-Lurid Crime Tales-
Brett Kavanaugh's Lawyer Beth Wilkinson Has Worked On Highly Controversial Cases Before
Judge Kavanaugh is not rolling over and playing dead. Wilkinson reportedly specializes in defimation lawsuits.
[Bustle] According to CNN, President Trump's latest Supreme Court nominee has hired an attorney to help him navigate his confirmation hearings following an allegation of sexual assault. Brett Kavanaugh's lawyer Beth Wilkinson is a notable hire ‐ and not just because she's married to former Meet The Press anchor David Gregory.

Kavanaugh, who Trump tapped to replace former Justice Anthony Kennedy, has been accused of sexually assaulting Dr. Christine Blasey Ford when the two were teenagers. Kavanaugh, who categorically denies the allegation, reportedly hired Wilkinson shortly after Ford went public with her claims.

A former Army captain and graduate of Princeton and the University of Virginia, Wilkinson had a lengthy career in government before working in the private sector. She's served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, counsel to the Deputy Attorney General, and Principal Deputy of the Terrorism and Violent Crime Section, according to her official biography.

Wilkinson has made a name for herself in numerous high-profile cases. As one of the prosecutors in the trial of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, Wilkinson successfully argued for McVeigh's execution, describing him as a "traitor [who] deserves to die." As her biography notes, she was also appointed Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida to aid in the prosecution of former Panamanian military leader Manuel Noriega. After leaving the public sector, Wilkinson became a founding partner of the Washington D.C. firm Wilkinson Walsh Eskovitz, where she is now.

#4  Why hire her? For many of the same reasons Cheryl Mills, Jake Sullivan, Phillipe Reines and Heather Samuelson used her to put a legal wall around Hillary regarding her emails:

They’ve hired her because she knows everyone in main Justice,” said Joseph diGenova, a former U.S. attorney-turned-right-leaning legal commentator. “She has very good personal relationships with all the political and career people in the Justice Department, so that’s very smart on their part.” Politico story. She is a well-connected establishment attorney.

#6  Mainly, because Gloria Allred has become associated with hit job cases where she tries to take down conservatives running for office--at least that's my perception.

Wilkerson seems to have a reputation for working both sides of the fence.

Lawyers tend to like to hire experts who have credentials of working for both defendants as well as plaintiffs. They think it makes their expert come across as honest and not just a hatchet man for one side. The same is often true with hiring lawyers.

Trump administration plans to deny green cards to immigrants receiving benefits
[Independent] The Trump administration has proposed a new rule denying visas and green cards to legal immigrants who are likely to claim government benefits such as food stamps or housing vouchers.

The move could force millions of low-income immigrants to choose between vital support and their hopes of US residency, advocacy groups have warned.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Saturday the planned change would allow officials to disqualify immigrants’ applications based on receipt of federal assistance such as food stamps, Section 8 housing vouchers or Medicare and Medicaid drug subsidies.

Such benefits would be considered "a heavily weighed negative factor" in granting green cards for permanent residency or in issuing visas for temporary stays.

Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 11/9' Film Falls Flat At The Box Office
Cue the picture of Nelson Muntz going 'Ha-Ha!"
We don’t seem to have that one, so I’ve given you another.

— trailing wife at 12:30 p.m. EDT
[Hollywood Reporter] - The news isn't good for a trio of high-profile fall festival films opening nationwide box office ‐ Michael Moore's new doc Fahrenheit 11/9, the edgy teen black comedy Assassination Nation and Dan Fogelman's Life Itself, according to early returns.
...
Moore's satirical, anti-Trump film marks the first release from Tom Ortenberg's new company, Briarcliff. (Ortenberg worked with Moore on Fahrenheit 9/11 while stationed at Lionsgate.) It earned just north of $1 million on Friday.

In 2004, Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 debuted to a record-breaking $23.9 million from 868 locations. Otherwise, his films, similar to other political or specialized docs, have launched first in select theaters before expanding their footprint in order to capitalize on word of mouth.
Translation - those other films of his sucked big hairy donkey balls.

#1  ...The nice folks at Box Office Mojo (www.boxofficemojo.com) have a handy list of all the money Jabba the Moore's films have made. Being the awesome guy I am, I'll save you all a trip.

He has directed ten movies.

His lifetime gross total as of today is $192,296,029.00. Sounds pretty impressive, no?

Well, it shouldn't. In the 29 years he's been inflicting his talent on us, three of those movies never got out of six figures. Six of them opened in fewer than 500 theaters. And quite frankly, if you transferred those lifetime earnings to the opening weekend of any given summer blockbuster, the producers and whoever greenlit it would be looking for work.

I don't know who's financing him, but it would be interesting to find out.

#7  The Variety review is unintentionally amusing:

How Michael Moore Lost His Audience

The fabled documentary muckraker keeps doing films with his trademark fusion of snark and liberal warning. Maybe it's time for him to mix it up.

“Fahrenheit 11/9,” his scathing riff on the administration of Donald J. Trump, will be lucky to gross one-tenth of what “Fahrenheit 9/11” did. That’s more than just a staggering comedown. It symbolizes a couple of things at once: how different the two eras are, but also how Michael Moore’s audience — there’s no other way to put it — has gradually drifted away. It symbolizes that Moore is no longer defining the dialogue. A Trump-era conservative would probably say, “It’s about time! Michael Moore has lied so much that it’s all finally caught up with him.” A Trump-era liberal would probably say, “I still agree with him, but I’ve seen enough Michael Moore movies. I know his message already.”

There are elements to be heeded in both those statements (even as a Moore believer, I’ve been troubled, on occasion, by his willingness to bend the truth to make a larger point). But the question of why Moore’s films are no longer connecting with the public in a major way has a meaning beyond the standard left/right dialectics. It’s about a problem that Moore may be able to solve, but if so, he’s going to have to rethink what he does. Not the content but the execution. Because as much as I remain a fan of Moore’s (I thought the cumulative effect of “Fahrenheit 11/9” was chilling), what he’s doing now is not, in the fullest sense, working. He needs to decide if he wants to rectify that.

Trump administration moves to restrict visas, citizenship for immigrants on welfare
[WashingtonExaminer] President Trump's administration unveiled a new regulation to limit green cards and visas for immigrants who have received a various forms of welfare, the Department of Homeland Security announced Saturday.

"This proposed rule will implement a law passed by Congress intended to promote immigrant self-sufficiency and protect finite resources by ensuring that they are not likely to become burdens on American taxpayers," DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said, per NBC.

The proposal is rooted in a federal law that restricts immigration for people "likely to become a public charge," according to U.S. Customs and Immigration Services; a "public charge" is someone "primarily dependent on the government for subsistence." A regulation promulgated in 1999 construed that law as applying only to cash benefits, NBC explained, but the new proposal would broaden the list of benefits.

"The [disqualifying] benefits generally represent the largest federal programs for low-income people by total expenditure that address basic living needs such as income, housing, food, and medical care," according to a DHS spokeswoman.

That has been a priority of Attorney General Jeff Sessions for years, particularly when he was the top Republican on the Budget Committee during President Barack Obama's tenure. Stephen Miller, a top communications aide when Sessions was in the Senate, is now a senior White House adviser.

"It is an explicit and unambiguous tenet in federal law that those granted entry into the U.S. must be able to support themselves financially," Sessions' team argued in 2013. In sum: Despite laws to the contrary, virtually no one is being turned away from the United States for relying on federal welfare."
Get a job. Self-support or go home

Parents of Boys Should Be Outraged at Democrats
[AmericanThinker] The circus that Democrats are putting on for all the world to witness is a display of partisanship that should disgust even the casual observer, regardless of party. Shockingly, as disgusting as their blatant disregard for the integrity of the Supreme Court confirmation process is, it's not even close to the clear and present danger that their immediate presumption of guilt for Judge Kavanaugh poses to our nation's boys and young men.

Parents of boys must understand the brave new world Democrats are attempting to usher in and the legitimate threats it poses to their sons' futures ‐ their reputations, college and career prospects, and general welfare.

