Potential Ft. Hood Bomber Abdo Faces 10 Years, Maybe More
Moved to Wednesday for further comment. AoS.
A federal judge in Waco heard testimony from FBI agents in the case of Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo before sending the case to a grand jury. The judge said Abdo could be indicted on additional charges but didn't elaborate.

U.S. attorneys already have charged Abdo with possession of an unregistered destructive device. Abdo, who is being held without bond, has yet to enter a plea. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

Britain
Riots spread through UK cities
[Dawn] Violence and looting raged across London and spread to three other major British cities on Tuesday, as authorities struggled to contain the country's most serious unrest since race riots set the capital ablaze in the 1980s.

In London, a third straight night of disorder saw buildings, vehicles and garbage dumps set alight, stores looted and coppers pelted with bottles and fireworks, as groups of young people rampaged through neighborhoods. It was an unwelcome reminder of London's volatility for leaders organizing the 2012 Summer Olympics in less than a year.

As authorities struggled to keep pace with unrest unfolding at flashpoints across London, the violence spread to the central city of Birmingham, the western city of Bristol and the northwestern city of Liverpool. Prime Minister David Cameron
... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
cut short his summer vacation in Italia and was headed home for a meeting of the national crisis committee on Tuesday morning.

The riots appeared to have little unifying cause -- though some involved in the violence claimed to be motivated by government cuts to public spending.

The government was aiming to toughen its stance against the violence, as some communities complained that stretched police were struggling to contain the unrest with rioters plundering from stores at will, menacing shocked customers at restaurants and attempting to invade homes. Stores shut early across London, fearful of violence and looting.

Violence first broke out late Saturday in London's northern Tottenham district when a peaceful protest over the fatal police shooting of Mark Duggan, a 29-year-old father of four who was bumped off in disputed circumstances Thursday, turned violent.

Two police cars and a double-decker bus were set alight, stores were looted and several buildings along Tottenham's main street -- five miles (eight kilometers) from the site of the 2012 Olympics -- were reduced to smoldering shells.

Duggan's death stirred old animosities and racial tensions which prompted riots in the 1980s, despite efforts by London police to build better relations with the city's ethnic communities after high-profile cases of racism in recent decades.

As the unrest spread, some pointed to rising social tensions in Britannia as the government slashes 80 billion pounds ($130 billion) from public spending by 2015 to reduce the huge deficit, swollen after the country spent billions bailing out its foundering banks.

In south London, a massive blaze swept through a 100-year-old family run furniture store in the borough of Croydon and sent thick plumes of smoke into the air, forcing nearby homes to be evacuated. Police also confirmed they were investigating a nonfatal shooting in Croydon, but were unable to say whether the incident was linked to the chaos.

Dozens of people attacked shops in Birmingham's main retail district, and clashed with police in Liverpool and Bristol -- spreading the chaos beyond London for the first time.

In the Hackney area of east London, hundreds of youths attacked shops and set fire to cars, leaving a trail of burning trash and shattered glass. Looters ducked into a small convenience store as the blackened shells of two cars burned nearby, filling plastic shopping bags with alcohol, cigarettes, candy and toilet paper.

"This is the uprising of the working class. We're redistributing the wealth," said Bryn Phillips, a 28-year-old self-described anarchist, as young people emerged from the store with chocolate bars and ice cream cones.

Phillips claimed rioters were motivated by distrust of the police, and drew a link between the rage on London's street and krazed killer right-wing politics in the United States.

"In America you have the tea party, in England you've got this," he said.

Police acknowledged Tuesday that major new bouts of violence had flared in at least five locations, badly stretching their resources. Many more neighborhoods saw mobs vandalize commercial streets or break into buildings -- some acting with virtual impunity, as authorities struggled to deploy officers to every scene of unrest.

"The violence we have seen is simply inexcusable. Ordinary people have had their lives turned upside down by this mindless thuggery," police commander Christine Jones said, as she confirmed that 239 people had been placed in long-term storage and 45 people charged with offenses.

