Peru: Attempted Curfew Ends with Mob Looting, Urinating on Lima Superior Court
"Well, double dumbass on you!"
[Breitbart, via FR] Angry mobs stormed various government buildings in Lima, Peru, on Tuesday night, attempting to burn down the Superior Court of Justice of Lima and fighting police with bricks and sticks.

The violent protests followed a turbulent 24 hours in which communist President Pedro Castillo abruptly announced a "curfew" stripping citizens of their constitutional rights, then repealed the curfew when thousands disobeyed it. The curfew, Castillo claimed, was an attempt to subdue nationwide protests against skyrocketing gasoline and food prices, an increasingly common phenomenon in the world’s most vulnerable economies. Outraged political observers told local media that the curfew was baffling given that the government did not implement such measures even at the height of the terror spree by largely defunct Marxist gang Shining Path, and suggested Castillo had lost control of the country.

Castillo announced the curfew in a nationally televised address on Monday, minutes before midnight on Tuesday. He lifted the curfew at 5 p.m. Lima time on Tuesday after Public Defender of Peru Walter Gutiérrez filed a habeas corpus petition regarding the move, arguing it was unconstitutional. The mayor of Lima, Jorge Muñoz, similarly challenged the curfew through a habeas corpus petition.

"Peru today is capsizing socially, politically, and economically, and there seems to be no way out," Muñoz said. "A solution should immediately be sought to end this situation. You [Castillo] said you would hold early elections if you did not meet expectatations — what are you waiting for?"

Ending the curfew did not stop mobs of "vandals," as local outlets decribed them, attacking the headquarters of the Public Ministry, the National Jury of Elections, and the Superior Court of Justice of Lima, the top regional judiciary. The latter suffered some of the most significant damage. Radio Programas del Perú described protesters ripping cobblestones out of the street and throwing them at the facade of the Superior Court building and "using its door as a urinal." Some in the mob, it continued, found a path around police to the back of the building, where they "united to use sticks, lances, and rocks to break open the locks."
At the original article there are links to both twitter and youtube videos on the situation at this point.
The mob broke into the building and reportedly started looting it. Some reportedly attempted to start fires in the basement.

The Peruvian investigative journalism outlet Convoca described the mob looking for expensive technology, office furniture, and appliances like microwaves.

"A mob entered the building and stole computer equipment, refrigerators, microwaves, chairs, fire extinguishers, and other objects," Convoca narrated. "The delinquents started a fire inside the building that was controlled by security personnel."

The head of the judicial branch of Peru, Elvia Barrios, confirmed on Wednesday that the Superior Court of Justice of Lima was one of two judiciary facilities attacked on Tuesday night and that the mob attempted to burn down the former building.

"I’m told it was a mob of about 100 people who directly went to that place [the Lima court]," Barrios told reporters.

In addition to the court and other government buildings, at least one church, the Conception Church in Lima, suffered significant vandalism on Tuesday, and multiple shops were fully looted. The National Police of Peru reported 18 arrests on Wednesday, a small number given reports of hundreds engaging in mob attacks and thousands simply disregarding the curfew prior to its lifting. Even prior to the nighttime mob attacks, local outlets reported that thousands of people had simply chosen to ignore the curfew and attempt to go about their days normally, with minimal police pushback.

"Thousands of people disregarded the order, announced close to midnight on Monday, to protest the government," the Peruvian newspaper El Comercio reported. Many, the newspaper relayed, complained that the curfew had stopped public transportation, rendering it impossible for them to go to work.

"Collective taxi drivers did benefit from what happened, taking advantage of the desperation to raise prices and transporting people even in the trunks of their cars," El Comercio narrated.

The outbreak of civil unrest ended a short period of political victory for Castillo that began in mid-March, when an attempt to impeach him in Congress failed. It was the second such attempt since he took office in July.

Peru’s constitution allows Congress to impeach a president on extremely thin grounds, granting a provision for perceived "moral" infractions. As a result, Congress has made a tradition of attempting to impeach presidents when the opposition gains a majority. Castillo is the fifth president Peru has had in six years; Peru had three presidents in 2020.

Following his victory over impeachment, Castillo is once again facing calls to resign, as Lima Mayor Muñoz exemplified. Various political observers told La República, another Peruvian newspaper, that his response to widespread protests against high food and fuel prices indicated that he had no real understanding of how the state operates and should step aside.
This bit is important background:
"The president has already violated the Constitution [through the curfew], as the last link in a string of mistakes. His remaining [in power] will only guarantee instability, mismanagement and maintenance of the pipelines of corruption," political science professor Fernando Tuesta Soldevilla told the newspaper. "His resignation is necessary, accompanied by a national agreement to exit the crisis within the framework of the Constitution and the law."

Another Peruvian pundit, Rosa María Palacios, accused Castillo of having "an absolute disconnect with reality" for calling the curfew.

"Not even during the armed seizures by Shining Path did they manage such a restriction of fundamental rights," she noted.

China-Japan-Koreas
YouTube suspends channel of an Odessa-based Chinese programmer, citizen journalist (After reporting on Bucha)
Found at Free Republic courtesy of Zhang Fei

Interesting that Youtube is yet another group of people talking out of all four sides of their mouths on both their faces - pretending to be Pro-Ukranian in the English language while continuing censorship of dissident opinions on the subject on videos in Chinese.
[Radio Free Asia] YouTube has suspended the account of Odessa-based Chinese national Wang Jixian after he reported on atrocities committed as Russian troops withdrew from Bucha, RFA has learned.

Odessa-based programmer Wang has been uploading videos since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began last month, but hasn't published any new videos since one on March 30 in which he hits out at pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) critics as "human trash," and translates news reports of gang rape being committed by Russian troops in Bucha, including of a young girl.

Wang had been uploading to the site daily, with the same introduction every time: "It's Jixian. I'm in Odessa."

YouTube told Wang that his account had been suspended for posting "violent content" in his March 28 video, ignoring an appeal submitted by Wang.

"I find this inexplicable," Wang told RFA. "YouTube claims that my account was reported for violent content, which violates the rules, but where is the violence? I didn't include photos [of violence] in my video."

"This was a front-line war report ... In my appeal, I asked them to say which video or photos weren't allowed, but within five minutes of my submitting the appeal, YouTube sent its final decision, which was that my account has been suspended for a week," he said.

Wang said he didn't blame YouTube, but the "ulterior motives" of whoever reported him.

Wang's March 28 video included footage of Odessa with air-raid sirens going off, and the sounds of missiles exploding, but also footage of him cooking in h is kitchen, and compiling Ukrainian government and media dispatches about the war, including news that the Ukrainian army had intercepted a Russian missile over the city.

In the second half of the video, Wang turns his attention to the CCP-backed media in China, which is still strongly supportive of Russia, particularly the claim that Russia has the upper hand in the war, despite arms sales from Western countries.

He shows photographic evidence suggesting that large numbers of Russian tanks have been captured by the Ukrainian army, as well as Russian soldiers fighting from electric tricycles and motorbikes.

The video also included footage of Ukrainian soldiers taking Russian soldiers captive, with one handed one a coat with the words, "Welcome to Ukraine, you bastard!"

Wang also takes issue with praise by pro-CCP commentator Sima Nan's claim that Russian president Vladimir Putin is "kind-hearted," and had refrained from sabotaging the power and water supply to Ukrainian homes.

'COUNTERING LIES AND PANIC'
Wang said his suspension came after he was targeted by multiple messages warning him "don't provoke the Chinese government," and "don't be too aggressive with your comments."

He told RFA he is trying to stem the flow of "lies and panic" by spreading accurate information.

"I'm countering lies and panic by reporting from the front line," Wang told RFA. "Panic can be very contagious and spreads like a virus, like a plague."

"If an authoritarian power tries to intimidate you, you have to give back as good as you get ... I humiliated them mercilessly," Wang said. "The more you fear them, the happier they will be and the more they will do to you."

Wang has since shifted to Twitter, where his account quickly garnered tens of thousands of followers within a day of opening.

Wang has been subject to repeated vitriol on social media sites in China, however, where he is accused of spying for the U.S., and insulting China and the CCP.

But he thinks his videos will remind the world that not all Chinese nationals follow the official line on the war without question.

"I kept going with the YouTube channel so at the very least there would be a Chinese voice in the international community," Wang said. "I've been asked by ... journalists why all Chinese people support Russia, and I ask them in return why they only give a platform to one voice in such a huge country."

"[The party line] does not represent all voices in China; it's just that any dissenting voices are being filtered out," he said.

'WEAPONIZING PROPAGANDA'
Japan-based Chinese national Ding Dong said Wang's YouTube suspension wasn't the result of "normal reporting," suggesting a malicious reporting campaign by pro-CCP actors.

"Wang Jixian hit CCP propaganda and lies about the Russian war in Ukraine especially hard," Ding told RFA. "The suspension of his YouTube channel was likely the result of a large number of organized, [pro-CCP] supporters."

"I am really indignant that a big company like [that] will carry major channels for foreign propaganda [like Chinese state media outlets] for economic gain," he said.

Chinese blogger Wangguo Wahaha agreed.

"Wang Jixian made his opposition to Russia's violent invasion very clear in his videos, but because his stance didn't conform to the CCP official line, he was maliciously reported, which triggered the suspension mechanism," he said. "The CCP weaponizes propaganda every day ... and there is now a tendency for the CCP ... to extend its tentacles beyond the Great Firewall, to overseas social media platforms."

