#2  150,000. Most forcibly taken from their homes to wipe out native culture by force assimilating them into western society.

Unfortunately, this isn't unique to Canada. Happened all up and down North and South America from 1600-1970.

#3  ^So (approx) 1/150. OK, maybe the institutions in question were badly run (though I'd assume priests & nuns did the best with that they were given) - but that's hardly a deliberate genocide.

In fact, even today: Children in foster care 42% more likely to die than children in general population

Los Angeles explosion: 17 injured after bomb truck carrying illegal fireworks explodes
[FoxNews] An explosion rocked Los Angeles on Wednesday, injuring at least 17 people -- including nine LAPD officers -- after a bomb squad attempted to detonate improvised explosive devices that were seized at a home along with a cache of illegal fireworks.

In a news conference late Wednesday, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore said authorities responded to the home, where they found thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks, as well as improvised explosive devices, described as "more unstable." A suspect was arrested in connection to the items seized at the home, police said.

The LAPD bomb squad transferred the improvised devices into a containment vehicle, and detonated them, believing it would contain the blast, which overturned a car and shattered windows in the neighborhood, Moore said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Earlier, the LAPD tweeted that bomb squad officers were in the process of seizing over 5,000 pounds of illegal fireworks in the area at the time of the blast. "Some of the fireworks were being stored in our Bomb Squad trailer as a precautionary measure," the LAPD wrote.

Of the 17 people injured, 16 were taken to the hospital – with one declining transport, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The LAFD wrote that nine LAPD officers and one Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agent sustained minor injuries. At least seven people were also hurt, including three who had moderate injuries.

The department added that several homes and a building were impacted by the blast.

FOX 11 of Los Angeles reported that investigators and bomb squad officials responded to the home earlier in the day after receiving a tip from a community member. A forklift was seen carrying dozens of boxes out of the house, images showed.

The suspect, identified as Arturo Cejas III, was arrested on suspicion of possessing fireworks and destructive devices, as well as suspicion of child endangerment – because two children were found at the home, police said, according to Los Angeles's KABC-TV.

#5  From Skidmark’s Daily Mail article:

LAPD Chief Michel Moore said three box trucks and a 53-foot trailer were brought in to load up the fireworks and move them to a safe location. However, 'improvised explosives' also were found that were too dangerous to move.

He described them as 40 home-made devices the size of Coca-Cola cans with simple fuses and 200 smaller but similar devices.

Arturo Cejas III, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possessing fireworks and destructive devices and also on suspicion of child endangerment because a minor, Cejas' 10-year-old brother, was found at the home.

Cejas is accused of bringing the fireworks in from out of state to resell ahead of celebrations for July 4th. He is being held on $500,000 bail.

Some of the fireworks appeared to be large mortar-sized devices used for commercial purposes while others were described as improvised explosive devices.

#1  Affirmative Action has been in practice in the US for 50 years. Initially it was pretty useful, e.g., putting out flyers in black neighborhoods to inform people of municipal sponsored summer jobs.

Olympics To Kick Off With Ceremonial Lighting Of The American Flag
[Babylon Bee] TOKYO—The 2020 Olympic Games will be kicking off next month with the ceremonial lighting of the American flag, a beloved pastime where American athletes who were given every opportunity to succeed get to show how much they hate America.

"Before the Games, American athletes will get to show much they hate their country by taking the ceremonial torch and burning the flag," said one commentator on ESPN. "We always feel the importance and gravity of this moment at every Olympic Games. As the torchbearer approaches the flag and lights it up, solemnly declaring to everyone that the U.S. is a horribly racist and oppressive country, I can't help but shed a few tears."

"Stunning and, you guessed it, brave."

One Chinese gymnast suggested she would burn her own country's flag as well, since the government kidnapped her family and forced her to compete at gunpoint, but she has since disappeared.

And You Laughed at MTG and Her "Jewish Space Laser"
[Frontpage via Lucianne] Israel has once again reminded us that we should thank our lucky stars that the Jewish state is on our side. In the "What Have You Done For Us Lately" Department, Israel has just completed tests of its new high-power laser system that, installed on a civilian aircraft, can shoot down drones. It promises to be what is called a game-changer.

#1  US has a similar system. The US system reportedly uses radio wave frequencies to disable the drones.

I'm sure both the US and Israel are working toward being able to knock out missiles in the boost phase as a next step (or next then next step).

I've always thought that, at least the targeting part of this would be facilitated by the hot signature of the missile but of course the missile is moving faster than a drone and is more heavily armored so this might be much more difficult than the drone killer.

Iran conditions return to nuclear deal on US commitment to never withdraw again
[IsraelTimes] Iran’s envoy to the United Nations told the Security Council Wednesday that an essential condition for reviving the 2015 nuclear deal is a commitment by the US that it will never again unilaterally pull out of the agreement.

Ambassador Majid Takht Ravanchi said such assurances were needed to build confidence in US and European adherence to the deal, known formally as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and enable the economic benefits that the deal is supposed to bring to his country.

How these Pak linked Lashkar operatives from Hyderabad packaged a parcel bomb for Darbhanga blast
[OneIndia] The National Investigation Agency has arrested 2 Lashkar-e-Tayiba gunnies in connection with the Darbhanga, Bihar railway station blast case. The arrested persons are Imran Malik and Mohammad Nasir Khan, both residents of Nampally in Hyderabad. They originally hail from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, the UP police had arrested a father son duo-Mohammad Haji Salim and his son Mohammad Kafil from Kairana, UP in connection with the same case.

The case was first registered in June 2021 following a kaboom on Platform 1 of the Darbhanga Railway Station. The parcel in which the explosive was placed was booked at Secunderabad and arrived by train. The NIA later took over the probe.

The accused persons were arrested from Hyderabad on June 30 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that this strike was part of a trans-national conspiracy hatched by the Lashkar-e-Tayiba to execute terror acts across the country and cause large scale damage to life and property.

Nasir and Khan had acted on the instructions of their handlers in Pakistain. The two accused who are brothers fabricated an incendiary IED and packed it in a parcel of cloth and booked the same in a long distance train from Secunderabad to Darbhanga.

The NIA learnt that the aim of the accused was to cause a kaboom in the train, which in turn would have led to a fire breaking out resulting in loss of lives and property. It was found that Khan had visited Pakistain in the year 2012 and had received training from his handlers in the fabrication of IED from locally available channels. He along with his brother Imran was in touch with Pakistain based handlers of LeT over encrypted communication platforms, the NIA said.

While credible information about the connection of the accused persons has been found with the ISI, the probe also found that these persons had taken instructions from their handlers-Iqbal Khana and Asif Khana of Pakistain. Both brothers and Khana are natives of Kairana in Uttar Pradesh. Khana had taken shelter in Pakistain and is one of the most wanted terrorists.

Nasir, the investigation found had visited Pakistain three on the pretext of meeting his blood relatives. In Pakistain he was radicalised by Khana.

Drones spotted again in J&K: 4th time since Sunday
[OneIndia] For the fourth day in a row drones have been spotted near military areas in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....

Early today, security personnel spotted two drones in Kaluchak and Kunjwani. A flying object was seen hovering over Kaluchak at 4.40 am and another was spotted at 4.52 AM near the Air Force Station signal in the Kunjwani area of Jammu.

On Sunday, in a first of its kind terror strike in the country, two drones were used to drop explosives at an Indian Air Force Base in Jammu. Two explosives were dropped, but they missed their targets.

On Tuesday a drone was spotted at three different locations including the Sunjwan military camp. On Monday two drones were spotted on the Jammu-Pathankot national highway. They were flying near the Kaluchek military staton. Both the drones flew away and a major threat was averted due to alert security officials.

The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday took over the probe into the drone attack at the IAF base. The probe into the drone attack at the IAF base in Jammu was handed over to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The decision to hand over the probe was taken keeping in mind the international ramifications.

The preliminary probe into the Indian Air Force base attack has revealed that it was the handiwork of the Pakistain backed terror group, Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

Some other bases far inland are wondering if they should blow a hole in their own leaky roofs. ☺

Some 'terror attack'.

ISIS militants killed in Puntland, Somalia after targeting security forces
[Garowe] Operations against the much degraded IS-Somalia Lions of Islam continued in Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
on Tuesday, with security forces killing fighters belonging to the group, which is confined to the Bari region in the mountains of Golis, northern Somalia.

IS-Somalia Lions of Islam have been trying to launch a series of attacks in the country, specifically in Puntland but their operations are limited given persistent operations by Puntland Security Forces [PSF], who have often repulsed their attacks in the country.

In a tweet, PSF confirmed that the Lions of Islam targeted their convoy in Hamure and Balidhidin villages, leaving one soldier critically injured. The troops were conducting operations within the villages in pursuit of the holy warriors.

And in a quick response, the troops with the help of other security forces in Puntland embarked on a mission of tracing the holy warriors, killing them in the process. The Lions of Islam often carry small to large-scale sporadic attacks mainly targeting security forces in Puntland.

One of those killed was a bomb maker and another one had a camera with him. One of the videos in the camera had the scene where a kaboom had targeted security forces and the Lions of Islam also had explosives in their possession which were confiscated during the operation.

"Two explosions today targeted a convoy of PSF vehicles near Hamure village in Balidhidin, Bari region, injuring one soldier. After quick response by the PSF, with the support of other PL security agencies, ISIS fighters responsible were traced and killed in action," read the statement.

"One of the ISIS fighters was a bomb maker and the other had a camera, meant to produce propaganda videos. One of the videos in their possession was that of the earth-shattering kaboom from earlier in the day. Other equipments and kabooms were also recovered at the scene."

Puntland Security Forces have been intensifying war against Lions of Islam in recent months, targeting both the IS-Somalia and al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
holy warriors, whose presence in the region is minimal. But particularly, it's the IS-Somalia team that has suffered immense losses.

Not long ago, the security forces have killed imported muscle with IS-Somalia in the Golis mountains. The US military only carried an operation once in the state, but largely, the PSF has taken charge of most areas, flushing out the Lions of Islam from their hideouts.

Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has often announced his commitment to the fight against both al-Shabaab and IS-Somalia holy warriors. A number of security forces have been trained and equipped in handling terrorism, thus the minimal cases of Lions of Islam operations.

7 migrants drown off Italy, hundreds hunger strike in Brussels
Seven migrants drown as boat capsizes off Italy's Lampedusa

[AlAhram] At least seven migrants colonists, one of them pregnant, drowned after a boat carrying them capsized five miles off the Italian island of Lampedusa early on Wednesday, officials said.

About 10 other people were missing, Luigi Patronaggio, the chief prosecutor of a team leading investigations into the deaths, told Rooters.

The migrants colonists are believed to have started their journey in Tunisia, said Patronaggio, who is working with magistrates based in the Sicilian city of Agrigento.

"This latest tragedy in the Mediterranean is heartbreaking, I wonder what else has to happen to make Italia and Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
understand that we cannot go on like this," Lampedusa's mayor, Toto Martello, said.

Coastguard units managed to rescue about 46 other migrants colonists from the 8 metre-long boat after it overturned, and bring them back to Lampedusa, officials said.

More than 250 more migrants colonists landed on the tiny island overnight on four other ships, local media reported.