Democrats' instantaneous presumption of guilt for Judge Kavanaugh is setting a new standard for sexual assault allegations wherein they should be accepted simply for having been made. Moreover, the allegations are to be believed, despite lacking any semblance of credible evidence, solely for having been made by a woman.
That's what my yesterday post of Sarah Hoyt was talking about - it's time, and long past time, to deal with the feminazi infection

#1  Posted by a friend of mine:
"Dear Sons, You have studied and worked hard for what you have accomplished. You are true professionals and I pray it will remain so. But you are going to be living in dangerous times and I am not talking about terrorism. The workplace poses the most danger to you and I must, I feel, advise you to be careful in your daily encounters with people, especially women. First, never be alone with a women in the work place. Always try to work around other people so they could be witnesses if you need them. Second, always be respectful to everyone, even if they don't deserve it. Use your acting and survival skills to get you through the day. Third, never trust anyone in the work place. They are co-workings, not organ donors. Trust begets betrayal and one who smiles and dips her head today, will hire a lawyer tomorrow and sue you. Protect and guard your reputation at all cost. Fourth, if off-color jokes are being exchanged in the work place, LEAVE THE ROOM. Even passive participation will be viewed by some scorned soul as active participation. Never add to a joke which contains political, sexual or religious content. Learn to just walk away. Fifth, keep your own counsel. Never, never, never express your opinion which is outside the scope of your employment or duties. It the work place and not a playground. Manage your thoughts and actions carefully and never emote until you get home. Sixth, even if your employer has a party, don't let your guard down. There are those who will seek out relaxed inhibitions and prey upon them and then use your responses and behavior against you in court. Seventh, NEVER touch a woman while at work, other than shaking her hand. Any sign of affection--no matter how slight--may be interpreted as an unwanted overture and one that creates a "hostile working" environment for her. It's a short distance from the work place to the courthouse. Eighth, be polite and civil, but NEVER inviting. Never go to lunch alone with a female co-worker. Others might read something into it that isn't there, or she might do the same. Protect yourself from unwarranted and unfounded interpretations of your behavior. Ninth, keep a daily, contemporaneous journal of all contacts you have with co-workers. It will be admissible evidence in court if, God forbid, you need it. And tenth, I am sorry I have to tell you this, but it's the times we live in or you will live in. Some people will use anything to get ahead and are more than willing to use your back as a stepping stone. You must protect yourself everyday. I wish I could leave you more, but as an attorney, I can only give you sound advice so you will never find yourself in a courtroom or before the Human Resources manager defending actions you are innocent of. I love you and will not be around to witness all your professional accomplishments. But if there's a legacy I can leave you, it is this. Be careful. Those who smile at you are displaying the same teeth they will bite you with. Love, Dad."

Palestinian Cleric: Israel Sends Rats to Eat Foundations of Al-Aqsa Mosque
[Breitbart IS] JERUSALEM ‐ A Palestinian cleric claimed Israel is excavating under the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem "like rats burrow underground" for "evil and destruction," Palestinian Media Watch reported.
According to Sheikh Raed Da’na from the Religious Source of Authority in Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa has no foundations because Israel is digging under it.

"Al-Aqsa is now empty of the rocks and that which supports it, due to the Israeli machine that is excavating under it as rats burrow under the ground only for evil and destruction," Da’na said in a TV program broadcast on official Palestinian Authority television.

Israel does not carry out any excavations underneath the Al-Aqsa mosque or the area of the Temple Mount on which it stands, in accordance with its agreement with the Waqf Islamic trust that administers the Muslim holy site.

Nevertheless, the Palestinian leadership continues to spread the libel that Israel conspires to destroy the mosque.

Ben & Jerry's Founders Creating Democrat-Inspired Ice Cream Flavors to 'Take Back Congress'
[FoxNews] The duo behind Ben & Jerry's ice cream is hoping to "take back Congress" by creating Democrat-inspired flavors.

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield are teaming up with social justice organization MoveOn to create a contest to support seven progressive candidates ahead of the midterm elections.

In a press release posted to MoveOn's website, the pair said, "We need a Democratic majority to check President Trump's unrestrained power."

The contest will consist of coming up with flavors and flavor names inspired by Democratic House challengers Jess King, Lauren Underwood, Aftab Pureval, J.D Scholten, Ammar Campa Najjar, Stephany Rose Spaulding and James Thompson.

It was also noted in the press release that the contest was not associated with Cohen and Greenfield's company, just them as individuals.

Yo, internet! We need ur help to come up with 7 amazing flavors for 7 amazing up & coming progressives who could be headed to Congress in Nov. To sweeten the deal, Jerry & I will personally make a small batch of each of the winning flavors @MoveOn https://t.co/Gvn876rtTA

‐ Ben Cohen (@YoBenCohen) September 21, 2018

"We also need to send progressive champions to Congress who will fix our health care system with Medicare for All, protect clean air and water, and get big money out of politics," they also said.

A consultant working with Cohen and Greenfield said that the men chose the candidates by focusing on "long shots, up-and-comers and candidates who might not be given a chance by institutional actors."

The seven flavors will not be for sale. Instead, limited batches of each candidate's flavor will be created, then raffled off to supporters, Politico reported. MoveOn will also reportedly contribute fundraising pitches for each of the candidates.

In 2016, Cohen created "Bernie's Yearning" in honor of the then-presidential candidate from his home state of Vermont, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I). The flavor was limited to only 40 pints, and more than half were donated to Sanders' campaign that year.

I can think of a few democrat themed flavors, Starting with "ca-ca", "Extract of bulls***", etc..

London Crime Wave: Police Launch Latest Murder Probe as Khan Pledges ‘Public Health' Plan to Stop Violence
BLUF:
[Breitbart] The murder, which came just hours after the non-fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old male in Limehouse, east London, was the latest of more than 100 homicides to have taken place on the capital’s streets in 2018 ‐ a figure which would most likely have been even higher had it not been for recent advances in medicine increasing survival chances of trauma patients by almost 20 percent in just shy of a decade.

London has seen not only its murder rate surge but has also recorded huge rises in other ’high harm’ crimes including acid attacks, shootings, rape, and knife crime under its Labour mayor, who insists the worrying trend is down to "police cuts" mandated by the government.

Against the backdrop of his sinking poll numbers, as London residents grow increasingly concerned over the capital’s crime figures, Khan this week announced the city would take a "public health" approach to the violence, treating knife violence like a "disease".

Admitting that results from the approach were likely to take a long time to materialise, the mayor said: "The causes of violent crime are extremely complex, involving deep-seated societal problems like poverty, social alienation, mental ill-health and a lack of opportunity."
Emphasis added.

'Lingering stench': Trump promises more firings at Justice and FBI
[Guardian] Donald Trump issued an ominous warning about the justice department and the FBI on Friday night, promising more firings to rid a "lingering stench" after reports that deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein discussed secretly recording the president.

At a political rally in Missouri, Trump did not explicitly mention the Rosenstein story that was first reported by the New York Times and confirmed by other outlets. But the president lashed out against what he perceives as anti-Trump bias in the justice department and cited the firings he already has orchestrated.

The dismissals have unnerved many in federal law enforcement and raised fears about the future of the special counsel’s Russia investigation, which Rosenstein oversees.

"You’ve seen what happened in the FBI and the Department of Justice," Trump said. "The bad ones, they’re all gone. They’re all gone. But there is a lingering stench and we’re going to get rid of that, too."

One person present during Rosenstein’s remarks said he was being sarcastic. The Times also said Rosenstein raised the idea of using the 25th amendment to remove Trump as unfit for office. Rosenstein said the story is "inaccurate and factually incorrect".

It was the latest storm to buffet the White House in another brutal week.

California Now Allows Children To "Encourage" Parents To Commit Suicide
[Victory Girls] In 2015, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law the End of Life Option Act, authorizing physician-assisted suicide. Supporters dismissed concerns about people pressuring the ill person into suicide. That was a felony, they assured us. Fast forward to September 2018 and now pushing Mom to kill herself because her medical bills are wiping out your inheritance is perfectly legal.