"We have seen a whole string of such instances ... we really need to put pressure on platforms like YouTube to re-examine their terms of service, which are so easily abused by the CCP," he said.

Earlier this month, Twitter briefly suspended an anonymous account translating online internet comment about the Russian invasion of Ukraine from inside the Great Firewall for readers outside China, in a bid to highlight online opinion about the war, which has been heavily influenced by ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda and a ban on criticism of Russia.

The crowd-sourced Great Translation Movement account @TGTM_Official on Twitter features online comments made on Chinese social media platforms rendered into English by volunteer translators.

The account started out in mid-February, amid growing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with volunteers selecting and tweeting various examples of Chinese online comment using the hashtag #TheGreatTranslationMovement in various languages.

The suspension, which was reversed on April 3, came after the account was criticized by the CCP-backed Global Times newspaper in March, which accused it of "smearing China with malicious words and deeds."

Europe
Farage: EU ‘Funding Putin's War Machine', as Bloc Admits Spending €35bn on Russian Gas Since Invasion
[Breitbart] Brexit leader Nigel Farage has accused the European Union of rank hypocrisy for "funding Putin’s war machine", as the bloc admitted to spending €35 billion on Russian gas since the invasion of Ukraine.

Once again taking up the mantle of criticising the globalist bloc, Nigel ’Mr Brexit’ Farage said that German and other EU member states are propping up the Russian economy with one hand while sanctioning the country not the other.

"Not only is the Russian ruble back to where it was before the invasion, but the Germans keep buying huge volumes of gas and oil. Germany and other EU states are funding Putin’s war machine," Mr Farage wrote on social media.

The statement came after the European Union’s Foreign Affairs and Security Policy representative, Josep Borrell told the European Parliament that since Putin launched the invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24th, some €35 billion (£29/$38 billion) has been sent to Russia from EU member states in exchange for natural gas.

At the same time, the EU has sent some one billion euros (£0.83/$1.09 billion) worth of weapons and other armaments to Ukraine, the foreign policy chief admitted.

"It might seem a lot, but €1 billion is what we pay [Vladimir] Putin every day for the energy he provides us," the Spanish politician said per Britain’s Daily Telegraph.

"Since the beginning of the war, we have given him €35 billion, compared to the €1 billion we have given Ukraine in arms and weapons."

The Eurocrat used the striking figures to bolster his call for more sanctions on Russia and for the bloc to send more weapons to Ukraine.

"We have to keep arming Ukraine. We need less rounds of applause and more assistance. We want to say less that Mr Zelensky is a hero and give more weapons. That is what the Ukrainians expect and that’s what we’re doing," Borrell said.

In contrast to the push for more weapons and more sanctions, there has been little appetite for negotiating for peace, with the exception of French President Emmanuel Macron, who has been conducting repeated bilateral conversations with Vladimir Putin.

Despite German Chancellor Olaf Scholz joining some of the calls with Macron, the role of mediator has largely fallen to France, which has a relatively robust domestic nuclear power industry, with Germany effectively sidelined due to its over-reliance on Russian gas, after decades of attempting to transition to a so-called green economy.

While Europe has been keen to sanction Russia and send or sell weapons to Ukraine, there has not been much political pressure placed on globalist financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank to cancel Ukrainian debt — which following the invasion is likely to struggle even servicing the $129 billion in external debt.

The EU has also so far refused to ban Russian gas outright, with economically critical countries such as Germany and Italy being heavily dependent on gas from Russian pipelines to keep their economies churning. Indeed, even the sanctions banning Russia from the international SWIFT payment system allowed for carveouts for European countries to continue purchasing gas from Putin’s regime.

The bloc has proposed a ban on Russian coal, however, this has yet to be approved, with all 27 member states needing to sign off on such a move. European countries purchase around €4bn ($4.4bn; £3.3bn) worth of coal from Russia every year...

Olde Tyme Religion
457 years after the Great Siege of Malta, Pope Francis surrenders to Islam
[American Thinker] Pope Francis, despite being the head of worldwide Catholicism, always seems to be apologizing for the faith. In Malta, that apology extended to hiding the cross from illegal Muslim immigrants. This act of Christian cowardice was more poignant than usual, given that Malta, in the mid-16th century, was the site of one of the Catholic world’s bravest and most successful stands against Islam’s push to take over Europe.

The Republic of Malta is a tiny island located southwest of both the toe of the Italian boot and the island of Sicily. Travel further west from Malta and you will find yourself heading to Tunisia, in North Africa. Alternatively, if you head east from Malta, after passing from the Mediterranean Sea into the Aegean Sea, you will find yourself at the Bosporus, and the country known as Turkey today, but that was once home to the powerful Ottoman Empire.

In the mid-15th century, the Ottoman Turks emerged from the east to conquer Constantinople, the last remnant of the great Roman empire. They converted the magnificent Church of the Hagia Sophia into the Grand Mosque of the Hagia Sophia, renamed the city Istanbul. From Istanbul, they continued their conquests.

The Ottoman Empire didn’t stop there. It gradually conquered most of the Balkans (and helped give rise to the story of Dracula, since Vlad the Impaler fought against the Turks), and acquired large swaths of the Middle East, including Egypt and other parts of North Africa, the Holy Land, Baghdad, Mesopotamia, parts of the Caucasus region (which eventually were incorporated into the Soviet Union), some of the former Venetian empire, and more. The Ottomans seemed unstoppable.

However, by the mid-16th century, Europeans began to fight back. One of the most famous battles between Catholic Europe and the Muslim Ottomans occurred at the Great Siege of Malta. The Knights Hospitaller, whom the Ottomans had driven from Rhodes, had their headquarters there and, when the Ottomans attacked, they refused to yield. Instead, they and the citizens of Malta withstood a devastating siege that lasted nearly four months.

#25  The nit:
The letter cited confusion over SpaceX’s No Action Alternative, given conflicting statements the company has made in public and in response to the Corps. Specifically, in its October analysis about alternatives, SpaceX eliminated the possibility of launching Starship out of Cape Canaveral, Florida — the company’s primary launch site for flying the Falcon 9, according to the Corps. But in February, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk mentioned during a public broadcast that the company would move to Cape Canaveral to launch Starship if SpaceX did not receive certain regulatory approval. The Corps noted that moving to Cape Canaveral seemingly works as a No Action Alternative. If SpaceX was serious about that possibility, that would require a much more rigorous analysis, according to the Corps.

As a result of this incomplete information and confusion, the Corps told SpaceX in the new letter that its permit application has been withdrawn. But while SpaceX’s permit is closed for now, it seems like it can easily be reopened again.

India-Pakistan
Power grid near Ladakh targeted by Chinese state hackers: Report
[OneIndia] The threat intelligence firm Recorded Future Inc. said in a report published on Wednesday that suspected state sponsored Chinese hackers targeted the power sector in India in recent months as part of an apparent cyber espionage campaign.

The report said that the hackers focused on seven load dispatch centres in northern India that are responsible for carrying out real time operations for grid control and electricity dispersal in areas located near the India-China border in Ladakh.

The prolonged targeting of Indian power grid assets by Chinese state-linked groups offers limited economic espionage or traditional intelligence gathering opportunities. We believe this is instead likely intended to enable information gathering surrounding critical infrastructure and/or pre-positioning for future activity, the report said.

The report also said that the hackers compromised an Indian national emergency response system and a subsidiary of a multinational logistics company.

TAG-38, the hacking group used a kind of malicious software called ShadowPad, which was previously associated with the People's Liberation Army of China.

Senior manager at Recorded Future, Jonathan Condra said that the method the attackers used to make the intrusions using compromised internet of things devices and cameras was usual. The devices used to launch intrusions based in Taiwan and South Korea, he also said.

[DW] Since its invasion of Ukraine, Russia is experiencing the largest exodus since the October Revolution of 1917. Many who are leaving are intellectuals and artists. Their future is uncertain.

He checked channels on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, and found one message in particular that made him freeze in fear: In the near future, martial law could be imposed in Russia, which would make it impossible to leave the country.

Europe
Italy: Migrant rescue boat allowed to dock after waiting days
[DW] A boat carrying over 100 people was forced to stay at sea for days looking for a port to dock at. They have now been allowed to land at a town in Sicily.

The German migrant rescue organization Sea-Eye said on Wednesday that one of their rescue boats had finally been given permission to dock at the Italian port of Augusta in Sicily after waiting for almost a week at sea.

Some 106 migrants colonists were on the Sea-Eye 4 boat, according to a tweet from the group.

"We are expected to reach Augusta on Wednesday afternoon," they wrote, adding that they hope this brings the rescued migrants colonists "a life of security, dignity and freedom."

RESCUE OPERATIONS
The Sea-Eye 4 picked up migrants colonists from a container ship that had previously rescued them as they tried to cross the Mediterranean Sea. A second pick-up included 75 people — including 22 children — who were found crossing in a rubber dinghy.

Some of those rescued have been stuck on the ship since last Wednesday.

Sea-Eye is one of several private rescue teams present in the maritime region to save those who run into trouble while making the journey.

The island country of Malta had previously blocked the Sea-Eye 4 from docking. The group said authorities had told them they were not responsible for providing a safe harbor.

MOST DANGEROUS MEDITERRANEAN CROSSING
The crossing is one of the more common routes for people fleeing poverty, the impacts of extreme weather and conflict. But it is also a very dangerous route. Some 90 people drowned at the weekend following a boat accident.

According to the UN, 417 people have gone missing trying to cross the central Mediterranean route so far this year, making it the most dangerous route across the sea.

