Popular anger rises as occupation forces launch raids across Aden
by Emad Almarshahi

A campaign of raiding dozens of houses in the city of Aden, southern Yemen, by a security force affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) aroused widespread resentment among the residents, local sources said Wednesday.

The sources reported that members of the so-called “Security Belt” forces raided a number of citizens’ homes in Dar Saad district, under the pretext of searching for explosive materials, a few hours after an attack targeting a security belt patrol in the same district.

The STC armed factions stormed the house of the former Defense Minister, Abdullah Ali Aliwa, early today in Aden city, and arrested his son and a number of his grandchildren.

These factions did not explain the motives for storming the house of Aliwa, a prominent military man belongs to Shabwah province.

Saudi occupation seizes Yemeni fishing boats
by Emad Almarshahi

Saudi occupation forces confiscated on Wednesday dozens of fishing boats in the occupied Mahrah Governorate, eastern Yemen.

Local media sources confirmed that the Saudi forces launched a new campaign against the fishermen on the coasts of Al-Ghaydah, the capital of the governorate.

The sources indicated that the Saudi forces confiscated more than 20 fishing boats for citizens in the city. The sources indicated that the Saudi forces prevented the fishermen from fishing again on the coast of the city.

This incident comes within the systematic campaign led by the coalition forces against Yemeni fishermen for years, in a clear step to deprive the country of its marine wealth and exploit it for its benefit.

Four civilians injured in Saudi attack on civilian car
by Emad Almarshahi

At least four civilians were injured in-Hodeidah province on Thursday when the US-backed Saudi-led coalition forces targeted a car they were traveling in, in flagrant violation of the Sweden agreement.

A security source in the province said that the coalition forces targeted a civilian’s car with a guided missile in the village of Al-Murayr in Jabal Ras area, injuring four civilians with varying degrees of injuries.

The source condemned the coalition forces’ continued violations of the Sweden agreement and the armistice declared by the United Nations.

Former Clinton Advisor Says Hillary Will Run Again
[PJMedia] Former Bill Clinton advisor Dick Morris says Hillary will run again in 2024.

I think I speak for everyone here at PJ Media when I say NOOOOOOOOO! in one of those blood-curdling hollers that shake the stucco off all the houses in the neighborhood.

Writing for NewsMax, Morris argues that the Democrat Party’s leftward lurch will draw in Clinton as the only “moderate” who can stop bête noir Donald Trump from winning a belated second term.

He’s serious, you guys:

As leftist candidates emerge as front-runners in the Democratic primary, pressure will grow on Hillary Clinton to enter the race. Much like Biden’s surprise entrance in 2020, Democrats will see her as their savior, an experienced politician able to bridge the left and more moderate wings of the party.

Morris noted, as various PJ Media writers also have, that “Democrats and big media like The New York Times know that Biden can’t run again in 2024.”

That applies to both Hillary! and the semi-aptly named Dick Morris. I've often wondered how guys like Morris earn a living so far off of their political successes, which are few in his case. Must be the permanent DC circle-jerk thing without CNN's Toobin doing the short stroke.

Biden Tests Positive for COVID-19
[PJMedia] A day after scrambling to backtrack on Joe Biden’s erroneous claim that he has cancer, the White House has announced that Biden has tested positive for COVID-19.

“This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement Thursday morning. “He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms.”

In July 2021, Biden falsely claimed, “You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.” In January 2022, he claimed COVID was a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.:

At 79 years old, Joe Biden is in a high-risk group.

Jean-Pierre reports that Biden is taking Paxlovid and is isolating at the White House, consistent with CDC guidelines. He will “continue to work in isolation until he tests negative,” and will return to work in person once he has a negative test.

The White House will provide a daily update on Biden’s status.

#3  The President is reportedly taking Paxlovid.

June 30, 2022 – Fauci, the chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, said Tuesday that he went through a “Paxlovid rebound” that can occur after taking the antiviral to recover from COVID-19.

The symptoms that he had after he completed the treatment were more severe than those he had at first from the coronavirus, he said.

Fauci then began a second course of Paxlovid when symptoms returned, which were “much worse than the first go-around,” he said.

He later said that Paxlovid kept him out of the hospital and stopped his infection from becoming more severe when he first tested positive on June 15.

So Paxlovid does what the vaccine is supposed to do? How interesting, Dr. Fauci!

Trees Dedicated to Memory of Buchenwald Victims Chopped Down
[Breitbart] The Buchenwald concentration camp memorial says that seven trees dedicated to the memory of victims of the Nazi camp in eastern Germany have been chopped down.

The foundation that runs the memorial tweeted on Wednesday that the trees near the site apparently were attacked the previous day.

It posted pictures showing the trees severed about halfway up the trunk, and said it was "appalled at the deliberate attack on remembrance."

The foundation said that it had filed a complaint to police.

One of the trees was dedicated to children killed at Buchenwald and the others to six prisoners at the camp. The trees were part of a project called "1,000 beeches" and were planted on a route outside the actual camp along which prisoners were taken.

The Buchenwald concentration camp was established in 1937.

More than 56,000 of the 280,000 inmates held at Buchenwald and its satellite camps were killed by the Nazis or died as a result of hunger, illness or medical experiments before the camp’s liberation on April 11, 1945.

Uvalde schools look to fire Chief Arredondo after shooting
UVALDE, Texas (AP) — Facing massive public pressure, Uvalde’s top school official has recommended the firing of the school district police chief who has been blamed for the botched law enforcement response to the elementary school shooting nearly two months ago that killed two teachers and 19 students.

The South Texas city’s school board announced Wednesday that it will consider firing Chief Pete Arredondo at a special meeting Saturday. Arredondo has been accused by state officials of making several critical mistakes during the May 24 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School.

School officials have previously resisted calls to fire Arredondo. The announcement comes two days after a meeting where the school board members were lambasted for more than three hours by members of the public, who accused them of not implementing basic security at Robb, of not being transparent about what happened and of failing to hold Arredondo to account for his actions.

Afghanistan
US Includes Afghanistan on Human Trafficking List
[ToloNews] The US State Department in its annual report which was published on Monday, included Afghanistan on the list of countries engaged in a "policy or pattern" of human trafficking and forced labor or whose security forces or government-backed gangs recruit or use child soldiers.

According to the report, the current government of Afghanistan did not make any efforts to prevent trafficking in Afghanistan.

"After August 15, the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
did not investigate, prosecute, or convict any traffickers, nor did it identify or protect any trafficking victims or make any efforts to prevent trafficking. The Taliban shut down shelters and protective services for victims of crime, including trafficking victims— leaving vulnerable populations without support," the report reads.

But the Islamic Emirate denies claims made in the report, saying that Afghanistan is a secure place for all Afghans.

"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has prevented all illegal actions such as human trafficking and it has taken decisive measures against it," said Bilal Karimi, deputy front man of the Islamic Emirate.

In addition to Afghanistan, the new state-sponsors section listed Russia, Burma, Cuba, Iran, North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
, and five other countries with a "documented 'policy or pattern' of human trafficking," forced labor in government-affiliated sectors, sexual slavery in government camps or that employ or recruit child soldiers.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that currently there are nearly 25 million trafficking victims worldwide.

"The scale of this problem is vast. There are nearly 25 million people currently victims of trafficking. 25 million people. The United States is committed to fighting it because trafficking destabilizes societies, it undermines economies, it harms workers, it enriches those who exploit them, it undercuts legitimate business, and most fundamentally, because it is so profoundly wrong," he said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently...
legal experts believe that this report may have bad effects on Afghanistan.

"Human trafficking and forced labor are rejected and do not have any legal justification," said Rohullah Sahkhizada, legal expert.

The US State Department added that it is trying to arrest human traffickers and prevent crimes related to human trafficking.

700 Civilians Killed and Over 1400 Wounded Since Taliban Takeover: UN
[KhaamaPress] In a report detailing serious human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
violations conducted by Taliban
...Arabic for students...
forces since their takeover, the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) found that more than 700 civilians had been killed and more than 1400 injured.

A recent UNAMA report confirms many of the concerns Afghan human rights activist muppets have voiced since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan last August.

Summary killings and forced disappearances of former Afghan National Security Forces personnel are just two serious human rights violations Taliban forces have committed. These violations persisted for months after the Taliban took control of the country, according to the report.

According to this report, the Taliban were responsible for 178 arbitrary arrests and 160 extrajudicial (desert) executions between August 15, 2021, and June 15, 2022.

In the last 10 months, the Taliban allegedly perpetrated 23 acts of unlawful, arbitrary arrests of former soldiers and 56 cases of torture, maltreatment, and threats.

More than 100 ISIS members were allegedly unlawfully killed in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
, in eastern Afghanistan, by the Taliban.

The Taliban, on the other hand, denies the report by UNAMA calling it "unfounded" and "propaganda".

Zabihullah Mujahid, in reaction to UNAMA’s report on Taliban repression and abuse in Afghanistan, stated that "The UNAMA report on human rights in Afghanistan is not true."

He declared that anyone who engages in extrajudicial executions or arbitrary arrest will be prosecuted as a criminal and subject to Sharia law.

Taliban Provides Ground for Dialogue between Pakistan and Pakistani Taliban: Pakistani Diplomat
[KhaamaPress] According to the ambassador of Pakistain to Afghanistan, the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
are facilitating the government of Pakistain in its talks with groups such as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), also known as Pak Taliban.

Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Pakistain’s ambassador to Kabul, was cited in a report by Pak media saying that the Afghan Taliban were seeking to reconcile the government of Pakistain and TTP and restore their relations, on 19th July.

The negotiation process, according to ambassador Mansoor Ahmad Khan, is still in progress, and the Pak government is "grateful" to the Afghan Taliban for their cooperation in preserving international peace.

Blaming India, the ambassador said that gunnies operating inside Afghanistan for over the past 20 years are sponsored, trained, and supported by India.

The Afghan Taliban are hosting the Pak Taliban in this third round of talks with the government of Pakistain, according to the Pak diplomat.

The first round of negotiations between the Pak parties and the Afghan Taliban mediator was reportedly futile according to Pak officials.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
the second round of negotiations between the Pak parties with the Taliban mediation was successful, as it secured a temporary ceasefire between the parties.

