Video shows children in Texas taking oath to be 'martyrs' for Iran's supreme leader
[JustTheNews] Iranian regime uses Islamic centers abroad to spread anti-American message, recruit operatives.

A video of kids at an Islamic center in Houston, Texas pledging their allegiance to the supreme leader of Iran is setting off alarm bells among experts, who are warning this has all the signs of the Iranian regime's global indoctrination efforts to spread its revolutionary ideology and recruit operatives abroad.

The viral video was initially posted to YouTube and Facebook last week by the Islamic Education Center of Houston (IEC), which organized the event calling on parents to bring children aged 4-14, according to its social media pages. The original video posts were later removed, but clips remain online.

#1  YJCMTSU! The entire Iranian forbearance in acts of domestic terrorism in the US has been their expectation of billions in cash from the preposterous negotiations to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). This is the cadre they have been growing here for Direct Action after that risible effort is finished, however it plays out. A cancer in the heart of the "Great Satan" while the EFFBEYE looks for MVE under every Betsy Ross Flag.

North Carolina County Adds AR-15s to Schools for Classroom Defense
[Breitbart] North Carolina’s Madison County School District has put an AR-15 in a safe in every school in the county so the guns can be accessed for classroom defense in case of attack.

The Citizen Times notes that Madison County schools will also have breaching tools and extra magazines of ammunition for the rifles.

The county’s decision was framed as a response to the May 24 Uvalde, Texas, attack.

USA Today reported that Madison County Sheriff Buddy Harwood pushed for the AR-15s following the attack, pointing out that he did not want evil people to be able to enter the school and hole up in a classroom with officers powerless to act.

Harwood said, “Hopefully we’ll never need it, but I want my guys to be as prepared as prepared can be.”

“We were able to put an AR-15 rifle and safe in all of our schools in the county. We’ve also got breaching tools to go into those safes. We’ve got extra magazines with ammo in those safes,” Harwood explained.

“In the event we have someone barricaded in a door, we won’t have to wait on the fire department. We’ll have those tools to be able to breach that door if needed. I do not want to have to run back out to the car to grab an AR, because that’s time lost.”

Fears serial killer targeting Muslims has struck AGAIN: Fourth Muslim man is gunned down in Albuquerque as community leaders say 'we fear for the safety of our children and our families'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Parked in Lurid Crimes, Page 3: Non-WoT unless further information indicates it was actually War on Terror stuff.
  • Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina confirmed that a fourth Muslim man was murdered as the FBI investigates the possibility of a serial killer

  • It follows the fatal shootings of three other Muslim men within a five-mile radius of each other in New Mexico over the last nine months

  • The first victim was Afghan chef Mohammad Ahmadi, 62, found outside the cafe he ran with his brother - Ariana Halal Market & Cafe - on November 7
...the brothers emigrated to the U.S. with their father in the 1980s.
  • The second was 41-year-old Pakistani-born restaurant busser Aftab Hussein, who moved to New Mexico in 2016
...recently engaged to a girl back home, was saving up to bring her here
  • On Monday the third victim was killed: 27-year-old city planner and community organizer Muhammad Afzaal Hussain, also originally from Pakistan
...came in 2017 for grad school, then stayed, joined by his brother and his brother’s kids.
  • Medina said police would be increasing patrol in Muslim neighborhoods

#12  I don't think it is Islamic terror because they usually go for one big slaughter where they die along with the victims. Other than Malvo there is little of the Dexter stuff in the Islamic killing. It is more of an ADD thing.
Once you rule out Islamic terror, you are kind of in the realm of a demonic predator. Undoubtably, we will be adding the "known by law enforcement" cliche to the recipe retrospectively.

:-) One wonders if it was all attacks of opportunity, or if they all happen go to the same Af-Pak mosque. Also, does the surname Ahmadi mean he is one, as opposed to a “proper” Moslem?

#14  In Afghani pashtuns, Ahmadi may be a surname for even Sunnis, TW. It's a farsi name, and even Iranians have it. But yes, heay be an ahmediyys too.

Yes, the Sherlocks will definitely see which masjid they went to. They should also check whether they had any gay tendencies since it could well be a moslem serial killer. Why not?

Karine Jean-Pierre: Supreme Court overturning Roe was 'an unconstitutional action'
[Red State] As Inigo Montoya might have said: She keeps using that word. I do not think it means what she thinks it means. Karine Jean-Pierre argued yesterday that the Supreme Court violated the Constitution in reversing their own decision in Roe in an attempt to fend off a question about the timing of Joe Biden’s EO on abortion costs. When a reporter wondered aloud why it took Biden three months after the leak of the Dobbs draft and then six weeks after its official publication to issue this EO, Jean-Pierre insisted that Biden’s been all over it since "day one."

That’s risible enough, but the KJP Con Law Lesson is the real gasser:

Blinken heads to Africa ‘to counter Russian influence' on the continent
[France24] US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrives in South Africa on Sunday to kick off a three-country tour that will also take him to DR Congo and Rwanda, aimed at "developing a strategy to counter Russian efforts to undermine democracy in Africa", according to a France-based political scientist.
Could a better example of an oxymoron be found than "South African Democracy?"
Russia, France, and now the US. "It's like a new Cold War is playing out in Africa," William Gumede, director of Democracy Works, told AP, ahead of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's three-nation African tour.

It follows the tours of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who visited Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia and the Republic of Congo to rally support for Russia amid its ongoing war in Ukraine, and of French President Emmanuel Macron, who visited Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau with the aim of renewing France’s relations with the African continent. US Agency for International Development head Samantha Power and US ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield also embarked on Africa tours of their own.
Be sure to get back to us on exactly what was accomplished on these trips. Stopovers in Paris possibly ?
The trip is Blinken’s second to Africa since being appointed secretary of state. His first visit in November 2021 was aimed at "resetting US-African relations following Donald Trump’s presidency, demonstrating the US’ commitment to democracy and showing that the US cares about its relationship with African countries", according to Douglas Yates, a political scientist specialised in African politics who teaches at the American Graduate School in Paris.

Blinken visited Kenya, Senegal and Nigeria during his 2021 tour, three countries that "meet the minimum requirements for democracies and have all come out of military rule," Yates said.
"Meeting minimum requirement" really is the key.
Since Trump’s presidential term, during which the US pulled out from a number of initiatives important to South Africa, including the Paris Climate Agreement and the Green Climate Fund, South Africa has seen the US as an "unreliable partner", Yates said.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Of course, it was an illegal alien who committed these vile, grotesque crimes
Responding to this story from three days ago.
[American Thinker] Last week, an awful story came out of Alabama: a 12-year-old girl who had been kidnapped gnawed through her restraints, escaped, and brought the authorities to the home of José Paulino Pascual-Reyes. When law enforcement arrived, they found the bodies of a woman and a boy under 14. My browser history shows that, the moment I read the story, I started searching for the words "illegal," "alien," and "deported." The combination of Pascual-Reyes's name and the crime was enough to make all the signals in my brain ping...and damned if I wasn't right. Of course he was an illegal alien.

Since Wednesday, we have more details about what Pascual-Reyes is alleged to have done, and it's stomach-churning:
According to arrest warrants obtained by CBS affiliate WRBL, investigators believe Reyes killed his girlfriend, Sandra Vazquez Ceja, by smothering her with a pillow. Reyes is also charged with killing Ceja's son, who was younger than 14, by striking him with his hands and feet. The boy's full name has not been released.

Both bodies were cut into small pieces at the joints to hide evidence.

Add to that horrific narrative the 12-year-old girl (who was the daughter and sister, respectively, of the murdered victims) whom Pascual-Reyes had tied up in the house, and it's a singularly nauseating crime story.

The question you may be asking yourself at this point is why I instantly assumed that Pascual-Reyes was here illegally. Am I that much of a racist? I hope not. I think I'm just someone who recognizes patterns.

Government Corruption
Increasing The IRS Annual Budget By Seven Times Doesn't Add Up
[American Thinker] The talk in the media is about a "beefed-up" IRS. The IRS budget for FY 2022 totals nearly $14 billion ($11.9 billion in appropriated funds) with a full-time equivalent (FTE) staff ceiling of 79,808 (75,533 from appropriated funding.)

Now, the Democrat-controlled Congress, at the behest of the Biden Administration, wants to take that up an additional almost $80 billion, with 1% going to Department of the Treasury offices other than the IRS. That adds up to nearly $93 billion, seven times this year’s budget. SEVEN TIMES.

In addition, Democrats want to add in another 86,852 FTEs, more than doubling the staffing to 166,660. These positions are described as "new, specialized enforcement staff." See page 17 of the American Families Plan Tax Compliance Agenda for more. The increased funding and staffing are designed to restore IRS enforcement capability through a sustained rebuilding of the IRS.

According to IRS data, staffing was at a peak in 1995 at 114,064 FTEs. That was before automation, common use internet, and e-filing. Data processing took more than a quarter of all staff.

Within two years, the data processing staff was cut in half—no surprise there—and disappeared altogether as a category a couple of years later. As banking became more automated, collections staff numbers other than revenue officers were reduced by two-thirds. With the advent of e-filing, the filing and account management staff declined. Staffing has been more or less at today’s level for a decade, which is eminently reasonable as more sophisticated automation is available to both the IRS and the taxpayer. Under these circumstances, the IRS will not be rebuilding its old structure nor restoring anything that may have been lost. So, what’s going on?

Something doesn’t add up. We know through observing Biden Administration and Congressional activities over the past half year that it takes about $80 billion to cover our costs for a proxy war between the US/NATO and another nuclear power.

While practice doesn’t always make perfect, it certainly sets a pattern. Now, the same actors plan to spend $80 billion going after unpaid income taxes. However, it looks more like Biden and his pet Congresscritters are about to fund a war on We the People.

Remember when Federal Income Law (16th) was passed it actually taxed less than 1 percent of the US population, and they paid income taxes at only 1 percent of net income.

-Land of the Free
The Point of No Return By Dr. Thomas Sowell
[Creators] This is an election year. But the issues this year are not about Democrats and Republicans. The big issue is whether this nation has degenerated to a point of no return — a point where we risk destroying ourselves, before our enemies can destroy us.

If there is one moment that symbolized our degeneration, it was when an enraged mob gathered in front of the Supreme Court and a leader of the United States Senate shouted threats against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, saying "You won't know what hit you!"

There have always been irresponsible demagogues. But there was once a time when anyone who shouted threats to a Supreme Court Justice would see the end of his own political career, and could not show his face in decent society again.

You either believe in laws or you believe in mob rule. It doesn't matter whether you agree with the law or agree with the mob on some particular issue. If threats of violence against judges — and publishing where a judge's children go to school — is the way to settle issues, then there is not much point in having elections or laws.

There is also not much point in expecting to have freedom. Threats and violence were the way the Nazis came to power in Germany. Freedom is not free. If you can't be bothered to vote against storm-trooper tactics — regardless of who engages in them, or over what issue — then you can forfeit your freedom.

Worse yet, you can forfeit the freedom of generations not yet born.

Some people seem to think that the Supreme Court has banned abortions. It has done nothing of the sort.

The Supreme Court has in fact done something very different, something long overdue and potentially historic. It has said that their own court had no business making policy decisions which nothing in the Constitution gave them the authority to make.

Gaza Terror Group Misfires; Rocket Lands on Palestinian House
See here for links to all of today’s posts on Operation Breaking Dawn.
[Breitbart] A rocket launched by Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip on Saturday fell short of its target in Israel and hit a Palestinian home within the Strip, killing several children, Israeli military officials said.

Palestinian media blamed Israel for the strike near a mosque in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, which saw seven people killed altogether, including four children.

But Israel Defense Forces officials said that no strike had been carried out in that area and further added that the military’s rocket detection system clearly showed the rocket being launched only to misfire and end up exploding inside the refugee camp.

"On our radar, we see the launch and impact and can see it was them failing and hitting themselves," a spokesman said.

A second official said: "We have videos that prove beyond doubt that this is not an Israeli attack. It has been unequivocally proven that it was a failed Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket launch."

Israel’s Channel 12 broadcast a video showing the botched rocket launch.

-Land of the Free
Mary Hopkin Those were the days lyrics

Wow.

Reading up on the song:

This song, the original, was written back in 1924 in Soviet Russia. It was covered by many Russian/Soviet female singers through the years. It was given new lyrics and recorded by Mary Hopkin in the 1970s.

The Wikipedia entry calls it a romance. I call it a love lament. The original lyrics are quite captivating.

Lyrics of the original:

We rode on a troika with bells,
And lights flickered in the distance.
Oh, when I would now follow you,
I would dispel my soul from longing!

Chorus:
On a long road, but on a moonlit night,
Yes, with that song that flies into the distance, ringing,
Yes, with an old one, but with a seven-string,
Which torments me so much at night.
Yes, it turns out, we sang for free.
Night after night they burned in vain.
If we have done away with the old,
So these nights have departed!

Chorus.
To a different distance - in new ways -
We are destined to go by fate!
We rode on a troika with bells,
Yes, now we drove a long time ago.

Chorus.
Nobody needs me now
If my sick life breaks,
you take me to bury.
Chorus.

Admiralty stops printing paper nautical charts after 222 years
[MSN] Since the first maritime maps were printed by the department of the Admiralty 222 years ago, they have been a mainstay of vessels across the world.

Nearly two centuries after hydrographer Alexander Dalrymple’s charts were first produced from copper plates in 1800, the blue and yellow maps represent the global standard for nautical navigation, from naval tankers to pleasure yachts.

When I own a physical object that imparts factual information, it is secure, tangible, readily available, and uncontrolled by any external entity. It reflects the best knowledge of that moment (or should if I'm circumspect in its purchase). I have its content securely.

