#1 CHINA is formally opposing this THAAD venture wid SOKOR, + has submitted protests to both SOKOR + US via diplomatic channels. Beijing is likely NOT going to be thrilled at Reports of JAPANESE CONTRUCTION of a new base for the JGSDF on Yonaguni close to Taiwan.

FYI the Island Nation of CHUUK [fka Truk] may vote for formal independence from the Federated States of Micronesia [FSM]. Good or bad, this presents a clear opportunity for China to get PLA strategic access to the former Japanese bastion in Chuuk/Truk Lagoon, + get closer to its desired "Third Island Chain" in Mid-Pacific.
