[Western Journal] After fatally stabbing a man who attacked him behind the counter of the bodega deli, charges against Harlem bodega worker Jose Alba have been dropped.
The Manhattan district attorney asked the judge to dismiss murder charges against Alba who said he was acting in self defense, the Daily News reported.
According to surveillance footage, a man named Austin Simon went behind the counter inside the Blue Moon Bodega on July 1 and began to attack the 61-year-old Alba.
Alba then stabbed Simon.
The confrontation began after Alba pulled a snack out of Simon’s daughter’s hand because Simon’s girlfriend was unable to purchase it since her Electronic Benefit Transfer card was not working, Fox News reported.
The girlfriend then shouted expletives at the Alba and said her boyfriend would be back to "f** you up."
A few moments later, Simon came into the store, went behind the counter, shoved Alba against a wall of shelving and grabbed him by the collar to lift him out of a chair and force him out of the employees-only area, prosecutors said.

So Bragg yields to pressure from another 'mob' - the 'good guys'. No such thing as enforcing the law or protecting the people - just whatever way the wind blows.
Scum.

^^You are correct. When I was there in the early 1990's on a 'deep tour' with an Electrical Group, these were still the old Westinghouse transformers from the 1930's that had been upgraded with cooling fans and to use the newer non-carcinogenic insulating oil.
Each of the 17 turbine generators produces roughly 16,500 Volts per phase. The 2,500 KVA larger single-phase transformers (there are 2 smaller ones for plant operations) step that up to 500,000 volts for transmission.

The whole southwest grid is overstressed. With Lake Mead low, the station generators and systems have to work harder as there's a lower water flow through the turbines. That heats everything up.

[CNBC] Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon said Monday that inflation is deeply embedded in the global economy and it’s unclear whether the situation will improve later this year.
"We see inflation deeply entrenched in the economy, and what’s unusual about this particular period is that both demand and supply are being affected by exogenous events, namely the pandemic and the war on Ukraine," Solomon told analysts during a call to discuss second-quarter results.
Solomon, who leads one of Wall Street’s top advisors to corporations, then laid out one of the central debates occurring in markets right now: It is known that inflation is at multidecade highs; but how long will it persist?
"My dialogue with CEOs operating big global businesses, they tell me that they continue to see persistent inflation in their supply chains," Solomon said. "Our economists meanwhile say there are signs that inflation will move lower in the second half of the year. The answer is uncertain and we will all be watching it very closely."
As central banks around the world continue to tighten financial conditions to combat inflation, already volatile markets across asset classes will remain choppy, he said. Very high inflation, 8-12% I think will last until next year. Then just high inflation of 5-7% will be the new normal for several years. With supply lines still in flux, oil markets hit, food shortages, etc. inflation is just gonna be a fact of life for most of the decade.

Blinding flash of the obvious... Global energy drives the world economy, slow production or restrict future product causes a giant economic impact across every commodity. We, the US, is one of the largest providers of energy, with it cut or restricted the markets respond. oil prices tie to every commodity and service. The rise in energy was such a spike it drove this recession. Getting out of it is easy, but he is right, it will take a year or two to recover.

[Shafaq News] Security authorities in Saladin deployed reinforcements in the outskirts of the Toloul al-Baj sub-district to secure the Baghdad-djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... road, a local official reported on Monday.
The administrator of Toloul al-Baj, Hatem al-Shammari, told Shafaq News Agency that the new reinforcements at the first defense line in northern Saladin aim to curb ISIS movements near the sub-district.
"Everything is under control," he said, "all the security gaps have been plugged. A new security plan is pending execution to secure the sub-district and the vital Baghdad-Mosul road. The Tribal Mobilization is also involved along with the other formations."
Earlier this month, al-Shammari warned via Shafaq News that the security gaps in Toloul al-Baj might jeopardize the Baghdad-Mosul vital road.

[NPASyria] Ottoman Turkish forces targeted on Monday the village of al-Muhsinli, north of the city of Manbij in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo Governorate, northern Syria.
The media center of Manbij Military Council (MMC), affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), posted that the Ottoman Turkish forces randomly shelled the populated village of al-Muhsinli with nine mortar and artillery shells, resulting in material damage.
The Ottoman Turkish shelling coincides with military reinforcements of the Syrian government forces in Manbij.
The reinforcements come following an understanding between the SDF and the Syrian government forces to deploy Syrian soldiers on the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... to avoid any potential Ottoman Turkish invasion of northern Syria.
Turkey’s President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important... has recently announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.
On July 1, Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.
The Russian forces also established a stationing post in al-Hussan village, northeast of Manbij, near the front lines in al-Hoshariya village.
The SDF liberated Manbij from ISIS rule in 2016, and the city is now under the control of the SDF-aligned Manbij Military Council (MMC).
[NPASyria] On Monday morning, a Turkish drone attacked the town of Tel Rifaat in the northern countryside of Aleppo Governorate, without reports on casualties.
The Turkish drone targeted the railway near a post of the Military Security Branch of the Syrian government forces, a military source told North Press.
The town of Tel Rifaat, which is 35 km to the north of the city of Aleppo, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300,000 of the original inhabitants.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.
On July 1, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.
“I always say that we can start [the incursion] at any moment at night. We should not worry and rush, especially since we are working in the area,” Erdogan told reporters after returning from the NATO summit in Madrid.
Earlier in July, a Turkish drone attacked a military post of the government forces in Tel Rifaat, causing the injury of two soldiers, as well as material damage.
Following the attack, a Russian patrol and officers of the government forces inspected the area targeted by the Turkish drone.
Eyewitnesses told North Press that the Russian patrol that inspected the targeted area consisted of armored vehicles and some soldiers.

[NPASyria] On Monday, Russian Military Police (MP) and Ottoman Turkish forces conducted a joint military patrol in the eastern countryside of Kobani, a city north Syria.
This is the 106th patrol between the two forces in the region since the signing of the Russian-Ottoman Turkish ceasefire agreement.
In October 2019, following a Ottoman Turkish military operation in areas of northeast Syria which resulted in the occupation of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) north of Hasakah, the Ottoman Turkish president signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.
The ceasefire agreements stipulating halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 30 kilometers in depth away from the Ottoman Turkish border in addition to conducting joint patrols with Russia in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.
The 106th joint patrol comes a day before the trilateral summit that will bring presidents of Russia, Iran ...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence... and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... together in Tehran.
During the summit, the three parties will touch on the Syrian issue.
The patrol, which consisted of eight Russian and Ottoman Turkish military vehicles, set off from the village of Ashma, 20 kilometers west of Kobani.
It roamed the villages of Charqli Fouqani, Jebnah, Bayadah reaching the village of Zor Maghar, which is situated on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, the last village west of Kobani.
The patrol headed to the east passing by the following villages: Bayadah, Jebnah, Mishko, Binder, Qaraqoy Tahtani, Qola, and Susan, reaching to a checkpoint of Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) near radio area west of Kobani.
The patrol then immediately returned to the starting point in the village of Ashma, passing through the villages of Seftek, Boban, Khorkhoy, Dikmadash, Qeran, Charqli Fouqani.
The Ottoman Turkish military vehicles returned to Turkey through the gate near Ashma, while the Russian military vehicles returned to their position near the town of Sirrin south of Kobani.
On July 4, the 105th Russian-Ottoman Turkish patrol in the region was conducted in the eastern countryside of Kobani.

[NPASyria] Syrian Democratic forces (SDF) announced on Monday thwarting terrorist operations that were planned to target military forces and employees working for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
The SDF said on its official website that counter-terrorism unites monitored the movements and contacts of a holy warrior of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... Organization (ISIS) north of Deir ez-Zor, who was planning to target SDF fighters and AANES employees.
The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily.
The operation followed surveillance processes, as the SDF fighters raided the terrorist’s house, arrested him and confiscated his possessions including weapons and communication equipment, according to the SDF website.
The SDF counter-terrorism unites transmitted the ISIS agent to investigation based on video and audio evidences, to be fairly punished.
Recently, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has witnessed an increase in cases of liquidation, targeting members of the SDF, employees of the AANES, tribal leaders and civilians, despite the intensive security operations launched by the SDF.
On July 14, the SDF announced the arrest of an ISIS holy warrior and the killing of another during a security operation with the support of the US-led Global Coalition east of Deir ez-Zor.