The official UN figure for people who have gone missing trying to cross the central route since 2014 is over 19,000. The actual figure is likely much higher.

Germany arrests another Syrian accused of torturing captives with ISIS
[Rudaw] German Sherlocks on Wednesday arrested a Syrian man accused of war crimes for allegedly torturing captives while he was with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) group in Syria in 2014.

Federal prosecutors said the man, identified only as Raed E. in line with German privacy rules, was arrested in Berlin. He is suspected of membership in a foreign terrorist organization, crimes against humanity, war crimes and bodily harm.

The suspect joined ISIS in summer 2014 and participated in an attack that August on the Shueitat tribe in the Deir el-Zour region of eastern Syria, prosecutors said. Activists reported corpse counts ranging up to 700.

Raed E. is accused of abusing and torturing three captives after that attack. Prosecutors say that he had a man who was looking for a 13-year old brother kidnapped by ISIS arrested and then tortured him at various IS prisons.

The suspect allegedly also ordered the 13-year-old suspended from a ceiling with his hands tied behind his back. And he is accused of twice physically abusing a third captive during months in captivity.

Prosecutors said in a statement that, in addition to working in ISIS prisons, he handled transactions in which the freedom of Shueitat captives was bought and manned two checkpoints for the Death Eater group.

They didn’t say how or when he came to Germany.

Government Corruption
New Verdict in Capitol Riot Case Throws a Wrench Into Political Narrative
[RedState] A federal defense contractor who had been charged with four misdemeanors for walking into the Capitol on Jan. 6, fought the charges and was acquitted on all counts today by Judge Trevor McFadden. Matthew Martin was charged with: entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, violent mostly peaceful entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, as well as parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

But Martin didn’t commit any violence or break into the building. He argued that he believed that the Capitol Police had allowed him into the building, and he just walked in.

From Politico:

McFadden said that, based on video of the scene, that assertion was at least "plausible" and that prosecutors failed to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

"People were streaming by and the officers made no attempt to stop the people," said the judge [....]

"I do think the defendant reasonably believed the officers allowed him into the Capitol," the judge said.

McFadden said that the government did not show any evidence of Martin crossing police lines, and that Martin’s "conduct was about as minimal....as I can imagine."

This is a significant verdict. While some are charged with more serious offenses, many of the people charged for Jan. 6 offenses are in a similar position to Martin — they didn’t do much beyond walk into the building. Some have argued — as Martin did — that the police let them in.

McFadden has pointed out disparities in the way Jan. 6 defendants have been treated in the past. He said that he thinks there is a difference in the way that the prosecutors are handling the Jan. 6 cases versus cases in the past (that may have involved leftist protesters).

-Great Cultural Revolution
Citing Racial Discrimination, Black Leaders Target Roe v Wade
[ZERO] If successful, the attorneys and activists behind the case told The Epoch Times that it might ultimately overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 precedent-setting U.S. Supreme Court opinion that struck down state laws against abortion.

Even if the case does not succeed in court, legal analysts and experts in the field say the implications for the court of public opinion are hard to overstate.

The lawsuit was filed by pro-life leader Amie Beth Shaver, named Miss Alabama in 1994, on behalf of "Baby Q," an African American baby in Alabama who was unborn when the case began. Baby Q represents all other similarly situated black babies in the womb across the state.

According to the complaint, Baby Q and other members of the "class" are being unlawfully discriminated against and targeted for abortion by the industry. Abortion giant Planned Parenthood acknowledges its roots in the eugenics movement, but says it is working to rectify that legacy.

"About 80 members of Baby Q’s class, which is African American babies in the womb, lose their lives in abortion every week in Alabama," Sam McClure, the lead lawyer representing the babies, told The Epoch Times in a phone interview. "Enough is enough. This has to stop."

Several leaders involved in the case told The Epoch Times that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry more broadly have a long history of racism and support for eugenics, the highly controversial idea that humanity should be "improved" by weeding out allegedly inferior genes from the population.

"This case really boils down to the question of whether states have the right to prohibit eugenics abortion," added McClure.

#6  According to the Abortion Surveillance Report issued by the Center for Disease Control.

Black women make up 14 percent of the childbearing population, yet obtained 38 percent of all reported abortions.

In short Black women have the highest abortion ratio in the country, with 474 abortions per 1,000 live births.

38% of all abortions, which is more than any other racial group, and equals well over 24 million black babies have been aborted since 1973.

Remember it is the Democrats (aka The KKK-Political Party) that have fought to defended Roe vs Wade tooth and nail for 42+ Years.

Yet about 94% of the Black Community and its Reverend TRIO swear by the Democrats as their protectors and still vote for them.

And likely, the black community just goes for more abortions, because they need them. There is adamant rejection of judeochristian values, common sense, and sexual discipline. Literally the main selling point for the pro-abortionists: crime fell in America’s cities in the 1990s because that was the first post-Roe v. Wade generation, and as a result there were fewer inner city kids in the prime criminality age range.

'Putin will be gone soon': Exiled Russian dissident Ilya Ponomarev
[France24] Exiled Russian dissident Ilya Ponomarev gave an interview to FRANCE 24 from Kyiv. The former Russian lawmaker was the only member of the Douma to vote against the annexation of Crimea back in 2014 and now lives in Ukraine. He predicted that "Putin will be gone soon", arguing that the Russian president has "definitely lost the war" in Ukraine and that "no dictator who has lost a war can stay in power". Asked about the suspected war crimes in Bucha that have shocked the world, Ponomarev claimed that the killings were most likely the results of "panic" by retreating Russian forces, rather than carefully planned.

Ilya Ponomarev, a former Russian lawmaker-turned-opponent of Vladimir Putin, who has lived in Ukraine since 2016, told FRANCE 24 that Putin has already lost the war in Ukraine and that his days in power are numbered.

Ponomarev, who was the only member of the Russian Douma to vote against the annexation of Crimea back in 2014 and who joined the Ukrainian territorial defence forces at the onset of the war, warned that the Russian president will attempt to obtain a military victory by trying to carve out a Russian-controlled area from Kharkiv to Odesa, which would include the Donbas region.

China-Japan-Koreas
China Conducting ‘Execution by Heart Removal' for Lucrative Organ Trade
[Breitbart] Researchers at the Australian National University (ANU) published a study on Tuesday concluding that years of Chinese government data indicate government surgeons have killed prison inmates by tearing out their organs for transplants.

The ANU study pored through years of descriptive documents on the executions of death row inmates and found inconsistencies that indicated the inmates were not brain dead when surgeons tore out their vital organs, to be used in transplant surgeries. The researchers concluded that, in many of the cases they identified in Chinese government reports, tearing out organs was the "proximate cause" of death for the inmates.

"Might the transplant surgeon become the de facto executioner? Evidence suggestive of such behavior has emerged over many years from the People’s Republic of China (PRC)," the report stated.

The researchers concluded that China had likely breached a medical ethics standard known as the "dead donor rule," which asserts that doctors should not kill people to transplant their organs into another person. The report follows years of mounting evidence — organized similarly by medical researchers, human rights activists, journalists, and attorneys — suggesting that China has systematically killed political dissidents and members of religious and spiritual communities it disapproves of to sell their organs to wealthy buyers.

Government Corruption
Stay silent or double down: What Hunter Biden intel letter signees are doing now
[Washington Examiner] The former intelligence officials who signed an October 2020 letter baselessly claiming Russian involvement in the Hunter Biden laptop stories are largely remaining silent, though some have continued to defend their signatures, while a few recently returned to government service.

The laptop saga has burst back into public view a year and a half after the New York Post published emails belonging to now-President Joe Biden's son, with the New York Times and the Washington Post finally joining a number of right-leaning outlets that had confirmed the authenticity of emails on the laptop.

Despite offering no proof, Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, along with many in the media, dismissed the laptop story as being a Russian disinformation operation. The president called the story a Russian operation during one of the 2020 presidential debates with then-President Donald Trump.

He claimed: "There are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plan. They have said this is, has all the — four, five former heads of the CIA. Both parties say what he’s saying is a bunch of garbage."

The future president was referring to a Politico report about the letter in an article titled "Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say." The title was misleading because the letter never directly called it Russian "disinformation."

[Garowe] The Somali National Army [SNA] on Wednesday seized an explosive-laden vehicle, a move that may have as well prevented a possible attack in the country amid ongoing Ramadan, a holy month in the Islamic calendar.

State media reported that the vehicle was seized in Guriel town in the Galgadud region of Galmadug state, but the intention of the occupants was not immediately known. Guriel town has been a battleground for security forces and al-Shabaab

The Somali National Army said two occupants of the vehicle were immediately arrested and ate currently being grilled by authorities. It's not clear where the men were driving the vehicle to but preliminary reports show they could be al-Shabaab members.

"Somali National Army seized an explosive-laden vehicle and 2 male occupants on the outskirts of Guri-el town in Galgadud region in the early hours of Wednesday. The 2 men are now in Police custody for further investigation," local security officials confirmed to State Media.

NISA: Al-Shabaab plotting to attack Farmaajo and PM Roble
[Garowe] Somalia's controversial National Intelligence Security Agency [NISA] now claims al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...

murderous Moslems are plotting to eliminate outgoing President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohammed Hussein Roble, in the latest twist of events in the Horn of Africa nation.

In a post that analysts dismiss as "political", NISA claimed it has already briefed national leaders about the plot, adding that precautions have been taken to protect the two leaders, who are in charge of the country's fragile executive.