The Taliban have yet to respond to Ahmed Khan’s statement.

This comes as Pakistain’s ambassador urged the international community to step up engagement with the Taliban to avert the growing threat of economic collapse, which is aggravated by severe hunger and unemployment.

Facebook Bans Taliban-controlled Media Pages, Bakhtar News Agency and Afghanistan National Television
[KhaamaPress] Facebook has suspended the pages of the Taliban

-controlled Afghanistan National Television and Bakhtar news agency. The said pages are no longer accessible.

Facebook had suspended the Pashto and Dari pages of this media organization, according to Ahmadullah Wasiq, head of Afghanistan National Television.

When the Taliban took Kabul on August 15, 2021, they seized control of Afghanistan National Television’s media center. As a result, they conducted extensive media activities. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
the pages of this media center and Bakhtar News Agency are currently inaccessible.

The pages of Taliban-controlled government agencies in Afghanistan on the Facebook social networking site were previously closed, by Facebook.

Facebook, one of the most widely used social networks worldwide, was the first to name the Taliban as a terrorist organization following their takeover in mid-August, 2021, merely two days after the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan.

Facebook perceives the Taliban to be a "terrorist organization" and has banned the publication of any materials created by or supporting this organization on its social media platform.

According to a Facebook spokesperson, this social media platform enforces its anti-Taliban policy on all of its platforms, including Facebook itself, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

While the Taliban has long used Facebook as a social media platform for information and advertising, Taliban officials and spokespersons are more active on Twitter.

Shorty Koger's Custom Hats Created the Bygone Cowboy Way
[G&G] Few hatters build truly custom pieces the way Shorty Koger does anymore. Her brass and cast-iron machines are at least as old as her parapeted 1930s-era saloon-style storefront in the Oklahoma City stockyards, where they sit, hissing and steaming and bobbing with rich felt. For one, the equipment hardly exists anymore—much less anyone who knows how to use it. "It’s hard to find somebody to make a hat," says Koger, buttoned up to her chin in a Western shirt, her own tan cowboy hat expertly perched. "This whole business is a lost art."

Sick cultures show a complex of symptoms such as you have named...but a dying culture invariably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. As a youngster, my church and my family educated me as to what was coming in the future, Biblically and politically. I knew about communism, but back then I didn’t know it had been around since the early 19th century. President Kennedy was shot and killed when I was a junior in high school. Then came the murders of Martin Luther King and two months later, Bobby Kennedy. Tanks rolled down the streets of Chicago in April and August of 1968, and a 10 p.m. curfew was declared for the entire city. Apartment buildings were boarded in case of attacks by rioters. Chicago was on fire, looting and burning was everywhere after King’s death. Mayor Richard J. Daley told the police, shoot to injure if they are stealing, shoot to kill if they’re starting fires.

Paroled hardline Muslim cleric promises to fight on, ‘forbid evil’
[BenarNews] A hardline Indonesian Moslem holy man vowed to fight on as he walked free on parole Wednesday after serving about 18 months of his four-year prison sentence for lying about his COVID-19 test result.

Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, founder of the banned but influential anti-vice group Islamic Defenders’ Front (FPI),
...founded by Muhammad Rezieq Shihab for nefarious purposes and headquartered in Jakarta, FPI began agitating for national imposition of sharia law in 1998. The group quickly attracted patronage — including funding and military training for its paramilitary arm, Laskar Pembela Islam (Islamic Defenders Paramilitary, LPI)— from Indonesia’s army and Jakarta’s police. They’re fond of vigilante actions and Antifa-style protests with violence, and have been called a conveyor belt leading from radicalism to terrorism. At the beginning of 2021 they were banned, so changed their name to Front Persatuan Islam (Islamic United Front), which everybody including themselves has already forgotten ...
pledged to continue to "enjoin the good and forbid the evil, no matter the risks," in his first public statement after being set free from a prison in Jakarta.

"I’m telling you my friends and fellow scholars, we are united in the struggle and I will not abandon the people, I will not betray the people," Rizieq said in a speech livestreamed online.

"I will try my best to protect the people and will continue to fight for the rights of the people, because we are the people, and the people are us," he said.

Rizieq also said he was forbidden from travelling outside the capital without written permission from parole officers. According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Rizieq was allowed to go free because he had met minimum requirements for parole, but he will have to report regularly to the Bapas correctional institution in Jakarta for at least a year.

Azis Yanuar, Rizieq’s attorney, said his client would spend his time preaching what he called a "moral revolution" but in a way that avoids breaching his parole terms.

"He will go about it without violating the law and in a softer manner," Azis told BenarNews.

‘WON’T RISK CRIMINAL OFFENSES’
Rizieq would likely avoid mobilizing followers for political rallies ahead of national elections scheduled for 2024, said analyst Rakyan Adibrata.

"During the period of parole, I believe that he will not risk criminal offenses. In other words, he will play it safe," Rakyan, Indonesia director of the International Association for Counterterrorism and Security Professionals, told BenarNews.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
Rakyat said, conservative Moslem politicians might try to court Rizieq as he remains influential politically.

"I believe soon there will be meetings between politicians and Habib Rizieq that will be covered widely by the media as identity politics heats up," said the analyst, using the Arabic honorific for the holy man.

A Jakarta court in June 2021 sentenced Rizieq to four years in prison for saying he was not infected with COVID-19 after testing positive and refusing to give the government access to his test results.

The previous month, Rizieq and five of his associates were sentenced to eight months in prison for violating coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
restrictions by organizing events in late 2020 that drew thousands of people. These included a gathering to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad and a wedding for Rizieq’s daughter.

Rizieq, a vocal critic of the government, held the gatherings upon his return home from Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
on Nov. 10, 2020.

Since founding the anti-vice group FPI in 1998, the holy man and the group’s members have had several brushes with the law.

In the early 2000s, FPI was notorious for raiding bars and night clubs, which, the group said, harbored drug pushers and hookers.

In 2003, Rizieq was sentenced to seven months in prison for these raids.

In 2008, he was locked away
Please don't kill me!
for 18 months after being found guilty of inciting FPI members to assault protesters from the National Alliance for Freedom of Religion and Beliefs.

In Dec. 2020, police shot and killed, allegedly in self-defense, six of Rizieq’s supporters who were traveling in a convoy with him.

A month later, the National Commission on Human Rights said its investigation found police had acted unlawfully in the killings of at least four of those followers.

FPI, for its part, claimed the six were victims of extrajudicial killings.

The Indonesian government officially banned FPI in December 2020 after it accused the group of violating the law and disrupting peace and security. In addition, 35 members and former members had been convicted on terrorism charges, officials said.

The decision to ban the organization was taken jointly by Indonesia’s home, law and communications ministers, the police and counter terrorism heads, and the attorney general.

After almost two decades, IDF finally admits to using armed drones in airstrikes
[IsraelTimes] Military censor says ’no impediment’ to publishing Israel’s attack UAV capabilities; Hermes 450 used in Tuesday strike on Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, post.

After nearly two decades, the Military Censor on Wednesday said Israeli media could finally publish a long-known secret: the Israel Defense Forces uses armed drones to strike targets.

The decision came a day after the IDF struck a Hamas post in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip in response to gunfire toward a town on the border, using an Elbit Hermes 450 armed drone.

"It was found that there is no impediment in publishing the IDF’s use of strike UAVs as part of its operational activities," the censor said in a brief statement, after examining the issue.

For years the IDF would not state it uses armed drones, and Israeli journalists who attempted to report on it came up against the IDF censor.

Israel has used armed drones to strike numerous targets over the years, and according to reports, as early as the 2006 war in Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity™, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade...
and the 2008 war in the Gaza Strip.

Images published by foreign media outlets have shown the Hermes 450 with pods attached to its wings, used to launch small guided munitions.

Israeli drones have been used in several assassinations of Hamas officials in the Gaza Strip, including a leader of the terror group’s military wing, Ahmed Jabari, in 2012.

Drones have also been used in a technique known as "knocking on the roof," in which an inert missile is fired at the roof of a building to warn residents to leave before the structure is destroyed by armed munitions.

The Military Censor did not elaborate on what caused it to change its policy, other than saying it had held an "in-depth and topical" review of the matter.

Israel has not disclosed how many attack drones it has. The Hermes 450 is operated by the Air Force’s 161st Squadron.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah demands return of border rail tunnel in likely bid to torpedo Israel talks
[IsraelTimes] Minister aligned with terror group says passage, closed since Israel’s creation in 1948, is Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years. It produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. That's three statements. Only the first is subjective....
’s sovereign territory; remark seen as trying to complicate maritime negotiations.

A Lebanese minister affiliated with the Hezbollah terror group demanded Monday that Israel give Lebanon control over a long-shuttered rail tunnel that goes from Israel’s northern border town of Rosh Hanikra and stretches hundreds of meters into Lebanon.

"Our sovereign rights lie in our decision to restore every inch of the occupied tunnel, without compromising our decision to restore our land and sea borders as well," Hamieh said during a visit to the Lebanese side of the border, Israel’s Channel 12 news reported.

Dug in 1941 by the British rulers, the 695-meters-long tunnel was part of a rail system that once linked Egypt to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, passing through British Mandate Paleostine and Lebanon. It has been closed since Israel’s War of Independence in 1948. In 2000, when Israel pulled out of southern Lebanon, it filled the Lebanese exit with concrete while the tunnel remained under Israeli control as a closed military zone.

Hamieh also demanded that the concrete barrier be pulled down.

Israeli sources were cited by Channel 12 as saying that relinquishing control of the tunnel would present a threat to Kibbutz Rosh Hanikra, which lies along the border.

Hamieh’s comments were seen as an effort to torpedo talks between Israel and Lebanon aimed at resolving their disputed maritime border and the question of who has rights to lucrative offshore gas fields.

Though Lebanese authorities have not made any demands about the tunnel for many years, the subject was previously raised by the Lebanese negotiating team in the maritime talks, according to the report.

The report said Hezbollah views the tunnel as a way of gaining leverage in the negotiations. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
political opponents to Hezboallh in Beirut are claiming the demand is just a distraction intended to complicate the maritime talks.

