[Breitbart] The Women’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor is set to hold a webinar titled “Equity in the Workplace – The Power of Trans Inclusion in the Workforce,” where attendees will hear from leftwing activists.
The Women’s Bureau of the Department of Labor, which is hosting the event, was created “to safeguard the interests of working women; to advocate for their equality and economic security for themselves and their families; and to promote quality work environments.”
Attendees will hear from three different speakers, including Kiara St. James, who founded and is the executive director of the New York Transgender Advocacy Group (NYTAG). The organization hosted a series of events in early June, including one that took place on “international sex worker’s day” that discussed the decriminalization of prostitution in conjunction with a leftwing organization called Decriminalize Sex Work.
Marissa Miller, the founder of Trans Solutions Research and Resource Center will be addressing the attendees of the webinar as well.
Attendees will also hear from Zahara Bassett, a man attempting to become a woman, who is the founder and CEO of a leftwing organization called Life is Work. The organization seeks to “employ trans women of color,” and “uplift trans people of color through direct services, activism and advocacy.” Life is Work describes itself as “the first Black and Brown Trans-led social services and advocacy organization in the Midwest.”
Wendy Chun-Hoon, who was appointed by Biden, is the current director of the Women’s Bureau. Her biography explains that she has experience “building cross-movement organizing among paid leave advocates, communities of color, groups working for reproductive and disability justice, equality for LGBTQ individuals, and organized labor.”

[WFLA via Gateway] Twelve people have been arrested in an undercover operation targeting child predators in Polk County, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The sting, titled Operation Child Protector II, was done in collaboration with the Auburndale and Winter Haven police departments.
TRENDING: BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: After New Mexico County Commissioner Couy Griffin Votes to Decertify Recent Illegitimate Election Results - He's Sentenced to 14 Days for Peacefully Protesting the Stolen 2020 Election on Jan 6
Deputies said four of the suspects went to a location to have sex with girls they thought were 13 or 15 years old. Instead, they were greeted by undercover law enforcement.
The other eight suspects were arrested on warrants that alleged they groomed girls by sending them sexually explicit content.
One suspect, Zachary Hudson, was identified as a bus driver for Walt Disney World. Sheriff Grady Judd said Hudson would have sexually charged chats while on the job at Disney World.
"So if your bus was running late at Disney, he was busy taking pictures of himself and talking trash to what he thought was a little girl," Judd said.

Not the first time somebody got a sneaker stuck in the toe clip during the dismount. Would have been funnier if it was both feet and he went over like Artie Johnson on a tricycle and just lay there. Now *that* would be a photo op.
Personally, I give the old grifter credit for still being able to ride a bike.

Hard to do in the 2020 "election", but the Left was all over Ronald Wilson Reagan and (gulp) John McCain for being too old.
But showing this clown on a bike ride [sic] is no better than Putin catching a big fish for finding an ancient relic while on a diving "expedition". Put Biden in some skates and a hockey uniform, and then I'll reconsider, lol.

Glancing at Microsoft's Azure Synapse web page, it appears to be a database in the cloud.
Having worked with both Microsoft and Oracle, I'd recommend Oracle over Microsoft.
And from what I can gather about this "cloud" thingy, it's customers accessing Microsoft's disk storage over the internet. So, IOW, you put your database on Microsoft's disks and access it over the internet.
I count at least two major vulnerabilities there: 1) the disks are owned and operated by Microsoft, 'nuff said, and 2) your data is flapping out on the internet like underwear drying on a clothes line. You never want your mission critical database directly exposed to the internet especially if you're relying on Microsoft to keep it secure.
I recently installed a one terabyte solid state hard drive on my computer. It was about the size of a baseball card. That's an obscene amount of storage. When I used to work for a mid-sized company we could have put four instances of our Oracle database on this one little disk without any need for striping over multiple old style spinning disks. Why then, would we ever need a cloud?

Most people today don't know any better so they spend their hard earned money on Windows or Mac. But Linux is a viable alternative and it's what they call Open Source so it doesn't cost anything. You don't necessarily have to be a nerd to use it either although, if your are a nerd, Linux is a helluva lot more fun. I never looked back after I put Linux on my computer.

[Breitbart] Ten years ago, in 2012, former President Barack Obama created the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program via executive order that has allowed nearly 800,000 illegal aliens to evade arrest and deportation.
Standards for the Obama program were set so low that tens of thousands of illegal aliens with prior arrest records for crimes like murder, rape, and kidnapping were able to secure DACA status.
In 2018, then-President Trump’s administration released comprehensive data on DACA, previously hidden by the Obama administration, that revealed the extent to which the program had successfully helped shield criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
From 2012 to 2018, about 53,792 illegal aliens were awarded DACA despite having prior arrest records. Meanwhile, nearly 8,000 illegal aliens awarded DACA were later arrested for crimes, the data shows.
[Breitbart] A new Border Patrol enforcement policy has been disseminated to agents warning them not to enforce immigration laws or attempt to arrest migrants near waterways, walls, canals, or other barriers. According to a CBP source, the policy most likely foreshadows pending administrative disciplinary charges against members of the agency’s Horse Patrol Unit lodged during the Haitian migrant crisis in Del Rio.
The source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, says the document also warns against repatriating migrants without due process by encouraging them to return to Mexico. The memorandum from Tony L. Barker, Acting Chief of the Border Patrol’s Law Enforcement Directorate, was disseminated on Friday.
[Jpost] A Sikh worshipper and a Taliban fighter were killed following a blast in a car loaded with explosives.
An attack on a Sikh temple in the Afghan capital of Kabul killed at least two people and injured seven on Saturday, following a blast in a car loaded with explosives, officials said, but there was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Grey smoke billowed over the area in images aired by domestic broadcaster Tolo. A Taliban interior spokesman said attackers had laden a car with explosives but it had detonated before reaching its target.
Taliban authorities were securing the site, he added.
"There were around 30 people inside the temple," said a temple official, Gornam Singh. "We don't know how many of them are alive or how many dead."
Temple authorities did not know what to do, as the Taliban were not allowing them inside, Singh told Reuters.
A spokesman for Kabul's commander said his forces had taken control of the area and cleared it of attackers. One Sikh worshipper had been killed in the attack and one Taliban fighter killed during the clearing operation, he added.
AFGHAN SIKHS
Sikhs are a tiny religious minority in largely Muslim Afghanistan, comprising about 300 families before the country fell to the Taliban. But many left afterward, say members of the community and media.
Like other religious minorities, Sikhs have been a continual target of violence in Afghanistan. An attack at another temple in Kabul in 2020 that killed 25 was claimed by Islamic State.
Saturday's explosion follows a blast at a mosque in the northern city of Kunduz the previous day that killed one person and injured two, according to authorities.

How would that affect the civilian supply of .223 and 5.56 ammunition? We understand that as much as 30% of the commercial market’s sales volume of .223/5.56 is produced by Lake City.

M855 and SS109 are military grade. There are other sources for .223 and 5.56. M855 has a longer range than civilian .223. At the moment I don't see this as a big deal except it will deny civilian access to military grade ammo. The M855 comes in stripper clips in olive drab boxes of 30 rounds.