Yes, really.

Existing law makes a person who deliberately aids, advises, or encourages another to commit suicide guilty of a felony.

This bill would prohibit a person whose actions are compliant with the End of Life Option Act from being prosecuted for deliberately aiding, advising, or encouraging suicide.

Everyone has only the purest motives when encouraging suicide
But but but ... some may object, this is only for terminally ill people! People who will die in six months!

Ah, but the devil is in the details right? The End of Life Option Act defines "terminally ill" thusly:

q) "Terminal disease" means an incurable and irreversible disease that has been medically confirmed and will, within reasonable medical judgment, result in death within six months.

You could drive a truck through that loophole. What if a diabetic stopped taking insulin? What about high blood pressure? Both are "incurable and irreversible" and would lead to death in short order if the person stopped their treatment.

Now any family member of the terminally ill person can ::::cough:::cough::: persuade grandpa that he owes it to the family to shuffle off this mortal coil sooner rather than later so they can take over the family estate. All legal and stuff.

Yeah, that’s going to go well.

California marches to the Leftist’s Cult of Death ethos. Only certain people are worthy of life. Certainly not the unborn and, now, not the elderly.

The serious, rational adult knows life is difficult and a struggle. We are commanded not to covet another person’s life because we really don’t know what is going on with them, regardless of the public trappings. Western, Judeo-Christian principles command us to respect the inherent value of our fellow humans and, especially, our own family members. Encouraging suicide as "compassion" is a lie we tell ourselves because such encouragement is really about our comfort.

After assuring everyone that no one would be allowed to badger anyone into suicide this slips by with no media coverage.

I’m shocked SHOCKED, I tell you to see Leftist mission creep in here.

Prediction: Kavanaugh will not be confirmed before the midterms, or worse.
[American Thinker] Democrats are desperate and unhinged. Their outrageous behavior during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings and their apparent willingness to do anything to block his confirmation should make conservatives extremely nervous. Just when it seemed that their circus-like antics were going nowhere, Dianne Feinstein revealed she was sitting on a letter from a woman named Christine Blasey Ford, who was claiming she was sexually assaulted in high school by Kavanaugh at a party some 36 years before. The details were fuzzy ‐ she couldn't remember the time or place ‐ and she was insistent on remaining anonymous.

Kavanaugh denied the allegation: "Because this never happened, I had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself yesterday," he said. "I am willing to talk to the Senate Judiciary Committee in any way the Committee deems appropriate to refute this false allegation, from 36 years ago, and defend my integrity." He also declared he had "never done anything like what the accuser describes."

The Senate Judiciary Committee's vote, which was supposed to happen Thursday, September 13, was postponed to let Ford testify before the committee. After a back-and-forth between Senate Judiciary chairman Chuck Grassley and Ford's attorney, Debra S. Katz, it was made known that Ford would testify only if there were a full FBI investigation into the matter. The request was denied, as the FBI had already vetted Kavanaugh six times, and the matter was not under federal jurisdiction. Ford then stated she would consider testifying if she could speak after Kavanaugh; in other words, Kavanaugh was supposed to respond to his accuser's actions before they were even made.

This was also refused by the committee, as it goes against the proper due process outlined in our Constitution.

At the writing of this, the Kavanaugh vote is still being delayed. Late Friday night, Grassley gave Ford and her lawyer yet another deadline to agree to testify ‐ Saturday, September 22, by 2:30pm. Right at the deadline, it was reported that Ford had indeed agreed to testify. However, a closer look at the response from Katz suggested that the "acceptance" was merely an agreement to keep negotiating. Townhall's headline, published Saturday afternoon, said it best, "Debra Katz & Co.: We Accept A Request to Testify, Maybe, But Only If We Can First Discuss More Specifics."

At this point, two things are becoming painfully clear. First, Ford is never going to testify. Because the Democrats have finally gained traction in their effort to delay the Kavanaugh confirmation, they will stand by and gleefully watch Ford and Katz as they continue to make unrealistic demands of Kavanaugh and the committee and smile to themselves as publications like the Atlantic write headlines that state, "Kavanaugh Bears the Burden of Proof." Incredibly, despite the protection of our Constitution, the left believes that men accused of sexual assault by women are guilty until proven innocent.

When no agreement is ultimately reached and it's clear Ford won't testify, the Senate Judiciary Committee will finally hold its vote ‐ most likely sometime after October 1. At this point, the national media will cry foul and insist that the Republicans ‐ despite delaying the vote for several weeks and extending Ford's deadline to testify a half-dozen times ‐ are a bunch of insensitive misogynists who've silenced the voice of a woman who was the victim of a heinous sexual assault.

The second thing that has become clear is that Kavanagh will not be confirmed before the midterms, if at all. Why? Because the Democrats are desperate and unhinged and will stop at nothing to block his confirmation. Shortly after the committee finally votes to confirm Kavanaugh and send the matter to the Senate floor (or maybe shortly before), expect another allegation to surface ‐ perhaps a woman who's willing to come forward and corroborate Ford's 36-year-old claims against Kavanaugh. Or perhaps there will be another woman claiming she's been assaulted.

Granted, these claims will be vague and unsubstantiated (and will ultimately prove false), but they'll be enough to force the Republicans to delay the vote until after the midterms, giving enough time for a "proper" investigation to take place. By then, even if the Republicans keep the Senate, Kavanaugh will be so damaged that it may cause the GOP to reconsider his appointment.

The Democrats are desperate enough. And corrupt enough. And unlike Republicans, they have the guts to do whatever it takes to get what they want.

As many have suspected all along. Time is running out. A vote this close to the mid-term is unlikely. Dems will invoke the federal appellate judge Merrick Garland argument to forestall the vote. I suspect Tucker Carlson has it about right.

#3  this opinion piece was obsolete within hours after it was written

Debra Katz is no longer on Prof Ford's team.

Another Ford-named witness, the only female, denied, under penalty of perjury, that she had been at the party in question and furthermore said she hadn't even met Kavanaugh.

It has been discovered that the Washington Post had the names of the Ford-named witnesses, back on Sept 16 but pretended not to have them in their news article. This fed the 'we need an FBI investigation' meme.

At this point it seems it is the Republicans that benefit from postponing the vote a week or two to give more exposure to the Democrat's bad faith accusations and speechmaking.

#7  One link supporting lord garth’s statement is from the National Review dated last night:

Third Named Witness Rejects Kavanaugh’s Accuser’s Allegations

In written testimony sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee, a third named witness has rejected the allegations made by Judge Kavanaugh’s accuser. Having been asked by a Senate staffer to comment on the charges advanced against the nominee, a lawyer for Leland Ingham Keyser wrote:

Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford.

Under 18 U.S.C § 1001, letters to the Judiciary Committee are subject to criminal penalty if false.

Ms. Keyer, whom CNN confirms is “a lifelong friend of Ford’s,” is the third named witness to deny any knowledge of the allegations. The other two, Mark Judge and Patrick Smyth, issued written statements to that effect earlier in the week. Thus far, nobody has backed up the account advanced by Kavanaugh’s accuser, while Kavanaugh and three other named witnesses have rejected it outright.

Trap snaps closed. Jan’s story of the calendars is from the bloody New York Times itself, and linked by Drudge Report, so it will get wide circulation on both sides of the culture. link.

The calendar pages are one-month pages with each day in a small box. Unusual for a teenager, Judge Kavanaugh seemed to keep track of his days even during summer vacation. The pages show typical teenage activities from the era, including “beach week” after the end of the school year and nights at the theater to see “Grease II,” “Rocky III” and “Poltergeist” with friends.

Judge Kavanaugh was gone many weekends with his parents in St. Michaels, Md., and one weekend in Connecticut with his grandmother, according to the calendars. He listed an interview for Yale University, where he would eventually enroll, and the start of football camp in August, when he stayed in the dorms at Georgetown Prep. He also played summer league basketball.

His friend, Mr. Judge, is mentioned, but the others from that night are not. “Go to Judge’s,” he wrote in July 28. A few parties are listed and with them the names of several friends he apparently went with.