[NPASyria] Four former Lions of Islam of Syrian opposition armed factions were rubbed out on Monday by a former leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... (HTS), in the western countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
A Local source told North Press that "Ahmad al-Hayek, Khedr al-Hayek, Muhammad Hussein al-Rawashdah, and a fourth named Abu Muthanna were shot and killed by a former leader of the HTS, after he invited them to his house on the road between the towns of Tafas and al-Yadudah, west of Daraa."
"The leader who killed them is called Abu Obeida. He hails from the city of al-Sheikh Maskin in the countryside of Daraa, but he has lived for years near the town of al-Yadudah," the source added.
"The four young men hailed from the town of Tafas in the western countryside of Daraa and were former members of the opposition factions," the source said.
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of security chaos, as it witnesses murders and thefts on a daily basis, despite the government’s intensive presence in its towns and villages.
[NPASyria] The de-escalation zone in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib, northwest Syria, continued to witness on Monday mutual shelling between the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions, known as the National Army (SNA), and the Syrian government forces on various axes.
According to what opposition sources told North Press, the government forces, using dozens of artillery shells and rockets, targeted opposition positions in the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Kansafra, Benin, Ruweiha and Ma’rblit in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib.
The shelling also targeted positions in the villages and towns of Tuqad, Sheikh Suleiman, Kafr Taal, Kafr Amma and the outskirts of Kafr Nouran in Aleppo western countryside.
Meanwhile, ...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce... military sources of the National Front for Liberation told North Press that "al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted with heavy artillery shells and rockets the positions of the government forces in the villages of Hayer Derkil and Urum al-Sughra, west of Aleppo."
The areas in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the SNA factions and the government forces, despite being part of the ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... in March 2020, which stipulates a halt of military action in Idlib.
The mutual shelling, that is escalated during the past few days, came after the announcement of the SNA to start a new military operation against the Syrian government forces in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib after it has been stopped for two years.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subjected to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual shelling despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
In March 2020, Russia and Turkey reached an agreement in Moscow that stipulated a ceasefire, the establishment of a safe corridor, and the conduct of joint patrols on the M4/Aleppo-Latakia Highway.
Military sources in Syrian opposition said that the government forces targeted the villages of Tuqad, Sheikh Suleiman, Maklabis, al-Habata, Blanta, Tedil, Kafr Ta’al, Kafr Nouran, and the vicinity of Regiment 46, west of Aleppo, with about 100 missiles and artillery shells.
The shelling of the aforementioned areas coincided with continuous shelling that have started since Sunday’s morning on the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Kansafra, al-Ruwaiha, Benin, and the outskirts of al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, in addition to the town of Ma’arat al-Naasan, east of Idlib, according to the sources.
Military sources of National Front for Liberation, operates under the umbrella of the SNA, said that al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted posts of the government forces in the Regiment 46 and the towns of Urum al-Kubra, Miznaz, and the villages of Urum al-Sughra, Bala, and Basratun, west of Aleppo, with dozens of artillery shells.
The SNA, during less than 24 hours, thwarted a progress operation of the government forces in Maklabis area, west of Aleppo, according to the sources.
Although the Syrian government forces did not report any casualties during the unsuccessful progress operation, the sources of the National Front for Liberation claimed that several members of the Syrian government forces were killed and wounded.
[NPASyria] Fierce festivities erupted on Monday between two groups of Ottoman Turkish-backed Sultan Murad faction in the village of Hawar Kilis, adjacent to the Ottoman Turkish border, near the city of Azaz, north of Aleppo.
The Sultan Murad faction is one of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).
A local source told North Press that brutal festivities, using light weapons, took place between two groups affiliated with Sultan Murad following a quarrel.
"The cause of the festivities is yet to be known," the source said.
"The hostilities caused a state of fear and panic among the residents of the area as a result of indiscriminate shooting," he added.
The town of Hawar Kilis is considered a military zone because it contains headquarters of a number of Ottoman Turkish-backed factions, most notably Sultan Murad, the Hamza Division and Sultan Suleiman Shah, also known as al-Amshat.
The salaries of most of the SNA gunnies come through a military crossing located north of Hawar Kilis on the border with the Ottoman Turkish state of Kilis. The crossing is also used by the leaders of the SNA factions to move between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... and Syria, according to the source.
The SNA-held areas witness a state of insecurity, accompanied by explosions and continuous infighting, amid inability of the factions to hold it under control.
[NPASyria] One day before a trilateral summit that will bring presidents of Russia, Iran ...They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... together, the Syrian Army continues to reinforce its positions in Syrian north in tandem with sending intensive reinforcements by Ottoman Turkish forces and their affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions.
The trilateral summit, in the Iranian capital Tehran, will touch on the Syrian issue and the Ottoman Turkish potential military operation against Syria’s north in particular.
Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat.
On July 1, Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.
"I always say that we can start [the incursion] at any moment at night. We should not worry and rush, especially since we are working in the area," Erdogan told news hounds after returning from the NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all.... summit in Madrid.
On Saturday, the Syrian army sent military reinforcements to Manbij through al-Tayha crossing, southwest of the city.
An eyewitness from Abu Kahf village, 30 km north of Manbij, told North Press that eight vehicles loaded with two field artillery, rocket launchers, ammunition and personnel entered from al-Tayha crossing and headed towards the front lines in Manbij.
The reinforcements come within the framework of recent understandings between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government, with Russian guarantee, to deploy government forces along the front lines extending from al-Hoshariya village, northeast of Manbij, to al-Arima district, west of Manbij.
Hours later, the government forces brought in reinforcements to the border strip with Turkey in the countryside of Derbasiyah north of Hasakah, according to pro-government al-Watan Newspaper.
Media outlets close to the government see that these reinforcements can help halt the Ottoman Turkish escalation and threats since they are deployed along the border strip.
On July 15, the SDF Commander in Chief, Mazloum Abdi, said in a presser, that they "accepted that the Syrian Army fortifies its posts in Kobani, Manbij and border areas in order to carry out its task to protect Syrian border, and we will do what is needed to avoid war against our areas."
Following the Ottoman Turkish incursion (Peace Spring) in October 2019, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US stipulating ceasing all hostilities and the withdrawal of the SDF 32 km away from the Ottoman Turkish border.
The SDF did withdrew from the border areas according to the agreement, but Turkey continues targeting the area.
The Syrian government has deployed soldiers in some areas in northeast Syria since 2019 following the agreements.
Turkey also sends more forces to the Syrian territory, especially to both the northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo, in preparation for the new invasion.
On July 8, North Press Agency monitored the entry of a Ottoman Turkish military convoy through al-Rai crossing in the northern countryside of Aleppo, heading towards the city of al-Bab east of Aleppo.
Two days earlier, Turkey sent reinforcements to Ottoman Turkish-backed Sultan Murad faction stationed in Hawar Kilis region on Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border north of Azaz.
Al-Watan Newspaper noted that both Russia and the Syrian government, through deploying forces in broader swaths on contact lines with Turkey, aim at defusing the Ottoman Turkish military escalation and also curbing the Ottoman Turkish president’s false pretenses to launch an aggression to bite new Syrian parts.
These moves come in light of preparations by Russian and Ottoman Turkish delegations to head to Iran, where a presidential summit will be held, bringing together the three countries to discuss the Syrian issue.
During the summit, the Russian president and his Ottoman Turkish counterpart will held a series of meetings.
Statements released by Iranian, Russian and Ottoman Turkish officials indicate that the three presidents will mainly focus on the Syrian issue, a step that was successively discussed in the past the last of which was in July 2020.
"Ottoman Turkish military operation in Syria will be the most important issue between Turkey and Iran in the summit." Ottoman Turkish daily newspaper Sabah said two days ago.
As Syrian north and northeast continue to witness intensive military presence by Syrian government and Turkey, Syrians place their hopes in Tehran’s summit, through which Turkey seeks to invade Tel Rifaat and Manbij.

Putin tells US thieves to stop ‘looting’ Syria
Washington needs to stop “stealing” Syrian oil and lift its sanctions against Damascus
American troops must leave voluntarily the territory east of the Euphrates river and “stop robbing the Syrian state, the Syrian people, exporting oil illegally,” I repeat they must leave.
Putin told reporters on Tuesday evening, when asked if the USA military don’t voluntarily leave, his reply was: we will make them… He said this was a “common position” of Russia, Iran and Turkey.

Syria probaby doesn't have the forces to deal with the ISIS contingent in their country. Letting Iran and Turkish troops deal with ISIS doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

Syria doesn’t have enough oil to be worth robbing, unlike Iraq, where we also did not help ourselves to the oil.
Perhaps President Putin means Turkey, which has been allowing its “Syrian National Army” run roughshod over Syrian citizens.

