learn the law," she said, reported by Fox 5.

She continued, saying she would not appear for anything unlawful because she had "not broken the law."

"I’ve said it amongst these leaders; I’m sorry folks get pissed off that everybody gets treated equally," Willis said.

Willis, who is conducting a historic indictment of former President Trump for his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia, has also made headlines for her personal relationship.

Months of controversy have disrupted Willis’s original case, after it was made public that she had a romantic relationship with someone she hired for the case.

A judge ruled in March that she could continue the prosecution, if she or special prosecutor Nathan Wade stepped down, which he ultimately did.

Now, the state Senate is looking to investigate whether Willis and Wade used taxpayer dollars during their relationship.

County Commission Chair Robb Pitts testified before the committee this week that the board has little power over Willis’s spending once it approves her budget, but also dodged opportunities to criticize Willis, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The Hill has reached out to the state Senate press office for comment on Willis’s remarks, but the committee’s chair, state Sen. Bill Cowsert (R), told Fox 5 that he maintains the committee has the power to make Willis testify about her spending. He said Willis could be held in contempt if she doesn’t cooperate.

"I sure hope it doesn’t get to that," Cowsert told the outlet.

Georgia’s local and state election day is May 21. Willis, who is in the middle of running her reelection campaign, will face a Democratic challenger, Christian Wise Smith, a former prosecutor in the Fulton County district attorney’s ofice, in the primary, 11Alive reported.

"[There] ain’t no one above the law, either," Willis said at her press conference Monday. "So, I don’t care how rich you are, how powerful you think you are, who your daddy is, what your political party might be, how much money you think you got and how evil your supporters are."
"I'm black, and a wymyn. Hear me roar!"
"I don’t care how many times they threaten me. I will gladly leave this place knowing that I did God’s work," she said.

#1  Third World Problems
One of the reasons we invented civilization was so we would not have decomposing corpses, human or otherwise, in our water supply.

In one of those amusing bits of synchronicity our universe is famous for, NPR ran a long piece yesterday on how Mexico City is out of water.

The report went into some detail about how back in the Aztec days, when the city was known as Tenochtitlan, it was an island city surrounded by water (and probably malaria, but let's not go there). With lots of canals and channels to supply the city, it all sounded quite green and lovely.

Then the Spaniards, bastards that they are, showed in the 1500s and drained the land to make the place more European. Cut to the present day when the city is not just running low but flat out rationing water. In some areas, water is only available for a few hours a day. Cue a plaintive interview with a woman about undrinkable, muddy tap water and we are out.

Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821, in case you were wondering.

The movement of boats and ferries has been restored in Sevastopol
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The movement of sea passenger transport in the Sevastopol Bay is open after a temporary suspension, the city Directorate for the Development of Road Transport Infrastructure reported on May 7.

“Maritime passenger transport has resumed operation in Sevastopol,” the directorate’s Telegram channel says.

The stoppage of maritime transport lasted about 25 minutes, the reasons were not given.

As Regnum reported, on the morning of May 7, traffic on the Crimean Bridge was temporarily blocked. Traffic was suspended for 35 minutes.

On May 2, Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN, Sergei Kislitsa, hinted at a new attack on the Crimean Bridge being prepared in 2024. He provided a list of “six main types of bridges for 2024”, and attached a blank image to the inscription “Kerch Bridge”.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned the West of retaliation in the event of an attack on Crimea. According to her, the Kiev regime, with the support of the West, began openly preparing a new attack on the Crimean Bridge. All aggressive actions against the peninsula are doomed to failure, the diplomat emphasized.

[Regnum] In Tatarstan, at the Zelenodolsk plant named after A. M. Gorky, a small missile ship of Project 22 800 “Typhoon” and a patrol ship of Project 22 160 “Victor the Great” were launched. This was reported by the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy (Navy), Admiral Alexander Moiseev, the shipbuilders and crews of the ships were congratulated on this significant event by the head of the Navy shipbuilding department, Rear Admiral Ilyas Shigapov,” the message says.

The defense department added that, according to tradition, they smashed bottles of champagne on the stems of the ships before descending.

As Regnum reported, at the beginning of the year the newest mine defense ship Semyon Agafonov was laid down in St. Petersburg as part of project 12,700 code Alexandrite. The event took place at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard on January 18.

The minesweeper became the twelfth ship within the project. They decided to name the ship itself after the Hero of the Soviet Union Semyon Agafonov, a participant in the Great Patriotic and Soviet-Japanese Wars.

In early January, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian Navy in 2024 will be replenished with the small missile ship Burya and the submarine Kronstadt. It was noted that this year the Russian Navy will continue the planned increase in its strength.

It was specified that the Baltic, Pacific and Black Sea fleets will be strengthened by several small missile and patrol ships, as well as sea minesweepers.

On December 25, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that five frigates, eight corvettes, 13 small missile ships and more than 50 other ships of various classes are currently in various stages of readiness at Russian shipyards. At the flag-raising ceremony on the frigate Admiral Golovko, the small missile ship Naro-Fominsk and the minesweeper Lev Chernavin, which are entering service with the Navy, the president said that Russian shipbuilding has entered a new important stage - serial production of warships of various classes.

The President also said that the country will strengthen its naval power in all strategic directions and will implement all plans for the construction of ships. The head of state thanked the workforce of the enterprises for their professionalism and high dedication, and wished the ship crews worthy service for the benefit of Russia.