Arrivals in Italia - one of the main migrant routes into Europe had been falling in recent years, but numbers picked up again in 2021. Almost 19,800 migrants colonists have arrived since the beginning of the year ,many of them fleeing conflict and poverty in Africa and the Middle East against just over 6,700 in the same period last year, Interior Ministry figures show.

Migrants hunger strike puts pressure on Belgian government

[AlAhram] A hunger strike by hundreds of migrants colonists living in Belgium without legal permission is putting increasing pressure on a government coalition weighing the wellbeing of those involved against the need to stick to immigration and asylum rules.

The hunger strike started over a month ago in two universities and a Brussels church, by migrants colonists desperate to obtain legal residency papers to continue and improve their lives in a nation where some say they have been working and living for a decade.

To highlight their desperation, some hunger strikers stitched their lips together this week, and are only accepting small amounts of liquids through a straw. Estimates of the number participating range as high as 400 but Migration and Asylum State Secretary Sammy Mahdi has used a figure of about 200.

Mahdi has insisted he is seeking to quicken up and improve the whole application system for people seeking to stay in Belgium but refuses to budge when facing demands by the hunger strikers for their cases to be handled now.

``They say that there are 150,000 living here illegally, and the 200 people that decide to stop eating should be regularized individually? What would be the result? A week later you get 200, 2,000, 20,000 people who would do exactly the same.''

``That's not the way to go about it,'' he told VRT network.

International-UN-NGOs
Cross-Border Aid to Syria Will End, Says Russian Ambassador to U.N.
[AnNahar] U.N. authorization of cross-border humanitarian aid to Syria without Damascus's agreement will stop, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
said Wednesday, without giving a timeframe.

"It is now a day-to-day operation and eventually it will be closed," Vassily Nebenzia told news hounds when asked if a consensus could be found in the Security Council to extend the agreement that expires on July 10.

Asked if Russia deemed it unnecessary to re-authorize the only access -- at Bab al-Hawa on the border between Syria and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
-- he said: "I will not give you any definitive answer at this time. We are continuing consulting."

Nebenzia said aid from Damascus should increase as the crossings were reduced last year from four to one.

He added that a humanitarian convoy bound for the opposition-held Idlib enclave had been authorized in April 2020 by Damascus but never reached its destination due to obstruction by those who control the region.

UN sources confirmed the information to AFP.

The Bab al-Hawa crossing will require a UN vote to stay open, but Russia, which is allied with Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Terror of Aleppo ...
, may use its veto power to block it.

Ireland and Norway, non-permanent members of the Security Council, presented a draft resolution Friday that seeks to keep the crossing open for one year and to reopen a second crossing point, al-Yarubiyah, which allows supplies to reach Syria's northeast from Iraq.

Humanitarian organizations have been pleading for months for an extension of the U.N. authorization.

"In such a politicized environment, as currently experienced in Syria, the humanitarian community should be given the space, the necessary access and the means to build sustainable and continuous supply chains," Laetitia Courtois, of the International Committee of the Red Thingy, told AFP.

2 Pakistani troops killed in attack on post near Afghanistan
[AlAhram] North Wazoo served as the headquarters of the Pak Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
until the military secured it in 2015 with a series of operations

Militants in Afghanistan fired across the border at a Mighty Pak Army post in a former local Taliban stronghold, killing two soldiers, the Pak military said Wednesday.

The cross-border firefight took place in the district of North Waziristan in the country's northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement. It did not say when the attack occurred, but said Pak troops responded to the fire appropriately, without elaborating.

It was unclear whether there were any Death Eater casualties. The military condemned the continued ``use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities against`` Pak troops, saying Pakistain had consistently asked Kabul to ensure effective border control on its side.

North Waziristan served as the headquarters of the Pak Taliban until the military secured it in 2015 with a series of operations. However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
isolated Death Eater attacks on troops and such cross-border violence have continued, raising fears the Pak Taliban were regrouping in the region bordering Afghanistan.

The Pak Taliban, also known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain, are a separate turban group from the Afghan Taliban, although Pakistain's Death Eater groups are often interlinked with those across the border.

Seven killed in Central Africa rebel attack: UN
Iran has provided funds and Al Quds and Hezbollah trainers to help rebel ex-Seleka members become an effective jihadi force, an effort that involved 30-40 cadres travelling to Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria in 2017 and 2018 for training, with the goal of a fighting group of 300-400 members under the name Saraya Zahraa or Saraya Zahara. A group by that name was reported fighting alongside local groups in Chad, Sudan, and Eritrea — whether this particular splinter of the Seleka is also an iranian catspaw I don’t know.
[AlAhram] The peacekeepers forced back the rebels, who fell back three kilometres (two miles) from the two, Fall added

Rebels killed seven people in coordinated attacks on army positions in the east of the Central African Republic, the UN peacekeeping force in the conflict-ridden country said Wednesday.

The fighters of the Unity for Peace in Central Africa (UPC) rebel group
...one of the Ex-Séléka factions, most of whom just happen to be Muslim...
mounted simultaneous attacks on army "checkpoints and camps" in the eastern city of Alindao, MUNISCA front man Abdoulaziz Fall told AFP, adding that the "festivities left seven dead".

The peacekeepers forced back the rebels, who fell back three kilometres (two miles) from the two, Fall added.

"Currently the Central African armed forces are in place in the city with us," he said. Around 60 Nepalese peacekeepers had been sent to the city as reinforcements, he added.

The UPC is one of the largest and best equipped rebel groups operating in the country, its members controlling many operating mines. It mainly operates in the east of the country.

Iraq
Iraqi officials: Explosion at busy Baghdad market wounds 9
[AlAhram] An explosion struck a busy market in Baghdad on Wednesday, wounding at least nine people, Iraqi security officials said.
The Iraqi military confirmed the blast without providing details.

The explosion was heard in a market in Sadr City, a suburb in the eastern part of the capital. The military did not elaborate on casualties or the extent of the damage.

Two security officials said at least nine people were maimed in the blast. They spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

It was the second time this year that a kaboom hit a market in the densely populated neighborhood. In April, at least four people were killed in a car kaboom in Sadr City. That blast was caused by an bomb attached to a parked car at the market.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused Wednesday's explosion. Large kabooms, once an almost daily occurrence in Baghdad, have slowed in recent years since the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group was defeated in 2017.

But attacks persist. In January, over 30 people were killed in a twin suicide kaboom in a busy commercial area in central Baghdad. It was the most deadly bombing in three years to strike Iraq's capital.

Roadside bombs and roadside kabooms continue to target primarily Iraqi security forces outside the capital, especially across northern Iraq where IS holy warriors are known to have hideouts.

Congress critter Ilhan Omar Says She's Suffered More Than Descendants of Holocaust Survivors
[PJ] On Tuesday, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) not only said she did not regret comparing the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban, but she also attacked her Jewish fellow Democrats, saying that they have failed to be her "partners in justice." She claimed to have suffered more than descendants of Holocaust survivors, and the spokesman for a group of over 1,500 Orthodox Jewish rabbis exposed her hypocrisy.

Early this month, Omar declared, "We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban." After facing backlash from Jewish Democrats and Democratic leadership (including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi), she aimed to "clarify" her remarks.

"To be clear: the conversation was about accountability for specific incidents regarding those ICC (International Criminal Court) cases, not a moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the U.S. and Israel. I was in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems," she said.

Twelve Jewish Democrats in Congress had urged Omar to clarify her remarks. "Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided," the Democrats wrote. "Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one’s intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice."

There's Something Odd About the NSA's Response to Tucker Carlson's Spying Allegations?
[Townhall] He dropped the allegation last night. Fox News’s Tucker Carlson says a whistleblower came forward to allege that he and some of his staff are being spied on by the National Security Agency. They’re monitoring their communications to find something, anything, to remove his show from the air. Now, there is no solid evidence to back this up, but there is history. The FBI did spy on the Trump campaign in 2016. The FBI did falsify documents to obtain spy warrants on Americans. There has been unmasking of Trump officials on NSA intelligence reports. They’ve done this before and now it seems they’ve restarted their dirty tricks campaign. What’s worse is that no one is really denying it.

Their "target" are his sources.

Carlson very likely has well placed US Government sources. Take away or neutralize his sources and he soon becomes redundant.

Billionaire GOP Mega-Donor Funds National Guard Mission to US-Mexico Border
[Mil.com] The South Dakota National Guard is deploying on mission to the U.S. southern border. And the operation is being funded by a billionaire, not the government, Military.com has learned.

Soldiers will serve on state active-duty orders, meaning that traditionally the state would cover the cost of the mission. However, in this case the tab is being picked up by the private Tennessee-based Willis and Reba Johnson's Foundation.

"The border is a national security crisis that requires the kind of sustained response only the National Guard can provide," South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican, said in a statement Tuesday.

Roughly 50 guardsmen will deploy on the mission, according to a South Dakota Guard spokesman. However, the mission is still in its early planning stages. It’s unclear where the troops will deploy on the border, which unit will be sent or what the mission will be.

The National Guard declined to comment for this story or answer questions about the practice of allowing private donors to fund missions. A query to the Pentagon about the mission did not receive a response.

Willis Johnson is the founder of Copart, an online vehicle auction service, and has amassed a $2.2 billion fortune, according to Forbes. He resigned as CEO of Copart in 2010, according to reporting from the Nashville Post.

He is a Republican mega-donor, donating at least $1.5 million to conservative causes, including $50,000 to the "Trump Victory" political action committee, according to reporting from Bloomberg.

The incredible shrinking Kamala Harris
[American Thinker] Kamala Harris is creating a problem. That comes as a surprise. I figured she'd be president by now. The cognitive decline of the Elected Official Formerly Known as Joe Biden is plain to see. The old Joe was a glib glad-hander who played the game as well as anyone. He could explain without missing a beat his devout Catholicism and his simultaneous support for abortion on demand. He was also quite electable, to a point. SNL's Woody Harrelson mocked him gently: "I'm like plastic straws. I've been around forever. I've always worked. And now you're mad at me?"

The frail, wandering Biden who emerged from his basement for a mini-campaign sometimes resembled an audio-animatronic replica of the veteran pol. But few other candidates developed even momentary traction — certainly not Kamala Harris, the oddly off-putting junior senator from California, who checked several boxes but never contested a primary. When she was tapped as V.P., the outline of a scheme began to emerge. The mainstream media, propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, would haul Joe across the finish line by praising manufactured virtues and burying ugly truths. The loyal or clueless would pull the Biden lever. Dead people and photocopies would provide the winning margin. Then, after a dignified interval, he could "develop some disease and say he'd have to resign," as he told us plainly, on camera with Harris. That card could be played whenever needed. Let the con run too long, and the public would get wise. Joe was certainly not up to the task of his new office. When he repeated aloud the whispered directive from his earpiece to "salute the Marines" upon entering the White House on Inauguration Day, we knew that it wouldn't get better. Six months of word salads and vacant stares from the leader of the free world have removed any doubt.

The problem? V.P. Harris is not ready for prime time.

Illinois legislature passes law requiring feminine hygiene products in boys' bathrooms
[Just The News] A bill awaiting the Illinois governor’s signature would require schools to provide free menstruation products in both girls' and boys' bathrooms for grades 4 through 12.

