Taliban raked in $400 million from diverse sources - U.N.
(Rooters) - The Taliban raised about $400 million (249 million pounds) last year from sources that included donations, taxing local economies and extorting money from such targets as drug pushers, cell phone operators and aid projects, according to a U.N. report on the bad boy Islamist group released on Tuesday.

The report to the U.N. Security Council by the sanctions monitoring team said that about $275 million of that income reached Taliban leadership and the rest was collected, spent or misappropriated at the local level.

"The team understands Taliban funding as follows: revenue raised from taxing the local economy serves primarily to support local operations and is only in a few cases channelled upwards," the report said.

"Revenue extorted from nation-wide enterprises such as narcotics producers and traffickers, construction and trucking companies, mobile telephone operators, mining companies and aid and development projects goes to the Taliban Financial Commission which answers to the Taliban leadership," it said.

Donations were another major source of funding, which also went directly to the Taliban leadership.

The estimate covers the financial year ended March 20, 2012.

Obama: Egypt Neither Friend Nor Foe
President Barack Obama says in an interview that the U.S. would not consider Egypt an ally, "but we don't consider them an enemy."

Obama says in an interview with the Spanish-language network Telemundo that Egypt is a "new government that is trying to find its way." He warns that if the Egyptian government takes actions showing "they're not taking responsibility," then it would "be a real big problem."

The president discussed the Middle East in the aftermath of protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo that led to crowds climbing the embassy walls and tearing down an American flag. It coincided with attacks on the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi that led to the killing of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.

#8  We bribe Eygpt to leave Israel alone.

I understand that. I think the Israelis can handle them. The Egyptian military knows it. Stop giving the Egyptian military any assistance, activate the hidden kill switches, and let the Israelis know all the codes for the equipment we gave the Egyptians.

#9  I doubt their are hidden kill switches but the truth is an M1 is probably gonna be worthless in a few months without proper maintenance and I've ready humorous stories about third world maintenance standards let alone about the communications up and down their command structure. Egypt has a rolling target range. If they go to war Israel gains the moral high ground and can do what they want to satisfy their security needs. I suspect they have a few ideas on that.

The Egyptians could do far more damage by supporting Palestinians and radicals in other nations. But the Zionist entity (that doesn't exist on their maps) makes such a tempting target, it insults their very manhood.

Libya deputy PM condemns killing of U.S. ambassador, three staff in Benghazi
[Haaretz] Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abu Shagour confirmed on Wednesday that the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, was killed in an attack in Libya.
"Braddock, have the deputy secretary of state express our appreciation."
"Yes, Your Worship!"

"I do condemn the cowardly act of attacking the U.S. consulate and the killing of Mr Stevens and the other diplomats," Abu Shagur wrote on Twitter.
"And have him tweet the appreciation on Twitter."
"Of course, Your Immensity!"

Stevens and three other embassy staff were killed in a rocket attack on Tuesday night that targeted his car in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, a Libyan official had told Rooters.

Meanwhile,
...back at the hoedown, Bob finally got to dance with Sally...
Al Arabiya reported on Wednesday that Stevens died of suffocation during the attack on the consulate in Benghazi, citing Interior Ministry sources.

The attack in Libya came hours after ultraconservative Islamist demonstrators in Egypt climbed the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, which is officially U.S. territory, to protest a film being produced by Egyptian Coptic Christians living in the U.S.

An Israeli filmmaker, responsible for the movie attacking Islam's Prophet Muhammad that sparked the angry assaults, went into hiding on Tuesday.

Speaking by phone from deep, deep cover an undisclosed location, writer and director Sam Bacile remained defiant, saying Islam is a cancer and that he intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion.

House conservatives call for stripping aid to Libya, Egypt from spending bill
[The Hill.com] A group of House conservatives is calling for foreign aid to Libya and Egypt to be stripped from a six-month federal funding bill set for a vote on Thursday.

A handful of politicians voiced outrage Wednesday at the B.O. regime's response to the attacks on the U.S. embassies in those countries, and suggested the inclusion of foreign aid could influence their votes.