Though the unrest escalated through Sunday as disorder spread among neighboring areas, the crisis worsened Monday -- with violence touching areas in the east and south of London previously untroubled by the chaos.

"There is significant disorder breaking out in a number of our communities across London," Tim Godwin, the acting London police commissioner said Monday, acknowledging that 1,700 extra officers had been deployed across London, but were struggling to halt the unrest.

Some residents called for police to deploy water cannons to disperse rioters, or call on the military for support.

About 100 young people clashed early Tuesday with police in the Camden and Chalk Farm areas of north London, while others tore through a department store in the busy south London suburb of Clapham.

The small groups of youths -- most with their heads and faces covered -- used SMS messages, instant messaging on BlackBerry smartphones and social media such as Twitter to coordinate their attacks and stay ahead of the police.

Once the preserve of businesspeople, BlackBerry handsets are popular with teenagers, thanks to their free, fast instant messaging system. Blackberry's manufacturer, Research in Motion, said in a statement that it was assisting authorities in their investigation and "feel for those impacted by the riots in London."

Police were also monitoring Twitter, and warned that those who posted messages inciting the violence could face arrest.

In the Peckham district of south London, where a building was set ablaze along with a bus -- which was not carrying passengers -- onlookers said the scene resembled a conflict zone. Cars were torched in nearby Lewisham, and shops looted in south London's Clapham district.

"There's been tension for a long time. The kids aren't happy. They hate the police," said Matthew Yeoland, a 43-year-old teacher watching the unrest in Peckham.

"It's like a war zone and the police weren't doing anything. There were too many people and not enough police."

Police said Duggan was rubbed out last week when police from Operation Trident -- the unit that investigates gun crime in the black community -- stopped a cab he was riding in.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission, which is investigating the shooting, said a "non-police firearm" was recovered at the scene, and media reports said a bullet had been found in an officer's radio. However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the Guardian newspaper reported that the bullet in the radio was police-issue, indicating Duggan may not have fired at the officer.

Duggan's partner, Semone Wilson, insisted Monday that her fiance was not connected to gang violence and urged police to offer more information about his death. But she said the riots appeared to be no longer linked to the initial protests.

"It got out of hand. It's not connected to this anymore. This is out of control," she said.

Many Tottenham residents claimed that the looting was the work of greedy youths -- rather than fueled by anti-police sentiments.

"It's nothing to do with the man who was shot, is it?" said 37-year-old Marcia Simmons, who has lived in the diverse and gritty north London neighborhood all her life. "A lot of youths ... heard there was a protest and joined in. Others used it as an opportunity to kit themselves out, didn't they, with shoes and T-shirts and everything."

The past year has seen mass protests against the tripling of student tuition fees and cuts to public sector pensions. In November, December and March, small groups broke away from large marches in London to loot. In the most notorious episode, rioters attacked a Rolls-Royce carrying Prince Charles and his wife Camilla to a charity concert.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the full impact of spending cuts has yet to be felt and the unemployment rate is stable -- although it remains highest among youth, especially in areas like Tottenham, Hackney and Croydon.

Some residents insisted that joblessness was not to blame. "It's just an excuse for the young ones to come and rob shops," said Brixton resident Marilyn Moseley, 49.

Godwin urged communities to help clear the streets of people, and called on families to contact their children and ensure that they were not involved in the chaos. An 11-year-old boy was charged with burglary by police, and at least 100 of those placed in long-term storage were aged 21 or younger. About 35 coppers had been injured in the violence, police said.

Home Secretary Theresa May, the Cabinet minister responsible for policing, and London Mayor Boris Johnson also cut short summer vacations in an attempt to deal with the crisis.

Police in the city of Birmingham, 120 miles (195 kilometers) north of London, confirmed that officers had placed in long-term storage 35 people amid disorder across the city center, where shops were being vandalized. In Bristol, police urged residents to avoid the city center after 150 rioters went on the rampage.

In the south London neighborhood of Brixton -- the scene of riots in the 1980s and 1990s -- youths smashed windows, attacked a police car, set fire to garbage bins and stole video games, sportswear and other goods from stores on Sunday night.

