German Insurer Warns: 'More Vaccine Side Effects Than Previously Known'
[SHTF] A board member of German insurer BKK ProVita recently had analyzed the data of millions of insured individuals of the BKK group. The results conclude that the number of COVID-19 "vaccine" side effects is much higher than is being reported by the German federal agency and medical regulatory body, the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI).

Fake DHS Agents - More details
Iranian link and the shocking ineptitude of the Secret Service. It took the US Postal Service to reveal the phony DHS agents.
[TabletMagazine] Was the Infiltration of the Secret Service Part of an Iranian Plot to Kill John Bolton? Iran’s attempts to avenge the killing of Qassem Soleimani are another inconvenient truth for the Biden administration’s nuclear negotiators

Recently released court filings and press reports suggest that the two men apprehended for impersonating federal agents last week in Washington, D.C., might have been part of an Iranian assassination team whose mission was to kill former high-ranking U.S. officials. Yet even as the Biden administration became aware of a possible Iranian plot to kill Americans on American soil—an act of war—White House aides continued to negotiate the restoration of the Iran nuclear deal while seeking to accommodate the clerical regime’s thirst for revenge against former Trump administration officials: U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Special Envoy for Iran Brian Hook, and National Security Advisor John Bolton.

According to media reports, the two men, Arian Taherzadeh and Haider Ali, are U.S. citizens. The latter told witnesses he had connections to Pakistani intelligence, and early reports from The New York Times, NBC, Associated Press, and other news sources seemed to make a point of not mentioning any possible link to Iran, despite at least one of the men having visas to visit that country.

Unsurprisingly, both men are now being actively investigated for possible ties to Iranian spy services, according to CBS News. Ali reportedly visited Iran twice in recent years.

Clearly, the two men enjoyed the financial and logistical support of a well-funded organization that supplied them with arms, electronic devices, and cash, which they used to infiltrate and compromise U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

The nature of Taherzadeh and Ali’s activities in Washington, D.C., is certainly suggestive of an intention to infiltrate the U.S. Secret Service. Starting in February 2020, according to the affadavit filed in support of the arrest warrants, they worked out of a building in the southeast quadrant of Washington, D.C., in the fashionable Navy Yard district that is home to federal agents, congressional aides, and other government employees. Falsely representing themselves as agents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the two men provided Secret Service agents—including agents connected to President Joe Biden’s security detail—as well as a DHS employee with rent-free apartments each worth more than $40,000 per year. According to the April 5th arrest warrant, they provided Secret Service agents with iPhones, surveillance systems, a drone, a flat-screen television, a generator, and what they said were “official government vehicles.” They also proposed buying an assault rifle for a Secret Service agent assigned to First Lady Jill Biden.

It seems odd that these actions barely raised the suspicions of the numerous federal agents living in the building. Taherzadeh told one DHS employee in the building that he had a list of all of the federal agents in the apartment complex, along with codes to the elevators that gave him access to every floor, and surveillance footage from around the building. After the DHS employee tried to verify that the two men worked for the agency by searching internal DHS databases, Taherzadeh said that his name was redacted due to his undercover status. But as the DHS employee might have known, had Taherzadeh really been working undercover, it’s unlikely he would’ve identified himself as an undercover agent—or shown building residents his tactical gear, surveillance equipment, and a high-powered telescope, as well as a handgun he claimed had been issued by a U.S. agency. He also told neighbors he and Ali could access data from the cell phones of everyone who lived in the building.

Taherzadeh and Ali’s stunning imposture was finally revealed by a U.S. Postal Service inspector who was investigating an attack on a postal carrier in the Navy Yard building and was told by residents that the two men might have witnessed the assault. The inspector interviewed Taherzadeh and Ali, who identified themselves as federal agents who had been deputized by the city government of Washington, D.C., as “special police.” The inspector also learned that the two men had given gifts to Secret Service agents. He then passed the information on to the FBI, which arrested the two men.

How is it possible that in a building full of federal law enforcement agents, it took a postal service inspector to uncover the two men? After all, press reports have suggested for months that the FBI and U.S. intelligence agencies are aware of active foreign plots against U.S. officials. In particular, the Iranians are intent on taking revenge for the targeted assassination of Qassem Soleiman, the onetime chief of the Quds Force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ external operations unit, who was second in command only to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The Iranians have repeatedly threatened the three former Trump officials—Pompeo, Hook, and Bolton—by name in their own media. In a recent documentary, a former Iranian official, Seyed Hossein Mousavian, boasted that the Iranian regime’s threats to murder Hook have terrorized Hook’s family. “I went to America, and an American told me that Brian Hook’s wife can’t sleep. She cries and trembles, she told Brian, ‘They’ll kill you,’ since Hook was a partner in the death of Haj Qassem [Soleimani]. That’s how much they were trembling,” said Moussavian. Bizarrely, Moussavian holds a teaching post at Princeton University, which is apparently okay with faculty who use the university’s name and platform to amplify and celebrate murder threats by foreign governments against U.S. diplomats.

Because Pompeo and Hook are former State Department employees, their security is provided by the Diplomatic Security Service. Bolton worked in the White House, so his protective detail is provided by the Secret Service—the target of the penetration effort by Taherzadeh and Ali.

Early last month, the Washington Examiner reported that U.S. intelligence services had become aware that “at least two Iranians belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards’ covert-action Quds Force have been plotting to assassinate” Bolton, and a full-time Secret Service protective detail was assigned to him earlier this year or late in 2021. When emailed by Tablet, Bolton declined to comment on the arrests of Ali and Taherzadeh.

This is not the first time the Iranians have plotted to kill their enemies in the U.S. capital. In September 2011, U.S. law enforcement arrested Manssor Arbabsiar, an Iranian-born naturalized U.S. citizen who, together with Iran-based Quds Force officers, had plotted to kill Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States Adel al-Jubeir at a Washington restaurant and subsequently bomb the Saudi and Israeli embassies.

At the time, President Barack Obama said that Iran “will pay a price” for plotting terror attacks that were likely to have killed a huge number of people in the U.S. capital. Instead, the Obama administration legalized Iran’s nuclear weapons program when it agreed to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in July 2015.

The Biden administration is now negotiating to reenter the deal that the Trump administration withdrew from in May 2018. Despite some recent hand-wringing, it seems unlikely that Iran’s efforts to kill Americans will derail Biden’s negotiators. The Obama team eagerly embraced the Iranian nuclear program while ignoring Tehran’s terror plots and will almost certainly do so again under Biden. Robert Malley, the key negotiator for Obama’s Middle East team, now serves as Biden’s Iran envoy.

Apparently, Malley’s negotiating team tried to talk Iran out of killing Americans who served in government—but failed. According to Malley’s former deputy at the International Crisis Group, Ali Vaez, “It is politically impossible for the Iranians to publicly close the file on taking revenge for Soleimani. That proposal has been rejected by the Iranians. Iran has come up with a counterproposal that the US is now considering.”

In other words, rather than walking away from the deal with a terror state that is actively trying to murder former U.S. officials, the Biden administration has been trying to arrive at a formula that licenses Iranian vengeance against its predecessors in government. As depraved as that may sound to ordinary Americans, it is the reality that U.S. negotiators have brought about in their decade-long attempt to give international legitimacy, and U.S. protection, to Iran’s nuclear program.

#2  To be fair, it is my understanding that Messrs Taherzadeh and Ali also did not pay for the apartments they were giving to their Secret Service pals. The building owner was patriotically footing the bill for all of them.

South Carolina death row inmate who killed a store clerk in 1999 elects to be executed by three-person firing squad rather than the electric chair
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Richard Bernard Moore, 57, is the also first state prisoner to face the choice of execution methods after a law went into effect last year

  • The law made electrocution the default and gave inmates the option to face three prison workers with rifles instead

  • Moore has spent more than two decades on death row after being convicted of the 1999 killing of convenience store clerk James Mahoney in Spartanburg

  • If executed as scheduled on April 29, he would be the first person put to death in the state since 2011 and fourth nationwide to die by firing squad in over 50 years

  • Only three executions in the United States have been carried out by firing squad since 1976

  • The new law was prompted by the decade-long break in executions, which officials attribute to an inability to procure drugs needed for lethal injections

Do you pass the waist ratio test? Forget your weight or BMI, there's a new magic formula scientists say really does reveal how healthy you are
  • A new set of guidelines say to keep your waistline less than half of your height

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Removing Russia from the U.N. Security Council is a punishment that would matter
[Rob Adolph - Tampa Bay Times] The United Nations just voted Russia off the Human Rights Council. Embattled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants much more from the international body, and who can blame him? Serious war crimes have been committed by the Moscow regime.

The U.S. and E.U. have decided to add more layers of increasingly harsh economic and financial sanctions against Russia and its leadership — official and unofficial — following the brutal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. Previous sanctions have not worked. New sanctions will probably not work either, at least not in the near term. Short of combat, how can the international community further punish the regime in Moscow in ways that will have genuine impact? It can remove Russia from its permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council.

Why does Vladimir Putin enjoy a seat? There is only one answer: The late Soviet Union possessed a huge arsenal of atomic weapons. Although Russia contains a significant natural resource base, the nation is not a global leader in technology, innovation, finance, manufacture or any other commercial or financial enterprise. Russia is by most accounts a massively under-developed kleptocracy.

Reckless dictators like Putin, no matter how many nuclear missiles they possess, should be excluded from the globe’s most exclusive nation-state club. Permanent Security Council members that violate international law and norms of conduct by invading another member state without just cause should be expelled from what today is called "The Big Five" — the U.S., U.K., France, China and Russia.