Turkey captures a suspect in the murder of two Russian women in Bodrum
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A native of Lithuania, Andrei Kuslevich, who killed Russian woman Irina Dvizova and her 15-year-old daughter in Turkish Bodrum was detained in Germany, the Turkish publication Kent TV reported on May 7.

The police managed to detain Kuslevich while he was passing through border control on a bus traveling from Prague to Munich.

The decision regarding the suppression will be made after the court hearing, which will be held in Nuremberg, is specified in the material.

As people around Irina Dvizova told RT, the family has no official confirmation that Kuslevich was caught. Neither German nor Turkish security forces contacted them. The relatives, according to the source, hope that the news of the arrest is not a mistake.

As reported by IA Regnum, on November 28, 2023, the bodies of a Russian woman and her daughter, wrapped in sheets, were found by the side of the road in Bodrum. Their relatives reported their disappearance. Turkish police are looking for a foreigner suspected of murder.

Relatives and friends searched for the women for a week after finding a bloody trail of size 46 shoes and a bullet in their home. They said that the main suspect is the husband of the murdered woman, whom Dvizova in Russia tried to deprive of parental rights to his youngest son.
Size 46 shoes? Looking for a clown?
Also, a friend of the murdered woman said that Dvizova’s ex-husband was prohibited from approaching her and her 15-year-old daughter. The woman added that Dvizova’s ex-husband behaved cruelly.

The Turkish newspaper Sabah clarified that the suspect in the murder of Russian women was a mercenary soldier in Lithuania. He fired five bullets at the women and then left for France with his son.

Lake Oroville in CA near 100% capacity for 2nd year in a row (Good News)
[Newsweek] California's Lake Oroville is officially at full capacity, following another winter with lots of precipitation.

Lake Oroville, formed by the Oroville Dam in Butte County, northern California, is the state's second-largest reservoir. Like most of California's reservoirs, the lake saw extremely dry periods in recent years due to the megadrought that gripped the region. However, its water levels now stand at about 900 feet tall, its full capacity, for the second year in a row.
[back in Sept 2021, it was at about 630'; also good news is that the recent structural and hydraulic improvements to the dam seem to be working quite well]

Zardari gets 'immunity' in Toshakhana vehicle case
[GEO.TV] In view of the constitutional immunity of the head of the state, an accountability court in Islamabad on Tuesday halted its proceedings against incumbent President Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
...former president of Pakistain, husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in...
in the Toshakhana vehicle reference.

At the outset of today’s hearing, PPP's lawyer Farooq H Naik — counsel of President Zardari — appeared before the accountability court and filed a plea seeking to halt the court’s proceedings against his client.

"As per the law, Asif Ali Zardari has presidential immunity. The case against Zardari cannot proceed as long as he remains in office," argued the lawyer.

Approving his request, accountability court judge Justice Javed Rana halted the proceedings against the president in the Toshakhana case.

The development came a month after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), in a written reply submitted to the accountability court in the Toshakhana vehicle reference, requested to end the criminal proceedings against President Zardari, saying that he enjoys constitutional immunity.

It is pertinent to mention here that the NAB last month exonerated Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif

The Gaza-based General Authority for Crossings and Borders said in a press statement sent to The New Arab that the Israeli army tanks stormed the crossing in the early morning, and Israeli soldiers raised the Israeli flag at one of the entrances to the crossing.

Paleostinian sources and local eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli army launched dozens of air and ground attacks on the eastern areas of the city of Rafah, leaving dozens injured or killed.

"At least 20 Paleostinians were killed during the Israeli attacks, while dozens of others were maimed and transferred to the field and local hospitals in the city," a medical source in Rafah told TNA.

Avichai Adraee, the spokesperson of the Israeli army, claimed in a press statement that "the military forces achieved operational control over the Gaza side of the Rafah crossing after receiving intelligence information indicating that the crossing was being used for terrorist purposes by saboteurs as it put it."

In the besieged and starving city of El Fasher, a deadly battle for Sudan's Darfur region looms
[NEWARAB] The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have encircled and besieged El Fasher in North Darfur in recent weeks, but fears of an all-out assault on the city have not yet materialised.

El Fasher remains the last capital city in Darfur's five states where the Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans. The country is currently enjoying a civil war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which used to be part of the army but then they got another ambitious general and you can guess the rest...
ese Armed Forces (SAF) maintain a garrison following their 13-month-long war against the RSF.

A defeat for the SAF and former Darfur rebel groups fighting alongside it would formalise the loss of the army's control over approximately one-third of the nation's territory.

Residents of the city are living in a state of heightened fear as armed festivities would devastate civilian life, infrastructure, and private property.

"The main roads leading into and out of the city to Chad, Khartoum, and Mellit have all been besieged by the RSF and because of that foodstuffs are in short supply and have become too expensive to afford," Mousa Abdelghani, a political observer from El Fasher, told The New Arab.

Widow of slain NYPD cop Jonathan Diller cries after career criminal Guy Rivera charged with first-degree murder
[NYPOST] A ruthless ex-con was arraigned on first-degree murder charges Tuesday in the traffic-stop shooting death of NYPD cop Jonathan Diller — as the slain hero’s widow sat in the midst of a sea of blue, the tears welling in her eyes.

Guy Rivera, 34, was arraigned in Queens Supreme Court on an indictment charging him with first and second degree murder, attempted murder and six counts of criminal possession of a weapon as dozens of New Yorks Finest packed the courtroom — standing with the slain cop’s family.

"Justice for Jonathan," read a sign held by one of mourners.