#18  When I was 17, I was not so organized that I was thinking about calendars.

Some of us did. My mother had four children in four years — on purpose, because my parents married late — and each of us kids had activities that needed chauffeuring, whether by the housekeeper or a parent. There were two big monthly calendars on the kitchen wall to keep track of child and parent schedules, each of us having our activities in a different marker colour. But we didn’t keep our calendars beyond current needs.

When the trailing daughters were in school in the 1990s, their American public school gave each child a planning calendar at the beginning of the year in which to track assignments and outside activities. In first grade the teacher inspected them to make sure they understood how to use the thing. But again, we didn’t keep the things — throwing them out at the end of the school year was part of our start-of-summer ritual.

AstraZeneca CEO warns of medicine shortages after Brexit: Sunday Times
LONDON (Reuters) - Britain could see widespread medicine shortages if there is no deal to prevent friction at the border with the European Union after Brexit, the AstraZeneca chief executive told the Sunday Times.

The company said in July it would stockpile drugs as a Brexit safety net, and CEO Pascal Soriot told the Sunday Times in an interview that the complexity of the supply chain in pharmaceuticals meant that delays would be likely.

"We have products that go back and forth between the UK and Europe at different stages of manufacturing," he was quoted as saying. "If drugs are stuck, you have a problem."

Separately, the Sunday Times reported that Jaguar Land Rover was considering following BMW’s lead and bringing forward its annual summer factory shutdown to coincide with Britain’s departure from the EU in case there is no deal, but added no decision had been taken.

Carolyn Glick: How Israel Defeated The PLO
[Jpost] "In the past 25 years, Israel’s economy has changed from a socialist command economy to a free-market economy and today Israel’s GDP per capita is higher than Japan’s."

The so-called "Oslo process," is really two processes. The first was the Oslo grinding of the peace processor. It began with secret negotiations between Israeli leftists with ties to then-foreign minister Shimon Peres in Oslo, Norway, in 1993. It led to Israel’s recognition of the Paleostine Liberation Organization and the establishment of the PLO-controlled Paleostinian Authority to run the Paleostinian autonomy in Judea, Samaria and Gazoo. It also led to a seven-year attempt by Israel to make peace with the PLO.

The grinding of the peace processor, was the brainchild of the Israeli Left. It was predicated on the notion that without the PLO there can be no peace. And without peace, based on territorial concessions, Israel has no hope of surviving, let alone prospering.

#1  What you write is correct but there is one thing that is rarely said by anyone.
Has Israel done anything to harm Palestinian Arabs?
The answer is yes. What did it do?
It accepted and supported the Oslo agreement.
When Judea and Samaria and Gaza were under full Israeli occupation, these areas were prosperous and their economies were growing rapidly. There was optimism in the air and prospects of joint projects and continued growth throughout Palestine.
OSlo put a stop to that growth. A kleptocratic regime with no understanding of or sympathy with the Arab inhabitants took over and began to wreck these areas. Arafat and his thugs represented mainly themselves and if anyone else, the "refugees" and their descendants in other countries, who resented this prosperity. The local Arabs were shocked to find that the Arafat goverment was much worse for them than the Israeli occupation had been, and not only that, even saying this would be a death sentence for the sayer and possibly his family.
Hamas won the election because it was the only option for Arabs other than the regime they had come to hate.
Those who dreamed up Oslo never once thought of its effects on the people who were those who suffered the most from it.
And they continue to suffer.

Seven Philippine soldiers injured by NPA bomb
[Manila Standard] New People’s Army militants set off a roadside bomb at a military convoy Tuesday, injuring seven army soldiers shortly after an clash in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

Military spokesman Ronald Villanueva said the New People's Army violated the provision of the IHL relating to the use of anti-personnel mines during hostilities. He said, "NPA terrorists have again violated International Humanitarian Law by using landmines that cause severe damage to a person and may decapitate his body.”

Troops were heading back to their barracks before a clash with NPA rebels in Buenavista town when the militants detonated a landmine on their path. Reports said the landmine exploded few minutes after troops and the NPAs from Alias Yolly from Guerrillas Front Committee 4A of Northern Central Mindanao Regional Command exchanged fire, injuring seven soldiers.

Villanueva said the encounter occurred after a tip-off from locals regarding the presence of NPAs in their area. The clash lasted for 30 minutes with around 15 rebels. After the encounter, troops found an NPA militant dead with his M4 rifle.

Child refugee arrivals on Greek islands soar, camp conditions dire: UN
[AlAhram] The number of refugee and migrant children arriving on Greek islands has soared, with more than 7,000 making the perilous voyage so far this year, a U.N. official said on Friday as he warned of dangerous and filthy conditions in overflowing camps.

U.N. children's agency UNICEF said children in the camps - many suffering severe psychological distress and at risk of violence - must be moved immediately to safer accommodation on the mainland.

Earlier this week aid agency Medecins Sans Frontieres warned that many teenagers in Moria camp on Lesbos island had attempted suicide or were harming themselves. Other children suffer from elective mutism, panic attacks and anxiety.

More than 850 children arrived on Greek islands each month on average between January and August, up 32 percent on the same period last year, UNICEF said. It gave no specific reason for the rise, but said most came from conflict affected areas.

Greek island
UNICEF representative Lucio Melandri, who visited Lesbos and Samos islands last week, predicted arrivals would rise in the coming months and warned services could collapse.

"Conditions ... are becoming more dire and dangerous," he said.

Moria, a collection of tents and shipping containers in a former military base, is holding 9,000 people, nearly three times its capacity, according to government data. Another centre on Samos, built for 650 people, now houses 4,000.

Some children have spent more than a year in the centres even though the maximum stay under Greek law is 25 days, UNICEF said.

Greece has been a gateway into the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
since 2015 for refugees fleeing turmoil in the Middle East and beyond.

UNICEF said there were about 20,500 refugees and migrants colonists on the Greek islands, mostly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Violence, domestic abuse, protests and unrest are daily occurrences, it said. Access to sanitation is poor with up to 70 people sharing one toilet, leading to sewage leaks.

"The majority of children and young people I met have dealt with the trauma of war and then been forced to flee their homes. Now they are living in miserable conditions, with no end in sight. Many are in severe emotional distress," said Melandri.

He said the Greek authorities could no longer cope with the numbers.

UNICEF urged other EU countries to increase offers to resettle refugees and speed up family reunifications.

Greece has said it will move 2,000 people from Lesbos to the mainland by the end of the month.

A local governor has threatened to shut Moria down next month unless authorities clean up what health inspectors describe as "uncontrollable amounts of waste".

OPEC and allies struggle to pump more oil as Iran supply falls
[AlAhram] OPEC and its allies reduced oil output in August as a drop in Iranian supply due to U.S. sanctions derailed their attempts to raise production to agreed levels, delegates said on Saturday as the energy producers prepared to hold talks in Algiers.

The development further raises pressure on the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to boost supply amid calls from U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
to lower oil prices.

On Friday, a source familiar with the discussions told Rooters OPEC and its allies led by Russia were considering the possibility of raising crude supplies by a further 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) as U.S. sanctions on OPEC's third-largest producer, Iran, bite into Tehran's exports.

"If an increase in production is proposed there will be plenty of market counter-argument that it reduces even further the available spare capacity," Olivier Jakob from consultancy Petromatrix said.

"Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
has made the mistake of trying to compensate for the loss of Iranian supplies with just-in-time replacement; but the oil market is looking for greater supply security than that. As a result, the strength of oil prices is now putting oil demand growth at risk," he added.

An OPEC and non-OPEC monitoring committee gathering in the Algerian capital this weekend found that oil producers' compliance with a supply-reduction agreement reached 129 percent in August, two committee delegates said.

This compares with a compliance level of 109 percent for July, indicating that the group went beyond its agreed cut.

Oman's oil minister Mohammed bin Hamad al-Rumhy told news hounds on Saturday that OPEC and non-OPEC producers overachieved on pledged output cuts by 600,000 bpd in August, putting the reduction at around 2.4 million bpd.