When I rely exclusively on electronic content for the same material, I face a far less secure level of confidence regarding its availability at all times, and its reliability to be consistent going forward. It is subject to blockage at times of critical need, or modification by some external source. In other words, I am at risk of it being unreliable or subject to disruption.

It is foolish to abandon the skills of past secure information for the world of electrons exclusively, for reasons apparent to thoughtful and cynical minds like mine. Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Day 3: IDF: All senior Islamic Jihad officials in Gaza eliminated, 350+ Gaza rockets went up
Day 2 here (links to all the day’s posts), Day 1 here. Today’s posts: here, here, here, here, and here.
[JPost] IDF states that children in Jabaliya refugee camp killed by failed Islamic Jihad rocket launch, not by IDF airstrikes.

The IDF confirmed on Saturday night that senior Islamic Jihad operative Khaled Mansour had been eliminated by an IDF airstrike and that to the best of their knowledge, all senior Islamic Jihad officials in Gaza had been taken down as well.

Sirens blared in Tel Aviv on Saturday evening as the IDF continues Operation Breaking Dawn against Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip as more than 350 rockets were launched toward Israel in the first full day of fighting between the two groups.

The IDF confirmed that it was striking unspecified targets in Gaza on Saturday night, with blasts heard in Rafah.

Head of the Operations Directorate Maj.-Gen. Oded Basiuk confirmed late Saturday night that senior Islamic Jihad operative Khaled Mansour was the target of the strikes and had been eliminated. Further, he added that "according to our intelligence...all of the senior security operatives of Gaza's Islamic Jihad have been eliminated."

The IDF continued to strike cells that had been planning to fire mortar shells as well as rocket launching sites after they fired toward Israeli communities near the border. Several Palestinian operatives belonging to Islamic Jihad were killed and injured in the strikes.

According to reports in Gaza, several civilians were killed including a 5-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman, and at least 125 more were injured.

An explosion in Jabaliya on Saturday night killed at least nine people, including at least four children.

Despite initial reports stating that the deaths had been caused by an IDF strike, IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Ran Kohav said that the civilians including the children who were killed seem to be because of a failed rocket launch that came shortly before a rocket barrage. "We did not launch strikes at that time," he said.

#5  From today’s liveblog:

Islamic Jihad confirms ceasefire deal with Israel; truce expected to begin at 11:30 p.m.

Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza say they have agreed to a Cairo-brokered ceasefire to end three days of intense conflict with Israel.

“A short while ago, the wording of the Egyptian truce agreement was reached, which contains Egypt’s commitment to work towards the release of two prisoners, (Bassem) al-Saadi and (Khalil) Awawdeh,” senior Islamic Jihad member Mohammad al-Hindi says in a statement.

Saadi, Islamic Jihad’s leader in the West Bank, was recently arrested in Jenin, while Awawdeh is also in Israeli custody.

The ceasefire is expected to begin at 11:30 p.m. There is no Israeli confirmation of the deal.

Meanwhile, authorities in the Hamas-run enclave report at least 41 Palestinians have been killed since the start of fighting last week.

Heading toward 1000 rockets/morters shot off in Gaza, 160 of which landed on Gazan heads. Iron Dome intercepted 300, a 96% success rate.

Three hours ago PM Lapid announced Israel has accomplished the goals set for Operation Breaking Dawn. Mowing the lawn, indeed — it’s just over a year since the last round with Hamas.

But who signed off on the PIJ side if all the senior security operatives — whatever that means — are dead?

Turkish Forces Renew Shelling Villages In Syria’s North
Aug 5, 2022
[NPASyria] On Friday, Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions shelled a village in the northwestern countryside of Manbij in Aleppo eastern countryside.

Manbij Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said that the Turkish forces and their opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), targeted the village of Arab Hassan with mortar shells.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency published a statement saying that the organization’s militants had beheaded a former SDF fighter and seized his motorbike.

It added that the reason behind the killing was his former service with the SDF and fighting against ISIS in the battle of Baghouz five years ago.

A local source from the village of Abraha, east of Deir ez-Zor, said that the residents there found the body of the beheaded young man Zidan al-Fhaiman, who hails from the village, near the popular market there.

The source added that the residents found a piece of paper with the body, in which the terrorist organization claimed the killing and explained that it was on charges of fighting against them in the battle of Baghouz.

There aren't.

A dear friend of mine - lost him to the goddamned bat flu - was a strategic analyst by trade, and when people would start talking about how vulnerable to EMP we were, his response would be, "If it's so easy, why hasn't anyone done it yet?" (FWIW, he also used that reply when told how easy it was to smuggle in a nuclear warhead and detonate it.) The bottom line is that it will take multiple warheads at multiple points across the US in a precise time and pattern to do this kind of thing, and the electronics that count - the ones that control and execute our response - won't be effected or be minimally so.

Now, solar storms are something else - a worst case scenario would be constant EMP level blasts across the entire planet for days, and since we understand so little about them (See also The Carrington Event) it's entirely possible that a bad enough storm will drop Earth back to about an 1870s tech level in a few hours.

Cyber
Censored doctors join AGs' lawsuit against feds for Big Tech collusion, new officials sued
[JustTheNews] Louisiana and Missouri legal effort boosted by revelation of CDC communications with social media companies, DHS whistleblower on Disinformation Governance Board's scope. Suit incorporates new federal threats for not censoring climate, abortion disinformation.

The plaintiff list is growing longer in a lawsuit alleging Biden administration collusion with Big Tech in censoring wrongthink on COVID-19, election integrity and Hunter Biden's business dealings. Two of the three authors of the anti-lockdown Great Barrington Declaration, Stanford Medicine health policy professor Jay Bhattacharya and vaccine safety pioneer Martin Kulldorff, joined the amended lawsuit filed by Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and Missouri AG Eric Schmitt. Also joining were bioethicist Aaron Kheriaty, who unsuccessfully sued the University of California for firing him for not getting a COVID vaccine, and Jill Hines, codirector of Health Freedom Louisiana and a founder of Reopen Louisiana.

All four are clients of the New Civil Liberties Alliance. The public interest law firm is separately trying to resurrect its dismissed Big Tech collusion suit on behalf of other clients by citing the communications between the feds and social media companies recently published by America First Legal, NCLA attorney Jenin Younes told Just the News.

Gateway Pundit founder Jim Hoft also joined the AGs' lawsuit, represented by lawyer Jonathon Burns. The five have all experienced "significant" or "extensive government-induced censorship" of their social media speech, the amended complaint says.

Three weeks ago, a federal court authorized discovery in the case, a First Amendment and Administrative Procedure Act challenge.

The declaration by Kulldorff, a Harvard professor of 10 years until last fall, recounts his experience as a frequent censorship target during the pandemic. When then-National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins called for a "quick and devastating published take down" of the "fringe epidemiologists" who wrote the Great Barrington Declaration, it spurred "an organized campaign" that slurred and defamed the authors, he said.

Google "deboost[ed] search results" for the document days after Collins' directive, Facebook removed its page for a week for calling for age- and risk-based vaccine priority, LinkedIn censored Kulldorff's posts, and YouTube took down his COVID roundtable with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Twitter sanctioned his account for saying naturally immune people don't need COVID vaccines and masks didn't protect elderly people from COVID, and quoting a black studies professor who wrote about "the historical use of enforced mask use among enslaved populations."

"The most devastating consequence of censoring is ... the reluctance of scientists to openly express and debate scientific questions using their varied scientific expertise," he wrote.

Bhattacharya's declaration said Collins' directive produced "a relentless covert campaign of social-media censorship" — against himself and coauthor Suneptra Gupta of Oxford, among others — that was "politically driven by government actors" to protect their narrative that "there was no dissent" on COVID mitigations.

Kheriaty said that although Twitter has repeatedly throttled his account, the platform "drives most of the traffic to my Substack newsletter, which has become a significant source of personal income for me after losing my job at the University — income that supports my wife and five children."

The COVID-recovered psychiatrist said his "following started growing much faster than usual" after billionaire Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter, but when the deal started "hitting roadblocks, the pattern suddenly reverted and the growth of my following slowed again to the usual snail's pace."

He has also become more careful even speaking about his academic specialty of medical ethics. "The pattern of content censored on these social media platforms mirrors closely the CDC and Biden administration policies," said Kheriaty, who is waiting for the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to give him a date for oral argument in the UC firing appeal.

New federal officials were added as defendants based on the CDC documents published by AFL and an earlier whistleblower who exposed the full intended scope of the Department of Homeland Security's now-shelved Disinformation Governance Board (DGB).

CDC digital branch chief Carol Crawford organized "Be on the Lookout" meetings with social media companies that suggested types of speech to censor and referred Twitter officials to Census Bureau senior advisor Jennifer Shopkorn to get details on misinformation that concerned the feds.

CDC and Census officials including Crawford and Shopkorn are also believed to have been "onboarded" onto Facebook's special "channel" for reporting misinformation, the suit says.

DHS Undersecretary Robert Silvers and Senior Counsel for National Security Samantha Vinograd joined their former colleague Nina Jankowicz, the inaugural pick to lead the DGB, as defendants.

Whistleblower documents showed the board was created to "oversee the massive censorship program" against speech on disfavored topics across the federal government, the complaint says.

In a Sept. 13 memo to defendant Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Silvers and Vinograd recommended the board's creation to combat "[c]onspiracy theories" about elections and disinformation on COVID's origin and mask and vaccine efficacy. They also noted DHS' Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency was reporting purported disinformation to social media platforms a year earlier, in the runup to the 2020 election.

The CDC and DHS documents "demonstrate beyond any possible doubt that Defendants are directly involved in and are directing social-media censorship decisions, both by identifying high-level topics of censorship and by identifying specific posts and types of postings for censorship," according to the suit.

They've gone even further since the suit was filed, with another new defendant, White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, "publicly demand[ing] that social-media platforms engage in censorship and suppression of speech that contradicts federal officials' preferred narratives on climate change."

Tech platforms must "stop allowing specific individuals over and over again to spread disinformation," she told Axios, thanking Congress for "trying to hold companies accountable" for not censoring more, possibly referring to proposed revocation of Section 230 immunity.

Two days later, the Biden administration announced a new task force to address "gendered disinformation" and "disinformation campaigns targeting women and LGBTQI+ individuals" who are public figures, activists and journalists, which the suit calls unconstitutionally vague.

The task force would recommend "policies, regulatory actions, and legislation" to President Biden "on technology sector accountability to address systemic harms to people affected by online harassment and abuse."

This was quickly followed by congressional Democrats demanding Google censor and hide results for pro-life pregnancy centers, and Biden signing an executive order directing federal agencies to propose ways to "curb the spread of misinformation related to abortion," the suit says.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Operation Breaking Dawn: Will Hamas join the fight?
See here for links to all of today’s posts on Operation Breaking Dawn.
[JPost] Hamas, as the ruling authority in the Gaza Strip, has so far not fired any rockets toward Israel, choosing instead to stay out of the conflict between the IDF and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The military said that the group is currently sitting on the fence, and hopes the designated terror group will stay out of the fighting.

In 2019 when the IDF launched Operation Black Belt after targeting Baha Abu al-Ata, the group’s leader in the northern Gaza Strip, Hamas refrained from taking part in the fighting between the Israeli military and Islamic Jihad.

The operation lasted 48 hours and saw the terror group fire 450 rockets at Israel.

Jerusalem hopes that circumstances within the Strip, including the responsibility Hamas has to the residents of Gaza, will prevent them from firing rockets as well.

But there are some circumstances that could bring the terror group into the fighting.

If a Hamas member is killed in an Israeli airstrike, the group will likely retaliate with rocket fire.

With the Jewish holiday of Tisha Be’av on Sunday, a large number of Jews are expected to visit the Temple Mount. Should there be any clashes on the holy site, there are concerns that Hamas will feel the need to enter the fighting in order to show that it is the protector of al-Aqsa Mosque on the site.

Prime Minister Yair Lapid said Friday that Israel “won’t allow terrorist organizations to set the agenda in the Gaza Strip and threaten the citizens of the State of Israel. Anyone who wants to harm Israel must know that we will get to them. Security forces will act against the Islamic Jihad terrorists to remove the threat from the citizens of Israel.”

Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that the goal is to protect Israeli communities and citizens. “We will not allow anyone to threaten or harm the citizens of Israel. Whoever tries will be hurt.”

He warned earlier during a visit to the IDF’s Southern Command that the threat posed by the group would be dealt with.

“The situation in which several terrorists – some of which are not even located in this area – hold the Gazan people hostage will backfire.”
Defense Minister Benny Gantz

“To our enemies, and specifically to the leadership of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, I would like to emphasize: Your time is up,” the defense minister said. “The threat [in this region] will be removed one way or another.”

During his visit, he held a situational assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi, head of the southern Command Maj.-Gen. Eliezer Toledano, Commander of the Gaza Division Brig.-Gen. Nimrod Aloni and Ronen Bar, head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).

“The situation in which several terrorists – some of whom are not even located in this area – hold the Gazan people hostage will backfire,” Gantz warned.

Islamic Jihad is an Iranian proxy which, unlike Hamas, does not have any responsibility for the citizens of Gaza. The Islamic Republic funds and equips the Gaza-based terror group.

The group’s chief Ziyad Nakhalah, who is based in Damascus, met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran on Thursday and with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Hossein Salami on Saturday.

“The Israelis will pay yet another heavy price for their crime,” Salami was quoted by Iranian news networks as saying.

IRGC Quds Force Commander Ismail Kaani also warned that Hezbollah would join the fight.

“Hezbollah plans to deal the Zionist entity it’s final blow to and remove it from existence at the appropriate time,” he was quoted as saying.

Gantz said Friday morning that security forces are preparing for all scenarios on all fronts, including in the North and the center of the country, and that the IDF will continue its operational activity in all sectors as needed.

