Eli Lilly is testing passive covid-19 vaccine
h/t Instapundit
[MIT tech review] - The drug: Early in the coronavirus pandemic, companies searched the blood of covid-19 survivors for potent antibodies against the novel virus. Eli Lilly’s drug is one of these Y shaped proteins—it’s a natural antibody manufactured at larger scale.

The trial: To carry out the study, which will involve 2,400 people, Lilly will work with the National Institutes of Health to target nursing homes with covid-19 outbreaks. In some areas, elderly residents in nursing homes account for the majority of covid-19 deaths.

How it works: Just like natural antibodies, Lilly’s antibody should grab onto the virus and block it. Similar antibody treatments proved effective in treating Ebola disease, but the goal here is to prevent infection by giving the drugs earlier. Prevention with antibodies is known to work. There is an antibody shot given to babies that prevents RSV, a respiratory infection striking newborns.

Passive immunity: Vaccines expose the body to a part of the pathogen, leading to "active immunity"—your body learns to makes its own antibodies against a germ. Adding antibodies artificially generates "passive" immunity which lasts only as long as the antibodies. Researchers say antibodies, delivered usually via an IV, can stay in the bloodstream for weeks or months.
So that is what Trump been talking about: "Trump says coronavirus vaccine possible before Nov. 3" [https://www.ynetnews.com/article/HkCKl5YZw] !!! I thought he went bananas.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine tests positive ahead of Trump visit UPDATE: 2nd test is negative
[Ynet] Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine tested positive Thursday for the coronavirus just ahead of a planned meeting with President Donald Trump.

The Republican governor's office said he took the test as part of standard protocol before he was to meet Trump at an airport in Cleveland. He had planned to join the president on a visit to the Whirlpool Corp. plant in northwest Ohio.

His office said the 73-year-old DeWine had no symptoms but was returning to Columbus before Trump had landed. His office said he and his wife, Fran DeWine, will both be tested there. DeWine then plans to quarantine at his home in Cedarville for 14 days.
Here’s hoping he continues to be one of the mild cases — and he did persuade the state pharmacy board to fill prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine as a treatment/prophylaxis for COVID-19, so he has that going for him.

Update from Cincinnati.com at 10:00 p.m. EDT
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine tests negative on second COVID-19 test

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine's second COVID-19 test came back negative Thursday evening.

DeWine tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday morning using a rapid test. That test was part of the protocol to greet President Donald Trump on the tarmac at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland.

DeWine then returned to Columbus and took a second COVID-19 test from Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center. That polymerase chain reaction or PCR test came back negative late Thursday night.

First Lady Fran DeWine and staff members also tested negative.

The first test was an antigen test. The second test was a PCR test, which looks at specific genetic material for the virus. It's known to be more sensitive and accurate.

PCR tests for the governor, first lady and staff were run twice and came back negative both times. They were run on two different diagnostic platforms.

"We feel confident in the results from Wexner Medical Center," DeWine said in a released statement. "This is the same PCR test that has been used over 1.6 million times in Ohio by hospitals and labs all over the state."

Antigen or rapid tests aren't prevalent in Ohio yet. They are newer technology and DeWine plans to look into them further.

"We will be working with the manufacturer to have a better understanding of how the discrepancy between these two tests could have occurred," DeWine said in the statement.

Mike and Fran DeWine plan to take another PCR test Saturday, out of an abundance of caution and at the direction of doctors. Those results will be released.

DeWine had planned to quarantine for 14 days at his Cedarville home.

"I spend most days right here anyway," DeWine said via videoconference from the front porch of his home. "I’m on the phone a lot. I’m on conference calls a lot. So far my work is not going to be impacted."

Julian Assange testimony requested in Rich v Fox News August 5, 2020, Seth Rich involvement in DNC email and document leak, UK court per Hague Convention
Attorney Clevenger is a persistent attorney. He may succeed in bringing out information regarding Seth Rich before the Hague Court. It is not clear whether such testimony would be recognized in the U.S. Courts. Nonetheless, this could be interesting in showing whether the information obtained from the DNC computers might be a hack by Russians or an inside job download by a staffer.
[CitizenWells] Julian Assange testimony requested in Rich v Fox News August 5, 2020, Seth Rich involvement in DNC email and document leak, UK court per Hague Convention

"Ms. Sines’s testimony flatly contradicts the FBI’s claims that (1) it did not investigate matters pertaining to Mr. Rich; (2) it did not examine his computer; and (3) it conducted a "reasonable" search but could not locate any records or communications about Mr. Rich. Specifically, Ms. Sines’s testimony flatly contradicts the affidavit testimony of FBI Section Chief David M. Hardy."...Attorney Ty Clevenger March 29, 2020

"I repeatedly asked U.S. Attorney John Durham and DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz to investigate whether Mr. Hardy lied under oath, and in an April 22, 2020 letter Mr. Horowitz wrote that he referred my complaint to the FBI’s Inspection Division. Was Mr. Hardy forced out?"...Attorney Ty Clevenger July 22, 2020

"Re: Seth Rich, keep an eye on the National Security Division of the Justice Department. As you can see from the federal complaint, the NSD ignored a FOIA request that I filed back in 2018 for records about Seth Rich. And look at Paragraph 16, plus Exhibit 8. I think NSD is playing a bigger role in the "Russian hacking" narrative than most of us understood. By sending Seth Rich records there, it’s easier to keep things classified. So why would a "street robbery" investigation need to be classified?"...Attorney Ty Clevenger July 22, 2020

7) Which individual(s) and/or entit(y/ies) provided the DNC emails and documents to WikiLeaks?

8) Which individual(s) and/or entit(y/ies) obtained those materials from the DNC?

9) Describe any role played by Seth Rich to your knowledge in obtaining those materials and/or providing them to WikiLeaks.

10) To your knowledge, has WikiLeaks ever offered a reward for information related to a murder that occurred in the United States other than in relation to the murder of Seth Rich? If so, on how many occasions?

19) If so, (a) who communicated with the Rich family? And (b) what, to Mr. Assange’s knowledge, was the content of such communication(s)?

Riotous BLM Protesters Suddenly Realize They're All White People
[Babylon Bee] A Black Lives Matter protest in South Carolina started to get out of hand, with people screaming at police officers stationed nearby. It threatened to get violent until the protestors paused after noticing they were all white.

"We will not let your system oppress us!" shouted one protestor, to which a black officer responded, "What do you mean by ‘we'?" The protestor said he meant people of color, but it was at that time that he took inventory of the protestors behind him and was unable to find anyone other than white people.

The protestors insisted they had some black people with them earlier, but it appeared that they had all left when the protest started to get out of hand. "It's possible they had jobs," suggested one protestor.

Though initially shaken by the lack of black lives in their Black Lives Matter protest, the protestors soon got back to throwing things and screaming at police officers in their attempt to battle racism. "We still need to fight for black lives," said one protestor, "even if they want nothing to do with us."

The group has taken out a want ad hoping to hire a few black people to join their next event.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia plans to remove radioactive subs, reactors from its Arctic sea floor
[NY Post] Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom is planning to remove the most dangerous radioactive items from the country’s Arctic seafloor, according to a media report.

State news agency TASS reports that the six most radioactive items will be removed from the seafloor over the next 8 years.

The objects include the sunken parts of an icebreaker, reactors with spent nuclear fuel and nuclear submarines, according to TASS.

Citing Rosatom, TASS reported that the objects create 90% of the background radiation in the Russian Arctic. A spokesperson for the Russian state atomic energy corporation told TASS that these include reactors with spent nuclear fuel from the submarines K-11, K-19 and K-140, the intact subs K-27 and K-159 and spent nuclear fuel from the icebreaker "Lenin."