Robert Bruce Adolph is a former US Army Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel and United Nations Chief Security Advisor, who holds graduate degrees in both international affairs and national security studies and strategy. His previously published works have appeared in nearly every US military publication of note. Most recently, he penned the commentary series "Dispatch from Rome" for the Military Times. Adolph also recently published the book entitled "Surviving the United Nations: The Unexpected Challenge."

#1  Besoeker, thanks for bringing this to my attention.

This guy is a moron. The Security Council seat for Russia is there for Russia to protect its interests without killing millions of people. Believe me, Russia will protect their interests even if it means killing a bunch of US Special forces officers to do it.

Probably the reason this author is alive to write this tripe is that Russia/Soviet Union was able to peacefully protect its interests at the UN during his service rather than killing him and his unit.

Colorado shooting suspect incompetent to stand trial, judge says
[FoxNews] A judge ruled Friday that a man charged with killing 10 people at a Colorado supermarket last year is still mentally incompetent to stand trial, further delaying court proceedings in the case.

The prosecution of Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa,
...also in our archives as Ahmad Alissa, the ISIS-curious, Trump-hating, untreated paranoid schizophrenic known wolf whose aggressive, infidel-hating Syrian refugee family did not bother to stop him from getting guns and running amok in a Jewish grocery store just before Passover. Mr. Al Issa would have preferred to shoot up a Trump rally the previous year, but the Covid shutdown meant the scheduled rallies were cancelled...
22, has been on hold since December, when Judge Ingrid Bakke ruled that he was mentally incompetent — unable to understand legal proceedings and work with his lawyers to defend himself.

The ruling came nearly a month after Boulder, the home of the University of Colorado, marked the first anniversary of the attack that killed workers, customers and a police officer who rushed inside the store. Alissa was not in court for Friday’s hearing.

Few details have been released about Alissa’s condition. Reports on his evaluations are not available to the public, but a court filing discussing one of the evaluations last year said he had been provisionally diagnosed with an unspecified mental health condition that limits his ability to "meaningfully converse with others."

In December, one of Alissa’s attorneys, Kathryn Herold, said her client has a "serious" mental illness but did not elaborate. At the time, District Attorney Michael Dougherty said Alissa had "deteriorated" over the previous months while being held in jail.

Investigators have not released any information about why they believe Alissa launched the attack or why he may have targeted the supermarket. He lived in the neighboring suburb of Arvada, where authorities say he passed a background check to legally buy the Ruger AR-556 pistol he allegedly used six days before the shooting.

Competency is a different legal issue than a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, which involves whether someone’s mental health prevented them from understanding right from wrong at the time a crime was committed.

The judge set a July 21 hearing to again evaluate Alissa’s competency to stand trial.

The March 22, 2021, attack at a King Soopers grocery shocked a state that has seen its share of mass shootings, including the 1999 Columbine High School massacre and the 2012 Aurora movie theater shooting.

Boulder police Officer Eric Talley, a 51-year-old father of seven, was shot and killed while rushing into the store with an initial team of police officers. The nine others killed inside and outside the supermarket were Denny Stong, Neven Stanisic, Rikki Olds, Tralona Bartkowiak, Teri Leiker, Suzanne Fountain, Kevin Mahoney, Lynn Murray and Jody Waters.

Stong, Olds and Leiker worked at the supermarket.

Man, 21, arrested a week after 3 killed at Georgia gun range
[ABC] GRANTVILLE, Ga. -- A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal armed robbery at a Georgia gun range that left three members of a family dead last week.

Jacob Christian Muse, of College Park, is charged with three counts of malice murder, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a news release Friday.

When Grantville officers arrived at the scene of Lock Stock & Barrel Shooting Range on the night of April 8, they discovered the bodies of the gun range's owner, along with his wife and grandson. The victims were identified as Thomas Hawk, 75; Evelyn Hawk, 75; and Luke Hawk, 17.

Investigators said that as many as 40 guns and the range’s surveillance camera were also stolen.

The shooting range is in rural Coweta County, about 50 miles (about 80 kilometers) southwest of Atlanta.

Caribbean-Latin America
The Bay of Pigs: The Sickening Truth Part II, The Battle is Joined
[Townhall] "They fought like Tigers," wrote a CIA officer who helped train the Cuban freedom-fighters who landed at The Bay of Pigs 61 years ago this week... "But their fight was doomed before the first man hit the beach."

That CIA man, Grayston Lynch, knew something about fighting -- and about long odds. He carried scars from Omaha Beach, The Battle of the Bulge and Korea's Heartbreak Ridge. But in those battles, Lynch and his band of brothers could count on the support of their own chief executive.

At the Bay of Pigs, Lynch and his band of Cuban brothers learned -- first in speechless shock and finally in burning rage -- that their most powerful enemies were not Castro's Soviet-armed and led soldiers massing in Santa Clara, Cuba, but the Ivy League's Best and Brightest dithering in Washington.

Lynch trained, in his own words, ''brave boys most of whom had never before fired a shot in anger." Short on battle experience, yes, but they fairly burst with what Bonaparte and George Patton valued most in a soldier -- morale. They'd seen the face of Castro/Communism point-blank: stealing, lying, jailing, poisoning minds, murdering.

They'd heard the chilling "Fuego!" as Castro and Che's firing squads murdered thousands of brave countrymen. More importantly, they heard the "Viva Cuba Libre!" from the bound and blindfolded patriots, right before the bullets ripped them apart. They set their jaws and resolved to smash this murderous barbarism that was ravaging their homeland. And they went at it with a vengeance.

The New York subway attack is horrifying. But more police power is not the answer
[Guardian] On n Wednesday, police finally arrested Frank James, the man accused of shooting up a crowded subway train in New York City, wounding 10. James, strangely, had called in the tip himself, telling police he was at a Manhattan McDonald’s. Other New Yorkers spotted the subway shooter too, assisting the police.

Eric Adams, the New York City mayor, touted the arrest as another victory for the New York police department and called, once more, for increased surveillance on the subways. "We believe we have a technology that we can use in the subway system that many passengers are not even going to be aware that they are walking past a device that could detect weapons, and we are excited about the possibilities and I’m not going to leave any legal technology off the table when it comes down to keeping New Yorkers safe," Adams said on MSNBC.

A former police captain, Adams was elected mayor last year on a promise to crack down on crime. He was able to outflank more liberal rivals in the Democratic primary as public safety became a top issue for voters. Since taking office, he has visited numerous crime scenes and vowed, at various points, to reintroduce tougher policing practices.

Progressives are wrong to simply mock police for taking 30 hours to apprehend James or relying on tips to find him — that’s how policing usually works. Some online commentators have argued that the shooting proves police can’t prevent any crime because Adams had already dispatched more cops to the subways and James was still able to detonate a smoke bomb and unload his gun on passengers. Police can deter crime and most working-class New Yorkers want them to catch criminals and solve crimes.

Cochise County Australian abseiling goes badly
[Breitbart] Authorities in Arizona are probing the death of a woman who apparently got tangled upside-down on a border fence this week.

A 32-year-old woman from Mexico tried to climb the border fence near Douglas, Arizona, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a prepared statement.

Sheriff’s deputies and Border Patrol responded to the scene late on April 11 shortly after receiving a call from Mexican counterparts. They found a woman who had died after spending "a considerable amount of time" upside-down hanging from the fence.

According to authorities, the woman was using a rappelling harness to climb from the Mexican-facing side. At the top, her foot became ensnared as she was trying to climb down to the U.S. side. Authorities rushed the woman to a local hospital where she "was declared deceased." Since the incident, authorities have been in communication with the Mexican Consulate.

"These types of incidents are not political, they are humanitarian realities that someone has lost a loved one in a senseless tragedy," Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels said in a statement." We have to do better in finding solutions to the challenges facing our border, and we have to do it for the right reasons."

Economy
California's Vanished Dream, by the Numbers
[Real Clear Investigations] Even today amid a mounting exodus among those who can afford it, and with its appeal diminished to businesses and newcomers, California, legendary state of American dreams, continues to inspire optimism among progressive boosters.

Laura Tyson, the longtime Democratic economist now at the University of California at Berkeley, praises the state for creating "the way forward" to a more enlightened "market capitalism." Like-minded analysts tout Silicon Valley’s massive wealth generation as evidence of progressivism’s promise. The Los Angeles Times suggested approvingly that the Biden administration’s goal is to "make America California again." And, despite dark prospects in November’s midterm elections, the President and his party still seem intent on proving it.

But most Californians, according to recent surveys, see things differently. They point to rising poverty and inequality, believe the state is in recession and that it is headed in the wrong direction. Parting with the state’s cheerleaders, the New York Times’ Ezra Klein, a reliable progressive and native Californian, says the Golden State’s failures are "making liberals squirm."

#3  The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARs) were massively expanded after c.f. major corruption in Naval procurements circa the 80s. They impose a significantly complex process that entails identifying requirements, validating them, issuing a formal request for proposals, evaluating the proposals, negotiating, and contract issuance. Then the actual procurement begins. Lots of people earn lots of certifications authorizing them to carry out various steps / roles in the process. (Mine is SPRDE Level 3 from a decade ago FWIW. A search on that will bring up more than you want to know about the whole procurement mess.)

Congress has divided the DOD budget into major line items, with detailed sub-categories. Line 6 in the DOD budget is for RDT&E, the stages for meeting operational needs with tech. 6.1 is basic research, 6.2 is early applied R&D, and so on through procurment, validation, and test / deployment of items, etc.

It's illegal to spend money from one sub-line to another. Only Congress can do that.

So one issue that arises WRT off the shelf tech is, what line item must be used to fund this. Another is, what are the formally validated requirements for it? How will the off the shelf item be validated WRT meeting those requirements?