"It makes it easier to vote 'no' " on the spending bill, freshman Rep. Jeff Landry (R-La.) said at a press event with conservative House Republicans at the Capitol.
The House on Thursday plans to vote on a continuing resolution that would extend federal funding through March, preventing a government shutdown before the election or during a lame-duck session of Congress this fall. While conservatives pushed to avoid a shutdown fight, they have also raised alarms about the inclusion of additional welfare funding in the bill.

"It would show a tremendous amount of leadership from this administration, in light of the recent developments, if the president were to come back and demand that the amount of money that is in the [continuing resolution] for Libya and Egypt be stripped. That would be tremendous leadership," Landry said.

Security Council, Ban Say Killing of U.S. Ambassador 'Unjustifiable'
[An Nahar] The U.N. Security Council and U.N. leader the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
on Wednesday hit out at the killing of the U.S. ambassador in Libya as "unjustifiable."

The 15-nation council put aside divisions over the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and organization....
military action in Libya and the Syria conflict to agree on a statement condemning the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi "in the strongest terms."

The council also strongly condemned an earlier mob attack on the U.S. embassy in Cairo. Both have been blamed on anger over a film which mocks Islam and its prophet Mohammed.

The Security Council "reaffirmed that such acts are unjustifiable regardless of their motivations, whenever and by whomsoever committed."

Ban was also "deeply saddened" by the Benghazi attack in which U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three other U.S. staff and a number of Libyan guards were killed, said a separate statement released by a U.N. spokeswoman Vannina Maestracci.

"The secretary general condemns this attack in the strongest terms," added the statement.

"The United Nations
...an organization whose definition of human rights is interesting, to say the least...
rejects defamation of religion in all forms. At the same time, nothing justifies the brutal violence which occurred in Benghazi yesterday."

Mexican high court says military drug cases can be tried by military courts

For a map,click here

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

The Mexican Supreme Corte de Justicia de la Nacion (SCJN) or Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that soldiers undergoing prosecution for drug crimes should by tried in military courts, according to Mexican news accounts.

According to a news item posted on the website of Milenio news daily Wednesday afternoon, in a narrow six to five vote justices ruled that infantry lieutenant Martin Rueda Ovando need not appear before a civilian court for his crimes, since no civilians were involved in the alleged crimes by the soldier.

Lieutenant Rueda Ovando is said to have been under orders by an unidentified superior officer to destroy a marijuana plantation near a military checkpoint in Guachochi municipality in far western Chihuahua state April, 2010. The soldier had been charged with dereliction of duty and crimes against health.

The ruling by the SCJN is the first to constrict the role of civilian courts since last year in Mexico's ongoing drug war, where Mexico's popular military is involved. However, as matters stand now, since the standard of civilian involvement was imposed last year in cases with civilian victims of the military, the ruling seems to solidify and further clarify the July 2011 ruling.

In July 2011 the SCJN ruled that criminal cases against the military where civilian victims were involved must be set for investigation and trial in civilian courts. The effect has been to consider all cases where a civilian had been harmed at the hands of the military to be human rights cases.

The case of infantry Lieutenant Rueda Ovando was a clear departure from human rights cases since no civilians were victimized by actions of the military.

The ruling was so narrow, according to the article, because the defendant simply failed to fully carry out the order, and did not move the product for sale or commit any other act common to crimes against health.

According to an article which appeared in Informador news daily Wednesday, for example, on the same day the SCJN ruled nine to two that military police Carlos Fidel Flores Abrego and five other soldiers should be tried before a civilian judge in a 2011 murder case.

In 2011, Dr. Jorge Otilio Cantu was shot to death by elements of a Mexican Army road patrol in Nuevo Leon state. In that case, Flores Abrego had been accused of planting a weapon at the scene following the shooting to make it appear Dr. Otilio Cantu had fired on the soldiers, prompting army return fire.

Justices Margarita Luna Ramos and Salvador Aguirre Anguiano voted against moving the case to civilian court since the case had already already been decided in military courts.