"I hope that vicious, violent mostly peaceful cop killer took a good look at the crowd in that courtroom because he’s going to see us every time he comes to court," NYPD PBA President Patrick Hendry told news hounds.

"Great husband, great father, just an all around great family man who loved being a police officer and loves his family," Hendry added.

Rivera is charged with shooting Diller, 31, during a routine traffic stop in Far Rockaway. Diller, the married father of a 1-year-old son, had gone to check on the suspicious-looking Kia Soul where Rivera was sitting with accused cohort Lindy Jones, who was behind the wheel.

Diller, spotting what looked like a gun in the pocket of Rivera’s sweatshirt, ordered the ex-con out of the car — only to have him open fire.

The bullet hit Diller below his bullet-proof vest. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!

The slain officer was posthumously promoted to the rank of detective.

"Detective Diller was shot and killed while trying to rid our streets of illegal weapons, a lawless act that was an affront to a civilized society," Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement.

"His tragic death is a painful reminder that we must never let up in our quest to get these guns and those who use them off of our streets," Katz said. "Our thoughts are with Detective Diller’s family, friends and colleagues as they continue to grieve. We will seek justice for him."

Rivera already had 21 arrests on his rap sheet and had a shiv stashed in his rectum at the time of Diller’s shooting,
Rivera already had 21 arrests on his rap sheet and had a shiv stashed in his rectum at the time of Diller’s shooting, with cops convinced the deadly duo was planning a heist.

Jones, 41, who had at least 14 prior busts, was arrested after the shooting and charged after cops found a second gun in the glove compartment.

At his funeral in Massapequa on March 30, Stephanie Diller called her slain husband a hero during a moving eulogy — with the couple’s young son, Ryan, nearby.

"My husband died a hero," she said. But he also lived like one. Our world will never be the same, but I know I speak for everyone when I say I could not be more proud of him."

Hendry reiterated Tuesday that the NYPD will always be there for her — with so many cops at the courthouse that they spilled into the hallway.

"This family is going through a living nightmare that no family should have to go through," the union chief said. "But they have our blue family now, who will be with them every step of the way."

Both Jones and Rivera are being held without bail.

Rivera faces a maximum prison sentence of life without parole if he is convicted, while Jones could face up to 30 years behind bars.

Britain
Sunak led the British Conservatives to disaster. But it's not over yet
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Vasily Egorov

[REGNUM] The main result of voting in the last municipal elections in England was the final confidence in the fate of the ruling Conservative Party. They should be perceived as the last electoral test before the parliamentary elections, which will take place in the fall. Here, English voters decided on candidates for municipal deputies, regional mayors and police commissioners. So the Conservatives managed to re-elect only 515 of their municipalities, and another 474 Conservatives lost their positions. It turns out that almost every second candidate from the party lost his constituency.
They made promises they never intended to keep, then proceeded to visibly break them. Voters resent that kind of thing.
Moreover, in terms of the number of deputies promoted to municipal representative bodies, they were inferior not only to Labor, but even to the Liberal Democrats, thus taking only the overall third place in the virtual overall standings. To understand the scale, the Liberal Democrats in the House of Commons have only 15 deputies, versus 345 Conservatives.

Labor has quite successfully regained influence in the once industrial north of England. That very north of England, which in 2019, for the first time in history, decided to vote for the Conservatives and Boris Johnson personally. The Liberal Democrats are confidently entering the south of England, where the Conservatives ruled for many years.

In short, Rishi Sunak's party is being pressed from all sides by competitors. As for the elections of regional mayors, the picture is even more clear.

Ten of the eleven winning mayors are Labor and only one is Conservative. Sunak's party lost its second incumbent mayor in this election.

By far, the most media-rich mayoral race was the re-election of London Mayor Sadiq Khan to a third term.

And here, too, conservatives have only themselves to blame.

Yes, London is indeed very different from the rest of England. Yes, there is a completely different ethnic composition of the population, and the city itself is much to the left on the political spectrum. However, Sadiq Khan is by no means universally loved by its residents. Add to this the sharp increase in crime and attempts to introduce draconian taxes on cars as part of the fight against emissions.

To succeed in the fight for the post of London mayor, all that was needed was a successful candidate. But for some reason the Conservatives promoted the unknown Susan Hall and lost by a margin of 10%. So Labor opened more than one case of champagne during the counting days. But there are a couple of points that may later come back to haunt their leader Keir Starmer.

First of all, it is worth noting the good results of the Green Party. This force has managed to win over left-wing students who are not happy with Starmer's efforts to steer the party towards the political centre. Overly ambitious left-wing projects (such as, for example, the “green transition”) were thrown into the trash by Labor, and the inner circle of Jeremy Corbyn (former Labor leader, popular with left-wing activists and youth) was pushed to the party fringes. It is these dissatisfied people who view the greens as a new refuge.

The Greens themselves are becoming even stronger in traditionally left-wing university districts such as Bristol and Norwich. So far, this result is not fatal for the Laborites, but everything will change after they come to power and the inevitable first mistakes.

Even more noteworthy is the exodus of the Muslim electorate from the Labor camp.

For the past six months, Keir Starmer has had to justify his half-hearted position on Gaza and Israel. Inconsistency on this sensitive issue has led to politically active Muslims looking for a new party and leaving Labor in droves.

Some of them have probably interpreted the term "green transition" too literally and have already left Labor under the green banner of environmental activists (such candidates won in Bradford and Manchester). Others are looking for smaller batches. For example, the labor party of George Galloway, who at one time left the ranks of Labor because of the war in Iraq.