“We do not seek conflict, yet we will not hesitate to defend our citizens if required,” he said, adding that “the State of Israel and the IDF will continue its operations, knowing the responsibility we bear on our shoulders: to defend the communities and citizens of Israel’s South, and to defend the citizens of the entire State of Israel.”

Hamas has an Islamic Jihad problem in the Gaza Strip
See here for links to all of today’s posts on Operation Breaking Dawn.
[JPost] Sometimes, your "deniable" liability becomes your liability. Curb your dog
Regardless of how and when the current round of fighting ends, it’s clear that the Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad organization has managed to reassert its status as the second largest and most influential terror group in the Gaza Strip.

It’s also obvious that Islamic Jihad has become a major threat not only to Israel, but to Hamas as well. Similarly, it has also become a real threat to the Palestinian Authority, especially in the northern West Bank.

In the past several years, Islamic Jihad has been openly challenging Hamas by operating as a state-within-a-state in the Gaza Strip. Hamas leaders have always displayed intolerance towards rival groups in the coastal enclave.

Even more disturbing for Hamas is the fact that a number of other armed groups have joined Islamic Jihad in firing rockets at Israel in the past 24 hours. These groups are affiliated with Fatah, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Popular Resistance Committees and Nasser Salah a-Din Brigades.

The fighting in the Gaza Strip shows that Hamas is no longer the sole decision-maker on matters related to military confrontations with Israel. It further illustrates that Islamic Jihad is capable of acting as an independent military force without having to coordinate with, or receive permission from, Hamas.

A statement published by the armed wing of Islamic Jihad on Saturday boasted that the terrorist groups were united in confronting the Israeli "aggression" on the Gaza Strip.

The statement, nonetheless, does not seem to reflect the reality on the ground, namely that Hamas has still not joined Islamic Jihad and its allies in the current round of fighting.

By Saturday afternoon, there was still no indication that Hamas was keen on joining the fighting. Statements issued by Hamas leaders offered nothing but lip service to Islamic Jihad and the other terrorist groups.

A terse statement by Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said that he "affirmed during contacts with the Egyptian intelligence heads that what happened in the Gaza Strip is the responsibility of the occupation state alone." Haniyeh, in addition, "stressed the need to stop the bombing targeting the Gaza Strip."

Another statement released by Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum also failed to offer any hint that his group was planning to join the fighting. "The resistance, with all its military arms and factions, is united in this battle, will defend our people in the Gaza Strip with everything it possesses, and will defeat the occupation as it defeated it in all the battles," said Barhoum.

At this stage, it’s obvious that Hamas does not want Islamic Jihad to drag it into another all-out confrontation with Israel. Hamas’s biggest fear is that another war could trigger a revolt against its regime by the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who paid a heavy price during last year’s military confrontation with Israel.

Hamas is now hoping that Egypt and Qatar will be able to achieve a new ceasefire between Israel and Islamic jihad. Although it is doing its utmost not to get involved in the fighting, Hamas is apparently worried that if the fighting escalates and the number of casualties rises in the Gaza Strip, it will no longer be able to continue sitting on the fence.

In the past, Hamas found itself in the same position that Islamic Jihad is in now, when it created a state-within-a-state under the rule of the Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Authority’s failure to rein in Hamas in the 1990s ultimately saw the Islamists seize control of the Gaza Strip in the summer of 2007 after toppling the Palestinian Authority.

Paradoxically, Israel’s military strikes against Islamic Jihad serve the interests of Hamas by undermining the organization that poses a threat to its rule over the Gaza Strip. But Hamas’s failure to assist Islamic Jihad could also prove to be counterproductive, especially in wake of increased voices criticizing the rulers of the Gaza Strip for their neutral stance.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The Petal Problem
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russia military journalist Boris Rozhin in italics

[ColonelCassad] Actual text for residents of Donetsk and the liberated territories, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively mining with anti-personnel mines of the Petal type.

The Petal Problem

In this material, I will not touch on violations of conventions, treachery and ethics in the use of PFM-1 "Petal" mines by the enemy, cries about the deceit and meanness of the enemy, these are all "talks in favor of the poor." It is especially surprising to hear this from the military, and what did you actually expect, that the enemy would fight honestly ???!!!
But this is poetry, here I will only touch on technical issues, briefly, so that it would be clear to a non-specialist.

Recently, in the network, there are some attractions of unprecedented dementia and courage to clear these mines.

They drive over them with armored vehicles, damaging gooses and asphalt, throwing tires, bricks at them, hitting them with a stick, shooting from a machine gun ...

Well, the classic movie idiocy:

So, what is this mine and how to mine it correctly and safely.

Introductory part:

PFM-1 anti-personnel mine, high-explosive, pressure action. The mine does not hit the victim with fragments (the body is soft polyethylene), with the exception of secondary ones, formed by the material with which it comes into contact during the explosion, asphalt, concrete, stone, metal. The defeat is inflicted due to brisance, i.e. crushing the limb that clicked on the mine.

Designed to disable enemy personnel. A person is injured at the moment of stepping with the foot (pressing with the hand) on the target sensor, which is the ENTIRE area of the semi-soft polyethylene container with liquid explosive VS-6D. The photo shows a thicker part of the mine, as thick as a finger and a "wing", which is just a piece of plastic. The application of the load on this very wing is completely safe. But pressing on the "thick" part, with a force of 5-25 kg, causes an explosion. Yes, for those who like to pick it up - the liquid explosive inside is TOXIC!

The mine has no anti-recovery devices and is formally non-disposable. Those. does not explode when trying to lift it, change its position in space. The main thing is not to apply a load to the thick part of the mine.

It is installed ONLY by means of remote mining from cassettes. Those. the mine is stored in a cassette (there are several types of cassettes, they may not visually differ from each other in any way except for the marking) in the transport (safe) position, the transfer to the combat position begins at the moment the cassette is fired. On the descending part of the flight path, mines are pushed out of the hull by a squib. The transfer to the combat position ends 1-10 minutes after the mine touches the surface.

It is technically impossible to bring a mine (hundreds of pieces) safely in your pocket, in a backpack, and then manually transfer them to a combat position.

Since the mine is stored in cassettes, and the cassettes are in containers of different capacities, a lot of them spill out onto the surface at once, usually tens, hundreds, thousands of pieces. And sow the area from hundreds of square meters to tens of thousands o
f square meters. The color of the mine can be any shade of green or brown.
There is another option PFM-1C, with self-destruction in 1-40 hours.

IMPORTANT!!!

PFM-1S looks no different from PFM-1, which DOES NOT HAVE a self-destruct device. Neither color nor size. PFM-1S may or may not have a "C" marking on the wing, the wing may be damaged, covered in mud, hidden by something.
This is important for understanding demining operations. Because, you can raise a mine by the wing and at that moment, according to the law of meanness, the self-liquidator will work.

The main part:

1. Since the "Petal" is installed (read scattered) ONLY by means of remote mining using MLRS, aviation, a portable mining kit. Then, as a rule, mines just lie on the surface, openly. Difficulty of visual detection only in dense vegetation, heavily littered terrain, or when mines lie on the surface for a very long time and are covered with dust, snow, and fallen leaves.

2. When a PFM is found, if you are a civilian or a non-specialist, simply mark the location of the mine with an easily visible at any time of the day and difficult to move landmark / sign. Be careful! If you found one PFM, then there are a lot of them around, most likely. The discovery of one is an occasion to let others know and increase attention, since there are a lot of them around.

Report the find to specially authorized people. Keep children away from mines, they have an "interesting" shape and attract the attention of children.

3. If you were involved in demining, you don’t need to shoot every “Petal” like a moron and do with them everything that I wrote about above and what the Internet and TG channels are littered with. You expose yourself and others to ricochets from gunfire or injury from secondary fragmentation when mines explode on hard ground.

Take any plastic bottle with a capacity of 2 liters, preferably 5 liters, cut it off "under the scoop". From improvised materials, wood, for example, you make a handle-holder 2-2.5 m long, attach it to a scoop from a plastic bottle by sticking a plastic bottle into the neck and tightly fixing it with plastic ties and tape. NOT steel screws! You get such an impromptu scoop, light and without dangerous secondary fragments even when the PFM explodes.

With the help of this scoop, you collect PFM on the ground, taking them to pre-determined, safe places for collection, where they will then be destroyed / taken out by sappers. It would be nice to have SIBZ (BZh, helmet) and goggles on yourself, ordinary construction glasses will do. It's enough. It is not necessary to use shovels with metal bayonets and holders, if, according to the law of meanness, it is at the moment of carrying that the self-liquidator will work or, by pulling on the PFM, press it with a hard bayonet of the shovel and an explosion will occur, the metal of the shovel can injure you. It's useless. You can use spatulas with bayonets made of thin three-layer plywood, as instructed, but in my opinion, in our time, it is easier to find a plastic bottle in the DB zone than plywood.

P.S.

Yes, to advisers who say that you need high-quality shoes, but you don’t need to lace them up, or you need to put on sneakers and then you’ll definitely be saved ... Put on everything that you advise and walk around PFM-1. Under the record. And then we'll talk.

Be literate in engineering and may not only strength be with you, but also mind;)

https://ohotnik1975.livejournal.com/230912.html

And yes, in the order of tediousness. Mining the streets of a populated city with Petals to kill civilians is a war crime. To date, 24 people have been blown up by such mines in Donetsk. One of them has died.

Africa Horn
US ‘not happy’ with the make-up of the new Somalia cabinet - sources
[Garowe] The United States of America is disappointed with the nomination of former al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all of which have enough problems without them...
deputy leader Mukhtar Robow as a minister and is concerned about the negative impact that might have on the congressional support, credible sources told Garowe Online.

The US Patriot Act Leahy vetting policy prevents the United States from supporting any government with ties to terrorism and violation of human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
. The law will significantly see Somalia's new government get sidelined on critical funding and support from Washington.

The United States has been a major stakeholder in terms of sponsoring the fight against terrorism in the Horn of Africa nation by supporting the training and equipping of Danab Special forces who are critical in the al-Shabaab war besides helping the country tackle the humanitarian crisis.

"It will be impossible for the Somali government to receive financial and military support from the United States because that will violate US federal law," added the sources who do not want to be named in this article.

Somalia technically falls in this category given that al-Shabaab is dominant in the country and has been expanding territories both in Æthiopia and Kenya. Last week, the Lions of Islam stormed Æthiopia from Ato town causing a major security scare but the situation has since been contained.

Multiple sources have also confided to Garowe Online in confidence that the US government is very concerned about the makeup of the new Somali cabinet including ex-terrorist. Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre appointed 26 ministers last week.

Additionally, the US administration is not happy with the renomination of another in the cabinet, with sources arguing that Washington views him as incompetent and corrupt given his past records while serving in ex-governments.

The concerns come just over two months after Somalia's parliament elected Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as president, thus effectively ending the reigns of Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed better known as Farmajo, who had failed in local and foreign policy.

Should the new policy get affected, it's likely to dent the efforts of Hassan Sheikh to fight terrorism both ideologically and through military efforts. The new president also promised to ensure al-Shabaab's source of funding is tamed.

The US had dispatched hundreds of special soldiers to Somalia almost a year after their unprecedented exit and it's not clear if the latest policy will also affect their presence in the country. The US Africa Command has been essential in the fight against al-Shabaab.

Reports done by the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
indicated once the US withdrew its troops from Somalia and with subsequent minimal funding, the al-Shabaab Lions of Islam gained ground, especially in rural central and southern Somalia.

The terror group has been a thorn in the flesh of the federal government of Somalia. Analysts argue that Hassan Sheikh may have pushed for the inclusion of Mukhtar Robow in the cabinet as minister for Endowment and Religious Affairs as an indication of fighting the group ideologically.

Robow served as al-Shabaab deputy leader before renouncing the group's ideology but his efforts to join politics in 2018 were blocked by Farmajo as he tried to run for the Southwest presidency. Before his nomination to the cabinet, he had been in house detention for the last three years.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
10 career criminals racked up nearly 500 arrests since NY bail reform began
“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.”

― H.L. Mencken
[NYPOST] A small group of just 10 career criminals was allowed to run amok across the Big Apple and rack up nearly 500 arrests after New York enacted its controversial bail reform law — and most of them are still out on the streets, The Post has learned.
Maybe next time New York City’s voters will plump for Republicans as mayor and governor instead of choosing more of this. Or perhaps those who haven’t yet moved out will go for more consequences.
Stunning statistics compiled by the NYPD, and obtained first by The Post, show that the city’s alleged "worst of the worst" repeat offenders have been busted a total of 485 times since bail reform went into effect in 2020.

Two of the defendants are actually accused of embarking on lives of crime in the wake of bail reform, with one busted 33 times since 2020 and the other busted 22 times, all this year, the data shows.

Mayor Eric Adams
...retired New York City police captain, member of the New York State Senate, first Black Brooklyn borough president, law and order Dem after a brief fling with the Publicans. The New York Times isn't fond of him, suspecting he may not actually be black...
— who’s been demanding that state politicians roll back the bail-reform law to crack down on repeat offenders — expressed outrage Wednesday while discussing the findings during an afternoon news conference at One Police Plaza.

"Our criminal justice system is insane," he said.

"It is dangerous, it is harmful and it’s destroying the fabric of our city."

Adams added: "Time and time again, our coppers make an arrest, and then the person who is arrested for assault, felonious assaults, robberies and gun possessions, they’re finding themselves back on the street within days— if not hours — after the arrest."

‘The front is starting to crumble.’
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Andrey Kots

[RIA] Soviet military theorists of the 1930s said, "Tanks don't fight tanks." It was assumed that the task of heavy armored vehicles with powerful guns was exclusively to support infantry, destroy field fortifications and personnel. But time has shown that everything is different. These are now "universal soldiers" capable of performing any combat mission. About the work of the tankmen of the 1st Army Corps of the DPR army - in the report of RIA Novosti.

