-Lurid Crime Tales-
Former New Orleans Mayor Nagin Found Guilty of Corruption.
[Breitbart] A jury has found former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin guilty of corruption for taking bribes while in office. Nagin faced a 21-count indictment, and he was found guilty on 20 of them. Prosecutors had alleged he took bribes worth more than $500,000 in a string of criminal acts that began before Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005 and continued during the recovery.
It took ten years, but justice finally prevailed. Hopefully appropriate sentencing will prevail as well.

Naked Woman Jumps Out Boy's Bedroom Window
[THESMOKINGGUN] An Arizona woman jumped from the second-floor bedroom of a 15-year-old boy after his mother caught her cavorting naked with the teen last month, Sherlocks report.
This sort of thing happens to teenage boys all the time. At least that's what they tell each other.
Keri Gonzalez, 34, broke her ankle when she crashed to the ground outside the residence in Marana, a town 30 miles northwest of Tucson.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Gonzalez snuck into the home after the boy's mother fell asleep. The boy said that he and Gonzalez consumed alcohol she had brought to the home, and "had sex twice that evening" before his mother caught them in bed, deputies reported.

The boy's mother told Sherlocks that she awoke around 2 AM on January 21 to "knocking sounds by the stairs and on the wall." When she sought to enter her son's room, the door was locked. When her son subsequently opened the door, his mother spotted "a naked female crouching down on the floor between the bed and wall. The mother yelled at the female to get out of her house."

After gathering her clothes, Gonzalez exited via the window. The boy's mother spotted Gonzalez "limping as she walked down the street away from the home," deputies noted.

After fleeing the home, Gonzalez later returned to report to the boy's mother that she had broken her ankle. The teen's mother recognized Gonzalez as a "family acquaintance" whom she had previously caught "flirting" with her son.

During a January 25 police interview, Gonzalez, who had a cast on her ankle, provided a deputy with "information which helped to verify what the mother and victim had said occurred." She was later incarcerated

for sexual misconduct with a minor and providing false information to police, and booked in to the county jail, where the above mug shot was taken.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
This church holds naked services
[NEWS.YAHOO] It seems like there is a devoted group of people who regularly attend, not minding the chilly winter weather. Katie and Robert Church are two of those regulars. Katie emphasized that the church has a strong sense of community. Robert pointed out that by stripping down, people become equal, "There are people that have great means, great wealth, there's people that don't. But, you wouldn't know, and everybody treats everybody, you know, equally. You could really say the naked Churches enjoy this naked church.

The church is located on a nudist resort in Ivor. WWBT mentioned that during the summer, it gets so crowded that services are often standing room only.

Afghan housing bubble bursts
The housing bubble in Afghanistan was created by the influx of international organizations and their thousands of workers over the last 12 years. As countries pull out of Afghanistan, rent prices are tumbling, vacancies are soaring and sales have flatlined.

Egypt's most dangerous outlaw sentenced to 190 years in prison
[Egypt Independent] The Luxor Criminal Court sentenced Yasser Abdel Qader Ahmed, known as Al-Hambouly, to 190 years in prison on charges from 10 different cases.

Hambouly was sentenced to life imprisonment in five cases and to 65 years of hard labor in five others.

Judicial sources said that this is the heaviest sentence ever issued in the history of Egyptian courts and noted that according to law, the 49-year-old will only serve the life imprisonment.

Prosecutors had charged Hambouly, his son Heshmat and the members of his gang with murder, robbery at gunpoint, kidnapping and terrorizing citizens, possession of firearms and drugs, destruction of public property, resisting authorities and smuggling arms.

Hambouly was shocked when he heard the lengthy verdict read by the judge. "Why all these punishments," he shouted. "Are there no other criminals left in the country?"

Algerian army plane crashes - scores dead, one survivor
[BBC.CO.UK] An Algerian military transport plane has crashed in mountains in the north-east of the country with 103 passengers and crew on board, killing most of them.

The Hercules C-130 crashed in Oum al-Bouaghi province, en route to Constantine, in bad weather conditions.

One survivor has been found and the search continues, emergency official Col Farid Nechad told public radio.

The plane is said to have been carrying military personnel and family members.

The survivor is a soldier who is now being treated for head injuries at a military hospital in Algiers, a retired Algerian intelligence official told News Agency that Dare Not be Named news agency, on condition of anonymity.

Women and children were among 77 bodies recovered from the crash site so far.

Dozens of rescue workers are said to have reached the scene, despite the mountainous terrain and wintry weather conditions.

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika
... 10th president of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third or fourth term, who will probably die in office of old age...
sent his condolences to families of the victims and has decreed three days of national mourning to begin on Wednesday, said state TV.

'Storm and snowfall'
The plane was carrying 99 passengers - soldiers and their families - as well as four crew members.

The plane's original departure point was the Sahara Desert garrison city of Tamanrasset, 1,500km (950 miles) south of Constantine, but it had made a stop in Ouargla.