Currently, Illinois requires tampons to be provided to students who need them, but the supplies are kept in the nurse’s office.

State Rep. Kathleen Willis, D-Addison, a co-sponsor of the proposal, said products such as tampons and sanitary napkins are needed in both girls’ and boys’ bathrooms in order to address the health needs of transgender students.

"If you are biologically a female, but identifying as a male, you’re going to menstruate and you’re going to need these products," Willis said during floor debate.

Bill co-sponsor, state Sen. Karina Villa, D-West Chicago, said the measure was an effort to end period poverty.

During a debate in the Senate, state Sen. Jil Tracy, R-Quincy, asked Villa why feminine hygiene products needed to be provided in boys’ bathrooms. Villa responded, "in case of an emergency."

"I’m telling you there is no logic here," Tracy said. "For an emergency is not a good answer. We've got to quit playing these stupid silly games here and get real and get fiscally responsible."

State Rep. Avery Bourne, R-Morrisonville, voiced concerns over mandating schools to place these materials in all boys’ bathrooms, which would open the door for immature students to play with the costly resources.

...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
to Afghan forces.

Afghan military officials said Italian forces have pulled out their military equipment as well as destroyed some.

In recent weeks, loud explosions have been heard from the camp and military officials said the Italian forces destroyed large numbers of armored vehicles and heavy weapons before evacuating.

"In terms of military equipment, nothing was left for us from the Italians," said Major General Sayed Emal Pacha, the commander of an Afghan air force division.

"We pledge that our security and defense forces across Afghanistan are ready to defend our country and the people in the western zone and in Herat," said Abdul Saboor Qane, governor of Herat.

"All aviation services are being carried out by the professional cadres of Khawja Abdullah Ansari airport. There have been no problems at all at the airport following the withdrawal of foreign forces and flights are being carried out normally and regularly," said Abdul Shaheer Salehi, the director of Herat airport.

With the withdrawal of Italian forces from Herat, the control of Herat’s airport was also handed over to the Afghan government.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pound, the little lost dog backed into the corner and showed its teeth. And what big teeth they were!...
Germany also completed the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan.

Germany’s last troops left Afghanistan on Tuesday after nearly 20 years of deployment in the country, said German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer.

The German defense minister said in a tweet that the last Bundeswehr soldiers "left Afghanistan safely" on Tuesday evening.

She thanked the more than 150,000 troops who have served there since 2001 and said that "they can be proud of this mission."

Most European troops exit Afghanistan quietly after 20 years

[AlAhram] NATO

declined to give an update Wednesday on how many nations still have troops in its Resolute Support mission

Most European troops have already pulled out of Afghanistan, quietly withdrawing months before the U.S.-led mission was officially expected to end _ part of an anticlimactic close to the ``forever war'' that risks leaving the country on the brink of civil war.

Germany and Italia declared their missions in Afghanistan over on Wednesday and Poland's last troops returned home, bringing their deployments to a low-key end nearly 20 years after the first Western soldiers were deployed there.

Announcements from several countries analyzed by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named show that a majority of European troops has now left with little ceremony _ a stark contrast to the dramatic and public show of force and unity when NATO allies lined up to back the U.S. invasion to rid the country of al-Qaeda after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

In the ensuing decades, the war went from one mission to another. Former U.S. President George W. Bush's administration shied away from nation-building and the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
advocated a light footprint. But with the passing years, NATO and U.S. troops took on greater roles developing Afghanistan's National Security and Defense Forces and training police. At the war's peak, the U.S. and NATO military numbers surpassed 150,000.

NATO agreed in April to withdraw its roughly 7,000 non-American forces from Afghanistan to match U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem mschine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family...
's decision to pull all American troops from the country, starting May 1.

Biden set a Sept. 11 deadline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops. But more recently, American officials have said that pullout would most likely be completed by July 4 _ and many allies have moved to wrap up their own presence by then as well.

NATO declined to give an update Wednesday on how many nations still have troops in its Resolute Support mission. But an analysis of 19 governments' own announcements shows that more than 4,800 of the non-American forces have left.

The U.S. has refused to give troop figures, but when Biden announced the final pullout between 2,500 and 3,500 troops were deployed. The U.S. has also refused to give a clear date for their final withdrawal.

Germany publicly announced the end of its nearly 20-year deployment in a statement and a series of tweets from the defense minister late Tuesday evening, shortly after the last plane carrying its troops had left Afghan airspace.

Three transport aircraft landed at the Wunstorf air base in northern Germany on Wednesday afternoon. The troops, wearing masks, lined up on the tarmac for a brief ceremony, but the military dispensed with a bigger reception because of the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic.

``We have worked long and hard to stand here today,'' said Brig. Gen. Ansgar Meyer, the last commander of the German contingent. ``As your commander, I can say for you: `Mission accomplished.' You have fulfilled your task.''

But the top American general in Afghanistan gave a sobering assessment Tuesday, warning about the recent rapid loss of districts to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and cautioning that the country could descend into civil war.

The German pullout came amid a spate of withdrawals by European nations. Poland's last departing troops were greeted Wednesday by Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak. Some 33,000 Polish troops have served in Afghanistan over the past 20 years.

The last Italian troops from Italia's base in Herat arrived at the military airport in Pisa late Tuesday. Italia officially declared its mission in Afghanistan over in a statement Wednesday, with Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini paying tribute to the 53 Italians who died, and 723 who were maimed over the past two decades.

Going forward, Guerini said Italia's commitment to Afghanistan would remain strong but in other forms, ``beginning with the strengthening of development cooperation and support for Afghan institutions.''

Georgia's last troops returned home on Monday, while Romania brought home its remaining 140 troops on Saturday, when Norway also pulled out. Troops from Denmark, Estonia and the Netherlands also returned home last week. Spain withdrew its last troops on May 13, Sweden on May 25, and Belgium on June 14. The small contingents deployed by Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Finland, Albania, North Macedonia and Luxembourg have all left as well.

The pullout is nearing its end as security in Afghanistan worsens. Since May 1, when the withdrawal began, the Taliban have overrun district after district, including key ones along major transportation routes. Many have fallen after Afghan soldiers surrendered, often being convinced to leave their post by elders. But elsewhere there have been bitter military battles, with Afghan troops sometimes losing when their positions could not be resupplied.

The U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Austen S. Miller, meanwhile, expressed concern about the resurrection of militias, which were deployed to help the beleaguered national security forces but have a brutal reputation for widespread killing.

``A civil war is certainly a path that can be visualized if this continues on the trajectory it's on right now, that should be of concern to the world,'' he said.

At a ceremony last week to mark the official end of the Dutch deployment, Dutch Defense Minister Ank Bijleveld-Schouten underscored the uncertain outlook.

``We see reports of the rise of the Taliban, growing violence, also in areas where we were stationed,'' she said. ``A lot has been achieved but we must be realistic: The results are not irreversible.''

ANDSF Recaptures Parwan’s Shinwari District from Taliban
[ToloNews] As the fight between Afghan cops and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
continues to expand, the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANDSF) has recaptured Shinwari district from the Taliban in the northern province of Parwan.

"Shinwari district has been cleared, the security forces arrived there at 4:00 am and now the district is under government control," said Fazluddin Ayar, governor of Parwan.

Meanwhile,
...back at the hanging, Butch continued with his last words, trying not to repeat himself too often......
sources told TOLOnews that security forces have left several districts including Alasai district in Kapisa, Kaldar district in Balkh, Feroz Nakhchir district in Samangan and Gilan district in Ghazni.

Nevertheless, the Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that reinforcements have been sent to Ghazni province to repel Taliban attacks and also that security forces managed to break the siege of Hesarak district in Nangarhar

province.

Sources said that public uprising forces under the command of Nabi Ginji evacuated Kaldar district in Balkh and later the Taliban entered the district.

"When the Taliban attack a district, they face a strong resistance and it is difficult for the Taliban to take over the entire 370 districts in Afghanistan and maintain a grip on them," said military analyst Saleh Mohammad Registani.

"Imam Sahib port has been cleared from the Taliban, Hesarak district was also cleared. Massive casualties were inflicted on the Taliban as a result of an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
, the commandos have been sent to Ghazni for clearing operations," said Fawad Aman, deputy front man for the Ministry of Defense.

Over the past two months, the government has lost control of 110 districts across the country; however, the Afghan government has said that security forces have retaken control of ten districts in the past few days

Baghlan Residents: Taliban Using Homes as Fighting Positions
And grateful they should be for the opportunity to donate to the support the jihadis, too.
[ToloNews] Residents in Pul-e-Khumri city, the center of the Afghan northern province of Baghlan, on Wednesday said that the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
are using people’s homes as fighting positions as they battle Afghan forces.

A family who lost a member during the fighting has called on the warring parties to avoid using the people’s homes.

The Taliban has denied it is doing so.

"Both sides chant the slogan of Allah Akbar (God is great), both sides claim to be the deaders, the innocent people are also martyred," said Rassoul Khan, brother of the victim.

"It is not only the father who is faced with this tragedy, the entire village is suffering from it," said Abdullah, a resident of Pul-e-Khumri.

"My mother was maimed," said a child in Pul-e-Khumri.

"When I leave home for the office, many things come into my mind, I feel that there will be war there," said Frozan Sadat, a media worker in Pul-e-Khumri.

Baghlan has been one of the major battleground areas between the Afghan cops and the Taliban in the past two months.

Health officials in Baghlan on Tuesday said that over 100 non-combatants were killed and maimed--among them women and kiddies--in recent festivities between the Afghan cops and the Taliban in the province.

Afghan security officials in Baghlan said that the Taliban once again tried to penetrate the defenses of Pul-e-Khumri city on Monday night, however, security forces managed to repel the attacks.

"We hit them. Their corpses are still lying behind those walls. They have not transferred their dead bodies so far," said Raz Mohammad, an Afghan commando officer in Baghlan, referring to the battles with the Taliban.

35 murders in Syria's Turkish-occupied Afrin in 6 months
[NPASYRIA] A human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
organization revealed on Tuesday that 35 cases of murder, including nine women and 13 children, occurred in the Afrin region, northwestern Syria, during the past six months by the Ottoman Turkish army and its affiliated gangs.

Since The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
and Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition groups took control of Afrin and after its invasion of north Syria in March 2018, cases of murder, kidnapping, illegal logging, and building settlements in Afrin continues, according to human rights reports.

Ibrahim Sheikho, a front man for the Human Rights Organization — Afrin, said that the killings during the last six months in Afrin have reached 35, including nine women and 13 children.

He added to North Press, "This is a result of the practices of the Ottoman Turkish-backed groups, including bombings, explosions, and torture in the prisons of the gangs."

Sheikho stated that the frequency of kidnappings with the aim of collecting ransom money increased during the same period, reaching 303 cases, including 25 women and kiddies.

The human rights lawyer cited the kidnapping of two children, 15-year-old Hanan Manan Battal and 14-year-old Manan Manan Battal, from the village of Jaqli Wastani in the Sheikh Hadid district.

In late January, the pro-Ottoman Turkish Ahrar al-Sharqiya group kidnapped two brothers from Afrin on charges of dealing with the Autonomous Administration and demanded $15,000 for their release.

Sheikho also pointed to the continuation of theft, seizure of indigenous property, and the imposition of royalties.