Systems engineers get involved in most cases because the tech item doesn't stand / work alone, so interactions with larger systems must be defined and validated. And usually that means across the service branches.

It's a frigging mess. Palantir challenged the long, slow, bumbling attempt at an integrated Army info sys by providing analysts with a flexible way to assemble tactical level data / intel, share observations / questions, etc. The brass hated it. The boots on the ground analysts were enthusiastic users.

Palantir founder Peter Thiel previously had co-founded PayPal with ... Elon Musk. Musk is issuing a similar challenge to the Beltway swamp with SpaceX.

You will note where those two align WRT markets, free speech, etc.

#6  So, here is the Defense Acquisition University (yes, there's such a thing) page on SPRDE certification levels for Science & Technology Mgmt, the sub-category of SPRDE that I had to be certified in to manage a DOD research grant program and to serve as the technical rep for the contracting officer on a contract.

It was the longest 2 years of my life.

We're talking many years of time and money spent in accruing certs (for guvvies) and equivalents for contractor personnel to learn their way around the maze. Compare the results at Boeing of late with the agile design / build / test / redesign method at SpaceX to decide if the investment of taxpayer dollars is still cost beneficial.

Friday night suspected of participating in rioting. The unrest included attempts to block roads in the northern Arab town and saw protesters fire fireworks and hurl stones at cops. The seven suspects were taken for questioning. Three of them are minors.

Early Friday saw massive unrest in Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Dozens of young people began marching in the area before dawn on Friday. Some bore the Paleostinian flag, while others carried green banners associated with the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group, according to police. The marchers threw stones and set off fireworks, while stockpiling rocks and other objects to prepare for further festivities.

Thousands of Paleostinians gathered at the compound known to Jews as the Temple Mount, due to reports of plans by Jewish gunnies to perform a Passover animal sacrifice at the site.

Israeli authorities insisted that they would not allow such a ceremony to take place and arrested several suspects on Thursday and Friday in order to ensure as much.

Police said they waited for morning prayers to end before entering the Temple Mount to disperse the rioters, and that some of them threw stones at the Western Wall below. Some Paleostinians barricaded themselves inside the al-Aqsa Mosque, hurling stones toward officers. Three officers were lightly hurt after being pelted with stones, two of whom required medical treatment.

The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy emergency group reported 158 people were hurt in the festivities. It said the vast majority were treated at East Jerusalem’s al-Makassed Hospital or at a field hospital set up by medics, without giving details on the nature of the injuries. In footage from the police raid circulated on social media, officers could be seen hitting some Paleostinians with clubs for no apparent reason.

A police source quoted by the Kan public broadcaster said some 400 people were arrested.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett held a situational assessment with police chiefs on Friday morning, during which he said security forces were "working to calm tensions on the Temple Mount as well as throughout Israel, and we are preparing for any scenario," according to a statement from his office.

Later in the day, Friday afternoon prayers concluded without incident.

But police conduct against the protesters enraged Israel’s Mideast neighbors, with Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
all issuing statements of fierce condemnation.

The UN, EU and the US were all more measured in their responses, instead focusing on calling for calm and urging the parties to act with restraint.

At 4 p.m. on Friday, the IDF’s closure of the West Bank and Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip for Paleostinians went into effect. The policy is standard for holidays, but the Defense Ministry said it would reevaluate the situation on Saturday evening, possibly lifting the lockdown then instead of maintaining it for the entire week-long holiday.

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. [DW] The last surviving alleged attacker, Salah A., said he hoped his apology would help the relatives of those killed. One hundred and thirty people were killed in the atrocities claimed by the "Islamic State" armed group.

Salah A.
... Salah Abdeslam, the Moroccan-French boy who ran with all the other petty criminals in the notoriously Salafist Molenbeek neighbourhood until they grew up to transfer that sense of entitlement to membership in ISIS. Britain
British MP resigns after sex assault conviction
[Dawn] The UK’s ruling Conservative Party faces a tough by-election test after former MP Imran Ahmad Khan quit parliament on Thursday following his conviction for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy.

Khan, 47, who represents the northern English city of Wakefield, said he would resign in order to "focus entirely on clearing my name".

"While legal proceedings are ongoing, I do not believe that it would ordinarily be appropriate to resign," he wrote on Twitter. "However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
owing to long delays in the legal process, my constituents have already been without visible parliamentary representation for a year.

"Consequently I am resigning as MP for Wakefield and withdrawing from political life." A jury found Khan, who has been kicked out of the Conservative Party, guilty of sexually assaulting the boy after forcing him to drink gin at a party in 2008.

The unnamed victim told the court he was left feeling "scared, vulnerable and numb" and that Khan applied "slow caressing" to his legs. Khan said he only touched the teenager’s elbow after he became upset during a conversation about his "confused sexuality".

The victim said he approached the Conservative Party press office days ahead of the 2019 election that saw Khan elected to tell them what had happened but "I wasn’t taken very seriously".

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Preparing For WAR: Israel Tests Iron Beam – The Newest Air Defense System
[Israel Unwired] Hamas and Hezbollah have raised the stakes against Israel by shifting focus from rockets to using assassin drones — gifted to them by Iran. In return, Israel has developed the means to stop the drone threat.

The Iron Beam using the latest laser technology, has the ability to knock out the drones and rockets before they do damage.

Why is this important?

In the next war, it is clear that Hezbollah and Hamas will attempt to work together to do maximum damage to Israel and the Jewish State’s infrastructure.

The Iron Beam is the first step to counteracting this threat.

Biden Does It Again — Falsely Claims He Was A 'Full Professor' At Ivy League University
[THEBLUESTATECONSERVATIVE] Another day, another instance of President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The nincompoop who dumped Afghanistan. The copier doesdn't exist that could reelect him....
making stuff up, and another reason for Americans to be mortified. No, folks, this isn’t some sort of nightmare you’re in, one that you can’t wake up from. This is really happening.

During an appearance yesterday at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University in Greensboro, Biden gave a speech about the importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). As is so often the case with the president, he went off-script again and just totally lied about his past.

We all remember when Biden told us that he had been a truck driver in his youth, only to find out that it was a lie. Then there was that time he said his family had almost died in a house fire, and that was also a load of crap. We can also remember when Biden had to drop out of the 1988 presidential race because of plagiarism and lying about his academic record, wrongfully claiming he had graduated near the top of his class at the University of Delaware when in reality he was in the bottom half.

We’re sure to hear the president’s handlers try to clean up this mess later today. We can bet that Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama. A new American success story, under Biden she became spokeswoman for the whole administration, and she was even able to get her sister a job...
or someone else from his communications department will be asked about it, and Psaki or someone else will try to spin this invention as an honest mistake. It wasn’t. Our president is a pathological liar.

The fact is, Joe Biden was given what amounted to a ceremonial position at The University of Pennsylvania in 2017, a title called "Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice Professor." It was one of those cushy jobs that pays a lot.

While he reportedly received a total of $776,527 for the short time he was there, Biden never actually taught a class. In fact, an article in The Daily Pennsylvanian was given the headline, "No one is really sure what Joe Biden will be doing at Penn."

So, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Uralvagonzavod, where the main tank of the Russian Federation T-72 is produced, has faced numerous problems since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, which greatly complicated the production of most types of military equipment.

The plant is forced to look for a solution to financial problems, including requiring 100% prepayment under government contracts. The production of new equipment is being stopped, including the T-90 and T-14 (Armata) tanks. The created "operational headquarters" determined the repair of military equipment damaged in the war with Ukraine as the main direction of work.

16:59 The "LPR" said that Ukrainian troops on Saturday, April 16, could hit Luhansk with Tochka-U - supposedly Kiev calls on citizens to gather for a rally, after which a blow will be struck.

According to him, the "difficult moments" that exist in the common history of the two countries "should be closed - and we will definitely return to them in our relations with a free and independent Ukraine - after the war."

16:33 It's time for Ukraine to prepare for the mass arrests of Russians who openly call for violence against Ukrainians, Podolyak said: "In Russia, various actors who are lost in time are now offering to bomb the center of Kiev as brutally as possible and be sure to destroy civilians. Mass destruction. With maximum destruction. Including President Zelensky. And these are quite specific criminal proceedings."

The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office named, in particular, Medvedev ("always drunk"), Volodin ("the speaker of the parliament that does not exist"), Mironov, Konstantinov ("banal Crimean thief"), and dozens of other politicians and officials - not counting the "traditionally perverse " propagandists.

“It’s enough to put “red” wanted cards on these subjects. For a start. More to come. It’s time for us to really prepare for mass arrests of subjects who every day more and more frankly demand the mass deaths of Ukrainians,” Podolyak said.

16:26 The operational command of Pivden also reports that the Russian military throughout the day randomly fire at residential areas, cultural sites and private enterprises of Nikolaev. 15:50 The Vizar military plant near Kiev was partially destroyed as a result of Russian night strikes, an AFP correspondent reported from the scene. The publication notes that this plant produced Neptune missiles, which probably hit the cruiser Moscow.

15:48 A plan for the forced mobilization of 26,000 "reservists" into the Russian ground forces has been thwarted in ORDLO. According to Ukrainian intelligence, men of military age (18-65 years old) avoid conscription in every possible way. According to preliminary plans, at the expense of the mobilized, 17 rifle regiments were to be completed as part of the combined arms armies of the Southern and Western Military Districts of the Russian Federation. This task has not been completed.

With the personnel, which nevertheless managed to attract, no training or briefing is carried out. They are also supplied with unusable ammunition and weapons.

