#2  the prosecution dropped the firearm enhancement charge to "avoid further litigious distractions by Mr Baldwin and his attorneys".

The enhancement charge was based on a law passed *after* the shooting. We generally frown on such things in America. Dropping is the right thing, but the question remains as to why it was charged in the first place. Publicity?

It's entirely possible that at least part of the idea was that Baldwin and his lawyers would ask for a deal based on the charge...which would indicate that, like most other politicians, those in NM have zero understanding of the Constitution they're sworn to uphold.

Pregnant Florida woman, 24, charged with murdering mom-of-three in Uber says she should be released from jail because her FETUS is innocent: She claims pre-trial detention is 'harming her unborn child'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Feral plus pregnancy hormones is a volatile mixture.
  • Natalia Harrell, 24, was six weeks pregnant when she was arrested in July and charged with shooting dead Gladys Yvette Borcela, 28

  • The women were in an Uber following a night out and began arguing: Harrell pulled a gun and shot Borcela dead

  • Now Harrell's lawyer is arguing that she needs to be released on bail, pending trial, because jail is punishing her unborn baby

#2  She already endangered her unborn child enough with the night of drinking. Therefore, the Judge should stop further endangering her innocent child.

However, she seemed to have the child in mind when she called an Uber.

She can deliver the kid in jail and surrender it to the State.

Missouri teacher finds loaded gun in five-year-old's bag: reports
This could go bad very quickly.
[MSN] An elementary school teacher in Missouri found a loaded gun in a five-year-old’s bag on Friday, according to local reports.

The teacher found the gun around 8:45 a.m. at Principia Lower School in Town and Country, Mo., about a 20-minute drive west of St. Louis.

Staff members took the gun and gave it to police upon arrival, FOX 2 reported.

Principia head of schools Merry Sorrells told the station the entire school community was notified about the incident.

"We wanted our parents to know that there was never a risk or a threat to any of our students or community members," Sorrels said.

Town & Country Police Chief James Cavins said his department believes the incident was "inadvertent" and that the student did not intend to harm anyone. Nor was there any neglect found on the part of the student’s parents, KMOV reported.

Schools are on high alert after a 6-year-old first grader at a Virginia elementary school shot a teacher during an altercation in the classroom last month, leaving her with "life-threatening" injuries and renewing calls from parents for greater classroom safety and oversight.

Last week, a 6-year-old boy in North Carolina was caught with an unloaded 9mm firearm in his backpack after another student alerted a teacher. The teacher was able to secure the backpack and remove the child from the classroom.

U-2 pilot's selfie with Chinese balloon
[The Drive] A picture taken from a U.S. Air Force U-2S Dragon Lady spy plane of the Chinese spy balloon that traveled through U.S. and Canadian airspace earlier this month has emerged. As The War Zone was first to report, at least two U-2Ss were used to monitor the balloon's flight and gather information about it before it was ultimately shot down off the coast of South Carolina.

Somaliland troops launch multi-direction assault on LasAnod
[ShabelleMedia] The Somaliland forces launched an attack from three directions in the early morning on the town of Lasanood, the capital of the Sool region, residents said.

After the attack, the breakaway regional troops encountered a fierce resistance from SSC fighters defending the contested northern Somali city. The situation on Tuesday morning was tense.

The Somaliland forces, who have been organizing on the outskirts of Lasanod in recent days, want to use all their power to capture the town, which they lost last month.

The morning incursion sparked a heavy shootout between the two sides and residents reported heavy bombardments and artillery fire rained down on all villages across Lasanod.

"We are in danger of being hit by mortar fire and bullets as the situation remains volatile, and fighting may last for long-time," a villager told Radio Shabelle by phone.

Las’anod city is currently in the midst of a deadly conflict that has resulted in over 100 people being killed and over 500 injured thus far, according to the local hospitals.

The deaths includes seven children and their mother whose house was hit by a mortar shell. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
the actual casualties and the impact on the civilian population cannot be confirmed so far.

