#1 LOL Europe is so fucked. Bet they feel like assholes for abusing us for so long. Maybe they shouldn't have free rode off our defense guarantees and laughed all the way to the bank while racking up gargantuan trade surpluses.

Nah I bet they feel they're the victims here. Ungrateful jerks.

#2 When George Bush 'banned' fetal stem cell research the act was condemned. Researchers were pushed out of their comfort zones but many new candidate sources were identified and developed. Now SC treatments are commonplace.

This may be economic politicking or it may be forcing the advancement of metallurgy.

#4 This looks like a negotiating position to me: "Make it worth my while to make this go away," but we'll see. I expect shrieks of horror from both sides of the Atlantic over this -- European Conservative is right about this raising manufacturing costs.

#5 If they cut taxes then manufacturing costs can fall.

#6 Who the hell cares what prices rise or fall? What matters is *do our people benefit*?

For too long we have suffered under those whose sole metric is "does it lower costs" without any consideration of how those policies affect the lives of real people.

Never again.

#8 There are reports that there will be retaliatory tariffs on blue jeans and cranberries. (I am not making this up.)

Anyone can write their own punchline here.

#9 The real shrieking will come when tariffs are raised, from 2.5%, on automobiles and parts.

#10 ...that's why the Japanese built plants in the US after the threat of tariffs/quotas after the 70s gas shortage prompting Americas to discover fuel efficient, quality constructed, all inclusive priced Japanese automobiles.