"DO NOT SHOOT THE AREA"
The Kyiv region in the north-west of Donetsk is being shelled by Ukrainian artillery with particular ferocity. It is closest to Avdievka and Pesky, settlements where the Armed Forces of Ukraine have set up a powerful fortified area and concentrated a serious combined-arms group.

From here to the front - just a couple of kilometers. There is a rattle of submachine guns and machine guns, the howl of mortar mines, a short staccato of automatic grenade launchers. And the tankers hit the enemy positions with direct fire.

We slow down at the headquarters of the tank battalion of the 1st Slavic Brigade, carefully disguised in green. The military sternly warn: shoot equipment only "big" so that buildings, lampposts, fences do not get into the frame - any elements of the landscape by which you can "copy" the position. It is no secret that Ukrainian intelligence is actively monitoring Russian media and social networks. And there have already been cases when the Donetsk military "arrived" because of the carelessness of photojournalists and videographers.

For the same reason, the tankers agree to give interviews only in balaclavas - many of them have relatives left in the territories of Donbass controlled by Kyiv.

“Although Donetsk has been pouring with rain for several days, the fighting does not stop,” says the deputy commander of the tank battalion.

"Just yesterday we were counterattacked. We were met with fire, the infantry joined in, they hit them in the teeth. On the whole, we are moving forward, slowly but surely. The goal is to push the VSE troops away from Donetsk so that shelling of peaceful areas will stop."

DANGEROUS "STUGNA"
According to the officer, they have already managed to break into the first line of defense in the Avdiivka direction. Soldiers of the 1st brigade took trophies. The deputy battalion commander demonstrates the American M67 offensive grenade - the Pentagon sent several thousand of these. In addition, the infantry captured several Western ATGMs and an Mk40 automatic heavy grenade launcher. "Not enough, of course, but thanks to our foreign suppliers," the officer grins.

Western weapons are highly valued by the military, but the same ATGMs at the front have become much less than a few months ago. At the same time, according to the tankers, the Ukrainian Stugna is much more dangerous than the American Javelins and the British NLAW. The operator controls this complex remotely, from a remote control, he does not need to be directly near the installation. And the armor penetration is enough to destroy the tank.

"This causes a lot of trouble," admits the deputy battalion commander.

"But Ukrainians are extremely reluctant to enter tank duels. They are more used to hitting from afar, stealthily. Their tanks are good, with Western electronics, modern radio stations. I can only remember one episode. Their "sixty-fours" (T-64. - Ed.) flew into the position of our tank.

Apparently, the crew was frightened of their own courage and did not open fire."

TANK CAROUSEL
Tanks operate on the principle of a carousel. From a camouflaged shelter, invisible to the air reconnaissance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the vehicle drives at full speed to the firing line. Fires four or five shots and returns to its original position at full speed. Immediately after that, another tank comes into action, from a different position. Exit to the line, short work, retreat. The meaning of this tactic is a constant fire impact from different points, without being exposed to retaliatory fire.

"Their own equipment helps us to accurately hit targets," explains the tank commander with the call sign Chuta.

"Our T-64 is captured, they took it back in the spring in the Zaporozhye direction. The car is good, it doesn’t fail. An excellent western thermal imager, we can even see the enemy for many kilometers at night. We mainly work with high-explosive fragmentation. This is the most effective projectile against fortifications. We don’t even take armor-piercing ones with us. Quadcopters help a lot - they correct the fire."

In the spring, he had another tank - they knocked out in the Avdeevsky direction. The driver died, Chuta was wounded in the head. He was treated in the hospital for a long time and returned to the front - "more motivated."

The other day, the commander of a tank platoon, Arsen, was nominated for the title of "Hero of the DPR". From Ramenskoye near Moscow, a lawyer by education. I came to Donbass in 2019 as a volunteer. A few weeks ago, his unit was ordered to occupy a key height near Donetsk, from which the droneunits corrected their fire. The T-72 was equipped with a minesweeper and moved in the forefront, shooting anti-tank "surprises".

The car was hit several times, the turret jammed. But the tank did not leave the battle, continuing to pave the way for the infantry. The height was occupied with minimal losses. Colleagues say: if not for Arsen, the attack would have bogged down. Assault groups would simply be interrupted by artillery. The observation post at the dominant height allowed the DPR army to gain an advantage in a significant sector of the front.

At the same time, he is one of many Donetsk servicemen who joined the army without military service experience. The skills acquired in the military sports club near Moscow helped. And here for three years he didn’t get out of the training grounds, until he mastered the T-72 to perfection.

He received his baptism of fire in the Mariupol direction. His platoon stormed Granite. He admits: "It was scary."

Now there are no such emotions - only calm self-confidence. Saying goodbye to journalists, Arsen leaves for his unit, casually throwing in the end: "Be there, guys, I'm at work."

Man dies after falling into vat of hot porridge
[NYPOST] A man died last month from horrific burns he sustained after falling into a giant pot of porridge in India, as seen in a graphic video.
"Aaaiiieee! I am undone!"
The victim, named Muthuswamy, had reportedly been in charge of overseeing the preparation of porridge for an upcoming festival.
"C'mon! Boil 'er up! Nobody likes cold porridge!"
However,
there's more than one way to make porridge...
things went south on July 29 after he suffered an unfortunate spill. In the clip of the incident, which took place in Tamil Nadu, the event organizer can be seen walking along a row of porridge vats when he suddenly staggers backward after seemingly losing his balance.
"[GRAB!] Hot! Oh, hot! Hot, hot, hot! Whoops a daisy! [TOPPLE!]"
The unsteady soul then attempts to brace himself against one of the cauldrons, only to topple backward into the scalding stew with a splash.
[SPLASH!]"Alas! Poor Muthaswamy! He tasted like feet! The porridge was ruined!"
Upon witnessing the freak accident, bystanders rush in to try and extricate Muthuswamy but to no avail. After what seems like an eternity in the pot, the poor fellow is finally retrieved by a team of Samaritans after which he was subsequently rushed to the Rajaji Government Hospital.
"Quick! Call Doctor Quincy, M.E.!"
Unfortunately, his saviors came too late: Muthuswamy tragically perished from the severe burns he sustained in the stew.
"Alas, poor Muthaswamy! I knew him well!"
"Not that well!"

The cause of the man’s sudden unsteadiness is not yet known, however, his wife said he suffered from epilepsy, which may have triggered the fall.
Y'think?

Islamic Jihad rocket kills lots of Paleo civilians in north Gaza
See here for links to all of today’s posts on Operation Breaking Dawn.
[IsraelTimes] A rocket launched by Palestinian terror operatives Saturday misfired and hit a Palestinian home in the Strip’s north, killing several people including children, Israeli military officials said.

Initial reports from Gaza claimed an Israeli strike in the Jabaliya refugee camp had killed seven civilians, including four children. Photos circulating on social media showed seven body bags.

But military officials said the Israel Defense Forces had not conducted any airstrike in the area in recent hours, and that rocket detection systems had shown the rocket launch and then explode inside the refugee camp.

"On our radar, we see the launch and impact and can see it was them failing and hitting themselves," a spokesman said.

A second official added: "We have videos that prove beyond any doubt that this is not an Israeli attack. It has been unequivocally proven that it was a failed Islamic Jihad rocket launch."

Daraa: Syrian army reinforcements flow in, someone is shooting troops and civilians in Daraa
Government Forces Bring Military Reinforcements To South Syria’s Daraa
Aug 5, 2022
[NPASyria] Syrian government forces brought in, on Friday, military reinforcements including heavy vehicles and artilleries to the city of Daraa, southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that the government forces brought in military vehicles, including BMP-3 vehicles, AZP S-60 anti-aircraft guns, and several cars with dozens of soldiers on board entered the city of Daraa.

The source added that the reinforcements headed to the Municipal Stadium in the Panorama neighborhood.

Another source from the area said that the reinforcements came as a preparation to launch a military action on some towns west of Daraa.

Days ago, Mufid Hassan, head of the Security Committee of the government forces threatened to launch an attack against some towns of the governorate in case the government’s demands are not answered which to hand over the wanted and to inspect the houses, according to the source.

Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with one or two daily assassinations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, not to mention the spread of thefts.

In 2021, Daraa Governorate went through an 80-day-seige. Aug 4, 2022
[NPASyria] A Secretary of a branch of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party was killed on Thursday in a shooting by unknown gunmen in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

A local source told North Press that “Salama Abdulrahman al-Qaddah, Secretary of the Baath Party branch in the city of al-Hirak in the eastern countryside of Daraa, was shot dead by unidentified attackers.”

He added that al-Qaddah is one of the most prominent figures of the Syrian government in the city, and was among the members of the settlement committees that facilitated the Russian-mediated settlement agreement in 2018.

Al-Qaddah returned to Daraa after the government forces regained control over the governorate in 2018. He lived in the city of Izraa in northern Daraa, but later moved to al-Hirak after assuming his current position.

This is not the first time a secretary of the Ba’ath party gets assassinated, as two months ago unknown gunmen killed both Fouad al-Aboud, secretary of the party’s branch in the town of al-Naimah, and Awad al-Aboud, head of the town’s municipal council, in eastern Daraa.

Casualties In Government Forces In Syria’s Daraa
Aug 3, 2022
[NPASyria] On Wednesday, an armed attack north of Daraa in southern Syria killed two soldiers of the Syrian government forces and wounded an officer and another soldier.

A local source told North Press, “Unidentified attackers opened fire on the vehicle of Captain Ali Khaddour, an officer in the Air Force Intelligence branch in Daraa Governorate, near the town of Jbab in the northern countryside of Daraa.”

Khaddour was seriously wounded and subsequently taken to a hospital. Three soldiers accompanied the officer, two were killed while the other was injured.

Consequently, the source said, the government sent military vehicles to the scene, in addition to setting up temporary checkpoints to search for suspects.

The officer is in charge of the government’s posts and checkpoints deployed on the Damascus-Daraa highway.

Khaddour had previously survived two assassination attempts in Daraa eastern countryside, one in May and the other in October 2021.

On Tuesday, Hussam al-Aboud, a leader of an armed group affiliated with the Air Force Intelligence branch of the government forces in Daraa, was killed by unidentified gunmen in the town of al-Naima, east of Daraa.

Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with one or two daily assassinations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, not to mention the spread of thefts.

In 2021, Daraa Governorate went through an 80-day-seige. Fierce battles in Peski, but it is controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine - Kirilenko
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Vesti] There are fierce battles in the village of Peski in the Donetsk region, but it is still controlled by the Ukrainian military, despite the claims of the Russian military about the capture.

This was announced by the chairman of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavel Kirilenko on the air of the information telethon, commenting on the information about how the Russians have established control over Peski.

"The settlement of Peski is controlled by the Ukrainian armed forces. Yes, it is very hot in the indicated settlement, but additional measures have been taken by the professional command to ensure that the enemy's plans do not materialize ," he said.

According to Kirilenko, there is also a huge amount of shelling along the entire front line.

Thus, the military of the Russian Federation wants to bypass Avdievka with the help of the settlement of Peski in order to implement a further offensive.

"The plans of the enemy are known, so additional measures are being taken to stop him ," the head of the UVA said.

He added that the Russian military is destroying Avdiivka, where there is not a single surviving building for quite a long period of time.

Arestovich on the actions of the Russians in southern Ukraine

[Vesti] Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the President's Office, does not rule out that the Russian military will nevertheless go on the offensive in the Nikolaev direction. In his opinion, this is suicidal, but the adviser notes that the Russian command has more than once issued precisely such commands, meaningless from the point of view of the military.

As Arestovich notes, "the enemy group, which is quite serious in the Novaya Kakhovka area, there are about a dozen - maybe fifteen BTGs." "The question is where they will throw it. To strengthen the Kherson direction, or to strengthen the Zaporozhye direction - this is an open question, so we'll see. There, somewhere, two or three BTGs were brought to the right bank of Kherson, the paratroopers entered and partly motorized riflemen. And they began they are actions that many would consider an attack on Nikolaev, but something seems to me that this can’t even be called an action yet. strike in another," said the adviser.

In general, in the south, according to him, “Russian troops are concentrating on the exit from the Crimea, where they have a small number of BTGs that can go both to Melitopol and Kherson. "Let's see where they will be strengthened," Arestovich said.

As for our counter-offensive in the south, according to Arestovich, the Russians "have one more grouping, its task is to at least stop our advance in the area of the Nikolaev-Kherson highway, where we came quite close."

"This is Posad-Pokrovsk, and they are very worried, because Kherson is already visible from here . They plan to keep the defense there. In addition, they are very worried about our bridgeheads located off the coast of Ingulets. They want to occupy it. In general, they are going to fight," said the adviser. According to him, in general, there are about 30 BTGs in the theater of operations in the south.

And this is practically all that the Russians have left, Arestovich notes. And in the Donetsk region, only mercenaries from the unrecognized "LDNR" remained to fight. “They are not pulling the entire front. The madness that is happening now from Avdievka to Marinka, all these desperate attacks by Peskov and so on, is because the front has been completely given over to the so-called "DNR" and "LNR", there are no Russians there. They are killing themselves about our fortifications that we have been creating there for eight years. The result may be that in some areas they will advance a maximum of several hundred meters, and end physically. Moscow stupidly writes them off," says the adviser.

[ColonelCassad] It so happened that our country is again experiencing a turning point in its more than a thousand-year history. We have to deal with the aggressive reaction of some external players to absolutely justified actions to protect vital interests in the western direction. A man-made crisis of European security and the entire international order, formed as a result of the Second World War, arose.

....Chuck Yeager His Own Self called it 'committing suicide to avoid being killed.'