Seeking to reverse a downturn in oil prices that began in 2014, OPEC, Russia and other allies decided in late 2016 to reduce supply by some 1.8 million bpd.

In June this year, however, after months of cutting by more than their pact had called for amid involuntary reductions from Venezuela and other producers, they agreed to boost output by returning to 100 percent compliance.

That equates to an increase of about 1 million bpd, but the latest figures show they are some way from achieving that target.

Oil reached $80 a barrel this month, prompting Trump to demand again that OPEC bring down prices.

"We protect the countries of the Middle East, they would not be safe for very long without us, and yet they continue to push for higher and higher oil prices! We will remember. The OPEC monopoly must get prices down now!" he wrote on Twitter.

Higher gasoline prices for U.S. consumers could create a political headache for Trump before November mid-term congressional elections.

OPEC sources said any official action to raise output would require OPEC to hold what it calls an extraordinary meeting - a proposal that is not on the table yet.

But the joint OPEC and non-OPEC ministerial committee known as the JMMC, which meets on Sunday, can still recommend a further increase in output if needed, the sources said.

Book Review: Indianapolis
Indianapolis By Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic (Simon & Schuster 2018)

My wife and I usually do not read the same books. However, the father of her best friend since fourth grade survived the sinking of the Indianapolis. Her friend was also the Chairperson of several reunions. So she snapped up the book from the bookstore the first few days is was available. I waited patiently for her to finish. She loved it. So did I.

The story of the ship, from laying the keel, to chauffeuring President Roosevelt around, to the Kamikaze attack, are presented in brief, but in sufficient detail. The chapter on the sub attack and sinking was riveting. The full range of emotions of the men in the water is covered. Some were very brave until their end, while a few others were selfish. It's not a story about sharks, but I found the paragraph about the recovery of partially eaten sailors disturbing.

The rescue narrative is inspiring. A PBY pilot landed his plane in the water, against standing orders, to rescue men from the sharks. After 53 men climbed all over it, it never flew again. Lieutenant Commander Claytor heard the radio chatter and turned his D.E. toward the site, without orders, nearly burning up his engines. When he got close, he turned his searchlight skyward, (making his ship "the brightest target in the Pacific") so the men in the water would know help was near. When the PBY pilot saw the light, "he decided he had never seen a finer example of American courage." Captain McVey saw the light, but he did not know the man who turned it on was his wife's cousin.

Then there is the court-martial, a fine example of the ‘deep state', as you might expect. The reunions are covered and the decommissioning of the submarine USS Indianapolis, where the survivors broached the idea of exonerating Captain McVey. The last Captain of the submarine Indianapolis made it his mission to seek justice for the last Captain of the heavy cruiser, Indianapolis. Then a young man turns a history project into Congressional testimony, the wreckage is discovered, and Congress decides McVey had been treated unjustly – no other Captain had his judgement questioned when their ship was sunk.

An outstanding book. Don't miss it! Find it your bookstore!

#2  Excellent Bobby.

I just finished The Fleet at Flood Tide, Hornfischer, which deals primarily with the American pacific fleet and its actors, World War II, from Guam to A-Bomb. Obviously the Indianapolis was a key feature of the book.

Good to see the Indianapolis receive the attention it deserves, rather than a prop in a shark movie or the subject of one of Nicholas Cage's crappier films.

Hamas leaders host Egyptian delegation for Palestinian unity talks
To dream the impossible dream...
[IsraelTimes] Meeting comes week after Cairo summit between Fatah officials and Egypt intelligence service; sides also discuss lifting Gazoo blockade

A group of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, leaders met with an Egyptian security delegation in the Gazoo Strip to discuss Cairo’s efforts to advance Paleostinian reconciliation Saturday.

The sides discussed Egypt’s bid to end a long-simmering feud between the Hamas terror group, which controls Gazoo, and Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
’s Fatah party, which has dominance in the West Bank, according to a Hamas statement.

The parties also held a "deep conversation about ways to end the siege on the Gazoo Strip and alleviate the suffering of our people" in the coastal enclave, the Hamas statement added.

Egypt brokered a deal between Hamas and Fatah to bring the West Bank and Gazoo under one government in October 2017, raising Paleostinian hopes for the possibility of reconciliation. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
the rivals have failed to implement the agreement.

Hamas has controlled Gazoo since ousting the Fatah-dominated PA in 2007 from the territory.

Last week, the Egyptian General Intelligence Services and a Fatah delegation met in Cairo, where they held talks about reconciliation, according to Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmad.

On Thursday, UN envoy Nickolay Mladenov said the failure to implement for Hamas-Fatah unity agreement was a key factor behind the Strip’s worsening humanitarian situation.

Abbas has tried to clamp down on transfers of fuel and other supplies into Gazoo as a way of pressuring Hamas.

"Fatah and Hamas must engage in earnest with Egypt in order to bring back the legitimate government to Gazoo," Mladenov told a Security Council meeting.

H also warned that emergency fuel would soon run out, putting "health, water and sanitation facilities at immediate risk of shutting down."

Aside from mediating Hamas-Fatah reconciliation efforts, Cairo has also been central to brokering periods of calm amid undulating waves of violence with Israel along the Gazoo frontier.

The talks came as tensions again began to heat up along the border, with large protests near the security fence and the re-appearance of incendiary balloon and kite launches after a several week lull.

On Saturday evening, Israel said it fired at a cell in the northern Gazoo Strip launching incendiary balloons toward Israel. There were no further details.

Hamas officials have demanded that any long-term ceasefire include the lifting of restrictions on movement into and out of Gazoo.

Both Israel and Egypt enforce a number of restrictions on the movement of people and goods into and out of Gazoo. Israel says its blockade is necessary to keep Hamas and other terror groups in the strips from arming or building military infrastructure.

Last month, Egypt hosted a number of Paleostinian factions in Cairo including Hamas to discuss a possible ceasefire and Egyptian General Intelligence Services chief Abbas Kamel reportedly visited Shin Bet head Nadav Argaman in Israel to talk to him about the matter.

Following protests from senior Fatah and PA officials, however, Egypt reportedly paused its efforts to mediate a long-term ceasefire deal between the Israel and the terror group.

Fatah and PA officials have demanded that reconciliation efforts take precedence over a ceasefire and say that only the Paleostine Liberation Organization, and not Hamas, has the legitimacy to negotiate international treaties like a ceasefire

ISIS chief Baghdadi masters art of disguise, but one mistake may end his luck
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Despite the launch of a major offensive on the last pocket of the ISIS krazed killer group in eastern Syria, close to the Iraqi border, the leader of the terrorist group His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

Postal Service Contradicts Dem Candidate's Claim in Controversy Over Security Clearance Form
[Free Beacon] The law enforcement arm of the U.S. Postal Service says it has "no record" of anyone officially requesting Virginia Democrat Abigail Spanberger's official personnel file, despite the 2018 congressional candidate claiming a researcher working on behalf of her campaign submitted the request in December 2017.

Spanberger, an ex-CIA officer who is challenging incumbent Republican Rep. Dave Brat in Virginia's 7th District, and her allies have suggested that the improper release of her unredacted security clearance questionnaire from the USPS was part of a GOP-led effort to hurt her campaign, CNN reported Friday. Spanberger and her allies have also suggested that the United States Postal Inspection Service, where she worked prior to joining the CIA, mishandled her own campaign's request for the same information.

America Rising, a Republican research firm, obtained a copy of Spanberger's questionnaire from the USPS through a Freedom of Information Act request. The file included sensitive information, such as her social security number.

The Postal Service said that releasing Spanberger's file without her authorization was a mistake, calling it "human error."

Still, Spanberger's campaign and other Democrats insinuated that the release was politically motivated.

"There's no legal way they could have gotten this fully unredacted SF-86," Spanberger told the New York Times last month. "And the next question, what does it mean they are actually pushing it around? What do I have to hide? Absolutely nothing."