Like Brixton, Tottenham is an impoverished area with an ethnically diverse population, a large black community and a history of unrest.

Tottenham was the site of the 1985 Broadwater Farm riots, a series of festivities that led to the fatal stabbing of a police officer and the wounding of nearly 60 others -- and underscored tensions between London police and the capital's black community.

West Ham, a football team in east London, confirmed it had canceled a match planned for Tuesday and said police had asked for "all major public events" to be postponed.

However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
the national Football Association insisted that a scheduled international friendly match between England and the Netherlands would go ahead at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

The International Olympic Committee said it had confidence in British authorities.

"Security at the Olympic Games is a top priority for the IOC," front man Mark Adams said.

#4  If, and it's a BIG if, there is some truth to the "protesting gov't. cuts" meme. I can actually sympathise to some degree.

If gov't is up against the wall financially the first things to go have to be the obscene salaries and perks of the parasites, especially at the top. Here that would mean cutting all salaries above some minimum ($50,00?) by 25%. Redo all pensions so that they are merged into social security. Look at lay-offs and hiring freezes for the long term.

Will this solve the finances? No. BUT, it would help AND it would start the process of regaing respect for the institutions which is, as I understand it the main problem in UK.

If even the middle class, the support base for the police holds them in contempt along with the rest of the justice system, then there is nothing to restrain the rioters at all. Democratic, sovereign gov't. (of by for) all hinges on the belief of the citizenry that the gov't by and large works for them.

I think that trust is rapidly fading here and in the UK it's worse.

#5  The looters have admitted that they're looting because "there's nothing else to do, there's no jobs". I'm of the opinion that one or two incidence of Lead Poisoning by store-owners would stop the riots quite quickly.

#9  Validation about the worth of a commitment to a multi-cultural society. Not multi-racial, but multi-cultural. It leads to self-segragation, and eventually, for those from cultures (not races) without an enterprise/self-reliance ethic, to dependence on government largesse. When the money runs out and the subsidy to peaceful indolence decreases, the violent youth, especially those who have reverance for the "gangsta) ethic, display their nature.
A salutory note for other Western nations, including ours.

#14  Shame really. He stood his ground. He presented a problem and offered a solution. He could have looked the other way and avoided all the later difficulties. Sweep it under the rug he said but he said no he would do it again. This is how things are done in many countries. Much of what he spoke of has come to pass. Beatles "Get Back to where you once belonged" tune was of the time.
The will of the majority was ignored. Tide of immigration has overwhelmed the indigenous population. Race card only works for all others.

#1  Truth- it was never there. It was a fad. Like the riots in this countries past and in many parts of the world. Media daily body counts. 24/7 media blitz. People with nothing else to do. A rave party of group thought. Followers not leaders. Pier pressure and what I call the flocking effect. Right now with so many idle, like a hurricane the barometric pressure begins to drop. Any little thing can happen to trigger the storm of insanity. What started it will be forgotten but many rationalizations will be generated after the event. Any area that has high unemployment should now be watched for Rave riot quickening flutters. When it is hot and nice weather are needed ingredients as well. Idle hands the devils work they will do. Those who work who have a self worth and care about others will never be a part of this. That's what I see in the Tea party. They care for our country and the future."Where is the anti-war movement?" the marching orders of the media, Universities, and left elites have not been issued. When they have lost power they will summon their followers. Simply good versus evil or Ying and yang. Eternal tug of war.

#3  "Hopefully I'm wrong and people will remember now that the bag of tricks and scams appears to be running dry". People need a strong leader. Like children they need direction. These tricks and scams are repeated time after time. It works. Someone like Governor Christie who would stand toe to toe are needed. A con man can take money and do it over and over till he is stopped. No compromise. You compromise you lose.