While the agency did not give finer details of the plot, it alleged that an individual named Mohammed Mahir, who is believed to be a senior al-Shabaab leader, is orchestrating an attack against the president and Prime Minister Mohammed Hussein Roble.

Both Roble and Farmaajo are yet to publicly comment on the outrageous claim and it's not clear whether PM Roble was adequately briefed. The two leaders have been battling for the control of the executive for months now.

Attacks targeting senior Somalia government officials including presidents and even former ministers are common in the country. The murderous Moslems usually target to eliminate senior government officials, security forces, and innocent civilians.

The warning comes as election impasse flares among Somali PM and pro-Villa Somalia members over the federal poll commission. The spy agency has recently been dubbed as dubious given its interference in politics and polls, and its never-ending association with Farmaajo.

Currently, NISA is under the leadership of Abdullahi Farey, a close ally of President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo. Last year, Roble kicked out Fahad Yasin, a former al-Jazeera journalist who went on to become one of the most feared sleuths often accused of interfering with the country's internal politics.

Last week, PM Roble noted that he was receiving disguised death threat messages from individuals he claimed of knowing them. Given the alleged al-Shabaab meddling in the spy agency, security experts contend that this is a politically motivated threat by NISA.

While speaking at the funeral of slain MP Amina Mohammed Abdi, Roble added that he's been receiving threats after endorsing the sacking of a regional election committee. In the same event, the PM alleged that Amina and missing intelligence agent Ikran Tahlil were killed by the same people.

NISA's statement has been dismissed as absurdity with analysts contending that the agency is playing politics with the people of Somalia. There have been calls to disband the agency given that it is accused of taking sides on matters of politics.

"I have worked with more than 5 Prime Ministers since 2009/10 in situations much worse than this, never saw this kind of infiltration and conspiracy closely collaborated with the enemy. Having said that, I believe Somalia will prevail and we will come out stronger," says Kamal Gutale, former Chief of Staff at Villa Somalia.

"The timing of the warning issued by NISA is highly suspicious and worrying," adds Mohammed Farole, who is senior security advisor to the Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
presidency. "The agency is currently under the leadership of a group affiliated with Villa Somalia, which could have a vested interest in this warning."

New warnings about deliberate attacks on civilians by either side likely will become de rigueur as the war wears on.

[NewsFrontInfo] In the city of Pervomaisky, Kharkiv region, Ukrainian special services are preparing a major provocation using poisonous substances.

There was also information that the special services were planning to blow up a storage facility with 120 tons of chlorine in the Kharkiv region to blame Russia for this.

In turn, the Russian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region destroyed the fuel base and the accumulation of foreign-made military equipment and weapons.

“High-precision ground-based missiles in the Donetsk region destroyed: the command post of the Ukrainian 56th separate motorized infantry brigade in the area of the village of Novogradovka, as well as the base of nationalists in the village of Grodovka,” the representative of the department noted.

During the day, operational-tactical aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit 34 military facilities of Ukraine. Among them: an artillery battery, two logistics depots, as well as 9 strongholds and areas of concentration of military equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces.

Sarah Lawrence Cult Leader Convicted of Trafficking and Extortion
[NYTIMES] For a decade, Lawrence V. Ray exerted near-total control over a group of young people he met after moving into a dormitory at Sarah Lawrence College, prosecutors said. He presented himself as a mentor, isolating students from their parents, pressuring them into degrading acts and extorting hundreds of thousands of dollars from them.

Some remained loyal, even after a story in New York magazine in 2019 detailed a host of abuses ascribed to Mr. Ray. But during a nearly monthlong trial in Federal District Court in Manhattan, four former followers provided detailed testimony about how he indoctrinated and exploited them.

On Wednesday, three of those witnesses watched from the gallery as the jury forewoman announced that Mr. Ray had been found guilty of all 15 federal counts, including extortion, sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

Mr. Ray, 62, wearing a blue shirt and dark-colored dress pants, was impassive as the verdict was announced. Afterward, defense lawyers declined to comment.

Damian Williams, the United States attorney in Manhattan, said in a statement that the verdict was just and praised those who testified, saying, "We are in awe of their bravery in the face of incredible trauma."

Biden administration giving cell phones to illegal immigrants
[FoxNews] The White House confirmed Wednesday that illegal immigrants are being provided with electronic devices, notably cell phones, in an effort for the Biden administration to "track" and "check in" with them as they await immigration court proceedings.

Asked by Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy about the initiative, White House press secretary Jen Psaki the purpose was to monitor illegal immigrants.

"The Alternatives to Detention Program, which is what we utilize, has three unique forms of technology to monitor participants enrolled in the program," Psaki said. "Telephonic is one of them, which uses a participant's voice to create a biometric voiceprint during the enrollment process. And when the participant has a check-in call, their voice is compared to the voiceprint."

"Smartlink, which is another option, enables participant monitoring via smartphone or tablet using facial matching technology to establish identity," Psaki continued. She also noted the government's "Global Positioning System" which monitors the location and movement history of illegal immigrants awaiting trial through an ankle bracelet.

Psaki said the handing out of smartphones "is all part of our effort as individuals come into the United States and individuals who are entering who will proceed to immigration proceedings to monitor and track where they are."

She said the "vast, vast majority of people are appearing" on time as a result of the Biden administration's monitoring efforts.

Doocy asked Psaki whether there was concern by anyone in the administration that some migrants may decide to take the phones and "toss them."

"Do you have a record people throwing phones away," she responded.

"I'm just asking if that's a concern," Doocy said.

"Our concern is ensuring that individuals who irregularly migrate to the United States proceed through our process of, you know, of course, being monitored, but also participating in hearings to determine whether or not they will be able to stay," Psaki said.

Dagestan investigator charged with extortion
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The case of a former investigator from Makhachkala, accused of extorting a bribe from a suspect, has been submitted to court.

According to investigators, the work of the employee was a criminal case of a local resident, who was suspected of extortion. In October 2021, the investigator demanded a bribe of 1 million rubles from the suspect, and in return promised not to prosecute him, investigators believe. Then, according to the investigation, the amount of the bribe was reduced to 700,000 rubles.

However, a local resident turned to law enforcement agencies. On October 25, 2021, after receiving the required amount, the former investigator was detained, he was accused of extorting a large bribe (paragraphs “b” and “c” of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for Dagestan reported today on its website. The employee's case has been sent to court, the report said.

Note that the maximum penalty under this article is twelve years in prison.

There were no comments from the former investigator or his representatives regarding the indictment.

The "Caucasian Knot" wrote that in September 2021, a case was sent to court on extortion of 24 million rubles from the director of a plant in Makhachkala by a former police officer who had been hiding from the investigation for eight years.

BLM's LA mansion sold for 250 percent more than the price of similar homes in the area
[NYPOST] The $6 million Los Angeles mansion purchased by the country’s top Black Lives Matter group sold for 250 percent more than the price of similar properties in its Studio City neighborhood, and went for $2.7 million more than property records show.Records state that the property initially sold for $3.1 million in October 2020, but by the time it was transferred to a shell company controlled by Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation days later, the price had increased to $5.8 million.

It’s unclear what caused the discrepancy. A front man for BLMGNF could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

BLMGNF bought the sprawling property, which features a separate sound stage, pool and guest house, in the fall of 2020 to be used as a creative "campus" and safe house for the group, according to a report in New York magazine on Monday.

From the Russian Perspective: Operation on Denazification of Ukraine: operational summary April 6th (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFrontInfo] 20:08 Presumably, a ship's anchor mine was found on the western coast of Crimea - the Ministry of Emergency Situations. After the storm cleared the mines laid by the Armed Forces of Ukraine off the coast of Odessa, ammunition is regularly found on the Black Sea coast of Turkey and Romania.

18:40 Weapons and ammunition that was distributed to the civilian population in Snigirevka withdrawn Russian Guard.

18:36 Izyum is under fire from Ukrainian rocket artillery right now. Cluster munitions explode right above the city center.

17:47 Kherson and Zaporozhye regions begin trading in rubles: “Crimea is very closely and fruitfully restoring cooperation with the southern regions of Ukraine, which have always been drawn to us, have always helped Crimea as a tourist territory to supply food to a large number of tourists. Our friends in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions are restoring this function. They are starting to trade in rubles,” said Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Georgy Muradov.

17:05 Kyiv has been disrupting the exchange of prisoners of war for a long time, and on previously agreed conditions: the exchange of prisoners of war planned for April 6 has been thwarted by the Ukrainian side.

17:04 Russia treats all prisoners in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law - the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

17:03 I accuse the Western media, and above all the American ones, not just of spreading fakes and misinformation, but of complicity in the crime in the city of Bucha-Zakharova.

17:02 The Russian Defense Ministry calls on the UN, the OSCE, the ICRC, as well as the leadership of Germany, Turkey and France, which are actively working in the Ukrainian humanitarian direction, to demand that the Ukrainian authorities immediately provide access for representatives of the ICRC to Russian prisoners of war, in order to establish conditions of detention and conduct an in-depth medical examination, with the subsequent transfer of reporting documents to the Russian side and international organizations.

16:47 It has been reliably established that torture, violence, bullying are used against Russian servicemen, which, with their inhumanity, copy the actions of punishers during the Second World War - the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

16:33 The Turkish Defense Ministry announced the successful neutralization of a drifting mine found in the Black Sea.

15:51 After the provocation in Bucha, it seems quite likely that Kiev is preparing new sabotage, including the use of chemical weapons.