Letting Iran and Turkish troops deal with ISIS doesn't seem like such a bad idea.
Iran would no doubt take the hint reasonably seriously if t hey saw no way of exploiting them for their own purposes, but Turkey has used and supported ISIS in Syria in the past against the Assad government. For that matter, some unknown part of the so-called Syrian National Army that Turkey employs along the border is made up of old ISIS turbans left homeless after the Caliphate fell, and Turkey knows it.
[NPASyria] Since the beginning of this year, the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. Organization (ISIS) has transformed from launching individual attacks to mass ones, and is awaiting the Ottoman Turkish invasion of northern Syria, said Zana Omar, a Qamishli-based journalist, on Monday.
This was turned out during ISIS attack on al-Sina’a prison in the city of Hasakah early in January, and during planning several attacks in Hawl Camp, Omar added.
Since the beginning of 2022, the camp management has registered 29 murder cases for 12 Syrians, among them a paramedic for the Kurdish Red Islamic Thingy (KRC), 14 Iraqi refugees who constitute more than half of the camp’s population, 3 unidentified corps, and 15 failed attempt ...Curses! Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians and 8.254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.
Omar believes that ISIS has made plans to release 11.000 members and families of the terrorist organization, including people called Jihad Sheikhs, who participated in critical operations in Europe, the Gulf States and the Arab countries during the years of the organization’s control.
If The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... launches its military operation, the SDF’s priorities in fighting ISIS will change, as it will shift to the stage of defending and repelling Ottoman Turkish attacks, Omar noted.
He described that ISIS is awaiting the Ottoman Turkish operation to escape the security pressure imposed by the SDF and to take advantage of the security gap in the deserts of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Hasakah.
Last month, the Syrian Desert returned to the conflict forefront again between ISIS sleeper cells on one hand and the Syrian government forces along with Iranian-backed militias on the other.
In June, ISIS carried out about 11 operations in the Syrian Desert, during which 42 soldiers of the government forces were killed and 31 others were maimed to varying degrees, in addition to the death of a civilian and the injury of 14 others with varying injuries, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Omar pointed out that Deir-ez-Zor desert poses the greatest danger, since it is open to al-Anbar desert in Iraq, where ISIS sleeper cells are present. This brings back the fears of 2014 scenario and the return of ISIS.
The journalist indicated that the second level of danger lies in the fact that any area "occupied" by Turkey is turned into a safe haven for ISIS members and leaders, through the support they get from the so-called Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).
"Al-Baghdadi and Abu Ibrahim al-Qurashi appeared in those areas, and finally Maher al-Aqal, and the list goes on," he added.

More on this story from yesterday. It looks like a normal suicide by cop, long planned.
[IsraelTimes] Police say gunman spent hour in bathroom, possibly assembling rifle, before firing on shoppers, killing three; ’Good Samaritan’ praised for using lethal fire to take out shooter
A 20-year-old man likely assembled a rifle in the bathroom of a suburban Indianapolis shopping mall before shooting five people in the food court, killing three of them before an armed shopper fatally shot him, US authorities said Monday.
Jonathan Sapirman of Greenwood apparently was facing eviction before he shot up the Greenwood Park Mall shortly before it closed Sunday evening, the city’s police chief, James Ison, said at a news conference.

No bets, DarthVader: From deeper in the article:
Sapirman had a juvenile record, including for a fight at school and an incident where he bravely ran away from home, but he had no criminal record as an adult, the chief said.
He said relatives told Sherlocks that Sapirman has been practicing shooting at a gun range, and that records obtained by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed he had frequented the range and bought ammunition there over the past two years.

i would like to no more on the tracking of ammo purchases and tracking range time. Anybody know a range owner who they could ask if they have to report these issues?

I have to show my DL if I go to the range in Daytona. So I'd imagine that sort of record keeping gets snarfed up by ATF. I can't say what ammo reporting is like, but if I pay cash, all they'd have is maybe a surveillance cam image, if that.

So if he had a juvenile record and he was only 20 years old and 18 is when he's considered an adult then he wasn't an adult for very long. Might be a good idea to withhold gun privileges until he's 25 or so to see if he can stay out of trouble for a little longer than just two years.