So rather than letting the public subsidize excess capacity in the production plant they want to idle that capacity. Smart. Sheer Genius, even! It's not that wars suddenly occur...
[Townhall] Kicking off its public hearings on June 9 with a primetime event that failed to meet expectations, the House's select committee investigating the events of January 6 is trying its best to make former President Donald Trump a political pariah who faces criminal penalties or is at least seen as unelectable by Americans.
But, as a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll conducted after the J6 committee's primetime hearing and during subsequent televised proceedings shows, Americans would still rather have Trump in office than current President Joe Biden.
The survey of more than 1,500 adults conducted June 10 through June 13 puts Joe Biden at the worst polling performance of his presidency — and shows how little the January 6 committee and its mainstream media advocates have been able to sour Americans on President Trump.
Most notably, despite a picture the mainstream media, Democrats, and squishy Republicans have painted of President Trump as the perpetrator of a coup attempt that sought to throw the United States into a constitutional crisis, Americans aren't buying it.
When asked who they'd vote for if a presidential election were held today, 44 percent said they'd vote for Donald Trump while 42 percent said they'd vote for Joe Biden.
Further refuting the claims of the January 6 committee and the breathless mainstream media coverage are Americans' opinions on the next presidential election in 2024. Only 21 percent of Americans think Biden should run for reelection. Among those who voted for Biden in 2020, a full 40 percent say he should not run again.

CBP this week released new data on people crossing southern border illegally
So far this fiscal year, 50 migrants on the terror watchlist have been caught
That is up from 15 in fiscal 2021 and single digits each of the prior four years
A record 239,416 migrants attempted to cross the border illegally in May
In December - which is part of the ongoing 2022 fiscal year - U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Sector busted a 21-year-old Saudi Arabian national with ties to a Yemeni terror group.
While the man's name was not released, the sector confirmed him 'as a positive match linked to several Yemeni subjects of interests.'
In an unusual twist, the suspect was wearing a volunteer paramedics jacket from an ambulance company in Central Oneida County, New York.
Homeland Security officials have said that border resources are exhausted when agents face 5,000 migrants per day. Last month, they saw nearly 8,000 per day.
Border agents say there were a higher-than-usual number of repeat crossings in May due to the fact that migrants expelled under Title 42, a pandemic-era restriction currently tied up in court, face no legal repercussions if they try to cross again.
The number of unique individuals attempted to cross in May was 177,793, and 25 percent of those stopped by agents had attempted to cross at least once before in the prior 12 months, according to CBP. The average re-encounter rate prior to Title 42 was 15 percent.
Most migrants attempting to cross in May were not families but single adults - 69 percent.
And unlike previous months, Title 42 is no longer the main authority under which migrants are expelled, only 42 percent of migrants were removed under the CDC's health order.
Most of the migrants expelled under Title 42 were single adults - only about one in six who came in families with children under 18 were subject to Title 42. Unaccompanied children are exempt from the rule.
Fifty-eight percent were expelled under Title 8. Under Title 8, a U.S. immigration policy used when migrants who try to cross unlawfully cannot establish any 'credible fear' basis for being in the country. DHS has said it will expand use of Title 8 once Title 42 is gone.
The Biden administration planned to end Title 42 on May 23 but a federal judge in Louisiana blocked the move three days before.
Migrants have been expelled more than 2 million times without a chance to seek asylum since the rule took effect in March 2020.
[Your News, h.t. Epoch Times Premium] Dr. Anthony Fauci said he was unable to commit to stop federal funding from going to Chinese scientific research, despite the U.S. intelligence community assessing the regime as America’s top adversary.
Fauci, laid up at home with the disease he tried to stop, made the remarks while appearing virtually at the Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee hearing on June 16, during an exchange with Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas).
"The NIH is still funding research in China, at least $8 million since 2020. In the Intelligence Community’s 2022 Annual Threat Assessment, the Chinese Communist Party is presented as one of the top threats to the United States, along with Russia, Iran, Syria, and North Korea. To my knowledge, only China is receiving U.S. research dollars," said the senator during the hearing. "When will you as director of NIAID stop funding research in China?"
Since 2020, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded a total of $8.3 million in grants to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and its division National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention, along with five top public universities in mainland China and Hong Kong, according to the NIH website.
Although this amount doesn’t capture dollars later funneled to a Chinese institution through a U.S.-based organization, such as New York-based EcoHealth Alliance, which had partnered with the Wuhan Institute of Virology to perform coronavirus-related experiments that some experts said fit the definition of gain-of-function research, that is, experiments that increase the pathogenicity or transmissibility of a virus.
Fauci, in response to Marshall’s question, said that the U.S. federal agencies "had very productive peer-reviewed highly regarded research projects with our Chinese colleagues that have led to some major advances in biomedical research."
"So I don’t think I’d be able to tell you that we are going to stop funding Chinese," Fauci said.

[Sonar21] Today the Russians released a chart showing "known" foreign fighters/"mercenaries" enrolled on the Ukrainian side. Breakdown is by national origin and status (captured, eliminated and still fighting). Very speculative that this is 100% accurate - I doubt that even the Ukrainians have a complete roster of fighters given the confusion of the situation. That being said - the Russians felt confident enough in their figures to release them. The article also includes a snippet of Foreign Minister Lavrov commenting on them in an interview.

Is this game over for the Senate gun bill, which was already encountering "serious doubts"?
Maybe not. For one thing, US Senator John Cornyn must have known what was coming when he decided to show up to a Texas Republican event in the middle of a gun-control negotiation. In fact, he’s apparently used to being booed at the convention. If boos were likely to change his mind, he would have quit the negotiations yesterday and arrived today as the uncompromising hero of gun owners everywhere.
He tried to reason with the crowd, explaining what is and isn’t in the bill:

[ZERO] LinkedIn users are being lured into bogus cryptocurrency investments, with some being swindled out of sums exceeding $1 million, according to a new CNBC report.
"It’s a significant threat," FBI special agent Sean Ragan tells CNBC. "This type of fraudulent activity is significant, and there are many potential victims, and there are many past and current victims."
It starts with an invitation to connect to a phony account. Next, friendly conversation turns to a recommendation to buy Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency on a legitimate platform suggested by the fraudster. After several months of building trust, however, the victim is encouraged to move their assets to a platform controlled by the fraudster.
Florida benefits manager Mei Mei Soe started with a $400 speculation at crypto.com; later, she was lured to a fraudulent platform. With a goal of amassing enough money to open a business of her own, Soe engaged in a series of transactions using not only her own savings, but also proceeds from bank loans and even personal loans from friends.
Several months into her fake friendship, she realized what had happened. "I still remember the day," Soe says. "Once I realized I had been scammed, I tried to contact him but couldn’t find him anywhere...It hurts." The damage: $288,000, wiping out her life savings, not to mention the new debt she took on.
A support group of victims that meets regularly on Zoom invited CNBC's Yasmin Khorram to hear their stories. With their five identities shielded to protect themselves from professional and personal embarrassment, the victims acknowledged having lost $189,000, $300,000, $700,000, $1.3 million and $1.6 million.
On the eve of CNBC's report, LinkedIn posted a blog entry highlighting its efforts to combat fraud. The Sunnyvale, California firm says its artificial technology eliminates 99.1% of spam and scams before they reach any users. Separately, LinkedIn says it removed 32 million fake accounts in 2021 alone.