Representatives of the Russian army, who conduct recruiting, promise to involve "recruits" in the tasks of ensuring control over the occupied territories, guarding roads and military facilities, and improving defense positions. But, as practice shows, those mobilized from ORDLO constitute the nearest reserve to replenish the losses of units directly involved in hostilities against Ukraine. Also, it is their least valuable "resource" that is used to conduct "reconnaissance in force" to identify the positions of Ukrainian defenders.

15:37 US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told European allies that the war in Ukraine could continue until the end of 2022. Two other European officials said they believe fighting in eastern Ukraine could last four to six months before reaching a stalemate, CNN reports.

15:35 40-50,000 people return to Kiev every day, said the first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration Nikolai Povoroznik. According to him, in connection with this, some transport problems arise, since the city was intensively preparing for defense and erected fortifications and checkpoints, which now complicate the movement.

15:26 The border guards reported about the repeated shelling of their positions in the Chernihiv region - in the afternoon there were 12 more mortar attacks. There were no casualties among the border guards and the local population.

15:24 As of April 15, law enforcement officers found the bodies of 900 civilians killed by Russian invaders in the Kiev region , said the head of the regional police Andrey Nebitov.

In Borodianka, the bodies of ten people have been found today, and in total since the beginning of work - 40 dead.

Also, information was received from the National Police that near the village. Nalivaykovka, Buchansky district, two employees of the Fastovsky Distribution Zone, who were driving a car, were blown up, they were hospitalized.

15:13 A "rail war" is unfolding in Russia: successful sabotage of Russian Railways has already taken place in four regions, according to @belzhd_live. It seems the items are running anywhere between 14% to 40+% more depending on the item and IF in stock.

eg.
3/4" Plywood (Exterior) being the highest now at $63+ to $68 a sheet depending on which store.

Up from $32 a sheet back in 2019.

Boston Police uniforms stolen ahead of marathon; FBI, Massachusetts cops offering $5K reward for suspects
[FoxNews] Friday marked nine years since the Boston Marathon Bombing of 2013.

The FBI has joined Massachusetts law enforcement agencies in investigating the theft of Boston Police Department uniforms, which were stolen from a Weymouth business, just weeks before the city’s annual marathon is set to kick off.

Friday marked nine years since the Boston Marathon Bombing of 2013, when three people were killed and more than 260 were hurt. Ahead of Monday’s 126th Boston Marathon, Boston Police Superintendent-In-Chief Greg Long is urging attendees not to hesitate to report someone acting suspicious, even if they are dressed in a uniform.

The Weymouth Police Department announced earlier this week that it was working with the FBI in investigating the theft of several Boston Police Department uniforms that were stolen from a local uniform supply store.

Investigators believe the uniforms were stolen between 3:30 p.m. March 27 and 9:30 a.m. March 28, the department said Wednesday. Authorities are now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading them to their suspects.

Monday will mark the first time the Boston Marathon will be held on its regularly scheduled Patriots Day date following postponements and changes as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Approximately 30,000 people are set to run in the marathon, officials have said.

Long said there was no known credible threat to the race, but said spectators and runners could expect heavy security, bag checks, camera surveillance, police observation points and the presence of officers in plain clothes and in uniform.

#1  So Weymouth police said someone broke into Andrea’s Police and Fire Supply back in Late March and stole 4 uniforms, a leather jacket, and 1 bulletproof vest. NOTE: These NEW uniforms were issued less than a year ago.

SNIDE NOTE:
Beside the marathon, there are also Mid-Term BLOM/ANTI-FArt RIOTS & LOOTING Peaceful Protests & Wealth Redistribution sessions just around the corner.

IF Boston Police, are like most police plans I have seen. They will just add an extra identifier(s) like a special arm ban or extra large Special neck lanyard or Uniform attached ID to assigned staff.

Simple Faraday container

In my case, I use an all Metal Medium size Trash Can with a Rubber sealant sprayed several coats thick (flex-seal) in the interior. Used an Exterior Strap to insure a tight seal. Grounded using a Car Jumper cable to a grounding rod.

Tested it by placing my cell phone in it and tried calling it. The cell phone never rang. Place a AM/FM Battery power radio in it, turned the volume full up and sealed ....No Sound.

Either I have built a soundproof enclosure, or I may have hit on a simple Faraday container with everything purchased at Wally World for under $50.

Local police originally detained the four men on March 31 for illegally entering the state forest when their alleged crime of bestiality was discovered.

“During the investigation, the forest officials found that the accused had allegedly raped a Bengal monitor lizard. Their act was also recorded in a mobile phone of one of the accused persons,” an unnamed Maharashtra Forest official told PTI on April 13.

“We have recovered all the related evidence from the accused and they were granted forest department custody initially, but are out on bail now,” the official added.

“The four accused have been booked under various sections of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972,” Nanasaheb Ladkat, the field director of the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, told reporters on April 13.

I have read that there was a custom of SAS members being granted leave to 'moonlight' on private contracts, such as acting as guards and/or trainers in places in the Middle East like Oman... The understanding was that they weren't supposed to embarrass the Crown while doing so and the contacts/experience they would acquire was seen as a plus if/when the returned to the SAS Regiment later on.

Bread is dearer than life, snipers and catacombs - go and see what Mariupol has become
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
By Dmitry Steshin

[KP] Cooks out of the Environment
After a series of unsuccessful attempts to get out of Mariupol , I, the “Azov” and Vushniks (Ukrainian Armed Forces) retreated back to the industrial zones and to their borders in urban areas. Their room for maneuver is shrinking every day - the industrial zone of the Ilyich Plant is practically cleared, fighting is still going on in the port, but the outcome is clear.

Only the industrial metropolis - Azovstal - is holding on - the military from Russia and the DPR left it "for dessert", collecting all the reptiles in a heap - in one place. But, not all militants want to die in Mariupol...

Yesterday, at the location of our battalion (the location of the DPR battalion "Vostok"), business executives drove a medical van based on the American "Hummer". Two dozen "Azov" people crowded into it, trying to get out of the encirclement, hiding behind a red cross:

- We pierced his wheel, he flew into a ditch, almost turned over, - the Vostok fighter tells me:

- And then they rushed into the loose. But, you see, they were clearly divided into two groups of ten! One immediately went to the industrial zone, back. And the second, we later found out, broke into a house in the private sector. The owner was almost beaten to death, his wife was made a nightmare.

- What for?

- And so that if anything, she said that there was no one in the house. We sat there for several hours, dropped our backpacks, chargers for walkie-talkies, batteries, rations and left for Zaporozhye. We tried to leave.

The city is now blocked for civilians to enter - too many Nazis tried to break out of Mariupol in civilian cars with pieces of sheets on the antennas and door handles. Therefore, the standard question at every checkpoint, to people sitting in such cars: "Is everyone all right?."

The fighter checking the car at the same time carefully peers into the faces of women, trying to read the signal for help. You can only leave after many hours of checking. Illegal "Taxi service" taking people out of Mariupol for a lot of money, withered by itself.

Already at the entrance to Mariupol , we are stopped by a commandant's office patrol. We talked with a young military policeman, who told how THEY leave the almost killed city:

- Do you see, over there, a field with hills? Watching this morning, four bodies are coming. Barely dragging legs ...

It's raining in the Sea of Azov now, and every step on the virgin soil is three kilos of mud on your boots, you can't run. The fighter continues:

- We are also barely crawling through the mud to intercept them. Three, in camouflage, with guns, immediately started running and ran into the abandoned house, left. And the third remained standing, he was a civilian. He says: "Guys, don’t drive in, there is no weapon, I dropped it in Marik, there are no documents, I’m a vushnik, a cook."

The Komendach laughs contagiously, and so do we. The abundance of captured cooks, drivers and signalers is simply amazing! This is the joke of the week. With whom they fought in Mariupol for a month is a mystery. We say goodbye, we wish each other caution and Victory, as is now customary in recent times.

On the Zaporozhye highway, already a few kilometers from Mariupol, there were more cars that “cut down” our secrets. The highway is empty, straight as an arrow, and for some reason the encircled people think that this path from the city is open to them. I was struck by an old "Japanese woman" with a shot windshield. She was decorated with the letters Z from all sides, while losing a sense of proportion. On the hood there is a clumsy inscription from a balloon: “Work brothers!”.

The brothers did their job, no offense. The fighters didn't leave ...

Impact to the Soul
At the Hypermarket at the entrance, there is a familiar picture - thousands of citizens receive humanitarian aid, eat, collect water from watering machines.

People immediately hang on us, they have two questions: “When will all this end?” and “What is there at the front?”. Everything else is strung on the second question: “Is it possible to drive to Zaporozhye?”, “And to Kherson?”, “And to the Crimea?”

We with my friend, military correspondent Vlad Yevtushenko, who is a fighter of the "East," patiently explained. I frown inwardly at a simple thought: “Well, what do you, dear local authorities, hang out in such places on plain paper the daily report of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the People's Militia of the DPR?

Even print and distribute, people will pass from hand to hand! Read aloud! Yes, I'll deliver it myself! I hope they hear me. Because in recent days, in Mariupol , due to electronic warfare (electronic warfare systems), not only cellular communications and television, but even radios do not work: people complained to me, “one hiss, they made antennas, it doesn’t help.”

Stop. And, actually, where are the city authorities? Searching unsuccessfully. We find a few more distribution points for humanitarian aid, which is good. At school No. 53, where a new mayor was elected a week ago, the yard is covered with smoke from bonfires. People have made field kitchens in garbage bins - they have roofs and some sort of walls.

