#3 I've always wondered about the near hysterical chi-com need to assure themselves of their military's loyalty.

their hinkyness WRT military to military contacts with the US is just one glaring example. Are they afraid that we might give their generals ideas?

I wonder how much is from the communist parinoia, and how much was from a fear of the historical cycle of empire that figures in china's history.