[AlAhram] Egyptian Coalition for Human Rights and Development (ECHRD) issued a report on Thursday detailing a threefold increase in Israeli hate speech and incitement against Paleostinians on social media in 2021 over 2020 and describing its long term harms.
This, as is usual from these groups, completely ignores Palestinian anti-Israel/Jew hate speech that’s been consistently official — from the Palestinian government, television, school lessons — since the 1930s, not to mention anti-Jew violence throughout the same period. But according to their protectors the suffering Arabs are compelled by their emotions in this, while the Jews are held to a higher standard.
In a report titled "Hate Speech and Apartheid in the Occupied Paleostinian Territories" issued Thursday, the ECHRD stated that hate speech against Paleostinians is rooted in racist Israeli educational curriculum and news media that is responsible for implanting hatred since childhood on.
The report also stated that the expansionist settlement policy has resulted in the Paleostinians being subjected to discriminatory apartheid laws favouring Jewish settlers.
"Most of those who live in the settlements are from Death Eater Jewish groups that advocate the Jewishness of the state and play a role in provoking and inflaming the feelings of Paleostinians with open hate speech and incitement to violence against them," according to the report.
The report also referred to the increasing international recognition of the state of affairs in the occupied territories, which invites parallels to other historical cases of apartheid.
"In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in condemnation (within the international political discourse) of the apartheid regime, which was associated with the settlement regime in South Africa and ended in 1994... As a result of the control tools used by Israel in the occupied territories of 1967, there has been a political and geographical reality based on ethnic and hierarchical segregation in parallel with the ongoing Judaisation," the report stated.
The report mentioned the corrosive long-term harm of such a project, saying "The government does not care about the dangerous political and moral effects of the settlements project, nor the systematic violations of human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. of the Paleostinians who have been under Israeli military rule for fifty years."
Moreover, the Israeli leadership is not interested in the presence of two judicial systems in the occupied territories, one for the Paleostinians and the other for Israelis. This trend has led to a flood of bills proposing direct or indirect annexation, culminating in the enactment of the 2016 settlements law.
The report concluded Israel cannot be considered a democratic country as it is enshrining racial segregation and discrimination in law. Instead, the government is consolidating a racist colonial legacy through ethnic cleansing and the deliberate denial of the rights of indigenous peoples on their historical land, including their their historical right to their land and property.

Whataboutism is a propaganda technique first used by the Soviet Union, in its dealings with the Western world.[1] When Cold War criticisms were levelled at the Soviet Union, the response would be "What about..." followed by the naming of an event in the Western world.[2][3] It represents a case of tu quoque (appeal to hypocrisy),[4] a logical fallacy that attempts to discredit the opponent's position by asserting the opponent's failure to act consistently in accordance with that position, without directly refuting or disproving the opponent's initial argument.

The report also stated that the expansionist settlement policy has resulted in the Paleostinians being subjected to discriminatory apartheid laws favouring Jewish settlers.
The UN came to the same conclusion.
The report concluded Israel cannot be considered a democratic country as it is enshrining racial segregation and discrimination in law.
Oh, it's democratic all right. The US used to have similar laws and we were a democracy. But we fought a civil war to get rid of them. What path will Israel take to get rid of its ugly racial laws?

[NYPOST] The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office cut a sweetheart deal with a career criminal that let him off with a slap on the wrist — leaving him free to slug a woman in a random attack last month, The Post has learned.
Marcus Wright, 37, was charged with grand larceny in April — but was allowed to plead down to misdemeanor petty larceny rap and walked out without any jail time, according to records and law enforcement sources.
Wright, who has 36 busts on his rap sheet, got away with a similar break in November — before Bragg took office in January — after a robbery at a Sephora near Union Square.
But in that case, he spent 60 days in jail after pleading guilty.
In the more recent case, a theft at a downtown boutique in April, Wright was allowed to walk free in a deal with prosecutors from District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office.
He was also busted in January on assault charges on Bragg’s watch, but the result of that case isn’t known as it was sealed.
Then last month, Wright allegedly walked up to a random woman in Chelsea, slugging her while she was on her mobile phone — and was again released without bail thanks to the state’s soft-on-crime laws.

[JustTheNews] Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman sent an email to all Redfin employees about the layoffs on June 14. He said the decreasing demand for homes has forced the company to release hundreds of employees...
The company expected that total revenue for the second quarter would be between "$613 million and $650 million, representing a year-over-year growth between 30% and 38% compared to the second quarter of 2021."
However, 40 days later Kelman says demand is over 15% below expectations, a sign that the housing market is going south at an unprecedented rate.
Kelman also cited the increasing mortgage rates for why the market is cooling.
Mortgage rates rose from 3.29% in January to 6.28% as of today, per Mortgage News Daily.

[NYPOST] SpaceX has reportedly fired the employees who released an open letter this week criticizing CEO Elon Musk and referring to his recent behavior as a "distraction and embarrassment" to the company.
SpaceX president and Musk ally Gwynne Shotwell said in a memo that the firm had "terminated a number of employees involved" in crafting the letter — noting the workers in question had "upset many" with an "unsolicited request" to add their signatures.
"The letter, solicitations and general process made employees feel uncomfortable, intimidated and bullied, and/or angry because the letter pressured them to sign onto something that did not reflect their views," Shotwell said in the memo, which was obtained by The Verge.

Ciudad Juárez has been off limits to active military personnel for decades with Fort Bliss just across the border. Wonder why?
Certain families park their loved ones in El Paso. There is reason crime is relatively low in El Paso. Crimes committed are sometimes handled by vendetta rather than the local police. Due process and punishment not necessarily in accordance with Hoyle.

[SAHARAREPORTERS] The Ukrainian military has released a video feed footage of another Russian ship coming under attack while transiting towards Snake Island.
The video which was released on Friday morning shows two missiles slamming into a vessel believed to be 19 miles east of Snake (or Zmiinyi) Island, causing it to erupt in a fireball.
The Ukrainian Navy in a statement on Twitter, claimed the vessel to be the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s Project 22870 rescue tug Vassily Bekh, described as carrying ammunition, weapons and personnel to reinforce Russian troops on the island—as well as a Tor air defence system.
Forbes reported that unconfirmed Russian sources apparently claimed that 10 of 33 crew on board were missing and the rest injured.
As with footage of several other vessels struck by Ukraine’s military, the attack is recorded by a video feed displaying the distinctive user interface of Ottoman Turkish-built Bayraktar TB2 drones operated by the Ukrainian Navy and Air Force.
But while Bayraktars have knocked out smaller Russian vessels with laser-guided anti-tank missiles, the video shows two missiles approaching perpendicular to the viewer at relatively slow speed and at low altitude—i.e. clearly, not launched by the overflying drone. Quite likely the drone was instead earlier used to transmit coordinates to land-based missile launchers to facilitate the attack.
Forbes also said that a Ukrainian regional official claimed the attack was made by land-based Harpoon anti-ship systems recently delivered to Ukraine by the United States and Denmark. That seems to correspond with the sea-skimming cruise missiles seen in the video.
Other sources allege, however, said the attack was by a Brimstone missile supplied by the U.K. These supersonic missiles are quite fast but have only a 14-pound warhead.