The UNHCR estimated 185,282 individuals have been displaced, some fled to nighbouring Æthiopia as per the interagency assessment report published on February 13th, 2023.

Ubisoft Teams Up With UK Police To Handle 'Extreme Cases' Of In-Game Speech Deemed Life-Threatening: 'We Want To Be On The Right Side of History'
Ubisoft has lost its way
by Ryan Pearson

[BoundingIntoComics] Ubisoft has announced they are working with UK police to track, and potentially arrest, players for their in-game speech when there is a credible threat to life.

Steffan Powell of the BBC reports Ubisoft has made the deal with Northumbria Police (who operate across the North East of England), and had been in development for a long time. Along with specialist officers who handle “harmful online interactions” educating Ubisoft’s Newcastle Customer Relationship Centre, Ubisoft can escalate “extreme cases” to the police.

These cases reportedly include a “threat to life” or “potential serious harm.” The relevant information is forwarded to the police, who ultimately decide if they need to act, though the Newcastle staff can recommend legal action. It was also noted less than 0.01% of cases the centre dealt with needed police involvement, “a handful of cases each month” as Powell describes.

#6  ...It makes sense if they plan to use them to soak up the Taiwanese air defenses in the opening hour of an invasion. Use these as the opening wave, and the RoCAF isn't going to be able to determine who's a drone and who ain't - they'll have to shoot them all down, and when they turn for home...in go the real strikers. The RoCAF is on the ground rearming/refueling or out of ammo.

If they plan on turning them loose against the USN...well, bluntly, we have targets with better performance.

Olde Tyme Religion
Asbury Christian Revival Becomes Explosive Inter-Denominational Phenomenon
[Breitbart] The massive Christian revival taking place at Kentucky’s Asbury University has spilled over into many Christian denominations, drawing faithful from mainline Protestant churches, bible-based groups, and Catholics.

When an ordinary prayer service was held at this small Christian college on February 8, no one dreamed it would balloon into the immense ecumenical phenomenon it has now become.

The “Asbury Revival,” as it has been dubbed, developed into a viral phenomenon on social media, spurring Christians from far and wide to make the trek and join in the worship.

Students have streamed into town from Purdue University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Ohio Christian University, Transylvania University, Lee University, Georgetown College, and countless others, but visitors have also come from farther still, places like Hawaii, Mexico, New Zealand, and Indonesia.

The magnetic draw has not only transcended geographical boundaries, however, but traditional confessional limits as well.

Father Norman Fischer, chaplain at local Lexington Catholic High School called the ongoing awakening a “wellspring.”

“You just know right away that God is there,” Father Fischer said.

Father Fischer said he traveled to Asbury on February 12 and saw a number of current and former Lexington Catholic High School students among the worshipers.

“Hands were raised, people were singing, and all were in one accord,” Father Fischer said, citing Psalm 133, “how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together as one.”

Father Fischer said he found himself “filled with love” during the experience and “got into praise mode.”

The Asbury phenomenon is “pure” and “definitely of God, definitely of the Holy Spirit,” the priest said.

“Since the first day, there have been countless expressions and demonstrations of radical humility, compassion, confession, consecration, and surrender unto the Lord,” said Asbury University president Kevin J. Brown in a statement posted on the school’s website.

“We are witnessing the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control,” Brown added.

Another Catholic, Katie Reynolds of Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington, has already been to the Asbury gathering three times, together with her four children, who range in age from 6 to 18 years.

“Every seat was full, and it was standing-room only,” Reynolds said of her impression during the first visit. “You could feel the Holy Spirit in the building.”

Reynolds’ 13-year-old son, Dylan, said he thought it was really powerful and “so cool” to see everyone praising God, adding that he loved seeing “how Jesus and God came into their lives to help them.”

Dylan’s 6-year-old sister, Lucy, said the singing made her feel as if “Jesus was right next to me.”

Asbury is holding its final public worship service on Monday, bringing an end to two weeks of nonstop praise and fellowship. As of February 21, the college will offer nighttime services only to college and high school students, which will run through Thursday, after which services will move to locations off the the university campus.