[IsraelTimes] Army says no soldiers hurt during attempt to arrest wanted man in Tubas; Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... claims responsibility for gunfire; operation comes after brief pause during Biden’s visit
Israeli troops clashed with Paleostinian button men during an early morning raid in the northern West Bank city of Tubas, after an apparent brief pause in military operations amid US President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The nincompoop who dumped Afghanistan. The copier doesdn't exist that could reelect him.... ’s visit to the region.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, as soldiers were attempting to arrest a wanted Paleostinian, several suspects opened fire and others hurled stones and Molotov cocktails.
"IDF soldiers shot up the button men who fired at them, and at key rioters," the military said, adding that "hits were identified."
Paleostinian media, citing medical sources, said two people were hurt by the Israeli gunfire. Their conditions were not immediately clear.
The IDF said no soldiers were hurt in the incident. It was not clear if the target of the raid was arrested.
A local wing of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad terror group grabbed credit for the gunfire. A statement claimed members of the group managed to damage Israeli military vehicles as they entered the city.
A video circulating on social media showed an army jeep being hit by a Molotov cocktail.
Sunday’s raid came following a brief pause in arrest operations in the West Bank, amid Biden’s two-day trip that included meetings with Israeli leaders and a visit to East Jerusalem and the West Bank. The US president departed from the country on Friday.
It was thought the IDF wished to avoid any major confrontation during the visit.
The shooting in Tubas also followed an uptick in attacks in the northern West Bank in recent weeks.
Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
His interview questions are in bold typeface.
[ColonelCassad] Just now I answered questions during the NWO for the military commissar Kotenok's channel. About the course of the NWO
After Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspected the headquarters of the groupings, the RF Armed Forces intensified strikes against the Armed Forces of Ukraine and enemy infrastructure. Is the "operational pause" over or never happened?
- The operation, in fact, did not stop. The regrouping of troops or the withdrawal of individual formations for rest does not mean that offensive operations or missile strikes against enemy troops and infrastructure have ceased.
In the last week, we have seen how the focus of strikes has shifted to the destruction of concentrations of troops and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the destruction of artillery missile systems, which can be interpreted as a "softening" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass before the upcoming offensive operations on the Seversk-Soledar line and in the Artemovsk region, as well as increasing efforts to move into the Slavic-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
- The pace of progress towards Slavyansk slowed down. What is it connected with?
- The main efforts are now concentrated on breaking through the Seversk-Soledar front in order to provide access to Artemovsk from the north and to Slavyansk from the east. The group advancing on Slavyansk from the northwest is obviously in the phase of replenishment and regrouping after the past battles in the area of the Valley, Bogorodichny and Svyatogorsk. The terrain and large forest areas to the north-west of the city, as well as the line of the Seversky Donets covering Slavyansk from the north, make the offensive difficult.
- The DPR announced the semi-encirclement of Avdievka. When can we expect the blockade of Donetsk to be lifted? What factors facilitate and, conversely, inhibit the process?
- Avdievka is well supplied through Orlovka, and the Avdievka-Konstantinovka highway could not be used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine before after they were kicked out of Novobakhmutovka and Novoselka-2.
The assault on Avdievka from Kamenka and the industrial zone at this stage does not promise quick results, so here and in the future we will observe a positional front and intensive work of artillery and MLRS from both sides. The main problem is that the entire Advievka and the adjacent territories have been turned into a solid fortification, a frontal assault on which, for military reasons, is inexpedient.
- The announced counter-offensive of Kyiv still does not begin. Where to wait for the activation of the enemy? What are the manpower reserves of the regime, taking into account the heavy losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass?
- The most probable directions of the enemy's offensive are Krivoy Rog, Nikopol and Zaporozhye (in the direction of Vasilyevka, Tokmak and Pologa).
The ongoing capture of random citizens on the streets, as well as mass cases of desertion from the front, indicate that the declared 1 million people in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a purely propaganda figure. In fact, the total number of people under arms is significantly less.
Nevertheless, work is underway not only to plug holes in the front with poorly trained cannon fodder, but also to prepare more well-coordinated brigades that can be concentrated for an offensive in one of the indicated directions.
Potential forces that are desirable for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for some serious actions - from 5-7 armored personnel carriers to 80-100 guns, MLRS and heavy mortars + several aircraft and helicopters. In addition to the actual organization of such a grouping, an equally important problem for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the problem of secretive concentration of these troops in order to avoid strikes by the RF Armed Forces even before advancing to the lines of attack.
The experience of failed offensives in the area of Gulyaipol and Davydov Brod has shown that the RF Armed Forces have the ability to stop enemy activity with concentrated artillery and air strikes.
- Following the "holy javelin" in Ukraine, the "holy haymars" has already been invented. Attacks on warehouses, headquarters and communications of the Allied Forces are not weakening. What does the tactics look like using the MLRS and OTRK supplied to Kyiv in targeting objects and overcoming air defense? Is there an antidote for the wunderwaffe?
- The United States operates within the framework of the concept of network-centric warfare, hoping to slow down the intensity of their fire impact on the Armed Forces of Ukraine and reduce their offensive potential by strikes against the command and logistics structure of the RF Armed Forces and the armies of the LDNR. The APU here is only performers and a screen. Target designation data is provided by American technical intelligence, as well as agents of the SBU on the ground.
Countermeasures - tracking down and destroying complexes (one has already been destroyed, so that with proper work they are destroyed in the same way as the S-300 complexes, Tochka-U OTRK and Uragan MLRS), as well as the active use of the dispersal of fuel and lubricant depots and ammunition to reduce the effectiveness of such strikes.
The same applies to the issue of protecting command infrastructure facilities. In general, it is necessary to adapt to this tactics of the enemy, since he, obviously, will adhere to it further.
- Are we ready to drag out the conflict in Ukraine and, in fact, does Russia have options other than victory?
- It is quite obvious that the Russian Federation has long been acting within the framework of the concept of a long-term conflict in the framework of the “Syrianization” of the war in Ukraine. The official position on achieving all the goals set by the NWO has not changed since February.
Specific terms, as before, are not indicated - the need for long-term work to achieve the stated goals has already been completely reconciled, and a number of processes to increase the grouping of troops in Ukraine and changes in the military-industrial complex also indicate preparations for a long confrontation with the United States and NATO in Ukraine.
Of course, Russia will strive only for victory, which will not only guarantee its sovereignty, but also provide advantageous positions in the formation of a new world order. In this case, the victory will write off all costs. The absence of a positive result in Ukraine will, in turn, have severe domestic political consequences for the country. This, in fact, is what the United States is betting on, dragging out the war in Ukraine in every possible way and raising the degree of escalation.
- How adequate are the statements that the collective West is running out of stocks of weapons and ammunition for deliveries to Ukraine?
- Supply problems are more of a logistical and production nature. In the long run, with the active production of the necessary range of weapons, they are quite solvable for the US and NATO.
This seems to be a less significant problem for the US than the economic and political costs of the sanctions war against Russia. In the first case, the consequences are exclusively military and Ukraine bears the costs. In the second case, the costs hit directly those establishment groups that unleashed the war.
- When will the Polish factor "shoot" in the Ukrainian theater of operations and how is this connected with the situation on the border with Belarus, Kaliningrad and the Baltic states?
- According to the data of the SVR, Poland has not abandoned its plans to occupy Western Ukraine and continues to actively build up its military capabilities by increasing the size of the army (the plans for increasing it increased to 400,000 people) and re-equipping with American weapons.
The build-up of Poland's military capabilities creates additional challenges for the Russian grouping in Kaliningrad and complicates the configuration of any conflict around the "Polish Corridor" in the event of a cessation of transit to Kaliningrad.
Poland in the current realities is a long-term threat to Russia, in the same sense in which the “Remediation regime” in Poland was a threat to the USSR from 1922 to 1939. In those years, the Polish General Staff directly pointed out that "the dismemberment of Russia lies at the heart of Polish policy in the East." Now the goals of Poland are exactly the same. The revival of the Eastern European hyena in the same role is another consequence of the criminal actions of Gorbachev and Yeltsin, which we will have to deal with in the coming years and decades.
[EpochTimes] Washington’s mayor is criticizing two border states for busing illegal immigrants to the nation’s capital, which bills itself as a sanctuary city.
For months, Texas and Arizona authorities have been offering free rides to illegal aliens who have claimed asylum, citing a lack of resources in dealing with the immigrants and the hope that sending them to Washington will help convince President Joe Biden to increase immigration enforcement amid a record number of arrests at the border.
But Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, who is a Democrat, isn’t on board.
“This is a very significant issue. We have, for sure, called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses. We think they’re largely asylum-seekers who are going to final destinations that are not Washington, D.C.,” she said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on July 17.
“I worked with the White House to make sure that FEMA provided a grant to a local organization that is providing services to folks. But I fear that they’re being tricked into nationwide bus trips when their final destinations are places all over the United States of America.”
Ranae Eze, press secretary for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, told The Epoch Times via email that “the only lie is the Biden Administration telling the American people that our border is closed.”
“With our nation’s capital now experiencing a fraction of the disaster created by President Biden’s reckless open border policies that our state faces every single day, maybe he’ll finally do his job and secure the border,” she wrote.
Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals aren't just for the Left. In this case, #4: Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, another Republican, wrote on Twitter: “Welcome to our world, @MayorBowser. Now work with your party, your Congress, and your President to do something about it.”
COMPLAINTS
Thousands of illegal aliens have been sent to Washington from the two states this year, beginning in April. Getting on the buses is a choice, according to officials in the states. But some of the immigrants complained to WUSA-TV that promises made by officials before getting on the buses weren’t fulfilled.
Ana Karina Arce Polano, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, told the broadcaster that she was told her family would be transported to Colorado via Washington, but that they didn’t end up being offered transportation to Colorado.
“We arrived here with faith to give them a better life, and it turns out that we do not even have a place to sleep and no way to get where we want to go,” Polano said.
Another illegal alien said she was told that her family would be given a ride to Chicago after arriving in Washington, but that hasn’t happened.
“If anyone is being misled, we certainly want to know about it,” Ducey spokesman CJ Karamargin told WUSA-TV.
Sister Sharlet Wagner, executive director of the Catholic Charities-run Newcomer Network, told NTD previously that most of the illegal immigrants were traveling to places beyond Washington.
“Most of them do have family or friends in the place where they really want to go. We’re happy to help them if they want to stay here. Most are choosing to move on,” she said.
Federal authorities have said that states aren’t “adequately coordinating” with them or local authorities. They also said that most immigrants who aren’t expelled via Title 42, a pandemic-era order, are released into the U.S. interior with notices to appear in court.
A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesman told The Epoch Times, “Through its Southwest Border Coordination Center, DHS is executing carefully designed plans to manage the processing and transport of noncitizens arriving at the border.”
So are any of the illegals sleeping on the Congressional House steps or panhandling LSD's for $$$$$ yet? Has there been an increase in certain problems that are normally associated with massive influx of Illegals to a given area?
Also noting "...provided a grant to a local organization that is providing services to folks..."
Anyone tracking the % of $$$ that it gets to the Illegals, vs. the % of $$$$ deemed an Admin fee, routed back to LSD pockets & campaign funds?
[Rudaw] Two Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed during intense fighting in the Kurdistan Region, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... ’s defense ministry confirmed on Sunday raising the corpse count among Ankara’s fighters to over 35 since the launch of its most recent military offensive in Duhok.
Ankara said the two soldiers were killed during festivities with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), identifying them as Selahattin Taskin and Omer Faruk Civelek.
Turkey launched its latest operation dubbed Operation Claw-Clock on April 18 targeting PKK hideouts in the mountainous areas of Metina, Zap, Avashin, and Basyan in Duhok province.
Ankara has lost at least 39 of its soldiers since the start of the operation, according to numbers published by the Ottoman Turkish defense ministry.
However, nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... the People's Defense Forces (HPG), the armed wing of the PKK, claimed on Friday that 1,582 Ottoman Turkish soldiers were "punished," and 217 others were maimed from April 14 to July 14.
Both sides often release exaggerated corpse counts of the other. The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry claims "neutralizing" PKK fighters daily on its Twitter account, a term it uses to imply surrenders, killings, or capturing.
The PKK often announces its casualties late. On Sunday it confirmed the death of two of its fighters killed in Zap during festivities with Turkey on June 14.
Operation Claw-Lock is the fourth stage of Ankara’s Claw operations against the PKK in the Kurdistan Region, with the first stage starting in 2019.

[KhaamaPress] Local sources in the northern Afghan province of Samangan say that Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... forces are still searching homes door to door in Aybak, the province’s capital. Additionally, 25 young people are said to have been arrested as a result of these searches, according to some domestic news sources.
On Sunday, July 17, the Taliban reportedly began house-to-house searches in various areas of Aybak city and carried them out until late at night, with 25 young individuals reportedly detained during these searches.
According to sources, a door-to-door search was resumed this morning in the Karte Sulha neighborhood, which is near the city of Aybak.
This is despite the fact that the Taliban had already searched people’s houses in Kabul calling it a "search and clear" operation, in the capital of Afghanistan.
Regarding the search of people’s houses in Samangan, the local Taliban authorities have not yet made any comment.
Afghans have been terrified by the house searches, which have brought up terrifying memories of previous house searches by previous governments.
The Afghan people have been forthright in posting images and videos of the chaos the Taliban forces have wrought on social media, criticizing what they call "violations of privacy," "intrusive behavior," and "suppressing dissent".

Just in case you're wondering just wtf is being searched for, because the article won't say...
These are essentially police operations. Small time criminals, drug peddlers, thugs and loud mouths, rapists and 'naughty men'. As we all know, moslems are way more efficient at doing to moslems exactly what they deserve. And they shall. The talibs are trying to establish an administration that looks legit.

Those are far out of their reach, at least the ones who are still active. The good ones who took sides with Massoud and Saleh before the two departed at a goodly pace have become the new resistance. Some of the NRF is still active in Panjshir, in Faryab, in Baghlan. Guerillas. Everyone else mostly made peace with the Taliban even before they'd won. Hell, that's probably the reason they won. Most ex-alliance, ANDSF, they all stand proudly saluting the turbans nowadays. And Taliban made good on promises to some who were influential enough. They're learning politics as they go.
Subversives and spies, yes, there may be many. Aybak though, is a city. Peaceful, what passes for a metropolis in this hellhole, some 80 klicks south east of Mazhar e Sharif. If there are NRF guys and gals here, or some kind of cells left by Massoud still hunkering down in residentials, they're stupid.

The deportees, many of whom fled due to poverty, told TOLOnews that they illegally entered Turkey to seek employment.

[BenarNews] Bangladesh police said Monday they had arrested an ARSA rebel commander at a Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar who was among the most wanted criminals — bringing to three the number of suspects captured in the area this month with Death Eater links.
Until lately Bangladesh government officials and authorities had long denied allegations about the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA)

It was ARSA’s attack on several police posts in Rakhine in 2017 that caused the Burmese Myanmar army to crack down, driving three quarters of a million Moslem Rohingya back to Bangladesh, from whence they had illegally migrated a century or two earlier...