The Global Coalition forces declared on Thursday the identity of the leader of ISIS, who was arrested in an airdrop operation, at dawn today, in the countryside of the city of Jarablus, which is controlled by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... and its affiliated opposition SNA factions.
Coalition forces identified the senior ISIS leader detained during a June 16 counterterrorism operation in Aleppo, Syria, as Hani Ahmed al-Kurdi.
Al-Kurdi was also known as an "experienced bomb maker and operational controller" for Isis in Syria, according to the US-led coalition against the terror group.
Hani Ahmed al-Kurdi, known as Salim, was responsible for coordinating terrorist activities across the region. He was instructing others on making bombs, supporting the construction of improvised bomb facilities, and facilitating attacks on U.S. and partner forces.
The successful mission avoided any harm to civilians or civilian infrastructure and resulted in no damage to Coalition aircraft or assets.
Coalition forces will continue to work with our partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Iraqi Security Forces, including the Peshmerga, to hunt the remnants of ISIS wherever they hide to ensure their enduring defeat, the statement said.

[Garowe] Somalia's regional forces on Friday morning killed 16 al-Shabaab ...... the personification of Somali state failure... bandidosDeath Eaters in a foiled attack on Bahdo town in the central part of the country, officials said.
The military officials from Galmudug ...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth... State told Somali National Army (SNA) Radio that the regional forces backed by the local residents fought bravely and repulsed the attackers.
"The regional security forces of Somalia's Galmudug State and local residents have gallantly repulsed an attack by al-Shabaab on Bahdo town on Friday morning, killing 16 al-Shabaab terrorists," the SNA Radio reported.
The locals said the dead bodies of al-Shabaab bandidosDeath Eaters were scattered on the ground after the foiled attack.
Witnesses said al-Shabaab started their offensive by detonating multiple vehicle-borne improvised bombs targeting the village and security forces.
"But the troops later teamed up with local residents and local Sufi militia to put up a strong resistance and thwarted the attack," a local resident who declined to be named said on the phone.
The Somali government forces which have intensified security operations across the country since early this year have vowed to sustain the onslaught against the murderous Moslem group until their fighters are subdued.
However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... the al-Shabaab terror group which still controls some parts of rural southern and central Somalia continues to carry out high-profile attacks in Mogadishu and elsewhere across the country.

[BenarNews] The Philippine government has officially branded five suspected Moslemgunnies and six suspected members of the outlawed communist party as "terrorists," saying the move will allow authorities to freeze financial assets that could be used for funding attacks.
Among official resolutions made public on Wednesday and Thursday, the government’s Anti-Terrorism Council said it had added the names of five Abu Sayyaf ...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder... [HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Emirati company, Dixon Power has asked the citizens of Socotra Island, southern Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... , to pay their electricity bills in Emirati dirhams instead of in Yemeni currency.
A bill issued by the Emirates electricity company revealed that it demanded the Yemeni Electricity Corporation in Socotra to pay the consumption bill at a value of 501 dirhams, including 207 dirhams in previous arrears, warning it to cut off electricity from the corporation and impose a fine if they did not comply.
Through the so-called "Khalifa Foundation", the UAE has looted the generators of the Yemeni Electricity Corporation in Hadibo city, some of which were granted by the Sultanate of Oman, after its militias took control of the city in June 2019, and moved six other electric generators with cables feeding the generators from the old power station in Hadibo to the Dixam area.
The Emirati company, run by an Iraqi named Yasser al-Ani, imposed an amount of 100,000 Yemeni riyals as fees on the counters of shops and residential homes in 2020.
The company also replaced Yemeni meters with its own electronic ones, and imposed an amount of 225,000 Yemeni riyals per meter in August 2021 on the homes and shops of citizens.
The UAE ensured its military control over the Socotra archipelago, which is far removed from the military confrontations in mainland Yemen, in 2016, under the pretext of humanitarian actions by the Khalifa Foundation.

The report said the suspect was a Marxist who visited two French spies before the May 1 International Workers' Day, as part of a plot to "create unrest among workers."
It did not disclose the suspect's gender, but said the person was arrested by intelligence services while trying to leave the country through West Azerbaijan Province. TV also said the accused was tasked with rallying workers and teachers for street protests.
In May, Iran ...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence... confirmed it has detained two French citizens, Cecile Kohler, 37, and Chuck Gay Paree, 69, saying they met with protesting teachers, took part in an anti-government rally, and were organizing a protest to create unrest in Iran.

Teachers have held several strikes and protests in cities across Iran in recent weeks, walking out of their classrooms to press for better pay and working conditions.
[AlAhram] Russia on Friday said that close to 2,000 foreign mercenaries have been killed in Ukraine since the start of Moscow's military intervention in the pro-Western country.
Russia's defence ministry said in a statement that 6,956 "mercenaries and weapons specialists" from 64 countries had arrived in Ukraine since the start of the conflict and that "1,956 have already been destroyed".
Another 1,779 have left Ukraine, the statement said.
It said that Poland was the "absolute leader" among European countries for the number of fighters that were sent to Ukraine, followed by Romania and Britannia.
It also singled out "mercenaries" from Canada, the United States and the Caucasus nation of Georgia.
The ministry said the number of imported muscle is decreasing and many are leaving Ukraine "against the backdrop of the growing number of military failures of the Kyiv regime and massive daily losses in manpower and equipment".

[NPR] Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms will be joining the Biden administration, the White House announced Wednesday, after previously being considered to be President Biden's running mate in the 2020 presidential election. "Our Monkeypox Czar"
Bottoms will serve as the senior adviser for public engagement, "which works at the local, state, and national levels to ensure community leaders, diverse perspectives, and new voices have the opportunity to inform the work of the President in an inclusive, transparent and responsible way," the White House said.
Bottoms was considered for the role of vice president during Biden's 2020 presidential campaign, along with Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and others.
Bottoms, who was the mayor of Atlanta from 2018 to 2022, did not run for reelection and has been a political commentator for CNN.
"Mayor Bottoms understands that democracy is about making government work for working families, for the people who are the backbone of this country," Biden said. "She led the city of Atlanta with strength through the pandemic, through a summer of protests and pain, and through the mass shooting that left Atlanta's Asian American community in fear. Keisha is bright, honorable, tough and has the integrity required to represent our Administration to the American public."

I think Buttigieg was a better mayor than Bottoms was or maybe he just was in charge of a smaller dumpster fire. Anyway Bottoms is unlikely to make things better and is probably positioned to replace Harris. That would be an upgrade as she can probably utter a coherent statement and laugh at inappropriate stuff. They would have probably taken Abrams instead but she is busy, too smart for the offer or they couldn’t afford the snacks. Anyway Bottoms wasn’t doing anything constructive; she was on CNN.