Turkey and their affiliated gangs continue the policy of demographic change by building settlements to settle the families of the bad boys.

Sheikho said that the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition groups started constructing a settlement village in an area located between the villages of Kobaleh and Kaluta in Sherawa district in the Afrin countryside.

This is the third project of its kind with the support and funding of the Qatar

i Red Islamic Thingy to settle families of Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the homes and on the lands of displaced residents.

The organization has documented the prevention of 50 Afrin’s indigenous families from entering their homes in Bulbul district, north of Afrin, since the beginning of the Ottoman Turkish occupation, as 600 Turkmen families were settled in the same district.

The button men resort to setting fires in the forests in order to clear-cut and level the lands, as happened in the forested areas of the village of Aranda in the Sheikh Hadid district.

The fires devoured 20 hectares (200 dunums) of forested land in the forest that extends between the town of Sheikh al-Hadid and the villages of Ramadana and Hajj Hasanu.

Since the beginning of 2021, the areas of the northern countryside of Aleppo, which are sheltering IDPs from Afrin, have been subjected to repeated indiscriminate bombardment by Turkey and the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition groups.

On June 4, coinciding with the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, Ottoman Turkish bombing of the village of Kaluta in Sherawa district, in Afrin countryside resulted in the killing of a girl and the injury of her brother and father.

On January 23 of 2021, the bombing of Tel Rifaat city center resulted in the death of four people, including a woman and two children.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Bill Cosby's Conviction Vacated - Cosby Released
[Epoch Times] The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Wednesday overturned Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction, and he was released from a Pennsylvania state prison just hours later.

Pennsylvania Department of Corrections confirmed Cosby was released at around 2:30 p.m. ET, according to a tweet from the agency. Reporters on the scene said they saw the actor and comedian leave the facility and was being driven away in a white vehicle shortly afterward.

In an opinion (pdf) vacating his conviction, the Supreme Court court wrote that it found an agreement with a previous prosecutor had prevented the 83-year-old from being charged in the case.
So it's like prosecutorial misconduct?
Bruce Castor, who was the district attorney in the 2004 case, "determined that a prosecution would be frustrated because there was no corroborating forensic evidence and because testimony from other potential claimants against Cosby likely was inadmissible under governing laws of evidence," the Supreme Court wrote on Wednesday.
But that was in 2004. Cosby was convicted in 2015, thereby making up for OJ.

Biden's Proposed Death Tax Threatens American Families
[OAN] Republicans in Congress are slamming Joe Biden’s proposed death tax by calling it a terrible deal for Americans. During a roundtable discussion on Tuesday, Republicans on the House Ways and Meanings Committee bashed the provision in Biden’s American Families Plan by calling it a "supercharged death tax."

Ranking committee member Kevin Brady (R-Texas) said the new tax would throw American farms into disarray as well as kill jobs across the country.

"On local farms and businesses, will cost 1 million American jobs over the next 12 years," stated the Texas lawmaker. "This tax hike will also slash paychecks for workers, while shrinking our economy by $100 billion over the next decade."

As a component of the American Families Plan, Biden’s proposed tax would force farmers to pay capital gains of 40 percent on land inherited that could have been in their family for several generations in addition to the current 40 percent tax on the remaining estate.

According to congressman Adrian Smith (R-Neb.), the Democrat-led death tax would negatively impact almost every family owned business in America.

"They proposed doubling the capital gains rate at nearly 40 percent in the name of so-called fairness," he noted. "Rather than prioritizing economic growth or even revenue."

Brady accused the Biden administration of pulling a bait-and-switch on the American people. He claimed Biden never cared about building roads and bridges, only raising taxes on American families.

According to the Tax Foundation Organization, combining the death tax and capital gains tax as well as repealing a tax benefit known as Step-up in Basis, Americans could be hit with an effective marginal tax rate of 61 percent under the Biden proposal.

Wisconsin Supreme Court Rejects Lawsuit to Ban Absentee Ballot Drop Boxes
[THEEPOCHTIMES] The Wisconsin Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
recently rejected a lawsuit that sought to ban the state’s usage of absentee ballot drop-boxes, although another legal challenge on their use is still being considered in a lower court.Conservative businessman and GOP donor Jere Fabick in March petitioned (pdf) the state Supreme Court in March to consider a ban of the drop-boxes, arguing that they violate state election laws. He also sought to ban election officials from filling in missing addresses of witnesses on ballot envelopes, and his suit attempted to limit who can return absentee ballots to election clerks.

In a 4—3 ruling (pdf) on June 25, the court threw out the case but noted that the lawsuit raised important questions. The majority claimed that arguments contained within the lawsuit were not "clearly presented."

"While this court must not shrink back from deciding challenging or politically fraught questions properly before us, neither should we be eager to insert ourselves at the expense of time-tested judicial norms," said the majority in an unsigned opinion, adding that Fabick went straight to the state Supreme Court rather than following the usual procedure of filing a suit in a circuit court of with the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

The court’s justices are not "on call to answer questions from citizens, politicians or executive branch officials whenever the answer to a statutory question is unclear," the majority wrote.

In a dissenting opinion, Justice Pat Roggensack wrote that the court’s majority was avoiding urgent lawsuits.

"They are issues that cry for judicial resolution by the Wisconsin Supreme Court before the 2022 elections begin," she wrote, adding that questions about ballot drop-boxes and other election rules implemented last year during the COVID-19 pandemic should be answered.

Furthermore, Roggensack suggested that such measures could imperil the public’s trust in the state’s election system.

"We need elections whose results the public will accept because citizens believe that the elections were conducted fairly," her opinion read, further arguing that Fabick brought the lawsuit in a timely manner. Several other elections lawsuits were dismissed in recent months by the majority who used the rationale that they weren’t filed in a timely manner.

Border dispute poses risk of war between Sudan, Ethiopia: U.S diplomat
[Sudan Tribune] U.S. senior diplomat Tuesday said that the border dispute between Sudan and Æthiopia poses a risk of conflict.

Robert Godec, Robert Godec, Acting Assistant Secretary of State Bureau of African Affairs, made his statement in a hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on the conflict in the Tigray region of Æthiopia.

"The al-Fashaga border dispute poses a risk of conflict in the area. It is a deep dispute, and it is a considerable concern for the U.S.," Godec told the Congress members.

He further said his administration discussed the issue with Sudanese and Æthiopian officials and urged them to find a negotiated solution.

"But it is a risk," he stressed.

Last May, U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Jeffrey Feltman was in Khartoum for talks with Sudanese officials over the border dispute and the Grand Æthiopian Renaissance Dam’s crisis.

Speaking about the ongoing conflict in northern Æthiopia, the State Department was assessing the violations of human rights

committed in the region.

He further pointed to the continued presence of Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. n troops alongside the Æthiopian army in the Tigray region.

In a separate statement about the involvement of the Eritrean army in the conflict, he mentioned the deployment of Eritrean soldiers near the disputed area.

"Eritrean troops are present in al-Fashaga area," he added.

Last January, Sudanese military sources spokes to the Sudan Tribune about the deployment of Eritrean soldiers in the Æthiopia side of the border with Sudan.

In a visit to Khartoum on 4 May, President Isaias Afwerki sought to reassure the Sudanese officials and agreed with them to develop bilateral relations.

Supreme Court won't sidetrack plans for natural gas pipeline
[APNEWS] The Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
dealt a blow to New Jersey and other states seeking a way to oppose pipelines running through their land, siding with a pipeline company Tuesday in a dispute over New Jersey land needed for a natural gas pipeline. Both liberal and conservative justices joined to rule 5-4 for the PennEast Pipeline Co. The ruling says that companies building interstate pipelines, once their projects have been given the greenlight by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, can obtain the land they need even in the face of state opposition.

s had supported PennEast. Nineteen states had urged the Supreme Court to rule the other way and side with New Jersey.

In New Jersey’s case, the 116-mile planned pipeline is to run from Pennsylvania’s Luzerne County to Mercer County in New Jersey. FERC had allowed the company’s project to move forward in 2018 by granting PennEast a so-called certificate of public convenience and necessity, but lawsuits followed.

Olde Tyme Religion
-pattern Of Deception- Spawns Call For Southern Baptist Christian Resignations
[OneNewsNow] A Texas-based Christian talk-show host admits she's not a fan of the new president of the Southern Baptist Convention — but that's not the reason she's calling for him to step down.

Just two weeks into his term as the leader of America's largest Protestant denomination, Dr. Ed Litton (pictured) is taking some heat for what his detractors are calling plagiarism. Litton, who was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention on June 15, is accused of lifting significant portions of sermons from the SBC's immediate past SBC president, JD Greear. Following are some direct quotes from the two sermons:
Greear (January 2019): "Caligula was unfit to keep a pet, let alone run an empire."
Litton (January 2020): "He wasn't worthy of having a pet, much less being an emperor."

Greear: "He openly committed incest with three of his sisters."
Litton: "He openly lived in an incestuous relationship with his multiple sisters."

Greear: "He installed his favorite horse as a senator."
Litton: "He literally made his horse a Roman senator."

Greear: "How do you even vote when you're a horse in the senate? 'All in favor say aye, all opposed: neigh.'"
Litton: "When they voted, he would say 'neigh.'"
Both Litton and Greear have issued statements saying the material was borrowed with permission and no plagiarism took place. But according to critic Janet Mefferd, Litton lifted multiple sermons — and she says that's only one of several accusations against the new SBC president.

"At some point there's going to be a tipping point," the Christian radio talk-show host tells One News Now. "There is a pattern of deception here, and this man needs to resign — and if he's not going to resign from the Southern Baptist Convention as president, the SBC needs to fire him."

In a related column, Mefferd also accuses Greear himself of plagiarism, saying he "lifted someone else's line" when he said (in a sermon): "Homosexuality does not send you to hell. You know how I know that? Because heterosexuality does not send you to heaven."

Describing that statement as containing "theological train wreckiness and utter asininity," she attributes an almost identical statement to Pastor Tim Keller (co-founder of The Gospel Coalition) in a 2011 YouTube video.

"... For more reasons than just the plagiarism, neither of them [Litton and Greear] are above reproach anymore," she writes, "[and that's] a strict biblical qualification for any pastor."

Mefferd contends such deception could have a disastrous effect on the denomination — and absent a split, she's concerned whether the SBC can be saved as it has existed in the last several decades.

Government Corruption
Microsoft exec details 'frightening' DOJ 'abuse' of secret requests for Americans' data in hearing
[FoxBusiness] A Microsoft executive on Wednesday detailed the "frightening" abuse by the Department of Justice of "secrecy orders" that allow the government to take Americans' data from tech companies without ever letting them know.

Tom Burt, Microsoft's corporate vice president for customer security and trust, made the comments in a House Judiciary Committee hearing about Department of Justice abuse of such orders in prosecutions and leak investigations.

Burt lamented that "secrecy orders," which prevent Microsoft or other companies from letting customers know that the government is seeking their personal data, make it much easier for the government to skirt due process when pursuing an investigation. Therefore, Burt said, they've become shockingly "routine."