And one of Yeager's contemporaries was CAPT Iven Kincheloe, USAF - Korean War ace and probably the best known USAF test pilot of the 50s after Yeager himself. He had been selected for the X-15 program and almost certainly would have been one of the Mercury 7...until his F-104 flamed out on takeoff at Edwards. He ejected down and his chute deployed, but he didn't have enough altitude. Had he had an upward ejecting seat (which later mods of the Starfighter got) he would have simply had a great story to tell at the O-club that night. Instead, we lost him at thirty years old.

Turkey Issues Unfair Sentences Including Death Against Kurds In Syria’s Afrin
Aug 4, 2022
[NPASyria] A Turkish court in the Turkish-occupied city of Afrin in the north of Aleppo, northern Syria, issued sentences, including death to some Kurds on charges of dealing with the Kurdish-led Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

The conditions or manner of trial of these people were unknown, and their families could not visit them or get a lawyer to defend them, Violations Documentation Center in Northern Syria (VDC-NSY) said.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily there.

Turkey has been occupying Afrin and its countryside since March 2018, following a military operation called “Olive Branch” by the Turkish forces with the support of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA).

Since then, the region has been witnessing trees’ cutting, arrests and killing incidents.

These areas, however, continue to witness a state of security chaos, accompanied by explosions and continuous fighting, amid the factions’ inability to maintain security.

Hussein Mustafa Hussein, 20, is from al-Mahmoudiya neighborhood of the city of Afrin. He was kidnapped on April 28, 2021. His family could not visit him or know where he was arrested until he was sentenced to death.

Youssef Mustafa Hussein was kidnapped in May 1, 2021 and sentenced to three years in prison under the same previous circumstances.

Mustafa bin Muhammad Hussein, 28, was kidnapped for the first time in 2019 and was released in March 2021 after he paid a ransom. However, he was kidnapped again after a week without knowing his fate until he was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Ezzaddin bin Youssef Mustafa, 17, was kidnapped on May 5, 2021 and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Zainab Muhammad Olashli, 27, Mustafa Hussein’s wife, was kidnapped on June 12, 2021 and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

During June 2022, the SNA arrested 80 civilians of Afrin, according to the VDC-NSY.

Since the beginning of the year, Afrin witnessed more than 433 arrests. This number is the documented one, whereas the actual number is more than this, especially that there are some detainees were not mentioned by their families, the organization noted.

Turkish Border Guards Kill Farmer In Syria’s Kobani
Aug 4, 2022
[NPASyria] Ottoman Turkish border guards shot and killed on Thursday a farmer in a village east of Kobani, northern Syria.

The dear departed is Ibrahim Osman Mohyaddin, a resident of the village of Goran, 28 km east of Kobani.

Khalil Qawas, a resident of the village of Kharabisan Foqani, told North Press, "Mohyaddin, who hails from the village of Kharabisan Foqani, was shot when he was watering his farmland in the village of Goran on the Ottoman Turkish border."

Qawas added that Mohyaddin was transferred to Kobani Hospital, but passed away before getting there, noting that he was shot in the chest.

On September 27 of last year, the Ottoman Turkish border guards shot and maimed 55-year old farmer Muhammad Ahmad Sheikho in the village of Seftak, in Kobani western countryside, while he was wandering his land, which is adjacent to the Ottoman Turkish border (approximately 250 m off the Ottoman Turkish border).

The Ottoman Turkish border guards repeatedly target Syrian farmers in different areas while they work in their farmlands near the border.

Until mid-February, The Violations Documentation Center in Northern Syria (VDC-NSY) had documented the death of 525 Syrians, including 101 minors and 67 women, by Ottoman Turkish border guards.

Turkish Military Shells A Town Of Syria’s Aleppo, Wounds 7 People
Aug 4, 2022
[NPASyria] Seven civilians were injured, including children, in a Turkish shelling of the town of Tel Rifaat in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

The town of Tel Rifaat, 35 km north of Aleppo city, has been a shelter for Afrin displaced people since 2018 following the Turkish invasion of Afrin and its countryside which resulted in the displacement of about 300.000 of the original inhabitants.

A medical source in the Tel Rifaat Hospital told North Press that seven people were wounded, including five children, one of whom is in a critical condition.

“A shrapnel crossed the child’s skull, which puts his life at risk, so he will be transferred to Aleppo,” the source said.

The source said the wounded children are Orivan Muhammad Abdo, 15, Dina Othman, 6, Hussein Jamal Qassem, 7, Afrin Abdel Rahman Haider, 13, and Mahmoud Gharib Mamo, 6.

The others are Hussein Bayram Alko, 43, Ronahi Selo, 27, according to the medical source.

An eyewitness said that a drone bombed several areas near a military post of the government forces (200 meters away), which was targeted by a drone earlier.

The source noted that the shelling targeted several vital spots in Tel Rifaat, such as the town’s market and school.

On August 1, Turkish shelling of Tel Rifaat killed an internally displaced woman from the city of Afrin, north of Aleppo.

There are 3.692 displaced families that include 14.783 people from Afrin and 35 displaced families from Idlib live in Tel Rifaat, according to statistics carried out by Autonomous Administration of Afrin, which is currently operating in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

There are also 630 families that include about 3.000 people of original residents in the town, according to the same source.

Turkey has escalated its attacks on areas in north and northeast Syria, using artillery and drones following Tehran Summit, in which Turkey failed to obtain a green light by Iran and Russia to invade the region.

Tehran Summit, on July 19, brought together presidents of each of Iran, Russia and Turkey with the Syrian issue and Turkish threats on the top of its agenda

Turkish Artillery Targets Village North Of Syria’s Hasakah
Aug 3, 2022
[NPASyria] Turkish forces and their affiliated opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled on Wednesday evening the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.

A source in the Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told North Press, “The Turkish forces targeted with artillery shells the village of Tawila, west of the town of Tel Tamr.”

The bombardment resulted in material damage, according to the source.

The town of Tel Tamr and its countryside have been under constant bombardment by Turkish forces and its affiliated SNA factions for more than two years.

However, these attacks have witnessed a spike for the last three weeks; the most violent of which was on July 30, when 11 civilians were injured, including children.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25.000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo Governorate in the northwest.

Parts of the northern and western countryside of the town and the entire southern countryside are protected by the Syriac Military Council and the Assyrian Khabour Guards Forces, while the Turkish-backed SNA control the northern countryside up to the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) on the northern border of Syria.

Taliban Calls on Immediate Cessation of ‘Brutal' Israel Attacks on Gaza
[Khaama] "When it comes to atrocities, aggression, and attacks on 'innocent' and 'defenseless' Muslims, that's OUR game!"
The Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel’s "brutal" attacks on Gaza, calling on the international community to prevent Israel’s "atrocities & aggression".

According to the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry statement, the international community should prevent Israel’s attack on "innocent" and "defenseless" Muslims of the Gaza enclave of Palestine.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson in a tweet, on Saturday, outlined the Taliban’s stance on the immediate halt to Israeli attacks.

Israel conducted a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in Palestine and Gaza City on Friday, August 5, and the Agence France Presse reported that the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine launched rockets at Israel today.

Israel’s strike on Friday resulted in the death of a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, sparking the conflict, according to international media.

There were no reports of any casualties despite the fact that Gaza militants continued to fire rounds of rockets into Israel every half hour.

According to reports from the Gaza Strip, at least 9 individuals were killed and 44 were wounded by Israeli airstrikes.

Israel has defended its attacks, stating that their mission is to combat the Islamic Jihad group, and asserted that yesterday’s attacks resulted in the deaths of 15 militants who belonged to that group.

Five Kenyan police officers injured in Al-Shabaab attack in Mandera
[ShabelleMedia] Five police Kenyan officers were maimed on Thursday in an attack by al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
Lions of Islam in Mandera.

Police said one of the officers sustained a gunshot wound on the forehead, while the other four sustained injuries as they jumped out of their patrol vehicles to take cover.

The officers were treated at Elwak Subcounty Referral Hospital and discharged.

The team which was on patrol when they were attacked managed to repulse the attackers who were armed with rifles.

They were reinforced by officers from the Kenya Defence Forces and the General Service Unit in the area.

Police said the attack occurred at Bamba Ola stretch between Wargadud and Elwak.

The police motor vehicle had its rear screen shattered, exhaust pipe damaged, chassis shot on the left rear tyre area and a bullet hole on the rear roof rails.

On August 1, three coppers were maimed in a kaboom on their camp at the El-Ram, Kutulo in Mandera.

It was the second such attack by the Lions of Islam on the Anti-Stock Theft Unit base.

Police said they attacked the camp using six HE bombs and followed with gun attacks at about 4 pm.

Three officers sustained deep cuts as others fought off the incursion.

The team in the camp managed to repulse the attackers after about 20 minutes of battle.

Witnesses told police the attackers were about 50 and were repulsed after a military jet that responded there scared them.

Kenya Defence Forces jet had to come to the aid of the officers who were fighting to contain a planned overrun by the gang that had crossed from the nearby Kenya-Somalia border.

A similar incident happened there on July 25 leaving three officers with injuries.

This comes days after another team of security agents escaped death narrowly after a herder alerted them of bombs on the road in Liboi, Garissa.

The team was using Kulan-Liboi road when a herder signalled them and alerted them there was a freshly dug area and he suspected there was a bomb that had been planted by al-Shabaab terrorists.

This prompted them to change their route and later alerted experts.

The team visited the scene and established that two Improvised Explosive Devises had been planted in the middle of the road.

They used their expertise to remove the IEDs and later destroyed them.

Police said their intelligence had indicated there are dozens of al-Shabaab holy warriors who have invaded the area to attack residents.

Last week tried to attack Korof Harar cop shoppe using Rocket Propelled Grenades but were repulsed.

Another group of holy warriors set up an IED on the Mandera-Rhamu Road in Qumbiso but residents alerted the police.

Police fear the holy warriors are planning a bigger attack in the area and have called for heightened vigilance.

North Eastern police boss George Seda called on residents to help them tame the movements of the holy warriors who are crossing from the main Kenya-Somalia border that is porous.

It is the latest such incident to happen in a series in the past months.

This is despite campaigns to address the incoppersace in the area.

This has affected the education sector, forcing tens of teachers who are non-locals to leave.

Other professionals also escaped amid mounted security operations.

The border region has borne the brunt of repeated attacks from the Lions of Islam who are at times aided by locals. Somalia has not had a stable government after the fall of Siad Barre in 1991.

The area is near the Somalia border and the Lions of Islam usually cross at will and stage attacks before escaping back.

The holy warriors have been planting explosives on the routes used by the security agencies.

Kenyan troops are in Somalia to pursue and suppress the activities of the terror group.

3 People Die in Blast on Second Day of Attacks in Kabul
It looks like this will be a daily event in Kabul, courtesy of ISIS-K, until the holiday is over.
[ToloNews] Three people were killed and seven others were maimed in a blast on Saturday evening in Kabul's Pol-e-Sukhta area, according to Mawlawi Zabihullah, commander of PD6 in Kabul.

A TOLOnews news hound who visited the earth-shattering kaboom scene in Kabul's Pol-e-Sukhta area, said that the explosives were put in a pot on the side of the road.
Ashura should be a blast
It has been reported that security forces were not harmed in the earth-shattering kaboom.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac?

Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.

If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng, he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!...

Kabul security department front man Khalid Zadran said on Twitter that two people were killed and 22 others were maimed in the blast that took place this afternoon in the Pul-e-Sokhta area of Kabul.

Saturday's explosion took place relatively close to yesterday's blast.
So in western Kabul, where the Shiites — who are are 10-20% of Afghanistan's population, including Tajiks, Pashtuns, and Hazaras — live.
According to the Kabul Security Command, the earth-shattering kaboom on Friday in the Sarkariz area killed eight people and eighteen people were maimed.

ISIS has grabbed credit for Friday's blast.

#3  It's the IS-K, killing easy targets to show their power and reach in Afghanistan. Their targets are so far people no one important will miss. Those not terribly important to the Taliban. But they advertise it as surgical, commando missions, top tier assassination, to recruit local adventurers and idiots.

IS-K preach the Taliban are traitors to the cause, simple degenerates who tricked the US into losing instead of actually fighting, and now want to sit and rule just their shithole instead of expanding across Asia. IS-K are mercenary, totally. They'll kill any number of moslems for the right price. Any number. Even their own cadres from another region. But they must make a show of being committed to the great Moslem eschaton, the Caliphate an' all. Pakistani political parties, like the PML(N) contracted them to not only attack Imran Khan's people but Pakistain's own infrastructure, police, etc. We have details of transactions, testimonials.

The PML (N) is now in power. Pakistain wishes to put the pashtuns in their place since they cut Islamabad out of deals with China and refused to obey the Jama'at whip. Do the math.

Government-Affiliated Groups Hand Over Weapon To Men Of Dignity In Syria’s Suwayda
Aug 3, 2022
[NPASyria] Armed groups affiliated with Syrian government forces in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, continue to hand over weapons to Men of Dignity Movement after the latter gave them a deadline.

Two days ago, Men of Dignity Movement, the main faction in Suwayda, gave all the gangs affiliated with the government’s security branches a deadline to hand over their weapons.

On July 23, Suwayda witnessed a state of unrest, that lasted for more than a week, amid continuous protests against violations by gangs affiliated with the government’s Military Intelligence, which developed into armed festivities that led to the expulsion of the groups from the governorate.

The Men of Dignity is a self-defense militia established after the outbreak of the Syrian war to defend the Suwayda area. Described as a terror organization by Russia, it took an initial position against the Syrian government in the early days of the war but did not engage in any armed struggle with government forces.

A local source told North Press that the movement works on managing weapon possession in the hands of the abovementioned factions in order to restore security to the governorate and control bandidos and indiscriminate firing that were widespread in the area.

These steps come as a continuation of what the movement has already started in collaboration with honorable people of the governorate, as they have fought Death Eater gangs, that have practiced kidnapping, killing and drug manufacturing, according to leaders of the movement.