Moshe Davidovich, head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council, said in a statement that the "delusionary demand by the Lebanese government is at best a failed joke and at worst a foolish attempt to undermine the facts about the State of Israel."

Hezbollah has recently escalated its rhetoric and actions over the border dispute, after Israel moved a natural gas drilling vessel into its Karish field, which Lebanon claims is a disputed area. Lebanon protested the development and Hezbollah made threats to attack the field. In its boldest move, Hezbollah sent three drones toward the Karish platform on July 2, all of which were intercepted by the IDF.

Last week, Hezbollah chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
threatened Israel with war, saying that drones sent recently to the Karish gas field were "only the beginning."

"Write down this equation — we will reach Karish and everything beyond Karish and everything beyond that... If you want to prevent Lebanon from exercising its right to save itself by extracting oil and gas, no one will be able to extract oil and gas," he said in a televised speech marking 16 years since the Second Lebanon War.

Last month, US energy envoy Amos Hochstein discussed with Israel’s negotiating team a Lebanese proposal to resolve the maritime dispute.

According to Hochstein, Lebanon had agreed to drop demands for control of part of the Karish field claimed by Israel, asking in exchange for full control of the Qana gas field that also straddles the countries’ offshore economic zones.

Israel says the Karish field is part of its UN-recognized exclusive economic zone and has been seeking to develop it as it tries to position itself as a natural gas supplier to Europe.

Earlier in June, Israel, Egypt and the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
signed a memorandum of understanding in Cairo that will see Israel export its natural gas to the bloc for the first time.

Nasrallah’s speech last Wednesday coincided with US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S., who gives the term geriatric a bad name. He blames Afghans for losing Afghanistan....
’s first visit to the region as president. Hochstein, the US negotiator, joined Biden on the Israel and Saudi Arabia

The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Home Front: Politix
Bye-Bye Biden
[American Thinker] Would any other American president have committed as many gaffes and missteps as Joe Biden has and still be said to love America?

What other free-country world leader has treated his own people so badly and been allowed to stay in office?

What other world leader cannot string two cogent sentences together and still remain in office? Joe Biden is non compos mentis and should remove himself from the White House before he is removed by his own party or before he further collapses the American economy and its status on the world stage. It cannot get much worse.

Clearly, the man is cognitively in decline. His many gaffes, word salads, blank stares, popcorn temper flare-ups, weird demeanors, creepy whisperings, touchy-feely gropings with women and children, and his monumentally wrong-headed economic policies are enough to turn the strongest of stomachs.

Biden has single-handedly destroyed America's energy independence.

He has personally made America a ridiculous paper tiger in the eyes of our enemies who want us dead or conquered.

Joe Biden has fist-bumped the most powerful oil producer on the planet in a way that signals an utter lack of seriousness.

He has opened the borders and welcomed terrorists and murderers.

Biden seems to deliberately want to link arms with the socialists among us in order to drag America's standard of living down to that of Venezuela's. Food shortages, brownouts and blackouts, a severely reduced reputation as the planet's finest fighting force, and other admirable things America was known to have been destroyed or crippled by this impaired president.

Joe's policies are bankrupting America.

In order to kowtow to the climate cretins in Congress whose policies would further damage our economy, he has implemented policies and executive orders that drag America down from the Trump-high economy and energy independence to the Biden-low of scarcity, inflated prices, worker shortages, and supply line problems that would never have happened under Trump.

His failure to address the light-speed increase in crime is inexcusable.

He has done all that with the energy of an aging retriever and the political instincts of Barbra Streisand.

Joe Biden has done more to drop-kick America back to the political, fiscal, and energy Stone Age than any president in memory.

Under Biden, our social and economic infrastructure has been all but decimated. It is almost as if he has signed on to an America-last agenda. For that matter, does he even know what his agenda is? Or has he delegated his presidency to pre-Trump power brokers?

Worst of all, Joe Biden's policies regarding racial matters have reignited a previously placid racial state. He is now exacerbating a simmering situation between white and black that hasn't been seen since the '60s.

Otherwise, a 2023 GOP chaired Congressional hearing on his Mental Fitness and the many illegal political stunts that the LSD's pulled while controlling him have pulled will happen.

My Question:
When MSM acts repeatedly as a Political Propaganda arm and not a Free Press, has it earned the same protections awarded a Free Press?

eg. When it deliberately publishes false and misleading information (Russia Gate & etc.) knowing that its actions would allow its political allies to abuse and violate the US Constitution Articles of Impeachment and the freedom of others to promote their political agenda?

‘Shrinkflation' in restaurant portions causing spike in diner complaints
[NYP] A growing number of customers are grumbling online about receiving smaller portions while dining as so-called "shrinkflation" takes hold at struggling businesses, according to data from review site Yelp.

Restaurants and other businesses are down on serving sizes due to the onset of decades-high inflation. Yelp users have started to take notice of the trend, with reviews containing "inflationary language" up 28% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year.

"We saw reviewers use inflation-related language at record levels, particularly in the dining, arts and entertainment and travel categories," said Pria Mudan, data science leader at Yelp. "And for the first time, reviewers are describing shrinkflation-related experiences where the size or quantity of goods are noticeably smaller."

Shrinkflation "is most referenced at restaurants serving more affordable fare," Mudan added. Reviews mentioning inflation-related experiences jumped 38% year-over-year at casual restaurants, 36% at food businesses and 30% at nightlife businesses.

Restaurants serving popular, traditionally low-cost items such as hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza generated the most "shrinkflation"-related complaints, according to Yelp’s report. Customers also grumbled about serving sizes at seafood spots and restaurants serving Italian or Chinese food.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Man moderately hurt in Jerusalem stabbing attack, Palestinian assailant shot
[IsraelTimes] Victim, 41, attacked with screwdriver on bus near Ramot; civilian shoots stabber before officers reach area.

An Israeli man was moderately hurt in a suspected terror stabbing attack on a bus near Jerusalem’s northeastern Ramot neighborhood on Tuesday, police and medics said.

The 41-year-old man was stabbed in the head by a Paleostinian man, also in his 40s, while traveling on bus line 137, near the Ramot Junction, officials said.

He was taken to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, which said his condition was not life-threatening.

According to police, the assailant attacked the man on the bus with a screwdriver during the ride, as the bus left Ramot. The driver then halted and the passengers fled the bus, police said.

The alleged assailant was shot and maimed by a passerby, Meshi Ben Ami, a Ynet news site photographer, who noticed the incident shortly before officers arrived at the scene.

"I got out of the car, loaded my gun and realized it was a terror attack. The stabber came to me, I did not hesitate and fired one bullet at him. I heard him praying in Arabic," Ben Ami told the Kan public broadcaster.

The suspected stabber was taken to a hospital, where he was listed as being in moderate condition, police said.

A defense official told The Times of Israel that the stabber had a permit to enter Israel, but did not carry a BMC (businessman card) permit given to senior Paleostinian businesspeople, as several Hebrew-language media outlets reported. Rather, the brother of the assailant had a BMC permit, the official said.

Police added thon the lam numbers of officers arrived at the scene, and were investigating the circumstances. Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman held an assessment at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group praised the attack. In a statement, Hazem Qassem said the stabbing was an "act of heroism," adding that it was a "natural response to the crimes of the occupation against the holy places of Islam and Christianity in Jerusalem."

"The attack once again emphasizes the failure of attempts to stop the resistance in the occupied West Bank and the city of Jerusalem," the statement said.

Earlier this month, a Paleostinian man was arrested for allegedly attacking and seriously wounding an Israeli man near the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak.

Last month, a Paleostinian man was detained on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City after he allegedly attempted to stab officers before fleeing the scene.

Between mid-March and the beginning of May, a string of deadly attacks across Israel and the West Bank left 19 people dead.

UN aviation watchdog condemns Belarus for fake Hamas bomb threat
Crying wolf for effect.
[IsraelTimes] ICAO investigation concludes that authorities in Minsk used false threat as excuse to ground plane and arrest dissident journalist, endangering airliner.

The United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
agency in charge of investigating the diversion of a Ryanair flight by Belarus last year announced Tuesday it has completed its review, dismissing a claimed Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, bomb threat as a ruse and once again pointing the finger at the "unlawful" actions carried out by Minsk.

On May 23, 2021, a Ryanair flight from Greece to Lithuania was forced to land in Minsk, with Belarusian authorities arresting dissident journalist, Roman Protasevich, and his partner, Sofia Sapega, who were on board. Belarussian authorities claimed that Hamas had threatened to blow up the plane, a claim denied by the terror group.

"The ICAO Council concluded its discussions yesterday on the May 2021 incident in Belarus airspace involving Ryanair Flight FR4978, condemning the actions of the Government of Belarus in committing an act of unlawful interference," the International Civil Aviation Organization said in a statement.

The investigation was extended in early January to establish certain "missing facts" and examine new information.

The Montreal-based ICAO studied audio recordings of the Minsk air traffic controller who was monitoring the affected flight.

The agency said that the bomb threat used as excuse to divert the aircraft was "deliberately false and endangered its safety."

"The threat was communicated to the flight crew upon the instructions of senior government officials of Belarus," it added.

Ryanair said Belarusian flight controllers told the pilots there was a bomb threat against the jetliner and ordered it to land in Minsk. The Belarusian military scrambled a MiG-29 fighter jet in an apparent attempt to encourage the crew to comply with the flight controllers’ orders.

Belarus transport officials later claimed the country had received a bomb threat claiming to be from Hamas that threatened to blow up the plane unless Israel halted military operations in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
. The claim was regarded as dubious as Hamas and Israel had ceased fighting two days earlier.

The statement from ICAO added that the council representative of Russia — a close ally of Minsk — had "expressed his State’s strong objection to identifying Belarus as the source of the unlawful interference which took place."

It said that the council, made up of 36 countries, had asked its president to pass the findings of the investigation on to UN Secretary-General António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
The ICAO’s mission is to enact the rules governing global civil air transport, but it has no power to impose sanctions.

In the event of a proven violation of international rules, its role is to provide support for any countries wishing to pronounce condemnations or apply sanctions, in accordance with the reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
Convention on International Civil Aviation, the institution said.