Radicals store ballistic missiles containing more than two thousand tons of highly toxic fuel at the Pavlograd Mechanical Plant. These weapons
can be used by neo-Nazis to carry out a chemical attack on the civilian population with the aim of subsequently accusing the Russian military.

15:31 Head of the Georgian Legion fighting in Ukraine declared that neither he nor his subordinates will take Russian soldiers prisoner. Mamuka Mamulashvili stated this on the air of the Air program.

Previously, videos appeared on the network where Russian soldiers lying on the road with their hands tied were finished off with a shot in the head. Mamulashvili confirmed that the employees of his legion do this.

15:08 The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution allowing the defense (Volkssturm) to use rocket systems and artillery. What does it mean? This means official, state "good" for terrorism.

15:05 This create fakes about "civilians" killed by the Russian military. Pinocchio by UkrNaziFilm. It’s troublesome with the living, sometimes they smoke corpses, sometimes they remove hands from under the wheels and rise up like zombies in a side view mirror, and these quiet, calm ones, where you put them, lie there.

14:53 Another Nazi from "Azov" went to the cauldron to Bandera and Shukhevych. This time, the militant Yaroslav Briginets, callsign "Makhach" was disposed of.

14:02 The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the discovery of another mine in the Black Sea.

Turkey found another one mine in the Black Sea.

13:25 The staging in Bucha needs to be investigated, but a real, impartial, independent investigation is needed - Peskov.

13:07 The order to withdraw Russian troops from the Kiev region was personally given by Vladimir Putin - Peskov.

11:43 Descendants of the victors on the reclaimed height of Kremenets above Izyum. Ivan III defended himself from the Tatars on it, bloody battles took place on it in the Great Patriotic War. It is now controlled by Russian troops.

Descendants of the winners on the reclaimed height of Kremenets over Izyum

11:10 Captured weapons and ammunition, capturedin the city of Snigirevka. This city with a population of just over 12,000 people became one of the first large settlements in the Nikolaev region, which completely came under the control of the RF Armed Forces.

11:06 RF Armed Forces to Kherson delivered more than 10 tons of humanitarian aid, among the goods - various cereals, sugar, sunflower oil, canned food. They also handed over blankets, pillows, household chemicals and medicines to the residents of Kherson, and the children were given school supplies.

11:03 The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed video strikes with Onyx missiles at fuel depots supplying Ukrainian troops.

10:36 In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the following have been destroyed: 125 aircraft, 93 helicopters, 407 unmanned aerial vehicles, 227 anti-aircraft missile systems, 1981 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 215 multiple rocket launchers, 854 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 1882 units of special military vehicles.

10:27 Russian air defense systems shot down four unmanned aerial vehicles in the air in the areas of the settlements of Berdyansk, Gornyak, Uvanskoye and Chernobaevka.

10:25 During the night, operational-tactical aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces and missile forces hit 24 military facilities of Ukraine. Among them: the Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system, five warehouses for logistics, as well as 11 strongholds and areas of concentration of military equipment of Ukrainian troops.

10:15 On the morning of April 6, high-precision air and ground-based missiles destroyed five bases for storing fuel and lubricants in the areas of the settlements of Radekhov, Kazatin, Prosyanaya, Nikolaev and Novomoskovsk. From these facilities, military equipment was supplied with fuel to groups of Ukrainian troops in the regions of Kharkov, Nikolaev and in the Donbass.

09:43 APU yesterday fired mortars at the positions of Russian border guards in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region - Governor Roman Starovoit. There are no casualties or destruction.

09:20 A missile attack was launched on objects in the town of Kozyatyn, Vinnytsia region. An oil depot and a military unit were destroyed.

08:57 Briefly in Izyum: at 0500 hrs, units of the 20th Combined Arms Army (252 SMEs of the 3rd Vislenskaya Motorized Rifle Division) occupied the village of Brazhkovka, for which there were fierce battles for several days. At the moment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are pulling up forces and preparing to counterattack.

08:52 In Nikolaev, held by Ukrainian troops, local residents draw V and Z symbols on the streets.

08:47 Ukrainian official sources confirm the destruction of two oil depots - in Kazatin and near Dnepropetrovsk.

08:08 At night, the Russian Air Force struck exclusively at military facilities, bases, warehouses and locations in Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Lvov, Vinnitsa, Novomoskovsk, Odessa.

08:00 As a result of the blows of rocket artillery of the Kiev regime in residential areas of Izyum injured seven civilians. A total of five people died. APU use cluster munitions around the city. barbarian way of warfare. Unfortunately, this is the norm for the neo-Nazi regime.

US says it tested hypersonic missile, kept it mum to not antagonize Russia
[IsraelTimes] The US military says it conducted a new test of a hypersonic missile, as Pentagon officials seek to match or get ahead of China’s and Russia’s advances in the cutting-edge strategic weapons technology.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency says it recently completed a free-flight test of an aircraft-launched hypersonic missile that maintained a speed of more than Mach 5, or five times the speed of sound (at least 3,800 miles per hour, or 6,100 kilometers per hour).

The missile flew to greater than 65,000 feet (189,812 meters) and soared over 300 nautical miles, says DARPA.

It was the second test under the agency’s HAWC Program — named for hypersonic air-breathing weapon concept — and the missile had a different configuration from the first, which was tested last September.

According to CNN
...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for...
, the newest test took place in mid-March but was kept quiet to avoid appearing to escalate the geopolitical tensions surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

US Army investigates death of medevac pilot who crashed Black Hawk helicopter into another chopper at Georgia base while crewmembers slept
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Where were the crewmembers sleeping?
  • The US Army is investigating whether the crash of two HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters at Wright Army Airfield in Georgia last month was intentional

  • Capt. James Bellew, 26, was on medevac duty at the airfield on March 30 when the two helicopters crashed into each other at around 2 a.m.

  • He was the only crewmember involved in the crash and was the only one killed or injured as all of the other crewmembers were asleep at that time

  • It is unclear how he was able to start at least one of the helicopters without waking anyone

  • The Criminal Investigation Division is now probing the crash, which indicates that criminal activity is suspected

#1  was the only one killed or injured as all of the other crewmembers were asleep at that time

Ha ha ha! Those Daily Mail schmucks.

Reading it one would visualise a rotorhead starting up a chopper with men on it sleeping in their harnesses like babes, the bird then yawing drunkenly through the sky and smashing into another one. And only the errant pilot died because the rest were too busy still sleeping to die. 😁

#2  It's a twisty story any way you see it. There weren't any Security airmen walking post when this went down?
Posted by: M. Murcek || 04/07/2022 9:18 Comments || Top||

#3  So the crews sleep in quarters next to the flight line. The generally sleep on the furthest side of the building as to not be bothered by other aircraft taxiing by. So getting up and going to an aircraft without anyone noticing is easy. Starting a Blackhawk as a single pilot is not that difficult. It is classified as a two pilot aircraft but it is very capable of being flown by one person.
So I am assuming the question is if it was suicide or was he in a deep sleepwalk induced by meds. If the CPT was stealing the aircraft it would be easy.

Not for long. When they're introduced to Goldman Sachs, they will learn that they and the rest of the Russians can make windfall profits trading Russian debt thanks to the Biden Administration's carve outs for western banks and hedge funds. #4  Goldman are telling clients they can make a killing by scooping up Russian bonds at artificially low prices.

They can also make a fortune by shipping Russian wheat. Russian wheat shipments were up 60% in March. Volumes are increasing and prices are soaring, and Russia is taking over Ukraine's market share.

This is because Russia's victories in the South and East have made Ukraine effectively a landlocked nation; they cannot export anything through the Black Sea. There are rail lines but they cannot handle more than a tiny fraction of the volume demanded by countries like Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Libya, and Israel. Russia has grabbed Ukraine's share of exports to those crucial markets.

#7  And they can.

#8  Apologies for the duplication.

Anyway Russia is taking over Ukraine's vital export markets. Wheat, coal, steel, sunflower oil: even if the EU tries to rebuild Ukraine's infrastructure that's been completely destroyed, Ukraine will not be able to ship through the Black Sea any longer. As well, Russia has taken control of the lands in the East that have extensive reserves of natural gas.

For these reasons investors in Switzerland, New York and London (also Dubai) are buying up heavily discounted Russian debt from Goldman, JPMorgan and other US brokers. As the poster above said, it's entirely legal, and it is enabling Russians and others to lock in enormous profits.
Posted by: Snimble Omatch6842 || 04/07/2022 8:03 Comments || Top||

#9  "And they can"

If by "they" you mean Russia, yes that is correct. Ukraine's remaining Black Sea ports are closed, their harbors are mined. By contrast Russia's ports are open for business and are "very busy," according to the leading consultancy focussed on Ukrainian and Russian grain exports, SovEcon.

Another consultancy reports that "export vessels are being loaded at all five Black Sea grain terminals after a pause of 7-10 days at the beginning of the conflict....The export pace is so hot that SovEcon recently upped its forecast for the country’s March wheat shipments from 1.3 million tonnes (Mt) to 2Mt due to the strong export demand. That expectation was supported by IKAR last week, which announced it now expected March wheat exports to exceed 2Mt. While freight rates are substantially higher, so too are global prices."

They also own oil trading companies in Switzerland too. Also trading companies for wheat and other commodities. The US sanctions aren't going to hurt them much.

@Lampedusa: The Chinese and Indians are supporting the ruble. Africans as well.

It's very easy to get around the sanctions. The Biden Administration created so many loopholes that anyone with a correspondent bank and a connection to a broker like Goldman can evade the sanctions.