Two handed life sentences in Thai supermarket bombing
[Bangkok Post] Two men were handed life sentences for the double-bombing of a Big C Supercenter in Pattani province in May last year that wounded 56 people. The court on Thursday initially passed the death sentence on Suhaiming Sama-ae and Sama-ae Mama, and then commuted it to life because they confessed to the charges.

Suhaiming and Sama-ae were convicted of involvement in the two bombings at Big C Supercenter in Muang district on May 9, 2017. Fortunately there were no fatalities, but 56 people were hurt.

Maj Gen Jatuporn Klamprasut, commander of the Pattani task force, said the two men had given useful information to police during interrogation. This led investigators to issue more arrest warrants, raising the number of suspects wanted for the bombing to nine.

On May 9 last year, the first bomb went off about near the food center inside the Big C building. The second followed shortly after outside the building, after shoppers and staff had left the premises in panic.

The second bomb was in a bag left in a pickup truck parked near the main entrance. The pickup used for the bomb outside the hypermarket had been stolen in Yala province.

Fatah accuses Hamas of colluding with Israeli government
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Paleostinian Fatah faction has accused the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", leadership of colluding with the Israeli government and abandoning the "right of return" principle.

In a statement released on Friday, Fatah said that the Hamas movement is sending messages to the American administration and to the Israeli government, asserting its acceptance of a deal on the basis of a state in Gazoo under its control with a long term truce, at the expense of an independent Paleostinian state to be established within the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and the Right of Return of the Paleostinian People.

The movement pointed out that the Paleostinian president rejected the US-Israeli proposal on what was described as the "deal of the century" in the name of the Paleostinian people, but Hamas leaders are working to send signals of willingness to accept.

Fatah also pointed out that Hamas is carrying out its plan, "exploiting the public’s preoccupation with the battles of steadfastness on the ground in Jerusalem and Khan al-Ahmar, and in all the sites of confronting the settlement and the occupation."

Israeli TV channel 10 previously revealed that Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani tried to contact by telephone, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convince Israel of Doha's plan to conclude a truce agreement with the Paleostinian factions in Gazoo, led by Hamas, through written messages and confidential communications in order to communicate with Netanyahu and convince him.

The TV channel further revealed that Qatar’s foreign minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, sent a letter last May aimed at delivering a plan.

According to the Israeli channel, the Qatari proposal revealed that Hamas agreed to stop the violence in exchange for a plan to improve the infrastructure, electricity and sanitation in Gazoo, as well as the establishment of commercial infrastructure through a port or airport in Gazoo.

Libya urges ‘effective’ UN action to end Tripoli violence
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Libya’s internationally recognized government has called on the UN to take "concrete and effective" action to protect civilians and halt fighting near the capital that has killed more than 100 people since late August.

In a statement late Friday, the Government of National Accord (GNA) called on the UN mission to "present the Security Council with the reality of the bloody events in Libya so that it can... protect the lives and property of civilians".

Fighting slowed Saturday morning a day after festivities left 15 dead and dozens more maimed, according to health ministry spokeswoman Wedad Abu al-Niran.

The latest casualties brought the corpse count to more than 100 since festivities erupted on the capital’s southern outskirts on August 26, according to the GNA body that deals with the maimed.

Why Western media silent on Ahvaz terrorist attack
[PRESSTV] The mainstream Western media have been mostly silent about the deadly US-sponsored terrorist attack in the Iranian city of Ahvaz, according to US scholar and political analyst Kevin Barrett.

"Innocent people being killed by snuffies is front page news in the West; but, in the case of terrorism against Iran, suddenly, everything changes and the media tends to ignore and downplay it," Barrett told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.

Barrett sees the attack as another terrorist operation launched by the United States and its regional allies.

"There have been close to 20,000 people killed in these kinds of terrorist attacks by krazed killer groups in Iran over the years to almost the complete silence of the western media and that is because it is the western governments led by the United States and its Israeli master who are in fact organizing, funding, arming, equipping, and unleashing these snuffies against Iran and they have been ever since the Islamic Revolution of 1979," Barrett said.

Firing Rosenstein obstruction of justice, lawmaker says

Rosenstein can't be both a witness in the SC and in charge of Mueller's SC according to Federal law. He also signed the 4th FISA warrant application based on what info. It was made-up info which was known to Rosenstein.

It is probably best to go with what #1 news said. Turn over to the DOJ IG and let the recommendations come from him. RR will be recommended for prosecution or firing or he will resign. Trump can bypass the Dem criticisms of obstruction of justice or interference with Mueller's SC if RR were fired.

Roadside bombing kills 8 children in northern Afghanistan
[DAWN] At least eight children have been killed in a roadside bomb explosion in northern Afghanistan's Faryab province on Friday, an official said.

Karim Yuresh, spokesman for the provincial police chief, said six other kids were wounded in the blast that took place late on Friday afternoon in Shirin Tagab district.

Yuresh said that according to a hospital report, two of the wounded kids are in a critical condition.

All of the children are between five and 12 years of age and were playing when the bomb exploded, he added.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but Yuresh blamed Taliban militants who usually plant roadside bombs to target Afghan security forces in different parts of the province.

Deir Ezzor: Albukamal secured by Syrian army, gov’t accuses Coalition of evacuating ISIS

Strategic city of Albukamal secured for first time in several years (map)

[AlMasdar] (5:50 P.M.) – For the first time in several years, the strategic city of Albukamal has been fully secured from all terrorist forces around the Iraqi border.

Backed by heavy strikes from their American and French partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) scored a major advance in the Deir Ezzor Governorate this week, capturing the key town of Baghouz Al-Fouqani near the Iraqi border-crossing.

The Syrian Democratic Forces were able to overpower the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists in the area before fully securing the town.

With ISIS fully expelled, the Syrian Democratic Forces were able to secure the eastern countryside of Albukamal, which will prove important for the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces in the area.

The Syrian Arab Army has faced several attacks from the Islamic State terrorists that were previously present around the eastern countryside of Albukamal; however, with the SDF now at this axis, it should prove to be safer and more welcoming to displaced civilians looking to return home.

Syrian gov’t accuses US Coalition of evacuating ISIS from Deir ez-Zor
Given that the Syrian government has evacuated so many from ISIS, Al Nusra, and other jihadi groups all over the country, it seems a bit silly for them to point fingers elsewhere.
[AlMasdar] 2018-09-23 (12:00 A.M.) – The Syrian government has accused the US Coalition of evacuating Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists from the Deir ez-Zor Governorate recently.

According to the state-owned Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Damascus accused the US Coalition of evacuating several Islamic State terrorists via a recent “air landing operation” at the outskirts of Al-Marashida in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

This same allegation was made by the pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Friday evening; however, no photos or videos were released to corroborate these claims.

The Syrian government has repeatedly accused the US Coalition of aiding the Islamic State forces in southern and eastern Syria.

These accusations began in October 2016, when the US Coalition bombed the Syrian Arab Army troops at Mount Thardeh in Deir ez-Zor.

This deadly attack resulted in the full capture of Mount Thardeh by the Islamic State and the death of more than 100 Syrian Arab Army soldiers.

The US attack on Mount Thardeh is still the deadliest bombing against the Syrian Army in its existence.

like what they did to former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

He made the remarks in a military parade in Tehran on Saturday to mark the beginning of the week that commemorates Iran's eight-year resistance against Iraq’s 1980-88 invasion.

About 600 vessels took part in the Persian Gulf naval drill, a day after Iran held aerial exercises in the waterway, vowing that a "pounding reply" awaited the country's enemies.

Trump withdrew from a landmark multilateral nuclear deal in May and reimposed sanctions on the Islamic Theocratic Republic last month.

"Saddam did not achieve its objective during the imposed war despite being supported by all global and regional powers," Rouhani said.

However,

he added, Iran secured a military, moral and political victory.

"We won back our territory from the aggressor. The UN and the Security Council designated Saddam as the person who began the war and all the countries that had helped Saddam later expressed regret and confessed to their crimes," the Iranian president said.

"The same story will happen to Trump and America will suffer the same fate as Saddam."

Today, 38 years into Saddam's invasion and violation of the 1975 Algiers agreement, the US government is repeating the same story of Saddam, Rouhani pointed out.