Last month, Sapega asked for a pardon from Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko after being sentenced to six years in prison for "inciting social hatred" and "illegal collection of personal data."

Protasevich is currently under house arrest pending trial.

Iranian politician says Israel ‘freely runs its operations’ in Tehran
One man’s opinion. It’s true, of course, but even so.
[IsraelTimes] After series of attacks attributed to Israel, unnamed officials suggest ’the highest levels of the Iranian establishment’ are shaken.

An Iranian politician indicated that many in his country feel Israel is operating freely in Tehran and targeting security operations with ease.

In a report published Tuesday in the UK-based Financial Times, an official cited only as a "reformist politician" was quoted as saying that "it feels as if Israel has established a large-scale organization in Tehran and freely runs its operations."

The politician added: "Israel is clearly targeting Iran’s ’highly secure’ image to tarnish its greatness in people’s eyes."

A series of liquidations and attacks in Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
have been attributed to Israel in recent months, though Jerusalem rarely if ever publicly takes credit for such operations. But in a rare interview last week — and rarer yet comments on Israeli activity in enemy countries — National Security Adviser Eyal Hulata said Israel had "acted quite a lot in Iran over the past year."

Tensions between Israel and Iran have intensified in recent months, after the liquidation of a top Iranian officer in Tehran, a number of other mysterious deaths of security personnel inside Iran, Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s against Iran-linked targets in Syria, threatening rhetoric from Iranian leaders and Iran’s increasing violation of nuclear agreements.

The most serious blow to Tehran came in May, when Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp Col. Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, 50, was killed outside his home in the east of the Iranian capital by attackers on cycle of violences who shot him five times.

Then last month, Colonel Ali Esmailzadeh, a commander of the IRGC’s external operations unit, the Quds Force, died "in an accident in his home," according to state news agency IRNA. Shortly afterward, Ali Kamani, a member of the Guard’s aerospace division, was killed while on a mission in Khomein in the central province of Markazi, the IRGC said.

The Financial Times report noted a feeling of "anxiety at the highest levels of the Iranian establishment" over the series of Israeli-attributed attacks. In late June, the IRGC replaced its longtime intelligence chief in a move seen by many as a reaction to the suspected liquidations.

Nevertheless, Iranian officials told the UK newspaper that they are not looking to directly escalate tensions at the moment.

"Iran’s policy remains to work with its proxy forces and we will not initiate any attacks against Israel if Israel doesn’t attack Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...In 2006 unknown persons blew up Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, the car he was traveling in, the road he was traveling on, and a few innocent bystanders of no account whatsoever. ," a "regime insider" was quoted as saying. "It’s not wise for us to fight with Israel. And Zionists also show teeth to attack but their teeth are not sharp enough to go as far as striking Iran."

In a similar report in The New York Times

... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

late last month, Iranian officials told the newspaper that Israel’s operations have had drastic and long-lasting effects.

"The security breaches inside Iran and the vast scope of operations by Israel have really undermined our most powerful intelligence organization," said former Iranian vice president Mohammad Ali Abtahi.

Unnamed Iranian officials also said at the time that "Israel’s spy network has infiltrated deep into the rank and file of Iran’s security circles."

Britain
Leaked report says rival factions in Corbyn’s Labour wielded antisemitism as weapon
[IsraelTimes] Probe finds Corbynites believed allegations of antisemitism were designed to attack ex-party chair, while right faction saw the issue as a means to attack the left-wing leader.

Antisemitism was weaponized by both the right and left factions of the Labour party under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, according to a leaked report published in British media on Tuesday.

The 138-page report by Queen’s Counsel Martin Forde found deep distrust and factional differences distracted the two sides of the party, impeding their ability to deal with antisemitism in their ranks and build effective election campaigns, the Guardian reported.

Forde charged that Corbyn supporters believed accusations of antisemitism to be exaggerated, while opponents of the former leader viewed the problem "as a means of attacking him."

"Thus, rather than confront the paramount need to deal with the profoundly serious issue of antisemitism in the party, both factions treated it as a factional weapon," Forde concluded.

UK Labour chair Keir Starmer, who succeeded Corbyn, requested the investigation in April 2020, after a leaked 860-page report concluded that no current or former staff were "motivated by anti-Semitic intent" and was said to have found "no evidence" of antisemitism complaints being treated differently from other forms of complaint.

The 2020 probe said there was a lack of "robust processes, systems, training, education, and effective line management" and claimed to have found "abundant evidence of a hyper-factional atmosphere prevailing in Party HQ" toward Corbyn, which "affected the expeditious and resolute handling of disciplinary complaints."

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
Forde’s report argued that the issue was also present in the former opposition leader’s office, as supporters believed allegations of antisemitism were designed "simply as an attack on the leader and his faction."

"In simple terms, each faction believed the other had ’started it’ when it came to obstructionist behaviour and that they were only responding in kind," it said.

Corbyn didn’t acknowledge his supporters’ role in the party’s failings in response to Forde’s probe, instead noting in an online statement that "powerful groups" in Labour found it "hard to come to terms" with his election to head the party, and decried the "racism and sexism" faced by members of the party.

Addressing the report, a Labour spokesperson said Forde’s findings detailed "a party that was out of control" and that "real progress" had been made since Starmer was elected leader.

The leaked report received a lukewarm response from Board of Deputies of British Jews President Marie van der Zyl, who cited the report’s dismay that Jewish Voice for Labour had not been picked to enlighten the party on antisemitism.

While acknowledging the "marked improvement" in Labour’s attitude to antisemitism under Starmer, Zyl said: "We are troubled by the authors’ later expression that they are ’disappointed’ that ’Jewish Voice for Labour’ — an extreme fringe far-left organization that has obsessively denied antisemitism within the Labour Party — has not been granted a role in educating Labour members on antisemitism."

Corbyn vowed to punish any party member caught making racist statements during his time as leader, yet he defended a number of members who made vitriolic antisemitic remarks and expelled hardly any members despite more than 850 formal complaints.

Corbyn himself drew vast criticism for his own actions. In 2019, he expressed regret for having defended a 2012 antisemitic mural in London’s East End. The mural, named Freedom of Humanity, was painted on a property near Brick Lane by the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist Kalen Ockerman. It depicted a group of men — seemingly caricatures of Jewish bankers and businessmen — counting their money on a Monopoly board balanced on the backs of naked workers.

Also in 2019, he was found to have authored a glowing foreword to a book that claims that Jews control global financial systems and describes them as "men of a single and peculiar race."

In addition, the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group has thanked Corbyn for his solidarity in recognizing Paleostinian mourning over the 71st anniversary of the formation of the State of Israel.

The now-former Labour leader has in the past been criticized for calling terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah "friends" when inviting members for a parliamentary meeting in 2009. He later downplayed the comment and said he regretted using the term.

Three years ago it emerged that in 2014 Corbyn attended a ceremony that honored the Lions of Islam behind the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre. He later said, "I was present when [a wreath] was laid, I don’t think I was actually involved in it."

Joe Biden Announces He Has 'Cancer' in Series of 25th Amendment-Worthy Moments
[Red State] Joe Biden just dropped the biggest bombshell in presidential history. Either that or he dropped the biggest gaffe. It’s probably the latter, as we’ll discuss, but I’m not sure that makes things any better.

While speaking in Massachusetts on Wednesday, the president claimed to have "cancer," citing supposed oil slicks on the windows of cars. Apparently, being exposed to oil residue as a child gives you cancer later in life? I don’t know. None of what he says in the following clip makes sense, and it’s best to just take it for what it is.

Putin faces second war front as Chechens threaten new offensive in Russia
Oh dear — so much for his short, glorious war. And a reminder to beware of unplanned for secondary and tertiary consequences, also known as The Unexpected.
[MSN] Russian President Vladimir Putin could be facing another war front, this time on his own turf, as one Chechen battalion prepares a second offensive against Moscow, a spokesman for the volunteer fighting force in Ukraine said.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, volunteer Chechen forces joined the fight in support of Kyiv – fueling the flames to a long-held animus towards not only Russia, but Putin.

"We know the enemy’s positions, where Russian military bases are," spokesman for the Sheikh Mansur Battalion, Islam Belokiev, said in a video message obtained by Fox News Digital this week while announcing a plan to once again fight for Chechen independence. "We have divided the Chechen Republic of Icheriya
...in the Rantburg archives and elsewhere as Ichkeria, because transliterations are so often more interesting than one would expect. Following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the so-called Chechen Republic of Ichkeria evolved into the Al Qaeda-linked Caucasus Emirate, which is naturally banned in Russia, the umbrella group for the jihadi organizations in the North Caucasus. Russia has been hunting down the jihadis of Caucasian Emirate for three decades. They subsequently swore allegiance to ISIS under the name Caucasus Province. Thousands made hijra to the ISIS caliphate in Syria, others were adopted by Turkey — that whole Turkic peoples thingy. Most famously, the Tsarnaev brothers blew up the Boston Marathon for them. Possibly this CRI merely shares a name without sharing the jihadi ideology...
into three fronts and 16 sectors."

Chechen resistance to Russian rule dates back centuries and calls for independence began more than 30 years ago following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Broad autonomy was granted under a peace treaty signed by then Russian President Boris Yeltsin after a brutal war devastated the republic from 1994-1996.

However, disdain for Putin and a decade of war broke out after he voided the treaty and launched a deadly military campaign in 1999 after he was appointed prime minister by then President Boris Yeltsin.

In an infamous speech that was a prelude his presidential rise, Putin said, "We will pursue the terrorists everywhere. If we catch them on the toilet, we will wipe them out in the outhouse."
Earthy for effect, I suspect, for an earthy people. One imagines he does the perfect gentleman just as well...
An estimated 160,000 people were killed in both campaigns, though exact figures remain unclear.

At least two volunteer Chechen battalions, including veteran soldiers from both the first and second Chechen wars, have taken up arms against Russia in Ukraine, including the Sheikh Mansur Battalion and the Dzhokhar Dudayev Battalion.