#4  When you mentioned a 'Governor Christie' I almost choked on my coffee laughing...Christine Todd Whitman according to Wiki: "In 1997, she repealed the 7% sales tax her predecessor Governor Florio had imposed (rolling it back to 6%), instituted unspecified education reforms, and removed excise taxes on professional wrestling, which led the World Wrestling Federation to resume holding events in New Jersey. In 1999, Governor Whitman vetoed a bill that outlawed partial birth abortion; the veto was overridden, but the statute was later declared unconstitutional by the courts. In 1999 she also made a cameo appearance on the television show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."...My Lord, if that isn't presidential material, I don't know what is...maybe the GOP can run ads of her frisking various African American males a la Willie Horton..

Proj Gunwalker: US Attorney Opposes Victim Status For Terry Parents
The US Attorney on this case is Dennis Burke, Phoenix, Arizona. He served as Chief of Staff to Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano. In Sept 2009, he was sent to Phoenix at the start-up of "Fast and Furious" and was the judge that often denied indictments requested by the AFT agents.

Any lawyers around to explain this "victim status?" I've done some research and it seems they wanted to maintain Border Agent Terry's victim status since is is dead.
In a controversial legal move, Dennis K. Burke, the United States Attorney for the District of Arizona entered a response yesterday in U.S. District Court to deny a motion filed on behalf of Kent Terry, Sr. and Josephine Terry, parents of murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, to intervene as victims in the case of United States of America v Jaime Avila, et al.

"This Court should deny the motion to intervene as victims because the intervenors are not victims in this case," Burke wrote, stating they do not qualify as victims under the Crime Victim Rights Act.

Citing precedent cases, Burke argued "While Agent Terry is undeniably a murder victim, he is not a victim of Defendant Avila's firearm offenses as the CVRA defines 'victim'." The filing also maintained "The victim of the offenses is not any particular person, but society in general," and declared:
The Intervenors nevertheless claim that a link exists between the firearms that Defendant Avila purchased and firearms found at the scene of Agent Terry's murder, and that he consequently had a "role" in the murder, which qualifies them as victims under the CVRA. Whether such a link exists--the nature and extent of such a link have not yet been determined--that link does not make the Intervenors victims of Defendant Avila's indicted offenses.
So the parents of a crime victim aren't allowed rights under the CVRA? Doesn't that rather undermine the whole purpose of the CVRA? Of course to the progressive crowd that might be a feature, not a bug.

#1  If Agent Terry's parents don't have victim status they don't participate in any restitution payments ordered by the court in the Avila case. It looks like the US Attorney is willing to screw Agent Terry's parents out of that money (if there is any) to preserve the politically helpful fiction that Gunwalker did not contribute to Agent Terry's death. File this under "Extreme Chickenshit".
Posted by: Matt || 08/10/2011 13:27 Comments || Top||

#2  Realistically, the DOJ would be nuts (OK _ nuttier) if they didn't try and stop giving the parents a bully pulpit in court to point a finger directly at the US Gov't for materially contributing to their son's killing. Ayuh, they are scum but they are pretty much forced into the tactics of mistake (TM) by the original f-up. They get a little farther and farther out of whack as they try to cover up the last cover-up.

Aircraft Bomb Dry Run At Sky Harbor Only Labeled 'Hoax', 3 Arrested
Three African "refugees" have been arrested after an elaborate scheme to put a pseudo-bomb on an aircraft was detected by Sky Harbor Airport security.

A TSA employee discovered a cellphone attached to a container holding an as yet unidentified organic material while performing a security check on carry-on bags. The Phoenix Police Department's bomb squad and the Fire Department's hazardous-materials crew determined the device was not capable of exploding nor toxic enough to represent a serious threat.

The owner of the device, Luwiza Daman, 51, told investigators that an acquaintance had given her the device and asked her to deliver it to an unknown person in Des Moines, Iowa.

Later, investigators found a second person they believe was involved in the incident, Shullu Gorado, 25. Gorado told them he gave the device to Daman after a third person, Shani Asa, 34, gave it to him.

Investigators then located Asa, who admitted he attached the cellphone to the container housing the organic material and gave the device to Gorado.

All three individuals were arrested on suspicion of having a hoax device and conspiracy to obtain a hoax device.

#3  More. It appears they're all Eritreans.

Fifty-one-year-old Lewiza Daman was arrested after police aid she tried to board a plane to Des Moines over the weekend. She listed her residence as the Iowa Bureau of Refugee Services, which is on 7th Street.