He criticized US President Trump for failing to respect international laws and lambasted his decision to reneged on America’s commitments in a multilateral agreement like the 2015 Iran nuclear deal that has been endorsed the Security Council.

"Today, it not more a proxy war. The US has directly stood against the Iranians nation and began reneging on its pledge," Rouhani said.

Two injured after twin car bombs explode in Mogadishu
[PRESSTV] At least two people have sustained injuries in two boom-mobileings in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, an emergency worker and a police officer said.

No group has yet grabbed credit for planting the bombs, which detonated in two different cars near a main road in the city center.

However,

Think tank: Iraq blocks on-leave Turkish soldiers return to northern base
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi authorities have deprived Ottoman Turkish soldiers, deployed in northern Iraq to combat Kurdish militias, from visas to return to their bases as means to cut down the number of troops which Baghdad had repeatedly demanded to pull out.

Watheq al-Hashemi, director of al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, an Iraqi government-affiliated think tank, told Almaalomah website that the Iraqi government has unilaterally decided not to grant Ottoman Turkish soldiers on leave at their homeland visas to return to the Ottoman Turkish military base in Bashiqa region, north of Iraq.

According to Hashemi, the measure, adopted over the past months, has helped reduce the number of Ottoman Turkish troops significantly. "The government’s stance of not allowing Ottoman Turkish soldiers to return will end the Ottoman Turkish military presence in Bashiqa cunningly and without any diplomatic or military friction {with Ankara}".

According to Hashemi, the Bashiqa camp is "totally cordoned by Iraqi troops", adding that "The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
cannot carry out any plans without the knowledge of the joint Iraqi troops".

It is believed that Ankara maintains nearly 2000 soldiers in Bashiqa, north of Iraq’s Nineveh province, as a surety against the activities of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), the movement that engaged in war with Turkey for decades, and is branded by Ankara as a terrorist group. Abu Sayyaf releases three Indonesian captives
[AFP] Three Indonesian fishermen held by the Abu Sayyaf have walked free 18 months after they were abducted off the southern Philippines, the Philippine military said on Sunday. The men were kidnapped in January 2017 while on board a speedboat off the southernmost island group of Tawi-Tawi, which together with the nearby Sulu archipelago are preyed on by Abu Sayyaf militants.

The Indonesians were freed in the town of Indanan in Sulu on Saturday and “turned over” to authorities following “intensified military operations” against the rebel group, a regional army spokesman said without giving details. Asked if a ransom was paid, Lieutenant Colonel Gerry M. Besana said, “No, there was definitely no ransom given. (They) were pressured by our operations.”

The Abu Sayyaf is still holding 11 hostages, including a Dutch bird-watcher abducted in 2012 and a Vietnamese captive, according to Besana. The group has been known to behead hostages unless ransom payments are made.

Patti 'MeToo' Davis, Reagan's daughter, says she's sexual assault survivor, and CRS
[FOX] Patti Davis, the daughter of former President Ronald Reagan and former first lady Nancy Reagan, said she was sexually assaulted about 40 years ago as she mounted a defense of the woman who accused President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
Davis' lawyer sez 'prominent music executive' must testify first.
Davis, 65, wrote an op-ed to The Washington Post that she attended an appointment at a "prominent music executive’s office" that was "scheduled suspiciously late in the workday." She did not name the man.
Yes, suspiciously late indeed. So late in fact, some might have have referred to it as early.
She said she was hoping to jump-start her music career and brought a cassette with her material to the appointment. She said she did not remember what the two talked about but remembered what the man was wearing. She also recalled the man offering her cocaine.
'Jump start'... an unfortunate term of reference.
"When he pulled a vial of cocaine out of his desk drawer and started chopping up lines on a small mirror, I’m 90 percent sure I declined his offer to do some with him, not because I didn’t do drugs ‐ I definitely did in those years ‐ but because I was starting to feel uncomfortable. My memory of the discomfort is sharp and clear, but my memory of declining the coke is, as I said, about 90 percent," she wrote.
Ten percent memory loss due to coke? I doubt you'll get anything from the VA for that.
Davis described the alleged assault, including what the man’s breath smelled like.....

Iran summons European envoys over terrorist attacks in Ahvaz
[PRESSTV] Iranian authorities have summoned ambassadors of the Netherlands and Denmark as well as chargé d'affaires of the British embassy in Tehran after forces of Evil with alleged links to the European countries carried out attacks during a military parade in the southwestern city of Ahvaz on Saturday.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said that the department for European affairs of the ministry summoned the three diplomats separately at the evening time on Saturday to declare Tehran’s strong protest to the role their countries might have played to support elements who carried out the terror attacks in Ahvaz earlier in the day that led to the killing of some 25 people.

The al-Ahvaziya terror group, whose recruits are believed to be scattered in several European countries, including in the Netherlands and in Denmark, grabbed credit for the attack in Ahvaz.

The terror outfit, which is backed by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, has a record of carrying out sabotage acts in Iran’s Khuzestan province, which encompasses Ahvaz and some other Arab-dominated towns.

Qassemi said Iran expected the two European countries to extradite the "criminal perpetrators" of the terrorist act in Ahvaz.

"It was reiterated to the ambassadors of the Netherlands and Denmark that the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran had earlier warned about the residence of these individuals in these countries and has called for their arrest and prosecution," said Qassemi in a statement, adding that the ambassadors of the two countries declared that their governments were ready to share any information with regards to the forces of Evil and their records.

The official said that Iranian authorities had also passed their strong note of protest to the chargé d'affaires of the British embassy in Tehran about an interview aired by a Britannia-based TV channel after the attack in Ahvaz in which the front man of the al-Ahvaziya had condoned the terrorist act.

Qassemi said the British diplomat condemned the attack and said that he would accordingly relay Iran’s message of protest to the authorities in London.

Afghanistan
Troops Under Siege In Uruzgan Need Urgent Help: MPs
[ToloNews] Uruzgan MPs said on Saturday dozens of Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been surrounded by anti-government gangs in Khas Uruzgan district in the province and need immediate assistance.

The MPs said security forces have been under siege for two months and until now government has done nothing to help them. These MPs said the troops need food and equipment.

According to these politicians, routes from Khas Uruzgan district to the scenic provincial capital, Trinkot city, also face serious security threats.

"It is two months that an ANA base, also with police soldiers, have been surrounded and they don’t even have food to eat. They are in a very bad situation. Government is not reaching them, and a tragedy will happen there," Uruzgan MP Obaidullah Barekzai said.

Khas Uruzgan district is one of the most insecure districts in the province which borders Zabul and Ghazni provinces.

"They are under siege and are hungry and the situation is very bad there," Hanif Hanifi, a senator from Uruzgan said.

A number of security forces meanwhile said in phone calls to TOLOnews on Saturday that they have been under siege for weeks.

According to the soldiers, commandos and police force members are also trapped inside the base with them.

"We have called the army corps and army regiment and everyone else, but no one supports us," said Fazal, an ANA soldier.

"It is not good to tell this, but we do not even have bread. We have no flour or rice, we have nothing here," said Mumtaz, another soldier.

Some of the ANA soldiers told TOLOnews that they have not been able to get home to visit their families for over a year.

"There are no roads here and no cars. We cannot leave the base. If we go out, they (insurgents) shoot at us. The situation is very bad," Taher, an ANA soldier said.

Despite concerted efforts to get comment from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior the two ministries failed to respond to TOLOnews.

"Intelligence gaps cause lots of our soldiers to lose their lives or get surrounded," Muqadam Amin, a former military officer said.

This is not the first time that security forces in remote areas have complained about the lack of backup.

We are ready for war, but choose to walk path of peace: Pakistan Army
[DAWN] Moments after Times of India reported inflammatory statements by Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Saturday, the Pakistain Army spokesperson responded by saying: "We [Pakistain Army] are ready for war but choose to walk the path of peace in the interest of the people of Pakistain, the neighbours and the region".

These remarks were made by Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor while talking to Dunya TV.