#24  #16 Word from traders in the City is the sanctions have become a joke. Russia's exporting even more than before the war and the Asian central banks and trading firms are on Russia's side.

This is correct. The rupee/ruble trading mechanism is being finalized. Bankers and investors are confident that they can accept ruble payments now and that the combined power of backing by China's yuan and Russia's gold will preserve the value of their ruble holdings. This is why the ruble is the best performing currency in the world now.

"De-dollarisation" is coming, much faster than expected. The Emirates just announced they're supporting Russia. All of OPEC plus all of the BRICS nations have a higher GDP than the EU. The West's sanctions are collapsing.

They're not getting arrested, they're getting even richer. All the oligarchs including the West's oligarchs are making bank from inflation and sanctions. The sanctions have holes big enough to drive a Mack truck through. You think that's not on purpose?

Guys like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett know how to turn hyperinflation to their advantage and they can easily bust sanctions without getting caught... or even breaking the law.

Gates is the biggest private landowner in the United States: he's making huge profits from spiraling food prices and the real estate landgrab. Gates and Buffett are collecting windfalls from all the freight charges for tar sands oil shipped on the train companies they own. Buffett bought a huge stake in Occidental Petroleum just before Putin invaded Ukraine.

#36  Short version: The West is screwing itself and will never recover from this own goal.

Long version: "We are witnessing the birth of Bretton Woods III – a new world (monetary) order centered on commodity-based currencies in the East that will likely weaken the Eurodollar system and also contribute to inflationary forces in the West.” – – Zoltan Pozsar, Former Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury Department official, and now Credit Suisse Global Head of Short-Term Interest Rate Strategy based in New York.

In a note published earlier, Zoltan wrote this crisis is not like anything we have seen since President Nixon took the U.S. dollar off gold in 1971 – the end of the era of commodity-based money.

When this crisis is over, the U.S. dollar should be much weaker. From the Bretton Woods era backed by gold bullion, to Bretton Woods II backed by inside money (Treasuries with un-hedgeable confiscation risks), to Bretton Woods III backed by outside money (gold bullion and other commodities), Zoltan believes the global monetary system will never be the same post the crisis.

Day 42 Ukraine invasion militaryland.net sitrep -Battle for the East near
Ukraine believes, and satellite seems to confirm, that Russia is moving forces into position to try a new major push to take substantial territory west of Luhansk and Donatsk cities (that are capitals of the separatist breakaway regions). This would require effective contributions from new conscripts, units withdrawn from the N and NE battles, the L and D separatist militia and whatever else Russia can put on the field. Ukraine has forces dug in along this front but probably needs to reinforce its units and get civilians out of the way.

Putin presumably wants to proclaim victory or impending victory by May 9 which is V-E day and typically a big parade day in Moscow.

and yet Russia hasn't completely subdued Mariupol yet despite throwing a lot of their forces into this effort for weeks and despite the fact that Mariupol has been surrounded since 2 March.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran to lay to rest cleric stabbed to death by suspected jihadist
[IsraelTimes] Chief suspect in bloody attack named as Abdolatif Moradi, 21, an ethnic Uzbek who had entered country illegally; President Raisi blamed the attack on influence of US ‘apostates’

Iran was to hold a memorial service Wednesday for a Shiite Muslim cleric stabbed to death a day earlier by a suspected Sunni extremist in the revered Imam Reza shrine in the northeastern city of Mashhad.

The chief suspect in the bloody attack was named as Abdolatif Moradi, 21, an ethnic Uzbek who had entered Iran illegally via the Pakistani border a year ago, the Tasnim news agency reported.

Moradi had “worked in transport” in a poor city district and had been active on social media using pseudonyms including Abdolatif al-Salafi to “spread takfiri ideology and confront Shiites.”

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi blamed the knife attack, which wounded two other clerics, on the influence of US-based “takfiri” — a term used for Muslims who brand others as apostates, condemning them to death, and usually referring to Sunni extremists.

Raisi — who once chaired the charitable foundation that runs the gold-domed Imam Reza shrine — instructed Iran’s intelligence ministry to probe the killing of the cleric Mohammad Aslani, who held the rank of hojatoleslam.

The assailant struck on Iran’s third day of the holy month of Ramadan as large crowds of worshipers had gathered in the courtyard of the shrine of Imam Reza, one of the most revered figures in Shiite Islam.

Authorities arrested six suspected accomplices, including the chief suspect’s two brothers, after the attack in Mashhad, Iran’s second-largest city with more than three million people.

The assailant stabbed one of the victims “20 times,” the Tasnim report said.

Flowers were placed at the scene of the attack, in the courtyard of the mausoleum of Imam Reza, the eighth of the 12 holy imams in Shiite Islam, Iran’s state religion since the 16th century.

The Fars news agency released a picture of the three victims seated together in Mashhad, naming the two wounded clerics only as Pakdaman and Daraei.

The memorial service for Aslani was to take place in the evening, state news agency IRNA reported. His body will be carried by shrine officials, who will circle the courtyard several times while worshippers read the Koran.

He will be buried on Thursday in a square reserved for martyrs in the shrine’s courtyard.

The head of media at the mausoleum, who gave his name as Mr. Rostamzadeh, told AFP that “after the knife attack, the assailant was arrested by security services and 15 minutes later everything was back to normal.

“People were absolutely not afraid — on the contrary, it aroused religious fervor,” he said. “There was no closure or interruption.”

“There are a lot of people, the shrine is full of worshipers and pilgrims who attend religious ceremonies, especially during Ramadan.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran has a population of 83 million, 90 percent of whom are Shiite Muslims.

Joe Biden in 1997 saying that the only thing that could provoke a "vigorous and hostile" Russian response would be if NATO expanded as far as the Baltic states

The public has been induced to embrace the Western narrative, while being kept in the dark about Washington’s ulterior motives.
In his 1997 book, The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives, Zbigniew Brzezinski wrote:

"Ukraine, a new and important space on the Eurasian chessboard, is a geopolitical pivot because its very existence as an independent country helps to transform Russia. Without Ukraine, Russia ceases to be a Eurasian empire. Russia without Ukraine can still strive for imperial status, but it would then become a predominantly Asian imperial state."

#1  Pelosi has Covid. Just saw that and it prompted by suspicious nature, given the proximity to the now disastrous Obama White House return videos and the horrified reaction as people saw the true nature of the Puppet Theater we call the Biden Administration.

Clearly the Hunter Biden miasma is now out of the basement sewer and sloshing around the steps leading up to 1600. It is the predicate to 25th the Puppet, but what to do about the Cackle-Jackal, who was in full display with Obama. If Pelosi exits, the House of Representatives can elect a new Speaker, and what if the name were Rice or even Obama? There is no prohibition for someone outside Congress to be elected to that post. Once the #3 position in succession is fixed, Jojo can be dumped, especially if some form of Modus Vivendi is reached with Harris to follow the script, or take a very very lucrative lifetime career elsewhere. Either way, the door might be opened for an Obama 3.5. Alternatively, if Harris could be bought off very soon, nothing prevents Obama from being voted by Congress as a replacement Vice President, and then, Jojo departs by the end of 2022 and poof, two more years as President for the Magic Kenyan. An in 2024, Big Mike is the candidate with the de-facto co-presidency sales pitch. Six more years of Change You Can Believe In to transform the country!

#2  The way Joe and his handlers look at the calculus is that Russia is weak and now is the time to push hard on the geopolitical football field. If the current war in Ukraine can be used to bring about regime change in Moscow the new regime might be made friendly and subservient to the globalist elites in Brussels and Washington. They might be corrupted the way the Ukrainians have, the way Joe has. The European Union could then be expanded all the way from the Atlantic to the Pacific. And, like they're doing in Western Europe and America, the native population will be replaced by immigrantscolonists from the Middle East and the Caucasus. Well, it has to be a big, big, grandiose vision to risk nuclear war. Deny it if you will but you must admit that this is the modus operandi of our globalist elites.

You can remove your tin foil hats now but you can bet your butt that Putin won't.

Ukraine activists say they ID'd 'Butcher of Bucha' commander leading 'genocide'

[NYPOST] Ukrainian activists claim to have identified the so-called "Butcher of Bucha," a decorated Russian commander leading the unit that massacred hundreds of civilians in what is being widely condemned as genocide. Lt. Col. Azatbek Omurbekov, thought to be around 40, was first identified by InformNapalm, a Ukrainian volunteer group that monitors Russia’s military and special services.

It shared his home address as well as email and telephone number, calling him the "military villain" behind the massacre in Bucha, the suburb of Kyiv where bodies have been left strewn in the street or thrown into mass graves.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF, police seize 30 firearms in latest smuggling attempt on Jordan border
[IsraelTimes] Military says one suspect arrested and another escapes, as authorities step up efforts to halt weapon-running operations on eastern frontier

Israeli security forces arrested a man suspected of smuggling guns into Israel from Jordan overnight Tuesday, confiscating a large number of firearms in the process, the military said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, 19 handguns, three AK-type assault rifles, two M-16 assault rifles, a shotgun, and four magazines were found during the arrest. A second suspect managed to flee, the military said.

Soldiers operating surveillance cameras spotted the two suspicious men crossing the border, and after a brief chase, one was arrested by coppers.

The alleged gun smuggler was not immediately identified.

The IDF has stepped up efforts to halt smuggling attempts along the Jordanian border in recent months. Such attempts are foiled every few weeks, but some officials have admitted that the military has failed to achieve much success thus far.