Mexico's court system has been slow in implementing the new standard. A Jucio de amparo filed two weeks ago which appeared before the SCJN was denied by the court because two forced disappearance victims, Jose Luis Guzman Zuniga, 29, and Carlos Guzman Zuniga 28, were involved. In that case, 22 soldiers allegedly involved in the disappearance were ordered to trial in a Mexican federal court.

Jucio de amparo lawsuits are common procedural appearance meant to preserve the rights of defendants as well as victims in criminal cases.

Aussie terror suspect taken to the hospital
An Australian man expected to be charged with terrorism offenses has been taken to the hospital suffering abdominal pains. It is unclear how serious his condition is.

The 23-year-old was arrested on Wednesday following a series of raids on 11 properties that uncovered guns and extremist propaganda. He is expected to be charged with collecting or making documents likely to facilitate terrorist acts, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of 15 years' jail.

Police took a number of items from the properties, including a USB memory stick containing violent extremist materials, computer equipment, registered firearms and fake firearms.

One of the properties raided was the Al-Furqan Islamic Information Centre, which Muslim leaders said was on the fringes of the Muslim community and its leader, Sheik Haron, was not a member of the mainstream Muslim society.

In a statement, Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner for Crime Steve Fontana said, "I would like to reassure people that we have not identified any immediate threats that pose immediate concerns to the safety of the community and we will continue to work to ensure that all steps are taken to protect all members of the community."

Trial of Alleged Lebanese-Swedish Terror Suspect Postponed in Cyprus
[An Nahar] The trial of a man believed to be involved in the planning of a suspected terrorist attack against Israeli interests on Cyprus has been postponed.

Criminal court judges agreed Wednesday to reschedule the trial for Sept. 28 to give 24-year-old suspect Hosham Taleb's lawyer time to review a new set of charges presented by the state prosecutor.

Taleb, a Swedish national of Lebanese descent, originally faced 17 charges -- including espionage and conspiracy to commit a terrorist attack -- but lawyer Antonis Georgiades says they have now been reduced to eight "different" ones.

A security official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case said Taleb -- suspected of Hizbullah affiliation - was monitoring and recording the movements of Israeli tourists before his July arrest.

US hostage urges Netenyahu to meet al-Qaida demands
[Jerusalem Post] Hostage Weinstein says Obama shown no interest in case, pleas with Netanyahu "as one Jew to another," group reports.

A US aid worker held by al-Qaeda in Pakistain for more than a year has appealed to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to help meet the demands of his captors and secure his release, a group that monitors Islamist websites said on Wednesday.

Hostage Warren Weinstein said US President Barack Obama
Why can't I just eat my waffle?...
had shown no interest in his case and had failed to respond or accept al-Qaeda's demands, the SITE monitoring service said.

"Therefore, as a Jew, I am appealing to you, Prime Minister Netanyahu, the head of the Jewish State of Israel, as one Jew to another, to please intervene on my behalf, to work with the mujahideen and to accept their demands so that I can be released and returned to my family, see my wife, my children and my grandchildren again," SITE quoted Weinstein as saying in a video released by al-Qaeda.

Weinstein, who was kidnapped in the central Pak city of Lahore in August 2011, pleaded with Obama in a similar recording in May, saying his life was in his hands.

Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri said in December the group was responsible for Weinstein's abduction and demanded the release of all those in US detention for ties to his Islamist turban group or the Taliban.

He also demanded an end to air strikes by the United States and its allies against hard boyz in Pakistain, Afghanistan, Yemen and Somalia and Gazoo.

Israeli Rabbi Condemns Anti-Islam Film
[An Nahar] An Orthodox Israeli rabbi and former cabinet minister on Wednesday condemned as "garbage and slime" a film deemed offensive to Islam that has sparked deadly anti-U.S. protests in Libya and Egypt.

"Although freedom of expression and the right to use satire are sacred democratic principles, these freedoms should not be used as an excuse to publish garbage and slime," Michael Melchior, a long-standing advocate of inter-faith dialogue, wrote in a statement.