The Rohingya Salvation Army 🙀 is actually the Harkat ul Yaqin, a minor terrorist group that renamed itself this to appear like some righteous resistance against communal cleansing. They arose independent of the primary Rohingya terror group, the Arakan Army, the militant wing of the ULA (united league of Arakan). Forces of Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, plus armed buddist extremists have been absolutely kill kill killing the Arakan Army and have forced them to police their own people under threat of extermination. But a number of ULA people support and protect the Harkat or the ARSE or whatever. Also, some Sörōs sponsored enn gee ohs have been lobbying, whining in the media, buying influence and spreading bribes faster'n a sociology grad spreads the crabs, in the subcontinent to bail out and assist Rohingya in their survival.
I understand the judeochristian 'Gawd is is love' thingy, and also the modern humanist one, but Rohingya are one of those communities that need to be put Outta their misery, trust me. It's one of those things instances in ye oldè testament teach us.

Try Harakkah al Yaqin. That'd be the Burmese way of saying it. Harkat or Harakkah would be 'action' or 'movement' while Yaqin means faith. That's the real name of these buggers.

From what I am reading in Russian socialist media, most of the casualties to civilians were caused by shrapnel from downed missiles.
The missile strike was on a target in the city center of Vinnitsa.
[ColonelCassad] At least three names of high-ranking Ukrainian Air Force officers liquidated during the attack on the House of Officers in Vinnitsa, where Ukrainian officers discussed with foreign curators the supply of weapons to Ukraine, have already become known.
Colonel Dmitry Burdiko, Acting Chief of Armaments of the Logistics Command of the Ukrainian Air Force.
Head of the Military Scientific Department of the Headquarters of the Ukrainian Air Force Command Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Puzyrenko.
Head of the Armament and Logistics Service of the Ukrainian Air Force, Colonel Oleg Makarchuk.
Of undoubted interest are the personalities of the foreign military who were liquidated at the same meeting, along with high-ranking officers of the Ukrainian Air Force.
Well, of course, the list of those killed in Vinnitsa is clearly not exhausted by these three characters.
Hence, in fact, the scale of the hysteria around Vinnitsa with attempts to switch attention to accidental victims of a downed rocket, and the US warning to American citizens to leave the country, and the resignation of the head of the SBU. This blow really looks like a blow to the decision-making centers. Hence the howl about Vinnitsa and the indirect consequences.
Says Southfront.org:
On July 14th, the Russian Aerospace Forces struck objects in Vinnytsia and the region with high-precision long-range missiles. According to preliminary information, the targets of the attack were military facilities adjacent to the House of Officers of Vinnytsia, where the formation of Ukrainian Territorial Defense units was carried out. Another target was a military unit in the city of Gaisin in the Vinnytsia region, where Ukrainian forces were amassing and military equipment, including armored vehicles and artillery supplied from abroad, was stored.
At least 20 people were killed, including civilians. Three children were reportedly killed. 52 others were wounded.
According to the city police said a total of three missiles hit the downtown. Ukrainian air defenses shot down four other missiles over the city, according to Sergey Borzov, the head of the Vinnitsa Region administration. However, the city administration did not clarify where they fell.
On the first videos and photos a large number of people in military uniforms are clearly visible, including with weapons. This refutes the thesis of the Ukrainian side that the building of the House of Officers was used exclusively as a civilian object.
Judging by the footage from the region, civilians were injured and houses were damaged in different areas by the missiles that were intercepted by Ukrainian air defence systems.
RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan cited a Russian defense official as confirming the attack and saying that the House of Officers was the intended target. Ukraine used it as a temporary shelter for its “Nazi” fighters, the source claimed. In turn, Ukrainian media claimed that the weapons hit an office building in the city center. Reports said they also damaged nearby residential buildings and the building of the House of Military Officers, an institution operated by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, which normally serves as a concert hall.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky decried the incident as the latest atrocity allegedly committed by Russia, claiming on social media that that Russian troops targeted civilians on purpose. According to Zelensky and Ukrainian media, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation struck at the maternity hospital and medical center in Vinnitsa.
However, footage from the area confirms that the main target was the House of Officers used by the Ukrainian military. Under martial law in Ukraine, the building was turned into a temporary accommodation point for Ukrainian troops. According to the footage, Russian missiles hit two wings of the building. Most likely, they were used for military purposes. The central part of the building, where the entertainment hall is located, was also damaged.

[RT] The foreign and defense ministries in Beijing issued harsh statements on Monday condemning the Biden administration’s approval of a new US arms sale to Taiwan. The deal is worth an estimated $108 million and includes armored vehicle parts and technical assistance.
Beijing “demands” that the United States “immediately withdraw the above-mentioned arms sales plan to Taiwan,” as well as halt all other arms deals and cut military ties with the island, said Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Tan Kefei. “Otherwise, the US side will be solely responsible for undermining the relationship between China and the US and the two militaries and the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.”
“The Chinese People's Liberation Army will take all necessary measures to firmly defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and resolutely thwart any form of external interference and separatist attempts for ‘Taiwan independence’,” the colonel added.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin echoed this sentiment, saying that Washington’s arms supplies “gravely undermine China’s sovereignty and security interests, and severely harm China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.”
“China will continue to take resolute and strong measures to firmly defend its sovereignty and security interests,” Wang added.

In the world of military expenditures, $108M is peanuts.
I'd rather it be $108B. That might have an impact.

[NYPOST] The price of oil surged to more than $100 a barrel on Monday after President Biden left Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... over the weekend without winning a commitment from the kingdom to boost output.
Brent crude, the international benchmark, rose by nearly 2.5% to around $103.50 early Monday while West Texas Intermediate, the US benchmark, also spiked nearly 2% to more than $99 a barrel.
The prices shot up on Monday following comments by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, who said the topic of OPEC+ boosting oil supply wasn’t even raised during a summit meeting between Biden and other Arab leaders.
"Traders got one clear message from Biden’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia, during which President Biden spoke to a number of Arab leaders," market analyst Naeem Aslam told the Guardian.

When we drilled here, pumped it out here, refined it here, used it here, oil prices typically were lower, and we had a better handle on our environment concerns.
BUT!
It is something Liberals, Socialists, and Democrats do not understand about running an Economy. It's called "Supply and Demand". Which has always affected price and the surrounding environment.
So the LSD Coup that stole the election not only has failed America, it has failed the world.
By playing environmentalist for votes, it directly adversely affected the world price of crude oil. With which negatively impacted billions of others and actually did greater harm to the environment.
How?
When 2nd & 3rd world nation ramp up uncontrolled drilling, pumping and shipping of oil, it is usually done for the quick $$$$ and with far less environmental concerns.
So if I may remind the LSD's
DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW actually works and is safer for the environment and the economy.
Results
As we have seen, when the economy is stable, the environment is better taken care of.

[Breitbart] A Florida family recently discovered that replacing the battery for their electric vehicle costs more than what they paid for the car.
Avery Siwinski, 17, of St. Petersburg, received a used 2014 Ford Focus Electric from her parents that cost $11,000 and had 60,000 miles on it, WTSP reported.
After six months of driving, the vehicle started having some mechanical issues before it stopped running altogether.
Siwinski’s grandfather, Ray, sought to help her with the car problems, as her father had passed away in June from Stage 4 cancer.
Ray Siwinski realized it was a common problem for this type of vehicle to need its battery replaced.
But when he received a quote from the Ford dealership, he was told it would cost a whopping $14,000 to replace the battery — $3,000 more than what the family paid for the used electric vehicle.
He also noted that the quote did not include "installation and labor costs," WTSP reported.
After more research, Ray discovered that Ford was no longer producing batteries for that type of electric vehicle.
He issued a warning to anyone who was thinking about buying an electric vehicle.
"If you’re buying a new one, you have to realize there is no second-hand market right now because the manufacturers are not supporting the cars," he told WTSP.
Despite the reliability and financial problems electric vehicles may pose for owners, such as what the Siwinksi family faced, the Biden administration is heavily pushing American families to ditch their gas-powered cars for electric ones.
"People from rural to suburban to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV," Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in March, amid record-high gas prices.
A Wall Street Journal reporter recently rented an electric vehicle for a four-day road trip and noticed she was spending more time charging the car than sleeping. The reporter then noted that "[f]umes never smelled so sweet" when filling up her gas-powered vehicle after the conclusion of her trip.

I seems to recall that there was a federal law requiring automotive manufacturers to support their products for some 10 to 25 years from date of manufacture? (Exact length of time varies depending on the web sites I checked in a quick research.)
yes I actually tried to do my homework! (Sometime.)

Since this financial dilemma is the now obvious, I would suggest all parties holding "E-Vehicle" stock shares consider selling them now; EV's do not pay in anyway, recycling, environmentally, nor in plain financial viability; new or used.
Get out while the going is good.

I am not sure in the US, but in Australia, if they have a battery for $14,000 and will replace it then that is considered supporting.

In northern areas with salted roads life of the EV electronics is severely compromised. Also as with any computer systems planned obsolescence is ever present flaw. So you go in for service and you are told sorry your system needs to be replaced with new system. Windows 7,8,9,10,11 to infinity and beyond. That's why mechanics in my area actively look for prior 2000 models. One fellow with 50 year old truck keeps getting people wanting for him to sell his truck (10 times he was approached in one week).