The Reform Party still remains on the political field. The same brainchild of one of the main heroes of Brexit, Nigel Farage.

The party fielded its candidates in only 12% of municipalities and managed to win only a couple of them. Another thing is that in those districts where the party was present on the ballot, the candidate received more than 10%. This is a death sentence for conservatives. The Reform Party will not win parliamentary seats, but will become an ideal spoiler for Rishi Sunak's Conservatives, drawing votes from part of the right-wing electorate.

The surprising result of this election was that the dissatisfied within the Conservative Party finally resigned themselves to the inevitable. There are years ahead in opposition, and perhaps even the complete disappearance of the party, which in other circumstances would already be thinking about preparing for the bicentenary.

A week before the elections, conservative oppositionists anonymously declared that the party's crushing defeat would be a trigger for internal rebellion. A couple of days passed and there was silence around Rishi.

This silence is easy to explain.

It’s just that the dissatisfied never had a single candidate on whom everyone could rely. Which means Rishi Sunak needn't worry. He will not be evicted from Downing Street now, but in a couple of months. A Labor victory in the autumn parliamentary elections is now inevitable.

Snow in the Kremlin. It's time for the world to shiver from the cold
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Anton Belikov

[REGNUM] I remember a Louis Vuitton suitcase standing on Red Square. This suitcase stood on the very same paving stones along which the Moscow militia went straight from the parade into battle. Somewhere among them, my great-grandfather was lost forever near Yelnya.

Here, in this square, Peter the Great cut off the heads of the disobedient archers. Here, in this wall, lies Gagarin.

The suitcase was huge. It was a statement in itself. A boorish trader entered the house built by our fathers. Without taking off his shoes or saying hello, he casually threw a suitcase with money on the floor.

“I’ll buy everything, I’ll sort everything out,” said the suitcase.

It seemed that in the invisible battle of the department store and the ancient Kremlin walls, the store won completely and irrevocably. On the one hand, the Historical Museum witnessed this victory, and on the other, St. Basil's Cathedral.

The place of execution seemed nearby to be some strange, archaic absurdity unnecessary to this world. Minin and Pozharsky got wet in the rain. In the corner of the square, the Nikolskaya Tower, the youngest of the Kremlin towers, once blown up by Napoleonic soldiers, pierced the gloomy Moscow sky with cosmic neo-Gothic architecture.

When I first came to Red Square as a child, it was empty, scary, cold. The Kremlin itself was the same. I remember my grandmother telling me how in one of the buildings at night you could see a light in one of the rooms: the country was sleeping, and Stalin was working.

We Russians, from here, from the Kremlin, began our great deeds - and here we finished them. So it was and so it will be.

This place is filled with symbols, it oozes with the memory of a nation. These ancient walls are not just brick and stone. They have their own will, which they breathe, and this is the will of the people - along their entire historical path: the will of those who live now, the will of our long-dead ancestors and the will of those who have not yet been born.

What a dwarf, comical word - “democracy”. Today Putin has not uttered it even once. Why? Yes, because democracy today means the rejection of memory and history in the name of a suitcase, and also the sacrifice of one’s own children to the same suitcase.

Unconsciousness.

Snow. It started snowing in Moscow today. This doesn't happen by accident. This snow fell the same for everyone: for the Kremlin regiment, for deputies, for Muscovites, for the president. This snow is a sign that the comfortable time is over, over for everyone. This snow was needed to make the ghost of the Louis Vuitton suitcase disappear from the square forever.

The Putin of this term is not a president or a hired manager, as the liberals dreamed of. This is a man who has the historical mission to take us across the dark waters into a new world. He is already on a par with Ivan the Terrible, Dmitry Donskoy, Peter the Great, Dmitry Pozharsky.

In ancient times, the political intention and “long will” of the people were recorded in the official title of the ruler:

—The standard designation for the Holy Roman Emperor was “August Emperor of the Romans.”

- The official title of the Pope is: “Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Pontifex Maximus, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the Vatican City State, Servant of the Servants of God.”

— The title of the last emperor of Byzantium: “Constantine Palaiologos, in Christ the true emperor and autocrat of the Romans.”

— In the canonical version of the letter of Sultan Mehmed IV to the Zaporozhye Cossacks, the following title is used: “I, Sultan and ruler of the Sublime Porte, son of Muhammad, brother of the Sun and Moon, viceroy of God on earth, ruler of the kingdoms of Macedon, Babylon, Jerusalem, Great and Lesser Egypt, king over kings, ruler over rulers, incomparable knight, invincible warrior, owner of the tree of life, persistent guardian of the tomb of Jesus Christ, hope and comforter of Muslims, intimidator and great protector of Christians, I command (...).”

- “Great Sovereign, by the grace of God the Tsar and Grand Duke of All Rus', Vladimir, Moscow, Novgorod, Pskov, Ryazan, Tver, Yugorsk, Perm, Vyatsky, Bulgarian and others, the Tsar of Kazan, the Tsar of Astrakhan, the Tsar of Siberia,” “and all the Northern ruler of the country,” read the full title adopted on the day of coronation by Ivan IV the Terrible.

... master of the entire Northern Side. Snow. It was snowing in the Kremlin today. The time has come for the world to shudder from the cold. The world is waiting for the breath of the ancient north wind: from the city of London to the beaches of California, from the Cote d'Azur to Jerusalem.

Europe
'Nothing military.' What actually burned down at the Berlin plant
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Gregor Spitzen

[REGNUM] A major fire that broke out on Friday at the Diehl Gruppe plant in southwest Berlin immediately enveloped the German capital not only in a cloud of acrid black smoke, but also in all sorts of conspiracy theories.