Rosatom did not immediately respond to a Fox News request for comment.

On its website, Russia’s nuclear submarine decommissioning organization puts the cost of raising the six objects at 278 million Euros ($327.8 million).

Environmental organization the Bellona Foundation recently reported that nuclear officials from Norway and Russia have met online to discuss raising sunken nuclear subs in the Arctic. Most of the subs were deliberately scuttled by the Soviet military during the Cold War, according to the Oslo-based non-profit organization. K-159 was being towed to a scrapyard when it sank during a storm in the Barents Sea on Aug. 30, 2003, according to Getty. Nine crew members died in the sinking.

Jumblatt calls for international investigation as Macron visits Lebanon
[EN.ANNAHAR] Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Wally Jumblat
...Druze politician, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, who's been on every side in Leb at least four times. He'll sell you his friends for a dollar, but family comes higher because of shipping and handling...
called for an international investigation into the blast that rocked Beirut this week, citing a lack of confidence in local authorities. "There is no confidence in a local investigation committee or in this government and we demand an international investigation committee to uncover the truth on how this incident happened," he said.

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
Thursday in a bit to alleviate the concerns of Lebanon's population who was dealt with this massive blow.

Speaking with news hounds who were present at Beirut's airport, Macron assured that any aid would be funneled through NGOs and the UN to ensure that they reach Lebanese. The comment appeared as a slight to Lebanese politicians, long accused of wide-scale corruption and incompetence.

#1  I think Antifa wearing uniforms and standardized personal protective equipment is a good thing. It makes target acquisition far simpler. Plus the Geneva Conventions on treating enemy combatants clearly will apply so the POW camps must be up to standard for the Swiss Red Cross inspection of prisoners. And after victory is achieved the US can go about releasing the POWs back to their future. All that pesky legal crap is avoided by making them enemy combatants which they clearly are.

It has started: Hundreds of Belgians take Bill Gates, Belgium and WHO advisor to court
[Via Google Translate] Hundreds of angry Belgians take Bill Gates, Belgium and a British epidemiologist to court. They want all corona measures to be abolished. The lawsuit was brought by his 240 Belgians from the Viruswaanzin.be group .

Their lawyer, Michael Verstraeten, told The Brussels Times that the measures violate our freedoms and do more harm than good.

"Without a lockdown, there would have been fewer deaths," said Verstraeten. "You have no idea how many people die because of lockdowns. We believe that other measures are needed, measures that do not harm the economy, and that do not limit the rights and freedoms of the people. "

Virus madness states that governments have made policy choices based on flawed models and acted out of panic. The group demands 10,000 euros per complainant for each day that the measures remain in effect.

Michelle Obama: Former US first lady says she has 'low-grade depression'
[BBC] Former US First Lady Michelle Obama has said she is suffering from "low-grade depression" because of the pandemic, racial injustice and the "hypocrisy" of the Trump administration.

She said managing "emotional highs and lows" required "knowing yourself" and "the things that do bring you joy".

Mrs Obama said she has had difficulties with her exercise routine and sleep.

"I'm waking up in the middle of the night because I'm worrying about something or there's a heaviness."
"Even scratching my balls has lost all pleasure"
She made the comments during the second episode of her eponymous podcast, for which she was interviewing US journalist Michele Norris.

"These are not, they are not fulfilling times, spiritually," Mrs Obama said. "I know that I am dealing with some form of low-grade depression.

"Not just because of the quarantine, but because of the racial strife, and just seeing this administration, watching the hypocrisy of it, day in and day out, is dispiriting."

Sen. Hirono Walks Out of Hearing After Refusing to Denounce or Criticize Antifa
[LI] Democrats have been loudly silent on Antifa and their domestic terrorist-like tactics. During a hearing discussing nationwide protests, Sen. Hirono (D-HI) refused to criticize Antifa.
possibly one of the dimmest bulbs and least self-aware tools in the Senate, and that's a high bar
She mentioned freedom of speech and then suggested any attempt to get a Democrat on record criticizing the group of thugs was little more than political gamesmanship. And in some ways, the latter is true, but this one is easy — Antifa is destroying businesses, property, livelihoods, that’s just a fact. There ought to be unilateral criticism of such behavior, and yet...

Russian fella Igor Grechushkin connection to Beirut Warehouse #12 blast
[MAIL] Lebanon has placed every official responsible for the security of Beirut's port for the last six years under house arrest as it investigates a massive explosion which has devastated the city.

The country's political leaders vowed those responsible for the tragedy would 'pay the price', but customs officials pointed the finger of blame back at them - saying they were repeatedly warned of the danger but failed to act.

It came as an astonishing photo emerged, purporting to show the dock's Warehouse 12 filled with ammonium nitrate - with the highly explosive chemical stored in simple construction sacks with no other protection in place.

The dangerous load is understood to have been abandoned by Russian businessman Igor Grechushkin in September 2013 before eventually being transferred to the port where it remained for six years.

A ship carrying the load was detained en route from Batumi, in the ex-Soviet republic Georgia, to Mozambique, and never recovered.

On Tuesday evening a fire that started in Warehouse 9 ignited 2,750 tons of the chemical - sparking an explosion with three kilotons of force, equivalent to a fifth the size of the Hiroshima nuclear blast.

Democrats Gutted Anti-Hezbollah Legislation Days Before Attack on Israel
[Free Beacon] Just days before the Iranian-funded terror group Hezbollah waged a terrorist attack on Israel’s northern border, congressional Democrats gutted legislation that would have halted U.S. funding to the Lebanese military, which is almost entirely controlled by the terror group.

Congress has been working on legislation that would slash millions in American taxpayer funding to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), which has long been under Hezbollah’s thumb. Republican lawmakers in both the House and Senate have been pushing to cut this funding for some time, arguing that U.S. aid should not be sent to an institution known to conduct attacks against Israel on Iran’s behalf.

While the original bill had bipartisan support in both chambers, House Democrats recently attached an amendment to their version of the legislation that nixed the funding cut. Other GOP amendments that would have strengthened the legislation and pushed the LAF to isolate Hezbollah from its forces were also struck down by the Democrat-led House.

The House last week passed a watered-down version of the bill that leaves the LAF funding fully intact. The wrangling over the legislation came just days before Hezbollah launched a foiled attack on Israel from southern Lebanon, where the LAF and international forces have been tasked with stopping such terror strikes. Republican congressional sources who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon accused House Democrats of standing in the way of a major reform effort that could have forced the LAF to eradicate Hezbollah from its ranks or face a cutoff in U.S. aid dollars.

U.S. funding to the LAF has been a flashpoint for some time. As Hezbollah increases its force presence on Israel’s northern border and stockpiles sophisticated Iranian-made arms, GOP leaders in Congress have pressured the Trump administration to take action. The State Department, like congressional Democrats, has championed the aid, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo telling the Free Beacon earlier this year that funding to the LAF remains a priority. Republicans, however, view the aid as a tool to force Lebanon into ridding itself of Hezbollah’s influence.

FBI Escalates Investigation Into Ukrainian Oligarch Tied to Florida Democrat
[Free Beacon] The FBI on Tuesday raided two business entities owned by a Ukrainian oligarch who is closely tied to the husband of freshman Democratic congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.

The federal investigation into financial crimes by Ukrainian billionaire Igor Kolomoisky, whose businesses have paid Mucarsel-Powell's husband hundreds of thousands of dollars for legal work in recent years, has been ongoing for at least a year. Kolomoisky in recent years has faced multiple criminal allegations, including embezzlement, bribery, and murder.