A source told radio station Ennahar - which has close links to the government and army - that contact was lost with the military plane between Oum al-Bouaghi and Constantine, as it may have been starting to make its descent prior to landing.

It crashed into Djebel Fertas mountain, some 380km (240 miles) east of the capital Algiers.

"Very bad weather conditions, involving a storm and heavy snowfall, were behind the crash," the defence ministry was quoted as saying in a statement.

This is the worst plane crash in Algeria for more than 10 years and the third involving an Algerian military Hercules.

Europe
Spain Parliament Moves to Curb Trials of Foreign Atrocities
[An Nahar] Spain's parliament took the first steps Tuesday to reduce the power of the country's courts to probe human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
cases around the world, a practice that has irked some foreign capitals.

Spain's conservative Popular Party tabled a draft law last month that will limit the use of "universal jurisdiction", which allows judges to try certain cases of human rights abuses committed in other countries.

Since the doctrine passed into national law in 1985, crusading Spanish judges have used it to pursue U.S. soldiers in Iraq, Israeli defense officials and Argentine military officers.

While very few probes opened under the doctrine have seen people brought to trial in Spain, investigations have sparked diplomatic rows with some countries.

In a recent case, a Spanish judge on Monday sought international arrest warrants for former Chinese president Jiang Zemin and four other top Chinese officials as part of a probe into alleged genocide in Tibet.

Forget Jian Zemin. I'd be going after Mao Tse Tung. He was the real sumbitch. A pointless, symbolic gesture you say? Well yeah, buth that pretty much describes the whole 'universal jurisdiction' nonsense.

Unlike the armchair phony-tough poseurs who belittle her and the other young protesters, she plainly realizes she is risking it all, and is doing so willing for freedoms we take for granted. They are hoping someone, anyone will hear and help. they are so desperate as to ask the EU for help. Yeah the EU stinks, but sneeringly abandoning these people into the tender mercies of Putin and his gang, just to spite the EU's socialists is a pretty stupid thing to do. As for the US, Obama has already sold them out once, and he is trying to ignore the Ukraine lest he shit his pants if Putin says boo. So they really don't have any choice at this point.

By the way, spare the rod? What kind of response is that? You either are egging on a dictator to swing the truncheon, which makes you an asshole, or you're equating her to a spoiled child, which makes you an asshole. Got a non asshole explanation for that grom?

Turkey Removes Scores of Prosecutors, Judges in Purge
[An Nahar] Turkey's government on Tuesday removed 166 prosecutors and judges as it stepped up a purge of the judiciary in response to a high-level graft probe, local media reported.

Those sacked included senior prosecutors in the capital Ankara, Istanbul and the western city of Izmir, the Hurriyet daily said on its website.

Since the scandal broke in mid-December, the government has sacked thousands of police -- some 6,000 nationwide according to media estimates -- prosecutors, judges and senior lawyers involved in the investigations into alleged money laundering, gold smuggling and bribery.

A further 85 senior coppers were sacked in Istanbul this week alone.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi only they haven't dumped him yet...
has accused supporters of exiled Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen, who wields influence in the judiciary and police, of launching the probe as part of a "coup plot" against his government in a crucial election year.

But the purges, coupled with legislation aimed at increasing government control on the judiciary and the Internet, have raised deep concern at home and abroad about the state of democracy in the country.

Lawyers help eight suspects flee court
[DAWN] A group of lawyers helped eight suspects escape from police custody after a Lahore High Court judge on Monday dismissed their bail petitions in a dacoity case.

police nabbed
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
the ninth suspect who was also trying to escape from the court. Police had booked nine suspects on charges of injuring a citizen, Hafiz Javed, during a robbery.

The suspects through their counsel approached the LHC for pre-arrest bail. The counsel argued that police implicated his clients in a fabricated case with mala fide intention.

He said the police had no evidence against the suspects and the medical report obtained by the complainant was also fake.

The counsel asked the court to grant his clients pre-arrest bail so they could join police investigation.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the court dismissed the bail petitions relying on the police record. The counsel along with other associates shielded the suspects when police personnel forwarded to arrest them.

The lawyers managed to get eight suspects beat feet from court while the ninth one was caught by the police.

New polio case in North Waziristan
[DAWN] The National Institute of Health Islamabad confirmed a new polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
case in North Wazoo Agency on Monday.

"The country has registered 10 cases this year, all from North Waziristan Agency,"

officials said. They added that North Waziristan Agency had recorded 44 cases, highest number of the 92 cases registered in the country in 2013. All the affected children, detected last year, hadn't received any dose of the oral polio vaccine because of the ban imposed on immunisation in the area by Taliban in June 2012.

All the affected children detected in 2014 hadn't been administered anti-polio vaccine owing to the Taliban's ban.

On Monday, one-year-old Hilal, daughter of Saeedullah, a resident of Datta Khel in Miranshah

was tested positive for polio. She didn't get the anti-polio vaccine. The ban on polio drops in North and South Waziristan has left about 260,000 children without vaccination. The unvaccinated children risked being affected by the crippling disease, officials said.