I'd say lots of support for lefty stuff is more "go along get along with the kewel kids" than heartfelt conviction.
So, eliminate the need to be "with it" (looking at all social media "influencers' and the culture of celebrity that sustains them) and the support dwindles rapidly.

[AMERICANGREATNESS] My new book, A Few Bad Men, details the mendacity and mad dishonesty of retired Marine General James "Mad Dog" Mattis. The fact that it was written by a Marine once under his command, whom he betrayed for the sake of politics and getting to slap on another star, says volumes about this once-lionized figure.
It all goes back to an incident in Afghanistan in 2007, and the Court of Inquiry trial of innocent Marines that followed, which Mattis himself instigated.
Lt. Colonel Steve Morgan, USMC (retired) and jury member of the 2008 Marine Special Operations Command’s Court of Inquiry says in the foreword to A Few Bad Men, "This is a case of a perfect storm of toxic leadership."

[AlArabiya] Israel's military said on Monday it had intercepted a small drone that crossed into the country from Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... , adding that it had likely been sent by the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah.
The drone had been tracked by Israel throughout its flight, the military said.
"The Israel Defense Forces will continue to operate in order to prevent any attempt to violate Israeli illusory sovereignty," it said.
Hezbollah has occasionally sent drones into Israeli airspace before, calling them reconnaissance missions.

[REGNUM] Thousands of Shiite Hazaras, including women, children and the elderly, fled the fighting area during fighting in Balhab district of Saripul province in northern Afghanistan, the Shafakna news agency reported .
It is noted that a number of refugees arrived in Mazar-i-Sharif to avoid revenge from the Taliban (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), but the Taliban forces (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) in this city pursue and arrest residents of Balhab .
According to local sources, the Taliban special services broke into a hotel in the center of Mazar-i-Sharif last night, arrested a number of residents of Balhab and took them away in an unknown direction. The motive for these arrests is unknown, but it seems that intelligence is looking for people wounded in the Balkhab war. One of those arrested was wounded in the arm.
It is reported that in one of the hotels in the Mandawi district of the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, Taliban militants (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) demanded to extradite the wounded residents of Balhab, but left it after a physical search, not finding the wounded.
A few days ago, a photo of Maulavi Mehdi Mujahid, a Hazara commander of the Taliban now fighting against them, was published, showing that he and some of his people had made a halt in the mountains.
Local sources report that after the publication of this photo, the Taliban (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) increased their harassment of the residents of Balhab, and also set up several roadblocks on the roads leading to Balhab, and no one is allowed to leave or enter the area.
According to the publication, on July 16, a meeting was held at the Bazarak mosque in this district with the participation of some residents of Balkhab and representatives of the Taliban (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
The meeting discussed the return of Balkhab refugees to their homes, and the Taliban put forward several preconditions. In particular, representatives of the local population must ensure that no action will be taken against the Taliban (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), and local residents will also not have to travel without permission to other provinces.
It is also reported that the Taliban (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) demanded that the Balkhabis confirm the UN data on 27,000 temporarily displaced persons, but, according to open sources, their real number may be more than 50,000 people. All of them currently live in the mountains and gorges and are in a catastrophic situation.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
[ColonelCassad] Alexander Druke, born in 1982, native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He has a higher education in management.
As a US Army reservist, Druke served in the Iraqi campaign with the 942nd Transport Company. He served several years directly in the war zone in Iraq. During the campaign, he held the rank of Sergeant in the US Army. In addition, he moved up the military ladder. During his service in Iraq, Drucke received several US awards and received a special lifetime pension.
Then, until 2022, he allegedly worked as a salesman for various companies in the United States. In February 2022, under the influence of US anti-Russian propaganda, he decided to take part in military operations in Ukraine on the side of Kyiv. Having sufficient financial resources, he bought military equipment at his own expense, including a helmet, body armor, tactical boots, etc.
On April 15, 2022, he arrived on the territory of Ukraine. He crossed the border without hindrance, telling the border guards that he was entering Ukraine with the “purpose of helping the Ukrainian people.”
Then Oleksandr Druke contacted representatives of the so-called Ukrainian Foreign Legion via the Internet. He was told that he was to arrive at the Yavoriv railway station in the Lviv region, where there is a notorious military training ground used to form and combat coordination of foreign mercenaries.
Arriving in Yavoriv, Druke signed a contract with the Ukrainian Foreign Legion to serve in its ranks on a paid basis. He was assigned to a unit that included only foreigners. Most of his colleagues did not have any military experience, which subsequently led to a lack of proper military discipline in the unit. The training of the unit was entrusted to the fighters themselves. At the training camp, Alexander Druke befriended three other US mercenaries.
A week later, he and his friends became disillusioned with the unit's training system and their command. They believed that the Ukrainian Foreign Legion was a large and professional unit, but their aspirations were radically at odds with reality. As a result, they terminated their contracts and left the Foreign Legion at the end of April 2022.
Through their personal contacts in Ukraine, they found another unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, located in the city of Rivne. They signed new contracts with this division. They were given personal weapons (AK-74, caliber 5.45x39), which Alexander learned to use from YouTube videos.
Service in the second unit allegedly also did not suit Alexander and his two friends. A group of mercenaries tried to find another professional unit where their combat skills could be applied to the fullest. They did it in a month. At the beginning of June 2022, the mercenaries were invited to the sabotage and reconnaissance group of foreigners, which operated in the Kharkiv direction.
They arrived in Kharkiv on June 8, 2022, where they were met by German and French citizens who were members of the Baguette tactical group.
The Baguette Group consisted of approximately 12 military personnel, of which about half were French citizens, former or current members of the French Foreign Legion or other units of the French Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces. In addition to Alexander Druke and two of his friends, there were 3 more US citizens in the group.
Upon arrival at the group's location, each of them was given a CZ807 assault rifle, 7 magazines of 30 rounds and a hand grenade. Alexander's partner was also given an RPG-7 with one grenade for a grenade launcher, and Alexander was given two more grenades for an RPG-7. Earlier, during their short service in the Ukrainian Foreign Legion, they were trained in the use of these weapons.
On the evening of June 8, 2022, a briefing was held. They were told that the next day they were to move to a combat position for reconnaissance and mining.
On June 9, 2022, a group of 8 foreign soldiers, accompanied by soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, went on a mission. On the spot, Ukrainian servicemen mined the area, and foreigners were instructed to conduct reconnaissance using drones. In the event that enemy forces were detected, they were to ambush them in order to destroy their military equipment.
During the operation, Druke's partner discovered a Russian tank, which he opened fire on with his RPG-7.
In response, the Russian military opened fire with small arms on the positions of foreign mercenaries. Alexander and his colleague retreated to the forest area, where they hid for a couple of hours until the fighting subsided. After that, they decided to dig out their RPG-7 and the two remaining grenades. Being armed, they moved to the side where the cars in which they arrived were parked.
However, only one of the three cars remained, and that one had already been inspected by Russian servicemen. Alexander and his partner tried to leave the battlefield on their own and left in the direction of the location of their group. Having no maps and not knowing the area, they wandered for 6 hours. As a result, they came to the settlement, which was under the control of the Russian military, where they were captured.
All his appeals to Western governments asking for help or exchange were ignored.
[Dawn] A powerful boom-mobile killed at least five people on Sunday outside a popular hotel in central Somalia, police and witnesses said, in an attack claimed by bully boyz aligned with Al Qaeda.
The blast injured 14 others and destroyed not just the hotel but adjacent buildings in Jowhar about 90 kilometres (56 miles) north of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
Police said the attackers rammed a vehicle packed with explosives into the outer wall of the Nur-doob hotel, popular with state politicians and other local officials.
"They have killed five civilians, among them women working in the hotel and security guards," said Mohammed Ali, a police officer in Jowhar, said.
"Fourteen other people were maimed, some of them inside buildings not even close to the hotel." Al-Shabaab ...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... , a Somalia-based group tied to Al Qaeda, grabbed credit for the attack in a statement posted on a pro-militant website.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, who was endorsed by Somalia’s parliament in June after a recent change of government, sent condolences to the victims and offered to assist those injured.
Ali, the police officer, said the blast "was the biggest ever seen in Jowhar" and caused significant damage to buildings in the city.
Mahad Ibrahim, a Jowhar resident, said the earth-shattering kaboom sent shrapnel flying and clouds of smoke and dust into the air. The force of the shockwave ripped the roof of his house, he added.
"I have never seen such devastation. I saw some dead bodies recovered from under the debris of the part of the hotel that collapsed." Another witness, Abdirahman Shabelow, said bystanders were maimed by blast debris.
"I saw two civilians struck by shrapnel some distance from the hotel... the blast sent a powerful shockwave felt in every house across town." Al-Shabaab have been waging a deadly insurgency in Somalia for over a decade and remain capable of executing major attacks despite a long-running African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... operation to degrade the bad boys.