"The film of Sam Bacile, who identifies himself as a Jew and an Israeli, published under the guise of the 'war on terror,' is in fact a film that tramples upon the faith and dignity of hundreds of millions of Mohammedan believers and upon Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, in the most degrading and ugly way," he added.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Condemns Anti-Islam Film, Protest Planned
[An Nahar] Iran has condemned a film insulting Islam that sparked a deadly protest in Libya killing the U.S. ambassador, while Iranian media reported an anti-U.S. protest over the movie would take place in Tehran on Thursday.

A foreign ministry statement slammed the film, an amateur production made in the United States, as "repulsive" and said the U.S. government's "silence" encouraged such offences to Islam.

The Iranian statement made no mention of the attacks on U.S. diplomatic compounds in Egypt and Libya by ultra-conservative Moslems protesting the film.

In the Libya attack, U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other U.S. officials were killed when a mob stormed the consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi.

Iranian media, including news agencies ISNA, Fars and Mehr, all reported that a protest over the movie would take place in Tehran on Thursday around 12:00 pm (0730 GMT) in front of the Swiss embassy, which hosts a U.S. interests section in the absence of Iran-U.S. diplomatic relations.

The news agencies said the demonstration was called by the Student Islamic Society, a hardline group active in Iran's universities that has held anti-Western rallies in the past.

"The members of this society along with other students will hold a gathering in front of the Swiss embassy, which holds the U.S. interests section, to protest and condemn this insulting action by the Americans against Moslem holy figures. We ask all Iranians to take part in this gathering," Fars quoted the group's secretary general, Abolfazl Chamandi, as saying.

Foreign journalists are barred from covering any protests in Iran, making it difficult to verify how many people attend or what action they take.

Hizbullah on Film Offensive to Islam: Laws Must Be Issued to Incriminate such Acts
[An Nahar] Hizbullah slammed on Wednesday the film, "Innocence of Mohammedans", that has been deemed offensive to Islam, accusing Jewish and bad boy Egyptian Christian Coptic powers of funding it.
If they'd have asked me for a few hundred I'd have kicked in, if I'd had it...
It demanded in a statement that laws be issued in order to incriminate such acts similar to laws that condemn antisemitism.
"Yeah. You need Blasphemy Laws. Like they have in Pakistain."
"The screening in the United States of a film that is offensive to Prophet Mohammed is immoral and is of the greatest acts of aggression against human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
that call for the respect of freedom of belief," it added.
They haven't caught on to the fact that there are many of us -- and I suspect that the number is growing despite the pablum dribbled by Mr. O'Bean -- sincerely believe, based on empirical evidence, that Islam is a religion that condones and encourages and rewards violence.
The part said: "The film is a suspicious act aimed at fueling the fires of hate and increase tensions between Mohammedans and Copts in Egypt in order to drag them towards strife."
Or it could be a wake-up call to any dumbshitz who haven't yet caught on, after eleven years of open aggression punctuated by head-choppings...
"The screening is the true reflection of the Zionist-American alliance against Mohammedans and Islam," noted Hizbullah.
Lemme see, here. Somebody makes a film that sez Moslems are violent folk, ready to put on their masks and kill somebody at the drop of a hat. The response is to put on their masks, take to the streets, and kill a few people. Maybe lotsa people.
"The American statements of condemnation no longer fool anyone," it stressed.
Condemnation of the movie? Or the violence?
It questioned the silence of the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
and Organization of the Islamic Conference
OIC is an international organisation with a permanent delegation to the UN, with 57 member states. It represents all countries with substantial Moslem populations (as opposed to the Arab League, which excludes members not of the Master Race) except those which member countries block from joining. These include India, which has more Mohammedans than does Pakistain, whose membership is vetoed by Pakistain...
over the affair.
As long as their bitching and moaning is verbal they've got every right to an opinion. If they decide to kill somebody the film's premise is validated.
The screening of the film sparked outrage and violence in Libya and Egypt.
"My Mask? Where'd I leave my mask?.... Honey! Have you seen my deadly weapon?"
"On the shelf in the closet, dear!"