Both groups have been vocal in denouncing the leader of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, who was appointed to the post in 2007 by Putin and has brutally backed his war efforts against Kyiv.
Chechens fighting on both sides of this war, Cossacks, ditto, and so too Ukrainians. Not to mention a measure of disunity back home in Russia. Interesting times for Vladimir Vladimirovich.
A spokesman for the Sheikh Mansur Battalion said the resistance group had divided Chechnya into three sectors and claimed to have begun working with local populations "to uncover the enemy troop movements, type of transport, type of armaments, number of troops and quantity of weapons."

Fox News could not independently verify the claims, but Russia expert and former intelligence officer in Russian doctrine and strategy for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Rebekah Koffler, said it could serve as a strategy to distract Putin’s war effort in Ukraine.

"The possibility of them taking advantage of Putin’s forces being tied up in Ukraine to assert their independence is very plausible," she explained.

It is unclear if the Chechen volunteer forces are strategizing with Kyiv by creating a second front, but Koffler noted that even if a second front is not fully launched in Chechnya it could still strain Putin’s forces.

It would "at least make Putin and the Russians believe that they will have to divert their attention and take eyes off Ukraine, so Ukrainians could launch a counter-offensive," she said. "That’s very clever."

on the Kurdistan region that killed at least eight tourists. But Turkey has distanced itself from the shelling, saying it was a "terror attack."

The Ottoman Turkish Foreign Ministry referred to the airstrike as a "terror attack" and expressed condolences to Iraq.

Ankara went on to urge Iraqi officials to avoid making statements influenced by "terrorist organization propaganda," an apparent reference to the PKK.

The ministry added that Turkey was ready to cooperate in investigating the attack.

An earlier statement from Turkey's Defense Ministry said two Kurdish forces of Evil had surrendered to a Ottoman Turkish security point at the Habur border crossing, about 10 kilometers (16 miles) from Zakho — but made no mention of the shelling.

Fighting the Crisis in the Anti-Russian Coalition
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

[ColonelCassad] There are simultaneous attempts by the Atlantic establishment to stop the consequences of political crises in Italy and Britain.

1. After Prime Minister Draghi resigned, it was first rejected, and now they are already trying to play a scenario where there will be a technical re-formation of the ruling coalition and re-approval of the government through a vote of confidence. It is noteworthy that Draghi calls "confrontation with Russia" one of the main goals.

2. Similarly, one can observe efforts to get Liz Truss into the final vote for the post of British Prime Minister, where Truss is seen as a continuation of the Johnson course, while Sunak, as a protege of the City, focuses more on the economy than on Ukraine.

Truss and Draghi are needed by the operators of the war in Ukraine in order to postpone the open crisis of the coalition in support of the war in Ukraine and to prevent the withdrawal of Britain and Italy from their roles in the Ukrainian war in order to stabilize the economic situation.

Therefore, they are trying to save one, and promote the second. And the population must endure. Which will make the situation for the Italian and British governments in matters of domestic politics stable-unstable.

Of course, the situation in France and Germany also remains unstable, where the failure of the ruling parties in the elections exacerbates internal contradictions against the background of the economic crisis.

Atlantists now have to make considerable efforts to avoid the spread of the "anti-Russian coalition" due to the growing socio-economic tension.

Much will determine the outcome of the midterm elections in the US, where the defeat of the Democrats could set off a chain reaction in vassal states.

Fifth Column
Virginia man who set police car ablaze during George Floyd riot sentenced to 364 days, avoids deportation
[FoxNews] The first of six people charged with setting fire to police vehicles in Philadelphia during the 2020 protests after the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police has been sentenced.

Ayoub Tabri, 25, was sentenced Monday to 364 days behind bars -- less time than he's already served in custody, and short enough to avoid triggering deportation proceedings for the Moroccan immigrant.

Lawyers for Tabri, of Arlington, Va., said the green card holder has been in the U.S. since he was 6 years old. A longer sentence, which he and the others faced under the original arson charges that carried a minimum sentence of seven years in prison, could have sent him to a country where he knew no one and didn't speak the language, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Former U.S. Attorney Bill McSwain had vowed to pursue the harsher arson charges against the six people arrested. After he left office last year, federal prosecutors worked out plea deals with a handful of those defendants, including Tabri and Lore-Elizabeth Blumenthal. Still, prosecutors argued for a longer sentence in court Monday.

Tabri pleaded guilty in March to one count of obstructing law enforcement during civil disorder, according to court records.

"The judge took into consideration the appropriate factors and imposed a just sentence," Nancy MacEoin, a federal public defender representing Tabri, said Tuesday.

Once released, Tabri will serve three years probation and have to pay about $87,000 in restitution for the Pennsylvania State Police car destroyed after he and others threw lit road flares into the vehicle.

Blumenthal, who pleaded guilty to two counts of obstructing law enforcement during civil disorder related to throwing a piece of burning police barrier at a police car, is scheduled to be sentenced later this month. Police used photos from the protest and social media profiles to find Blumenthal, 35, from Jenkintown, who was wearing a distinctive shirt investigators tracked down on Etsy and had a recognizable tattoo.

Attorney Paul Hetznecker declined to comment on the specifics of Blumenthal's case, but said the shift in prosecution against defendants facing charges from the protests is important.

"This reflects an evolution in the thinking of prosecutors in the justice department
...what a gentle way to describe being unprincipled political hacks...
about these cases and putting them in the appropriate context," Hetznecker said. "These cases occurred at an important flashpoint in our history, and they should be viewed that way."

The case against Blumenthal was widely criticized by civil rights advocates, who worried it was a signal of policies promoting heavier social media and internet surveillance of dissidents.
Did any of those wide civil rights advocates protest the exact same use of social media to hint down the January 6 protesters?
McSwain's initial charges also became a symbol of federal officials' zeal to pursue stiff penalties for those arrested during the nationwide protests.

Another defendant is scheduled for a plea hearing to lesser charges later this month. The three others charged in the police vehicle fires are slated to go to trial later this year.
Update at 5:00 p.m. EDT from information found on links on Mr. Tabri’s Antifa Watch page. From Fox29 on October 29, 2020:
US Attorney William McSwain announced charges against four men stemming from their alleged involvement in police vehicle arsons during civil unrest in Philadelphia over the summer.

Anthony David Smith, Khalif Miller, and Carlos Matchett have each been charged with two counts of arson and one count of obstructing law enforcement, U.S. Attorney William McSwain said on Thursday.

According to McSwain, the three men are accused of using a road flare to torch a Philadelphia police patrol car parked near City Hall on May 30, as violent mostly peaceful demonstrations unfolded in the city following the death of St. George Floyd
...the patron saint of Minneapolis, a sterling example for our children and indeed for us all. St. George was martyed by the Devil's agents in blue while standing on a street corner preaching tolerance and racial justice or something like that...
Smith has been identified by the Workers World Party,
...a revolutionary Marxist–Leninist-Trotskyist political party in the United States founded in 1959 by Sam Marcy of the Socialist Workers Party....
as a high school teacher, community leader and organizer with Philly REAL (Racial, Economic and Legal) Justice. They say Smith has been a 'prominent organizer' of the Black Lives Matter Movement since 2015 and has led countless marches in that time.
So prominent he is now appearing in the Rantburg archives for the first time...
"Mr. Smith was not in any way targeted by my office, I knew nothing about Mr. Smith or his affiliations until the investigation was nearly complete," McSwain said. "We do not investigate people at the US Attorney's office, we investigate alleged criminal behavior."

According to McSwain, the three men are accused of using a road flare to torch a Philadelphia police patrol car near City Hall on May 30, as violent mostly peaceful demonstrations unfolded in the city following the death of George Floyd.

Also indicted on Thursday was Ayoub Tabri,
...known to his friends as Spliff, for some reason...
a 24-year-old man from Arlington, Virginia. Tabri is alleged to have thrown a road flare into a Pennsylvania State Police SUV positioned near the on-ramp for I-676, which caused the car to become engulfed in flames. He has been charged with two counts of arson, and one count of obstructing law enforcement.

As a result of Tabri's alleged actions, McSwain said an officer who was standing near the torched vehicle was hit by a thrown road flare and his uniform caught fire. The trooper was also burned on the hand when he reached into the engulfed cruiser to retrieve a rifle to prevent it from being stolen.

If convicted, all four defendants face a mandatory minimum of seven years in prison, and a maximum possible sentence of 65 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $750,000.

"I want to be clear that we at the U.S. Attorney’s Office support peaceful protest — indeed, it is part of our job to protect First Amendment freedoms," McSwain said. "But violence is not speech. There is no right to riot, loot, rob, destroy or commit arson."

Bad jokes: the network ridiculed Kadyrov's series about Zelensky
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Ramzan Kadyrov, by publishing "humorous videos" about Vladimir Zelensky, made an attempt not only to humiliate the President of Ukraine, but also to exalt himself, netizens pointed out. Who is behind the creation of these videos, how Kadyrov is increasing his popularity in social networks, and whether parody videos will help him in this, the "Caucasian Knot" report says.

WHAT IS KADYROV JOKING ABOUT?
Since July 4, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has been publishing on the social network a series of "series" "The Adventures of Zelensky", ridiculing Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The head of Chechnya himself took part in the filming of the commercials.

Saladin: nine casualties among FP members in ISIS attack

A security source in Saladin reported that four members of the Federal police were killed, while five others were wounded, in an ISIS attack that took place earlier today, Wednesday, in Mutaybija,
...alternate spelling Matibija...
between Diyala and Saladin.

The source told Shafaq News agency that the terrorists used sniper weapons and medium weapons against the Federal police checkpoints, noting that the perpetrators fled after military reinforcements were brought to the site.

Mutaybija is one of the most dangerous ISIS sites between Diyala, Kirkuk, and Saladin. It is nicknamed the "Emirate of evil", and is still a safe hideout for the terrorists.

Perhaps it's time to kick Joe Manchin out of the Democratic party, by Robert Reich...
...Am I the only one picturing Bob holding a gun to his own head and saying, "One wrong move, and the Democrats get it!!"...?
[TheGuardian] After putting a final spear through the heart of what remained of Biden's and the Democrats' domestic agenda, West Virginia's Democratic senator Joe Manchin now rejects any tax increases on big corporations or the wealth until inflation is no longer a problem.