[NYPOST] What comes after the end of public schools?
Anyone who cares about the education of children should be asking that question. So of course it’s one that the teachers unions don’t want us to discuss.
New York City schools are in trouble. As The Post reported Friday, "the city Department of Education expects to enroll roughly 28,100 fewer students this fall." Enrollment at the city’s regular public schools already fell during the pandemic, and this new projection suggests it’s not improving any time soon.
And New York leads a large pack: Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, Illinois, Oregon, Mississippi and Michigan have all seen serious losses of students departing their public-school systems.
Why? A Gallup poll last week showed only 28% of Americans have "a great deal or a lot" of "confidence in U.S. public schools."
Much of this is tied to long closures during the pandemic. Teachers unions, with people like American Federation of Teachers chief Randi Weingarten leading the charge, pushed hard to keep schools closed for far too long. The shutdowns (and the travesty of remote learning) smashed public trust and it simply isn’t that easy to rebuild. Researchers at the American Enterprise Institute found that the longer a school district stayed remote, the larger its enrollment drop.
But parents tell me they have many reasons for saying "enough."
New York City’s crushing of merit-based admissions under Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio ...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him... pushed people out, as did general woke nonsense replacing academics. Other parents pulled their kids when toddlers stayed masked after the rest of the city had stopped.
Mayor Eric Adams isn’t mincing words: "We have a massive hemorrhaging of students — massive hemorrhaging. We’re in a very dangerous place in the number of students that we are dropping." But the City Council (clearly lobbied by the teachers union) is pushing for schools to retain funding at the old enrollment numbers. That’s crazy: These schools aren’t meeting families’ needs; they shouldn’t be rewarded for this failure with cash.
Especially because money is so often set on fire in the New York City system. Schools Chancellor David Banks and over 50 other staffers attended a conference last week "at a swanky hotel near Universal Studios in Orlando," The Post reports. Kids had to zoom to get an education for over a year, but the grownups need to meet up near theme parks to discuss their education plan? Ridiculous.
Public schools are in a serious downward spiral. The options are fixing them, which hasn’t worked for decades, or letting parents get their kids out.
Public charter schools are, understandably, booming despite getting far less funding. Former Mayor Michael Nanny Mike Bloomberg ...former Republican mayor of New York. He tried to take the credit for Rudy Giuliani's actions in the wake of the 9-11 attacks. He was known as Nanny Bloomberg for his war on 32-ounce Slurpees. Nanny was a candidate for the Dem presidential nomination in 2020. He was born on Valentine's day, 1942, which makes him 80.34636 years old, which is pretty ripe. Mike has lots of money, some of which he spends on grass roots organizations pushing for common sense gun laws along the same lines as his common sense Slurpee regulations.... recently pointed out, "Charter schools educate 7% of all public-school students, yet they receive less than 1% of total federal spending on K-12 education."
On average, charters have higher math and reading scores than traditional public schools; Bloomberg notes, "Research has found that the benefits are especially pronounced for Black, Latino and low-income students."
But the teachers unions hate charters. They hate when parents have choices for their kids.
They also hate outspoken parents fighting for their kids. Weingarten called parents showing up to school board meetings "racists" and has argued that school vouchers, which would give parents a way to get their kids out of failing schools, are "the end of public education as we know it." To which we all should say: good.
Public education shouldn’t exist to serve Weingarten. It’s our money paying for our children to get an education.

[NYPOST] Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... can make nuclear bombs but has not yet chosen whether to build one, a bigwig bragged.
Kamal Kharrazi, a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini... , gave the warning Sunday, a day after President Biden ended his Middle East trip in which he vowed to stop Iran from "acquiring a nuclear weapon."
He told Al Jazeera TV that "Iran is on the nuclear threshold and this is not something secret," according to the Tehran Times.
"Iran has the technical means to produce a nuclear bomb but there has been no decision by Iran to build one," Kharrazi insisted.
Kharrazi said Iran has already been easily "able to enrich uranium up to 60%" — far above a cap of 3.67% under Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

Frightened cats yowl and lash out with their claws, hoping to discourage that which they’re afraid of. Secure cats wait calmly to see if they need do anything about the situation. (I assume it’s similar with dogs, but I haven’t lived with one since my age was a small prime number, so can’t say from observation.)
Given the level of penetration Israel has demonstrated over the decades of Iran’s nuclear program — and the fact that Mossad made off with Iran’s entire research archive a few years ago, it strikes me that Israel probably knows better than Iran the status of Iran’s nuclear bomb program, and where all the parts are located.

The Saudi foreign minister poured cold water over any imminent normalization with Israel, saying this was not a precursor to further steps. He said Riyadh was not part of any discussions on a Gulf-Israeli defense alliance to counter Iran.
Iran will benefit from the new multi-polar world. It has been seeking to ally itself with the Russia and China block with added relations to a neutral India.
All GCC are talking with Iran to normalize their relations.
Based on the statements Iranian nuke test will be conducted very soon.

[NYPOST] Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said Democratic mayors and city councils have "abdicated their responsibility" in fighting crime and addressing mental illness, which has forced his company to shutter stores due to fears over employee safety.
Schultz made the comments in leaked video that was posted to Twitter over the weekend by Ari Hoffman of KVI-AM talk radio based in Seattle.
Last week, Starbucks announced it was closing 16 restaurants in various cities across the country due to what the company said was employee complaints of drug use and violent mostly peaceful crime on the premises.
Schultz said he believes the Seattle-based coffee chain will have to close "many more" locations.
"This is just the beginning," said the interim chief executive, who came back to run the company earlier this year following the retirement of his predecessor, Kevin Johnson.
"There are gonna be many more [store closures]."
The leaked video of Schultz shows him addressing Starbucks employees. He told them that the company was "beginning to close stores that are not unprofitable."
Schultz said he was "shocked" to hear from employees that "one of the primary concerns that our retail partners [baristas] have is their own personal safety."
"And then we heard about the stories that go along with it about what happens in our bathrooms," Schultz said.
In 2018, Starbucks implemented an "open bathrooms" policy after a store manager had two black men arrested for not ordering coffee while sitting down in a Philadelphia location.
Video of the arrest went viral, and Starbucks apologized following intense backlash.
Now the company is giving store managers discretion to alter the policy due to complaints that Starbucks bathrooms are a magnet for drug abusers and homeless people.
In the video leaked over the weekend, Schultz cited the "issues of mental illness, homelessness, and crime."
"Starbucks is a window into America," Schultz said. "We are facing things in which the stores were not built for."
Schultz then took Democrat-run cities to task for not providing solutions.
"In my view, at the local, state, and federal level, these governments across the country and leaders — mayors, governors, and city councils — have abdicated their responsibility in fighting crime and addressing mental illness," he said.
Schultz added: "We are going to have to refine and transform and modernize many of the things we do to meet the needs of our customers in a very changing operating environment in which customer behavior is changing."

^ Which points up the crux of the matter. Leftists do not think through their actions or desires. They begin with the premise they are correct and when negative results ensue, they are unwilling to reflect on how their initial premise was wrong.

covered our current local cause célèbre last night in "The victim speaks." You know Minneapolis is suffering another meltdown if attorney Ben Crump is on the scene. While all the facts behind the hours-long standoff that preceded Tekle Sundberg’s death are not yet clear, Crump wants to agitate the mob.
Also, video from Fox 9 in Minneapolis:

[NaturalNews] European researchers put together a study revealing that government-run Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) information websites are a privacy-invading nightmare — let the public beware!
Entitled "Measuring Web Cookies in Governmental Websites," the paper, which was funded by the European Research Council (ERC), the European Union (EU), and the Spanish government, explains that government websites are basically being used as "a single point of monitoring and tracking for the entire population of a country" using web cookies. More at the link.
Is this unusual? I was under the impression that many private websites do this as well, unless precautions are taken.

Heard on ABC News (I listen so that I know what the low-info folks are being fed) yesterday that there's a 'grassroots' push to nationalize the US fossil fuel industry.
Then there's this little jewel floating around now too, as an alternate to the 'I did that' stickers.

^ In such an environment, each "stakeholder" should have to drill their own wells and refine their own fuel.
Oh, and look how well nationalization has worked out for Venezuela. (Really well if you were one of the commie plunderers. Not so much for the average Venezuelan.)

I admire you for being able to do that. I get so agitated that I have to leave the room.

The only way this makes sense is if the Big Guy gets his 10 percent. But then, if he doesn't know when his handlers might pull the plug on him, he might as well make it pay while he can.

...pre-attack diagnoses of autism, anxiety, depression and significant psychological problems, described as a troubled kid obsessed with guns — the police came to the family home frequently to deal with him. Mr. Cruz was adopted at birth, then his adoptive father died when he was young, followed into the grave by his adoptive mother a few months before he ran amok. So really he was a classic school shooter. Interestingly, his biological sister Danielle Woodard, a decade older, is classified as a habitual violent offender...
the admitted gunman in the 2018 school massacre in Parkland, Fla., kicks off Monday — and jurors will decide whether he’ll be given the death penalty or rot in prison instead.
The 12-person jury in Fort Lauderdale will not weigh whether Cruz is guilty in the case, since the mass shooter in October copped to killing 17 people at his former school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, on Feb. 14, 2018.
Instead, the jury — which took nearly three months to select — will deliberate on whether Cruz should be sentenced to capital punishment or life in prison without parole. Only one juror needs to oppose the death penalty for Cruz to receive the lesser sentence of life behind bars.