The low-budget movie, "Innocence of Mohammedans" in which actors have strong American accents, portrays Mohammedans as immoral and gratuitously violent.
They're in the process of reminding the world -- as though it needed reminding again -- that they're gratuitously violent. I'm not sure if the "immoral" part alludes to the widespread buggery among the devout, the murder of Big Mo's heir, or to the age at which the original Big Turban began packing pork to cute little Aisha.
It pokes fun at the Prophet Mohammed and touches on themes of pedophilia and homosexuality, while showing him sleeping with women, talking about killing children and referring to a donkey as "the first Mohammedan animal."
It cultural stuff. We just don't understand. It's all stuff they're proud of, stuff to be emulated, since Big Mo was the Perfect Human Being. But they don't wanna talk about it. And they surely don't want it on film. Or digital media or whatever.
The film was produced by Israeli-American Sam Bacile, according to the Wall Street Journal, but Egyptian media say that some Egyptian Copts living in the U.S. were involved in the production.
They live in the U.S. Unlike people living in Egypt, they can do as they damned well please.
The film is being promoted by controversial Florida pastor Terry Jones, who has drawn protests in the past for burning the Koran and vehemently opposing the construction of a victory mosque near Ground Zero in New York.
Jones is always good for widespread rioting and a few deaders. I'm surprised Hezbollah hasn't sent somebody to bump him off. That's probably an indication he's one of their agents.

U.S. intelligence agencies recently monitored a secret meeting between Egypt’s intelligence chief and a senior Iranian spy that is raising new fears the Muslim Brotherhood government in Cairo could begin covertly supporting global terrorism.

According to U.S. officials, the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, Maj. Gen. Murad Muwafi, met in early August with a senior official of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

Disclosure of the Egyptian-Iranian intelligence meeting comes as the Obama administration is planning to provide $1 billion in aid to bail out Egypt’s new Islamist government. The administration is said to be seeking closer ties to the new regime in Cairo, following the ouster in February 2011 of long-time ally Hosni Mubarak.

Many members of the pro-democratic, anti-Muslim Brotherhood opposition in Egypt believe the Obama administration has made a covert pact to support the Morsi regime.

Meanwhile in Cairo, Islamic protesters on Tuesday stormed the U.S. Embassy and pulled down the American flag to protest what they said was a U.S. film production the protesters claimed insulted Islam.

U.S. intelligence gathering targeting Egypt has been stepped up over the past year as the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist party, came to power in June. The group’s credo includes the phrase, “Allah is our objective; the Quran is our law, the Prophet is our leader; jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations.”

Since the revolution that led to the ouster of the pro-U.S. regime of Hosni Mubarak, a large number of radical Islamists have been released from prison and have gone back to preaching anti-Western and anti-Israel jihad, or holy war.

The meeting between Muwafi and the Iranian, identified by officials only with his last name, Gerami, set off security concerns because the Iranian spy service is a key player in Tehran’s international support for terrorism, as well as anti-U.S. and anti-Israel operations

#2  raising new fears the Muslim Brotherhood government in Cairo could begin covertly supporting global terrorism.

Not a surprise. "Conservative or moderate" are not useful words when talking about the Muslim world. The MB is largely Sunni. Tehran is largely Shia. The MB and Tehran are united in their islamist beliefs. Mainly in their hatred of Israel and their desire for Israel to be destroyed. Obama has been pitching to them slow and right across the plate.

#3  But Morsi has clearly sided with the Sunni rebels in Syria. Religous affiliation normal trumps ideology in the muslim world.

-Election 2012
Mittens Blasted for Criticizing Champ Too Soon
In which the Publican nominee is criticized for saying what is both correct and right...
In which the Publican nominee is criticized. Fixed that for ya...
Statements that the Republican presidential nominee made slamming President Obama led to a day of tumult for Romney, with leading voices in his party criticizing him and his top aides scrambling to prevent further damage.
From too soft to waaay too tough. So some say.
"I think it's a terrible course for America to stand in apology for our values, that instead when our grounds are being attacked and being breached, that the first response of the United States must be outrage at the breach of the sovereignty of our nation," Romney told reporters. "An apology for America's values is never the right course."
Whotta right-wing crazy!
"Governor Romney seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later," Obama told CBS. "And as president, one of the things I have learned is that you can't do that. You have to make sure that statements you make are backed up by facts and that you have to think through the ramification before you make them."
That's why I use a teleprompter. Don't leave home without it!
Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in an interview that Romney demonstrated "a level of political recklessness and expediency that I think defies America's interest. I think Mitt Romney is very sad," Kerry said, adding, "There ought to be some limits to ambition and trying to exploit every opportunity.""
I know you ALL wanted to know what Big Jawn had to say.
Later in the day, former defense secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld tweeted: "The attacks on our embassies & diplomats are a result of perceived American weakness. Mitt Romney is right to point that out."