This is rich, in every sense of the word. Raising taxes on big American corporations and the wealthy would not fuel inflation. It would slow inflation by reducing demand; and do it in a way that wouldn't hurt lower-income Americans (such as those living in, say, West Virginia).

Manchin's state is one of the poorest in America. West Virginia ranks 45th in education, 47th in healthcare, 48th in overall prosperity and 50th in infrastructure.

Tax revenue from corporations and billionaires could be used to rebuild West Virginia, among other places that need investment around America.

But Manchin doesn’t seem to give a cluck. After all, the Democrats’ agenda — which Manchin has obliterated — included pre-K education, free community college, child subsidies, Medicare dental and vision benefits, paid family leave, elder care, and much else — all of enormous value to West Virginia. (On a per-person basis, West Virginians would have benefitted more than the residents of all but two other states.)

CNN boss wants to poach MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski: report
[NYPOST] CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
’s new boss Chris Licht is allegedly in "secret talks" to poach MSNBC mainstays Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, according to a report on Wednesday.

Licht, a longtime TV boss who previously served as executive producer on MSNBC’s "Morning Joe" and "CBS This Morning," is interested in hiring Scarborough and Brzezinski while leading an overhaul at CNN, RadarOnline.com reported, citing unnamed sources.

"When CBS hired Chris, he wanted to hire Joe and Mika to head up his morning show instead of Gayle King," one unidentified source told the outlet.

"Joe and Mika were into it, but they couldn’t get out of their deal with NBC. Now Chris is pulling the same trick again as he starts his new job at CNN hoping this time, he will be able to pull it off," according to the source.

"It is unlikely MSNBC will let them out of their contract, but Chris is a patient man," the source added.

The Post could not independently verify the report’s claims. CNN and MSNBC representatives did not immediately return a request for comment.

Quidditch announces name change amid furor over 'Harry Potter' author J.K. Rowling
[THEHILL] Three major organizations that promote and manage the sport of quidditch announced on Tuesday they are changing the name of the game to quadball, partly to distance themselves from "Harry Potter" author and quidditch creator J.K. Rowling.

The International Quidditch Association (IQA) and US Quidditch (USQ), which are governing bodies for the sport, joined Major League Quidditch (MLQ), a semi-professional league with 16 teams in the U.S. and Canada, in announcing the official name change.

Quadball, which refers to the number of balls on the field as well as the number of positions, garnered enthusiastic support among the sport’s community in surveys, according to the groups.

IQA, USQ and MLQ made the decision to rebrand for two reasons. One was to distance themselves from Rowling, who has made several comments criticized as transphobic.

The second was to trademark a unique name because film and media production company Warner Bros. owns the trademark for "quidditch."

In the U.S., both the USQ and MLQ will own the trademark for "quadball." USQ is transitioning immediately to change its organizational name to swap out quidditch for quadball, while MLQ will officially adopt quadball into its name next month.

USQ Executive Director Mary Kimball said quadball has grown significantly and the organizations were "committed to continuing to push quadball forward."

"In less than 20 years, our sport has grown from a few dozen college students in rural Vermont to a global phenomenon with thousands of players, semi-pro leagues and international championships," Kimball said in a statement.

Both USQ and MLQ filed to change the name back in December after polling both players and fans on the idea.

The IQA expects to enter into a license agreement to use "quadball" and will adopt the term into its name in the near future

#1  J.K. Rowling, is not wrong.

The name 'Quadball may just spell the end of 'Quadball' as an official sport as well as the end of the organizations themselves.

Trannies are mentally ill prople

I doubt that Warner Bros can keep the trade mark on the word 'Quidditch' anyway as they don't seem to use it for anything.

The organizations should stay out of social issues and just focus on the sport instead.

Florida babysitter burned child with pot as 'form of discipline': sheriff
[NYPOST] A Florida babysitter burned a young child with a hot pot as a "form of discipline," authorities said Wednesday.

Jennifer Nicole Posey, 29, admitted to burning a 10-year-old to "teach the child a lesson" on June 26 while caring for the youngster and two other kids, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Posey, of Sun City Center, made the victim instant ramen soup on a stovetop before the 10-year-old pretended to spill the hot broth on one of the other children, deputies said.

"In an attempt to teach the child a lesson, Posey took a hot pot, which had been used to heat the ramen approximately two minutes prior, and pressed it against the victim’s arm," sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

The child was left with a burn roughly 4 inches long. Posey, who was arrested Tuesday for aggravated child abuse, has confessed to detectives to doling out the punishment, authorities said. The victim was not hospitalized and was treated with at-home remedies.

"Children will be children, but an adult should know better than to use such great physical punishment to try to correct their bad behavior," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "This suspect’s actions were intentional, unacceptable and she will now face the consequences for inflicting unnecessary pain on a helpless child."

Wildfire rages near Athens; homes damaged, hospital evacuated
[NYPOST] A wildfire fueled by gale-force winds raged in the mountainous region of Penteli near Athens on Wednesday morning, burning homes and prompting authorities to order the evacuation of at least nine areas and a hospital.

Thick clouds of smoke darkened the sky over Mount Penteli where the fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday, some 16 miles north of central Athens.

There were no reports of injuries, the fire brigade said.

About 485 firefighters and 120 fire engines were deployed to try to tame the blaze, which was burning on several fronts. More than seven helicopters and planes were dumping water on the flames, though they had halted operations during the night for safety reasons.

Similar attempts have made it this far before, however, only to be stymied during compromises between the House and Senate versions of the bill.
That was one hundred thirty two years ago. All participants are equally dead. Will my Good Conduct medal be rescinded by Congress 132 years after I'm gone?
Some 20 soldiers received the Medal of Honor following the Dec. 29, 1890, massacre near Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota, where troops from the 7th Cavalry and accompanying artillery units killed hundreds of Lakota men, women and kiddies.

The U.S. troops had nearly completed confiscating weapons from a Lakota encampment when a struggle with a reportedly deaf man sparked a chaotic one-sided firefight.

When the smoke cleared, dozens of cavalry troopers were maimed or killed by friendly fire — likely from their artillery — and hundreds of Lakota were dead.

Rep. Kaialiʻi Kahele, D-Hawaii, was the legislation’s primary sponsor, though other members of Congress, like Sen. Elizabeth Being Native American has been part of my story since the day I was born Warren
...The Great White Squaw, Lizzie is the Dem Senatrix from Massachussetts. She traces her noble lineage all the way back to Big Chief Spouting Bull. She has high cheekbones that stretch all the way to the top of her head. It has been alleged that she speaks with forked tongue but she denies that. She had a DNA test to prove her lineage and it turns out she's colorless...
, D-Mass., and Rep. Reuben Gallego, D-Ariz., have pushed for similar legislation in the past. Kahele is a Native Hawaiian.

Pre-World War I Army Medals
The only medal that the War Department officially awarded during the Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, and Philippine Insurrection was the Medal of Honor.

However, between 1905 and 1919, the War Department authorized several campaign medals for U.S. Army service between 1861 and 1902.

The National Archives Building in Washington, DC (Archives 1), houses correspondence related to pre-World War I recipients of the Medal of Honor and recipients of Army campaign medals.

#10  The Medal of Honor in those days is not the same as it is today. As NoMoreBs pointed out, they did not have all the medals today, so people got the MOH for things that today would not even rate a Bronze Star. IIRC, everybody in one unit in the Civil War got the MOH simply for extending their enlistment.

Today, the MOH really means something. Look at Wikipedia and read the stories of MOH recipients, especially from WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, and later.

Of course Richard Byrd got the MOH just for his travels in Antarctica.

What a lovely thought, Aca Joe. The easiest way to start would be to shut down entire departments, like education and energy, but that requires an act of Congress. So does the removal of union protections. It can’t be done just by executive order.

#9  If the rest of the world doesn’t want it, Aca Joe, they should stop buying or copying our hip-hop, rock’n’roll, jazz, Blues, blue jeans, baseball caps, and movies. They should also stop trying to move here.
First, in my case regarding music I don’t listen to the trash.
The rest of the world if you travel care less about rap, rock and roll
and especially blues. Just because an American band played in another country doesn’t mean that the entire country love that music. Contrary to the rest of the world American music managers have always sabotaged any attempt to foreign music to enter the USA, and that is a fact told to me by my old friend Bob Greemberg, one of the biggest music executives in Los Angeles, now defunct.
Regarding the jeans story… 99.9 % of jeans in the world are made outside the USA , and no one considers jeans as an American pants
As for myself ever in my life I have used jeans or followed baseball
I dress Brioni or custom made by Italian tailors and I do not follow any sport
Third, I owned and payed all my investment in here.
From investments generated in another country.
Thank you and now have a nice day.

#10  I owned and payed all my investment in here.

I assumed as much, just as I assume you are not a narco-gangster, unlike some of your countrymen who have settled in this country.. Nonetheless, you have chosen to live in this country you claim is so horrible, when Spain, for instance, would be overjoyed to have you settle there, bringing your work ethic and business sense... not to mention the earnings you made in another country. Italy would sell you an entire village for a euro if you would settle there — why did you choose America instead?

But you are necessarily not typical of Mexicans or non-Americans in general, given what you have done and where you have done it.

No entire country loves any one thing, but the fact is that many American bands and movies make much of their profits overseas, well beyond the possibility that it’s a few novelty acts. This has become their music, not just America’s. It’s just that it was America’s first. Mr. Wife and I regularly go to the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tennessee, where every year a significant number of competitors are sent by Blues societies from all over the world, and many years at least one of them makes it to the final round. And since getting past the first round requires creating original songs, it is clear these bands are not merely acquiring a repertoire of American music, but have absorbed it and made it their own, forsaking local and regional musical styles.

Ditto for blue jeans. It isn’t who makes the things now, it’s where the fashion was established, and why the rest of the world adopted them as their own in preference to local styles.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

[ColonelCassad] 1. Seversk.
Fighting in the area of Serebryanka and Verkhnekamensky, processing the heights around the city, on which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are still holding.

The enemy withdrew part of the forces from the city. Reports about the capture of Seversk are still ahead of events.

The Seversk-Soledar road is controlled by the enemy, but is subjected to artillery strikes by the RF Armed Forces.