"It's no surprise then that through the Obama, Trump and Biden administrations, up to a third of all legal demands we received from federal law enforcement include secrecy orders, up to 3,500 in just one year," Burt said. "And these are just the demands on Microsoft. Add the demands likely served on Facebook, Apple, Twitter and others and you get a frightening sense of the mountain of secrecy orders used by federal law enforcement in recent years."

Burt said Microsoft takes steps to resist these requests, filing litigation to "assert our First Amendment right to inform our customers" and "ensure that citizens have the opportunity to exercise their Fourth Amendment rights."

Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif, remarked that the secrecy orders essentially force tech companies like Microsoft to take on an additional role protecting Americans' rights – which some may not be particularly interested in doing.

"The entire burden of protecting Fourth Amendment rights falls upon the service provider," she said.

George Washington University Law professor Jonathan Turley was also a witness at the hearing. He said established Supreme Court standards on data privacy are outdated and don't do enough to protect Americans.

"We have constantly seen privacy protections that have failed with new technology and this age we're living is making a mockery out of the standards made by the court," Turley said.

Burt continued: "Before cloud computing, if law enforcement wanted to get access to data on a computer or a network in your home or your office, they would have to obtain and serve a warrant in order to enter your premises and collect evidence…. However, today, if law enforcement wants to secretly search your virtual office in the cloud, they just serve a boilerplate warrant and secrecy order on your cloud provider that prevents notice to you."

Burt said examples of secrecy order "abuse" include orders used when the customer was a victim rather than a suspect; an investigation that targets one person in a "reputable" organization but the order prevents Microsoft from giving notice to anyone at an organization; and when the government secretly demands records that are the subject of a discovery dispute in another case.

The hearing Wednesday happened in the wake of revelations that the Justice Department secretly seized the records of several news organizations while investigating leaks under both the Trump and Biden administrations. The same thing happened during the Obama administration.

Burt said such invasive and secretive investigations are "not limited to investigations targeting the media and Congress" but affect everyday Americans as well.

The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News.

Iraq
Duhok family narrowly survives Turkish bombardment
[RUDAW.NET] Shrapnel caused by recent Ottoman Turkish bombardment hit the front of a villager’s house in Duhok province’s Hirore village and the family told Rudaw they barely survived.
Hassan Abdullah lives with his wife and daughter in Hirore. Their house is isolated by about three kilometers from the other nearly 300 houses in the village, according to the chief of the village, Azad Adeeb.

"There has been constant bombardment there all the time over the last three days," he told Rudaw English late on Tuesday. The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
"does not discriminate between the PKK and villages when it bombards. They just want to kill Kurds."

The chief or mukhtar added the Ottoman Turkish army bombed an area nearly 50 meters from Abdullah’s house at 9:15 pm on Monday, causing some 10 pieces of shrapnel to hit the front of the house.

Only 54 of the 300 houses in the villages are inhabited, Adeeb said.

Turkey launched twin military operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Duhok province late April. Hirore village is one of the areas where the fighting is intense.

The PKK is an gang struggling for the increased rights of Kurds in Turkey and is considered a terrorist organization by the country. Ankara regularly attacks the group at home and inside the Kurdistan Region.

Abdullah told Rudaw the Ottoman Turkish army’s constant bombardment in the vicinity of his house was followed by shrapnel bursting into the patio of his home, with one piece hitting his bed at the entrance of the house. Luckily, he was not in bed at the time as it was late afternoon.

Holding some pieces of shrapnel he had collected from his house, he said when some warplanes left the airspace over the village, others replaced them.

The bombardments have also caused several cracks in his house.

"We are currently on alert and cannot even irrigate our farm. We can’t do any work while my life relies on pomegranate trees and others," said the elderly man.

His wife, Habiya Mustafa, said they cannot even go out.

"We can’t go out either during the day or night time. There is constant bombardment."

The Population Bomb Doomsday Scam
[SPECTATOR.ORG] It may be the most astonishing story of the year that no one is paying much attention to. As the Wall Street Journal recently reported on their front page, "Chinese officials are drawing up plans to further loosen birth restrictions and transition toward policies that explicitly encourage childbirth," (emphasis added).
My personal opinion is that population growth has probably peaked. Couples can limit the number of their children with just a little pill.
According to Chinese insiders, China, the most populous nation on the planet, is replacing its brutish childbirth restrictions with a program allowing, and even rewarding, couples for having kids. Beijing has announced that its demographic problem today is too few young people, not too many.

The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

put the point even more emphatically in its coverage of this amazing twist of fate, by acknowledging in a headline that the dreaded "population bomb" of the 1960s and ’70s has turned into a global "population bust."

Let us put it even more concisely: the greatest environmental/demographic scare of the second half of the 20th century — overpopulation — is now officially conceded to have been a monumental fraud.

To appreciate what an embarrassing reversal this is for the green movement, consider that 40 to 50 years ago nearly all the scientists, policymakers, U.S. government agencies, and experts at the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
told us that rampaging population growth would lead to a Malthusian doomsday with the world in our lifetimes running out of food, energy, and nearly everything else. If ever there were an ironclad "scientific consensus," this was it.

In their 1967 book Famine 1975!, U.S. government agronomist William Paddock and Foreign Service officer Paul Paddock predicted that population growth would soon lead to such mass starvation in so many nations that triage would be required and that nations like India and Egypt should be written off as "can’t-be-saved."

Stanford scientist Paul Ehrlich became the most famous academic in the world with his mega-bestseller The Population Bomb and its widely quoted opening sentence: "The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s and 1980s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now." Ehrlich was Al Gore
...Former Vice President, Nobel Prize winner, Global Warming prophet and speculator, and crazed sex poodle Al Gore...
before there was Al Gore.
there have always been charlatans and assholes. Gore was just a snotty liberal hypocrite that he made me wanna punch his fat face every time I saw him
It wasn’t just some academic kooks who were peddling these apocalyptic predictions. In 1975, a statement signed by such luminaries as soon-to-be National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, Nobel Prize-winning scientist Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, business titans J. Paul Getty and Henry Luce III, United Auto Workers President Leonard Woodcock, and others appeared on a full page of the Wall Street Journal with a similar forecast: "The world as we know it will likely be ruined before the year 2000," because "food production cannot keep pace with the galloping growth of population."

#4  As we have seen in country after country that becomes a 2nd or 1st world country, their population naturally declines. People like their pleasures, you don't need extra hands to help out around the house and kids are bloody expensive.

All that together makes richer countries naturally stop having kids and their replacement rate declines below replacement levels.

Get the world richer, they have less kids.

#5  The commandment to 'honor thy father and mother' was to insure they were taken care of in later life. Since they've moved that to the state, many in the 1st world don't believe in having kids around to do that. Given that the evil vile patriarchy spent a lot of effort in the early 20th century to reduce child mortality rates and fatal complications of birthing, the need to have many was also impacted.

Tigray official urges ceasefire as rebels enter regional capital
[Sudan Tribune] An official of the State Interim Administration of Æthiopia’s Tigray region has called for ceasefire as Tigrayan fighters began entering the regional capital, Mekelle.

On Monday, rebel fighters better known as Tigray Defence Forces started advancing Mekelle after Æthiopian government troops retreated from the regional city.

Thousands of residents, New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported, erupted into the streets on Monday night, waving flags and shooting off fireworks after hearing that Tigrayan forces had advanced to the city.

The Æthiopian national army had occupied the Tigray region since last November, after invading in cooperation with Eritrea

n and militia forces to take full control from the regional government.

But the Tigray Interim Administration Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Abraham Belay has called for ceasefire in the northern region in the light of the upcoming rainy season agricultural activities.

The ceasefire, he said, seeks to facilitate a conducive environment for the agricultural activities and ongoing humanitarian activities in the region.

The decision for the call of the ceasefire came after continuous consultations were conducted with representatives of the communities in the region, regional and zonal officials and scholars of the region and inventors and other segments of societies originating from Tigray, said Belay.

"Some factions of the terrorist TPLF [Popular Struggle for the Freedom of Tigray] have shown interest to resort to peaceful settlement of the problem in the region," he stressed.

In recent weeks, the Tigray Defense Forces have reportedly captured areas south of Mekelle that were held by Æthiopian forces or militias allied with them.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
refugees and international observers have accused the invading forces of wide-ranging atrocities, including ethnic cleansing, and of pushing the region to the brink of famine.

The New Budweiser Commercial Goes Full Patriotic and It Uses the Greatest Speech In Movie History to do It
[Red State] Budweiser isn't my favorite beer company and it's done some woke nonsense in the past, but its recent commercial is a straight-up patriotic knock out of the park and it encourages us to celebrate our independence day with one of the most patriotic speeches ever made in cinema.

You probably know the one I'm talking about already, especially if you're in my age group, and in the interest of keeping to my tactic of rewarding a business when it does good and lambasting it when it does bad, let's check out this latest commercial.

I was but a lad when I sat down to watch the unbelievably amazing movie Independence Day in the movie theaters. That movie was pure genius with stellar acting, awesome visual effects, edge-of-your-seat action, and writing that allowed for levity and seriousness to coexist side by side. Thing is, one moment always sticks out from that movie, and it wasn't the White House blowing up.

Near the end of the movie, before the climax, President Thomas J. Whitmore (Bill Pullman) gave a speech that still gives out goosebumps to this day.

Well, we faced a different threat, and it wasn't aliens from outer space. The world was facing the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the spirit of the world fighting against a threat as one, Budweiser decided to seize on the moment and used this famous speech to encourage people to party harder during the 4th of July than ever before.

The cool part? They brought Bill Pullman back to give the speech again, and with a few alterations.

Enjoy.

For the first time in 25 years, Bill Pullman is back with a new speech to celebrate Independence Day. Watch now and #GoFourthAmerica.

Join us in supporting vaccine access everywhere in partnership with @directrelief pic.twitter.com/yt6CmU9kSP

— Budweiser (@budweiserusa) June 30, 2021

It's odd that even as many leaders, media, and activists would still have people terrified of COVID, Budweiser is actually telling people to get out there and celebrate the 4th in style. You'll notice there wasn't any mask-wearing in the commercial either.

Good on Budweiser for this commercial. Not only did they knock it out of the park by utilizing the Whitemore speech, but they also shrugged off the hysteria that we're all still going to die tomorrow.

Go fourth, America.

Turkish occupation shells villages in Tal Abyad environs, Raqqa countryside
[SANA.SY] The Ottoman Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries of terrorist organizations once again targeted with rocket shells the citizens’ houses in the vicinity of the occupied city of Tal Abyad, Raqqa northern countryside.

On July 21st, Ottoman Turkish occupation forces targeted with heavy artillery, the houses in Kur Hassan village, west of Tal Abyad, Raqqa northern countryside, and al-Mabloujah village and Qaz’ali silos, northwest of Ayn Issa causing damages to a number of residential houses and the properties.

The Top Ten Pending Eruptions
[AMERICANTHINKER] It’s shaping up to be a long, hot summer, one filled -- like Yellowstone Park -- with geysers and hot springs ready to blow at any moment. But these are political eruptions, not nature's fury. If I didn’t know that God has things under control I’d be terrified, but in the interest of keeping track of the truth let’s list the top 10 political eruptions we can expect to blow sometime soon.