Mucarsel-Powell has faced questions on the income earned from her husband's work for Kolomoisky since her first run for Congress in 2018, when she defeated longtime Republican congressman Carlos Curbelo. Mucarsel-Powell has managed to sidestep the issue, but the ramped up probe into Kolomoisky's U.S. businesses could spell trouble as she fights to hold on to the hotly contested south Florida seat in November.

Though her campaign denied that her husband, Robert Powell, ever directly worked for or received payment from Kolomoisky, an investigation by the Miami Herald found that he worked for companies bankrolled by the Ukrainian businessman until a year before his wife decided to run for office. Powell said his decision to end his relationship with the companies had nothing to do with his wife's election.

Financial disclosures filed by Mucarsel-Powell show the work was lucrative—in Powell's final two years of work for Felman Trading Inc., a mining company owned by Kolomoisky, for example, he earned $695,000.

CDC warns against drinking hand sanitizer after poisoning deaths
[New York Post] Health officials are warning against drinking hand sanitizer — after four poisoning deaths were reported in the American southwest.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday issued an advisory against ingesting any type of sanitizer — and echoed FDA guidance to entirely avoid products that contain methanol, a wood alcohol substance that can be toxic when ingested or absorbed through the skin.

Over the course of May and June, the CDC reported 15 cases of methanol poisoning in Arizona and New Mexico when people swallowed alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
clustered on Indian Rez's IIRC?
Four of those patients died, while three were discharged with visual impairments, according to the CDC.

"Alcohol-based hand sanitizer products should never be ingested," the CDC wrote in the advisory. "In patients with compatible signs and symptoms or after having swallowed hand sanitizer, prompt evaluation for methanol poisoning is required."

The FDA has listed more than 100 dangerous hand sanitizers that contain methanol.

CDC Director Tells Reporter There's a "Possibility" Hospitals Are Over-Counting COVID-19 Deaths
[Red State] It’s been almost a week since since Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director, Dr. Robert Redfield spoke in front of the House COVID-19 hearing on July 31. His words were widely quoted and reported on, especially that answer he gave when asked "if he thinks there are hospitals inflating COVID-19 deaths counts due to financial incentives," as Just the News reported.

Readers may have caught some of the hubbub about the CDC director’s comments, and RedState made sure to cover it.

Now, Just the News has very quietly made a scoop on something else the director said, during a press conference call Tuesday, in a piece by reporter Nicholas Ballasy:

Just the News asked Redfield on Tuesday whether he was aware of some hospitals incorrectly reporting COVID-19 deaths and to describe the consequences a hospital or a physician would face for doing it.
"The way death certificates are completed, they’re completed by the physician of record," he said on a conference call. "And as a physician we make our best assessment as to what we believe the primary cause of death was. And then frequently we’ll note if there were some contributory factors, and then those death certificates become part of the public health record, and eventually they make their way to our national health statistics center in Hyattsville."

I encourage you to visit Just the News and read the whole thing.

If what the director said is the case when it comes to this troublesome virus, it seems to be a matter of a huge bureaucracy losing track of its many, moving parts. How anyone could manage such a behemoth, even without a pandemic ravaging America’s health care system, is a serious question that deserves better answers from our congressional and Senate representatives — sooner rather than later.

4Counts of deaths involving influenza include deaths with pneumonia or COVID-19 also listed as a cause of death.

A psychiatric journal made a big mistake about transgender surgery
[American Thinker] A year ago, a massive study of transgender surgeries in Sweden claimed that people with body dysphoria who had the surgery were psychologically more healthy than those who did not have surgery. The same journal that published that finding just retracted it.

Over the years, in large part because I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, I met several people who had taken hormones and had surgery to turn themselves into a rough and stereotypical version of someone who was the opposite of their biological sex. Consistently, they were the most unhappy people I had ever met.

That was a small and unscientific sample, but it was pretty clear to me that fulfilling their desire to present to the world as the opposite of their biological sex did nothing to make the people I met happy. In retrospect, I realize that I was looking at the type of people Walt Heyer talks about in a fascinating interview with Candace Owens.

Like the people I had met, Heyer also thought he would be happier if he could have surgery and hormones that would "transform" him into the opposite of his biological sex. The fact that he had male DNA did not stop him from thinking modern science could fundamentally change him.

The medical establishment didn't bother giving Heyer psychotherapy to see if his body dysphoria was a sign of a deeper issue. Instead, his doctors put Heyer on estrogen and scheduled surgery. Once on the estrogen, Heyer felt happier. What he didn't know is that estrogen is something of a mood-tranquilizer or suppressor. If women didn't have estrogen, they'd probably kill their babies (and I do not mean that figuratively; I mean it literally).

'Key' Daesh Member Arrested in Kunar Raid
[ToloNews] A "key" ISIS member was arrested by Afghan commandos in Kunar on Tuesday night, the commandos said in a statement.

The operation was launched in Babur village of Sukai district and captured Khan Sayed, a "key" ISIS member, the statement said.

According to the statement, Khan Sayed was responsible for "transferring imported muscle with families into provinces to launch terrorist attacks."

Four days ago, the Afghan intelligence agency---the National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS)—reported that it had killed Assadullah Orakzai, the head of intelligence for the Khorasan branch of ISIS.

The NDS told TOLOnews that the ISIS commander was killed during an operation near Jalalabad city, the center of Nangarhar

province.

A statement was released by the NDS late Saturday officially confirming the death of the ISIS leader.

According to the NDS, Orakzai was involved in plotting deadly attacks on a number of military and civilian targets in Afghanistan.

The NDS in the statement assured Afghanistan’s partners that it will uproot Lions of Islam anywhere.

On April 4, the NDS announced the arrest of Abdullah Orakzai, who is known as Aslam Farooqi, the leader of the Khorasan branch of ISIS and 19 other ISIS members, including Qari Zahid and Saifullah known as Abu Talaha, during an operation by NDS special units.

Bodies of two Kurdish refugees who died en route to Europe found in Greece, Turkey
[Rudaw] The bodies of two Kurdish refugees who died trying to reach Europa

...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
on Tuesday, the director of a refugee rights organization has told Rudaw.

The dead have been identified as Saywan Salih, a 30-year-old from Sardasht in Iranian Kurdistan, and Shkar Mohammed, a 31-year-old from Qaladze, a town in the Sulaimani province of the Kurdistan Region.

"After their families informed our office of their whereabouts, we discovered them after two days of search by our representatives in Greece and Turkey," Ari Jalal, head of The Summit Foundation for Refugee and Displaced Affairs (Lutka) said on Wednesday. "They have died in two separate incidents."

Salih's body was discovered on the Ottoman Turkish shores of Turkey's Aegean sea, Jalal said; "according to medical reports, he died of a stroke."

Mohammed's body was "discovered in a dense forest near the Greek port city of Thessaloniki," where he died "due to breathing problems," a medical report said.

Afghanistan
2 More Kidnapped Indian Engineers Freed in Afghanistan
[ToloNews] India said on Tuesday two more of the seven Indian engineers kidnapped in northern Baghlan province in May 2018 had been freed and had returned to the country, the Hindustan Times reported.

With this, so far six of the kidnapped Indian engineers have been freed.

India’s external affairs ministry said in a brief statement on Tuesday that the two Indian nationals were "released from captivity in Afghanistan" on July 31 and "returned to India today."

The statement confirmed the two men were part of the group of seven Indians kidnapped more than two years ago, but didn’t give details of the circumstances of their release.