2. Soledar.
The enemy was practically ousted from Berestovoye, but so far there is no complete control over the destroyed village.

Battles near Yakovlevka, Belogorovka and Ivano-Daryevka. The enemy has completely withdrawn from Novaya Kamenka, but still continues to try to challenge the control of the RF Armed Forces over Stryapovka.
The assault on Soledar itself has not yet been carried out.

3. Artemovsk.
Fighting in Pokrovsky, part of the village is controlled by the RF Armed Forces. The capture of Pokrovsky will allow the RF Armed Forces to begin advancing to the eastern and northeastern outskirts of Artemovsk.
Fights at Veselaia Dolina, Zaitsevo, Semigorye and Uglegorsk TPP.

4. Dzerzhinsk.
Without changes. It is worth noting the work from the cabriolet of Ukrainian helicopters in the village on the outskirts of Gorlovka.

5. Avdievka.
Fighting at Novoselka-2, Kamenka, Novobakhmutovka, New York. There are no significant changes. The enemy continues to shell Donetsk and other cities. There are civilian dead. Our troops continue to work along Avdievka.

6. Slavyansk.
Fights at the Valley, Bogorodichny, Prishib, Sidorovo. No major progress yet.

The RF Armed Forces continue to inflict intensive strikes on targets in the region of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. The enemy expects the start of an offensive on Slavyansk immediately after the breakthrough of the Seversk-Soledar line, as well as a possible strike on Barvenkovo in the Izyum direction, where the front has taken on a positional character.

7. Kharkov.
In addition to the ongoing fighting near Verkhniy Saltov, Veseloe, Tsupovka and Uda, there is some movement of the RF Armed Forces towards the Pitomnik in the area of the Great Passages.

Attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkov and Chuguev continue. The enemy continues to shell Cossack Lopan, from where the evacuation of the population began. Border villages are also shelled.

8. Ugledarsk.
The front, after the recent battles for Pavlovka and Yegorovka, has now stabilized. Fighting continues in Maryinka and for Novomikhailovka. Our troops cleared Staromayorskoye and somewhat improved their positions in the area of Velikaya Novoselovka.

9. Zaporozhye.
On the line Kamenskoye-Orekhov-Gulyaipole-Velikaya Novoselovka without major changes. The enemy is preparing for activation in the Zaporizhia direction.

The RF Armed Forces launch pre-emptive missile strikes.

Today, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant with a kamikaze UAV. Radiation background is normal. The very fact itself puts on the agenda both the very vulnerability of nuclear power plants with all the ensuing consequences, and the possibility of retaliatory strikes on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine + accelerating Ukraine's disconnection from the Zaporizhzhya NPP.

10. Nikolaev.
The enemy continues to prepare for an offensive in the Krivoy Rog direction and strikes at the logistics infrastructure of the RF Armed Forces. Another blow was struck on the Antonovsky bridge, which was significantly damaged. With current trends, the bridge can be rendered unusable within 1-2 weeks.

The RF Armed Forces continue to strike at the Nikolaev grouping, inflicting significant losses on it and hindering the preparation of possible active operations in the Kherson direction.

Gauleiter Nikolaev threatens to clean up the disloyal population of Nikolaev, who on a regular basis surrenders the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the RF Armed Forces, as a result of which the enemy suffers considerable losses.

Mine-like object found in Bulgarian Black Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] Due to a signal about the discovery of a suspicious object similar to a floating mine in the Bulgarian Black Sea, the Resolute corvette and the helicopter of the Bulgarian Navy were sent to the specified region. This was reported on July 20 by the Sofia newspaper Fakty.

According to preliminary data, the incident occurred on July 19 near the Bulgarian port of Varna, when the captain of a passenger ship sailing under the Italian flag reported "an object resembling a mine." During the verification work, Bulgarian sailors recorded several unknown objects in the corresponding square.

Work in the region continues.

Recall that earlier in Sofia they did not rule out the possibility of dozens of Ukrainian sea mines appearing in Bulgarian territorial waters.

Saudi-led coalition launches three airstrikes on Dhalea province
by Emad Almarshahi

[HODHODYEMENNEWS] The Saudi-led coalition aircraft on Wednesday resumed its airstrikes on Yemen, amid international movement to extend the UN-brokered truce, which reflects efforts to undermine it.

Official military source in Sana’a stated that the coalition warplanes launched, during the past hours, three air raids on Dhalea province, southern Yemen.

The official “Saba” news agency quoted the source as saying “the raids came as part of the violations committed by the coalition factions on the fighting fronts by creating new sites and fortifications.”

The new raids come a few days after the US president ended his tour in the region, which included holding a summit in Saudi Arabia, the first since he rose to power in the United States.

Across the world, environmentalists leave only misery in their wake

#1  The Greens are an outgrowth of the late 60's environmental movement, after Love Canal and the burning river near Cleveland. It has continued to grow, as regulations are wont to do, and has been fed by media -- who has people who don't remember the 60's -- thinking the US environment is dirtier than ever before.

SCOTUS stopping the EPA from regulating CO2 (starving plants, anyone?) is a hopeful step, but just a minor bump in the road to the Greenists.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
I laced my boyfriend's condoms with habanero oil
[NYPOST] She wanted to spice up her unfaithful boyfriend’s sex life — and did so with peppery chili oil.Self-crowned "spoiled trophy wife" Augustah Hubble is now being hailed the "petty queen" of social media after virally revealing that she injected her ex’s condoms with habanero oil when she discovered he’d been cheating with her close friend.

But the vengeful vixen’s wrath didn’t stop at peppering the creep’s "community penis."

She also married his dad.

"That time I caught him cheating with my friend so I injected habanero oil in his condoms," bragged Hubble, 29, from Houston in the captions of her trending testimonial.

"He came home like the dog with his tail between his legs," she continued in the text of the video, which fetched more than 64,200 views. "[I] offered to put ice on it, and used frozen habanero ice cubes I made."

#22  For Dron:

What are habanero peppers?

At one point, the habanero (100,000 to 350,000 Scoville heat units or SHU) held the crown as the world’s hottest chili pepper, but don’t let the fact that certain chilies have passed it by fool you into underestimating it. This is a seriously hot pepper. And unlike many of the hotter chilies, there’s quite a bit of flavor to go along with the extra-hot kick. it has a unique, citrus-like taste with a subtle hint of smoke that makes it very popular in hot sauces, powders, and rubs. If you can handle the heat, this is a fun culinary chili to play with in the kitchen.

Is THIS the key to cutting carbon emissions? Scientists are developing a TRAIN that can capture CO2 from the air – and say each car could remove 3,000 TONNES per year
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Except that cutting carbon emissions is a really, really bad idea. Scientists would do better to figure out how to put more CO2 into the air, and plant more food crops to make use of it.

back in 1960 or so it was about 320 ppm and we had enough to grow flowers, trees, wheat, etc.

After a sufficient amount of CO2 has been captured in the collection chamber, it is concentrated and stored in a liquid reservoir.

The liquid can be emptied from the train at a crew change or fuelling stop to be transported into the circular carbon economy or to nearby geological landfill sites.

3000 tonnes of CO2/year sounds like about the capacity of a "Coldjet P750", (here) which needs about 17KW, which would be of order 45 panels (with some scale depending on time of day, latitude, cloudiness, etc). Panels tend to be about 1.6 square meters.

That's without trying to make this go anywhere. And the cold air output might not be friendly.

'Look, the border is secure': Alejandro Mayorkas makes stunning claim with more than 200,000 migrants passing every month for three months, the most crossings in a year in history and as DC and New York say they are feeling the strain'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The Biden administration continues to assure that the southern border is 'secure' despite record-setting numbers of illegal crossings and proliferation of the crisis over the last few months.

'Look, the border is secure,' Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Matorkas insisted during remarks at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado on Tuesday.

But he added that the administration is still 'working to make the border more secure.'

'That has been a historic challenge,' Mayorkas said, adding that there is a difference between the words 'safe' and 'secure.'

But insistence that the border is secure comes amid a prevailing rise in crossings as well as complaints from New York City and Washington, D.C. that the crisis is finally hitting home after Arizona and Texas starting busing migrants to the city hubs to deal with them.

Mortgage demand hits 22-year low as inflation, interest rates surge
[NYPOST] Demand for mortgages crashed to a multi-decade low last week as prospective homebuyers contend with surging inflation and rising interest rates, data released on Wednesday showed.

The volume of mortgage loan applications sank 6.3% for the week ending on July 15 compared to one week earlier, according to the latest weekly survey from the Mortgage Bankers Association. The index measuring activity dropped to its lowest level since 2000.

Refinance applications also declined by 4% compared to the previous week and have fallen by 80% compared to the same week one year ago, the survey found.

"Purchase activity declined for both conventional and government loans, as the weakening economic outlook, high inflation, and persistent affordability challenges are impacting buyer demand," said Joel Kan, associate vice president of economic and industry forecasting at the Mortgage Bankers Association.

"The decline in recent purchase applications aligns with slower homebuilding activity due to reduced buyer traffic and ongoing building material shortages and higher costs," Kan added.

The MBA’s purchase index, which measures the volume of applications for mortgages to buy homes, fell 7% week-over-week and 19% year-over-year.

The downtick in mortgage demand coincided with a surge in interest rates, which have nearly doubled since January as the Federal Reserve hikes its benchmark rate to combat inflation. While the Fed rate does not directly impact mortgages, all forms of borrowing are becoming more expensive on the expectation of tightened economic policy.

The average contract interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages with conforming loan balances jumped to 5.82% last week, up from 5.74% the previous week. The same mortgage had a 3.11% rate during the same week one year earlier.

At least three mercenaries injured in Aden attack
by Emad Almarshahi

[HODHODYEMENNEWS] At least three members of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias were injured on Wednesday, when gunmen attacked their police vehicle in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimonies of security sources.

According to the sources, the nmen, whom they described as “outlaws”, attacked a group belonging to the security faction that runs Dar Saad directorate while it was tracking down explosives, which resulted in the injury of three soldiers and destruction of their vehicle.

The source claimed that the security forces have arrested perpetrators and referred them to prosecution.