^Under other circumstances our current White House spokeswoman would be "okay." Not great; but okay. But it would be hard for the greatest spokesman in history to cover for the contradictions inherent in this system as it stands right now.
[Garowe] In yet another breathtaking interview, a top al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... commander has insisted the group is still "very strong" and determined to "take over" the country from the current leadership, arguing that "they have failed to show direction" to the people.
For over a decade, the al-Qaeda group which controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia has been struggling with the fragile UN-backed Somalia administration, which has struggled to stamp authority in the Horn of Africa nation.
Mahad Karate, the deputy leader of al-Shabaab who also controls the group's Intelligence wing known as Amniyat, told Channel 4 News' Jamal Osman that "we are not yet done and cannot be intimidated". This was one of the open interviews by the commander in as many months.
Although it's not clear where their interview was conducted, the surrounding suggests that it could be on a riverside on the outskirts of Jilib town located in Middle Jubba. The town, believed to be impenetrable, has been the capital of the group for years.
The al-Shabaab commander dismissed Somalia's government as "weak and inconsequential" and vowed to mobilize "liberation " soldiers to topple it. He also warned the "foreign troops" against "killing" civilians in the struggling Horn of Africa nation.
When he took over last week as 10th president of the federal republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud insisted that "my first task is to work with stakeholders to defeat al-Shabaab". The new president accused the group of extorting local farmers, some of who have since moved to IDP camps.
The president's announcement came shortly after Pentagon confirmed the redeployment of troops to Somalia as part of President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences. So does Afghanistan, aka Biden's Bungle... 's counterterrorism approach. The US is expected to deploy close to 500 soldiers, over a year after the troops were repositioned by the Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... administration.
Pentagon said, "our sole aim in Somalia is to support Somali National Army and the African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Transition Mission by training and equipping them". The role of US soldiers in Somalia has often been questioned due to casualties emanating from their frequent Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s.
Fundamentally, the US Africa Command is critical in training and equipping the Danab Special Forces, a contingent within the Somali National Army. The Danab troops with aerial assistance from the US troops have been instrumental in downing al-Shabaab murderous Moslems
Mahad Karate, the senior financial coordinator, has been on US radar for years now, with US troops missing him through airstrikes just like current leader Ahmed Diriye. The US placed a $5 million bounty on his head but efforts to trace him have been futile for a while.
A report published by the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... revealed that the al-Shabaab operatives with a budget of almost $100 million annually, most extortion from local businesses and foreign donations. Of this sum, close to $24 million is set aside for purchasing sophisticated weapons.
The group has persistently targeted security forces, government officials, and civilians within Somalia and across the borders. Kenya, which is one of the African Union Transition Mission [ATMIS] troops contributing nations, is one of the most affected countries by al-Shabaab raids.
Last month, the turbans attacked El-Baraf Forward Operating Base which is manned by Burundian troops, killing over 30 soldiers. The US promised the new administration that it will closely work with native troops to ensure al-Shabaab is significantly degraded.
Then, they've got, what, Somalia? Nothing but a boat anchor around their necks. And Somalians like living under Sharia. Remember when we came to help them from starving to death and they thanked us by opening fire?
[BenarNews] Two wanted Abu Sayyaf ...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder... suspects accused of beheading foreign nationals surrendered to the military Friday in the southern Philippine province of Sulu, a move authorities are calling a serious blow to the murderous Moslem group.
Suspected Abu Sayyaf sub-leaders Almujer Yadah, (also called Mujer), 55, and Ben Quirino, (also called Ben Tatto), 41, walked into the army’s Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu headquarters in Jolo, Sulu’s capital town, surprising officials there.
They are considered among the "most notorious" of the group’s men, said the JTF commander in Sulu, Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio.
"They have many cases, with warrants of arrest, ranging from kidnapping for ransom and many others [against them]," Patrimonio said of the two murderous Moslems, who were known to operate from the jungles of Indanan and Patikul town in Sulu.
"They are involved in the abduction and beheading of foreign nationals."
The surrender of the two sub-leaders, which was facilitated by military and police units, has dealt "serious leadership and organization setbacks" to the Abu Sayyaf, said Lt. Col. Alaric delos Santos, JTF Sulu civil military operations officer.
The reason for the surrender? "Because they were always on the run, have no place to hide, [were] exhausted and often experienced starvation," he said.
"They also revealed that they no longer have the support of the community and were asked to stay away from the community," said delos Santos.
The suspects have seven standing arrest warrants against them, including for kidnapping with serious illegal detention, the complex crime of multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder, and violation of the Anti-Terrorism Act, Sulu provincial police director Col. Jaime Mojica told news hounds.
Yadah and Quirino were key participants in the kidnapping and beheading of German Jurgen Kantner, he said.
The Abu Sayyaf reportedly seized Kantner and his wife, Sabine Merz, while the couple was on their yacht in Sabah in November 2016. The yacht was later found in Sulu, with the body of Merz who was shot by the perpetrators. Kantner was brought to Indanan where he was beheaded by his captors after three months, Mojica said.
Mojica said the two were also involved in the kidnapping and beheading of Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall.
Ridsdel, Hall, Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad and Filipina Marites Flor were taken from a posh resort on Samal Island in Davao del Norte in September 2015. Ridsdel and Hall ended up being beheaded months later while Sekkingstad and Flor were released.
Mojica said Yadah and Quirino were also involved in the kidnapping of 21 mostly European victims at a diving resort in Sipadan, Malaysia, in 2000. They were also said to be involved in the beheading of captured soldiers.
Mojica said Yadah and Quirino were also tied to the twin bombings in Jolo in August 2020 that left 15 people dead, including soldiers, and scores others injured.
Delos Santos said Yadah and Quirino will have to face the charges against them.
"They will undergo the legal process of the law and will pay for the crime they have committed," he said.
He said the two will be immediately sent to police custody for the legal process as they faced serious criminal charges.

[NYPOST] Record-setting prices on diesel fuel, coupled with soaring inflation and the ongoing war in Ukraine, could lead to food shortages in the US, farmers warned.
"For so long, we’ve enjoyed lots of food in this country, so we’ve never ever faced a food shortage and I think that’s coming in the coming months," John Boyd Jr., president of the National Black Farmers Association, said during an interview on NewsNation’s On Balance with Leland Vittert on Monday,
Average diesel prices in the US Monday reached $5.7 per gallon, representing a $2.4 increase compared to the same period last year.
Farmers disproportionately rely on diesel to fuel up their tractors and other heavy machinery used to plant and harvest crops, burning up to thousands of gallons a month, depending on the size of their operation.
Feeling the pinch at the pump, farmers can decide to stop planting certain crops to save money on fuel, which, in turn, could result in higher food prices and even food shortages.

Despite many of us posting warnings starting a year ago to stock up, we were laughed and said to be in panic mode.
So, if anyone is just now figuring out, there is Food Shortage/Price to Fuel Cost to collation. You are screwed and are now buying food, if it is in stock, at 9% to 50+% higher since just Jan. 2022.
Simply by buying a little extra each week and checking BB dates, it has us covered out to sometime in early Q1-2025.
Plus, purchasing enough Ethonal-free Gas enough to refill the car 3x's and stabilizing it for long term storage (18 months) has us as covered for Evac if needed.

He's correct. This is the end of an era. American hegemony is finished - Trump was its last hurrah.
W, Obama and Biden conspired to bury American strength and leadership with their stupid overseas wars, their domestic culture wars and their incompetent, disastrous economic policies.

Note that there is no "shaking" of hands, no ranting, no vulgar expressions as per the bullshit, lies and disinformation printed recently in the US and UK press.
Wherever one stands and whatever one thinks of Putin, this is an extremely important speech that demands close attention and consideration.
It is not America's role to dominate the world, invading country after country as we have done so many times since the 1890s. Neither is it our role to be world police. Every empire that tried this went bankrupt from the expense. Let's try a revolutionary idea: spend our money on our people and make a nice country. It's a crazy idea but it might just work.