A middle-aged man loosens the ground on the lawn with a rake, will there really be a garden? No, here Death mowed down - crosses are scattered across the lawn. The man does not turn to us, it seems he sees us with his back, says through sobs:

- My wife is dead. Because of you. We ran here with weapons, now you are shooting, what happened? Say hello to your parents.

We are turning around. Vlad's face just tipped over, he says that he hasn't been so nasty in his soul for a long time. For understanding: Vlad from Poltava, went to fight in 2014, was wounded by a tank shell near the Donetsk airport, shrapnel to the temple, eyesight goes down, poor motor skills. Disability was transferred from the 2nd group to the 3rd, not because Vlad got better, so there are fewer problems with the bureaucracy. I didn't see my mother for 8 years. She, as we were advised in our hearts, can’t even say “hello”, her Security Service of Ukraine grazes ...

On Metallurgov Avenue we find the Employment Center. Men in overalls are inserting glass, tomorrow the city administration will start working here - it's almost the Center. On the other side of the avenue, a military excavator roars, a crane hauling broken slabs and dumping them into a truck. A whole block of apartments in a sooty high-rise building collapsed, along with the entrance, from the roof to the very bottom.

I ask the Ministry of Emergency Situations, they say, is everyone preparing the house for reconstruction? Indeed, good news! The rescuer hits me in the very soul, the second time in 15 minutes, so it turns out:

- Brother, what a reconstruction. Two weeks ago, twenty of our Donetsk reservists ran into this house, on the first floor. And the dill (Ukrainian) tank laid down the entrance... So they lie there like that... We'll be poking around for a long time, come tomorrow, we'll get it.

Snipers and God's Work
In the Drama Theater of Mariupol, according to rumors, crushed people are also lying under the rubble. I can't get into it for the second week. Others get in - I don't. I always come at the moment when the battle begins at the theater.

The quarters around are considered a "gray zone," they have long been passed by sappers. And I myself was here - in the neighboring building of the SBU. And then a day passes and in dilapidated houses, suddenly Nazi “troikas” start working: a sniper, a grenade launcher, and a submachine gunner, for cover.

And this time, too, it was not possible to get to the place of the monstrous provocation (the Azovites blew up the Drama Theater, gathering hundreds of people here, and announcing that it had been bombed by Russian aircraft). If we consider everything that is happening in Mariupol as God's providence, then everything was predetermined so that we would save the girl Tatyana, wounded by a sniper. Too many coincidences, they clung to each other.

Prospekt Mira, the architectural axis of the city, rests against this unfortunate Drama Theatre . I drove carefully, the car wobbling between unimaginable iron rubbish from roofs and facades, cut down by fragments of lanterns and hanging wires. The last intersection, the intersection with Nielsen Street, a little lower down this street - the SBU from my last report (on the website kp.ru and in the issue of "KP" for April 11). And then, my grandmother, another heroine of that text, throws herself under the wheels. The one to whom I gave the loaf of bread hidden in the car “in the most extreme case”. She still held my sleeve with a bird's paw, so that I would not run away, would not change my mind about giving her bread. Grandma lives! I lower the window, she screams:

- Rather, the girl is injured! Take me to the hospital, please!

Vlad, a former ambulance paramedic, starts fiddling in a cramped car, unbuttoning the medical package and also shouting:

- Faster! Show the way!

Grandmother runs to the corner of Nielsen Street and freezes, pressed against the wall, does not go further. Everything is clear, the street is being shot through. Waving hand:

- There! There!

He points to the entrance to the courtyard, 20 meters from it, and immediately the end of the house will close us. Trying to get through in one throw, the engine roars, we don't hear the whistle of a bullet, but we can clearly hear the screech of a ricochet from the metal, on the other side of the avenue, already behind us.

Dirty, plague-ridden people in the cellars are waiting for us in the yard. I put a blanket on the back seat, Tatyana is dragged out of the basement, she screams at every step. Above the knee on the thigh is a bloodstain, but the artery and veins are not affected, lucky. Tatyana's manicure is striking, on gray, almost black hands. Another sign of underground life, the only consolation of Mariupol women. Tatyana spent 52 days in this cellar. It began to rain, she went out of the yard, to pick up pieces of metal torn from the roofs - to close the windows ... I ask who will accompany? Tatyana's husband, Igor:

- I have no documents!

The family's documents burned down along with the apartment, and few people understand what a disaster it is in the warring Mariupol. I promise that I will agree with the roadblocks and bring them back - another problem of the city without transport. I still try not to think about the fact that I will have to skip this corner of Prospekt Mira three more times. On the way to the infamous Regional Hospital, Tatyana says that she had a small shop. Father - a retired lieutenant colonel, lives in Rostov. Husband, Igor, a pensioner, a former judge, and he was afraid of document checks in vain. At checkpoints, it is enough to shout “Wounded!” and they wave their hands to us: “Drive faster!”.

"Enemies" and "Ours"
In that same unfortunate hospital, where a month ago, the living were lying in the corridors mixed with the dead , and the corpses were piled in heaps in empty wards, something subtly changed. For the better. Because it doesn't get any worse.

A minute and volunteers in white suits appear. Body armor is hidden underneath. They bring a bloody stretcher, and a couple of minutes later Tatyana is on the operating table. We are all taking a breath. I'm talking to volunteer Alexei. He is from Mariupol, he came to the hospital himself, he brought friends. With the future, he decided:

- I have all hopes only for Russia.

Already without a camera, Aleksey briefly, obscenely, characterizes the current Ukraine and what it has done to his hometown. Tatyana appears, jumps on one leg, but does not cry out, she was anesthetized. He shows a bag with a 7.62 bullet, and Vlad, for comparison, clicks a 5.45 cartridge out of the magazine. She says: “I was at the end of my life, so I kept up, went down and didn’t have the strength to break a bone.”

We do not leave Tatyana in this hospital, we tell her that "it will be better in the basement." We promise to bring to the dressing on Monday. Perhaps there will be no more snipers in the area. Hope.

We return back. We are greeted by the whole yard, thanked, vying with each other to tell how we lived in recent months. I remember the phrase: "Bread is now more expensive than gold, and only smoke is even more expensive." They show how a sniper and a grenade launcher hit their yard - they waited until everyone gathered with bowls near a common pan. Vitaly, a blacksmith from Azovstal, says:

- I then ran to the militia, crawled through. They came, put the DShK (Degtyarev-Shpagin heavy machine gun), hit it so hard that the sniper hung upside down through the window sill!

Then we are led to look at a small courtyard cemetery near the Ukrainian propaganda monument to the “Victims of the Holodomor”. After 2014, they were sculpted in all Russian-speaking cities of Ukraine, as a warning to Muscovites, cotton wool and separatists. After what happened in Mariupol, this symbol of the "new Ukraine" causes only righteous malice. On the way back,

I notice that the corner of the yard has been cleared, and the flower beds have been dug up and the first sprouts are already breaking through on them. And at the sight of these beds, no words are needed to understand how they want peace here.

Tatyana's neighbors, old-timers of the city, explain to us where these sniper groups come from deep in the rear:

- The center of Mariupol stands on the catacombs. According to legend, the Cossacks dug them, and they were also used during the Crimean War. Just stone was mined for construction. Everyone who grew up in the center knows where the exits are. One is just on our street, two more are also nearby, on Kuindzhi street and in the City Garden. But there are more of them, of course, in the spring the passages usually open in the beams.

Of course, the “Azovites”, who had been preparing Mariupol for defense for eight years, could not help but know about these catacombs. And we, unfortunately, heard about them only now. And it cost a lot of blood.

In parting, Tatyana tells us: “God sent me today both enemies and his own,” the most precious words of the day, we did not expect them, did not count on them ... A little later, in the car, my friend, Vlad from Poltava , notices that "black longing" let him go. It also made me feel a little better.

9-year-old girl shot at California mall was waiting to see Easter Bunny
[NYPOST] The 9-year-old girl who was shot at a Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, mall Tuesday night was hit by three stray bullets while waiting in line to see the Easter Bunny, police and her relatives said.

Little Ava Chruniak was struck by the bullets allegedly fired by Marqel Cockrell, 20, a shoe store owner at the Mall of Victor Valley who was aiming at two shoplifters he was chasing away, according to police and her grandmother.

"Cockrell’s shots missed the shoplifters and instead hit the 9-year-old female victim," the Victorville Police Department said in a statement.

Ava suffered a broken arm, according to a GoFundMe page that was raising money for her hospital bills.

Ava was said to be in stable, pH balanced condition, and flashed a wide grin for the camera in her hospital bed in a picture posted online.

"No child deserves this she was at the mall going for Easter pictures with the bunny she such a sweet loving girl and loves reading her books," her mother, Natalie, wrote in the fundraising page.

Cockrell was arrested after he fled to Nevada following the shooting, police said. He is facing an attempted murder charge.

Expert Warns of ‘Terrible Year' As Swedish Fatal Shootings on Track to Break Records
[Breitbart] Swedish police gang crime expert Gunnar Appelgren has warned Sweden could be in for a “terrible year” as the number of fatal shootings could break new records if current trends continue.

On Sunday, Sweden — once a peaceful state of less than ten million souls — saw its 20th fatal shooting this year, and if trends continue the country may be seeing a new record for fatal shootings this year.

So far 2022 has seen the most fatal shootings from January to April of any year since the Swedish police began to publish records of shootings in November of 2016. There were seven fatal shootings in the equivalent reporting period in 2017, 2018 had nine, 2019 had 16, 2020 had 15, and 2021 had seven.

Gunnar Appelgren, Detective Superintendent and Gang Expert at the Swedish Police Authority spoke to broadcaster SVT regarding the trend for this year saying, “If you look at the start of this year, there are more deaths, but about as many shootings as there were in 2020. It’s a very high level we’re at right now.”