On Monday, a group affiliated with al-Fahd Forces that operate under the umbrella of the Military Intelligence handed over cars carrying machineguns, as a gesture that they will commit to the deadline, according to the source.

A state of anticipation prevails the governorate, after the popular movement that took place on 23 July, resulting in taking control of all headquarters of an gang affiliated with Military Security branch in Suwayda.

Earlier, Sheikh Laith al-Balous, the son of Sheikh Wahid al-Balous and the leader of the Men of Dignity Movement, announced that he had handed over six detainees to their families after they pledged that they will not follow saboteurs who can hit the internal fabric in the area.

The aforementioned detainees were arrested during an attempt to break into headquarters of a security group, according to local sources.

According to statistics of Health Directorate in Suwayda, the corpse count of the movement that took place lately in Suwayda, has reached 19 people from gangs and five from people in Suwayda.

Canada finds Jews were most-targeted religious minority for hate crimes in 2021
[IsraelTimes] Though just 1% of the population, Jewish people were victims of 14% of reported racial incidents, a jump of 47% over the year before and reflecting global trend

Canada’s 380,000 Jews were the most targeted religious minority for hate crimes reported to police in 2021, the country’s official numbers keeper reported Tuesday.

Statistics Canada said that the Jewish community, comprising about 1% of the population, were victims of 14% of reported hate crimes. Jews saw a 47% rise in reported hate crimes compared to 2020, according to the bureau.

"We are deeply concerned that incidents of hate crimes rose yet again in Canada in 2021," said Shimon Koffler Fogel, head of the Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs. "This disturbing trend clearly proves the need for more proactive measures to stop the rising hate targeting diverse Canadians based on their identity."

Only Black Canadians, who make up about 3.5% of the country’s population, reported more hate crimes. Overall, 1.3 Canadian Jews in every 1,000 reported being victims of hate crime in 2021.

"Statistically, Canadian Jews were more than 10 times more likely than any other Canadian religious minority to report being the target of hate crime," Fogel said. "This is alarming."

Canada’s official tally showed the same trend as tallies of antisemitic incidents in other countries last year.

The Netherlands, La Belle France and the United Kingdom all reported increased incidents of antisemitism, while the Anti-Defamation League, a nonprofit in the United States, said it recorded more antisemitic incidents last year than at any time since it began tracking incidents in 1979.

Statistics Canada cautioned in its crime report that "fluctuations in the number of reported incidents may be attributable to a true change in the volume of hate crimes, but they might also reflect changes in reporting by the public because of increased community outreach by police or heightened sensitivity after high-profile events."

ISIS Attacks Iran’s Militias In Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor
Aug 3, 2022
[NPASyria] Four forces of Evil of Iranian-backed militias were killed and five others were maimed on Tuesday in an attack launched by members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

Militants of ISIS targeted a training camp of the Iranian-backed militia in the outskirts of the town of al-Mayadin, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, with RPG-7, a military source from the town said.

The source, who preferred not to be named, added that the attack lasted for more than an hour. It resulted in the killing of four forces of Evil and the injury of five.

The ISIS members managed to control the camp and seize the weapons and ammunition after the forces of Evil of Liwa Fatemiyoun escaped, according to the source.

After that, the ISIS members set the camp to fire and escaped to the desert.

Iranian-backed militias and the government forces control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which constitutes a source of concern as it witnesses intensive operations by the ISIS sleeper cells.

The Syrian Desert covers nearly half of the area of Syria, and is distributed over the governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Rif Dimashq, Suwayda and Palmyra.

4 injured after NYPD cops exchange gunfire with group at Queens house party
[NYPOST] Four people were hurt and another four arrested after NYPD cops monitoring a Queens house party exchanged fire with a group that had showed up and started shooting on nearly 100 revelers, police said.

None of the injuries were life-threatening injuries, police said Saturday. Charges are pending.

Two of the suspected shooters who opened fire on the party were out on charges in other cases, including a robbery and a gun case, a police source told The Post.

"Make no mistake, the lives of detectives are in grave danger when they go to work in this city. The politicians, prosecutors, and judges who are releasing violent mostly peaceful people back to the streets combined with failed laws like ’raise the age’ are endangering the very detectives who arrest these recidivists — and the New Yorkers they courageously serve. And these officials remain as unaccountable as the criminals," said Paul DiGiacomo, head of the Detectives Endowment Association.

The NYPD is still sorting out if cops maimed the suspects.

I have the most tattooed privates in the world — it hurts but I'm brave
[NYPOST] She’s inked a new record.
Alert the media!
A British OnlyFans star says she has the most heavily tattooed vagina in the world, with an artist needing five separate sessions to needle her labia.
Boy, howdy. That's a resume entry to be envied by all.
Over the years, Becky Holt, 34, has spent more than $42,000 on a tattoo "bodysuit" with artworks adorning her entire frame, from her face to her feet.
Worth every farthing, I'm sure.
The blonde made sure not to neglect her pubic region, and recently sought to have the sensitive area inked — despite an intense amount of agony it caused.
Well, sure. Having your pee-pee needled is great fun, despite the pain. I sometimes whack mine with a two-by-four. That's fun, too, despite the pain.
You misspelt because of, Fred.
"I was in an incredible amount of pain," Holt told Ark Media of the fifth and final ink session that she underwent on July 5.
I once saw a picture of a woman who had "Glory!" tattooed around her bung hole. I've been trying to forget ever since.
"It’s quite embarrassing having a tattoo artist between your legs but it needed to be finished as I want my body suit to be fully complete," the mom-of-one added.
Embarrassment and pain. Who could ask for more? And just think what her "body suit" is gonna look like when she's 75.

Africa Horn
Somalia declares full solidarity with China in defending its sovereignty
A tad incoherent, but indicative — the new government of Somalia is feeling feisty. If Donald Trump were in the White House, the new government of Somalia would have known better than to poke their head above the parapets like this.
[Garowe] Somalia has strongly endorsed the People's Democratic Republic of China in the latest row with the United States, in what could trigger fresh controversy between Mogadishu and Washington.

For many years, the United States has been supporting Somalia, especially on matters of counterterrorism, with the war on al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
being on the frontline. The US has been training the Danab Special Forces who are critical in the fight against al-Shabaab hard boys.

China has been at loggerheads with the US following the decision by Speaker of the House Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
to visit the republic of China [Taiwan], a secessionist state of China. The visit has caused uproar around the world in what could cause major rifts.

On Saturday, Somalia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in support of China, arguing that Beijing's territorial integrity, adding that political independence should be respected as a matter of principle among nations.

The US has been at loggerheads with the US and Somalia's decision to back Beijing could tilt both policies and focus on the Horn of Africa. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been calling for tolerance among nations, in his bid to shape national cohesion.

"The Federal Government of Somalia declares its full solidarity with the People’s Republic of China in defending its illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity, while affirming its firm position to respect the one-China policy, considering Taiwan an inalienable part of China’s territory," the ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Somalia has long-standing relations with China, where cooperation between the two countries is distinguished in the political, economic, and development fields of common benefit, in addition to the joint coordination of positions in regional and international forums.

Ambassador Fei Shenchao condemned Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan as controversial and undiplomatic, adding that it was completely unnecessary for the top leader to visit the breakaway region of China which has been fighting for international recognition.

"Those who play with fire Will at the end of the day get themselves burned," said the Chinese ambassador to Mogadishu Fei Shengchao in an interview with various media houses in the country.

Abdirashid Hashi, an analyst on Somalia and Horn of Africa affairs dismissed the move, arguing that it was completely unnecessary because the US has been the most helpful country to Somalia throughout the time it has been undergoing tribulations.

"The closest and most helpful ally Somalia has is the United State; it is not Russia or China. That is a fact not an opinion. The US just gave Somalia close to 500 million dollar aid," he said. "If these giants squabble, Somalia’s best interest is to stay clear from their squabbling."

Taiwan has been fighting to separate from Somalia for a couple of years now and has been relating well with Somaliland, a breakaway region of Somalia. Taiwan has diplomatic ties with Somaliland, a state in Somalia that has been struggling for international recognition.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: August 6th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Korrespondent] 23:39 Zelensky announced a "significant aggravation" of the situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and criticized Amnesty International: "Despite the fact that Russian shelling of a nuclear power plant is one of the most dangerous crimes against Ukrainians and all Europeans, against the right to life of every person, for some reason then there is no report and even a simple message from Amnesty International about it. Very eloquent silence, which once again indicates the manipulative selectivity of this organization."

23:30 Zelensky said in an evening video message that this week the Armed Forces of Ukraine and intelligence have achieved "strong results" in destroying the logistics of the Russian army, the rear bases of the occupiers. The president also stressed that the Russian army would not change its tactics: “The invaders know that they are losing to the Ukrainians in direct battles, inferior in skill, and therefore the enemy relies on artillery and all-out shelling. They are trying to destroy everything in front of them and go to ruin".

According to Zelensky, a total of 1,060 settlements have already been liberated, and the vast majority of them require significant restoration work. That is why, according to him, one of the most important areas for August and September is the implementation of the Fast Recovery Plan - what needs to be done on the territory liberated from the enemy.

22:51 The joint coordinating center, as part of a food deal, allowed the release on Sunday, August 7, of four ships with food from Chernomorsk and Odessa, Russian media write.

22:33 2,000 residents were evacuated from the Donetsk region in a week, Irina Vereshchuk said. According to the minister, people are being evacuated to housing prepared for them in the Kirovograd, Poltava and Khmelnytsky regions. Upon arrival, they are provided with a cash payment of UAH 2,000 for adults and UAH 3,000 for children and the disabled. These payments will be made every month. Also, evacuees can count on funds from international organizations.

22:19 The Russian military is shelling the ZNPP in order to destroy its infrastructure and disconnect it from the energy system of Ukraine, Energoatom says: "Acts of nuclear terrorism at the Zaporizhzhya NPP - its artillery shelling - are aimed at destroying the infrastructure of the station, damaging all power lines through which electricity is supplied to energy system of Ukraine, de-energization of the south of the country".

The company is confident that the shelling of the station is highly likely to continue, and this can be prevented by the coordinated actions of security organizations, in particular the UN, the IAEA and WANO, as well as the constant pressure on Russia from the international community.

22:11 Western countries are concerned about the deepening of Turkey's ties with Russia, writes the Financial Times. Six Western officials told the publication they were concerned about a promise made at a meeting in Sochi by Putin and Erdogan to expand their cooperation in trade and energy. The West does not exclude any negative actions if Turkey gets too close to Russia.

21:50 In the Sumy region today, about 200 "arrivals" were recorded in a day - the Russians fired at the territories of the Esman, Glukhov, Burin, Shalygin, Belopol, Nikolaev communities, said the head of the OVA Dmitry Zhivitsky.

20:49 Dry cargo ship FULMAR S arrived at the port of Chornomorsk, Infrastructure Minister Alexander Kubrakov said: "For our part, we are doing everything possible so that our ports can receive and process much more ships. In particular, we plan to reach the level of at least 3-5 ships per day. Our goal is to reach a monthly transshipment volume in the ports of Odessa of 3 million tons of agricultural products."

20:30 In Nikolaev, where there is a curfew until Monday, they are looking for collaborators. As the head of the regional council, Anna Zamazeeva, said, all residents of the city are being tested. Departure is allowed for those from whom tickets were purchased in advance. Residents are checked by the relevant authorities in all residential buildings and apartments.

20:18 IAEA chief Rafael Grossi spoke about the risk of a nuclear catastrophe after the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant: "I am extremely concerned about yesterday's shelling of Europe's largest nuclear power plant, which underlines the real risk of a nuclear catastrophe that could threaten public health and the environment in Ukraine and beyond" .

According to Grossi, military actions that threaten the safety of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant "are completely unacceptable and must be prevented at all costs."

20:15 The Russians brought weapons and explosives to the Zaporozhye NPP , Andrey Yusov, a spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, said on the air of the telethon. Also, according to him, the invaders mined a number of communications - gas supply, electricity and water supply. According to Yusov, this is done before the "imminent counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."

19:09 The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the offensive actions of the Russian invaders in the Slavyansk, Bakhmut and Avdeevsky directions, the General Staff said in the evening summary .

18:05 The Turkish dry cargo ship FULMAR S is approaching the commercial seaport of Chornomorsk - the first ship since February 24, said Sergey Bratchuk, speaker of the Odesa OVA.

17:41 North Macedonia handed over tanks and planes to Ukraine, Podolyak said: "A friend in need is known. It doesn't matter what size your country or GDP, what matters is your heart. Many nations today show more courage than half of the G20. Like the North Macedonia, giving Ukraine a shoulder in the form of tanks and planes. We will never forget that."

17:13 Zelensky established a new award for the defense of Ukraine, which will be awarded not only to military personnel, but also to civilians, including volunteers and foreign citizens who have made a significant contribution to strengthening the defense of Ukraine.

16:29 Cars of residents of the Kherson region who have received Russian citizenship will be given state registration numbers with the code 184, Russian media report, citing a representative of the traffic police.

16:26 Russian propagandists report that the collaborator, "deputy head of the administration" of Nova Kakhovka Vitaly Gura, who was assassinated today, died on the way to Crimea.

15:48 A second vessel arrived at the port of Istanbul along the grain corridor. The Navistar ship is carrying 33,000 tons of corn from Odessa. After inspecting the vessel at the port of Istanbul, the cargo will go to the port of destination, Hurriyet reports.

15:25 Podolyak said that the Zaporozhye NPP should be transferred under the control of a special commission: “This Saturday morning in many European cities became possible because yesterday the Zaporizhzhya NPP miraculously did not take off into the air. Russia seized the station and is staging dangerous provocations. demand that Russia withdraw from the nuclear power plant and transfer it under the control of a special commission.