"Six Indian nationals have now been released so far from captivity," the statement said.

"We thank the government of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan for their constant and unwavering support in securing the release of the Indians," the statement added.

The seven men were working on power projects run by the Afghan government when they were kidnapped in northern Baghlan province.

One of them was freed in March 2019 while three more were released last October, according to the Hindustan Times report.

The Afghans get moody like that. Mostly we hear about it when they suddenly kill one or some of ours, but they do the same to each other.

The policeman, named Qudratullah, who is a resident of Pashtoon Kot district "shot and killed three of his colleagues in Almar district while he was on duty," said Abdul Karim Youresh, provincial police front man.

"Qyudratullah escaped after he shot his colleagues and has been arrested after three months in Ghor province," Youresh said.

"His case has been sent to court," he added.

Terror Networks
Hezbollah stockpiled chemical behind Beirut blast in London and Germany
[Jpost] Hezbollah kept three metric tons of ammonium nitrate, the explosive thought to be behind the mega blast in Beirut this week, in a storehouse in London, until MI5 and the London Metropolitan Police found it in 2015.

The Lebanese terrorist group also stored hundreds of kilograms of ammonium nitrate in southern Germany, which were uncovered earlier this year.

The Beirut explosion took place at a warehouse that held 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate that had been confiscated from a ship.

The Iran-backed bandidos murderous Moslems kept the explosive in thousands of ice packs in four properties in northwest London, according to a report in The Telegraph last year. The ice pack deception tactic was used in Germany, as well.

A source was quoted in The Telegraph saying the ammonium nitrate was to be used for "proper organized terrorism" and could have caused "a lot of damage."

MI5 arrested a man in his 40s for allegedly planning terrorist attacks, but did not find evidence that the bandidos murderous Moslems were planning an attack in the UK.

A foreign government reportedly tipped off MI5 to the explosives stockpile. KAN reported that the Mossad gave the UK the information.

"MI5 worked independently and closely with international partners to disrupt the threat of malign intent from Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and its proxies in the UK," an intelligence source told The Telegraph.

The Prime Minister’s Office did not respond to a question as to whether Israel helped the UK nab the terrorists.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
Germany found the Hezbollah explosive stockpiles with help from the Mossad.

The operation and raid on mosques and residents tied to Hezbollah throughout Germany in April came in tandem with a ban on the terrorist group’s activities.

In 2019, the UK banned Hezbollah, making it a criminal offense to support or be a member of the group, carrying a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

Then-home secretary Savid Javid said the Lebanese terrorist group "is continuing in its attempts to destabilize the fragile situation in the Middle East — and we are no longer able to distinguish between their already-banned military wing and the political party. Because of this, I have taken the decision to proscribe the group in its entirety."

Last week, a cross-party group of UK parliamentarians expressed concern that the UK was not effectively enforcing the ban on Hezbollah.

The letter sent to UK Security Minister James Brokenshire came after he said, in a Parliamentary answer, that the government did not collect data on the number of people in the UK investigated or charged with supporting Hezbollah.

They called on intelligence agencies and the Home Office to collect and regularly review statistics on people who have displayed the Hezbollah flag or other symbols of support, and update the House of Commons on those numbers, in order to assess the effectiveness of the ban.

#1  It would be nice to know if the importation or purchase of that stuff was recorded some place.
If a bunch of guys looking Arab and speaking the local language with an Arabic or mideast accent show up to rent a Ryder truck, and you call the cops, do you get in trouble? Looking at NYC, 1993. And if you buy or run through customs three or four tons of the stuff, does nobody notice the Death to Israel tee shirt you're wearing?
IOW, can you actually accumulate and store the stuff with nobody knowing? Do you own the warehouse, or do you have an arrangement with the guy who does...?

12 People Killed in 'Roadside Blast' in Baghlan, 2 in Talib attack
[ToloNews] At least 12 people close to Mahbubullah Ghafari, a former member of the provincial council of Baghlan, were killed in a roadside mine blast in the province on Wednesday morning, Ghafari confirmed.

The incident happened in the Chashmaye Shir area, on the Baghlan -Samangan highway, while Ghafari and his convoy were on the way to Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, Ghafari said, adding that "a vehicle was hit by a roadside mine."

Ghafari's bodyguard and relatives were among the dead, according to officials.

So far no group including the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
grabbed credit for the attack.

Local security officials also said that the Taliban attacked security forces on the outskirts of Baghlan city, and two security force members were killed.

‘Ren & Stimpy Show’ revival with new episodes coming to Comedy Central
[NYPOST] "The Ren & Stimpy Show" is returning with all-new episodes — 25 years after ending its original run.

Comedy Central has ordered an updated version of the wildly anarchic, dark-humored and trippy adult animated series that aired on Nickelodeon and MTV from 1991-96 and followed the surreal shenanigans of temperamental/psychotic Chihuahua Ren and his goofy, dim-bulb cat pal Stimpy. (Their proper names are Ren Hoeck and Stimpson J. Cat.) It also spawned the show’s unofficial theme song "Happy Happy Joy Joy."

Billy West, the voice of Stimpy — and of Ren (for three seasons) — is expected to return to the revival, along with several of the original writers. Scandal-plagued series creator Jon Kricfalusi, the subject of a new documentary hitting streaming services Aug. 14, will not be involved.

The original cartoon series aired for five seasons and developed a loyal cult audience, with celebrities including Frank Zappa, Soleil Moon Frye, Mark Hamill and Phil Hartman playing incidental characters.

Gardner is facing former homicide prosecutor Mary Pat Carl in Tuesday's Democratic primary.

Gardner has generated controversy during her first four years in office. She hired a private investigator to look into allegations against former Missouri governor Eric Greitens (R.), who was charged with felony invasion of privacy, instead of working with police. Gardner's investigator lied under oath and the prosecutor's conduct set off a separate probe into the handling of the case.

Bill Gates Jumps The Shark
First World problems.
[FoxNews] Bill Gates claims pandemic's 'misery' will 'happen regularly' if climate change is not stopped
Of course. And also if climate change were stopped, which humanity for the foreseeable future will lack the technology to do.
Microsoft co-founder says climate change death toll will match that of COVID-19 in 40 years.

Billionaire Bill Gates wants the United States to treat climate change with the "same sense of urgency" with which it has responded to COVID-19, arguing that the impacts of the former will be much worse without corrective action.

"If you want to understand the kind of damage that climate change will inflict, look at COVID-19 and spread the pain out over a much longer period of time," the Microsoft co-founder wrote on his blog Tuesday.

"The loss of life and economic misery caused by this pandemic are on par with what will happen regularly if we do not eliminate the world's carbon emissions."

Gates estimated that the death toll from climate change would match that of the pandemic by 2060, and exceed it fivefold by 2100. The economic impact of climate change over the next two decades, he added, could be "as bad as having a COVID-sized pandemic every ten years."

De Blasio: ‘What We’re Seeing Here’ with Isaias ‘Is the Result of Global Warming’
[BREITBART] During a presser on Tuesday, New York City Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him...
(D) stated that "What we’re seeing here" with Tropical Storm Isaias "and what we’ve been seeing now for years, is the result of global warming." De Blasio added that global warming is leading to "more and more pressure on coastal areas all around the world" and that "We’re seeing problems in cities all over the world because of global warming."