US being more like Switzerland. Not the biggest or toughest, but the freest and most financially stable
Switzerland's gun ownership is similar to America's -- but the Swiss murder rate is a tiny fraction of America's. Can you guess why?
Switzerland's technology and economy are similar to America's -- but average Swiss math achievement scores are higher. Swiss average savings are higher. Swiss cities are cleaner and safer. The Swiss enjoy greater freedom with more order. Why do you think that is?
Here's a thought. American achievement in every realm, from education to public safety to public finance to freedom and prosperity, is degraded by a violent, dysfunctional and mentally deficient sub-demographic that simply does not exist in Switzerland.
This dysfunctional minority is championed another, even smaller minority that is extremely successful and well-educated and that is obsessed with intervening abroad in defense of "freedom." This tendency does not exist in Switzerland.
Ergo there seems to be a strong connection between certain America's willingness to grovel before its own left-wing race Marxists and those same Americans' eager support for serial overseas military adventures in countries that have nothing to do with American freedom or security.
Aside from these two groups, America could probably be very much like Switzerland. A natural fortress provided by two oceans acting like the Alps, a well-armed freedom-loving yeoman population, longstanding self-government and strong traditions of federalism, self-reliance and individual rights.
But you have to somehow curb the influence of America's race Marxists and the elites who love them so.

'Race Marxism' is a "non causa." It is simply a tool or vehicle used to gain power. It has little if anything to do with the actual beliefs of those carrying the signs and banners.

/\ Precisely what happened not so many years ago in a place called Rhodesia. Those sent packing were a different race however. Colonialism and tribalism appear to be in eternal conflict.
(Tribalism is an original and more pure form of communism)
#16
I mean to say that, before the late 1940s civil rights push by northern whites and Jewish media and intellectual figures, there was very little public support for aggressive US military interventions outside of the Western Hemisphere. There's a strong connection between the racial "diversity" creed and US interventionism.
Most Americans have no interest in the Middle East or Asia and not much interest in Europe either. It was East Coast liberal elites like the New York Times editors who pushed Americans out of a natural Swiss-style isolationist mindset. They did so by pushing the new and very alien ideas about "democracy promotion."
After WWII, the old Protestant Progressive "civil religion" (per Walter McDougall) was pushed aside and replaced by Jews and liberal Catholics such as the Kennedys who added a new obsession with protecting racial minority rights and intervening in the Middle East to protect Israel. Neoconservatism had its origins in these two non-Protestant left-leaning urban groups. All the neoconservatives were either Jewish or Catholic.
Beginning in the early 1960s with Kennedy's inaugural speech, very foreign conflict became framed as a foreign version of the civil rights movement, struggle of "freedom" vs totalitarian oppression that would inevitably lead toward another Holocaust. Complexity was ignored. American national security was conflated with a global civil rights crusade. Somehow it became a vital interest for America to protect peasants in Indochina, Muslim tribesmen in Mesopotamia, Jews in Palestine.
If not for these influence of Catholics like the Kennedys and Jews like Max Fisher and powerful media and entertainment tycoons like the Sulzbergers, it's unlikely that the US would have been embroiled in Vietnam's civil war or the middle east's endless conflicts.
Switzerland doesn't have neoconservatives. It's totally alien to the Swiss mind.,

You should put away the liquor. We're talking about Switzerland, a diverse non-expansionist, totally defensive small country that easily combines multiple cultures and languages. You're confusing Switzerland with its northern neighbor. Maybe you should open a map?
Wrong again. Buchanan is very close to the Swiss mentality. Someone scrambled your playbook. Buchanan is the neoconservatives' worst enemy.
The Catholic neoconservatives included people like Jeanie Kirkpatrick, Daniel Moynihan and the pre-2004 William F Buckley.
During the Nixon administration, Moynihan's pro-Israel bent was so wildly exaggerated that Henry Kissinger had to shut him up during one White House Mideast policy meeting by saying, "This isn't a synagogue."
#23
@Besoeker
I don't follow you. Your Jewish "Misha" represents what...
neoconservatism? Which one are you saying represents 'beltway thinking' -- Moynihan?
Or do you mean Kissinger... he wasn't a neoconservative and never terribly friendly toward Israel.
#24
/\ Excellent question. Point is, traditional Jewish thinking and debate have become too far removed from their original geo-origins. Kissinger was correct, "it's not a synagogue"... therein lies the problem.
Synagogue = "closer to Heaven." Not a synagogue = "further from Heaven."
If your mileage varies, well, that's on you, not me...

I don't know much about the origins of Jewish thinking and debate but the ideas and instincts of America's founders and the following generation of American leaders were in synch with Swiss republican views. Federalism and self-government, limits on centralized authority, a fierce desire to be insulated from the rest of the world's warring and intrigues, and a rationalist outlook shaped by a Protestant work ethic.
That still describes Switzerland. In America that got chucked aside in the second half of the 20th century. Maybe America can recover it before the second half of the 21st century.

Old Wisdom has value, taken fro, American Thinker in part:
"In The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Edward Gibbon ruminated on the "latent causes of decay and corruption" in Rome. He noted the introduction by the ruling elites of "a slow and secret poison into the vitals of the empire." "The minds of men were gradually reduced," he wrote, and "the fire of genius was extinguished, and even the military spirit evaporated." The corrosive effects on the citizenry manifested themselves in the collapse of "public courage" and the diminished "love of independence" and "sense of national honor." "A cloud of critics, of compilers, of commentators," Gibbon lamented, "darkened the face of learning, and the decline of genius was soon followed by the corruption of taste." A "degeneracy" set in among the Roman elites and spread to the citizens, which "debased their sentiments, enervated their courage, and depressed their talents." The result, Gibbon wrote, was that Rome was "peopled by a race of pygmies" when the barbarians from the north swept in to conquer.
America's elite class is leading us down the path of Rome. Hopefully, it's not too late to change course.

Obama administration NSC official and leading Democratic Party foreign policy expert Charles Kupchan calls for negotiations to end the war in Ukraine today in Politico.com
Washington has not only a right to discuss war aims with Kyiv, but also an obligation. This conflict arguably represents the most dangerous geopolitical moment since the Cuban missile crisis.
A hot war is raging between a nuclear-armed Russia and a NATO-armed Ukraine, with NATO territory abutting the conflict zone. This war could define the strategic and economic contours of the 21st century, possibly opening an era of militarized rivalry between the world’s liberal democracies and an autocratic bloc anchored by Russia and China.
These stakes necessitate direct U.S. engagement in determining when and how this war ends. Instead of offering arms with no strings attached — effectively leaving strategy up to the Ukrainians — Washington needs to launch a forthright discussion about war termination with allies, with Kyiv, and ultimately, with Moscow.

[NYPOST] A Utah thief desperate to get ever-pricier gas was caught on camera drilling into a truck’s tank — then partially bursting into flames.
Shocking footage obtained by KSL TV first showed a white pickup pulling up next to a truck in the parking lot of — ironically — a fire protection company.
"The guy tried to siphon gas out of it and he wasn’t getting the siphon to work," fed-up Summit Fire and Protection branch manager Travis Mills told the outlet.
"So he decided to drill the gas tank ... and that’s when he caught on fire," he said of the Saturday morning blaze.
The dramatic footage showed the unidentified thief under the rear of the truck — then suddenly jumping up and running away with his T-shirt ablaze.
He then fell to the ground and rolled across the parking lot, before his accomplice in the pickup helped him to get back in.
It was not clear how injured the thief was, or if he was ever identified or found. However, there's more than one way to skin a cat... Mills stressed that the raider was lucky the truck was close to empty at the time.