Although Berlin police told reporters on Tuesday that the preliminary investigation had revealed "no signs of sabotage" at this time, some reporters had a good imagination, fueled by an article in The Financial Times about ubiquitous Russian agents sleeping and seeing how to arrange another petty mischief at the enterprises of the European military-industrial complex, they continue to look for a black cat in a dark room.

An article published on Sunday in a British publication with the headline “Intelligence agencies warn: Russia is preparing sabotage across Europe” has certainly fueled conspiracy theories around the Berlin fire.

Thus, journalists recalled that in mid-April, two Russian Germans were arrested in Bayreuth (Bavaria) for allegedly plotting attacks on military and logistics facilities in Germany on behalf of Russia.

At the end of April in the UK, the Crown Prosecution Service also charged two more men with starting a fire at a warehouse containing aid supplies for Ukraine on instructions from the Russian government.

Finally, in Sweden, security services are currently investigating a series of recent train accidents that they believe may be acts of sabotage.

A number of recent statements from other European capitals fit perfectly into a similar outline of pan-European hysteria: a statement by the Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic, according to which Russia tried to destroy the signaling systems on the Czech railways; a message from the Estonian Internal Security Service accusing Russia of organizing an attempt on the car of the Minister of Internal Affairs in February 2024; and of course, a warning from the French Ministry of Defense about possible sabotage attacks by Russia on military targets this year.

Well, how, pray tell, in such a situation can an ordinary German believe that a fire is just a fire?

The trigger for most speculation about the man-made nature of the fire is, of course, the fact that the Nuremberg industrial concern Diehl Gruppe is engaged not only in the production of metal structures for the automotive and aviation industries, but also carries out defense orders for the German government. In particular, the concern's enterprises manufacture the IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system, currently used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Journalists eager for sensations are not stopped even by the fact that Diehl’s military products are produced not in Berlin, but in Überlingen - that is, on the other side of Germany.

It is quite possible that the interest of the press was fueled by the fact that until 2012, products were manufactured at this enterprise by the company Schempp & Decker Präzisionsteile und Oberflächentechnik, which then came under the control of Diehl. However, as a spokesman for the concern stated, this company is currently not part of the Diehl Defense arms division and does not supply products to other Diehl Gruppe companies.

The morbid interest of reporters could also be aroused by the fact that until recently, the corporate office of Diehl Defense, responsible for external communications, was located on the territory of the untimely burned enterprise.

However, the company's PR and GR divisions, which already have nothing to do with production processes, recently moved to Potsdamer Platz, apparently for greater presence and easier communication with the Ministry of Defense and the administrative divisions of the Bundeswehr.

Let us briefly recall how events developed in the German capital: a fire broke out on the territory of the plant on Friday morning and quickly spread throughout the territory, especially affecting the electroplating workshop for cars, where hazardous substances were also stored.

The situation was complicated by the fact that during the fire, part of the building collapsed, which contained toxic chemicals - in particular, sulfuric acid and copper cyanide, the fumes of which, if inhaled, can be very dangerous to humans.

At the peak of the fire, the Berlin fire brigade was forced to deploy up to 220 firefighters and about 50 vehicles, including the fire brigade of Schönefeld Airport and the internal fire brigade of the pharmaceutical concern Bayer, which is well acquainted with extinguishing chemical fires.

At the same time, all employees of the affected plant were able to leave the fire scene on their own, and, according to authorities, no one was injured. The same cannot be said about the plant building, which was badly damaged by fire and is in danger of collapse. Its "controlled demolition" is expected to begin Tuesday, police said.

The Office of the Fire Marshal of the State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the investigation.

Although a huge cloud of smoke appeared over Berlin on Friday and was preparing to move north across the city, causing mild panic in the German capital, elevated levels of pollutants were detected in the air only at the site of the incident, so there was no widespread alarm about chemical hazards in Berlin. was announced.

The situation is slightly worse with waste water and foam after extinguishing a fire: there is a danger that some of the waste still managed to leak through the barrier of sandbags and end up in the sewer system and the nearby Teltow Canal.

Be that as it may, on Sunday afternoon, as the author of IA Regnum, who specially arrived in the German capital to study the circumstances of the incident, personally noted, there was no longer any poisonous cloud over Berlin, there was no panic among the townspeople, and the remains of the plant continued to burn out peacefully under vigilant under the supervision of German firefighters.

Alas, sometimes you still have to admit that a fire is just a fire that broke out in a galvanizing shop as a result of an accident. No matter how much we sometimes want to witness a sensation.

Fifth Column
Pursue anti-Israel 'outside agitators' disrupting colleges — and end the nonsense for good
[NYPOST] The left and its media allies want you to believe the protests roiling college campuses are spontaneous uprisings of morally fervent students worried about Gazoo
Then they bitched and moaned about genocide when their butts handed to them in the entirely justified retaliation.
war victims. Don’t fall for that claim.

These protesters don’t represent most students or the American public.

Yet Monday, Columbia University canceled graduation ceremonies, kowtowing to the radical fringe with whom school leaders largely agree.

Students and their families be damned.

Here are the facts: Just a miniscule 2% of people ages 18 to 29 polled by Harvard’s Kennedy School named the Israel-Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
conflict as their top political concern, compared with double digits worried about inflation and other economic issues.

Students could care less about this issue.

Claims that today’s campus riots are reminiscent of 1968 when students closed down campuses to protest the Vietnam War are nonsense.