14:59 Borrell called on the Russian Federation to let international observers into the Zaporozhye NPP: "The EU condemns Russia's military activities around the Zaporizhzhya NPP. This is a serious and irresponsible violation of nuclear safety rules and another example of Russia's disregard for international norms. The IAEA must have access."

Earlier, Energoatom reported that the Ukrainian side does not want to let IAEA representatives into the Zaporizhzhia NPP, since this is how the organization, in which Russia has significant influence, is going to "legitimize the stay of the occupiers there and, in fact, approve all their actions."

14:15 The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that during the counter-battery fight in the Kharkiv region, "the Ukrainian platoon of the MLRS Alder and American HIMARS" was allegedly destroyed.

13:58 In Mariupol, the invaders are gathering prison cells on the stage of the chamber philharmonic society. In September, they plan to hold a show trial against the defenders of Ukraine, Mayor Vadim Boychenko said: "The Russian invaders continue to disregard all international norms. They continue to multiply war crimes, demonstrating disregard for the entire civilized world. I appeal to the international community, the UN and the Red Cross to intervene in the situation so that the rules for the treatment of prisoners of war work. We must do everything so that our defenders return to Ukraine alive and prevent a second Yelenovka in Mariupol."

13:26 In the center of occupied Berdyansk, an explosion was heard near the building of the city police department, the Center for Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports. According to local publics, the quarter was cordoned off by Russian troops, the explosion was clearly audible throughout the central part of the city.

13:15 The head of the Donetsk OVA, Pavel Kirilenko, denied the information about the capture of Pesok near Donetsk, as stated by the occupiers. According to him, the village remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: "I clearly know what I'm talking about - yes, it's very difficult in Pisky, but the command took additional measures so that the enemy's plans were not implemented." Kirilenko added that the command is aware of the enemy’s plans to capture Avdiivka from the south, part of which should be control over Pesky, and is taking countermeasures.

13:09 Erdogan said that he offered Putin to hold his meeting with Zelensky in Turkey.

13:06 Russian media report an assassination attempt in the occupied Novaya Kakhovka on "deputy head of administration" Vitaly Guru. He was allegedly shot with a Makarov pistol. According to sources, Gura is in a serious condition in the hospital.

12:19 SBU liquidated the Russian intelligence network, which collected intelligence about the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and the Pokrovsky district of Donbass. Six local residents recruited by the special services of the Russian Federation transmitted data through specially created Internet platforms in the form of coordinates on electronic maps with confirming photos and videos.

11:37 Danilov in an interview with TRK Kiev urged to be patient in the issue of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: "Let's be calm about these things when it happens. The military knows their job, they know when they need to start, and most importantly - as quickly, with as much as possible to do a useful thing for our country with fewer losses: to liberate our territories from the occupier."

According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, the so-called couch experts do not have information about the real situation. At the same time, Danilov recalled that the Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions had already been liberated from the invaders. He stressed that "we must be patient and see it all with our own eyes."

10:53 The Russians launched a missile attack on Konstantinovka, Donetsk region, at night. A five-story residential building was damaged, seven people were rescued from the rubble and from blocked apartments, said Pavel Kirillenko, head of the Donetsk OVA.

10:22 British intelligence predicts that Russia's war with Ukraine is about to enter a new phase, when the fiercest fighting will move to a front line stretching approximately 350 km southwest from Zaporozhye to Kherson, parallel to the Dnieper River. Now Russian forces are concentrating in the south in anticipation of a Ukrainian counteroffensive or in preparation for a possible offensive.

Russia is moving equipment and weapons from the Donbass to the southwest. Equipment is being moved to Crimea from the occupied Melitopol, Berdyansk, Mariupol, from the mainland of Russia through the Kerch bridge. Battalion-tactical groups of between 800 and 1,000 men have been deployed to Crimea and will almost certainly be used to support Russian troops in the Kherson region, analysts say.

So, on August 2, a new BTG was transferred to the Crimea, and the BTG of the eastern group of troops is also being redeployed. Most likely, in the coming days they will be sent to the Kherson region, intelligence predicts. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces are increasingly focusing their strikes on bridges, ammunition depots and railroad tracks in the southern regions. The targets include a strategically important railroad siding to try to influence Russia's ability to replenish resources.

09:40 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy on the morning of August 6. The enemy suffered the greatest losses in the Donetsk direction.

  • personnel - about 41,900 (+250) people liquidated,

  • tanks - 1802 (+10),

  • armored combat vehicles - 4051 (+19),

  • artillery systems - 955 (+5),

  • MLRS - 260 (+0),

  • air defense systems - 127 (+4),

  • aircraft - 223 (+0),

  • helicopters - 191 (+0),

  • UAV operational-tactical level - 744 (+2),

  • cruise missiles - 182 (+0),

  • ships/boats - 15 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tankers - 2970 (+6),

  • special equipment - 85 (+2).

09:34 The Russians fired last night at the highway transporting hydrogen to the ZNPP, said the head of the Zaporizhia OVA Alexander Starukh. There was a fire, there is no information about the victims. Also, as a result of damage to power lines, the 4th power unit of the station was disconnected from the power system and transferred to the reserve.

09:30 The occupiers fired at Kharkiv with rockets fired from Russian Belgorod. Only civilian infrastructure was hit, Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OVA, said. In particular, the Sloboda and Industrialny districts were affected. There was also a missile attack on the settlement of the Kharkov region. There are no victims or injured. According to the military, several missiles did not reach Ukraine, exploding on the territory of the Russian Federation, and several more missiles shot down the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the region during the day, two people were injured from shelling and hospitalized.

09:24 Russians fired at Nikolaev at night, two people are wounded, the head of OVA Vitaly Kim reported. Also, as a result of yesterday's shelling of the Ship District of the city, one person died, 21 were injured.

09:21 The Armed Forces of Ukraine hit two command posts of the 76th Airborne Assault Division and the 49th Army in Chernobaevka, as well as the Russians’ command post in Bruskinskoye and the accumulation of equipment in Oleshki. In addition, Ukrainian troops destroyed six ammunition depots in the Beryslav and Kherson regions, OK Pivden reports.

09:16 Russia pulled together 25 thousand military men to the south of Ukraine to try to surround Nikolaev, writes The Times. At the same time, 10,000 military personnel are located on the western bank of the Dnieper, southeast of Nikolaev, which makes the offensive possible. The reason for such actions is the statements about the counteroffensive and the successful advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front 2 km away from Nikolaev. An offensive may also be necessary for Russia to put the bridges across the Dnieper at Kherson out of HIMARS' reach. At the same time, experts state that ferry crossings will not help the occupiers to replace deliveries by road, and using pontoon bridges is very risky.

08:41 The Russian army at night fired at the Nikopol district from Gradov, from the barrel artillery - the Krivoy Rog district of the Dnepropetrovsk region, said the head of the OVA Valentin Reznichenko. Residential areas were damaged. As a result, three people were injured, residential buildings, a kindergarten and a children's art house were damaged. The gas pipeline, water supply and electricity network were put out of action.

In the Krivoy Rog region, the enemy hit the Zelenodolsk community. In Maryanskoe, a power line was broken, part of the village was left without electricity. Previously, no people were hurt.

08:37 The Russians may be mining the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in anticipation of the future offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, writes The Insider. According to sources of the publication, military trucks allegedly with explosives drove into the engine rooms of several power units.

08:10 In the Donetsk region, as a result of Russian shelling, five civilians per day were killed - two in Experienced, one each in Avdeevka, Soledar and Pervomaisky. Another 14 people were injured, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the OVA, said.

07:59 Russian occupiers once again went on the offensive in the Avdeevsky and Bakhmut directions. The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the enemy’s offensive in the directions of Yakovlevka-Vershina, Kodema-Zaitsevo and Lozovoye-Nevelskoye, the General Staff said in a morning report .

05:11 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) notes that Russian troops are likely to continue to use positions around the ZNPP to shell Nikopol from the opposite side of the Kakhovka reservoir. The British Ministry of Defense also believes that Russian troops use facilities at the ZNPP and in the city of Energodar as a refuge, where they rest and protect their equipment from Ukrainian strikes, given the nuclear power plant's protective status.

Also, ISW experts report that Russian troops conducted unsuccessful ground assaults on settlements south of Bakhmut and unsuccessfully tried to advance into Lozovoe, Kherson region, probably targeting the Ukrainian bridgehead on the Ingulets River. In addition, the Russians carried out several limited ground attacks north, northwest and southwest of Donetsk. Russian and Ukrainian forces have exchanged heavy artillery fire in Pisky, an indication that the Russians are unlikely to gain full control of Pisky, according to ISW analysts.

00:14 The European Commission has developed a new project of the already promised financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 8 billion euros: 5 billion will be given in the form of loans, 3 billion in the form of non-repayable grants, writes Politico. There are no deadlines yet, but the European Commission is aiming to get approval from the European Parliament and EU countries in September so that payments can begin in October.

Syrian National Army (Ottoman Proxies): factions fight among themselves as group cohesion frays
Tension Rises Among Turkish-Backed Factions In Syria’s Aleppo
Aug 5, 2022
[NPASyria] The city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, north Syria, witnessed a military tension between two factions affiliated with the Turkish-backed opposition Syrian National Army (SNA).

A military tension rose between Sultan Murad faction and Hamza Division after the latter installed a new military post, advancing on a post belonging to Sultan Murad in Tadef, east of the city, an exclusive source told North Press.

The Sultan Murad faction opposed the establishment of the military post amidst a military alert between the two parties, the source added.

The tension between the two parties extended to the city of Afrin, where the city witnessed a military alert between the two factions late yesterday evening, amid sporadic shooting, the source noted.

The source indicated that the state of tension and alertness between the two factions coincided with artillery shelling by the Syrian government forces on the outskirts of the city of al-Bab.

Hamza Division brought in military reinforcements, including vehicles loaded with heavy machine guns and militants to the village of al-Kuraizat in the countryside of al-Bab, while Sultan Murad faction mobilized its center in the city, according to the source.

Since 2017, the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo has been under the control of the opposition factions.

Al-Bab is considered a gateway for carrying out smuggling operations with the Syrian government-controlled areas, amid persistent tendencies among the opposition factions to establish their posts in the area with the aim of gaining the largest amount of profits from the smuggling operations that take place on an ongoing basis.

The SNA-held areas undergo security chaos, including explosions, persistent fighting between the factions and assassinations in light of the factions’ failure to maintain security there.

Turkish-Backed Syrian Opposition Witnesses Wave Of Defections Reorganizations
Aug 2, 2022
[NPASyria] Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), are witnessing continuous defections despite of the delicate stage that Turkey is passing through nowadays, threating to launch a military operation on Syria’s north on a daily basis.

In October 2021, Hayat Thaeroon for Liberation, a military formation in the SNA, was formed after the integration of Faylaq al-Sham, Sultan Murad, al-Muntaser Billah, Thuwar al-Sham factions, in addition to Liwa al-Shamal, Ninth Squad and Liwa 112.

Recently, the above mentioned factions have begun to split for multiple reasons, according to reports.

On Sunday, a group of Levant Front faction, a main component of the SNA, announced defection in the city of Marea, in the northern countryside of Aleppo Governorate.

A source told North Press that a group of the Levant Front faction consists of 250 militants announced defection with their light weapons to join the Mu’tasim Division, another faction of the SNA.

The defection came as a response to the failure of the Levant Front faction’s management to pay them salaries for over than 50 days, according to the source.

A source close to the SNA said that there are many reasons that encourage the militants to defect, most notably feeling of frustration and the continuous failure to achieve changes in the Syrian arena.

There are other reasons such as low salaries, as each militant gets only 400 Turkish liras (about $25) per month, in addition to delayed in paying salaries for two months or more, the source added.

He pointed out that the militants of these factions do not trust their leaders, resulting in a clear rift between them.

Lack of both strict military regulations to prevent defections and influential military power to balance between the factions has increased chaos and flopping in these factions, according to the source.

The interactions that happen between these factions have the main role in yielding new blocs within the opposition.

On July 19, Sultan Suleiman Shah, also known as al-Amshat, and Hamza Division, factions affiliated with the SNA, announced their defection from Hayat Thaeroon for Liberation that includes many factions in the northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo.

A few days later, Malik Shah faction announced that it had left the formation of the Third Legion in the SNA to join Hayat Thaeroon for Liberation.

The defections in ranks of the Turkish-backed SNA come in tandem with Turkey’s intention to launch a military operation in north and east of Aleppo, in the cities of Tel Rifaat and Manbij respectively.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently announced plans to carry out another major military cross-border incursion into northern Syria. Erdogan specified his targets in the two northern Syrian cities of Manbij and Tel Rifaat. On July 1, Erdogan said that Ankara’s new military operation in northern Syria could begin at any moment.

“The time has come to clear these lands from the terrorist organizations,” Erdogan threatened during Tehran Summit. Tehran Summit, on July 19, brought together presidents of each of Iran, Russia and Turkey with the Syrian issue and Turkish threats on the top of its agenda.

Troops kill suspected bomber in southern Philippines
[BenarNews] Troops in the southern Philippines killed a suspected bomber identified as a member of the local affiliate of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
murderous Moslem group and captured another during a predawn encounter Friday on the island of Mindanao, the military said.

Two improvised bombs (IED) were recovered following the clash with Daulah Islamiyah (DI) terror group members in the village of Dicalungan in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao province, a military official said.

Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., commander of Western Mindanao Command, said troops from the 40th Infantry Battalion clashed with the DI-Hassan Group whose leader is known as "Alpha King" early Friday after tracking the group’s location.

"The faceless myrmidons are desperate enough to show their force to gain popular support from the civil society," Rosario said. "Rest assured that we will stop them from creating havoc on peaceful communities.

"The firefight resulted in one enemy killed and another captured," Rosario said while noting other members escaped.

The DI is the Philippine name for the Islamic State. It has links to Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
, the dominant terrorist group in the south whose members have been blamed for suicide kabooms, beheadings of kidnap victims and a five-month siege of the city of Marawi in 2017.