Appelgren noted that many of the killings are related to criminal gang activity and revenge conflicts between gang members. “There are still very violent conflicts and spirals where revenge begets revenge. The very first crime of trying to shoot someone dead creates this spiral of violence,” he said.

In recent years, Swedish police have successfully managed to take many gang members off the streets of cities like Malmö, largely thanks to the hacking of the encrypted messaging app EncroChat, which was widely used by organised criminals across Europe.

However, according to Appelgren, those gang members who have been taken off the streets have been replaced by younger gang members who are just as willing to use firearms.

“Even if you have prosecuted a lot of people, younger boys continue to be perpetrators in these murders or attempted murders with firearms,” he said.

“If we look statistically at the last five years, there will be more shootings in the next four or five months than in January-April. If this trend is true, we have a terrible year ahead of us,” he added.

Company Pushing For Multi-Billion Dollar High Speed Rail Project In Texas Owes More Than $600,000 In Property Taxes
[ZeroHedge] The company behind the plans for a multi-billion dollar bullet train project in Texas can't even seem to get out of the starting gate.

The company, Texas Central, is in the midst of seeking out a $12 billion federal loan for the project, but also happens to owe $623,000 in delinquent property taxes, according to a new report from the Houston Chronicle.

The company owes "at least" that amount, according to a brief filed with the Texas Supreme Court in an ongoing condemnation lawsuit by several counties where the train is supposed to run.

Convicted Islamic State Terrorist Worked Security At Austria's Largest Vaccine Site
[Breitbart] A 21-year-old who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a coworker has been revealed to be a former Islamic State terrorist who managed to obtain a security job at Austria’s largest Chinese coronavirus vaccination site.

The 21-year-old was arrested in January after allegations that he had tried to force himself on one of his coworkers at the Austria Centre Vienna (ACV) where he worked as a security guard, which also serves as the largest Wuhan coronavirus vaccination site in the country.

On Wednesday, the man was indicted for the alleged sex attack and his criminal history first became known as the court noted that in 2017 when the man was 17, he had been convicted to two and half years in prison for being a member of a terrorist organisation but only served ten months behind bars.

The year prior the man had attempted to join the Islamic State terrorist group and receive combat training in Syria but had been caught by Turkish authorities in the southern border town of Gaziantep in May of 2016 and sent back to Austria, Kronen Zeitung reports.

Just months after he was sent back to Austria by Turkish authorities, the man was caught attempting to recruit eleven and twelve-year-old boys in a park for the terror group in July of that year.

Neither the Austrian Centre Vienna nor the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund aid organisation that runs the vaccination centre, claim to have known of the man’s criminal background.

“The security company in question is a renowned company and has assured us of the police inspection of all employees employed in the ACV. We are shocked by what has happened. We would like to express our sympathy to the victim and hope for a quick legal clarification,” the aid organisation said.

The 21-year-old, who is still an employee of the ACV, claimed he is innocent of the charges of sexual abuse and rape against his colleague, stating that the sexual relations between the two had been consensual.

Radical Islamic extremism remains a major issue in Austria and the country is said to have one of the largest numbers of residents going overseas to fight for Islamic terrorist groups per capita in Europe, according to the Journal for Deradicalization, a peer-reviewed academic journal.

The Islamic State also played a part in the 2020 Vienna terrorist attack that saw four people fatally shot by terrorist Kujtim Fejzulla, who was said to have been in contact with a German member of the terror group as well as a Turkish supporter of the Islamic state.

Memos gathered by FBI show pattern of Hunter Biden mixing business affairs with hunger charity
[JustTheNews] With his father's eight-year tenure as Barack Obama's vice president waning, Hunter Biden received a remarkable overture in 2015: One of China's richest businessmen wanted to make a sizable donation to the World Food Program USA (WFP USA), which was led by the VP's son.

WFP USA is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to raising funds and building U.S. support for the World Food Program, the United Nations organization that fights global hunger.

But soon, memos gathered by the FBI show, the charitable discussions evolved into an expanding relationship between Hunter Biden and Chinese energy giant CEFC to include business deals that would eventually reap the Biden family millions of dollars.

"CEFC China is very interested in exploring humanitarian initiatives of mutual interest to the World Food Program USA and discussing investment opportunities with Burnham," an email received and then forwarded by Hunter Biden in October 2015 stated. Burnham was one of the many firms through which Hunter Biden and his partners like Devon Archer scored large investments.

The story of CEFC's dual pitch for charity and business opportunities is documented in emails and memos stored on the notorious laptop Hunter Biden abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop. The device was eventually turned over in December 2019 to the FBI, which is leading an investigation into the taxes, finances and foreign business dealings of the president's son.

The FBI's former intelligence chief said the Chinese overture to Hunter Biden fits the classic pattern of a foreign influence operation, much like was seen with Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell a few years ago.

Moskva does not believe in tears
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Platon Besedin

[REGNUM] Today, April 15, 2022, in the hero city of Sevastopol, they said goodbye to the legendary cruiser Moskva. And the epithet "legendary" here is not for the sake of a red word - it is a statement of fact, and nothing more. "Moskva" is the same part of Sevastopol as Malakhov Kurgan or Chersonese. He is native, he is from childhood. I am telling you this as a citizen of Sevastopol.

And with "Moskva" I, like many others, are associated primarily with victories. Parade on May 9, for example. Or Russian Navy Day, where the cruiser—the “aircraft carrier killer,” as it was called—always took center stage. I also remember how in 2008 the Sevastopol residents welcomed "Moskva" on their native embankment. Then the steel hero with living heroes on board returned after the pacification of Georgia.

Now it won't come back. And today in the Sevastopol square of the 300th anniversary of the fleet, they said goodbye to the "Moskva." Already forever. Many were crying as if a close friend had passed away. The one who lived. Yes, the loss of ships is always perceived by the people as especially painful, but this is already a special case. The cruiser Moskva, indeed, intertwined with Sevastopol, becoming one of its symbols and certainly its talisman.

Yes, he has long been with the Black Sea Fleet and with the hero city, respectively. Launched in July 1979. So consider: he lived for 43 years. For a person, the age is considerable, but for a warship it is generally very, very solid.

After its flooding, by the way, many pedaled this very topic. Like, the old man was shabby. The cruiser, indeed, is somewhat outdated and required modernization. And here the damned question arises: why was this modernization not carried out? Although only a very sleepy one did not say: "Moskva" needed improvement. However, they didn't happen. Was there no money? What were they going for? Opportunities not found? Now what?

You can, of course, diligently broadcast that the Moskva cruiser is outdated morally and technically, but such speeches are relevant when you have dozens of modern and ultra-modern ships in ports, which, at least, are not inferior, but better than the object under discussion. How about with us? Is everything alright? It is reported that there are two ships equal to the "Moskva" in the Russian fleets. But how many spectacular, powerful yachts have been built by Russian oligarchs for the people's money.

In general, these attempts to justify the loss of the Moskva cruiser look, to be honest, sometimes not only unconvincing, but also harmful. After all, one should not be afraid to speak with the people - to speak, if not frankly, then at least semi-frankly. With us, it comes to the point that people learn information about the fate of the cruiser from the Pentagon. Is it correct? It seems to me that this military conflict should teach all of us exactly the dialogue between the people and the authorities. And this applies not only to the situation with the cruiser.

The special operation in Ukraine, in principle, raised a lot of damned questions. After the Crimean War, the Russian poet exclaimed: “Is it possible that the Russian soldier will return to the same thing? ..” He exclaimed with the implication that Russia needs changes, solid, intelligible. So the special operation, like that doctor, examines the patient, removes the bandages and diagnoses the state of affairs.

After all, many things in Russia were unwilling and could not be changed, not because there were not enough resources or opportunities for that, but simply because everyone was satisfied with the prevailing parity. The tops, elites, groups of influence (call it what you want) divided the country and everything seemed to suit everyone. But after February 24, things got so bad that only a madman does not understand: the changes are not just overdue - they rolled in like waves, and not to implement them means signing a death sentence for yourself. Sorry for the stamp, but in this case it is as accurate as possible and more than appropriate.

We have come to a great choice - to remain the same and lose Russia or, having changed, making systemic conclusions and taking drastic measures, try to save our Fatherland. Half measures, standard rhetoric and mechanisms are indispensable here. Only maximum mobilization and unpopular decisions can forge our victory. And then the death of the cruiser "Moskva" is not without sadness, but it certainly will not be in vain.

In the meantime, we say goodbye to the era and wait for changes. And I remember how, on one of my visits to the cruiser Moskva, I was there together with Yulia Chicherina and Vadim Samoilov. And they sang before the sailors. Mentally so, under an acoustic guitar. They sat straight, in a military way, but periodically glanced at the senior officers, and one of them nodded, giving a sign, and the sailors dragged along with Vadim and Yulia:

"The battle is over, the fire has withered

And there was nothing left.

And we live, and we are with you

Lucky…”

Third Texas migrant bus arrives near US Capitol
[FoxNews] A third migrant bus arrived in Washington, D.C., around 8 a.m. Friday as part of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's efforts to counter federal immigrant policies amid the current border crisis.

Texas began sending an unspecified number of buses en route to Washington, D.C., on April 8, followingAbbott's statement that Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) officials would be transporting migrants released in Texas communities to the nation's capital. The White House initially described it as a "publicity stunt," with many assuming the governor would not follow through. The Friday bus carried approximately 30 migrants.

"What better place for them to go than the steps of the United States Capitol?" Abbott asked "America's Newsroom" hosts just last week.