Back then, Gallup found 46% of respondents in that age group considered the Vietnam War the nation’s biggest problem. Not 2%.

Ray Kelly, former NYPD commissioner, nailed it Sunday when he said the nationwide turmoil "looks like a conspiracy."

He added, "the federal government should be investigating."

Organized outside groups are behind much of the campus violence.

Hours before the storming of Columbia’s Hamilton Hall, an outside organization — The People’s Forum, known for its anti-Israel activities and links to the Chinese Communist Party — started gearing up for its Hamilton Hall invasion.

In a meeting, TPF’s leader spewed invectives against Columbia.

Hours later, protesters smashed the glass doors of Hamilton Hall, vandalizing and seizing the building.

When Columbia President Minouche Shafik finally called in police late on Tuesday, 13 of the 44 arrested in the building had no affiliation with the university.

Reflecting on the incidents at Columbia and other New York campuses, Mayor Adams said, "Individuals unaffiliated with these schools had entered these different campuses and, in some cases, were even training students in unlawful protest tactics."

New York University Board Vice Chairman Bill Berkley says these occupations appear to have been orchestrated by external groups. He wants the FBI to investigate

Nigerian Schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu Married To Two Boko Haram Leaders, Now Has Two Kids
[SAHARAREPORTERS] Nigeria's forgotten schoolgirl from Yobe State, Leah Sharibu, has married at least two Boko Haram leaders including Ali Abdallah who has now become a chief judge of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Lake Chad basin, a "repentant" terrorist revealed on Tuesday.

Sharibu, a Christian girl, was one of the 110 female students of the Government Girls' Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, who were abducted on February 19, 2018, by the Boko Haram terrorists.

The "repentant" Boko Haram fighter told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that Sharibu's husband, Abdallah was recently appointed Chief Judge of the terror group in the Lake Chad basin.

“Leah was first married to Abdulrahman after she converted to Islam and they had one child, a baby boy. Her husband was killed in an air raid after which she remarried a top commander, Ali Abdallah to whom she bore a baby girl," the Boko Haram ex-fighter said.

Leah was delivered of the baby after her forceful marriage to a top Boko Haram commander, according to a reliable source close to the terror group.

The source said Leah, who refused to renounce her Christian faith, was forced to accept Islam before being married to a top commander of the terror group.

Also on March 23, 2021, SaharaReporters reported how three years and five weeks since her abduction in Dapchi, Yobe State, a United States-based group, US-Nigeria Law Group, lamented the plight of the abandoned Dapchi "heroine Christian" schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu, with a report she has given birth to a second child in captivity.

It would be recalled that Leah, still held in captivity, was forced to accept Islam before being married off to a top Boko Haram commander after she refused to renounce her Christian faith.

Speaking with SaharaReporters on Tuesday about the development around Sharibu in captivity, the repentant terrorist said, "Leah Sharibu was married off to Ali Abdallah, her second husband after her first husband, Abdulraman was killed in a military air raid.

Asked how he got the information, he said, "We still communicate with former compatriots who are still in the jungle; our aim is to help them abandon terrorism. You know, those of us who laid down arms did so after safety assurances from Nigerian authorities. Following the deal, we're now serving as agents to convince former compatriots to abandon the ideology.

"Like me, a good number of us abandoned the ideology after realising that we were actually on a wrong path; abducting and killing innocent people for no just course."

"I had to take the decision to quit terrorism despite formally serving as of of Abubakar Shekau's close aides before his demise. Yes, I was under Shekau's tutelage right from kindergarten in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital before relocating to Sambisa forest," he added.

protesters and broke up an encampment at the University of Amsterdam early on Tuesday as student protests in solidarity with Paleostinians swept college campuses in Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and North America.

Police said the crackdown was "necessary to restore order" at the Netherlands' elite university, which follows a wave of campus protests in the US last month.

Videos from the protest in Amsterdam show police using a mechanical digger to destroy barricades, while officers holding batons and shields moved in to disperse protesters.

Some officers beat protesters and pulled down tents after activists refused to follow police orders to leave the site.

"The protest in this form created a very unsafe situation, partly due to the barricades that prevented emergency services from entering the site," police said in a statement.

A spokesperson for the university also said that while they were able to support the protest during the day, they could not allow students to stay overnight.

Scores of protesters started the encampment on Monday, calling for universities in Amsterdam to cut off academic ties with Israel.

Remains of soldiers of the Great Patriotic War were reburied in Ingushetia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

The Russian Federation continues to uncover its past in WWII.

[Regnum] A ceremony for the reburial of the remains of 25 soldiers from the Great Patriotic War took place in Ingushetia. The event took place on May 4 in Malgobek. The remains of the soldiers were discovered during the spring stage of the Terek Frontier memorial watch.

According to the head of Ingushetia, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, it took more than 80 years to return the names of these people, but now, thanks to search engines, they are known. He expressed gratitude to the project participants for their work aimed at preserving historical memory and the truth about the Great Patriotic War. “We will continue to make every effort to prevent our enemies from distorting the history of our great country and the important role that our people played in the victory in the Great Patriotic War,” said Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov.

Searchers from the Tersky Frontier memory watch, representing Ingushetia, Chechnya, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia, Astrakhan, Samara and the Stavropol Territory, participated in the excavations on a section of the Tersky Range in the Malgobek region. Since the beginning of April, in addition to the remains of Red Army soldiers, it was possible to discover a personal medallion and some other things of the soldiers.

Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov recalled the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who called the search movement a unique phenomenon in Russian public life. “It managed to unite tens of thousands of those who took upon themselves a noble mission - these people, according to him, feel sincere love for their country and feel a personal responsibility for preserving the memory of historical events,” the head of the republic emphasized.

The great respect with which burial sites are treated in Ingushetia is evidenced by a decree signed by the head of the republic in May. In accordance with it, the day of events aimed at the improvement and sanitary cleaning of cemeteries in the region is determined. According to the decree of Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, every year, on the first Saturday of May, collective events will be held throughout Ingushetia to clean up mass graves.

Respect for burials also applies to memorial complexes. So, in particular, in 2023, the process of reconstruction of the GIoazot Kashmash memorial in Nazran began. The reconstruction began with the support of the Safmar charitable foundation and its founder, businessman and philanthropist Mikhail Gutseriev. The reconstruction of all cemeteries in Ingushetia was also launched. The entrepreneur allocated significant funds for these purposes. In 2023, 25 Muslim cemeteries and five Orthodox cemeteries were reconstructed on the territory of the republic. Reconstruction continues this year - it is planned to overhaul 39 Muslim and four Orthodox cemeteries.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: May 7, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:26 The SBU reported that it prevented an attempt on Zelensky, as well as other representatives of the military-political leadership of the state. The assassination attempt was prepared by carefully concealed colonels of the State Security Administration, and they were led by FSB agents from Moscow. Experts say that the SBU officers showed unprecedented professionalism. Read more in the material Multi-level operation.

22:20 Zelensky in an evening video message named the hottest directions at the front: Pokrovskoye, Kurakhovskoye, Kramatorskoye, Limanskoye, Vremyevskoye, Kupyanskoye. The president also announced international “meetings and documents that will definitely become news” in the coming weeks, as well as new visits to Ukraine by partners and new security agreements.

In addition, Zelensky said that he had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Cape Verde - this is the first African country to confirm participation in the Peace Summit.

21:52 There is not a single occupier in Chasovoy Yar, Donetsk region, said the KRAKEN active action unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, which has been defending the city for a month now. “The fighters heroically hold the defense, daily destroy numerous enemies, burn enemy armored vehicles and take prisoners. The enemy is trying to advance from different directions, but thanks to the well-coordinated work of the unit, there is not a single occupier in the city now,” the message says.

21:47 The fifth “inauguration” of Vladimir Putin took place in the Kremlin. Ukraine does not recognize the so-called “elections” that the Russians held, including in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, and, accordingly, the “presidency” also does not recognize, about which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a special statement. But not all of Ukraine’s partners share the same opinion. More details - in the material the United States recognizes it, Kiev does not.

20:18 During the day, the Russians carried out 14 strikes with kamikaze drones in the Nikopol district of the Dnepropetrovsk region and twice fired at populated areas with artillery, said the head of the OVA Sergei Lysak. Four people were injured, ten private houses and power lines were damaged.

19:25 The Cabinet of Ministers supported Zelensky’s draft decree on the creation of a separate branch of troops within the Armed Forces of Ukraine - the Unmanned Systems Forces, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said. Now the Ministry of Defense must prepare and submit a corresponding bill to the government for consideration.

19:21 Denmark is allocating 250 million Danish kroner (about 33.5 million euros) for urgent humanitarian needs in Ukraine, the country’s Foreign Ministry reported. The package provides basic aid in the form of food, medicine, water and housing to Ukrainians in the worst-affected areas of the war. Particular attention is paid to protecting the most vulnerable segments of the population.

19:10 Zelensky said that today he held a number of international negotiations with the leaders of Belgium, Spain, Latvia and Finland. I personally invited them to the Peace Summit in Switzerland and thanked them for confirming their participation.

18:49 Latvia, within the framework of the IT coalition, transferred communications equipment worth about 100 thousand euros to Ukraine. It should provide brigades with communications at the tactical level, the Ministry of Defense reported.

18:22 In the Belgorod region, a Russian drone fell on the territory of a kindergarten. According to the opposition Russian publication Astra, on the morning of May 6, an advanced Russian Lancet drone was discovered on the territory of a state kindergarten in the village of Oktyabrsky. The drone did not explode and no one was injured. Security forces evacuated 47 children and 30 kindergarten employees and seized the fallen UAV.

18:14 Men liable for military service do not give up their attempts to illegally cross the Ukrainian border. In general, there are more and more people who decide to flee the country. The reason is the new law on mobilization, which will come into force on May 18. The section of the border with Romania has become a “popular” place for crossing, but there is difficult terrain and the Tisza River is quite dangerous. Read about why it is so dangerous in the material River of Death (18+).

17:47 Since the beginning of a full-scale war, the SBU has opened more than 2.5 thousand cases against traitors, almost 500 cases against spotters and eliminated dozens of Russian intelligence networks, head of the Security Service Vasily Malyuk said in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine. According to him, last year alone the SBU exposed 47 agent networks, and since the beginning of this year - 11 more. Malyuk added that most Russian agents are detained at the stage when they have not yet had time to cause harm.

17:23 TCC warned Ukrainians about criminal liability for messages on social networks about the movements of their employees. Such messages may be regarded as obstruction of the legitimate activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period, the Khmelnitsky TCC emphasized.

16:51 About half of the missiles from North Korea that Russia fired at Ukraine did not reach their target, the Office of the Prosecutor General told Reuters. In total, prosecutors examined the wreckage of 21 of the roughly 50 North Korean ballistic missiles Russia fired at Ukraine between late December and late February. About half of the missiles strayed from the programmed trajectory and exploded in the air; in such cases, the debris was not found, the Office of the Prosecutor General explained.