If the armed officer on scene had done his job, the taxpayers and the victim families would not be providing room and board like #1 by Dron66046 suggests will likely happen.
Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
[ColonelCassad] 1. Seversk.
Fights for the dominant heights in the city area. Statements about the occupation of Seversk are still ahead of events. It is not the city itself that is of key importance, but the heights around it. The enemy seeks to hold on to them, despite the blows of the RF Armed Forces.
Fights in Serebryanka and Verkhnekamensky, Ivano-Daryevka. The enemy is transferring reserves here from the Slavic-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
2. Soledar.
Fighting at Yakovlevka, Belogorovka and Berestovoye, so far without significant progress towards Soledar itself.
Fighting in the area between Stryapovka and Soledar and on the western outskirts of Novaya Kamenka. The Soledar-Seversk road is under attack by the RF Armed Forces, but is still accessible for the movement of enemy troops.
3. Artemovsk.
Battles near Pokrovsky and Vesela Dolina. Artemovsk is under attack. Strikes - on Krasnaya Gora, Kurdyumovka, Chasov Yar. In the area of Uglegorskaya TPP - no changes.
Kodem and Semigorye are still held by the enemy. From the Artemovsk area, the OTRK of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the western MLRS deliver pinpoint strikes deep into the territory of the LPR (Stakhanov, Alchevsk, Lugansk were attacked). The main targets are fuel depots, ammunition depots, command posts.
The RF Armed Forces are focusing on concentrations of manpower and equipment, artillery and missile systems.
"Friendly fire" shot down our plane (presumably Su-34), the pilots survived.
4. Slavyansk.
Positional battles in the area of the Valley, Sidorov, Prishib. Attacks on the Slavic-Kramatorsk agglomeration. In Konstantinovka, up to 250 foreign mercenaries and a large number of equipment were destroyed.
Western media: after the loss of Seversk and Soledar, the battles for the Slavic-Kramatorsk agglomeration and Artemovsk will be decisive for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The RF Armed Forces are completing their regrouping and are preparing for the start of a major offensive. Shoigu's visit with an inspection to the front is linked precisely with the upcoming big events.
5. Kharkov.
Positional battles in the area of Uda, Upper Passages, Tsupovka, Dementievka, Upper Saltov. In response to attacks on Kazachya Lopan and Kupyansk, the RF Armed Forces attacked Kharkov, Chuguev and the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the northern outskirts of Kharkov.
The RF Armed Forces are intensifying operations in the border areas of the Sumy region, from where the border forces of the Belgorod and Kursk regions were shelled. Attacks on the Sumy region are gradually intensifying.
6. Izyum.
Positional battles in the area of Bolshaya Kamyshevakha and Kurulka are complemented by attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to be active near Balakleya. The enemy is not taking large-scale actions against the flank of the Izyum grouping of the RF Armed Forces due to the impossibility of ensuring stable crossings across the Seversky Donets. Pontoon and makeshift bridges across the river are being destroyed, and DRG activity on the other side is of limited value.
7. Avdievka.
Positional battles near Kamenka, Novoselka-2, Novobakhmutovka and New York. The Avdiivka-Konstantinovka highway was cut in several places, but the enemy could not use it before. The Orlovka-Avdeevka road is under the control of the enemy, so there is no need to talk about the encirclement of Avdeevka. There is no serious progress in the Krasnogorovka area.
Active work continues on enemy artillery systems operating in Donetsk, Makeevka, Gorlovka, Yasinovataya. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, success was achieved in the destruction of cannon artillery and MLRS.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces, in addition to the terrorist shelling of Donetsk, continue to inflict pinpoint strikes with OTRK and heavy MLRS on the command and logistics infrastructure of the RF Armed Forces and the DPR army.
8. Ugledar.
Positional battles continued in the area of Ugledar, Velikaya Noveselovka, Novomikhailovka and in Maryinka. The enemy, after an unsuccessful offensive attempt in the Ugledar region, again went over to the defensive.
9. Zaporozhye.
On the line Kamenskoye-Orekhov-Gulyaipole-Velikaya Novoseloveka without significant changes. Positional battles for the settlements between Gulyaipole and Velikaya Novoselovka continue. The enemy continues to slowly accumulate troops in the area of Zaporozhye, Orekhov and Gulyaipol, trying to create the prerequisites for offensive operations.
Shelling of Novaya Kakhovka and drone raids on Energodar also continue. The RF Armed Forces fire at the enemy in the Zaporozhye region. The State Administration of Zaporozhye calls on residents of the capital of the region to leave the city in order to avoid the role of another "human shield".
10. Nikolaev.
The enemy continues to put pressure on the Krivoy Rog and Nikopol directions in the area of Potemkino and Ivanovka. As before, this direction is the most likely for a potential offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of the United States and NATO to organize an offensive with operational-tactical goals before the beginning of autumn.
The RF Armed Forces are engaged in strengthening defensive positions and systematic strikes against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in potentially threatening areas. On the Nikolaevsky direction without significant changes. Nikolaev is hit almost daily with missile strikes, the losses from which hamper the activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson direction.
Avdievka, along with Opytnye are one of three critical objectives -- Aretemovsk and Slavyansk -- for the Russians.
[RIA Novosti] Troops of the Donetsk People's Republic blocked the road connecting Avdievka and Konstantinovka in two districts, said Eduard Basurin, deputy head of the People's Militia Department of the DPR.
"We have completely blocked the road connecting Avdievka and Konstantinovka in two districts . Avdievka is now covered in a semicircle," he said on Channel One.
Now Avdievka is occupied by Ukrainian security forces, their fortified area is located there.
In addition, for almost eight years, the line of contact between the positions of the Ukrainian army and the forces of the DPR has been near the city . From Avdievka , the Armed Forces of Ukraine are shelling the territory of the republic, namely Yasinovataya and a suburb of Donetsk.
[NYPOST] Sri Lanka’s acting president on Monday declared a state of emergency giving him broad authority amid growing protests demanding his resignation two days before the country’s lawmakers are set to elect a new president.
Ranil Wickremesinghe became acting president on Friday after his predecessor, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, fled abroad on Wednesday and resigned after months-long mass protests over the country’s economic collapse.
Wickremesinghe’s move to impose a state of emergency comes as protests demanding his resignation too have continued in most parts of the country, with some protesters burning his effigy.
Lawmakers who met on Saturday began the process of electing a new leader to serve the rest of the term abandoned by Rajapaksa.
[AlArabiya] Australian teenager Yusuf Zahab is feared dead in a Syrian jail, after he was imprisoned without charges in 2019, the BBC reported on Monday.
The 17-year-old Australian was taken to Syria by his relatives in 2015 and his Sydney-based family has since been "heartbroken and angry," because he had been begging for help for years.
Although it is still unclear how Zahab is suspected to have died, rights groups said in January that he was injured in an ISIS attack on a prison in Syria’s Kurdish-controlled northeast in an attempt to free its imprisoned fighters.
With the support of the US, Kurdish fighters fought the ISIS hard boyz for a week, killing over 180 people in the process.
In voice recordings which Zahab sent to his family at the time, he reportedly said that he "might die at any time," as the fighting continued to intensify. Scared, he told them he had "lost a lot of blood" and that there were no doctors to help him.
According to United Nations ...a formerly good idea gone bad... ’ children’s charity agency UNICEF, Zahab was one of almost 850 children who were detained in 2019 — after the fall of ISIS — in case they posed a security risk.
The teen’s family described him as a happy and compassionate child.
An Australian teenager, who was detained in northeast Syria for contacts with Islamic State Organization (ISIS), died on Monday.
The 17-year-old Yusuf Zahab had caught tuberculosis in the prison, where Syrian and foreign ISIS suspects were held in.
Zahab, who was born in southwest Sydney, Australia, was 11 when he travelled to Syria to live in the newly declared so-called ISIS caliphate in northeast Syria with his parents and siblings.
In 2019, Zahab was arrested by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and he was detained in al-Sina’a prison in Guweiran neighborhood in the city of Hasakah alongside suspected members of the ISIS for three years.
In January 2022, during fighting between the SDF, supported by the US-led Global Coalition, and ISIS, Zahab was wounded in the head and arm. He sent audio recording, begging for help during an ISIS siege of al-Sina’a prison to Human Rights Watch (HRW). Clashes started on January 20 after militants of ISIS assaulted a prison that holds thousands of ISIS inmates. The assault coincided with three explosions in an attempt to break out the ISIS detainees out of the prison.
Between 69 and 80 Australian nationals, including 19 women and 39 children, are held in northeast Syria as ISIS suspects and their family members, according to Kamalle Dabboussy, the representative for the Zahab’s and other detainees’ families.
“The big obstacle that hinders the advance of the SDF is that ISIS used terrorist children who are ‘Cubs of the Caliphate’ and amounts 700 minors in the prison, as human shields,” the SDF said in a statement. It's VERY Islamic
The previous Australian government repatriated only eight citizens, all unaccompanied children, Dabboussy stressed.