10. Hunter Biden
......son of President Joe: cashiered from the Navy, a crackhead, wheeler dealer, leg humper, horn dog, and general all around ne'er do well. We're supposed to feel sorry for him.....
. He’s at the end of the list because what happens with him is not likely to directly impact any of us, but he’s such a shocking collection of immoralities and corruptions that we all know deep in our bones that such nastiness cannot be condoned in a reasonable, prosperous, free society. Hardly a week goes by without some new scandal surfacing, and each seems worse than the last. Now he’s selling "paintings" as a money-laundering scheme. He and his slimy doings are bad enough by themselves, but he’s the president’s son. Sooner or later something has to be done about him and about the part his father has played in all of it.

#1  I'd add a couple to make an even dozen from the following: Corruption in government; this exists in the judiciary, legislature and executive branches. Weaponization of government against the people. Deep State problems that come about from a government that is too big and out of control.

#3  Peeper observed.
Ma and Pa get their guns.
Peeper runs to gas station.
Ma approaches, Peeper goes for her gun.
Pa shoots Peeper.

So instead of a minor felony and public nuisance charge, the Peeper goes for robbery and attempted murder and Pa stands in self-defense.

A good story. Hope it's true.

#4  The story doesn't quite match the headline. There were a lot of things that happened besides the Peeping Tom before the father ended up shooting.

This will go to the grand jury which will "No Bill" the charge and the father will get his gun back and be free.

#5  Honestly, in Texas, if he's on the property, after dark and unknown to the residents, requirements for lethal force are met. He COULD have simply been shot where he was.

Sec. 9.42. DEADLY FORCE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or tangible, movable property:

(1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.41; and

(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:

(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime; or

(B) to prevent the other who is fleeing immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the property; and

(3) he reasonably believes that:

(A) the land or property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means; or

(B) the use of force other than deadly force to protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

Concealed Carry insurance. If you don't have it, get it. Be sure and read the small print. As you might imagine, not all instances are covered.

#7  Given it's Texas, they're not as likely to need it as much. Still, I wouldn't have followed them off the property unless he'd breached the house or touched a kid. On my property the above law applies, once I'm off, it's way different.

#8  in Texas, if he's on the property, after dark and unknown to the residents, requirements for lethal force are met.

There was an incident in Houston where a homeowner shot the guy trying to repo his car at night. It was a legal repo, but the "you can shoot 'em at night" law was upheld.

#9  In many, many discussions of civilian shootings, it has been well hashed out that, whatever a criminal might be doing, if he walks away, following him and then shooting him will not make your lawyer's job any easier. Get video. Get witnesses. File a complaint. Let the cops do the apprehending. Yes, every situation is different, but there are people in jail for shooting a shoplifter in a parking lot. That's just not a proper application of defensive firearms use.

#10  In the instance of the repo wrecker driver that was killed, the key piece was a 'fenced yard'. Inside your fence, you're felt to be justified. The wrecker driver open the gate and backed up to the guy's car.
The sad irony was that the guy had been behind on his payments, but had gone down and caught up that very day. The repo guy saw the car, but didn't call it in to check.

Kira Davis: No More Dancing Around...It's Time to End Teachers Unions
[Red State] When I first started in school choice activism, the recommended approach was to never criticize the teachers unions. The union PR machine has been so effective over the decades that just to mention the roadblocks they routinely throw up in front of education progress was a third rail. It would earn you the label "union buster" among the very people you were trying to persuade. School choice is a bipartisan issue with plenty of Democrats in favor of it, but it was hard to enlist those Democrats to team up in the fight when it might seem like you’re asking them to denigrate the union system.

So we stayed away from it and made our arguments in other ways. There’s too much money and not enough accountability; stats show choice works; poor minority students benefit most from school choice; school choice creates competition which drives public schools to up their game. There’s a long list of persuasive arguments and in the interest of not creating an unnecessary divide in delicate alliances, we tiptoed around the union issue.

But I can no longer deny the biggest issue facing the success of our students. I can no longer pretend that the number one roadblock to providing the education our communities need is just a "side issue." I can no longer be a party to the perpetuation of greed in the name of "coming together." What has happened to our children during COVID has stripped away the last of my tolerance.

Teachers unions are a scourge and it is time to end them.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m a student of history and I understand the power of collective bargaining and how it changed our society for the better during the industrial age. The wealthy and entrepreneurial industrialists pushed us into the era of American dominance and that is a good thing. There is no doubt that without being forced into accountability, many would have continued to abuse and overwork desperate employees and their children. Unionizing forced that accountability.

Power and greed are not exclusive to any one economic set, and unfortunately as unions began to increase in influence and dues money, they also increased their greed. Which is fine when a private company is negotiating with union bullies. That’s a transactional relationship and companies can be held accountable for their own terrible negotiations. I don’t like it, but it’s private business. Everyone can do what they want.

Public school teachers are paid by the taxpayers. When they unionize they do not do so against a large corporation like Ford or GE. They are necessarily unionizing against the taxpayer. Except the taxpayers have no say in negotiations. It’s a one-sided relationship, with unions having all the power and their bosses (we, the taxpayers) having no choice but to pray they negotiate themselves into actually serving our children.

So far they have failed miserably. It should be no surprise, given that they are unions for teachers, not students. It’s right there in the name. But it is shameful that people like Randi Weingarten keep using our children as shields for their greed, pretending that everything they do is for the students. Nothing they do is for children and I might not even mind that if they were honest about it.

The Weingartens of the world have no interest in making better opportunities for our children. The greedy underbelly of their noble exterior has been stripped away by COVID. While parents helplessly watched their children sink into isolation and depression and lose over a year of vital skills work, the teachers unions bullied local schools boards and muscled their way into the CDC — of all places — to enforce their desires on the COVID language coming out of the nation’s health entities.

It was supremely evil.

It is even more evil that Randi Weingarten — president of America’s most powerful teachers union and the head of the lone stumbling block preventing schools from returning to education — has been trying to gaslight Americans into believing that she’s been advocating to get kids back to school this whole time.

#2  ...True Story - during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, one of these things had somehow made it to Beirut, where it appeared in a bit of video.

Its new owners were, sadly, PLO...who had turned the L'RE into an improvised Katyushka, having dropped a multi-barrel rocket launcher in the bed and training it out about 90 degrees in the approximate direction of the infidels.

More than happy to do the test firing in front of the film crew,(who, interestingly, were actually some distance away from the truck and had zoomed in; an indication that they suspected what was coming next) the firing procedure was apparently to crank the launcher up to max elevation, then fire it - with a set of cables touched to what looked to be a boat battery. Unfortunately, as the PLO hearties were dragging the cables out behind the truck, they failed to notice that they hadn't set the elevation lock properly or at all - so just as the troop touches the cable to the battery, you see the launcher barrels drop majestically downwards and let the entire salvo loose into the ground...about 30 feet away. The 'gunner' comes hauling a$$ out of the cloud of dust and flame holding his hands over both ears, and the L'RE was blown onto its left side. Still apparently intact, however.

Government Corruption
The Legal Lynch Mob Going After Trump
[AMERICANTHINKER] There has been an increasingly frenzied gusher of leaks from the offices of New York County’s District Attorney, Cyrus Vance, Jr., telling breathless journalists that the grand jury is about to indict The Trump Organization, maybe as early as next week. These leaks specifically relate to the sitting grand jury (which just continued a previous one dating back to 2018). These leaks tell the public that the grand jury will indict Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
any day now.

Of course, the hyper-ventilating journalists are confusing an "any day now" indictment of The Trump Organization (a company) with an arrest of Donald Trump as a person. Within a few hours of publication of this article, Politico and other outlets are claiming that leaks indiucate there will be no indictment, while the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

claims, "An indictment against the business, the Trump Organization, and a top executive, Allen Weisselberg, could come as soon as this week in Manhattan."

However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
some activists crow that if Trump’s business is indicted, this will trigger a financial collapse of Trump’s empire. They argue that all contracts will be automatically cancelled, and loans ’called’ in because TTO is under indictment (though innocent until proven guilty). Thus, they gleefully predict, Trump will be ruined. That makes Vance’s leaks more damaging than Giuliani allegedly casting doubt on Biden’s status as President.

New York Penal Law § 215.70 "Unlawful grand jury disclosure" says:

A person is guilty of unlawful grand jury disclosure when, being a grand juror, a public prosecutor, a grand jury stenographer, a grand jury interpreter, a police officer or a peace officer guarding a witness in a grand jury proceeding, or a clerk, attendant, warden or other public servant having official duties in or about a grand jury room or proceeding, or a public officer or public employee, he intentionally discloses to another the nature or substance of any grand jury testimony, or any decision, result or other matter attending a grand jury proceeding which is required by law to be kept secret, except in the proper discharge of his official duties or upon written order of the court. Nothing contained herein shall prohibit a witness from disclosing his own testimony. Unlawful grand jury disclosure is a class E felony.

One of the reasons why it is a Class E Felony in New York to reveal what the grand jury is doing is to avoid people being publicly smeared if they are never in fact indicted.

Why is the D.A.’s office so desperate to make the public believe that — any day now — Trump is going to be hauled off in hand cuffs? New York City is of course extremely left-wing politically.

Family, friends curse US at funeral for PMF fighter killed in airstrike
[RUDAW.NET] At the funeral on Tuesday for an Iraqi militiaman killed in a United States Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
, family and friends cursed the US and said there are "a thousand more" ready to take his place.

Karar Abdulaziz, 27, was a Shabak Kurd and a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). He was one of four PMF fighters killed in a US airstrike on the Iraq-Syria border on Monday.

"The airstrike has extinguished the candle in our house. What should we do? God damn both the US and Israel. God damn them both, now and in the hereafter. They attack houses of people, may God attack theirs," said Zainal Abdulaziz, brother of Karar Abdulaziz.

Early Monday morning, the US launched "defensive precision airstrikes" against Iran-backed factions of the PMF on the Iraq-Syria border. "The targets were selected because these facilities are utilized by Iran-backed militias that are engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks against US personnel and facilities in Iraq," the Pentagon stated.

Two days earlier, four explosive-laden drones hit locations northeast of Erbil, within a few kilometres of where the new US consulate is under construction. Drones are a growing worry in Iraq and the PMF are blamed for at least six drone attacks or attempted attacks in Iraq this year.

The militias, which are also accused of firing rockets at bases housing US troops, want to force American troops out of the country.

‘Not a healthy environment': Kamala Harris' office rife with dissent
[Politico] When Vice President Kámala Harris
Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's former mistress, now a senatrix from California former 2020 Dem presidential hopeful, then Joe Biden's wing nut...
finally made the decision to visit the Mexico border last week, people inside her own office were blindsided by the news.

For days, aides and outside allies had been calling and texting with each other about the political fallout that a potential trip would entail. But when it became known that she was going to El Paso, it left many scrambling, including officials who were responsible for making travel arrangements and others outside the VP’s office charged with crafting the messaging across the administration.

The handling of the border visit was the latest chaotic moment for a staff that’s quickly become mired in them. Harris’ team is experiencing low morale, porous lines of communication and diminished trust among aides and senior officials. Much of the frustration internally is directed at Tina Flournoy, Harris’ chief of staff, a veteran of Democratic politics who began working for her earlier this year.