Dar Saad district has been witnessing conflicts between various factions. The border directorate between Lahj and Aden recently witnessed clashes and mutual attacks between the Security Belt forces and the faction of security director Musleh al-Tharhani.

Al-Tharhani forces also recently clashed with the so-called Al-Amaliqa Brigades over the issue of raising Yemeni flags.

Social media appear to be planning to censor the truth about the Democrats prior to the November election
[AmericanThinker] Social media apparently are planning on turbo-charging the censoring of conservative voices — particularly ones who criticize Democrats — leading up to the midterm elections. How do I know this? What happened to me on Twitter last weekend cannot be an accident and is enough evidence for me. That's how.

What I am about to report is anecdotal. But from little anecdotes, great forests of fake news and censorship can grow.

Last weekend, I read an article at Yahoo News that was originally published at the certifiably left-wing site The Daily Beast. The article's title was "'Shocking' Monkeypox Screw-Up Means We Need to Admit We Now Face Two Pandemics." The message was clear: another major pandemic is imminent, and the federal government and the tail wagging the dog — the medical establishment — will soon be unveiling draconian plans to combat it, similar to what went down for two years with COVID-19.

76-year-old punched in back of head by woman spouting anti-Asian comments: cops
[NYPOST] A 76-year-old was punched in the back of the head by a woman who spewed an anti-Asian statement at her in East Harlem in an unprovoked attack Wednesday morning, cops said.

"I hate Koreans!" the attacker yelled as she punched the woman in the head with a closed fist around 10:45 a.m. at 112th Street and Third Avenue, cops said.

Cops arrived and arrested the attacker, police said. Charges against her were pending and her name wasn’t immediately released.

The victim refused medical treatment.

Hate crimes were up 12.6% so far this year, to 348 from 309 in the same period last year, according to the most recent NYPD data released Monday.

The city has seen a rise in hate crimes against Asian and Jewish Americans in recent years.

Up-to-date statistics for those groups weren’t immediately available.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: July 20th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:26 The European Union has allocated another 500 million euros to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Borrell said.

23:22 The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, and the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, warned Iran against helping Russia in the war against Ukraine. In particular, they warned Iran against supplying UAVs to Russia. "I don't think it's a good idea that Iran is supplying UAVs or other weapons systems that are being commented on in the Russian media. And we'll see where it all goes," Milli said.

23:06 Reznikov, after a meeting in the Ramstein format, said that representatives of a number of countries stated in plain text that there was and would not be any "weariness" from the war in Ukraine: "Many partners are ready to train our soldiers. The Antonovsky Bridge is one of two Dnieper crossing points where Russia can supply or withdraw its troops to the territory it has occupied west of the river. This zone includes Kherson, which has political and symbolic significance for Russia. There, the course of the Dnieper is a natural barrier, the width of the waterway is about 1000 m.

Such actions threaten Ukraine and its partners with a nuclear attack if Ukrainian counteroffensives to liberate Russian-occupied territory continue, the ISW warned.

At the same time, experts remind that Russia's previous hints about Moscow's readiness to use nuclear weapons turned out to be empty. Ukraine and Western partners are left with an increasingly narrow window of opportunity to support a Ukrainian counter-offensive into Ukraine's occupied territories until Russia annexes them, analysts say.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The defense announces an appeal against the verdict for Cheldiev, Besolov and Chirkinov
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The defense plans to seek the acquittal of Vadim Cheldiev, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the case of incitement to riots in Vladikavkaz, the lawyer of the other two convicts also intends to appeal the sentences. The verdict against Cheldiev is connected with the fight against dissent, activist Indira Gabolaeva, journalist Ruslan Totrov and blogger Alik Pukhaev suggested.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 19, the Rostov Regional Court sentenced Vadim Cheldiev to 10 years in a strict regime colony, finding him guilty of inciting extremism. Two other defendants, Arsen Besolov and Ramis Chirkinov, were sentenced to eight years in prison.

The investigation considered Vadim Cheldiev the initiator of the rally of opponents of the self-isolation regime. He was charged under four criminal articles, Cheldiev was included in the list of extremists compiled by Rosfinmonitoring. The prosecution could not prove that it was Cheldiev, Chirkinov and Besolov who organized the riots, Cheldiev's lawyer Batraz Kulchiev said earlier. The defendants pleaded not guilty.

Lawyers for the defendants intend to appeal the verdict.

The defense plans to file an appeal against Cheldiev's sentence, Batraz Kulchiev said . "The verdict will be appealed. The defense does not recognize Cheldiev's guilt, insists on a full acquittal," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the lawyer, the verdict does not indicate Cheldiev's motive for organizing the riots. Cheldiev was also accused of aggression against the police officers who took him to the investigator in Rostov-on-Don, the lawyer said, adding that the security forces testified in court via video link.

Cheldiev was accused of organizing mass riots, publicly disseminating false information about circumstances that pose a threat to the life and safety of citizens, publicly calling for extremist activities using the Internet, and using violence against a government official that is not dangerous to life or health.

Chirkinov and Besolov were charged with organizing riots. In October 2021, the defense demanded that the case be returned to the prosecutor's office on the grounds that the investigation did not name the motive for the crime of an extremist nature, as required by the decision of the Plenum of the Supreme Court.

The sentences of Besolov and Chirkinov will also be appealed, their lawyer Kamilla Dzotsieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.. "The defense intends to appeal the verdict. All three are accused of organizing mass riots. Arsen and Ramis were chat administrators. During the trial, none of the witnesses and victims spoke about the coordination of the actions of the guys who threw themselves at employees [during the riots]. Everyone spoke that these were actions "in response to the actions of employees to oust people from the square". No one directed them, trained them or prepared them for mass riots. Almost none of the throwers was a member of the chat. Vadim, Arsen and Ramis each other they didn’t know personally and met after a year of detention, in a court session on changing jurisdiction. All lawyers tried to show the court the absence of the elements of the alleged crime as much as possible. An appeal is ahead," she said.

According to the indictment, Vadim Cheldiev, while in St. Petersburg and using the authority of an opera singer and a blogger in opposition to the North Ossetian authorities, posted a video message calling for people to gather in Vladikavkaz and "disperse the government and private companies that terrorize the people to hell."

This appeal was immediately qualified by the investigation both as an organization of riots and as calls for extremism. Cheldiev also published two video messages in which he questioned information about the coronavirus. Cheldiev's appeal about the gathering was supported by Ramis Chirkinov and Arsen Besolov, who, according to the investigation, were the administrators of the Freedom and Honor Telegram chat.

The harsh sentence of Cheldiev provoked criticism in Ossetia

An activist from North Ossetia, Indira Gabolaeva, saw political overtones in Cheldiev's verdict. "The court delivered a guilty verdict in the presence of legal grounds for sending the case for further investigation and even termination under certain articles. This suggests that the verdict is political. Representatives of the bodies that lobbied for such a decision do not realize that in the emerging political realities they are causing serious harm to the state. To ignore the opinion of a small people who are losing their already small number of young people in a special military operation, and to make them feel unfair and disrespectful on the part of the federal government is anti-state activity," she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

A similar opinion was expressed by the political editor of the publication "OsNova" Ruslan Totrov.

"We have witnessed a classic state intimidation. The system does not like it very much when an individual or a group of people try to interfere in its affairs […], therefore, punishments are, as a rule, exclusively indicative," the journalist told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The case of Cheldiev did not find support among the majority of the inhabitants of Ossetia, Totrov believes.

"The fading of interest in the case was because it is quite difficult to maintain the fire constantly. […] Sympathetically, the inhabitants of the republic clicked their tongues, shook their heads ... The repressive policy of the state in recent years against any dissent just allows the authorities to quite successfully reap the rewards," Totrov said.

Blogger Alik Pukhaev called Cheldiev's sentence unfair.

“There is no question that the punishment was commensurate with the crime in this case. Because the crime as such did not occur... 10 years - note of the "Caucasian Knot" ), in Ossetia the prosecutor Igor Cheldiev received the same term for murder ( the prosecutor Cheldiev was sentenced to 10 years in prison, he was initially charged with murder, but the court reclassified the charge. - Note of the "Caucasian Knot" "). That is, in our country people are imprisoned for murder for lesser terms or for the same ones, but Vadim did not kill anyone," the blogger told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Recall that on April 20, 2020, the security forces dispersed a rally from Freedom Square in Vladikavkaz, the participants of which demanded that the self-isolation regime be lifted and the government, parliament and head of North Ossetia be dismissed. According to investigators, 13 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard were injured at the spontaneous rally.

On July 28, 2021, the Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced five people to terms in a colony accused of involvement in the riots in Vladikavkaz. On July 7, 2022, a court in Rostov-on-Don found five more participants in the rally guilty of participating in mass riots and sentenced them to imprisonment.

In turn, Vadim Cheldiev stated that the security forces began to persecute him long before his arrest in 2020, trying, in particular, to interfere with the charitable activities of the Iron Ziu movement. Cheldiev also reported that he left North Ossetia after learning about plans to plant drugs on him. Vadim Cheldiev was also one of the initiators of the protests demanding the closure of the Electrozinc plant, according to a biographical note about Vadim Cheldiev published on the "Caucasian Knot".

Government Corruption
Kathy Hochul's high-flying corruption
[NYPOST] Gov. Kathy Hochul is going first-class in her run to remain New York governor. A Post analysis shows she flew aboard state-owned planes and helicopters a whopping 140 times between August 2021 and March 2022.

Hochul’s taxpayer-funded flights cost upward of $170,000 and more as the frequency of her air travel has increased and the cost of jet fuel has soared.

One flight aboard the State Police-operated Sikorsky 76D chopper and the Beechcraft King Air plane costs taxpayers about $2,500 and $1,300 per hour, respectively. And one of her "official" flights included a roundtrip to see the Buffalo Bills home opener last September.

In more ways than one, this gov is copying her disgraced predecessor, Andrew Sonny Cuomo, who also accumulated questionable frequent-flyer miles on state-owned aircraft.

Her exploitation of her office has been shameless. New Yorkers struggle to fill their gas tanks, while our high-flying governor travels above it all at their expense — for trips that have helped her raise tens of millions from favor-seekers and lobbyists.