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said that "Governor Romney is absolutely right, there is no justification for these deadly attacks and we should never apologize for American freedom."

But others said that regardless of the critique, the timing of it was poor. Rep. Peter T. King (R-N.Y.), chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, said Romney was "right on the larger point," but "I probably would have waited a day or half a day."
I agree with Rummy.
Unlike Obama, Romney does not receive national security briefings, and his aides and advisers watched the news and Twitter to monitor the situations in Egypt and Libya on Tuesday.
Clearly, WaPo writers do not get Rantburg briefings, either.
Romney's initial statement, just two sentences, echoed themes of "No Apology," the candidate's 2010 book. "I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi," he said. "It's disgraceful that the Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."

At the time, aides said, they did not know that J. Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, had been killed in Benghazi.

A statement from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo -- apparently a response to outrage in Egypt over an anti-Muslim film made in California -- said: "The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims -- as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions."
And two hours later, the Ambassador was dead. A few hours after that, other embassies were stormed. But the lesson is Mitt spoke too soon?
Romney also made clear at the news conference that he believes the [Egyptian] embassy speaks for the White House and Hillary, and Big Jawn, and the left-wing in general. "The president takes responsibility not just for the words that come from his mouth, but also the words that come from his ambassadors from his administration for his embassies."
Only if it's convenient, Mitt; I thought you understood that.

#1  Mitt should be blasting this incompetent President(?) on a daily basis. Reagan blasted Carter during the Iranian hostage crisis. He hit Carter on the hostage crisis, energy, a weakened military, and the economy. Redux 1979. Let the media go nuts; they will anyway. Appeal to the people in this country--they are the only ones that count. The debates will be important. However, Romney will have to deal with a hostile MSM who is running these debates and a President who is corrupt and willing to lie to achieve his objectives.

#2  Presidential debate suggestion:

"As president, I will not put personal travel or political campaign financing above the security of the American people and our embassies overseas. I will BE PRESENT for the White House daily intelligence briefings provided by the Director, Central Intelligence!"

#3  I thought the Ministry of the Nile just burned the US Embassy. Shoot first aim later? Sounds like a fast and furious beer summit.

Gun rhetoric; they want to ban firearms but love the firearm languages and analogies. So its a fetish, and they want all your firearms for themselves.

But more important meetings for Hussein (puh) came up like Vegas and Letterman.

CJCS Dempsey officially asks Terry Jones to withdraw support for Anti-Islam film
AiPee so here's a brief synopsis:
Today CJCS Dempsey called Pastor Terry Jones and asked him to withdraw his support and endorsement of the film 'Innocence of Muslims.'

Dempsey fears the film could cause violence and increase tensions.

Jones did not tell Dempsey whether he'd comply.

#1  I call on General Dempsey to STAY in HIS LANE and take care of soldier business. Until martial law is declared, civilian law enforcement authorities can take care of the regular folks and preachers.

If you don't have enuf to do general, I suggest you get with the US State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security and others, and dust off some USEMBASSY NEO (Noncombatant Evacuation Operation) plans. Might pay some big dividends in the coming weeks.

#4  Narcissistic, political sycophant who sees himself, sabre in hand, still marching on the Plain. We've cultivated an entire generation of these self-serving, social engineers. Little wonder men of the ranks have little use for most officers. Our Army and the nation is at low point because of them. Just my two cents worth.

#6  Right. And, when DADT was repealed IIRC there were not any public resignations by any of these generals in protest. I remember being proud of my Commandant when he said that we will follow orders but no one could tell him how the repeal of DADT would enhance our war-fighting capabilities. Which, should've been the central argument the whole time.