After urging New Yorkers to take precautions during the storm, de Blasio said, "Now, let’s talk about the bigger reality. What we’re seeing here, and what we’ve been seeing now for years, is the result of global warming. We’ve been seeing more and more pressure on coastal areas all around the world. Some of you may have been following the horrible flooding in Bangladesh right now. We have a big Bangladeshi community here in this city. We’re seeing problems in cities all over the world because of global warming. This is not an abstraction, especially for New Yorkers after Sandy. As I say, after Sandy, there were no more climate change deniers in New York City. We experienced it. We lived it. We’re not going to ignore it."

Fifth Column
YouTuber Jake Paul's Home Raided by FBI
I know most Rantburgers haven't heard of this clown and don't care about YouTube drama, but it's an illustration of the sort of people who make up actualFa and BurnLootMurder and their fellow travellers.

He's a 23 year old millionaire "influencer".

This may be a stunt on his part, but it's not sounding like it.

[E! Online] On Wednesday, Aug. 5, the agency executed a federal search warrant at the 23-year-old YouTube star's Calabasas, Calif. home. The bureau confirmed to E! News that the search warrant is part of an ongoing investigation related to "allegations of criminal acts surrounding the incident at Scottsdale Fashion Square in May 2020." A spokesperson for the FBI's Phoenix unit said a search warrant was also executed in Las Vegas.

Paul, who has amassed more than 20 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, is no stranger to controversy. In June, he was charged with criminal trespass and unlawful assembly for being at a protest that was declared unlawful. Police also alleged he illegally entered and remained inside an Arizona mall when it was closed.

"Following the riots and looting that occurred on the evening of May 30th 2020 at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall, the Scottsdale Police Department received hundreds of tips and videos identifying social media influencer, Jake Joseph Paul (23), as a participant in the riot," police said in a statement at the time. "Our investigation has revealed that Paul was present after the protest was declared an unlawful assembly and the rioters were ordered to leave the area by the police."

Gang member carries out three shootings after being freed without bail
[NYPOST] A Brooklyn gang member, released without bail in May on an attempted-murder charge, participated in at least three drive-by shootings after he was freed, federal prosecutors allege.Darrius Sutton, 23, was initially arrested in connection with a May 16 shooting in the courtyard of an East New York building that left a man seriously injured.

Despite the attempted-murder rap, Sutton was set free without bail the same day of his May 20 arrest. The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office said the lone witness in the case recanted.

"At the time of arraignment, the sole eyewitness had recanted so we did not have sufficient evidence to keep the defendant in jug," a front man for the DA said in a statement. "The investigation is continuing and we hope other witnesses come forward."

Less than two months after being sprung, the purported Bloods gang member allegedly joined others in three drive-by shootings this summer.

The gunplay took place between July 13 and 14 and were just a few of the six shootings in which Sutton participated over the past year, federal prosecutors allege.

Sutton was seen on surveillance-camera footage in one of the attacks, on April 20, when he snuck up behind a rival gang member and shot him three times from the back in broad daylight, prosecutors allege.

What was and still is the single largest group of US citizens located outside the USA between 1933 and today. Bingo....Dhahran ! US citizen livde in Dhahran for decades and continue to do so, but a lot less today than back in the 80's when it peaked. None the less, while there maybe more US citizens in London or Zurich over those decades, they were disassociated from each other. In Dhahran it was and still is always "1959". Everybody knows each other. Every US Aramcon is has a college degree even the K-12 teachers. They have large families and live there for years. Even 3rd generations (Google Aramco Brat). Now ask yourself do you still think the US is caught off guard over the years on developments (political/reserves/tech development/economics/millitary expenditures/social progress/Qatif/Najran whatever) in the KSA? The best place to hide a car is in a parking lot..... In the past 90 years The Eastern Province was very stable except for Iran and Khobar Towers via Qatif and the Abqaiq drones. Still those were managed well enough.....

But our people went over there for limited assignments, and Mr. Wife was exceedingly grateful have me as an excuse not to transfer there each time it was offered, and the one in Yemen after unification, too. That said, I had no idea there was such a large group of Americans over there in the oil biz. .Com was there for two decades or so, I believe, but until reading your above I assumed he was unusual. And goodness knows the expat wives I’ve encountered around the world, while as a group educated and cultured, tend to manifest interest more in shopping and socializing, and restaurants and vacations, than in the politics of their host nation, while their menfolk as a group assumed that all the wives were similarly focussed. So definitely 1959, even 30+ years later. I garnered a few startled looks during those pre-Rantburg years because my interests lie elsewhere. I do have two delightful expat brats of my own, so recognized that incomplete Americanism in then-Senator Obama when he hit the campaign trail, the first thing that made me uncomfortable about his candidacy.

Were you hanging out here during the Khobar massacre in 2004? Many of my ideas were about the general situation over there were formulated from this report/discussion and the days that followed.

#8  Just discussed the 2004 massacre with Mr. Wife, who says he used to stay at the InterContinental near the Khobar towers when working at the factory in Dhahran; some of our people — mostly Lebanese regional transfers, not American expats — were also living in the Khobar apartment buildings, so the attack felt very personal him.

Lt. Col (ret.) Sausage Alexander Vindman: They Aren't Paying Me $1 Million for My Memoir for Nothing
The sheer "Legend in his own mind"!
[AmGreatness] "To this day, despite everything that has happened, I continue to believe that only I, alone, held U.S. foreign policy together for three years."

On August 1, the Washington Post published an op-ed by the now-retired Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, of impeachment fame. The paper’s editors had to heavily revise the piece prior to publication. American Greatness has obtained the text of Vindman’s first draft.

Where are all the guns and ammo purchased under Obama?
These groups keep showing up in our archives. Now that President Trump has declared Antifa a terrorist organization, it’s time to track them all down and lock them up in their thousands. Guantanamo Bay is currently pretty empty, and it is on their beloved Cuba....
[AmericanThinker] During the last two years of the Obama administration, some unusual purchases were made. Large quantities of ammunition were purchased, as were firearms, mostly for somewhat obscure agencies or agencies with no real need for such weaponry. Estimates are that over 1 billion rounds of ammunition were ordered, which resulted in making ammunition scarce for the normal civilian market.

Also significant was Obama's troublesome statement made during his campaign, as follows

We cannot continue to rely only on our military ... we've got to have a civilian security force just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set.

Joe Biden Snaps at Black Reporter over Cognitive Test Question: ‘Are You a Junkie?’
[BREITBART] Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids....
bristled at a question about whether or not he has taken a cognitive test, asking an interviewer Tuesday morning whether he would pass a drug test and stumbling over his words several times in the course of one minute.

During an event with the National Association of Black Journalists, CBS News’ Errol Barnett asked if Biden has taken a test that would assess his mental fitness, and Biden snapped, "No, I haven’t taken a test! Why the hell would I take a test? C’mon, man!"

Biden then challenged Barnett, "That’s like saying you, before you got in this program, if you take a test where you’re taking cocaine or not, what do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?"

The presumptive presidential nominee went on to boast of his mental acuity and readiness to debate Trump — but stumbled with word order, word choice, and pronunciation multiple times in the same sentences.

"I’m so forward looking to have an opportunity to sit with the president — or stand with the president — in debates," he insisted (emphasis added).

"I am very willing to let the American people judge my physical, mental fil—my physical as well as my mental fil—fitness," he concluded.

In May, Biden caused controversy when he told Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne tha God that "you ain’t black" if voters go for Trump.

"If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black," Biden said.

"It don’t have nothing to do with Trump, it has to do with the fact — I want something for my community," the radio host shot back.

Biden claiming he has not taken a cognitive test is a reversal from a statement he made in June.

"I’ve been tested and I’m constantly tested," Biden responded when he was asked by a news hound about a mental assessment.

