#1 Sunk actually according to photos. Several more valuable ships in harbor at the time - curious that this was the target selected.

#2 Dozens of Russian sailors are thought to have died when 'British-supplied Storm Shadow missile' fired by Ukraine obliterated warship in Crimea

Putin's mouthpiece blames BRITAIN for being behind Kremlin's Boxing Day humiliation after Russian warship was obliterated by Ukraine strike: 'It was not Ukraine, but Britain that struck the port of Feodosia'

#4 Probably sunk or damaged a third small floating repair platform, too.

#6 The reports of the ship being used to transport munitions appear to be accurate. I have never seen a ship go up like that. It reminds me of a memorial price of ship that I saw by the gate at the Ammo Ship base in Colt’s Neck NJ.

#7 So not just a 'hey we hit the port' missile.
Somebody had timing and targeting intel.

#8 The second ship was worthless, but floating and removing it will have to be done eventually. Keeping a derelict in service to inflate the strength numbers was a mistake.

#9 Local Russian reports are only one individual, a female security guard, was killed.

The amphibious landing ship was only damaged.

#10 Years ago I was a DCA on a destroyer. DCA is an acronym for Damage Control Assistant so I had training in firefighting and other bad things on ships. I have maintained an interest in fire on ships over the years. I have never seen anything like that conflagration. I studied the Stark, Roberts, Iowa, Forestall, as well as others and inspected the damage from a small fire onboard the USS Cunningham. My own ship was decommissioned early due to a fire.
I have never seen a fire like the video from that fire. The ship burned like a matchstick. It looked like the Texas City disaster. That ship is not damaged. It is slag. That was a magazine fire without any type of material condition properly set. What is left is slag. Almost all of the ships that were sunk at Pearl other than two were refloated for repair of for use as parts donors. Cole, Stark, Roberts, Belknap and Forestall were repaired. This Russian ship is done. That fire looked like Jiffy Pop loaded with cherry bombs. Anyone on that ship at the time of impact is in the morgue not the hospital. Anyone on liberty was a lucky son of a gun.

#11 The scale of the explosion is seen as due to a large quantity of munitions on board when the Storm Shadow missile struck.

One piece of the hull of the landing ship was found one kilometre - more than half a mile - from the explosion.

Other debris was scattered around Feodosia.

Reports have suggested the Novocherkassk was 4,400 pieces of artillery ammunition and 280 missiles for the BM-21 Grad MLRS.

There were also claims the vessel was carrying Iranian Shahed drones for use to strike Ukrainian targets.

#12 Frank, one of the things that you are missing when you use an amphib as an ammunition ship is adequate magazine storage. They must have been using the vehicle or landing boat bay for storage without fire suppression. Hindsight is 2020, but they could have parked the “training hull” outboard of the ship that they lost. Probably would not have worked, but they both were lost anyway.