Unlike Israel’s other frontiers — with Egypt, Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...a formerly French, now an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. ...
and Syria — its border with Jordan is largely open, often without significant fencing, and is relatively unguarded, making it an easy location for large-scale smuggling.

Police have previously indicated guns smuggled over the border are likely to be sold to Paleostinians in the West Bank, and Arab Israelis, for both criminal and terror purposes.

Last month dozens of firearms apparently smuggled over the Jordan border were seized.

Authorities have increasingly sought to crack down on the spread of illegal weapons in the Arab Israeli community, which have been used to carry out record-breaking numbers of murders in recent years.

According to the Abraham Initiatives, a group lobbying against violence in the Arab community, 125 Arabs — an all-time record — were killed in Israel in 2021 as a result of violence and crime.

Economy
Nobel economists were dead wrong on inflation
[THEHILL] Last September, as the Build Back Better legislation was being considered in Congress, many members worried about the inflationary pressure of injecting an additional $2.4 trillion into the economy on top of the $4.1 trillion committed to the American Rescue Plan and the Cares Act.

When it looked like the Democratic majority might include enough deficit hawks to scuttle the bill, Nobel Laureate economist Joseph Stiglitz rounded up another 16 of the 36 living American Nobel Prize economists to declare, in an open letter, that whatever upward pressure on prices all this new money might bring there was no threat of inflation.

Forget what government statistics were already signaling. Many non-Nobel economists recognized that a clear case of demand-pull inflation was already underway. The price of used cars, the vehicles people buy when new cars seem unaffordable, led a clearly rising consumer price index.

The Nobelists’ letter showed that those signing had bought Team Biden’s novel argument that its enormous expansion of social welfare programs really was just a different form of infrastructure investment, just like roads and bridges. Gary Becker, the Nobel economist recognized for developing human capital theory 50 years ago, likely would not look at spending $410 billion on “climate resilience” as being as important as providing after-school enrichment programs for poor kids.

No matter. In an act of intellectual legerdemain, the wise men said that expanding social welfare programs would operate like old-fashioned countercyclical policy — unemployment checks would support a continuing but smaller level of consumer demand. This approach, a clever idea developed by practical post-war economists, was careful not to disincentivize job searching by setting benefits too high.

#1  if you read their 'open letter' they presume that the BBB would have reduced 'income inequity' and helped productivity

Economists have made the same wrong assumptions before that the stated purposes of legislation lead to these effects === mthe BBB like many other programs, e.g., the infrastructure bill, the various covid relief bills, have some good sections but a lot of waste, a lot of pork barrel, a lot of special interest subsidy

#2  ...that whatever upward pressure on prices all this new money might bring there was no threat of inflation.

Correct, it was "no threat." It (inflation) was already taking place. The "open letter" was a political undertaking, nothing more. I am reminded of the gaggle of 52 senior intelligence professionals who spoke against Trump.

BLM's Patrisse Cullors slams 'racist' report on organization buying $6M SoCal mansion
[NYPOST] Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors slammed a report by New York Magazine that detailed the organization’s purchase of a swanky $5.8 million Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, home — claiming the story is a "racist and sexist" attack on the movement. The 6,500-square-foot mansion features more than six bedrooms and bathrooms and was "secretly bought" with BLM’s donation funds, the magazine reported and The Post later confirmed. The luxe property once hosted Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe as house guests — and comes complete with a sound stage, music studio, pool and a two-bedroom guest house.

Cullors called the article about the massive home a "despicable abuse of a platform that’s intended to provide information to the public" in a Tuesday Instagram post.

"The fact that a reputable publication would allow a news hound, with a proven and very public bias against me and other Black leaders, to write a piece filled with misinformation, innuendo and incendiary opinions, is disheartening and unacceptable," she wrote of the piece authored by Sean Campbell.

The article revealed that the seven-bedroom residence was purchased by Dyane Pascall two weeks after BLMGNF received $66.5 million from its fiscal sponsor. Pascall is the financial manager for an LLC operated by Cullors and her spouse, Janaya Khan — Janaya and Patrisse Consulting.

Ownership was transferred within a week to an LLC in Delaware, ensuring the property’s owner wouldn’t be disclosed and the purchase of the nearly $6 million home had not been previously reported, the magazine claimed. BLM officials tried to keep its existence a secret from members of the media looking into the transaction.

Cullors recorded a video last June outside the home to mark the first anniversary of George Floyd’s murder, in which she remarked she was in "survival mode" after The Post’s exclusive reporting last April revealed her purchase of four high-end US homes for $3.2 million.

"What’s happening to me and to our movement is both racist and sexist," Cullors wrote regarding the reporting on her purchases. "What is happening to me is not about accountability or healing. It’s about destroying my life and destroying a powerful movement."

In the post, Cullors said the reason the purchase wasn’t announced was the house — which she claims was bought to "be a safe space for Black people" — required "repairs and renovations."

Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety documents reviewed by The Post showed the last renovation done on the property was roof work by the previous owner in 2017, and pictures of the listing showed it in mint condition.

Cullors goes on to say that she "never misappropriated funds," a claim the article does not accuse her of. She also said the scrutiny she is facing is "unfair and unjust."

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott directs use of buses to drop off migrants at steps of Capitol in DC
[FoxNews] Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that undocumented migrants released into his state will be shipped to the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., as border checkpoints struggle to manage the flow of people attempting to enter the United States and the Biden administration's move to eliminate the Title 42 expulsion provision.

The state will provide charter buses to drop off migrants – many released into small Texas communities that officials say are overwhelmed – in Washington, the Republican governor said in a news conference.

"We are sending them to the United States Capitol where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border," Abbott said.

He noted that cities along the Texas-Mexico border have bused migrants to San Antonio.

"So I said I got a better idea. As opposed to busing these people to San Antonio, let's continue the ride all the way to Washington D.C.," Abbott said.

The first location where migrants will be dropped off is the U.S. Capitol, officials said.

W. Nim Kidd, chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, said his agency will "use as many buses as we need" to follow Abbott's directive. In past emergencies, up to 900 buses have been activated for evacuations, he said.

In addition, Abbott signed an order directing the state Department of Public Safety to conduct "enhanced" inspections of vehicles crossing into the U.S. from Mexico to ensure residents are not put in danger by unsafe vehicles or unsafe drivers.

He also announced actions to deter illegal immigration, such as using razor wire in low-water crossings. This week, the Texas National Guard will begin the first phase of "mass migration" rehearsals in preparation for a potential influx of migrants at the border, officials said.

"If you're a caravan organizer and you think you're going to overwhelm or overrun a port of entry, we'll be there waiting for you," said Maj. General Thomas Suelzer, the Texas National Guard adjutant general.

Areas along the Texas-Mexico border used heavily by human smugglers will also see increased lighting at night, officials said. The actions announced Wednesday will be funded by local taxpayers.

"Securing the border does not come cheap," Abbott said. "Securing the border would cost Texas nothing if the federal government was doing its job, but because Joe Biden is not securing the border, the state of Texas is having to step up and spend Texas taxpayer money doing the federal government's job."

The plan comes weeks before Title 42 is slated to expire on May 23. The Trump-era health order has been used to expel migrants at the southern border since the COVID-19 pandemic.

But DC city officials will likely just register them to vote and give them $$$$ to live on.

Great way to drive the Illegal open border message home.
But will the media cover it as it develops?
Or will it be handled low low key like the DC Truck Protest?

Either way, DC city officials will likely just register them to vote
and give them $$$$ to live on.

QUESTION: Will the other DC minority inhabitants mimic their NYC
brethren in how they mistreat and abuse other minorities?

India-Pakistan
Pakistan condemns burning, vandalisation of Muslims' houses by 'Hindu zealots' in India's Rajasthan
[Dawn] Pakistain strongly condemned on Tuesday the "senseless vandalisation and burning of more than 40 houses of" the Moslem community in the Karauli area of India's Rajasthan state by "Hindu zealots" during recent communal festivities, a statement issued by the Foreign Office said.

According to Indian publication The Wire, the festivities broke out on April 2 "after stones were pelted at a cycle of violence rally taken out to celebrate the Hindu new year, prompting authorities to clamp a curfew, suspend the internet and deploy 600 police personnel".

Around 35 people were maimed in the violence and 46 people were initially taken into custody by police for interrogation, a report by NDTV said, adding that a case was registered against 13 people. Later, the report said, police arrested another 33 people for violating the curfew order.

The reports said houses and shops were set on fire during the episode but did not confirm the number of properties that were damaged.

However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
in its condemnation, Pakistain said over 40 properties belonging to the Moslem community were set ablaze and vandalised by "radical Hindu zealots belonging to the BJP-RSS (Bharatiya Janata Party-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) dispensation with the connivance of local security authorities" during the festivities.

"Equally alarming is the apathy of state machinery which wantonly looked the other way and failed in its basic duty of protecting the lives and properties of its citizens," the statement said, adding that regretfully, minorities in India, especially Moslems continued to live under fear and intimidation.

"The BJP-RSS combine has enabled [the] perpetration of senseless violence against minorities as part of its ’Hindutva’ agenda marked by hate and majoritarianism," the statement read.

It added that recent history was replete with traumatic instances that reflected the current Indian regime’s deep-seated animosity against Moslems in the country.

"Deafening silence of the BJP leadership and absence of discernible action against ’Hindutva’ proponents must ring alarm bells across the international community. Rather than relenting in their hostilities against Moslems, the BJP-RSS activists have intensified the atrocities" the statement said.