Sounds like a homeless shelter. You usually don't see a lotta homeless flying on the airplane.

Daman told police that Shullu Gorado gave her a package of sesame paste to give to a friend in Iowa. The package had a cellphone taped on top of it. Speaking from jail, Gorado said he had no idea someone else taped a cellphone to the package."I sent food to my friend to give it in Iowa, and unfortunately there was a cell phone in the food together. They say those things are illegal," said Gorado.

Gorado claims he's not part of a group that's using fake bombs to test airport security, and denies making a fake bomb.

Police arrested the person who allegedly taped the phone to the package, Asa Shani, on Monday.

All three are African refugees from the country of Eritrea, a country that's been accused of supporting Islamic terrorist groups.

Even a fake bomb is a real asset for an attacker.

PM sounds out Saudis on weapons sale
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani
... Pakistain's erstwhile current prime minister, whose occasional feats of mental gymnastics can be awe-inspiring ...
held extensive talks with King Abdullah on Monday.

They discussed ways of enhancing trade and economic ties between the two countries. The two sides agreed to continue close coordination on all major issues and to stand by each other in times of need.

The meeting was marked by complete unanimity of views on most regional and global issues, sources said.

This visit was basically to perform Umrah, the Pak side conceded, yet the Saudi leadership opted to invite the prime minister on an official working visit of the Kingdom.

This was a special gesture from Soddy Arabia as they rarely invite foreign leaders on official visits during Ramadan, Pak diplomats said.

Prime Minister Gilani profusely thanked the king for the kind gesture. Sources said that the prime minister laid out before the king the difficulties and the tough economic conditions the country was facing because the on going war on terror.

The Pak side reportedly reiterated its interest in selling heavy defence equipment, including tanks and armoured vehicles to Soddy Arabia. Soddy Arabia has been evaluating the possibility for some time.

It is believed that Prime Minister Gilani also made a request to Saudi officials to extend the deferred oil payment facility to Pakistain again, so as to help it overcome the current budgetary problems. Soddy Arabia indicated it would consider the suggestion.

The current situation in Afghanistan, especially the emerging situation in the wake of the anticipated US pullout and its fallout on the entire region, was also discussed between the two leaders.

Soddy Arabia underlined the significant role that Islamabad had to play in bringing about a peaceful, negotiated, end to the Afghan imbroglio.

Pakistain and Soddy Arabia agreed to the need of peace and stability in the Middle East.

Early on Monday morning, Prime Minister Gilani and his entourage performed Umrah, praying for the solidarity, stability and progress of Pakistain and the Ummah.

Before meeting King Abdullah, the prime minister also addressed the Pakistain Investment Forum at an Iftar dinner hosted by them.

He assured the business community that Pakistain was in safe hands and that Pakistain's economy was on way to recovery.

He said that the current democratic era had provided political stability to the country -- so very essential for the growth and economic prosperity of any country.

The prime minister said that Pakistain was facing numerous challenges.

He said these included the country's war against militancy and terrorism, the impact of the global recession, high international prices of petroleum products, and the massive damages of up to $10 billion caused by the floods last year.

However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
he said the national economy was resilient and pursuing a vigorous reform agenda.

#1  The only thing that Pakistan has that Saudi Arabia might want is an atomic bomb. They can get pretty much anything else direct from the vendor.

PPP also responsible for Karachi's situation: Nabeel Gabol
[Dawn] Pakistain People's Party (PPP) leader and MNA Nabeel Gabol on Tuesday said "everyone knows who is responsible for the killings in Bloody Karachi", DawnNews reported.

Mr Gabol stated that he knew of almost 5,000 houses where weapons were stored and that there was no need for a political reconciliation. He also held the PPP as among those responsible for the situation in Bloody Karachi.

Speaking during a debate on the situation of Bloody Karachi in the National Assembly, Mr Gabol said that he would tell Interior Minister Rehman Malik
Pak politician, current Interior Minister under the Gilani administration. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. He later joined the Pak Peoples Party and was chief security officer to Bhutto. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Näwaz Shärif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men.
about the elements responsible for destabilising Bloody Karachi.