The first migrant bus arrived in DC on April 13, with the second bus arriving the next day. Both buses included immigrants from Venezuela, Cuba, Colombia and Nicaragua.

The group spoke with the press in Spanish, and eventually called together a prayer circle not far from where they were dropped off.

Abbott has been highly critical of the Biden administration's handling of the border crisis, stating that the federal government has failed in properly assessing the border situation.

During remarks at a ceremony for a Texas Department of Safety Memorial, Abbott stated more than 1.6 million people had crossed the border into Texas illegally in the last 15 months.

As of February, approximately 220,000 known "gotaways" have evaded Border Patrol since October 2021, a Department of Homeland Security official told Fox News in February.

The legality of Abbott's move to send migrant buses to Washington, D.C., remains in question, however. The 2012 Supreme Court case, Arizona v. the United States, established states could not make their own immigration policies.

Abbott has called on Mexico to step up and help curb illegal immigration numbers. He threatened economic consequences during his Thursday night appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

"The predictable result is that these governors of states that are connected to Texas would be knocking on our door begging for relief," Abbott told host Tucker Carlson. "As they beg for relief, we are demanding that they implement security measures that will reduce illegal immigration coming across the border."

Abbott: Enhanced Inspections Have Forced Multiple Mexican States to Negotiate on Border Security, We'll Keep Inspections if They Don't
[Breitbart] On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) stated that the enhanced safety inspections of commercial vehicles coming into Texas from Mexico have predictably resulted in the governors of multiple Mexican states demanding relief from the traffic slowdowns caused by the inspections, and that as those states demand relief, “we are demanding that they implement security measures that will reduce illegal immigration coming across the border.”

He added that the governors of several Mexican states have either reached an agreement or are in talks with Texas to implement security measures. Abbott also vowed that if Mexican states won’t bolster security, “we are going to continue with our right to inspect every single vehicle coming across that bridge into the state of Texas, regardless of the economic consequences it poses to Mexico.”

Abbott said the inspections “had the predictable result, and that is it snarled traffic for miles…basically crashing economic conditions in these states as well as in the country of Mexico and having severe economic consequences for businesses in Mexico. And the predictable result is that these governors of states that are connected to the state of Texas would be knocking on our door begging for relief. And as they beg for relief, we are demanding that they implement security measures that will reduce illegal immigration coming across the border.”

He continued, “There are different standards that we will be applying to different states that are connected to the state of Texas. Yesterday, we announced an agreement with the governor of Nuevo Leon. Today, we are hammering out details with two more states that are adjacent to Texas, they have border crossings in Texas, that will have some different measures that enhance security, that [stop] the flow of illegal immigrants from their states to the state of Texas, and then there will be one more state governor that we are dealing with tomorrow to try to hammer out details with him. Altogether, we expect and we demand that, on the Mexican side, they finally step up and stop these low-water crossings and other actions that are allowing these illegal immigrants to cross the border. If they fail to do that, we are going to continue with our right to inspect every single vehicle coming across that bridge into the state of Texas, regardless of the economic consequences it poses to Mexico.”

Abbott added that “you may see heightened migration attempts in other states like New Mexico and California where they are being less resistant as Texas is.”

Mexican Cartel Gunmen Torch Trucks at Border Port to Protest New Texas Checkpoints
[Breitbart] Cartel gunmen set fire to three tractor-trailers outside an international port of entry Wednesday to protest Texas’ rollout of new border enforcement programs ahead of Title 42’s cancellation. The torching comes at a time when truckers and politicians on both sides of the border oppose additional vehicle inspections ordered by Governor Greg Abbott.

The case took place on Wednesday afternoon in Reynosa, near the Pharr International Port of Entry. The Tamaulipas government disclosed that a group of men riding in SUVs set fire to three tractor-trailers waiting at the port. State police forces were able to track the men using surveillance cameras. Authorities managed to arrest three men suspected of being part of the Reynosa faction of the Gulf Cartel and seized two vehicles. It remains unclear if more gunmen took part. Inside one of the vehicles, authorities found a container of gasoline.

The three men are in police custody undergoing questioning.

Texas DPS Border Inspections Take 1K Dangerous Commercial Trucks, 84 Drivers Off U.S. Roadways
[Breitbart] Texas Department of Public Safety troopers conducting safety inspections of commercial vehicles at ports of entry stopped nearly 1,000 trucks with “serious safety violations” from driving into the state. The increased inspections are being carried out under an order from Governor Greg Abbott as part of a response to the growing border crisis.

Troopers took nearly 25 percent of the 4,133 commercial vehicles inspected during the first six days following the governor’s announcement off the roadways for “serious safety violations,” according to a statement provided by DPS officials. Troopers placed 973 commercial vehicles out of service following the inspections. These safety violations included defective brakes, defective tires, and defective lighting. Troopers also placed 84 drivers out of service for violations of state or federal regulations.

Abbott, Mexican governor reach agreement to secure part of Texas-Mexico border
[Breitbart] Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the governor of the Mexican state of Nuevo León signed a memorandum of understanding Wednesday expressing their shared commitment to increase security along their shared border.

Abbott and Gov. Samuel García signed the agreement at a news conference in Laredo, Texas. They reached the agreement after Abbott expanded border security measures through Operation Lone Star, directing Texas Department of Public Safety officers to perform enhanced security checks of commercial trucks at ports of entry. This led to protests and major jams, halting international commerce at at least three major ports of entry on Monday and Tuesday.

Garcia began implementing security measures on the Rio Grande River and at ports of entry in Nuevo León on Tuesday, he said.

Nuevo León, located in the northeast region of Mexico, shares a 14-kilometer border with Texas. The Laredo-Columbia Solidarity International Bridge, which saw backlogs as a result of Abbott’s new policy, connects Laredo, Texas, to Colombia in Anáhuac, Nuevo León.

Abbott also announced that crossing the Laredo-Columbia Bridge “will return to normal effective immediately” and remain that way “as long as Nuevo León executes this historic agreement.

“Since Nuevo León has increased security on its side of the border,” Abbott said, Texas DPS was returning to its previous policy of randomly stopping vehicles crossing the bridge into Texas instead of performing enhanced checks.

Through OLS, Texas law enforcement officers have apprehended known convicted murderers, previously convicted child rapists, kidnappers, drug traffickers, MS-13 gang members and cartel members who’ve entered Texas illegally from Mexico, and seized enough fentanyl “to kill every man, woman, and child in the U.S.,” Abbott said.

“Texas is apprehending people crossing our borders illegally from countries like China, Iran, Russia, Iraq and more than 150 countries,” he added. “It’s time for the Biden administration to stop it.

“Until he does, Texas will continue to use its own strategies and work with Mexico to secure the border.”

#1  Comment from Breitbart on the "dangerous commercial trucks" issue:
“These unnecessary inspections are occurring when vehicles exit U.S. ports of entry within the El Paso and Laredo areas of operation after being comprehensively inspected and cleared to enter the United States by CBP,” the statement reads. Absolute 100% BULL SCHIFF. The CBP DOES NOT do safety inspections. Full stop. End of lie. They inspect for illegal material/contraband and that is ALL. They do not do DOT type safety inspections on the drivers or the equipment.

#1  Now it will get stupid Indian leaders to help Srilanka by playing to the populist hindu egos. Watch as China begins to hail India in the media, and Indian media houses sing of how China adores India for being 'brave and noble'. They may even jointly produce some stupid mythological flick for the Indian rube.

Idiots in New Delhi will sign off on some aid package for the srilankans hoping to please the millions of tamils back home and they'll sell it as 'India has become a great saviour, a big brother to nations!' while the CCP slap their knees laughing.

#3  😛

I merely meant to say the Chinese will play the Indian leadership using typical Indian hubris and aspirations of grandeur. And the leadership will find a way to sell a $ billion aid package for the Srilankans, to clueless taxpayers.

Now the srilankan population consists of Tamils in great number. [A linguistic group] Tamil Nadu in India is the ridiculously Tamil state full of regional minded obstinate fools, barring a few evolved communities. These constantly demand aid and security and help and sops for their cousins in the ocean. [I'm not doing a very good job here am I?]
Basically srilanka is a thankless ingrate whom we protected, helped feed itself, helped grow into something remotely investable. And then they changed loyalties for the Chinese plastic magic wand. Sold out for a few blōwjobs and scholarships in America for their children. We didn't really need a sovereign buffer state in the Indian Ocean. Not one this useless anyway.

I would advise new Delhi to regime change it and 'help' local democracy find a stooge leader who would never entertain China's overtures again. And plant our Navy all across its ports.

#5  We have already sunk $5 billion in this place, just because New Delhi keeps hoping this is the way to make loyal friends. And we're going to send them $2 b more. Then China will regime change them and pick a stooge from the primary political dynasties there.

My solution would be to start a civil war. Then finish it for them. And plant our own stooge from a non-dynastic party. Somebody staunchly budhist right-wing or something.

#16  ^ They're trying. They poured millions into KP Oli's pockets and his establishment. We helped replace it with a... better pedigree of leadership. India and the US have gone to great lengths to ensure this total commie-fication of Nepal doesn't take place. It was one of the things we did well to team up on.

This is in fact one of the ops Washington got right. Of course it was begun in DJT's term. Maybe he took Indian advice, I don't know. By 2018, DC realised Nepal was going the wrong way and regime change was not possible using Pakistain here. The Millenium Challenge Corporation under USAID infused the local democratic foundations with funds and enabled the Nepali Congress to compete in free and fair elections. We wanted the same thing and it took elbow grease and... some unmarked graves [because money is never enough...sigh]. But the regime was changed back to a more pro-Nepal than pro-China government.