Happening here too. It was back in the 70s 'oil crisis' that locking gas caps came into wide spread use.
Don't drill, use a slight filed 10p nail with tar on the tip and rubber hammer. No sparks.
Or,
a hose and a plastic bag or towel wrapped around the hose at the tank, to seal in the air that you blow into the hose, which then causes a reverse flow situation.
[FoxBusiness] "It's a race," Schork told "Varney & Co.," Thursday. "Do we get to $6 before we hit the severe economic downturn? Because we are going into recession if we're not already here."
The oil analyst’s comments come on the heels of the White House shifting blame for rising fuel prices from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Big Oil companies.
White House Secretary Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called on Big Oil companies to "do the right thing" during a Wednesday press conference. "operate at a loss and build refineries we'll force you to close after the election"

[Korrespondent] 23:29 Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Aleksey Danilov said in an interview with Radio NV that in Belarus today there is no such concentration of troops as on February 24: "We have information about what is happening today on the territory of Belarus. Today we do not see such threats, because there are not enough forces and means to make such an offensive, as was the case on February 24.
23:27 The head of the Kherson Regional Council Oleksandr Samoylenko, in an interview with Ukrinform, called on the residents of the Kherson region to leave the region, including through Crimea, which "will facilitate the work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" during the liberation of the territories. According to him, "the Armed Forces of Ukraine should have a springboard for activities."
Samoilenko recalled "what was the agony of the occupiers before leaving Bucha and Irpen, or how the Russians" liberated "Mariupol, completely destroying the city of 400,000." "For Kherson, this variant of liberation is unacceptable. And the President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Minister of Defense understand this - if the city is demolished, then why liberate it?" he noted.
Therefore, the head of the Kherson Regional Council called on "everyone who has such an opportunity" to leave the occupied territory. At the same time, he admitted that the only way for an organized exit from Kherson is through the occupied Crimea: “As for leaving through Crimea, I think: if a person saves his life and his family, then let him go. In my opinion, with moral point of view, we have no right to condemn them, just as I do not condemn a single person who remains and waits for liberation.
22:47 Scholz said in an interview with DPA that it is necessary to talk to Putin in the conditions of the war in Ukraine: “It is absolutely necessary to talk to Putin, and I will continue to do it, like the President of France... When I talk to Putin, I say, for example , the same things as you: please understand that there will be no dictated world. And if you think that you can steal the earth, and then hope that times will change and everything will be as it was, then you are mistaken. "
22:21 British Prime Minister Boris Johnson unexpectedly again arrived in Kiev - for the second time after the start of the war - and again without an announcement or warning. Read more about his visit in the material Johnson's Adventures in Kiev .
22:15 Lisichansk remains completely under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said the head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai. According to him, the infrastructure in the city has been destroyed, there is neither gas nor water. At the same time, it is not shelled as often as Severodonetsk, but the shelling is more powerful, the destruction is "catastrophic". There is an opportunity to leave the city, it is also possible to deliver humanitarian cargo.
22:13 Ukraine will receive from international partners underwater drones for demining water bodies, Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky said on the air of the telethon. He warned that most water bodies are dangerous today - we are talking about Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkov regions, as well as southern Ukraine.
"There will be a long demining process where hostilities took place. We need special equipment, equipment, which we have very little. Now we are talking about, for example, underwater mine-clearing drones. We turned to our international partners, colleagues from the European Union - they will help us help both with teams that will come from abroad, and directly with equipment for such demining," the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained.
22:03 During the full-scale war, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost from 30% to 40% of equipment, in some units up to 50%, Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Karpenko said in an interview with National Defense. He clarified that this is about 1300 infantry fighting vehicles, 400 tanks, 700 artillery systems. At the same time, according to him, international assistance covers only 10-15% of the needs of the Ukrainian army.
The general also believes that in order to fully cover the front line, where active battles are taking place, Ukraine needs to fully equip 40 brigades, for which a total of 4,000 infantry fighting vehicles, 1,200 tanks and almost 2,200 artillery systems are needed.
21:49 Zelensky said that he had spoken today with Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel, and a conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Rutte is also scheduled today. "In general, the week was most useful for Ukraine - in many directions. And today I want to thank US President Biden for the fact that American support for Ukraine is increasing weekly. And this week we have significant results on the front lines - precisely thanks to the support of the United States," he said. Zelensky in the evening video message.
21:35 Zelensky, in an evening video message, announced the release of Tyra, a Ukrainian medic and volunteer Yulia Paevskaya , who was captured by the Russians at the beginning of a full-scale invasion. According to the President, she is already at home. "We will continue to work to take away all our people," he stressed.
21:17 Merkel admitted that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was connected, among other things, with her resignation: "My resignation could play a role in this, as well as the elections in France, and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, as well as the failure to implement the Minsk agreements ".

[AlAhram] Rich countries including the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... and the United States have pushed back against efforts to put financial help for poor nations suffering the devastating effects of global warming firmly on the agenda for this year's U.N. climate summit. "Give us money!"
Observers and campaigners attending a ten-day preparatory meeting in Bonn, Germany, that's wrapping up Thursday expressed frustration at the resistance shown by developed nations to formally discussing how poor countries can get more aid when they're hit by climate disasters.
"Rich countries, particularly the EU, spiked the discussion about loss and damage at every single turn," said Teresa Anderson of the campaign group ActionAid International.
Delegates from developing countries had hoped growing awareness of the severe economic cost that global warming is already having for billions of people around the world would help move the needle on an issue that has long split rich and poor nations.
Those hopes were fueled last month, when officials from the Group of Seven leading economies for the first time acknowledged the need for more public and private money to avert and address the "adverse impacts of climate change.''
The meeting in Bonn, which is home to the U.N. climate office, was designed to lay the foundations for the upcoming climate summit in Egypt's seaside resort of Sharm-el-Sheikh in November.
"Whether it was about setting up a new finance facility, providing funds, organizing technical support, or even just including the issue on the agenda for discussion at COP27 later this year, rich countries continued to block, block, block,'' said Anderson.
Noting the drought-induced famine currently threatening millions in the Horn of Africa, she accused rich countries of a "terrifying disconnect'' to the real world.
Her comments echoed those of U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres ...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years... , who this week accused many governments of "dragging their feet" on climate action.
Seasoned watchers of international climate meetings had cautioned against expecting delegates in Bonn to make any big progress on long-standing points of disagreement, particularly those that would entail big financial commitments.
"Many of the issues are above their pay grade," said Alden Meyer of E3G, an environmental think tank.
Still, the outcome was slimmer than expected, he said.
The issue of ramping up climate aid is likely to come up Friday at a virtual meeting of major economies hosted by U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier. Of course Corn Pop is a real person.... , and at the G-7 leaders summit in Germany on June 26-28.
The head of the U.N. climate office, Patricia Espinosa, had urged delegates at the start of the meeting in Bonn not to give in to despair, noting the progress made in recent years in tackling global warming.
Participants drew some cheer from an announcement Thursday by Australia's new government, which formally pledged to raise its target for cutting greenhouse gas reduction to 43% by the end of the decade compared with 2005 levels. The previous government's goal had been to cut emissions by just 26% to 28% in 2030, far below the targets set by other big polluters.
[BenarNews] The ARSA rebel leader ordered the killing of Rohingya activist Muhib Ullah at a Bangladeshi refugee camp last year, police in the South Asian country said in recommending murder charges against 29 suspects, although the Death Eater group denied being involved.
Muhib Ullah was more popular than Ataullah Abu Ahmmar Jununi,
...born in Karachi, reared in Mecca, where he was imam to his fellow Rohingya expats until inspired to return to the home he never knew to lead what he claims is a non-jihadi nationalist revolt against the Burmese government. Burma claims he was trained in guerrilla warfare by the Taliban in Pakistan in 2012...
the head of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army,
...the main Rohingya krazed killer group operating in Myanmar's troubled Rakhine state that borders Bangladesh's southeast, and also in the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazaar, though Bangladesh adamantly refuses to accept the idea that it’s there. It was ARSA’s attack on several police posts in Rakhine in 2017 that caused the Burmese Myanmar army to crack down, driving three quarters of a million Moslem Rohingya back to Bangladesh, from whence they had illegally migrated a century or two earlier...
and that displeased the ARSA chief, according to an investigation report that police submitted to a court in Cox’s Bazar district on Monday.

