#3 Along a certain District street
The snow was piled at least three feet.
A man and child with weary feet
Slogged through the drift, and were they beat!

Yes, friends, they were pretty glum,
But better times were soon to come,
For Fate -- who says she's deaf and dumb? --
Stuck in her thumb, pulled out a plum.

Now through the dusk came flashing stars
From cycle-cops and siren-bars,
A fleet of armored motorcars,
And our beloved Czar of Czars!

The limo passed, and slowed, and stopped.
It backed right up; a window dropped!

"You two look cold!" His smile was charming.
"I'm here to help." His mien, disarming.
"Uh, though this blizzard is alarming,
Let's not lose sight of global warming."

The man and child left standing there
Beside the silent thoroughfare,
Laughed loud and long: "Thanks for the lift."
"Wow, that was quite a Christmas gift!"