"All you’ve got to do is watch me, and I can hardly wait to compare my cognitive capability to the cognitive capability of the man I’m running against," he said.

Former White House Physician Dr. Ronny Jackson has said President Trump "aced" a cognitive assessment in 2018.

...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
for withdrawing from the agreement, saying that "it is hard to draw up a more disastrous policy than the one president Trump has executed." According to Keyak, "he tore up a deal with Iran that was working to prevent that country from obtaining nuclear weapons. He actually proved that in the short life of JCPOA it achieved its goals. As president, Joe Biden will hold Iran accountable for its destabilizing activities throughout the region," he said.

L.A. County Supervisors Vote to Put Defunding Police on November Ballot
[BREITBART] The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a proposal on Tuesday to amend the city’s charter — which will be presented to voters on November 3 via ballot — to remove $880 million from law enforcement and "reinvest" the money in "direct community investment" and "alternatives to incarceration."

Titled, "Reimagining L.A. County: Shifting Budget Priorities to Revitalize Under-resourced and Low-income Communities," the proposal includes language frequently used by Democrat politicians and the broader left. It alleges the existence of "systemic discrimination, exclusion, and inequity" targeting blacks and yielding "racial injustice" and "racial inequity."

Don Surber: Trump Is American Conservatism
David Azerrad is an assistant professor at Hillsdale College’s Van Andel Graduate School of Government in Washington, D.C. He did an amazing thing. He wrote an 1,100-word essay on What Is American Conservatism without mentioning President Donald John Trump once.

Other than that, it is a spot-on column -- for 2015.

Azerrad (without naming names) knocks the conservative establishment.

He wrote, "Conservatism is the seven cheers for capitalism and the deafening silence on demographic change, feminism, and corporate malfeasance. It’s the same tired cast of speakers blathering about limited government almost a century after the New Deal. It’s the platitudinous Reagan quotes and the worn-out Buckley anecdotes. It’s the mindless optimism and the childish exhortations—if something can’t go on forever, it won’t!"

All that was true.

President Trump has reached out to black people and Hispanic people -- which is what the professor means by "demographic change" -- without pandering. Jack Kennedy's tide which lifts all boats has done the same in the Trump presidency, which brought record low unemployment to all demographic groups.

His daughter raised $1 billion for the World Bank to lend companies begun by women worldwide.

And President Trump is riding on companies to quit using slave labor in Red China.

Azerrad wrote, "But conservatism is also the endless wars, the nation-building, and the outdated alliances. It’s the free trade fetish. It’s the foolish libertarianism that hates the government more than it loves America. It’s the unconscionable refusal to clamp down on immigration.

"Worst of all, conservatism is the cowardice and accommodation in the face of leftist hegemony. It’s the long list of enemies to the Right. It’s the court eunuchs and other members of the controlled opposition who offer an echo, but never a choice. It’s the faux grandstanding while living in fear of being called a racist."

1. President Trump is ending endless wars, eschewing nation-building, and challenging NATO.

2. President Trump has clamped down on immigration.

3. President Trump has faced every weapon the left has -- often alone -- and ignored taunts of racism and far worse, and prevailed. Bigly.

Where the hell has Azzerad been?

I read the piece and was tempted to leave a sarcastic but sincere comment, "President Trump has done all this."

The West is One Vast Social Engineering Experiment
[AmericanThinker] Many decades ago, I worked for a while in one of the old Victorian lunatic asylums in England. They were by then called ’long-stay mental hospitals’ and the patients were all highly institutionalized, conditioned by years of dull routine to an existence of passive compliance. Psychotropic medications helped, and if a patient displayed some reluctance to follow routine, the usual response was to instigate a short program of behavioral conditioning. It was all designed to be very humane. The days of violent confrontations were largely in the past, and the dreaded glass syringe containing paraldehyde was becoming only a memory, as were the straitjackets and the padded cells. But we still wore white coats and walked the wards as if monitoring for any signs of deviance, and the psychiatrist’s verdict was final.

What is happening today in the West increasingly reminds me of what I saw in that long-stay mental hospital many decades ago, but is less humane. Today, when a person displays signs of deviating from political correctness, the cultural overseers leap into action and denounce the behavior and the culprit, whose guilt is incontestable. If confession, contrition, and penance are not instantly forthcoming, the only sentence is to be declared a ’far-right bigot’, with the likely result that the mainstream news media will then pick up the story and try to ruin what is left of the pitiful target's life. Only the most courageous and resourceful will stand fast to their values and principles and defy the modern Maoist cultural revolutionaries of the radical progressive liberal-Left. The task of enforcement by the latter is, however, made considerably easier by the almost ubiquitous smartphone, which makes social conditioning extremely easy.

The smartphone functions as a virtual Skinner box. The original Skinner box was constructed of clear perspex inside which a hungry pigeon pecked at a lever. A reward of grain was delivered only for the desired behavior. Today the box is virtual, as humans tap the keys of their smartphones. Usage of social media from these smartphones appears to be highly addictive, and can turn even previously well-adjusted people into obsessive narcissists who crave ’likes’ and will leap onto any bandwagon in an attempt to increase their virtual popularity.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
From July 31, 2020: ‘In dramatic policy shift, Israel to hold Lebanon accountable for Hezbollah attack: Defense Minister Benny Gantz has instructed the IDF to bomb Lebanese infrastructure if Hezbollah harms Israeli soldiers or civilians.‘
Fascinating. The more so since immediately following the explosion Hezbollah announced that it was not caused by an Israeli missile... and also that they were not storing weapons there.
[IsraelHayom] Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Thursday instructed the IDF to bomb Lebanese infrastructure if Hezbollah harms Israeli soldiers or civilians.

A senior defense official told Israel Hayom that Gantz issued the order to prepare such a response during meetings on Thursday with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi and other members of the general staff.

Tensions have rapidly escalated between Israel and the terrorist organization since the death of Hezbollah operative Ali Kamel Mohsen Jawad, along with two other terrorists, during an airstrike on Damascus International Airport earlier this month.

Hezbollah has vowed revenge for Jawad's death, leading the IDF to move reinforcements to the northern border in preparation for an attack by the Shiite terror organization.

In Thursday's meetings, Kochavi presented the IDF's position on the matter, saying Israel must hold Hezbollah and the Lebanese government responsible for any future attack and its consequences.

According to the defense official, Israel didn't kill the Hezbollah terrorists who attempted to carry out an attack in the Har Dov area on Monday, and didn't release footage of the incident, in order to give the Shiite group a chance to save face and de-escalate the situation, but that Hezbollah was not taking the opportunity.

"If [Hezbollah] tries perpetrating another attack, we will see an unusual response from the IDF against [the organization] and the country of Lebanon," the official said.

Israel's unequivocal threat that Lebanon will bear responsibility for any Hezbollah attack is meant to foment pressure against the terrorist group at home. Following the Second Lebanon War in 2006 — in which Israel did not destroy government infrastructure — Israel has emphasized that it will also target Lebanon in any future conflict with Hezbollah. And while this threat has only generally applied to a broad conflict with Hezbollah, Thursday's order marked the first time Israel has officially declared it will harm Lebanon even in response to an isolated-tactical attack.

In recent years Israel has tried implementing this deterrence strategy in other sectors as well. Throughout the Syrian civil war, Syrian infrastructure was hit every time a terrorist attack emanated from Syrian territory. In Gaza, too, Israel targets Hamas when terrorist attacks are carried out by other groups.