He said he did not want any prize for identifying the culprits and further stated that the police and law enforcement agencies were providing security to the criminals.

During the session, PPP leader Fauzia Wahab said some people were unwilling to accept the facts behind Bloody Karachi's situation and were destroying the city as a result of their irrational approach towards the issue.

On the occasion, Pakistain Mohammedan League -- Nawaz leader Ayaz Amir said that different administrative systems were being introduced for different regions of Sindh. He further said that the corps commanders should not issue statements on Bloody Karachi and other internal issues.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Mustaqbal: Mansour's Visit to Syria Reminiscent of Days of Hateful Syrian Hegemony
[An Nahar] The Mustaqbal
... the Future Movement, political party led by Saad Hariri...
bloc criticized on Tuesday Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour's trip to Syria on Sunday, saying that it is reminiscent of the "hateful" days of Syria's hegemony over Leb.

It also praised in a statement after its weekly meeting: "Parliament's approval of a law on its maritime borders, which will help facilitate and speed up the steps needed to pave the way for drilling for oil in the Mediterranean Sea."

"This step complements the efforts that had been previously launched by the governments of slain former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and former Premiers Fouad Saniora and Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's liquidation. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
," it stated.

The bloc therefore called on pro- and anti-government forces to cooperate in investing in Leb's resources that will benefit the country's higher national interests.

It also urged the officials to continue their efforts and take the necessary measures to follow up on parliament's approval of the maritime law.

On this note, it called on them to "assert the state's role in defending Leb's economic zone."

Addressing the developments in Syria, the Mustaqbal bloc condemned the ongoing violence against the anti-regime protests.

"It is necessary to halt the violence without any delay to put an end to the crimes against humanity being committed against the civilians and hold those behind the crimes accountable," it stressed.

Iraq Parliament Speaker: Syria Crackdown must End
[An Nahar] The speaker of Iraq's parliament on Tuesday called for an end to Syria's deadly crackdown on anti-regime protests, saying the neighboring country must "stop the bloodshed."

"The bloody events occurring in Syria call for us to demand that the Syrian government stop the bloodshed, because the government is responsible for protecting the people," Osama al-Nujaifi said in a statement.

"We call for an end to all non-peaceful activities, and what is happening in Syria, the shedding of blood and the oppression of freedom, is condemned and unacceptable."

Nujaifi's comments are the most senior condemnation yet by an Iraqi politician since Syrian President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators. Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor...
's forces began cracking down on pro-democracy demonstrators in March.

In late May, however, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki called for reforms to be enacted by Damascus

.
The regime's repression of the uprising has left more than 2,050 people dead, including almost 400 members of the security forces, according to the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

#2  The speaker's a Sunni. It looks like the Middle Eastern response to Assad's crackdown is almost purely sectarian - the Sunnis are critical, whereas everyone else is mealy-mouthed (while inwardly rejoicing that the Sunnis are on the receiving end of a beat down, for a change).

Aoun: Syrian People are Committing Terrorism, Not the State
Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
leader MP Michel Aoun
...a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
demanded on Tuesday the Syrian people to return to their senses, calling on them "resort to the ballot boxes instead of resorting to murder and massacres" in dealing with its internal affairs.

He said after the Change and Reform bloc's weekly meeting: "The terrorism is being committed by the people and not the state or any human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
groups as they are saying."

He added that Syria is being pressured to sever its ties with Iran, Hizbullah, and Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and launch negotiations with Syria and not introduce reform.

"I don't think Syria has harmed anyone on the Turkish border or any of the Arab forces," Aoun continued.

"Whoever goes to Syria sees that it is calm, but there are a few problems," he said.

In addition, the FPM leader stated that all of the wars the United States is waging will not result in the establishment of a pro-American government in the Middle East.

On Leb informing the Special Tribunal for Leb that it has failed in detaining suspects in the liquidation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, he said: "The names of the suspects have been known for a year and of course the suspects have decamped."