The dead man was identified as Khamhed Akan Kambal alias Meds, a known DI Hassan Group bomber, while the captured suspect was identified as Nasrudin Sali Blah, 22, Rosario said. The military confirmed that Kambal’s body was turned over to village officials to allow for burial following Islamic rites.

After the clash, troops recovered the two IEDs, including one with 105 mm howitzer round as its main charge, bomb components consisting of several pieces of 9-volt batteries, nine cellphones, a remote control and a .45-caliber pistol.

The military and police said the howitzer shell could be unwent kaboom! artillery fired in a previous clash with holy warriors.

Afghanistan
Former Afghan President Karzai Says Ban on Afghan Girls’ Education Ordered by Pakistan
Hamid Karzai said it, so it might be true. Or not. Either way, it garners him attention and provides an excuse for the two parties to quarrel.
[KhaamaPress] Former Afghan president Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
...Former president of Aghanistan, part of the problem not part of the solution...
said that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s policy to bar Afghan girls from attending school was made on Pakistain’s orders rather than in accordance with Islamic law.

According to Hamid Karzai, a former Afghan president, Pakistain ordered the ban on girls’ schools. He stated that the Taliban cannot erase the people’s accomplishments over the previous 2 decades in an interview with the German magazine Spiegel.

Karzai stated that denying girls the opportunity to attend school will result in an impoverished Afghanistan, isolated, and incapable of standing on its own feet.

Former President Karzai added that "the goal of Pakistain is a defenseless, weak and poor Afghanistan that does not pose any problem to Pakistain."

Despite pressure from the international community as well as certain Islamic nations, the Taliban leadership has refused to reopen girls’ schools and has instead kept middle and high schools closed to female students.

However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
Taliban officials have stated that efforts are being made to reopen the schools.

Taliban officials claim that there are continuous talks among the group’s leadership to reopen secondary and high schools for girls, however, they have never formally stated why they have banned them.

In addition, Karzai stated that some Taliban officials are in favor of reopening girls’ schools.

"Millions of boys and girls have received an education, Afghanistan’s society has evolved, and they have had access to media freedom," he said. "Even the Taliban cannot easily take this back from the Afghans."

Following the overthrow of the Taliban, Karzai served as president of Afghanistan from 2001 to 2014.

#1  I agree that the Pakistani goal is a weak Afghanistan. I disagree with the idea that the Taliban can't erase 20 years of progress. The Taliban are kind of like the Amish, if the Amish were bloodthirsty, horny pedophiles. Other than that, they are exactly the same.

[JPost] "Hundreds"! even, so what's their game?

...President Obama’s expensively futile project to unite the various Arab-Israeli political parties into one fist, with which he planned to beat Bibi Netanyahu’s government. condemned Israel’s decision to launch the operation.

Hundreds of people protested against Operation Breaking Dawn on Saturday in differing locations throughout the country.

At a protest in Haifa, Joint List chairman Ayman Odeh said: "A round [of fighting] brings another round, more killing and more resistance. The circle of horror needs to stop. We came out to protest together for the only way that will benefit both nations — real negotiations to end the occupation, founding a Palestinian state alongside Israel and a just peace."

MK Aida Touma-Sliman (Joint List) also joined one of the protests.

"Stop the attack on Gaza! Continuing the war on Gaza will only lead to more suffering and casualties," she said. "An immediate ceasefire is necessary — those who started it with a political decision should end it with a political decision. Only a diplomatic solution and an end to the occupation and siege will bring true security."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Head of Amnesty Ukraine quits over rights report
[Al Ahram] Amnesty sparked outrage in Ukraine when it released a report on Thursday accusing the military of endangering civilians by establishing bases in schools and hospitals, and launching counterattacks from heavily populated areas.

"If you don't live in a country invaded by occupiers who are tearing it to pieces, you probably don't understand what it's like to condemn an army of defenders," Amnesty's Oksana Pokalchuk said on social media, announcing her resignation late Friday.

"And there are no words in any language that can convey this to someone who has not experienced this pain."

Pokalchuk said she had tried to warn Amnesty's big shotship that the report was one-sided and failed to take into account the position of Ukraine's defence ministry, but she was ignored.

"As a result, the organization unintentionally put out a statement that sounded like support for Russian narratives. Striving to protect civilians, this research instead became a tool of Russian propaganda."

Amnesty listed incidents in which Ukrainian forces appeared to have exposed civilians to danger in 19 towns and villages in the Kharkiv, Donbas and Mykolaiv regions.

"We have documented a pattern of Ukrainian forces putting civilians at risk and violating the laws of war when they operate in populated areas," Amnesty secretary general Agnes Callamard said.

"Being in a defensive position does not exempt the Ukrainian military from respecting international humanitarian law."

Ukraine's government pushed back hard, with Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba branding the allegations "unfair" and Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov calling the report a "perversion".

President Volodymyr Zelensky said the rights group had tried to "amnesty the terrorist state and shift the responsibility from the aggressor to the victim."

The tribal elder was reportedly shot and killed on Friday, August 6, according to reports by local media.

The tribal leader’s name was Malek Jameel, and according to the local media, who cited their sources, he was forcefully taken out of his residence on Friday, August 5, by unidentified gunnies before being rubbed out.

Sources claim that he was taken from his house on Friday night and his dead body was found the next morning.

According to the source, the victim had no animosity against anyone, and it is still unknown who killed him and why.

Furthermore, according to reports, locals blocked the Torkham-Jalalabad route for almost two hours in protest at the tribal elder’s death.

The protesters called for justice and urged the security officials to apprehend the criminal(s) responsible for the crime.

On Friday, another tribal elder was killed by unidentified attackers while performing morning prayers at a mosque in the Chaparhar district of the eastern Nangarhar province.

#5  Karzai did a lot of good for Afghan women, TW. As much as moslemnity can allow, stretched to its limits. Schools, universities, proper healthcare, family inspectors, judges appointed to police domestic abuse, child marriage etc. India helped too. Thousands of Afghan teachers, lawyers, doctors and nurses were educated in our universities, even their top ANDF officers recieved training in our academies.

He must be pissed watching his legacy turned to shit because of all this. Pakistain cannot order the Taliban anything anymore. I reckon Karzai is trying to insult the Taliban into denouncing the wimmin oppressing doctrines they learnt under the jamaat teach, the one that they haven't outgrown yet.
He wants to challenge their sense of individuality or something, into giving the population some respite from inhuman religious rules created in Islamabad and rural India by total bumpkins.

The Taliban are goons. Thugs, wanting their own Emirate, funded, armed and recognised by the west as a State. They are trying all sorts of postures to achieve an optic which gets them there. And they figure breaking from both Brotherhood and Jamaat versions of Islam and establishing a third flavour. And so far it's a mish mash of stuff, really transparent thuggery disguised as some kind of 'well policed' society. Soon, they may present the west a facade of girls going to school, women working in some offices etc. To get the 'tranches' going 😉. Everyone is not as stupid as the Biden administration, you see. And they'll want more and more money to get an economy going. But so far they're not really doing a good PR job.

Because as the pakis know, the pashtun is essentially an underdeveloped idiot. His barbaric brain is not meant for much else beyond animal survival. Add to that Islam and you get a complete knuckle dragging sasquatch.

It is the modern world's fault for supplying islamic societies with the fruits of civilization. Democracy, constitution, industry, infrastructure, banking... they should never have been given anything. The most anyone can do for islamics, is give them an option to convert to any other religion before putting them out of their misery.

Karzai too should have stayed in India after his education, except he went back to rule in hell.

#7  They all did, Murcek. Ghani was no better. That's what I'm trying to say, this place, these societies... they don't see your high egalitarian ideals or the bill of rights or some righteous humanist cause in the establishment of democracy, parliaments, bureaucracies, judiciaries.

What they see is perfectly running, well oiled gravy trains. Systems of coercion and extortion where even the wily and cowardly can enjoy the power enjoyed by goons and tough guys.

And that's the only reason they ask you to come and help them build 'democracies'. And then you sit back and wonder why it's never working for them like it worked for you and billions of other honest people around the world.

It's not for them. Just like it's not for Africans.

US military in Africa gets new commander as terror attacks rise in Somalia
[Garowe] The US Africa Command [Africom] has received a new commander, just as al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...

hard boyz intensified attacks within Somalia and across the borders, particularly in Æthiopia, a country that had successfully tamed the Death Eaters.

Lt. Gen. Michael Langley was confirmed by the Senate as the successor of General Stephen Townsend, who has been in charge of the troops for the last three years. Lt. Gen. Michael Langley is the first Black four-star general in Marine Corps history.

Senators unanimously voted for the promotions earlier this week after the upper chamber’s Armed Services Committee praised the men for their "exceptional" qualifications at a confirmation hearing last month.

According to the Stripes, Langley will break a racial barrier that stood in the Marine Corps for 246 years. More than 70 white men rose to the Marine Corps’ top ranks during that time.

During his speech, Langley said during his confirmation hearing in late July that the global security environment was "the most challenging I’ve seen throughout my 37 years [of service]."

The son of an Air Force noncommissioned officer, Langley grew up on racially diverse bases. He said last year that he did not experience discrimination until his father retired in the early 1970s and moved the family to "cowboy country" in Texas.

"Yes, we had challenges at an early age, and I think that prepared me for leadership of all Marines, regardless of color, regardless of creed, religion, orientation," Langley said. "That experience at a young age prepared me to be a platoon commander years after that."

Langley was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1985. He has commanded at every level, from platoon to regiment, and served overseas in Afghanistan, Japan and Somalia.

He now leads Marine Forces Command and Marine Forces Northern Command and is the commander of Fleet Marine Force Atlantic in Norfolk, Va. Prior to that posting, Langley led U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and Africa from Germany. He stepped into the role after his predecessor was removed for allegedly using a racial slur for Black Americans in front of troops, The Stripes added.

Langley called the move a "positive step" in a written response to a set of questions from the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"A stable and prosperous African continent is increasingly important to the United States — politically, economically, and militarily — and will become even more so in the future," he wrote.

A fortnight ago, al-Shabaab hard boyz crossed over to Æthiopia, forcing security forces in the country to open fire which left 100 of them dead. On Thursday, reports indicated that a number of Æthiopian army generals visited Somalia for a series of security talks.

The hard boyz are keen to infiltrate Æthiopia, a country that is a major security partner of Somalia. Currently, there are about 4,000 Æthiopian soldiers serving in the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Æthiopia who have been instrumental in the al-Shabaab war.

Fundamentally, the changes come just months after the US redeployed over 500 soldiers to Somalia, a year after they were withdrawn. Somalia has been battling against violent mostly peaceful extremism for the last couple of years and the US has pledged imminent support.

Ethiopia: Over 800 Al-Shabab’s Militants Killed Including 24 Top Leaders
[ShabelleMedia] More than 800 faceless myrmidons of the terrorist al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
group have been killed, including twenty-four leaders of the group, following the measure taken by security forces, according to the National Defense Force.

National Defense Force Deployment Head and Acting Security Command Post Coordinator, Major General Tesfaye Ayalew said terrorist al-Shabaab group which tried to infiltrate through Eastern Æthiopia has been successfully thwarted by the joint efforts of the security forces.

Major General Tesfaye revealed that the attempt of the terrorist al-Shabaab group, which tried to enter the country from 21 July 2022, was fully thwarted by joint operation of the security forces.

According to him, foreign enemies who want to destabilize Æthiopia employed domestic dark forces.

When enemies believed that their plot did not work out as they had hoped, Gen.Tesfaye underscored that they made a futile attempt to reinforce al-Shabaab against Æthiopia behind the curtain.

This evil deed of the enemies’ attempt intends to obstruct the promising reform and development undertakings Æthiopia has embarked on its natural resources.

Al-Shabaab tried to carry out an attack in the areas bordering Æthiopia and Somalia by infiltrating some of its forces in 16 vehicles and some of them traveling to Æthiopia on foot during dark time.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
Major General Tesfaye said that terrorist fighters who tried to infiltrate through Eastern Æthiopia were totally destroyed including its leaders by the national defense force and Somali special force.

The Æthiopian Air Force hit selected targets and destroyed the logistics, weapons stockpile and food depots that the terrorist group had planned to use for a long time.

The air strike was also able to destroy 24 leaders of the terrorist group including Propaganda Chief, Fu’ad Muhammad Keleif (Shengole), Abdulaziz Abu Musa, Spokesperson of the group, Ubeda Nur Isse, Head of al-Shabaab’s Bokol Zone and the Æthiopian borders and among many others.

The operation carried out by the National Defense Force, along with the air force and the Somali Region special forces and people have proved the courage of the nation, Major General Tesfaye Ayalew underlined.

He added this victory gave lesson to the forces, trying to invade Æthiopia, that they should think twice.

According to Major-General Tesfaye, the operation carried out by the security forces practically demonstrated the heroic deeds of the Æthiopian Defense Force and Air Force as well as Somali Region Special Force and people that provide lesson to those who attempt to attack Æthiopia have to rethink before their action.

The people of the region have provided an immense support to the security forces.

Somali Region Special Force Commander, Commissioner General Mehammad Ahmad said the terrorist group had attempted attacks in border area of Atoe, Yed, Elberde and Wosha.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
General Mehammad said, at that time, the Æthiopian Defense Force and Somali Region Special Force fought bravely and demonstrated their nationalism to their country.

Accordingly, some 813 faceless myrmidons of al-shabaab including 24 ringleaders of the group have been killed during the operation, he said noting this could be the first time that al-Shabaab has lost so many of its core leaders at a single time.

According to him, huge amount of weapons have been destroyed including the heavy trucks the terrorist group had used to infiltrate its faceless myrmidons into Æthiopia.

Several other armaments including Dushka have also been surrendered from the group.