In interviews, 22 current and former vice presidential aides, administration officials and associates of Harris and Biden described a tense and at times dour office atmosphere. Aides and allies said Flournoy, in an apparent effort to protect Harris, has instead created an insular environment where ideas are ignored or met with harsh dismissals and decisions are dragged out. Often, they said, she refuses to take responsibility for delicate issues and blames staffers for the negative results that ensue.

Another take:
Kamala Can't Run the Country Or Even Manage Her Own People

Not only can't she run the country, let alone tackle any major problems, but she can't even manage her own people.

Her Veepness turns out to be an echo of the same mess as her campaign.

By then her campaign had broken out in spasms of vicious infighting between her sister Maya and campaign manager Juan Rodriguez who were only speaking to each through media leaks. Rodriguez had run Kamala’s Senate campaign and had the requisite skills to win elections in a corrupt one-party state. He was out of his depth competing in a national election and the dysfunctional campaign showed it.

Virologist and medical doctor Li-Meng Yan told Carlson that according to I-94 records, her husband has entered the United States with an HB-1 visa for two years and may be planning to harm her with the assistance of the CCP and some within the U.S.

Prior to her escape from China in April of 2020, Yan claimed that her husband attempted to "harm" her in a variety of ways, including poisoning, in order to stop her from fleeing the country.

Yan, who was working at a World Health Organization reference lab in Hong Kong during the onset of the pandemic, was assigned as a secret investigator to probe COVID-19, which was being called the "Wuhan pneumonia" at the time. However, she said she was warned by her supervisor, Dr. Leo Poon, not to ask too many questions.

She was told not to touch the "red-line" or else face the consequences from the CCP.

"Don't touch the red line-- that means ‘invisible principle,’" Yan said. "Don't break it. If not, I have to be responsible for that. It means the invisible things that China's government won't be happy [about]."

Utilizing her network of contacts – which included Chinese lab researchers, CDC-involved military, and civilian locations -- Yan soon noticed "abnormal" actions being taken by the CCP.

"So briefly, China's government knows those things happened in Wuhan. And it's definitely more than they announced, at least for the confirmed cases," Yan said. "They hide one-third of patients."

"And all the patients has [sic] to have the seafood market history before they get diagnosed, which is very abnormal," Yan added. "And this time—"

"I'm sorry-- but you're saying that China would not diagnose COVID unless the person who was infected with COVID had been to the seafood market?" Carlson asked.

"Exactly."

Yan determined, in her opinion, that COVID-19 was a biologically engineered weapon that got out of control, designed by the Chinese military after they learned of its effectiveness during the first SARS outbreak.

This virus was a prime candidate to turn into a biological weapon, but the CCP first needed to test the virus on a small sample group in order to determine how to best utilize it against the world.

Yan was shocked to discover that the testing site was Wuhan. China was allegedly testing on its own people.

"They test it in Wuhan. It gets out of control. They didn't expect that to happen," she said. "At that point, they realize, OK, it's out. They lied about that. But then, they intentionally allowed some huge number of people, some infected, from Wuhan to travel around the world to infect the rest of the world."

[MSN] Sold out: Royal Caribbean announces Florida summer sailings are booked

Royal Caribbean announced sailings for cruises out of Florida in July and August are sold out.

The announcement on Tuesday includes voyages on the Freedom of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Odyssey of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas.

If you still want to sail this summer, your options are now from Galveston, Texas; Seattle or Nassau, Bahamas, the cruise line said.

Royal Caribbean said customer demand for cruises remained high, even during the pandemic.

The frenzy for bookings is called "pent-up demand" by Royal Caribbean, saying it is from those wanting to make up for "lost time of little to no vacation in 2020."

"People are clamoring for opportunities to have experiences outside their home," said Chairman and CEO Richard Fain during the fourth quarter 2020 earnings call.

Freedom of the Seas will set sail from Florida this weekend.

Latvia opens Russian 6 spy cases
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] Six criminal cases of "espionage in favor of Russia" have been opened in Latvia. This was reported by BaltNews with a reference to the statement of the National Security Service of the country.

It is reported that out of six criminal cases, two have already been sentenced, and two are still under trial.

The details of the rest of the cases are kept secret. The secret services of Latvia also do not disclose the names of those against whom there are suspicions of "espionage". They explain their position by the interests of national security and the fear that the suspects may hide.

As reported by IA REGNUM , on June 11 this year, the deputy of the Latvian parliament Janis Adamsons was arrested. The deputy is suspected of transmitting information to Russia in recent years.

The information allegedly concerned both publicly available documents on state budget spending on the military sphere, and intra-parliamentary discussions on countering the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Billionaire Funds South Dakota National Guard Deployment To U.S-Mexico Border
[ZeroHedge] South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem tweeted Monday that she's sending 50 of her state's National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas and will be paid for by a private donation, according to Axios.

Noem said, "I'm officially announcing up to 50 National Guard troops to Texas to help secure our border." She said President Biden has forgotten that a secured border is critical to maintaining a sovereign nation. "We shouldn't be making our own communities vulnerable by sending police to fix Biden's border crisis."

The funding for the troop deployment is coming from a "Tennessee billionaire and high-dollar Republicans," Axios said.

Noem spokesperson Ian Fury told Axios the funds are coming from a foundation run by billionaire Willis Johnson.
Never heard of him. How many billionaires are running around these days, anyway?
There was no word on the size of the donation or the exact mission the troops would be conducting.

Johnson has spent millions of dollars to bankroll several political campaigns, including former President Trump's reelection campaign.
From Wikipedia:
Willis J. Johnson (born 1947) is an American billionaire businessman.[2] He is the founder and former chief executive of Copart, a vehicle salvage and auction company, founded in 1982.

Johnson is politically conservative and supports the Republican Party. Since 2001, he has contributed at least $1.5 million to different conservative causes.
About this donation, Mr. Johnson said:
“You’ve got illegals coming in and I just think they ought to follow the rules of America. South Dakota is a small state. They want to help America, I want to help them."
Meanwhile down in Texas, according to PJ Media:
Gov. Greg Abbott has just reached Grand Master level in epic trolling, while also enacting a popular policy that will do some good for his state.

#3  Couple of points. The confusedly named "National Guard" belongs to the states. Also, as opposed to the actual Reserves, the Guard components have the actual line units. If the feds need to call up a rifle battalion, it's a Guard unit, not a reserve unit.

So the state governors control the Guard, with its line units. Just sayin'....
Interesting point about funding. Money's fungible, anyway.

#4  Texas Governor Greg Abbott is using stimulus money to build a wall, which is infuriating liberals

However, they have not problem with Ms Lightfoot redirecting funds. It's all about who's ox is getting gored.

And as to the Guard, it is the Guard Bureau (Deep State Pentagon) that insists that governors need infantry, artillery, and armor units. I suspect the governors would prefer military police, engineers, transportation and medical for natural disasters.

#5  /\ Army Force Development trivia:

In the 1990's I believe it was, the Army Reserve and Guard Bureau orchestrated a swap or trade as it were. The Army Reserve relinquished the majority of their combat arms units (Infantry, Armor, Artillery) along with Aviation and opted for Combat Service Support or CSS (Engineers, Transportation, Medical, Military Intelligence, Quartermaster, etc).

The arrangement was presided over by the Active Army who, at the time, was looking to downsize and find a place to put infrequently needed CSS elements and equipment. There were numerous political and financial aspects concerning the swap as well.
Posted by: Besoeker || 07/01/2021 5:56 Comments || Top||

#6  /\ There were practical and political elements. The mass mobilization for WW2 showed that an "all arms" NG/Reserve Division required about 12 months to be deployable. A new "draftee" Division would take 16-18 months if provided a training cadre.

Next, combat can have catastrophic losses to small units. The Army was aware of the political fallout of having a "Bedford Boys" incident where a NG unit from one particular town was massacred. Moving Reserve/NG units to support roles made this less likely.

Howsomuch ever, five 1/2 months training on the 60's, it was 'wheels up' for Vietnam. After losing 70,000 men soldiers, sailors, USAF, and Marines in Vietnam, I'm not certain the Army cared much about losses.

Some truth found in nearly everything I suppose.

#10  Federal service for Guardsmen comes through either Title 10 or Title 32 active duty status and is entirely funded by the federal government. Since all Guard personnel have essentially taken two Oaths of Enlistment/Commisioning, they are also at the call of the Governor in a state active duty (SAD) status, the details and scope of which are determined by each state. If SD sends troops in a SAD status, the US government has no say in the matter and depending on state laws, it might be funded by any number of means.

Catholics Are Getting Smart About Responding to Gender Ideology
[American Spectator.org] Catholic parishes, schools, and dioceses have for years responded to transgenderism by simply ignoring the issue altogether. But that's starting to change, largely because the problem is getting too big for churches to ignore.

"My sense is that nearly every parish includes families with loved ones grappling with identity issues or gender dysphoria," Mary Rice Hasson told The American Spectator.

Hasson, who directs the Catholic Women's Forum at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, recently founded an initiative called the Person and Identity Project, which aims to equip Catholic parishes and schools with resources to combat gender ideology.

Florida Truckers Show Support For Daytona Beach Officer Allegedly Shot By Man Linked To Black Militia
[Fox News] Officer Jason Raynor remains in critical condition a week after being shot in head

Truckers gathered outside a Florida hospital on Tuesday evening to show their support for a Daytona Beach Police officer still recovering, a week after being shot in the head by a man who was eventually apprehended at a Black nationalist paramilitary encampment in Georgia.

The so-called community vigil involved tow truckers from across central Florida and took place outside the Halifax Health Medical Center, where 26-year-old officer Jason Raynor remains hospitalized in critical condition.

"We just need the family to know that we are here. The community backs them," Amanda Balboa, of Arrow Service and Towing, told WESH during the vigil. "We’ve got to let them know we’re here for them."

A large American flag was hoisted over an entryway, as a crowd of people in the parking lot bowed their heads in prayer for Raynor. They later hopped into their rigs to do a lap around the hospital, wailing on their horns and cheering to let the officer inside feel their presence.

Raynor's family watched the vigil below from a hospital window, the police chaplain said. Organizers also collected donations for the family. Speaking at the event, the chaplain quoted scripture, saying, "What the devil meant for evil, God used for good."

Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young told reporters Raynor was "fighting for his life" immediately following the June 23 shooting. His condition has since improved enough to endure testing at the hospital, Young said Monday, according to WKMG, but the officer has a long road to recovery.

Raynor was shot just before 9 p.m. as he approached a vehicle while responding to a report of a "suspicious incident." Bodycam footage shows he asked the driver if he lived in the area when a brief struggle ensued. He was shot seconds later.

Following a 56-hour manhunt, Othal Toreyane Resheen Wallace,

A few months ago they established a “homeland” called Orisha Land in some square blocks confiscated from the center of Austin, with a secondary, failing farm commune in the Colorado Rockies. Founder leader Grandmaster Jay (John Fitzgerald Johnson), who started out reasonably sane, currently thinks we live in a period of apocalyptic tribulation signaled by the movements of celestial bodies...
and houses a "Black nationalist paramilitary encampment," according to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

During a brief court hearing in George on Tuesday, Wallace, charged with attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer with a firearm, waived his right to a formal extradition hearing, clearing the way for him to be brought back to Florida — though it's unclear when that will occur, according to Fox 32 Orlando.