[AlAhram] French leftist politician Jean-Luc Melenchon promised Friday to grant French nationality to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange ... Australian journalist who founded WikiLeaks in 2006. WikiLeaks made the Big Time in 2010 when it published a series of leaks provided by then Bradley, since Chelsea Manning. After the 2010 leaks, the United States government launched a criminal investigation into WikiLeaks and asked allied nations for assistance. U.S. officials are seeking to prosecute Assange under the Espionage Act, blaming him for directingpublication of a huge trove of secret documents that disclosed the names of people who provided confidential information to American and coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.... if left-wing parties win a majority in parliamentary elections this weekend.
Assange is wanted in the US for allegedly violating the Espionage Act by publishing military and diplomatic files in 2010, and could face up to 175 years in jail if found guilty, though the exact sentence is difficult to estimate.
Ahead of voting on Sunday, Melenchon was asked about the extradition of Assange to the United States, which the British government approved on Friday to the dismay of his supporters and free-press campaigners.
"If I am prime minister on Monday, Mr Julien Assange -- I believe he has already asked for it -- will be naturalised as French and we will ask for him to be sent to us," Melenchon told news hounds.
"Mr Assange should be decorated for all his services to French people," he added.
Melenchon's new NUPES coalition of left-wing and green parties is hoping for a majority after Sunday's vote, which could lead to 70-year-old Melenchon being named prime minister.
But polls suggest centrist President Emmanuel Macron's "Together" coalition is likely to emerge as the biggest party.
The French parliament debated a motion in February proposing granting Assange political asylum, which was defeated after failing to win enough support from Macron's MPs.
The WikiLeaks founder has influential contacts inside the current French government, however, with his former lawyer Eric Dupond-Moretti now serving as justice minister.
Dupond-Moretti had requested a meeting with Macron in 2020 in order to ask for political asylum for his client, and has faced calls from French rights groups to make good on his promise now that he is inside the cabinet.
Assange has 14 days to appeal the UK government decision, which came after a British court issued a formal order clearing his removal in April.
His supporters have held frequent rallies to protest the planned deportation, which they see as an infringement on media freedom and free speech.
He has been detained at a top-security jail in southeast London since 2019 for jumping bail in a previous case accusing him of sexual assault in Sweden.
In February 2020, Dupond-Moretti, one of La Belle France's best-known lawyers before he entered politics, called the possible 175-year prison sentence "shameful, unbearable and contrary to the idea everyone has of human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. ."

I can tell you all about motoring in California in one short paragraph:
You're running late. You're stuck in traffic. You're low on gas. You gotta pee...real bad. And when you finally get there you can't find a place to park.

[NYPOST] The South Carolina Supreme Court ...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations... wants to revoke the law license of attorney Alex Murdaugh, saying there is overwhelming evidence he stole millions of dollars from his clients even though more than 70 criminal charges against the prominent lawyer have not been resolved.
Also still unresolved are the shooting deaths of Murdaugh’s wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, more than a year ago. No one has been charged in their deaths, which have led to at least a half-dozen investigations into Murdaugh, his family and his finances that resulted in indictments that Murdaugh stole $8.5 million from people who hired him.
Murdaugh losing his law license permanently would be a sharp blow to a family that has dominated the legal scene in tiny Hampton County for nearly a century. Murdaugh’s father, grandfather and great-grandfather were the elected prosecutors for 87 years straight.
Alex Murdaugh once worked for the family-founded law firm, which boasted of more than a dozen verdicts in civil cases of over $1 million. The firm said in September that Murdaugh was stealing money.
In its order Thursday, the state Supreme Court also cited charges against Murdaugh for filing a false police report and fraud when he claimed someone shot at him as he changed a tire on the side of a remote two-lane Hampton County road.

I see, before the family and his own shooting, reports emerged that Murdaugh was pushed out of his law firm over "millions in missing funds."
On September 16, 2021, according to court Doc's he was arrested in connection to an insurance fraud scheme that court documents say involved him arranging for his own killing so his surviving son could collect the life insurance payout.
So he now is facing charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and filing a false police report, according to a statement from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. (SCLED)
Most notability, he has a Mental Illness of donating to Democrats, including Joe B.
[AsiaMarkets] In recent years it has become clear the Chinese people are losing faith in their financial institutions. There’s been anger over harsh COVID lockdowns in Shanghai recently, while the collapse of China Evergrande saw rare public demonstrations as residents faced the prospect of losing their life savings used as deposits for housing.
The song book is eerily similar at bank branches in a number of China’s rural provinces right now.
Multiple sources contacted by Asia Markets, have confirmed deposits at the following six banks have been frozen since mid-April.
Yuzhou Xinminsheng Village Bank (located in Xuchang City, Henan Province)
Zhecheng Huanghuai Bank (City of Shangqui, Henan Province)
Shangcai Huimin Rural Bank (Zhumadian City, Henan Province)
New Oriental Village Bank (City of Kaifeng, Henan Province)
Huaihe River Village Bank (Bengbu City, Anhui Province)
Yixian County Village Bank (Huangshan City, Anhui Province)
It’s understood the banks with branches across the Henan and Anhui Provinces successively issued announcements in April, stating they would suspend online banking and mobile banking services due to a system upgrade
At the same time, clients reported their electronic deposits in online accounts, mobile apps and third-party platforms could not be withdrawn.
This led to depositors rushing to local bank branches, only to be told they were unable to withdraw funds.
By late May, images emerged on Chinese social media of demonstrations at the front of numerous bank branches. Asia Markets has verified these images with local contacts.
According to one user on the Chinese social media platform WeChat, the protests are ongoing but are rarely mentioned in Chinese press.
"It has caused widespread concern on the internet but the media attention is not high, the highest degree of concern is the four banks in Henan."
BANK RUN CONTAGION TO "SWEEP ACROSS CHINA"
Regardless of the cause, the developments raise serious questions about the health of China’s and its regulatory oversight. The more immediate concern, however, is the prospect of contagion, which could see the (so-far) rural-only bank run spread to bigger cities.
On Twitter, a video of a large line at an ICBC Bank in China (one of China’s largest state-owned banks) posted on Tuesday, June 9, suggest contagion is in progress.
Translated to English, the tweet reads "The bank card system is locked, and these people are here to unlock it. Massive runs are coming."
Blogger, Jennifer Zeng, has reported major issues with withdrawing cash from banks in Shanghai in recent days. The uncertainty no doubt exacerbated by the prospect of more lockdowns as COVID cases again spike.
"All banks in Shanghai have restricted depositors from withdrawing money... A bank run is about to sweep China," she said.