Now, for the first time, Israel is applying this deterrence policy to Lebanon. This is a dramatic policy shift because in previous rounds of fighting between the IDF and Hezbollah, Israel has avoided bombing Lebanese infrastructure. Although the current Lebanese government is extremely weak and is effectively controlled by Hezbollah, the expectation in Israel is that the coronavirus pandemic and country's dire economic straits — combined with the fear that an Israeli offensive would be devastating — will provide the impetus for heavy pressure on Hezbollah to call off another attack.

IDF officials on Thursday assessed that Hezbollah is determined to carry out a successful attack, but one that incurs a minimal risk of an escalation.

"The coming days will be critical," a senior IDF official said. "The IDF is on high alert for an attack" and ready to execute a harsh response.

Tens of thousands of pedophiles operate in Israel every year, leading to about 100,000 victims annually, according to an Israeli pedophile monitoring association.
There are evil people everywhere, as we’ve seen with Mr. Epstein’s varied clientele and the tolerated Muslim grooming gangs in England. Tens of thousands out of a population of eight million is several tenths of a percent, if I got my places right — whether that is a normal range for this kind of vile abnormality I could not say, but I do hope this article in the Jerusalem Post means Israeli society has decided it will not tolerate such behaviour.
[Jpost] In July alone, there were 22 cases of pedophilia recorded in Israel and brought to the attention of the media

Tens of thousands of pedophiles operate in Israel every year, leading to about 100,000 victims annually, according to an Israeli pedophile monitoring association.

The Matzof Association, an organization that actively keeps track of reports on pedophiles in various media and centralizes the data monthly, states that in July alone, 22 cases of pedophilia were reported in Israel and brought to the attention of the media. The vast majority go unreported.

"In Israel, tens of thousands of pedophiles operate on a daily basis without any problem," said Eliran Malki, head of the Matzof Association.

"They are not deterred by the police and certainly not deterred by the contemptuous rulings that come from the hands of judges in the various courts," he added, citing an incident in which one particular pedophile was let off by the courts without punishment, despite evidence of thousands of pedophilic items found on his computer, as the court stated that it would "harm his career."

The court does not count the number of victims, and shows disproportionately favorable treatment of the perpetrators, according to Malki.

The association gathers reports from the media in order to form statistics, as no public sex offender registry in Israel currently exists.

"Matzof will continue to report and follow these trends month after month. Statistics tell the story of the victims, and they are living proof why we must fight for the establishment of a public pedophile database," he added.

In June, at least 22 instances of pedophile activity were reported in the media, including a 26-year-old who committed indecent acts on two brothers aged six and eight in a public park in Beersheba; a 40-year-old man who committed indecent acts on his girlfriend's 11-year-old daughter while they were still living together before he was sentenced to six years in prison; and a 53-year-old who committed indecent acts on a seven-year-old girl – the list goes on.

A number of pedophiles in Israel are Jewish immigrants who have sought refuge in the country under the law of return, according to a CBS report published in February.

The CBS reporter joined Jewish Community Watch (JCW) activists as they were looking for Jimmy Karow, who fled the US in 2000 after being accused of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in Oregon. Karow, who is wanted by Interpol, was able to remain in Israel, where he allegedly moved between different Jewish communities to avoid being exposed.

The most notable case in the public eye is that of Malka Leifer, who was the principal at the ultra-Orthodox Adass Israel School in Melbourne from 2003 to 2008. She fled to Israel after allegations came to light that she sexually abused pupils.

She has evaded deportation back to Australia ever since a formal request was received by Israel in 2014 by claiming mental illness. When the district court invalidated those claims, Leifer appealed to the Supreme Court.

Most recently in July, the Supreme Court heard an appeal by Leifer to try to overturn the lower court finding that she is mentally fit for extradition to Australia.

In May, after a close to six-year legal saga, Jerusalem District Court Judge Chana Miriam Lomp ruled that Leifer was mentally fit to stand trial on 74 counts of sexual abuse and rape of minors.

My cousin-in-law works as a Sgt. in the Crimes Against Children department. He has stated multiple times that these are the hardest to get prosecuted. The DAs don't want to bring it to court as they lose. A lot.

He just did a case where they had the guy nailed. Photo evidence and the daughter's testimony of him raping her for six years. The jury gave a "Not Guilty" verdict because they didn't want to send the guy away for so long. (25-life)

The public is the problem. They just don't care for the most part. BLM, oh yeah that is important to the sheep. Not kid's safety.

Meth lab found at San Francisco hotel room used as city COVID-19 shelter
[KTVU] Police arrested two adults accused of operating a low level meth lab at a the Socialist paradise of San Francisco

hotel designated as a safe shelter for people on quarantine, at risk for COVID-19, or without housing.

The call came in about a strong chemical odor coming from a hotel room and officers responded to the Civic Center Motor Inn about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police and residents had to wait for a hazmat team to determine the safety of the site.

"I was just like shocked," said one hotel guest named Samantha who says a police officer knocked on her hotel door. "He's like, there's a meth lab right above your room so we need you to evacuate cause it could explode at any time."

Police say there was evidence of a meth lab in an upper floor room.

"Officers conducted an investigation and discovered chemicals in the room known to make narcotics," said Officer Robert Rueca, a San Francisco Police Department front man, "We believe this was isolated only to one guest room and two adults were taken into custody."

Both adults were registered guests of the hotel.

The hotel is one of the many businesses that are contracting with San Francisco's Shelter in Place program, which pays to provide rooms and meals for people who need to be quarantined, are at risk for COVID-19, or have no home.

The meth lab arrests raise questions about who qualifies for rooms, as many people remain out on the streets or on waiting lists for shelter.

"I would like for the government to have a bit more of monitoring of the space," said a man who wanted to be identified only as Sami and works at a nearby business.

"I do see that a place like this can be abused to be used for those kind of activities," said Sami, "If you are housing people that are not there with a security deposit or anything that makes them liable, liability is key."

Libyan desert will swallow Egyptian soldiers, official warns
[EN.ALGHADEER.TV] Libya’s Deputy Parliament Speaker Jalal Saleh Shuwaidi has warned Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi against plans to send troops to assist militias loyal to putschist Gen. Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...
, saying that the Libyan desert would swallow Egypt if it proceeded.Noting that the Egyptian military has no power to enter another war, Shuwaidi told the Ottoman Turkish daily Yeni Safak that Egypt was already busy dealing with its own problems, including an economic and health care crisis.

"It is not possible for el-Sissi to go to war, which would have awful repercussions for himself," Shuwaidi said, adding that Libya had a vast desert that would swallow up any Egyptian soldiers trying to enter the country.

The deputy parliament speaker also praised The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, saying that the country had "breathed life" into the Government of National Accord (GNA) against Haftar’s attacks targeting the capital and endangering the lives of civilians.

Shuwaidi also touched upon the crisis in the Libyan parliament, saying that Aguila Saleh, who supports putschist Gen. Haftar, is only the parliament speaker on paper and some countries have been trying to legitimize his position.

He kindly asked the Ottoman Turkish government and Parliament to directly communicate with the Libyan parliament in Tripoli and invite pro-GNA parliament speaker Hamouda Sayala to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

"I want Turkey, the major ally of Libya, to be the first country to invite our parliament to their parliament," Shuwaidi said.

Turkey backs the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
-recognized GNA in western Libya, while the illegitimate forces of Haftar are supported by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

Turkey has helped the Tripoli administration by forcing Haftar’s militias to abandon an offensive on Tripoli.