FBI Jacksonville is aiding Daytona Beach Police in the next steps of the investigation.

Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts suffer huge declines in membership
[WASHINGTONTIMES] America’s most iconic youth organizations — the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the USA — have been jolted by unprecedented one-year drops in membership, due partly to the pandemic, and partly to social trends that have been shrinking their ranks for decades.
I think it was the social trends that dunnit.
Membership for the BSA’s flagship Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA programs dropped from 1.97 million in 2019 to 1.12 million in 2020, a 43% plunge, according to figures provided to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. Court records show membership has fallen further since then, to about 762,000.

The Girl Scouts say their youth membership fell by nearly 30%, from about 1.4 million in 2019- 2020 to just over 1 million this year.

Both groups, like several other U.S. youth organizations, have experienced declining membership for many years. The Girl Scouts reported youth membership of about 2.8 million in 2003. The BSA had more than 4 million boys participating in the 1970s.

Reasons for the drop include competition from sports leagues, a perception by some families that they are old-fashioned, and busy family schedules. The pandemic brought a particular challenge.

In Lawrence, New Jersey, 8-year-old Joey Yaros stopped attending meetings while most in-person gatherings were shut down, and might not go back, even though his father and three brothers all earned the elite Eagle Scout rank. Joey was already struggling with virtual school classes, and the family didn’t pressure him to also participate in virtual Cub Scout activities.

"If there are den meetings in the fall, we’ll see if he gets back in the swing of it," said his father, high school history teacher Jay Yaros. "There are a lot of interesting things for kids to do these days, and scouting doesn’t seem to be keeping up."

The Boy Scouts’ problems are compounded by their decision to seek bankruptcy protection in February 2020 to cope with thousands of lawsuits filed by men who allege they were molested as youngsters by scout leaders. The case is proceeding slowly in federal bankruptcy court as lawyers negotiate the creation of a trust fund for victims that will likely entail hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions from the BSA and its 252 local councils.

To provide those funds, some councils may have to sell cherished camp properties, the BSA’s president and CEO, Roger Mosby, told the AP.

"We understand that this is a difficult and often emotional decision, but in some instances may be a necessary step as we work toward our shared imperatives of equitably compensating survivors and continuing Scouting’s mission." Mosby said in a written reply to AP’s queries.

The pandemic, the membership drop and rising costs of liability insurance have strained BSA finances. A disclosure statement in the bankruptcy case says its gross revenues dropped from $394 million in 2019 to $187 million last year.

In response, the Boy Scouts’ annual youth membership fee will rise from $66 to $72 on August 1. The BSA also says some councils may merge to consolidate resources.

The Girl Scouts have bureaucratic complications of their own. There is ongoing litigation pitting the national headquarters against two of the 111 local councils- based in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Nashville, Tennessee - which refuse to implement a nationwide technology platform.

Despite the varied challenges, Mosby and other Boy Scout officials, as well as the Girl Scouts’ leadership, insist there’s reason for optimism. They say their summer camps are full, special events are sold out, and they’re expecting many thousands of families — some new to scouting, some who left during the pandemic — to sign up now that activities are occurring in-person rather than virtually.

"We knew some girls would take a pause," said Girl Scouts spokeswoman Kelly Gay Pareei. "But as the pandemic goes in the rear-view mirror, we’ve seen a substantial rebound... We feel really good going into the fall recruitment."

Membership in the Boy Scouts’ Longhorn Council, which serves parts of Central and North Texas, dropped by 44% from 2019 to 2020, said its chief executive, Wendy Shaw. But she is buoyed by surging interest this year from families considering their first foray into scouting; the council has scheduled 12 special events for them.

Manny Ramos, chief executive of the BSA’s Seattle-area council, said pandemic-related restrictions on group activities were rigorous in his area — a factor in recruiting only 500 scouts last fall instead of the normal 3,000 or more. To maintain interest, his staff held numerous outdoor activities, including winter camping, and now anticipates a large influx of families who skipped scouting last year.
There was an enormous stink a few years ago about the Boy Scouts allowing openly gay scout leaders. If I recall correctly (and I do) I said to wait for the lawsuits from outraged parents. Confession: I quit the Boy Scouts after my first camping trip. I was still too young for that stuff. I doubt if I was the only kid in the country who was scared off. And I wasn't approached by the scout leader -- it was the other kids.

The Girl Scouts' problem is slightly different, not that I have any idea what goes on in girls' camping trips. But I expected membership to drop about the time they decided to become a branch of Planned Parenthood.

My granddaughter (twelve years old, about the same age I was then) is a member of the Scouts BSA. I'm not sure what the B stands for anymore; it used to be Boy Scouts of America, but they now take both sexes. I was initially against the both sexes idea, but once I thought about it for awhile it made more sense. The idea of tossing a salad of kids approaching or arriving at the stage of sexual curiosity hath its own dangers, but mixed sexes also means mixed leadership. That means they can keep an eye on each other, which I would expect to introduce a safety factor.

#11  Per Task and Purpose:

The Air Force raised some eyebrows on Monday when it announced upcoming changes to its physical training test that would allow airmen to choose their own adventure for demonstrating physical prowess.

The new test, which the service will begin to experiment with in January 2022, will allow airmen to choose between running, shuttle run sprints, and walking for the aerobic portion of the test. Shuttle run sprints involve sprinting back and forth between two markers about 25 meters apart. They could then choose between planks and sit-ups for the core strength measure. And for the final portion of the test airmen would be allowed to choose between push-ups and raised-hand push-ups.

Who Killed Ashli Babbitt - A New Theory Emerges
[Spectator] Who shot Ashli Babbitt, the pro-Trump Air Force veteran who was killed by police during the January 6 riot at the US Capitol building? The American people were told that it was a Capitol Police officer who fired the fatal shot. But Cockburn has stumbled across some information that points to a different explanation.

Sources close to and within the intelligence community tell Cockburn that Babbitt was actually shot by a member of then-vice president Mike Pence’s protective detail. The VP’s detail, of course, is provided by US Secret Service, not the Capitol Police. One person asserted to Cockburn over drinks in DC that this is ’basically an open secret’ in the intelligence community.

Law enforcement sources suggested to Cockburn that the Capitol Police Department and Department of Justice have publicly identified the shooter as a Capitol Police officer in order to protect the reputation of the Secret Service. Cockburn also wonders if this isn’t an attempt to protect Pence from further anger or threats from Capitol rioters who wanted him to refuse to certify the results of the election on January

Definitely not what I would expect for the working uniform of either the Capitol police or a personal Secret Service bodyguard — certainly Vice President Pence was never so decorative, and his own bodyguard would want to blend in with his aesthetic.

Could he have been staff for one of the Democratic congresscritters, carrying his personal weapon where it ought not to have been, and using it in an untrained moment of overexcitement? That would explain why he is being protected, when they’ve never cared about building Security or Secret Service staffers before.

‘I Won't Be Pathologized For Being White': Man Resigns, Shreds School District Over ‘White Privilege' Training
[BPR] An after-school coordinator at a New Hampshire elementary school has gone viral for resigning over the school’s embrace of anti-white critical race theory propaganda.

In a public resignation letter released Monday on Twitter, former Northwest Elementary after-school program coordinator Daniel Concannon, 40, accused his school district of having endorsed the "dehumanization and hatred of White people, as evidenced by their dissemination of the imbecilic ’White Privilege’ curriculum."

In the letter, he purposefully referred to the Manchester School District as "The Frankfurt School." It was a reference to the school responsible for creating contemporary Marxism, which is believed to be at the root of CRT.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, back in March Concannon sued the district, alleging that their mandatory "white privilege" training amounted to harassment. The district responded at the time by claiming the "training" wasn’t mandatory but still defending it.

"The District embraces this process of critical thinking, not necessarily the ideas or opinions of individual authors," district officials reportedly said.

The training was part of "an equity policy to help employees develop critical racial, ethnic and cultural competence," according to the Union Leader.

But according to Concannon, the curriculum, which he claimed was developed by the discredited SPLC, is nothing but an anti-white manifesto.

"I won’t be pathologized for being White. I won’t be pathologized for being normal," he declared in his resignation tweet Tuesday.

Look:

My name is Daniel Concannon.

Attached is my resignation from Manchester School District in response to their "White Privilege" training.

I won’t be pathologized for being White.
I won’t be pathologized for being normal.

Neither should you. pic.twitter.com/sqclu5K95t

— Daniel Concannon — KeepNHGranite (@KeepNHGranite) June 28, 2021

In addition to the tweet, he also posted his thoughts on the critical race theory madness sweeping the country. Echoing the arguments from conservatives, he noted that CRT has nothing to do with actual "diversity" and "inclusion."

"These people do not seek ’diversity,’ they do not seek ’equity,’ they do not seek ’inclusion.’ They do not seek whatever the latest stupid word they’ve made up to clobber our psyches with pretends to stand for. They seek the erasure of our past, our present and our future," he wrote.

"These people love to rail about ’institutional power’ without the slightest acknowledgment of the irony that they are the institutional power. Institutional power is all that they have. They are otherwise weak — physically and spiritually," he added.

Allison Mack is sentenced to just three years in prison for recruiting sex slaves
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Allison Mack was sentenced on Wednesday to three years in prison for her role as a NXIVM slave master for Keith Raniere

  • She was also ordered to pay a $20,000 fine

  • Mack had pleaded guilty in 2019 to charges she blackmailed at least two women into becoming sex slaves for Raniere

  • She renounced Raniere during her sentencing, saying she was filled with 'remorse and guilt

  • She had been facing up to 17 years in prison and had urged the judge to sentence her only to home confinement

  • Mack, who was once part of Raniere's inner circle, had given prosecutors information that helped bolster their case against him

  • She joined NXIVM back in 2006 before becoming a 'slave master' around 2016

Ohio Legislature Passes Bill To Ban Covid-19 Vaccine Mandates At Schools, Universitiess
[EpochTimes] Ohio lawmakers approved a bill that would ban public schools and universities from requiring students and staff to receive any COVID-19 vaccine that hasn’t received full approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

House Bill 244, approved on Monday, would also prohibit the institutions from discriminating against an individual who has not received a vaccine for COVID-19, the disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus.

Such forms of discrimination would include requiring a person to participate in activities that are different from what a vaccinated person would be required to participate in, according to the bill text (pdf).

It passed along party lines in the Ohio Senate, 24-8, and the Ohio House, 61-34.

None of the vaccines currently being administered in the United States have been fully approved by the FDA to-date. All three are being used under emergency authorization, and it’s unclear when regulators will make a decision. Two of the vaccines authorized for emergency use in the United States require two doses.

“The simple fact is that decision needs to be decided by their parents and by their family,” said state Senate President Matt Huffman, a Republican, arguing that young adults aren’t as severely impacted by the virus as others.

The legislation now heads to Gov. Mike DeWine’s desk. According to NBC4, DeWine has declined to comment on whether he would veto or sign the bill.

There is a long tradition in America of unvaccinated little darlings getting the diseases they refused protection for, g(r)omgoru. Usually it’s meningitis — discovered after they died before getting to a doctor— though in recent years it’s been childhood diseases like measles and whooping cough. The legislature need only look at precedent, which places the liability on the shoulders of those who choose not to be vaccinated.