In this connection, the FO cited the example of Yati Narsinghan, an infamous Haridwar priest, once again "brazenly" calling upon Hindus on April 3 to take up arms against Moslems.

"Pakistain calls upon the international community to take immediate notice of the worrying level of Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
in India and prevail upon Indian authorities to prevent systematic human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
violations against minorities, particularly Moslems, and take effective steps to ensure the safety, security and well-being of all minorities in India," the statement read.

Terror suspect with explosive device arrested in overnight West Bank raid, police say
[IsraelTimes] Police say undercover officers arrested a terror suspect in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank at dawn.

During the arrest, an bomb was found hidden in the suspect’s scooter near his home, police say.

The Paleostinian man has been taken to the Shin Bet security agency for further questioning.

The arrest comes as part of Operation Breakwater — targeting individuals suspected of planning future attacks, as well as some thought to be tied to recent deadly attacks in Israel.

Iraq
Three Katyusha rockets fell near an oil refinery, northwest of Erbil

Three Katyusha rockets fell on Wednesday evening near an oil refinery in an area northwest of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, without causing any casualties.

"The sounds of explosions caused by the fall of the missiles were clearly heard," a number of residents of Kurkusk camp for Syrian refugees told North Press.

The three missiles went kaboom! about ten kilometers away from the Syrian refugee camp, according to witnesses in the camp.

The Counter-Terrorism Service said in a press statement that the missiles fell near an oil refinery between Khabat district and Kurkusk district, without causing any casualties.

No party has grabbed credit for the attack so far. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
observers suggest link it to the previous Iranian attack on Erbil, last month.
Rudaw adds:
A number of Katyusha rockets landed in the Khabat district of Erbil province late Wednesday without causing any casualties, a local official told Rudaw, fired from Nineveh province into the vicinity of Kawergosk oil refinery.

Ahmed Nabi, mayor of Kawergosk, which borders Khabat, told Rudaw that a number of Katyusha rockets targeted Khabat, which is situated to the west of Erbil in the direction of Mosul.

The Kurdistan Region’s Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) confirmed the attack, saying three rockets were "launched from the vicinity of Hamdaniya two-side in Khazir Front towards Erbil city." The Iran-linked Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi) have a strong presence in Hamdaniya.

The CTD added that the rockets hit near the oil refinery, noting that the attack has not caused any casualties or material damage. Kawergosk oil refinery is one of the largest refineries in the Kurdistan Region and is operated by the Iraqi-Kurdish oil company KAR Group, the owner of whom's residence was targeted by Iranian missiles last month.

It is not yet clear why the rockets were launched nor who did it. Last month, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for a missile attack on Erbil which caused extensive damage. At least four of the missiles landed on a property belonging to the CEO and founder of KAR Group, Baz Karim Barzinji in the early hours of March 13.

Why Putin is Turning Russia into a Chinese Client State, and How to Stop It
Oleksandr Danylyuk
16 March 2022

[RUSI] The only option to end the war and to prevent Russia from coming under greater control by China is the removal of Putin’s regime.

By deciding to attack Ukraine, Vladimir Putin has destroyed the Russian Federation as it existed before. Obviously, Moscow has no chance of winning this war. The consequences could be either the transformation of Russia into an isolated police-counterintelligence dictatorship completely dependent on Chinese support, or the removal of Putin and his inner circle from power, with further democratisation and growing cooperation with Ukraine and the West based on the strict observance of international law. It is worth noting that only the second option would allow Russia to retain its sovereignty and avoid becoming a resource colony of China. Hence, regime change is a task not only for the West, but also for those Russian elites who still retain some vestiges of patriotism.

The boosting of Chinese influence in Russia — made even clearer by the recent Russian appeals to China for help with munitions, food rations for Russian troops and broader financial support — is not an accident, but a conscious step that Putin logically chose before the invasion. Putin's rapprochement with Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, one of China's main lobbyists in the Kremlin; the use of businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin's network (including the Wagner Group and political technologists) in China's interests in Africa; and Rosneft and Gazprom’s reorientation to China clearly indicated this. The disclosure that Russia was the largest consumer of Chinese ’secret loans’ in 2010—2017 suggests that the foundations of this influence began to be laid immediately after Putin came to power.

Putin — who just a year ago conducted a brilliant operation to sever Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's ties with the West, effectively ending Belarus' state sovereignty and bringing it under Russian external control — must surely have realised that the war in Ukraine would put Russia in the same position. Putin, Shoigu, Nikolai Patrushev and other hawks not only accepted, but actively sought such consequences. Just as Lukashenko did with Moscow, Putin and his entourage signed an agreement with Beijing to surrender Russia’s national sovereignty in exchange for maintaining their regime. This agreement is already being implemented, with China buying stakes in Russian state-owned corporations. At the same time, Russia is clearly taking on the role of a raw material appendage, as Chinese support is limited and does not apply, for example, to the supply of spare parts for Russian aircraft.

A quick end to the war in Ukraine is not likely in this scenario. Putin needs the war to justify the final curtailment of all freedoms in Russia, the establishment of total censorship, and the expulsion of all dissenters. The war consolidates society around the regime and explains the difficult socio-economic situation. The Kremlin has already begun to position the war in Ukraine as one of self-defence against NATO. In the military dimension, this will mean a gradual curtailment of ground operations and a focus on missile and air strikes against civilian infrastructure, similar in nature to Bashar al-Assad's actions in Syria.

The only alternative to end the war is to remove Putin and his inner circle from power. Undoubtedly, this must be done by Russians themselves, because otherwise, such a change of regime will not be recognised by Russian society and may lead to undesirable consequences. Due to the authoritarian nature of the Russian regime, there are only two ways to remove it: revolution or coup. Given Putin's willingness to use weapons against his own people, and the need for public support for regime change, a combination of mass protests and a military coup would be the best option.

One of the threats to this option is an imitation — possibly carried out by the FSB — which, despite removing Putin and his entourage personally, would still allow the system to survive, much as it did after 1991. Given the fact that regime change in Russia must be carried out by Russian citizens and perceived as an internal cleansing, Ukraine and the West should focus on creating the public sentiment conducive to such a change, informing both the general public and elites about the establishment of de facto Chinese external control over Russia.

Dale,

Let me respectfully disagree with you. Putin would be far from the first despot to think he could save his own hide by inviting in somebody to help him.

The Chinese know how to play a long game, and they have incredible amounts of money to play it with, a good chunk of which we give them. When the truth about the Special Operation finally sinks into the Russians as their economy crashes around their ears, Putin's going to need - to paraphrase an old saying - money, guns, and goons. The Chinese have all three, and I firmly believe Putin's capable of taking the bait.

I hope I'm wrong; I hope he slips in the shower and falls on several 9mm rounds. But I fear he will try every trick in the book so long as he can keep that corner office in the Spassky Tower.

#8  Dale,

One example from classical antiquity: Vortigern inviting in Hengist and Horsa. How did that work out?

(And don't even get started with Constantinople and the Normans. Or how they used the Venetians to help defend against the Normans when their relationship went bad. Or what the Venetians ultimately did once they were betrayed in kind.)

Putin was apparently anxious enough about China's support to delay the invasion until the Olympics was done. Then their offensive in the North got completely stalled because the frozen ground thawed for a while in the beginning of March.

Of course now they're saying "Oh, that was a _feint_ we threw thousands of soldiers and a 40 mile long convoy away on..."

Which brings up another thing.... if I had 200 billion dollars in the bank, _personally_, I'd buy much better tires for my Army. I'd splurge on Michelins.

#10  There are many who see the Russian underperformance as good for China.

There are many reasons why China is probably unhappy with this underperformance.

- some Chinese military equipment are copies of Russian equipment and thus may perform as badly in a hot conflict

- the price of oil, which the Chinese import a lot, has been driven sky high

- the price of various food products the Chinese import is also being driven way up

3 Palestinians detained in Old City, one of whom was found with knife
[IsraelTimes] Police say officers detained three Paleostinians from Nablus who were illegally in Israel, one of whom was carrying a knife.

The officers questioned the three men, all in their 20s, in Jerusalem’s Old City, during which a knife fell from the person of one of the suspects, police say.

The men have been taken to a local cop shoppe to be questioned. Police did not say if they were suspected of planning an attack.

Paleostinians from the West Bank must obtain a special permit to enter Israel, including Jerusalem. During upcoming Ramadan prayers on Friday, Israel has eased these restrictions to allow children, women, and some men to freely visit the Temple Mount.

Mass surrender of soldiers in Mariupol scared Zelenskiy
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Chervonec] Ukrainian TG channels say that the surrender of the remnants of the 503rd Marine Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine turned out to be an unpleasant surprise for Zelenskiy

His administration demanded to urgently start an information campaign that this was stuffing and no one surrendered, and the video of the Russians was staged.

The purpose of such "refutations" is to bring down the negative. The scheme is identical to the one that was with the prisoners of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Zmeiny Island, when the Russians showed that all the border guards were captured and alive, and our General Staff accused the Russians of lying and talked about the "heroic defense" of the island, as a result of which all its defenders allegedly died . However, after weeks, when the information space became clogged with new events, the three "quietly" acknowledged the fact that the soldiers were alive and exchanged them.

Denying reality with the help of lies traditional for the Ukrainian side, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is trying to prevent the domino principle with surrender, because all Ukrainian media show and convince the public that terrible torture and bullying is in Russian captivity (there is no video of the facts, except for the statement of the UkroGeneral Staff), but this mass surrender of soldiers undermines the morale of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and can drag other Ukrainian soldiers into captivity in other directions.