Day 3: Lebanon in ‘state of emergency’ as Beirut blast death toll climbs to 135
Day 2 articles can be seen here and here.
[ARABNEWS] Lebanese rescue teams pulled out bodies and hunted for missing in the wreckage of buildings on Wednesday as investigations blamed negligence for a massive warehouse explosion that sent a devastating blast wave across Beirut, killing at least 135.

More than 5,000 people were maimed in Tuesday’s explosion at Beirut port, Health Minister Hamad Hassan said, and up to 250,000 were left without homes fit to live in after shockwaves smashed building facades, sucked furniture out into streets and shattered windows miles inland.

Hassan said tens of people remained missing. Prime Minister Hassan Diab declared three days of mourning from Thursday.

The corpse count was expected to rise from the blast, which officials blamed on a huge stockpile of highly kaboom stored for years in unsafe conditions at the port.

Beirut blast probe points to bungled storage of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate
[ARABNEWS] Initial investigations indicate years of inaction and negligence over the storage of highly kaboom in Beirut port caused the blast that killed over 100 people on Tuesday, an official source familiar with the findings said.

The prime minister and presidency said on Tuesday that 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, used in fertilisers and bombs, had been stored for six years at the port without safety measures.

"It is negligence," the official source told Rooters, adding that the storage safety issue had been before several committees and judges and "nothing was done" to issue an order to remove or dispose of the highly combustible material.

The source said a fire had started at warehouse 9 of the port and spread to warehouse 12, where the ammonium nitrate was stored.

Tuesday's explosion was the most powerful ever suffered by Beirut, a city is still scarred by civil war three decades ago and reeling from a deep financial crisis rooted in decades of corruption and economic mismanagement.

Badri Daher, Director General of Lebanese Customs, told broadcaster LBCI on Wednesday that customs had sent six documents to the judiciary warning that the material posed a danger.

"We requested that it be re-exported but that did not happen. We leave it to the experts and those concerned to determine why," Daher said.

Another source close to a port employee said a team that inspected the ammonium nitrate six months ago warned that if it was not moved it would "blow up all of Beirut".
According to two documents seen by Rooters, Lebanese Customs had asked the judiciary in 2016 and 2017 to ask the "concerned maritime agency" to re-export or approve the sale of the ammonium nitrate, removed from the a cargo vessel, Rhosus, and deposited in warehouse 12, to ensure port safety. One of the documents cited similar requests in 2014 and 2015.

Did a Ship Abandoned Six Years Ago Cause the Beirut Explosion?
[SLATE] In 2013, the Rhosus, a Moldovan-flagged cargo ship, was transporting ammonium nitrate from Georgia to Mozambique when it experienced mechanical problems and entered the port of Beirut, according to a 2015 note written by lawyers for the ship’s creditors. After inspection from port authorities, the ship was prohibited from sailing. At this point, the ship’s owner, Igor Grechushkin, a Cyprus-based Russian national, abandoned the ship and its cargo. The Rhosus’ Russian captain and four Ukrainian crew members were left on board with no pay, no way to get to shore due to immigration restrictions, sitting on top of a highly explosive cargo. "The vessel quickly ran out of stores, bunker [fuel] and provisions," wrote the attorneys. In the meantime, "efforts to get in touch with the owners, charterers and cargo owners to obtain payment failed."

After almost a year, a judge granted the crewmembers permission to disembark and return home. The lawyers wrote, "owing to the risks associated with retaining the Ammonium Nitrate on board the vessel, the port authorities discharged the cargo onto the port’s warehouses. The vessel and cargo remain to date in port awaiting auctioning and/or proper disposal." Six years later, that cargo may have caused a catastrophe.

In the aftermath of the devastating explosion in Beirut on Tuesday, Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel.
’s official corruption and the dire state of the country’s institutions are rightly being blamed for the horrific and bizarre set of circumstances that appear to have caused the disaster. A lot is still unknown but the emerging narrative, according to official statements, is that welding work set off a stockpile of fireworks, which then caused the more than 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate stored at a nearby warehouse to explode. Based on the timeline, this is most likely the cargo taken off the Rhosus. Officials who left this combustible mix sitting in a major city for years will certainly face calls for accountability. But part of the blame lies in a place where regulations and accountability are even weaker than modern-day Lebanon: the sea. The general lawlessness around international shipping and, in particular, the practice of shipowners abandoning their vessels and crew, appears to be a major factor in the lead-up to this explosion.

How many structures may yet stand that are thoroughly compromised by the over pressure from the blast, not to mention pipes, pipelines, sewer/drainage, roads, runways. Where even to start to un-eff the catastrophe, and it's the Lebanese government in the bargain.

France, Gulf states among those aiding Beirut after blast
[AlAhram] France, Turkey and Gulf states are among countries offering help to Lebanon following an explosion at a warehouse in Beirut that killed at least 100 people and injured nearly 4,000.

Below are details of international aid pledges.

FRANCE
President Emmanuel Macron's office said France would send 55 security personnel to Lebanon and 6 tonnes of health equipment, while around 10 emergency doctors would also fly to Beirut.

"France is always on the side of Lebanon and the Lebanese people. It is ready to offer assistance depending on the needs expressed by Lebanese authorities," Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Twitter.

It is a long-standing member of the Hamas-supporting, Saudi-based umbrella organization Union of Good (Ittilaf al-Kheir in Arabic), listed by the US Treasury as a terror organization, and had an important role in Al Qaeda jihadi Ahmed Ressam's failed 'millennium plot' to bomb the Los Angeles airport in late 1999...

"We are providing assistance with one ambulance to transfer patients. We may provide help according to the needs of the hospital," he said.

KUWAIT
Kuwait has delivered medical aid and other essentials. The ministry of health said Kuwaiti aid arrived in Lebanon by military plane on Wednesday morning and the Kuwaiti Red Crescent said it would offer whatever help Lebanon needed, Kuwait television reported.

GULF
Qatar state news agency QNA said the country had dispatched a first military plane carrying medical aid on Wednesday. Three more planes were to follow later in the day containing two field hospitals of 500 beds each, equipped with respirators and other necessary medical supplies.

RUSSIA
Russia's emergencies ministries said it was sending five planes carrying medical equipment, a field hospital and medical personnel. It said all medical staff travelling to Beirut would be equipped with personal protective gear in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

NETHERLANDS
The Netherlands is sending a specialised search and rescue team to Lebanon consisting of 67 doctors, nurses, firemen and police officers to assist in the search for survivors trapped under rubble.

IRAN
President Hassan Rouhani said Iran was ready to send medical aid to Lebanon, help treat the injured and provide other necessary medical assistance.

"We hope that the circumstances of this incident will be determined as soon as possible and that peace will return to Beirut," state television quoted him as saying.

#2  Seems this might not be constitutional. The problem in NY seems to be more intenal than external, and this seems like deflection.

And how do truckers, bus drivers and couriers fit into this? Essential workers?

#4  So NJ, CT, PA, et al can set up checkpoints to make sure travelers from NY are similarly treated? If we are talking about 'hot spots', it's a rational act.

#8  Definitely sounds unconstitutional as all hell.

The interstate commerce law has been used to control all sorts of things it shouldn't.

This is what it was meant for.

Fifth Column
Shots fired at latest Portland riot
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Shots were fired early Wednesday morning as violent mostly peaceful protests continued to rock Portland, Oregon, with demonstrators breaking into the Portland Police Association’s offices and setting it on fire.

Police declared the event a riot and said they had to use "crowd control munition" to restore order — though they said no tear gas was used.

While they were dispersing that crowd, they said shots were fired nearby in what appeared to be two separate exchanges. One vehicle was struck, but officers said they didn’t find anyone hit, and no witnesses would speak to officers about what happened.