But they're still trying. Nepal is two different societies. One are the Neowari upper castes, Gorkhali, Chetri etc. You know some of them as Gorkhas. The other are madhesis, a pejorative for essentially people who don't belong. The Gorkha and Chhetri are fiercely traditional Hindu-buddhist. The madhesis are... diverse. And that's where the UFWD finds its worker bees. Building Chinese schools, promising careers in mainland China, creating silent plodders against the nationalist core. Planting Chinese overseers in Nepal.

Brazil also ranks alongside Ukraine, Australia and the US, as one of the nations with the highest population depression rate (5.9% out of total, or about 11.5 million people) globally. Some data, taken from the Center for Valuing Life (CVV), a Brazilian non-profit organization that provides people having suicidal tendencies with telephone assistance, expose that one case occurs every 43 minutes. The WHO warned that around 800 thousand people annually die due to theses tendencies, considered as the second cause of death in the Brazilian population between 15-29 years. People suffering from depression are lacking medical care and in many other countries less than 10% of depressed patients access medical care.

Iran starts production at centrifuge component workshop
[AnNahar] Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
has started making components for machines used to enrich uranium at a new workshop in Natanz, the country's main nuclear site, the U.N. atomic watchdog said Thursday.

The new workshop replaces a nuclear facility in Karaj, near Tehran, after an attack there last year, which Iran said was an act of sabotage.

On Tuesday, the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) completed installing surveillance cameras at the new site and removed the seals from the machines to produce components of centrifuges, equipment used to enrich uranium.

"On April 13, Iran informed the agency that the machines would start operating at the new workshop the same day," Director General Rafael Grossi said in his latest report on the Islamic republic's nuclear program seen by AFP.

World powers are negotiating to revive a 2015 landmark agreement to rein in Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.

The accord started to unravel in 2018 when then US president Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
left the deal and re-instated sanctions, leading Iran to in turn step up its nuclear program again.

Negotiations to return to the 2015 agreement started early last year. Negotiators say they are close to a conclusion, but have not manage to finalize all points yet.

Since last year, Iran has not allowed the IAEA to actively use its surveillance cameras. Instead, Tehran is storing the recordings while negotiations are ongoing.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Biden should listen to the generals on Iran deal
[NY Post] Finally, some common sense: In an open letter to President Joe Biden, 46 retired generals and admirals this week denounced the ongoing Iran deal negotiations.

"In Ukraine, we are bearing witness to the horrors of a country ruthlessly attacking its neighbor and, by brandishing its nuclear weapons, forcing the rest of the world largely to stand on the sidelines," they noted.

And: "The new Iran deal currently being negotiated, which Russia has played a central role in crafting, will enable the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism to cast its own nuclear shadow over the Middle East."

Biden is hell-bent on putting a new Iran deal in place despite all those begging him not to. A group of 18 House Democrats this month warned that it would be an even bigger disaster now than the 2015 Obama accord (which then-President Donald Trump wisely killed). Top US diplomats have quit the negotiating team over the weak positions they’ve been ordered to take.

Israeli experts estimate that Iran could go nuclear within four to six months under the deal Biden’s minions are negotiating. Why offer major concessions to a hostile regime for that?

Of all the Biden policies that leave us scratching our heads, this one takes the cake

#7  As I recall, the land corridor to the Crimea concept needed to remove one major urban nexus to prevent endless guerrilla ops to interdict rail/road movement and security from an urban core base of operations. Large scale artillery concentrations to effect WWII levels of destruction on such a resistance center are hard to create and protect, given how relatively close they need to be.

The Bomber Harris airpower strategy seems an apt alternative given how poorly the ground war has been going, and so far that segment of Russian military has been kept from the fray. High end ADA (Air Defense Artillery) systems are bigger and easier to find for the Russian counter-battery effort. Look for Viet Nam redux video of Bear Bombers in flames as this goes on...

Posted by: Slappy || 04/16/2022 19:29 Comments || Top||

#9  Mother Russia The US is running out of cruise missiles. That is all.

Wrong. Completely backward.

"The American strategy is presenting Western countries with a stark choice between pouring more supplies into Ukraine or husbanding finite capabilities they may need for their own defense.

Germany has declined to transfer tanks to Ukraine on grounds that it simply cannot spare them. Canada quickly ran short on rocket launchers and other equipment that the Ukrainians desperately need.

***The U.S. has already provided one-third of its overall stockpile of Javelin anti-tank missiles. ***

The US cannot easily deliver more without leaving its own armories badly depleted — and it may take months or years to significantly ramp up production.

Before the U.S. entered World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt and his military advisers engaged in intense debates about whether the U.S. should rush weapons to a beleaguered Britain or hang onto them in case America had to defend itself. Biden’s arsenal-of-democracy strategy is reaching a similar inflection point in Ukraine.
Kyiv will require far more Western support to beat back Russian forces gathering in the east, where relatively open terrain is less favorable to the defense. It will also need more sophisticated weapons, such as tanks and aircraft, to deny Russia a decisive advantage — and perhaps take the offensive if Moscow’s eastern offensive falters. Stout Ukrainian resistance has given Kyiv a reasonable chance of winning this war, but the cost of any victory, in equipment no less than lives, will be astounding.

For the same reason, the war in Ukraine is a sobering preview of the problems the U.S. itself would face in a conflict against Russia or China. If forced to go to war in Eastern Europe or the Western Pacific, Washington would spend down its stockpiles of missiles, precision-guided munitions and other critical capabilities in days or weeks. It would probably suffer severe losses of tanks, planes, ships and other assets that are sophisticated, costly and hard to replace.

Trump Endorses J. D. Vance as GOP Candidate in Ohio Senate Race
[NATIONALREVIEW] Former president Trump endorsed GOP candidate J. D. Vance in Ohio’s Senate race on Friday.

Once a vocal critic of Trump during his first presidential bid, Vance declared his support for Trump in 2020 and has since carried his mantle with a populist campaign platform.

A GOP primary poll released Friday showed Vance in second place, at 22.6 percent, to Republican Josh Mandel, at 28.0 percent, according to the Trafalgar Group.

Sidelined in peace talks, PULO rebels claim responsibility for Deep South bombing
[BenarNews] The leader of the PULO separatist group claimed Friday it carried out a deadly twin bombing in Thailand’s Deep South because it was sidelined from peace talks between Thai negotiators and another rebel group, BRN, and wanted to be included. The explosions on Friday struck Sai Buri, a district of Pattani province, in the middle of Ramadan, killing a villager and injuring three members of a police bomb squad, officials said.

"Today’s incidents were carried out by one of our five PULO operation units. It is to say that the Thai peace dialogue panel must negotiate with all groups. Patani doesn’t belong only to the BRN," Kasturi Mahkota, the leader of the Patani United Liberation Organization, told BenarNews.

The attack shattered a relative calm that had settled over Thailand’s southern border region since early April. It was the first bloodshed since Barisan Revolusi Nasional rebels and the Thai government, through direct talks brokered by Malaysia, agreed to a 40-day pause in violence during the Islamic fasting month.

Suspect in Syria killings faces German war crimes charges
From two days ago, but does not seem to be the same person as this report from two days ago, but may be this unnamed man whose arrest was reported in our archives last August.
[AnNahar] A man who allegedly launched a grenade into a crowd of civilians waiting for food in Damascus in 2014, killing at least seven people, has been charged in Germany with war crimes and murder, prosecutors said Thursday.

The stateless man, identified only as Moafak D. in line with German privacy rules, was a member of the Free Paleostine Movement,
...Palestinian Syrian armed movement and community organization headed by businessman Yasser Qashlaq that supports the Ba'athist government of Syria. The organization opposes the existence of Israel, and was mostly known for political activism and social services in favor of Palestinians in Syria and the Gaza Strip...
one of the groups that at the time controlled the Yarmouk district of the Syrian capital on behalf of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Despoiler of Deraa...
's government, federal prosecutors said in a statement.

They said that, on March 23, 2014, the suspect launched a grenade from an anti-tank weapon into a crowd in the district's Rejeh Square who were waiting for food aid from UNRWA, the U.N. agency for Paleostinian refugees. At least seven people were killed and three maimed, including a 6-year-old child.

The Yarmouk district, which grew out of a Paleostinian refugee camp, was cordoned off by the Syrian government from July 2013 to April 2015, causing shortages of food, water and medical supplies.

The suspect was arrested in Berlin on Aug. 4. Prosecutors didn't say how or when he came to Germany. He has been charged at a regional court in the German capital with war crimes, seven counts of murder, three of attempted murder and three of bodily harm.

Germany's application of the rule of "universal jurisdiction," allowing the prosecution of serious crimes committed abroad, led in January to the first conviction of a senior Syrian official for crimes against humanity.

The Berlin court will now have to decide whether to bring Moafak D.'s case to trial.

Two Years Of Migration Trends Show Americans Fled To Sun Belt States
[ZeroHedge] New migration trends published in a report by Realtor.com revealed Americans who had the economic mobility to pick up their bags and bug out during the pandemic fled from expensive coastal cities and liberal technology hubs to Sun Belt states, according to Bloomberg.

Now for the exodus. Rent growth in some Northeast and Mid-Atlantic cities was flat to negative. Buffalo, New York and Washington, D.C. recorded negative to flat rent growth over the last two years. Rents were muted in liberal technology hubs, such as San Jose, California; San Francisco, California; and Seattle, Washington.

Too cool! Tell us more, if you can.
I'm thinking about mounting a NERF gun on an RC truck chassis to chase the squirrels off the lawn.

You can't have boots everywhere, but you can have treads and little robot spider legs. That eagle soaring overhead? Yeah, he's one of ours too.