They also noted that the last recorded launch of a North Korean KN-23 missile against Ukraine was carried out on February 27. The total number of recorded launches coincides with intelligence data, according to which the DPRK supplied Russia with about 50 ballistic missiles. At the same time, Kyiv is still investigating whether Pyongyang sent instructors to Russia to monitor missile launches.

16:20 Today, two X-59/X-69 guided aircraft missiles were destroyed in the Odessa region, the Air Force reported.

16:16 Belarus will also conduct nuclear exercises in parallel with Russia, said Secretary of State of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Volfovich. According to him, Minsk “will conduct a check of the army using weapons capable of using tactical nuclear weapons,” and this check will be “synchronized” with Russia. The Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that the country has already begun a sudden inspection of non-strategic nuclear weapons carriers. As part of the inspection, the Iskander division and the Su-25 squadron will be put on alert.

16:07 NATO Speaker Farah Dahlalla called Moscow's nuclear rhetoric "dangerous and irresponsible." "Our collective deterrence and defense will continue to protect every inch of Alliance territory," she said. Dakhlallah emphasized that “Ukraine has the right to self-defense enshrined in the UN Charter, and NATO allies will continue to support this right.” And Russia, in her words, “started this illegal war and must end it.”

15:35 The head of the Polish military counterintelligence service, Jaroslaw Strozhik, said that Putin is already ready for a small military operation against a NATO country: “Putin, of course, is already ready for some kind of mini-operation against one of the Baltic countries, for example, to enter the famous Narva. Or land on one of the Swedish islands."

15:26 Kosovo will transfer ammunition for 120-mm, 60-mm and 81-mm mortars to Ukraine, Defense Minister Eyup Machedonsi said. He also said that the partially recognized republic has already transferred tactical vehicles and armored vehicles to Ukraine, which will be sent to the Ukrainian Armed Forces next week.

15:08 EU member states will buy weapons for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Ukrainian manufacturers using funds from the European Peace Facility, said Minister for Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin following the results of the Ukraine-EU Defense Industries Forum. The minister noted that the EPF is an effective tool that has already been successfully used to compensate European partners for the costs of supplying their own weapons to Ukraine.

14:33 Scholz called on developing countries to take part in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland. According to the chancellor, if countries such as China, Brazil and India call on Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine, the chances of a quick peace will increase.

13:51 The SBU reported that it had exposed a network of agents of the 5th service of the FSB of the Russian Federation, who were preparing the murder of Zelensky and other representatives of the highest military-political leadership of the state. The network included two colonels of the State Security Administration. One of the tasks of the intelligence network was to search for executors among the military close to the president’s security who could take the head of state hostage and then kill him. In addition to Zelensky, the Russians planned to eliminate the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk, the head of the GUR Kirill Budanov and others. For example, Budanov was going to be liquidated before Easter.

The enemy’s plan was this: first, the recruited agent had to observe the movement of the protected person and transmit information to the Russian Federation. It was planned to launch a missile strike at the coordinates of the building where the official was supposed to be located. Then they were going to attack with a drone the people remaining at the site of the defeat. After this, the Russians planned to hit with another missile, including to destroy traces of the drone’s use. The suspect was chosen as a preventive measure - detention. They face life imprisonment.

13:40 Some EU countries oppose the plan to use profits from frozen Russian assets to purchase weapons for Ukraine, Politico writes. According to the publication's sources among European diplomats, countries opposed to military assistance to Kyiv may limit themselves to providing humanitarian assistance to Kyiv.

13:26 The Cabinet of Ministers extended for another month the deferments from conscription for military service during mobilization, granted to those liable for military service by decision of the Ministry of Economy, said the permanent representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk. According to him, this applies to reservation decisions that have not expired on the day the decision was made.

13:19 In Kiev, at the central railway station, a new information point for recruiting into the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been opened, the Ministry of Defense reported. Information about employment in the Armed Forces will be provided by Ukrzaliznytsia employees.

12:55 The Cabinet of Ministers has updated the border crossing rules for male students under the academic mobility program. To cross the border, you must not be subject to conscription during mobilization; be between 18 and 22 years of age; become a participant in academic mobility for a period of one semester; study full-time; obtain an educational bachelor's degree in any specialty, or a master's degree in medical, pharmaceutical or veterinary fields.

12:14 Putin said in his inaugural speech that Russia “does not refuse dialogue with Western countries, the choice is theirs.”

12:08 Borrell said that after lengthy discussions with EU member states, he had sent messages to them all with his understanding that “the right thing to do would be not to attend” Putin’s inauguration. "My advice was not to do this. I think most member states will not participate," the diplomat said. Borrell recalled that the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin and that the elections in Russia were “neither fair nor fair.”

Meanwhile, Putin officially took office as president of Russia - his inauguration ceremony took place in the Kremlin.

11:39 The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security approved presidential bills to extend martial law and general mobilization for 90 days - until August 11, 2024. Parliament should approve them at its meeting tomorrow, said People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak. This will be the 11th decision regarding martial law and general mobilization since the start of a full-scale war.

11:03 Energy workers resumed power supplies to almost all consumers in the Sumy region, which were de-energized after a strike on a high-voltage substation, but on May 6, the enemy struck another facility in the region - the oblenergo substation, the Ministry of Energy reported. As a result, the overhead line and six other substations were disconnected, and household consumers were de-energized.