According to TOI, the Indian army chief said India "needs to take stern action to avenge the barbarism that the Lions of Islam and Pakistain Army have been carrying out". "Yes, it's time to give it back to them in the same coin, not resorting to similar kind of barbarism. But I think the other side must also feel the same pain," the Indian army chief was quoted as saying.

Gen Rawat's comments came shortly after Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
took to Twitter earlier on Saturday to respond to India's cancellation of the meeting between the Pak and Indian foreign ministers on the sidelines of the United Nations

General Assembly (UNGA), calling New Delhi's reaction "arrogant and negative". "All my life I have come across small men occupying big offices who do not have the vision to see the larger picture," added PM Khan.

Responding to Gen Rawat's statements, Asif Ghafoor said Pakistain has a long-standing record of fighting terrorism, adding "we know the price [that is paid] for peace".

Keith Ellison Runs Away From Crowd of Domestic Abuse Survivors
[BIGLEAGUEPOLITICS] Investigative news hound and Big League Politics contributor Laura Loomer was in Minnesota on Friday night where she confronted Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), a candidate for State Attorney General, over police reports of domestic abuse by two women.

Loomer confronted Ellison after the State Attorney General debate along with a group of domestic abuse survivors.

The latest confrontation came only three weeks after Loomer crashed an Ellison campaign event, police report in hand, where Ellison’s goons tried to intimidate her into leaving. He eventually hung his head in shame and left his own event.

Ellison is also the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Friday night, he jumped into his Prius in a parking garage, refusing to answer for his actions to a crowd of protestors as they swarmed the vehicle holding signs and the police report.

Two women, Amy Alexander and Karen Monahan have accused Ellison of domestic abuse. He has denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!

#1  Two women, Amy Alexander and Karen Monahan have accused Ellison of domestic abuse. He has denied the allegations.

But they remember all the details and have proof - so it's totally unacceptable!

Rouhani vows 'crushing' response to slightest threat
[PRESSTV] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says the Islamic Theocratic Republic will give a "crushing" response to the slightest threat against the country.

The Iranian president made the remarks during separate phone calls with Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and governor of the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan on Saturday, following a terrorist attack on a military parade in the quiet provincial capital of Ahvaz.

"Those who are providing these snuffies with propaganda and intelligence support must be held accountable," Rouhani said.

He expressed his sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims of the terrorist attack and ordered Iranian officials to adopt immediate measures to treat the injured.

The Iranian chief executive further gave necessary orders to the Intelligence Ministry and all security and military bodies to immediately identify the snuffies and their ringleaders and also to decisively deal with all those who committed the crime.

Shortly after the terrorist attack, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also said Iran will respond "swiftly and decisively" in defense of its people.

"Terrorists recruited, trained, armed, and paid by a foreign regime have attacked Ahvaz. Children and journos [are] among casualties," Zarif tweeted on Saturday.

The army said a raid launched in the early hours of the morning in their neighbouhood before killing the suspected gunnies.

Locals have since dismissed the notion that the boys killed were gunnies and confirmed they were suspected because of their dressing.

There has been outrage after one of the young men was picture alive with his hands tied before another picture emerged showing he had allegedly been summarily executed on the spot.

The incident has since scared locals who have all gone indoors as fear has gripped the locality while soldiers are reportedly carrying out raids to track down suspected gunnies in the area.

Jihadist rebels attack important southwest Aleppo district
[AlMasdar] The jihadist rebels launched a powerful attack on southwest Aleppo this evening, targeting a number of neighborhoods under the control of the government.

According to a military source inside the scenic lovely provincial capital, the jihadist rebels in the Rashiddeen 4 area launched several ground-to-ground missiles at the al-Hamdaniyah District, causing several kabooms throughout the residential neighborhoods.

As a result of this attack, a dozen civilians were maimed and taken to a local field hospital for medical care.

The Syrian Arab Army has now responded with an attack of their own, targeting the Rashideen 4 area that is controlled by the jihadist rebels.

Tonight’s attack by the jihadist rebels on al-Hamdaniyah marks the first major confrontation in southwest Aleppo this month.

US won’t succeed in overthrowing Venezuelan government: Writer
[PRESSTV] The United States is following a policy of intervention and regime change in Venezuela but it will not succeed in overthrowing the government there, an American writer and academic says.

James Petras, a retired professor who has published on political issues with particular focus on Latin America, the Middle East and imperialism, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Saturday.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said Washington is preparing a "series of actions" in the coming days to increase pressure on the Venezuelan government.

"You’ll see in the coming days a series of actions that continue to increase the pressure level against the Venezuelan supremoship folks, who are working directly against the best interest of the Venezuelan people," Pompeo told Fox News on Friday.

"We’re determined to ensure that the Venezuelan people get their say," he added.

The top US diplomat did not give further details on the nature of the planned actions.

"Well, it’s been an old story. It’s nothing new. The US had been involved in a coup against Venezuela in 2002. It has encouraged other interventions on the part of the extreme right," Professor Petras said.

"It has been involved in imposing sanctions on Venezuela, similar policy that is taken against the government in Iran, the pressures that it is putting on Russia and China," he added.

"So I think the idea Pompeo doing something new is not in the cards. I think he’s actually following a policy of intervention and regime change, for many years," he noted.

"I think the latest we know is that the US met with the military in Venezuela and tried to urge them to seize power. And I think this is part of Washington’s strategy throughout the world. And I think Venezuela has up to now been effective in resisting the US," the analyst said.

"And I am dubious that Washington would be able to carry through on its policies of squeezing and overthrowing governments," he concluded.

ISIS falsely claims responsibility for Ahwaz attack, Iranian opposition says
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Ahwazi political group has refuted claims that ISIS carried out the deadly attack on a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahwaz on Saturday, killing at least 29 people, including 12 Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and injuring 60 others.

The front man of the "Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahwaz" Yaquob Hurr al-Tisteri said in an interview with Al Arabiya News Channel that "ISIS claims of the attack are not true".

He then said that the attack was executed by national resistance individuals without specifying whether his group had any specific knowledge on which group carried out the attack.

The front man told Al Arabiya that non-combatants were killed due to random shooting by the Iranian security forces and that sources on the ground said individuals "responded in retaliation".

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats Chumbaloni was staring into a hole that was just .45 inch in diameter and was less than three feet from his face ...
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ordered the security forces to use their powers to identify the perpetrators of the attack.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said his country would respond "quickly and decisively" to the attack, charging agents of a "foreign regime" with responsibility.

Zarif tweeted: "Terrorists attacked Ahwaz after a foreign regime recruited, armed and paid them."
Ynet adds:
Yaghub Hur Totsari, front man for one of the two groups that identify themselves as the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz, said the Ahvaz National Resistance, an umbrella organization of all armed movements, was behind the attack but did not specify which group.

Totsari identified one of the assailants by the initials A.M., without elaborating.

Military aircraft fires at Gaza cell launching arson balloons at Israel
[IsraelTimes] IDF says strike targeted suspects in north of Paleostinian enclave; Israeli firefighters extinguish six blazes

An Israeli aircraft fired at a cell in the northern Gazoo Strip launching incendiary balloons toward Israel, the Israeli military said on Saturday, revealing no further details.

The Paleostinian news agency Shehab, affiliated with the terror group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, which rules Gazoo, said the IDF strike occurred near the city of Jabalia.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The Israeli military further reported that a number of festivities took place in different areas along the security fence between Israel and the Gazoo Strip, and that Israeli troops fired tear gas to disperse crowds gathering near the structure. Israel’s Channel 10 reported minor incidents alongside the security fence near Jabalia and Khan Younis.

Over the course of Saturday, six fires were sparked as a result of arson balloons being launched across to communities near the Gazoo Strip, Channel 10 reported. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blazes, including one at the entrance to the town of Netivot.

This week has seen an uptick in the launching of incendiary balloons, after several weeks of what was described as a lull. This followed several months of multiple daily attacks that left thousands of acres in southern Israel scorched and sparked fears of children being injured by bombs placed on balloons or kites and launched over the border.
